Why Trios Work - Part One

The Training Trio: Kaito, Maki, Shuichi

In Danganronpa: Killing Harmony, Kaito invites Shuichi and Maki to train at night. Though their time together comes with character and relationship development between the three of them.

Relationship & character analysis.

Disclaimers:

Spoilers for the entirety of v3: Killing Harmony.

Content warnings: illness/disease, discussion of blood.

I haven't seen v3 in awhile. I tend to think as I write and I may ramble and repeat things and not make any sense, haha.

1. Kaito has Maki's and Shuichi's best interests at heart.

The loss of Rantaro and Kaede has taken its toll on everyone in the killing game. It starts a sequence of events that leads into a downward spiral of bloodlust and murder.

Kaede's death hits the hardest for Shuichi. It's implied that Shuichi had feelings for Kaede. Even if it was a small crush, Kaito knows that they had a deeper emotional connection. They trusted each other, they were there for each other, etc.

But because Shuichi spent so much time with Kaede, he didn't form hard connections with the other students.

Kaito invites Shuichi to befriend him and help him cope with the loss of Kaede.

Shuichi makes a promise to Kaede that he will end the killing game. Kaito knows that Shuichi can't do this on his own. He knows that someone at least needs to be there to boost Shuichi's morale. By showing that he believes in him, Kaito is being his shoulder to lean on.

(Kaito himself also wants to end the killing game. He doesn't believe that he can do it by himself, or that Shuichi can do it by himself. It isn't just Shuichi fulfilling Kaede's wishes to stop the killing game; Kaito fulfills her wish to have everyone band together. He believes that it takes a team. Teamwork makes a dream work, right?)

Kaito invited Shuichi to help him grow stronger.

They have similar interests at heart.

Kaito invited Shuichi to achieve their goals.

Since this is chapter two we're talking about, there isn't much to say about Maki.

Kaito takes an interest in Maki.

Okay, Kaito isn't very smart, but somehow he's able to see inside her. The rest of the students brush her off, including Kaede, the main protagonist. I don't remember who, but one of the two (I think Shuichi) points out that Maki can't be heartless due to her talent. In chapter two, Shuichi still doesn't have the mindset of the others when it comes to her. He doesn't make an effort like Kaito, but he doesn't think she's some stone-cold bitch with a secret.

Yeah, it isn't much, but Shuichi sees something else in Maki, too. So, Kaito and Shuichi both see something in Maki (mostly Kaito).

Shuichi is surprised to learn Kaito invited Maki, but he's even more surprised when she joins. It's disappointing when she doesn't interact with them like Kaito and Shuichi have been, but as you probably know, this eventually changes.

Like Shuichi, Kaito invites Maki to help her grow stronger.

When I say stronger, I mean in all aspects. Emotionally, physically, mentally. He wants them to become stronger people, wants them to have stronger relationships- Kaito wants them to be strong.

Kaito invites Maki because he wants her to open up.

This is a big recurring theme in chapter two. Going back through this analysis in my head I simplified the reason why, and it makes me kind of sad. There are a few reasons Kaito wants Maki to open up. I'll do my best to emphasize how heartwarming they are.

Going stronger, yadda yadda.

Curiosity. This is far from the main reason, but I respect it. Heavily. I'm a curious person (sometimes) and I always want the fucking answers.

He sees her as a closely-guarded person. This ties into the third reason, so view this as a prequel, haha. Kaito doesn't think isolation will help her at all. I don't remember if he thinks this will make her a target (he probably does, but he's still not the main reason he wants to connect with her), but in general, he thinks isolated people are not happy. In a high-pressure situation, Kaito believes she's burying her emotions deep. He knows that isn't a good thing.

Kaito is genuinely concerned for Maki's well-being.

This hurt me a lot. It's so sweet, and it shows how good of a person Kaito is. As stated, the reason he's concerned about her is because he wants her to be happy. He wants her to be comfortable with herself. Kaito shows this throughout the game- evidence on this later.

Kaito wants Maki to heal.

Again, evidence on this later, but Kaito believes that if Maki lets her guard down and learns to trust others, she can learn to trust and love herself.

2. Dynamic (+Humor).

Their dynamic works beautifully.

Technically, their dynamic is called a "complex bro-ship" LMAO. ("Gym bros" also works, I guess. I hate that term, it's more sexualized than bro-ships.) But they ARE! This post was meant to be ambiguous- you can interpret it as a friendship or a romance. You still can! I just use the term 'friendship' a lot for this point.

Honestly, "bro-ship"s in media makes it seem like they have to be between two guys and there's sexual tension and they're probably fucking on the side, or it's a Disney Love Triangle where it's romantic and you have to choose one (not to mention that your love interests don't like each other), or it's one ship and friend-zoning and jealousy.

The Training Trio not only defies the typical stereotypes, but they go beyond it. It truly is a complex friendship. I fucking love it when relationships make the stereotype complex, but I love it even more when they break it entirely.

This trio also brings some good comedic relief.

And relief in general, but allow me to elaborate on the humor aspect.

When Maki first starts exercising with the group, the boys' reaction is priceless. They're like, 'Woah, where the hell did this come from?' It's hilarious.

Kaito doesn't do the workout with them. It quickly becomes obvious that he set the group up for emotional reasons, but it's still funny to watch. Maki and Shuichi call him out on it and he straight-up makes excuses and picks on Shuichi.

He isn't hurting Shuichi's feelings too bad either, and it gets Maki to laugh.

I adore humor like this if no one is actually getting hurt. Maybe this isn't the perfect example of how this humor works because Shuichi does feel a little put-down, and I don't think he should feel bad at all.

Even so, the way they make me laugh feels way less awkward than most of the other characters do in the cast. Partly because the other jokes used in v3 are rude and sexual, partly because the Training Trio brings a sense of comfort because it feels like a joke between friends.

3. Character Development.

Character development and a closer look to each of their characters.

I'll start with the most obvious one.

Maki

Maki becomes less cold-hearted and more open. She shows kindness to others while not letting them walk all over her. In the past, she kept up a prickly barrier that would poke you if you even touched it.

In the end, she falls for Kaito. She reveals it after the fifth trial when he's about to get executed for murdering Kokichi.

"I've never... fallen for anyone before."

Kaito replies that by learning to love and trust others, she can learn to love and trust herself.

More than vulnerability, allowing herself to care, and showing the two on numerous occasions, Maki allows herself to feel. After Kaito's death, she admits she cried that night. Although she also says she wouldn't allow herself to cry about it anymore.

Shuichi

Honestly, most of his character development can be chalked down to Kaede, but... Nah. I do believe that she was a huge influence, but hear me out.

I believe Kaede pushed Shuichi towards being more confident, but there were still times when he doubted himself. Shuichi is always doubting himself; however, we see Kaito and Maki not only back him up, but sometimes they even go so far as to give words of encouragement.

There were multiple times when Shuichi said he didn't think he could fulfill Kaede's wishes. At some point, he thinks about how he doesn't think he's able to do it without her...

...But he has Maki and Kaito.

Shuichi will never be alone again.

Kaito

This was harder to think about, especially because I didn't really care for Kaito in my v3 phase. I did go back to be able to form an opinion.

Kaito is encouraging, brave.... and full of himself. Maki (and Shuichi) have to put him in his place multiple times. Kaito listens and tries to become a better person while still maintaining his own beliefs. He sticks to what he believes in, which is also his downside.

But that's a character description, not development you're saying?

Yeah. You're right.

Kaito more or less stays the same. Not all the characters are going to develop that much. Especially in v3.

4. Mutual Relationship.

I implied before that their relationship doesn't lean one way or the other, meaning it's extremely mutual.

"But Maki has a crush on Kaito!"

Yeah.

So?

Maki still looks out for Shuichi after Kaito dies. While they're training Maki chooses to talk to Shuichi to get his view on something. She says that Shuichi can give her different viewpoints than Kaito, so she goes to him instead.

You have to understand that Maki and Shuichi went through Kaito's downfall together.

I've already explained how Kaito cares for Shuichi and Maki and how they care for him in return. So, there's no need to elaborate on that, but I will add a point.

Kaito's illness. They're both genuinely horrified. Neither of them wants him to die, and both of them want to do their best to help Kaito recover. He brought them together.

Conclusion

I've never been good at ending things, haha. I really like these three! I believe they were crucial to the plot and they definitely didn't waste our time.

Are you referring to Ella Tsuiseki?

Yeah, that's the one. It's on the tip of my tongue, but I dunno...

Ella Tsuiseki is a former member of Hope's Peak's "Reject Class." She attended the academy as the Ultimate Ghost Hunter. And was a classmate of Uchui Kamukura and Kuripa Kurafto.

From what I understand, she also had an...intimate...relationship with Uchui.

Oh, so she's his girlfriend!?

Ex-girlfriend. Uchui ended their relationship after the death of his uncle. That was the point where he made it his mission to destroy what was left of his family, and didn't want to drag her into it.

He cut all ties with her, since he didn't want her to feel the pain of losing him. But, apparently, Matta Gyalusetsu tracked her down and threatened her safety even then.

So the Future Foundation has called her in to make sure she is in a stable, and safe condition. She was supposed to be here today, but...I reckon she forgot the date.

That's a shame...I hope she's alright, and that Zetsubou didn't get to her.

Zetsubou became too crippled after the factory, and Gyalusetsu was killed. I think she's fine, but...We're just making sure.

-(Yes it's overdone and very cliché'. Yes I've taken one scene from the anime and ran with it. However, I don't care! I'll die on the blushing Spinner hill) Discrimination due to the way his quirk makes him look has been no surprise to hear him open up about back when you first started dating. Whether he admits it or not, he's affected by this when it comes to his own self confidence. Everywhere he goes, all he's ever heard about was his appearance. Lizard was possibly the most annoying thing to hear. Why would anyone be attracted to someone that looked like him when there were normal attractive people out there?

-Along came you. Now at first he was in denial because look at you! To him, you were quite possibly the most attractive person he could've laid his eyes on. What's even crazier is the way you overlooked anyone else in the room just for the chance to talk to him of all people! He was confused and at the end of it he still feels like this might be one big dream. However, he pinches himself and never seems to wake up.

-You compliment him all the time. You always make time to bring up how attractive you think he is. It's mind blowing to say the least. You especially find yourself making note of his muscles to him. The way you look at him when you compliment his arms has him thinking he's going to melt away at any minute. Don't let me get started on the way he softens when you hold him to admire him. He's completely and totally weakened for you. These things aren't said just because you hope he'll see himself as worthy one day, but because you honestly feel this way about him. Just slow it down. Any more attention today and he'll end up passing out from the lightheadedness of your words combined with your sweet butterfly kisses and smile!

-He's only ever really doubted himself once or twice in the past. Other than that, he's convinced himself he's hot shit. Rappa isn't the insecure type a lot of times. He's so sure of himself and that confidence rings throughout whatever he does. You can imagine how much cockier he becomes every single time you compliment him. You can only laugh when you kiss his cheek and call him handsome, he stands and shouts 'hell yeah' so proudly lol.

-When he thinks about it, you've always been there to cheer him on as his biggest fan. You never really missed a chance to remind him how awesome he was, so of course he'd never have a moment to think otherwise. He loves the way you pump his head up. When you compliment him, he feels his heart running a million miles an hour. He values your opinion more highly than you think. If you ever think otherwise then just remember all times he's gotten too rowdy with someone and you were able to wrangle him back down to reality! Without you, he'd probably be locked up by now.

-When he finally has a singular moment of small doubt creeping up then you notice his small change in energy. He's much quieter and thinking for longer than usual. You ask him what's wrong and he looks you directly in the eyes. "You serious? I mean about all that shit you said?" He asks you, searching for any discrepancies in your eyes. You only smile widely back at him before laying a big smooch on the side of his head. You wrap your arms around him and nuzzle yourself into the crook of his neck. "I wouldn't lie about it because I've got nothing to gain from doing so. I meant every single word. You're handsome and those muscles are to die for." He nods and a large smile etches its way across his face. "Haha, yeah I know."

Okay, okay.

So you are so goddamn right for this take, to the point that I'm gonna discuss this on two fronts.

Spoilers for V3 and also Mianite I guess

Though before I go into this. I just want to make something clear for things I will be saying later about V3 will be saying later: V3 is the only one of the main three Danganronpa games where I don't dislike any of the students. I really like the cast as a whole and the worse I feel about any of them is neutral.

Now going into Kaede and Capsize.

They are both trying to take a place in the story that isn't theirs

Kaede begins V3 by literally saying that she is the protagonist of the story. This is a funny little fourth wall break, a nod to the ‘true nature’ of V3, and not fucking true.

The protagonist of V3 is Shuichi. As we the players learn when control switches to him during trial one because Kaede is the blackened of the trial.

And, I think if we were somehow able to watch Mianite from Capsize's POV, I think we'd get a really similar vibe.

Capsize believes herself the person that is meant to save Ianite. She gets to the champions and is confronted by Jordan.

Now Jordan is not Shuichi because (as I'm going to go into later) Shuichi is one of few people who is consistently nice to Kaede and Jordan is not that to Capsize, in fact he's the damn opposite. But he does fit the role of basically taking over her mission and role posthumously and being the one to tell her story.

So like yeah, first part of this take: Capsize got those Kaede vibes because she is essentially the false protagonist of her main mission in life.

Now for my second point where you really got the brainworms going:

Posthumous legacy when the other characters misremember them

Now once again beginning with the obvious character: posthumously Capsize gets remembered as basically Jordan's girlfriend. Her own people are all either dead or disappear from the plot (read every pirate but Capsize in s1), so her story is exclusively told by either Jordan who tells his own not true version of their relationship or characters that never met her like Martha and Mot.

The most obvious way that Kaede is misportrayed post death starts before she actually died and it is the manipulation of Rantaro's death and Kaede's crime by--

AGAIN SERIOUSLY V3 SPOILERS UNDER HERE LIKE STUFF FROM THE LAST CASE AND CONCLUSION OF THE GAME (and let's be honest with how some DR fans don't know what V3 actually stands for I know some of you haven't seen 3-6)

Tsumugi, the Mastermind. Tsumugi is the real killer of Rantaro. And she frames the crime on Kaede and executes her for it.

Now: let me make it very clear. Kaede did fully intend to kill someone. She set up a trap and sprang it with the full intent to kill. However, she failed at this, her shot put ball missing and Tsumugi actually being the one to make the final blow.

Tsumugi takes away all evidence that she committed the murder and that Kaede's plan failed. Kaede is executed, Mugi lives until the end of Chapter Six.

Tsumugi initially taints Kaede's legacy to portray her as a murderer, then later literally tries to start pinning the mastermind role on her as well briefly (by noting that Kaede has a twin, just like Junko, in the final investigation).

But that is kinda par for the course because Mugi is the villain. Like the spends the game manipulating the cast.

But everyone else also kinda remembers Kaede. Because she's kinda portrayed as this guiding light, optimistic Makoto like figure, but basically no one likes Kaede in the first chapter of V3.

Honestly, that might be like a double take of a description, but while Kaede is this upbeat, positive, and optimistic - at least in my eyes one of her main character traits is being heavily bullied.

In her first introduction as the Ultimate Pianist, she says that everyone calls her Piano Freak. Which I think is meant to be a write off joke about how she's that(™) into piano, but it feels like a particularly mean way of putting it.

And then, at two different points in Chapter One, basically the whole cast jump on her and start laying into her. Like the only two I know for sure are never mean to Kaede are Shuichi (who never speaks up to defend her) and Kaito (who no one in the cast respects the opinion of at this point in the story).

(To note, it has been a while since I have played V3 so I cannot for the life of me remember if Tenko and Gonta are ever mean to Kaede. I think they also aren't but I don't want to speed through V3 to check)

There are two quite long scenes of everyone telling Kaede that she is in the wrong. And I mean that Maki literally says that she believes this is Kaede's fault in one of the scenes.

After one of the two scenes, Kaede retreats to her room, cries, and then doesn't know why she's crying. And idk, I know this is inference but it really does read to me that Kaede has been shit on so much throughout her life that she doesn't understand why she's actually upset that everyone is yelling at her.

But suddenly by the end of Chapter One, everyone loves Kaede. They want to stop Kaede from dying.

Unlike Jordan with Capsize, I don't blame Shuichi for the way that he portrays Kaede posthumously. He did really only see the optimistic side of her and she was to him the guiding light that got him to be more optimistic. And frankly he was literally willing to kill himself and fourteen others just to not have to admit that she killed someone (also Claire de Lune still makes me cry and look I just do really love Shuichi's arc), but I do definitely give the side eye to the rest of the cast.

(Genuinely: I really wish that Kokichi's poor Tenko bit towards Himiko had been done about Kaede to the rest of the cast. But I do understand that it was maybe a bit early in the game for that and I wouldn't want to take it away from trial three either)

But to get back to the point, Capsize and Kaede both suffer posthumously from being portrayed as people that they were with relationships that they didn't have.

Had I realised earlier that Capsize has Kaede coding, she honestly might've become the protagonist of my Danganronpa AU. Heck, she might've gotten the Shuichi treatment with Red as a decoy protag. But now I've planned the au with Sonja as a protagonist (though one of my three OC Danganronpa AUs does have Katherine - my OC based on Capsize - as the protagonist with mega Kaede vibes so many I just need to write more of that).

For Shuichi being with you was the best thing in the world, every second spent with you was his own personal heaven. He adored you, he had no clue how he managed to get you to date him, part of him thinks it’s part of some elaborate joke. You made him nervous, he had it ingrained in his brain that no matter how long the two of you were together, you’d still fill his stomach with butterflies. You guys had the day off, you expected him to be busy with Shigaraki playing whatever new rpg came out recently, but to your surprise he walked into your room. “Hey, what do you want for breakfast? Twice is going on a food run.” 

“A bagel maybe?” You weren’t that hungry yet,, but you both knew you’d be hungry by the time Twice got back. 

“Coffee too?” He knew you never went a morning without it.

“Yes, please!” You smiled and he went to relay the message. You turned on your pc and opened up Steam, you wanted to find something to keep you busy for the day. There was a sale on co-op games and you excitedly scrolled through trying to find something that you could get Shuichi to play with you at some point. You knew he’d play anything if you pouted enough, but you wanted to find something that he would actually enjoy. You thought about getting Overcooked, but it looked like it would get old quick, so you settled on It Takes Two. You began the download and walked out to the common room where you heard everyone’s voices. You saw Twice and Toga divvying up all the food and went to stand next to Spinner. You wrapped your arms around one of his and placed your head on his shoulder. Had he been able to blush, his face would’ve been bright red. He was used to you clinging to him, but not in front of everyone. 

“Get a fucking room.” Dabi said as he made his way back to his room to eat his meal. You saw Shuichi’s eyes drop, you didn’t know what to do in the moment. Luckily, Twice handed you two your food, so you didn’t have to do anything but grab it. Usually you would eat with everyone, but you wanted to be solely with your boyfriend. He raised an eyebrow when you walked away from the table, you tilted your head towards your room to signal him. You placed down your coffee and bagel and proceeded to clear off the rest of the desk to make room for Spinner. You put on the newest release of his favorite anime to watch as you ate, a happy little hum came from him. 

“This is really good, how’s your bagel?”

“It’s good! And the coffee isn’t too sweet.”

“I did a good job remembering then?”

“Of course you did.” You smiled at him.

Once you were both done eating and the episode ended, you broke the silence. “You know he’s a douche, right?”

“Huh?”

“Dabi. Don’t let him upset you.” 

He didn’t notice at the time that his face showed it. “I know, but he still bothers me. Why is he like that all the time, doesn’t he get tired of it?”

“The day Dabi stops being a dick is the day I win the lottery.” This reply earned you a laugh from Spinner. “Are you and Shigs going to play anything today or do I actually get my boyfriend to myself?”

“All you have to do is ask. You know I’d rather be in here with you than in his mess of a room.”

“Yeah, but you like those games a lot.”

“Not more than I like you.” You hid your face in your hands to hide your embarrassment caused by his cheesy remark. “Hey, let me see that smile.” You met his gaze and saw a small pout on his lips, it made you laugh. 

“I bought It Takes Two, that’s why I asked.”

“And you want to play it with your favorite person, don’t you?”

“Oh shut up and grab a controller, loser.” You said, lightly shoving his head. He got up to get it and you stood in front of your chair. You motioned for him to sit in it and so he did. You positioned yourself in his lap and booted up the game. He wrapped his arms around you, holding the controller in your lap. “I love you, Shuichi.” 

“Love you too.” You could hear the smile on his face. He was over the moon, you’re all he could ever dream of and there you were in his arms, choosing to spend your must needed day of rest with him of all people. It was a perfect day and neither of you would have it any other way.

Shuichi get to know Kokichi's family and actually meet his parents will answer, like, half of his questions about Kokichi. Maybe he is a well known troublemaker at school, and people tend to questioned how the hell did he get to become a housewarden of Scarabia. Yet Shuichi and all the Scarabia students know how good he actually is at leading their dorm, and Shuichi meeting Riddle and Floyd (maybe even Azul) make him understand a little bit on how come Kokichi turned out to be the person he is today.

I imagine Kaito is from another dorm and he tend to questioned and told Shuichi that he fit better as housewarden.

Gonta as Pomefiore is actually my hc too for my drv3 and twst crossover! It may be seems a bit strange at fist, but he just seems fit to be in it!

ooo yeah, the only people who see him fit as houewarden are the people who actually experiance his leadership skills, diet DICE mentality. i love the idea of no one knowing how a class clown ended up such a good leader, and then Shuichi getting to meet Kokichi's family though Chenya and going "oh- that's how".

i think the fact that they're also going to NRC could add another level of assumptions about Kokichi to this from the teachers. if there's any teachers there who are still working there from the twst cast's time, or if some of the current teachers are some of the twst cast who might not have kids or be in touch with everyone. with this you have characters who hear the rosehearts name, no know the other parent is Floyd, and put expectations on Kokichi based on how they remember Riddle. so to them they expect great leadership and an iron fist, but the clowin' around comes out of left field

also yes! i'm glad you agree with the Gonta placement, he's a gentleman and wants other people to find their inner gentlemen too

One reason why I’ve been doing this is because people on YouTube like Just Kichi haven’t been making compilations of their own, so I decided to make some of my own (mostly because of boredom). Lately, I’ve been getting requests about what ships I should make compilations of, even though I’ve said that I don’t take requests. So for this blog, I’m going to share a list of ships that I wish I could actually make compilations of, but can’t for the following reasons. I’ll also share a list of ships I won’t be making, either because I don’t like that ship or because someone else made their own compilation and I don’t want to compete with them.

First these are ships I wish I could make compilations of. Even if I do make one, I expect the video to be at least over three minutes long.

Celesfumi (Celestia x Hifumi) There’s a lot of hate surrounding Hifumi, so I doubt anyone would want to see something like this. Not to mention it’s a culprit x victim ship, but apart from that, after learning about the beta design for Hifumi’s sister, it got me thinking that maybe Celestia would be a good match for him. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of content of this ship on TikTok.

Sakushiro (Sakura x Kenshiro) Kenshiro is Sakura’s boyfriend, but I’ve never taken the time to search for this since I figured I wouldn’t find the results I’m looking for, so I’m gonna pass on this one.

Asakure (Yasuhiro x Aoi) Just because they have dark skin doesn’t mean they’re meant to be paired together. But seeing that Aoi had Yasuhiro’s baby in the DR1 bad ending would be a better reason this ship could work. But I think Asakure is a real Japanese name, like, when I searched for it, it brought me to some different series, so searching for Yasuhiro x Aoi content might be challenging.

Terusonia (Teruteru x Sonia) Yeah, I know, everyone hates Teruteru and he tried to get Sonia to do sexual things with him. Of course no one would want to see this, or even make a TikTok with the two paired together.

Terupeko (Teruteru x Peko) Again, Teruteru figured out what kind of panties Peko wears, so of course everyone would hate to see these two paired.

Komateru (Nagito x Teruteru) Remember in Despair Arc when Teruteru said that Nagito is in his strike zone? Even though this is a gay Nagito ship that doesn’t involve Hajime, it’s not a popular one.

Mitworai (Imposter x Ryota) Not a lot of content of this ship on TikTok, so I don’t think this will work out.

Komaegi (Makoto x Nagito) Very tempted about this one. I’ve made compilations of Makoto being shipped with my waifus, so I’m not even sure if I would wanna make something like this which is different. Apart from Nagito holding Makoto’s hand in Hope Arc, Komahina supremacy is just annoying and is enough to make me ship Nagito with someone who isn’t Hajime. In fact, the other gay ships involving Nagito, like Komaegi and Soumaeda (Kazuichi x Nagito) are kinda underrated. So if I had to make a Komaegi video, it would be because Nagito should at least be shipped with other males besides Hajime.

Kaimatsu (Kaito x Kaede) I could give this one another chance, but I doubt the person on TikTok will allow me to use his content.

Tojouma (Kokichi x Kirumi) Not a lot of content of this ship on TikTok. Most of the content involving Kokichi and Kirumi paired is more of a reference to how characters like Kokichi only treat Kirumi as if she was their mother, and canonically, Kirumi hates being called mom.

Sairumi (Shuichi x Kirumi) I like shipping Shuichi with my waifus, but this probably won’t work for two reasons. One, there’s not a lot of content about this pair. And Two, the fandom ruined Shuichi by calling him emo. Not to get off topic, but I forgot to include this in my other blogs. I’ve read that there are people in the punk and metal subcultures who hate the emo scene and stereotype. That whole stereotype about dressing in all-black, having an eye-covered bang, expressing negative emotions or suicidal thoughts, and wearing heavy makeup to resemble glam rock. True emo is nothing like that, and yet everyone made a mockery of it and weaponized it so that they could convince people that that's what emo is all about, but it’s not.

Saimugi (Shuichi x Tsumugi) Saimeno (Shuichi x Himiko) Sainaga (Shuichi x Angie) and Saigiri (Shuichi x Kyoko) Again, making compilations involving Shuichi ships would be a pain in the butt for me, because like I said, the fandom ruined Shuichi, but that’s just my opinion. Out of these four, Anige isn’t one of my waifus, but the fact that her last FTE involves her convincing Shuichi to marry her is one reason a ship like that could work out.

Kirugoku (Gonta x Kirumi) No, it’s not because they were the culprits. Gonta likes arthropods, not just insects, but also arachnids like spiders. You know, like the cobwebs Kirumi has. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a lot of content about this pair on TikTok.

Ryoma x Maki - Not only does this ship not have a name, but it’s super underrated. Like, no one on TikTok pairs these two together, and I’m probably the one who invented this ship (or not).

Matsushima (Yasuke x Junko) While there is some content of this ship, I can’t tell if they are shipping TikToks, so I don’t think I’ll be making a video for this one. Not to mention that I’ve never read Danganronpa Zero.

Syonia (Sonia x Genocide Jack) A very small amount of content of this ship I found, but no one would probably find this to be interesting.

Leon x Kanon - Couldn’t find anything good for this one, and it does contain incest, so I don’t think this will work out.

Tokofumi (Toko x Hifumi) In the spinoffs, Toko does try to open up to the stuff Hifumi likes to write. But again, the fandom hates Hifumi and there’s not much content of these two paired together.

Gokumeno (Gonta x Himiko) Not a lot of content of this ship on TikTok.

Ships That I Won’t Do

Next, I’m going to explain a list of ships that I probably won’t be making compilations of. I apologize if one of these is your favorite ship.

Tojoshi (Ryoma x Kirumi) I can only see this as a culprit x victim ship. In a blog that I wrote, I said that I kinda understand this ship better if you imagine Kirumi in Shuichi’s place during Ryoma’s Love Suite Event. But I just think there’s plenty of other characters you can ship Ryoma and Kirumi with.

Shinnaga (Korekiyo x Angie) Again, it’s another culprit x victim ship. Let me just say that these are the only culprit x victim ships I actually do like. Leosaya (Leon x Sayaka) Chimondo (Chihiro x Mondo) a little bit of Band Aid (Ibuki x Mikan) and I guess Amamatsu (Rantaro x Kaede). I just can’t picture Angie being a good match for Korekiyo, sorry.

Gokuiru (Gonta x Miu) Apart from Gonta killing Miu, the scene where Miu strips naked to scare off Gonta would be a better reason to ship them, but I don’t think this one will work out.

Junkan (Junko x Mikan) Highly controversial ship. I’ll probably be hated if I ever make such a video.

Despair Sisters (Junko & Mukuro) Not sure about this one. It’s not to be confused with Junkuro which is incest, and most TikToks where Junko and Mukuro are paired is more like a sisterly relationship, not romantic.

Monocest (Monotaro x Monophanie) Such a video would’ve been a joke, but again, it’s another incest ship, so I’ll have to avoid it.

Shingujicest (Korekiyo x Korekiyo’s sister) While there are TikToks with Korekiyo’s sister, they probably don’t involve shipping these two.

Chiakiro (Chiaki x Chihiro) I’m more into the headcanon that Chihiro and Chiaki are relatives, and I don’t see a lot of people on TikTok shipping these two.

Monisa (Nagisa x Monaca) They’re underage, so of course I won’t be making such a video.

Kirumaki (Kirumi x Maki) I don’t want to picture Kirumi doing the dark stuff Maki does.

Sonibuki (Sonia x Ibuki) I’d rather not see Sonia be enthusiastic about Ibuki’s music.

Sairuma (Shuichi x Miu) Miu is among my least favorite characters, and again, the fandom ruined Shuichi.

Goshi (Gonta x Ryoma) Aside from high differences, I just can’t picture Gonta being a good match for Ryoma.

Gontaguuji (Gonta x Korekiyo) It's not because they were the culprits, I just can't picture Korekiyo being a good match for Gonta.

Ships People Have Requested

As I said, I don’t normally take requests, but I’ll include my opinion about the types of ships people requested, which is only these three.

Ounaga (Kokichi x Angie) While this one is tempting, it’s not exactly one of Kokichi’s most popular ships. And somehow, I’m having trouble seeing Angie as a good match for Kokichi.

Celeskuro (Celestia x Mukuro) Again, another tempting one, but this one has a small amount of content compared to Ounaga. I couldn’t even find an article for this on the shipping wiki. And you know how Celesgiri (Celestia x Kyoko) is popular even though they only had a few interactions? This ship, along with other Celestia and Mukuro ships, probably wouldn’t be any different, so while making a video would be tempting to make it fair with Celesgiri, I’m not even sure if I would wanna make such a video.

Gonta x Keebo - Never heard of this ship, couldn’t find anything about this ship on TikTok, or a name for it on the shipping wiki, and I don’t see Gonta as a good match for Keebo.

Ships I Would Make, But Others Have Made First

This is a list of ships that already have compilations on YouTube by someone else. They mainly include some of the more popular and familiar ships. I’ve seen some compilations by Just Kichi that I admit I wasn’t fond of even though I love the ship. But if I made my own compilation for that ship, it would be like I’m competing with them and I don’t want to be doing that. It’s like this, everyone on TikTok uses the same songs over and over again, and the unfortunate part is that there aren’t a lot of TikToks with my taste in music, and I find it a little bothersome. Like, everyone on TikTok plays music that’s pop, hip-hop, dance, techno, indie, and emo. You may have noticed that my compilations don’t have a TikTok where you have to take a look at someone’s girlfriend. I'm sorry, but I just don’t like that song.

Anyway, these are ships Just Kichi made compilations of that I wasn’t very fond of.

Saimatsu (Shuichi x Kaede) Not only did the fandom ruin Shuichi, but if I tried searching for this ship on TikTok, I would have to deal with Saiouma fans flaming this ship which I won’t enjoy.

Sondam (Gundham x Sonia)

Hinanami (Hajime x Chiaki) I would make one of my own, but then I’d have to deal with hate from Komahina fans. Not to mention, I’d be a little anxious with what kinds of games people would have Chiaki play and I don’t want it to be any kind of game I’m not into.

Yonameno (Angie x Himiko) I tried making this one of my own, but most TikToks where Angie and Himiko are paired also include Tenko, making this a trio. After reading this blog, I think just Angie and Himiko, without Tenko, would be better. I was able to make a compilation of my own.

And these are ships Just Kichi does have compilations of that I actually chose to make my own.

Shuichi, Kokichi and Nagito’s crush likes napping on his lap during breaks

Shuichi Saihara:

·       Ah yes, the Super High School Level Astronomer, it was no wonder Kaito would be friends with such a person, and whoever Kaito was friends with, all his other friends would be friends with them as well, that was how Shuichi had met you. Often in those nightly training sessions, for a break Kaito, Shuichi, Maki and whoever else felt like joining them that evening would jog around till finding you, telescope by your side. You’d speak of the stars, of legends that surrounded them, of how travelers of old navigated the world through them, how stars were born, what there different colors meant, and so much more. Folklore, history, science, didn’t matter, you knew and continued to learn about each and any possible aspect you could about those specks of light. However, you were rather quiet outside of those moments, though you weren’t closed off. It was more so, if you weren’t speaking of stars you’d just so intently listen to others.

·       … Maybe that’s how or why it happened? More often than not, when at school you were rather drowsy. You were often out, camping in the mountains away from the harsh city lights so when you were at school it was nice. When you were around, Shuichi made sure to spend time with you. You were able to speak so much without words, it was fun trying to interpret your expressions. Truthfully Shuichi didn’t think much of it at first, it was just how you were, quiet, yet outgoing, bubbly even. Others however had a more difficult time understanding you, somehow they didn’t notice the many little nuances that made up you, your slightest shift of expression or tilt of the head, your body language, how you spoke more so with your eyes, engaging in the conversations in your own way. How others couldn’t Shuichi had no idea at first, you were captivating, how could they NOT notice!?

·       At first he had thought it was simply him being a detective, often having to interpret and read people through his work with his Uncle, but… that was not quite it, there was more to this. I didn’t come naturally, he WANTED to understand you. He found himself drawn to you, your gravity too powerful for him to even consider resisting. And it seemed the same could be said for you too. Whenever break rolled around, no matter how short it may be, you’d always seek him out. Due to more often than not being awake through the night you’d nap, but Shuichi didn’t mind, not even when you used his shoulder or lap as a pillow. He’d read his novels aloud to you, or if he was working through a case, walk through his logic aloud, he’d just speak even if you were asleep, something in him just knew you were still taking this all in.

·       Even if he was somehow one of the few people who understood you, he wondered how you had even seen him yet. You were like a supernova in his eyes, so bright, so stunning, so colorful, leaving only beauty and wonder in your wake, how did you notice him? By chance did your heart race too at the thought of spending more time together? Did you also find a soft, comforting, warmth in his presence as he did you? Did you adore hearing him speak just as he did you? Whatever the case may be for you, he sure hopped it was something similar because he simply wished to your beloved stars above that you felt even half as amazing as he did with you, he just wanted you to know of such a fantastic emotion, it, no… you were astonishing and he simply wished to share and indulge in it with you.

   Kokichi Oma:

·       “Y/N!” “Hu-AH” You groaned, shakily pushing yourself off the ground. Then you noticed all your items had slipped out of your bookbag. You sighed, seeing all your papers had fallen out of your folders as well. “Geez, Y/N, I didn’t know you were so clumsy!” “Ah, just tired today I guess.” You noticed how Kokichi kept taking glances to you as he helped gather your items. Not surprising considering you literally just tumbled down a flight of stairs. Before you knew it all your supplied had already been collected and placed back in your bag. That was really quick. You winced as you stood up. Your knees almost collapsed under you and Kokichi was in the position to catch you should you have fallen but thankfully you were able to do so yourself. “Hey, hey! Where are you going?” “Oh, uh… umm.” You thought and thought but couldn’t remember. It was so hard, you felt like your mind was swimming and swirling, all thoughts fuzzy and difficult to reach.

·       Then suddenly you were being dragged along by the hand. “What the-” “You are coming with me! This’ll be fun! Especially if you have nothing better to do!” You were completely confused but more so shocked from the whole situation so you couldn’t really bring yourself to try to stop or ask where you were even going.

·       Koichi just kept running around, getting you completely lost. Eventually though he let go, dashing a few paces forward before tumbling and falling. “O-Oma!?” He simply laughed, sitting up. He hummed as the wind rolled past swaying his hair as he looked up to the sky. “Oh, Y/N, Y/N! Look at that!” You were confused looking up to the sky where he was pointing. “Ugh, you can’t see it from there, sit down already!” Taking your arm, he playfully tugged on it, but even that was enough to send you falling. Even with you sprawled across his lap, he managed to scooch over enough so just your head was there. “Perfect! Now, that cloud looks like Gonta; giant, kinda dumb, soft. And that one-” You were… quite puzzled. Clouds? Of all things? That was what he wanted to show you? You heard Kokichi speaking, but it was all noise to you, it held no meaning. You just listened as he droned on and pointed, the shadow of his outstretched arm conveniently covering your eyes.

·       You never really noticed how nice and soft Kokichi’s voice could be. Then again, he was always so loud or quiet, constantly shifting tone you never got the chance to just hear it… It was… rather pleasant. You wanted to hear him longer, engage in whatever game he was playing but so quickly your eyes drooped and all our senses simply lulled to nothing.

·       Then it was evening. At first the sight of those orange and purple hues confused you, but then- “Y/N, you’re alive! It’s been twenty years and Miu’s army of robots have taken over! We need you to join the resistance!” He couldn’t help but laugh at your absolutely baffled expression. “But that’s a lie.” “… oh yeah… Wait…” You suddenly completely awakened, abruptly sitting up. “It’s evening already!? Did we skip class!?” “It’s whateves, Y/N. Hope’s Peak doesn’t care if we skip class.” “No, not that!” You sighed, burrowing your face into your hands and mumbled to yourself. “I didn’t take the new meds again. Of course, I didn’t.” Huh, new medicine was it. Kokichi smirked, dragging you up onto your feet. “C’mon! You’ll make us late for dinner!”

·       The next several weeks were like that. No matter what you did you’d always end up napping on Kokichi’s lap at some point. This was much needed. Your therapist had been fired so you had to start all over with someone new, who wanted to give you new medicine meaning new side affects that could only be worked around via time management. It was a process trying to work out what amount you needed and what not. Napping with Kokichi was just about the only solace you had gotten in the chaos. When you had found a good balance of medication no longer were you exhausted in the day or losing sleep at night. It was great though, admittedly you missed it.

·       It had been about a week or so since your medication seemed to stable out and all was well with you once more. The bells for break had tolled and you left class. Break wasn’t long, but you didn’t care. Hearing shrieks and screams of terror and that ‘Nishishi” you knew you were close. Seeing Kokichi make his escape you simply went to one of the benches outside. And there you waited.

·       You still waited even after the bells signaling the end of break had tolled. “Oh? Y/N actually skipping class!? What has this world come too!? Soon the sky will be falling!” Seeing he wasn’t lying per say and just exaggerating you decided to answer. “I haven’t taken my nap yet.” You took his hand, pulling him onto the bench and you placed your head atop his lap. Though you weren’t not tired, a mid-day nap in the sun just felt so nice.

·       Thankfully for Kokichi, you were asleep so you couldn’t see his giddy smile. Though with this seemingly becoming the new norm you’d likely catch him one of these days. For now he’d just indulge in this moment with you, his crush and worry about that when it happens.

   Nagito Komaeda:

·       Though you were an Ultimate, an amazing person who could take care of themself just fine, Nagito worried about you. You slept, a lot. No matter when or where you could find a place to nap should you want too. It wasn’t all the time though, Nagito still had many conversations with you and had gotten to see your talent firsthand, an extraordinary sight! When you were awake, you’d spend much of your time with him, often over analyzing him trying to see if there was a scientific cause for the outlandish phenomena that was his luck. Not surprising since you were a scientist. At times Nagito wondered if your mind worked so hard when you were awake, trying to solve every last mystery the world had to offer, that drove you to exhaustion so quickly. That would explain how you could be so excitedly chatting away about one theory of yours or another only for you to suddenly fall over, knocked out. Thankfully it seemed Nagito’s luck would kick in moments like that so he could catch you before your face smashed into the ground.

·       Always following you around, trying to keep your drowsy tendency from getting you into danger, from just always being beside he had become your assistant of sorts. Though he would never dare to insist on it, he always sneakily became the one to carry your stuff around in the end, even if you had started your journey with them. Taking you by your shoulders he’d steer you away from bumping into other people or objects. He would take your hand, but he felt unworthy of such an honor unless you decided he could and he knew if he did a bright scarlet would erupt on his cheeks and his heart would pick up in pace, things you surely would notice with your keen eye. When you were awake, nothing could get past you, so Nagito would have to be extra careful. He couldn’t let you figure out his feelings. He simply didn’t have it in him to confess and he was garbage, surely you wouldn’t reciprocate his feelings, but if you did somehow, it’s not like he would deny you, someone like him had no right to deny an Ultimate, or so he thought at least.

·       Although… Nagito couldn’t help his feelings seeping out, no matter how much he had tried to keep them inside. Often, he was just talking and suddenly he’d be complimenting you and about to say he loved you and he’d have to cut himself off by causing an ‘accident’ like tripping over chairs or abruptly changing his words to say something else. He was always left a flustered mess.

·       It was just another day when Nagito strolled into your lab, finding your workspace was filled with many documents, many taped to white boards with string attacked to each and every last one, some string simply linking two pages on the same board, others stretching across the room, forcing one to duck, and twist to avoid them all, one could compare it to avoiding the lights in the laser filled room in some generic spy flic. “Hmm, but how to go about testing this?” “Testing what?” “Oh, Komaeda! Perfect timing!” You strolled over to him, looking through some file, seemingly not paying attention to your surroundings yet still avoiding all that strings. “Today I’m studying human communication!” “Uh huh.” “And I wish to test something!” You looked to him with those stunningly bright eyes as you explained, completely captivating him. “The power of words. I wish to see if they are like water in a pipe. For comparison, imagine a person as the pipe and the words water. I wonder if say a person is upset, if speaking to another person was the only way to alleviate the pressure of those emotions, or if just speaking aloud, even to no one, if that’d alleviate the pressure as well, OR if something else would happen. Yes, each individual is different, but there could still be a majority! You tried holding up the little book to him and when he took it your hand and arm went limp, you already fast asleep. Nagito couldn’t help but smile, seeing you already so restful. As usually he looked through your notebook, seeing what he needed to prepare in order to set up your tests. Curiously he also looked over your notes, wondering how your interest in astrology the day prior lead to this through your connective thinking. It was always fun seeing how you could draw connections between seemingly completely unrelated topics, then again that was likely how you were such a good scientist. As he continued to read, fascinated by your research he began to wonder something. Looking to you his heart melted. “I love you.” Immediately his heart raced, and he felt that heat raising to his cheeks. What if a person were to vent to another, even if they weren’t paying attention? Perhaps because he still had told you, he still would have gotten this off his chest and he’d stop almost confessing to you so often.

·       That was how Nagito had begun to whisper his affections to you as you slept. It was a thrill like no other, fearing you’d awake right as he confessed his feelings, yet also endlessly excited by the thought as well. There was more than a fair share of times where he was almost caught, but it seemed you were none the wiser to his words of love.

No tangents.” You took a deep breath trying to reorganize your thoughts. “It… can be scary, one moment being awake then suddenly asleep. Before you I’d often sleep on the train and go way past my stop and get lost. There have also been a number of near-death experiences like when I fell asleep when walking across the street. I… it’s nice, knowing you’re around. To keep me safe and keep an eye on me. And I guess waking up to hearing your voice, waking up knowing for a fact I was safe… I don’t know, it was just nice, and I want you to know, I truly do appreciate you putting up with me.”

Well, if you liked hearing his voice when you woke up… maybe… maybe next time he wouldn’t stop speaking of his love for you, even as you awoke. You took a deep breath before leaving your dorm, mentally preparing yourself for the walk of shame to the dining room where you had to… you didn’t even want to say it, nor acknowledge it. The bet you had lost the day before with Kokichi, had left you with nothing but bitterness in the end. Your eyebrows were permanently creased, an expression of pure regret on your face as you shuffled unenthusiastically down the hall in your frilly maid’s outfit. 

Shuichi greeted you as soon as he noticed the dress, a concerned, confused and albeit a bit flustered expression on his face as he did. “H-hey S/o! Um, so are you going to the dining hall?” He asked an obvious question, just so he could somehow get you to talk about your huge dress. Only nodding shamefully, you stifled a sigh. 

Shuichi only made a noise of acknowledgement, letting the conversation go stale as he was too afraid to address the elephant in the room, himself. You were both silent, Saihara standing in front of you, awkwardly planted on his spot while he looked at everything but you. 

He didn’t say anything, only occasionally sparing glances at your dress as he stood like a tree. Getting irked from the silence, you deadpanned, “... You want to know why I’m wearing a maid’s dress.” He flushed at even the mention of the word, as if you had said something terrible.

“Y-you don’t have to te-” Disrupting his excuse, you looked him dead in the eye, and uttered one word, “Kokichi.” Shuichi blinked at the name, before nodding in pity. After your short response, he required no further questions, the single name was all it took for the realization to wash over him. Even if he wasn’t a detective, it wouldn’t take less than a second to know what was going on. 

As if the said-Kokichi had been waiting for you to say that, Kokichi suddenly popped out of nowhere, scaring the two of you at his sudden appearance, “Oh? What’s my maid doing with Saihara-chan? Not wasting time I hope~” He laughed sadistically at your suffering, “Chop chop my maid! Since I’m your master, you’re gonna have to follow my every order! So don’t even try to disobey me; cuz I’m sure maid-chan knows what happens when she does, right? Nishishi!” You cringed at the nickname, ere sighing in defeat and letting him drag you to the dining room where you’d soon meet your demise.

You looked back at Shuichi one last time, mouthing a, ‘Help me.’ as Kokichi dragged you away. Shuichi only sent back a sheepish and apologetic look, in which you glared at him, betrayal overtaking you.

A couple of minutes later of countless teasing and judgemental looks sent your way, you were finally at the dreaded destination. To your surprise, Kokichi eagerly kicked the door to the dining room open before you could even prepare yourself, the entire class turning around at the loud noise. Kaito was first to speak up about the dramatic entrance, ‘Kokichi!? What the actual F-! … f-ffffffffffuuhh..” Kaito trailed off, his attention shifting off Kokichi, to focusing on you in a maid’s dress. 

Despite wanting you to feel the pure unfiltered humiliation, the sadistic bastard definitely did not love the way Kaito was eyeing you. Smile faltering for a second, he considered dragging you to his own room and having you perform a private show for him instead of these assholes. Shaking his head, he tried dispersing the thoughts of… jealousy? No, that can’t be it. 

He decided he’d delay his feelings of conflict for later, and unfortunately for you, focusing back on your nervous figure. Peaking at the look on your face, he couldn’t help the twinge of worry for your well-being. 

Noticing him stare at you with a small concern, you furrowed your brows in suspicion, that wasn’t really like him. Only then, did you notice the desperation on his face. He looked like he was choosing to either say, “Are you okay?” or “Pleaaaase!” He watched you, eyes wide with worry yet looking as if he had been begging you. Choosing your fate, you sent him a reassuring, but solemn nod, deciding to do the act he had been looking forward to for the entirety of yesterday; the day you lost that damned bet. 

You sighed defeatedly at his pouty expression, you were weak for him and he knew it.

“Alright.” He looked up at you with expecting eyes, holding back a shit-eating grin, “Alright what..?” You sighed for the 2nd time within the span of 45 seconds, “Ugh... Master.” The single word uttered out from your pretty lips had his entire body shuddering, fighting back the blush on his face, he leaned his back towards you teasingly, his ego had been very clearly stroked, “That’s right. I’m your master; so come on and get to it! Don’t make your master wait~” He added, clearly enjoying your misery. You pouted, where did the worried Kokichi go?

Turning to face the crowd that seemed to be staring at you while you flirted talked normally with Kokichi, you felt your frills shuffle with each movement you made. You closed your eyes in preparation, making a mental note never to make a bet with Kokichi, ever. “Do I have to get on my knees?” He smiled cheerfully, “It’s part of the deal~” ‘Nishishi’ing as dread washed over your face.

Everyone watched in anticipation, some with concern, but mostly the former— as you got on your knees, the skirt neatly pleating on the ground. 

Disgruntled, you uttered out a small, “If you tickle me, I will… I- “ You looked back at Kokichi, a look of, ‘Do I have to do this?’ contorting on your face as you stared at him pleadingly, dying inside when he nodded frantically like a child at a candy store.

“... S-say hee hee and prance around like a rainbow lollipop on a cloud of unicorn wishes.“ You flinched , the entire class had suddenly started howling and rushing towards you—most likely to tickle you—, but right before a giddy Angie and a determined Tenko could get their hands on you, Kokichi suddenly spoke up, stopping them in their tracks. “Hey! She’s not allowed to be touched by mutts like you, so get back!” He brutally spat, voice scratching from the force of his words. 

Kaito immediately took the opportunity to ask you out as Kokichi’s occupied with the others, not hesitating for a second. Tapping on your shoulder, a shy smile adorning Kaito’s face as he awkwardly shuffled, “Hey S/o..! Do you maybe wanna, um..” Kokichi swiftly popped out from underneath your skirt as if this was a routinely thing, standing in between you and Kaito. “What the hell-” Kaito recoiled back in shock, had he just been hiding under there?? Kokichi looked at you, before looking back at him. 

You were sure if looks could kill, Kaito would’ve been dead a year ago. “Hey. You know she’s mine, yeah?” Kokichi spoke with a dead-cold look on his face, before almost immediately contorting back into his usual mischievous smile, “... My personal maid, of course! Nishishi!” Kaito stared Kokichi down, in which Kokichi simply glared back in amusement, the same smile staying onto his face. Irking, Kaito discontentedly walked away, shortly after Kokichi had won the stare-down. 

Exhaling loudly, his smile fell off his face as well as the breath he kept in, a neutral expression replacing his grin as he stared back at you, “You know, this whole thing is getting kinda boring, let’s just leave.” He tried putting on his signature charming grin, but you could see the way his teeth clenched. It seemed Kaito asking you out had a bigger effect on him than he wanted to admit. 

Despite teasing and asking him if he was worried and/or jealous on the way to a secluded area, he persists, staying stubborn and brushing it off. “It just wasn’t as fun as I thought! Now stop nagging me and hurry uuuuup! You’re such a slowpoke.” Perking up, he suddenly remembered something, “Oh wait! That’s an order, right? So you have to obey.” Rolling your eyes, you jolted as an idea suddenly found its way to your head. 

Flashing a mischievous smirk in his direction, you left him bewildered as you started sprinting across the field. “Wh- Hey! Haha, what the fuck!?” He cackled at how stupid you looked, throwing your heels across the field somewhere as you stumbled from the length of the dress, still running to god knows where. 

His laughing suddenly halted as he witnessed the way you took a large leap and stepped on your dress, tumbling down as you did.“Stooop! You’re gonna actually hurt yourself, seriousl-! …” Kokichi suddenly fell silent as you fell on your face, only sounds of him choking back holding back his own loud laughter. But the boy could only hold back for so long, and as you raised your head from the field, you could hear him just fucking losing it. 

Turning around and glaring directly at him, you stumbled back to your feet, jogging towards one of your lost heels before hurling it directly at Kokichi’s stomach. “Take that you little shit!” Now you were the one laughing at his misery. In the end the heel didn’t do what you wanted it to, as he just kept on laughing, only now wheezing from the hilarity of the situation and for the air you knocked out of him. 

Hearing his crazy horse laughter fill the air, you couldn’t help but laugh just as loud, along with him. You jogged up to his hysterical figure, falling down next to him, your own giggles mingling in with his. He turned his head to you, pointing at your face weakly, before throwing his head back and laughing even louder. 

Eventually, the laughter calmed, both of you just bathing in the afterglow of the extreme euphoria you both had felt. Kokichi turned his head again, staring at you in thought. Noticing his eyes, you took your eyes off the sky, catching his seemingly whipped gaze, “What?” 

He smiled, “Even though you look like a maid who had just went through hell to try and escape her traumatizing slave prison life, you still look cute.” Admitting with no hesitation and way too many details, he watched in amusement as your face flushed. “And borderline sexy too. I am loving the sexy prisoner look.” He added, catching you off guard as you flushed even harder. 

He sighed lovingly, “You know, I’d gladly pay you to stay in that dress... And I’m not lying.” You scoffed and looked at him in disbelief, Kokichi frowning back, “Hey! Don’t look at me like that! You know damn well, you look hot in those tights.” He drifted his eyes lower and lower, tilting his head to get a better view- before you suddenly chopped him. 

Wincing from the hit, he started bawling, “Uwah! How meeeaan! And to do that to your master too! How could you!?” Here come the waterworks. You only grimaced, right before decreasing your face in defeat, deciding to play along, “Fine. I’m sorry then,” Sighing, “Master.” You groaned out, clearly unhappy with the title Kokichi had forced on himself. Kokichi went light-headed as soon as he heard that word come out your lips, smiling like a goof, he only gawked at you. 

Shooting your head back to him, you were concerned as to why he was suddenly quiet. Was there something wrong with him? Did he pass out? “Master?” You called him by his title, shaking his tiny figure. The expression on his face showed pure bliss, “Just kiss me already.” 

He snapped out of it for a second, eyes darting to yours. You glared at him, in which he simply glared back, a challenging smirk on his face, differing greatly from his expression from earlier, “That’s an order~” 

Blinking at the statement, you gave in to your demise, slowly leaning down to kiss his forehead lightly, a flush on your face. Pressing your lips lightly against his skin, you pulled away shortly, lingering no longer than you had to. However short it was, that alone seemed to do it for him, as you swore you saw hearts shoot out from the spot in which you pecked. 

Giggling strangely, he rested on the field, completely surrendering his body to the earth as he went limp. “Nishi… My maid loooves me!” You stayed silent at the bold remark, wanting to refute but you knew he’d just figure out your lies. 

... Even so, you refused to admit it, “You fucking wish.” Snorting, you pushed his face away from you gently, cackling as you heard his whining.

Kokichi stayed silent staring at your face with an obvious guilt expression with him. The other students were also silent, they didn’t bother to cut in the conversation.

The other students didn’t also expect (y/n) a cheery person to be in front of them with a gloomy expression.

“ I love you Kokichi...you know that but...if your gonna take my happiness away and won’t let me do what I want then...let’s just finish this even if I can’t. ” (y/n) muttered leaving the dining hall, slamming the door.

Kokichi was surprised by your last comment that made his breathing hitched. He can’t live without you. He loves you with all his heart...what did he do wrong?

“ You should fix that up, Kokichi…” Kaede said.

“ Yeah you need to...she loves you too much. Saying that hurts her...I could even hear it in her voice. ” Kirumi agreed.

“ Did you know (y/n) loves to talk about you when he/she’s with me…? ” Miu asked.

“ I also remembered (y/n) forcing me to be friends with you. ” Shuichi said to Kokichi. Kokichi swallowed his own saliva including his pride and lies.

“ R-Really? Do you think...I could fix this? ” Kokichi questioned in a quiet voice.

“ Yeah! You’re the Ultimate Supreme Leader, right? Nothing is impossible for a leader! ” Kaito replied, throwing his arms in Kokichi’s shoulder.

Kokichi’s eyes watered for being stupid, he just realized that you were spending time with others so that the other students can be his friends.

“ Thank you...everyone. ” Kokichi muttered, removing the tears in his eyes.

“ Enough with the drama...enjoy your company with (y/n). ” Maki said, pushing Kokichi softly with reassurance pat on the back leading him outside.

(y/n) was seating into A soft knock was heard throughout (y/n)’s dorm. You were about to ask who is it but you cried more as you realized who is it.

You and Kokichi have a knock pattern, it has a tone that you and Kokichi would only understand.

“ Go away…” You murmured loud enough to make him hear it.

The knock stopped but you didn’t hear some faint footsteps. You began to hear different kinds of clicks near the door only realizing it was already open showing Kokichi while closing the door from behind.

Kokichi approached you giving you a warm hug that only made your body stiffen. Kokichi began to caressed your hair while rubbing your back with his other hand.

(y/n) looked at him with teary eyes and hugged him back crying all of her pain.

*Rantaro uses his megaphone device to launch himself up a wall. He gets a fair distance, until Shuichi fires a carefully aimed shot and blasts the device, breaking it before Rantaro can use it again. Just narrow of the platform, Rantaro is just able to grab the edge of it and heave himself up before he plummets.

*He looks back at Shuichi once more before he clambers to his feet and starts running. Shuichi rushes after him.

*As the fight on the lower floors continues, both Kaede and Kuripa’s blows start to get more enraged and more violent.

*Kuripa clashes weapons with Kaede, and forces her arms to the ground. With her defences lowered, he delivers a nasty elbow to her face, knocking her back. Kaede swiftly recovers and thrusts her spear towards him. Unfortunately, Kuripa moves out of the way of the attack, grabs her by the torso, lifts her up and flips her over in the air, slamming her down on her back.

*While she’s on the ground, Kuripa brings his blade down on her, which she raises her spear to block. Kaede thinks quickly though. She stops blocking and slides out of the way, causing Kuripa’s blade to hit the ground next to her. In a single swift motion, she throws her spear, and rolls back over to her original position, pinning Kuripa’s hand to the ground with her arm.

*WHOOOSH!*

GAH!?

GUHUP!

*Kuripa notices at the last second as the spear flies back around, soaring straight at him while he’s stuck. Thinking fast, he delivers a hefty kick to Kaede and knocks her back, jumping backwards to avoid being skewered. The spear flies back to Kaede’s hand as it misses it’s target.

That all you got!?

You’re the one out of breath kid…

*Rantaro tries to run for the door, but Shuichi thinks one step ahead. He aims and shoots the button to the door, slamming it shut before Rantaro can run through it.

First party he's ever been invited to and it was from by you. He could have fainted when you handed him the envelope yesterday morning at school. An angel inviting him of all people? Even if it ends up going wrong he would cherish that moment.

You surprised him once again by sitting with him at lunch and actually talking to him like he was a normal person. You could have dropped to the floor and worshipped you right then for making him feel seen for once. It would make up for the abuse he's endured for at least the past year if he could talk to you more like this.

Ah! Right you were talking! Focus Shuichi focus! What were you talking about again? The party? Yeah, that had to be it! He just needs to focus on your words.

You called him by his first name. That meant you were friends right? He surely hoped that was the case.

I like hearing your analysis! Quick question, i haven’t seen v3 but I’m afraid of kaito as a character. I know he’s supposed to be homophobic in the original Japanese and I think he hits shuichi for no reason. As someone who didn’t like him at first but he grew on you, what are his positive traits?

(Spoilers for V3 obviously lol, figured I’d mention since you said you hadn’t seen it yet)

I don’t know much of anything about the Japanese version of the game, as I’ve only seen the English version (I just can’t watch stuff with subtitles, I find it really distracting and I’m always drawing while I watch stuff so if I had to be reading the screen I couldn’t do that), but I’ve watched I think three (?) V3 playthroughs and I don’t remember Kaito doing anything homophobic.

And yeah, he does hit Suichi and I won’t lie it’s not pleasant, it’s sort of done to kinda snap Suichi out of being really upset after one of the class trials (I can’t remember which rn) but Kaito tries to help Suichi gain confidence and believe in himself over the course of the game and they have a really sweet friendship so I feel like it sort of cancels out? Plus later on Kokichi punches Kaito at the end of a class trial too so kinda pay back lol. It’s a small enough interaction to sort of just breeze past.

It wasn’t specifically that I didn’t like him at first, but Kaito’s one of the characters I didn’t really care about until I started using him in fanworks (the same can be said for Tenko (remnant v3 au), Korekiyo (super powers au me and my bestie have), and Bakugo from mha (danganronpa cross over au I’ve been writing in my spare time).

I like how dedicated he is to trying to help Suichi and Maki bond with other people and get out of their shells. He’s definitely the like, golden retriever friend lol. Like despite appointing himself the leader that man has never had the brain cell once in his life. I tend to make him very Kronk like and almost himbo-y. I think his space theme is really fun to work into art work too.

And I think his relationships with Maki and Suichi are both really, idk if realistic is the right word, but they’re really believable. He and Suichi don’t see eye to eye the whole time and they actually have a falling out because of what Suichi does in one of the class trials that’s just really interesting! Because Suichi is clearly in the right for having found the actual culprit, but it makes sense for Kaito to be upset about it because Kokichi was antagonizing him the entire trial and Suichi took Kokichi’s side instead of his and yeah if my friend did that I’d be mad too. He’s definitely a very expressive character who feels his feelings a lot, and while it’s not always a good way to react to something it’s a very human way to be.

He’s trying. The whole game he’s trying his best to keep everything ok. He backs up Kaede a lot at the beginning when a lot of the other characters don’t and I appreciate that since I love Kaede. He’s fully ready to risk fighting the exsisals to try and stop them from hurting everyone in chapter 1. He wants to cheer everyone on and wants to see them succeed.

I can’t fault anyone for not liking him, he’s very present for almost all of V3 so if his negatives outweigh his positives for someone then I can definitely see him overstaying his welcome. But personally I think he’s quite fun and it’s interesting for the support character to be a bit more involved? Invested? Engaged? With the main character compared to the previous two games. Like, I like Chiaki and Kyoko a lot, but Kaito feels like he’s more there to support Suichi emotionally instead of being a support by being good at investigating like the other two.

So its Pride Month! And as a proud member of the alphabet mafia I wanna give my opinion on all the Danganronpa characters' sexualities! So let's go, starting with THH!

Trigger Happy Havoc

Makoto Naegi- Pansexual. I'm under the belief all protags are Pan. Transgender(ftm). So I have this whole hc that the reason his door was jammed was that the lock was quickly removed when they found out SHE was actually a HE and I just like the hc lol.

Sayaka Maizono- Straight. I just think she has a big thing for Makoto, but other than that she cares for her career more than a relationship.

Leon Kuwata- Bisexual, heavy female leaning. I ship him with Hiro, but honestly this fucker would probably take forever to admit he likes guys.

Chihiro Fukisaki- Gay. Dont really have a reasoning. Just my opinion lol

Mondo Oowada- Bisexual. He mentions trying to confess to girls, but come on. This guy is fruity for Taka.

Kiyotaka Ishimaru- Gay. This dude meanwhile is just straight homo. He's probably closeted in fear it would bring shame to his family name again.

Hifumi Yamada- Straight. I honestly dont think about the guy enough to give this enough thought, but the way he simps over Celeste proves he likes girls at least. Plus he kept calling Alter Ego she, so...yeah.

I also dont really have a reason for thinking they're asexual? I just think they are. But they're probably panromantic in order to fit their talent better.

Teruteru Hanamura- Pansexual. He's so painfully pan. He even says his options are, and I quote, "pretty open." Dis bitch gay.

Mahiru Koizumi- Lesbian. Dont think I gotta explain myself.

Peko Pekoyama- Bisexual. She's totally dating Fuyuhiko, but I can see her having small crushes on other girls.

Hiyoko Saionji- Lesbian. Also dont think I need to explain myself.

Ibuki Mioda- Bisexual. RAGING bisexual. Also I can honestly see her being Gender Fluid as well.

Mikan Tsumiki- Bisexual. She honestly needs therapy more than she needs a relationship, and she probably doesnt really understand her own labels completely, but I think shes bi.

Nekomaru Nidai- Bisexual. Homeboy was a little TOO eager to be rubbed down by Teruteru 😏 Just kidding, though I do think Nekomaru is bi. No real reason honestly

Gundham Tanaka- Bisexual. He obviously has a thing for Sonia, and in a perfect world(i.e. my perfect world) he would be holding hands with Kazuichi daily. Speaking of holding hands he basically breaks Hajime's in the FTEs. Gay 🥰

Nagito Komaeda- Gay. He's very obviously gay coded, mostly towards Hajime though I dont personally ship that.

Chiaki Nanami- Pansexual. She loves everyone equally. Honestly she probably doesnt put too much work on her labels and would probably go by any pronouns as well, so maybe Gender Fluid?

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu- Bisexual. Like Leon I think it would take him a while to accept he likes guys, and he probably leans towards girls more, but he's definitely fruity lol.

Sonia Nevermind- Pansexual. Our girl fucks. She dont care who, she just FUCKS. 🤣 But seriously, I think she just sees love as love. As she should.

Kazuichi Souda- Gay. Transgender, (ftm). He's so very closeted, so badly even he doesnt recognize it. He probably even has internalized homophobia, probably because of his father. Not sure why I hc him as trans, I just think it fits.

Akane Owari- Straight. She probably doesnt think about it much. All she knows is she likes fighting, meat, and Coach Nekomaru.

Shuichi Saihara- Pansexual, Transgender(ftm). Its. THE RULE. I didnt make it. Sue me. Also fuck it I dunno I think it fits with his whole character if he were trans. Hard to explain lol

Rantaro Amami- Biromantic, Asexual. I admittedly dont know much about Rantaro, but from what I do know, I think he would fit well with just about anyone. I dont have much of a reason for him being Ace.

Kaede Akamatsu- Pansexual. She was the protagonist first, so the rule still applies lol. But even beyond that it just fits her. Hard to explain, it just seems like it works.

Ryoma Hoshi- Straight, Asexual. I know on my ship list I said I shipped him with Gonta, but theres a reason that ship was so low. I heavily think Ryoma is straight. It's just the vibe I get from him. Maybe hes bi curious, but idk. As for the ace bit, it's really dark. I hc it's because of the trauma he endured during prison.

Kirumi Tojo- Lesbian. Idk I look at her and I think "Lesbian power. Powerful wlw moments." Dont ask me my brain just does things.

Angie Yonaga- Pansexual. She always seemed like she was flirting with Himiko and lowkey Tenko, and in the FTEs she straight up wants to get married to Shuichi so like....I dunno what you want me to say.

Tenko Chabashira- Lesbian. Literally no explanation needed.

Korekiyo Shinguji- Pansexual. Putting aside the....obvious....he finds all of humanity beautiful, so he most likely doesnt have a preference when it comes to choosing a partner. Just like with Mukuro we pretend that entire plotline never happened.

Miu Iruma- Pansexual. I see her as pretty open to everyone....Yeah. That's all I got.

Gonta Gokuharu- Bi-curious. Honestly I dont think Gonta knows what he is himself. He probably hasnt given it too much thought, if hes given it any. The best I can think of is bi-curious, assuming hes currently exploring his sexuality.

Kokichi Ouma- Gay. I dont ship him with anyone cause I personally think he'd be a bad partner to anyone he got with based off of his personality, but yeah. He gay lmao.

Kaito Momota- Pansexual. THE LUMINARY OF THE STARS IS FOR EVERYBODY! Probably took a while for him to admit he wasnt straight, but then he admitted it with his whole heart, precious thing.

Tsumugi Shirogane- Straight. Fuck I dunno I dont think about her in a positive light enough to care. Sorry I really tried 😅

Kiibo- Panromantic, Genderfluid, Asexual. Like Imposter, I've called Kiibo he all the time, including every story I put them in, but technically they have no gender. So that does make them nonbinary, but at the same time it leaves the opportunity for them to go by any pronoun they want, so I hc they go by all of them lol. I also think they just love everyone, and for the ace bit, unfortunately, robots probably dont have dicks 😔 Even if they did, I dont think he would be very interested in sex.

Himiko Yumeno- Lesbian. Despite her treatment of Tenko, her reaction at the end of chapter 3 shows she cared for her, and Angie. She probably loved them both, so, lesbian for sure.

Maki Harukawa- Straight. Kaito was probably her first ever crush, so I doubt she ever had a chance to feel out if she was anything other than straight. Even disregarding that, I dont think she'd be anything else.

Alright and those are my headcanons for all the Danganronpa characters! As a bonus, I think Komaru Naegi is a Lesbian! No real reason other than Tokomaru is top tier lol.

He doesn’t like annoying his darling, obviously, but boy needs to cuddle his darling and he wants them to know how much he loves them. Makoto believes that his darling deserves love abandon affection and he wants to be the person to give it to them, specifically. It’s kind of hard to be mad or overly mean to him, though, so I feel like he’d end up being really affectionate towards his darling anyway, which makes him very happy. Makoto gets extremely saddened when his darling pushes him away due to thinking he has ill intentions, but he doesn’t let their own insecurities stop him from showing them affection.

He’d notice that his darling is touch-starved, though, and Nagito is a giver, so that’s the only way he’d ever even think of touching them. However, he’s rather starved for affection as well, so once he starts getting affectionate with his darling, Nagito finds it hard to stop, even when they start to push him away. Nagito is rather open about his feelings towards his darling and they should know that his intentions aren’t malicious in any kind of way, he just wants to make his darling happy, that’s all. Nagito’s too much, honestly.

☘︎︎ while I don’t see Shuichi as an overly affectionate person due to his initial shyness, he’s observant ant catches onto the fact that his darling is touch-starved, and he obviously wants to help them with that. Shuichi is someone I can see as being a bit touch-starved as well, but he doesn’t really think about it. He does little things, like hooking his pinky with his darlings, small things like that, things they may not even notice because it’s so subtle. Shuichi loves doing small affectionate things to his darling, but their initial reaction worries him a bit. He’d understand if they just weren’t comfortable with being touched, but he’d never do anything disrespectful or bad towards them, so pushing Shuichi away just confuses him.
