Bound: Cut From the Sky by @mallstars

As a sewist, I was eager to bind this fic. I had so many ideas, and the imagery of flowing fabric was always in my head, but I wasn’t sure how to make it work. In the end, I found a graphic of fabric on freepik.com then recolored it. I love how it came out, even if it does look like water, but you know, water is a pretty big theme of the fic, so I'm not mad about it.

I also am in love with the font on the cover. (AdornS Garland Regular)

For the art within the bind, I was so lucky to be able to use the artwork of so many talented artists. The inside cover art is from @appleslightning (remember I used her art for my personal bind of Away Childish Things), and the art within the bind is from @ree-dee-art, @amomorii, and @itsphantasmagoria. Thank you all so much for allowing me to use it!

The chapter heading fonts I used was Tomarik Display, except for the Interlude chapters, which I wanted to set apart from the rest a bit, so I changed the font and foiled the chapter headers. (Madelinette and Adorn Banners)

It didn't all go smoothly, though. Of course my fuckup came at the very very very end. I was putting the title on the spine, and, well, I put it on upside down.

I debated for a while what to do. Leave it? Put the title in the correct position as well and pretend I did it on purpose? Attempt to remove it, but risk ruining the whole cover?

I almost stuck with the "totes did this on purpose" solution.

Naturally, I chose the last option. And THANK GOD it worked okay. Someone told me to use heat + a glue eraser, and that did the trick! It did leave a tiny mark, and it erased a little of the fabric graphic, but I printed out a new one and patched it, and I don't think you can tell! (Don't look.)

Whew!

This was such a fun project, and I absolutely love how it turned out.

This was a real labor of love to turn Phantasmagoria’s art book cover into a printable design for the HTV, especially when I’m staring at these quotes. How can you not turn into an absolute puddle with prose like this?!?

“What do you feel when you look at me?” Draco asked and Harry caught it, the shift in tense, into the present. The weight behind the question. It burned in Draco's clear eyes.

“Everything," Harry said, willing his voice not to waver, for no cough to escape his body and cut into the moment. "I feel everything.”

It really is a good day.  “All right?” Potter asks, regaining his composure and lifting his chin.  Draco shrugs.  “You can smoke out here, if you want,” he says.  “There’s a sign,” Potter says, pointing to the ‘no smoking’ sign directly to his left. The Auror training is having an impact, already.  "You can smoke out here,” Draco corrects. He can’t imagine anyone denying Potter anything, certainly not now, probably for the rest of his life. “Nasty habit, though.”  “I know,” Potter says. He puts the cigarette back in its packet and shoves his hands in his pockets, looking extremely young. Draco forgets, sometimes, that he’s the older one of them both.  The way people talk about him, even in here, Potter has become in his mind ageless, an idol on a throne and a devil all at once.

Save the Date by @mallstars

In the twelve years after the war, Harry attends sixteen weddings. As friends and acquaintances vow their lives to one another, he watches quietly from the sidelines. Step by step, Harry pieces himself back together, builds a life from the wreckage of his past and falls, slowly and thoroughly, for Draco Malfoy. A story told in sixteen parts, of patient and transformative love, of queerness, of reaching out and holding on. Featuring plenty of pining, Gilderoy Lockhart getting married in a fever dream of glitter and product placement, and Rita Skeeter spitting a steady stream of venom at Harry and Draco's every move.

I was so ecstatic when @eevans22 sent me this absolutely gorgeous typeset of Save the Date by mallstars, as this is the final mallstars fic that I haven't read yet (bar now their two-days old Dronarry which you bet I can't wait to get my grubby little hands on) and the idea of reading it in HARDCOVER form was a dream too lovely to resist.

In terms of design, I wanted something elegant, hopeful, and clean to reflect eevans' typeset and mallstars' gorgeous prose. I matched an embroidered/beaded spine with one of my favorite of the Duo bookcloths: FLIEDER, which photographs terribly, but just believe me that it's a gorgeous silver/lilac/light pink, and matched it with our lord & savior, Renato Crepaldi endpapers.

I also hand-dyed linen thread chartreuse to fit the springtime/hopeful vibes & matched that to the endbands :)

I also am slowly, but surely improving with my construction, including the FLAT LAY, which has eluded me.

I am devouring this fic whole as we speak and loving it so so so much! mallstars, thank you for writing such amazing work, and eevan, for the lovely typeset! this was my first blind bind, and it was actually a super fun experience that i would absolutely repeat again for fics i know i will love :)

Because you can only read your favourite fics so many times, I decided to put this infatuation to good use. Thank you @mallstars for creating a story that keeps pulling me back in, as if I were the one stuck in a time loop. All objects are mentioned in Cut From the Sky, except for the Volvelle, which is my own version of the list of 120 combinations of people that Harry was given at the beginning of the fic, and Atelier Armoire's business card. Hello! Thank you for all the work you put in finding fics for everyone! ❤ Please, can you help me find the story where Harry is a "house whisperer", coaxing magical homes to reopen themselves to their owners? I think at one point he helped Luna or Pansy regain their house, he and Draco go for a visit or hole up there at one point. It was on AO3, but I can't remember anything more than that.
