No one asked but I'm bored so here are my ratings of popular Stranger Things ships! (kind of a long post).

Disclaimer: Ship who you wanna ship. This is just for fun :)

Byler: 100/10, I love my boys. No notes.

Lumax: Also a 100/10. They're just so!!!

Elmax: 9/10. I love them with my whole heart but I'm a Lumax shipper first and foremost.

Elumax: 100000/10. Literal perfection. Elmax AND Lumax (and Hopclair, depending on how you view the ship dynamic)? Literally what more could you want?

Duzie: 7/10. They're cute and I really like Suzie. I wish we could've seen more of them, maybe Suzie will come back with a bigger role next season.

Henderhop: 6/10. Typically I HC El as a lesbian but I actually like this pairing. Definitely not a ship I'd die on but I enjoy interacting with the fan content.

Henderclair: 6/10. Listen, I love their dynamic. If I didn't HC Dustin as the token straight, I'd probably rate them higher. Platonically? Literally everything to me. Romantically? I'm not opposed.

Byclair: 8/10. I also like them a lot but I'm a die-hard Byler shipper. I do enjoy interacting with the fan content though!

Wheelclair: 7/10. They're silly and I love them but this is a particular dynamic I prefer platonic. I do HC that Mike had a crush on Lucas when they were younger though.

Mileven: 1/10. I'm just not a fan. I'm giving them a one solely cuz I enjoyed them in season 1 when I first watched the show in middle school, but I'm definitely not a fan of this ship at all. Platonically though?? Amazing.

Jancy: 10/10. I love them. I'm praying every day that the Duffers didn't completely fuck them up and that they'll be endgame.

Ronance: 9/10. I like them, they're cute. I interact with a lot of their fan content. Let's go lesbians.

Rovickie/Rockie: 7/10. I just don't know enough about Vickie yet to know if them as endgame is what I'm rooting for, but from what we've seen they're cute.

Stonathan: 10/10. I love them and I'm so excited for their interactions in season 5! They're the enemies to lovers.

Jargyle: 9/10. Love me some stoner boyfriends. They've definitely kissed before at least once.

Stancy: -10000/10. BOOOOOOO 🍅🍅🍅. They are not right for each other. Steve deserves someone who loves him and Nancy deserves someone she loves.

Stoncy: 3/10. If it's in the way that Steve and Jonathan are dating and Jonathan and Nancy are dating with Nancy and Steve being platonic, then sure. But if it's all three dating, nah. Steve and Nancy just don't work imo.

Buckingham (Chrissy x Robin): 8/10. I think this is considered a rare pair but I think they're adorable and I love the fan content around them.

Hellcheer: 5/10. Not my favorite but I have no issues with this ship. I see the vision of them as best friends mainly.

Steddie: 5/10. They're not bad and I interact with some of their fan content (some of their tiktok edits go hard), but they're just kind of okay, you know?

Jopper: 10/10. I love them. Been a Jopper fan since day one. They're so endgame.

So hi, I'm the same anon who talked about the double standard with Madwheeler and Byler and I've seen one of your rebblogs implying that I said if you don't like a queer ship you are homophobic and that's not what I said at all.

First, Madwheeler is not only a platonic ship. There are a lot of fics of them romantically and the comments are full of milevens. There is even one really famous in the byler tag even if most of them thinks Mike is gay.

Second, Robin is CONFIRMED a lesbian. Will is CONFIRMED gay. They are the only characters with confirmed sexuality. So yeah, people are going to complain if you put them in a straight ship and it does happen, there are people around here that still ships Will with El. However the other characters are not confirmed anything. Date a girl doesn't mean you are straight. You can be bi, you can be gay. I'm a lesbian who has dated boys more than once until I really found myself.

Milevens shouldn't be mad at bylers because they think Mike is gay and search for evidences for it, they should be mad at the writers for even having evidence to begin with. It was a writing choice to separate Mike from El three seasons while bonding Mike with Will and make them having a lot of heart to hearts. It was a writing choice to write Will in love with Mike. It was a writing choice to keep showing Will pinning for Mike so the audience would associate mileven with suffering. It was the writers choice to just joke around with any other ship in the fandom except for byler and keep using byler for merchandizing. If anything, be mad at them.

Bylers are just having fun with their own interpretation of the show. If you choose to believe everything that's happening on screen that's fine, but you have no right to be mad at someone or a group who doesn't. If you actually feel mad and irritated, you should take a step back. They are fictional characters. You don't write them, the writers do. By the end of the day, only them know were they are going with it so you don't have to act entitled as if you are the only one right. Bylers should not do that either.

As for the point they made about woman that don't need a men are aways HC as not straight, don't know where the hell they got this. Go read about feminism and you are going to see that there is no correlation between being independent and sexuality.

Again, there IS a double standard with queer ships and straight ships. That do exists and it's not because it isn't you bobble and you are not seeing it that it isn't a thing. We as queers have been experiencing it for a loooong time. Oh and... yes there are people who believes that Elmax is going to be canon and there are a lot of analysis supporting it.

So let's say their first official date is post S5, in Hawkins, they're like... let's say 17.

Imagine if you will, they're both aware of each other's feelings at this point, confessions have been made. But with the apocalypse and all, no moves were made. They're in the awkward flirty dancing around each other phase. Mike finally asks Will out on an official date.

Mike: Do you want to... Would you want to like... hang out? With me, I mean.

Will (confused): Yeah, of course.

Mike (flustered): No, I mean uh. Would you wanna go out with me?

Will: Oh.

Mike: Oh?

Will (failing to suppress a giddy smile): Yeah, of course.

Now. Small town dates generally consist of: Movie and/or food. Drive around. Go sit in a parking lot or somewhere else secluded.

They go see a movie. They have to keep it a secret from the party so that they don't all try to tag along.

They share popcorn. Their hands gradually get closer until their pinkies are pressed together, then Mike hooks their pinkies together and they both blush so fucking hard.

After the movie, they drive around, listen to one of Will's mixtapes, and talk. They pull over in a field somewhere secluded where they can talk some more and ✨️smooch✨️

The kissing is good. Mike understands now why people like kissing. Not that he didn't like kissing El, just... okay, he didn't like it. He likes this though, he likes it a lot. It's so good, in fact, that he feels the need to confirm with Will that this is, in fact, his first kiss. Will nods shyly. Mike feels a sense of pride at that. He was the first person to kiss Will Byers. He's gonna be the last, too.

They don't make curfew. Mike drops Will off. Will doesn't sneak in, just walks in the front door, but instead of a lecture, Joyce just gives a knowing look and practically beams at him.

Joyce: Did you have a nice time, honey?

Will (blushing furiously): Yeah, mom, it was fine.

Joyce: Just fine?

Will (already backing up toward his bedroom): I'm pretty tired, I'm gonna go to bed.

Joyce: Alright! We'll talk about it in the morning.

Will (said through his now closed bedroom door): Nothing to talk about!

Then he just turns and leans against the door, and he can't wipe the grin off of his face. He presses his palms to his face and feels the heat there. It's late, but suddenly he has so much pent up energy, he feels like he needs to yell or jump around. He settles for quietly pacing and smiling like an idiot.

Meanwhile, after Mike gets home and sneaks back in through his window, he's just laying in bed buzzing with excitement. He has so much adrenalin he can't even think of sleeping, so he just lays there and replays the night over and over in his head. Will Byers held his hand. Will Byers kissed him. A lot of times. He went on a date with Will Byers.

The next morning he calls the Byers residence. Joyce answers.

Joyce: Hello?

Mike: Hi Ms. Byers. It's Mike. Is Will there?

Joyce (grinning): Yeah, he's here, I'll grab him for you. Did you two have a good time last night?

Mike chokes on nothing, and mercifully Will comes around the corner, having heard his mom, and makes her hand the phone over.

They talk in hushed voices, and Joyce watches, then when Will hangs up, she looks at him expectantly.

Will: ....Would it be alright if Mike and I hung out again tonight?

i reaaaaally think will gets the image of being more polite, not because he's not sassy and sarcastic and rolling his eyes 24/7. but will knows all about timing while mike doesn't. will is more of a quick jabs when they aren't looking and mike is more of a let's scream right before we attack to blow our cover.

both of them kick each other under the table but because of what i said before, will gets to do it more bc again, mike needs to practice timing. he is easier to make explode and to be loud about his sarcasm and sassiness and will more times than not has to keep him on check with a quick kick under the table.

i think will would painfully offer a polite smile whenever ted says stupid bullshit, grabbing his fork tight and biting his tongue to not say anything. mike is the kind that explodes like he saw in s1 when he said "i'm the only one acting normal! i'm the only one who cares about will!" and then he storms out. but i also think will is clever and when he gets older he learns to slip in a couple of passive-agressive comments, all well aimed, that leave ted tripping not sure if this kid just offended him or not.

about ted knowing, my ongoing joke is that he's always known about byler and already think they are a couple lmao but in reality i don't think he knows and i don't think neither of them are inclined to tell him since we all know about ted's political views and all. i think karen knows, esp bc i think (and want) karen will be finally involved in the supernatural plot next season and once you enter all that mess let's be honest... how are you still going to be homophobic with all the horrors and the real awful things you've seen? sure, maybe karen will have a bit of a hard time adjusting to the idea first, but she'll get there. also bc i hc her as being a closeted lesbian that fell under the pressure of heteronormativity and who back in her cheerleader days in high school used to have a crush on joyce maldonado hehe.

holly thinks byler are dating already. she just assumes as much lmao if you asking me in canon tho, i think holly is young enough to unlearn the few things she's already learned about homophobia along with karen. my hc is that she simply assumes byler are boyfriends already lol anyhow she would love them bc will is her favorite from the party (after mike ofc) and now will is around the house a lot more so holly wins.

mike grinned softly, looking at the first pair of flowers he had ever gotten you before you two started dating, the tag he had left on it originally now taken off thankfully. it was in a gorgeous vase that was a mix of blue, his favorite color, and your favorite color. they had grown beautifully with the proper care. he let his eyes gaze away from the pot of flowers, sunshine rays shining brightly onto them, making eye contact with you. his eyes sparkled with joy and crinkled due to his smile, black hair a little frizzed but overall handsome on him, and his skin was as beautifully pale as ever– if that was a compliment.

boris was a troublemaker, of course. that bit was obvious– he was probably on drunk and high everyday to be honest. but falling in love? with theo, he was already kinda in love with him. it made him sick to his stomach. loving was never really his.. thing. liking one person was enough, but two?? he was being driven into insanity at this point trying to choose who he... 'truly loved' or whatever fairytales say. he never really read books, how would he know? each night after he either left yours or theos house or after the two of you left, he was left grumbling to himself in the dead silence of his house. was loving someone really this hard? this is so tedious! and dumb!

today was just another day, drinking vodka straight from the bottle at your house, sat up at the front of your mattress, theo at his side whilst you were tidying up your room– not something you did often. having guests over though, your parental guardian had insisted to clean your room. boris stared blankly at you as he took the vodka away from his mouth, glancing over at theo for a second and handing the alcohol to him before looking back at you. he caught the small smile of theos mouth just before turning away ... that dumb smile.

"just sit down. thought you dislike cleaning?" boris questioned in that broken english. he was still learning.

"i do but im forced to clean it each time you guys come over," you huffed.

bruises. literally everywhere. boris was a cuddly man, that was a given, but he really did love just digging his fingers into your skin to the point it gave literal MARKS. you didnt mind to much, thinking it was sweet. he had good intentions of course!! arms wrapped around your waist, you were tightly pressed against boris' body, somehow managing to be comfortable. sure, you were gonna just get even more marks, but it was a casual thing by now. plus, atleast boris was happy– alot happier than before, thats for sure. previously, he and his father had a little ... squabble, lets say.

"bad parenting." boris had mumbled, breaking the silence.

you were going to say huh before your mouth became a 'O' in realization that he was talking about his father. you were quick to agree, nodding your head. he truly was a horrible father.

"dont worry about it, boris. its in the past," you tried reassuring.

past as in the last 20 minutes, but you still tried helping.

you only heard him sigh, mumbling something in russian under his breath—likely about him hating his dad or something—before pulling you closer, if even possible. seemed you would be here for a while as perusal as he practically would hold you captive– you werent really complaining though. he was rather warm for a guy so sickly looking.

Okay so let's say for argument's sake Byler happens, or some variation of it does. We have yet to see Mike really 'question' his sexuality and I've seen theories on why this is but to put it plain in *my* opinion, he's very far in the closet and is doing what is 'expected' of him by dating girls. First thing out of the way: I am a Bi Mike truther, I will not argue about this- everyone is entitled to their own hcs.

So I've seen people say they want a scene with Will coming out to Joyce and yes I want that too but if they make Byler happen I want- no I need a scene with Mike and Karen.

Mike coming home- maybe after El has broken up with him for good- and having all these swirling feelings over the whole thing. Then when you throw Will into the mix Mike's kind of unsure of everything and he's frustrated and! He's mad about it but he doesn't have anyone to direct his anger at because it's not really anyone's fault but dammit! He's mad because he doesn't know how he's supposed to feel right now! Or what he does next!

Karen sees him stalking up to his room and can immediately sense something is wrong and when Mike yells at her that 'he's fine' and trying to lock her out I want her to get mad too. Mad that her kids can't see that she loves them. Mad at herself for never showing it right. Mad that she's got herself stuck in a shitty marriage. So she doesn't let Mike lock her out this time, she throws his door open and demands he talks to her because she loves him and nothing is ever going to change that. She will be here for him if he lets her.

And then Mike breaks. He tries to explain his feelings but he's not good at that but Karen knows, she understands her son is hurting. Look she may not say the right things and she may not completely understand what she knows Mike is trying to say, but she doesn't want to see him in pain anymore. She loves him too much.

This scene would be so beneficial in helping mend the Wheeler family, especially the disconnect between Mike and Karen. She was the one Mike ran to to hug when he thought Will was dead and I would think the whole Will thing wouldn't take her off guard, even if she doesn't get what 'gay' entials.

I think this conversation would absolutely wreck me as viewer and put me on the floor sobbing, thank you.

I'm really live and let live with hcs and theories, but i think i just really don't get the bi Mike thing. Because i keep seeing people say Mike is bi but when i actually see the posts explaining why (which is Really rare too, it's usually just treated as 'clearly obvious' which is also interesting) there's always scenes getting ignored. Things like Mike kissing El and obviously caring about her immensely get mentioned, but then the sibling and cousin coding (even right before their first kiss) just gets ignored. "Boys only" isn't worth analyzing, it's just wording (but Will saying "a day free of girls" is still obviously gay coding). Mike not kissing El back in s3 gets acknowledged but him pulling her hands off his face at the beginning of the season doesn't get mentioned. Everyone having posters of people they're attracted to (Nancy, Steve, etc) on their walls is just accepted as fact but Mike only having posters of buff guys still means he's into girls. And so on

What's even wilder is that I've seen multiple people claim they Don't think Mike was ever into El but still think he's bi which is just. ?. I don't get it. Because outside of El he hasn't shown anything you could even Pretend is attraction to girls. Canonically he's had little contact with girls because they "think he's gross", didn't care for Max when she showed up, didn't care for the dragonslayer princess or Phoebe Cates, doesn't have any female fictional characters he admires, AND didn't get Argyle falling for pretty girl Eden. El is really the only thing you could sort of try to justify any attraction to girls in any capacity (and even that's rocks in canon)

Bi Mike just confuses me because all posts arguing in favour of it always ignore certain scenes. And yeah obviously, they have to it's because you just can't explain them from the bi angle. It's just odd to me that so many people argue it's equally as canon supported as gay Mike when there's multiple instances that have to be overlooked for the theory to hold up. Not trying to sound rude, hcs are obviously cool, i just don't get why bi Mike is argued to be canon so much when the show contradicts it multiple times (coming from a bi person btw)

i'm a live and let live too ! i'm no headcanon police and i am nobody to tell you what to do or how to think. i like pointing stuff out i find interesting and if those things i'm pointing out (and many others have pointed out) leads me to believe wholeheartedly mike is gay, i'll allow myself to be passionate about that. (get heated ? sometimes i admit) (because i think it's an important thing to take into account when discussing him/elmike/byler/the narrative/where we've been and where we're going yadda yadda yadda)

i've seen bi mike posts that are more on the analysis side, but then those posts go on to say something like mike wasn't regretting telling will to dance with the girl (i don't think mike was like "no come back i am so consciously in love with you" at all, but more so "well this has me feeling In Ways i don't want to describe or think about) at the snowball, or that the ending of s3 is just solely about him being sad to see el and will go (i agree he is obviously sad about that, but literally what were those two back to back byler and elmike scenes about, considering their nature and content, if not mike getting confirmation he wants to date his dude bestie ? which i really, really think is the conclusion to his "i have an idea, boys only" moment) so again, even if we're both analyzing, we're truly not analyzing in the same way. i can't take those things as proof coming from a show that keeps hammering it over our heads that we have to think deeper and pull back the curtain. they don't want you to think of these scenes as nothing more than they appear on surface level. these are ga kinds of interpretations of these scenes. most of them saw a mike sad to be bidding his friends goodbye, you on the other hand, if you're trying to decipher what mike is thinking and what he's about, should probably be seeing something else.

everything you listed applying to both mike and will and definitely not to lucas and dustin (these two especially as way closer in age than like. steve and have way more scenes together) is something you should notice but alas- pretty girl eden was there to mock love at first though. even jonathan doesn't care for that haha i'll have to disagree on that being gay mike proof. if anything it's mike is a dirty little liar monologuing a lie proof.

i'll leave you with this : headcanons are cool, i don't care what you do with them. i hope you're having fun (i truly am) but *i* disagree it's as supported by canon as the gay hc. i, as in me myself and i, and if you disagree with me that is completely fine. you should be and feel free to do whatever you want with mike when you spin him around in your head for fun trying to understand who he is. but i will never not be confused by bi mike, as i think it is quite obvious he is gay.

lucas - bisexual. technically this is canon, but it can be a headcanon too. anyways elumax canon yep!

hello anon this is a fantastic ask!!!! here is a list on my byler hcs!!!

1. will has his mom/jon/hopper buy apple juice at the store because mike likes apple juice. will hates apple juice.

2. there is a blanket reserved for mike at wills house for sleepovers/movie nights/ anything u could think of that requires a blanket

3. mike has a book of pictures of him and will. he gets the photos from jonathan. will has no clue as he is under the impression that mike hates having his picture taken (he does but not when it’s with will!)

4. they don’t come out to eachother until after their first kiss!!!

5. the party does secret santa every year since they don’t have enough money to buy presents for everyone. mike and will get eachother presents regardless of whoever they pick. they’ve done this since they were kids!!

6. they copy eachothers mannerisms without noticing. they literally always have. everyone else notices.

7. mike writes will poems after they get together!! he’s always super embarrassed about it but will loves them!

8. they are clingy as fuck and they do not bother hiding it after they get together.

9. will likes to play with mikes hair. he learned how to braid from joyce and will just braid random parts of mikes hair

10. will teaches mike how to cook easy things one day after seeing mike eat pop tarts for breakfast for a week straight. hopper (against his will) supervises this activity and is forced to eat the food mike makes. the food is horrible, but seeing how mike and will interact with each other makes him treat mike slightly nicer in the future. he can’t be so bad if he makes will this happy.

11. they have double dates with lumax. lumax doesn’t know theyre double dates for like a year until byler comes out to them and admits they were double dates.

12. once el finds out (she’s one of the first to know. she finds out within the first month they’re dating as she is wills sister) she is SO SUPPORTIVE!! she is so happy for them!!

My favourite HC rn is that after Mike and El break up in season three, they never get back together, but because it’s Mike and El their relationship doesn’t outwardly appear to change. They’re still best friends and they still hang out a lot and El is the first one Mike tells, about this revelation of his and they spend a lot of time giggling behind closed doors because they can’t talk about it openly. But everyone (Will) assumes they made up and got back together. And they were never super major about the PDA in the first place, and they still cuddle and hold hands and really the only difference here is that they don’t kiss anymore. And niether of them miss it and that’s the biggest indicator that they’re better of as friends, isn’t? They made assumptions about the level of their physical affection for eachother meant and were wrong. So yeah, everyone (will) assumes that they’re still dating. And this goes on for an indeterminate amount of time before byler getting together and is only revealed when poor will has a panic attack about kissing his sisters boyfriend Mike this can’t happen and mikes just like🧍🏻so confused the poor boy.

will starts crying. like instant sobbing.

mike FREAKS TF OUT cuz “omg i just ruined this date i didnt even plan a nice dinner”

mike apologizes profusely because he thinks hes rlly fucked this up

will sits on the swings, mike sits next to him, still apologizing

will tells him to stop saying sorry, because this was where they met. where it all began. where they both knew that they had met someone who would shape their lives.

they hug. not like a soft hug. like an intense will-el reunion type hug. mike is now sobbing at this point too.

and then they just talk. for hours. about everything. wondering where all the time went, how everyones been, what life will be like.

mike planned to take will to dinner at enzo’s after, but they spent so much time at the playground, that they both agreed to skip the reservation

sigh of relief from mike because theres no way in hell he could afford to pay for that

mike wanted to go out and see a movie, but they wanted to hold hands and cuddle, which they couldnt do in public

they go back to the wheeler’s basement, and watch a movie together (its some dorky superhero or fantasy shit)

will falls asleep on mikes shoulder, which mike doesn’t complain about but he is blushing and flustered

will wakes up, they kiss goodbye, and mike drives will home.

at the doorstep, mike looks around quickly to make sure nobody can see, and then kisses will before he goes inside

they say their goodnights, and while this isnt what mike planned, it was perfect. will is perfect.

HEY SORRY FOR THE LATE REPLY I GOT DISTRACTED- but now i'm here and i'm so so so ready to tell you my elmax hcs <3 i love them they're like my?? 2nd favorite ship??? they're my favorite girls!!

they have their own secret little code to talk about the guys!! like all of them have nicknames so that way they can gossip about them without them knowing. they're always so confused but never really ask because they think it's just "girl stuff"

max helps el with homework because she still struggles with some stuff!!

jonathan taught el how to use a polaroid, so now she and max have a lot of pictures together!! el's room is full of them and max has a little corner in her room too

they bought together a notebook where they write letters to each other everyday!! they also use it as an album where they put all of their pics together <3

el now goes to high school with them and she shares most of the classes with max (they always seat together) but when they don't, they always wait for each other to walk to their next class together

they often have lunch with the guys but sometimes they sneak out to eat together alone

max loves calling el "angel" (because, well... ang-el) and el calls her "love". it makes max blush every time.

the party knows, of course, and they're okay with it. but it's really funny seeing their reactions every time el and max are clingy and cheesy because they're soooo done. except lucas and will!!! they're so so happy for them!!!
