Do you think vader looks at lukes escapades and it like "So was that a Skywalker move or a Naberrie move?"
Luke gets rescued after his 12th swlf sacrificing stunt of the month and all he hears as he's dragged off to the Executor is Vader muttering about damned Naberrie genes
I don't think Vader would ever speak a word against Padmé haha. If Padmé was reckless, well, she was brave and bold and brilliant, wasn't she? If Anakin was reckless, what an idiot. So I definitely don't think he complains about Naberrie genes. I think if he looked at Luke he'd find a way for every single feature about Luke he liked to have come for Padmé, while every feature that worried him came from Anakin.
So I think he definitely looks at Luke's insane shenanigans and thinks, "He's such a Skywalker." BUT! There are two other important influences to add to the equation! He definitely blames Kenobi. And he probably blame the Lars family as well.
For Owen and Beru, this is patently unfair and hypocritical. I frequently think about that post that talks about Owen Lars holding the longest record for holding off Skywalker bullshit. I think Vader is out here complaining that growing up on a crime hole like Tatooine, Luke has clearly picked up horrible habits, a disregard for his own life, an unnervingly familiarity with recklessness - clearly this is all those farmers' fault. Which is so not fair! Luke grew up on Crime Planet but in fact did not see anything of it until his aunt and uncle died. I would argue that the only instincts of self-preservation that Luke has, he has because Owen and Beru drilled them into him.
But for Obi-Wan? Yeah, that's fair. Biggest hypocrite of them all. He complains about Anakin being reckless and is afraid of Luke being reckless, but then in a day he undoes all of Owen and Beru's hard work by taking Luke to a wretched hive of scum and villainy, introducing him to the worst smuggler in the galaxy, and getting him captured by the Empire. Also, in this time he has taken Luke's dreams of adventure and dialled them up to the max by telling him all about his father so Luke wants to be cool and adventurous like him.
All this to say: There's no way Vader blames Naberrie genes for Luke's insanity. He probably does have some awareness that Skywalker genes are at fault. But what's far more convenient is for Vader, in the tradition of many Sith Lords of his time, to just shout, "KENOBI!!!" and be done with it.

Mediation...?
This one I came up with as I walked to work, and so we will all explore it. It is a Post Empire AU. I know, I do not usually go for post-empire, but the horror and humor of this idea spoke to me.
Let’s take a look, yeah?
The AU part is that both Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker survived through the end of the Empire. So we don’t have to deal with too many changes too early, Obi Wan was severely injured and in Bacta for the entire time of the OT (or he got injured again just before the events of each movie, whichever works better).
After Vader comes back to the light, he is fitted with prosthetics that actually fit (including being the correct height). He is still required to wear a mask ,but it is more like Plo Koons than Vader (covering his mouth and nose but not his entire face). The burns he got from Mufastar meant that he had no hair, and the suit he wore for those years meant that he was unnaturally pale. As a consequence he no longer looks like Vader (not just because he lost 5 inches in height with the correct legs).
Most of the galaxy does not know that Vader and Anakin Skywalker are the same person. Anakin was also largely forgotten, and the few who did remember him (without knowing the Vader connection) would quietly muse about how much Vader seemed to hate Anakin Skywalker, the Hero without Fear (there is no doubt in my head that the person Vader hated the most was Anakin).
The Rebels do know that Anakin and Vader are the same person. Even as they are working to build the New Republic, no one is quite sure what, if anything, Anakin Skywalker should be charged with (War crimes. So many war crimes, they would need to invent new war crimes specifically for Vader-Though to be fair he is not the only living member of the Empire’s ruling body for this to be true). If he does need to be charged, and they could figure out what with, does his fall to the dark side constitute a mitigating factor (some kind of diminished capacity) or an enhancement (like a hate crime)? Where does killing the Emperor fit into any sentence he would have to serve? Is there even a way to enforce any sentence that a court could impose?
All of these questions and more would have to be answered before any trials could commence (including: how far does “following orders” mitigate actions, and how far up the chain of command can that excuse be used?). In the meanwhile Anakin hangs awkwardly around with his son when he is able.
Luke wants, deeply, to help his father become comfortable around people again. He also does not quite…understand is probably the best term…understand the depth of the horrors that Vader/Anakin created in his 20 years in the suit.  In his mind he knows, and has been told, most of what Vader has done, but to a certain extent he separated Anakin and Vader in his mind so there is a bit of disconnect (Some understandable cognitive dissonance).
He is at least aware enough that he is not looking to find Anakin friends among the rebels, who would naturally think of Vader first (and thus it would be uncomfortable for all involved). He understands that asking someone like Leia to try and befriend the being that tortured her then blew up her planet is not a good idea.
But there is one person he knows thinks of Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader as two different people. Obi Wan Kenobi.  Who is decidedly avoiding Anakin (in this Anakin can not blame him, the return to the light means that he does actually need to face everything he has done), but is also low key avoiding most people. Mostly Obi Wan is staying around the clones that still live (both to help those clones with their own guilt over their actions while chipped, the fact that their aging has finally been brought to human normal,  and frankly because he likes them more than most people these days-I imagine at least Cody-CodyWan for the win-, Rex, Gregor, Appo, and Wolffe but there are a good crowd), and the few Force users that survived the Purge. Also spending time with Leia.
Now a few things need to be made abundantly clear at this point. Luke does not know of the horrors Anakin perpetrated, as opposed to Vader (For all that Palpatine labeled him Vader before the march on the temple, I always headcanon that his last act as purely Anakin was the slaughter of the children in the council chamber but even then he did not truly become Vader until after he finds out that Padme died), not really. Few enough who live remember the march on the temple, what it meant that the temple (the home of the Jedi) was pillaged and burned. Fewer still ever knew that it was Anakin that led the march and slaughtered the children.
Oddly enough, Anakin Skywalker is the only person in the galaxy who knows the true horrific extent of his own crimes.
So Luke, with all the best of intentions, notices that Obi Wan is avoiding Anakin, and decides he will help his father and his teacher/mentor/uncle/that weird dude that lived in the desert makeup. Luke is attributing the awkwardness to Anakin’s 20 years as Vader (which, if we are being completely honest, is the least of the issues between Anakin and Obi Wan).
Luke decides he is going to hold something like a mediation to bridge those 20 years. Anakin is, at this point, incapable of denying Luke anything and agrees (in spite of the fact that even he can tell this will go poorly). Obi Wan does not actually agree as Luke does not tell him what they are meeting for, but once he arrives is semi blackmailed by Luke (leveraging the whole ‘you told me my father was dead thing/you lied to me my whole life’) which really only works because Obi Wan is also fairly vulnerable to young Skywalker children who remind him of the people who Obi Wan has lost (Satine would have done something similar, Obi Wan think nostalgically). Thinking that an audience would help create a more neutral location, Luke makes sure that Obi Wan is accompanied by a few of the clones (Appo in particular), and that Leia, Han, and Mon Mothma (as one of the few people who remember Padme and Anakin) are in the room. There are others.
Now Luke has all the best intentions with this, but he is, at best, missing some very critical information. At worst he is taking after one of his father’s worst traits (so sure he can fix a relationship that is not his, and is probably better left broken).
Both Anakin and Obi Wan silently agree to humor the sunshine boy.  At first they try to keep it to lighter disagreements and misunderstandings  (who saved who and who made the situation worse kind of thing). Anakin brings up at one point being unhappy that Obi Wan hid his children from him for almost 20 years, Obi Wan corrects that he hid them for almost 10 years from Vader, since he believed Anakin actually dead for the first 10, during which Vader maintained that Anakin was dead. Anakin withdraws his objection.
Then Anakin brings up the limb removal on Mustafar (which causes most of the room to go still, no one but the clones-whom Obi Wan had told- knew about the Mustafar fight). Obi Wan shoots back with an slightly irate rejoinder that it was a really measured response considering that Anakin had just: led a group of brainwashed soldiers into their home and slaughtered as many men, women, and children that he could; choked his very pregnant wife; ignored repeated attempts Obi Wan made to end the fight without further violence.
It was at this point that Appo started to have a panic attack (being one of the few surviving Clones who was actually there in the temple).  Obi Wan looked over at Luke, apologized and said this was not a good idea.  Then left with the clones, all trying to calm Appo back down.
The entire room is just…dead silence. Like Luke everyone, barring Anakin who did know this was going to go so badly, had sort of forgotten that Obi Wan was more than the weird desert guy who hung around with the clones, and sometimes Leia.  Luke is sitting there, really pale (He did have good intentions).
Like the people who realized the Jedi suffered a genocide when the Empire came into power had mostly died, the few that had survived all these years had buried that knowledge under the subsequent horrors of the Empire (They also largely forgot, or didn’t understand the horror of the chips both in the context of Order 66 and following orders in the Empire). It was not done out of maliciousness, or even ignorance, because the Jedi and the Clones (in that they lost everything of themselves and their culture in a moment) may have been the first genocide of the Empire but it was not the last.
I’m not sure where it would go from there, other than Anakin is charged with so many war crimes and accepts whatever punishment is determined.

Oh my God! Vader is afraid of fire!
So, I want to talk to especially noisy gentlemen who are outraged by the fact that Vader in episode 3 of Kenobi did not (go through options): went through the fire, did not bypass the fire, did not jump over the fire, did not put out the fire by force, did not pull the kenobi through the fire to yourself. And just let him go.
Tumblr media
Let's assume that this is a writer's fault, or vice versa, a special move, showing that Vader let Kenobi go because of (I go through options): sadism, further desire to torture him even more in the future, Anakin woke up in him and compassion, he did not want to spoil his a shiny new suit, he wants revenge, he is squeamish about wasting his strength on a weak Kenobi, and so on. And yet (this is what I'm leading to) there is a third option. From the fact that he is just a canonical "misser" So. "New Hope". Door leaves that this comrade can hold by force and even open them. I think he has enough power. But what is happening? we see how Vader sees the flaps closing in front of his nose... his mask's respirator.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then he turns around and leaves. Doesn't it remind you of anything? But it's all right here. Let's go further. Everyone's deeply adored Rebel moment in “Rogue One”. Epic, colorful, incredible, exciting. But completely illogical. We saw how Vader in Kenobi was able to channel a wave of the force that extinguished the flames. Why not direct such a wave of force at the rebels and smash them to hell on the walls? But no, he prefers to beautifully swing his saber and walk slowly, punching his way to the needed item. Which by the way is so accessible for all his brutal power.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But why, we'd better sadistically shred everyone and miss something very important again. And we will again look in the wake of the fleeing prey. But it's all right here, again...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Further more. "Fallen Order" The coolest and dumbest moment at the same time. Vader uses his mind to stop a huge shutter the size of a high-rise building from a distance and at the same time throws heavy elements at Cal.
Tumblr media
But at the same time, he is not able to stop the elevator or its doors, but menacingly approaches it until the elevator slams shut.
Tumblr media
And then our dear adored villain finds nothing better than to stick a sword into these doors.
Tumblr media
Yeah, bro, you're just brilliant in your desire to miss everything. And by the way, for contrast, the moment with the water, in which he coolly restrains it with all his might. Losing your prey again. It's also all right.
Tumblr media
So. Well, now please sort out for me these moments and their canonicity and illogicality and a very non-canonical moment with fire, where: "OH GOD, WTF, Vader is afraid of fire and cannot pass through it and misses Obi-Wan, Aaaa, panic, facepalm, curtain!"
Tumblr media
I'm waiting for someone to explain to me how this moment differs from those listed above. And I will say that here Vader missed his prey on purpose, and not for the sake of a beautiful epic fight with the loss of a prey. And I don't blame George Lucas or the film or game makers in any way. I rather appeal to fans who supposedly know the canon, who for some reason forget these moments for the sake of their screams and condemnations.

"I have some problems with [Luke] as a character)" was mentioned in your Reylo response post. Very interested in what your thoughts are on Luke! 👀
Do you want me to get murdered?! Well, if I didn’t get lynched for calling Sirius Black a Stephen King villain I can surely do no worse here.
Let’s do this.
Caveat that, as usual, I am wearing a heretic hat and expect no one to agree with what I’m saying.
Luke Skywalker, much like Harry Potter, is not the character the authors and vast majority of the audience seem to think he is. Luke is seen as the true coming of the Jedi, the light side of the Force incarnate, and someone so innately good he was able to redeem his father, restore peace to the galaxy, and restore the Jedi Order.
I disagree with all of this.
I think this is what Luke thinks he did but the truth is far sadder and, well, in general worse.
First, let’s start off with Luke’s hero’s journey throughout the saga.
Luke starts your ordinary guy, he’s not bad by any means, but he’s not particularly good either. He lives in the middle of bumfuck nowhere, part of a relatively well off family, and set to inherit the world’s most boring business: moisture farming. He has dreams of going out, seeing the world, and becoming a great pilot.
Important to remember but what most people gloss over: Luke starts if not pro-empire then neutral towards it. Luke wants to attend flight school, given his desire for glory and adventure, he probably wants to join the empire’s military. He might not like Storm Troopers all that much but the fire of revolution doesn’t burn in his heart the way it does Leia’s.
Now, personally, I like this about Luke. It makes sense to me. Given where and how Luke grows up, given all he’s ever known, I think this makes perfect sense for his viewpoint. He might get hassled by stormtroopers now and then but the empire really doesn’t interfere with his life except in a) propaganda b) offering an escape from his dull existence. What would someone like Luke know about the Rebel Alliance?
The movie however... sort of goes out of its way not to acknowledge this, and this is where I start having problems with Luke. Luke gets Leia’s message about Obi-Wan Kenobi, sees the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen in his life, and gets to embark on this amazing adventure. The story sort of takes it for granted that he then agrees with old hermit, Obi-Wan, that the empire is evil. This is helped because Luke does too.
In other words, Luke’s opinions are very shallow and lack any introspection. Finding himself in the company of Jedi, smugglers, and hot rebel princesses, Luke suddenly goes, “Ah, yeah, I hate the empire!” We never really see him change his mind by reflecting over what the Death Star means/the destruction of Alderaan, the death of his relatives, or his meeting with Darth Vader. Luke seems to be won over... Honestly, it feels like it’s because the Rebel Alliance let him fly a plane before the Empire did.
Then he blows up the Death Star, is a galactic hero/enemy number one of the empire, and he’s full on board resistance man and the next Jedi.
Which brings us to point number two, Luke legitimately thinks he’s a Jedi.
Obi-Wan gives him half a word of advice for maybe half of a day, watching Luke swing a sword around and get shot at by a robot. Yoda trains Luke in a swamp for, generously, maybe a week or so before Luke ditches him (against his advice even) to go save his friends. Luke has 0 training (beat out only by Rey, who wasn’t trained at all). More, he lives in a world where everything he knows of the Jedi is colored by Palpatine’s propaganda and old legends. The Jedi temples have been ransacked and presumably next to nothing of the Jedi culture remains, I can imagine Palpatine as being nothing but thorough in his elimination of the Jedi religion. The Jedi survived in Obi-Wan, Yoda, and in some sense Anakin Skywalker.
They do not survive in Luke. Luke puts on some quasi-Jedi robes, slashes his sword around a few times to save Leia from Jabba, and he says, “Now I am a Jedi!” Luke is that kid, LARPing, yelling “firebolt, firebolt, firebolt!” Only, that is, if the LARPing consisted of him representing a massacred culture thinking he’s it’s sole legitimate heir. So... Luke is playing Cowboy and Indians, and he’s the Indian.
In my opinion, Vader wasn’t so much redeemed as he always had a very high priority in finding his son and keeping him alive. The obvious way to do this would be to take Luke as an apprentice and, eventually, murder Palpatine. Well, that didn’t pan out, and eventually Anakin chooses murder-suicide to save his son’s life. It’s very touching, I’m not knocking the moment, but I do think a lot of that was Anakin vice the inherent goodness of Luke.
Anyways, Luke and pals save the day, they start a new republic and then they learn life is complicated. The new republic fails within decades, worse, it’s feeble and likely torn apart by civil war, strife, and constant infighting. It is utterly powerless, to the point where the First Order easily rises to replace the Empire and take over its vast resources (with Palpatine building a secret sith army on the side no less). That Leia rather than lead an army through the new republic in the sequels is leading her own private resistance army is very telling.
Fitting in with this, Luke starts a Jedi Academy. The prequels, and yes go ahead and slander them all you like but they’re better than many admit, taught us a few things but one of them is that it is hard to be a Jedi. To walk the path of a Jedi is to open yourself up to great temptation to use the dark side, and the dark side isn’t just some strange quirk or sense of duality, it is the equivalent of selling your soul. It is an unnatural action that leads to unnatural abilities.
You get a bunch of Force Sensitive kids in a room: you better know what you’re doing.
Luke doesn’t. He collects a handful of the remaining Jedi artifacts that Palpatine somehow didn’t destroy, opens up his Jedi School (even teaching his nephew), and within maybe five years the place is burned to the ground, his students murdered by his nephew, and his nephew runs off to join a Sith Lord who appeared out of nowhere (Luke not realizing that this was just immortal cockroach Palpatine).
Luke then becomes a grumpy old man who just can’t deal, sits on a rock drinking blue milk, and whines that for how shitty of a teach he was that Obi-Wan guy was worse for messing up with his father. Which, frankly, is very in character for Luke.
Luke has never really failed in his life, or at least, never had to recognize his own failure. So, when he does, he a) doesn’t realize what went wrong b) blames everyone but himself c) sits on a rock and waits to die.
So yeah, that’s Luke for you.
A whiney, shallow, stupid, somewhat narcissistic, hero. I... don’t dislike the concept of his character, played more straight I’d love his character, but I dislike that people talk about him like he’s the most noble creature to ever grace the planet and has this inherent understanding of a murdered people that the murdered people themselves never had.
(All the Jedi were doing it wrong! Luke made the real Jedi Order! Is something I see a lot and... well... say what you will about their philosophies, but this kid who was not a part of that culture “doing it better”... That’s real problematic folks, real problematic.)

Not an attack, just a question; Reylo is awful without a doubt, but do you acknowledge Anidala has big problems too? Not that it's nearly on the same as Reylo, but surely you know Anidala isn't flawless, right?
Okay here’s the thing: no relationship is without flaws and neither is Anidala but it’s nothing “big” or problematic. It’s the circumstances that made it end terribly. The relationship suffered because both characters are flawed individuals, especially Anakin. Anakin had a lot of unresolved issues and wasn’t mentally stable. He was completely off edge on Mustafar - he would have killed/attacked anyone not just Padmé.
Anakin and Padmé’s love is genuine and it’s about two people from two different worlds who find themselves trapped in their roles . I have said multiple times TCW doesn’t get Anidala right or Disney canon in general but the original relationship was never abusive. If you are talking about TCW Anakin’s jealousy and possessiveness, yeah I agree it’s not healthy and I don’t ship TCW Anidala either. Anakin couldn’t bear to lose Padme - it’s not really about romantic jealousy or about other men stealing her away.
Whatever issues movie Anakin had, it could have been fixed by therapy and by acknowledging it. That was the problem in the relationship - they were naïve and they idealized each other. Padme overlooked Anakin’s flaws to the point she was heartbroken in ROTS. Anakin in his rage could never rationalize that Padme would never betray him. As I mentioned earlier (and it is confirmed by other books), if Obi Wan hadn’t showed up on Mustafar, Anakin would have never attacked Padme. Despite all that, Vader still regrets hurting her. Which is because he never intended to hurt her in the first place. I obviously don’t support this and I can tell you no one likes him choking her - but Anakin’s crimes weren’t just against her. It was basically him (and Palpatine) against everyone he knew. He even did those because he had no choice and the fact that he sacrificed his morality for her and yet she betrayed him was what made him so upset. Padme could have easily blamed Obi-Wan for sneaking into her ship without her consent but Padme is a loyal person just like Anakin which is why she was the one who suffered the most. Her compassion was her undoing.
Anakin went to the dark side out of fear of losing his wife. The Jedi viewed this kind of relationship as possession but for Anakin it was over-attachment. Which is completely natural. The only other person who he loved as much was his mother and she died horribly. He thought he couldn’t cope with loss. The only problem is Padme had no idea how far Anakin could go for that. I don’t think it’s Padmé’s fault in any of this. She didn’t encourage Anakin in any of his crimes and the only thing she did was to try bring him back to the light side (like Luke). Notice he had softened after hearing her on Mustafar before Obi-Wan ruined it. Besides, Padme had loved ones who were alive and healthy. It would have been very difficult for her to understand the extent of Anakin’s desperation.
Anakin was attached to his mother in the same way too - I don’t really view it as a bad thing. He wasn’t making them stay against their will - he just couldn’t afford to see them die. We are all attached to people in some way - it’s just not natural for Jedi to be overly attached to people. Anakin just didn’t know how to deal with this fear of loss and did everything because he truly believed Palpatine could save Padme. Another argument is if Vader would have forced Padme to stay with him against her will had she survived but that would have never happened either because Padme was always on his side. I don’t really view Padme as completely “good” - she prioritized Anakin on multiple occasions and it really wouldn’t have been very different from if Luke had joined Vader.
As I mentioned here, Anakin and Padmé trusted one another and didn’t keep secrets from each other till the very end due to circumstances. And despite their differences, all they were loving and compassionate people who wanted to be together and have a family. There’s nothing non-consensual, toxic or abusive in their relationship. It’s not without its flaws but the prequels are a tragedy so there has to be some flaws (and it was mainly because of circumstances than anything else) for something to fall apart.

“Old Friends Not Forgotten” Review and Analysis
Spoilers for Star Wars: The Clone Wars S07E09
If you are interested in my reactions while watching the episode click here
If you want to read my rant about the thing that made my cry the most in this episode click here (disclaimer: I was still crying while writing this and that may have clouded my opinion about the scene. In this review I will go into more detail about that)
So then let’s get started! I have calmed down and feel now emotionally ready to actually interpret and analyse the scenes and not just bring across my emotions. But this still is only my personal opinion! So if you disagree that is fine, just please don’t be mean about it.
So the first scene we get is a parallel to the movie (aka the first arc of TCW) which I think is a pretty amazing idea. It shows how Anakin and Obi-Wans relationship has changed and how it has stayed the same. Anakin is as cocky and arrogant as ever. But this time he is not Obi-Wans student anymore. He leads his own men with his own plan and is just coming from his own solo-mission. Yes he wasn’t Obi-Wans Padawan in the movie and Rex was under his command back the too but their dynamic was still different. He still sees Obi-Wan as his former Teacher and as a Jedi Master and part of the counsel he is technically still above Anakin, but they act more on an eye-to-eye dynamic. More like brothers than father and son.
Anakin uses a smiliar trick as Obi-Wan did back in the movie. (I don’t know how the Republic and the Separatists handle that but it is considered a war crime in our world... Since Obi-Wan did it and never got called out for it I guess it is okay in their world...) But of course Anakin puts his own spin on it. That is I think a pretty good way to show how Anakin learned from his master. He did watch and listen but he is not like Obi-Wan. He likes to do things his way. And as long as it works he won’t stop.
Their friendly banter in this scene is also really in tune with the way they act with each other in the beginning of ROTS (especially in the deleted scenes). So it is not hard to believe that this takes place only days before.
Tumblr media
Before Anakin does his own thing Obi-Wan says: “I know better than to try and stop you.” I really liked this line. Not only because it was funny but also because for me it had a bit of an bitter aftertaste. He does not approve of Anakin’s actions (or methods to be exact) but he doesn’t do anything about them. Anakin is an adult and Obi-Wan is done with his education but his former padawan is far away from being a Jedi Master.
Then we have the first moment with Rex. Again a beautiful example of their dynamic. The other clones do what Anakin say (they have to) but they also are a bit annoyed by their general and his plan. Rex on the other had has Anakin’s back, as usual. And he motivates his men to follow Anakin. The trust these two have in each other is just beautiful! Rex trust that Anakin knows what he is doing and Anakin trust that Rex is taking care that everything works. I am pretty sure Rex wasn’t given more than a few instructions haha
Tumblr media
Anakins plan works and he learns nothing except that he was right. Again. I am not gonna go into to much detail about Obi-Wan and Cody but I will say this. As usual they care about and trust each other. Cody is like a friend and not just some clone to Obi-Wan and knowing that makes Cody picking up Obi-Wans lightsaber in a few weeks so logical. Also it makes Order 66 as usual even sadder.
Tumblr media
I can’t help but feel that is episode feels like part of a movie. The opening battle. Very Star Wars. That would also explain the new intro and outro. A very nice ending to the show. Staring with a bad movie, finishing with good one. All in all this episode really played on nostalgia about the TCW Movie and I love it!
Okay back to the episode.
Ahsoka used the name Fulcrum for her transmission. It is a nice callback to Rebels and to the Ahsoka Novel. But with the republic (for example Yularen who becomes a impirial officer) knowing that she uses that name it feels like a bit risky to me to use it in the rebelion as a code name... Maybe I am thinking to much about that but yeah I had to write that thought down. Also Anakin first thinks it is Saw Gerrera, so that means he came up with that name? This just confused me...
Tumblr media
So now I going to try to fangirl not to much about Anakins reaction to Ahsoka, which is hard. But I am going to talk about it because it is very important for his character. I personally don’t remember the last time I saw Anakin this happy. Ahsoka coming back into his life is for him obviously a thing he had wanted and hoped for for a long time. But at the same time he is so surprised that it happened.
The next feeling he goes through is concern. He is just immediately concerned about her and the reason she is contacting him. Perfect Anakin moment. He loves his adoptive daughter and of course he is scared about her wellbeing. He is Anakin! He always scared about the women in his life. So having this poking out under his happiness was a good call.
Obi-Wan on the other hand is just surprised. And Ahsoka herself is very distant. (gonna go into detail about that in a second)
The talk Obi-Wan and Anakin have while walking to Ahsoka’s ship is also very interesting. You can see Anakin trying to find a reason for her leaving. Like it is the will of the force. Meanwhile Obi-Wan has a mixture of quilt and anger. He was partly responsible for Ahsoka being kicked out of the order and therefor also for her not returning. But it also feels like he is mad at her for not retuning. Maybe (that thought had just crossed my mind) he is angry at her for breaking Anakin’s heart. After all Obi-Wan had to piece him together again. (There is an unfinished scene form the original 7th season were they talk about Ahsoka.) And now he feels like she should not be let off the hook just like that.
Or he really just angry that she left the order that he believes in.
Tumblr media
Again we have a nice callback to the movie. I really love those. They feel fitting.
R2D2 is just amazing as usual and greets his masters daughter like a good boy.
Ahsokas face goes through so much in a matter of seconds. She looks at R2: happy. She looks up at her former masters: scared and unsure. She takes a step: confident. That is genius! I especially love that little moment of fear in her eyes. It makes so much sense when you look at her in the rest of the episode! And I personally think that it is Obi-Wan that she is cold towards. I think she has not forgiven him at all for his part in her trial. And she is not at all ready to face him. But she puts on a brave face because she has a mission bigger than her.
Tumblr media
At first when she stopped Anakin I was a bit upset but i get it now. She does not want to have this in front of Obi-Wan and Bo-Katan. Anakin staying behind for a second and putting himself together again is also really fitting I think. He was so excited to see her and she is cold towards him. He either does not see that it is not about him or he feels the tension between her and Obi-Wan.
Tumblr media
Anakin again becomes worried dad when she mentions Oba Diah. And it feels like she would want to tell Anakin but she has Bo-Katan next to her and Obi-Wan in front of her so she doesn’t. She also seems surprised that he still cares so much about her. I think she expected him to be a upset with her and not as open and happy as he is. (Maybe that was why she looked scared in the scene before...)
Tumblr media
“What is one more?” This sentence is big. I mean yes Bo-Katan is not a friend of the Jedi and not a friend of Obi-Wan. But it also kinda shows the overall frustration with the Republic and the Jedi in the galaxy.
Anakin lighting the mood with a joke...that is just pre-Vader Ani at his finest!
Bo-Katan is not wrong in this scene but after everything she had done to sabotage Satine she should really get down form her high horse here!
You can just feel the tension leaving the room when Anakin and Ahsoka are alone. They start to banter and she immediately smiles. These two have still so much love for each other and truly enjoy each others company. But after that there is this small moment of silence. Again perfect moment. It just shows that regardless of that there is baggage here.
Tumblr media
While walking down that corridor Anakin acts like a worried dad again. “It doesn’t matter to them. It is a sign of respect. They know what you went trough for them day after day. Battle after battle.” I choose to believe that he is also talking about him self when saying that. It is his way of telling her that he is proud of her. I don’t think she picks it up but the way he talks about it...that is his opinion of her for sure!
The Helmets...I just love them. I am not going to talk about them much. Their meaning is obvious and this is getting really long. I will also skip Rex for now (don’t worry he will get his paragraphs) same with the lightsabers.
Ahsokas face...she just feels proven right about the Jedi...
Tumblr media
So I am not sure if Anakin’s worry is about Padme or the Chancelor. I mean they talk about the chancelor and he is close to him. But he looks really worried so maybe Padme?
Tumblr media
Ahsokas and Obi-Wan argument. The scene is amazing! I have to say that. It showed their morals pretty perfectly and both are kinda right. Again the tension between them makes sense. It still hurts to watch it.
But also Anakin standing between them awkwardly is kinda fitting with his arc. He is so happy this whole episode that it is hard to see ROTS Ani but I think it still ads up. He knows they are both right. The war has to be won but also Mandalore needs help.
Tumblr media
“Unfortunately Ahsoka is no longer a part of the grand army of the republic.” That one sentence made so mad at Obi-Wan. Yeah, he is technically just saying a fact but his attitude. He is partly responsible for that he takes no blame! Even Ahsokas reaction is just like: Are you kidding me right now? She just looks at him for a second and she looks so disappointed and hurt.
Tumblr media
And Obi-Wan, he continues to look at her after she looked away and I don’t know but I see a bit of regret in eyes.
So apparently Anakin can promote Rex just like that. Don’t know why he never did it before. I mean we all know Rex would deserve it. But better later than never, right?
Interestingly enough the tension between Ahsoka and Obi-Wan is gone so quickly. It is fare away from their friendship in previous seasons but still. There is respect there again.
Tumblr media
Of course Obi-Wan has to make a Kenobi joke before leaving. That really made me forgive him, at least a bit.
“Thanks for the support, as always.” I have not nothing to add to this sentence. Ahsoka’s words nailed the point I want to make about Anakin in this scene.
Okay now on to the lightsabers. Two things. First, he must have had them with him on the whole siege! So that means that Anakin Skywalker kept her lightsabers with him at all time to either remind him of her or just in case she came back to him! Yeah, attachment is problem with this boy...
Tumblr media
Secondly...they are blue. All of Ahsokas lightsabers are green up to this point. So he either got her knew crystals or he played with them so much that the took on his lightsaber color. I don’t know what to say about that.
Ahsoka rolling her eyes at his braging is just wholesome. Nothing more to add there.
Tumblr media
I really love their dynamic when they are alone. It is so pure and happy and loving...
“Good thing I taught you otherwise.” So again a sentence with so much meaning. Filoni just loves throwing these in there, right? Let’s analyse it (bc that is the purpose of the post after all). With this sentence he basically tells her that it is okay to disagree with Obi-Wan and that he is not holding it against her in any way. He himself does it. Especially with the scene from before in mind that is so powerful.
We have heard a multiple of Jedis saying that luck doesn’t exist so Anakin saying that shows he does not care about what the order thinks is right. He has his own right and wrong. For now that is not problematic but we all know who that ends...
And that means he tells her he raised a good person and not necessarily a good Jedi in her. (it is really late, my english is no longer working properly) Hopefully I got my point across.
The way Ahsokas stands in this shot... She is not a little girl anymore. She is a fighter. A warrior.
Tumblr media
“Anakin! Good luck.”
Tumblr media
I really have to take all my strength to stay calm while writing this. I don’t want this to be too emotional.
So. Okay. *takes a deep breath* Ahsokas last words she ever says to Anakin Skywalker. The next time she talks to him he is Vader. Good words. Less than I personally wanted but good words.
After what he told her before it is just so poetic. She wants the best for him. She wants him to be lucky. To succeed. But after what he said it is more. So much more. It is a rejection of the Jedi and an embrace of the light force. And... Damn with everything that is going to happen in ROTS having Ahsoka telling him words that the Jedi reject is just...
Moving on before I lose my mind. We still have Rex to cover.
Anakin and Ahsoka think they will see each other again. They think that they will win and be together again and then they can figure out what to do about everything. About them. About the Jedi. About Obi-Wan.They have no idea what the future has in store for them. And it is perfect. I aligns perfectly with other star wars media. ROTS, Rebels, Ahsoka Novel. They don’t hug. They don’t say goodbye. I hate it but it is perfect.
I love that Rex got promoted but he is gonna be Captain Rex for me forever. Captain or Sir. But he really does deserve his promotion!
Because this is really long already I will not talk about Bo-Katan and the Mandalorians but focus on Ahsoka and the Clones.
We get an amazing banter between Rex and Ahsoka were Ahsoka proves that she is Anakins Padawan after all and that she has Skywalker energy. It is really amazing to see her in her element again. She can use the force whenever she wants and kicks ass! This really was her childhood.
Tumblr media
And then she saves a Clones because that is what Ahsoka Tano does. She knows casualties are a part of war but she saves who she can.
Tumblr media
Rex is so happy to have her back! He smiles and smiles just like Anakin. And just like with Anakin Ahsoka is so relaxed with Rex. They are her home!
I just love the cinematography of her fighting. It really is just watching a Star Wars movie. I can’t wait to watch the whole arc in one go!
Tumblr media
“Beat you.” “Some things never change.” Wholesome. This is just wholesome.
Tumblr media
Okay so that is it for me. I know there is still Maul and Bo-Katan to cover but I will talk about them after next episode!
But I will say this in conclusion: This is episode was stunning! Like everything was beautiful and meaningfull and thought out and detailed! I truly love this episode! I already watched it three times today. And I am so amazed by the animations! The characters facial expressions were on point! I had so much fun analysing them!
I hope that was interesting to read and honestly I am surprised if anyone got this far. Anyway I really loved watching the episode again frame by frame and note my thoughts (this took me 6h btw)

Some possible scenes/ideas that could happen now that it’s officially confirmed that Hayden is coming back as Darth Vader (and I just remembered that he’s only played suited!Vader for one/two scenes so excuse me while I go cry):
The ghost of Anakin coming to haunt Obi-Wan on Tatooine: a personal favourite of mine. As far as I know, Obi-Wan found out that Vader survived a few months/years after Mustafar, so he never met Vader in the suit until A New Hope. Meaning that Ghost!Anakin could be either a flashback version of his younger self, as in, that’s how he would be if he [Anakin] lived, or most likely a suited Darth Vader hallucination. Maybe a distorted voice switching from Vader’s to Anakin’s like it did in Rebels during his fight with Ahsoka, and “blaming” Obi-Wan for everything that happened? Either way they’re going to talk to each other or at least acknowledge each other’s presence, either as an Anakin hallucination or a Force manifested Darth Vader presence. But seeing them together in one shot, in live action after so so many years, would be enough to send me to uncontrollable tears. Rating: 10000/10 I would definitely not be okay after watching this and it would be the only thing I would talk about for the rest of the decade. Very Angst/Hurt and little Comfort because we all know how their story ends.
What’s Darth Vader been up to? It’s been ten years since the Empire became a thing, and while we know what he’s been doing through comics and other media— we don’t really know what he’s been doing when it comes to... well, Obi-Wan. The show is about him, after all. We know Vader’s obsessed with finding Obi-Wan because hello, it’s Anakin we’re talking about, but we don’t really know what he does in his free time. With this being said, if we get any shot of Vader’s daily routine I won’t be able to handle it. Show him walking around an imperial ship, staring into the stars, being moody and add a sparkle of ✨drama✨ because turns out that I missed seeing this sad dramatic man on screen more than I realised. Rating: 66/10 definitely would cry again.
Maybe yes, maybe no, but 10 year old Luke Skywalker. It hasn’t been confirmed but the series is going to be set ten years after Revenge of The Sith; so Luke and Leia would be about ten. I don’t think I should elaborate on this one, but Obi-Wan was never too far behind Luke, so maybe a scene or two with a smiley blond kid on Tatooine could appear. Obi-Wan quietly watching him play in the sand, always from a distance, and making sure that Luke was safe. Rating: 100/10 of things I could definitely not handle.
Any scene that shows Vader’s scarred face and head would be top tier. Bonus points for yellow Sith eyes. They wouldn’t bring Hayden back and not show that he’s under the Vader mask, so this is most likely going to happen. This is most likely going to happen. Oh my god this is actually happening... Rating: 100 AHHHs/10.
These are just some ideas out the top of my head but regardless of what they do I am happy and glad they brought Hayden back. I loved him as Anakin and I hope his experience now will be better than it was fifteen years ago. He’s the perfect age to play Vader, as he always wanted to, and I just know that I’m so starved for prequels content that some character could just say “Lord Vader is in the planet” and I would be like “hell yeah he actually is!!!”... I’m very excited and so used to talking about Hayden returning in conditionals and “somedays” that now that it’s actually happening I don’t know what to do with myself.

Disneyland and Lightsabers~ Peter Parker x Reader
Anonymous: Can I have 15 from the prompt list for Peter Parker? But in this one, s/o is trying to hide a surprise present from him?
Of course! I’m in a Disney mood right now so this is gonna be Disney themed-hopefully that’s fine!
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: None
AU: Disneyland
Word Count: 2000+
15) “You are a terrible liar.”
Tumblr media
Even though Peter told you he doesn’t want you to buy him anything at a Disneyland trip, you can’t help get him something he really wants
————————————————————
Everyone had been so excited for the Senior trip to Disneyland-especially you and Peter. You being the mildly obsessed Disney freak that could sing every song without fail and Peter never have gone, you both were psyched to experience the magic of Disney. You spent weeks planning, researching, and discussing what rides to ride on, what group pics to take, and what yummy foods to gorge yourself with. Now you were here, and you couldn’t be more ecstatic.
All morning you were having the best time of your life. Your group, which consisted of Ned, MJ, Peter, and yourself, were having the best time running into rides and taking dumb pictures around the park. But as the midday rush came and the sun was beating down on your group, you all felt like you were living in a sauna.
“No gonna lie,” Ned huffed out under the sheen of sweat trickling down his face, “I don’t think I can do this-how are wearing black MJ?”
MJ shrugged, not a drop of sweat evident on her face as your group walked down the packed lanes of Tomorrowland.
“I’m cold blooded.”
“Wish we were back in Space Mountain,” Peter added tiredly, his hair starting to stick to his forehead, “it was so cold.”
You looked at the tired face of your friends and sighed. You were trying so hard to be the optimistic, happy one of the group that kept everyone on their feet and moving. But you had to admit that you were extremely hot too. You looked around as you dodged strollers full of children, hoping a nice quiet spot to rest in the shade was open-to no avail. It seemed like every family had taken a spot that was out of the hot California sun.
You sighed. “Why don’t we just go into a store? There’ll be some air conditioning in there.”
“Can we please?” Ned begged frantically, his shirt beginning to turn dark around the collar from sweat.
You laughed exhaustedly from Ned’s childish desperation.
“Hey look,” Peter pointed, “that store sells lightsabers!”
Peter and Ned looked at each other, a common love arising on their faces. They both started to fast walk over to the store, leaving you and MJ to watch the two nerds run in like 5 year olds.
MJ looked at you and shook her head as she commented:
“Nerds.”
The store was a noticeable few degrees lower than outside, even with the hoard of families walking inside. You and MJ sighed in relief, allowing the rush of cold air to sweep over your bodies. After that relief, you began to look for your fanboy of a boyfriend.
You walked past bundles of children and Star Wars merchandise, puzzled on how you couldn’t find either boy.
You turned to MJ, confusion plastered on their face.
“Where do you think they-“
“OH MY GOD NED THEY HAVE COUNT DOOKU'S LIGHTSABER?!?” You heard Peter yell a few octaves too high as he pointed frantically at a wall of lightsabers.
You smirked. “Never mind.”
You snuck up on Peter, tapping your finger against his shoulder lightly.
“Having fun over here?” You asked, a smile playing on your lips.
Peter slightly jumped, surprised his Spidey senses didn’t warn him of your movement-he blamed it on the lightsabers.
“Yeah,” Peter sighed, breathless with excitement, “it’s just-these are so cool! I’ve always wanted one of these since I was a kid.”
“Really, Pete? I thought you had a bunch of those things,” you said, remembering the bucket of old toy lightsabers you found at the back of Peter’s closet.
“Yeah I know,” he agreed,” I just-always wanted a real one-one I could build myself, ya know? Be a real Jedi and do what they did.”
“Oh,” you nodded as you agreed, giggling at his adorableness.
“Should I sign you up for the Jedi Training here too?”
Peter’s face light up, grabbing both of your hands and clutching them close to his chest.
“Oh my god could you please?!”
You laughed, brushing your finger on the bridge of Peter’s nose, something you loved to do because it made Peter a blushing mess.
To no surprise, his checks turn a soft shade of red. “Believe me Parker, I could if I would.”
You both look at the lightsaber station and the group of crazy kids becoming their own Jedi as they meticulously built their weapons.
You turned back to Peter, the softness in your eyes making his heart thump. He loved when you looked at him straight on-he could look and appreciate every facial feature that made you you- the color of your eyes, the shape of your nose, the outline of your lips: everything about you he found cute, beautiful, and attractive, and he loved to absorb it all in.
“What color do you think you’ll pick?” You asked.
Peter blinked his eyes a couple time, his daze being broken. “Huh?”
You giggled, making his checks warm. He always felt sheepish when he realized he had been staring at you.
“I said, what color are going to get?” You bopped his nose again, making his checks go redder, making his few freckles stand out.
He fumbled with his hair, staring flustered, “um-uh-probably the blue one.”
“That’s so basic Parker!” You laughed.
“It’s the best color though!” He argued happily. “Obi-Wan used it-well, until Darth Vader killed him-oh and Qui Gon-until Darth Maul killed him too...Anakin- he turned into Darth Vader and got a red one-and Luke...except when Vader cut his hand off he got a green one…”
You looked at him, you eyebrows raised in concern and amusement, a comment on your lips that you were holding back to spill.
“What?” Peter asked, Noticing the look you were giving him
You smiled wide. “Nothing….”
“What?” Peter chuckled, trying to get your thoughts out of you.
He grabbed your hand as you turned away, making you look at him as a laugh escaped out of you.
“No, I’m not gonna tell you!” You shouted, closing your eyes. Peter’s face was right next to yours, your hands on his chest. Being so close to Peter was nerve racking, and the feeling made you feel like being dropped from a 4 story building.
“Come on-please tell me,” He asked as his fingers sat dangerously near your ribs-your tickle spot. His fingers brushed against your skin, sending rivulets of energy up your spine, making your head shoot up.
You looked at him, eyes wide. “Peter I swear to god-“
“Hey love birds!” Ned yelled as MJ raised her chin as a greeting to you two, “come
On! Our Fastpasses to Star Tours are almost up!”
You looked at Peter, an evil grin on your face as you poked his stomach on the side. Peter grabbed his stomach instinctively, even though it didn’t hurt at all.
“You’re mean.” He said with a fake pout.
“And you’re a nerd.”
“But you already knew that about me,” he replied, making you shake your head.
“I guess,” you replied smiling, “Wait-didn’t you want to get a lightsaber?”
“Yeah... Maybe I can-“ Peter began, but the sight of Ned frantically waving him down and pointing to his watch made him think otherwise.”
He sighed. “I guess I can get it later.”
“You sure?” You asked, knowing Peter really wanted to get his toy.
“Yeah, Yeah,” He reassured you, “I can get it later. Besides- we have all day.”
You looked back at the table, trying to make a plan that would satisfy everyone.
“Well what if I stayed back and got you the lightsaber?”
“Wait no y/n I can’t let you do that!” Peter protested. “Please, I don’t need it-lets just go-I’m fine, seriously!”
The more Peter talked, the more desperation played in his voice.
You gave him an unconvinced look. “Are you sure??”
“Yeah, Yeah,” He said ina fake airy manner, “I’ll be fine-I’ll just-get it later.”
He shrugged his shoulders and grabbed your hand, leading you to Ned.
Later never really came. Ride after ride after ride came, and it seemed Peter was never going back to that shop.
Night had fallen, and you felt Peter’s hand fidget in yours.
“Do you think we’ll be able to go back?” He asked, his big puppy dog eyes boating into yours.
You wanted to go back, but your call back time for the adults to drive all the students to the hotel was in 10 minutes, and you were a whole 2 lands away from the designated meet up spot. There was no way you could convince the group to walk more, and now way to expect to buy that lightsaber in time.
“I don’t know…” you said, not wanting to bring his hopes down. You know Peter would try his best to not look disappointed, but he never was very good at covering his emotions up.
As expected, you watched his face fall a little, only to perk up as quickly.
“It’s alright!” He replies in a fake, cheerful voice. “I guess I’ll just have to do it next time…”
Even though you thought it was slightly childish to want a toy so badly, you thought it was cute and adorable, and it broke your heart a little to see the one thing he wanted to go unfulfilled. It was like watching a kid on Christmas not receive the one gift their heart desired so desperately-it was heartbreaking and little guilty.
You grasped his hand, rubbing your finger against his skin, wondering how you could fix the situation. That’s when a light bulb went off.
You turned to Peter, false distress on your face. You let go of his hand, turning to the group as you yelled, “I gotta go to the bathroom-I’ll met with you guys later!” And instantly running off, completely startling Peter and everyone in the group. Everyone was focused on their bloated bellies, tired feet, and sleepiness, so the sound of your voice breaking their quiet self muddling completely startled them shit less. Peter shook his head as he tried to comprehend what happened in his
worn out state, watching your back as you ran off.
MJ walked up between Peter and Ned who had took your place to Peter, pointing at a crowded corner a few feet away from the trio.
MJ cocked her eyes, asking, “She knows the bathrooms there, right?”
You were nowhere to be seen, and Peter looked around confused. “Where did she go?” He asked, completely bewildered by your actions.
After Ned reassured Peter that you would come back after a few minutes of him yelling frantically for you, they rushed back to the assigned meet up spot. The night air drifted coolily through Peter’s hair and clothing, cooling his warm body. The sound of crickets chirping on the ground and the soft blinking of lights in the trees made him feel like he was in a dream like state-until he thought of you. When he finally realized you hadnt made it, his heart rate shot up, his senses going into overdrive. Instinctively, he began to think of every possible bad scenario-you somehow getting so lost you wouldn’t make it time and get in trouble, you getting hurt, someone Kidnaping you… the scenarios went on and on, becoming more ridiculous and more scary nevertheless. He stood there, deciding to call you and ask if you are okay, until he finally saw you running up, a Disneyland bag in your hand as you desperately tries to shove it in your bag with little success.
He jogged up towards you, smiling slightly as he breathed a breath of relief. His face took in a serious note as he asked, “Where did you go?”
You cocked your eyebrow mischievously, giving him a slight grin. “Nowhere-Just the bathroom.” You stated matter of factly, disguising your smile by tying up your hair.
Peter could tell you were lying just by the pitch if your voice-it always went up slightly because you were excited or nervous to tell him something.
He chuckled as he shook his head.
“You are a-terrible liar,” he laughed, emphasizing the word “terrible”.
“Oh don’t act like you're any better Parker,” you smiled as patted his cheek.
“Now come on,” you grabbed his hand tenderly, “we got a bus to catch.”
He didn’t see you the rest of the night after roll call. Peter sat next to Ned the whole ride back due to the gender-with-gender rule they have on school trips, and checked into his hotel room with him. He sat on the bed, sending you a good night text as Ned changed into pajamas and fell asleep in seconds.
Peter stayed up, waiting for your reply. He wasn’t worried that you were taking awhile because he expected you were taking a little more time going to bed. His eyes began to become more droopy, and before he knew it he was fast asleep.
The sound of soft footsteps was picked up by his Spider senses, making him shoot out of a deep sleep. He fumbled loudly in the dark, searching for the alarm clock on his bedside table. He finally turned it, seeing it was 3 o’clock in the morning. He propped his body up, listening to the footsteps. They slowly got louder, stopping at his room for a split second, then slowly going away. Peter stepped out of bed slowly, slightly scared to open the door. He debated to wake up Ned, but he didn’t want to disturb his friend until absolutely necessary. He unlatched the two locks on his door, and looked out at a empty hallway. He then looked down, noticing a Disneyland bag at his feet. He picked it up suspiciously, noticing a white sticky note on the front of the bag. He gingerly pulled it off, reading the words written on it.
He noticed it was your handwriting, immediately recognizing the loops and angle of the words that made it yours.
The note didn’t have much to read. The only words written on it were-“Sorry not sorry ;)”
He smiled, shaking his head, setting the note down as he pulled out a blue lightsaber out of the bag.
Peter already had a feeling what was in the bag you had earlier, and really, he didn’t know why you went through all that trouble for him. His heart swelled with happiness, and he realized then a there he never wanted anyone but you as his girlfriend in his life.

I've been thinking a lot about Obi-wan's "certain point of view" quote and I've decided that I don't like it or agree with it that much. It seems like the kind of thing that manipulators use to gaslight people when they're can't win an argument or have been caught in a lie. Do you agree with me on this? And do you think that this is what Obi-wan was trying to do with Luke?
Yeah, it’snot a good advice to take a face value but it perfectly encapsulates whoObi-wan Kenobi is. He’s the negotiator who can convince anyone to do anything. So it makes sense for him to say something like that. Of course, it’s utterbullshit but it’s a great deflecting mechanism.
Luke: Why didn't you tell me? You told me Vader betrayed and murdered my father.Obi-wan: Your father was seduced by the dark side of the Force. He ceased to be Anakin Skywalker and became Darth Vader. When that happened...the good man who was your father was destroyed. So what I told you was true... from a certain point of view.Luke: A certain point of view?Obi-wan: Luke, you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to... depend greatly on our own point of view.
Obi-wan was caughtlying but instead of admitting he lied to Luke he turned it into somethingelse. Not only he managed to avoid owning up to his lies (notice how Obi-wannever apologizes for misleading Luke), he also made it sound like wisdom. Personally,I think this is Lucas trying to fix his own mess – Luke’s dad backstory in ANH– rather than Obi-wan being a master manipulator.  This way it feels like Vader was always meantto be Luke’s father and that Obi-wan and Yoda were playing the long game, whichworks better than the audience realizing GL was retconning ANH.
IDK if it will helpbut in the ROTJ novelization Obi-wan actually admits (kind of) it was wrong tolie to Luke like that which, imo, makes him a much more sympathetic character.
“A certain point ofview!” Luke rasped derisively. He felt betrayed—by life more than anythingelse, though only poor Ben was available to take the brunt of his conflict.
“Luke,” Ben spokegently, “you’re going to find that many of the truths we cling to dependgreatly on our point of view.” Luke turned unresponsive. He wanted to hold ontohis fury, to guard it like a treasure. It was all he had, he would not let itbe stolen from him, as everything else had been stolen. But already he felt itslipping, softened by Ben’s compassionate touch.  “I don’t blame you for beingangry,” Ben coaxed. “If I was wrong in what I did, it certainly wouldn’t havebeen for the first time. You see, what happened to your father was myfault …” [James Kahn. Return of the Jedi]
With this in mind, Idon’t feel confident in calling it gaslighting. Obi-wan wasn’t trying todismiss Luke’s reaction or putting it on his shoulder. He is avoiding admittinghis past manipulations which is pretty bad but I’m not sure this line alonecould be classified as gaslighting.
I’ll be super honestwith you here (unpopular opinion warning): I’m don’t fully get OT!Obi-wan. Ican’t relate to him, not like I do PT!Obi-wan. I know be pretty harsh withPT!Kenobi but I get him. He’s a mess but he feels far more human and relatablethan his OT counterpart so his actions – as shitty as they could be – are understandable(maybe even forgivable) because I understand where he is coming from. In the PTthe audience is aware Obi-wan is making mistakes and we get to watch him sufferfor it. Unfortunately, that’s not something I can’t say about OT!Kenobi whoseworse actions are sold as positive to the audience who is supposed to see himas nothing but the wise heroic mentor figure who never suffers from his misdeeds.

Major Characters Review
Tumblr media
I did minor characters in another post I  feel like only a small percentage will be agreeing with me on what I say in this one tbh
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD
Poe Damnson
I don’t think you understand how much I love Poe I knew he was going to be an amazing character in the beggining of tfa  and when he was messing with hux. I Never stanned a man as great as that
He made a ur mom joke get u a freak like that
Is it just me but I never got the idea in epsiode 7 Poe was a complete hothead who just shot shit and didn’t 100% listen like the idea of him being reckless is there and seen with being captured and escaping the first order and in 8 with him stalling and hoping not to get shot down but I never saw that was his entire personality and they focused a lot of time on it
Biggest m o o d is the okay relief he had when he realized finn and rose were alive and than when he saw bb8 it’s like they’ve been separated for months that’s q u a l i t y  c o n t e n t
and how every owner acts when they their see pet tbh
And listen Poe Dameron would never not listen to Leia Organa he respects her too much idk what they were thinking smh
But Oscar Isaac was amazing in every scene as he worked well with what he had so my complaints are few
@ JJ Abraham’s don’t be a coward and make Poe gay for fucks sake
In a world like this is it such a strange concept for someone to not be straight smh
Leia “men are her majority of problems”” Organa
I’m glad we got to see her use the force at least once but I felt due to the effects on the scene it looked sort of weird seeing her just floating back but i’ll take what I can get
My heart literally stopped for a second when they destroyed the ship with her in it and I never felt happier knowing that she was okay tbh
I’m really sad knowing we will never see the og on screen together I know their moving on to the new characters and stuff but I just find it disrespectful to fans in general
We all already knew Leia was an icon but she keeps besting with herself by getting out of a coma to shoot poe to knock some sense into him
IT MAKES ME SO BITTER WE ONLY GOT ONE SCENE WITH LUKE AND LEIA
Like I wish we could have seen more development in their relationship as siblings seeing as it went to them finding out their related and than to episode 8
In this house we don’t say Han and Leia were bad parents they weren’t perfect but you know they care/cared for their son.Read the book bloodline I can’t say exactly but Leia was worried about Ben a lot when the truth of Darth Vader being her father came out to the galaxy.(Which she kept hidden for understandable reasons)
In loving memory of our princess,Carrie Fisher I wanted to cry
I’m honestly terrified they won’t do carrie and leia justice in epsiode 9 seeing as it will be her last time. But Carrie as did all the actors did amazing in their scenes
Finn sweetie I’m so sorry an ugly bitch like that would do that oh my god
FINN the main reason I was excited to see this movie and they disrespected the character and John so bad
Like he was a large part and a MAIN CHARACTER in episode 7 and than suddenly he’s a side character tf
They baited us with diversity and than sidelined the black main because they weren’t sure how to write the story that included him in the right way
Honestly I’ll say it there’s racism underline in all this because if Finn was a white guy he wouldn’t have been sideline at all like this in the movie or in promos/merch
If JJ Abram’s was the writer/director for this film he wouldn’t have put finn and John in an unimportant side plot as he was the one who advocated for John to have this role because what a surprise K*thleen Kennedy wanted to cast another white guy and kept refusing at first
They gave the poc a plot that didn’t even help forward the narrative or really accomplish anything.Finn as a person didn’t develop at all which sucks with what he received compared to tfa who was amazing
And we all know who Rian Johnson’s fave is and gave the most development....
Anyway I enjoyed what he had of him I suppose I hoped there would be more to his character I felt he developed the least out of all which is horrible and I hate the fact the friendship of Rey & Finn got really sidelined
He deserved beating phasma as she was trash to him
If you think about it him being at the casino was probably the first time he was ever anywhere that nice due to the fact it hasn’t been long since he escaped the first order
it makes me sad we never see finn and luke interaction
Luke “dramatic af “Skywalker
First thing he does is throw the lightsaber what a  m o o d
To be fair nothing good has ever come from that lightsaber so what an understandable reaction
I’m so bitter we barley had any reaction of him finding out about Han being dead and not really talking to Leia about it smh
The only time I saw I really saw og luke was when he saw r2 which was so pure
Listen I heard about the milking thing beforehand but I really wasn’t prepared for that shit like 99.9% sure he did that to fuck with Rey he was enjoying that too much
Honestly Rian mistreated his character so bad I can’t even comprehend it into words first of tell me why would Luke try and kill his nephew after his father was on the dark side and fought to bring him back even though the chances were low he still tried and succeed.Killing Ben would not have been his first reaction to solving the problem as he didn’t even turn completely yet.
Yoda was unnesscary to the plot and only used him because he was cheaper than anakin or obi wan who would have showed up to solve the bs
Luke getting shot at repeatedly as the smoke clears he just dust himself up as he we see Kylo get even more pissed at him poetic cinema
But than it was ruined with the unnecessary death I’m sure but somewhat hoping we will see a force ghost but seriously it was stupid and lazy writing and we barley got anything of this older and more experienced Luke and it’s sad knowing with the inevitable ending of Leia the Skywalker family the building of this franchise is gone
Kylo “he may have been manipulated at first but he’s a grown ass man who can make his own bad decisons” Ren
I’m very iffy on this character I wouldn’t say I like him but hate is too strong of a word but I do like how Adam portrays him so...
I felt sympathy at small moments but than it’s ruined when he goes on muderous rampages...
Mainly due to how Adam plays conflicted good and it’s sad how Leia and Han two people who fought for the galaxy their kid turned out like this
What I like about this character which isn’t a lot is that they stick with the fact he isn’t a hero and a somewhat interesting villain and that will be ruined if they redeem him because it doesn’t fit his past actions.
The character snoke was wasted like who tf was he and why was he so powerful and important
Only good thing Kylo did was kill him tbh
Listen I’m not a reylo shipper but their scenes were not super bad I actually like the idea of them falling into the middle of agreement as they couldn’t be on the same side but sort of neutral terms but kylo fucked  that up and Rey is possibly back to hating him which to me is the god tier ending and the later just okay.
At this point Kylo is blaming everything on everyone else in reality he’s the one causing damage to his self and everyone else (like he cares)
And I really don’t understand how people ship reylo ship what you want whatever but they literally disagree on everything, torture, fought etc. and kylo told her she was nothing and Rey called him a monster a shit ton of times so... idk it doesn’t fit with how they responded to each other
I have a lot of thoughts right now and mixed feelings on this character but listen I like him as a conflicted villain that could become a complete villain not a conflicted hero because it doesn’t work well that way I guess I could accept a Darth Vader yeah I fucked up a lot which led to my death but I can accept that  but no the he just joins the hero’s bs
Rey that’s pretty disappointing tbh
One of the problems people had with Rey in 7 she was pretty well off in using the force with no experience
And we literally got nothing they built that up and we got no answers for why she does.
I somewhat like the idea of her parents just being nobodies it’s sad but at the same time it doesn’t fit with what was expected to get
Maybe one of her parents actually had some force abilities idk I doubt they will ever get into that
Also the possibility kylo is lying as he wouldn’t be the most truthworthy person to be making that revelation
The scene where Rey thinks she’s touching the force I love her so much
I thought we would get more Jedi training
Rey and Finn friendship erasure is gross
Her smile when she met poe was n i c e and can’t wait to see more interaction with them
I am confusion how she went to calling kylo a monster to calling him Ben so quick
Y i k e s to the unnesscary shirtless scene and Rey commenting on it
Enjoyed her more as a character in this one idk why but she certainly had character growth
