do you have any tips for making your art as warm and glowy and colorful as it is?? i Love it so much

might seem like an overly-obvious answer but warm colors, man. I use a lot of yellow and orange (honestly I just like the color yellow a lot lol) whether it’s an undertone, the majority of the picture’s colors, or contrasting against the cooler colors. The sock drawer drawing is one of the “mostly orange and yellow” ones, the undertones are mostly yellow and a significant portion of the background is orange and yellow. The Apartment on the 10th Floor painting is one where it’s mostly cool colors but the highlights on the floor, bed, and window are warm yellows. Warm colors are more “active” than cool ones, so even though most of the painting is blue the parts that are yellow stand out a lot more against the blue, making the painting warm despite being mostly cool colors. Also the strokes and blending definitely play a part in making things look glowy, I rly like using the sort of scribbely circular stroke and using that for most or all of a drawing often makes it feel a lot fuzzier.

for the colorful thing, you don’t really need a lot of colors to make a colorful drawing, weird as that sounds. you just kinda have to exaggerate colors. The sock drawer drawing is very exaggerated, my walls are a much duller turquoise and definitely not that bright blue, my floor is just a normal hardwood floor that's a bit warm in color so i exaggerated the warmth of it to a bright yellow-orange color, my dog is grey so I just combined a bunch of darker but bright colors to sort of imply that. You don’t really have to use the actual color of things to convey that they are that color if that makes sense

this is perhaps an odd question but if nighthawks were ever adapted for film/tv (with Your specific creative direction rather than Someone Else) would you want it to be a show or a movie? would it be live action or animated?

what a question...................... i would have 2 say tv show? if only bc their whole dynamic is built upon like... slow-burn, right. it spans almost thirty years. so i feel like an episodic format would help w that in terms of pacing, and in terms of Laying the Groundwork. and god ive always sort of pictured it live action (bc so much of sintin is echoed in better call saul so i just imagined. better call saul) but... if it was animated.... then like chromosphere’s commercial for lyft....

in my dream world nighthawks IS a novel with illustrated panels on every other page and it gets a radio re-enactment directed by vince gilligan and peter gould.
