I agree with you on there being nowhere else like France, there always seems to be a bit of magic there, you know? And I agree that it feels like everyone's home, which is why I know so many people visit there. She was happy, but then I left to go to New York, and she was mad at me again, but now that I'm back in LA, we're good. And I gave her even more treats this time around and lots of belly scratches, which she's been in heaven over! Well, I had to push it back because of the Sydney trip, but we'll be going to Switzerland! I've already got all the paperwork out of the way, and we just need to travel there! As someone that feels like she's always living vicariously through friends and family, I get it. But I love that you're getting to take it easy and live lowkey. I agree with you about there being no better selfie, though as a girl who loves her Italy, I've taken a few selfies in front of the Leaning Tower of Pisa that were pretty golden. I can understand that, and I think we all go through a time where we're not humble, especially while we're young. And there's nothing wrong with an old soul, my mom has always told me that I'm one! I went to the shelter today! Though as much as I wanted to bring home all the dogs, you might need to go back with me so I can bring one more home. But I rescued this gorgeous girl and named her Valentina! So far she and Etta are getting along so well. As someone that loves to make people happy, I love that in other people as well. And thank you! I'm a huge Etta James fan, and it just really fit with my girl.

I'm so glad you're glad you went. There really is nowhere else like France, especially Paris, and I find it has an odd capability to make homesickness go away. It feels like everyone's home, you know? I'm sure Etta was happy to be reunited with you, even with the half an hour of ignoring... thank goodness for treats, what would we do without them? Other than belly scratches, there's no better way to win a pup over. Where are you planning on going?! ...if I'm allowed to ask? I'm mostly going to be stateside for a little while so I'm going to live vicariously through my friends and family, much as I am grateful to take it easy and live lowkey. There really is no selfie like an Eiffel Tower selfie, though, as iconic as oh, I don't know, the Leaning Tower of Pisa? I try to be humble, there was a time when I wasn't but I was also young and naive and had a too much of a good thing and took advantage of it. Now, I feel like an old soul. Contented. I wish humans forgave as quickly as dogs, and if you ever need someone to go to the shelter with I would happily help you find a new doggo! Oh, thank you, lovely. Making people happy makes me happy. PS, did I mention I love the name Etta for a dog? What a classy pup!

i can agree with that — and i never felt more sure about vanessa, i thought i was with malcom but i'm confident in my relationship with vanessa. thanks, i am too. it is and it's why i'll always be so thankful for acting. i've got a place in LA with my girlfriend and we're having the best time together. looking forward to the holidays together as well.

AKA

Nghĩa 1: PIC có nghĩa tiếng Anh là “Person in Charge” và được dịch sang tiếng Việt là “Người phụ trách”

Nếu bạn đang trong 1 dự án, chiến dịch hoặc đơn giản là đi làm, thì từ PIC này có nghĩa là phụ trách công việc, phần việc nào đó.

Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen

In Green Book, scheduled to have its world premiere at TIFF, Danish-American actor Viggo Mortensen plays a working-class bouncer who is forced to chauffeur a classical pianist (Moonlight’s Mahershala Ali) through the deep South, combatting racism and danger along the way. Oscar winner Ali was one of TIFF’s breakout stars of 2016.

Robert Pattinson

Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson stars in French filmmaker Claire Denis’ High Life, playing a criminal sent into outer space. It’s the film’s world premiere, which means the chances of everyone’s favourite vampire making an appearance are high. Pattinson was last here in 2014 with then-girlfriend FKA Twigs.(And who knows, maybe this time around he’ll bring Suki Waterhouse.)

Jonah Hill

Regarded as one of the funniest people in film and television, Jonah Hill will make his directorial debut at TIFF with Mid90s, a coming-of-age comedy about a teenage boy who gets in with a neighbourhood skateboard crew. Hill was last at the festival in 2011 and is known to crowd-source restaurant recommendations.

Matthew McConaughey

Over the years, Matthew McConaughey has had some legendary TIFF moments—most notably in 2001, when he leapt from his seat during a premiere to tend to a woman in the audience who had collapsed. He might be back in town this year for White Boy Rick, a mystery drama about a blue-collar dad (played by McConaughey) and his teenage son, who happens to be a hustler, FBI informant and drug kingpin. The film is set in Detroit in the 1980s and based on a true story.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan

In the upcoming emotional drama Wildlife, Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal star as a couple whose marriage crumbles after they move to Montana. Both actors were at TIFF last year, though Mulligan was a bit more low-key than puppy-lover and Terroni devotee Gyllenhaal (who also stars alongside Joaquin Phoenix, John C. Reilly and Riz Ahmed in the dark comedy The Sisters Brothers, set to have its North American premiere at the festival).

Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet

Chalamet was at TIFF last year for the Call Me By Your Name premiere, but that was before he became a heartthrob. This year, he stars alongside Steve Carell in Beautiful Boy, a new drama about a family coping with their son’s addiction to methamphetamine, and he’ll probably be swarmed by throngs of teenage girls wherever he goes.

Viola Davis, Daniel Kaluuya, Liam Neeson, Jacki Weaver, Colin Farrell and Michelle Rodriguez

Steve McQueen’s Widows (co-written by Gone Girl‘s Gillian Flynn) has gotten some good press since it was announced, so we expect a decent turnout from the cast. In this female-led heist thriller, four women find themselves in debt after their criminal husbands are killed.

TYPING IN PRACTICE POST #8: LADY GAGA

Hello, everyone, I sat down in my easy chair this evening, and I was going to finish up two typings, which will likely be posts 9 and 10. But I also dug out biographies and autobiographies of other people I have I'm planning to type. I just got sucked into my Lady Gaga biography, and knew some stuff already from a previous attempt to type her using the biography, and was able to finish typing her in this sitting.

Disclaimer: I know Lady Gaga has a persona that certainly belongs in the EF camp, but I'm going to be bold, and not type her persona, but rather, the person behind it.

Lady Gaga, who's real name is Stefani Germanotta, was brought up in an affluent neighborhood in New York City. She learned early that she had musical skills and theater skills. She studied both music and theater diligently, using traditional tried and true methodologies. Lady Gaga was quoted in the biography, stating that that's a unique thing that sets her apart from her musical competition- her tried and true traditional music and theater education. She also said being as educated as she is, in general, sets her apart. Yet, at the same time, she likes to put fresh and new twists on the tried and true old school stuff she likes. Without further ado, I will tell the process I went through to type Lady Gaga.

Step 1: Last summer (2021), when I read through the biography, I was just starting to learn Jung's definitions of the functions. I saw both D (Dominance) traits in Lady Gaga, in that she kept on plugging away, being determined, and being persistent; and S (Steadiness) traits such as self knowledge, liking routine, and maintaining the status quo. So from that, I was able to conclude that Lady Gaga was on the D-S axis of DISC, or the Te-Fi axis of Jung. I let the typing sit there, and I worked on other typings.

Step 2: A few days ago, I was talking to someone on discord about typings I had yet to finish for typing in practice. I mentioned that I still had to complete Lady Gaga, and that the next step was to determine whether Lady Gaga was D or S. So the first thing I did tonight, when I opened the book, was to look for instances of D and S. I found overwhelming amounts of S and significant amounts of D, and was able to determine that both letters are above 50/50 for her. And with no significant I or C traits present, I was able to assign Lady Gaga to the DISC profile S/D, which is the only DISC profile with only S and D above 50/50. At this point , we know IxFx so far, for letters

Step 3: There are 2 MBTI types that can get S/D results in DISC. S/D is actually the home profile for the fully differentiated Si-f (ISFP), and contains all the ISFP variants. S/D also contains 2 of the variants of Fi-n (INFJ). So, you guessed it, the next step was to identify Lady Gaga's perceiving axis. As I mentioned in the summary of Lady Gaga, she exhibits both sensation and intuition in the following ways: her object focus (sensation) is very old school and traditional. She likes to use her objects in the tried and true, archetypal way. On the other hand , her ideas focus (intuition) is new and fresh. If you've studied Jung's functions long enough, you learn that Lady Gaga's archetypal emphasis on sensation is found in people with Si. Therefore the intuition, to be the pole, must be Ne. Therefore Lady Gaga's perceiving function axis is Si-Ne. At this point, we know ISFx for the letters.

Step 4: So now that we know Lady Gaga's perceiving axis is Si-Ne, let's take a look back at the types I said get S/D results: we have ISFP and INFJ. INFJ has a Ni-Se perceiving axis, the opposite of Lady Gaga's. So we have a type identification...

I thankfully enjoyed myself a whole lot, and even though I missed Etta, I had so much fun in Paris, and I'm glad that I went. Oh, the fact that they're so cute is why it's such a hardship to leave them as well, right? And I love that you have no real theme to their names, that you just named them with whatever you were feeling in that moment. I will say that the treats did go pretty far with Etta, she ignored me for about a half hour, but the treats warmed her up, and soon enough she was cuddling me! I think I'm planning a little vacation soon, and I know for sure that she'll be coming with me, and I'm going to book something that's dog friendly for sure! I also love the idea of us taking selfies in front of the Eiffel Tower, so that might be calling me to go back to Paris soon! Oh, I can imagine how much they're your babies, and I love that you more than likely spoil them as much as I do mine. I had a feeling you'd be just as humble as I imagined you would be, but you're more than welcome for the kind words. And I will say that's one of the best things about dogs, they forgive quickly. As good of a dog as Etta is, she makes me want to get another because I worry sometimes she's lonely. I figured you couldn't speak much about the album, and I look forward to when it comes out. But I listened to the single and loved it so much, your music always makes me so happy!

That's the main thing, isn't it? You really do need to be enjoying yourself otherwise it's all been for nothing. It's a lot of sadness, Laura, I'm not going to lie, and I'm sure you know just what it's like. They really are the cutest and that doesn't help either, sometimes people ask if there was ever a theme to their name but, nope, just whatever I was feeling in the moment! One is enough for the mom guilt, I assure you, but the treats will go far. Even a dog can appreciate fancy French cuisine, in my experience. It is so much better if you can find a dog-friendly hotel and a dogsitter for when you need to be out on the town, and worth it for those selfies in front of the Eiffel Tower. Maybe next time? They do... exactly as well as you imagine they would, aka not well at all. They're Mama's babies, and they act like it when they don't get their way. Ah, you're too kind! David Bowie was an icon, I'm just another singer who got lucky, but I appreciate your kind words. As for missing Etta, you'll be reunited soon and she'll forget you were ever gone in 0.5 seconds flat, once you give her the treats. That's the joy of dogs. I can't speak too much about my album but I can tell you that a single was posted today if you want to give it a watch/listen.
