she takes the swell of her lower lip between her teeth, gnawing and gnawing through the pit of anxiety that swims in her stomach. her gaze burns to the horizon, through the thicket labyrinth of trees, because it's easier than having to face conrad and remind herself that he is here. he isn't on the ark, safely tucked away with the rest of humanity to sit comfortably while they wait for the delinquents to report back their vitals. he isn't safely nested in his home, where his bed waits for him, where he doesn't have to crave out the survival instinct that is crucial to survive on the ground.

with a jut within her jaw, finally luna finds some semblance of strength to face him head on when she hears the scratch of his timbre, warming her all the way down to her bones. she hates that even now, he brings some semblance of comfort; a familiarity that she lacks within the abyss of delinquents. "what the hell are you doing here?" she asks, as if he has any control over his fate; as if the ark does not condemn who they feel and damn the rest. it's easier to pretend that he did this to himself, that he could have avoided this outcome had he just participate in her arrest. "you shouldn't be here, conrad."

she remembers the moment that she was able to pick him out from the crowd, standing just a little taller than the rest of the delinquents; or maybe she could know him with her eyes closed. either way, she remembers how the warm hum of adrenaline diluted into staled nerves when she realized that he wasn't on the ark; he's down here. with the rest of them. "why..." she sighs out, approaching slightly with exhaustion bleeding to the surface of her features. "why couldn't you just have arrested me, con?" she asks, brows knitting as she stares up to his tall stature. "you could've avoided all of this mess."

personally I do not understand the obsession with revealing whats underneath the mask a character wears all the time. as far as I’m concerned that mask IS their face. do NOT peel them. that’s the same as the beast from beauty and the beast turning into just some guy at the end
