Can’t wait to see the ripple effect on the merfolk of Swynlake.
TASK: B’ BULLSEYE IN THE MANDALORIAN! Not only was the bonus of B’ original art mentioned, but members also pointed out that her plot description fit both the show and Bullseye’s character so well that it was mind-blowing!
Honorable mention: A’s super diverse supporting character tasks were highlighted by multiple members, but get this — no singular one was mentioned twice. Members individually highlighted several of her tasks for their unique casting and emotional impact!

Read on for more information about the election!

🎀 Beatrice
Bea’s days are usually tranquil, but when she was the day completely free, she likes to take her time with everything. She’ll cook something different for breakfast, maybe try a new recipe she was saving for a little while. She’ll practice the piano for hours, singing along to her favorite songs. If Yves also has the day off, Bea will suggests that they go out on an afternoon date, to a cute cafe they like or to a stroll in a park. If he’s busy, she’ll bake a little treat to bring to him, along with a cute note and an invitation to dinner together.
🦢 Aimée
Aimée isn’t the type to stay still and do nothing. She would rather stay in, but occupying her time with some of her hobbies. Dancing ballet, reading a few medicine books, practicing calligraphy… If she’s too uneasy, she’ll ask Ieyasu if she can accompany his work for the day. If they both have free time, they’ll just enjoy each other’s company indoors all day.
⭐️ Kiara
Kiara feels way too restless if she has nothing planned. She WILL find something to do. Probably bothering Isaac until he agrees to go out if her somewhere (not that it’s too difficult for him to be convinced by her, a few puppy eyes and “pleeeease” and he’s doomed lol). If he’s too busy with work or with his research, Kiki will ask around the mansion to see if someone else can spend some time with her, usually Napoleon and Mitsuki.
🧸 Paulette
Paulette will spent literally all day in her atelier sewing. She and her beloved porcelain dolls are always needing new dresses, what can she do? Sometimes, Lette will be so concentrated in her projects that she will forget even to eat. That’s when Kate and Liam come in, trying to take her out a little or at least convincing her to have a decent meal.
Your OC has a day to themselves. What does it look like? Do they stay in? Do they go out? Do they even know what to do with themselves?
Check pinned post for event details.

Remains of the Day: Fort Greene Ramble
Remains of the Day: Fort Greene Ramble
Getting on for 4PM yesterday, I just couldn’t stand it anymore. I had to get out of my apartment. The sun had been teasing in and out all day. It would suffuse the front windows of my ground-level brownstone apartment with sudden, glorious light and I would make a move toward the door. Then, just as suddenly, all would go dark and gloomy, my motivation would flag, and I’d collapse on the couch…

*And saw the opening was Paulette asking Bradley out on a date and they went to a cat Cafe, similar to Poppy and Branch's first date.*
You’re Own Hero(Jock x Goth)
*Poppy and Branch have been going out for two weeks now and they never been happier. While some kids at school seem to think they don’t make sense they didn’t let it bother them. One day the two were out while drinking some ice coffee.*

Task 7: Business Savvy Thread
Thread: Holi-daze || Hatter + Laurette
Laurette couldn’t wait to start celebrating the winter season and all of those extra special holidays that came one after the other. She didn’t really celebrate them before in France. Her father would blow money on his own vices rather than anything festive. Paulette always did her best to provide a whimsical holiday for the youngest de la Croix, but it only made Laurette feel guilty for wanting something extravagant...
But Laurette would feel guilty no more! She’d begged Mr. Hatter to let them decorate the cafe with cute winter themed decor. When he caved, Laurette squealed and ran home to go get some of the things she had stocked up for just this occasion.
Kicking the door open, the gleeful ginger pushed it the rest of the way with the massive box in her arms. “Monsieur Hatter! I brought the stuff I was talking about! Come look!” She called out, assuming he was in the back somewhere.

Saturday 17, 2024
I woke up to the trees covered with a thick layered of snow, I leaped from excitement to such a pleasant surprise. I showered. Made my boyfriend and I breakfast. Then I threw on some layers and the same outfit i’ve been wearing for three days straight. My boyfriend lives in front of the park and that has been something that has brought us a lot of joy. We walked around the snowy park to see parents with their children sledding, I always find it refreshing seeing families in the city. We then made it to a coffee shop right in front of the park called Cafe Paulette” busy with people chattering and the gentle background sound of Nina Simone playing. It is busy but we managed to find a little corner with a table. Next to me sits a lovely couple sharing a book and newspaper. I love you New York.

that klavier is such a nice boy, you know
Apollo and Thalassa were eating lunch at Paulette’s Cafe when it happened. The restaurant had opened less than a week ago, and had been generating quite a lot of buzz. Personally, Apollo thought the food was nothing special and the prices were ridiculous, but he had been enjoying the outing nonetheless. It was always nice to spend time with his…
With Thalassa.
He wasn’t ready to call her mom. Not yet.
But they were getting there. They tried to have lunch once a week, when their schedules permitted it.
Just as they were beginning their entrees, it started to play. In Pursuit of Justice, Klavier Gavin’s new hit single.
“What do you think of it?” Thalassa asked.
“It’s over salted and the spinach is undercooked, but it’s perfectly edible.”
She laughed slightly - less refined then he was used to seeing her. “While I am sorry to hear that, it is not what I meant. The song, Apollo.”
He considered the question as he took another bite of the salty spinach. He hadn’t consciously noticed the music until she pointed it out.
“It’s fine, I guess. It’s generic and inoffensive, but it’s nothing special,” he said. Almost begrudgingly, he blushed and added that “the vocals are nice, though.”
“Generic…? I do not know what ‘indie’ music you’ve been listening to, but justice and the law are not common themes in most modern music.”
“I meant generic for him. All of his songs are basically just ‘Wow, I love the law! Metaphor for sex via tort reform! Achtung!’. I think it’s great he’s getting the next generation into legal careers, but I’ve already drank the kool-aid. It doesn’t do much for me.”
She looked at him mysteriously. She did everything mysteriously, he thought.
“You give Mr. Gavin too little credit. I have collaborated with him in writing a song - he puts much thought into his lyrics.”
He thought she was giving him too much credit, but refrained from snarking. He could look up the lyrics on one of those explanation sites later. He took a drink of his water.
“He thinks quite highly of you,” she said.
He spat out his water in a cartoonish manner. “What?”
“I don’t understand why you are so surprised, Apollo! He is not shy in his feelings for you.”
Apollo pointedly chose to ignore her use of the word feelings. It was probably a translation error. She once told him that Borginian was a far less emotional language than English. She probably didn’t know the connotation that feelings held.
Even if she did, she certainly didn’t know how that connotation made Apollo feel.
“It was an abrupt change of subject,” he explained. “His lyrics don’t have much to do with his - his feelings for me.”
“Is that what you believe?”
Apollo begrudged, not for the first time, the fact that everyone in his life seemed to speak to him in riddles. Mr. Wright, Dhurke, and now her too.
“Yes, that is what I believe. What are you trying to get at?”
She paused before speaking. “It makes me happy to see that you have kind people in your life - people that care deeply for you. I wanted you to know how lucky you are to have them.”
Apollo felt embarrassed as she spoke. It was as if he was a 7 year old boy, and she was cooing about how many friends he was making in school.
But she never got to do that when he was 7. Perhaps it was only right she got to make up for lost time.
And Apollo had to admit - she was right. He was lucky to have Trucy and Ema and Clay and Klavier in his life. They were smart, funny, kind, and occasionally the biggest pains in his ass. He couldn’t ask for better friends.
Still - the idea of Klavier caring deeply about him made Apollo flushed.
“I know. I’m very grateful.”

Ciro’s: Nightclub Playground of the Stars
Ciro’s was one of the most legendary nightclub-restaurants located on Sunset Boulevard, aka the Sunset Strip, a part of then unincorporated Los Angeles County where regulations were more relaxed than in the City of Los Angeles. Entrepreneur William "Billy" Wilkerson, owner of the Hollywood Reporter newspaper, Cafe Trocadero and Vendome restaurant, opened Ciro’s in January 1940. It was an immediate hit that Hollywood stars flocked to in droves, as did Wilkerson’s other loyal Hollywood moguls, due to his previous track record of restaurant successes. Celebrity "regulars" included Clark Gable, Charlie Chaplin, Paulette Goddard, Errol Flynn, Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Olivia De Havilland, Ginger Rogers, Ronald Reagan, and many more.
Hollywood Reporter ads preceding the highly anticipated opening were a daily occurrence, reminding readers that "Everybody that's anybody will be at Ciro's." There was such a buzz, two opening nights were scheduled and for weeks afterwards, it was the only place in town to “see and be seen”. Guests were greeted with a sophisticated exterior facade designed by George Vernon Russell and a Baroque style interior by Tom Douglas. Douglas’ style epitomized the latest in Hollywood glamour - walls draped in heavy ribbed silk, dyed a pale Reseda green, and ceilings painted in American Beauty red. The stars luxuriated on red silk upholstered banquettes and warm bronze urn light fixtures flanked the bandstand. Emil Coleman's orchestra graced the stage.
Post premiere parties, benefits, and birthday parties were lavishly celebrated at Ciro’s. One of the oddest occasions in the club’s early days was a fashion show by a local furrier who dressed models in expensive fur ensembles accompanied by the same live animal. These beavers, leopards and minks got a peek at Hollywood’s infamous nightlife that most people weren’t even privy to! Speaking of insider access, columnists Hedda Hopper and Louella Parsons were usually on hand to surveil the scene and keep the public informed of Veronica Lake's alcoholic bouts, who Judy Garland was seeing, and the latest leading man to be temporarily banned for causing a disturbance. Lana Turner named it her favorite haunt, and with high powered endorsements like hers, Ciro's entered the realm of legend, packing the house with nightly audiences eager to enjoy headliners such as Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peggy Lee, Liberace, Maurice Chevalier, Danny Kaye, Nat King Cole, and countless other performers, for almost two solid decades.
After two and a half years, Billy Wilkerson repeated the exit strategy he’d used at the Trocadero, abandoning Ciro’s to establish La Rue Restaurant just down the street. In his place, Herman Hover took the reins and continued to foster the nightclub's great reputation. Hover remodeled the club, making it even larger and more opulent, in an effort to keep up with the other joints on the Sunset Strip and cater to the tastes of Hollywood's elite and loyal customers with the best entertainment in Hollywood. Highly popular with photographers, hundreds of photographs were snapped of the famous and not-so famous each night.
With the increasing popularity of Las Vegas in the 1950s, Hollywood's nightclubs found it difficult to compete with the enormous salaries being paid to entertainers in the gambling capital of the world. With business dropping off and expenses increasing, Hover filed for bankruptcy and closed Ciro's in January 1958.
Two years later, Frank Sennes, owner of the Moulin Rouge nightclub in the former Earl Carroll Theatre, further east on Sunset Boulevard, acquired Ciro's and re-opened it. Ciro's continued to do well and feature top entertainers. In 1961, Sennes decided to rename the venue “Le Crazy Horse” after the famous Crazy Horse Revue from Paris. After just a few months, the club was taken over by Paul Raffles and Bill Doheny who re-established the Ciro’s name in February 1967. Less than six months later, it was again renamed Spectrum 2000. In the early 1970s, pioneering disc jockey/record producer Art Laboe acquired the club and named it "Art Laboe's”. A couple of years later, the location was acquired by Sammy and Mitzie Shore who opened “The Comedy Store”. Mitzie operated the club throughout the 1970s and 80s as a new population began to enjoy the Strip. The Comedy Store remains in operation today.
