one of the things that my friend and I realized while watching ep14 of the pitt together was that santos just doesn't know how to interact with men without it being a power struggle.

it often comes across as a problem with authority, but if you pay careful attention, it's actually MALE authority that unnerves her and puts her in an immediately on-guard, defensive place: robbie and langdon just cannot and will not get through to her.

meanwhile, it's dr. samira "are you aware you have an aggressive energy, trinity?" mohan, dr. "the patient doesn't give a shit" ellis, and of course, dr. yolanda garcia, who trained at the Flirting During Surgery school of medicine, who are actually able to get through to santos. women are the only ones who can meaningfully mentor her, bc she straight up only feels safe around them.

Bike riding- Changbin

You cannot be bothered to work out, even if your boyfriend is addicted to the gym. There is one thing however, that you’ll agree to. You like bike rides a lot, and Changbin always wants to work on his thigh muscles, so it works out. You two don’t typically talk much, just laugh and giggle, enjoying the wind and each other's company. Eventually you get tired and Changbin loves to pretend he’s your personal trainer. He likes to yell positive encouragement at you, and you love to groan and roll your eyes. It works. It may not seem like much but you beg to differ, it’s your favorite part of the week. Partially because of the bike ride, partially because he treats you like a baby when you two get home. He feeds you while praising you, “You did so well today baby”, and you pretend to be annoyed but he knows you love it.

Take out- Hyunjin

Every Friday you and Hyunjin order take out and eat in while sitting on the counter and gossip. This may be the most stupid specific thing, but it’s not to you. Hyunjin wasn’t ever one who liked school, but he loves to learn about you. You’re his favorite subject. He loves hearing your hot takes, even if it’s been said before by someone else. Why did it end up that you both always sit on the counter in your apartment? You don’t know, but that’s how it is. You two also like to order from a new place every time, and talk about it as if you were both food critics. Hyunjin loves analyzing you so much, the way your brain works interests him. You usually don’t realize until much later that you’re talking so much, and worry that Hyunjin’s annoyed. But in reality he’s just watching you lovingly, not annoyed at all.

Movie night- Han

Out of all the members, Han is the most movie night type of guy no doubt. Every Friday you and Han decide on a movie and watch it together. You two always huddle up with an astounding amount of snacks that neither of you ever finish. As much as you love it at home, Han loves the movie theater. He’s like a kid every time he goes, always in absolute awe. Which is the sole reason why whenever he offers to go to the theater, you never decline. How could you? He’s so adorable, eyes big and glowing from the reflection of the screen. Although you don’t see a lot of difference between seeing the movie at home vs the theater, Han has a whole list of why the movie theater experience is so much better. One of the things on his list he won’t tell you however, but Han likes to show you off. You’re not one for PDA, but movie nights always include make out sessions, you don’t make the rules. Han likes knowing that other guys who did anything so much perceived you could know that it’s him that takes you home every night, and even get a little glimpse of what it’s like.

Late night strolls- Felix

Felix is most definitely one to walk and talk. Every Friday you two go on a walk to watch the sunset and recap your week. Felix feels that as your boyfriend, he should have the right and privilege to know everything that has happened to you in the past week that he didn’t know. Mostly because he just loves hearing you talk, but also because he really likes to be involved with your life (as if he isn’t already). Then when you get home you both take a bath together, and do each other's nightly routine, because Felix is a sucker for cheesy couple activities (you are too but won’t admit it).

Coffee-Seungmin

Okay we all saw this coming, obviously Seungmin takes you for coffee every Saturday morning. And you swear your heart flutters every time he orders for you, you can’t help but feel special that the rarely affectionate Kim Seungmin remembers your complicated ass order. You tease him every time saying “you remembered” and he just scowls “duh don’t get too flattered, we come every weekend. I’d be stupid if I didn’t remember.” Sometimes but not every time, you go to the bookstore across the street from the coffee shop. It’s nice but you don’t typically care for books. What you do care for however, is when you and Seungmin curl up together by the window while he reads to you. You’re never paying attention though of course, and he nags at you for it. But how could you? He’s just too handsome not to look at. And you have to savor every sweet moment with him when he’s not nagging you or making fun of you.

Ice Cream- Jeongin

Jeongin never really cared for ice cream until he met you. In fact, your first date was at an ice cream shop. He’ll lie and say that he takes you for ice cream every Friday because he loves ice cream, but it’s really because he loves how cute you look when you eat it. You always get chocolate, and it always manages to get all over you. You used to get embarrassed when Jeongin would laugh and take your chin in his hands while tentatively wiping your face, but now you just let him without being embarrassed.

SPIDERVERSE CONCEPT CUZ IVE BEEN OBSESSED

OK SO!! I’ve seen a LOT of headcanons and concepts about Miguel finding his kid in a different universe and just being super protective of them, whether they’re a spider or a normal civilian. But I have a different take on it.

Imagine Miguel and his crew of spider people hunting down this new anomaly that’s been jumping between different universes, always managing to narrowly escape them. Miguel is super frustrated because not one of them is able to capture this villain? Person? Ugh he doesn’t have enough time to care with all the mayhem they’re causing.

This new anomaly, aka Reader, happened to gain these freak new abilities after the events in ITSV that allows them to tear a hole in any universe and travel through it. Of course they have no idea which universe their new powers will take them to so it’s always a 50/50 chance with it.

But the real problem that makes reader a ‘threat’ to the spider society is when they stay too long in a universe, things start slowly glitching out and causing destruction to the world. They’re just too strong that it breaks the balance of any universe they stay in. Kind of like tipping the scale sort of deal!

Which is why homeboy Miguel wants Reader detained asap before they cause a whole universe to collapse on itself. But like! It’s not the readers fault really!! They just don’t know how to control their powers and having a bunch of adults viciously chase them around really does something to a kid (looking at you Miles💀)

But constantly running away from superheroes while wearing a mask does begin painting them in a villain light💔

So imagine Reader gets cornered at last by Miguel, Jess, and some other spiders.

“Guys, I promise it’s not what it looks like. I’m just a normal person, I’m practically harmless!” They say as they bump against the building behind them, watching in horror as it begins to glitch at the contact they made.

Despite the teens voice sounding familiar, Miguel brushes it off and scoffs.

“Ha, harmless. Don’t make this any more difficult than it has to be.”

Reader has no idea what the spider society is gonna do to them so they can only glitch a hole in the building behind them and run away in fear. Miguel is absolutely fed up with them and just dashes after Reader, chasing them up buildings as they glitch around. He knows he’s running out of time since this usually only happens when they’re getting ready to open a portal.

He would manage to get a hold of their hoodies sleeve before they go tumbling down to the ground, mask yanked off to properly breath in some air. Reader opens a portal, trying to stand up and stumbling a bit, looking back to Miguel.

Just as he’s about to run towards them and tackle them to the ground, his breath gets caught in his throat, heart suddenly beating erratically.

He recognizes their hair, the shape of their face, sees the fear in their eyes. He literally cannot move. Miguel is frozen at his spot, body trembling at the sight of you. His child. His dead child.

“y/n?” His voice would almost be a whisper, but reader hears. They can only stare in shock at the sound of their name, slowly backing up.

“How do you know my name?”

This dude would get some major flash backs, from his old life, to when he caused a universe’s destruction. Everything he swore to protect, to love, he failed. He failed reader twice, so it’s understandable that Miguel might be a little afraid of you.

He would not move an inch even after readers gone, Jess having to snap him back to reality. Miguel was not ready to get a smack to the face with seeing Reader again after all this time and pain.

This is what I wanted to talk about originally. After seeing his kid again, instead of growing desperate to create a new relationship with them, he’s just afraid. He’s scared of a repeat after what happened before. Miguel wouldn’t be able to stand the sight of reader, they remind him too much of what he’s lost.

I think he would step down in being about of the chase for Reader, he can’t go after them after finding out their his child. Well, in a different universe, their his child. He’s too afraid to face them again. Too afraid of the memories they bring.

It’s only when they accidentally glitch into his office that he’s forced to come face with them again. And when he does, he tries his best to get away from them💀💀💀 like bro is webbing away, powering up his platform and getting lifted up into the air away from them.

Which would totally be fine with Reader hadn’t they been chased down by this man for a couple of weeks. Why isn’t he trying to attack them? What’s the sudden mood change? Is he afraid of what they could do?

They can only clumsily climb their way up to him while asking him questions.

“Um, I know we got off the wrong foot but- urgh! Almost slipped haha! Anyways like I was saying! What’s your name? Oh and why are you trying to get away from me?”

They would be right in front of Miguel, a few feet away from where they’re hanging and he would just turn around, back facing them while they grunt in annoyance.

“You stopped going with your little gang. I know I’ve been zapping all over the place but was it something I did? Hey are you ok??”

Miguel’s body would move as he tries to stifle his quiet sobs at the sound of your voice. Oh god did he miss you. But he can’t get close to reader again. Not after what happened last time.

“I think I have tissue somewhere in my poCKEETTT-!” Miguel’s immediately webbing reader towards him as they slip off the pipe they were standing on, making a free fall

He lets out a shaky breath at the sight of you alright in his arms again. He can’t control his urges as he hugs reader tightly, letting soft apologies fall from his lips.

All this is happening and reader is just so dumbfounded. They could only awkwardly pat his arm and accept his apologies. You didn’t know he was THAT sorry for chasing you around universes.

“I missed you so much. I never wanted that to happen to you, mi corazon. I’m so sorry. I’m so, so sorry.”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about man but thanks I guess?”

He’s sniffling as he releases you, eyebrows furrowed as he holds you by the shoulders. It’s only when he realizes reader has no idea who he is that his heart sinks.

“My dad died when I was young. Like toddler young. I never got to know him.”

You don’t know how to feel when Miguel reveals that he was your father, not the same dad from your universe, but a different variant.

This begins the weird growing relationship between the two of them. Miguel tries his best to put distance between them while Reader is just super eager to know more about him! His favorite foods, how he created this spider society, what happened to the different variant of you that clearly has him shaken up!

It would take a bit of time before Miguel slowly lets down his guard again. Allowing reader into his heart again for the third time.

I LOVED your love/attachment meta and I wanted to ask what you thought about Obitine. I love Satine’s addition in The Clone Wars because her relationship with Obi Wan is objectively a healthy one and he’s not possessive of her but they CANNOT be together and it’s explicitly because Jedi cannot know love. Obi Wan’s self control and lack of possessiveness doesn’t matter, he cannot be with her and be a Jedi at the same time, and it feels almost like their relationship was included as a rebuttal to people who say romance/love was allowed for Jedi so long as it “wasn’t possessive attachment” (an argument I mainly see from the anti anidala/anti anakin crowd). Anyway, I just wondered if you felt Obitine was meant on commentary on the Jedi code in addition to being a contrast to Anidala?

Long answer:

Somehow, there are quite a number of people who seem to think that Jedi were allowed to have romantic relationships. And while the Jedi did allow exceptions to this rule (Revan was allowed to marry Bastilla Shan, and Ki-Adi Mundi was allowed to have numerous wives because of the population of his species) there were very few exceptions.

In general, this was a hard, inflexible rule and Obi-Wan's relationship with Satine literally proves that.

In The Clone Wars, we are shown that Obi-Wan Kenobi has feelings for Satine Kryze, Duchess of Mandalore. Despite this, he kept these feelings locked down and tucked away. He never allowed what he felt for Satine to cross over into the raw, visceral attachment that Anakin and Padmé had for each other, and yet he still was not allowed to be with her. Yet even that muted connection, that quiet fondness, would have required him to walk away from the Jedi Order.

Obi-Wan Kenobi was one of the greatest Jedi who ever lived, who embodied the Jedi Order of his time. And being a Jedi was his purpose in life, it was his calling. Obi-Wan Kenobi would always be a Jedi. And yet he would have left that behind to be with Satine. Yet why would he leave it behind at all if he didn't have to? If the Jedi were allowed to have relationships, Obi-Wan shouldn't have needed to choose between the Jedi and Satine, as long as he could have remained true to Jedi philosophy and not grow too attached, despite his love for her.

Now, let's address the rancor in the room: Anakin and Padmé. Anidala haters love to talk about how "unhealthy" the Anidala relationship is, and yes while their love was messy, intense, and deeply co-dependent, there's nothing inherently wrong with that because both of them took great joy in their relationship. Just because you would not enjoy being in a relationship like theirs does not make it unhealthy.

My parents have a relationship that would feel suffocating to me, and yet it is perfect for them. My relationship with my husband is very different, but it is perfect for me.

The thing is, all relationships are going to be as unique as the people involved in the relationship. As long as there is a balance, and both people are happy, there isn't anything wrong with it. And let's be real here, Anakin and Padmé were not normal people in the slightest, so they were not going to have anything resembling a normal relationship.

Did they have fights? Yes, every married couple has fights. Did they endure trials and tribulations in their relationship and as a couple? Of course they did, every married couple goes through that. And those who truly love each other, come out stronger on the other side, just like Anakin and Padmé did.

Were they always a perfect husband or wife to each other? No, they are people, and perfection is unreachable.

Their love was born from a deep connection, a shared understanding that transcended the boundaries of their respective roles. To say it was unhealthy is to ignore the genuine affection, the unwavering loyalty they had for each other. It's to judge them by the standards of "normal" people, which they most certainly were not.

Obi-Wan's relationship with Satine, in contrast, was a study in restraint. He held back, he kept his distance, and he ultimately chose the Order over her. It wasn’t that his feeling were less “real” than Anakin's, it was that he was able to follow the rules of the Jedi, which forbade him from having a romantic relationship.

That’s the commentary.

It shows that even a whisper of attachment was too much for the Jedi. It highlights the stark contrast between the Order's rigid dogma and the messy, unpredictable nature of human (or, well, sentient) emotions.

So, yes, Obi-Wan's relationship with Satine serves as a stark reminder of the Jedi's uncompromising stance on attachments, which I think makes a very good case for the fact that Jedi were not allowed to have romantic relationships.

Hello!! I’m so glad I found your blog when I returned to tumblr after 5 years haha, your posts and opinions are always sound and thought provoking :)

I was just curious, and I’ve asked this of a couple others since I’m like a dragon with a hoard I love me some opinions, after 9+ hours of AYS do you still think jikook might be real? And do you think it showed that they were together thru chapter 2 (I know some believe that there was a break up).

My answer is yes, that there is strong chance that they are dating and were doing so throughout chapter 2. But would love your insight too :)

Let me just make it clear that I’ve never claimed to be 100% sure that Jikook are a couple but I 100% believe that their relationship over the years hasn’t always been a platonic one.

After watching over 9 hours of AYS I am still certain that Jikook love each other and are important to each other. I am also certain that the nature of their relationship hasn’t always been platonic but I am one of those people who believes that something was off with them during parts of the solo era. I don’t know if I would say they broke up or were on a break (because I don’t know that) but I do think something was a little off especially around the time when they shot the NY episodes. It doesn’t necessarily have to be that they broke up or were on a break but sometimes when people’s circumstances change, it is normal that they go through some hurdles in their relationships. We all know that the solo era came with Jimin and Jungkook having completely different schedules and I also think that at some point they were both operating on different wavelengths and probably needed other people more than they needed each other (this is normal and there is absolutely nothing wrong with needing other people more than you need you lovers at certain times) I think that at some point their very different lives and schedules made things difficult for them to maintain a normal relationship and it possibly caused some distance between them. I have never been one who has always been stuck to the opinion that Jimin and Jungkook have a normal or conventional type relationship. I have always been open to the possibility that maybe they couldn’t quite have that because of their circumstances but i’ve never doubted that there was something more going on between them.

So to answer your question more directly I would say i’m not positive that things were the same during certain points of the solo era and that includes when they filmed the NY episodes of AYS but I think by the time they filmed Jeju and Sapporo, things were pretty much back to normal and Jikook seemed like the Jikook we knew. I cannot say for sure if they were on a break or if they broke up but what I can say for sure is that, that something which felt a little off with them at the beginning, disappeared as we progessed through the episodes as I could sense a shift in energy, plus, just watching the episodes after NY and aside from noticing the obvious closeness and connection between Jikook, you could see that they were very updated about each other’s lives. We had Jimin singing Jungkook’s unreleased “3D”, Jungkook knowing about Jimin’s upcoming album and also seeing his performance video with the kids way before it was released and even just the fact that they decided to enlist together. All these were proof that whatever was off between them before, had been sorted out.

I know this is a touchy subject for Jikookers as many people have different opinions about Jikook in chapter two and some jikookers don’t like hearing about the possibility of Jikook having off moments or possibly being or breaks or breaking up, but it happens. I feel like sometimes we forget that we have been following up moments of these guys lives that have spanned for over 13 years and there is no way in these 13 years it was always smooth sailing. I think it’s normal that within these periods, we would experience them in all sorts of states and probably watch them go through thick and thin without even realizing exactly what they are going through.

I think by the time Jikook were done filming AYS, they were ok. I think alot of the “offness” that I sensed probably happened because of a drastic change in their lives which they both probably didn’t know how to handle well. Jimin and Jungkook had been used to being together almost all the time. Going through all the years since they met in 2012 and then debuted in 2013, there is not a single year that went by without us seeing or hearing about Jikook being joined at the hip. I think the first time they had to deal with that kind of separation since they met was the solo era with Jimin being neck deep in work and having to move in with producers temporarily to work on his album while Jungkook wasn’t doing anything at all. They were in very different places at the time so I think some distance crept in. Jimin was in work mode and needed people in work mode while Jk was on rest mode and needed people on that same wavelength. At the beginning of last year, it was crystal clear that Jungkook was going through something. I don’t want to be presumptuous and say that what ever seemed to be bothering him had to do with Jimin because I don’t know that but I think it was interesting how much he couldn’t hide the fact that he missed Jimin. Whether as a friend or as a lover, it isn’t debatable that Jungkook missed him so much. Him instinctively asking Jimin to come over and do stuff with him everytime Jimin commented on his lives, him watching tons of Jimin content and talking about him alot, him replying to Jimin’s “I miss You” post on weverse and then proceeding to watch a bunch of Jimin centric content….he missed him. I cannot put my finger on whatever was going on but the dots are connecting and something sure was off at the some point last year but all is well that ends well. We may never get to find out what exactly happened and may just be stuck with speculation but I guess we can all rest easy knowing that at this very moment, at the end of everything, Jimin and Jungkook found their way back to each other and are together right now going through one of the most difficult moments of their lives together and they’ll only come back, closer and much more connected than they ever were. (gosh this sounds so cheesy lol)

Boombox x autistic Reader

update on me reading coraline, i finished it in a day, not even i started it at noon and finished right before midnight, i read it in 12 hours between all my school work and accidentally napping and getting dinner with my sister (the one who ate the brownie) and also making more of the brownies so more like i read it in 2 hours, anyways onto the hcs!

- “Loud party animal and quiet Alone time? Get you a man who can do both” You said bet, let’s do it

- Boombox is a very sweet and friendly guy, especially around you, when you first told him you were autistic so had some difficulty with certain things that day when he got home he researched it and common things about it so that way he could be as accommodating towards you as possible, and that carried over into your relationship

- One of the first things he gave you was a pair of noise canceling headphones, really high quality and super comfortable, if need be even custom made if your horns got in the way, it was the sweetest thing, you use them often, they double as regular headphones so you can listen to music he recommends you at your own volume, you loved him but on occasion his boombox could be a bit too loud and he understood that and was never offended if you wore your headphones or asked him to turn it down

- Since he more so enjoys just chilling with people it made you less worried about dates, you felt like you could unmask and be yourself around him in private, he never judged you for who you were, saying he loved who you were and didn’t want you hiding yourself from him, that made you feel really good

- He already had some fidgets, even if he didn’t know what they were, so you stole like half of them, specifically that one type that’s those slugs that make that really good sound, you shook it once and decided it was yours now, he just laughed and said that was cool

- Boombox understands raves and party can be overstimulating so never makes you go but he still asks if you want to go with him, if you do he gets really happy and packs anything you might need and tells you just let him know if you wanna leave no questions asked, if you say no he doesn’t mind, partying isn’t for everyone, the bright lights, sounds, all the people, while he loved it he could understand why it was too much for others

- He’s a touchy person but always respects your boundaries surrounding you and physical contact, if your someone who enjoys deep pressure* he is all for you resting your entire weight on him, makes him feel happy, more so if you don’t normally enjoy physical affection, he prefers smaller touches but makes an exception for you for those reasons

- He collects the little things you give him, small trinkets or stones, things that remind you of him, he smiles and thanks you even if he doesn’t quite understand how it reminds you of him, they’re special to him so he shows them off in his dresser all lined up, maybe in order of when he got them or their size or color etc, makes you happy that they’re in an order

- He has a visor, you cannot see his eyes, you don’t have to make eye contact, it’s absolutely amazing, and if you do your looking at pixels not real eyes, it’s wonderful

- That chain on his pants makes a nice sounds when he walks so you can hear him coming if your headphones are off (if he doesn’t have his music on) and it’s cold metal so you mess with it to ground yourself if need be, he sometimes doesn’t notice you messing with it, till he says something to you, you don’t respond, and he looks over to you to see you messing with the chain completely focused on it, unaware of anything else, he says your name and you just look up at him with the tbh creature face, it’s really funny

Very much aware of how good looking he is, and shows it off proudly.

Has to travel around his car almost all the time, when people see him on the streets or just at a store, they freak out and will reach for the first thing they see so he signs it, which he never rejects.

If he's offered to have things for free he won't think twice or try to act humble, Izaack will reach out for it, say thank you and rush out of there.

Absolute heartbreaker, man cannot remember how many ladies he's dated... on the past week. Tho he never brings anyone bc, you know, DDD restrictions.

As to his neighbors, he's always approaching the ones with the most interesting occupations, just to see if they'd bring enough to the table for a special coverage on his program, since he's so done with reporting the same doppels bs and their victims everyday.

He likes the local bar near the building since he's seen more as a normal person rather than a celebrity and can enjoy the company there, specially Angus', he's very fun to hang out with.

They'd usually be singing and dancing and asking for so many rounds of drinks, to which sometimes the young Rudboys man will join (despite being so serious behind those mysterious sunglasses he carries everywhere, he's got a contagious laugh).

He usually sees Angus along with a pathetic milkman guy which he's teasing or jokingly hugging in a very clingy way, without said milkman showing any emotion other than sleepiness, and he finds it funny that just a little sip from whatever he's drinking is enough to knock him out.

They all get back to the building together, still kinda singing in between laughs and hiccups, stumbling everywhere while Izaack is carrying Francis in his shoulders so easily. They're the last ones arriving to the building, and the reason doorman has to make extra time every saturday just to wait for them (and deal with them). So annoying.

BONUS wild guess I'm not even considering as headcanon bc omg: what if Izaack used to be Nacha's fiance... but then Francis came, they found out abt Anne, everything went down blabla, the despise between them would be so... jeez...

Liang Headcanons

Absolutely 100% gay. He ended up having a major crisis over this. Not only because he was raised to think it was wrong but also because between the temple, the mafia and prison, he was also questioning if he only felt this way because his whole life, he’s pretty much only ever been around men.

He’s told next to no one that he’s gay and doesn’t intend to until he’s out of prison. He already gets enough shit just for looking the way he does and he does not want to add more fuel to the fire.

Realising he’s gay made him hate being called “feminine” and “like a woman” even more. He does not want to be stereotyped.

He’s not afraid of the other inmates, he’s just so over it. He’s so tried of the comments and behaviour that comes his way constantly and just doesn’t want to deal with getting even more of it. The only thing he was really afraid of was losing the respect or even his entire relationships with the people he actually cares about. Like Rock and Samon.

The only person he’s opened up to about this so far is Rock. Over time, he not only became a close and trusted friend to Liang but he became one of the only people he would trust with something like this, and he had to ask someone if being like this was normal. Or even right.

Opening up to Rock went better than Liang expected or hoped it would. Ever since he did Rock has been well, Liang’s rock. He’s been completely understanding and supportive. He assured Liang that there’s nothing wrong with being the way he is and he even opened up to him that he liked guys himself (he’s pan).

Laing has also considered coming out to Qi because he’s the least judgmental person he knows but Qi’s morals have always questionable at best. Also, Liang has a horrible feeling that Qi would just try to show him some of those disgusting magazines.

If Liang finds those magazines in his cell, he makes sure everyone involved (mainly Inori) gets their asses kicked because “Not in the same cell as Upa! Oh my god!” It does not mater how many times Upa says something along the lines of “as if I would even touch them.”

Basically a helicopter parent when it comes to Upa. He’s beyond thankful that finally has some good influences in his life life, like Samon and the Rokorikki brothers. He was worried for years about how he would turn out. If he even made it to adult at all.

Due to what he’s done in the past, he does not see himself as being a good influence.

He’s thankful for Nico as well. He isn’t sure how good of an influence he is (he can be quite reckless) but he thanks to him Upa has finally been able to bond with someone his own age and he’s helping Upa to be a kid and enjoy life again.

Relates to Jyugo. He spent so long surviving instead of living that he’s forgotten most of the things he likes and now he’s trying to find them again. He’s sure that Upa is the same so he’s taken notes from Rock, Nico and Uno and has been encouraging Upa to finds more things he likes too.

Cannot tell anyone about his upbringing without them being like “Holy shit. You were raised in a cult.” Upa and Qi are convinced of this.

Sometimes he thinks maybe he was raised in a cult…

He’s kind of scared about being released. He wants to rejoin society and find a life for himself but at the same time, he doesn’t really have anywhere to go and he doesn’t know what he’ll do once he is released.

He doesn’t ever intend on going back to the temple he was raised in. For one, he’s afraid of what he’ll find. He seriously doubts Hachiman actually kept his promise and even if the temple is still standing and everyone in it is still alive, he doesn’t want to see his old master again.

He has complex post traumatic stress disorder as the result of his mafia years and what he went through with Enki. He hated that he has this for years and to an extent still does. He doesn’t feel this way so much anymore but sometimes it can still make him feel weak.

He’s grateful he met Chimney, he feels she helped him become a wiser, mentally stronger and more mature person.

Over the years, he’s slowly started to realise the temple raised him with some very unhealthy teachings and their practices have done him more harm than good. There was his encounter with Chimney for one, which made him realise how arrogant he had been about women and he also used to think that opening up about one’s thoughts and emotions was for weak people. He was honestly offended when Samon signed him up for mandatory counselling (he did this with all three of the cell 8 inmates the moment he was in charge of them) because he thought it meant Samon thought he was weak. He rejected it for a long time but eventually, it did start to help. He’s now grateful Samon signed him up for it, as it’s helped him not only heal and grow as a person but grow past the damaging things he was raised to believe. And he now knows that he was never weak for needing help, he was just human.

Well...unless you remember that the asari and humans could wear the same armour in ME1, and their statues at the temple look very similar to us. Then, by accounts, humans should be borrowing from the asari hotness in the eyes of the rest of the galaxy since we look so much alike.

And Krogans hit on asari an absurd amount. Unless their attraction is solely based on asari's ability to reproduce with them? Then humans are still a zero.

We look so different from krogans that the only way for them to find us attractive would be through a "monsterfucker" kinda of attraction.

With us being the said monster.

Not necessarily an intimidating monster, but not like how you'd be attracted to an elf either, since elves are very similar looking to us.

You could make the argument that being attracted to humans in krogan society is the krogan equivalent of a human furry.

Our thin fragile necks must especially make them feel uneasy.

But they'd like our curves and fat! I'm looking at their physical build, and even male krogans have prominent hips.

Unless those are shells...

I don't think our hair is very appealing. Soft skin, small faces, and hair "fur" remind them of pyjack puppies. We're just missing the tail. Actually, the tail would've made us more appealing since Krogans still have their tail.

Our eyes! They must like our eyes. In comparison to most animals, humans have small eyes. But so do Krogans! Small eyes must be a plus. Unsure about the eyelashes and eyebrows, tho.

They have slit pupils, I wonder if they function like cats. Do our round ones make us appear constantly vigilant and focus? Like a predetor preparing to jump at its prey?

Personality wise?

We don't have a stick up our ass like the turians, we don't nag them like the salarians, we aren't holier than thou like the asari.

We are digestible. A little daredevil-ly, in fact, would lose an arm to pet a varren.

Let's do a little class exercise, I want you, yes you reading this, to close your eyes for a moment and imagine you're on a bus, sitting next to a krogan.

This is your reality, krogans have existed your whole life. They're rare to see, yeah, but nothing bad really.

What would you do? Realistically.

Mind your business! Duh. 99% of humans would just glance at the krogan maybe once, then go back on their phone. Nothing less, nothing more.

Now this simple act, seems to be lost on the rest of the galaxy's species who absolutely cannot mind their fucking business when a stranger krogan sits next to them. No, they have to make a big deal and either switch seat or feel threatened by the krogan, which leads to an argument.

Humans weren't there for the genophage or the war. Humans are a blank page when it comes to krogans. A new start, they really need like a breath of fresh air because dealing with any other race is too damn suffocating right now.

With time, as the wounds heal and people stop mindlessly discriminating against krogans, bridges will be rebuilt between them and the rest of the galaxy.

But as it stands today, humans are the ones most acting the most normal around Krogans. Leading to us forming the most alliance, friendships, and relationships.

Plus they must enjoy our easily influenced personality. We pick up habits from those around us, we cave under social pressure, we enjoy both the thrill and the softness of life. The same human wrestling with a krogan with little regards to their own easily breakup bones, would be down to cuddling with the same krogan on a comfy bed after they get tired.

Krogans were uplifted from the Stone Ages, and we humans are still running on old stone-age hardware bodies. We hold a lot of the primal urges our ancestors did. Evolution takes an absurdly long time to even make a dent into a species. There is very little difference between us and humans 2000 years ago.

We are feral to an extent, Krogans would absolutely adore that.

Culture wise?

We are diverse! unimaginably so. There are humans bound to click with krogan culture, bound to see the appeal they see, to fall in love with Tuchanka's deadly wastelands.

We can easily eat their food, we can eat most alien foods.

We didn't explore the galaxy just so we can nest up in our own cushy planet amidst our own coddling civilisation! We wanna explore dammit! Actually explore and verge into new cutleres, appreciate their customs and see if we can find ourselves a fitting place there.

You'd find humans on Tuchanka, merchants who just decided to stay one day and make this place their new home. Runaways looking for a new chance, tired of the constant social games. Humans who followed their krogan friends back home and found out that this place is pretty neat actually, think they'll stay here.

🫀The Heart's Savior.

Today I want to discuss a fairly complex topic that I will have to divide into three parts. I do not know when I will publish the remaining two, but I will certainly try to be as quick as possible to complete it as soon as possible. Well, the title of this topic is clearly a pun. King Kai would probably love it, because as you can imagine the word "heart" is musically related to the word "earth." This creates a close connection between two terms that are absolutely linked in Dragon Ball. The point is that in our story we often talk about earth's saviors, which is normal since the goal is to save the planet at all costs. However, it seems to me that nowhere is it written that only muscles and ultra-powered energy balls are always needed to protect the earth. Sometimes the heroic gesture happens even beyond the battlefield, and it does not even have to be addressed to the whole world. It would be enough to help even one person, and that could make all the difference. From this point of view Yamcha has done a lot, but unfortunately his good deeds have always gone unnoticed or foolishly ignored. So today I will try to bring back to the forefront his personal heroism, which as far as I am concerned had its little best between the Androids Saga and the Cell Saga.

I will divide the three parts in a temporal sense. The first part will be about the past, the second part about the present, and the third part about the future, so that it will be very clear to everyone how Yamcha's contribution has seriously saved the whole arc of Dragon Ball.

So... Let's not waste any more time!

PART 1: The Past.

In order to better understand all that will follow, it is good to specify once again what Yamcha's role in the story consists of: he is basically a support. This does not mean that his character automatically takes a back seat, but simply that his personality causes him to behave in a certain way, surely different from all the other warriors who immediately take the field. Many people laugh that Yamcha is a coward who prefers to shy away from battles, but that is not true. Yamcha is there. He has always been there, and no matter what, he has always tried in his own way to help.

Few people notice it, but I cannot help but realize how in these two arcs he has fought the most dangerous battle of all. No, guys, I am not joking or overestimating the character. Keep following me and you will understand better.

The chapter "The Past" is perhaps the one that most shows what I think, as well as the most important. Here we will talk about the one and only Goku, who has been part of Yamcha's life since the days when they were a child and a young boy respectively. You know, the one between Yamcha and Goku is a long-term friendship. Think of it, it is even longer lasting than the friendship between Kuririn and Goku, since he met the bald kid some time after meeting the desert bandit. I know that time is relative when it comes to relationships, but I only want to emphasize this precisely to point out how much more intertwined Yamcha and Goku's lives are than you might think. For this reason, Goku won the first chapter. It is a symbolic way of saying that Yamcha cannot help but give thanks to his past.

Let's go in order.

The Androids and Cell Saga is certainly one of the most fascinating and memorable. The plot is considerably more intricate, a historical enemy, the Red Ribbon Army, returns, and most importantly we have the full Z-Fighters for the entire duration of the story arc. What is most beautiful is that everyone, in one way or another, makes a contribution, even those thought to be "weaker". For example, Tenshinhan's intervention trying to stop Cell's second transformation from absorbing Android 18 is unforgettable.

But... what about Yamcha? It really seems that he did not do much in the battle, but that is not the case. Well, he certainly fought less than Piccolo and Vegeta, but that doesn't mean he helped less than the others. First of all, we must take into account an absolutely essential event that strongly influenced Yamcha's future actions: upon the arrival of androids 19 and 20 he was the first to risk death. No, I should correct myself: he almost died. Had it not been for the Senzu bean, he would surely have died within a very few minutes, and even if he eventually survived, that does not mean that Yamcha has forgotten the pain he felt from that horrid hand completely perforating his chest.

This is a a full-fledged trauma. Not only that, it is also an epiphany for him, because at that moment he realizes that he is unable to cope with two such terribly strong monsters. Think how discouraging it must have been for him to have to accept the fact that he was knocked out practically at the beginning. If we then want to add that all this coincides with the separation from Bulma, which he certainly did not take well, let us say that this period was not the best for his already fragile personality hidden behind his great charisma.

However, a little later something extraordinary happens. It is a scene that I personally find as moving as it is realistic, simply because Yamcha proves once again that he is the most human of all. Unfortunately, this scene is seen by everyone as Yamcha's usual ridiculous moment, but the truth is that this is where he demonstrates all his greatness. I'm talking about the time when Goku suddenly gets sick from the disease and someone necessarily has to accompany him home to start treatment. Gohan is the first to offer, of course he is his father and cannot do otherwise, but he is immediately stopped by Yamcha who offers to do it for him.

This is the first time ever that Yamcha puts aside the pride that has often made him tenderly cocky and admits in front of everyone that he is the weaker one. I would have many things to say about this consideration of him, because I strongly believe that his problem is precisely that he has come to hasty opinions of himself precisely because of his fragile personality, but I will not discuss that now. Here, an interesting point is that he calls it pathetic to stand aside, but he is very wrong. There is nothing pathetic about accepting one's limitations and giving way to someone more capable. It is also a very good strategy. If Gohan had left, the chances of others being defeated would have been much higher. Taking away a strong member of the team would have only made things worse, so it makes sense that it should have been the least strong person to leave. This to me is the most exemplary test of courage of all. In Dragon Ball we have always seen proud, swaggering characters constantly bragging about their strength, but few times have we seen someone take a step back because staying might have only gotten in the way. The hole in his uniform is the greatest demonstration of this. You can see that he is ashamed of it, that a silent anger simmers inside him and that all the frustration accumulated over those years has reached its peak, but boy, let's just say that in saying that he is more badass than those who do not accept being second best. That's why I say Yamcha is incredible. He is the only one who took a step backward, not knowing that by doing so he was able to go beyond. This is the way of life. At some point you stop running aimlessly, you look inside yourself, and you realize that in order to move forward you must also know how to go back. That's what Mr. Popo had told him to do, but he was too young and blustery to listen to him. And that's okay. He's a human, let's never forget that.

I could end here. Yamcha leaving the group and entrusting the mission to heroes stronger than himself, but this is where the fun begins.

Just before getting up in the air, Piccolo warns him that there may be a risk that Goku's illness may be viral. This means that Yamcha, being in close contact with the infected, risks contracting the virus as much as the saiyan did. Actually, it is not confirmed anywhere that the virus is contagious. Piccolo assumed this from Trunks' words when he explained to Goku what would happen in a few years.

We only know with certainty that senzu can do nothing against this disease and especially that not even a super saiyan can recover from this illness. Did you get it right? This means that an earthling is totally unable to survive this disease. I mean, if a saiyan has no chance, a human being is triply doomed. We are back to square one. Yamcha is risking his life again, and this time against an absolutely unbeatable enemy that has defeated even Goku. Do you understand? Goku. If there was a margin of possibility to beat the androids, in this case it is completely impossible. So by agreeing to help Goku, consequently Yamcha also agrees that he can surely die. But this time he is not backing down. This time he is sure of what he is doing, just because his greatest goal is not to survive and avoid death but to support in his own way. Coward, huh? From here it is clear how dying is not his problem at all. Or rather, it is, but it does not matter if it means helping the one he loves and, in this case, the one who could save the entire planet.

This is how Yamcha's true nature comes out. Actually it is possible to notice it long before, but this time it is practically evident. I imagine him constantly searching for his place in the world, but the truth is that he has already found it, he just hasn't realized it yet. He hasn't realized that his job on the team is precisely to take care of everyone, even more than a magic bean can. It is a shame that even the authors did not realize this aspect of him. What the hell... Seriously, did no one notice how heroic Yamcha was at this point in the story? He remains there with him, keeping vigil for his friend, and with great bravery faces a battle in which emotions are also at stake.

The scenes in which Chichi and Yamcha care for Goku are among the sweetest in all of Dragon Ball. Yamcha is not required to stay because Chichi is already in the house, but he once again makes himself available to help as much as he can. Notcing how Goku struggles in pain, Yamcha's strength may be needed to block the saiyan and prevent him from unintentionally hurting himself or Chichi. What's more, assuming a worsening of the disease, thanks to the ability of flight Yamcha could transport him anywhere else in no time.

In some ways, he is also taking care of Chichi. A wife who sees her husband in so much pain can never cope alone, she needs support, comfort, someone to tell her that everything will be all right, and Yamcha is absolutely perfect for this role.

No one else among the Z-Fighter would be able to instill serenity in Chichi as Yamcha does. His patient, friendly temperament, always ready to reassure anyone, has surely prevented her from any crisis or attack of fear. One can well see how Yamcha's sensitivity goes beyond fine words. His mental elasticity leads him to reason quickly about all possible eventualities, so without a second thought he even suggests that Chichi take the medicine with him. Yet more proof of how he really loves everyone.

For example, this is a scene that explains very well what I mean. We're talking about filler, but I don't care. Whoever decided to do them must have understood that Yamcha deserved more. It is only a small detail, but at least it is highlighted how Yamcha's presence was crucial for Chichi and Goku himself. Here we can see Goku once again being sick, so Yamcha warns Chichi to retrieve the medicine again, but when she rushes to look for it she cannot find it, perhaps because she is so panicked that she does not understand anything more for a few moments. Sensing her confusion, Yamcha turns toward her and in no time comes to her rescue, pointing her to the exact spot where the medicine is. She grabs it and so Goku can once again stop suffering. I like to think that Yamcha's sixth sense, or ultimately his well-developed spirit of observation, helped him easily memorize where the medicine was at that time. His cool-headedness, coupled with his gentleness, were definitely a staple in Goku and Chichi's most intimate and fragile moment.

Two great friends of Goku, initially villains and then both reformed to become his allies, stand before Goku when he is in trouble, to protect him from the Cell Juniors. It doesn't really matter that they are not strong enough to defend him forever, but just being there for him, acting as his human barrier, is one of the best moments. When I say that they could create a lot of good content for Earthlings, I am also referring to these kinds of scenes. It would be nice if they could recapture the atmosphere of this arc, where everyone lends a hand and everyone fights in their own way, even if they don't necessarily win.

Well… I know I've said as much as I know I could still say as much. I would just like to point out something. Doesn't it also seem to you that Yamcha is a bit like a guardian angel for Goku? Pay attention to that. Yamcha took care of Goku at the very time when he was most vulnerable. This shows how he has always been that big brother to him who has always watched over him. He took care of his heart at a time when not even a senzu could help him feel better, and going back to the past… He took care of Goku even in his most unconscious state, which is when he transforms into the Great Ape. The first time, being the only one who realized that his weak point was his tail, he had managed to stop him by cutting it off with Puar's help. But it is when Goku transforms for the second time that Yamcha shows off all his love for his friend, running up to Jackie Chun to stop him from hurling the kamehameha at the monster.

In the end, the moon was the target, but Yamcha and the others certainly could not have imagined that. I find it extremely emotional to see him desperate and ready to even hurt himself in order to prevent the death of his little friend.

As you can see, protecting Goku has always been part of Yamcha's instinct, and it is a pity that many have forgotten or ignored it. He is the character who most of all is moved by love, in every possible sense.

Therefore, while someone else gets the title of Earth's Savior, Yamcha absolutely wins that of Heart's Savior.
