I personally think Cynthia is overrated. I like her as much as the next person, but I think she’s overhyped. I played DPPt, and, yeah, she was hard, but is she worthy of having a whole section of the fandom worshipping every step she takes? No. I can’t really speak on the manga counterpart because I haven’t got to those chapters, so I’ll talk about the anime. I think the anime opened up a lot more of her character. She likes sweets. She is indecisive, warm, gentle, etc.
I heard about what happened in M8 in JN, but I myself refuse to watch JN until I find a subbed version for it because I like sub over dub. As for my very heated opinions on JN, I think M8 added on to my strong disliking of JN. I think I like BW more. As for the handling of Cynthia, I think we needed more time with her to really understand why she decided to retire I guess. Idk if it’s stated explicitly or I’m just pulling info out my ass. I think Cynthia is okay in the anime. Honestly, all the champions kinda suck in the anime imo. Diantha is probably the best out of all them.
In PMEX, the only side game I played other than Go, Cynthia gets way too much treatment. I saw there was an Aura alt for Cynthia. I will say, I am VERY biased since my no. 2 fav character is Riley. Like, do you know a character who is heavily associated with aura? Riley! No! It’s Cynthia! Uh?!?!? No? Riley fits the bill perfectly. It would’ve been cool to see Riley debut in PMEX through that event or smth idk. I’m not up to date with Masters.
I also think Cynthia is an easy scapegoat for people to hate characters. That doesn’t make any sense at all. What I’m saying is Cynthia is used to explain why people hate certain characters. For example, people meme on Diantha for being super easy, which is fair. What I don’t think is fair is to compare her boss fight to Cynthia. Cynthia is one of the hardest trainers in the series period. Comparing Diantha to the likes of, idk Lance(?) would be an easier connection.
Coming back to the M8, I heard of discourse about Cynthia vs Ash. As for the match itself, I think 1) that matchup is bullshit. 2) Steven or Iris should’ve fought her. Maybe Alain. As for what I’ve heard, I heard people say it was sexist that Ash won against Cynthia. I personally don’t see it. Cynthia, a woman, lost to a boy. Therefore it’s sexist doesn’t make sense to me. Don’t get me wrong. I think Cynthia losing to ASH of all people is stupid, but I wouldn’t go so far to call it sexist. What I will call sexist is if all the female trainers lost round 1, but that didn’t happen.
When I think of strong trainers, I think of Whitney, Norman (because I was a stupid kid), Winona, Sabrina, Morty, Lenora, Steven, Elesa, absolutely no one in XY, and Red. Cynthia too, but those trainers come to mind first. Cynthia is strong and tough to beat, but is she on the levels of Steven Stone for me personally? No.
Also, I think Volo’s character actively fails in regard to Cynthia. Like, Volo can’t really stand without context of Cynthia. The theme doesn’t make sense, nor the team without Cynthia. And I get that most if not all of P:LA doesn’t stand without context of DPPt, but I think all the characters stand on their own without their descendants as context. All but Volo, and even Cogita for that matter. Who is Cogita but a woman who lives in fuck off some where in Hisui? Well, she gives directions to legendary mons! Other than that, what else? Nothing. Kamado was a cool guy. He had a fear of Pokemon due to traumatic experiences in the past. He’s protective of the town he calls home. That is somewhat of a far departure from Rowan. I want the same for Volo.

Have you looked?
Here's just some of the things accomplished from one act.
Synopsis from wikipedia: "The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA) is a United States federal law which aims to reduce the federal government budget deficit, lower prescription drug prices, and invest in domestic energy production while promoting clean energy. It was passed by the 117th United States Congress and signed into law by President Joe Biden on August 16, 2022."
All Dems voted for it, and all Reps voted against it.
"including $783 billion on energy and climate change, and three years of Affordable Care Act subsidies. It represents the largest investment towards addressing climate change in United States history. According to several independent analyses, the law is projected to reduce 2030 U.S. greenhouse gas emissions to 40% below 2005 levels."
"In August 2023, the Solar Energy Industries Association reported that the Act had created more than 20,000 jobs and incentivized $20 billion in new solar power tech manufacturing and 155 gigawatts of generating capacity in the law's first year, and projected it would incentivize $144 billion more in such investments by 2033 than under a no-Act scenario. In September 2024, the SEIA reported that the Act had helped quadruple solar manufacturing capacity in the U.S. to 31 gigawatts since its passage."
"In a November 2023 report the interest group Environmental Entrepreneurs and the research firm BW found 210 announced projects directly linked to the Inflation Reduction Act, in the first year since its signing. They stated that the projects would create nearly 403,000 jobs, more than 100,000 of which would be permanent."
"It also includes a large expansion of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), including the hiring of up to 87,000 new employees to replace tens of thousands of recent departures, which led to over $1 billion being collected in past-due taxes from millionaires and other high-wealth individuals by July 2024."
"the Department raised rents on federal lands for oil and gas drilling by 1000 percent (the first such raise since 1960) and royalties by 4 percentage points, and directed fossil fuel producers to produce away from sensitive wildlife areas, thus formalizing more parts of the Act."
This isnt even half of the effects of the inflation reduction act alone.
Lots of good things happen that don't get talked about because of the doom and gloom of all the horrible things happening constantly.
The things that are going to be cut by Reps were done by the people during Dem presidencies.
I’m going to be real though unless you’re super young you really should have the perspective of the fact both the trump and biden presidencies were almost identical and this is not the end of the world at the end of the day if you’re an American citizen things will remain almost identical under any sitting president like we all grew up in the age of george bush who is responsible for the deaths of over a million people and it seems the average American doesn’t even remember that

Have to agree there, and in the case of AG and BW, they even managed to make his opposition into wimps (how the Gym Leaders were treated in BOTH sagas was just atrocious. I do NOT want to see them descend to Team Rocket's level, and what's worse with AG in particular is that this was at the heels of Misty's departure, which makes her removal come across as even MORE mean spirited than it already was).
Ash regresses throughout every new season of the fuckin anime. I don’t wanna see anyone try to claim that he’s better than Red who actually developed in his story and accomplished his goals.

That definitely would have been the better route ultimately. It would have respected Shudo's vision for those characters, it would have kept Misty on the show and allow her to actually be able to work on and developer her WPM goal rather than being forced to wait nearly 15 years before she had an opportunity to resume the goal again thanks to the writers forcing her into a gym, and it would have actually given Team Rocket a sendoff that actually WORKED for their characters. And I say this last bit in regards to how they ended in the most recent episode. Them splitting apart after an intense argument over who's to blame for the failure simply doesn't work after they spent 20 years on the job together (and that's just going by on-screen appearances, since it's implied they've been in the organization for even LONGER than that). Heck, they didn't even split up when they didn't try to take advantage of a situation to capture Pikachu either deliberately or accidentally. Probably the closest they ever got to splitting apart was in Team Rocket Blasts Off, a book by Tracey West that, while technically an adaptation of Battle of the Badge, goes into more behind the scenes stuff involving Team Rocket, where they ALSO broke apart due to infighting over the failure of at least one plan of theirs. However, even THAT had them getting back together shortly thereafter mostly because they viewed each other as the closest thing they had to a family due to their really bad pasts, like broken love regarding Meowth, a horrid choice of arranged marriages regarding James, and basically being subject to orphanages regarding Jessie. Not to mention it actually helps in actually STOPPING Team Rocket, and by that, I mean the organization. As of this recent episode, the organization as a whole still clearly exists, minus three members most likely.
One other thing, in relation to Team Rocket's reputation as bungling, it also would have removed the inherent implication in AG up to BW that the gym leaders were bottom feeding trainers thanks to how they mishandled the gym matches. The way they did it, it came across as the Gym Leaders essentially being JJM clones.
Of course, I can't say I'm too upset with Team Rocket's handling in this episode. Almost consider it poetic after their grossly mismanaging Misty's departure years earlier and JJM's role in that. But still... truly a waste how they ended, and what you proposed definitely was a far better outcome than what we actually got.
Blasting Off For Good
I’ve written about this before, and many of you who follow the tags on this post probably know the story: that when ratings started to fall during Johto, the higher-ups at the Pokemon Company put it to the staff: shake things up with the main cast. The choices for who’d get the axe boiled down to Misty and the TRio, and on-his-way-out head writer Takeshi Shudo ultimately came down for keeping the Rockets, who he felt had a more justified presence in the cast, while Misty was the least justified (I’ll get to that). They were his favorite characters (at one point, he apparently entertained the idea that they would eventually take over as the protagonists; so far as I know, that was never more than idle daydreaming, for which I’m very thankful.)
A curious thing abut the TRio is that, while Mr. Shudo was very fond of them and ultimately clenched their remaining, he wasn’t very happy with how they were handled. He never wanted them to become bungling villains who showed up every episode just to fail; he wanted to eventually tell the story of their realizing that they are basically good people in service to a bad organization. The closest he came was Revelation Lugia.
Another character Mr. Shudo loved was Mewtwo; that was why we got the Mewtwo Returns special during Johto. And of course, we all know about the G/S ball fiasco that went down during those years.
Now, I have a lot to say about the idea that Misty was the “least justified” member of the main cast, but I’ll save that for another day. For today, I want to take a look at the circumstances that Shudo and staff were dealing with during Johto. You have the TRio, your main series villains who aren’t really villains and who aren’t being written the way they were meant to be. You have Mewtwo, a fan favorite and a staff favorite, who you want to do more with. You have a great big hole in your plans for the coming seasons, because Celebi got promoted to a movie star and now your G/S plot is useless. And you have the higher-ups pressuring you to make plans for what comes after Johto, those plans including axing one of two key elements of your cast.
In that situation, I think it would’ve been better to commit to axing the TRio…as a means to finally do justice to their characters.
Picture this: Mewtwo Returns isn’t a TV special. It’s the starting point of a replacement arc to fill the gap left by the G/S ball and Celebi. While our heroes go along on their Johto journey, the TRio ends up being recalled for a series of major operations. That includes getting control of Mewtwo again, capturing some Legendaries (not all the Gen II guys got a movie), and preparing for Team Rocket’s ultimate takeover of Kanto and Johto. Such a story could’ve been contained to the Johto middle years, or it could’ve been spaced out so that Team Rocket strikes during the Silver Conference (which would’ve given some variety to the list of reasons Ash never wins; the tournament gets called off). Our main heroes are there to save the day, or at least help, but the decisive turning point comes when the TRio realize what Shudo always wanted them to: that they are good people, and they decide to betray Giovanni and do something that seriously undermines his operations.
At the end of the day, Team Rocket is put down for good, future evil teams have an opening to become the big bads, Mewtwo is freed, and Jessie, James, and Meowth go off into the sunset, free from their pasts and available for cameos and guest star appearances as needed.
YMMV, but to me, that wraps up quite a few things nicely. Also lets Misty stay in the main cast for future development. Could solve her problem of being the least justified cast member…if you agree with that assessment. Which I don’t. Stay tuned.

Here’s a little summary of all DA4 news we got in 2021, because I feel the need to kind of collect my thoughts at the end of the year. But please feel free to add anything I might have forgotten, even though the year didn't seem to have much to offer in terms of official new info, there still were a few crumbs here and there and some big unofficial stuff. :D
- Apparently, DA4 is purely Singleplayer now
(THE BULLET WE DODGED, thanks to the huge success of Jedi Fallen Order and the flop of Anthem, we'll honor your sacrifice. You died so DA4 Singleplayer could live. 🙏)
No but in all honesty, as much as I feel for all devs involved who put so much work into Anthem.. I was honestly relieved to hear they'd let it go completely in order to fully focus on DA4 and here's hoping that they learned from their mistakes in the Andromeda/Anthem development mess and don't have DA4 "suffer" because of the next Mass Effect (or the other way around, like pulling devs from one project to help on another.)
- 5 new concept art pieces + 2 new illustrations along with 2 new short stories on DA Day
You know, as much as I love these little nuggets of art and stuff, at some point of this year, I was like "Can't they just release DA4 as a picture book already with the amount of concept art they've put out now?" 😂
Though there seems to be a certain pattern in the concepts they reveiled, with each of them matching perfectly with the shots in the teaser on last year's VGAs, so maybe a hint and something to speculate about!
Additionally, one of the short stories does hint at a potential eight year timeskip since the events of Trespasser, which is a huge deal. What could it mean for the Inquisitor and their efforts? The Qunari invasion? The one who was left in the Fade in Here Lies the Abyss? The Warden if they’re alive? Solas’ plan? I’m not that surprised actually, given how he already hinted at “a few more years of relative peace” in Trespasser, until the Veil comes down. Almost ten years between the events in the game and the release of DA4 in real life would allow the devs to establish a new world state for old as well as new players to the series.
- Lots of new people hired, especially in the animation department!
This might be a good reminder for some that BioWare, despite creating Triple A titles, is.. actually not that big of a studio. 😅 At least not in comparison to other Triple A developers like Ubisoft for example. I feel like people tend to forget about that when setting the bar for expectations and how much budget and resources are involved. I don't know much about game development, but from what I understand, in the grand scheme of the EA catalog, BioWare is like that weird little nerdy child that they adopted in 2007, when EA's interest seemed to be anything BUT singleplayer story focused RPG games. 😂 So please guys, keep in mind that there might be only a handful of people on some of these teams right now.
- Long time veterans Matthew Goldman and Caroline Livingstone leaving BW
On that front, not to sound dramatic but.. does the DA4 team have a Creative Director right now? *nervous laughter*
There still hasn't been any official statement from neither BW or Matthew Goldman and the nature of his departure was strange, to say the least.. Like, if it hadn't been for this e-mail leak, we wouldn't even know about it.. I mean, they don't owe us a statement or anything and departures happen all the time for all sorts of reasons and it’s none of our business, but I feel like for such an important position on the team to just be gone like that after 20+ years at BW without any kind of farewell, when it wasn't even a transitional thing like with Darrah and Hudson and he always seemed so enthusiastic about DA and his work and engaged a lot with the fans on Twitter until very recently before his departure... Idk, it just doesn't feel good. :/
Caroline Livingstone, former Performance Director/VA Producer, will be working with Casey Hudson's new studio now. She was always highly praised by the VAs and the devs and always seemed to get out the best of any VAs performance, so it’s a bit sad to see her go! We don't really know how much she was even involved in DA4's development.. How much of the voice acting is done at this point? 👀
- Christian Dailey took fully over from Mark Darrah as DA4 Executive Producer
“Employee Nr. 35″ officially left BW as well in February of this year and I will miss his frustratingly vague and teasing DA4 tweets. He was literally there from the beginning. On the other hand, we now get to hear his side of game development in a really informative way on his own YouTube channel!
- A very insightful presentation on the challenges of production during the pandemic by Scylla Costa, DA4 Lead Producer at BIG Festival 2021
Here we got a little glimpse of some MoCap/Pcap sessions, as well as what I assume has to be the writer’s room? 👀 It’s a really interesting presentation and it’s kind of crazy how BioWare basically went into work from home the day after they had gathered the whole team to review DA4′s story and how they never really had the chance to settle in the new Epcor Tower place.
- In a shocking revelation, the Veil is a thong
I think watching the Gamers for Groceries stream was definitely the most I laughed throughout the whole year. Thank you, Patrick, I’m still in tears.
- DA4 might be released in 2023
If this is true, we could expect them to kick off the marketing in earnest next year! And given their blog message on DA Day, I think we can definitely look forward to finally get some substantial stuff in 2022! :D
- Elven bum for DA4 confirmed
We may not even have a title for this game, but rest assured, there will be booty.

G1, Beast Wars, and Bayverse Scorponok are all radically different, totally unrelated characters. Literally the only similarity they share is their name, due to turning into Scorpions. I don’t think the creators of each post-G1 incarnation particularly cared about nor intended for their take to be read as an adaptation of a previous one, they just saw the cool name and applied it. Completely different personalities, appearances, roles, etc.
…With all that said! I can’t help but think it’d be hilarious if Nizziverse Scorponok just combined traits from all three together. Keep in mind, his appearance is still the same as in the live-action movies. But perhaps instead of being just a Mini-Con, he’s also a Triple-changer, with his modes being a helicopter engine, scorpion, and of course the robot mode itself. Somewhat humanoid and not much of a departure from his scorpion mode, based mostly on the toy we got in 2007.
Robot-mode Scorponok would have legs that flip out; His forearms would reverse themselves with regular hands coming out of the ends; The tail slides in; And his face splits apart to make room for another head, probably based on his G1 and/or BW counterpart. Scorponok’s stinger removes to act as a trident like his G1 toy. He talks and he’s a fully intelligent scientist.
And he’s got a crazy backstory, we’re Star Wars background character-ing this arachnid… This animalistic Decepticon who never spoke and harasses some of our humans once? Presumably not sapient? Is actually a fully thinking and speaking scientist back on Cybertron, the inventor of Pretender technology under the rule of the Functionists. But when the social implications of Pretender tech were discovered, it was banned and even demonized by the Functionists, much to Scorponok’s chagrin.
He sided with the rebels to get back at the Functionists, and explained afterwards to Megatron the truth of Pretender technology. He created “Alice”. When the Decepticons attempted to invade the home planet of the Nebulans, the Autobots helped the locals fight back. As a result, Scorponok teamed up with Zarak, a xenophobic Nebulan, to drive the Autobots away. In the process he formed a taxing mental link with Zarak. After Megatron disappeared, Scorponok came close to seizing control of the Decepticons, only for the Fallen to orchestrate his downfall.
Scorponok was eventually assigned with some other Decepticons to scout out Earth, and bonded with Blackout, ALSO forming a symbiotic psychic link with him. Blackout was the most loyal to Megatron and basically acted as the group’s leader when confronting Starscream over suspected treachery, only to be reduced to literal pieces. Not sure what else to do, Scorponok single-handedly repaired Blackout, enabling him to take revenge on Screamer. He has a pet Cyber Bee and once fell into a pool of lava, only to somehow survive. Scorponok signs his missiles with the Autobot insignia.
Always having had a fascination with organic life (hence the Pretenders and psychic bond with Zarak), Scorponok eventually invented robot mpreg by attaching an incubation harness to his body, hoping to raise a generation of Decepticon-programmed humans. The Autobots managed to stop Scorponok, removed the baby from him, and placed it in the adoption of some human.
He was present when Scalpel examined our human protagonist for Cybertronian data in their brain, inside of Blackout and ready to deploy if needed. He powerlinked with Blackout during the forest fight, only for Blackout to die, forcing Scorponok to hitch a ride on Starscream when the Decepticons retreated. All of this, ALL OF THIS culminates in Scorponok getting smushed by Jetfire, who has no connection to him beyond being a former Decepticon himself. At this point, why not just make him Shockwave’s mentor as well, since that’d explain a lot?!
Wouldn’t that be twisted. If in the films, Scorponok was just a one-off mook that was forgotten and brought back in the next movie to be killed and resolved? Only to have this elaborate lore, personality, and involvement in background materials? I for one think it could be hilarious. I’m half-tempted to go with this idea in the Nizziverse. Imagine being some human named Connie who grows up, adopted and not aware of your biological parents. Only to one day be told that your mom is Scorponok and he got killed by Jetfire in Egypt, right in front of the humans he’d previously harassed and failed to kill. In addition to all of the OTHER history…!
(Does that make Blackout her dad??? Zarak an old flame of her mom by proxy?! EVERY PRETENDER A SIBLING!!?!?)
And you know what? Scorponok’s actually a quadruple-changer Mini-con, with his fourth mode being a giant head. Because yep he’s a headmaster and had an enormous Titan of a transtector at some point.

Well, I wouldn't say Misty's the most hated character in the fandom. One of the most divisive, sure, but definitely not the most hated. Otherwise, she wouldn't have gotten nearly as high as she did in that Movie 20 poll (top 3, only being beaten out by Serena and Brock, and I suspect Serena was mostly due to her being more recent). I also won't say Serena's the most hated, either, for essentially the same reason.
As far as the online bits, I'll acknowledge there's toxic fans at times. However, I should point out there have been plenty of May fans who go out of their way to attack Misty fans and even Misty herself, even spread defaming lies like her "not doing anything" in Johto, going stale, lacking her temper, holding an egg in the background, all of that. All while outright shilling May. And one of them I most certainly CAN call him a traitor, assuming he was ever loyal to Misty to begin with since he implied in one of his posts on IGN that he's a notorious troll. In fact, part of the reason I joined SPPf and BMGf (my home base was Pokecommunity with its Bring Misty Back club) was to defend the Misty fans from the assaults of those May fans (especially the likes of CyberCubed). And while I'll acknowledge Misty's departure definitely made my ire of May worse, I'll be quick to point out that my intense dislike of May was actually largely unrelated to Misty other than maybe the sense of complete disrespect of how she was replaced regarding characterizations (the fact that I still disliked her successor Dawn about as much despite her having nothing to do with Misty, far less than May, should make that apparent). If anything was directly tied to my dislike of May, it's the following:

And you can blame an ER visit to Scottish Rites right before exams and having to watch (or rather, listen, since I was too scared of being called a baby for watching) an AG episode while waiting for x-rays for pains in my chest for how I came to the conclusion that May was like the above, sounded EXACTLY the same as either what I witnessed directly, or what I've heard of characterizations in the case of Love Hina (if I recall correctly, the episode in question involved a Surskit). Oh, and BTW, those same girls, from Princess vs. Princess (also Love Hina), are also essentially the reason why I'm extremely LOYAL to Misty, mostly because she DIDN'T behave like them at all (at least, not in THOSE particular scenes).
And speaking personally, I actually didn't mind Iris too much. Found her a worthy successor (then again, I hadn't actually watched BW for a variety of reasons, and while I WAS disgusted with how they had Ash's character regress from what I heard, I also had enough sense to not blame Iris for the regression.). In fact, part of the reason I was fond of Iris was precisely BECAUSE of her similarities to Misty from what I could gather of her. Serena's more of a true neutral to me, mostly because I haven't watched XY and have VERY little basis for me to like or dislike her (unlike with May and Dawn, where I at least WATCHED some bits of AG and DP before making a determination). And until I actually HAVE an opportunity to bingewatch episodes of Pokemon that aren't either Indigo League or the most recent series, I HAVE no real way to make any determination first-hand.
Replying to ****IrisHatersSay
Making it its own post since I can't directly reblog due being blocked:
"Anonymous asked: You know Pokémon ranger boy 12? The XY fanboy who sexualizes Serena and literally screamed of S&M- I'm surprised he isn't an iris hater he actually said he didn't mind her
shitirishaterssay answered:
Tumblr media
GIF by youtubevirals I’m sorry, the XY fanboy who WHAT Serena? She’s ten. TEN (yeah, it’s surprising that he apparently doesn’t hate Iris, but that’s not the issue here). What IS it with this fandom and sexualizing underage girls?"
You can blame Masamitsu Hidaka for why there's sexualization for 10 year olds in the anime. Starting with May in fact. Just read up on the 2008 WPM interview with him, and you'll see EXACTLY what I mean by that. A side note, HE'S the reason Misty got kicked off after Johto, even bullied Takeshi Shudo into choosing Team Rocket over her.
To be fair, though, neither Iris nor Serena's ages were actually stated in the anime, so you COULD argue they were ambiguous, but still...

Pedro Pascal's departure from Twitter feels even sadder when you remember that this leaves Brendan Wayne as the only Din who still has a page there. I usually write off his so-called shade towards Pascal as simply him acting overly boastful, but I can't tell whether or not it looks mean of him to Like this:
Tumblr media
I don't know if it was mean. I'm sure BW is well liked and respected by the people on set. But I can see how it's hard when Pedro is getting all the attention. I see his point of view, but I think any shade directed toward Pedro in the past was not necessary either.
