Daniel 1:1-2:23, 1 Peter 3:8-4:6, Psalms 119:65-80, Proverbs 28:14
Today is the 25th day of November, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it's wonderful to be here with you today as we take the next step forward like we do every day, the next step. It's funny, just the next step is what we take and then we…we end up having moved through the entire Bible and then through an entire year. And it's such a vivid portrait of what next steps can do when we take the next right step and letting the Bible be a voice in that next right step. Well that's why we come here every day around the Global Campfire isn’t it. So, let's dive in. And right off the bat here we’re moving into new territory in the old testament brand-new book.
Introduction to the book of Daniel:
This book is called Daniele and it’s an intriguing book to say the least, maybe one of the more intriguing books in the Old Testament. And it’s…it’s an historical account and is certainly helpful and valuable and gives insight into the…the kind of times, the times of exile that we've been reading about for quite a while now. It hasn't been that long ago, but it seems like it’s been a long time ago that we read the story of Solomon and we came to like the apex of ancient Israel's culture and civilization. And since that time we've…well…we've been in a lot of territory but this theme of exile, this thing of conquest and Jerusalem being conquered both historically and prophetically have been kind of where we’ve been camped out and we get a different perspective of that in Daniel. But Daniel also though contains these incredible visions and these visions have been poured over for thousands of years in eschatological studies - the studies of the end, the end time prophecies. Daniel is a centerpiece in that study. So, here's what's interesting. We just read the book of Ezekiel and Daniel was contemporary with Ezekiel. He was…he was taken into exile when Jerusalem first fell to Babylon in 597. And we know because we’ve been reading these stories of deportation and exile and prophets both in exile and in Jerusalem. So, we got Jeremiah prophesying from Jerusalem through all of the turmoil and we’ve got Ezekiel prophesying from exile in Babylon during all the turmoil. So, we know that it was not a good easy time whatsoever for those who were being displaced and Daniel was one of those people. And despite the struggle of being deported to a different land Daniel was favored by God. He was gifted. He was young. He rose to become an influential advisor. He was of utmost authority in the Babylonian kingdom of Nebuchadnezzar. But there's quite a story that got him there. And even though Daniel was exiled and was a Hebrew and was a prophet he really wasn't a prophet for or against Israel, which makes his voice unique because this isn't a particularly Jewish set of prophecies with the other prophets. We need that…that Hebrew context that we’ve been drilling into all year long to sort of understand the grievances that are being laid out before the people of Israel and what repentance might look like for them and what things might look like if they continue on the road that there on. Daniel’s not really prophesying with that kind of voice at all. So, we’ll notice that Daniels’s…it’s not broken up into two different halves or anything like that, but we’ll see that generally the first part of the book is the story of Daniel's life. So, we get to know Daniel in the first part of the book. And we’ll find some of the most famous of Sunday school stories in in this part of the book like the story of Shadrach Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace or the account of Daniel in the lion's den. Then once we kinda move through that narrative, move into the back half of the later part of the book, it shifts then to Daniel's prophetic visions. And he has visions of four great world empires. And it…it's…it's apocalyptic literature. So, as a genre, it's highly symbolic and allegoric and we’ll see almost cinematic in nature as its retold to us. Remember when we…remember the wheel within the wheel and all of that imagery in Isaiah when we’re trying to think this all through and picture all this. We’ll be doing that with Daniel as well. And of course, if…if eschatology, the study of the end times is a passion of yours then there's no way to avoid Daniel. It’s the centerpiece of that type of study in the Bible. But whether or not figuring out the end of all things, the end times, the apocalypse is…it is important or not in your faith journey, what Daniel portrays through all of his visions, if we had to kind of boil things down we would see that Daniel is revealing that God is sovereign over every kingdom of the world for all time. Like, God is the most-high God and He is sovereign over all. So, let's let’s dive in. Daniels gonna to carry us into the final month of the year, which is the month of December and we’re just days away from that.
And, man tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day here in the United States. It’s also China's birthday. So, I’ve had two major holidays land on two birthdays in my family. Jill’s birthday’s July 4th. So, that's a constant. Of course, China's birthday is the 26th of November, but it happens to fall on Thanksgiving. So…so we’re…we’re really at the threshold. This is like Thanksgiving Eve, everybody's cooking lots of food and after this we move into warp speed so quickly that we just need to take a deep breath as we move into this new territory, reminding ourselves that God is sovereign over all things and continue to do what we talked about just a few minutes ago, the next step forward, day by day, no matter what the chaos or…or all the stuff that's going on swirling around. Even though it's festive, the rhythm we've established is what's gonna carry us into the new year. So, we’re reading from the New International Version this week. Daniel chapter 1 verse 1 through 2 verse 23.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for another day. We thank You for bringing us into new territory. It's always exciting to turn the page and move into new territory. And, so, we thank You for the book of Daniel, and we ask Holy Spirit that You would awaken our minds, quicken our hearts that we might hear and learn and see whatever it is that You have for us as we continue this journey day by day, step-by-step. Come Holy Spirit, we pray in the mighty name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Hey this is Jared calling from Duluth Minnesota it’s 2:53 in the morning on Sunday November 22nd, day 575 of my renewed journey in the DAB family. I was so moved today by __ of joy who’s been cycling down for three weeks and can’t move, is scared, not going out of the house, completely alone and your desperate cry for help. Want you to know that we are praying for you and that I’ve been there before in a dark place and so difficult to get out of that…that hole sometimes but __ can help and God will be your rock in time of need. And also, for Rosie, Free in Jesus where one year ago her son disowned her like my son has disowned me and your husband died and contemplating suicide. And again, I’ve been in those dark places. I want you to know that we’re praying for you and that God would just supernaturally bring peace, comfort and joy in your life today and in the future. God bless. Bye.
Hello food DAB family this is Vonnie from Northern California calling on Sunday morning the 22nd of November. Just heard Sheer Joy crying out for help this morning and even though I know it’s been a few days I am praying for you dear sister and know that the Lord sees you and hears you. And even though your family is praying for you a few days after you called God sees you exactly where you are at that moment and He is going to come in and He is going to enter in His Holy Spirit to help you. And we’re asking, O Father please in the name of Jesus we ask You to bind the enemy and keep him from our dear sister, Sheer Joy. Bring back the joy, restore the joy of her salvation dear Father. Help her in Jesus’ name come in and eradicate any part of the enemy’s plan to bring her down. Bring someone else in, a friend, somebody who can bring light and joy and comfort and encouragement to our friend and bring her out of this pit. I think of David and the psalmist calling out from the pit and she’s doing exactly that Lord Jesus. I pray that You would restore the joy to her, fill her with the love that casts out all fear and all dread and bring her back to fullness and to healing and hope and to health. We thank You in Jesus’ name.
Good morning everybody this is God’s Smile here. Just like to share a little about Maria my helper. Maria had an experience. She’s had two this year. She’s been with me two years, Maria, and our relationship has really grown close. We’ve had some chats about the Lord but that’s as far as it’s gone. Maria had sleep paralysis twice now and, in that paralysis, she sensed evil and her hands were tied in front of her outstretched and she couldn’t speak or move, and it really frightened her. So, when I heard this, I said to her, “Maria there is power in the name of Jesus and so to use that name. And she said, “how do I use that?” and I said, “if you can’t speak it Maria just say it in your mind.” So, we conversed like this and I gave her a little prayer to say and gave it…spoke to her about the Lord and His love for her. So, Maria is covering around tomorrow to…she’s a teacher but she cleans for me. Isn’t that lovely? And, so, I felt…I felt the Lord saying get her a Bible, but I wasn’t sure when to give it. So, this Bibles come today. So, I’m…she’s been messaging me, and I really have this rise deep inside my heart that the Lord is in all this. Of course, He is. But you know, faith is rising to believe she is very close to receiving Him as her Lord and Savior. So, would you pray for us? My discerning about the right time…time’s ticking away…give her the Bible. Bye-bye everybody. Love from God’s smile. Kiss kiss.
This is for Dorothy the special ed teacher who called in with compassion fatigue and for all teachers, front line workers, nurses, doctors, police officers, first responders and I would add veterinarians for we’re doing our best to provide good medical care and love on our patients while providing curbside service and it’s just so difficult for people. There aren’t enough hours in the day and the dogs are so frightened. But we’re doing our best Lord. And I also want to lift up a prayer for the student who called in with so much anxiety she couldn’t leave her apartment. She was too anxious to stay in bed but too depressed to get out of bed. Oh Lord I lift up my prayers for mercy for from 138. I give thanks O Lord with my whole heart and sing your praise because when we call on you, you answer us. And the strength of our souls you do increase. You know that though we walk in the midst of trouble you preserve our lives. You stretch out your hand against the wrath of all that would threaten to overcome us, and your right hand delivers us. You will fulfill your purpose for us, and your steadfast love O Lord endures forever. For I know that you will not forsake the work of your hands but instead pour your Holy Spirit on us. Fill us with your living water. Lift us up with the power that raised Christ from the dead. Renew our strength. It will mount up like eagles. Lord I give you my thanks and I pray your grace and mercy on all of these who have called in. In Jesus’ name. Amen. This is Donna from Pennsylvania.
Hello Daily Audio Bible family this is Wonderfully Made in Albuquerque. Today’s the 23rd of November. I have a prayer request. I have been struggling with some really really extreme anxiety related to work stresses. The work that I am involved in deals with a lot of regulatory compliance issues and I lead a team that supports…has…is a support group for customers. And I…there are some customers that are pretty combative, and I am not the kind of person that deals well with that. I want peace I hate conflict. I know that conflict exists in this life, but I shut down when I have to deal with people who are like that. And I…it’s Monday, I‘m anxious, the emails are pouring in and I’m starting to shake because I am scared of what I’m going to have to deal with. And, yes, I could leave my job and go to a different job but the challenge with that is there’s always going to be people that are just very abrasive and mean and….and so I’m dealing with…I’m struggling with that, especially with how I respond as a Christian. I really don’t lash out in anger at people but what happens is I…I hold it in, and I think through conversations I want to have which I know won’t be edifying. So, anyway I’m just really really struggling, and I need prayers. Thank you so much.

soccer club captain mingyu x yearbook editor reader au! pt 2
continue from pt 1
mingyu is very close to seungcheol, the soccer club former captain and school alumni as he came to monitor the progress of soccer club under mingyu’s leadership
the 10 players, lining up and standing across each others trying to pass the ball to each other as a warm up
so the team was divided to into 6:6 with seungcheol as the goalkeeper for the opposite team
the game started with a loud whistle and seokmin got the ball, trying to score into the opposite goal, he passed the ball to the team’s striker, mingyu and mingyu striked a goal easily
jihoon, then tackled a ball from seokmin and almost landed a goal but was blocked by chan, the team’s goalkeeper
after 2 hours of games, the practice ended and mingyu’s team won with 8:6
seungcheol knew he entrusted the soccer club to a reliable person
“good game today mingyu and others, i have lots of fun monitoring and playing with you guys today! good luck with upcoming regional tournament! now lets go to mcdonalds boys its my treat!”
since its been half of the year, the yearbook committees had gotten so busy to catch up with activities within the months (sports day, academic decathlon, language week etc)
since that bread and milk day, mingyu and you didn’t come across each other except that time you met him at the school gate and he blushed suddenly
what drugs he’s consuming
anyways, you were discussing with yearbook journalists and photographers about having them manage their time properly according to upcoming events due to midterm examinations coming soon
a lot of teachers complained that some yearbook committees had to miss classes frequently because of activities held by the school (its inevitable you know)
you went to your work desk after briefing but the photographers and journalists still sat around the meeting table
you were eavesdropping to minghao talking to other photographers about regional soccer tournament apparently being held soon and who’s getting the tickets
“mingyu got me a front seat ticket and he said he is inviting someone else too”
“he is probably inviting the girl in the theatre club, no?”
“dunno...”
WHATS THE DEETS WITH THE THEATRE CLUB GIRL
“well im not suprised if they still keep in contact with each other”
as much as you pretended to be unbothered you cant help yourself to be engaged in their conversation about mingyu
until the assistant editor of yours, soonyoung or people call him mr hochi came breaking the chit chatter to end with his arms crossed
hochi is much feared by the committees compared to the chief editor yourself since he is a year older and stricter with the yearbook’s precision
he was the chief editor for 3 years consecutively before you and decided to become an assistant because a lot of past committees quitted because of his leadership lol
“i didn’t appoint you guys to gossip but to do your job as yearbook committees, i don’t want to hear any complaints again from teacher about any of you slacking or missing out in classes”
with that everyone parted ways and continue doing their things at their personal desks
that was just an appreciation advertisement for our mr hochi lets get back to your love story
when you went to your locker to pick up english literature books, you saw a note stuck on the locker door
‘hey can we meet at equipments stores around 4 am right after our evening class, don’t be late i have to attend my soccer practice at 4:15 pm, sincerely mingyu’
okay why he wants to meet you at 4 in the morning but the practice at 4:15 pm???
you just laughed and proceeded to your literature class
after your literature class, you went straight to equipments stores and saw mingyu were fiddling around with something in his hands
“why do you want to meet me at 4 am?”
mingyu was half shOOKETH when he heard your voice and he had this “what???” face
“you wrote 4 am in the note” and you laughed again
mingyu was rubbing his neck and kinda laughed too, “i wrote that in hurry because i was in rush to my mathematics class”
you nodded and he smiled in awe after looking at you
“ah actually i want to give you this..i don’t know if you’re free but i’d be honoured if you can come to my tournament”
(my readers be like pretends to be surprise.gif lmao)
HE GAVE YOU THE VIP SEAT TO THE SOCCER TOURNAMENT YEAYYYY
“oh....” you just accepted it shyly
suddenly he rummaged his adidas convertible and took out an egg tart and strawberry milk again this time
you feel so overwhelmed you want to burst when he gave them to you
“y/n do come to my tournament this saturday alright? i would be so happy if the chief editor herself could come and give her personal feedback!! i gtg now, bye!!”
“thank you mingyu..”
mingyu walked away and went to field after making you feeling so flushed
the following morning, when you walk to the hall you met minghao and he greeted you a good morning
“y/n i already talk to the graphic and layout designer to reformat the yearbook design since we’re adding new segment”
“what segment?”
“either advertisements or candids section, what do you think is better?”
“for 2 pages? nobody is gonna be entertained with ads” and someone was running in the busy hall, pushing your shoulder making your file in your arms fell
minghao collected your file and tilted his head to the side
“y/n..you’re going to mingyu’s tournament?”
little did you remember that the soccer tournament ticket was in your clear file and minghao had to see that
“y-yes...”
“we’re going together then!!!” minghao jumped a little and stopped his track, “wait a minute...so you’re the girl he is currently having a crush on?”
“what crush? what about the theatre club girl?”
minghao was standing with his hand hanging to his waist, “so you overheard our conversation?”
you nodded
“we guessed him and the theatre club girl were a thing but turned out she was pestering mingyu one-sided”
he walked to the stairs to go to his literature class and you continued your way to your physics class after bidding goodbyes
in the literature class, minghao interrogating mingyu session
“dude, you’re flirting with y/n now?”
mingyu ignored the latter but he was actually flustered to answer
“do you expect a full page coverage of you and soccer club in the yearbook by doing this?”
mg: “what the hell minghao?”
minghao: “okay im just kidding”
mg: “she’s too adorable”
minghao: “adorable? didnt she get mad at you for sleeping on the couch in a prohibited room?”
mingyu was in his dreamy state because he was reminded of your smile
he was like that for 1 minute and minghao snapped his fingers
“okay fine i like her genuinely i want to keep her in pocket stop asking me”
saturday arrived aka the awaited soccer tournament day
your father lifted you off at the town’s stadium and you saw minghao with his camera bag and camera tripod
“hi do you need help mr photographer?”
minghao: “sure thing, do you have the ticket? lets go in”
you helped carried the adapters and batteries bag and got inside the soccer hall
mingyu who happened to be searching for vending machine found you and minghao
HE INSTANTLY TURNED INTO THE BIGGEST PUPPY EVER
he came running to you and grinned as wide as he can
“you came y/n!!!”
he looked at your shoulder and noticed the adapter bag belonged to minghao and rolled his eyes as he took the bag off your shoulder
“yOU MADE HER HOLD YOUR THINGS???!!!”
minghao was like -_______- “shut up mingyu”
“i offered to help because those seemed heavy”
after the chaos mingyu held minghao’s both camera and adapters bags then lead both of you to your vip seats
minghao set up his tripod and started adjusting his camera
you were inspecting the soccer hall
can you guess what mingyu was doing?
DING DONG DAENG
he was looking at you tenderly like he hadn’t seen you for 10 million years, he was really infatuated with you
you said “don’t you have like rehearsal or stuff to do other than looking at me like a creep?”
mingyu blushed again and excused himself to the waiting room to brief to his soccer club teammates
“i have never seen him so invested in a girl like that before, he likes you like a lot y/n”
“really minghao, you think so?”
anyways the tournament began, for the first halves of the game your school team seemed sloppy and demotivated because “apparently they seemed nervous” the commentator said
during the interval time, you can see and hear mingyu shouted really loudly to give encouragements toward his teams
the coach also were guiding them and giving careful advices before their second halves started
mingyu on the field were looking at you and minghao, smiling half-heartedly
you took this opportunity to make a big heart with your arms and mingyu instantly laughed, continued running to his position
seokmin, jihoon and mingyu scored 4 goals during the second halves with chan managing to block 2 goals and 1 free kick from opposite team
your school soccer club took the trophy home with last minute goal from jihoon with 9:7 and all of the players were roaring happily doing their circle hugs
after the final match ended, you waited by the side of field
mingyu saw you in the crowds and he ran towards you
“congratulations mingyu, i enjoyed it!!”
“well im hoping you could come for another tournaments”
“i would love to......date you and also go to your other tournaments.”
mingyu was SHOOKETH AGAin its like he was getting heart attack
“what?????”
“you didn’t hear it wrong, boyfriend”
mg: “so it’s day one today?”
you nodded and beamed like the brightest sun ever
mingyu gently kissed your cheek and you both half-hugged since mingyu was sweating lol
little did you know, minghao captured the picture of mingyu kissing your cheek perfectly

Hebraic History matters.
for in it we find the revelation of God of Creator who made the heavens and garden earth.
A post shared by John Parsons who writes to reflect upon this significance:
The Torah divides the calendar into two symmetrical halves: the Spring and the Fall, indicating the two advents of Messiah. The Biblical year officially begins during the month of the Passover from Egypt (called Rosh Chodashim, see Exod. 12:2), and the spring holidays of Passover, Unleavened Bread, and Firstfruits both recall our deliverance from Egypt and also our greater deliverance given by means of the death, burial, and resurrection of the Messiah, the great Passover Lamb of God. Yeshua was crucified on erev Pesach, buried during Unleavened Bread, and was resurrected on Yom Habikkurim (Firstfruits). The holiday of Shavuot (i.e., “Pentecost”) both commemorates the revelation of the Torah at Sinai as well as the revelation of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) at Zion, in fulfillment of the promise given by our Lord....
The intermediate months of summer end with the advent of the sixth month of the calendar, called the month of Elul, which recalls the time Moses interceded on behalf of Israel after the sin of the Golden Calf. To commemorate this time of our history, we likewise focus on teshuvah (repentance) in anticipation of Rosh Hashanah and especially in anticipation of Yom Kippur, the great “Day of Atonement.” In Jewish tradition the 30 days of Elul are combined with the first ten days of the seventh month (called the "Days of Awe") to set apart “Forty Days of Teshuvah” leading up to the Day of Forgiveness for Israel. Immediately following Yom Kippur, the mood changes as we begin preparing for a joyous week-long celebration called Sukkot (i.e., “Tabernacles”) that concludes with the holiday of Simchat Torah.
Just as the spring festivals (Passover, Firstfruits, and Shavuot) have been perfectly fulfilled in the first coming of Yeshua as Mashiach ben Yosef, so the fall festivals (Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot) will be fulfilled in His second coming as Mashiach ben David. Since the first advent fulfilled all of the spring mo'edim to the smallest of details, we believe that His second advent portends similar fulfillment as revealed in the fall mo'edim. The fall festivals therefore prophetically foretell the Day of the LORD, the second coming of Yeshua, the great national turning of the Jewish people, and the establishment of the reign of the Messiah upon the earth during the Millennial Kingdom in the world to come. accompanied by another post John shared this morning:
“I go to prepare a place for you... on the other side of this veil; the place of my secret chamber. Look into my eyes before I go; see my heart's passion: I am aflame for you, and yet I must go; I must... There is no other way but through, through the waste places, into the darkest pitch, across that chasm... But don't let your heart be troubled, for this demonstrates my love and seals my word to you forever. And though we must be apart for a season, I swear I will come again for you, to take you through this veil to be with me forever. Do not lose heart, my beloved. I am coming soon; my hand is upon the door...”
Do you have trouble receiving these words as your own? Henri Nouwen keenly wrote: “There are two realities to which you must cling. First, God has promised that you will receive the love you have been searching for, and second, God is faithful to that promise.” You must believe the “yes” that comes back when you ask, “Do you love me?” You must choose this “yes” even when you do not experience it” (Inner Voice of Love). You have to trust the place that is solid, despite the gnawing sense of inner emptiness and the inevitable changes of this present life... [Hebrew for Christians]

Pie in the Sky
“And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.” (Revelation 19:9)
Unbelievers sometimes ridicule Bible-believing Christians as being “so heavenly minded that they are of no earthly use” and as waiting for “pie in the sky bye and bye.” This canard is, of course, unjustified because the Lord Jesus has told us: “Occupy till I come” (Luke 19:13), and we are also instructed: “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men” (Colossians 3:23). A Christian could—and should—do a better job in his particular occupation than he would ever have done as a non-Christian. All honorable occupations come within the scope of God’s primeval dominion mandate (Genesis 1:26-28). “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might” (Ecclesiastes 9:10).
Nevertheless, there is indeed a great feast day coming bye and bye, and indeed it will be a great blessing to be “called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.” Presumably those who partake of this wonderful feast will be not only those who constitute His Bride, but also others who are called to be guests at His wedding supper. Since the Holy City is also called “the bride, the Lamb’s wife” and since it is inscribed with the names of both the “twelve tribes” of Israel and also of the “twelve apostles” (Revelation 21:9, 12, 14), it is clear that believers from both the pre-Christian and Christian ages will be there. They will all have responded to the Lord’s invitation and have had the right attitude of heart and life toward the will of the Bridegroom (Matthew 22:1-14; 25:1-13).
Whether some kind of heavenly pie will be served at the supper is doubtful, but it will surely be a time of great blessing. HMM

Tox’s (and part of Arum’s) Life Story, and music
This gon’ be long so I’ll put it under a readmore
(a bit of comparison to Red and Boss too so I think I’ll reblob this to them)
This is me rambling to my dear @r0astet0aste but I took out everything that’s not actual rambling to shorten it if only a little
I've got to get up an info page for Tox
-slams hands down-
LISTEN I'M GONNA DUMP ALL HIS SONGS ON YOU
OK SO
ARUM NEVER PAID ATTENTION TO HIM. EVER. EVER EVER. NOT UNTIL THE WAR
HE WAS FAR TOO FOCUSED ON BEING GASTER'S ASSISTANT, AND THEN TRYING TO GET HIM BACK
THE SCIENCE DAD AND SON IGNORED THEIR 'UNINTELLIGENT' SON/BRO
TOX GREW UP FEELING INFERIOR AND NEGLECTED AND STUPID
SO HE THREW EVERYTHING HE HAD INTO PHYSICAL ABILITY IN THE HOPES IT WOULD GARNER HIS BROTHER'S ATTENTION
AND EVENTUALLY STARTED TAKING OUT HIS FRUSTRATION BY ABUSING ARUM
BUT ARUM DIDN'T GIVE A FUCK
HE TOOK THE PUNCHES AND KICKS LIKE "are you done throwing a tantrum, bitch? yes? good bye i'm going back downstairs"
Basically he was enamored with his dear old daddy and considered Tox a waste of space
So getting beaten up had the same effect as Tox wailing annoyingly as a small child. That "ugh stop" effect
Meanwhile poor Tox just
Wanted attention
Yes he beat up his big bro but all he wanted was attention
So there's this song for his feelings on Arum pre-war
Diary of Jane - Breaking Benjamin
Keep in mind he doesn't remember G
So all he knows is Arum ignored him for science for no reason
And so he was desperate for attention
He got it in the royal guard
He was good. He was powerful. He was Undyne's favorite
He fell for her of course
So they got together
(Arum has been with his Grillz, his Alphys, and the shopkeep bun in terms of real relationships I just need to figure out the order. Alphys first I'm p sure)
Then
The human fell
Arum fell for her gradually, put his trust in her, believed she'd break them free, etc
That didn't happen
King died. Six souls were destroyed
Toriel returned to the throne
Undyne didn't like that
Because Toriel instilled a mercy policy to fallen humans
But Frisk had told Arum that the human population had grown immensely in the last several centuries
Breaking free and initiating war - Undyne's plan, just like Asgore's - would result in monsters being eradicated
Arum was always on Toriel's side
When Undyne challenged her, the civil war broke out
Tox felt loyalty to his lover, ofc, but he also realized Arum and Toriel were right. War was a bad idea
Besides, the last thing they needed was their ruler to be another Asgore
Who was ruthless and made the underground hell
So he was torn
He eventually settled on a side - Toriel's
There's this song for when he had to fight Undyne
Headstrong - Trapt
Then
then
well, keep in mind
none of this was actually Frisk's fault
Everyone thinks it was but
In reality, she was trapped in the void by Flowey during his omega battle
Flowey felt horribly guilty for fucking it all up
He started rewinding time, again and again
Arum was the only one aware of this
He experienced the resets and reloads
So the Civil War, which stretched for idk a few decades probably
was actually much longer
Tox died
When he was killed the first time
Arum had a meltdown
He realized then that
despite everything
Tox was the only family he'd had left
And none of their fighting mattered, did it?
He'd wasted his brotherhood. He'd ignored the only person he had that was family
First mental break
This song
Not Gonna Die - Skillet
ISN'T IT GREAT?
the last thing i heard was you whispering goodbye... and then i heard you flatline
Arum was an absolute mess
Then time rewound again
He tried to warn Tox not to fight in that battle
Tox didn't listen to him ofc
so he died several times in the war
So I've got a few songs about that
Soldier Side - System of a Down
Battle Cry - Skillet
Not Afraid to Die - Written By Wolves
And my favorite for the Civil War time (aside from Not Gonna Die)
IS THIS ONE
Rise - Skillet
(by the way, yes, in every Skillet song on his playlist, Arum is the girl singing)
I mean
technically Undyne is the one revolting from Toriel's rule but
Toriel's rule is basically a revolution from Asgore's reign of terror
They're fighting on Toriel's side for a semi-peaceful life
They can't wage war on the humans
They obviously won't be breaking the barrier any time soon, back at 0 souls
All Toriel and her followers want is for the death to stop
So the last 40 seconds of this song?
With the phone call and the news reports and all that
They're all things that would've happened in Asgore's reign
Monsters breaking into each others's houses and dusting them for EXP
People being left on the streets to die
etc
AND THAT LAST MALE VOICE?
"You're such a failure!"
"What is wrong with you?"
"You're worthless!"
"You can't do anything right!"
"I wish you had never been born!"
All things Arum has snapped at him throughout his life
So he's got shit like that playing in his head
But he's still fighting to protect
and by this point
Arum has lost him so many times
He just
He wants to take it all back
He synthesizes a carefully measured solution of determination
Aware of his and Alphys's failures with the amalgamates, he realizes pure determination would only make Tox melt
(Alphys has committed suicide by now btw)
So he works desperately to find a working determination amount, mixed with other chemicals, so he can stop Tox from dying without making him melt
Not much time to test it but he does his best
Keep in mind Tox can't remember any of his deaths
All he knows is his brother has flipped his fucking lid ever since the human left
And keeps talking about time shit that he doesn't understand
Arum forces the determination mixture into him
It works
Tox survives the battle he kept dying in
Drawback: Tox's body distorted
It didn't melt but
It had to shift and change to account for the DT
this is why he's nine feet tall
The civil war continues
Inevitably, Toriel loses and steps down
She returns to the ruins
Undyne takes the throne
Tox is one of the only survivors on Toriel's side
The brothers return to Snowdin and Arum attempts to explain the whole time shit
(He pointedly does not attempt to explain Gaster or what he was always working on)
But he apologizes for everything
So ok Tox doesn't really get it all
He's still just... not very bright
But he realizes that Arum has lost everything and is trying to change
So things for sure aren't perfect, but they at least stop hitting each other and attempt to communicate more
Arum's first mental break and the endless resets within the war has left him not enitrely stable
Arum was a mess
He put his faith and trust in Frisk and look where it got him
Look where it got the whole underground
He returned to working desperately to try and get his dad back
He somehow convinced himself if Gaster was back, everything would be okay again
Honestly he put G on such a high pedestal, it's crazy
He consistently believes he could never measure up to him in terms of scientific ability, though he's been monitoring and repairing the core personally ever since G was cast into the void
He's probably surpassed G by this point but he can't believe it
he's got Red's failure complex honestly
He just shows it far less
Oh I should mention his HP was never 1
He always had over 200
Physically, he was always stronger than Red
He just didn't use it
Bigger, stronger, he didn't have the defects that Red was created with basically
anyway after that, whenever a human fell, they'd kill the human and purposefully crush their soul into little bits
so Undyne couldn't take the soul for herself
a few slipped through the cracks, tho
current time, Undyne has 3
Flowey kept occasionally fucking with time
The magic in the underground soured
Crops began to fail
Soon, food became very scarce
the monster population had basically halved due to the war but still
Hunger began to take control over everything
Tox came up with the clever idea (for once) of slowly conditioning himself and Arum to be resistant to most poisons
They started to poison their own food stores to deter people from stealing their food
But the fact is they started to starve slowly
Another human fell
In a fit of hunger, having lost himself, Arum killed and ate the human
well he set half aside for Tox but
yeah he tasted meat for the first time that day
Cue another mental break afterwards, when he realized the brutal, horrifying act he'd just committed
He'd killed only a few times in his life, and only in self-defense
Tox had dusted many in the war, but that was war
This was him murdering and eating someone in cold blood
and he really loved the taste, too
He was sickened by himself
Tox, too
But they didn't really have a choice anymore
Tox had long since accepted that the world was fucked up
Arum was new to the idea, having locked himself away in labs for most of his life, he was far more sensitive to this shit
This was around the time that Arum first became suicidal
So here's another Tox song as he started to realize Arum was in even worse mental shape than he thought
Never Too Late - Three Days Grace
Arum is growing ever more desperate about getting his father back
On a very bad day, he attempted to use the machine he was building, before he had finished it and properly tested it
Oh boy did that backfire
He reached into the void with a flawed machine and the void yanked payment
You've seen Fullmetal Alchemist, right?
Them boys reached into the void asking for the impossible
Arum reached into the void asking for something very possible, but he did it in a flawed way
He didn't have enough power or control in the machine
So first of all it exploded and took a chunk out of his skull manually
Now that could be healed with green magic provided you have all of the bone material with you
But what the void took wasn't all physical
It took chunks of his mind
Not only that, it soured and rotted his soul
His soul reached 0/0 HP but he did not die
His soul was permanently rotted and changed. He's already at 0, but still there, so he can't die
His magic soured too
You recall his dark, dark red magic color? Almost brownish black?
Wasn't originally that color
The hole in his skull destroyed one eye but the other began to glow permanently
He can't teleport, he can't die, he can't conceive a child, he can't even soulbond
He's essentially a zombie
And he looked the part for a while, too
Tox heard the explosion and rushed down there to find Arum unconscious with a chunk missing, tendrils of voidy shit being battered back by vines
Flowey probably saved them all from more damage
Tox attempted to heal the wound in Arum's skull but it didn't work
His body no longer accepted green magic
The basis of green magic is healing HP and at 0/0, there is nothing to be healed
Green magic hurts Arum about as much as being attacked does
Both make his soul glitch the fuck out like an amalgamate's
Anyway, Arum was unconscious for a damn long time
Days
But finally, he woke up... And he couldn't remember anything. He couldn't focus his gaze on anything. He couldn't speak and could hardly move
He was completely catatonic and only vaguely conscious
Tox had to take care of him the same way you might take care of a baby or doll, minus the crying
He fed Arum by hand, carried him around the house, manually moved his joints so Arum's body didn't entropy
Attempted to communicate in any way
Eventually Arum started to be able to recognize sign language again, and at least nod or shake his head in response to simple questions
He slowly regained control of his body, then speech, and at last, his memories began to come back hazily
He's still missing chunks of his life but he made a pretty miraculous recovery over a period of several years
He remembers, vaguely, the feeling of time resetting
But he can no longer experience resets properly
He doesn't remember them and they give him intense migraines
He never remembered the events of the day the machine exploded, and seeing as Tox has no clue what happened, he still doesn't know
He's just sort of... Assumed the machine is fine
And hes always like "oh yeah i should get back to building it some day" but hasn't gone to the basement since and he doesn't know why
Flowey ain't around
I mean they were never friends
Arum and Flowey fought over resets before, though Arum's mostly forgotten it
And they've talked about Alphys or about science briefly but
Theyre acquaintances at best
But Flowey, guilt ridden yet again, hasn't been around and won't tell him what happened
Anyway
The period of several years where Arum was 100% dependent on Tox stuck with them
Their shaky bond has evolved into a full on dependency on each other
Arum needs Tox desperately because he's a fucking mess mentally, and often he'll have bad days where he can't remember anything and goes semi-catatonic again
During which days Tox babies him and ensures his safety and comfort
Tox needs Arum because now he has a purpose
He's not only wanted but needed
It's like they never fought
They're as close as brothers can get
(Without being incestuous lmao)
They rely on each other 100%
Arum is there for Tox when he has war-induced PTSD flashbacks and needs comfort. Arum feeds them both with humans and other food he can steal.
Tox mans puzzles, patrols, keeps them safe from Undyne and is there for when Arum's mental health deteriorates
They split food evenly down the middle
Arum would give Tox more of his share since he can't starve to death, but Tox refuses
Arum is still often suicidal
He's honestly tried every method in the book to die
Overdose on poison he's trained himself to survive. Bullet to the head (ow). Trying to crush his own soul. Starving on purpose. Drowning. Freezing. Setting himself on fire. Hell. There's a Reapertale Sans rp blog ( @jokingdeath ) that Arum went up to and was like "touch my hand and kill me"
He literally shook hands with death and it didn't kill him
And nights when he's attempted or wants to attempt, and knows it's all useless, and is just a sobbing mess
Tox is there for him
Here's the last two songs lol
Also both Skillet
Fire and Fury - Skillet (I realize this is a love song but platonically okay)
The Last Night - Skillet (not all of the lyrics fit but you get the gist of it)
Oh i fORGOT MY OTHER FAVE!
why isn't it on the youtube playlist how dare
wait there it is lol
Ok so this one, The Last Night, Rise, and Not Gonna Die are my top 4 for Tox
honestly I can't rank them they're just my top four
Fix You - The Offspring
She sees a million stars like holes in the sky
Arum has a far more bitter take on the surface world than Red does
all God's tears for her they cry, and I am in her rain
Arum is just
you think Red is in bad shape depression wise?
hAH
The difference is Arum puts up a far better "i don't give a fuck" front than Red
Arum laughs at his own pain far more. He makes death jokes and dead baby jokes
(His laugh is not sane anyway)
He kills mercilessly, without hesitation
With a smile on his face
(His smile is not sane either)
Gore makes Red vomit
it makes Arum grin
Red has at least a modicum of faith that they'll get out some day
Arum knows damn well he's never going to be free
Honestly they're both Underfell!Sans but they are vastly different
They were vastly different long before Frisk fell
And they had vastly different lives from the beginning
Arum's Gaster was a good man
Yes, he neglected Tox terribly, they both did
But Dros created them to be his children
As the last skeleton alive, and not interested in a romantic relationship, he created Arum and Tox in a similar fashion as how Erebus created Red and Boss, bot for the opposite reason
He also didn't fuck up with Arum
Red's physical body came out wrong
He formed too small, too frail
He always had 1 HP
Yes, it was in part due to his pessimism, but physically, his body can't hold much HP in the first place
If Red's HP were to rise (and it will) I think I'd cap him at 50
My 5 foot smol was born with the short end of the stick
slaps knee
short end
Boss was born with the long end slaps knee again
Boss's body was always too big
He couldn't control his magic properly and his body was pushed too far
which made him a very sickly child
but as an adult he evened it out with endless training
They're both on one end of an extreme
Whereas Arum and Tox were both quite average. They were evenly leveled, physically
Arum is 5'6", he's completely normal
He just happened to have inherited Dros's extreme intelligence
a fairly common thing in humans, genius can be hereditary
Meanwhile Tox... didn't
Boss was born with strength that he had to hone. Tox was born average and created his own extreme strength through willpower and desperation
Red was born with a too-strong mind that was further distended with experimentation, and had to hone and focus his intelligence once they escaped. It left him with so many emotional issues
Arum's inherited intelligence was carefully guided by his father and he was an average genius, also made extreme through willpower
All of his emotional issues are because of his fucked-up timeline 8,D
Ahhh I love designing characters
Red and Arum as as different from each other as they're both different from Chaos
who is also an Underfell!Sans
Who just happens to be female
and just happened to go insane and kill her entire timeline due to a certain brat :3c
BUT THAT'S RAMBLING FOR ANOTHER DAY

The tension that surrounded the front-desk was so palpable that it was keeping customers from entering or leaving the store. A few had tried to overcome their uneasiness by attempting to walk past the duo under Zoro's soul-chilling glare, but were so perturbed and consumed by dread that they gave up and continued to circle dumbly around the store until they felt it was safe enough to pass. Nami and Sanji were oblivious to the anxiety as they stood leaning over the counter, watching Zoro gleefully as he mutely munched away at the sandwich Sanji had brought him for lunch.
The two of them looked absolutely delighted as they conspiratorially leaned together, already at ease with one another despite only having met once before. Knowing that they were waiting for him to make the first move, Zoro took his time eating, slowly consuming his food with all the lackluster of a grazing farm animal. None of them mentioned or even seemed to notice the apprehensive customers that had a formed a line outside the door, waiting to come inside.
Swallowing down the last bite of his sandwich, Zoro finally spoke.
"Well, I'm glad you two are fucking happy about this."
In an instant the thick, atmospheric cloud of tension snapped and dissipated as a collective sigh of relief arose from the customers who felt they were now free to leave and enter.
Zoro slouched back in Nami's rolling chair, swiveling around discontentedly in his seat to cast his seething glare between the two of them, ignoring the sudden influx of people that circulated past them. Nami laughed a bright, jubilant laugh that Sanji took to liking immediately. He then felt compelled to laugh along with her as he leaned across the counter to level Zoro's glare with a mirthful look of his own.
"I bring you food and business, and this is what I get in return? Death threats and empty promises? I expected better from a, uh, hang on-" Sanji paused in his tirade to grab and begin flipping through the Super-Star! Guitar's instructor profile booklet the front-desk counter offered its guests. He found Zoro's page at the back quickly, snickered at the unflattering photograph of him, and read aloud from the quick biography and pretended not to be impressed with what he read. "-From a '3 time Bass Guitar Monthly cover story performer, who's use of the 3-necked bass 'Santoryu' has made favourable impressions across the country.' See here, I thought you were supposed to be a professional."
"I am," Zoro snarled, sitting up to snatch the booklet away before Sanji could read anything more about him. "And my threats are anything but empty."
Rolling his eyes and snatching the booklet back, Sanji said, "I'm sure you're all bark and no bite, but I wasn't talking about your lame death threats, idiot."
"Then-"
"The art show," Sanji replied flippantly, scouring through the booklet to inspect the other instructors and paused over Brook's page. "Usopp's art show is tomorrow; you haven't even tried to make an effort to get me any more involved in that."
"Wow, really?" Nami said in a tone that was so disapproving, several patrons were stricken with a severe sense of inadequacy that would haunt them for the rest of their day. She hopped and twisted onto the countertop so that her legs were dangling on Zoro's side and kicked out at her associate, who easily rolled out of reach in her chair. "I told you to take him!"
"I was!" Zoro said angrily, scooting around in the wheeled chair as Nami continued with her attempts at harassing him. "I still am! The damn thing hasn't happened yet, so get off my ass about it."
"That may be, but I still don't know where the hell it is, or what time it starts, or what the fuck being a fake bodyguard even entails," Sanji said flatly, closing the booklet and setting it aside before it could offer him further distraction.
Rolled all the way against the far wall, Zoro planted his feet firmly on the ground and crossed his arms, frowning harshly at the both of them.
"It starts at 7," he began, narrowing his eyes at Nami when she stuck her tongue out at him. "We have to get there early, though, so we can help set up, so I'll come by at 4."
"That's really fucking early, are you that incompetent with directions?"
"Fuck you," Zoro bit out. "He wants me to pick up some prints at his place beforehand so we have to leave early enough to get that shit done, asshole. Does that cover it?"
"No," Sanji said, amused with how easy it was to irritate him. "Where is it, what do I have to do, etcetera?"
"Hey, Zoro!"
Behind Sanji, a young teenaged girl waved enthusiastically at the grumpy looking punk, prompting Zoro to stand up and ignore Sanji outright as he went to great his next lesson.
"Been practicing?" Zoro questioned as he lead her away, looking back over his shoulder to sneer nastily at both Nami and Sanji.
'Rude fucker,' Sanji mouthed after him as he left, earning a hasty and discreet middle finger in response that made him snicker.
"Don't worry about the details too much," Nami said as she slid off her perch to retake her seat behind the counter. Sanji turned back towards her as she began to organize her desk. "All you really have to do is dress formal and look imposing to keep Usopp from shitting himself."
"Easy," Sanji said, striking what he hoped was a dashing, yet imposing form.
"Sure." Nami smiled. "The hard part for you is going to be getting along with Zoro the whole night."
"Bastard," he said, slumping.
Giggling, Nami reached across to where the printer was situated on her left and grabbed a piece of paper from its tray.
"Anyway," she said as she began to write on it. "I'm going to go ahead and give you the directions to the place since Zoro's probably going to make you drive."
"Asshole," Sanji commented lazily, leaning over the counter to watch as she wrote. "What's 'OperationUtopia'?"
"It's the venue the show gets held at," she replied, handing the piece of paper over to him once she finished detailing the instructions. "It's really hard to find because it's so underground, but Zoro's been there before often enough that if you can at least get him in the general area he should be able to recognize it. But that might be giving him too much credit."
"I'll be sure to jog his memory if he needs a reminder."
He gazed over her neat handwriting before folding the piece of paper until it was small enough to fit in his pocket. He looked back to Nami, who sat twisting in her seat with the sweetest smile he had ever seen gracing her gorgeous face and thought momentarily about asking her out on a dinner date.
Instead, he returned her smile with a charming one of his own and asked for her number.
"You think you're real smooth, huh?" she teased as she pulled out another piece of paper from the printer and tore it in half, writing her number down on one of the halves and handing it over to him. "That's just in case Zoro gets you guys really and truly lost."
"Of course, mon Cherie," Sanji cooed, happily noticing that she had adorned the little scrap piece of paper with hearts. "And now I must sadly take my leave of you, but you can expect many a call or text from me later!"
"Uh-huh, buh-bye now Sanji."
Nami winked at him as he gathered together the containers he'd brought their food in and turned to leave. Sanji's heart fluttered as he bowed before her and then left through the door, ignoring how many people were struggling to get in and out.
As he strode down the sidewalk back towards his car, and even through the rest of his day, Sanji felt wonderfully happy. With the weight of not knowing where to be and what to do the next day lifted from him, he proceeded to get the curtain rods he'd been denied the night before and spent the rest of the day texting Nami off and on, learning various things about both her and Zoro in the process.
He was surprised, though not very, to learn that they had been in a band together a few years ago, though they had since been put on an indefinite hiatus. She wouldn't tell him why, but suggested he check out their music and had given him the name of their band and a link to their old soundcloud.
When he got home and fixed the rods above the windows in his bedroom, he pulled out his laptop and set it up in the kitchen so he could listen to their music while he prepared dinner. Rolling up his shirt sleeves, he entered in the link Nami had sent him via phone, and pulled up the Mugiwara Menace's soundcloud profile.
Glancing through their track listings, Sanji found himself unsure of where to start, and wondered if he should ask Nami what her opinion on where to start was- decided he didn't want to bother her with his indecisiveness- and eventually settled for listening through their discography in the order the songs had been uploaded. With his laptop placed off to the side on the counter, he hit play on the first track and then began to work through his dinner routine.
As the song started to play, he paused and glanced back to his laptop screen, scrutinizing the band's profile picture when the sounds he thought they'd be playing didn't exactly line up with what he thought their punk band would be like.
Along with Zoro (who looked like a younger, dorkier version of himself), and Nami (who was as cute and beautiful as she was now), a third man stood between them that Sanji didn't recognize. Wondering if this was just someone Sanji hadn't met yet, he was startled to see that the band had just over 5,000 followers. For a band of only 3 people to exist within a genre that was as atypical as punk was- to have that many fans was impressive.
Below the picture, a caption read that they were the pioneers of a new punk genre they'd proudly labeled 'Parrot-Punk', which was what was apparently being played for him now.
Snorting at the idiocy of the genre they'd given himself, he wondered what the hell he was getting into when the song he'd selected got over its calm intro. It started out quietly but soon crescendoed into a loud, punkish roar that filled and consumed his apartment with a catastrophic beat that still managed to follow an organized rhythmic pattern. He quickly turned the volume down to something that wouldn't blow his ears out and then tried to resume cooking.
For the most part, it sounded like the same generic punk sounds he'd heard before, but with an odd mixture of instruments he wouldn't have expected a punk band to make use of- and then the vocalist began to sing.
He wasn't sure why, but he'd assumed that Nami's voice was the one he was going to hear shouting out the lyrics, and was taken by complete and total surprise when he realized that the singer was Zoro.
Sanji's first instinct was to laugh.
Zoro's voice was low, rough, raw, and clearly not intended to sing with, but it didn't stop him from bellowing out the words to the song in a manner that was so impactful it made Sanji slowly stop what he was doing entirely.
The song was jaunty and sounded like a rowdy sea-shanty reinvented into an angry anthem of anti-establishment. The overall tune of it sounded happy and carefree, but when he listened to the lyrics he understood just how misleading the tune really was.
There were so many individual components to the song that Sanji initially wasn't sure what he was meant to focus on first. He tried to listen to the song as a whole, and found himself overwhelmed with all the different aspects the song had going for it. The guitar was accompanied with a violin that jilted around the thick, heavy, resounding bass line that thudded in time with the sharp percussion, leading Sanji on as the track progressed towards its end.
It was, he had to admit, very well composed and put together; it went well beyond what he thought Zoro's song-writing capabilities could be, and wondered which one among them was the one who'd actually written it. He stared down at the forgotten ingredients he had splayed before him and doubted his initial ability to be able to make fun of Zoro's singing.
He let the song finish and stood in momentary awe before he decided that he wouldn't be able to concentrate on cooking and listening to the music at the same time. He bookmarked the band's soundcloud and then shut his laptop before finishing his dinner, wondering how his tomorrow would play out and what impact getting into their music would be.
