Ed keeps doing it until a very red and very flustered Izzy starts dragging him back into the captain's cabin, and then he just moves his face to Izzy's crotch as Izzy is trying to stagger faster and faster without tripping and falling on his face.

He loves it though, Ed used to lay his head in his lap when they were younger, before Blackbeard, before they fell apart, but he's not going to show that kind of vulnerability in front of these imbeciles (who can't even tie knots he couldn't have gotten out of, had they tossed him over - they did it on purpose, it was a fuckery, Lucius will tell him later)

So anyway Izzy and Ed wind up back in the cabin and they kiss for the first time in years and years and it's maybe softer than it's ever been and Ed cries and begs Izzy not to leave him too and Izzy promises he won't and fucks him so tenderly and *then* Stede comes back

When I'm feeling charitable about it, I think it's atmospheric and moody and hinging on small details to make the scene whole. When I'm being uncharitable, I worry it's overwrought and downright purple.

Squared glasses hang low over the bridge of his nose, and their significant prescription magnifies the depth of the bags under his eyes. “If you wouldn’t mind opening the door?” “‘If we wouldn’t mind,’” Leon mutters sidelong.  “I don’t mind, if it means that nobody shoots me,” Claire retorts, “and it’s my house.” And it is her house.  Claire opens the door, but she quickly presses forward into the gap that it recesses. She doesn’t offer the men so much as a polite smile or a greeting, instead asking, “Do we have a problem?”

sometimes. it's harder because i love lyrics + i love singing so my attention flies out the window at a moments notice when i'm listening to anything at all. today ive been listening to jackie and wilson by hozier, because i fucking love jackie and wilson by hozier, everything about it makes me go nuts

3) what order do you write in? front of book to back? chronological? favorite scenes first? something else?

For the most part I write chronologically from beginning to end. I find it easiest to just let the words flow as I'm writing, though I do also have a habit of jumping out of order.

If there's a scene in my head that I like, then I will write it! Even if it's not chronologically next. I've gotta get it down before I forget it, y'know?

7) when asked, are you embarrassed or enthusiastic to tell people that you write?

A mix of both I think. Like, I am not embarrassed to speak on works to be published under my legal name to people irl, but I am very hesitant to speak on the stuff I post here.

I think that more comes from the fact that I keep my online life and my irl life separated though. I am not embarrassed of my writing or what I do (minus the sex scene. I'm just a bit bashful on that part), I just don't want people to link Andromeda to me irl.

13) your strengths as an author

It's always so hard to point out my own strengths, especially since I'm always learning and evolving as a writer.

If I had to choose, I think my greatest strength is my ability to describe things. I think I've gotten pretty darn good at describing scenes and people without unnecessary exposition (not that I have anything against exposition, I'm just not a fan of it in my writing style!).

Another strength I have as a writer is my ability to just spew words onto paper. This actually goes along with the answer to Morri's question yesterday, but I have been practically trained in Bullshit Manufacturing. I am capable of just letting a stream of consciousness onto paper and fixing it later.

you've got Xavi and Lakia right!! and while Tieling would introduce himself more like tea-ling (or with like. 2.5 syllables like tea-ah-ling), that's just because that's how Arthur said it the first time they met!!

there's canonically no one way to say Tieling, because it's a word from a language that's been dead in-world for several millennia, and that language relied a lot more on the melody/notes words were said to rather than letters and strict pronunciation - and i, personally, make a vibe check with my heart every time i say his name out loud, so there's no wrong answer!!

other pronunciations encountered in-book include:

t-yelling (like just BARELY any t at all, like a glottal stop/pause)

telling (like saying something)

dying (the fair folk dont really have L sounds)

tiling (like you!!)

tilling (like farming)

tel/til-lean (the northern deltierin language always puts emphasis on the second syllables of words, so this one stands out the most to him)

She's endlessly devoted to her family, even the ones that have abandoned her, and she wants to be a better sister to her big sibling who raised her all alone. She has and unbendable - but also unorthodox - sense of morality. Her character development is realizing she wants to live, and choosing to do so! She is tormented by visions. She's covered shoulders to ankles in rose tattoos. She's butch. She cuts her own hair. She has daddy issues AND mommy issues. She's instantly devoted to her femme fatale love interest, but even though she'd die for her she WON'T compromise her principles for her. Her love triangle becomes a happy throuple, despite her initial jealous sabotaging. After defeating the bad guy, she goes to therapy.

Eddie is a relatively short and curvy "pear shaped" Latina woman with very short shaggy brown hair that she cuts herself. She has a round face, a widow's peak, and dark brown eyes. She has blooming rose vines tattooed all over her entire body, and several ear piercings. She wears punky butch clothing and no makeup (except when she is "cross" dressing in her femme girlfriend's clothes). She has lightish brown skin. She's in her mid twenties.

OH also possibly relevant to your interests, I was thinking about various sadboy breakup era canon divergences myself and one of them was Izzy just kind of sighing and asking ed if he wants another tattoo about it and ed saying no :'( and Izzy sighing harder and asking ed if he wants to give Izzy a new tattoo about it and ed saying :'( we don't have any ink and then of course Lucius appears as if summoned like I'll give you some of my ink. Ooh that is relevant to my interests, thank you. I'm imagining Izzy sitting extremely stiffly and uncomfortably and Ed trying to cajole him into relaxing a bit, for him, please, and Izzy cannot stop sighing (or relax, every time he thinks he's doing it he actually looks more tense).
