Proposing and Wedding Headcannons | Hashira
(A/N- This is the Hashira when they propose to you and what their wedding would be like. Also this is GN! Reader)
(Characters Included- Uzui, Shinobu, Mitsuri, Rengoku, and Tomioka)
(Warning: Nothing, just fluff)
Tumblr media
🔊Tengen Uzui🔊
- Uzui would talk to Hina, Makio, and Suma about it first to see what they think. Of course they were thrilled and asked when he was planning to ask the big question.
- He would take you four to a firework show and will propose to you during the flashiest part of the show. Like while he asks you to marry him, there is booming music and bright fireworks in the background.
- When you said yes, Suma was bawling, Makio was a bit annoyed at Suma’s loud crying but kept to herself to not ruin the moment, and Hina was tearing up a little bit at the happiness.
- After you guys planned the wedding, Uzui would visit Rengoku’s place and inform him of the news. He’ll then ask him to be his best man, which Rengoku happily accepted.
- The wedding will be hella flashy and everything will be all organized thanks to Hina.
- You already know that there will be music and tons of food. They do it big because it’s not every day that you’ll have a wedding.
- Suma, Makio, and Hina will insist on making the food since they are so good at cooking and efficient at it too.
You all will have the time of your lives, not worrying about a single thing.
🦋Kocho Shinobu🦋
- Shinobu would be confident that you will say yes but deep down she is a little nervous. In the morning, she will go to the shrine of her sister and tell her what she has planned and that she wishes that she could be there. Little does Shinobu know, her sister’s spirit is smiling down at her for finding happiness and a person that she can love.
- The both of you will be on the rooftop of the butterfly estate, looking at the moon and pointing out the different types of stars, feeling the cool breeze on your skin, soaking in this peaceful moment. She will take your hand and say a few romantic lines and would propose to you then and there, revealing a beautiful ring.
- For the wedding, she would let you decide where it’s at and she’ll make it happen. Though if you can’t make the decision and let her pick, she’ll pick a peaceful place. Somewhere that has a serene atmosphere.
- Only close friends and family would be invited, she wouldn’t want a lot of people there.
- Instead of that usual fake smile she would have on, it’ll be replaced by a real genuine smile, something that isn’t so common. She’ll be genuinely smiling for days, and that’s all thanks to you coming into her life.
🍡Kanroji Mitsuri🍡
- She will have the whole day planned out. Waking you up with breakfast and bed for the both of you, walking around talking and getting some small things from the shops nearby, going to a really good restaurant.
- Finally after the both of you ate dinner, you two will go back home talking about how much fun y’all had. Though she will be evidently nervous about what’s to come. You both will sit on the porch outside of her estate, watching the beautiful sunset until Mitsuri grabs your attention by getting all mushy about how much she loves you and blurts out the big question.
- Her face is redder than a strawberry out of utter embarrassment until you cup her cheeks to snap her out of it and say yes. Then happiness consumed her and tackled you into a big hug, making the both of you fall.
- She would ask her parents where they got married and would want to get married there if you’re okay with it.
- Of course she’ll invite all of her friends and family to the wedding, and yours too if you have any.
- When Obanai first heard the news he’ll go to you and tell (threaten) you that you better take care of her or else. You promise him that she’s in good hands with you and he nods his head. That promise you made him made Obanai approve of you.
- When the day comes and she’s saying her vows and you’re saying yours, she’ll be holding back happy tears. Her life couldn’t be any better.
🔥Kyojuro Rengoku🔥
- He will be excited and optimistic about the proposal he has in mind. A day in advance he’ll practice what he will say right before proposing.
- Rengoku would take you on a date and take you to a town that has a lot of street food. You both will try a lot of things, enjoying each other’s company. After you two had the time of your lives, he’ll walk you to his estate and that’s when he feels like the time is right. So while you’re walking he’ll start saying the lines that he practiced over and over. Then he’ll stop in his tracks, get on one knee, and call your first and last name. When you turn around that’s when he’ll say the big question with a huge smile plastered on his face. The smile will only get wider when you say yes.
- He will let you choose where to have the wedding, he’s happy with whatever.
- He’ll invite his father and little brother, and all the Hashira. Tengen is his best man of course. Rengoku hopes that his father won’t miss out on this once in a lifetime event and will be there for him, but no matter what he won’t let anything ruin the special day.
- The day of the wedding when he’s getting ready, Tengen will be hyping him up and telling him that today will be the best day of his life. Rengoku believes every single one of those words too.
🌊Giyuu Tomioka🌊
- When Giyuu realizes that he wants to take the next step in your relationship, he’ll hesitate. Don’t get him wrong, he really wants to marry you and be able to call you his spouse but he’s scared of getting too close to you. He’s afraid that you’ll just end up leaving so he stops himself from having those thoughts about marriage.
- That was until one day when Tanjiro was visiting him, he could smell that Giyuu was hiding something and that something was bothering him. When he asked him about it he just brushed him off, but Tanjiro could tell that this was something really burdening him so he asked and asked until eventually Giyuu told him. Tanjiro gave some words of encouragement and that got Giyuu thinking. So he thanked Tanjiro and went off to buy a ring for you, hoping that it’ll fit you.
- He would much rather be in the comfort of his own home and propose to you rather than in public. Giyuu will invite you over and hang out. Talking and chilling with each other. He softly smiles whenever you make a joke or will just be talking about whatever. You even pointed out that he was smiling more.
- When you were laying in bed together he was getting a tad bit awkward. He wanted to pop the question now but he didn’t know if he should just say it or what. So when you noticed a shift in his behavior and asked him, he just flat out asked you to marry him.
- He would invite Tanjiro, Urokodaki, some of the Hashira, and that’s it. Of course you can invite whoever you want, he doesn’t mind at all.
- On the day of the wedding, he’ll be really tense out of nervousness but the happiness he feels outweighs it. He will be smiling almost all day.

will not shut up about how bluey's 30 min episode gave us so much more lore and references to the real world
the writes really made so much literal and euphemistic use of the word "sign" in this episode
in chronological order! and spoilers below!!
do let me know if I missed anything out!
FRISKY AND RAD'S WEDDING!!!! in the iconic heeler house!!
bandit's bully bucky dunstan being the real estate agent selling his house
English sheepdog buying the bluey house (emigration - would be nicer if they got english voice actors to voice them though)
the bluey house was actually for sale on an Australian real estate website! and as per the time of writing this post, it's been "withdrawn from sale" - the bluey digital marketing team AMAZES ME.
I wonder which city bandit got a new job in - don't know if they'll explore that in future seasons
bluey's friend the brown dog (I'm sorry I don't know his name) having 2 mums!
winton talking about his divorced parents and the terriers' saying their mom likes winton's dad!!!
jack and his army interest! him and rusty playing army!!
the sitting in a tree, kissing thing that kids do
Jeremy the gnome
bobo being the car's name
frisky's licence plate being fr15k
the first time kids sit in the front seat of the car
police officers pulling people on the road over LMAO
rad's profile picture being him goofing around with his 2 brothers
how realistic it is trying not to lose someone you're following on the road
the butterfly from slide!! 🦋 it has a name! flappy!
everyone being afraid of the butterfly except bingo because we know she loves insects!
chilli reminiscing how she and frisky used to go to the lookout to "think" when we all knew she meant drink LOL
frisky's 3rd friend appears!
BRANDY IS PREGNANT???
the canon in d rendition as bgm
the busker being the priest??
also they got mort and maynard to come attend the wedding too!!
frisky's father is a typical surfer dude lmao
we see trixie standing amongst the girls during the bouquet toss. and then we see stripe come in to intercept the toss. does this mean that stripe and trixie are not married yet and have just been cohabitating? stripe grabs the bouquet and celebrates, but we see trixie face palm... what does this mean??
love the photo montage and the huge family photo, how it shows that you can't get everybody to be ready for the photo
AFTERPARTY
GRANDPA BOB WENT TO INDIA TO FIND HIMSELF 😭 man needed spiritual rediscovery
the busker is the music dj too!!
uh oh... stripe and trixie are fighting... perhaps it was about the bouquet toss? and we see socks playing with the cake toppers - possibly mimicking her parents actions
awww Radley quit his job so that frisky could stay in a city she loved ❤️
they brought back the music from dance mode!
NANA AND BOB FLOSSING!!!
chattermax randomly appearing 😭
bingo getting stuck in the railing again
bingo being sad because she has to move and lila won't be able to follow. which is also the moment I realised they won't be moving in the end, because of the montage at the end of daddy drop-off episode where bingo and lila grow up together and be friends "forever and ever and ever"!
the 2 English sheepdogs pushing their fluff away from their eyes to see haha
THEM SEEING WINTON'S DAD'S HOUSE WITH A POOL WHICH IS FOR SALE BECAUSE THEYRE MOVING IN WITH THE TERRIERS AND THEIR MOTHER!! THEY ALL FIT IN ONE CAR!!!
seeing the iconic bluey house empty, with spots where furniture used to be somehow makes me feel a little empty and nostalgic
the montage of them saying goodbye to their old neighbours, bandit having one last chat with pat, the girls and chilli saying goodbye to judo and her mum
Judo still has short hair!
chilli reminiscing the kitchen because bluey took her first steps there
WHO SANG THAT SONG IN THE END PLEASE RELEASE IT LUDO STUDIOS
THE SHEEPDOGS WENT BACK ON THEIR DECISION TO BUY BLUEYS HOUSE TO BUY WINTON'S DAD HOUSE
you can tell how much chilli didn't want to move as she was the first one out of the car running over to hug him when she realised bandit didn't want to sell the house anymore. and the shoulder shakes shows that she was fully sobbing too
iconic kiwi rug! loved the simplicity of the last scene, where even if there's nothing around you, as long as you're together with the people you love, eating the simplest meal, enjoying the moment, that's family.

Shinobu, I feel that you must know... What's the funniest accident each hashira has had that ended up with them at the butterfly estate to treat their injuries?
“I do know!” She giggled. “I can tell you for sure!
Gyomei has bumped into overhead tree branches before! On one occasion, he returned with a mark on his head and quietly told me what it was from.
Uzui injured his hands after wielding his blades with rings on!
Shinazugawa had a minor concussion after being head butted by young Kamado!
Kyojuro tripped! And he fell! And he hit his head!
Tomioka often finds himself stuck in thorn bushes!
Kanroji had recovered from previous injuries! But upon stepping out of the door, she proceeded to fall and scrape her knees!
Iguro hasn’t experienced anything very embarrassing! Neither has tokito!” -🦋🪻

Every moan was a symphony of her pure bliss from you.
Your cock hitting her in all the right spots, her walls clenching around yours. "Kee-Keep going,"
Her voice had always been so sweet, so pure. All you wanted to do was ruin it. Make her throat sore for days, so much so that tea wouldn't help.
Your teeth grazed her neck, biting down harshly. The metalic taste lingering in your mouth, caressing your tongue. Had Shinobu always been this loud? She certainly was an annoyance. Poking you constantly, moaning in your ears during Hashira Meetings.
Soft purple locks tickled your nose, her screaming filling the void of the estate. Thank God all the butterfly girls were on a field trip with Mitsuri, or else they'd hear how hard you were banging the insect Hashira.
"F-fuck—!" Shinobu's back arched, pressing her chest against yours in the midst of it. Feeling just how hard her nipples were, astonishing how the human body could do such things. Pathetic even.
"I am fucking you," You retorted, giving an extra hard thrust into her, earning a gasp while she drooled. You filled her up so nicely, and this was the only way she could get her anger out. "Shut the fuck up-!" Your knife was immediately against her throat, the serrated edge gliding across her sweaty skin. How long have you been at this, 1, maybe 2 hours?
"Tell me that again and see what fucking happens." That seemed to get her quiet real quick, especially when you pressed the knife harder against her flesh, small dribblets of blood oozing onto the cool steel.
Only a few more thrusts and you were undone, warm seed spilling into her tight cunt for the 4th time. Beautiful purple gradient eyes stuck onto you, half lidded with a smile. "So glad we made the arrangements for you to fuck sense into me," You chuckled leaning down to the other side of her neck.
"We are just getting started."

"𝐀𝐇! 𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒 𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐎𝐁𝐔!"
Hello my dear! I am Kocho Shinobu, both the Incect Pillar and the head doctor at the butterfly estate.
I am the younger sister of Kanae Kocho, the former Flower Hashira. I vow to plot my revenge on a certain demon, Uppermoon Two to be more specific. I may not be able to behead a demon but don't expect me not to kill you with my poisons. I have absorbed at least 37 kilograms of Wisteria Poison, Which is about 70 times the lethal amount.
I now wait for his death. I am 18, I have an adopted sister, Kanao Tsuyuri. She is an amazing girl and very hardworking.
Tumblr media
I like to tease Tomioka-San all day since nobody likes him and he doesn't have any friends! How unfortunate.
I'd love any type of asks! To normal, To RP, and NSFW! But if like no pro shippers, pedos, anything with incest or anything weird like that.
Ah, it seems that I have to go now, please talk to me if you have time 🦋💜

🦋 Hello there! Thanks for sharing your thoughts :) I'd actually prefer to stay quite optimistic about Saul getting his happy ending in a hypothetical series three, yet preceded by a lot of angst. He was indeed left by himself at the end of series two – all his friends are either dead or betrayed him, there's no even Rosalind to sort of give him some sense of purpose, and with Sky I think he lost that parent-child connection. I find it quite interesting in fact that Andreas was the reason for Sky and Saul being a family for each other once and the reason for them becoming familiar faces only. Personally, the moment he burns down their home feels more like an act of him destroying the memories they shared. And then it follows by Sky killing his father to save Saul, so I think it's when they switch places that makes Saul be indebted to Sky, not the other way round anymore.
Also I would love to hear more about Griselda. Is this a character that beautiful fandom came up with or is she from the original which, sadly, I never watched?
aww thanks for the little butterfly signature, it's so cute!
Hey I'll definitely sign up if there's heavy angst for Saul!! And I loved your point that Andreas twice becomes the reason Saul & Sky become a family. I could write endless works on why Andreas burned that house down out of jealousy/rage of being replaced/if-I-couldn't-have-Sky-then-you-don't-get-to-have-him-either/I must destroy the all parts of Sky that respect Saul, from their house to his "weakness" on the sparring mat.
And as much as I wish they couldn't done the Andreas death scene so much better, I DO love that it now puts Saul and Sky on the same level. They've both killed Andreas. They've both killed Sky's father. What does that mean for Sky's remaining father? Will Sky finish the cycle? Will Saul finish it for him?
Okay well that's enough angst for now!! I just posted the Griselda hc, you should see it right before this answer on my blog. I never watched the OG either so I'm no expert but from osmosis of being in Fate for a while I gather she was a headmistress of Alfea at some point in the show. But that just means she's free real estate for FTWS S3 headcanons!

Take Care of Yourself: Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Story Summary: Aspiring Demon Slayer Giyu Tomioka is on a quest to prove himself, and he doesn't think it matters too much what happens to him in the process. When he winds up in the hospital again, however, he discovers there is someone who does.
Giyu & Shinobu's relationship through the years and an origin story of how they became friends.
Fandom: Demon Slayer/Kimetsu no Yaiba
Genre: Friendship, Developing Friendship, Hurt/Comfort, Angst
Relationships: Giyu Tomioka & Shinobu Kocho Friendship (though I suppose you could take it in a romantic way if you really wanted it to be) [A/N: This story focuses on how their relationship developed over time and how deeply and genuinely they care about each other so how you want to qualify that (platonic or romantic) is really up to you. My intention was to write about their platonic friendship, but I have been told that the final chapter could lean a little more romantic than the others(?) so warnings for that upfront...]
Characters: Giyu Tomioka (POV Character) and Shinobu Kocho. [Kanae Kocho and Sabito are mentioned but do not physically appear in this story. Sanemi Shinazugawa is briefly mentioned once in every chapter as an easter egg for my sister who loves him and encouraged me to write this story in the first place].
Rating: T for Thematic Elements (Please see "Warnings" below for more details)
Warnings: Heavy themes (i.e. grief, emotional trauma, & survivor guilt), mentions of (non-depicted) past deaths, and depiction of injuries as well as some discussion of demon slaying violence related to those injuries. Ch. 3 has some action sequences and mild, non-gory/non-graphic depictions of demon slaying. All chapters contain SPOILERS for and through Ch. 131 of the manga. Ch. 3 & Ch. 4 contain vague spoilers from and through Ch. 163 of the manga and some related foreshadowing.
Word Count: 1465 (Chapter 1) [7573 Total]
Link to original post on AO3. Please do not repost to another site.
Tumblr Link to the Next Chapter: Chapter 2
Note: This is an older story of mine, but I am posting it here to Tumblr for Shinobu's upcoming birthday (since as much as I want to write another story to celebrate my favourite Demon Slayer character, I'm afraid I will not have time this year...)
Chapter 1 below the cut. Please note: This chapter contains spoilers through Ch. 131 of Kimetsu no Yaiba/Demon Slayer manga so please proceed with caution if you do not want to be spoiled. Thank you for reading! 🦋
“Ah! Tomioka-san!” exclaimed Shinobu Kocho nearly dropping the tray of medicines she was holding. “Why didn’t you call for someone when you woke up?”
Giyu shrugged. Though he could hear voices from other wards in the Butterfly Estate’s hospital, the beds on either side of his were both empty, and his broken jaw and mangled throat were not conducive to calling out loudly for help. Kocho must have realized this as well as she added hurriedly, “Don’t answer that.”
Giyu blinked at her as she steadied herself and picked up some of the vials that had tipped over in her shock. His head throbbed, and he felt a sharp pain in his left leg—it was probably broken as well.
“You’ve broken your leg and several ribs,” Kocho confirmed as she set the medicine tray on the nearby table. “Not to mention your jaw and what happened to your throat—I assume that demon tried to strangle you?”
Giyu nodded. That was one of the most vivid memories he had of his most recent battle. The rest were a hazy mess in his subconscious. Kocho nodded stiffly and took a seat on the stool at his bedside. She motioned to a thick bandage on his right arm and one on his abdomen before taking his hand and pressing her thumb to his wrist to take his pulse. “You lost a lot of blood. We gave you a transfusion, but you’ve been fighting low blood pressure for awhile now.”
“How long was I out?” he asked in a whisper so gravelly and hoarse he could scarcely believe it had come out of his own mouth.
“Two weeks,” said Kocho almost stiffly but her hands were shaking slightly as she let go of his wrist. Giyu’s eyes widened. When he had awoken weary and aching, connected to all kinds of medical instruments, he had assumed he had been unconscious for a couple of days but two weeks…?
“Did I miss anything important?”
Kocho blinked at him for a split-second before she tilted her head and flashed that teasing smile of hers, “Guess you’ll never know, will you?”
Giyu sighed slouching back against the headboard in the hopes of appeasing his broken ribs which, it seemed, strongly objected to him sitting up. His eyebrows twitched almost wincing as he shifted, and if he didn’t know better, he could have sworn Kocho’s face softened for just a moment. However, the frown which almost immediately followed suggested otherwise.
“This is the fourth time you’ve been in here in the past two months.” She huffed. “You’re almost as bad as Shinazugawa-san.”
“Who?” asked Giyu.
Kocho huffed again and rolled her eyes. “He calls himself a demon slayer but his weapon of choice is his fists. He’s in here nearly every other week. I told Nee-san we should tell him we’re not going to wrap his wounds for him again until he stops being so reckless, but she has this strange fondness for him.” Kocho rolled her eyes again as she began removing the bandages from his arm. “With how often you’re both here, I’m surprised you haven’t met each other yet.”
Giyu shrugged. In the short time that had passed since he had joined the Demon Slayer Corps, he hadn’t met many people mostly by choice and partially because of his reserved, introverted nature. The two Kocho sisters were the only other demon slayers he saw regularly, but that was only because he was constantly injured. Despite being so young, Kanae and Shinobu Kocho were talented healers who converted their home into a hospital for wounded demon slayers, and Giyu often felt he spent more time in the Butterfly Mansion being treated and rehabilitated than he spent out in the field. He supposed this Shinazugawa-san was the same.
Kocho hummed as she unspooled some of the new dressings for his arm. “I guess we do try to keep Shinazugawa-san away from the other patients. He is very disruptive and generally unpleasant.” She sighed. “But you really got yourself beat up this time—you’ll probably be here long enough to run into him.”
Frowning, Kocho picked up his arm and examined the deep gash from his shoulder to elbow. “I don’t even know how you got some of these injuries. What happened?”
“I fought a demon…” he answered dryly—tilting his head. He wasn’t sure he understood the question.
Kocho glared at him and huffed, “You acted recklessly. You can’t keep breaking the same bones and sustaining all of these injuries. Your body won’t be able to handle it.”
Giyu blinked at her. What exactly did she expect him to do? This was the Demon Slayer Corps after all.
Kocho’s movements tensed as she began to wrap his arm. He could tell she was angry, but her hands were gentle as she bandaged his wound. “Every time I see you, you’re in worse and worse shape—maimed, seriously injured—and I know it’s not because of your abilities. Everyone is talking about you. You’re very powerful. They say you’re going to be the next Water Hashira. But you run around with a wanton disregard for your life! It’s one thing to be brave and make sacrifices, but you don’t seem to care one way or another what happens to you. I can’t tell if you’re foolhardy or just an airhead.”
After a pause, Giyu replied, “I’m not foolhardy or an airhead.”
“You could’ve fooled me,” huffed Kocho pulling the bandage tightly. Giyu’s face twitched, and she loosened her grip though she glowered at him, “Why do you do this to yourself? Are you trying to get yourself killed?”
Giyu shrugged. After joining the Demon Slayer Corps alone, he had felt so lost. Taking missions, defeating demons, and protecting people, almost made him feel like he had a purpose again, but he knew no matter how many demons he slayed and how high he rose in the ranks, nothing he did could ever make up for his Final Selection. In the end, he wouldn’t be able to earn his right to be here. The best he could do was protect who he could with whatever borrowed time he had left. “I’m doing my job. I don’t think it matters what happens to me.”
Abruptly, Kocho stopped wrapping his wound and stood up from her stool. Despite being so petite, she seemed to tower over him formidably. Her brow furrowed, and she clinched her fists. “Are you stupid or something?” she demanded. “Why would you say something like that? Some nonsense like it doesn’t matter what happens to you? Yes, you’re a demon slayer and you very well may have to make the ultimate sacrifice one day, but that doesn’t mean you should be so careless with your life! You joined the Corps to protect people, didn’t you? Well, what would’ve happened to those people you just saved if you weren’t there? You can’t protect anyone if you’re dead!” She paused huffing as if trying unsuccessfully to calm herself down, but she had never seemed so angry. Her words seemed to tumble out of her mouth faster than Giyu could keep up with them. “You are strong and powerful, and you have your life. There are a lot of people who can’t say that. You can’t just throw it all away without a fight! It’s not brave or noble, it’s just reckless and…and selfish!”
Giyu looked up at Kocho’s glowering face and stormy eyes. He had seen this look before. Something inside him twisted, and his chest ached. Someone he had cared about very much had used the same kind of tough love—somehow Giyu had almost forgotten. His eyes grew almost misty at the thought—Sabito probably would’ve liked Kocho.
Giyu sniffled, and Kocho’s expression faltered. She turned away from him abruptly and fidgeted. “Uh…that was a little harsh,” she said in a softer, uneven tone. She swallowed as she took her seat on the stool again. “I didn’t…” she stopped abruptly. “What I meant was…”—Her face softened just slightly—“You should take care of yourself. That’s all.”
Giyu felt something twist in the ache in his chest. He had lost so many people and had been alone for so long. He couldn’t remember the last time someone had told him to take care of himself. Something prickled behind his eyes, and his mouth just barely turned up in the corners bitter-sweetly as he choked out in a gravelly whisper, “Thank you.”
Kocho’s eyes widened, but she cleared her throat and looked away from him. “If you really want to thank me, you’ll stop being so reckless,” she said tying off the bandages on his arm. “I don’t want to see you back here for a long, long time.”

The Story of Moon and River
Tumblr media
Summary: Some insights to Moon and River's marriage. Characters: Moon Perhonen Butterfly-Johansen, River Johansen (NPC), Stella "Star" Butterfly (mentioned) Word Count: 2,130
He’d charmed her when they were children, sitting together in mid-summer, watching their families play Game of Flags. A ‘brutal’ fight for dominance, a variation of King of the Hill. With magic, and wrestling, weapons, risk…
River Johansen, 14, too young to play. Menodora Perhonen, 13, too valuable to play.
They sit a respectable distance apart, seeing as Menodora was a future Countess and River was from a noble family but not nearly as ‘important.’ Menodora thought that was a useless comparison.
It wasn’t until she was sixteen that she had played Game of Flags. What a terrible, terrible year.
🦋 —------- 🦋
…”You won't be playing Flags today,” Moon would tell her daughter one day. “Why not? You played Flags when you were my age,” her daughter would protest. “I did a lot of things you won't be doing” …
🦋 —------- 🦋
The next summer: River, 15. Menodora, 14. The same place, under the summer canopy.
He sits closer to her then, only by a few inches. They sit and laugh, ignoring the brutal game before them. If asked, neither of them would remember who would win.
“You’re the future Grevinde,” River had said, realizing he was getting too familiar.
Menodora had laughed, the use of the future, formal title tickling her. “That doesn’t make me so special.”
River blushes. “Well, I think you’re special no matter what.”
Was it flirting then? Was it being friends? She wondered how many times River had made her laugh in those earlier years. He had come by the estate a few times, against his parents' wishes, bringing flowers from his own home. She had found them quite charming, a departure from the heather that grew around hers.
She’d invited him for dinners, walks on the moors, an odd swim in the river (much against everyone’s advisement.)
It was never an issue. River treated her with the utmost respect.
If Moon was more cynical, more aware, she might have admitted that – aside from her mother – River was the only person who really treated her like a person.
🦋 —------- 🦋
“I don’t understand why you like him,” Hekapoo had said, rolling her eyes at the notion of River having another dinner with the family. “Oh, leave her be,” Comitessa had said, pulling yet another pie from the oven. “He’s just a friend, Hekapoo.” “And if he becomes more than that–?” Was the reply.  Menodora sat quietly in the corner, her history books in front of her face, relatively ignored.
🦋 —------- 🦋
Menodora had invited two people to that fateful banquet. Her advisor, tutor, and closest friend…. And River. River, who had sat next to her at her special invitation. Sure, his father gave her a sideways look, but he also seemed to appreciate the way she was kind to his son. The way she didn’t lead him on – since River’s own insistence was that they were friends.
He’d been the one to walk her to her room when she’d gone nearly comatose from the shock of the evening. After all her tears had been used up and countless people had failed to pull her from the bloody hall.
River had pulled her up and supported her as they walked somberly through the halls.
“She was a good woman,” River had said, his words barely above a breath.
Moon sniffed. Part of her wanted to snap and she that her mother is a good woman, or is the best person… but the fire dies in her as River squeezes her hand.
They hadn’t kissed or even hugged that night. He’d left her off to her room before traveling home at night himself. She’d been grateful, but unsure how to express that gratitude in all her mourning.
🦋 —------- 🦋
“Maybe w-we should let Moon decide. She is the queen,” River says, meekly. They were standing over a makeshift war table. River, herself, some lords and ladies, Hekapoo and Mina, and the rest of the Commission… Moon had smiled at him. Another Lord, Mildrew, had protested. “She just lost her mother, River. She needs time with her feelings.” Moon had tightened her smile, and attempted to look regal. (She was only sixteen.) “I am the Countess now, so I will make the decision. My decision... is that I will make a decision at dawn.”
🦋 —------- 🦋
Why had she said decision so many times?
River had caught up to her, both of them in their mourning blacks. Some others had been so kind as to don them, but not many. Power struggles brought out the ugliest of people.
He’d brought her some food while she paced nervously in the hall. Protein-rich, she’d noted.
“It’s how we Johansens apologize,” River had said, and suddenly he seemed self-conscious of it. The Countess Menodora was a lady. Apology Meat wasn’t the thing she needed. Maybe it was…
She hugs him, carefully not to topple the plate in his hands. He’d awkwardly rested his hand on the small of her back. She had appreciated it greatly.
When they did finally break apart, she took the plate gratefully and went back to her room to think about her decision.
And with strength, or cowardice, she didn’t understand…
She turned to unknown, unspeakable help.
🦋 —------- 🦋
“Countess Moon! You did it!” “Oh, my gosh, River!” A hug. “Thank you!”
🦋 —------- 🦋
“Menodora, your hands,” he’d murmured when they were finally alone, waiting in the War Room for the Commission's arrival.
She’d barely noticed by that point, adrenaline pouring from her like a flood. She was exhausted, the magic of the Darkest Spell overwhelming,
“It’s nothing,” Moon had said, brushing him off. She was not going to look weak in front of The Commission. She was not going to have anyone question her.
He doesn’t let her brush him away. He takes her hand, insistent. She could say something, argue with him. Spit back words that could be hurtful and terrible.
She doesn’t. It’s at this moment she realizes he knows what she needs.
He holds her hands close, kisses her magical scars, and gives her another hug. Something more than what it had been before. Something supportive and not so hesitant.
Moon cries then, as she hadn’t let herself do since the actual banquet. The sting in her hands and wrists is persistent, and she doesn’t know what it is she can say now to make it go away. She doesn’t think she can make it go away.
He’d found her a book, later, on glamours and illusions. She was no illusionist herself, light magic having been her specialty, but she was able to master one spell. Her hands appeared as they once did with such a spell, no longer showing the dark magic, or the burns she acquired in her training.
Things could have been ideal.
And then they sort of were.
🦋 —------- 🦋
Summer, once again: River, 20. Menodora, 19. The Veranda.
She had said ‘yes.’
🦋 —------- 🦋
They got married under a similar canopy as the one they’d first met under. Even the heather seemed to sing in celebration as Moon had walked through it, white dress and all.
It was strange to have a wedding like this, with no mother or father to walk her down the aisle. It was offered to her by some relatives, but she’d evaded their generous suggestions. She walked by herself, her train staining purple in the heathered-dew.
🦋 —------- 🦋
“She’s perfect.” “She has your eyes.” “That doesn’t say much, my eyes change as easily as the weather.”
🦋 —------- 🦋
It was years until Stella was born. Almost long enough that Moon may have given up hope. Your late twenties was borderline unacceptable, according to some members of the Commission.
How archaic to expect her to provide an heir.
In some ways, they blamed River. Moon thought that was wholly unfair. It was her fault, it had to be. Something was telling her she wasn’t ready to be a mother. Or maybe it was something she hadn’t wanted.
She could admit she was wrong when she first held Star.
River had held Stella out to her, but Moon had hesitated. Her hands were stained like pitch, There was something so unclean about the idea of holding someone so perfect as Stella with hands that had come even close to killing.
But Star reached for her first.
And then there was nothing to keep Moon from her daughter.
River had taken a photo of them that day, locked in a box away from the rest of the world. It’s the only photo Moon has with her stained hands. And it was…. It hurt.
Is that hiding? She’s always hiding things from Stella. It doesn’t make for the best relationship.
‘Because I said so,’ isn’t the best parenting. But it’s what Moon knew.
🦋 —------- 🦋
A conversation that never happened: Star: Why?! What happened to cool warrior countess Mom?! Moon: I was never a cool warrior countess, Star. I was a happy-go-lucky girl like you. Or… it hasn’t happened yet.
🦋 —------- 🦋
“You’re rubbing your hands again,” River says, approaching his wife. He holds out his own hands, and Moon does as she always does. She reaches out and takes them, allowing River’s thumb to run over the backs of her hands.
It’s soothing. Calming.
Star, 10, plays out in the garden, chasing butterflies outside the grand windows. Moon sits by the window seat, River joining her.
“You worry too much, my dear,” River says, quietly. His voice is lower, and he’s grown into his features. He’s handsome, her’s kind. Sure, he can be rambunctious and, affectionately, absurd. He loves her, though. That’s something Moon would always appreciate. “You’ll wear your hands smooth.”
Moon smiles wryly. Says nothing.
River pulls them closer and kisses them. Her palms, wrists… slowly, the darkness washes over them, the glamor melting away. He’s the only one who gets to see this weakness. He’s the only one she’ll permit to see this failing of hers. Only one other person had seen it, besides. And they didn’t matter anymore.
“She won’t hate you for these things,” River says, what he means remaining unsaid but loudly understood.
What he means: Going to drastic lengths to protect the County. What she thinks: For becoming a monster myself.
“It’s because she doesn’t know yet,” Moon says. “The moment she does…” She pulls her hands back, “she’ll turn from me. I expect it, I know it. She’ll be disappointed. She is too good and too kind for the world she’s inheriting.”
It’s a bitter thought that River is far too familiar with.
“You, my dear, need to be kinder to yourself,” He chides. “You say such horrible things about yourself, and think even worse. You forget that I know you, and I love you despite all the faults you think you have. I think you ought to do the same.”
Moon shakes out her hands, the illusion resuming. She finds herself tired, suddenly. River stands with her, offers his arm. Let’s go for a walk in the heather, my love. It would do you good.
🦋 —------- 🦋
“I don’t want to fight you!” Moon cries, light sword in hand, ready to swing. Hands tense. “Then don’t!” River says, calmly, dropping his own flag. A betrayal to his family on such a day as this. “You don’t have to prove yourself to anyone. Especially me.”
🦋 —------- 🦋
The Game of Flags was an annual occurrence. Possibly a fight to the death, in the name of honor and bragging rights. It was a silly Mjaunie custom, but Moon found that any tradition had at least some place. They wouldn’t be anywhere without the past lighting the way to the future.
River walks towards where the two of them had been sitting, Moon laying back against the grass. They are exhausted. Tired. Her hair is pinned up off of her neck, her dress looks like it had been through a war of greenery.
Had Moon won? Yes. Did she feel she earned it? Not really.
Comitessa Perhonen is nearby, packing up the copious number of dessert tins that she’d brought. Moon’s Aunt Etheria was busy talking Moon up to another lord of another house.
“I– I brought you some water,” River says, sitting beside her.
Moon, an arm over her eyes, smiles without looking at him. “That’s very nice of you,” she says, sitting up. She takes the water, sipping it down, keeping her eyes averted from River. Then, after a moment, “I’m sorry you didn’t win.”
River smiles softly, and it strikes Moon in a way. A flutter in her stomach. In her chest.
“I think we both won today,” River says with that same soft smile. “When you win, I win, Moonbeam. I think that’s pretty fair, don’t you?”

It's December 28th. 🦋 On this day in 1973, US President Richard Nixon signed the Endangered Species Act into law. This act is considered to be one of the most significant and influential environmental laws in American history. At first glance, it appears to be no more than a federally-maintained list of animals on the brink of extinction, but it goes much deeper than that. This law supports federal agents, activists, and everyday people in their efforts to save endangered species.
The Endangered Species Act provides for the conservation of threatened and endangered plants and animals and their habitats – from iconic creatures like the Bald Eagle to lesser-known critters like the Island Night Lizard. The US Fish and Wildlife Service, the agency charged with enforcing the Endangered Species Act, currently lists nearly 1,500 endangered and threatened species in the US. The law requires all federal agencies to ensure that their actions don't jeopardize any endangered species or their habitats.
There have always been conflicting views of the Endangered Species Act, and the Supreme Court has often had to intervene to settle disputes. Conflicts have often involved non-governmental conservation groups like Greenpeace and their tireless efforts to block potentially damaging actions by real estate developers, fossil fuel companies (oil spills, strip mines, pipeline routes, fracking, etc.), and the military (national security issues such as Navy sonar vs. whales).
The US currently suffers from growing political extremism. The Endangered Species Act is barely strong enough right now to safeguard our animal and plant populations. We need to make sure it's able to continue protecting our biodiversity and natural habitats into the foreseeable future because the danger of mass extinctions is real and looming.
We can do this. We succeeded in bringing the whooping crane, gray wolf, monarch butterfly, grizzly bear, American alligator, and so many more species back from the brink of extinction. This isn't our first rodeo. ☮️ Peace… Jamiese of Pixoplanet

🍭🍭CLARA IN THE BUTTERFLY ESTATE🍭🍭
Ok it’s been discussed in a thread with @pluviacuratio so here are some headcanons about it!
🦋She comes there on evenings and weekends. On particularly late nights, she will stay overnight, since it’s safer than traveling around after dark.
🦋Clara grew up hella rich and has never done housework or cooked for herself, so she struggles a lot with it. She made a lot of mistakes (and almost burned the place down), so she is not allowed to do it unsupervised yet.
🦋She wants to get along with the other girls. She even tries to be cordial with Aoi, but things are kind of tense after she sent her that creepy letter, even though she apologized.
🦋Due to her experience with vet science, she is not very squeamish when it comes to medical work, but is kind of awkward with bedside manner, especially with Hashira (except for her boy Rengoku). She can’t talk to humans like she talks to birds!
🦋People react to her the same way they do on the street when she comes to look after them. It’s either “oh shit a foreigner (scared)” or “OH SHIT A FOREIGNER (excited!)” or “wtf is that thing”. None of them faze her anymore. She welcomes questions about it.
🦋She still cares for the Kasugai crows a lot and is happy to fix them up. She loves all of them and is noticeably livelier when interacting with them. Similarly, she will deal with any scary bugs people come across. She will get mad if you kill them first! So beware...

shinobu with a fellow hashira who's as aloof as giyuu, but like. i dont wanna say emo but yeah, kinda like that. dark clothing, personality and all that shit, so shinobu teases them probably a LOT more then giyuu, because theyre much more interesting to get a reaction from? plus, she kinda wanna know more about them
but one day, they show her something really cute or tell her smth that's ooc? like they show her a bright pastel colored haori they own and wear secretly? when shinobu asks, they SMILE and say "because no one would believe you" as a small pay back for her teasing them. and its true! whenever she tells someone, they'd laugh and say "y/n? nah,"
and so this happens more and more, them giving her silly facts about themselves, and everyone notice how more and more pissed shinobu towards them, while they keep a blank face.
when shinobu finally tells them to fuck off with the random facts, reader smiles again and says "what other way would i let you know i like you?" or smth?
:) thank you
An unbelievable fact
A/N: Hello Mar! Thank you for stobbing by! I hope I wrote your request just the way you like it! If I didn’t, then I’m really sorry!
Gender neutral reader.
NOT PROOFREAD, sorry
Tumblr media
🦋- Shinobu never knew that day would come. When there were a pillar more pleasing to tease than Giyu
🦋- Shinobu just had to have one look at you and that was the moment she knew you were the perfect victim.
🦋- She poked you and did all that she does with Giyu
🦋- Giyu noticed Shinobu wasn't teasing him as much she used to which Giyu was thankful for. He wondered if the Gods have finally heard his prayers, better late than never am I right? Anyways- he can finally rest without being reminded 24/7 how lonely he is and that he has no friends
🦋- Shinobu would probably never admit it but she teased you also because she wanted to know more about you, and she wants your reaction.
🦋- If she’s lucky you might reveal something about yourself while she’s teasing
🦋- For an example if you had siblings then maybe it would go something like.
“My my, you know it’s not kind to ignore me like this. Do you treat your family like this too?”
“No I have siblings to take care of”
Somewhere like that she hoped it would go like.
🦋- It went on and on like this until one day out of the blue you invited her to town and later to your mansion
🦋- While you were there you showed Shinobu your haori you wore secretly. Shinobu nearly choked on her spit when she saw it. You told her you love to wear it on your sparetime
🦋- Shinobu finally asked. “Why are you showing me this?”
You looked up at her and smiled one of the most michevious grins the woman ever had to witness.
“Because no one would believe you”
🦋- Shinobu really said “aight, bet” and she told everyone about it or at least the hashiras when they were at a resturaunt
🦋- You weren’t there sincee you had other stuff to do
🦋- When Shinobu broke the news it went all silent before Tengen bursted out laughing.
“Y/N? Nah. OH, Kocho, the next thing you’re gonna tell me is that Giyu can sprout wings and fly!” Tengen said bostirously and slammed Shinobu’s back earning a deadly glare from her that made him fall silent.
“I can hardly believe that Y/N would own something like that!” Kyojuro suddenly spoke up. Shinobu sighed and turned to Mitsuri.
“You believe me right?”
“Ehh, I don’t know!” Mitsuri squealed, feeling pressured from Shinobu’s intense stare and everyone else’s. Obanai discretly held Mitsuri’s hand which was enough to calm her down to continue. “Uhmm, if what you’re saying is true, then I would love to see it” Shinobu felt betrayed. Not even her own best friend believed her! Y/N was right, no one would believe her
🦋-  After you got injured on a mission and was escorted to the butterfly estate again, you sent Shinobu a knowing smile while she looked like she was about to claw your face out
🦋- When she took care of your bandadges you began to tell her other facts about yourself, obviously the silly ones that no one would believe
🦋- Shinobu tried again to tell her fellow hashira friends about you but they didn’t believe her. Shinobu was about to rip her hair off
🦋- She was PISSED, never in her life has she been so humiliated by the person she was supposed to tease
🦋- Everytime she sees you, you send her that “shit eating grin” as she would quote it as.
🦋- Everyone in the butterfly estate noticed the way she looked at you, not the “in love” kind. It’s more like “I will flip this whole place upsidedown and I’m gonna bury you underneath it”. To say the least, everyone is very concerned for you.
🦋- Tanjiro can smell the thick air surrounding Shinobu whenever she’s treating you while he’s just standing there hoping that he can get Shinobu before Inosuke punch Murata another black eye.
🦋- Shinobu sputed off teasing comments and roasts at you while you sat there with a blank face. You gave Tanjiro a small wave while he silently prayed for Murata that Shinobu was done so he could help the poor boy from Inosuke
🦋- Finally when you told Shinobu a silly fact she angrily told you to “fuck off” and you smile at her. “what other way would I let you know I like you?” Shinobu paused.
“What?” She asked and you giggled.
“I like you! I only share these facts with someone when I like them” You explained.
“Well, there are others way to do it” Shinobu deadpanned.
“I know, but I also wanted to get revenge for all the teasing you did. Giyu might not retaliate but I will” Shinobu shrugged.
“Fair enough” Shinobu said, hunched over in slight defeat. You patted her back for comfort.
🦋- From there on out you still gave Shinobu some silly facts, Shinobu didn’t react so angry about them as she did before. Shinobu actually asked if you would ever reveal your secrets to the others, but that is up for you to decide ;)

Mitsuri, Giyuu, Shinobu, and Kyojuro being in love with a Fem!Hashira
🍡 Mitsuri Kanroji
Tumblr media
woah! you're so beautiful!
that was the first thought that ran through her head when you were introduced into the corps
i think that she would be a person to fall in love at first sight tbh
she was much too shy to approach you! way too scared she would trip over her words!
definitely fine from admiring you from afar
loves making up scenarios about you both being together in her head...and then she dies from how cute they are
always asks if you'd like to accompany her on missions
i think she would make little bento boxes for you to share!
always lets you have as much of her sakura mochi as you'd like
honestly i feel like she wouldnt care or even think about the fact that you're another girl. she'd just be like "oh shit im in love," however she wouldn't say anything in fear of ruining your friendship
but when you pull her aside one day and tell her how you felt, she was so happy that she started crying
"oh, (name)! i-i love you too!"
*cue angry obanai noises*
🌊 Giyuu Tomioka
Tumblr media
at the beginning, he wasnt really interested in you
i mean, he did want to be your friend but he didnt think of you romantically
until....
UNTIL??
until you walked over to him one day and tried to spark up a conversation with him
he was taken aback but did have small, short phrases as a response. its not that he wasnt trying to engage, he was just so...awkward
EXPECIALLY SINCE YOU'RE A GIRL???
after that day, you came up to him. every. single. day. you spoke to him, and after a few conversations, he started to look forward to speaking to you
and one day he was like, "wait...do i...?"
he realized he loved you, and now he made an effort to try to be around you
he would always be hovering near you, whether it be beside of behind you
asks if he could accompany you on missions
he also tries to be near you during meetings
shinobu definitely caught on to this and teases him relentlessly about it
"ohh," shinobu grinned. "should i tell the (breathing style) pillar how you feel about her?"
"...shut up."
in all honesty, shinobu would try to make him confess his feelings to you, and after enough of her pushing him, he eventually gathered his courage and told you he loved you
a small, but sunny sweet smile spreaded on his face when you told him you loved him too
🦋 Shinobu Kocho
Tumblr media
definitely feels anxious about the fact that you're a girl. what if you were to get together and people would judge you? she didn't care if people judged her, she just didn't want any hate to be directed at you
however she does love to be around you though
she's always looking out for you, making sure you're okay and well fed and stuff
frequently invites you to the butterfly estate
i headcanon that she loves it when you call her pretty─ it just gets her so giddy and giggly
you'd be a major source of comfort for her
she's able to put down her smiling act around you and lets herself just chill out for as long as you're around
for sure always flirting with you
wears a shit-eating grin when she manages to make you flustered
shes a bit ─ not really? ─ surprised when you tell her that you have feelings for her
she's ecstatic nonetheless
🔥 Kyojuro Rengoku
Tumblr media
he's just...rengoku
but 10x louder
whenever he speaks its usually like he's using exclamation marks but when he's around you, bro is speaking in all caps
"GOOD MORNING, (NAME). DID YOU SLEEP WELL LAST NIGHT?"
it definitely makes you jump the first couple of times but overtime you got used to it, sometimes not flinching everytime he suddenly YELLED at you
he cant help it! being around you just wants him to jump from giddiness!
i dont think he's ever felt this way about anyone before?? you're his first love!
i headcanon that he gave you his haori to wear once when it was cold and you looked so stunning in it that he just offered it to you on a day to day basis honestly
loves to talk about you
"DID YOU SEE (NAME) TODAY? SHE LOOKS SO PRETTY!"
"yes, kyojuro. you've mentioned her 7 times now."
to everyone outside of your friendship, his admiration is obvious
this man is head over heels for you girl
everyone gets frustrated when you say you don't know what they're talking about
"what do you mean?" you giggle. "thats just kyojuro, its nothing special."
ma'am...you better claim your man or imma take him for myself

hi! i hope this is not too repetitive but i really liked the concept of some of the hashiras with an s/o who acts like Nagito, so can i request the same thing but with obanai, shinobu and gyomei?
Don’t worry it isn’t to repetitive. Also thanks for reading my stories and I’m glad that you enjoyed them.
Tumblr media
Obanai Iguro 🐍
When you and Iguro paired for the first time he was annoyed and he made it obvious to which you smile.
“I don’t blame you with being annoyed by me. I’m human trash, I’m more worthless than the ground you walk on.”
That caught him off guard, he never heard somebody bash themselves with a smile on your face.
Though he was quite impressed, when you fought demons. Quickly doing it and dodging perfectly. Yet you called yourself trash and worthless.
After you both finish you just spoiled him with compliments on how amazing he was
He actually blushed and got embarrassed. He’s not used to hearing a lot of praise. One compliment that’s surprised him.
“Your amazing really! And that passion in your eyes, they were as passionate as they were beautiful!”
Suddenly he wasn’t as annoyed with your company as he was before. He slightly enjoyed it now.
Even Kaburamaru started to like you.
With the incoming weeks. He would see you and would have little conversation with you. You guys became really good friends.
You had a big ideal on hope and when anybody mentioned it, you would go on a rant about it. Which sometimes annoyed him.
You also said praises to other and said insults to yourself like it’s second nature.
Besides the self degrading talk and Hope talk. You were a very caring and honest person. You cared for all your fellow hashira especially Obanai dearly. If you notice that one of them is in a bad mood or slightly sad, you offer to get them some food or a drink. You also give compliments to them and constantly try to raise their confidence.
One time you and Obanai got into a pretty nasty battle. You were seriously injured he was also injured but not as bad as you. He was able to carry you to the butterfly estate. When you woke up you saw Obanai next to you on a bed. You thought it was your luck.
So you started apologizing over and over. Saying those self degrading comments and saying how it was your fault.
“I don’t know why you hang around me. All I do is cause problems.”
🐍“It’s because I love you.”
“What?!”
Obanai didn’t realize he said that out loud. He then got in embarrassed and admitted that he had fallen for you. You of course return those feelings.
He lets you sit on the branch with him on the tree he hangs out in during hashira meetings.
Kaburamaru loves to sleep in your hair if you have long hair or wrap around your neck and take a nap.
Obanai stays with you even when you tell him that your bad luck may be kicking in soon.
He tends to defend you if somebody says an insult to you.
When he pulled down his bandages for the first time. Compliments just spewed out your mouth. And after 100% making sure it’s ok, you kiss the scars and tell him how beautiful they are to you.
He tries to encourage you and asks you not to say such degrading things to yourself.
Tumblr media
Shinobu Kocho 🦋
Shinobu first meet you on a paired mission. You recently became a new pillar so she was quite interested to see you in action.
🦋“Are you y/n l/n by any chance?”
“Yes that is me! Are you shinobu kocho?”
🦋“Yes that’s me.”
“Wow! It’s such an honor to meet you, I’ve been dying to meet you!”
🦋“Really? Well I’m very excited to work with you too.”
“I’m kinda surprised your willing to work with human trash like myself.”
🦋“What?”
Shinobu was definitely caught off guard by that he wasn’t expecting you to put yourself down like that.
🦋“Don’t be silly. Your not human trash, your a hashira after all.”
“I know but I don’t deserve it. I no where near worthy…oh look the suns going down we better get ready.”
At night demons started appearing. Shinobu saw your skill and technique, she thought you were amazing.
After you two finished you offered to buy her some food. That night she got to learn about you.
She learned that you often say very degrading things to yourself and have big ideals on hope. But you also are a caring and nice person. Your also smarter than you seem.
You guys became really good friends. You often visit the butterfly estate and help shinobu with the medicine and poison she makes. You also make her some food or often tell her compliments. You always had a smile on your face. You reminded her of her sister.
She fell for you after a while. And she confessed to you completely by accident. One night as you were sitting on top of the roofs, just talking about random things.
“The moon quite lovely tonight.”
🦋“Just like you.”
“What?”
🦋“What?”
After that she confessed that she really liked you and you accepted her confession and you two got together.
You still are kinda the same except you give her even more compliments and praises. You also give her kisses and hugs, after asking if it’s okay first.
Shinobu tries to lift your self worth up and not tries to convince you your not worthless.
For a gift she gave you a butterfly clip similar to hers to put in your hair. Just a little something to keep with you.
One time you were interested in using poison on demons and she told you how you could use it.
You try and stay away from shinobu when you feel like your bad luck might kick in soon. But she is determined to stick by your side even if your bad luck will appear.
Tumblr media
Gyomei Himejima 🪨
You meet the stone pillar by accident. You were jumping from tree branch to tree branch (like in naruto) trying to get to headquarters and give your report. But your bad luck kicked in and you accidentally tripped on a branch.
You started falling you braces yourself for impact. But rather than fall on the harsh ground. You were caught in a pair of strong arms.
🪨“Are you ok?”
You open your eyes to see your in the arms of the stone pillar! You immediately jump out of his arms and start apologizing.
“I’m so sorry! I’m just the worst! I’m sorry trash like me is wasting your time!”
Then you ran off before he could say anything.
Later that day you were walking around enjoying some scenery, you weren’t really paying attention and accidentally ran into someone.
“Oh my apologies!”
🪨”I recognize that voice…”
You accidentally ran into the stone pillar.
“Oh my…what terrible luck.”
🪨”why is that supposed to mean?”
“I meant for you, you have the worst luck running into scum like me.”
🪨”why do you say that.”
“Cause that’s what I am. Sorry master himejima. I should probably go before I waste more of your time.”
🪨”your not wasting my time. I was actually looking for somewhere to eat. Would you kind accompany me?”
“Are you sure? I mean I bet you can find somebody else.”
🪨”no I think you would make fine company.”
“We’ll if you insist.”
That’s how your little friendship started. Even though he found it heartbreaking how little you thought of yourself. He enjoyed listening to your ideals on hope, mostly because of how passionate you sounded about it. You also showed great kindness, you walked home with him after you finished eating.
You guys started being friends he loved how happy you always sounded. The way you say his name. You always sounded so happy. He wishes he could see your smile.
You both sometimes went on mission together. Even though he was blind he was an amazing demon slayer. The first time you saw him in action you were amazed.
You couldn’t stop complimenting and praising him. He was very flattered to hear all the compliments.
One thing you two loved to do was sit in a garden while he plays the flute, and you taking care of some flowers. You and him treasured those moments greatly.
You both started to like each other greatly. You didn’t tell him because, you believed he could do much better than you. He just didn’t know how to tell. He eventually came to the realization, that life is short. So he should make the most of it.
One day while you were sitting in a garden waiting for him. Eventually he arrived and you put a flower crown upon his head.
🪨”y/n I need to tell you something important.”
“Oh ok what is it?”
🪨”I love you.”
“You…love me…”
🪨“Yes with all my heart. Do you accept my feelings?”
“Yes I do. I love you too!”
Now onto what a relationship with him is like
Every morning he prays for your health and happiness.
He also tries to make convince you, that your much better than the terrible things you say about yourself or call yourself. You try to stop cause it causes him to cry. Then you feel terrible.
You two still go to a garden and listen to gyomei play his flute. To you it’s sounds heavenly.
You also guide him around when he is in a unfamiliar place. Which he greatly appreciates.
He also gives the biggest hugs, gives probably the greatest love and affection. He is a gentle giant after all.
He also prays for just good luck and no bad luck. He knows about your luck and hates when you try to stay away from him cause you have a feeling you bad luck might appear. He understands that your just trying to keep him safe, which he loves but he doesn’t want you to carry such a burden alone.

As far as everyone knew, women were not to become scholars. Women were to be wedded off at a maritable age and bring honor to their families by having a wealthy and powerful husband. Even if society told you that you couldn’t, you didn’t see why. You were more intelligent than any of the men that you were around, even your brothers who had a more extensive education than you. You had higher test scores and had the ability to solve the issues they were unable to. You were perfectly qualified to be the scholar that you felt you were destined to be. Thus, you were going to do it. Nothing was stopping you apart from your father, who would bring you back if you did it yourself, no matter what. He was pretty much the only person who had such power over you, but there wasn’t much to worry about. After all, he had given you anything you wanted for your entire life; even an education- which the people praised him for giving you such a thing when you asked. He was known for the love he had for his daughter- and it would make perfect sense that he would give that to you as well.
Thus, as per usual when you demanded something, you walked yourself over to his office at his end of the estate, and knocked on the door. He answered right away, and he allowed you to come in. The guards opened the heavy wooden doors for you. Nobody wanted that post, for you would come all too often and they’d have to use too much of their strength for such a menial task as opening the door. You walked up to your father, and with that face, he knew you wanted something. He knew you, and that was a surprise to nobody.
“What would you like, my dearest daughter?” he asked, looking up at you from his desk, filled with ink, brushes, and countless scrolls, with others stacked behind him on the shelves.
“Father, I’d like to go to the academy to become a scholar,” you put on that “pretty please?” smile that usually got you what you wanted.
“... would you like to marry a scholar?” he asked. He must’ve thought you wanted to actually just go there to meet a man. “I can arrange for some nice men to meet you; you don’t need to go anywhere.”
“No! I’d like to become a scholar.” you asserted, once again. You thought you had made that perfectly clear in your previous statement, but apparently not. It was true that it was unheard of for a woman to become a scholar in all of history, but it couldn’t be that unbelievable for an accomplished woman such as you.
Your father looked at you once again, in utter disbelief. You understood that this clearly meant “no”, but you had no clue why.
“... I’m sorry my daughter, please leave for now. I have quite a lot of work to complete. I will see you at dinner later,” he looked back down to resume his work, and you were escorted out of the door. You ran all the way to your own quarters, grabbing a scroll along with ink and a brush. You were going to write him an essay explaining why you were qualified and that there were absolutely no issues with you becoming a scholar. You could bring great achievements to the family as well; perhaps your father was truly stupid- not that anyone else would agree with that statement, as someone who the emperor would occasionally ask advice from.
You spent the entire day writing this essay, and as the last drops of ink dried on the paper, you had this letter sent to your father before dinnertime. You hoped he’d read it before dinner and give you an answer during, but to your surprise, he was busy enough that he ignored your essay until dinnertime. He read it when he finished his meal and sighed. You were being stubborn, sure, but he also made a decision that made absolutely no sense. Thus, that was going to be changed.
“Listen, you’re a woman. You can’t be a scholar; women do not become scholars,” he sighed.
“Older sister! You wish to become a scholar? Why would you?” your younger brother asked, scared out of his mind by your request. Your mother simply sighed. Was it really so surprising? Even with your great wisdom?
“Yes, I wish to become a scholar, Yunru,” you replied to your brother. “It is a prestigious position, and it is something that I do enjoy.”
“Father, I do not understand why women cannot be scholars. I am smarter than even my brother, and many have called my wisdom almost comparable to yours, which is revered all across the empire. If I were a man, you would be eager to send me to the school. Yet, you reject me because I was born a woman,” you pleaded.
“As I’ve said, women do not become scholars. I cannot send you to such a place-” he tried to reason with you.
“Why? Is it illegal? I have not heard of such a law, and I am versed with the laws of the country,” you reasoned in return. Your father sighed, and he still refused your request. Thus, you stormed out of the dinner hall, and you locked yourself up in your room. You hung a scroll outside the door, which read, “I will not leave this chamber until Father grants me permission to study to become a scholar.” You were going to stay there, and if anything happened to you, it would be absolutely their fault. You were winning either way- revenge or simply getting your wish.
You stayed in your room more days than ever. You let no maids in your room, and you passed the time by writing stories and studying. You didn’t let them bring food to you either, for a more impactful effect. While you did get hungry, you had hidden a few snacks in your closet, so those were enough to keep you alive for a few days without a real meal. Of course, you loved the meals the chef cooked, and you’d ask him to make your favorite when you came out. But first, you would stay until father issued an apology and let you go to the academy to study.
In due time, as you expected, an apology scroll was delivered, and you were allowed to study in the academy. It detailed the steps you’d have to take to become a scholar, and while somewhat annoying, they were nothing compared to the excitement that you would feel when you finally become a scholar. You did have to bring a maid with you, and you selected Liling, a maid you could more easily dress as a man. You both had to dress and act like men, which you would gladly do for your dream.
It wasn’t long before the preparations were finished, and you were on your way to the academy. You quickly packed your bags, bringing only a few items- you actually didn’t want to be reminded of home too much. You said goodbye to your family, saying “Yes, from today on, I’ll be happy.” It may have implied that you were unhappy before, which was somewhat true. But in the future, you were going to be happy, and there was nothing to worry about. It was the most exciting day of your life, and you talked to Liling the entire way through. She was so tired of you talking that she fell asleep, but you couldn’t blame her. She was a pleasant one to talk to, and you liked her quite a lot.
“Oh, Liling, we need new names. We have to use manly names now. I’m going to use… Y/N. What about you?” you asked when she was awake. You turned your head from the window to her.
“I’m not quite sure my lady; I’m so good with male names. Maybe you could pick one out for me?” she responded.
“Hm… how about Liwei? It means profit and greatness- you like money, right?” you suggested, laughing just a little.
“You know me too well, my lady… ah- I should call you the young master from now, yes?”
“Yes, of course. I am a man now, the heir to my father’s estate, yes, yes.” “Haha, yes, absolutely, young master.”
When the two of you arrived at the academy, you were greeted by a staff member and were given a tour, which ended at the dorms. It was bigger than expected, and the library was absolutely impressive, even compared to your own library at home, which was quite nice in all aspects as well. Your father had booked the two of you a room of your own; all rooms were shared, so the best he could do was give you and Liling- now Liwei- a private space. After getting settled in, you decided to explore, which Liwei gladly did with you. It was really nice, for once, to walk without the watching eyes of the guards and maids at home. It felt free; it was wonderful.
“Young master, why don’t you try to make some friends instead of simply looking around? I think it would be nice to have a lot of people to talk to,” Liwei suggested, and you took it. Thus, you went around, greeting everyone and striking up conversations. You wouldn’t be able to do this as a woman; you would be called all sorts of names if you did. But your brother did this and was loved by all, and it was refreshing to enjoy something he had been able to enjoy all his life. You greeted all kinds of people: people from the north, people from the south, people from different wealthy families, people who wanted to be there, people who wanted to go home, and people of different ways of speaking. It was a really great insight to see people from all kinds of places in one place; for not a moment did you regret your decision.
You had to eat dinner before the sun had finished setting, and you and Liwei headed to the cafeteria to get something to eat. On your way there, two boys with strange orange hair and green eyes caught your attention, but you had to eat dinner before the cafeteria closed. It would close soon, so you had to eat quickly.
It wasn’t long until you got your classes sorted out, and you were scheduled to attend your classes sooner than you thought. Time passed more quickly to you, or maybe it was because you were having more fun; you were more free. The classes were different from the private tutoring you received at home, and it was actually pretty nice for a chance, even when there were a lot of people listening to the instructor. One of the classes you had on your first day was Confucian Principles, where you met one of the orange haired boys again. He was pretty cute, and his style was unique too; you’d never seen someone who looked like him around campus, besides the other one who looked like him. They were probably brothers.
You usually sat next to Liwei, but she had sprained her ankle while the two of you were having a race around the campus, so she was resting in the dorm room while you were in class. You planned to take notes and share them with her later. So, you decided to sit next to this guy; he seemed really nice, so you figured that it would be nice to take the seat next to him .
“Hello! I’m Y/N, do you mind if I sit next to you?” you asked, your hand on the chair next to his. He responded with a “mhm” and a smile, and you took the seat for yourself. He wasn’t uptight like a lot of people; he seemed human, free. He seemed like someone who wanted to live for himself, and that was something you admired about him right away.
“I’m Aoi Yuta; it’s nice to meet you!” he greeted you back. “And over there’s Hinata.”
“Hinata..? Who..?- ah, is that your brother?”
“Yes!”
“Class is starting now. Stop talking,” the teacher started class and everyone stopped talking. While he was talking, you still were able to take notes, but your mind was somewhere else; it was on the boy next to you. He was unique, and that was what was on your mind. Somehow, he was a breath of fresh air, one that was made of comfort and freedom. You didn’t know how, but he was a comforting presence. You wanted to talk to him, but the teacher was still talking. It was a new feeling, since you always had taken your lessons alone. The teacher was too focused on his lesson to find out if you weren’t paying attention, but he could hear any talking that happened in the room. But what if you weren’t talking, but writing? It would be like really short letters that were received instantly, since he was right next to you. You decided to try it.
Hey, are you listening to the teacher? - Y/N You wrote that on your paper, and shoved it close to where he would see it. He instantly got the message and wrote under it.
Yeah, but what about you? Are YOU listening? - Yuta You smiled as you got that message, and you quickly replied back.
Well, yes, but I already learned it, hehehe. Where are the two of you from? I’ve never seen any people like you before -Y/N
The two of you continued to pass notes to each other all throughout class, but it was okay. You could fill in the rest of the notes later. What was important was that you made a friend, a friend that you felt happy to be around. In women’s circles, you were to be friendly to everyone you didn’t want to make an enemy of, and you had to be careful of what words you said. Each and every meeting was a battlefield, against families who wanted to use their own personal gain. But with Yuta, it was genuine; it seemed like he wanted to be friends with you, that he liked you for who you were instead of your family name and honor. Perhaps it’s because you had a different identity now, but it was truly nice- and freeing.
As class ended, the students packed up to move to their next class, and you didn’t share any class times with him. “Oh, hey, would you like to join me for lunch later?” you asked, hoping to talk to him more.
“Yeah, sure! Do you mind if I bring my little brother along?” he responded, as he hurriedly rolled up his scroll.
“Why not? The more the merrier.”
“Great! See ya then!”
You waved back at him, and the two of you parted ways to go to your next classes.
Time flew by, and you headed to the cafeteria. As you walked, you smiled; you’d be able to see Yuta again!
“Boo!” someone yelled as they tapped your shoulder, causing you to flinch. It sounded like Yuta, but he wouldn’t be this energetic at this time of day, you’d thought. You look behind your back to see who it was, and it turns out it was the brothers arriving together. As you entered the cafeteria, you looked around for the food you wanted to eat. You ordered what you wanted to eat, and it turned out that the two of you ordered the same dish. You and Yuta laughed together, and when you went to get a table. You sat across with your food, with a plate for Liwei sitting next to you. You’d bring it to her after you ate before going to your afternoon classes.
All throughout lunch, you talked with the twins, about various topics. It wasn’t even school related, like you had done with the other people when you had tried to socialize with everyone the day you had arrived at the academy. They flowed naturally; it was easy to keep in conversation with them. Though, when the topic of your family and home life came up, all three of you were vague about it. Many openly boasted about their family’s achievements, but not any of you. You wondered what happened in the Aoi family, but you didn’t want to pry, especially since you had no need of telling who you really were. It was known that your father had just a daughter and a son, and you weren’t going as your brother.
The table was loud, and you were glad that none of you got scolded for it. It was probably one of the most fun conversations you’d ever had; you hadn’t laughed like that. There was never a time you hadn’t purposely laughed; all of them were an intentional action decided before it was done. Perhaps this real laugh was why everyone is told to imitate them.
During class, the two of you talked a lot- on paper, of course. The two of you had never gotten caught, and you didn’t intend to. In fact, you didn’t know if it was punishable, because there was no rule regarding that. You could use that to your advantage… especially since it wasn’t bothering anymore (It was mutual between the two of you, so none of you would be counted as being bothered). In any case, class became more of a hangout for the two of you than a class, and since you could simply study it on your own later, nobody really found out- except maybe the people sitting behind you. Maybe they saw; you didn’t know. They didn’t say anything.
You also often met at the library; your father had rented a private study room there, and you enjoyed it to the fullest, with Liwei, Yuta, and Hinata. Your father had rented it for you because you said you enjoyed studying alone, and he wanted to give you a big space to do that in. The dorm room was fine, since it was just Liwei, but you wouldn’t refuse this nice space. After all, it was right near all the scrolls you needed, and it was normally quiet. You couldn’t be as loud as you could be, of course, but the walls were thick enough that you could have a conversation without someone overhearing from the next room over. That was really nice; you never realized how nice privacy was before this. Sometimes, you would study, and other times you’d just hang out. You and Yuta would sit by the desk and doodle on paper while talking or just staring out the window while you talked; they were really quite calming.
“Liling, are… you failing?” you asked as she studied.
“Yes, young master. I’m not as smart as you, as I’m just a maid…” she sighed. She still needed to pass to stay though, and you weren’t going to let her go. Okay! New mission: raise Liwei’s grades.
“Alright! From now on, I’m going to teach you everything,” you put your hands to your hips.
“You don’t need to do that… just teach me the things I don’t understand.”
“That sounds better, actually. You know what, what if all three of us held study sessions and you tagged along during the break?” “Three of us?” “Me, Yuta, and Hinata.”
“Oh, the Aoi twins.” “Yeah. They’re pretty smart.” “That sounds great… but why am I just tagging along?”
“Wait- hold on. We three are going to become teachers. Yes, we’re going to teach you what you don’t know. And if there’s nothing for us to teach, we’ll just study for ourselves!”
“Are you sure?” “Yeah! We’ll go ask them tomorrow at lunch.”
“That sounds amazing! Thank you so much.” “Hehe, I’m not letting my best maid go just yet.’ “Ahaha, thank you, young master.”
The two of you met up with the twins at lunch again, as per usual, and you greeted Yuta with your shared hand clap. It was something the two of you would do, and it was fun. It was a greeting the two of you shared, and you loved it. Other students questioned it and found no use for it, but it was just for fun. There didn’t need to be any other reason to do anything as harmless as that. Some people said it was annoying, but they were maybe just jealous that they didn’t have anything like that for them and their best friends.
“Hey, Yuta, Hinata, I was thinking we could have a training camp during the break,” you suggested.
“Really? Sure, why not?” Yuta agreed. You were glad he didn’t pry; you knew Liwei didn’t want her grades to be known to everyone else in such a place.
“Yeah! Let’s do it; it sounds like a great idea!” Hinata was in on the idea. You all cheered to the group study sessions over break, and everyone was going to get smarter. Though, you were more excited to be spending more time with Yuta.
You made great use of the library room during this time; as everyone was on break, they took the time to go to town, sightsee, or simply rest- actually, the people who lived more nearby visited their family. Though, a lot of people came from places far across the empire, so many stayed during the break. You stayed there pretty much all day, either joking around or diligently studying, and Liwei would flick your heads whenever you fooled around too much. Somehow, you and Yuta talked to each other a lot, whether you were studying or not, leaving Liwei and Hinata to themselves. Whenever you remembered about them, you felt bad for ignoring them, but they had quickly learned to simply leave you alone when only Yuta was on your mind. Perhaps the same was for Yuta; they reacted the same to him as well.
One thing you did was that if everyone didn’t get something, you’d all think about how the previous scholars did it and everyone went to find the answer. Whether it was from the materials, you figured it out, or found someone who was willing to explain it to you, if you found it for the group first, you didn’t have to pay for lunch or dinner, either meal that day. It was a fun game, and one time you and Yuta had found it together, so both of you had gotten free dinner that day.
“Young master…”
“Yes, Liwei?” “I… something’s been weighing on my mind, and I haven’t been able to focus lately. I thin- I think I’m going to skip classes today, just to get myself sorted out. I’m sorry I’m not able to serve-” “Stop right there, we’re both skipping.” “Huh? No, you want to go to class, right?”
“Yes, but you’re more important to me. Who else has been by my side for this long? If I don’t take good care of you, I’m a failure of a master. Plus, I can call in sick too. I’m good at pretending; Yuta’s a good teacher at that. I’ve been learning all kinds of odd skills from him; it’s surprisingly fun to learn something useless. Anyways, in any case, we’re going to sort this out together, okay? Don’t worry about me; I can learn the material on my own anyways.”
“Thank you…” Liling cried on your shoulder, and you hugged her. All you could do was to hold her now and call in sick, which you did.
It took a while for her to calm down; you didn’t know what kind of news she received to have such a reaction. “Okay… I think I’m ready to talk about it.”
“I’m all ears, Liling.”
“I… think I like Hinata- but wait- I know that I can’t be with him. I’m here thanks to you, and I should be grateful that I got to be here. I’m just a maid, and he’s the son of a nobleman…”
Around lunch time, someone came to deliver food, and you pretended to be sick again just to keep up appearances. After classes ended, Yuta and Hinata dropped by, to check if the two of you were alright- no one had seen you all day, so they were worried about the two of you.
“Helloooo, anyone home?” they knocked on the door. You could tell it was them right away; you didn’t even bother looking sick to them. You opened the door, and you were greeted by a hug from Yuta. It was warm, and you melted in it. It had been a stressful day, and you didn’t want to let go.
“Y/N? Are you okay?” he asked, not having let go yet.
“Mhm… I’m fine, just uh, tired I guess? It’s been… a long day, for me and Liwei.” you separated from the hug.
You looked at Liling and Hinata, and you decided that it would be best if they talked it out. You took Yuta’s hand and bolted out of there, until you weren’t in sight. You found yourself outside of the school, entering the forest that was nearby. The school was at the edge of town and the forest was an easy place for the sounds of nature to be heard; many of the scholars liked having gardens and nature around. It was private too; not many actually went deep into the forest at all. Before long, you stopped to catch your breath, and it was a while until you had realized that you were still holding Yuta’s hand. You quickly took it back and looked away, trying to think of a response as to why you did that.
“Uhm-” Yuta pulled you into a hug, and you hugged him back. He knew exactly what you needed. You stood there, enveloped in his warmth. His presence was comforting, and the two of you stood in silence- a comfortable silence. You could feel each others’ breaths, but it didn’t feel weird. In fact, it was a sign that the both of you were at least somewhat okay.
“... Y/N, do you want to tell me what happened?”
“Mhm,” you nodded your head, but you still didn’t let go. You told him what Liling had told you- and who Liling really was, though you didn't really tell about yourself- you knew he probably had a really good guess of who you were. Though, you weren’t ready to talk about that. The time would come… eventually. You did feel bad for telling him without Liling, but she wouldn’t mind; after all, it was the Aoi twins. Would they tell? Of course not. And plus, she probably told Hinata all about it already.
“... I… think we should let go…” you said, pulling away from the hug you had been standing in for who knows how long. He pulled back as well, and the two of you started to head back. After a short while, the awkwardness subsided, and the two of you began to talk and joke around as normal. It wasn’t long before the conversation the two of you just had was behind you, and you enjoyed each other’s company once more.
“You know, I’m so glad I met you, Yuta.”
“Really? Ahaha, I’m so glad I met you too, Y/N!”
“Mhm, thanks to you, I’ll keep moving forward, I’m not alone.”
It wasn’t long before the two of you returned to the dorm, to find that Liling and Hinata had already parted ways. You waved off to him, saying, “Good night! I love you!” and he responded with that adorable laugh of his. He set off to find his brother, and you kept Liling company. You wanted to ask what had happened, but you decided not to. She seemed to have found some kind of closure, and if you were to ask, you might have just opened it up again. So, unless she was going to tell you, you didn’t ask.
“Young master, there’s a letter from home,” Liling handed you a letter that had arrived for you. You weren’t expecting anything from them; it wasn’t time for their monthly check-in letters yet. As you opened it, you knew you were going to be disappointed. You sighed, and you opened the letter. It described that you were to return home, and you were to be wedded with the son of a rich family of the city closest to yoru village. You couldn’t believe this. After all this, living the life you wished to live, your dreams were taken away from you. Last time, you were able to- though childishly- with that tantrum. This time, faking your own death might be necessary. However, it would be quite a pain to do such a big task… and it would put shame on your own name as well. You hug Liling, knowing that she’ll be brought home as well. You had lived your best life in the academy, even though it was short. You were given fresh air, rather than the stale stench of strict society.
Perhaps you had your fill of life; now it was time to do your inevitable duty. It was something you had always hated; in fact, you were hoping it wasn’t going to happen, that your father loved you enough to not do this to you. But you were mistaken. Heartbreak after heartbreak; such was life, you supposed. You began to pack your bags, leaving no one notice. You couldn’t face Yuta with such news. You inquired about what Liling was going to do, and they were going to do the same. A carriage arrived for you the next day, and during class, you quietly got ready to go aboard to go home.
“Y/N! Wait! Where are you going?” his voice broke near the end of the sentence, and you almost burst into tears. Perhaps it was better that you became the villain instead, that he could move on from you and that he’d live a happier life without you.
“Yuta, the next time you see me, don’t trust me. I lied to you. Who I am isn’t who I showed; I will be returning now,” you said. You mouthed where you were going to him, perhaps as a way of begging for help. You didn’t want to do this, and perhaps, he could tell. Maybe he’d save you- but he probably couldn’t. What you said earlier wasn’t a lie, technically. You did lie to him; you lied to everyone in that school. You were returning to your old image. The you that existed during the time you spent in the academy was a different person, and it was going to stay there. There was nowhere you could show that anymore, so it minus well be dead. You got in the carriage with Liling, who was already crying. You consoled her as it started moving.
“Young ma- my lady, are you sure you aren’t going to rebel like last time?” Liling asked.
“... I don’t think I can escape this one, Liling. Though, I think I might’ve hurt his feelings by leaving so suddenly- but if I’d stayed longer, who knows what I would’ve done…” “I think you are.”
You froze. “Is it true? Am I only hurting him with this?” “Yes, my lady. Yes.”
The tears couldn’t stop.
“Hinata, I’ll be gone over break, and I’ll be missing for a few days after. Sorry… please cover for me.” Yuta rushed out, leaving a note on his brother’s desk. Yuta ran to town to find a carriage, and he finally found one going the way he intended to go after hours of searching. It was raining, and he was soaked, but he didn’t care. He was going to find you as soon as he could. The ride there was long and bumpy, but it was nothing compared to what was going on in his mind. It had only been a few days, yet he felt so empty. He missed your smile, your voice, the way you never wanted to let go of his hugs. There were things left unsaid, but was it better if they weren’t? It was a wonder, how you got him to do things he would have never imagined doing before. Skipping classes? Leaving Hinata like this? Leaving and maybe not being able to come back?
When he arrived, he immediately asked for you, but he was very quickly turned away by the guards. No outside men were to come in contact with you until the wedding. He then asks to see Liling, who was brought to see him. “Hi.” “Oh, Yuta. What can I do for you?” Liling spoke in the monotone voice she always used to greet guests, void of life. She was like a completely different person; he saw nothing of the girl who had cared for you during the time you were in the academy.
“What’s happening? Where can I see Y/N?” Yuta needed to see you. There was this feeling, the feeling that if he didn’t meet you now, he’d lose you forever.
“Yuta… there’s no escaping this one. She’s smart, but she can’t find a way to escape the situation. She would’ve wanted to escape from this too, but she can’t.” “What can I-” “The best you can do is propose to her and hope that the arrangements for the previous marriage hadn’t been settled yet. I’m not able to provide any other information. Good luck, Yuta.”
She escorted him to the guest room, where he waited until your father came to receive him. You were popular and had many marriage requests from many neighboring cities, but he had never come across one who had come himself. That was something that he admired; it was something he did for his wife. When he had to make a decision, though, it was always house over family. House over family. He would use what he gained from his esteemed achievements for his family, but he would never do something for his family that put the family name at risk. It was the only thing he could do for his ancestors.
Yuta was soon kicked out after being rejected and told to never return. “It’s all your fault. It’s all your fault. It’s all your fault.” he mumbled to himself as he walked back out to go somewhere, go anywhere. He didn’t have much purpose left. Hinata would probably be fine without him. He broke into tears. It wasn’t long before he felt numb, empty. He found a place to rest, somewhere at least somewhat comfortable. He wanted to laugh, laugh a pity for himself. He couldn’t do anything, anything for the one he loved. All he could do is laugh at himself for his own incompetence. Yet he couldn’t even laugh. He had forgotten to.
“Maybe I could just sleep it off. Yes, I just need to go to sleep. I just need to go to sleep again. That’s it. I’ll wake up tomorrow feeling better.” Then and there, he fell asleep and never woke up.
“My lady, wake up. It’s the day of your wedding; we need to get you ready for it,” Liling woke you up. You groaned, not wanting to be separated from the covers. You were dreaming, dreaming of Yuta. Ever since you had left, you had dreamt of him every day. You dreamed of a life with you and him together, but you knew you couldn't do that. Inevitably, it fueled your urge to resist, though your mind told you that it was impossible- and it was right. There was no point in doing something that only brought negative effects in the hope of an imaginary positive outcome.
During the day, you were dolled up; maids from your mother’s chambers prepared you by putting on your makeup, dressing you in your dress, and placing bedazzling gold and jewels. Your wedding dress was bright red, a symbol of love and luck. That’s what it was meant to symbolize, but nothing about this day had any love or luck. It was planned, hard and cold.
When you had finished, you were placed in a carriage to be sent to your future husband’s town, where you were to spend your entire life. It was raining, pouring, too much for your carriage to continue. It may have been a bad omen, but no one spoke about it on this day. You got out of the carriage, and Liling held an umbrella above both of your heads. You were curious to see who was in the tomb which laid on the side of the road, and as you approached it, a dreadful feeling emerged. A name was engraved on it: Aoi Yuta. You ran from under the umbrella, off the stone pathway and into the muddy grass field. You were soaked, but it never once crossed your mind. You went inside, to find a coffin, presumably Yuta’s. It was painted pitch black, and by the looks of it, it was painted very recently. Guilt hit upon you. What would’ve happened if you had simply resisted your father? It wasn’t worth it anymore, living like this. What was to care about, if you couldn’t breathe the air of freedom you so longed for? Was it worth it to live without it?
You approached the coffin, your footsteps ever so audible. As your hand neared the paint, it opened just so slightly, and you used your hand to open it further. Yet, it was empty.
When Liling arrived at the tomb, she went inside to look for you, only to see two orange butterflies exit into the newfound sunlight.
