My Witches Moon box has arrived! The theme of the month is Nature’s Spirit. It’s an absolutely lovely box. As usual, the team over at Witches Moon seems to have predicted exactly what I need each month.

As usual, we received three herbal products. As is often the case, one of them this time is a tea! The Genmaicha Tea sounds wonderful--it contains Bancha Green Tea, Popped Corn, and Toasted Rice. It’s definitely not a tea I’ve seen around at local tea shops, but if it’s as good as it sounds I’ll have to start looking for it.

The smaller packets of herbs are Witch’s Brier (aka Rosehips) and Elder Flower. The Rosehips will be especially useful in the coming months as I’ve got several things planned that could use them!

Smelly items!

The “Earth Smoke Sage” bundle contains White & Mountain Sage (Desert Mugwort).

The salt and oil this month both smell divine. I feel like I must say this every month, but so far this salt is my absolute favorite. It’s called Gaia Sacred Salt, and it contains Cedarwood and Jasmine essential oils, along with White Sage and Cedar Twigs. I think the Cedarwood Oil might be the scent I adore so much, because it is also in the Heart of Gaia oil, along with Jasmine and Sandalwood (another favorite!) oils, Mandrake Root, and White Oak Bark.

This month seems to be the month of the incense burners! This large, filigree disk has five holes for holding stick incense, as well as a small indent for cones or charcoal and resin. It actually matches the tiny Celtic knot incense burner from Box of Shadows very well, though I have a feeling this one will get more use!

We also received a small grounding spell charm. The coin has words to the spell carved on one side and a sigil for the spell on the other. It’s made of durable metal, so you can carry it around in your clothing without worrying about it breaking or wearing down much.

The incense and candle this month are different, but both wonderful. The candle is guaranteed to smell great to me, because it follows the box’s theme of Jasmine, Cedarwood, and Sandalwood essential oils. The incense, according to the description, has a scent of “Tea Fields and Sweet Morning Dew.” I’m not entirely sure what that means, but it’s gentle and fresh and it smells like a sparkling forest full of unicorns.

The crystal this month is big! It’s called Emerald Quartz in the item description, but could also be called Fuchsite Quartz or, in a stone like this which is very weathered and made of many small, melded pieces, Fuchsite Quartzite. It’s very hefty. I will have a difficult time fitting it onto my curio shelf!

And lastly, by a very narrow margin because this whole box has been awesome, my favorite item! This hardcover book came wrapped in an adorable brown paper package to protect it from the herbs and oils in the box. Once again, the Witches Moon team seems to have been creeping in the background of my conversations, because my cousin and I were just discussing this book only a few days ago--she had found it online and was considering buying it. It looks like an amazing resource for all things herbal. I’m so excited to add it to my tiny, ever-growing library!

  Congoers are pumped up at the event. Thanks to Mountain Dew, Monster Energy and Bacchus for providing drinks to every gamer right here. Plus, they also do some challenges for them to try some even big prizes from congoers.

  Sennheiser had an exclusive deals from their latest products like GSP 300, GSP 350, GSX 1000, PC 373 D, GSX 1200, Game ONE Black, and Game ZERO. They also had a freeplay portion on their booth.

  But hey, Synergy 88 looks awesome, too. Aside from having their DJ on top, grooving and making jams for everybody, they also featured some of their latest games like Ang Probinsyano and Barangay 143.

  State colleges and universities are also part of ESGS as they represent their best of the best games, arts, game developments and programs of their school. These cool mechanics from Asia Pacific College are awesome while iAcademy dares to be different and be a game changer on their booth.

  These cool games from different schools are so awesome to look and try these Pinoy games by Indie game developers. But there’s one game that I tried and one of my favorites. And that is Firefly. Firefly is much of a horror game as the person had a nightmare of some horrific creatures and he must avoid these creatures from his nightmare. As like I said, this is one of my favorites because it’s very challenging, very scary but lots of fun to play this game and I think this has the potential of making it on top of the best games in the market.

  Several booths are also in ESGS 2017 like Otaku’s Den, Shop N’ Play, Redmonster Shop, Wallet Codes, Otaku Hobby Toys, Secret Shop and Abubot as they selling their products for gamers to buy at. Gameclub Philippines also had a lot in store for players like lots of freebies, prizes and rewards for everyone.

  This space-looking hub is powered by IMMRSV Asia as congoers toured them into a beautiful looking virtual reality inside. Looks lovely.

  These latest products are also showcased by Red Dragon, Zotac and Gamdias here in ESGS 2017.

  Hellwarders is the latest game by Anti Gravity Game Studios by the way. While Last Regiment is also a new game and they did a freeplay for gamers to test and enjoy at. There’s this Dead Prison in this booth where you can wear a VR gear and shoot some deadly creatures in the game.

  Ranida Games presented this Pinoy made game called Bayani : Kanino Ka Kakampi. This fighting game is truly inspired by Filipino heroes and creatures if I remember correctly.

    The trend of Pinoy these days are flipping bottles and dabbing. But this game, the stakes are high for the Flippy Bottle Extreme as congoers tried this newest game and they dab and dab all along. Meanwhile, Taipei Game Show featured a game called Mokai Adventure. They came here to promote their event in which it will be held in Taiwan this January 25-29, 2018.

    There’s also cosplayers roaming around the event and endorsing brands of every booth.

    I also witnessed the Just Dance 2018 showcase on stage as dancers are giving their best moves and grooves from recent music tracks that we love like 24K Magic by Bruno Mars, Side to Side by Ariana Grande, Despacito, Daddy Cool, Boom Boom and more. The audience was surprised as dancers did a flash mob for everyone to enjoy and dance along with everybody. Even I danced along with them as well.

  The best highlights for this event are tournaments. Participants from Paladins, Heroes Evolved, Brawlfest and Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite are doing their best in the game, to win the game, to win that gold, and to win their territory. The hype, trashtalks, cheers and winning highlights, its so satisfying to look at these gamers enjoying these glorious moments in ESGS.

  There’s also a cosplay competition by Animax where cosplayers put their best costumes and roleplays with their respective characters. I’m not gonna lie but each and every participant throughout the competition are so awesome, they are the best.

    My thoughts for ESGS 2017? Hmm. Overall, this event was a success for me. Each congoer as I encountered is happy and enjoying this event. This event has full of surprises as well. As I asked some of them on how’s their experience, they said that this is one of the best cons that they’ve ever been through. They are so organized and staffs are very accommodating and ready to assist.

  Being a part of the media is one of my unforgettable experience here in ESGS. I would like to thank ESGS and GG Network for having me in this event. I’m looking forward to this event and some of the biggest events next time. Well then, see you on my next coverage then.

A Dive Into Gamer’s Paradise at ESGS 2017 Traditionally, I've been attending conventions on some of the biggest events every year - Cosplay, Anime, Business Expo or even an exhibit.

Whewwww this is a big one, sorry it took so long! After the first answer we’re going beneath a cut.

30. Do they exercise? Regularly? Or only when forced? What do they act like pre-work out and post-work out?

All of Splattershot Sundae, (Simon, Jill, Toda, and Bato) get a fair bit of exercise when they go out and battle.

Both Simon and Bato do some stretches before they start battling, but not longer than a few minutes, Toda considers the first battle his ‘warm up’ and Jill claims she’s always ‘warmed up’.

31. Do they drink? What are they like drunk? What are they like hungover? How do they act when other people are drunk or hungover? Kind or teasing?

These characters are 15-16, they don’t drink yet.

32. What do they dress like? What sorta shops do they buy clothes from? Do they wear the fashion that they like? What do they wear to sleep? Do they wear makeup? What’s their hair like?

As trendy squids do, they stop by places like Jelly fresh to get most of their clothes, and on average wear what they feel comfortable in.

Simon likes to wear jackets and doesn’t usually have too too much skin exposed. They carry a pair of gloves in their pocket as well. They sleep in a T-shirt and soft fluffy pants. Sometimes they wear pink nail polish.

Jill wears whatever looks ‘cool’, and likes leather, and other durable materials like denim. When she goes to bed she wears shorts, socks, and a shirt. She doesn’t like makeup, she thinks it feels weird.

Toda has a preference for long-sleeved shirts, particularly the layered designs, and is never seen without his favorite Squidvader Cap. He sleeps in an old t-shirt and a pair of shorts. His fashion sense could be best described as “comfortable”. He’s never really worn makeup, but it’s not something he’s opposed to.

Bato likes to wear long-sleeved button -up shirts- not ideal for Turf War, but he makes it work- and usually wears a sweatband to keep the sweat out of his eyes. He sleeps in an old and faded pair of pajamas. He doesn’t wear makeup regularly.

33. What underwear do they wear? Boxers or briefs? Lacey? Comfy granny panties?

We’re not describing the underwear of 16 year olds, and we’re gonna guess that this section was picked either randomly, or for some of the other questions!

34. What is their body type? How tall are they? Do they like their body?

Simon is on the shorter, almost stocky side, which they sort of like, but they wish they were just a bit taller.

Jill is built very similar to Simon, as they’re semi-identical. She has a little more meat on her and is perfectly fine in her body.

Toda is a bit taller than the twins, and is built a little leaner. He’s pretty happy with his body, though he jokes that he’ll outgrow Bato one of these days.

Bato is a few inches taller than Toda, and has a more solid build. He’s perfectly happy in his body.

35. What’s their guilty pleasure? What is their totally unguilty pleasure?

Simon’s guilty pleasure is that they like My Little Pony, they miss the times when they could just say that they like it without any negative connotations. They still have some My Little Pony Pajama bottoms.

Jill doesn’t have much guilt about what she does, and is very open about what she enjoys doing. Her most unguilty of these pleasures is eating chocolate so fast that she gets smears all over her face.

Toda’s very unguilty pleasure is going to the ice cream shop for Mochi; he calls it his guilty pleasure, but there’s no guilt in it at all. He sometimes gets it from the store too, but it’s usually not the same.

Bato’s guilty pleasures are the Squidmas movies on what is basically this world’s version of the Hallmark channel, which he used to watch with his Mom when he was little. His unguilty pleasure used to be playing Pokemon games with Toda, but nowadays he’s too focused on turf wars to really pick them back up.

36. What are they good at? What hobbies do they like? Can they sing?

Simon’s really good at battles, obviously, and they take great enjoyment in playing. They are an average singer.

Jill plays MMOs in what spare time she has, and dabbles in ‘the arts’ like doodling and writing and, what do you know, singing. She’s pretty good at it.

Toda’s hobby is playing rhythm games such as DDR and Crypt of the Necrodancer, and he is very good at them. He’s also a decent singer.

Bato doesn’t really have a hobby outside of turf war, but he has a good singing voice. He and his Moms sometimes like to sing along with and harmonize to songs on the radio.

37. Do they like to read? Are they a fast or slow reader? Do they like poetry? Fictional or non fiction?

Simon used to make poetry when they were younger, but they sort of fell out of the habit. They tend to read things over twice, once as a quick skim, and then the second time to really let it soak in.

Jill used to be an avid reader before she got into video games, and has a nice full bookshelf of fictional stories, usually adventure stories. She’s a fast reader.

Toda was mostly indifferent to reading when he was younger, but after doing some online searches to learn more about his monochromacy, he started to do a lot more reading on other disabilities and other eye conditions, from things like deafness and allergies to heterochromia and supertasters. He reads fairly slowly, wanting to make sure he doesn’t skip over too much.

Bato read a lot more when he was younger, but hasn’t had as much time for it as of late. He reads pretty quickly, and usually prefers fictional stories, though he does enjoy reading articles and other things that Toda occasionally links to him.

38. What do they admire in others? What talents do they wish they had?

Simon admires other peoples high tolerance for gross stuff, and they wish they could tolerate next to any form of gunk or germs, but they’re just… scared.

Jill values the strength in others, emotional and physical. Sometimes she wishes she was more alert and less Naive. Acting would also be a cool thing for her to nail down, but she hasn’t set aside the time yet.

Toda admires people’s dedication to the things that they love, and the amazing things that come from it. He wishes, above all, that he could see in color.

Bato admires unconditional love in all its forms, and strives to show such love to the people around him. He often wishes that he was better at dealing with guilt, in both small and bigger cases.

39. Do they like letters? Or prefer emails/messaging?

Splattershot Sundae are big time texters, so fast, they use it to keep in touch and schedule meetups all the time.

40. Do they like energy drinks? Coffee? Sugary food? Or can they naturally stay awake and alert?

Simon has a cup of tea most mornings to wake up, though they might upgrade to coffee when they’re older.

Jill doesn’t need caffeine, but she loves it, having a caffeinated soda at breakfast. Sometimes, when it’s a big day, it’s Mountain dew.

Toda generally saves caffeine for a little later in the day, but on cold mornings he sometimes makes hot chocolate with breakfast.

Bato doesn’t really need the caffeine to stay alert, but once in a while he’ll have a cup of tea in the morning.

On February 14, 2018, a mass shooting occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High Schoolin Parkland, Florida, United States, in the Miami metropolitan area. Seventeen people were killed and 15 more taken to hospitals, making it one of the world's deadliest school massacres. Nikolas Cruz, the man arrested as the shooter, is in the custody of the Broward County Sheriff's Office and has been charged with seventeen counts of premeditated murder. Cruz has confessed to the crime, according to the sheriff's office.

Social media posts by Cruz showed him joking about shooting people with his AR-15 rifle, and he allegedly promised retribution against police officers and anti-fascist organizations. Although no motivations have been offered by prosecutors or police, factors being looked into include "a pattern of disciplinary issues and unnerving behavior".

urban food legends - myth and mockery

Food is the one thing that has an almost mythical status in our culture. There are so many strange and totally weird urban legends surrounding food. Some might be based in reality or as a warning sign for certain health effects but most of them are fucking bullshit. When I was a wee lad, people used to say that bubblegum was made from piglets. Yup, they just chop up piglets in a factory and wrap them in a bubble gum wrapper. And if you swallow chewing gum it will block your intestine and you will die. Another thing I used to hear was to never drink milk after eating fish. Not meat, but fish. Because that would give you the skin condition where your skin breaks out in splotches. Another superstition was to eat a pinch of salt after drinking milk, IFF, you're going out. If you're staying at home that's alright. Drink away. No salt. More recently, someone put a video of a popular indian packed snack being lit on fire. So far so good. Then the video went on to claim that the snack had plastic in it. It created such a hullabaloo that I started seeing print and online ads that screamed that no no no we don't have plastic in our snack. Point is, most things burn. If nothing else you can use the snack as kindling if you're stuck in a forest with a match and a packet of Kurkure. More recently, batboy told me that China is supplying plastic eggs to our great nation. Rrrright. Plastic eggs. That look just like real eggs. But, they're bigger and sometimes longer. Shaped like a tiny submarine. They probably have chemicals in them that are making people a little loco, too. Also, plastic in rice. This might be a bit true, because there is some amount of foreign substances in our foods anyway. And mineral water bottles being filled with ground water. This varies, depending on where you buy the water from. Tiny corner shops for sure get their water filled and sealed from local factories where the conditions are on a negative spectrum of cleanliness. Another one is that red bull enhances your performance in bed. Which is utter bullshit and a placebo. Energy drinks just give you a temporary high and the crash later is not worth it. But, you can and you will build a tolerance to the high if you drink these things too much. So you have to drink more to get same effect. You see where this is going. Then one day your heart fails and you die. My personal favourite is that drinking Mountain Dew kills the sperm. Straight up murders the sperm. Little mountain dew warriors enter your balls and choke each sperm cell with their bare fucking hands. Now, drinking a lot of dew might give your diabetes and heart palpitations but it does not kill the sperm. There are other food urban legends, which I can't recall right now but I'll add to the list if I remember.
