That kinda folds him into Phil's "closer" circle of friends/family since it's primarily them who carries the roses for protection so!!!!! I'm!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE TEA!! Yes the tea the way the tea immediately broaches the topic of purgatory, and yeah the audible wince in Phil's voice after Cellbit says the tea triggers him and Phil agrees. Yeah it's so shit and they're both so sick of it but it's so OP. Phil survivalist (hardcore) :handshake: Cellbit survivalist (hunger games/"The War"), do and use what is necessary to keep yourself alive.

And AAA!! Yes, okay okay so like you remember that idea abt Phil and Cellbit having late-night convos at the Order pre-purgatory? This is basically that!! It's late at night, they're getting caught up with each other, they've both got the shitass tea and it's going cold and!! In my head this scene goes on for a full night and they just sit and talk and talk and talk, eventually conking out when it's late, just like old times EXCEPT THEY HAVE THEIR KIDS NOW WHICH IS ONE OF THE THINGS THAT BROUGHT THEM TOGETHER, THEIR DESIRE TO FIND THEIR KIDS, AND THEY FOUND THEM!!! (I should write a fic i NEED to write a fic, me vs the 754389 wips in my brain; in my head they still had late night convos in purgatory when their "play time" timers lined up, phil waking up early enough and cellbit staying up late enough for them to talk while the others slept)

The way Cellbit still minces his words abt what he and Bags did post-purg 1 "we had our fun...bolas...style..." is it because he thinks Phil will think less of him? because there's children present? because his SON is present? idk how much Richas knows abt what Cellbit did in purgatory, Richas *did* rescue him while he was fighting eye workers but does he know about Cellbit hunting fellow players for sport? what Cellbit did to his pai Pac? I NEED ANSWERS

Phil's "Dude! No! Oh my god... D:" to when Cellbit says Roier was better off without him. PHIL WAS AT THEIR WEDDING. HE TOOK THE GODDAMN PHOTOS OF THEM AT THEIR WEDDING. HE SAW HOW HAPPY THEY WERE, HOW HAPPY ROIER WAS, WHEN THEY WERE REUNITED IN PURGATORY. Phil isn't close enough to Roier nor speaks to him enough to really understand the full extent of Roier's grief after purgatory 1, but it's gotta be hard for Phil to imagine Roier happy with Cellbit gone. Whether he believes it when Cellbit says "yeah Roier told me he was better" (doied WHEN I GET YOU---) is up for debate but I think about this constantly.

Phil fucking laughing when Cellbit admits he ate some of the eye workers fhdjsk. I can't get over the combo of Cellbit POV (in character thinking: "I'm terrible I'm a cannibal I'm a monster") vs Philza POV (cc who laughs at everything that is even remotely cursed) honestly, taking this as in-character (bc ccPhil doesn't mute his mic to laugh and he...usually does that for ooc bits while in the middle of rp), it says a lot abt qPhil that he's able to just laugh abt an admission of eating corpses. ethics who? geneva convention who? qPhil doesn't know her. munch on those eye workers king they're dickheads. (fuck, DOES qPhil know that Cellbit is a cannibal, as in, he has eaten not just workers but other players?? hmmm...)

"I'm sorry I couldn't do much as bolas leader" "It's better that you didn't see us...I think you'll be disappointed" "oh I could never be disappointed what do you mean shut up *laughs*" GODDDDDDDD also Cellbit trying to say he got worse after purg 1 and Phil saying "nah bolas is already at ground level" (either not understanding or indirectly reiterating that he won't condemn Cellbit for his actions, I can't tell) and then Cellbit just,, going with it. because it's not worth it to argue and he's trying to move past all of that now anyway. (QCELLBIT PROCESS YOUR TRAUMA CHALLENGE LEVEL IMPOSSIBLE)

watching Phil's POV now and HFDJSK you can't hear it on Cellbit's stream but Phil catches Richas as they're both leaving and says quietly, "Take care of your dad, Richas, n' take care." I'M 💥💥💥💥 (<-banging table)

Anyway!! This is what happens when the two characters I'm obsessed with interact for the first time in months. Over-analyzing a 5 minute convo. Sorry, it will happen again :] Praying they stay as neighbors I'd love to see archivists have more interactions!! And yes yes yes yes the tea parties with the kids!! Phil routinely chatting with Cellbit and watching him slowly "regain his color" as he settles back into peaceful life post-purgatory, falls in love with enigmas again. They've always trusted each other when they don't trust themselves, and they're both a Stable Point for the other. I'll miss what we never got to have with the leaders-of-the-Order-having-meetings ideas (timezones, wails) but I'm so excited for new island mysteries!! :D

26. fave colour and why?

I always say black, white and bright red, bcs those are my fav combo and basically the only colors that I wear, but I will tell you about my other favorite color: shades of bluish gray(slate??) These shades basically. I have at least two ocs that are just these colors, bcs I love them so much. It's just a very pretty, chill color(s), very space-like, if that makes sense?

A couple!! ok aside from this post basically. the combo means that miriam has a much longer time period that mad rat and instead of the entire world ending it's just her. audrey is basically herding her towards a cat and i feel like she's actually pretty violent before bard is like 'NOOO STOP IT'

bard may have been a cat but they're very nice and would not kill anyone. because that is mean and they are NOT mean. they may have been a stray but they'd always just beg for scraps from humans instead and give them the wettest eyes if they try to feed them a mouse.

mim is also still very distant from other people bc yeah she's still a lab rat and she's learned to not be too attached to other ppl and beside she's already alienated bc she's Weird. so bard is really the first time she's been friends with someone and the fact that she's going to die upsets her deeply. but she's glad she got to meet this stupidly nice little heart because god they're too nice but also they're so friendly and kind to her despite everything.

audrey is very much a beastie of instinct and instead of describing herself as a 'rat god' she more describes about as miriam's 'hero', 'guardian angel', whatever fits the bill for that sort of thing. even tho she very much is not and is scaring miriam into going where she wants since mim is not really a huge fan of the wish thing

a lot of the cities of wandersong is just a bunch of stray rats living and Fucking Chilling. and rat god is still a sort of legend thing but it's kind of a horror story where people go wandering into nowhere and never return.

ALSO. the heart battle is so fucking insane i bet. like bard HATES the idea of fighting miriam but they have to do SOMETHING because clearly mim isn't in her right mind. a lot of the fight is a test of patience i bet bc of this

also also! another counterpart of jack is dream king but he DOESN'T CARE about eating mim at all. lazy guy. audrey is not happy about this.

anyway so basically i want to talk about audrey here bc she's been accused of killing bard and since she's basically forced to come along with miriam and bard she's very upset.

BUT. something very important: i feel like she believes in thought crimes.

she's always prided herself on heroism and she never really thought about it before but after some time around Normal People as a Normal Person she starts to get fucked up over her new thought patterns that she developed by being a hero

this gets even worse when bard and miriam start treating her with genuine concern and kindness because she hates them, and she's certainly thought about killing them

as people start talking abt her she becomes more self conscious and it eventually comes to a climax as she is found out and people go on a full-on witch hunt over her

she's very very prone to violence and as she realizes how fucked up her destiny to end the world is she goes into a downwards spiral as she begins to think about awful things more and more and about if she HAD killed them and watched the life drain from their eyes (and she wouldn't have even felt bad)

and if she finds her sword she only gets worse as the intrusive thoughts get worse and more within reach of being completed and she can't take it

and. um

basically i gave her ocd hours. and i feel like i'm correct <3

ive always sort of taken ashley's reaction to that whole situation to be like. in that moment, emily goes from ally to potential threat, and ashley freaks out and her thought process is basically.... "remove the threat". it is mike who escalates and picks up the gun like you said. my guess is, seeing a friend get shot is way different than the possibility of them getting shot? so like... if mike shoots emily, ashley a) sees that reality and b) knows that it wouldn't have happened without her. hence the guilt. but in the case of mike putting the gun down, the potential threat is not gone in any way and ashley didnt have to see her friend Actually get shot. so her reaction is probably from the uneasiness of the situation being unresolved, until she reads the notebook, realizes there was never any danger to her from emily, and THEN feels guilty. hopefully that makes sense? combo of whether or not ashley's unease and panic is actually resolved in the moment, as well as Actually watching emily die or just... having that almost happen.

i honestly have no idea what this is in reference to, but it all makes sense to me yeah! all i wanted was just to talk abt how its kind of fucked (atleast to me) how sam's relationship goes up after ashley reveals the truth 😭 i didnt mean for this to end in a discussion abt the like...bite / shooting scene as a whole. but i appreciate you coming into my inbox nonetheless!

but yeah i really don't blame ashley for freaking out the way she did, its just silly bc didnt jack sooooort of explain the whole situation back in the lodge? i could be TOTALLY misremembering so dont take my word for it. but its just.... he mentions cannibalism and this isnt necessarily cannibalism correct? but yeah. still. ashley is totally one to jump to conclusions before her mind can rly like....digest the situation properly so its sooo in character for her to automatically assume the worse. bc look at the whole basement scene w/ the ghost? her emotions get the best of her and makes her believe things that otherwise have a "rational" / believable explanation. so i totally don't blame her at all for acting the way she does

once again, i totally forget what this could potentially be in reference to fdkgndfg so apologies for that. did they rly like. show that ash was guilty that well though? like. OBV the guilt is gonna be there since her words and actions and whatever sort of led up to the moment of em getting shot, but after that ? does she rly show anything ????? not to say that she doesn't regret what she did and said if em actually dies, bc i jusrt KNOW that isnt true, i just think mike shows more remorse than ashley does which sucks. unless its more of a ...... silent guilt. which is probably is. ive only rly watched the scene and the aftermath once so i cant remember it too clearly sorry

I think I've always talked abt this but mainly sewing ✨ has a lot to do w them growing up on a farm that mainly produces silk, their mom is a seamstress and their dad is a farmer idk if I've dumped that lol (throwing in bonus trivia that their mom is named Marmalade and their dad is Crimson cuz this is never brought up either and I need excuses lmao) so yes Lio did learn how to sew from their mom, probs know a bit of farming knowledge from their dad too, idk if I'll consider it a hobby but Lio def has some soft spot of watching plants grow and taking care of creachurs even if it's not rlly their main thing™ to them it's more like duty but they wouldn't mind doing it for the rest of their life either, I've dumped this I think but they sewed their own cape

cooking 🔥 mainly!!! As we all know mf is theeeeeee master chef of the entire cast, I wanna put him inna room w Maca and Rurene just to see them have a cook off lol (but you don't know much abt those blorbos so that's a thing for another day), Jingle's main hobby has a lot to do w his mom running a cafeteria and him helping out ever since he was a kid, he basically grew up learning the skill and cooked for his family fairly often, knows hundreds of recipes by heart and can taste out what ingredients are in a food upon tasting it lmao, Jingle cookbook when!!!!!! (Pepper canonically jokes abt this actually) but yeah he's good at it and flexes the skill quite often lol has extremely high standards for food and *will* chew you out over questionable food combos, but if he thinks a questionable combo is good himself he will defend it w his whole being and you will never win lmaooo Anyways idk if I wanna put baking as another hobby cuz it rlly does go in line w his cooking, it's a thing that goes hand in hand rlly though I kinda always hced he's better at cooking slightly, though he does have a snack mainly for making desserts, idk if smoothies count cuz that's another one of his fav things to make esp berry flavoured ones

Ig another fun one is dressing up lmaooo idk if this counts as a hobby but this is something he genuinely loves, just matching outfits and looking fashionable you just knowww his wardrobe is loaded (Rei likes to help him w this), he puts a lotttt of effort into his appearance and looks good for himself rlly instead of as a way to attract others (though that does come as a bonus and he likes to tease ppl for it) it's basically some sortttt of subversion for the trope cuz usually the flirty tease™ is known to purposely wanna look good for others' appeal (nothing against this that is) but I find it infinitely more interesting when the char does it in a way that is for self indulgence and has no intention of looking nice for others, but because of that confident energy they naturally have that charisma™

Anyways idk if this counts either but a little thing he likes is making flower crowns lol esp when going on picnics, I think having growing up in a small town makes him quite fond of nature in a way cuz he spent a lot of time as a kid exploring the woods w Rin (Rin was def the more adventurous one though) he's not that much of an explorer post arc though I'd like to think he tends to reminisce abt it by interacting w nature in a more peaceful way that calms his mind rather than reminding him of how dangerous it was, though this is also something I'm coming up on a whim cuz I rlly did slap this hobby for him for the sake of it fits his aesthetic lmao, it's just a fun thing to keep his hands busy when he thinks cooking/baking is too hectic (which can happen occasionally esp when it's what he mainly does for a living post arc), w that said he's also def the type to love making flower arrangements to decorate the cafeteria

Slightly off topic for a bit but I love how Lio's magic and identity as an explorer is quite separated from their pastimes, cuz they never intended to be an explorer to begin w and it's obvious they only learnt it at a later time for self defense, to them it is more like duty that they keep separate from their personal life, whilst Jingle's magic is completely intergrated in his hobbies cuz you just know he mainly picked up on them as basics back before he became an explorer, and even after retiring he is still fond of them and continues to use them in a way that satisfies his life post arc

Truffs

This guy is the collector everrrrrrr I can go on and on abt this lmao I think Truffs being a collector is a hc since pretty much forever tbh, I just know this adventurous spirit is the type to find cool rocks on his journey and hoard them (he literally has a pet rock collection), a load of other stuff he hoards are feathers, leaves, sticks, seashells, anything in nature rlly, I think it's a way for him to express how fond he is for the little things he find tbh, guy finds a thing and decides to keep it forever kinda applies to all of his hobbies, exactly the type to find rock in a cool shape and go around telling ppl about it, he already does it w oh look cool bug!!! Except he would rather have the bug alive in the wild so instead of keeping it in a jar he would feed them lmao, I think a bonus somewhat off topic thing is Truffs as a hoarder is slightly diff from Cindy as a hoarder cuz Cindy hoards to make new things from her peculiar trinkets (and usually doesn't have to be from nature, she's the kind to ravage through a junkyard to find bits and bolts and go ohhhhh I know what I can do w this then forgets abt it for years before it finally has a use, Truffs more so collects to preserve and almost always keeps it in it's original form as a way to appreciate what he found I'd say

To combine 🔥 his peculiar findings and pictures into one single hobby Truffs is also a scrapbook enthusiast ☝️ but yeah all his hobbies are of the same vibes rlly and I just knoww his scrapbooks are the messiest looking things and alll over the place but you can see it's made w heart lol, in a way it's quite similar to journaling without the words, Truffs more so associates his journeys with items he finds and things he saw so compiling them in itself is sorta like keeping a diary for him, this guy does not have the patience to sit down and write words on a page but you will find him in a corner w scattered scraps on the floor and having the time of his life pasting and piecing them together into an elaborate concoction, also he very much shows them to ppl allllll the time like "oooh did you know I make scrapbooks?!" I think it goes without saying that Rei loves crystals lol again it has a lot to do w her magic but also she def only picked up on crystal magic because of her fondness for it, she's a crystal collector but not in the Truffs way but solely because she wants to make jewelry out of them, she likely picked it up as a way to bring her crystals around easier but it ended up becoming something she enjoys, ngl like the Jingle making flower crowns thing I honestly came up w this for the sole aesthetic factor lmao so I honestly don't know how and where she picked up the hobby, it could be during her time when she lived in Mount. Kimoru and receiving jewels as a little girl is pretty common esp when she was pretty much spoiled and pampered by the Tree Fam

W that said I think she also just like making cute accessories in general, like beaded bracelets/necklaces/earrings (I should probs draw her wearing them tbh, even the current Rei outfit is a bit outdated cuz I have some slight tweaks in my head, she also has a shit load of bows and hairties and upon asking if you can have one she'll be all petty abt it even if she never actually wears them all lmao, but this also means if she does give you one you're probably someone that earned it (think the time she gave Jingle a hairtie when they started bonding more)

My first thought upon being asked this is *you probably only asked just to know the blood type conventions in universe* lmao and tbh while I never thought too hard abt it (or at all cuz like many things it's not very relevant, it's the equivalent of knowing a char's exact height and weight lol in which I actually do somewhat keep track of to know who's tallest to shortest), but yeah ngl I don't think they follow our ideas of what blood type is tbh, animals in our world alone don't even have the same blood types as humans do so imagine what is it like for a fantasy universe where there's millions of possible hybrid combinations

Similar to horoscopes I also don't bother assigning it to blorbos just purely based on vibes lmao esp when it doesn't rlly add anything to the character or story hence the existence of constellations (among other things), lifeblood in universe is very heavily implied to be a raw magic force for every life form in existence so it only makes sense that every being at the core is made of the same thing lol, so yes it's still blood but probably not limited to just insert categories cuz it doesn't feel lore relevant to make said categories exist at all, imagine donating blood and they're just all compiled in one single blood bank™ anyone can save anyone deal lmao

The only so called exceptions is probably how immortal blood and mortal blood are different in nature, there's a reason immortals can internally wield magic whilst mortals can only use it as an external resource, immortal blood is more magically concentrated by default that their life force is inherently stronger, also explains why attempting to infuse immortality in a mortal vessel (like in Thorn's case lmao) can cause several issues and mutations, so yes while we don't have the conventional *if the wrong blood mixes things fuck up* we do have *if the wrong blood mixes things fuck up but worse* lmaoo

Lio - mostly soft acoustic w the occasional louder tunes, in some way it shows their timid humble nature but also how they're determined and dedicated at their core, the entirety of their playlist def reeks of what they listen too tbh

Jingle - actual Jingle likes ballads but I don't have them enough in his current playlist lol I do think there's a couple loud songs in there he does like (esp during the main arc) but post arc Jingle def have a softer vibe, generally he's very sentimental so cheesy love songs are also on the list lmao, though I usually don't like to include too much romantic focused songs in individual playlists cuz those go in the ship playlists lol, I think he def vibes to some more playful sounding stuff though

Going in line w the ORCA/OWL question I think it's 100% required in the ORCA for all recruits w the strict regulations as we all know, though I think it's mostly basic first aid and medical knowledge and only those that are specialized in healing magic go on to learn further details abt the expertise, so canon wise in the main four Truffs would be the most knowledgeable in this regard, though I think Lio is def someone that went on to learn more cuz they're paranoid like that and there's no harm in knowing more than they already do lmao

In terms of OWL I'm so sure it was pushed by Conifer cuz Orion is the kinda bastard to overlook it lmao though he does try his best to make sure all the recruits don't get hurt (esp Rei) which is ironic cuz he never takes the advice himself (this is a whole plot point that leads to their fallout down the line but that's another tangent lol), so while Rei has the knowledge she's way more likely to do everything w brute force, who needs healing magic when you defend yourself well enough to not get hurt deal lmao

reading manhwa is insanely hard there truly are so few good ones…like how are there a bazillion manhwa out there but none of them have the exact trope i want?? i need the creativity to come through asap because some of these artists are wasting their hard work on the most boring midtier formulaic stories EVERRR 😭

i actually would recommend the dub solely because there’s a lot of jokes (mostly from nagi and chigiri) that the sub doesn’t have so it adds a much more humorous vibe to it!! like there’s a specific scene which i don’t remember being in the sub version that i literally had to rewind where barou is yelling at nagi in the background and he’s like “don’t talk back 😡” and NAGI LITERALLY JUST MOCKS HIM LIKE “dOn’T TaLk bAcK 😒” FJKSJS I LOST IT…they definitely decided to follow the spirit of the interactions instead of going for word for word translations so it feels like everyone’s a lot sillier!! there’s actually a lot of isagi sass too which made me like him much more than i did 😭 if you do end up watching keep me posted abt your thoughts 🫡 i think imo best dub voices in terms of fitting their characters have to be niko, anri, and reo ☝🏻 i actually also really liked that they made chigiri sound more masculine because it made him feel like more than just “girl insert of bllk” which is how a lot of people in the fandom tend to see him (side note rewatching the show helped me remember i love chigiri i just don’t like chigiri fans HAHA)

Two more days passed, long and dull and uneventful, until they happened across a path in the woods, and following it, across a town. It was hardly anything, just houses, a temple, a small farm, a tavern, and two stores, but it was more than they’d seen since leaving Tobovo. People milled about, a few of them sparing smiles at weary travellers, but mostly, they went ignored. Kai Fen was thankful for that.

Illarion stopped as they neared the tavern. Kai Fen and Michil paused next to him, watched as he swung his bag off his back and down onto one arm. He reached inside and shuffled about until pulling out his coin pouch. “Hey Diachkovsky, what d’ya drink?”

Michil’s face lit up. “Are you buying?”

Illarion made a show of stopping short, dropping his shoulders, and raising his eyes to look at Michil. It was a look that Kai Fen interpreted as saying “Really?”

“Mmmn…. then whatever’s cheapest.” Michil shrugged. “Arak, usually.”

Illarion nodded. “I’ll grab you a bottle, tell you what you owe me.” He spared a look at Kai Fen. “You want something?”

It’d be irresponsible to buy it. He should save his money.

“Medovukha,” he sighed. “Bring me a receipt.” He didn’t trust Illarion not to rip him off.

Illarion clicked his tongue twice against his teeth. Then he was off, heading to the tavern while still trying to get his arm through the other side of his backpack. Kai Fen watched him until Michil chuckled, shook his head in what looked like amusement.

“What a guy,” he murmured. He looked down at Kai Fen. “Wanna see what’s at the store?”

The answer was not a whole lot. As Kai Fen poked through the grains and seeds and animal feeds, he tried not to be too disappointed. He shouldn’t expect a lot from places like this, but he always did. He was just so entirely sick of their food rations. It was all the same thing day in and day out and he wanted for anything different at all. He supposed the medovukha would offer some relief.

“Are you looking for anything specific?” the shop owner asked in Vwosi.

“Food,” he answered. He racked his brain for the Vwosi word for spices, ended up just sending panicked glances around for Michil until managing to catch his eye. Mercifully, he came to rescue. “Spices,” he murmured to him, and Michil translated the word to the shop owner. Kai Fen repeated the word under his breath.

now what does this mean in a real battle? a few months ago, i was curious and so i made a spreadsheet of 1v1’s between the seven, reyna, nico, and meg, and who i expected to win/why

the conditions of this was that they existed in a void, were allowed their primary weapons, no outside resources (water, earth, metal, godly interference) allowed, the aim to kill, and most importantly - no emotions/no morals (like, in a percy v annabeth fight, obvi neither would try to kille ach other - this was just me attempting to figure out who would win a fight quickest based solely off their powers, demigod abilities, and fighting skills

and i truly did feel bad about including will in this at first. i thought that he didn’t have a chance. but i wanted to include him anyway bc he’s my fav character. can you imagine my surprise when he got 3rd place overall, tied with leo at beating 7 characters in 1v1’s? (the top two were nico and percy btw, i don’t think that’s surprising at all)

so here’s those individual fights and how i think he would win (again, this is completely unrealistic, i just wanted to test their powers/potential)

percy v will: percy wins. i really don’t think that’s a surprise, i’m not claiming will’s the most powerful, just that he deserves more credit - anyway, i do think that percy could control the liquids in anyone’s body (he got second place and ik this is gonna be controversial but i do think that nico could beat him in a 1v1 no restrictions)

annabeth v will: will wins. the main strategy i used was a sonic whistle for distraction, then followed by a blinding light beam and plague powers. he could probably win with just one of the three and then an arrow, or another combination, or just cut out the sonic whistle and go straight in from the blinding light beam - however i think that takes like a few seconds to generate so i’m not sure. but either way, annabeth’s strategy does rely more on logic and her words so in a fight based on speed, it’d go to will

frank vs will: will wins. sonic whistle could affect animals too, even more so actually in certain cases (as seen with the dogs), so if frank tried to turn into a small animal or something to avoid the light beam, the whistle would still affect him. and then the plague powers again. frank does have more skill with a bow and arrow, but the whistle would be quicker

hazel vs will: again with the speed of the sonic whistle. if there was like a ground/metals around to manipulate i do think it would go to hazel, but because will’s power doesn’t rely on a weapon that she could manipulate using metal powers, the whistle/light combo would be quicker than her ability to manipulate the mist. fight goes to will!

leo vs will: i think that leo could defend himself from the light rays, but i think the sonic whistle would again throw him for just a bit of a distraction - long enough to get the plague powers going. leo relies a bit more on his building abilities than his fire powers, so if he managed to get will immediately with the fire then i do think it’d be a bit of a toss up - but yeah i gave this one to will

piper vs will: sorry piper but in a void where emotion is like not a factor charmspeak was pretty much rendered useless- fight goes to will

jason vs will: this one was tough for me because i was trying to figure out what would be faster: a light beam or lightning. i decided they’d probably end up like exploding in the middle or something, and then will would use the distraction to strike jason with a plague power (and even if jason tries to fly away from that, it wouldn’t really avoid the disease) but this one’s abt as close to a draw as it gets. i still gave it to will though

nico vs will: yeah that’s going to nico, but this is what i said in the table: sonic whistle could distract nico momentarily, but nico uses instant ghost powers, even if plague powers are enacted, resilience/pain tolerance pulls through

will vs meg: the problem with meg here too was that she relies a lot on plants and the environment, whereas will has the powers come straight out of him, and even though meg is a stronger fighter with weapons… well, blinding light beam and plague powers. i think that’s a combo that can defeat almost anything

and obviously these fights would severely exhaust him, but it’s just about taking the potential of these powers and put them up against each other - don’t take it too seriously. it isn’t even really the main point of the argument, but i just wanted to add it on the side

I’m late but abt the gravity falls thing, part of why Mabel and Dipper were so close was because they’re twins. (Source: I’m a twin lol) twins, from my own experience and what I can see of others, are a lot closer to each other than usual. It’s a combo of hitting the growing milestones at the same time and being around them so much you tend to work out the shit. I know me and my twin were REALLY excited to see media focusing on twins, we holed up and watched each new episode drop and I got him dippers hat and he got me Mabel’s sweater. There’s def some stuff in their dialouge that like. Written by someone who doesn’t have a sibling let alone a twin, but given that it was a Disney show, I tended to just overlook that. It def had its issues, but I just can’t bring myself to hate it bc of how much it meant to me and my brother. Idk if this makes sense lol, just as someone who’s most important relationship in the world and the only person who’s ever stuck with me is my twin, while also having two older siblings who either hated us or ignored us, I tend to just suck up sibling stories as long as they aren’t egregiously bad yknow? That said. The Gravity Falls fandom can kill itself that shit actually traumatized me.

I feel like you must get asked this often and I'm sorry, but how is everyone you draw always so well-dressed? Do you have a source/sources of fashion inspiration or is it more of an innately incredible sense of style that I can only envy from afar? (I love your art!!)

FIRST i will confess to u smth.. all of my Fashion and Design Aesthetics were formed in my TENDER YOUTH watching eureka 7 and reading like, really fashionable shoujo manga + IMMORTAL RAIN in PARTICULAR. one of my most substantial influences is 70s mod fashion (the combo result of e7 and I Watched Austin Powers Probably Too Much As A Child) which isnt always apparent in the actual outfits but is usually p apparent in like.. HOW i draw them (clean/concise silhouettes, a lot of straight lines and curve combos accentuating each other). more than fashion fit design itself i rely LARGELY on breaking the body up into shapes and sections and then mold clothes to fit however i want to section those shapes. I HAVE NO IDEA IF THAT MAKES SENSE but THIS oc thing i did the other day kind of showcases what i focus on in terms of visual appeal when i do outfits.

i also like to think about personality when it comes to designing fits- like, what does the character enjoy, what is their GOAL w their clothing?? the ones i drew there are all a Specific Look that oc cultivates, which is WEAPONIZED SEXUALITY so her sexy fits are revealing but not TOO revealing bc its a tease not an invitation. her ultimate goal is to throw ppl off their guard and have them underestimate her, which is why her OTHER aesthetic is like, CHASTE INNOCENT SUNDAY SCHOOL ATTIRE. everything i draw her in is designed w her Goals in mind, if that is making any sense at all. ig what i am trying to say is that i always think in terms of like WHY would the character wear this, WHAT purpose do they utilize their clothes for? if i can narrow that down then i usually can visualize smth OR narrow down to a Clothes Genre and work from there

HERE are some brief annotations for my thought process on designing these outfits. i based them all off cape coats and pea coats so those were my references once i got it down to a GENRE. SIMILARLY i thought abt some of ninos canon aesthetics in THIS draw for the color palette (THE BUBBLER, SPECIFICALLY, OBVIOUSLY), BUT this is one of those cases where i just went w MY preferences for what i want to see chars in, same w marinettes fit. you can really see my 70s influence w ninos little booty shorts tbh

OTHERWISE YEAH. i just pull stuff outta my cavernous little noggin and call it good!! every set of pjs ive drawn marinette in are just things i think are cute and want to draw her in, not necessarily smth i think shed wear in the show. i dont look up fashion insp stuff v often but i used to spend soooo much time on lookbook back in the day (is lookbook still a thing??????). overall i just mix n match shit i KNOW i like, which usually means a lot of croptops if i am being honest here

First of all i just wanted to say how much youve improved over the course of making this comic!! the lineart is so much Smoother and neater, the shading is so PRETTY, i love how youve done the backgrounds, whether you actually draw them or put flowers or something else behind the characters, and the layout looks so much more proffesional and puts the focus on the right things!! ALSO your anatomy has improved sm and i love all the wild expressions!!

Also i LOVE the teal colouring with pink accents, its such a pretty combo and its kinda like your trademark now!!

And obviously the whole story is so GOOD. i love how you cranked up the Idiot Meter to 1000000 bc YEAH theyre IDIOTS!! I loved the whole Clownbug part with ladybug discovering chats in love with marinette and being ANGRY abt it, its one of my favourite flavours of love square, and pt 6 of the comic was also SO entertaining!! miscommunication my beloved <3

I also love the first panel of pt nine, its just so pretty!! and ofc the shenanigans with the design contest, it feels v realistic and you absolutely NAILED mari's character!!

And the bee miraculous akuma is GORGEOUS!! it looks v menacing but also rlly cool and i would KILL to see the full design

When I started this my only goals were to scratch my lovesquare itch and get comfortable drawing again after being out of the habit for years. I had, idk maybe ten followers and did not expect anyone to read it or that I would actually manage to draw more than five parts or so AND NOW HERE WE ARE lol. I am so happy that you can see an improvement in the art, not just in how the characters are drawn but stuff like backgrounds and the visual storytelling as well. I hope to get better and better with each part!

Reading your comments about the characterization makes me wanna screech with happiness because I LOVE. THESE. IDIOTS. SO MUCH it is ridiculous!! RIDICULOUS! And as much as I adore leaning into them being incredibly stupid, it is important to me to show how much tenderness lies at the heart of their interactions. They are so, so stupid because they’re so, so sweet. Confessions is very much “journey over destination” because I just want to indulge in as much insanity, humor, awkwardness, confusion, affection, devotion, and partnership I can manage to tease out of their relationship in one story.

The color palette btw was a complete and total happy accident! Sometimes a thing works because you put lots of thought and effort into it, and sometimes a thing works because you fell on it. The color palette is an example of the latter but THE JACKET is an example of the former, haha. The amount of time it took to develop not just the meaning of it but literally the physical design (gotta look like something Marinette might actually make, gotta be something that I can draw a bunch of times, gotta be something that [spoilers redacted], gotta be something that fits over Chat’s shoulders, gotta be something that actually looks good, omg.) I have a whole post about it already but still more to say because I always have more to say! this is so much rambling I’m sorry

One of the big challenges I’ve had in trying to make a comic is figuring out how to balance what to say, what to show, and what to imply. The jacket is first and foremost exactly how Marinette presents it, a means to hopefully reach Adrien and deliver the card from his classmates. The specifics behind the design are more implied. Marinette pours a week of blood sweat and tears into creating this jacket, and as far as Chat Noir sees, she is single-mindedly focused on that task. But we all know she’s ALSO carrying the responsibilities and concerns of being Ladybug. Losing the Miraculous is obviously like... the biggest thing, a terrible and invisible weight that she carries alone!

Except not, because Chat Noir is there. He’s there for Ladybug, he’s there for Marinette, he’s a constant presence in her life and his support allows her to move beyond the shame and horror of losing the Miraculous. Marinette embroiders the symbols of the stolen Miraculous centered around the ladybug and surrounded by irises (sorry they aren’t roses!), and it looks like a topical show of support for her local superheroes; Ladybug embroiders the symbols of the stolen Miraculous centered on the ladybug and surrounded by irises and it’s a promise to her city that she’s going to get them back. (That she stitches the symbol of the cat in the left-hand side of the lining so that it zips over the wearer’s heart might mean something too but that was... more subconscious.)

ANYWAYYYYYYYYYYY I hope that my long-winded rambling comes across appropriately as a sign of JUST HOW THRILLED I am to have received this beautiful thoughtful ask. Hopefully the behind the scenes talk was fun to read haha. I am so honored and I hope you continue to enjoy the story!!
