what a lot of people seem to miss when analyzing c!gem is her savior complex and how prevalent it really is
think of every single player series she has, always helping a village/villagers; afterlife and hc s9 transforming a village was also a large part of those series. in afterlife she purposely triggered a raid to be officially "hero of the village" also justifying the raid through unconnected things (a random blue moon) afterwards the village is actively on fire from her and she comments on how a few iron golems probably died while still calling it a victory (afrterlife ep 10)
it even extends outside of npcs. the most notable example being in esmp s1. she stood by fwip and sausage no matter what, but when jimmy asks for her help, gem doesn't do anything right then and there. instead, she has a private meeting with jimmy to ensure him that she can help him (esmp s1 ep 8). with xornoth, she was one of the biggest helps tracking information about them, even if it was detrimental to her own well-being (an example being getting kidnapped in ep 13). saving the ender dragon, saving sausage, saving shrub, saving joey, "saving" scott. giving scott unwanted help is what led her to be partly corrupted by xornoth, and sticking so physically close to fwip is what made crystal cliffs one of the most vulnerable empires to the rapture
you could also argue that this trait appears in esmp s2, though less obviously, because in lore, she is the one who is producing the majority of golden carrots. another example within this series is her religion. in the episode, she introduces it in (ep 11) with the goal of it to 1. look cool, 2. ensure everyone is safe from phantoms. she states over and over again how the church/religion is to help the people. while none of this is malicious and doesn't harm anyone, it exemplifies their need to provide
in secret life, the way she keeps, purposely or not, being the leader of armies; though the ender dragon fight holds the most weight here because she chose to do that. after the boogeyman apocalypse, she outright states, "i seem to be a bit of a hero on the sever" (ep 8 7:07). actively positioning herself in such a way to prove to anyone listening or to herself that she was in the right for murder basically everyone for zero benefit to the victims. cleo even points out how she will have to turn on pearl/the mounders eventually, but she refuses this notion because she believes that she can save everybody

Conclusion, the Masters are faeries, probably. At least as far as Caoimhe is concerned.

me: Siffrin uses the phrase "full of shit" in a humorously self-deprecating way in canon. So at least one culture does straight up use "shit" as an insult.
me: ...I've been setting up Poteria as focusing on the arts/celebrating beauty as opposed to Vaugardians celebrating Change. So maybe their curses would be things that are naturally repulsive to people. And Siffrin liking their plays has probably spent more time in there and might have picked up. some things.
...:D
The door opens to reveal a man around Odile's age, to guess from the wrinkles lining his face, with medium dark hair just beginning to be flecked with aged light.  His mustache twitches as he takes in both Odile and Mirabelle, and then his eyes go wide with surprise and horror.  He turns away from both of them, swearing.  "Oh, shit.  Piss and shit."
Odile grins.  Why hide that she's enjoying this?  "Hello, Signore Vallario."

I wish there were more restaurants with affordable prix fixe or tasting menus. I would love for nice but not ridiculously fancy restaurants to basically say "here is what we're sure is good today, you can eat that or maybe one or two other things. Otherwise come back in 2-3 days and see if that's more interesting."

A memory prodded at Theon. In one of his rare curt letters, Lord Balon had written of his youngest brother going down in a storm, and turning holy when he washed up safe on shore. -Theon I, aCoK
this little glimpse of balon/theon's strained long-distance relationship kinda fascinates me now. can't believe i'm going to defend balon as a father to theon in any way, however small, but i feel like hindsight has kinda blinded fandom into thinking balon gave up theon for dead and gone the moment he gave him away as hostage. this also carries the underlying assumption that balon was always going to rebel again making theon's life already forfeit to him.
thing is, while balon undoubtedly called his banners before theon came home, that also coincided with robert and ned both being recently dead, making that 2nd war seem really opportunistic. as if the only thing balon learned from his first rebellion was that king robert was strong enough to defeat him, the only man capable of defeating the great balon. so when that enemy dies, balon's crown is all but won in his mind, and with the death of ned too he could use his next war to take revenge on the (dead) man who took his son from him. maybe with robert's lifestyle he could have hoped to outlive him despite being older than robert, but robert and ned together? that must have seemed like a miraculous chance straight from the drowned god himself, a chance to rise up and take revenge that it was his duty to take for his people, even if it meant risking the life of his youngest child who'd been gone for 10 years anyway.
but before all that, even if robert being still alive was the real deterrant keeping him from warring again, he was, in effect, not only keeping theon safe by paying the hostage-ransom of keeping the peace, he was also keeping up a bare minimum connection with theon through rare and curt correspondence updating him on family events like aeron getting born again (and i'm assuming that's also how theon knew what asha's ship was named). idt we should so easily ignore that this is a society which views kinslaying as a grave offense regardless of circumstances or personal feelings, and one which greatly values male heirs over female heirs. i doubt balon was so much a feminist girldad that he just switched 12yo asha into the son slot right away as soon as all her brothers were lost. imo it was more likely a gradual process done not so consciously as asha proved herself worthy growing up and theon's time in the north stretched on and on. all until such point as asha had achieved son status and only son status at that, (maybe also coinciding with alannys leaving him so he had even less reason to keep up with her baby boy?), and then theon could be written off as belonging to the enemy, no longer ironborn or a son of balon, so sanctity of greyjoy life no longer applied to him. (real ironborn greyjoy son already killed by darth greenlander theon, from a certain point of view.) only then could balon be a not-father to theon, not welcoming him back home or even giving him a chance to prove his loyalty by providing intelligence on the northerners and the lands they were about to invade. (which could have made balon's war plans a touch less stupid. see, it all comes back to criticizing him in the end.)
in fact, come to think of it, i wonder if one thing ned and balon had in common is just not thinking of the danger of theon being executed as a hostage, not taking ownership of that possibility bc it hadn't happened yet. and hey, if it ever did come to that they could each tell themselves it would be the other guy's fault really, i was just doing my duty to my king/as a king to all my proud people. and that meant their actions didn't have to be obviously at odds with ned's view of himself as a good man opposed to killing children or balon's view of himself as great greyjoy patriarch and victim of the greenlanders (who could ofc prevail against them all if given the right chance).

Something that really gets me about Round 6 is that the majority of the humans in the audience are children. Like, I cant help but feel that Alien Stage may be a place to throw away adults because theyve become more "undesirable"...

tagged by @eccaiia, thank you! Mayhem’s wrangled herself a bit larger of a role in the Valloroth redraft, and I really like this little bit with her being her usual chaotic self:

When all that could be done was done, Sorrow had him take everyone home. Not back to Voah’kasis, but home. “And I want you back once you’re done,” he said. “I’ll have need of you.” Excellence nodded. He finished gathering every K’zinla but Aspiration—who Sorrow hadn’t even asked to go, because he knew she’d refuse to—and set about his casting. It took some time for him to fully read his rather specific description of the entry-room he’d had constructed at the safehouse, but Sorrow didn’t begrudge him it; planar travel was best made with caution. At the last moment before he completed the incantation, just as flames were beginning to lick up around his feet, Mayhem leapt away from the group. Excellence had time only for a furious expression, and then all that was left was burning footprints in the dirt. “What part of go home was unclear?” Sorrow snapped at her. “You think I’m going to leave you two and the book-boy alone with a dragon on the loose?” “What exactly do you think you’re going to do to a dragon?” She patted her crossbow. “Shoot it.” Sorrow sighed, and rubbed at his temples. Valloroth itself didn’t give him migraines, but the little pieces of Infernus called Vetusak K’zinla certainly made every effort to.
