How many works do you have on AO3?

between my two accounts and including all my anonymous fics, i have published 115 fics since 2014. if we're only counting ones visible on the residenthesitant and hesitantresident pseuds, 58. 

What's your total AO3 word count?

Again, counting both accounts, it's 630,517 words total. On RH alone, a whopping 498,925. jesus christ. i did not think it was that much.

What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Do you respond to comments?

I try to respond to comments, but have had difficulty in the past. most often i do because i want to talk about behind the scenes stuff.

What's the happiest ending you've written?

I prefer happy/bittersweet endings,  but I think my happiest is world so close, since it basically has a fairy-tale happily ever after to it.

Do you write crossovers?

Nah. I'll do AUs, and maybe there's some crossover due to the nature of the MCYT fandom, but I largely keep characters in their own casts. It feels weird to put them elsewhere.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

No, but someone did delete a nice comment once, which was kinda weird lol

Do you write smut? What kind?

i did kinktober last year! if "toxic fucked up manipulative puppetduo sex" is what this means by "kind," thats generally what i do. i uh. i wrote 1/3rd of the fics in that tag. so.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not officially, but I joke that the writers of the Homestuck Epilogues stole part of one of my fics to write about how dirk felt about his own death. The fact that they read exactly the same means that I Understand the character ig.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes! World So Close started a collaboration with my beloved friend Jinx but largely fell to me when they got too busy. I also have a couple Frantic Fanfic collabs and a co-written zine piece coming up.

What's your all-time favorite ship?

Very hard question. I don't think I have an All Time Favorite out of all the fandoms I've been in, but if we go by fav per fandom, they'd have to be dirkjake (homestuck), a rotating selection of c!eret ships though I am extremely fond (understatement) of dreameret (dsmp), shadowgast (critical role: mighty nein), zoethian (yogscast), and a PC/PC romance from my dnd game.

What's a WIP you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

sighs. For Every Failing Sun. it says its marked as complete because i have the rest of the plot in not!fic form, but the fact of the matter is that i dont think i'm gonna get around to completing it unless the danger days hyperfixation grabs me again.

What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue all the way. if i dont have a character voice right, i will simply perish

What are your writing weaknesses?

i will use the same words and phrases within two paragraphs of each other and then miss it in the edit, and i'm a fiend with an em dash. take those things away from meeeeeeeeeee

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

this one doesn't really come up for me, though i get a little annoyed when it's worked in very clunkily. dark shout out to 14 yr old me doing this with a tumblr snk fic.

What's the first fandom you wrote for?

Unofficially, Peter and the Starcatcher when i was 7, hand-written. Officially, House of Anubis on the nickelodeon message boards circa 2011.

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

I want to maybe write a perc’ahlia fic sometime soon? Depends on how the mood takes me? Like, I've officially now written for critical role, but perc’ahlia seems like the next step. Only took 8 years of being in the fandom for the blorbofication of Percy de rolo to happen. It's kinda funny, I've been a fan of shadowgast for so long but have never felt the need to write for them. It just hasn't felt necessary. 

What's your favorite fic you've written?

this one's easy. It almost certainly has to be bring a little rust, slow the gears, which i, coincidentally, wrote for TJ for a fic event! genuinely one of my favorite things i've ever done, i'm extremely proud of it and it has some of my favorite c!eret dynamics at the forefront. OTHERWISE, it'd have to be Le Roman de la Couronne, which is a c!punz/c!eret courtly love au, which really just means i spent 33k infodumping about medieval and elizabethan literary tradition, with blorbos on top of it.

I forgot that not everyone has ao3 so I'm posting this here too

Most believe that being immortal would likely be the greatest thing in the world.

Eret believes immortality to be a curse; the worst thing bestowed upon him.

Especially when he finds himself falling in love with a mortal.

When Eret first saw you after the first L’manberg war, he believed you to be one of the most beautiful people he’d ever seen. He felt like it was love at first sight albeit you not seeing him yet. And when you did, you had looked at him like he was the universe and those tell tale butterflies erupted in his stomach. But, when he tried to speak to you, Wilbur came in and pulled you away, telling you of how Eret had betrayed L’manberg. Eret saw the way you’d frown and tried to look back at him, but Wilbur forced you to face forward and to not look back.

It wasn’t long before Eret found another chance to speak to you. You were putting up Pog2020 posters and right as Eret opened his mouth to greet you, Tommy swooped in and pulled you away while glaring at Eret. Sure, he was getting frustrated with the president and vice president for taking you away, but he wouldn’t allow his frustrations to let out.

The first time he’s finally able to speak to you, he’s unbelievably happy.

It’s the night before the election when Eret spots you heading inside Niki’s bakery, no Wilbur or Tommy in sight. You’re not in your L’manberg uniform for once. Instead in a scarlet sweater that looks far too big on you and black ripped jeans. You look just as beautiful as the first day Eret saw you. But when do you not? Everything about you is radiant. Eret wants nothing more to tell you that.

Entering the bakery behind you, Niki spots him first and smiles widely, waving at him. “Good evening Eret!” Eret swears his heart skips a beat when you swivel around to face him, your face brightening at the sight of him. Those butterflies come back as Niki introduces you to him and he finally learns your name.

It became his favorite word.

“It’s lovely to finally meet you, your majesty,” You smile up at him and his heart stammers, pounding harshly against his sternum. You look ethereal under the lighting of the bakery.

“Just Eret is fine,” he informs, looking down at you with a fond smile. “It’s lovely to finally meet you as well.”

That night, he spends hours talking to you, even as Niki kicks the two of you out so she could close up. Eret learns all that he can about you; your favorite color, your favorite story, and your favorite flower (taking note to get you a bouquet one day). He learns that Wilbur and Tommy are your adoptive brothers, and so much more. He walks you back to L’manberg and leaves you with a kiss on the cheek. He swears he sees your cheeks flush.

It’s when Wilbur is killed by Punz whilst being exiled from L’manberg with Tommy that Eret sees you cry for the first time. He hates it, he despises the tears you shed because of your heart aching for your brothers. Eret never wants to see you cry again and if he does, he’ll be right there for you. He desires to be your emotional support, the shoulder for you to cry on. The person you go looking for if you need help or even just a hug.

Since the beginning of Manberg, the two of you spend every day together. Him falling deeper in love with you. Eret adores every look you give him. Every loving glance, every look of admiration and adoration. He loves the way your cheeks flush whenever he pulls you into a hug, or kisses your cheek, or “subtly” holds your hips, sometimes attempting to hold your hand.

The festival is when Eret sees your first death. You and Tubbo, shot by Technoblade on Schlatt’s orders. Eret is mad at himself for not being able to help you. But he’s right there when you respawn, and he holds you close to him, telling you how beautiful you are despite the burn scars that cover your back from protecting Tubbo. He wanted so badly to kiss you right then and there, to declare his love for you.

But, he doesn’t.

Being with you makes him forget that the world is a shitty place. A place filled with war and hatred. Because being with you, he feels as though there is peace in the hatred, that there’s a calm within the storm.

You’re his light in the darkness.

Eret watches as you fall in love with him too. He watches as you start initiating the touches. He noticed it rather quickly, in fact. When you would hug him for longer than usual. When he would catch you staring at him with wide, loving eyes. When you would slip your hand in his, claiming you just wanted the warmth of his hand. When you would kiss his cheek closer to his lips, but not quite there yet--swearing it to be an accident.

It’s the night before the Pogtopia and Manberg war when the two of you confess your love.

Eret’s arm is around your waist, holding you close to his side as his gaze stays on your face. You’re far too entranced by the stars to notice him staring at you. And although he knows everything about the stars, he still listens to you point them out and tell him about them.

It’s when you go to see if he’s listening do you notice he’s staring at you. His heart flutters when you give him a sweet, beaming smile, cheeks flushed a bright pink. “Eret?” You question with a small giggle. His second favorite sound, his first being your voice.

“Can I tell you something?” He asks, turning to face you and you nod, eyes filled with curiosity. Pearlescent eyes flicker across your face, taking in your beauty. He’s never been this nervous before, not even when he betrayed L’manberg. Or whenever he tried speaking to you. “I’m in love with you, I-I have been for a while. Since I first saw you.”

Eret looked for any signs of rejection on your face as you opened and closed your mouth, trying to muster up words. He took note of your cheeks reddening deeper and how your pupils dilated, leaving little color. He wants to know what's going on in your mind. Sometimes he wishes he could read minds like Exdii, but alas, he cannot.

“I’m in love with you too. Oh my prime, I love you Eret,” You wrap your arms around him tightly, and he pulls you into his lap, hands resting on your hips. This is the happiest he’s been and he wants nothing more than to hold you and kiss you.

And he does.

Capturing your lips with his, the kiss is filled with so much passion and love that he could cry. Every sound around them falls deaf on his ears as he pulls you impossibly closer, savoring the sweet taste of strawberries on your lips. Eret’s hands slowly slip underneath your shirt, feeling the soft skin of your stomach in contrast to the leathery feeling of the scars on your back. He pauses, his mouth not leaving yours.

“Is this okay?” You nod, legs tightening around his waist. He groans softly, slowly pushing you back against the blanket covering the grass until he’s hovering over you. “I love you,” he murmurs, smiling against your lips.

The first bit of the night was spent under the stars, clothes strewn across the grass. Gentle touches and passionate kisses. Eventually you two ended back in the castle, going a second time in his bed. He took his time making sure to mark every bit of you with love bites, to show that you were his and only his.

Eret took pride knowing he was your first kiss and first time.

Eret knew better than falling in love, but he couldn’t help it. Falling deeper in love with you whenever you looked at him, whenever you stayed by his side during the war. You stayed by his side until you were separated by the explosions. He watched with horror as the explosions took your second life, being too far to get to you. The moment he saw your body disappear into dust, he left and ran back to the castle where you would be. He held you close, reassuring himself that you were still alive and there with him.

You had one life left and Eret was going to do everything he could to protect you, making sure not to lose you.

He watches with you as L’manberg is rebuilt. As Tommy is exiled. Eret comes with you to visit Tommy, sometimes you stay there for hours even when Dream is there. He watches as you shout at Dream for being a cunt to your little brother. Since your second death, Eret watched you grow more bold and confident, willing to fight even Dream.

You became his spitfire.

Every morning, he woke up with you by his side and he was happy. He’d kiss you good morning even if you were still asleep and would wake you up with breakfast in bed. You were why he started enjoying mornings.

He was happy, he didn’t believe anything could go wrong.

How wrong he was.

Everyone else calls it Doomsday, but Eret refers to it as the day he lost his love.

It all happened so fast.

One moment you were by Eret’s side, the next you were gone. It didn’t take long for him to find you jumping in front of the rockets that Technoblade was firing at Tommy and Tubbo with. He’s never moved as fast as he had when he ran to you. Immediately dropping to his knees, holding you close to him, tears streaming down his cheeks.

“Don’t die. Please, my love,” Eret cried out, bringing your hand to his lips, kissing your knuckles. He watched as you smiled weakly, melting into his touch. He knew no potions could fix this. “You- You were supposed to be careful, you were supposed to stay by my side forever…” He wanted to last forever, he tried so hard.

You hummed, lashes fluttering as you looked up at the starry sky. “It- It’ll be okay, y’know? I’ll… I’ll likely come back as a ghost like Ghostbur…”

It wouldn’t be the same, he wished to cry out to you.

Leaning down, he kissed you lovingly, tears flooding down his cheeks as he held you close to his body. He wasn’t ready to let you go, even as he felt your heart slow. “I love you so much,” he choked out, resting his forehead on yours, hands red with your blood. The explosions and screaming fell deaf. “I’ll miss you so much…”

“I... I love you too.”

Two years since the love of his life died in his arms.

Two years since he lost his universe, his will to live.

One and a half years since Eret has been going to the prison every week to beg Dream to revive you.

It never got easy.

Waking up to kiss you but you weren’t there, the scent of your shampoo still engraved in the pillows and pillow cases. He couldn’t look at the stars anymore without crying and remembering how he lost you. Eret would give anything just to be able to dance with you again. Anything to hold your warm body in his arms and kiss you. What hurt even more, was that there was no ghost to be there with him. Just a cold empty bed.

He wishes he could’ve spent more time with you. He wishes he could’ve given you more flowers, taken you dancing more often--prime knows he has the ballroom to do so.

As it turns out, almost four years of being with you wasn’t enough time.

But you were gone.

And, maybe it was better that way.

Immortal beings shouldn’t fall in love with mortals.
