hard to yell about my dragons bc there's no content for them bc i haven't. made the content. but ough sunset and flechte have me insaneee like. sunset's mother, the queen, is dead, because flechte had to choose between saving sunset or saving the queen. the king in his anger condemns flechte to death for his failure. sunset can't grieve, she has to save flechte. she makes a plan, they escape, and she still can't grieve, they're on the run and it's the king leading the hunt on them both now, but flechte is her charge- both as a half-guardian and now as a rescue- and she wants him safe

and flechte is a gladiator but is also sunset's guard, saved years ago by the king. but he couldn't save the queen, he could only save the king's daughter. the one he's been dedicated to, the one he was told to guard, the one the queen told him to save at that moment. and the king who saved him now condemns him in the end after flechte has dedicated everything to him, the betrayal is eating flechte alive nearly as much as his failure but he can't focus on that, he and sunset are on the run

and ultimately it's just a constant inability to deal with it Now, it has to be Later, they just don't have the time or safety. and then they're found, and they have to kill the king, and after that. well. that leaves a lot to unpack for them both

but then all this to say. who is the one who kills the king in the end. which one saves the other this time. does flechte kill him, "fixing" the betrayal of condemnation but still killing the one who saved him. does he kill the father of the one he's been sworn to protect. or does sunset kill the king to save flechte the way he saved her. does she kill her own father after her mother is already dead and get that blood on her hands. or do they, somehow, both kill him and neither can know which one dealt the blow that ended it
