Godzilla towering over the Golden Gate Bridge in issue #3 of Marvel Comics' Godzilla, King of the Monsters (October, 1977). Art by Herb Trimpe and Tony Dezuniga, colors byDon Warfield.
Godzilla's size fluctuated greatly during this comic book series, and that's before Henry (Yellowjacket) Pym shrunk him down to the size of a rat!
The top of the Golden Gate Bridge's towers is 746 feet above water. The depth of San Francisco Bay about where Godzilla is depicted standing is around 370 feet. Godzilla's height in the Showa era films is approximately 150 feet.
Even if you assume Godzilla is somehow treading water with his feet and tail (which is what I assume every time he "stands" in a body of water that is deeper than he is tall), he would be well over 800 feet tall in this drawing. And that's taking into account that later panels show Godzilla walking around the bridge with the water barely covering his feet. Were Godzilla truly standing on the floor of the bay and towering over the bridge, he would be over 1,000 feet tall.
In this same issue Godzilla is depicted as closed to his film size when Hercules has to hold up the kaiju's foot to keep it from trampling the Angel.
Of course, this problem wasn't limited to the comic book series. Godzilla (2014) had the same problem of scale when the Big G attacked the Golden Gate in that film.

An Introduction to Robotic Surgery
The field of robotic surgery, or robot-assisted surgery, has advanced considerably over recent years. Robotic surgery provides medical professionals with added precision, flexibility, and control during a myriad of procedures. Most robot-assisted surgery procedures are categorized as minimally invasive, meaning surgeons and robots work through a small incision in the patient’s body, but robot-assisted surgery is also used during complex open surgeries.
Robotic surgery is a general term that does not refer to a specific device or technique. A common example of robot-assisted surgery involves the use of a flexible mechanical arm equipped with a small camera and multiple surgical instruments. Surgeons operate these robots using a nearby computer console as the camera provides a highly detailed image of the surgical site. The da Vinci surgical system, for example, has been designed to function like the human wrist, but with a greater range of motion.
As robotic and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies continue to improve, robotic surgery will allow surgeons to perform increasingly intricate procedures, some of which would be impossible without robotic aid. A few key benefits of robotic surgery over traditional open methods include a decrease in pain and blood loss for patients, smaller surgical scars, and a lower chance of complications, including infections. Robot-assisted surgery has also been linked to less time in the hospital for patients, as well as quicker recovery times.
Robotic surgery is comparable to laparoscopic surgery. During a laparoscopic procedure, surgeons insert thin tubes, called trocars, into incisions measuring less than one centimeter wide. Surgeons can subsequently insert various medical tools into the tubes. The tools can be used to execute several nuanced motions, such as cutting and sewing tissue. Regarding complications and length of postoperative stay, researchers have observed no significant difference between traditional laparoscopic surgery and robot-assisted surgery.
Robotic tools have proven useful during procedures as diverse as hip replacement and coronary artery bypass surgery. Surgeons can cut away cancerous tissue from sensitive, healthy parts of the body, such as nerve endings and vital organs, using robotic assistance. Other surgical procedures that make use of robotic assistance include gallbladder removal, hysterectomy, kidney transplant, and mitral valve repair.
The term “robotic surgery” can be somewhat misleading, as robots do not independently perform any aspect of a surgical procedure, but rather function as extensions of a human medical professional. Leading medical professionals from the Mayo Clinic, including Mohamad Bydon, MD, do not believe that robotic tools will replace human surgeons at any point in the near future, in part because of the potential risks.
A 2018 study in the New England Journal of Medicine found that certain procedures led to inferior outcomes for patients following robot-assisted surgery compared to traditional open procedures. More recent studies, such as a 2021 report from Annals of Internal Medicine, have found little to no difference in patient outcomes.
There is also the long-term impact of robotic surgery that must be considered. According to Corey Walker, MD, a Cedars-Sinai neurosurgeon, the automated nature of robotic surgery impairs a young doctor’s ability to learn the finer details of human anatomy. Surgeons must also avoid developing an overreliance on technology that may not always be available.

Your Black World http://bit.ly/1dwTN6Q
It is no secret that slavery rests at the foundation of American capitalism and is often synonymous with the sugar, tobacco, and/or cotton plantations that fueled the Southern economy. What many may not know is that slavery also rests at the foundation of many notable corporations. From New York Life to Bank of America, several companies have benefitted from slavery. Many of the companies even acknowledged their involvement in slavery and offered apologies in an attempt to reconcile their tainted history but, is an apology enough?
History has consistently shown that slavery has diminished the quality of life for African Americans and simultaneously enhanced the quality of life for White Americans. From institutionalized racism to blocked social and economic opportunities, African Americans are often excluded of African Americans.
Apologies cannot compensate an entire race of people for all of the social and economic ills they face as a result of their enslavement. They cannot address the residual effects of slavery. They cannot provide job opportunities to a race of people who are experiencing high unemployment rates. Apologieswithout action from the very systems they helped to create. Had it not been for slave labor, many corporations would not be where they are today and for these companies to acknowledge their involvement in slavery and then simply say ‘Oh, I’m sorry”, is to downplay their role in perpetuating the degradation are nothing more than a futile attempt to correct a wrong by pacifying the wronged. Instead of apologies, these companies could give back to the African American community bydonating to HBCUs, investing in minority businesses, offering more minority scholarships, or launching initiatives to increase their number of minority employees.
New York Life New York Life found that its predecessor (Nautilus Insurance Company) sold slaveholder policies during the mid-1800s.
2. Tiffany and Co Tiffany and Co. was originally financed with profits from a Connecticut cotton mill. The mill operated from cotton picked by slaves.
3. Aetna Aetna insured the lives of slaves during the 1850’s and reimbursed slave owners when their slaves died.
4. Brooks Brothers The suit retailer started their company in the 1800s by selling clothes for slaves to slave traders.
5. Norfolk Southern Rail Road Two companies (Mobile & Girard and the Central of Georgia) became part of Norfolk Southern. Mobile & Girard paid slave owners $180 to rent their slaves to the railroad for a year. The Central of Georgia owned several slaves.
6. Bank of America Bank of America found that two of its predecessor banks (Boatman Savings Institution and Southern Bank of St. Louis) had ties to slavery and another predecessor (Bank of Metropolis)accepted slaves as collateral on loans.
7. U.S.A. Today U.S.A. Today reported that its parent company (E.W. Scripps and Gannett) was linked to the slave trade.
8. Wachovia Two institutions that became part of Wachovia (Georgia Railroad and Banking Company and the Bank of Charleston)owned or accepted slaves as collateral on mortgaged property or loans.
9. AIG (American International Group) AIG purchased American General Financial which owns U.S. Life Insurance Company. AIG found documentation that U.S. Life insured the lives of slaves.
10. JP Morgan Chase JP Morgan Chase reported that between 1831 and 1865, two of its predecessor banks (Citizens Bank and Canal Bank in Louisiana) accepted approximately 13,000 slaves as loan collateral and seized approximately 1,250 slaves when plantation owners defaulted on their loans
