As for the 309 kitchen scene, I love screaming about it, so yeeeeees, I'm glad we get to together! XD I personally am convinced that the 309 sexual tension was intentional. Why? Because the scene doesn't work without it. There's a joke they wanted to play, where they build our expectations towards some sort of an explosion between these two characters, but then instead of giving us that, they provide comic relief through letting a different kind of scene play out, a light-hearted one, comical in nature, that would make us smile (Buddifer playing video games together). But this only works if they REALLY build up the tension and if we REALLY ask ourselves whether there's going to be a blow up of some kind on our screens in a second. And while the scene plays around the idea that maybe Buddie will physically fight each other, we all know they were not. Buck had just apologized to Eddie again, he just showed how much he cares, and Eddie was visibly affected and moved by this, and their whole talk vibrates with how much they care about each other, I don't think anyone really believed they were gonna start punching each other. So if for the comic bit to work, the tension has to be real, and the aggressive/violent tension isn't, what made the comedy there work? The sexual tension. They HAD to turn to the implication of sexual tension, otherwise that whole thing falls flat. So yes, this is why I'm sure they did THAT intentionally. And your reaction, which you so perfectly described? It's not just yours. I went through it as well, and I'm sure we're not the only ones, because we were supposed to embrace for impact.

And I'm with you, I very much believe 911 has written itself into a corner. No one would ever work with either Buck or Eddie as well as the other one does. Eddie was originally supposed to be Maddie's Love Interest, but the second they changed course on that, they clearly built Eddie's introduction with Oliver and Ryan's chemistry in mind. It was hard to keep my hands off of Marshall as we walked down the red carpet. It was our first public outing as a couple, but Marshall wasn’t very into PDA so we had decided to keep it somewhat lowkey. It seemed like a good idea in theory, until Marshall did the unthinkable and showed up dressed in a suit. How am I supposed to not jump his bones when he looks damn fine in a suit?

Every time I so much as glanced at him the paparazzi would go crazy. So many flashing lights that eventually I was seeing spots. It was hard to keep smiling when I couldn’t even see ahead of me.

Marshall put an arm around my waist - which of course led to more flashing lights - and walked me off the red carpet into the venue. The minute I walked through the doors into the dimly lit room, it really was like I couldn’t see. I had to take a minute to let my eyes adjust to the sudden light change.

“Weird how quickly I go from basically a nobody on a red carpet to a hot commodity just because I have attractive arm candy,” I joked.

A half smile tugged at Marshall’s lips. “You were never a nobody. Not to me anyways.”

I felt warm, like I was sweating, which made me worry that my makeup was starting to run. I was going to look disgusting with my makeup running on live television.

Sensing my new found nervousness, Marshall gave my hand a reassuring squeeze.

“Hey, look at me.” I glanced over to meet his gaze. “It’s going to be okay. You’ve rehearsed this speech so much that you can say it without the teleprompter. It’s not going to be any different just because I’m nominated. If I win, you give me the award and I do a speech. If I don’t win, you give the award to whoever does and they make a speech. I wished I could’ve just let my fear rush from my body, but it was still there. Before I could say anything else, the lights went down and the show officially started.

I tried to just sit and enjoy the show but it was hard when I had my upcoming presenter role looming over me. Of course, it was one of the last awards of the show, so I had to sit there and let my nerves build as the suspense for the winner of the award grew as well.

Every now and then Marshall would give my hand another squeeze and I would calm down for that split second. Having him by my side helped a lot, but every time I remembered that he might be the recipient of the award I became nervous again.

Finally, it was my time to take the stage. They passed me the envelope with the name of the winner and motioned for me to take the stage. I plastered a smile on my face as my name was called and I walked onto the stage. I hoped the cameras couldn’t pick up my shaking, and I really hoped my shaking wouldn’t make my voice sound as bad as I feared it would.

“This award can only go to the best of the best,” I started, glancing at the prompter in front of me to make sure I was saying the words correctly. “The person who worked the hardest and had the best payoff with their release. The competition this year is fierce, and it was hard to narrow it down to just these five artists, as there have been so many amazing works of art released this past year. It has been an even harder choice to pick who of them all is the best, although I might be bias in saying I’ve already chosen my favorite.”

The audience chuckled at my improved addition to the speech.

“Ladies and gentlemen, here are your nominees.”

I watched the video that played of the nominated artists. My heart skipped a beat when Marshall came up, a few clips from the music videos he had filmed playing in a short montage. He had worked so hard on his latest album, every part of me hoped that he would be the winner I was announcing.

As the video came to an end, I turned back to face the audience (and the cameras) to announce the winner.

“And the award goes to...”

I tried not to let my slight fear show as I fumbled with the envelope for a moment. I started to worry that I wouldn’t even be able to open it and completely embarrass myself on live TV. I tried not to sigh with relief when the seal perfectly popped open and I was able to pull the card out. The smile on my face had to have given away the winner before the words were even out of my mouth.

“Eminem!”

The crowd cheered and stood from their seats. A camera found Marshall, who was standing from his seat and hugging Paul and Denaun before making his way to the stage. I couldn’t help but smile proudly at him as I extended the award I was holding - his award - to him.

I was taken by surprise when he wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me in for a kiss. It was brief since he had an award to accept, but it was enough to make my head spin, the way his kisses usually did.

When he pulled away I was still so stunned that I almost forgot to give him his award. I could see him trying to hold back a laugh as he took it from my hands and turned to the microphone.

“Thank you,” he said to the still cheering audience. For a minute I forgot there was anyone else in the room, and realizing so many people had watched that kiss made my cheeks heat up. “I’d like to thank my manager, Paul, who for some reason still backs me with everything I do and produce even when it pushes the boundaries a little too much. I also want to thank the good Doctor, who has been supporting me since day one and who has always believed in me and gave me this platform to make music and to push the boundaries that Paul has to deal with. My daughters, my biggest inspirations. And of course, I’d like to thank the beautiful lady who presented this award to me tonight. I may not show it publicly but I am my happiest when I’m with you and I cannot thank you enough for that.”

I blinked away the tears forming in my eyes as I clapped along with the audience. The music started playing as Marshall offered me his arm to walk me off the stage. I felt like I was floating on cloud nine as we walked down the stairs and backstage, away from the cameras and the thousands of people watching us, both in person and on TV.

We were greeted backstage by other presenters and winners who were still mingling and celebrating their wins. Marshall was congratulated and a few of the other presenters told me how well I did with my presentation. I was proud of myself for getting through it, but I was more proud that I didn’t go completely airheaded after Marshall kissed me.

The answer is basically no one so he doesn't really know what to do everytime he's sad he just kinda sucks it up and deals with it

So don't expect him to know what to do right off the bat all he knows is he definitely doesn't like seeing you like this but he doesn't know what exactly to do so he does what he knows best, violence

He will try and hurt whatever hurt you, yes that includes things that technically can't get hurt like just life in general or school but he has good intentions I promise

After he realizes it's only making you more upset he'll try the second thing he knows how to do

"Hey dumbass I made your favorite food so stop pouting and come eat, and don't say you have I know you haven't"

Your health is so important to him and he wants to make sure your still taking care of yourself and he knows how much you love his cooking so expect him to cook for you when your not feeling like yourself

He will always be down to cuddle with you when you need it and honestly even when you don't need it

He will also brush your hair and braid it or just style it into anything you want he just wants you to feel relaxed with him and would do anything to make you feel better

Do I Bore You? (Zuko x Reader)

Author’s Note: Dante Basco has his own special place in my heart, dude. My childhood crushes on Jake Long and Zuko really set the tone for my taste in men as an adult (like clearly). Also Rufio?? Holy hell, baby Muerta couldn’t stand it. The man is old enough to be my father but I’m still lowkey crushing - he’s the original babe and those feelings do not die, ever.

You find yourself drowsing off, lulled by the peaceful ocean ambience and the gentle hum of Zuko’s voice. He lays a few feet from you, back pressed to the ground with his hands behind his head; you’re close enough that you can feel the way the earth rumbles with the vibrations of his speech. If you’d been alone, you would close the distance between you and him, curl up to his body and let his touch sink you into a warm, depthless sleep - you can only imagine what your friends would say about it if you allowed yourself to do so now. 

Evenings like this had become common since you arrived at Ember Island; the weather was so mild, the nights so clear, and your found family so close, that sleeping alone in your separate rooms was impossible. You were all up late most nights anyway, gathered around a bonfire on the beach or in the house’s massive courtyard, sharing stories and memories as a way to forget the war for a few hours and keep your collective sanity - adding sleeping bags and sleeping under the stars only made the little bit of escapism that much better. The group talked each other to sleep, often times falling asleep mid-sentence; you typically fell asleep to Zuko’s stories, his voice the most calming thing you’d ever heard. It was just another of the many things you loved about him, but were too scared to say to his face. 

The last thing you hear before you lose consciousness is Zuko’s soft chuckle, the breath exhaled from his lungs feeling like it’s being breathed into your own.

“Hey, can I ask you something?” 

The following afternoon, Zuko approaches you during some rare downtime; you’re in one of the house’s many open sunrooms, reading a scroll you found in the library and enjoying the gentle, salt-sweetened breeze off the coast and the way it tousles the curtains hung about the room’s massive windows. 

You nod, putting your reading to the side and patting the space next to you on the floor. Zuko sits, keeping a tiny bit of distance between you and nervously picking at his thumb. 

“Do I bore you?” he blurts. 

You’re stunned, visibly taken aback by the question. 

“No,” you answer, unable to help but smirk at the ridiculousness of the notion. “Why would you think that?” 

“You always fall asleep when I’m talking at night. I just thought that… maybe… I don’t know, what I say is boring to you.” 

You giggle, shaking your head and rolling your eyes at him - his social ineptitude is so damn endearing, and your heart flickers with affection for him.

“Zuko, I fall asleep because your voice is super relaxing to me,” you tell him. “Honestly, even just having you around is… it’s really soothing. You make me feel good. Safe. Even when you showed up out of nowhere and nobody else wanted to trust you, I liked having you around. You just… I guess you just kind of click with me, if that makes any sense at all.” 

Zuko blushes as bright as the crimson of his shirt, looking everywhere but at you and entirely unable to hold your gaze. He clears his throat before he speaks. 

“No one’s ever… said anything like that to me before,” he says. “... It was a compliment, right?” 

You laugh, punching him in the shoulder.

“Yes, dummy,” you tease. “It was a compliment.” 

Zuko chuckles nervously, playfully pushing you in response to the blow to his arm. You fall into a tense but enjoyable silence, in which you can practically hear the thoughts buzzing around in his head as he figures out what to say. 

“I like you a lot too, you know,” he manages, rubbing the back of his neck. “You make me feel… nice, like you said. Like we just… go together… or something.” 

You smile, scooting to the side to eliminate the gap between you, your arms wrapping around his waist and your head falling onto his shoulder. His body seizes for a moment, like he’s too scared to move, but it doesn’t take long for him to ease into your touch, one of his hands lifting to stroke your hair. 

“... Do you think anyone would notice if we went on a date tonight?” he wonders after a brief pause, clearly anxious about proposing the idea. You hum, nestling even closer into his side. 

“They totally would,” you reply. “And they’ll definitely give us hell for going out together, but I kind of wouldn’t want it any other way.” 

Zuko chuckles. 

“Me neither.”

Jamila started podcasting because she recognized how much she enjoyed podcasts, and saw how easy they were to engage with on the go. With that in mind, she went to her audience (Facebook group) and asked what they would like to hear from her if she were to start a podcast of her own. Their positive feedback gave her the fuel to move forward, and she hasn’t looked back since.

This is a great first note to keep in mind – engage your audience as often as you can! The more they feel like part of the process from the beginning, the easier it will be to maintain their engagement long-term. There’s nothing like the feeling of being there at the start of something awesome!

Know What Makes You Different

Jamila notes that one of the most important things you can do to build your brand and grow a successful podcast is to be yourself. Everyone has different life experiences. You never know how the information you share & the way you share it may impact someone. It’s very possible that they may have heard the information before, but because they resonate with your perspective, this time it clicks.

She makes it a point to ask two questions to every “Journeyer” (Journey To Launch community member) that approaches her at events: 1) how did they find her, and 2) why do they like her podcast over others that are out there. This is valuable feedback that helps her to keep track of how effective her marketing is, and also how her podcast is attracting new listeners.

Define Your End Goal And Be Consistent

Define your end goal.

Jamila was very intentional about what she wanted to accomplish with her podcast. She thought about the content she wanted to cover, what would be most helpful for her audience, and the goal that she was trying to achieve for herself (freedom from her 9-5 job). In addition to that, she committed to a consistent upload schedule from the start and hasn’t wavered from it since: new episodes once a week, no excuses! She even planned ahead to make sure she uploaded throughout her pregnancy! Her consistency built a strong enough connection with listeners that Journey To Launch just passed 1 million podcast downloads – that sounds like a vote of confidence to me!

How To Pre-Launch Your Podcast Successfully

Let your audience know about your podcast. Talk about it a lot!

Pre-launch is a very important time in the life of a podcast, and Jamila did some great things to get the momentum building for her launch. Like we mentioned at the start, one thing Jamila did well early on was asking her existing audience for input. Voting on podcast artwork and episode topics gave them a great chance to engage and buy into her vision, even during the development phase.

Another helpful thing she did was talk about the podcast… a lot. People should know three to four weeks in advance that you are working on something for them. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help spreading the word! Keep them in the loop via your blog and social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook groups, etc.). Let them know how things are progressing, ask them to tell their friends and watch the anticipation for your launch to grow!

How To Promote Your Podcast

Once your podcast is live, the next step is promoting it. The more intentional you are about promotion, the more your brand will grow.

Here are some of Jamila’s tips for promoting your new podcast: 

Always be consistent with your uploads 

Nothing fosters repeat listeners like knowing when to expect new episodes. Make sure you have backup episodes ready for any potential interruptions.

Before each episode comes out, Jamila shares a clip from the episode on Instagram & in her Facebook group. It’s an interesting snippet that lets them know what to expect and builds anticipation.

Post about the new episode daily after release 

After releasing the episode, Jamila is not shy to post about it on social media. She knows the information is valuable. The podcast is free, and her page is content-focused, so it’s not overwhelming for her audience at all.

Ask for reviews 

Jamila asks that first-time listeners & new community members take 30 seconds to leave a review wherever they listened. iTunes and other podcast platforms use this as one way to measure the quality of your content, so this is an important request to make.

Weekly newsletter 

Jamila also sends out a short newsletter to her email list every week. It tells them what’s in the new episode and asks them to share it with their family & friends. She also asks them to tag her when they share the episode on social. This gives her another chance to engage and thank them directly for their loyalty and help!

Jamila and I both booked ongoing TV segments through friends we met at conferences. All we looked for was authentic connections, and these awesome opportunities came as a result. You just never know.

Focus on the content, rather than the guest 

Many people only want to book the biggest guests with mainstream audiences. Those are fine and are tantalizing during the early stages, but Jamila now prefers smaller, more tactical guests. Whether mainstream or small scale, Jamila’s advice is to prioritize quality content and knowing your audience. Bring on the guest that you feel gives the most value to your audience and you'll rarely go wrong.

Conclusion

Starting a podcast is one of the best things you can do to grow your brand’s reach. From the start, be yourself, focus on quality content, and commit to consistent uploads!

A/N: Ok so, I had this idea of writing a new fic , I know you all want to kill me because I have to update all my other fics (and I will!), but I just couldn’t let this get away, I know I didn’t put any specific names there so I’m just gonna say it’s all EXO + a bunch of other people, but for now it will be EXO centered, This took me a lot of research and still wasn’t enough to make it realistic but I still hope you all like it <3 thanks for 6.6K!

Summary: You and your best friend were surprised when you got the opportunity to become a trainee and fullfill your long lost dream, little did you know the hardships you’d find not only in adapting to this new life, but also matters of the heart you’d never expect to happen.

"There's no way to escape now, is there?”

“I don't think so, are you nervous?”

"Apparently not as much as you are Y/N."

She laughed and nodded.

You were both nearing your new residency aka a dorm full of trainees in a foreign country for you both.

If anyone said you'd be on this situation a year ago, you'd laugh and tell that person that they are crazy, but then it happened, you and your friend were hanging out when you watched the new video uploaded by SM and surprise; they will hold the global audition where you two live!

You instantly showed Y/F/N and she just showed no reaction,

"You wanna try Y/N?"

"What? No! Not me, it is you who needs to try out! Dumbass"

She looked at you surprised and answered;

"What? Me? Absolutely not, where did you get that idea from?"

"Why not Y/F/N? You are an amazing dancer and you look good, what's the matter with trying?"

"Y/N, I'm not even considered average and what are you talking about? I'm a potato"

You giggled and said "cutest dancing potato ever, now go choose something for your audition"

"Y/N, I'm not doing this"

"Yes, you are"

"No, I'm not"

"Yes, you-"

"Wait, I'll only go if you go with me"

"Of course I'll go with you, duh, I'll wait for you to leave so we can celebrate"

"No you stupid, I meant you'll have to audition too"

"Huh? Me? Are you mad?”

"Y/N, you're as much as a good singer as I'm a dancer, plus you can dance also, and you also act like if anything you have way more chances than I do"

"I don't.... I just do these things as a joke, you know that"

"No you don't , you say it's as a joke because you don't have your parents support but you have told me before that The first thing You'll do when you have your own money is to pay for singing , dancing and acting lessons, this might be a huge shot for you"

It was a little unsettling to hear her say that but it was the truth indeed. Thoughts floated your head as you unsuccessfully thought a way out of this.

"If I audition .... You will also, right? And fully committing, that means you'll have to practice before hand and actually give a fuck about it"

She thought about it for a while but eventually agreed.

What you didn't expect was that you both would be called back and go through 2 more audition stages, till the day you actually signed the 2-year SM contract to become a trainee.

It wasn't easy leaving everything behind , basically learning a whole new language , have enormous arguments with your parents about how we're on our senior year and we should finish school , even if we explained we'd finish school in Korea, it wasn't easily accepted but eventually they couldn't completely hold us since we were 18.

And now here we are, we got to the dorm, a woman dressed like she was ready to go to a meeting greeted us and told us to follow her.

As we got to our room, we found out that we'd be sharing the room with two more trainees, also foreigners, one from China and one from Thailand; they both spoke good English though so communication wouldn't be a problem.

The space on the room was better than expected, even being shared by 4 girls, after greeting the other girls, the woman caught our attention to hear her speak;

"I want to welcome you girls to SM Entertainment, congratulations for entering and I hope you work hard to achieve your objectives , first I'd like to introduce myself, I'm Jenna and I'm a foreigner just like you all are , I was assigned to check up on you guys often so consider me your manager for now , I was actually shown all your auditions and you are all really talented but still lacking in a lot of areas , you all have different strengths and weakness so here it is your personalized schedule"

She got 4 papers and called us by our names;

"Y/F/N”, she called and after your friend got hers she frowned while reading another paper that was given to her "what is this?"

"Oh, it is your special diet, some of you need to lose weight so we design a diet plan for you, make sure to follow it" , Jenna answered with a stern voice.

Your name was called next and you got the 'special diet' as well, what most took your attention though was your schedule:

The diet wasn't as strict as you thought it would be , but you still wondered if you'd be able to handle that schedule when back home you were already exhausted just by going to school, well this is your life now and you'll have to embrace it.

You looked at Y/F/N for a second and she looked just as desperate as you did, meanwhile Jenna continued to speak:

"Well tomorrow I'll be here at 6 to give you your skin and hair products, also direct you to where you'll study and just give the rest of the guidance you'll need" 

She smiled at us and turned around to leave but then she turned to us again "oh, contact your family now, because your phones will be taken starting tomorrow and you'll get them back every Saturday, alright? Rest well, first impressions are really important"

She said as she closed the door and we all looked a little shocked , aside from the Chinese girl , who was acting like this didn't surprised her at all.

"Y/N... how will we survive without our phones all week?" Y/F/N asked you.

"Have you checked the schedule? I don't even think we'll have time to think about phones"

"My parents are going to kill me...” She murmured

"No need to tell me" you agreed.

The Thai girl, whose name was Achara, seemed the most excited out of us four, "do you think we'll practice with boys?”

She asked while smiling.

The Chinese girl, whose name was Ting, rolled her eyes and said "there's no gender separation at practices”,

"Really?!" Achara asked looking really happy about it.

Y/F/N suddenly said it louder than she thought "are you serious that she is here for that?"

Achara looked at her feeling somewhat offended and you nudged Y/F/N's arm, "I'm sure it is not like that, Achara let me guess, you're a kpop fan?"

She nodded excitedly and said "don't get me wrong, I love dancing and singing but kpop is what inspired me on the first place, so I can't help it but get a little excited"

You smiled at her and said "Yeah, I understand, me and Y/F/N were sort of like that also"

Achara smiled wide and asked us

"What's your favorite group?" And just when you were about to answer , Ting said "if you are here because of that , you'll be out in no time , it's really rare that we get to meet any idols at all and even if we do , that's not the focus , is it?"

Y/F/N answered with "it's not but can't we talk a little bit?"

Ting answered while shrugging her shoulders “Well, it’s less competition for me I guess"

You all seemed to dislike her answer but the chat died, you managed to contact your family and explain what's going to be like now, you were met with protests but you still said you think you'd like living a busy life there, so they settled off.

After finishing your call, Ting got up and said "ok so we have to decide the bathroom order"

"You won't call your family?" Achara asked her.

"They wouldn't even care if I didn't contact them for over a year, anyways, the bathroom order, should we do it by age?”

You let out a chuckle and said “I bet you're the older here"

She raised an eyebrow at you and said "fine, how do you wanna decide then?”

"Why don't we play rock, paper, and scissors?" Y/F/N asked, you agreed and the order was Y/F/N-Achara-You-Ting

"Argh, I can't believe this, it's so unfair, you are definitely not prepared to face the Asian respect for the elders rule" Ting whined while the rest of you just ignored.

You were exhausted from the whole travel so you just decided to sleep already because from what you've catch, it's not like you'll get lots of this for the next week.

...

Day 1:

You woke up to Y/F/N literally shaking you; she let out a sigh when you looked at her "ah, finally, how didn't you wake up with the alarm?"

"Sorry, guess I was really tired" you mumbled back to her and suddenly her words kicked in and you sat abruptly on bed "wait, am I late?”

"No, you're not" answered Jenna who was sat on Achara's bed, who you figured was on the bathroom by now,

"Here”, she continued while giving you a small bag with some products inside, "this is all you'll need for skin and hair care"

You opened the bag and there really was a large amount of products with no brand on whatsoever but whatever right? They were giving you all this for free and they really took looks seriously so it wouldn't damage you.

"I'm sorry but how do I know what and how to use it?"

Jenna just gave you a smile and said "it's ok, here, after your morning shower, you scrub your face using this - she picked up a product- afterwards, you have to keep your face moisturized during the day with these creams, I'll bring new ones for you too, and anti-pore strips, also don't forget to put on face mask 2 times a week, it's important, for hair just use these and you'll be fine"

"Oh, okay, thanks"

"You and Y/F/N will go to an international school and here it is all the transportation you need to take after school to get to the building you'll practice"

She handed you two a paper full of info on how to get to the most important places, our school, the dorm and SME building.

We were attending "Korea Kent Foreign School”, thankfully me and Y/F/N were on the same class so we could just help each other in case someone gets lost and stuff like that.

We got to the school bus and basically that was our first contact, no one looked as us weirdly since most of students were foreigners, still no one introduced themselves so we just sat down, Y/F/N looked at me and said

"Finally we can talk"

"Yeah, what's on your mind?"

"Well... pretty much everything right now"

You laughed and agreed, “I know, I'm a little nervous for practice later, to be honest, like what if we just have to get there and already show our skills for everyone? I'll be so embarrassed"

"Well, if that does happen, remember we're all on the same boat, literally"

"Yeah, I know, you think people will hate us for being foreigners?”

"Nah, Jenna was saying earlier that SM is looking for foreigners now, that's the 'new trend', fresh faces she said"

"Well that's good I guess, what did you think of her?”

"I'm still a little hesitant but mostly I think she's willing to help us"

"Yeah, I feel the same way"

The ride to our new school was fast and everyone orderly left the bus , that shook me a little since I was used to people bumping at each other all the time to get places, so it was nice having people organized for a change.

Classes really weren't that different but you could notice that the amount of commitment was, everything was taken very seriously and there were a lot of talks about colleges since the main goal were to put us in one of those.

When Josh from the welcome committee asked you where you planned to apply and you said you didn't know, he really expressed his concern over your future.

The thing is, you didn't know if you could talk about being a trainee or if that's supposed to remain secretive, you supposed you could mention but you'd rather ask Jenna so that you wouldn't mess stuff up already.  

Teachers were different too, not that they were interested in knowing your name or stuff like that, but they would keep a close eye to check if you are taking your notes and absorbing the content well.

You quickly learned that the coordination of the school knew you were a trainee when the principal called you and Y/F/N to talk to you and tell us that there would be days we could finish school earlier to go practice.

At 2:40 PM the bus left so you got back to the dorm so you could face the subway.

Now that was a real experience, people looked at you and Y/F/N like you were absolute aliens aka foreigners to them. You hoped that would get better with time because it was really uncomfortable.

Somehow you managed to find the SM building quicker than you thought and then it was time.... finally your first day as a trainee, all type of thoughts were running through your head while you were going to the reception, you and your friend had to get past some fangirls, who were clearly waiting for the opportunity to see some idol.

“Oh, God, will they be here every day?” Y/F/N asked

“What do you think?” you laughed and got into the building, as you two got in, Jenna came to meet you two , “Oh.. You two got here on time, great”

She turned to you first and said “Y/N, you have to go to the third floor, second room to the left to meet your singing tutor and Y/F/N, you go to the second floor, Third room on your right to meet the choreographer”

A form of panic started to take you “wait, you won’t come with us?”

Jenna laughed and said “why would I come with you? I have a lot to do girls, and so do you two, so go practice! Good luck”

She walked away.

You turned to your friend and murmured “I’m gonna pass out”

“No, you’re not, calm down, you’ll do great, just try to do what they ask right? Also they are supposed to be here to teach us, so it’s just like any other class, I think we have to go now…”

As you got to the third floor and to the designated room, you met a room with about 8 people on it, 4 boys and 4 girls, now with you being the fifth, you were stared for a while and you felt some of the girls looking at you up and down, you decided to ignore and focused on your breathing so you’d try to calm yourself down.

Just in time, a man around his 40’s entered the room and you could feel everyone tensing up, he stood at the center of the room and examined all of us.

“Well, you’re in with me for level  4 singing skills, I’m Hoon , I want you all to line up here, next to me by the piano and I’ll play a note, the person next to me will have to sing it and then move onto the next in line”

At first it wasn’t as bad as you thought and he seemed like calm, collective person, and he was using a low key to everyone, so it wasn’t bad, at least that’s what you thought.

“Alright, this is going nowhere; I’ll have to work with you individually at first, let’s do scales”

Each one of you sang scales, which proved to be hard for you already, coming from a place where you had no technical training whatsoever.

“Now I’ll point to one person and you’ll sing a song of your choice for all of us”, he reached for something beside the piano that we couldn’t see, afterwards he showed us one of those huge film cameras and sat down at the center of the room holding it.

If he wanted to make you nervous, well he did it, you felt sick and you were praying so you wouldn’t be the first one chosen.

Luck was on your side this time, and a guy was chosen before you, as he sang his song, the vocal teacher kept recording him, sometimes standing up to make a full zoom on his face, you heard the singer stuttering a little at the surprise and Hoon asked him to stop.

He pointed at you and you got it that it was your time to sing, all you could think about was your audition song, you knew you had made an awful job, especially since for your turn of the surprise; he picked to make you walk back and forth while singing.

The next girl was jumping, the other guy he started talking to other people, the other he asked us to scream while he was singing, and it just got worse to each one of us.

After the last person sang, the teacher took a long sigh and said “that was awful, alright, I’ll divide you 9 into three trios of 3, the decent, the mediocre and the substandard, the decent will get to pick a song of their choice to work with me every week, individually, the mediocre will get to do that every other week and the substandard…Once a month.”

You had no idea where you were placed but you already didn’t like the idea.

As he started to select people, you weren’t in for ‘the decent’, and so far two people were selected for ‘the mediocre, you just had to accept and try to train the best you could.

“You, last member of the mediocre”, he said pointing at you, you were happy for a few seconds , emphasis on a few, since when you were moving to be next to the other ‘members’, Hoon told you “if I were you, I’d start getting worried over monthly evaluation, in all aspects for you”

Your heart broke but you remembered this was another culture, they were supposed to be like that at first to young people, it still fell pretty hard on you and you barely managed through the rest of singing lessons.

Now you had 2 hours of dancing lessons and in your way to the practice room, one of the girls from your singing class walked beside you and greeted you with a smile, she introduced herself and told me to cheer up because Hoon was famous for being like that at the start with everyone, she also said that they always left some recording studios opened all night for trainees and so , in case I wanted to practice on my own later, I thanked her for the info and we each went our way.

The dancing lesson was somehow of a hardship to everyone but the teacher mocked us and made us laugh for a little bit instead of being strict, he just showed the moves without any music on, and then with music on and we had to try to follow, so everyone kind of got used to it at the end since if you were messing up, everyone had to start over until all of us moved in unison.

It was finally dinner time, your appetite just wasn’t working this time and you didn’t want to talk to anyone, so you decided to grab an apple and head to the recording studio the girl told you about earlier, you just had to get back to where you were in 2 hours to get language lessons, then meet Y/F/N and head out to your dorm.

Turned out the girl was right and you found the recording studio, you didn’t know how to mess with those buttons but you did know that the acoustic inside that booth could make wonders.

Ah, how you wish you had your phone here, you could check your list of songs you wanted to cover and try one now, you tried to remember your list the best as you could, and one song came up.

You started singing, once, twice, five times and you were still not satisfied, you tried to make one of the warm up and breathing exercises your teacher taught you earlier and tried again.

You closed your eyes and enjoyed the deep silence inside the booth before singing.

Since you were immersed into your work and trying to control your breathing so you could reach higher notes, you didn’t notice someone entering the recording studio.

Just as you finished singing the last note of the song, you heard the noise of a microphone being turned on and as you followed where the noise was coming you heard this guy outside the booth saying:

“Wouldn’t it be a waste if no one was recording that?” he said after showing you a smile.

“Also maybe you think you’d be up for a duet?”

You knew that face

The best way to receive an authentic recommendation is to have the employee who worked most closely with the customer personally reach out and ask for a recommendation when they have experienced a ‘reviewable moment’. A reviewable moment is when your company has gone over and above and the customer has expressed how happy they are with your service. 

The majority of people ask what to write in a review. So go the extra mile, take the lead, and give some guidance on how to leave a review that will answer a potential customer’s questions when they are reading your recommendations. Use what we call the “2W Review Strategy.”

How to Ask for Facebook Recommendations in Person

When a customer is in front of you and has experienced excellent service, that’s when to ask for a Facebook recommendation. The number one problem that we have identified with leaving a review for a business is that a customer doesn’t know where to go in order to post a recommendation. So have the customer use their phone so you can quickly walk them through the steps of exactly what to do from start to finish.

And here are some step-by-step instructions on how to recommend a business on Facebook.

For mobile:

Go to the Facebook Page of the business you want to recommend.

Write a Recommendation describing what benefit you’ve received and why you’d recommend us.

Oftentimes when in person, you will be asked what to say in a review. Work with your coworkers to have a few suggestions on hand of what to write as a recommendation. Search for key phrases, services, and/or product details your potential customers are typing in search to find you and work those keywords into a suggested recommendation. 

How to Ask for a Recommendation with SMS

How many emails do you have, sitting there unopened? I’m guessing it’s a fair few.

How many text messages do you have unread? I’m guessing it’s zero.

This is the reason why, at Accelerate marketing agency, we get better than a 50% conversion rate of a person leaving us a recommendation when we ask with a personal text message. For contrast, with email it’s about a 2-3% conversion rate. Yikes!

Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to send a text message to recommend your business on Facebook:

From your Home screen, tap the ‘Messages’ icon.

Tap the ‘Compose Message’ icon.

Enter the phone number in the ‘To’ field. To send a message to an existing contact, type the name, then select the contact.

Enter the message: Hi this is <Name> with <Company Name>. Would you mind leaving a Facebook Recommendation telling us what benefits you received and why you’d recommend us?

With over 80 million businesses listed on Facebook, 1 in 3 consumers use the platform to specifically look for recommendations. But, what we have discovered is that many business owners are uncertain about how to get started and what steps to take to gather recommendations quickly and easily. Business owners come to us (at Accelerate marketing agency), often asking what types of reviews will produce results for their business and how to access their recommendation link. 

Why do Facebook recommendations matter?

Facebook Recommendations provide a simple way for potential customers to find and interact with a local business. In a recent Brightlocal review survey it was discovered that:

82% of people look at online reviews before making a decision to inquire about a business’s services. 

The average person looks at 10 reviews before feeling able to trust a business. 

Responding to a review is just as important. 97% of people will read a business’s response to reviews. 

Over the last two years, Facebook has made Recommendations more important on Pages. People ask their friends for recommendations on where to go, what to eat, and how to shop. Recommendations are like a living, breathing word of mouth beast! 

Did you know that a Facebook Page has the potential of bringing in 50% of new customers? Local communities are built by passionate people who have a common interest to sustain and grow their community. It is in a local business’s best interest to use a Facebook Page as a way to share how they are taking part in building strong, local communities. Recommendations increase awareness of a supportive local business.

How to Ask for Facebook Recommendations

Whichever way you choose to ask for a recommendation, please keep in mind that 7 out of 10 people will say “yes” if you simply ask. The best way to receive an authentic recommendation is to have the employee who worked most closely with the customer personally reach out and ask for a recommendation when they have experienced a ‘reviewable moment’. A reviewable moment is when your company has gone over and above and the customer has expressed how happy they are with your service. 

The majority of people ask what to write in a review. So go the extra mile, take the lead, and give some guidance on how to leave a review that will answer a potential customer’s questions when they are reading your recommendations. Use what we call the “2W Review Strategy.”

Why would you recommend us?

When a 2W Review is left, results are being identified and this is what we refer to as an “actionable review.” When someone reads an actionable review that describes what they are looking for they will take action and call your company. Using this strategy will dramatically increase the quality of your recommendations and therefore drastically increase the inquiries about your services.

How to Ask for Facebook Recommendations in Person

When a customer is in front of you and has experienced excellent service, that’s when to ask for a Facebook recommendation. The number one problem that we have identified with leaving a review for a business is that a customer doesn’t know where to go in order to post a recommendation. So have the customer use their phone so you can quickly walk them through the steps of exactly what to do from start to finish.

Take a look at this sample script:

<Name>, it’s been a pleasure to work with you and solve <describe issue solved>. Will you leave us a Facebook Recommendation so we can continue to share our great service with others? 

And here are some step-by-step instructions on how to recommend a business on Facebook.

For mobile:

How to Ask for a Recommendation with SMS

How many emails do you have, sitting there unopened? I’m guessing it’s a fair few.

How many text messages do you have unread? I’m guessing it’s zero.

This is the reason why, at Accelerate marketing agency, we get better than a 50% conversion rate of a person leaving us a recommendation when we ask with a personal text message. For contrast, with email it’s about a 2-3% conversion rate. Yikes!

Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to send a text message to recommend your business on Facebook:

From your Home screen, tap the ‘Messages’ icon.

Tap the ‘Compose Message’ icon.

Enter the phone number in the ‘To’ field. To send a message to an existing contact, type the name, then select the contact.
