Emotional manipulation

In act 1 vi is practically cast as a bad person if she didn't join forces with caitlyn. She tells her things like she needs to wear a badge to show that "not all of zaun supports jinx" and implies the only way for her to be helpful is to become "one of us". Then proceeds to appeal to vis guilt and tells her she thought vi was on piltovers side...then ofc she doesn't care about vis consent at all because she enlists her anyway

Cold shouldering

If cait thinks she can make vi do something she'll give her affection. Want vi to kill her sister and not ask about your shitty behavior? kiss her. Want vi to enter a war after being fatally wounded? Hold her hand. Want to know if vi is still in for the long haul despite all the bullshit you've put her through? Lay on her shoulder. Vis never given genuine affection outside of doing things for cait. And we all saw them violent reaction she got when she didn't do things caits way

DARVO

I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to properly place that scene in episode 8 when vi and cait argue but this pretty much sums it up. She tells vi to calm down when she's rightfully angry, and snaps, yells, and throws something after being called out for her own behavior. Then has the nerve to get onto vi for not trusting her after everything she'd done to her and zaun...

All this shit happens and people refuse to see this ship for what it is...atp if you like it fine, but when stuff like this is playing out on screen, don't expect everyone to let it slide. These are all signs of an abusive relationship, and you add the fact that she has indeed hit her more than once....wtf is anyone supposed to gather from that

I don't even know. Her character just seems...pointless? made no sense. Especially since the last time we saw her she was trying to steer Cait away from Ambessa. Her betrayal just feel so empty almost as if they didn't know what to do with her since Caitvi needed to be endgame so they just pull the "traitor" card like a Disney plot twist villain😭. Like what was her motif? her story? why did she looked disappointed Infront the statue? was her relationship with Cait even get elaborated? I get the whole "microexpression" stuff they tryna do but I don't think everything needs to be implied thru it like come on ITS A STORY FOR GOD SAKE😭It just feel so out of character even for her like did she switch side last minute off screen??? feels like she existed just for shock value which is disappointing when they could've done much more with her character I LOVED HER DESIGN .

literally crying bc why did they never let vi properly grieve 😭 lost her mother and father, lost her adoptive siblings, lost her 2nd father, lost her sister (in more ways than one), lost her girlfriend, lost her father again, and again while also losing her sister. again. as great as it is having caitvi, i wish we could’ve seen more of just vi. grieving, reflecting, maybe having some sort of “deterioration” arc, not like a villain arc, but seeing her go into some sort of psychosis and then rehabilitation rather than jumping from her grief to “happy ending for caitvi!!” like the time we saw something like that, it lasted only a couple of minutes 😭

i guess it’s probably because we’ve already seen this with jinx, but i feel like it would still have impact if they did it with vi, especially seeing how she’s typically the “calm one” when there’s conflict. but then again, they did show it, it was just rushed beyond my expectations and i wanted more of that, especially since at the end, she quite literally lost everyone in her life except cait.

i feel like we even got more of a look into cait’s grief than we did vi’s … but maybe that’s js me

Just want to ask your opinion/thought about this...

This scene is a discussion between Cait, Vi, Mel and Jayce discussing the upcoming battle. Jayca talk about Victor, and the fact that they will lose this fight. And all they can do is stall. Then Cait this will be her job, as a commander the enforcers. Mel will be assists Cait in her battle. But I'm confused (this is sound like Salo 🤣)

Why's she here?

Vi doesn't have a role in this upcoming war (technically Cait betray Ambessa for Vi yes but..) and Vi doesn't speak on the issue at all.. it's just no one ask Vi of her role, of her job, even if she was on the enforcers/piltover side once more. She's technically has a no reason to be here, more logical scale. Not an enforcer, not a Councilor, not a house member. Vi is just simple Vi. So I'm confused this what's are your thought about this? And why Maddie is not there, when before in Jayce's speech she's there too? (It's because caitvi already have a sex?🤣)

My best guess is Jayce needed Zaunite rep of some sort. And we know from the preceding council room scene that the previous Zaunite representatives (Sevika and co.) walked away. And since Vi is the person Jayce has the closest contact with, it makes sense she would be there.

Yes, there were some Zaunites that came back and chose to fight, as we saw when they crossed the bridge, but for the most part they're randos. Just soldiers. We don't see confirmation that Sevika came back to fight until the actual battle, and we don't know if she got in contact with Jayce before the meeting we see. Vi is still the person that Jayce would most likely go to concerning Zaunite representation in wartime planning, because of their interactions and her proximity to Caitlyn.

– Regardless, Vi and Cait try to be understanding when you come home late because they often do the same without warning.

"And just where the hell were you?" Vi exclaims as you walk through the door. The door creaks behind you as you shut it close. Vi walks off with a sly, knowing smirk while Caitlyn goes to reheat your food.

– if you thought that reaction was bad, oh boy...

– Just wait till you see their reaction to you coming home late and bruised up... oh wait, that's what you're here for!

– When you come home battered and bruised, this is probably the only time Caitlyn shows she is worried sick.

– not to say she isn't worried any other time, she is, but she knows you're a grown adult who can handle yourself. seeing you bloodied and hurt makes her heartache and all she wants to do is care for your wounds.

– Vi on the other hand? Let's just say that bomb finally blows.

– Vi is seething with anger the moment she sees a black eye or a hefty bruise on your cheek.

– At first, when you come home, she scolds you for not letting them know but when her eyes finally focus on the sight of you being hurt, her jaw tenses and her fists clench.

"Who did this to you?" Vi says through her teeth. Her breathing accelerates, her shoulders rise to her ears. "I'm fine." "That's not what I asked." Already putting on her coat and shoes, Vi steps up to you once more. "Who. Did. This. To. You?"

– If she's taller than you, Vi purposely makes sure you have to crick your neck in some way to see her face. She needs you to know she's serious and not for playing games.

– If she's shorter than you, Vi deepens her voice and widens her silhouette. When she's angry, her voice deepens anyways, but does it, even more, to come off as big and scary. grr.

– Taller or not, her being more dominant is attractive-- but that's not why we're here!

– After the staredown with Vi, Caitlyn comes to the rescue. She gets Vi to calm down then gets you an ice pack.

– After everyone's calm and had a few sips of water, you sit on the couch while holding an ice pack to your bruises. Both Cait and Vi patch you up and they're equally as gentle.

– Neither girl wants to make your injuries hurt worse and if it's serious, they'll take you to the doctor's first thing in the morning if it's closed.

– Both Caitlyn and Vi ask you questions about your injuries. "How badly does it hurt?" "Where else are you feeling pain?" and the infamous question, "Who did this to you?

– If it was a rando zauntie from off the street, you let them know immediately.

– If it's a known enemy between the two of them, you're more hesitant.

– Either way, the truth comes out and Vi's ready to kick ass.

– Caitlyn wants to be the bigger person in this scenario, she really does, but someone just beat up her partner. The partner that has done nothing wrong in her eyes deserves the small amount of peace and love this twisted world has to offer.

– She's less vocal with her rage than Vi.

– Vi curses like an absolute old ass sailor; using words only the eldest from Zaun used or the words bushy-eyebrowed enforcers used in old books and films.

– Neither of you is shocked but do ask her to tone it down when it gets too aggressive.

– Regardless, once you're patched up, Vi and Cait get dressed to find the perp.

– You stop them, letting them know there's no use since it happened over an hour ago and the perp is probably long gone.

– Defeated, they take off their coat and shoes. Yes, they were going to beat ass in their PJs. (This happens to be the one time Vi puts on PJs while waiting for you.) They find themselves at your side again.

– If the hooligan was some rando, you probably don't see them until you're in Zaun for more than a casual stroll. You point them out to Vi and Caitlyn and Vi rushes over to give them a taste of their own medicine.

– If the hooligan was a common enemy, Cait and Vi rush over to work the very next morning and give them a little visit.

"Don't worry, baby. We have a feeling they won't be bothering you for a long, long time."

bear with me for a second yall but around 2 am after being awake for 23 hours combined with a couple drinks from being out with some friends, i was suddenly hit ideas of things that i thought could’ve helped season 2 to feel more satisfying for each character arc lmao 😭😭

definitely not saying this is perfect nor have i thought too much about if there would be any plot holes but i think it works for the most part

SEASON 1 CHANGES GOING INTO SEASON 2

-no ambessa introduction in season 1; or at least keep her in mel’s flashback or something so we still have a sense of why mel is against war

as much as i love ambessa, it feels like her arc got other character’s stories to be shortened. not having her play a role in season 2 really helps with allowing other characters to have more time on screen and with a couple changes they can still follow similar arcs they had a in season 2

-ending of season 1 plays out the same with jinx shooting the rocket at the council

ACT 1

-pretty much stays the same; no introduction of the black rose but instead after mel discovers that she could have powers, she leaves piltover to go on some journey to discover what it could be

-caitlyn still forms her strike team to try to catch jinx but after it fails she uses her power and status as a kiramman to place martial law on zaun

-basically everyone else still keeps their exact storyline from act 1

ACT 2

-jinx, who also agrees to be the symbol for the rebel group, is motivated by isha to mend her relationship with vi and discovers that she is pit fighting

no introduction of vander/warwick either; the time spent looking for him in episode 5 is instead focused on vi’s trauma and the sisters still end up on better terms

-cait is still inflicting martial law on zaun and starts to have a change of heart when something happens making her solely responsible for the killing of a mother in zaun, paralleling that to how she felt towards jinx killing cassandra. we begin to see her loosen her control of zaun in episode 6 while making efforts to try to atone for the damage she caused

-after helping vi, jinx has her work with the rebel group and they form a list of demands they find acceptable to produce to piltover that basically starts the process for zaun to become independent. vi is the one to bring these to cait with the hope that their relationship makes it more likely for it to be approved

-vi and cait make amends and cait apologizes

-jayce returns and still kills viktor at his cult

-singed is also present but instead of his experiments being on warwick, they’re on something else that is still intended to help his daughter; learns about viktor and his abilities and goes to him try to find a way to harness them for himself to use for oriana but isn’t able to figure it out before jayce kills viktor

-mel learns more about herself as a mage

ACT 3

-keep episode 7 the same

-episode 8 is preparation for war between piltover/zaun and viktor who is revived by singed like he was in the show

-zaun agrees to help fight viktor because they are on better terms with piltover after their proposal was accepted for their independence

-cait and jinx have a bit of a heart to heart moment and end their rift

-mel has returned from her self discovery journey and has her powers developed to where they were in act 3

-ekko returns with the zdrive and uses it to help win the fight

-final battle plays out but no jinx “death” since warwick isn’t present

-viktor and jayce scenes play out like it did in act 3

-cait steps down from her role in the kiramman house out of remorse for her actions and mel steps in to run piltover

-cait becomes a PI and we see her using her detective skills

-jinx, vi, and ekko help with rebuilding zaun to be a healthier place for its people

-caitvi are together and vi also helps cait with her investigative work sometimes

-singed could be successful with getting oriana back or not idk lol

Arcane: Season 2 Act 3

I am actually stunned that this show is over.

I didn't know figure out that is was ending for real for real until the last ep of Act 2 so I'm kinda new to this just distraught feeling and then...then.....

I really enjoyed ep. 7 it was the cutest fucking thing to come out of this whole show. To know that there is a universe out there where they get to be happy, even if it means Vi is dead, is nice.

And Himerdinger's little song was too cute (and he's not dead. I saw someone on tiktok say he wasn't because he's a yordle and you know what I'm gonna believe it because if I don't?? its not gonna be a good time. Also I really thought he turned invisible then because I SWEAR I heard his little footsteps walk away som maybe I'll go with that)

Piltover and Zuan teaming up to fight against a common enemy was wonderful. I loveee a good war/battle/invasion scene and that whole ep FED ME

Ambessa was badass and I hate her AND love her?? Like I have very mixed feelings on her and that's okay because that's what the writers want.

I'd let her completely annihilate me on the... battlefield....and that's all I'll say on the Ambessa topic.

Well actually that Shadow Black Rose mage was LeBlanc right?? I slowly trying to learn all the League lore and I read a bunch of people saying it was her but I really don't know enough yet to be like oh yeah. That's her.

The ending, after some thought and not just going off of my instant reaction which was to scream and cry and pull my hair out, was perfect for the show.

I honesty like how it gives you that feeling of I guess unfinished, like you know there should be more because that's what they want us to feel. The arcane world is so big and there are hunters of stories to be tole and even though I'm sad Vi and Jinx's story is done I know it's not really done, done which is in a way comforting.

This show really was beautiful.

I liked the mix between magic and reality. It really has set a high standard for any animated TV shows that I really doubt anyone will be able to replicate.

But I'm pumped for Penelope of Sparta because greek mythology AND stunning animation/storytelling??? Yes please sign me up I will eat it up.

Omg, you totally get me! I multiship too, but the jumpscare I got during that Maddie scene lmao, it was so awkward and hilarious. Like, I know Maddie believes in Cait, she’s loyal and follows her, but I just can’t. Plus, I got so distracted because they drew Cait so pretty in that scene. I was soaking in all the details, trying to figure out what I can replicate when I draw her.

For more characters I’m doing this in reverse in the way that I’m not looking at what character from arcane is who from Derry girls. I’m looking at the Derry girls cast and saying hmm you kinda remind me of this person in arcane or this character would be funny in your shoes.

Now the group r all close friends and the setting is defo extremely diff since its no longer an all girls school unless… hold up what if mylo and claggor go to the all boys school yk the one they have trips with in some episodes (I think I need a rewatch but anywho) and they are friends outside of school. I’m getting ahead of myself now but if we just make it a public school then that solves yet takes from the comedy of some things but aaaareereghhh whatever we move on

The caitvi would be so sweet yet funny because nothing in this is entirely or at all cannon compliant to the Derry girls verse or plot or whatever

What brought this on was me thinking of that one girl who was hella religious thirsting over that one lad being like (oh god here he is talking bout his dead mother and here I am imagining he’s unbuttoning my shirt or whatever the quote is) and I was like wait hold up hold up

Catholic useless lesbian caitlyn thirsting over vi who’s just as much of a useless lesbian but at some point I was like make them Derry girls verse and I was sold like YESSS I’m a genius (I haven’t slept in two weeks someone send help)

But I do imagine the group being very chaotic yet sweet in that Derry girls charm of theirs yk and just doing fuck all shenanigans.

my thoughts on act iii:

was it perfect? nope. did i still love it? yes!! its such a pleasure to be able to watch this show now, as the fandom is still alive. im really gonna miss it.

some moments i liked included that cait and mel teamup. theyre literally the opposite of their love interests its so cute. mel carried and thats why shes my girl. also caitlyn eyepatch. damn. so grateful mel saves her from that gingerbread man 🙏🙏 also im so ready for mel if we get a noxus spinoff.

also TIMEBOMB CANON BITCH. OH MY GOD. we got timebomb and caitvi back to back. i was FED. ekko is my fav, and its so sad that he couldnt be with pow/jinx in either universe. hope to see him more in other spinoffs. pls 🤞. hes called the boy savior for a reason guys he carried the battle.

and jayvik. wow. love really did save everyone. just…wow. that animation during their sequence was so beautiful.

ofc we have to talk abt caitvi. i was so shocked the scene was explicit 😭😭 (at least in my teenage opinion) but im so here for it. started watching for these two and now theyre endgame.

and of course jinx and vi. i love them with my whole heart. i think jinx’s fate is like a schrodingers cat situation. is she alive or dead?? (i think shes alive) but we may never know. and ive heard people disappointed by her ending and it does feel like a predictable ending for an unpredictable character. but i think it kinda shows her growth. (in my opinion) like she went to the warehouse in s1e3 to save her family. that was her goal. and now at the end, shes completed her goal. protect the family. protect vi.

and oh my god vi deserves the world. shes been through so so much. and at the end it seems like shes finally gotten some peace. only jinx is gone. its so so sad how in the universes where one sister is happy, the other is gone/dead. but she continues fighting. and i think thats my favorite part about her. vi is such an inspiration and im really gonna miss jinx and vi’s stories. but im so excited to see more.

Okay after rewatch it act 2 and sitting with what happened I am actually super excited to see how this is navigated in act 3:

SPOILER ALERT 🚨

Clearly, maddie looks up to Caitlyn. She genuinely likes Cait, and it will probably crush her when Cait chooses Vi over her (at least, she fucking better 😭)

During the first scene of Act 2 with Caitlyn and Maddie, its obvious that Caitlyn is trying to distract herself, and yet her thoughts are still overwhelming her: maddie kissing and touching her, and she gives weak smiles and shrugs it off/her away.

It does feel a little rushed with how quick Caitlyn switches up on Ambessa, but I think we underestimate Caitlyn. There is so much emphasis on her ability to perfectly recreate crime scenes to know exactly what happened, (the attack on the hexgates in s1, and then the attack in still water in s2) and the enforcers were very quick to look up to her and listen to her at the beginning when Ambessa first elected her, and then maddie further emphasizes this, so she’s def got a reputation and is highly respected among her officers, bc she’s so talented. (I mean, she was training with Grayson when she was younger!! Even if Grayson did let her win, Caitlyn kept up with her and gave her a run for her money. At her young age!!!)

Given this information, it really wouldn’t surprise me if Caitlyn was using Ambessa in her own way. Obv she doesn’t agree with the desperate aggression that Ambessa is starting to act with, and there is a certain distance/distrust being developed between the two of them. Ambessa was definetly able to get her thorns into Caitlyn, but that wasn’t the plan in the beginning: it was only after Caitlyn interrupted the council meeting in the dungeon that Ambessa saw the true potential behind Caitlyn. She was always fierce and passionate and commanded respect, those were not given to her after Ambessa elected her.

Now how does Vi fit into this:

To cut it short, these bitches are uhauling for real. In season 1, in the span of a few days, they went from hating eachother to “what about us” and choosing the other over her own sister. Caitlyn feels soooo much for Vi, she sees her potential, and Vi was the only one she felt comfortable being weak around after her mothers death.

“But Caitlyn hit Vi so she—“

If you slow down the clip of Caitlyn turning around, you can see the part where she is pulled from her rage and frustration and realizes what she just did: her eyebrows twitch up and her lip twists and she turns around to keep up this facade that she’s upset with Vi. And obviously she is, and that’s valid, but I can only imagine her crying quietly while climbing that ladder with the guilt in her chest that Vi will never forgive her, and now she’s completely alone.

And Vi is whipped for Caitlyn. She knows how hurt Caitlyn is, and she had to have reflected on what she said to Caitlyn, knowing that what she said would’ve cut deep, and if not empathize at least understand why Caitlyn reacted how she did.

There’s still hurt feelings between them when they reunite, but it’s almost like seeing Vi threw Caitlyn for a loop and she doesn’t quite know what to say, (maybe she practiced what she would say if/when she ever Vi again) especially after being called a mongoose (I still think her reaction is so hilarious), and then right after that getting even more distracted by Vi’s new emo phase.

But even before Vi calls Caitlyn “cupcake” it’s clear that Caitlyn still has feelings for her: when she says “you can’t be here.” Instead of “what’re you doing here” signalling that she knows Vi is in danger here and is worried about Ambessa finding her. She even checks to make sure there are no guards around so that they can continue to talk (probably hinting that Caitlyn is making sure no Noxian soldiers are around to witness her drop her Commander facade.)

So TLDR; Caitvi endgame imo 🗣️🗣️ the writers are so smart and dedicated to this show and I can’t wait for act 3 💋😩

ok wait youre kinda real however!!! i also think theyve been rushed since like. s1. like they knew each other for a few days max and were already defending each other and having homoerotic fights and saving each others lives. caitvi's never been slow they've always been rush headfirst into things so ifl in that sense. yeah ofc they ended up together. why wouldnt they

but also!!!! youre right in the fact that they couldve been done sm better and now that im past the immediate post s2 halo im like wow. the class inequality and piltover vs zaun conflict was rlly set aside for all this huh. couldve made the relationship much more interesting in arcs 2 and 3 esp but thats just me

yeah i think caitvi as a ship could’ve worked!! it just felt… strange?? the way everything was handled?? like it was pretty clear from the start that it would be endgame but it felt like caitvi was prioritized over any satisfying conflict resolution and the themes that had been present from the start. we had a really good foundation for either an interesting redemption arc or almost a corruption arc of sorts, but we didn’t really get either?? it was like the writers wanted caitvi to happen but none of the things that made the dynamic compelling were properly addressed 😭

i do get that a lot of just comes down to not being able to fit everything in a season (there should’ve been a s3 and i’ll die in this hill) but still. maybe my expectations were too high but i am disappointed 💔 and iirc i saw something one of the writers said about how the whole police brutality and inequality between piltover and zaun was to… create more tension between caitvi??? 😭 like “oh caitlyn’s and enforcer and we want SOME obstacles between caitvi… let’s make it so vi’s parents were killed by enforcers!!” which is just. what. if you’re going to create a narrative about oppression and cycles of violence it probably shouldn’t be just to make the yuri more interesting… alas.

i still don’t think it would be all that difficult to just have caitlyn confront her biases onscreen though… we get hints of it but she never really acknowledges the depths of the inequality that she often perpetuates herself. i think if we got more episodes it could be incorporated in a way that felt genuine, but we could’ve also just had her not lean as fully into the dictator role?? it would be rlly fun to see her acting almost as a spy of sorts instead of just. straight up gassing zaun. rushing their development in s1 felt different from rushing cait’s development in s2, bc we don’t really get any solid proof that she’s changed her mind??? part of me is like okay that happened but what does cait think about zaun rn. because we don’t know!! and it irks me so bad 😞

alas. they’re gonna break up and then get back together and get married and then divorce and end up in a weird on again off again situationship-like limbo for the rest of their days. to me.

arcane s2 act 3 I was crying the entirety of all 3 eps and I don’t even know why lmao anyway episode 7 was the best episode in the whole series but that’s just me though. I’m one of those ppl who only like romance when it’s tragic so I ended up liking timebomb more than caitvi plus their sex scene was too out of place for me idk the timing was off although tbf they didn’t really have anywhere else to put it (yes it was necessary). Idk caitvi was so good in s1 and after their fight in s2 them getting together didn’t really hit

jinx my pookiebear I hope she’s still alive but she’s probably done as a character so she’s essentially dead to everyone in piltover and zaun (vi and ekko specifically) that makes me so upset like why did they do that to ekko 😭 he was such a badass but at what cost. and vi really got nothing this whole season wtf I don’t think she won a single fight she just kept losing other than cait she lost fucking everyone 😭 man. Need her to be in the sequel bc if that’s it for vi I could not believe it she deserved more.

still loved it but I’m upset. And I’m a certified yaoi hater so didn’t really care about any of the jayvik stuff but what was their ending like did they die together? and the piltover/zaun resolution didn’t get nearly enough time as it needed like I would’ve traded that for the magical stuff but alright cool I suppose. 9 eps was not enough sigh. anyway now I have to go shovel out my car 😢
