@anyfight | Riff
They have a baby.
Even the thought of that doesn't feel quite real yet, even if her body is screaming at her that it very much is and that it isn't going to let her forget any time soon. But that all fades into the background when she looks at their little girl, with her tiny little fingers and toes, with her little nose wrinkle that is already the absolute double of her daddy's, the few sparse curls of hair on her head. Their little Nellie, so small and sweet and entirely theirs. How far they've come from those messy teenagers who'd run around the West Side, sneaking kisses and going to dances. They're a family now.
Nellie's fast asleep in her little crib, and Velma can't quite help but just stand and watch her for a moment, how peaceful she is. For now, anyway, she's already proven herself to have quite the set of lungs when she puts her mind to it, but she also seems to be relatively easily soothed, so it's not so bad. A smile slips across her lips when she feels arms slip around her waist, and with a soft hum she leans back a little, letting her head rest against Riff's shoulder ever so lightly.
"She looks so sweet, don't she?"

"Surprised he hasn't quit because of all of his health concerns. Any time he has to chase any of the fellas down, he ends up bent double tryin' to get his breath back." Krupke is a truly unique being, but at least he's more tolerable than Schrank. And he's helped her out once or twice, even if there's nothing he's been able to do about the bruises or the yelling. Schrank...well, she doubts he really gives a damn about any of them at the end of the day. He's more concerned with looking good to his superiors then figuring out why there are so many issues in the first place.
The feud between Karen and Action is practically legendary, and Velma watches each update with interest. Action has no qualms about hitting a girl, kept in check by Riff most of the time, but Karen takes little issue with starting fights and it's not uncommon for someone to have to intervene. "Yeah, Rhonda would probably get all weepy. I really don't know what she sees in him." Mouthpiece might be a little dopey sometimes but at least he's harmless, and he dotes on her too, which always makes her feel like a princess.
velma is a good girl and karen will never admit to how much she appreciates her. the last thing she wants is for a good girl like velma to end up like a girl like her. it helps that velma has an excellent sense of humor. not that karen says that anyone who taunts action has a good sense of humor, but it helps. ' pretty sure that guy would rather get fired than go within seven feet of action. surprised he hasn't quit yet just so he doesn't have to deal with any of us. '
she rolls her eyes. ❝ he got so little smarts i don't think it would even occur to him to ask the wizard of oz for brains. he's lucky to have me around, really. at least i won't kill him for his stupidity. ❞ not that she would admit it either, but karen doesn't want rhonda's heart to break. she couldn't kill her guy -- even if her guy is action. just goes to show how kind she can be. ( which the thought of makes her laugh. ) ❝ i hope he knows that. ❞

Please share some fav frelma moments or headcanons? The fandom is so quiet ahaha
Sure!
Canon from the books trilogy (spoilers duh) (shot out to my friend Clei for getting me the books)
1) When Daphne makes Velma accidentally admit she has a crush on Fred and her reaction is just 'Damn Velma I didn't know you were so traditional'
2) When they dance together in Shaggy's house in the second book
3) Fred shamelessly flirting by touching her hair at school and Velms' almost heart attack.
4) Really, Velma's pining in the books is delicious.
5) The almost kiss in the third book.
6) When Fred almost dies in that fire and Velma just starts to cry out of pure relief when she sees him alive
7) Fred telling the journalists next thing he's doing is asking 'the girl he likes' out when he leaves hospital.
8) Their last scene together at the end. Which lives rent free on my head. I even wrote a little continuation/expansion of that scene in a drabble.
(Overall, the books aren't perfect. The focus is Daphne and Velma's friendship and that means too little focus on Shaggy and Freddie. But it was absolutely worth it. It was like the best Frelma fanfic but actually canon in its verse. Clinging to those books forever)
Honorific mentions of other versions: the "DORKY CHICKS LIKE YOU TURN ME ON TOO" line in the live action (lmfao) (Linda Cardellini and Freddie Prinze's chemistry was awesome), Fred going all the way to show her he appreciates everything she does in Be Cool Scooby Doo, and their scenes together in The Mystery Begins. Also every moment they share the screen in 'Mystery Incorporated: Welcome to Coolsville'. That version of the characters was the best one in recent years.
..
Headcanons now:
1) Has anyone watched that animated short horror video parodying the totally awful Velma show? The one with eldritch monster Scooby? Yeah they're together the next time Scooby reboots reality. Both of them are aware of what's going on and try to scape the time loop (confusing if you don't know the story of the video 'Velma Meets The Original Velma' on YouTube, plz watch it)
2) Moving on to greener grasses, eventually they have twin boys, Ricky and Roger (named after Fred and Shaggy). Obviously Daphne and Shaggy are the godparents.
3) Shaggy let's them adopt 3 puppies from the Doo family years in the future.
4) Scrappy lived with them for some time. Velma was the only one who could boss him around. Fred spoiled him.
5) Velma sends him food to his work out of nowhere because sometimes she's sure he's forgotten to eat. He does the same plus flowers. Both of them are right: they forget to have dinner. Shaggy never shuts up about it.
6) (I usually go with Archeologist!Fred and Astronomer!Velms. They travel a lot) (The kids are homeschooled until they can leave for a boarding school)
7) Ricky and Roger are mama boys
8) Fred does the taxes. Velms always forgets.
9) Shaggy is a chef (duh) and Daphne a private detective and they're never too far away. Their kid is a little older than the twins but they hang out a lot. Sometimes Velma refers to Daphne as 'her sister' so the boys don't figure out Daphne isn't their 'actual aunt' until they're older.
10) Velma has a photo of him on her wallet. Fred is the little spoon.
#Pfff I'm always on my frelma train#All I need is a little push and I'll write endlessly about those dorks#Also watch Welcome To Coolsville they're everything there#And read the books they're totally worth it#Frelmas fandom is small but dedicated and my favorite place#Eventually I always come back to Scooby Doo#Bury me with the Frelma books in the coffin#I also ship the other 3 combinations but Frelma was the first one so it has a special place#scooby doo#Daphne and velma trilogy#Daphne and velma the Vanishing Girl#Daphne and Velma Dark Deception#Daphne and Velma Buried Secrets#I'll always thank C for getting me the last book#Frelma#velma dinkley#fred jones#shaphne

So uh… this post I made 2 years ago has almost 100 notes and is still getting them which is pretty cool….. but it sucks so I redrew it. This time the characters are directly from the movie rather than a mix of the broadway revival and the movie. (I’m sorry Joel Grey I love you)

Her knowledge of the legal world is strictly limited to the few little snippets she's read in newspapers and magazines, and the fact that she knows, in general, that lawyers are expensive as hell. Far beyond anything she could ever afford in a million years. She can just about afford to keep the boys fed and in clothing that actually at least somewhat fits them. And just about at that because they're growing like weeds and it seems that every other week they're coming to her with a piece of clothing that no longer fits, and there's only so many times she can let a hem down. Jacob's stuff can be passed down to the twins, but there's only so much of that and two of them which complicates things even further.
"You don't have to do that...I can't repay you." Maybe it comes with growing up poor, but Velma's always been wary of favors, even when they come from people she trusts, like Johanna. Favors are nice, but they can be used against you all too easily, and she's never been fond of being in somebody else's debt. And yet at the same time, she'd do anything to get the boys out of that place, to somewhere safe where she knows she doesn't have to make sure they lock their bedroom door before they sleep.
@cannotfly
the connection she has to the legal world isn't one she's necessarily proud of. johanna didn't earn it; she was thrust into that life after her parents . . . she doesn't think of them. though, in this circumstance, her eyes take on an almost mischievous twinkle. while she didn't like talking to the judge and tried to stay as far away from him as possible, she picked up on things. subtle details on cases. hints of trials related to harmed children. ( the judge tried to keep her as far away from those as possible -- to protect her, he once claimed. it isn't easy hearing about all the horrible ways someone so young can be treated. if she remembers correctly those were the kinds of things he mentioned right before he -- ) but contacts. lawyers.
❝ not if you have the right people defending you. they don't care if they have the truth: you just need the right people saying the right things. ❞ johanna taps her pen at the sheet of paper in front of her. she doesn't quite like the typewriters in the office. she was never taught now and has no idea how she got this job without that particular skill. pen and paper work just as well. ❝ i'll find you someone. ❞ the judge's files are somewhere. she hadn't burned all of them. just in case. there had been a few witnesses at fogg's, after all. despite knowing that she'll have to present herself as that man's ward, if it helps velma get her little brothers to somewhere safe, it's worth it. she can swallow her nausea. ❝ i'm sure they owe a few favors so you don't have to worry about paying. i can, if there's any issue. ❞

@bitmorerouge asked: “I didn't know who else to turn to.” (Graziella to Velma)
For once, Velma has the apartment to herself.
Her father is out, at work supposedly, and he's not likely to be back until the bars close. The boys are all out with their friends and she has no idea where her mother's gotten but it's likely to be late before she's back as well. God knows, Velma can't even remember the last time there was such a concept as a family dinner in their home, at least not one that involved the whole family anyway. But she's not going to complain too much about the peace and quiet for now, not when her best friend clearly needs her.
"Come on in, Graz, ain't no one home." Admittedly, it's a bit of a mess. There'd been another argument last night, and she's only just finished sweeping up the broken glass (and inwardly she hopes that her skirts cover where she's wound the thin gauze around her knee). Ignoring all that, she pulls Graziella over to the somewhat dilapidated couch, sitting her down and perching opposite her. "Talk to me, what is it?"

I had a dream where some leaks for a new bad animated series came out; and people on twitter (instead of making "normal" memes about it) made fake thumbnails for video essays discussing the series as if it was already out, and saying stuff like "wow This video really gets the point of why the series sucks" Yours had the "looks at camera confused" sprite and the fact that you didn't make a new drawing for the thumbnail nor used the old circle one in the corner was the thing that tipped me off about the whole thing being fake
I swear i have normal dreams sometimes where i don't go full Poirot over out of season april fools jokes
#C-Puff answers#Chose a title I knew I wouldn't use when the real video comes out#But I WAS very tempted by the good old classic 'Electric Boogaloo'#But I am thinking more 'Somehow Velma has returned'#or 'Velma Part 2: Attack of the Mindy"

"A waste."
The words fall from her lips without much need for thought. Because it's the truth, isn't it? Love or not, it doesn't change the fact that three people are dead, three young people who had their entire lives ahead of them, who might have had the chance to make something of themselves. The world at their feet and now they were gone and never coming back, and the mixture of grief and anger and fear has twisted so many of those left behind into unrecognisable creatures.
This girl...she seems to Velma almost foolishly optimistic, but maybe she's just also desperately trying to find something to cling to in order to make sense of this whole horrible situation. Velma has long since given up on hope, it was beaten out of her when she was only small, and no matter how she's tried, she's not yet been able to draw it back.
"A waste of love and a waste of life." Oh how she wishes she could just turn back the clock, that she could do something that might change how everything turned out, even though she knew in her heart that Riff had always been too stubborn to stray from a path once he had decided on it.
there's a moment that she's seen described in books that she's read, a moment when you know somebody is going to be a big part of your life, even if you're not sure in what way exactly. that's exactly what she feels when she looks at the gringa as she speaks, although she doesn't allow herself to linger on that feeling for too long. instead, eyebrows are furrowing at velma's words. maybe she was foolish; consuelos siblings sure had called her that many times, but she didn't mind that too much. she always tried to see the best in the worst whenever she could, even if that proved incredibly hard to do sometimes. even if that proved incredibly hard to do recently. "then what does it make it?" it's not a challenge, and consuelo sure hopes it doesn't sound like one, but she's curious down to her bones. she wants to try to understand everything, to know more, although another part of her thinks that may be a desire she'd soon regret if she did.

trying to get over myself and just use accessibility settings in games if they make it more fun for me to play (vs. sitting there and going "well am i blind Enough for this setting. did they make it for me??")
#dis.txt#guy with one blind eyeball who is legally required to wear glasses/contacts and has Velma Moments: am i blind enough for video game setting#even if i had total vision loss i would still question myself like that so. i've decided it doesn't matter!#(i've seriously considered getting a green / low vis cane for places w/ super uneven pavement. so the local city w/ no funding basically)#(because even if i don't need it 24/7 it's hurting no one to buy a thing which will help me out sometimes. i'm fine. it's okay)#(and b/c i'm so used to getting asked. yes i am fine enough to drive as long as i'm wearing my glasses. it's just tripping on curbs...)

If there's anybody Velma can trust, she knows that it's her friends, Grazie especially. Grazie's been there for her for years, has taught her more than her own mother has, and is always willing to lend an ear and talk things over. She'd be lost without her, without that helping hand and safe space and gentle friendship that she provides.
"I'll be back in just a moment." It won't take long to grab the boys, and it doesn't, though the twins grumble a little at being broken out of whatever game they'd been playing to make the short trip. They'll get over it though, they're still only little and thank god they don't really understand most of what goes on at home. It's Jacob she worries a little more about. He gets what's going on, she knows that much, but he's only ten. It's her job to protect them. At least it isn't hard to get them settled.
"Thanks again, Grazie, really," Velma says softly, watching the boys roll an old ball between them across the floor, "Everything...just seems like it's been more hectic lately."
@aintdumb
the sight of bruises still makes her frown. geez louise, will that creep ever get tired of beating up on his daughter? there's nothing for grazie to do about it except offer velma a place to sleep for the night and some ice for those bruises.
she gives a small smile. ❝ i know. ❞ she's not, not really. despite the large ego that she's built up about herself and she presents to her friends, graziella can't help but feel like an imposter at times. other girls who actually understand what she's going through should be helping her out. they can give better advice than she can. empathize better than she can. grazie was blessed with a daddy who left early and a ma whose slowly drinking herself to death. she got lucky, but velma didn't. why couldn't velma have gotten lucky? why couldn't it be grazie that's going through this?
❝ now go get the kids, vel. don't want them in there any longer than they gotta be. ❞ just look at what happened to you.

HBO's Velma feels like a good case of how not to write a jerk protagonist, or how to write a jerk character in general.
