Hi Pia
Feel free to ignore if this is unwelcome, but have you ever thought about publishing traditionally to sublimate your income and draw in new readers? I know you've self published two books already and that you didn't feel like they did very well, but maybe the experience would be different if someone else was in charge of marketing and all the other business stuff?
Obviously everyone's experience is different but as an author myself who's published both trad and self, traditional publishing has been a completely different experience and has allowed me to focus more on writing because I'm not the one responsible for advertising/marketing/financing anymore.
There are a ton of literary agents nowadays that want to represent diverse and lgbtqia+ fiction, some of them even in Australia.
Websites like Reedsy, AgentQuery and Jerichowriters have extensive directories to find literary agents.
(This is lengthy folks so I'm putting the other two parts (and my response) under a read more! Also putting it under a read more so the anon can skip my response since it's very 'here's all the reasons I can't do this' and they just might not want to read that, lmao)
(continued -> )
Trad publishing houses have better resources for marketing and helping authors get more attention than any self publishing website could.
Obviously most authors, unless they're really prolific, don't get a huge advance (the average is between $1000 - $5000) but getting your foot in the door or on the traditional publishing "ladder' so to speak can have a huge benefit for your serials. Because it gives you more exposure. Plus it's in the agent's best interest to find a publishing house that accepts stories that contain darker themes and negotiate the best deal for you.
For some reason places like Amazon and the like accept and keep up more "dark" books that are traditionally published than they do with self pub ones. Maybe because they have more respect or leniency for publishing houses? I have no idea. But you could use this to your advantage. I think I remember you mentioning that writing novels felt quite isolating to you? But you already have 2 completed novels (3 if you count the fae one) that you could potentially revisit or rewrite to your liking and get them represented by agents.
You already have a loyal readership and that's very attractive to trad pub houses and agents.
As well as trad publishing, you could also make s simple website that doesn't require much maintenance. It could be just a landing page that says something about you and then has links to your tumblr and patreon where you're more active. That way you increase the chances of getting your serials found by additional readers and also come across looking more "professional". Not that you're not professional now. You are and I admire you greatly, but the unfortunate reality is a lot of people still judge by appearances and some will be more drawn to an author's website than a tumblr page, at least at first. So I think having a simple landing page would open up another door for you to benefit from.
Trad publishing is work but definitely not as much as self publishing, and you can continue on with your serials. Getting an agent can be time consuming but I personally believe the pros outweigh the cons and I also believe that your stories would be a huge treasure to the growing lgbtqia+ market. Seriously there needs to be more!
These are just suggestions and thoughts and like I said before, feel free to ignore. But I know you've mentioned wanting to grow your career in the past and I genuinely believe you can do so with some of these pathways.
~
Okay, my response. Posting this because firstly I think the suggestions could work very well for other authors reading this! And I hope they take the advice to note, and secondly because I haven't talked about this for a hot minute so let's talk about it again.
So the TL;DR is yes I have considered traditional publishing. I have actually been traditionally published in short stories, poetry, and also had my art published on covers and re: interior illustrations. But my Fae Tales works got soundly rejected when I sent them to publishing houses that were doing open calls for that sort of material. I've never heard back from an agent and I never expect to, heh.
~
Now for a bit more detail
I have been traditionally published before (it's how I got my writing out there long before I ever wrote serials), and yes, I have approached publishers with my writing since then. In fact Tradewinds was written for the traditional publishing market, and it got soundly rejected, and then shelved. The reasons it was rejected ran the gamut from 'I don't like that these fae eat humans no one is going to relate to these people' (while the editor then went on to publish vampire books idk) to 'There's too much worldbuilding you can't expect readers to keep up with this' to 'Your stories are too long, no one wants to read characters talking all the time.'
Meanwhile in my online serials I was getting feedback like 'my favourite chapters are the ones where the characters just sit in a room and talk' lol.
The traditional publishing world is also not quite as utopian for most authors as you make it seem. I'm friends with a lot of authors who are traditionally published because that's the world I came from, and unless they're solely in KU and doing generic rapid release formula romances, none of them are making that much money. Certainly not enough to live off. It may have been that you were very fortunate, anon, but I know hundreds more traditionally published authors that left trad pub to make money, and I know about 5 in trad pub personally who are making enough to live off of.
Only one of those is really writing what she truly loves to write, and even then, publishing houses have refused to commit to her entire fantasy series (and she's regularly in 'Top 10/20 Women Fantasy Authors in the World' lists) and forced her to finish the series prematurely. Something I never ever have to worry about in self pub.
The reality is that in trad pub these days, you're still in charge of most of your marketing unless you're one of the big earners for the publishing house. In fact I'd be expected to keep even more of a social media and marketing presence than I do now. I don't do almost any of the things you're supposed to do as an author in marketing to be appealing. I don't have a Facebook author account. I don't have an Instagram author account. I don't maintain or regularly send out newsletters (which automatically puts me in the like 0.05% of authors who make money doing this lmao).
I don't know if you ever have looked that closely into what m/m publishing houses expect from most of their authors, but the newsletter swaps, cover releases, review circuits, interview circuits and more are fucking grueling. We're expected to be responsible for our advertising and our marketing to a fairly massive degree. Some traditionally published in m/m still have to pay for their release blitzes out of pocket. These publishing houses, by and large, do not offer advances. You say most authors don't get large advances. I don't think most authors in this arena get offered advances at all unless they're somehow miraculously acquired by a Big 4.
We're expected to have an already established social media presence because of that (that's why it's so appealing to publishers that we have social media presences already, anon, so we can market, they can save money, and we still see only a minimal cut from the royalties).
And you still have to focus on your finances, because publishing houses like Dreamspinner straight up didn't pay a whole bunch of authors for so long they destroyed careers. They still haven't paid some of their authors. And they're still running a business and people still buy their books.
Trad publishing houses have better resources for marketing and helping authors get more attention than any self publishing website could.
This is true if a) they're a big publishing house and not an indie publisher of which most LGBTQIA+ publishing houses are and b) they're willing to use them on you.
The authors that make the most money get the most resources. If they believe you're going to earn back your advance and move thousands or tens of thousands of units per book, then yes, you will get those resources.
I have been told so many times now - even from friends who run publishing houses, including one who works at HarperCollins - that my work will never be mainstream enough to have broad appeal. They literally told me not to keep trying re: trad pub, because that was my dream for a long time. These folks have given me rock solid advice in the past, it's one of the reasons I'm doing so well now via Patreon + Ream. But they were like (paraphrasing) 'you don't write 60-80k romances and you don't want to and that's not your strength anyway, you're multi-genre which makes you hard to market, you write psychological and literary trauma recovery which is hard to market, you write character studies which are hard to market, publishing houses often don't commit to series anymore if the first two don't move units and if they pulled the plug you'd be contractually obliged to never finish that series until your contract was up.' I could go on, but it was like yeah...actually. Fair.
For some reason places like Amazon and the like accept and keep up more "dark" books that are traditionally published than they do with self pub ones. Maybe because they have more respect or leniency for publishing houses?
They do, but most publishing houses want very formulaic dark romance which is not what I write.
I have a 300k omegaverse slowburn that still hasn't had any penetrative sex in it, anon. Publishing houses don't want that. They don't expect anyone will wait 4 full length novels to get to literally a single penetrative sex scene.
But you already have 2 completed novels (3 if you count the fae one) that you could potentially revisit or rewrite to your liking and get them represented by agents.
If I rewrote them to my liking, trad pub wouldn't want them. They'd be too long! I think agents etc. take one look at me and go 'oh god, no thank you!' I'm not an easy sell, by any means.
Plus I'm very e.e about all of that with the knowledge that they then give me only about 10-15% of the royalties on the sales, vs. self-pub where I get around 70%, or subscription where I around 80% of it. When someone subscribes to me, they don't have to worry about 85-90% of their subscription fee going to a publishing house. I don't have to think about how many thousands and thousands of books I'd have to sell to make the same amount that I do now via subscription.
As well as trad publishing, you could also make s simple website that doesn't require much maintenance.
If it was that simple, I'd be doing it. I don't mean this in a facetious way, I mean it in a: I've made a lot of websites, in fact I run one at the moment not connected to my writing (I've been running it for so long it's now in its 20s and can probably has a driver's license). I find it so tedious that I barely remember to check in on it. But forgetting about it means there's always maintenance to keep up with when I get back to it.
Running websites is simpler than it used to be, but it's still not simple. There's hosting and hosting costs, there's server changes, there's back-end maintenance etc. I'm considering it for down the track, but there's a reason I decided to go the route of Patreon over my own site. There are authors (like Christopher Hopper) who actually do subscription through their own domain, but it's a lot of work.
Even placeholder sites are still work. They need updating, details change, story titles changing etc. Maintaining my Patreon + Ream About pages is enough, they're always both a little out of date, lol.
Not that you're not professional now.
Oh no, I mean from a 'traditional publisher looking at me to see what kind of candidate I am' I'm really not though. Like I said, I don't have the newsletter (100 subscribers who get one newsletter a year is not really a newsletter), I don't have the Facebook/Tiktok/Insta/Twitter/Bluesky/Threads accounts, etc. I write multi-genre across multiple steam levels, and I'm allergic to writing serials shorter than 150k. One of my best performing original serials was an 800k contemporary story with no sex in it but a lot of BDSM. It can't be marketed as clean or sweet, it's not high steam, an entire chapter is 'boy saves snail from rain.' Also he was cruel to animals, so not exactly what I'd call a sympathetic main.
And yet that story did so well for me via Patreon + Ream, because people want the kinds of stories that publishing houses generally don't want and I happen to be writing them.
Anon I just literally do not believe an agent would want to represent me. I have 0% belief in that. Not from a self-deprecating angle but from a 'I am not a good bet for the trad market' perspective. From a 'I have so many friends who are trad pubbed authors who stare at me like I'm insane for writing serials as long as I do' perspective. From a 'professionals in the industry have told me it's amazing I'm doing so well in serials because there's no way they'd take a risk on what I'm doing' perspective. From a 'just because it's queer and diverse doesn't mean it hits literally any other thing a trad pub is looking for' perspective. I've been doing this for 10 years. There are agents who represent work similar to mine who know what I'm doing and wouldn't touch me with a ten foot pole. They're not missing out on a trick, they know I'm not broad appeal, and they're right.
Also the only way I'd have the energy to manage trad pub is by quitting serials. And honestly, I never found trad pub all that much fun while I was doing it for non-novel stuff. It was fine, and it is nice to have my stuff out there, but it was a ton of admin and a lot of going back and forth between people who really only care about marketing a product, and that's great and what they excel at! But I'm too disabled to turn this job into something crushing just to potentially make more money, I'd rather just quit and go back onto a full Disability Pension. I can't see any way I still get to write the stories I want to write, in the way that I write them, and be remotely appealing to a single reputable trad pub or agent.
Also *gestures to everything in this article*

Discussion summary: Left Hand of Darkness
Published in 1969, The Left Hand of Darkness is a classic in science fiction that explores issues of sex/gender in an alien-yet-human society where the aliens are just like us except in how they reproduce. These aliens, the Gethenians, can reproduce as either male or female. They spend most of their lives sexually undifferentiated. Once a month, they go into heat (“kemmer”) and their sexual organs activate as either male or female (it’s essentially random).
Here's a summary of the discussions we had on 2023-08-25 and 2023-09-01 about the book:
HIGH LEVEL REACTONS
Michelle (@scifimagpie): even though it was written by a cis straight perisex woman there is a queerness to the writing that feels true and that she nailed. There is a queerness to the soul of this book that still holds up, that's true and good, and I cannot but love and respect that.
Elizabeth (@ipso-faculty): this book is such a commentary on 1960s misogyny. Genly is a raging misogynist. It takes a whole prison break and crossing the arctic for Genly to realize a woman or androgyne can be competent 👀
Dimitri: [Having read just the first half of the book] I wonder if it keeps happening, if Genly keeps going "woaaaah" [to the Gethenians’ androgyny] or if he ever acclimates. It's been half the novel my guy
vic: yeah a book where a guy is destroyed by seeing a breast makes me want queer theory
vic: [it also] makes me feel good to see how much has changed [since the 1960s]
THE INTERSEX STUFF
A thing we appreciated about the book was how being intersex is contextual. The main character of the book, Genly Ai, is a human from a planet like Earth, who visits Gethen to open trade and diplomatic relations.
On his home planet, and to Earth sensibilities, Genly is perisex - he is able to reproduce at any time of the month and is consistently male.
But on Gethen, Genly becomes intersex. On Gethen, the norm is that you only manifest (and can reproduce as) a given sex during the monthly kemmer (heat/oestrus) period.
The Gethenians understand Genly as living in “permanent kemmer”, which is described as a common (intersex) condition, and these people are hyper-sexualized and referred to as Perverts.
At this point it’s worth noting that depiction is not the same as endorsement. Michelle pointed out the book is very empathetic to those in permanent kemmer. LeGuin does not appear to be endorsing the social stigma faced by these people, merely depicting it, and putting a mirror to how our own society treats intersex people.
Throughout the book, Genly is treated as an oddity by the Gethenians. He is hyper sexualized. He undergoes a genital inspection to prove he is who he says he is.
When Genly is sent to a prison camp and forcibly given HRT, he does not respond “normally” to the hormones, the effects are way worse for him, and the prison camp staff don’t care, and keep administering them even if it’ll kill him.
Two of us have had the experience of having hyperandrogenism and being forced onto birth control as teenager, and relating to the sluggishness of the drugs that Genly experienced, as well as the sense that gender/sex conformity was more important to authority figures (parents, doctors) than actual health and well-being.
Another scene we discussed the one where Genly is in a prison van en route to the gulag, and a Gethenian enters kemmer and wants to mate with him and he declines. He is given multiple opportunities over the course of the book to try having sex with a Gethenian, and declines every time, and we wondered if he avoided it out of trauma of being hyper-sexualized & hyper-medicalized & having had his genitals inspected.
We discussed the way he described his genital inspection through a trauma lens, and how it interacts with toxic masculinity - in vic’s terms, Genly being "I am a manly man and I have don't trauma"
Those of us who read the short story, Coming of Age in Karhide, noted that once the world was narrated from a Gethenian POV, the people in permanent kemmer were treated far more neutrally, which gave us the impression that Genly as an unreliable narrator was injecting some intersexism along with his misogyny
WHY IT MATTERS TO READ THIS BOOK THROUGH AN INTERSEX LENS
Elizabeth: I’ve encountered critiques of this book from perisex trans folks because to them the book is committing biological essentialism, and dismissing the book as a result. I think they’re missing that this book is as much about (inter)sex as it is about gender. I think they’re too quick to dismiss the book as being outdated or having backwards ideas because they’re not appreciating the intersex themes.
Elizabeth: The intersex themes aren’t exactly subtle, so it kind of stings that I haven’t seen any intersex analyses of this book, but there are dozens (hundreds?) of perisex trans analyses that all miss the huge intersex elephants in the room.
Also Elizabeth: I’ve seen this book show up in lists of intersex books/characters made by perisex people, and I’ve seen Estraven listed as intersex character, and it gets me upset because Estraven isn’t intersex! Estraven is perisex in the society in which he lives. Genly is the intersex character in this story and people who misunderstand intersex as being able to reproduce as male & female (or having quirky genitals smh) are completely missing that being intersex is socially constructed and based on what is considered typical for a given species.
WHAT THE BOOK DOESN’T HANDLE WELL
The body descriptions. As Dmitri put it: “ Like "his butt jiggled and it reminded  me of women" ew. It was intentional but I had to put the book down. It reminded me of transvestigators and how they take pictures of people in public.” 🤮
Not pushing Genly to reflect on how weird he is about other people’s bodies. We all had issues with how Genly is constantly scrutinizing the bodies of other humans to assess their gender(s) and it’s pretty gross.
vic asked: “how much of this is her reproducing violence without her knowing it? A thing I didn't like was how he always judging and analyzing people's bodies and realizing others treat him that way. And I wish there was more of his discomfort about this, that it made him feel icky.”
Dimitri added: “I really wanted him to have a moment of this too, for him to realize how much it sucks to be treated this way. As a trans person it's so uncomfortable. What are you doing going around doing this to people?”
Using male pronouns as default/ungendered pronouns. Élaina asked why Genly thinks a male pronoun is more appropriate for a transcendent God and pointed out there’s a lot to unpack there.
OTHER POSITIVES ABOUT THE BOOK
Genly’s journey towards respecting women, that he still had a ways to go by the end of the book. vic pointed out how “LeGuin was straight, and she loves men, and is kinda giving them the side-eye [in this book]. Her writing about how Genly is childish makes me really happy. It’s kind of hilarious to watch him bang his head against the wall because he’s so rigid.”
To which Dmitri added: “I agree with the bit on forgiving men for stuff. I don't know how she [LeGuin] does it but she really lays it all out. She gives you a platter of how men are bad at things, how they make mistakes that are pretty specific to them. She has prepared a buffet of it.”
Autistic Estraven! As Michelle put it: “autistic queer feels about Estraven speaking literally and plainly and Genly not getting it”
The truck chapter. Hits like a pile of bricks. We talked about it as a metaphor for the current pandemic.
The Genly x Estraven slowburn queerplatonic relationship
The conlang! Less is more in how it gets used
MIXED REACTIONS
The Foretelling. For some it felt unnecessary and a bit fetishy. For others it was fun paranormal times.
Pacing. Some liked how the book really forces you to really contemplate as you go. Others struggled with a pace that feels very slow to 2023 readers.
WORKS WE COMPARED THE BOOK TO
Star Trek (the original series) - we wondered if LHOD and Genly Ai were progressive by 1960s standards, and TOS came up as a comparison point. We were all of the impression that TOS was progressive for its time but all of us find it pretty misogynist by our standards. The interest in extra-sensory perception (ESP) is something that was a staple of TOS that feels very strange to contemporary viewers and also cropped up in LHOD
Ancillary Justice - for being a book where characters’ genders are all ambiguous but the POV character is actually normal about how they describe other characters’ bodies.
The Deep - for being another book in a situation where being able to reproduce as male and female is the norm. The Deep was written by an actually intersex author, and doesn’t have the cisperisex gaze of scrutinizing every body for sex. But oddly LHOD actually winds up feeling more like a book about intersex people, because it features a character who is the odd one out in a gonosynic society. In contrast, nobody is intersex in the Deep - everybody matches the norms for their species, which makes the intersex themes in the work much more subtle.
Overall, as vic put it, “there's something to be said about an honest depiction that's not great, especially when there's no alternatives”. For a long time there weren’t many other games in town when it came to this sort of book, and even though some things now feel dated, it’s still a valuable read. We’d love to see more intersex reviews & analyses of the book!

Romantic Matchups; Scooby Doo, Harry Potter, and DC

Scooby Doo;
Velma Dinkley -
Tumblr media
You first met Velma in a quirky, small-town library where she was researching an obscure paranormal phenomenon.
She noticed you pulling a thick stack of mythology books and couldn't resist striking up a conversation about your shared interest in the mythology and supernatural.
You were hesitant at first, overwhelmed by her somewhat shy but also confident - and rapid-fire explanations - but her passion drew you in.
She noticed while in conversation that you were stimming with a pen, and so she offered you a stress toy that she carried around 'just in case'.
Really, it was whenever Shaggy forgot his stress toys, Velma always had a few extra on her.
Velma loved how your knowledge of mythology and horror complemented her detective work.
She started asking for your input on cases, even ones where the supernatural wasn’t involved.
Yeah, it wasn't long into your friendship that she told you about her job with her other friends.
Though, she made sure that you were ready when introducing you to her friends; Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Scooby.
You bonded over late-night study or gaming sessions.
Who knew that she actually liked video games?
She introduced you to her favorite puzzles and logic games, and you surprised her with your knack for finding unconventional solutions.
She quickly learned to recognize when you needed space or were overwhelmed, offering quiet support without pressuring you to talk.
Velma began to fall for you when she realized how deeply you cared for others, even when it hard for you to express it.
She admired how you poured your energy into making/finding thoughtful gifts for people you loved.
On your end, you couldn’t help but notice how Velma’s intelligence was matched by her kindness. She made you feel understood in a way that no one else did.
She would obviously already know ASL, so she can communicate with you if ever you go non-verbal.
Velma officially asked you out during a quiet moment at the Mystery Machine. She’d written her feelings out in a little notebook.
Dates involved exploring old bookstores, binge-watching classic horror cartoons, and even arts and crafts.
She loved the gifts you had given her - homemade bookmarks, shiny rocks, and hand-drawn cards.
And food! She loves it whenever you bake her something!
She is a sucker for your cookies!
She loves giving you things in return; a piece of a coyote jaw bone, a very cool and smooth rock, a raven feather made into a quill - with some ink for your writing.
You helped Velma organize her notes when she got overwhelmed with research, offering her snacks and tea to keep her going.
She took you on ghost-hunting adventures, letting you hang back with her equipment if you were too anxious to join the front-line sleuthing.
Velma would often give you hugs or hold your hand when she noticed you getting fidgety in social situations, her presence calming you down.
But, if you are not into hugs at that moment, she will soothe you with her kind words and soft voice.
If you don't want that, she will just sit or stand beside you, comforting you with her presence, in the peaceful silence.
She bought you a heated blanket for your always-cold tendencies and loved wrapping you up in it while you watched horror movies together.
If anyone made you uncomfortable or dismissed your stims, she’d give them a firm, no-nonsense lecture about respecting boundaries.
You’d leave encouraging notes in her notebooks, reminding her how brilliant she was whenever she doubted herself.
Knowing how much she loved mysteries, you created a mini-scavenger hunt for her birthday, with clues leading to a handmade scrapbook of your favorite moments together.
By the way, Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Scobby love you!

Harry Potter;
Sirius Black -
Tumblr media
You were friends with Lily Evans and often helped her with schoolwork.
Through her, you untimely met Sirius.
Sigh.
Who initially came off as loud and intimidating to your more introverted self.
He was also quite the hindrance when you were trying to work on homework, but then again, you were also procrastinating.
Sirius found your quiet nature intriguing and took it as a challenge to get you out of your shell.
He’d sit next to you during meals or throw playful quips your way until you eventually started bantering back.
Opening up a bit took a while, he had to earn your trust.
Sirius loved dragging you into mischievous adventures, but he also respected your need for calm moments.
Which surprised you a bit because, well, he was Sirius Black.
But he was considerate, knowing when you were becoming overwhelmed or overstimulated and making sure you found a quiet place to destimulate.
He’d often sit with you in the library, pretending to study while secretly drawing funny doodles to try and make you laugh.
Sirius Black? In a library?
Never heard of that.
When he started spending time with you in the library, that's when James, Remus, and Peter started getting the feeling that Sirius liked you.
Yeah, more than a friend.
He always carried a charm or trinket you’d made for him, claiming it brought him luck during Quidditch matches.
He really likes the black dog keychain you made him, it's on his satchel bag.
Sirius realized his feelings at James and Lily’s wedding, where he saw you sitting alone, looking lost in thought. He was struck by how much he wanted to make you smile.
To be the reason for your wonderful smile...
Oof, he was hooked, smitten; he fancied you.
For you, it was the little things he did - like carrying a scarf to lend you when you got cold, buying you and him matching slippers, and when he tried baking you something for once... That made you fall for him.
After years of friendship, the transition to romance felt natural, as if it had been building up all along.
The night of the wedding, Sirius sat next to you and quietly confessed his feelings, offering you his hand for a dance.
That dance turned into a slow, heartfelt moment where everything else faded away.
He was fiercely protective, always checking in on your anxiety or making sure you had an escape plan at crowded events.
You’d spend hours curled up together, you reading while he absentmindedly played with your hair or practiced spells.
Sirius loved taking you on nighttime walks, and pointing out constellations while you shared random historical facts.
He taught you to ride a broom, holding you steady until you felt comfortable soaring on your own.
Sirius made a point of remembering your stims and comforting habits, offering distractions or grounding techniques when you were stressed.
Buys you all the pillows, blankets, and stuffies you could ever wish for whenever you are tired.
Just take a nap, and let all your worries wash away...
You defended him fiercely when people brought up his family, shutting down any judgment with calm but firm logic.
And, yeah, you know about his dog form.
Doggy pets.
Totally helps with anxiety.

DC;
Helena Bertinelli (Huntress) -
Tumblr media
You worked with the Justice League as a coordinator for resources and information.
Helena - Huntress - initially saw you as another "desk job" person and didn’t think much of it until you helped her track down a lead she’d been chasing for weeks.
She felt kind of bad for underestimating you.
She was impressed by your efficiency and sharp intellect, but it wasn’t until she noticed your quiet confidence that she started to really respect you.
You bonded over late nights in the Watchtower, where she’d take breaks from patrols and find you engrossed in a book or crafting.
Helena appreciated how you respected her boundaries but also had a knack for offering support when she needed it most.
She’d often sit with you during your breaks, sharing stories about her latest missions while you listened attentively and asked thoughtful questions.
You started stashing snacks and warm drinks for her, knowing she often forgot to take care of herself during long missions.
Helena started to develop feelings when she noticed how deeply you cared for her well-being, even when she tried to brush it off. She admired your determination and the way you made her feel seen and heard.
You didn't see her like some of the others in the Justice League.
They didn't fully trust her because how she thought killing was justified if the person had done something incredibly horrible.
You understood her, you made her feel seen, and you knew that she was just doing what she could to get rid of the bad people in the world.
Oh, and she usually ran on revenge, they didn't like that either.
But you liked her.
:)
Basically, what I am saying, is that you supported her unconditionally, standing by her even when her methods were questioned by others, because you believed in her heart.
For you, it was her unwavering sense of justice and the rare moments when she let her guard down around you that made your heart ache for her.
The realization hit you both slowly but undeniably, like puzzle pieces falling into place.
Helena confessed her feelings one night in the Watchtower, her voice soft but steady as she admitted that she trusted you more than anyone else.
Dates were unconventional - training sessions in the gym, sneaking away to cozy diners or sharing a bottle of your favorite drink after a long day.
If you both aren't in the mood for anything crazy - as said above - the both of you would spend time reading together, watching horror movies, or even napping.
She was fiercely loyal and made a point of checking in with you, whether through a quick message during missions or a surprise visit to your office.
You helped Helena upgrade her gear, offering creative ideas that combined her combat expertise with your resourcefulness.
She is obsessed with the upgrade you gave her crossbow.
She loved reading alongside you, even if her taste leaned more toward gritty crime novels than your mythology and horror books.
Movie nights were a staple - she secretly enjoyed the cartoons and horror flicks you introduced her to, though she’d never admit it.
Helena made a habit of walking you home after work, her protective instincts kicking in every time she thought about you being alone at night.
Loves secretly leaving your gifts on your desk in your office - like cozy, dark-colored sweaters that fit your aesthetic.
She'd also surprise you with other small tokens of affection - a rare book you'd mentioned, a sleek jacket to match hers, or a plushie she saw and that reminded her of you.
She totally understands when you need to be alone, if ever. She also likes her alone time.
She also totally understands whenever you become overwhelmed or overstimulated; she has a full bin of fidget toys and craft supplies in her room whenever you need them.
Speaking more about fidget toys; Helena kept a small collection of fidget toys you introduced her to, finding them surprisingly helpful for calming her nerves after intense missions.
She’d often fidget with one while talking to you, claiming it was your fault she’d gotten attached.

As I said before I don't post much about House of the Dragon at all on Tumblr. But if this news about Nettles is true, Twitter (yes I still call it that) will not be the only place to get a rant from me about this. Possible spoiler beneath the cut.
And let me just say upfront that if the below spoiler IS true, it will just confirm something even more about the show that I talked about before in the post I linked to above.
Tumblr media
If this is true, then all it does is confirm to me what I always thought after reading Fire & Blood -- and that is that Nettles was Daemon's bastard daughter and not his lover.
But even if Nettles wasn't that? IF this is true then the fact that they think cutting Nettles at all and just replacing/merging her with another character -- who wasn't even black in the books but is now on the show -- was the way to go just reinforces everything I've felt wrt this show and the handling of the characters who were originally white and that were made black on the show.
Which is that almost no thought was put into it when they did it.
Blame Interview with the Vampire for making me feel this way. But I'm sorry, when you watch that show, which so clearly gives real thought and care to the characters they change the races of -- color-consciously casting and writing for them -- so that it all makes sense within the universe of the show -- and then compare that to what House of the Dragon has been doing . . .
This stuff can be done, and done well, if you actually take the time to think and work on it so it does. IWTV is proof of that. And HotD just hasn't proven to me, so far, that they have. (And it wouldn't have been hard too at all btw. I came up with a few things super quick myself how to months ago).
I'm sorry but Nettles isn't just a character you can meld with one of Daemon's other daughters and still have the same themes and conflict in the story IMO. Nettles was poor. She was smallfolk, not aristocratic. But she was cunning and smart and that is how she got Sheepstealer to accept her, no highborn background or education was needed. She gained Sheepstealer's trust via her wits and that was enough. And her non-classic Vaylrian looks continued to reinforce that you didn't need them to be skilled dragon-rider.
And look, you don't want to negatively impact Daemon and Rhaenrya? Just make Nettles older than all of Daemon's other children. Rhaenrya wouldn't care if Daemon fathered a bastard child or two long before they themselves got together.
And look, to be real blunt, the fact that this looks to be happening with one of the characters that was specifically made black in this adaptation -- while removing the one character who was specifically described as black (dark skin, etc) . . . yeah. To say it's leaving a bad taste in my mouth is an understatement.
And I'll say, for Rhaena? I always imagined one of the last shots of the show being her riding Morning through the clouds as morning comes. The last of the younger generation to get a dragon becomes the last dragon-rider, well after the war that destroyed all the other dragons (and most of her family) is over. They can do that with her and Sheepstealer I guess, but it just won't have the same poetic impact IMO.
Anyway, to me most of all this whole idea looks to be a consequence of lazy writing. Which, almost more than anything, annoys me to no end when it comes to storytelling.
Again, this is just a rumor right now. So I'm trying to just take it with a grain of salt for now. But if it proves true . . . 😐

Oh heck it's past midnight and I didn't do today's OC-tober. I don't have time for an art so let's do some writing. The prompt is "Future" so there's a bunch I could figure out. My Blanksford story spans a lot of years and I don't have any concrete plans for the future of the timeline even though it's technically important for the overarching story.
Well let give this a go...
It's late and I'm gonna ramble so it's probably gonna be pretty long and depending on if I keep any of it would be heavily spoiler-filled so under the cut it goes.
So with a timeline this long I've been thinking for a while that I need to kill one of my main characters at some point. Like technically I don't have to, I've already had them give up their powers so they aren't an immediate threat to the limit of 6 supers, but I do kind of want to. I just don't really know how. Cuz the last time I killed a major character in a story (I won't spoil who, but it was in my Colostle story) I kinda lost all motivation for the story and I couldn't go back on it cuz of the formatting. But this time I can think about it and if I don't like it than I can try again in a different way.
So my first idea a while back was to have Artemis go overboard and accidentally kill a super. Since she doesn't resort to killing despite her role as one of the most dangerous villains it'd be an interesting turn for her. But now with what I've set up with her and Taylor it seems less likely, though still technically possible. But it'd probably only worth it if she kills Taylor, which would be a shame since I like him so freaking much as a character so I probably won't do this.
I could also have Gabby regret giving up their powers, maybe go the vigilante route. Help out Mercury's new Super Wing fight the Y13 & Y14 villains. ...Which does actually make a lot of sense (and would probably motivate me to write some Phase 3 plot points / stories too).
Okay yeah I'll have that be a good starting point. Take the really old idea of Twin & Distress and make it less about Twin being the villain and more about Distress betraying Twin for whoever I make the Y14 villain be. Then Distress and that villain end up kinda strong, so Mercury and Splash can't handle it themselves. They turn to Gabby for help off of Gordon Wheeler's recc. Gabby has another crisis about their powers (or lack thereof this time) and gets pulled back into the drama. And then either Distress or the Y14 villain kills Gabby after they got in the way. And this overstep would definitely bring Artemis and Blank into the drama too, and I'd get a good old-fashion classic superhero war. And all those fight scenes I've been avoiding would get to happen pretty much all at once. And maybe that war takes long enough that the Y15 super emerges and creates even more for everyone to deal with.
Aeri and Gabby's sister Katie would be fucking heartbroken over Gabby's death of course. They both live together at this point and the person who connected them is gone. They'd probably stay together for a while but I imagine Aeri would quickly get overwhelmed without Gabby and leave in some way; whether that's trying to get revenge, or straight up running from D-City, or something else entirely. So Katie would turn to Madi and Taylor, and they're all friends at this point so it'd probably work out. (Assuming I don't mess with the friendship dynamics by this point with what I'm also working on with Taylor and Artemis' storylines, who knows.)
But if I was going to kill off Gabby I'd want to get some good stories in for her send off, so the Y14 villain would probably end up being the fear-based villain that I've been thinking about. For that villain's inspiration don't think Scarecrow (Batman) but more of a villainous reverse Alex Chen (Life is Strange). Although I'm not too studied on scarecrow maybe that's more his vibe than I think. But anyways I'd get to do some AU stuff that takes place in character's heads and Gabby would see some dark timelines and stuff like that.
ACTUALLY... now that I think about it Distress is kind of a weak villain (I haven't even drawn her yet despite having thought of her like 5 years ago), so maybe I skip Distress altogether let the fear villain be the Y13 super. Hell Distress works as a name for a fear villain too, so I could just rewrite my plans for Distress / Twin and I'd get to keep the few things I liked about Distress and make that work out. Cuz ditching Drake really worked out for the story maybe this could work out too.
Okay yeah that works really well! Guess it turns out that forcing yourself to think about the future of your story for an hour and a half really helps you figure out the future of your story. Weird probably could've tried that before at some point.
...now to go to sleep and let a less tired Rachel wake up tomorrow and deal with this long ramble and turn it into actual actionable story beats. Good luck <3

deltarune rambling time yippee
i think deltarune is in an interesting spot in terms of like... theres a lot of theories that have had a lot of time to develop, and like. i dont think these specific conditions have really happened to a game before. having a big audience of lore nuts AND giving them 2 chapters worth of solid concrete stuff and then havin em wait? its very, very interesting
(rereading this post i think i might reword or add an addendum to it later since i kinda didnt quiiite word my thoughts on Big Theories below exactly right. it feels like im saying that every theory is just gonna be wrong... when i just think that the nature of the lore has a decent chance to be able to almost... parody theorizing, if its based on the nature of fiction and creation. which would make deep theories not WRONG but not RIGHT, just unprovable)
like, ive skimmed through big theories that seem larger than i could even imagine deltarune itself being... not to say i believe theyre entirely wrong, but just that. it definitely wont be explained to THAT degree in game...
what im really tryna say though is, yknow, i distance myself from the bigger theories because im patient and also because i ... dont wanna spoil myself if the theories are perfectly right but especially, a big reason, is the typical classic "don't get your hopes or expectations up" dont get me wrong, ive got big hopes for deltarune and some healthy hype, but i aint gonna get my expectations all fixated on some gigantic theory of the entire overarching metanarrative. i think its great that people are developing so many theories though involving like, the depths and stuff. because worst comes to worst? well, toby fox has just convinced people to write their own stories. and for a game that seems to be shaping up to be about the nature of fiction and creation? seems fitting (genuinely i expect chapter 3 to be the birth of SO many deltarune AUs, out of what is proven wrong or left ambiguous) so yeah, i dont say this to be like "nah no ones gonna be right, toby doesnt have big plans" because im certain he does have some big master plan in the lore but i also believe the lore wont necessarily focus around what we're expecting, if that makes sense. if the game is about fiction, which it clearly is to some degree with the whole. ralsei pushing us down the path of a generic prophecy where we are heroes and vanquish evil... and then immediately dissecting Good Guys vs Bad Guys in ch1 and very much making it a point that we're trying to be kept ON the path of a very specific story. both us and kris.
i think i kinda worded some of this wrong but like TLDR? i do believe toby has big lore plans, but i think theres a decent chance they wont actually get super deep into like, worldbuilding all the logic of dark worlds for example. because... well, the lore could very well be that dark worlds arent logically explainable, yknow. something like the collective unconscious kinda logic. or like terapagos in pokemon being a kind of... paradoxical thing because its born based on belief in it
maybe im wrong thjough. either way, i am excited for deltarune. whatever direction it goes in, ill be happy.

So, guess who's finally read Son of Rosemary, the sequel to Ira Levin's classic novel, Rosemary's Baby?
Guess who regrets reading Son of Rosemary?
You know what? I'm not going to dignify anything this novel has going for it. It's just straight-up unapologetically not good. I've known the rumors, of how legendarily bad the ending is, and you know what? Yeah.
I complained a lot about Delicate Condition and its tendency to fake-out interesting situations. I'll take that over this, because at least you knew that Danielle Valentine was trying. Ira Levin had the original novel under his belt, The Stepford Wives (yes, that was a book first), just so much and yet, he chose the weakest kind of ending the world has known: the fucking "it was all a dream"-ending.
With the possible exception of The Wizard of Oz, has anyone ever been satisfied with "oh yeah, all that stuff you went through, all these incredibly high stakes, this journey of growth and discovery, lol, never happened." I don't even really like it for The Wizard of Oz, but I'm at least aware of the producers' concerns that lead to that ending in the first place as a product of its time.
Starting out, I was kind of getting some exciting Omen III: Final Conflict vibes. Then the incest started.
I don't know why I was hoping that would perhaps build off into something, but nope. The book kind of keeps that as a weird running thread, with no real dramatic pay-off. They maintain a fair, mostly innocent relationship, only with that added feature of The Adversary, Destroyer of Kings, Angel of the Bottomless Pit, Great Beast that is Called Dragon, Prince of This World, Father of Lies, Spawn of Satan, and Lord of Darkness wanting to have sex with his mother. They joke about it a few times. She almost indulges him while high.
So there's basically no actual horror to this Antichrist story. A couple of bodies, but nothing interesting is done with their deaths. There's very little interesting drama either.
Even the appearance of Satan himself at the end doesn't qualify as an interesting moment. How bad must the writing of a novel be that you fail to make the introduction of fucking SaTaN??? Interesting???
So, let's play a game. Nice little hypothetical. If you were to assume that the Devil were a character in this novel, and expected him to show up at some point in the end, perhaps as a twist or a reveal, who would it be?
Rosemary after waking up from a twenty-something year coma and discovering that her son, The Adversary, Destroyer of Kings, Angel of the Bottomless Pit, Great Beast that is Called Dragon, Prince of This World, Father of Lies, Spawn of Satan, and Lord of Darkness, has become a political leader and human rights activist. She quickly finds herself attracted to his body-guard and the two make plans to get down and dirty on New Years.
Yeah, Satan is exactly who you expect him to be. Funnily enough, all of his dialog becomes indescribably more poorly written after the reveal.
I should have realized how bad this was going to become when I finished Chapter 17, turned the page, and saw this:
Tumblr media
Dialog attribution from this point on also becomes almost incredible.
Tumblr media
Once, I might have found funny. Ira Levin's style here, up to this point, has been a bit, shall we say, quirky. I count five instances of this, as if I've inexplicably not connected these dots, as if Monsieur Levin hasn't spelled out to me in black and white in crystal clear words that this character Joe is in fact, Satan.
I could excuse pregnancy-brain, that unfortunate cocktail of hormones and growing paranoia, for some of Rosemary's less intelligent decisions in the original novel. In this one, she seems hell-bent on accepting every single explanation she's offered for the weirdness going on around her, as if she left all of her common sense on the floor next to Baby Andy's bassinet.
My evidence: she goes to a church, asking God for guidance as she suspects Andy to be involved in Satanic practices, including the murder of his lover. A patron has a horrible seizure, which she runs away from, believing it to be an actual answer. By this point she's claiming to have visions, so this ominous fit comes off as a bit of an Omen, if you will.
She then decides, yepp, nope, no answers here. Coincidence, God's too busy see. I only bore the child of his Adversary. I literally gave birth to The Adversary, Destroyer of Kings, Angel of the Bottomless Pit, Great Beast that is Called Dragon, Prince of This World, Father of Lies, Spawn of Satan, and Lord of Darkness, but why would that make me special enough to warrant the attention of Mr G-dash-D himself?
Actually, you know what, I take it back. The ending makes perfect sense. Because only in the context of a dream would I believe Rosemary as a character is capable of such truly baffling intelligence loss.
I'm sorry I sought this book out. Hollywood has two really good sequels that are worlds better than the one the author wrote. The Omen III, and The Devil's Advocate.
The former does a fantastic job of showing what Adrian could have been, and the latter's ending weirdly parallels this one's, but is executed in a far superior manner.
Yeah, I didn't like it.
I might have found Delicate Condition personally not to my taste, being derivative of Rosemary's Baby, but my God is it oh so much better than Son of Rosemary. I'm truly sorry, Delicate, you did not deserve my ire. My ranting dis-satisfaction. You are a beautifully more pleasant thing than this thing that dares to call itself a worthy sequel.
I am sorry.

"Skeppy will probably cry" "Bad will probably cry". Bish, screw, that I am crying!!!
This whole thing was bloody gorgeous and I wasn't expecting that ending. I had no clue what ending to expect but that was definitely better than any I could have hoped for. Forest spirit to soulmate your honour!
I was terrified that you were gonna leave it at the point where he loses the spirit and becomes mortal again. If you had I would be actively sobbing!!!! And oh my god, the art!!! I still can't get over how wonderful your style is.
Imma ask fun things because if I don't I'll sit in a puddle of emotion all night:
What's the first tech thing Bad will buy and how annoying will he be about it? Poor Skeppy trying to answer 101 questions about something he doesn't really use XD.
Is no one concerned that the odd couple from a town they never name has a pet wolf??
Do they immediately go over to a different town or do they wander for a while. Find hidden creeks and befriend bears?
Does Bad still have a connection to nature and animals, like are creatures naturally more trusting of him?
Do they ever visit the og town again?
Does Skeppy still cause absolute chaos in other towns or has he learnt his lesson and only causes minor trouble now?
Does Bad ever try and study again? If he did what would he study and would Skeppy try to study as well?
Does Skeppy steal? I dunno, he just give off the vibe of a naughty lil trickster who'll pocket something if the owner refuses to sell it him.
Immediately after leaving the forest what the first 'argument' they have (not including the car one)?
Would they ever ride horse? If yes, how terrified would Skeppy be?
Skeppy falls outta tree. I don't know why but my mind keeps telling me that this man has great balance until he climbs trees. They are his mortal enemy and Bad finds this both hilarious and terrifying because he is going to hurt himself.
I had waaaaay more questions than I intended to have. My bad '^_^ but this story was way too much fun to read and you are entirely to blame for making it so engaging!
Make sure to take care of yourself and do stretches after and during drawing. You don't wanna hurt yourself <3
AaaaI’m so glad you liked it! :D And, dang, man, I cried while writing that part too :D
And I promised a nice ending for the main story, I did, and this one also makes the most sense narratively! For the story I wanted to tell, at least. Bad can’t really become human again, he’s changed to much. He can only move on, and do something with what he is, and has. And he did! :D That’s really nice and inspiring, this story will always have a place in my heart, heheh <3
Being a guardian spirit connected to a person and all, Bad may be not as strong as before, but he can’t die unless Skeppy dies first. And Skeppy can do that, but he’s pretty sturdy, and his lifespan operates on a whole other scale than human ones. And Bad knowing Skeppy’s real name balances it all out, makes them equal in the power and influence they have over each other.
So hellyeah, soulmates for the win :DDD
I’ll answer all questions under the cut, and this close up from one of the pages!
Tumblr media
1) What's the first tech thing Bad will buy and how annoying will he be about it?
Probably a pager! Because it’s a more feasible thing to get than a wholeass computer Bad actually wanted :D An it means Skeppy will have to get one too, and that Bad will be having the time of his life texting him and everyone he can get a number from, even if they’re still in the room with him.
Poor Skeppy indeed, he can learn to appreciate the pagers, and later phones, too, and computers, but he really has 0 idea on how it all works and why Bad is so fascinated by it all.
2) Rat and regular people
Oh, she can shapeshift, just like Bad! If they’re out with people around, she takes form of a puppy, and Bad can pass her off as a weird mix breed rescue doggo.
3) Do they immediately go over to a different town or do they wander for a while?
Oh, since they have no end destination in mind, they can ride around for a bit, go visit some cool places and roadside attractions. Sadly, Skeppy is probably not spiritually or morally ready to full on befriend wild bears yet, and they do need money for gas and snacks. So, at some point they will have to stop somewhere and find work – at least for a bit, to save up. Life’s gonna be a bit complicated with all that, until Skeppy figures out his treasure-finding abilities :DD
4) Bad and nature and animals
He is definitely still in tune with all wildlife! Even more – Bad could become a proper guardian spirit for Skeppy in part because, in a way, Skeppy himself is part of the nature.
So yeah, Bad can understand animals (and plants) and communicate with them; they’re just more free to not take his shit, and Bad’s emotions do not “possess” them unless he makes an effort to do so.
He doesn’t like doing it, tho.
5) Do they ever visit the og town again?
Hm, I think they will completely forget about it for a while, until, like, 30+ years later they will be going somewhere, and find themselves around those parts. And they try to not appear too often in the areas they’ve spent a lot of time in already (they can be pretty recognizable, and also barely show signs of aging). But it’s been a long time, and the town’s really different now… So they make a stop, and spend a day there. They walk the unfamiliar streets between the new buildings, check out the popular hiking trail, the advertisements for hot springs and winter activities. The old cinema is still there, and is hosting an all-night marathon of classic horror movies of the last century.
Bad and Skeppy leave the town after sunset – the day was nice, but they have nothing more to do there. They ride through the forest on a well paved road, with radio playing something barely above the whisper. And in the dark of hot summer night, Bad can see the white stag running between the trees alongside their car. Shadows dance over the shimmering light of it’s fur.
Somewhere after the towns border, the stag disappears back in the forest. But the air in the car stays light and fresh, saving the smell of old pines and dry leaves all though the night.
6) Skeppy and chaos
Well, after the whole mess in the main story, Skeppy definitely learned some lessons, especially about not being a dick :D
But the thing is – he can’t really help the fact that things tend to stir up around him a lot. He naturally brings in chaos into everything, because he is, in part, a personification, or an outlet for it in the world. And so, to feel, well and good, and himself Skeppy gotta do stuff that disrupts balance, and creates some mayhem. And in gave him a lot of trouble in early life, but in the course of the main story he learned that he can chose were he lets that chaos to take hold, learned what can come of that chaos, apart from utter misery.
Like, where it can help dismantle something destructive, and where – bring in the more positive change, that was already brewing, possible, but is stagnant for some reason.
Soooo, I can’t say Skeppy causes only minor chaos in his life, but he sure learns even more about not being a dick :DDDD
7) The studying
I think Bad will want to get a higher education at some point, because he wanted to, and because it’s already new millennia and all that. Bet he’ll go for something very technical and/or literature. Maybe he’ll start by piking up some classes in small time colleges, when they stop in one place for a while, and later get into an online program, because why not.
Skeppy is not a college guy at all. He’ll listen to Bad talk about it, read textbooks if he wants to, can research stuff, buuut going to classes and doing homework is definitely not his thing.
8) Stealing
Well, you’re right, Skeppy can and will steal stuff out of spite! And will be scolded by Bad for it, and will not feel (that) sorry about it. But real stealer between them will be Bad himself :D
It’s just… he has the corvid tendencies, and a hoard (a box) of sentimental mementos from different people and events, and the thrill of stealing something small and harmless is very exciting. Bad is very proud of his little collection. Skeppy finds it very adorable, a bit hypocritical, and kinda creepy. Like, that pretty box he gifted Bad at some point is now full of stuff like:
- pressed flower from the clearing they had a picnic at on their anniversary
- the button the waitress lost that one day the storm caused a black out in the whole town
- some small animal bones
- couple pretty rocks Bad stole from Skeppy’s pockets
- penny that was once glued to the ground
- a handful of teeth people (and not people) lost in fights with Bad
- pen from some fancy hotel
- rainbow dash keychain that belonged to a child
- the list goes on
9) Argument
Oh, that same day they’ll fight over whether they should stay at the really crappy and suspicious looking motel, or go sleep in a perfectly fine forest near the road. Ironically, Bad wanted to try out the motel (because, yay, first time spending the night back in civilization), and Skeppy was the one insisting on sleeping in nature (because the motel looks like it could give you 10 diseases if you even stand near it, and sleeping in the forest is kind of nice, and means they can cuddle).
10) Horses
The guys will probably ride them at some point. Well, Bad will ride, and Skeppy will sit on his horse and hope it knows what to do and where to go, because trying to make this giant thing do something seems dangerous. If they’ll have to actually go somewhere fast, Skeppy will not survive that day, his butt (and legs) will be dead for days to come.
And riding with Bad on one horse may sound romantic and nice, but all romance dies when the gallop starts.
F.
11) Skeppy and climbing
Skeppy is more down to earth kind of guy, more of a “rocks and caves” kind of creature, real-life lizard person or something. Up on the trees and in the air – not really his element, yeah. But it doesn’t mean that Skeppy will accept this fact easy. The embarrassment of never managing to safely make it down a tree is too strong, he just has to do it all over again, and again. And again. Because, clearly, he was distracted this time. And the time before that Bad was teasing him, and it “disrupted his flow”. And, really, maybe these trees here just do not like Skeppy much, and make him slip a lot. Yeah.
So, more often than not, if Skeppy climbs a tree, he will not stop climbing it until he falls, or the tree ends. Bad had to take him off high branches couple times, forcefully, because, of course, Skeppy was sitting there for 2 hours just to properly enjoy the sunset. He can climb down at any point, he just Choses not to. The view is amazing. The bark is literally part of his skin now, not because he holds on tight, no, he’s just Than Much one with the nature )<
---
Don’t apologize for the questions! It’s always so fun to answer them, and it makes me think more about stuff I may have skipped, or didn’t think about before. It’s really nice :3c
Again, thank you for the ask, and for being here for this story! <3
(And I’ll try setting timers for rest breaks while I draw, mb that will help)

You look cute

Tanizaki Junichirou x Tachihara Michizou
Tattoo parlor x Flower shop AU, meeting, fluff
Junichirou was a very simple person.
He loved his sister, his friends and his job.
He was a florist for one of the best flower shops in town.
Junichirou was currently working on a arrangement for one of their frequent customers. It was a old man that came by every week or so to get a small arrangement for his wife. They had been together for over 50 years now.
The redhead smiled down at the arrangement he just finished.
Their relationship is so sweet...I wish I could have that...
“Tanizaki! You’re back here, right?“
The man in question turned around to see his best friend Atsushi waving at him from the front of the shop.
The redhead nodded and walked out of the back room to the front the shop.
It wasn’t the biggest size wise and it was stacked with plants but it felt as much as home as the little apartment he and Naomi lived in.
„Aku is taking me out on a date. Could you cover my shift for today? Only if you're finished of course!“
„Sure thing, Atsushi! Don’t worry you’ll be fine!“
“Thanks you’re the best!“ the white haired boy then vanished into the back with a big smile on his face.
The older of the two looked at the closing door with a soft smile.
He had sadly been on the receiving end of most of his coworkers rants about this guy he constantly butted heads with but still somehow thought was kind of cute. It actually hadn't been that long ago when Atsushi had finally mastered the courage to ask Akutagawa out.
Junichirou was happy for him (also maybe because he wouldn't get random 3am calls of Atsushi screaming about said boy anymore...hopefully).
Since it was the late afternoon the shift didn't have many customers.
There was the old man coming to get his arrangement, a young man buying the classic (roses), a bride that came to check up on a few things and a mother and her little daughter who bought a couple of single flowers.
Junichirou helped them all and then sat back just scrolling on his phone.
He was just looking at the clock and realizing he should slowly start to close the shop, when the little bell above the stores door jingled.
The florist looked up to see a man standing slightly awkward in the door.
...a very handsome man.
He was around Junichirou's hight, with red hair some shades darker than Junichirou. The man wore a cropped green jaket and a white V-neck shirt as well as...a band aid on his nose?
Wierd fashion choice...b ut it doese look good on him.
He'd look good in everything.
Jun we don't even know his name!
I'm just saying!
Junichirou shook his head to get rid of his thoughts as he put on a smile again.
"May I help you?"
The man jumped a little but then went up to the desk at which the other redhead was sitting.
"Uh yeah. I think you can." Junicirou chuckled. "And how?"
The man rolled his eyes but his cheeks were tinted a light pink.
"I just need an arrangement for the front window of the place I work at." "Oh so you can say stuff that makes sense!"
Junichirou was usually not like this, especially to customers. He didn't know what it was about this guy that made it so easy for him to tease and joke but if he was honest...he liked it.
The redhead in front of him snorted and raised an eyebrow.
"So now that we've established that-" Junichirou stood up and grabbed his notebook and pen. "-what's the style you're going for?"
"Well it's a tattoo shop-" "The one down the street?" "-Uh yeah. Do you know it?"
The florist tapped his pen on the notebook.
"Yeah my coworkers boyfriend works there..." ,he mumbled as he walked over to some of the flowers in he coner that might be of intrest for the man.
"Oh-um well then if you've been there before you should know what type of aesthetic, I guess, we are going for, right?"
Junichirou hummed.
"'kay so I have some ideas. The thing is just you came very shortly before closing and frankly I have a sister at home that will beat the shit out of me if I'm not back on time so-"
The redhead went into the back to get his bag.
"_don't worry I'll have the arrangement finished tomorrow at noon. I'll just need you to write down your name and if you want it to be brought to the shop of course where the shop is. Please make it fast I can't be late."
The taller man in front of him looked slightly speachless but then seemed to regain his mind because he started writing the information down on the pice of paper JUnichirou had given him.
Tachihara Michizou, huh?
I'll remeber that...
Tachihara seemed to linger for a few seconds too long until he then turned around and walked to the shops door.
"Oh yeah by the way."
JUnichirou looked back up.
"You look cute." ,he winked. "Well see ya sometime, Red!"
JUnichirou just looked at the door closing with his mouth open.
"Wha-what the fuck just happned?!"
Honestly Junichirou was just confused.
He walked the short way to his and Naomi’s apartment without paying attention to anyrhing, nearly getting hit by a car.
He was so distracted that even completely ignored his sister who jumped to hug him the second he opened the door, which wasn’t good.
“Hey! Are you ignoring me?!“
“H-huh? Oh! Sorry Naomi!“
“Something must have happned at work today.“ the redhead could feel his cheeks heating up. „So I’m right!“
“Yeah ok ok you’re right.“ Junichirou walked around his sister into the kitchen, where he opened the cupboard to get out two bowls.
“So tell me!“
„You‘re a noisy one, aren’t you?“ „Hey! Don’t be mean to your adorable little sister!“
The siblings sat down as the water started to boil.
There was a comfortable silence between them even if Junichirou could practically feel Naomi‘s questions floating in the air.
“Ok it has to do with a customer.“ Naomi gave the happy little squeak she always gave when he told her, as she called it, „The tea“ from work.
“So I was just about to close where this guy came in.“ his sister seemed to visibly get even more intrigued.
„He was like really handsome. He was tall, had red hair, intense eyes and I’m pretty sure he wore eyeliner. He had an interesting fashion style and had a bunch of tattoos, because he works at the tattoo parlor Atsushi‘s boyfriend also works at.“
Naomi hummed with a smirk on her lips, as she held her head in her hands.
“Well he walked in last minute and asked for an arrangement for the front of their parlor. And of course I was like: „sure I’ll do it. It’ll be done by tomorrow just give me the name of the place and I’ll deliver it“, right?“ Naomi nodded.
“And everything is fine everything is normal.“ his sister raised an eyebrow. „Ok normal with a little bit more blushing.“
“Anyway! He walks out but just before he leaves he turns around to me and says, and I quote: „You look cute.“ and then he winked at me and left!“
The black haired girl in front of him gasped. „He winked?! No he didn’t!“ „Yes he did!“ „Oh god!“
The water was finally done boiling so Junichirou stood up to get it and finish their dinner.
“Well he seems to like you. Wait- did you get his name?“ „Uh- yeah I did. I need it for the delivery and everything, remember?“ „Yeah yeah. So what is it?“ „Tachihara…Michizou Tachihara.“
Even if Junichirou didn’t like the expression on his sisters face he just ignored it and sat down in front of her with the food.
„Good Morning Jun!“
„AHH Oh god Naomi don’t scare me like that!“
“Yeah yeah whatever. Come on I need to show you something!“
„Wait don’t I need to go to-wait it’s 6am. What the fuck Are you doing awake?“ „Pssst!“
Naomi basically ran through their small apartment dragging a very tried Junichirou behind her.
On the small couch the siblings own sat a girl with red glasses, long brown hair and tried looking green eyes.
Haruno, his sisters girlfriend.
„Good morning Haruno.“ „Good Morning Junichirou“, she said giving him a small smile. They suffered together by the hands of the one, Naomi Tanizaki.
“We found something out. Sit down.“ The black haired girl grabbed to open laptop sitting on the table in front of the couch.
With „we“ she probably mean Haruno, and she was just cuddling her half the time…
“Michizou Tachihara, 22 years of age, Tattoo artist. He’s currently single and a bisexual. He has been working at Port tattoo for about 2 or 3 years, not sure about that one. He’s pretty good friends with someone called Gin Akutagawa, but don’t worry they have a girlfriend.“
“Also before you ask: yes Gin is related to Atsushi‘s boyfriend. They are siblings“, Naomi‘s girlfriend piped up.
Junichirou was just stunned.
“Wha-what? When? How? Did you guys even sleep?!“
“No we did not but that is not important! What’s important is that we now know that he is single and probably attracted to you.“
He had no words.
Junichirou was distracted again.
He was just working on an arrangement for a handsome bisexual guy who told him he looked cute…
What the actual fuck?!
He took a step back.
The arrangement was beautiful, one of his best works he’d say.
A lot of dark blues and purples.
The hyacinths blending beautifully with the cornflowers. Just all in all pretty.
Sure he thought it was kind of embarrassing adding the cornflowers, he knew a lot about flower language after all but most of his customers didn’t really care especially for these types of jobs so the redhead bushed those thoughts to the back of his head.
Junichirou took a deep breath.
Lets do this!
Be confident!
He took the arrangement.
The walk wasn’t going to be long so it was fine for him to just carry it.
“Ok I’m off, Atsushi! See you in a bit!“ „Yeah sure thing, Tani!“
The walk to the tattoo parlor was blurr and now he was standing in front of it.
Oh fucking god-
Deep breaths Junichirou
Deep breaths
And he walked in.
“Hello how can I help you?“
The woman at the front was a little older than him, had blond hair that she had in a bun and had warm brown eyes. She looked nice.
“Uh I need to talk to uhm Tachihara?“
She eyed him a little bit visibly inspecting the vase in his hand.
She gave him a smirk.
“Yeah he should be free I’ll tell him.“
“Thank you…“
He had only ever been in here once. He had to wait in the front room as Atsushi and Akutagawa were at each other’s throats agin. Oh how happy he was they were dating now. Less fighting…less.
The place looked nice though.
Even if it had a rather cool color palette with a lot of blues, purples and blacks it still seemed very cozy and the seats were the softest things Junichirou‘s ass had ever touched.
Some of the work by the artist that worked here was displayed on the walls. These people were so goddamm talented.

...
8 Months Later...
...
"I have a plan. Okay. First, I sit next to Y/N on the flight."
"Mhm."
"Second,  I'm gonna buy a dual head phone adapter and watch movies with her the whole time."
"Okay."
"Three, when we go to Venice; Venice is super famous for making stuff out of glass right?"
"True."
"So I'm going to buy her a white gardenia necklace because it's a really pretty flower and... because... well-"
"Is it because of the-?"
"Because of its meaning yeah. Step 4 is when we're in Paris, I'm going to take her to the top of the Eiffel Tower, give her the necklace and 5, I'm gonna tell her how I feel. And 6, hopefully she tells me she feels the same way."
"And don't forget Step 7."
"Step 7?" Peter questions and clicks the top of his pen to write down Step 7, ears perked to listen to Ned.
"Don't do any of that."
Peter lets out an annoyed and frustrated sigh as Ned gave him a look that expressed 'what? what did i do?'
"Why?"
"Because we're gonna be bachelors in Europe Peter!"
"Ned."
"Look, I may not know much, but I do know Europeans love Americans."
Peter had little belief in Ned's statement that he scrunched up his face and looked at Ned.
"Really?"
"-And more than half of them are women!" Ned exclaims to make his point.
"...Sure but, I really like Y/N man. She's awesome, she's super funny like in a kind of dork way, and whenever she looks at me I feel like- she's coming over don't say anything!" Peter quickly shuts himself up.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
"Don't say anything!" Is the only thing you hear as you walked up to Peter and Ned's table.
"Sup guys? You excited for the science trip?" You greet them, rocking your body with a smile planted on your face, your assignment folder occupying your hands. Technically you got up from your, F/N's and MJ's table so you could photo copy your guy's group project but you heard Peter and Ned rambling about Europe and thought you could start up a conversation.
"Hey! Uh, yeah! We're just talking about the trip."
"Yeah and Peter's Plan." Ned confidently slides in the conversation.
Peter's Plan?
You stop moving and shift yourself to Peter, averting your eyes so yours meet his.
"...You have a plan? For what?" You nervously smile and laugh at him, playing with your bracelet on your wrist. The bracelet was silver but held a black cross (similar to a crucifix) in the middle of it.
"I- I don't have a plan." Peter mumbles, fiddling with his pen and looking at you with anxious eyes.
"No he's just gonna collect tiny statues while we're travelling to other countries." Ned blurts out and you can see he exchanged a look to Peter.
"I didn't know you liked-" You stopped speaking immediately, your response lost in your mind, something else distracting you.
You looked past Peter's head and your eyes meet with the dozens of drawings and tributes to Iron Man, to Tony and his sacrifice.
It seemed like yesterday you were on the battlefield, when you found out Peter was Spider-Man and all of those emotions and memories swept and flooded your mind in a tidal wave.
You can feel the whole room spinning even though your feet were planted on the ground, the voices of Peter and Ned fading as the sobs of Peter replaced them and Tony's dying breath.
It's been 8 months and you thought you had finally moved on from all the grief and suffering, the sleepless nights full of insidious nightmares and the suffocating feeling that came from all those panic attacks.
"You can rest now..."
"Did you photo copy it?" Someone asks and you whirl yourself around suddenly and possibly too fast, loosing balance and landing into someone's arms. F/N.
"Oh shoot sorry F/N I was talking to Ned and Peter about Europe and got side tracked?"
"It's okay! I was just checking since MJ was sorta getting antsy since she wanted it to all be done before you guys leave tomorrow." F/N beams at you, still holding you up.
"I-I'll go do it now-"
"Y/L/N, did you firstly ask me and secondly get a hall pass?" Ms. Warren spoke up and alarmed you. She was sitting at her desk and was staring at the 4 of you.
"N-No Ms. Warren..."
"I'll go!" Peter shot straight up from his seat. Ned shook his head and F/N laughed at his eagerness.
"No Parker you've got work to do. Y/L/N, Davis can take you."
Davis... Brad Davis?
Just on cue, Brad lifted his head up from being preoccupied at his desk and sent you a friendly smile and wave. He stood up immediately and from his demeanor, seemed over the top that the teacher asked him to escort you to the printers. He looked so familiar but no matter how heard you tried, you couldn't conjure where you'd seen him from.
Brad walked over to you and was still smiling from before so you nicely smiled back. Brad offered you to go first so you walked to Ms. Warren's desk and grabbed the huge hall pass with Brad trailing after you.
"We won't be long Ms. Warren!" Brad yelled out as he closed the classroom door.
You shot F/N a look that said 'okay guess i go and also what just happened?' and F/N shrugged back with no explanation and return back to MJ. You saw Peter looking at you as you left and saw him sigh heavily and immediately get back to his work. I hope Peter's okay.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
The cold, crisp breeze whirled through the dim lit streets of Queens as you walked back home;  the streets were always alive at night with people hurrying from one place to another, lights shine brightly, beaming against tall, towering buildings and billboards, apartments until rooftops could reach the sky. New York was always cold in the night and what lurked in the darkness was even colder. Robberies, assaults and muggings were a regular sighting in alleyways but with yourself as Saviour and Peter as Spider-Man, the number has been decreasing over time thanks to the both of you. School was weird today with the whole Peter and Ned thing and especially with Brad. He was nice taking you to the printers but he kept asking way to many questions about you and you caught him staring a couple of times... weird.
You gripped your coat tightly around you, wrapping it as much as you could around your body to fight the wind, shivers being sent down your spine. Your mind had been blurry lately; balancing the lifestyle of school, social life and duties into one while trying to properly rest and to be there whenever anyone needed you was a struggle; the biggest fear you had was if you just took one, innocent day off that'd you regret it for the rest of your life. You also found it hard to escape your thoughts,  insecurities and nightmares whenever you'd zoned out or even closed your eyes for a second. Despite it all you had your anchors though; the people who were holding you down from losing yourself from all the madness happening. You slip out a smile at the thought of those special individuals; friends that you put above anything or anyone else. Peter, Ned and even Michelle were all you had and all you were relying on to help you back up.
"Help! Someone!" A stranger cries into the night, pleading for a saviour, followed by the sound of gunshots and glass shattering.
Show time.
Reacting instantly, you check for your surroundings before fleeing into the shadows of a lonesome alley and with a single flick of your bracelet, it lets of a white glow, letting you know its activated.
"Hello Ms. L/N, how may I assist you tonight?"
"You know the drill ARIS: suit up."
"Right away Y/N."
On command, the familiar cool and sensational feeling of the nano tech being released from your bracelet began spreading all across your body; you loved the feeling of your suit coming alive just by wishing it, AI on the ready and that the suit was also with you, being a part of you.
As you relished in the moment your suit was fully on your body, you rushed out of the alleyway, concealing your true identity under your mask, prepared to fight,  you begin to follow the cries of the citizen in need.
You felt your heart beat and pace fasten, senses heightened and the adrenaline coursing through your veins.
A shift in your vision changes as you feel your pupils fill fully black and steady themselves with your mask lenses,  you exert all your energy into a singular jump and successfully land on the rooftop.
"ARIS, scan for location of activity."
"The distress signal appeared from 21st Street."
Ahhh, classic bank robbery.
"Okay ARIS, are all systems ready to go?"
"Affirmative. Initiating heads up display and initializing flight power."
You roll your head back and crack your knuckles, jumping up and down on the spot, ready for take off.
Nodding your head, you extend your arms out and feel the palms opening up and see the infinite blue glow from your thrustsers and feel the energy spreading and going to the soles of your suit.
Staring down the run way of the roof, you start walking before speeding up into a full sprint, running across the abandoned roof top. Steps quickening, you can see the end of the roof nearing with each step you take; you're going to jump. Before you know it you've leapt off the roof and it feels like time has stopped and you're floating on nothing; it's only you, the sky and the city's blurred noises and lights.
"Flight power fully restored."  ARIS states, crashing and hauling you back into reality.
The euphoria of you floating has started to turn into the immense awareness that you are plummeting straight down with such speed to the lively streets and roads of New York below.
Extending your arms and legs, you point them into the direction of 21st Street and hear the whirring of your suit taking control and then, you're off. You're flying, just like Tony did, in the late night sky of New York City to stop a robbery.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Positioning yourself, your eyes meet with the victim in front of you; the typical situation.
"Hey."
The criminals all stop with their actions and immediately turn their heads to you. The hostages look up at you with hope and desperate, tears of fear and joy being to stream from their eyes.
"Looks like you forgot your credit cards huh fellas?"
2 out of the 4 robbers stand up and you took the chance to fire an energy blast, distracting them you slide on your knees towards the captives.
"Go! Go!" You beckon as you freed them from their constraints, they hurried out of the door shouting 'thank you's'  and praises for your service and gratitude.
Getting up from the ground quickly, you turn around and see the 2 robbers running toward you.
You spring off the floor, back onto your feet and observe your surroundings; the 2 robbers are still sprinting towards you. You ball your fists and stance yourself ready to fight.
"Guys, guys, guys! You can either return back the money and nothing happens or we can do this the annoying and hard way."
One of the robbers racing towards you pulls back their gun and you hear a gunshot and feel a little ting and flick on your suit; the robber was really dumb enough to shoot you and your bulletproof suit.
"Well, guess you chose the hard way."
The 2 robbers still at full speed rush towards you but before they can even touch you, you step to the side and they loose control and crash into the wall.
"Ooooh! That's at least gotta leave a bruise.' You mock them.
You dart towards the fallen robbers, dizzy and dazed from the impact. You hit your right wrist twice on your suit and it opens up and greets you with what you were looking for; your trusty tool and invention of electric rope. The rope appeared as a blue wire with white sparks that shot out of it and you used it to tie up criminals and lets say if they were to hesitate or make a runner, they'd get a bit of a shock.
Grabbing the 1st and 2nd robber's hands, you wrap the wire around them both so they are both stuck together and unable to escape.
2 down, 2 to go.
The other 2 robbers that were still looting money had stopped since they'd heard the crash and the groaning of pain from the one's you'd taken on.
One robber stands up and places his fingers in his mouth and whistles.
You tilt your head in confusion but see that 3 more step out from the remaining safes.
"Aww brought more of your friends for me? How sweet..."
They all attack you at once, bullets ricochet off you and bounce back, flying back at them.
In unison they all duck down behind a counter from the bullets and curse out profanities and you take the opportunity to dash forward and leap onto the counter and land in front of them.
They all jump to their feet and a robber steps in front of you and tries to land a hit. You grab their arm and twist it and they let off a howl of anguish, you tasered him with your bracelet and flipping and throwing him to the floor.
Another takes his place and goes to hit you but one from behind tackles you and pins your arms, locking them in a firm and harsh grip.
Even through the suit, you can feel sharp fingernails attempting to latch and pierce you.
The guy in front of you clutches a solid grasp on both of your shoulders, forcefully yanks you down into his knee and hits your stomach. Already you can feel a bruise forming on your lower abdomen.
Jesus this one will be hard to cover...
You groan at the extensive, burning sensation building, your skin becoming tender and aching from the hit. The guy holding your arms down is tightening his grip and
"Given up huh Saviour?" The robber in front of you spits.
"T-that's the thing...." You let out a breathless chuckle, "I'm only getting started."
The robbers stare at each other and back before laughing furiously at you, the rest approaching you with guns.
What the robbers were thinking is that they'd won; they had successfully robbed Queens County Saving Bank and had taken down one of Queen's own superheroes. You on the other hand, had plans and knew perfectly well how criminal's minds worked; allow them to think they've won, they'll loose all focus and control on the situation, so you'd gotten them in the spot you wanted them: busy getting ready to celebrate a fake victory and not realizing the black smoke manifesting around them.
"As I said, I'm just getting started." A smirk lies on your covered face as you look deeply into the taunting robber's eyes full of bewilderment and fear.
The black smoke begins flurrying around your body finds it way around the robber's hands, instantly making him let go you. You lunge forward and punch the one in front of you with full power, he stumbles back and falls to the ground defeated. You then sharply turn and kick the other in the face.
The two out of the three still left go to attack you but you raise your arm in defense and send a gust of smoke flying to them. They stagger back and remain frozen as the smoke curls around and drags them to the ground. You rush over and deploy more of your rope onto the two and wrap it tightly around them, restraining them to the one place.
The last robber you spot is kneeling on the ground, trembling slightly with fear and piling as much money possible into one bag, trying to make a clean getaway.
Slowly and antagonistically, you make your way over to him and stand there, staring at him and waiting for him to notice. So busy and frantically he continues filling the bag he doesn't take care of his surroundings or even the cries of his comrades.
"I'll take that thank you." You cleanly snatch the bag and kick him to the ground with your heel.
He lands flat on his chest, hands out to the side you grab them and wrap them around once more.
People emerge from hiding and cry out cheers of joy and appreciation, a few giving you a pat on the shoulder, hugging you and the occasional asking for photos. The sound of police sirens ring in the distance, signaling its time to go. Waving your goodbyes, you turn to flee the scene but you hear and notice the vibration of a tap being played on your suit. You pivot back around and see one of the bank accountant's smiling frailly at you, evidently anxious and nervous in your presence.
"T-thank you so much Saviour, how ever can we repay you?" The accountant's eyes full of tears and lost distress begged.
"You don't need too; this is my job. Saving people's lives is what I do." You reply to the accountant, taking off into the night.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
"You did quite an excellent job tonight might I say so myself Y/N."
"Why thank you my Another, Rather, Intelligent System."
"Was that perhaps what you call, a flex?"
"...Yes ARIS, that was a flex." You mumble with a hint of embarrassment.
Currently soaring in the air with another criminal taken down, the fresh and cool wind rattles against you. Patrols were always 'relaxing' in a sense to you; gliding around the city and if your AI or you come to the attention of any law breaking activity, you swoop in (literally) and handle it. At times, you would bump into now and then into Spider-Man and the two of you mixed with your skills, would work together as a dynamic duo to take down the enemy. Queens loved and adored the both of you as individuals but as partners as well. Before knowing Peter was Spider-Man, there was a bit of tension and jealously and bickering from both of you: 'Dibs I had him first!' 'No, you know I patrol this area!' arguments occurred so many times that even the Avengers were pulled into it.
"I apologize for interrupting your thinking but it seems to be you have approximately 3 missed calls from your mother and from Pepper Potts accordingly."
Missed calls from Mum is bad but wait- Pepper called?
"W-when did they call ARIS? Any voicemails?"
"Your mother called to say to be home earlier from 'study group' to prepare for Europe tomorrow and that not to miss dinner again... which you did and Ms. Potts left nothing for you."
"C-can you auto text Mum that study group when longer than expected and that Y/F/N's offered dinner so I stayed and that I'll be home soon?"
"Already on it and for Pepper?"
"Don't text her anything."
"Text sent."
Pepper? The Pepper Potts? It's been 8 months; what does she want and is that Peter?
Drifting down from the air, you land quietly behind a wall and crouch down behind it,  peering out carefully and you see Peter in his Iron Spider suit, eyes red and wet with tears as he stares at a piece of graffiti.
What's so bad about- oh.
The piece of artwork was of Tony; no wonder he was so distraught.
"You okay Spider-Man?"
"Y-yeah, I j-just c-crashed into a w-wall?" His voice high pitched, obviously lying.
"Uh huh... mind if I sit?"
"O-oh uh... no! No, you can sit!"
Giggling at Peter's awkwardness, you slide next to him and take a seat. You knew something was wrong by the way he was breathing and that his eyes were wet and red but how do you bring it up?
"So..."
"So...?"
"H-how is everything Spidey?" God that was awful.
"T-things could be s-so much better... just, the whole Blip thing is, it's getting to me."
"Blip?"
"The Blip? W-where the alien guy on Titan s-snapped his fingers and e-everyone d-disappeared?"
"Wait that's called the Blip?"
"Well that's what everyone is calling it."
"It sounds better than something to do with a maniac murdering half of the Earth's population... plus it's easy to say and remember."
And for the first time in a long time, you actually heard Spider-Man and Peter laugh. It was more of a sad and dry chuckle but, at least it was something.
"I'm assuming you didn't hear about 21st Street then?"
"21st Street what now?"
"Just now there was a robbery; apparently some of uhhh, what's his name? The macho, pacho penguin looking guy? Sends out his henchmen to do all the dirty work?"
"K-Kingpin?"
"Yeah! Pretty sure that's the one! But, really? Kingpin? Sounds really dumb; reminds me of bowling or something instead of an evil business man."
"His head does look like a bowling ball..." Peter murmured quietly.
You smiled brightly and threw your head back as you laughed; that's the Peter and Spider-Man I know.
From his mask, you could tell he was smiling since the corner of his mouth was showing the little peaks from out of it.
Your and his laughter began to die down you two just stayed silence  and looked up into the cloudless sky.
"It's beautiful isn't it?"
"It really is... makes my night."
"And mine as well, I mean besides your company." Spider-Man, well more like Peter coughed, trying to cover up what he said.
"T-thank you though.. this was a nice chat Saviour. Not to alarm you or anything, but I'm not gonna be here much longer-"
"W-woah, what the hell do you mean-"
"N-no! Sorry, I worded that wrong don't panic! What I meant to say is I'm not going to be here because, I'm going on vacation."
Parker I swear...
You lightly hit his shoulder and let out a breath of relief. "Don't scare me like that! I did not need that!"
"S-sorry! B-but yeah... I'm going on vacation.. can you handle Queens without me?"
"I already do. Besides, there's always the other Avengers who can."
"Y-yeah... the Avengers... a-anyways Saviour, I-I'm gonna go now. I'll s-see you soon?"
"See ya Spidey and don't go crashing into any walls!"
"When did I- oh."
"Ratted yourself out. Bye Spideyyyyy!" You call out and wave as you watch him swing away and make tracks home yourself.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
"I dunno how I did it, but I snuck back in ARIS."
"Well, your mother is asleep-"
"Shhh lemme have this!"
"... Congratulations Y/N."
"Thank you ARIS-"
"Even though I do not condone this behaviour."
Rolling your eyes, you shrug your body and switch your bracelet and your suit slowly peels away from your body, the nano- tech shrinking so it all fits inside the bracelet. You stretch your body but wince from your stomach. Cautiously, you lift your shirt and see the enormous bruise left on you from the robber and his knee.
Bye, bye crop tops...
Plopping yourself on your bed, you lie down and sigh in exhaustion. Closing your eyes slowly, you feel yourself falling to asleep. Until the chime of your best friend's ringtone plays from your phone which causes you to lurch up and open your phone to look at the text.

Apocalypse: Sanctuary - Chapter 2
Read on AO3
Just because your roommates are horrible doesn't mean you all can't have a good time now and again... just don't tell Venable.
Hey guys. this scene is pretty short in comparison with my other chapters thus far. It didn't blend well with the other things I have planned, but I thought it was important to show the good times at Outpost 3 as well as the bad. Consider it a palette cleanser for what is to come. Michael will be here by Chapter 4...
Tumblr media
The excitement over the idea of salvation by the cooperative was a short-lived joy. After months of listening to “The Morning After” by McGovern over and over and over was enough to make the residents of Outpost 3 question their sanity as well as their conviction.
Em walked into the salon, her hands wrapped around a collection of pens she had been able to scavenge from her room. She pulled at the obnoxiously high collar of her white shirt. Whenever evening wear wasn’t an obligation, she liked to dress in as few layers as she could — Victorian underwear and a dress that made her look like some governess of orphaned children in a period drama.
Swinging the door open, she stopped in her tracks. The room was usually devoid of life except for the 6 o’clock “cocktails.” Andre sat there on the couch, his back to her as he stared into the fire.
The brunette debated turning on her heels, but by the time she took a step back, it was too late. Andre’s head turned, hair raising on the back of his neck as he sensed her green eyes boring into his back. He wondered if she would go away if he ignored her long enough, but curiosity got the better of him His head turned ever slightly and Em pretended like she had meant to be seen by the man.
Heels clicked against the wood flooring, only a few steps before pausing at the edge of the large black coffee table between the two large dark sofas.
Two months after Stu’s death and his cheeks were still damp with tears. His red eyes burned her, anger unyielding. She was deserving of his hate... even more so than the others. Just as she couldn’t reassure him of Stu’s safety she could not tell him of her guilt. At least the others showed remorse and disgust at their own actions.
Em tried to speak with Andre on multiple occasions, but her words came out hollow. Anything she said was just to chase off her own guilt. At one point she had mistakenly reminded Andre that he had also eaten from the stew... it didn’t end well.
Needless to say, these days, the only person he spoke to was Dinah.
There was so much anger and grief twisting inside him. He wanted to scream and throttle Venable damn the consequences. At least then he’d be reunited with the man he loves... loved. One meal and the bonds made in good faith and mutual tragedy were fractured with the crack of a whip.
Em wished he would just verbally eviscerate her like he did Evie. His silence was suffocating. Instead, they stood in awkward silence. She really wasn’t good at this.
“So…” Em trailed, leaning back on her heels and biting her lips as she thought of what to say. Another apology would sound insincere and they both knew it would end them right back where they began.
“So,” Andre mocked, scoffing as he turned back to the fire.
Em rose a hand as if to reach out to him, mouth opened before closing it once more. Her hand reached out to him before drawing back, hand running through her hair then returning to her side.
“What’s it like having Dinah Stevens as a mother?”
Another scoff, followed by his gaze flickering up and down her with disdain.
She finally settled on the couch opposite him, “Sore subject… fair.”
“Also literally asked by every person I’ve ever met.”
Mc nodded, “basic.”
“Yup,” Andre said, popping the “p.”
Fiddling with the pens in her hand, Em racked her brain for something to say. It was a curse, anxiety. It made everything seem much worse than it was and was often accompanied by an overwhelming desire to be liked by everyone… well… almost everyone. Involuntary cannibalism would have been considered some of the worst, but it pales in comparison to nuclear winter.
Her leg bounced up and down and her eyes flickered from the fire to the ceiling to Andre and back again. Usually, in these moments she’d take out her phone, pens could only distract one for so long.
“God, I wish we had alcohol,” She sighed.
“Amen to that.”
The door creaked open. Em jumped to her feet, holding back the urge to run towards Emily as she quietly closed the door behind her. It felt like an eternity before she turned around. A smile lit up Emily’s face and she waved a collection of paper she had been able to find.
“Ready?”
Relief rolled off Em, tension leaving her shoulders as they can to settle around the coffee table. There was plenty of room, but Em still found it more comfortable to sit on the floor, skirt billowing around her like a puddle of purple. She took a pen and piece of paper and leaned over the table.
“You start. Give me a band.”
Emily’s lips twisted and her nose scrunched as she thought, “… The Beatles.”
Em scribbled down the name and tore it from the rest of the paper, placing it in a small wooden box Emily had brought with her. She grabbed a paper and pen of her own and turned to Em. “Now you.”
“Panic at the Disco.”
“Why am I not surprised.”
Em couldn’t help the laugh that left her, “shut up. You said The Beetles.”
“What? It’s a classic.”
Andre’s attention turned from the fire to the pair sitting across from him. He would have left, but after months and months of doing nothing but waking up and waiting to sleep again he was dying for something different.
“Lady Gaga,” Em said.
“Madonna.” Emily countered.
“Justin Bieber.”
“Justin Timberlake.”
“What are you doing?” He finally asked after a few more rounds of them shooting random words back and forth.
“Pictionary,” Emily answered him with a smile, cheeks flushed from laughing, “Em had the idea.”
“Pictionary?” Andre asked, slowly scooting closer, “Is that a game?”
“Yeah!” Em answered, “My siblings and I used to play it all the time. Right now we’re coming up with random things to go in a hat.”
She motioned to the box slowly gathering more and more strips of paper, “The game is to pick one of these and try to draw it while your teammates guess what it is.”
“So like art charades?”
“Pretty much!”
A small smile flickered to Andre’s lips as he stood up and came to sit beside Emily.
“Okay. I have one: Dinah Stevens.”
“Oooh,” Em awed, pointing a pen at Emily and Andre, “that’s a good one. Should we do one for each resident?”
Emily shrugged, “I don’t see why not.”
“How angry do you think Coco would be if we put her in there?” Andre asked, grabbing a pen and paper of his own.
Em looked like the Cheshire Cat, smiling ear to ear, “Furious,”
“Let’s do it.”
As the hours passed, more and more residents joined. A few Greys even whispered ideas into Em’s ear as they passed and she would scribble them in and throw them in the box. Em finally took a seat on one of the couches, Timothy and Emily on her right and Coco to her left.
“Okay!Okay!” Em exclaimed as people yelled things at her all at once, “One at a time! Give me stuff. Movies, books, albums, famous people, sayings. Coco! Go!”
“Michel Jackson!”
Em scribbled down the name and tossed it into the pile of paper that threatened to spill from the small box, “Alright! Now… Emily!”
“To Kill a Mocking Bird!”
She nodded as she scribbled it down, “… and since I’m Emily squared I get to go next.”
Gallant groaned, “oh, c’mon!”
“Hey!” Em snipped, smiling as she swung a pen at the man who could only smile and laugh at her antics, “I’m the one with the pen. My pen, my rules!”
Coco leaned over Em, “What are you writing?”
“Stevie Nicks!”
Leaning back in his seat, Gallant draped an arm across the back of his chair, perplexed, “Isn’t that the woman that sings Jolene?”
“NO!” At least five people yelled in unison, quickly falling into a collection of giggles.
Em feigned insult, “how can you mistake Dolly Parton with Stevie Nicks.”
Gallant waved a dismissive hand, “We aren’t all from the countryside of Georgia.”
“I was raised near Atlanta, thank you very much,” Em jested, “I’m only a quarter country girl.”
“Do you have those shirts that say: ‘don’t talk to me until I’ve had my sweet tea?’” Coco asked, hands spreading out like she was hanging up a banner.
Em couldn’t keep her smile down, “That was one time!”
“Uh-huh,” Gallant laughed, “Suuure it was.”
The brunette grabbed an extra pen and chucked it at the man. She couldn’t recall the last time she’d laughed like this. God knows none of them had even been in a room together without mandatory attendance.
Timothy sat at the edge of the group. He shuffled through the cards they had made, sorting them so they’d fit in the box. “I think we’ve filled out the last one.”
Coco looked around at everyone, “So… we get to play now?”
“Not today,” Emily declared, smiling at Timothy as he held out the box for her to place the top on it. Coco, Andre, and Gallant booed them.
“Look,” Em defended Emily, hands wringing at her wrists “I know y’all were just spitting out words, but I had to write them all down. My poor wrist needs a break.”
“Oh boo-hoo,” Coco said.
“Half the fun is not knowing what’s coming,” Timothy reminded, his eyes not leaving Emily. Em could tell he was smitten with her. Poor boy didn’t know how to hide anything.
“Well I don't know about y’all,” Andre spoke, mocking Em’s slight accent as he rose from the couch, “But I’m going to take a nap.”
“I agree, y’all,” Gallant jumped on, dodging another pen Em threw in his direction.
“Words are an illusion created by humanity,” She jested, earning a dismissive wave from the hairdresser as he walked out the door, “It’s conventional!!”
Coco sighed and laid back on the couch, closing her eyes as she began to whine “I wouldn’t mind the constant hunger if it didn’t come with the constant tiredness.”
Em looked to Timothy and Emily. The latter rolled her eyes.
“I feel like I’m back in college,” Em said, leaning back on Emily, “Eating sleep for dinner.”
She could feel Emily’s shoulders shake as she laughed. Timothy took a seat on the other side of the coffee table, resting on the arm of the chair, “C’mon. It couldn’t have been that bad.”
“I spent finals week eating only spoonfuls of peanut butter. Then the next year I bought a Costco-sized thing of ramen noodles.”
Emily leaned back her head and groaned, “Don’t talk about food. Even ramen noodles make my mouth water.”
Somehow, Em had made her way from leaning on Emily’s shoulder to having her head in the other girl’s lap. Emily’s hands absentmindedly ran through the brunette’s short bob which was growing longer by the day.
“Oh!” A memory struck Em like a lightning bolt, “my friend took me to an authentic ramen place before the bombs.”
She hummed at the mere thought of the food, “Best. Thing. Ever. They had special ramen eggs and topped it off with a slab of pork that just fell apart—”
Coco jumped from her seat with a huff, “You’re all sadistic!”
The three of them watched as the blonde stormed across the room, door slamming behind her with a loud bang which made their bones shake. Then they looked to each other, biting their lips but ultimately falling into laughter.
“If I knew it was that easy I would have done it months ago,” Emily laughed.
“C’mon,” Timothy tried to be the voice of reason, trying to keep a straight face but ultimately failing, “That’s just mean.”
“So is Coco,” Em scoffed, reaching for a glass of water, “it’s not like we threatened to kill her.”
“You did,” Emily reminded.
The other girl paused in her movement and pointed up at her, “Mead said ‘murder’, not me. I said I’d come for her… I didn’t specify how.”
Timothy sighed and shook his head while Emily only looked at him with a smile.
“At least we have each other,” Emily noted.
Em smiled at that, finally sitting up, “The Three Musketeers!”
“All for one and one for all,” Timothy said.
Emily sighed, “God knows Venable won’t do it.”

Note
This is a weird one but I'm curious. With werewolf stories there come a couple of cliches/tropes used when telling a story. I want to do a story about cliches and the topic of werewolves come into it. So my question... what cliches/tropes do you associate with werewolves? Can be what you like or don't like - thanks and sorry for such a weird ask ^^
(Sorry this took me so long to get around to; I really need to catch up on my ask backlog.)
I love all asks, including weird ones! Not that I’d call this one terribly weird, really.
There are a lot I associate with them, and plenty I do not like. Let me see if I can do a quick list. I said “quick” when I first wrote this post, then I wrote a small book, apologies in advance.
Note that pretty much any of these can be done well, and I’ll probably mention that. But there are some I truly cannot abide on a personal level.
One of these lists is longer than the other. Note I am doing tropes I actually have seen in popular culture, not ones I’d like to see, since that’d be a totally different topic and an even longer post! I also have a post here for a few little tips about writing werewolves/werecreatures.
Ones I like:
Eating people - Okay, so it was weird to open with this. But I like werewolves that eat people. Some people don’t. I do. I like them being big scary man-eating monsters. They can eat people and still be good (only eat bad people!), or they can be feral monsters with a taste for human flesh. I just like werewolves that eat people because… I just do. I also like them eating people alive in every sense of the word, as I covered in another fact (but not being mega stupid about it like wolves often were in later folk tales).
Voracious in general/insatiable - And taking off that first one, I do like werewolves that are voracious in general and/or have insatiable appetites. It’s a wolf trope, yeah. But I love it. The normal guy eats a steak. The werewolf eats like 8 giant steaks and is hungry again in a few hours. It’s fun!
Werewolves as wolves - In contrast to one on the list of things I don’t like, I enjoy werewolves exploring their wolfish side and/or exhibiting it, even in human form. It can be done horribly, of course, and I think it is immensely, endlessly silly when all werewolves in a setting are this way, but a few of them ending up like this (especially ones closer to their wolf side somehow) can be great. I am biased, of course, because the protagonist in a series of medieval fantasy werewolf novels I’ve been working on my entire life is a lot like this. The instincts, the love of raw meat… all that stuff. Not the overly silly stuff (more on that in “werewolves as dogs” and “dog jokes,” but the interesting, badass, wolfish stuff.
Moon association - I do actually like the pop culture association with werewolves and the moon.
Werewolves as guardians/protectors - This is a fairly rare one, but I do enjoy it when werewolves are guardians or protectors of something, like goodness in general, or guardians of nature, and all that sort of thing. Now, if they’re just guardians to some macguffin thing or some other very specific thing and it turns them into basically guardian golems or something? That’s pretty lame. But it can be cool. And werewolves as protectors of the innocent, that kind of stuff (like occurred in legend pretty often, as I’ve mentioned in several werewolf facts).
Dark forests - I love me some classic dark forest setting with a werewolf in it, and a distant, chilling howl when in creepy, foggy woods at night.
Loyal to the core - A trope among some werewolves is that they are super loyal. I like that.
Bloodthirsty - This doesn’t mean “evil,” this just means… well, bloodthirsty. I don’t like it as a trait for “all” werewolves, like all werewolves in a setting, but a bloodthirsty werewolf character, always itching for a fight and enjoying the smell of spilt blood? I have biases. My protagonist in Wulfgard is one, and I love them.
Basically the Hulk - The Hulk would be awesome if he was a werewolf, because he’s a lot of my favorite werewolf tropes. You won’t like him when he’s angry/volatile temper that will destroy everything, but when turned, he’s actually a good, gentle giant who saves people, despite his own opinions about his other form. (I am talking classic Hulk; newer Hulk stuff has, IMO, not reflected this very well, or else chosen simply not to do that/explore it)
Painful/traumatic transformation - I love painful transformations. I do not like some kinds of transformations (I detest the skin flaying/wolf bursting out of a person/etc), but make it hurt. Make them scream. Traumatize anyone who has to see or so much as hear it and traumatize the werewolf if they remember it. I am cruel.
Werewolf angst - Okay, so I know a lot of people in werewolf circles moan about “werewolf angst.” I like it. There. I said it. It can be done horribly, of course, and it’s often overused, but this is absolutely no reason to condemn it altogether. It can still make for a truly awesome story.
Noble werewolves - A personal favorite, obviously!
Werewolves are sexy/more attractive than most people - I mean. I’m okay with this. I like the whole primal sexiness thing, as silly and overdone as it can be at times. Don’t you want someone with a wild side? And all that.
Involuntary transformation - I also like this in general. It can be done horribly, just like anything else, but usually I like it a lot and prefer it to werewolves just being a superpower you can flick on and off (although those can be done well, too, for sure, and I do not dislike voluntary transformation).
Ones I do not like:
Dog jokes (barking, sniffing crotches, peeing everywhere, chasing things, etc.) - Unpopular opinion time! Get all of this away from me. Far away. It is not funny, it is so old and worn out and absolutely overused and predictable now, and can we please stop turning werewolves into jokes and actually take them seriously ever? It’s truly terrible and the biggest factor that set me on this path to try to convince the world to take werewolves seriously again. And the second a werewolf barks, I am out and you will never see me again. Wolves. Do not. Bark. (It felt very good to vent this, even if I will probably get trolled and flamed into oblivion later.)
Werewolves as dogs - Generally having any dog-like qualities; goes hand in hand with the previous one. Please at least treat them like wild animals, because they are wolves, not domesticated. They do not have domesticated dog instincts. They do not have domesticated dog qualities. They are half man, half wolf.
Plague - I do not like this modern idea that werewolves are basically disease victims, especially since lycanthropy was not considered a “disease” until fairly recently. That they are only dangerous because they are diseased, not because they’re giant hulking intelligent monsters that can kill you with ease and are borderline invincible. I don’t mind the “lycanthropy as a disease” thing, or the transmission by bite - I think it can be done well and I use the bite transmission myself. I just do not think it should be presented as a plague, and anything that uses phrases like “werewolf infestation” will immediately raise my ire. Werewolves are not plague rats.
Only dangerous in packs and/or giant hordes like zombies - This goes a lot with the previous one. In a lot of things, werewolves are only dangerous in giant hordes and are basically zombies. I also don’t like the idea that werewolves are only dangerous in a pack. An individual werewolf should be more than capable and terrifying enough on its own.
Always evil - I hate this so much. This is easily one of the main things I am fighting against with werewolves. That’s all I have to say, except for things I have already said, and unless I want to rewrite my entire 150+ page thesis here in this blog post.
Werewolves as just plain stupid - This infuriates me. This is a thing for wolves and werewolves alike: they are often just stupid. Dumb. Unintelligent. They do dumb things. In folklore, the wolf is even described by scholars from the Middle Ages as “stupid.” That is absolutely ridiculous. Werewolves were very smart in folklore, and in fact that was a huge part of what made them scary (their human intelligence), and not the modern day “don’t worry it’ll bash itself against the wall in a mad fit until it dies” werewolves.
Scared of fire and/or weak to it - Berserkers and some other werewolves were specifically described as being “immune to fire.” And why would a werewolf be scared of fire, like someone waving a torch around? They’re half human. They know what fire is.
Random encounter/common monster - Werewolves should be powerful, scary, and viewed with at least some amount of awe. There shouldn’t be something such as monster hunters hoping for “a run-of-the-mill werewolf attack.” There should be nothing run of the mill about werewolves, that cheapens them immensely. A werewolf or werewolves shouldn’t be the random encounter you roll in your tabletop game (they are also often immensely low level and it pains me), because that’s also cheapening them into simple, unscary, uninteresting cannon fodder.
Werewolves as sexual predators/serial killers/cannibals/crazy people in general - This came from werewolves being turned into crazy people/being a werewolf being considered merely a form of madness. It’s… bad. It helped spawn the whole “all werewolves are evil” thing that the Early Modern Period tried to popularize (and succeeded), and werewolves were never associated with sexual assault, etc. And yes, I know of the “werewolf trials” that were rebranded into werewolf trials that were about people who did things like that, but those were witches (more on the main culprit here).
Werewolves vs vampires - It’s very overdone. It can be done well, but it usually isn’t, and it’s considered the “default” today despite having no folkloric precedence and that just kind of irks me. It also considerably cheapens them both and makes pretty much all the characters of either type just end up revolving around each other and/or the conflict in some way or another, and they basically never get to be their own character(s).
Association with Victorian England - I am very tired of this one.
Association with demons and/or witches - Werewolves are not unholy and they’re so much more than just witches. The latter is a theme throughout my werewolf facts.
“I’m not actually a werewolf”/Just call them werewolves - Okay, so this is a pretty big irksome one for me. A werewolf is a werewolf is a werewolf. Werewolf means someone who turns into a wolf or wolf-man hybrid. “Wolf shifters” are werewolves, regardless of if they follow Hollywood werewolf tropes (because those are just Hollywood, too!). Worgen are werewolves. You don’t have to call them something weird in order for them to be cool and/or to justify them not holding to Hollywood werewolf tropes, especially since most things call vampires “vampires” and that’s just fine. Let’s remove the weird stigma around the word “werewolf” (back to the not taking them seriously thing, and in some cases, assuming they are all/making them all evil). This also applies to things like Twilight (side-note: I do not hate Twilight), where the “werewolves” turn around and say oh, no, we’re not werewolves, we are just people who turn into wolves [which is what werewolves are], werewolves are evil. Right, okay.
Gornography - I like werewolves and gore just fine, don’t get me wrong. Werewolves would maul people. Yes. They are huge and have huge claws and fangs and they’d be covered in blood. Werewolves and gore is awesome. But I do not like werewolves existing solely for the gore shock value and/or people who are into all the gore. They are often cheapened in this way, and it’s lame.
Werewolf names - I mean, sometimes they’re okay, and they can be done well. But Remus Lupin? Fenrir Greyback? Ms Lupescu? Can… we please make the werewolf character(s) have any character traits other than “I’m a werewolf!”? And maybe they shouldn’t broadcast their lycanthropy to the world. Characters with names like these come across as insanely contrived, namely (pun intended) if they aren’t born as werewolves to proud werewolf parents who want to name their kid(s) something like that. If they were turned later in life? That’s… convenient. And names like that really imply they are one-note characters, whether they really are or not (though they often are, sadly).
Werewolves super easily and sometimes instantly killed - “All we need is a [one] silver bullet!” says pop culture. Good grief. Gimme a break.
The werewolf always dies - This is a thing. The werewolf always has to die. Individual werewolf, a group of werewolves… they always die and/or are wiped out. The Wolf Man (1941) kind of started this, and everyone picked up on it (look at the overwhelming majority of horror movies after that, with a rare exception of Wolf [1994]), right down to werewolf side characters like the ones in Harry Potter and The Graveyard Book. For some reason, the werewolf and/or werewolves usually have to die, and often we see an end to the “curse.” Put frankly, that’s lame. This is one of many reasons why I love that Red Riding Hood (2011) movie so much (I have another post on that, for anyone interested).
Okay, so not all of those are tropes, but I had an opportunity to rant and I’m afraid I went and took it. Sorry!
I, of course, can be made to like most any werewolf as long as they are scary, intimidating, preferably big, do not have to work in groups in order to be formidable at all (a single werewolf should be a huge problem), are taken seriously (preferably no dog jokes; dog jokes instantly fill me with primal rage because they are dumb and overused and cheapen werewolves immensely and I hate them and sorry if that was candid), are not plague rats/zombie plague (there are not thousands of them in droves, are only dangerous in hordes, and are slaughtered en masse with great ease, and are only dangerous because they can “infect” others), aren’t always villains, don’t always have to die, and… that somewhat covers it. And I already said those things. Why did I repeat myself? I really dunno.
*deep breath*
That doesn’t cover all of the tropes on either side, by any means - I think about werewolves all the time, so I could definitely think up more, and I’m sure there are a lot more out there. But this is a honkin’ big list anyway, so it’s good for starters. Hope that helps! And thank you for asking. :D

I had books that I either loved or hated so idk maybe I need to do another unhaul to ensure I read books I'll actually enjoy.
1- OtherEarth (Otherworld #2) by Jason Segel
🌟🌟
So this was a big disappointment. It started out fine, but I had this bad feeling about what the twist of this book would be about 50% into it, and then the twist comes and it was just as bad as I feared. Honestly I don't even know if I wanna continue with the last book, I have it but honestly I can't say I am looking forward to it, it wasn't just the plot that fell down but the characters felt pretty inconsistent and yeah not a fan.
2.- Fireborne (The Aurelian Cycle #1) by Rosaria Munda
🌟🌟
The only thing I knew going into this was that it was inspired by Plato's Republic and that it was similar to Game of Thrones, so maybe that is why I found it pretty underwhelming. Like yeah I could see why it was based off the Republic with this system of education (tbh I still found it pretty basic and very much alike to other social systems I've read in other YA books) and there was some intresting tid-bits but not enough to keep me intrested. Now the characters, I liked both individually (unpopular opinion but I liked Annie more, I thought she had real potential but it was wasted because the moment she and Lee have this romance her character completely lost herself on thinking about him and what he did all the time) but I do not think they worked together romantically. There is some potential drama for book 2 but I am not intrested in reading it.
3.- The Mistress (The Original Sinners #4) by Tiffany Reisz
🌟🌟🌟🌟
This book was so good. Yeah it was super predictable, but the drama tho. I really loved Layla, she gave us an outsider's insight on Søren and Nora's relationship, and she is just the sweetest that I instantly knew she and Weasley were gonna get together. I cried at that last confrontation scene with Nora and Marie Laure and I am so happy that Nora is back together with Søren because they are truly a good couple despide everything.
4.-Gods of Jade and Shadow - Silvia Moreno Garcia
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I LOVED it. Ever since I saw the cover I was sold. This book I feel like it was meant for me. Like our protagonist Casiopea Tún is a dark skinned mexican girl of mayan descent in the 1920s who meets one of the lords of Xibalba and goes on a quest to help him retake his throne???? And on the way he falls in love with her so much he is about to forfeit his divinity to have a chance to be with her. I just, it was so beautiful, I felt my culture was really represented here, and it's so wierd to see the 1920's represented in Mexico I don't believe I had read something like this before and I will read anything Silvia Moreno Garcia writes from now on. Hopefully we will have a second book for this because that ending makes me wonder what adventures Casiopea will have.
5.-Little Gods by Meng Jin
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This book blew my mind. The structure is perfect for the themes . Su Lan was a truly fascinating character though I felt very sad about her, always wanting to escape her past and thinking she was so undeserving for anything good in her life and still fighting to go on. The ending was so good, and all the cast of characters made an excellent conection between the past and the future.
6.- As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Yeah I am a pretentious ho. I was very intimidated by this book (and anything written by Faulkner really) and I was really having trouble understanding the book at first because the prose is so particular (there are sentences that read like Shakespeare, some are almost Biblical stuff and then most of the dialogue is this very coloquial english with very poor ortography) and as English is not my first lenguage I struggled. But then we get to Addie's death and all this odyssey the family goes through to bury her, and it was so beautiful and exciting. I especially loved everything about Addie's chapter, she was so much better than her husband and she deserved better than what she got. I really liked Dewey Dell and Darl. While I hated Anse Bundren with a passion so the end really made me angry like waaaaat this selfish asshole gets everything he wanted and then some??? But I got why it made sense for the book. So I definitely recommend this, but my advice is to let yourself glide through the book, do not try to understand or make sense of it as you start it because then you become frustrated like it happened to me at first but it's a really beautiful book so I am really considering reading more Faulkner.
7.-Chosen (Slayer #2) by Kiersten White
🌟🌟🌟🌟
I enjoyed this book so much. It's a very easy read and we get some growth on Nina and Artemis. I liked the idea of the Watcher's Castle being a refuge for inofenssive demons. And omgggg I fangirled SO hard when Oz, Harmony and Clem appeared (my fave characters, like literally I only need a Spike cameo in these books to be completely happy). I really wanna see Nina meet Buffy in real life and ahhh I am excited for whatever the next book will bring us.
8.-Out of Salem by Hal Schrieve
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This is perharps my favorite book I read this month. It felt so relevant to things that are happening in the world, but escapist enough to bear it. For starters I love a good urban fantasy setting, and this was it. Z was a great non-binary protagonist (the fact the author is also non-binary also helps) like it was pretty original to make them a zombie when necromancy is viewed as wrong in their society and they get discriminated for it even though they knew nothing about how it happened to them. And their friendship with Aysel (lesbian muslim werewolf girl!!!) and Tommy (shapeshifter boy) was amazing. Like the way this book translates real life bigotry and social injustice to this magical creatures was truly amazing I recommend it to everyone of any age. Especially middle graders as this book is meant for that age group and I feel this is an amazing diverse read for that age group.
10.-Riot Baby by Tochi Onyebuchi
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
A book so relevant in our current times. So powerful and impactful even if the book is pretty short. We get to see how the systematic racisim at work. We get to get a glimpse of this awful reality through Kev and Ella, two gifted siblings that have lived this experiences in different ways and they cope with this in vastly different ways.It was such an intimate read I cannot begin to describe how angry and sad it made me, but also very glad I got to read it because we need to keep being aware that this is the reality for black people all around the world and they don't get to shy away from it so we shouldn't either we should see, learn and fight as hard as we can to change things for the better.
11.-Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I re-read this book to have it fresh in my mind before the new series airs on July. And I liked it better now than the 1st time. This world is so scary because I see so many realistic elements it shares with the present. I felt a lot for Lenina (for everyone who lives in this world really) because she wanted more than what the society had to offer yet was so deeply conditioned as to what was right that she could just supress her emotions with soma. This book is of course full of racist and sexist stuff (cuz woman and indigenous people can never win) but I feel it helps to get a feel about how fucked up society is as a whole. In the reservation woman are subjected to the usual slut shaming and gender roles we get in our society while in London we get a world in which woman are judged for not sleeping around and being happy and infantile. Like it seems controling woman and their relationship to intimacy and sex is always a bit theme is classic dystopic books which makes a lot of sense given it works like that in the real world too. Same thing with indigenous people being treated as savage to congratula te ourselves for being so much more "civilized" never stopping to think how deeply fractured and flawed this may be. We also get explotation and brain washing of working classes and all that fun stuff. Really and amazing book eerily accurate tho.
12.-Brick Lane by Monica Ali.
🌟🌟🌟🌟
This is the story of 2 very different Bangladeshi sisters with very different temperaments making their way through life. Nazneen is a very dutiful daughter that marries the man her father picked for her, moves to London, though her husband doesn't make her happy she tries very hard in this foreign country with so many desires of her own she wishes that she always supresses because of her upbringing. Then we have Hesina, she was always beautiful and runs away with a guy she was in love with, later he abandons her and she gets jobs and loses them because different man keep making her fall for them to abandon them later. Different as they are this 2 Sisters keep relying in each other through letters. I thought it was very moving, and I really liked the ending for Nazneen while Hasina left me feeling worried and unhappy.
13.- Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir
🌟🌟
I was very hyped for this book and I am so sad I didn't like it. I just didn't feel the world building was cohesive (we have space travel but we don't have baths??? And rapiers as weapons??? Most of it felt like aesthetic decisions) the characters felt very one dimensional to me. And the plot was all over the place, just when I thought I knew what it was about it takes another turn and introduces so many generes but it did not feel natural at all so yeah I will not be reading the next one.
14.- Luces de Bohemia de Ramón Maria del Valle Inclan
🌟🌟🌟🌟
Me pareció una obra maravillosa. Definitivamente captura el espíritu creativo bohemio.
15 .- Don Juan Tenorio de José Zorrilla
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The first couple minutes of High-Rise were a little weird to follow, but they at least made sense. The beginning was already a bit of a roller coaster, seeing a somewhat scruffy Tom in dirty formal clothes, walking about the High-Rise as his voice narrated about the character he was playing. Laing. "I'm guessing you're Robert Laing.." You spoke, glancing at Tom, who gave you a soft nod. You were one to commentate somewhat if you were watching a movie with someone, especially if you know they've seen it before. You instantly smiled when you saw that white dog appear on screen, Tom visibly pouting. He knew what was about to be shown. "Awe, that's a good boy.." You spoke as Laing pet the dog on screen. Too soon.
Your smile immedietly disappeared as it cut to Laing slowly cooking a piece of the dogs leg, the covered corpse in the background. "He killed the fucking dog!" You gasped, hearing Tom let out a chuckle. You turned to him. "Why are you laughing? You killed that poor dog!" You asked him, but you were kind of smiling. "That's not me! That's Laing!" He pointed at the screen. You jokingly shook your head at him, hearing him chuckle again.
The next couple minutes were just visuals. Laing checking out his apartment, his blinking eyes, his boxes being brought to his room, etc., all while classical music was being played. You understood this was supposed to be an artsy film, so you kept an open mind. Ah, and here comes the famous magazine scene, with nearly all of Tom's physical features in plain view. Damn, he looked amazing. You couldn't help but stare at the screen, even though you've seen him like this before. It's odd to think that, but it's true.
"Captivated?.." Tom spoke from beside you. You noticed he had moved a little closer to you. You didn't mind. You looked back at him with a blush. "I'm watching a movie. That's all."
"Mm. You are. Very closely, it seems.." Tom teased, taking a sip of his drink while keeping his eyes on you. You playfully rolled your eyes and looked back at the screen. Gorey stuff for you is usually a hit or miss. There are days where it doesn't bother you, and days where it makes you tear up. The scene with Laing practically breaking open a skull at work made you a little uneasy, glancing away whenever you could. "Laing is a pretty hardcore guy, huh?" You spoke with a smirk. "I suppose so, yes.." Tom nodded with a little smile. The party scene introduced you to the pregnant woman. She seemed like the most normal woman in the film so far. Laing seemed to get absolutely besotted at the party, eventually being pulled away by Charlotte, the brown haired lady, out to the terrace. "Oh shit, they're definitely gonna fuck." You muttered, making Tom chuckle again. He didn't make a comment this time. He was simply waiting, practically watching you more than the film. He was entertained by your commentary and reactions.
The dream sequence with Laing dancing with all of the women down the hall made you laugh. It really made you wish you had read the book beforehand, though maybe it was better going into this film completely blind. "Are all of your dreams like this?" You asked Tom, seeing him smile. "It wasn't my idea to dance with them. The director made me do it." He admitted. That just made you laugh more. "This movie is fucking great so far." You admitted. "Oh, just you wait.." Tom grinned. "It gets better."
The next couple minutes of the film went by like a bit of a blur. You got a little happy seeing the dog again, but frowned when you remembered what happens to it. "Its really hard for me to like Laing, knowing he kills the dog.." You admitted, glancing at Tom for a moment. "Give it time.." Tom smirked, making you wince a bit before looking back at the screen. Laing was just finishing up with talking to some old guy that had supposedly built the tower, just approaching the 20 minute mark of the film.
That's when it really got interesting.
Laing and Charlotte were suddenly back on the terrace, completely...enraptured. Your eyes widened. They were talking, yes, but...against the terrace? Really? You were speechless. Normally, you'd try to be humorous with scenes like these, but since it was Tom, you were completely speechless. Not a single sound left your lips. All you could do was watch, completely ignoring the characters conversation, just listening to Laing's breathy moans and deep voice, watching him move with Charlotte. God, you know it's just Tom acting, but it was so...alluring. So captivating.
They moved to the table after a moment, starting to feel your cheeks and your thighs get a little warm. Was this really arousing you? "Can you write me a script for sleeping pills?" Charlotte asked Laing. They were both panting. She's a pretty good actress, too. "No.." Laing spoke in a low growl, pinning Charlotte down on the table and beginning to kiss down her lower thighs. His voice was so attractive. You nearly remembered that voice ringing in your own ear just a day or two ago. Seeing him like this just made you imagine the 2 of you together. You had completely forgotten that Tom himself was sitting right beside you, though he wasn't watching the screen as intensely as you were. He wasn't watching the screen at all. "Then tell me how your sister died.." Charlotte spoke. That nearly broke you into laughter, making you cover your mouth somewhat.
"Charlotte, no!.." You chuckled "You don't--you don't say that when a man is--" You started giggling, running your fingers through your hair. "What the fuck, Charlotte. That's not arousing.." Tom laughed a bit as well, watching you continue to stare at the screen. What really got you was when the scene really got graphic, Laing lifting Charlotte's legs up, his hips clearly bucking up against hers, showing pleasure in both of their faces. You were speechless again, watching with great interest. Your eyes had visibly darkened, not that you noticed. Tom sure noticed it, though.
You couldn't help but laugh when Charlotte's son interrupted them. Laing didn't even get to finish. "Okay, hold on.." You grabbed the remote and paused the film shortly after that scene was over, Tom letting out another chuckle. "Too much?" He asked, nudging you some. "I feel like I just watched your leaked sex tape.." You admitted with a laugh. "Jesus christ, are we gonna have to do that leg day shit? When we film?"
"Leg day?" Tom repeated, smiling humorously. "Yeah, with the legs going up like that?" You smiled "Is that what you call that position?" Tom asked before beginning to laugh. You lightly pushed him as he laughed, beginning to chuckle yourself. The laughter helped you mask the clear arousal you were feeling. You nearly felt ashamed for getting aroused over a scene like that, but it was Tom Hiddleston for fucks sake. The same man that's sitting next to you.
The rest of the movie was, once again, a rollar coaster. Characters were dying or completely losing their minds. Everything got much more sleazier. Laing even ended up getting with the pregnant woman, while she was still pregnant. That really grossed you out, though hearing Laing suddenly say "I'm cumming." Just before the scence ended almost made it all worth it. Tom really played this role well, that's for damn sure.
You watched the rest of the movie with constant confusion. It was really hard to keep up with everything, but the jokes you and Tom made throughout it made it a little easier to watch. Once it was over, you paused it and let out a little chuckle.
"Well? How was that?" Tom asked you with a curious smile.
"Ah man, that was...an experience.." You admitted with a chuckle. "I am forever going to keep 'tell me how your sister died' as an inside joke."
Tom let out a chuckle. "I think your 'leg day' comment is even better. That's what I'm calling that position from now on."
"Have you used that position often, then?" You asked him, getting up to help clean up.
A slight chuckle of embarrassment left him as he took out the CD of the film.
"Perhaps.." He admitted. "Have you?"
"You mean have I been in it?" You asked with a smirk. "How often do you think I've had sex?"
Tom shrugged. "You mean you've never been in that position?"
"I've had the one leg up, but not both." You admitted, keeping your smirk. He was the one that had your one leg up, when you had shared a bed.
Tom must've remembered that too, because he smirked back at you.
"Ah, I see.." He gave you a slight purr, picking up the empty cups and bowls, bringing them to the kitchen. The little things he did just to be flirtatious drove you insane, in many ways.
You followed him into the kitchen to help him do the dishes.
"How would you rate the film?" Tom asked you, drying and putting away the dishes while you cleaned them.
"A solid 6, maybe..." You admitted "6 out of 10, though I think our jokes made it funnier, and your acting was...entertaining."
"That's the word you choose to use, hm?" Tom teased. "'Entertaining'.."
"Yes. What word would you choose?" You glanced at him, tilting your head.
"Well...must I comment on how intensely you were staring at the screen?" Tom grinned. "Staring luridly, might I add.."
"Well, you looked rather good in the film. How could I not?" You admitted
"Well..." Tom set down one of the plates he was drying, turning to you. You set one of the dishes back in the sink, backing up somewhat as Tom backed you up against the kitchen counter.
"You can stare at me all you'd like. I'm right here.." He purred, just barely pressing up against you, practically pinning you against the counter.
You gazed up at him, seeing the darkness in his own eyes. The way he looked at you always made you feel wild inside. You've certainly never seen anyone else look at you this way.
"Anytime?.." You asked, seeing him grin down at you.
"Anytime.." He purred, gazing down at heatidly. "We'll be living in the same house for quite some time. Mind as well have a bit of fun.." His hands sneakingly moved to rest on your hips, leaning down so your noses just barely touched.
"Just the two of us, right?.." You asked, your hands gently moving to his chest, toying with the front of his shirt.
"Oh, I don't share..." Tom nodded his head with a smirk. "If you give yourself to me the way you have, you're mine." That last bit came out as a deep growl, his hands sneaking under your shirt to feel your bare hips. His touch always made you tense up. You couldn't help it sometimes.
"G-Good.." You breathed with a soft blush, glancing down at his chest, then looking back up into his dark blue eyes.
He pulled you close by your hips, leaning down to connect your lips once again. Your hands wrapped around his neck, the kiss already rather heated. He slipped his tongue into the kiss, a soft moan escaping you. His hands moved down to your legs, encouraging you to jump. You jumped up on to the counter behind you, feeling him come closer and wrap your legs around his waist. He couldn't press up against you completely with you up on the counter, but he kept you close as you continued to kiss him. He pulled back after a moment and moved to start ravishing your neck. You gripped his back somewhat, a soft moan escaping you as he began sucking at the skin.
His phone started going off in his back pocket, making him pull back with a slight huff. He pulled out his phone, smirking to himself. "It's the director...I have to take this, I'm sorry..." Tom spoke, pulling away from you. You gave a soft smile, hopping off the counter.
"I'll be in my room, if you need me.." You winked, just barely grazing by him, his hand lightly brushing against your hip as you walked away. You could practically feel his heated gaze watch your swinging hips leave before answering the phone call.
You couldn't hear the phone call once you had closed your bedroom door, blushing to yourself. The way he looks at you and holds you makes it feel like a dream once it's all over.
You glanced at your reflection before your cheeks went red. You moved closer to the mirror, spotting the hickey just by the back of your neck. It wasn't too noticable, but if someone was looking at you for quite a while they would definitely see it. Damn it! You and Tom literally start shooting for the film in the next day or so, and now he's given you a visible hickey. You hoped you could cover it up with makeup.
Tom came into your room after a couple minutes, leaning against the open door frame.
"We start filming tomorrow morning. We have to be at the set for 8am." Tom spoke.
"You gave me a hickey." You smirked, seeing a small smile spread along his lips.
"And?" He asked.
"And...we start filming tomorrow..." You repeated what he said earlier. "What am I supposed to say on set with a big hickey on my neck?"
"You don't have to answer to anyone." Tom shrugged, moving into the room. You couldn't help but smile, despite feeling a little nervous.
"Do you think anyone will find out? Offset, I mean.." You gave a slight pout.
"No one knows where we're filming.." Tom replied. "If any paparazzi or fans show up anytime during filming, it certainly won't be this week. The hickey will be gone by then."
You let out a slight sigh of relief, smiling a bit. "I know my constant concern is probably annoying. I just know how much you hate rumours and shit.."
"It's not annoying. The paparazzi are bloody annoying.." Tom admitted, gently taking one of your hands. "Your concern is heartwarming.." You smiled up at him, quietly leaning up to peck his lips. He smiled more, his hands moving to your hips once more.
"Now, where were we?..." Tom purred with a dark grin, a snicker escaping as he lifted you up once more. You let out a giggle as he carried you to your bed.

Yeah, there really is this unfortunate attitude people have towards lighthearted and comedic content, that it's somehow frivolous and less good than solemn drama? And worse, people act like HUMOUR makes writing less serious when like all the best tragic stories have some elements of comedy in them.
I've mentioned this before but like Hamlet? It's funny! It has jokes! It has so many goofy scenes! Like do people think you're not supposed to find it funny when the angsty prince pretends to be insane and is acting obnoxious? And does that make it any less tragic or well-written or serious? NO. It makes it better.
Les Mis is one of my favourite books and it's literally known for being a major bummer but IT IS SO FUNNY. YOU GUYS DON'T EVEN KNOW. IT'S A HILARIOUS BOOK. NOBODY TELLS YOU THIS BECAUSE THEY THINK IT WOULD BE LIKE DISRESPECTFUL TOWARDS A LITERARY CLASSIC AND THAT'S SO STUPID. And yes, it's still a major bummer, but it's a major bummer that's actually entertaining to read. (Also it does actually have a sort of bittersweet but hopeful ending, if you actually consider the messages in the story.)
And okay a lot of the jokes in both of those tend to go over people's heads bc they are old works and we don't get the references, but I mean, look at A Song of Ice And Fire? Or Game of Thrones, whatever. That's a funny series too! And it's some of the most tragic shit you've ever seen! The comedy makes it better. Would it ever have gotten so popular if it wasn't funny? Seriously.
Also it's just realistic, actually. Because real people are hilarious actually, anddo in fact make jokes to deal with dark times.
And yeah Dream SMP is still funny but more and more they seem to insist on separating the funny bits from the "lore" and that's just not the right direction to go IMO.
I actually do blame the fandom to some extent because the fandom kept making fun of the jokes, I mean mostly in a lighthearted way but a loooot of people were saying that the creators were bad at acting/roleplaying, and then pointing at the jokes as evidence. And that's gonna make them think that what the audience wants is less jokes in the lore. Also I guess the angst probably DOES bring them viewers, I imagine. Because it's easy to clickbait with drama and angst. But I agree, it's by no means necessary and oh man I would have preferred Eggpire Attacks Hotel Opening so much more and you KNOW that would have gotten just as many if not more views. Although I guess it would have been harder to schedule.
And I mean I get why people are into the psychological drama between Dream and Tommy and angsty and bleak stories are very intense and emotional and effective, and I do have a lot of feelings about the whole prison arc as is obvious from how mad I keep getting about everything related to the prison... but at some point it just gets tiring. Which is why I honestly haven't even ranted about the prison half as much as I might have otherwise because I do have things to rant about, but I'm just too tired and it just ruins my day thinking about it. It's not fun or even motivating for me, it's draining, and it's a bit too personal in some ways too, which I will not elaborate on.
And then we end up with extreme mood whiplash when jumping between lore and ooc chilling. Or even just switching between the Serious Arcs and the chill arcs. Which is all just really jarring. Not a fan.
I just feel like these guys lured me in with funny Hamilton parody and funny political roleplay in Minecraft only to go all grimdark on me and now it doesn't even have jokes in it to lighten the mood most of the time. I mean good for people who like that sort of stuff but I just really really don't, no thank you. I like my angst in moderation or at least served with some sense of humour.
I'm still holding out for Techno to come back with something I actually want to watch. Otherwise I think I'll just dip tbh. I can always go back to Hermitcraft. Or hell, my friends are starting a new roleplay server (it's gonna be called Respawn and it's gonna be awesome bc my friends are awesome and talented and funny [/shameless plug]), I can just go to them for content.
Hot take but remember when Dream SMP lore streams used to be like 50% comedy? Or even more, arguably. Honestly I'd say the original L'Manberg independence war was like 90% comedy.
Can we go back to that please? Or at least a few steps in that direction?
When did "lore" come to mean "solemn and depressing"? When did it get so humourless? Am I the only one who's noticed the massive stylistic shift?
I've come to realise that the people I still enjoy watching for lore are basically the people who still have a bit of that mix and who know how to balance it so it never becomes a bummer to watch. Techno, Phil, Tubbo and Jack basically. Idk if there are others but they're the ones I know and watch the most currently. Everybody else seems to just be making me feel tired.
I mean Tommy has the right balance SOMETIMES but rn he's very squarely in major bummer territory. Same for Puffy from what I've seen lately. Some of them work for me when they're with one of the less serious people like Niki with Jack or Ranboo with Tubbo, Techno or Phil, but alone they just... nope, too sad, don't need it.
Idk, I don't wanna push my own preferences on people, I'm just frustrated
