It was a newbie — that much was certain, by the sloppy kill and the bloodstains left behind. She wouldn't say the ancient ones were any smarter, the lack of heartbeat matched the quiet inside their brains. Anika had followed that particular one for a few days, ever since she stepped foot in this place. A quick scan around the town folk and the blood suckers stood out, as if she had a rader going tick, tick, tick.

Sharp blades remaind tucked away for now, yet the sharpness of her gaze traced feet that marched further into the forest, seeking shelter under a tick layer of darkness, as one should — especially when followed.

"They're not getting far. I mapped out that section of the woods." words spoken soft and low to her partner, "There's a trap further down that road." maybe they'd do them a favor and fall down without a push.

A teen. Anika could relate to that. It was why she didn't ask anything further. A gun has been shoved so quick in her hand, at the age of seventeen, that she barely even knew what to do with it. Knew where the trigger was, but that first time she fired, it almost flew out her grasp. It was silly now — the kind of innocence she had about her before. Hands clean, not stained with blood.

She nodded, shot the other a look that meant — fuck, if I don't know how that feels.

"Would I be out here, if I didn't?" ridiculous to even think about. Sure, she had her ego through the roof, when it came to her craft, but it wasn't because she was naturally good at all of this. Anika has been in more than a couple nasty situations, that could've ended with her sucked dry and left to rot on the side of the road. She learned — slowly, over the course of those twelve years. She learned how to study the fuckers — how to find a weakness.

The creature groaned, and whined helplessly and focused it's black eyes at the two. Limbs impaled, blood gushing through the wounds, he tried to jerk himself free. Failing to do so, he finally spoke. Begged to be spared, mentioned having someone to get back to — someone that had forced this on him.

Anika wouldn't listen, wouldn't bat an eyelid at the thing.

"Long enough." Soleil says - the same answer she always gives to anybody who asks the question. "Since I was a teen, at least." That's all the detail she's going to give up, preferring to leave the past where it belongs for now - distractions on the hunt are just that, and young or old, one cannot afford to slip up when hunting something that can ruin your life with a bite or move faster than a blink.

"You do homework on this?" She asks. Vampires are dangerous - probably the most dangerous night-stalkers, boasting the most varied set of powers and abilities, ranging from their physical fortitudes to their ability to corrupt and control the human mind. But not all of them are monsters - something she has had to learn over the course of her career - from the jump. She thinks of Reid as the the struggling nightstalker comes into view and she stops, pre-emptively putting a hand on one of the wooden stakes lining a holster around her hip.

I would like some teasers about that Xander - Soleil father-daughter support fic please 💖

HEHEHE that'd be my pleasure~~!! i'll put a couple things under the cut c:

the fanart nattie drew for me is from their c-support!! the gist of it is that xander's employing a similar punishment to soleil as he did to laslow for excessive flirting :3 but as they're working in xander's office, they both end up falling asleep, hence the little scene in the art <3

the rest of the support is about soleil lying through her teeth about how she totally isn't flirting anymore so she doesn't get in trouble again, and xander completely seeing through her lie and doing a dad-thing of trying to make her come clean herself instead of directly calling her out !!
