actively losing my mind rn because we’re coming up on a year since I played Edna in hairspray and I’m still getting hit with waves of Post Show Depression. HOW. I cannot exist normally and haven’t been able to since last october because I love her so much

Divine as Edna Turnblad in “Hairspray” (1988)
The New York Times said of Divine’s 1980s films: "Those who could get past the unremitting weirdness of Divine's performance discovered that the actor/actress had genuine talent, including a natural sense of comic timing and an uncanny gift for slapstick."

“You’re Timeless To Me” from Hairspray is so fucking cute. Like y’all have no idea how in love with it I am. There’s no reason for it to be that good. Christopher and John ate that up too.

Ok y'all, important question:
Just curious cause I rewatched Hairspray recently, and I have no perception of whether people thought John Travolta did the role justice, or any reaction beyond 'JoHn TrAvoLtA PLAyED wOmAn😲❗️'

ironing appreciation post
i cant think of a single thing rn thats better than ironing
it's so therapeutic to just smooth creases out of stuff, especially ironing pleats or collars so they look sharp and neat and gorgeouss
like i just feel very edna turnblad core
it's also just very lovely and metaphorical, like it's a lot more difficult to iron a crease out than to make a new one, and it takes a lot of care and diligence to properly press something out
anyway ironing is pretty cool :)

As a kid watching hairspray, while I always thought that Penny and Seaweed were the better couple, I really wanted a relationship like Tracy and Link. Mainly because I did (and still do) see myself in Tracy. Now that im an adult who is getting married in a year I would give anything to have a relationship like Edna and Wilbur. Them singing about how no matter how much time passes and how they may change they will always be it for each other. It gets me every time.
