soooo hard for me to verbalize my thoughts on tsuhara but to me its like. they're not Loving and Affectionate. it's not about someone who makes your heart flutter and causes you to kick your feet. sometimes the best person to have in your life is someone you don't feel strongly about because they just bring a feeling of contentness. it's about safety and stability. tsurugi and kinji are both characters who have the capacity for grand emotional moments, but are very controlled (i chose the word Controlled for a reason. restrained.) when they don't have something pushing on them. i think their relationship is about having someone to bring up those more button pushing issues with, who'll remain calm and unaccusatory while you discuss them.

obviously this lends the best to kinji being the one to work tsurugi through his issues in non despair (wherein i think kinjis skills with conversation helped a lot, letting tsurugi get Upset, but not returning it in kind or icing him out, just letting tsurugi say his piece), but i like to think of how this'd apply to future settings too... smthn ive said before is that i think kinji would end up re-evaluating his relationship with the church and what faith means to him, and while i don't think he'd ever turn away from his beliefs, i do think he'd change how he interacts with religion a bit? broadens his world beyond it... and i can see tsurugi being really helpful there. tsurugis issues were more Pressing because his situation was Explicitly Harmful, and knowing what tsurugis dealth with versus where he ended up helps give kinji a frame work for how he feels about his own experiences, and how he wants to handle them.

anyways. its just about a constant, steady presence. someone who can serve as an anchor point/stay strong when you're losing it. and when you've both kinda rearranged yourself, while using that other person as your shoulder to lean on, there's a sense of familiarity that comes with being around them. safe, content, stable.

SORRY I SAID I'LL STOP COMPLAINING BUT i think my problem with this season is that while i do enjoy izzy being accepted and getting along w/ stede, i feel like they kind of went too far too fast w/ him? i'm not saying they did it because he's a fan favourite (well. depends on who you ask, but if you ask normal people,), but it's like -- a franchise has a side character who's well-liked and popular, and they decide to dedicate a spinoff/more screentime to that character, get into the meat of their backstory and so on, and... it's not that good. because a part of this character's charm was their side character status, the way they weren't the focus, weren't entirely fleshed out. i'm about to be incredibly pretentious, but if you read in praise of shadows, it's like the difference between being in a candlelit room with its soft light, vague shadows and atmosphere of mystery, and being in a room that's lit by sharp, ruthless electrical lighting. turn it down a bit!

pistol — it’s his favorite song by them in general, but it’s also his go-to breakup song. sure, he's had lots of flings, but after his first real love, this song is on repeat 24/7. "i’ll waste my time / 'til you lift me off the floor and love me again." mattheo riddle clings. he doesn't know how to move on. this song perfectly captures his desperate need for validation and affection, even though he pretends he doesn’t care.

each time you fall in love — one thing that mattheo is good at, is shutting people out. this song speaks to disillusionment in love, something mattheo would struggle with as someone who yearns for connection yet fears abandonment. the lines “each time you fall in love / it's clearly not enough” and "all I wanna know is if you love her / how come you never give in?" feels like his inner monologue whenever he pushes someone away or spirals into self-doubt.

nothing’s gonna hurt you baby — 100% resonates with mattheo because, deep down, he's desperate to find someone who truly sees him—beyond his father’s shadow, beyond his walls. "nothing's gonna hurt you, baby, as long as you're with me" —the kind of promise he wishes someone had made to him during his lonely childhood, and one he secretly wishes he could make to someone he loves.

apocalypse — i don't know about you guys, but in my head at least, mattheo is a hopeless romantic at heart. he may act like he doesn't need anyone but, this song? it makes him feel like he's dancing with his lover in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, unafraid of death as long as he's wrapped in their arms. buuut that sounds cheesy which is why he'd never tell anyone. “when you're all alone / i'll reach for you / when you're feelin' low / i'll be there too.” oh, how he wishes someone would say those words to him.

sweet — "it's so sweet, knowing that you love me / though we don't need to say it to each other" — yeah, lets be real. words of affirmation is not mattheo's love language, at least not at first. the words, "i love you," scare him. those words mean that everything is real, that there’s no going back. he's got a hesitancy to vocalize things, relying on gestures, touches, and moments rather than words. this song makes him feel like he doesn't need to be ashamed of that.

Speculations on Rafayel’s bond. Just me rambling while working on drafts.

Rafayel mentions that when Lemurians truly love someone all their senses are able to perceive them unquestioned. This makes me wonder how it works, but also to what extent does he feel.

With the latest events and the increase in intimacy the game depicts, I know there are a lot of theories that Rafayel perceived that MC wanted him and was responding to her. That's very possible, but I can't help but ponder more about this bond.

See if 2 Lemurians were bonded, they both would perceive each other, and the emphasis on the word unquestioned implies like almost this inability to resist - which we do see when MC orders Rafayel through their bond. He always questions as a way to resist her, or she explains when she is or is not ordering him, but why would such a bond need to exist between 2 Lemurians? And could not such a bond be taken advantage of by Lemurians as well as humans?

Also, I wonder how Rafayel feels knowing this his partner can never be bonded to him, thus can never feel what he's feeling. Does it bother him or is it a relief? I think that's partly why he keeps asking her that if he became someone / something else, would she still want to be with him? And maybe that also explains why he's more open with wanting her attention - because she can't perceive him like he can. But it probably also hurts him too because somethings are too hard to explain through words, but to not have someone who can feel what you're feeling is a very human reality. We can't experience someone's emotions, and I think it's something that frustrates Rafayel but also eases his worries because that man has secrets galore.

Another thought I had was that, so far, we've only really seen this bond showing up when MC / Rafayel were in intimate situations - like in the ebb and flow story and this recent one. So does it only show up for specific emotions? Or when MC calls out to Rafayel - like how we see in the story where she is drowning and calls out to him (technically this happens twice). If it only appears when MC truly wants him / calls out to him, than that makes the recent intimate event really interesting because it shows how important consent is to Rafayel. Despite knowing emotionally what MC wanted, he still asked her for verbal consent. It's also interesting that he obtains her consent given his history of being enslaved and hunted by humans. The man has god worthy ethics and morals.

BUUUT, if Rafayel can sense all MC's emotions, does that mean he can also sense when MC is in pain or distress? Does that mean he's experienced every death she has? Is that why he knew she was injured in that one audio story, or was the one to wake her from her dream about being a seawitch?

I’m very new to a/b/o fanfics buuut I keep thinking about how possessive they’d get if they smelled another scent on the reader, even if it was just from something like borrowing a sweater. Hey bestie! I decided I'd write a litle smthn smthn for you hehe. I picked geto cause he's more alpha to me. It's below the cut! (suggestive/a/b/o dynamics/jealousy):

"What are you wearing?"

You don't even look up from your desk, a little irritated that your late-night email check has been interrupted.

"Huh?" You scan a subject line and hit delete as soon as you realize it's no more than junk mail.

"What are you wearing?"

Your body jolts. He's using that tone that makes you melt for him- that he only ever uses when he wants, needs, your attention.

You turn quickly in your chair and your heart thumps when you see the angry furrow in his brow. "It's just... a sweater."

A muscle tics in his jaw and your eyes glaze over a little when smell his scent pumping thickly into the air of your office.

"It's not your sweater, and it's not mine. So where did you get it, hm?"

He's moving closer now, his spicy scent growing stronger with every step. You have to blink and swallow just to form a coherent thought.

"I-I got cold at work. A friend offered it to me..."

He's over you now, a hand curled around each arm of your chair, caging you in. A few strands of black hair have fallen loose from his bun and they brush against your face. The feeling makes you shiver.

His head dips until he's buried deep in your chest and you squeak when you hear him inhaling. You know you're in for it.

"It reeks of male."

You sigh, gently pushing him away. "I'm sorry, Sugu. I'll take it off-" You don't even get to finish before you hear a wretched tearing noise. "Suguru!" You can only watch as he literally rips the sweater from your body and then tosses it straight into the trash can. You swat at his shoulder. "That was a coworker's! What am I supposed to tell him when he wants it returned tomorrow?!"

His hands settle on your hips and the touch makes your skin ripple with electricity. His scent is even thicker now and he's so close...

"Tell him he shouldn't go putting his scent all over my omega." Your eyes glaze over and you whimper when a familiar heat starts swirling in your tummy. The primal side of you loves when he gets like this, loves when he stakes his claim.

You gasp when your ass is suddenly no longer in your seat and instead you're dangling in Geto's arms. Your legs swing as he carries you toward the bedroom.

"Sugu-"

"Shhh. We have to get that scent off you, no?" His smirk makes you shiver again. "And I have plenty of ideas on how to do it."
