deep sigh I know this is bait, with all the effort of not even typing out full words. But hey, here's my chance to rant about how stupid anti/purity culture is. As far as I understand it "proship" has two major slang definitions: 1) supporting romantically/sexually shipping fictional characters together in general 2) supporting romantically/sexually shipping "problematic" fictional characters together I take it this ask is about the 2nd definition. There is ofc the wave of "PROSHIP DNI" on social profiles, especially young queer folks on social media, which I find highly disappointing because here is the thing: what do you consider "problematic?" In what context? And why the hell are we applying these broadly to the exploration and experimentation of fictional space as a qualifier for someone's moral standing? Why are you so adherent to what is considered institutionally approved as safe, good, and squeaky clean. Especially as a queer person who exist outside and in contradiction to cishet heteropatriarchal standards. Oh and now we've come to it: the fear of queerness being associated with things like incest and age gaps and what have you--things people generally deem problematic in shipping. The desire for queerness to be clean and wholesome and fucking acceptable. Model minority thinking if you will. Let queerness in fiction and media be soft and wholesome and healing, let it be deplorable and unforgivable, let it be wretched, let it be mean, let it struggle and grow and evolve. Let it have the breadth and humanity that cishet characters and stories are readily given. Please stop shooting yourself in the foot with this "good representation" thing. No level of internet drama and ship warring will make them want to kill any of us any less. The line for what institutionally acceptable queerness is will always move, it will always constrain and choke and kill and put us back into little boxes fit for consumption by the power structure. On the one hand, if you have things that ick you and you don't want to see, curating your online space is a good thing. That's what muting and blocking and tagging is for. But to me the "prosoship dni"/anti that I've witnessed for the most part is either model minority thinking, a false association with fictional enjoyment as irl condoning and morality, moral grandstanding, or some sort of wack performative tribalism. (Don't even get me started on the purity culture social panopticon we're living in.) Or some combination of the above. This rise of anti sentiment and the fall of media literacy is a correlation that I fear cannot be a coincidence. You can enjoy things in media that you wouldn't actually condone or even enjoy in reality, you can consume and enjoy media while also actively being aware and critiquing it for its flaws, issues, and the context it was created in. Build your critical thinking skills folks. Sometimes it's even good to encounter things you don't like to understand the world and yourself better--to understand why you don't like it and what it is connected to. Build your self awareness folks. In summary: please chill the fuck out y'all and hold grace for others.

El would have been better off going into 9th grade in Hawkins. She’d have the Party (minus Will, but that’s not really a loss anyway, tbqh) who have always had her back (see: she’s our friend and she’s crazy!!), and she’d be with Max, even if Max is struggling (it’s clear they miss each other dearly).

Guess “Nancy can be like your sister/my mom can take care of you” was the better option after all. Lord knows Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Max as a group wouldn’t put up with her getting her shit rocked by someone like Angela.

AAAAA TYSM FOR THE ASK

OKAY OKAY SO

THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG ONE STRAP IN FOLKS

I'll start with Secrets Of War bc it's my main main wip! (wait— finished writing it do I even still call it a wip??? Or does that stop when I get it published???? uhhh- whatever we're gonna go w it)

It's a dystopian romance set in a fictional stratocratic?) country, mostly controlled by the widely known and even more widely feared military.

The mc is Cali Diaz, a 15 y/o from the farming colonies. She's an anxious overthinker who prefers to avoid conflict at all costs. She ends up forced to join the military after her home is bombed during war.

Here she meets Lane Thatcher (my fav character I've ever created <3), a sixteen y/o who was born and raised in the military and is a weapon above all else. She's stoic, cool under pressure, and really against showing emotion (that was hammered out of her in an early age).

Lane is assigned to train Cali to fight and basically help her Not Die. Cali soon grows a horrifically big crush on her.

only problem? Their commanding officer has very strict rules against relationships (especially romantic), that he's not afraid to enforce through harsh, even violent measures if need be.

That's the basics and as much of the plot I can give you w/o ✨spoilers!✨

Now, onto What It Takes To Take A Life

WITTTAL is set in a place divided by two (unnamed :/) kingdoms, one worshiping one for he two main gods: Pheonix, the goddess of life; and Thana, the goddess of death.

The first mc we meet is Rowan De Rullo. He’s an immortal sorcerer with a soft spot for dragons (which, in this world, are the sources of magic. Some say that they’re physical manifestations of the gods themselves). He’s intuitive, somewhat of an old soul (literally), but is also permanently trapped at the sort of maturity a 19-20ish year old would have (the age he became immortal at).

Later on, we meet his ex-boyfriend, Caspian Einar (er—is it an ex if you thought he was dead?)

Rowan and Cas met in their village as young boys and hit it off quickly. Until one day, when Cas just… disappeared. He was pronounced dead, and Rowan grieved his love.

Until the boy shows up on his doorstep, the shit beat out of him, older than he was when they’d met but younger than he realistically should be with the amount of time that passed.

Rowan barely has time to comprehend this though, because as he’s trying to heal him, someone else shows up, hot on Cas’ trail, hellbent on ending his life. They fight and run, Rowan nearly dying in the process which snowballs into basically the world almost ending. :)

I've been thinking of the people saying the ineffable bureaucracy relationship timeline was too fast compared to ineffable husbands

But honestly I think a thing a lot of people are missing here is that relationships aren't really comparable and everyone as a different experience with them. Sometimes yeah, it all happens rather quickly (ex: high-school sweethearts that get married right after high school) and sometimes it's incredibly slow and takes more time than a fucking crockpot and a 450k slowburn.

Beelzebub and Gabriel haven't known eachother for as long as ineffable husbands has, doesn't mean their relationship isn't as valid and that they're immediately going to get sick of eachother the second the honeymoon phase wears off. Ineffable Bureaucracy might have happened rather quickly for celestials but.. as someone who's in a relationship with the love of my life

When you're with that person, it feels like time itself stops, that it's just you and them. While also feeling that there's not enough time in the world where you would be satisfied with their company.

I get people's frustration that ineffable bureaucracy worked out and ineffable husbands is still in that damn crockpot, but IB had always talked and communicated, Crowley and Aziraphale don't talk about anything. Even if IH would've gotten together in season 2, it would have resulted in nothing but heartbreak and things not working out because they never talk to eachother about how they're feeling. Neil recently confirmed that Aziraphale didn't know that Crowley was living in his car because Crowley didn't tell him. Aziraphale still thinks that Heaven is all sunshine and rainbows despite everything Crowley tries to say about it.

IH would be an absolute nightmare of a relationship at the moment, you'd have 2 people that won't communicate to literally save their lives. Nina and Maggie said it perfectly in the last episode, they never talk to eachother.

And I'm not saying that Gabriel and Beelzebub are perfect either, they both have their very fair share of flaws, Bee takes their anger out on the people around them, and Gabriel is a manipulative little shithead at times, but the reason they're the foil to Crowley and Aziraphale is because they're willing to work through it. At the end of the day they're side characters and not all their dates will be shown on screen. It would take a lot more than 6 episodes to show all of them; and just because we're only shown a small snippet doesn't mean that their relationship isn't valid or that they're undeserving of their happy ending

TLDR: Ineffable husbands aren't ready for a relationship mentally and lack the commutative skills for it, while Ineffable bureaucracy got together while being open and honest. IB is meant to be a foil and just because it was fast doesn't mean their relationship isn't valid or unfair

i’m reading this paper by a psychoanalyst on how certain philosophers viewed the state of being “out of mind” (as in madness) in a pre psychiatric time and the whiplash i just got lmao.

the writer spent five pages talking about hegel’s views on mental illness and how he not only believed there to be a cure to “out of mindness” but also that it is important to experience it so as to create an absolute spirit. cool, specially considering this was before the mental illness term even came to be.

the psychoanalyst follows that up with kant’s views on it. he spends as much as two paragraphs on it just to clarify kant believed out of mindness to be the worst mistake of reason and “it’s horrible and also im scared of catching the demencia”

So this is a bit after Leo shows up as a parasitic ghost. After hearing some of his stories it gets Yuichi thinking about how while he’s seen love he never once felt it in a true romantic way. He couldn’t exactly ask Cali so best solution was go to April(yes that’s April).

She’s glad to help as always but now something else is on her mind. Yuichi, despite being as old as the fucking mountain, doesn’t really know anything and since his form resembles that of a child everyone treats him as such and forgets his age pretty often. He’s never needed to look older either since it was never an issue until now. Now as in story plot stuff..blah blah Donnie a dickbag.

At the end there it’s her just realizing “oh shit, yeah he is old” and not just a regular young child asking a question. It’s a person who never experienced life like everyone else. Never had the type of experiences that allow a person to grow.

My bad if this ain’t make sense, I’m fighting demons frfr😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
