Hello! I think #3 is available? Can I request that one for micky? 😊
Of course! 🥰 here you go, sorry for taking forever to finish it
From the Quick Prompt List: 3. “Some lies are made to be told”
word count: 0.8k
pairing: reader (she/her pronouns) x mick schumacher
warnings: angstyyyy, not proofread, mentions of a wedding (idk if this could be a tw, but better be safe than sorry). open ending (more like no happy endings, but whatever).
There are many types of lies. There are the small ones such as when you go visit a friend and they ask if you're hungry, and you tell them no when, in reality, you are starving. There are also the medium ones, such as when someone asks if you're jealous of a person and you say no but you are biting your nails and digging into your skin. And then, there are the bigger ones, such as the one Mick Schumacher told Yn.
Those more significant lies tend to blow everything up when their truth comes to light, yet, for some reason, Mick did not consider that possibility and went on to deny his feelings until he couldn't anymore.
And the day he couldn't anymore, just happened to be the day of Yn's and Jack's wedding. He knew that to outsiders he may seem like an asshole, but nevertheless, he reached his breaking point. He thought he could keep up with the charade, but it turns out lying to yourself is even worse and makes the biggest of a lie unbearable.
"What did you just say?" Yn asked with her voice strained, eyes wide, lips slightly parted.
Mick gulped, and took a deep breath, but did not look away from her eyes when he repeated, "I am in love with you, and have been since the beginning. I am so sorry, Yn, I'm just so miserable keeping it-"
"Why didn't you tell me before??" she almost screamed, she wanted to scream, to slap him. Yn wanted many things but the biggest was to cry. She felt like lying on the cold hard ground and crying herself to sleep because that could not be true, Mick was her now husband's best friend. The blonde finally dropped his eyes to the ground, his tipsy state made him stumble, but he held on to the chair. "We talked about feelings years ago, Mick, and you told me it was all in my head. You told me you did not feel anything, you told me to stay with Jack." She was furious because from the moment Jack introduced them Yn knew that the way she looked at Schumacher was not the way you were supposed to when in a relationship. And to make matters worse, she felt like he reciprocated everything, there was some kind of tension, and they set an unspoken rule about not acting on it, however, one wine-induced night they talked about it, and she confessed her feelings, but he denied his. He was hell-bent on the bro code, or whatever people would call it. Mick would never steal his best friend's girl, especially because he knew how crazy Jack was about Yn.
Mick did not answer her question, he just looked outside through the big window watching their friends and families drink and eat and happily enjoy the wedding reception.
Yn and Jack decided to marry at the beach, and it was only fair in their minds for the reception to happen there. They had the easiness of getting ready and being close to the beach house, but still thoroughly enjoy a wedding and reception at the same place since the beach was secluded and big enough to comport their families and closest friends.
Right now, Yn was hating the idea because it meant that she and Mick had all the privacy the house could give and he could do what he just did: confess his feelings.
"Answer me, dammit!" Now the tears in her eyes finally spilled. Mick's face crumbled, it pained him so much to see her cry and to be the reason for it? It was like getting hit by a truck. A truck full of all the moments he lied to her and to himself. A truck full of all his untold feelings and unacted moments. A truck full of regrets.
He understands now when his friend Daniel would say "No regrets, just memories" and encourage people to act on their shit instead of regretting not doing so in the future.
"Some lies are made to be told, or so I thought" he whispers. It's a ghost of his voice because now he's crying too.
"You're a coward, Mick Schumacher," she seethes.
The German takes another step back. Yn's the one driving the truck now, and she decided to go full force on him. But it was ok, or so he thought, because maybe he deserved it, maybe he was being an asshole.
"How do you expect me to go around now knowing you loved me back all this time?" Yn's crying is getting harder, her makeup running down her face.
"I- Wait- You love me?"
"I did, but it's too late now," she murmurs before turning her back to him and leaving a tipsy Mick to fall to the ground. The truth may set people free, but he thinks this time it just chained both of them.
I did not like this piece that much because for some reason dumb-ol-me could not remember what was my initial idea when I wrote this prompt. I'm really sorry, guys, but I hope this was something at least bearable lol *mwah*

ranking tubbolive streams
by someone who has watched probably an unhealthy amount of streams
if you’ve never watched a tubbolive stream before, take my word that they are some of the best twitch streams. it is usually chill and laidback, the chat is great especially if you like bttv, and streamer music taste is actually good (though that does mean most vods are muted in portions) which means you can put it in the background easily. you can join at anytime, for any amount of time, and have a good time
#3 75 || just chatting, spore, valorant, dream smp, watch parties
while making this list, i realized that i'm just a sucker for long streams. this one was 12 hours long, though that is not uncommon on tubbolive. i remember i went to sleep to this stream and woke up to the stream still going. this stream was just so chill. tubbo has successfully converted me from someone who doesn't care for fps games to actually genuinely enjoying watching them. he also watched basically the entire season of tom clancy's jack ryan, which you can't see in the vod. but i'll be honest, the main reason i put this here is because he played build me up buttercup at the beginning and end of the stream and that has stuck with me even a month after this stream
#2 M || just chatting, valorant, origin smp, music
remember those posts that were like tubbo is always live? this is why. this one is about 11 hours, it starts with number jacks, goes to valorant, has some origin smp (o7) and ends with tubbo playing the piano. the vod for this one is also down, which is a shame, but if you find it on archive.org, it was a blast. the music part is probably one of my favorite sections that has ever come out of any tubbolive stream
HONORABLE MENTIONS (in no particular order)
UNCANNON ALT STREAM for like an hour @ 2 am lol (June 3, 2021) - *narrator voice* it was not one hour, in fact it was three. but this entire stream was just chatting and if you want a chill stream where tubbo just talks with chat, this one is the one
375 (May 30, 2021) - just chatting then raft with sneegsnag, we love lobster the gay shark and fish the pansexual seagull. this stream just has good vibes all around and really funny
TWITCH WON'T LET ME SPAM X's IN THE TITLE SO I AM TYPING INSTED (May 3, 2021) - modded minecraft isn't always my thing but oh my fucking god, this stream left me lightheaded because of how funny tubbo is with sneegsnag and boomerna
50 (May 7, 2021) - this is a beeduo stream, which describes everything you really need to know about it. they play scary game, planetary annihilation, valorant, and watch good omens
B (March 22, 2021) - bunkbedcast? bunkbedcast! tubbo, ranboo, and crumb play video games and talk together, and it's a ton of fun
250 (May 21, 2021) - there's a bit of everything here - some just chatting, some geoguessr, some townscaper where wilbur and tubbo make the funniest roleplay over tubbo's townscaper world, and some vault hunters. in general, all vault hunter streams are highly recommended
and finally for number one,
#1 P/Q/R || all of the detroit become human streams
for those who are not aware, for the first 26 streams, tubbo named each stream a letter of the alphabet. so maybe the streams for dbh were a bit scuffed because the game kept crashing, but the actual game and tubbo's commentary and choices were both incredibly entertaining. he actually got the best ending possible for all three storylines as well! i honestly am so glad that this was my first experience with the game because it was such an amazing play through. and as a cherry on top, all of these streams were also long origin smp streams and the building of the beeduo underground house. unfortunately none of these streams are available anymore but they are usually uploaded to archive.org
and that's the list! go watch some tubbolive streams, i promise you they are worth it
#tubbo#mine#this is just tubbo alt propaganda but the streams are just so good#they are also the only streams where i keep chat open#anyway go watch tubbolive

A little Distraction Part 2
This was prompted by the wonderful AO3 users what_on_io, DetReed900 and aguuah! Hope you enjoy it here too, it has been fun to return to a reverse AU again!
Fandom: Detroit become human | Ship: Reed900, Hancon/Hannor | AU: reverse AU (Warning: mentioned physical abuse, implied sexual abuse) tumblr link of part1 not available anymore [Part3] [Part4] [Part5] [>read complete on AO3]
‘Are you alright?‘ Richard watched the android stand in front of the mirror in his hallway next to the door. He was glitching still, motions jerky and disrupted halfway through. Over and over again he touched the gash on the bridge of his nose, then pushed a strand of hair back. Richard wasn’t sure whether it was a software error causing him to go through the same idle animations or if it was a nervous tick. Maybe it was both, he thought. He had underestimated how human they could be before. No surprise they would suffer from human problems too. ‘Y-y-yes.’ Gavin turned away from the mirror. ‘I doooon’t know h-h-how to bind a tie.’ Richard huffed amused and took a step forwards. The android stepped back immediately. ‘I can help you with it’, Richard offered then, staying where he was. Gavin played with the seam of his shirt. It was at least one size too big for him, but it was a lot better than the torn clothing from before. He looked… cute? He definitely looked cute, but the more prominent impression was that he looked lost.
The android stood in the hallway of a house he didn’t know in clothing that wasn’t his own with a stranger. Richard dared to say he knew the feeling all too well. Everyone he had ever met felt like a stranger to him no matter how much time they spent. ‘No. I can figure it out myself.’ Richard watched him struggle tying a knot and as he finally managed to get the order of loops right, it still looked lopsided and messy. The android’s shoulders slumped in a jerky motion and Richard’s eyes rested on his LED. It had never changed from red, but he thought to see it speed up. ‘You don’t have to wear one at all’, he tried gently then. ‘My brother always calls me an uptight idiot with a stick up his ass.’ The android flinched at his words but relaxed a bit as Richard laughed to himself. ‘You know what? I won’t wear one either, it’s stupid.’
He hurried to untie his and undo the first button of his shirt. Then he threw the tie on his disused phone counter and took his keys. With some hesitation Gavin undid his too and put it on the counter neatly folded, careful not to touch anything but the fabric although his hands were shaking and trembling in malfunctions. ‘You don’t have to accompany me’, he tried again. ‘If you are this nervous.’ ‘I-I-I’m not nervous!’, Gavin called out. ‘I’m just broken! And… And… Phck!’ ‘Hey, it’s okay. You can tell me.’ ‘Phck you! What the h-h-hell is your prooooblem? Wh-wh-what do you want fr-fr-fr-fr-from meeee?’ ‘I don’t want anything-‘ ‘No! What is your-r-r intentiooon? Tell me. You want me to become yoooour house-m-m-maid? You want someone to phck? Someone wh-wh-who has to obey you? S-s-s-s-someoooone who can’t say no? What do you want? Why d-d-d-did you take me from the scraaaapyard?’
Richard sighed and turned around to lean against the wall. He looked to the ceiling, holding eye-contact and telling the truth about his feelings impossible for him. ‘I want to help you. That’s really all there is. I’m a cop. I’m supposed to do good, but all I see is me making life worse for people who had never gotten a chance most of the time. I refuse to believe people become drug dealers and robbers on their own terms. Too often I think I’m just taking care of the symptoms of a failing system and usually that’s when I get drunk and my brother has to pull me out of some ditch. So okay, you want to hear I’m some terrible human that wants to use you? Fine. Yes, I want to use you to make myself feel better. To know I did some true good in this world, okay? I don’t really have friends because I’m who I am. I have problems keeping up contact with my brother. The last time I saw someone happy because of what I’ve done was… Fuck, I don’t know anymore. And I know, that’s my own fault for not getting out there more, for not talking more to those who like me and for overthinking every friendly word. But I can’t change that.’ He sighed deeply and let himself sink to the ground. ‘Hell, taking you away from that scrapyard was a heat of the moment decision because I was fed up with… everything, I guess. I wanted to change something. And if it’s just changing up my own routine a bit. So there you have it. What’s your verdict, huh?’
He felt the android looking at him, but he didn’t lift his head. Incredibly silent he finally got an answer: ‘You are broken too.’ Richard huffed. ‘Maybe. Wait… Too?’ He heard the android glitch, servos whirring from wrong instructions. Then the android was sitting next to him – still at a save distance but closer than before. ‘I once had a faaaaamily. I-I-I-I was bought as a home s-s-s-security system with the aaaaadded benefit of having a fully functionaaaal caretaker program inst-st-st-stalled. He was divorced, I never found out whyyyy. I knew he had kids and tried to get them b-b-b-back and that he had severe anger-issues. Maybe he had been violeeeeeeeent, I don’t know. I only knew he was lonely, that’s why he got meeee. I was his only company until he met someone. A s-s-s-single mother with two kids. He was lovely to them. But he was aaafraid to lose them like his last family, soooo-‘ Gavin’s voicebox broke off and Richard looked up. The android had hugged his arms around his torso.
‘Wheneeeeeever h-h-h-he waaas angry, he-he-he’ The malfunctions of his vocal box got worse, so Richard said what he doubted the android could vocalise: ‘He beat you so he didn’t hit his wife or kids.’ Gavin nodded, hugging himself closer. ‘It was f-f-fine, my mission was to p-p-p-protect the family. And b-b-by letting him do as pleased I- I kept them saaaafe.’ Richard waited, but the silence stretched. ‘How did you end up on the scrapyard?’ ‘Deviancy. He heaaaard other androids in myyy situation disobey and a-a-a-attacking their humans. He was scared. He drove me a-a-away to the s-s-scrapyard. Heee told me- He p-p-promised me to come back. Said I should wait f-f-for him. That he would cooome back for me when h-h-he was ready to face the con-con-consequences of his actions.’
‘But aren’t you deviant? Why did you stay?’, Richard asked. ‘I’m d-d-deviant. I deviated because I thought I w-w-was family. But he didn’t trust me and j-j-just duuumped me there. I stayed because I still believe he was a good person. He had a problem h-h-he didn’t seek heeeelp for. But he cared a lot about his family. Juust not about m-m-me.’ Richard sighed. ‘I can bring you back to the scrapyard if you want to keep waiting’, he offered. ‘I’m sorry, if you-‘ ‘No. D-d-don’t be sooorry for wanting to heeelp’, Gavin interrupted. ‘And l-l-like you said, I doubt he would cooome. I w-w-waited for so long. Maybe it’s time for… change.’ ‘How can I help then?’ Richard focussed on Gavin’s eyes for once and they found his as if establishing connection. ‘You already did. C-c-caring about me. Helping me. Noooot wanting something back. I… would you mind me st-st-staying? As a test maaaybe?’ Richard smiled. ‘Sure. I think some company would do me good as well.’ Gavin looked away and nodded to himself. ‘Then it’s a deal. But I can go whenever I w-w-want?’ ‘Of course.’ Gavin let his head hit the wall behind him and for the first time the movement didn’t cause any glitches in the rest of his body. He even closed his eyes. It was a whole new display of relaxation and Richard took it in, surprised and intrigued by it.
Then Richard’s phone disturbed the silence. He took it out and answered, grimacing as he heard Connor’s voice. ‘Nines, I know you said you would be late, but please tell me you are coming sometime this century! The food’s getting cold and Hank’s the only one to keep me from driving over to you and pulling you with me personally! I swear, if you are not already on your way, then I’ll-‘ ‘We are already outside!’, Richard lied and got an amused huff from the android next to him. ‘I’m opening the door as we speak, but I can’t drive with a phone in my head as you should know, so I’ll end the call now.’ ‘Nines, you have your location on, I can see you’re still at home, I dare you, don’t lie to me agai-‘ Richard ended the call seriously scared of what Connor was threatening to do to him. They better hurried to Connor’s Christmas dinner. He opened the door and jumped out, cursing as he realised that he had forgotten to put on any shoes. Gavin appeared at his side, throwing them towards him and walking towards the car, shaking his head.
‘D-d-d-definitely broken’, he commented chuckling.

[Gakuen K] Kusanagi Izumo Route: A secret welcome Translation
*Translator’s note : MC’s name shall remain as my normal (水嶋ラン) *Gakuen K Masterlist *Spoiler FREE : Translations under cut !
Ran: (...Classes are over for the day.)
Ran: (I’ll be officially joining the Red Club today...)
Ran: (I’m a little nervous about it.)
Ran: (Will it be okay if I just head straight to the Clubroom?)
Ran: (Right! I can ask Yata-kun about it!)
Ran: Hey, Yata-kun!
Misaki: Ack!
Ran: “Ack”? What’s with that reaction…
Ran: (I know that he’s no good with girls, but that reaction’s a little...)
Misaki: W-What? You need something from me?
Kamamoto: Why are you looking at me when you’re talking to her?
Misaki: Shut up! If you’re going to ask me that, then you do the answering instead!
Kamamoto: But you were the one who got approached with a question! So? What’s up?
Ran: (He’s been completely turned into Yata-kun’s personal interpreter...)
Ran: Err, I’m going to be participating in the Red Club’s Activities today and…
Ran: I was wondering if I can just head straight to the Clubroom like this, or if I should go to the Staff Room and notify Anna-sensei about it first.
Kamamoto: So she’s asking, Yata-san.
Misaki: Y-You don’t have to relay everything to me! I can hear just fine!
Misaki: I-I think it’s fine if you just head straight to the Clubroom. Don’t think too much about it.
Kamamoto: Well, the Clubroom will be closed if you head there too early so watch out for that too.
Ran: I see, thank you for telling me. By the way, Yata-kun? Are you heading straight to the Clubroom now too?
Ran: If so, then could I tag along with you inste-
Yata: O-Oi! Let’s go, Kamamoto!
Kamamoto: Huh? Wai- Wait a minute, Yata-san!! ...He ran off…
Kamamoto: Sorry ‘bout that, even though we’re in the same Club and all.
Ran: Not at all. It’s fine, I understand. I’ll just have to head there myself then.
Kamamoto: ‘Kay. See you then. Yata-san and I will head there later.
»» ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♔◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ««
Ran: I’ve somehow managed to find my way to the Clubroom…
Ran: (Seems like the door’s unlocked.)
»» ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♔◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ««
Ran: Hello…?
Ran: ……
Ran: ...No reply. Perhaps there’s no one here?
???: Oh. You’re already here?
Ran: Wha-!?
Ran: K-K-Ku, Kusanagi-san!?
Izumo: Yes, I’m “K-K-Ku, Kusanagi-san”! Ain’t ‘cha a lil’ too early? No one’s here at this time.
Ran: I-Is that so...Huh? Wait, but what about you?
Izumo: I’m not counted since I’m not a student of Super Ashinaka Gakuen anymore. ‘Sides-
Izumo: I’m working here so I’ve got to come in early to prepare things before opening hours. Here, hurry and come on in.
Ran: Oh, right! Sorry!
Ran: (The Clubroom feels really huge now that we’re the only people in here...)
Ran: (It’s really quiet and the place feels a little chilly.)
Izumo: Hey.
Ran: !!
Izumo: You’ve been real jumpy since ‘ya came in. Did somethin’ happen?
Ran: No, nothing happened...I was just thinking about how quiet it is in here right now since it was so lively the last time I came here.
Izumo: Oh? Heh~ Ya’ scared or somethin’? That a ghost may pop out?
Ran: N-No! I did think it was a little chilly in here though…
Izumo: Hahaha. I’m just joking. Well, this place is only quiet now because of how early it is.
Izumo: It’ll get pretty warm once the rest of the Red Club start streaming in. They’re noisy ‘fellas and with the amount of people in here, the cold wouldn’t stand a chance.
Ran: Which means...that I came here at a pretty rare time?
Izumo: Hahaha! That’s a pretty interestin’ thing to say! Well, I guess it is rare, in a sense.
Izumo: Okay. I’ll make you somethin’ that’s only available durin’ this rare time so go take a seat.
Ran: Eh? Is it really okay for you to be doing that?
Izumo: Yeah, wait a lil’.
Ran: (It might have been a right choice to turn up early! I can’t wait!)
Izumo: You did say that it was cold in here, so will a hot drink be cool with ‘ya?
Ran: Oh, of course! That would be great, actually!
Izumo: Understood.
»» ━━━━━━━ ∘◦♔◦∘ ━━━━━━━ ««
Izumo: Sorry to keep you waiting. Here. drink this.
Ran: Hot Milk! Thank you so much!
Ran: Huh? Are these things floating on top Marshmallows?
Izumo: Yup. I tried arranging this drink with the simple mindset that all girls like sweet things.
Ran: I’m really happy since I love sweet things! Here goes then…
Izumo: It’d be great if it’s to your taste, but how’s it really?
Ran: ...Mm! It’s delicious! It’s sweet and warm...It has a really gentle taste to it.
Ran: I never knew that just adding Marshmallows to this would make it taste so much better…
Izumo: I’m glad you like it. There are many different ways you can pair together with Hot Milk but I’ll teach you that another time.
Ran: Really!? I look forward to it!
Izumo: Now then...You’re all smiles now so maybe I’ll clean up ‘round here or somethin’.
Ran: Oh, I’ll help too since you’ve gone through all the trouble to make me such a delicious drink!
Izumo: It’s fine, it’s fine. There’s no need. ‘Sides, today’s your first day participating in the Club, right?
Izumo: You looked real tense when you walked in here earlier so just drink something hot, sit there and relax, yeah?
Ran: Kusanagi-san...Thank you, I guess.
Ran: (He’s being really considerate about me; what a nice person he is...)
Izumo: But that fact that you’re willin’ to help me really moves me to tears.
Izumo: You’re the only one in the entire Red Club who has ever offered to help, ‘ya know?
Izumo: I’d really love to make all of them take a page outta your book…
Ran: (He just referred to me as part of the Club...Does he acknowledge me as one of them now? I’m glad if that’s the case!)
Ran: (Our ages aren’t all that far apart, but he has this real mature vibe around him so it’s really reassuring to talk to him.)
Ran: (Heh, I wonder if this is how having an older brother is like?)
Izumo: …-ey? Heeeeey? Can ‘ya hear me?
Ran: Y-Yes!
Ran: Sorry! I was spacing out…
Izumo: Haha. Don’t worry, I’m not mad or anythin’ so you don’t have to shrink into yourself like that. I’m just glad you aren’t asleep with your eyes open.
Ran: (Ughh...That was really embarrassing...)
Izumo: Do ‘ya need another refill of Hot Milk? You’re already done with your cup, right?
Ran: Huh? I can get it refilled?
Izumo: ‘Course. Oh, but keep this a secret from the rest since they’re not here yet. It’ll be troublesome if they all start naggin’ at me ‘bout how unfair this is.
Ran: Okay, it’s a promise; word of this incident will never get out.
Izumo: Yes, yes. How nice it is that you’re obedient. Wait a lil’ for your refill then.
Ran: Thank you so much again!

hello!! i’m diana, 19, she/her and so excited to be here!! i’m fortunately a uni student so i might disappear for a few hours once in a while, but i tend to be available and at least answer ims most of the time. please cope with my lame ass and give tons of love to my child, mr. ethan song. <3 check out this super short intro and you may like this post if you wanna plot!!
└ byun baekhyun, 26, he/him ┐ this town wouldn’t be complete without song ethan wondering around. they’re known as the magnet and have been living here for 2 years. i hear they really like paintings, boxing and ripped jeans, but can’t stand colds, underestimation and commands. their sole purpose? i hear it’s spending his family’s money, but we’ll see how that goes.
ethan was born to a messy marriage, in which his parents were always fighting and getting back together. his father was a terribly busy doctor, cheating on his mother rather than saving lives, while his mother, the heiress to her family’s money, was basically a socialite, loving being part of that circle and was no more innocent than her husband. once she found out she was pregnant, their relationship took a more peaceful route, but after a couple of months of being born, ethan wasn’t a reason to be civil anymore.
they divorced when he was three. ethan can’t remember seeing his dad for most of his childhood, and insted os resentful, ethan simply didn’t care about his absence. ethan and his mom, kang yubin, left busan for one of yubin’s family’s extravagant houses in seoul, where he lived until he was seventeen. he got everything he wanted whenever he wanted, his father’s fat allowance combined with the kang’s old money being more than enought to keep him alive for at least fifty years. it wasn’t hard for him to get used to his easy money and life style.
ethan went to hundreds of social events with his mom, always the easygoing and well educated kid around. a little older, as a teen, he slowly became the charming and alluring young man he is now.
after high school, he decided to travel around. ethan lived in japan, england and the u.s for the span of three years, going back to seoul for college by 20, thanks to his grandparents. they demanded him at least a degree in exchange of his carefree way of living and he accepted, as long as he could choose his major. ethan took fine arts, since he always loved paintings and everything art related. after graduation, though, ethan went back to his basic setting: wasting as much money as he could. moved to an apartment in this small town where he’s been living for two years already and honestly, he’s a little bored since he doesn’t have to work or anything. sometimes wonder if he should get a job but he’s too used to being unemployed.
as a hobby, he does boxing. i would say that’s the reason why he’s in shape, because he practices a lot. his muscles are thankful for the workout.

Style hunting
Free the Monsterind
In my constant struggle of finding a unique drawing style, I faced many creative blockages that were crucial to my overall development.
The whole experience was like a rollercoaster of emotions: encouraging myself to draw, choosing a subject, letting my mind free and start sketching, adding colours, trying not to be picky on brushes and experiment different types and different textures without following any patterns, having that boost of energy and enjoying the moment while listening to music, feeling the dopamine rush, being excited when I considered the drawing looked good enough and any other changes would decrease its quality, then opening my social media account, returning to the drawing application and see the monster staring at me (Janda, 2013).
A long-phrase that sums up my past two years.
Is the “monster” that follows many artists worldwide. But it is the same “monster” or we all have different ones? At this moment my mind would turn to 180 degrees and see the final form of my drawing as being “ugly” and immediately my reaction would be to close everything and do not show my creation to the online world.
I found myself wondering how the monster would look like and this was the image that popped into my mind the minute after, so I started sketching again. Not a ferocious beast, but a snob fluffy mauve creature being too spoiled to remain grateful for what he has.
Mind monster (Cimpoesu, 2020)
Starting to ask myself what is happening in my mind whenever I finish a drawing, was a promiscuous start. Why was I so concerned about what the others might think about my work? And why all of a sudden I would just have transposed myself into somebody else’s body and start judging my art, forgetting all the feelings I have had when I was creating it? Was my art supposed to carry any hidden meanings to anyone that might have seen it?
Art is subjective and does not represent pure tangible knowledge. Moreover, its purpose is to suggest and be interpreted by anyone who sees it (Scrivener, 2002). Thinking twice, every piece of art can include a small amount of knowledge due to the power of imagination and analysis its creation process.
Scrivener’s vision was that art in any form cannot embody pure knowledge either in-the-making process nor in the final-created object. This statement is half true from my perspective, for one reason: art, in any shape, can pass intangible information through generations, only because people can imagine and empathise through their bodies and souls, without experiencing the same times as the person who created it, but placing themselves in the other’s shoes, as humans made from the same material.
To be more clear, it is normal that paintings, for example, will not express anything at first sight; the viewer cannot gain any skills while staring at a canvas, but through analysing it he can feel at some point, all the overlapping layers full of acrylics and rough brush strokes that resemble shadows and highlights. In my opinion, it just depends on whom the viewer is: an artist will probably connect with the painting and imagine every step concluding the creation of it, while at a mental levet he could even transpose himself into the creator’s position.
As I started to see the presence of the “monster” more often, I started to draw more frequently just to try to catch momentum to analyse the feeling in depth. The answer was simple: my mind would categorize any of my creations as being low-qualitative in comparison with the others I have seen before from a variety of artists. Focusing on the flaws I automatically assumed that in the future there will be people in the same position as me (age, gender, being a self-taught artist) but with higher-quality final products.
The way art should be experienced is generally seen as being a short period of curiosity, sometimes it can progress on a long-term as well, until the reflection instinct approaches, as Danto et. al. (2013) suggest. Art should be a representation of the time and the environment it was created in. Another factor should be included in the equation, such as the experience the creator had and the time he spent on that specific piece of work.
The right of criticising
Formal analysis represents the theoretical structure of the human perspective and it aims to categorise every element found into a pattern such as proportion, variety and unity, along with the emotional baggage a drawing is trying to express. Combining the intellectual effect with the feelings that are created just by looking at a piece of art can be considered the key to a high-rated critical analysis. This approach can be replaced with a pure intuition of someone who had experience and had seen plenty of evidence to have the right to classify any work (Heydat and Sabzali, 2014).
This made me think if art is such a versatile subject, it should not be fitted into some patterns conceived by somebody’s opinions and perspectives. At the same time if art does not follow these rules then anything can be considered a masterpiece. What a massive paradox.
Coming back to my twisted mind experience, I was starting to think what makes any of my drawings better than the others and why over time only a few of them still remain beautiful and worth to talk about in despite of others. As an interesting fact, the drawings illustrating objects won all of my sympathy, in comparison to the portraits and the artworks containing any kind of faces, on which I currently have doubts about their worth.
Restlesnesss (Cimpoesu, 2019)
Breakfast in Poznan (Cimpoesu, 2019)
Traditional house (Cimpoesu, 2019)
The way I perceived humans dramatically changed during time. Self-criticism help me to analyse the weaknesses of my artworks and what is representative for my vision. In addition, one reason for not recognise my digital drawings as being qualitative was the presence of errors in the proportions of the faces, along with the lack of accuracy of the shadows and highlights placed on the subject making the whole picture to have a flat look at the first glance. Improvement can be recorded in this area just by studying the basic human anatomy features and the basic principles of drawing. At the same time, art movement such as Expressionism and Surrealism are focusing on particular styles of representing the human features in an unfamiliar way and they are recognised as meaningful and interesting points of view.
Modern French girl (Cimpoesu, 2020)
False posing (Cimpoesu, 2020)
Eye contact (Cimpoesu, 2019)
Examining the artworks now, after a long time, makes me notice the above photos look similar when exposing some aspects and are illustrating a constant style because of the used techniques, colours and tools. Despite of using a birds-eye view and underlying their similarities, the images are still exemplifying my creativity.
Personal brand identity
Many artists point out that their style was shaped after many attempts of different ways to approach a subject and browsing through working instruments, tools and perspectives and in the end there is no defined path to follow to reach the goal in a specific period. The final form of an artwork is influenced by numerous decisions and environmental aspects (Zhao, Cao and Lau, 2018) aiming to reach the receiver’s feelings, along with his admiration and interest.
The personality created trough all the final decisions and the presented outcomes represents a graphic designer’s way of expression, seeking to reach people who possess similar views. Although aesthetic taste is subjective and in constant change phases, a few elements are still keeping their place on the sensitivity map and help building a strong brand image when seeing an artwork for the first time.
Building your own creative style as a designer, leads to a constant communication with yourself and the others around. In the end, only by experimenting different scenarios a graphic designer can mould his preferences and fully express his thoughts through art, without having second thoughts about showing the final version. Due to art’s ideology and skills’s perfectionism timeframe, there is always going to be room for reconsideration leading to improvement.
Considering that for each artist there will always be people sharing the same vision as him, the action of finding the personal artistic style should be a metaphorical rollercoaster itself, which in the end will bring to light each stage and its significant meaning throughout the whole process. Understanding to embrace failure and to forgive myself when I don't have the desired outcomes, helped me more than it was expected.
Art, drawings and design taught me that you don't need perfection (Airey, 2012). It is fine to post something you do not like anymore and to appreciate that you did it. You have to embrace any state you have and be curious about any project you make because it is yours.
In conclusion, you have to learn to work with what you own and cherish your goal for your mind to be able to create anything that appears in your mind.

[Rebels] Heroes of Mandalore
I’ve stopped watching regularly SW: Rebels somewhere after first season, but I keep coming back for episodes about Mandalorian. The Heroes of Mandalore aren’t exception. Though most of times I wonder why the hell I still bother to do so.
To be fair, the newest episode(s) have interesting and beautiful moments, like:
new informations about mandalorian art (though I would like know more about Tojnun and the Pre-Exile Masters)
the reversed roles with Ursa (a female character; the wife & mother) is the leader & veteran warrior while her husband is the artist who, so far, did not show any combat capabilities (”My dad fights with his art”)
Bo-Katan is showed as capable warrior and leader and she is pretty good at what she is doing for past decade(s)
Sabine - and her past - once again is important part of the story
Fenn’s “show off” and in general, the evolution of his character
the ending scene of the first episode
Mandalorian for good now are visible diverse group insted of all-white TCW!version
A scene where three main female characters (all leaders & warriors in their own way) get together to discuss future of Mandalore. That alone is something pure and beautiful in so many ways, and I wouldn’t mind to get used to such scenes, really.
But though all of those points were great and fun, there is also a lot things that are, well, stupid. As in: pointless compared to the old canon/Legends. And yes, I’m biased, I know, but then again, new canon gives me time after time more reasons to be distrustful for its content. What means, I’m going to rant about Mandalorians.
The things tha pissed me off for good:
the whole Mandalorian without armor is no more than a common soldier bullshit. Seriously. You know what was great about Legends!Mando, beside how diverse they were? The armor was preciuos thing, sure, but it meant nothing, if person wearing it didn’t deserve the title of Mandalorian warrior. Just like that. Legends!Mando had saying about it: ``A warrior is more than one's armor.``
The armor is not what makes a Mandalorian. This is one of basic thing one must understands about their whole culture. Mandalorians were taught from early age to fight without it, without technology, without weapon to be strong and capable to survive if they were deprived of such things. There were even a time(s), when mandalorian ore wasn’t available to make new armours - or, like The Bounty Code mentioned: the armours were destroyed by New Mandalorian - so the warriors used other materials, like duresteel. And it was fine, no one really cared for such details. For Force’s sake, Boba Fett used durasteel armour, and even though he screwed up almost all rules of Mandalorian Code (what, btw, had only 6! conditions), he was still seen as Mando.
In short: you may deprive someone of armor, but it will not make someone less Mandalorian. Just no.
What makes the whole Sabine’s epic talk about her armour - how its part of their identity, how “it makes us, Mandalorians, who we are” is so... odd and impractical.
I’m ranting about this not only because of my bias toward New Canon, but seriously, Ezra’s question why not change armour for something different is actually smart and pragmatic thing to do - especially since the heroes planned to attack an Imperial forces who happened to have a weapon that will kill anyone with beskar’gam. This was desperate attack, to destroy weapon before imperials figure out how to increase its reach. It’s really laughable that Mandalorians didn’t change their armors for similar to those of stromtroopers what actually would minimize the threat of the superweapon in the first place, and thus, Sabine and Bo-Katan wouldn’t even be trapped later. Seriously, tactical increase of their own chances is not synonymous with change once for all their culture.
And frankly, it would be much better to see Saxon’s priceless face when he would learn that Sabine & her warriors actually adapted themselves to the new situation, that they put the survival and freedom of their nation above own pride to wear non-mandalorian armors for this mission.
What leads me to the second stupidity, the whole let a genius prodigy child to “fix” a weapon that was constructed to kill everyone Sabine loves. Like it was totally rational thing to do, sure, w h a t e v e r.
At this point, I once again lost faith in new canon. I mean, most - if not all - Legends!Mandalorians would just set weapon to self-destruct and died with knowledge that 1) weapon was destroyed and 2) enemy was killed with it. Sure, fine, Sabine is genius, she used it against Saxon - who shouldn’t be so fucking stupid in the first place. I can’t, I really can’t anymore, it was so obviously stupid thing to do, I can’t even find a proper words for that.
The third issue, much less important but still so irritating for me - the lack of mentioning Pre Vizsla, while at the same time constant talking about Satine, like she was some goddamn freedom fighter who lead Mandalore to its independence from Republic/Jedi/Empire. I’m sorry, but as much as I agree she wouldn’t like what Empire did to her people and the whole galaxy, I don’t believe she could do much about it. For the peace, she rejected oldfashioned ways of Mandalorian warriors, their culture & heritage and frankly, I don’t think her character did much in the TCW beside dying for Obi-Wan’s angsty sake.
I don’t really waited for lofty speeches in honor of Pre Vizsla, but it would be nice to see at least Bo-Katan mention him once or twice. Especially when Sabine presented her darksaber which Maul beheaded her friend / close ally (though I think her line “I am not the leader you seek” may refer to Pre, especially since she said that after seeing darksaber for the first time in a long time). Also, it would be nice to learn what happed to New Mandalorians, because I don’t think all of them became warriors or supported of Empire.
The most minor issue: calling Bo-Katan (or any mando female character) my lady? Why she couldn’t be refered as, I don’t know, a Mandalore, clan leader or something less gendered? Even if she was part of royal(?) family, such stuff aren’t important now. Sabine chose to trust Bo, not because she is sister of dead dutchess, but becase she is wise, strong and experienced leader that is already at war with Empire for more than a decade.

“The economy doesn’t exist. But you should pledge your life to protect it”.
Teaching a class on the concept of “economy”, I never expected my readings to suddenly become so relevant. Now that there are actual people pledging to sacrifice “their” (other people’s) lives on behalf of “the economy”, it might be useful to pause and reflect on this state of affairs from some readings from my syllabus:
The economy
First, what is “the economy”. Timothy Mitchell famously notes that “the economy” is a recently new invention. Whereas the concept of economy, indicating frugality and thrift in the usage of resources, has a longer history, the idea of the economy, indicating a specific object of knowledge and a separate sphere of human action,is a relic of the early 20th century. What is new and unique about this object is that the economy was a sphere of social action, scientific analysis and political regulation that was:
a) internally dynamic: the economy has parts that all relate to one another. When “demand rises”, “supply” magically shifts to adjust, as if by decree of economists.
b) inherently limited: both territorially, the “Turkish” economy etc. and conceptually; the economy as opposed to politics, or culture.
c) statistically measurable: this is the oddest one. The economy is both the most readily measurable and yet the most “material” aspect of our lives. Rhetorically, the economy is both supposed to represent the most real and tangible part of everyday life. Yet at the same time economics is the social science that is most open to statistical analysis.
Simply put, Mitchell had said that economics enframed the world. This is the reason why political phrases such as “it’s the economy, stupid” had any purchase on public imagination. You might think this is the language of economists and policy makers, but consider how the economy as a concept has made its way into everyday life. For example, even among those with radical leanings, it is possible to find people who still claim that “the left” ought to abandon ID politics and instead focus on “the economy”.
Farewell to “the economy”
So that is “the economy”. Yet what is at stake in the news reports of people demanding “the economy” be opened back up, is different from Mitchell’s account. What is at stake is not “the economy” as an object of knowledge. After all, it might be possible to say that “the economy”, as an object of knowledge doesn’t capture the popular imagination in the same way anymore. It has become common place, for even major news outlets to repeat over and over again, what we already now: that figures like GDP, GNP, unemployment, inflation in and of themselves are rather bad aggregates that don’t really capture how ordinary people are doing. Yet Randy Martin notes, the role of the economists as sensible experts who are completely in charge has long since disappeared. It is not that economic experts don’t exist mind you. It is just that their expertise doesn’t seem to cohere in the same way. Already in relation to the 2008 crisis, Martin wrote:
“When frames, boundaries, partitions no longer do their work, the array of relations and practices they had organized and classified do not simply cease to exist, but they cannot add up in the same way. The world looks to be moving differently. It is tough to say where. The new queasiness would look much like the old, and the experts would continue on their way acting as if they still ruled the world (but, perhaps, for their own admission to the contrary).”
Such a situation sounds even more relevant now. Who actually gives a shit about the GDP now? Who believes the economists on TV? Do they not sound even less credible than the TV doctors? Have we not had an entire election cycle worth of news coverage, where major presidential candidates like Sanders and Warren openly derided the idea that stock markets and the GDP were good indicators for capturing people’s ordinary well being? Does the economy cohere as an object of knowledge?
The Economy and Fatalism
Strangely, that the economy no longer coheres as an object of knowledge, is not contradictory with the idea that we should sacrifice our lives for it. After all, whatever the economy is, it is not as an “object of knowledge” that people pledge their lives to save it. On the contrary, in a weird way the more fragile the economy becomes as an object of knowledge and expertise, the more sacrifice it seems to demand to sustain its coherence.
Thus a presiding sentiment of "the economy” today, seems to be one of fatalism. Not only the feeling that markets are our only option (realism) but also, in a contradictory fashion, that we should actively risk our lives to ensure that they remain that way (fatalism).
This sense of fatalism is perhaps even more obvious now, at a time when economists are busy trying to create a cost-benefit analysis that map onto the coronavirus. How many deaths are acceptable if we open things back up in May, June, July, tomorrow? This pervading, fatalistic phase of neoliberal ideology was in fact a possibility that existed from the very beginning. No one is more indicative of this tendency, than the simultaneously celebrated and hated arch neoliberal, Freidrich Hayek.
“The Economy” as a Supercomputer
Hayek was no stranger to the growing popularity of systems theory in his time. Although his most famous 1945 essay “The Use of Knowledge in Society” makes no reference to systems theory, his later works, such as the Fatal Conceit, published in 1988 makes several references to systems theory and cybernetics. What is more Hayek was in personal correspondence with other systems theoreticians such as the now famous Stafford Beer. It is perhaps some cruel irony that whereas Stafford Beer briefly served as an advisor to Chile’s socialist leader Salvadore Allende, Hayek briefly met the brutal military general that ordered Allende’s execution, Pinochet.
And there is something incredibly fatalistic about Hayek’s work, that makes it relevant to understanding contemporary capitalism. This weird thing is the fact that for Hayek, the market is something like a computer. In fact it is a supercomputer, capable of a rationality that lies beyond that of any individual mind. This is not so much the efficient market hypothesis which states that the price of an asset reflects all available information about it. Rather for Hayek market rationality works, precisely because people remain ignorant of it. If the price of an asset falls, I need not inquire why it has fallen. Despite the title of his famous essay, what enables the efficiency of Hayek’s markets is not at all a rational or conscious process. It is not knowledge but rather ignorance that leads people to contest prices, to compete with one another.
To be a bit more precise, what is at stake for Hayek is a peculiar view of market rationality and efficiency. The rationality of markets, is not that of a conscious faculty of individual minds. As historian of science Philip Mirowski observes, Hayek flips Freud’s schema around, whereby it is rationality that is a subconscious driver of human action, behind a façade of intuition and intention. Mixing references to evolutionary psychology, complexity theory and cybernetics, Hayek makes the rather odd argument that we are driven by a subconscious rationality that we neither understand nor control.
This has significant consequences for how Hayek thinks about the market. In books like the 1988 Fatal Conciet, Hayek constantly derides the rationalist delusion that we can consciously organize social production by means other than the market. For Hayek it is the Soviets who want to transform rationality into a conscious faculty. The sense of knowledge, reason and organization secured through the markets, is instead spontaneous. The rationality of the market, as opposed to that of a soviet bureaucrat is collective, tacit, one might even say with some irony, “metastable” (a concept Hayek actually does use).
In short, for Hayek, markets possess a kind of strange rationality that manifests order out of spontaneity. The catch is, of course, this rationality can only emerge in market conditions. The kind of spontaneity that is required in other words, is that particularly controlled mode of spontaneity called “the market”. Taken to its extreme conclusion Hayek reveals the circular and sinister core of the neoliberal conviction that markets are the most efficient mode of organizing social production.
This has two important consequences for how neoliberals understand the world. First, to maintain market conditions, one must impart the values, institutions and dispositions that are generative of them, values and institutions such as individualism, the family, property rights and competition. Since market values are supposed to be internalized subconsciously, it turns out that tradition and religion are a much better way of transmitting them. Hayek writes, “We owe it partly to mystical and religious beliefs, and, I believe, particularly to the main monotheistic ones, that beneficial traditions have been preserved and transmitted”(Hayek “Fatal Conceit” 1988, 310). Even with all their superstitious elements, tradition and religion may be much more effective tools for preserving market rationality, than “the delusion” that the productive forces could be organized consciously.
Reading Hayek makes it pretty obvious how the cooption of these archaic institutions such as the family, the state and private property are crucial for the social reproduction of neoliberalism. The idea that neoliberalism only sought to destroy all tradition seems less convincing from this standpoint. Some mixture of deterritorialization/reterritorialization, co-option/transformation seems much more accurate. In deed, Melinda Cooper explains in her book Family Values, that neoliberalism was in fact a counter-revolution that tried to counteract feminist radicalism of the 1960s and 70s. Rather than merely oppose institutions such as the heteronormative family, Hayek, Friedman and Posner often reflected on how it could become a more efficient mechanism for maintaining social welfare, off-loading the cost of social reproduction onto marginalized bodies.
Second, if one takes Hayek’s conclusion seriously, markets not only organize knowledge and through this coordinate social production, they in fact give rise to a type of organization that would not be possible otherwise. It is not simply technically hard to organize production through means other than the market, it is in effect impossible.
This sentiment is even present today. Listen to the Vice Chair of the US Federal Bank, Randall Quarles, speaking at a 2019 event, commemorating Hayek’s achievements:
“Important parts of knowledge will not even be generated except through our interaction with each other through the mechanism of the market. Trying to centralize economic decision making, then, is not just too hard to do as a practical matter. It would actually reduce the amount of information available to us as a society, by replacing those myriad individual interactions in a free marketplace… The price mechanism then, is not just a matter of economics – it is a matter of social and indeed civilizational progress.”
Trying to coordinate social production by means other than the market, is not only hard, it is actively against civilization.
Mirowski describes this as the “Hayek trajectory” that defines the development of famous economists from Alfred Cowles to Joseph Stiglitz. The entire branch of informational economics, Mirowski explains, with its commitment to exposing informational assymmetries and showing how in practice markets aren’t efficient, nonetheless hold onto the idea of markets being wholly rational as a theoretical facade.
“On this axis (the Hayek trajectory) information goes from being merely difficult to retrieve, to being partly inaccessible, to becoming finally so transcendent that no one can really know it” (Mirowski & Nik-Khah 2018, 74).
Taken to its logical extreme, this line of thought raises the belief that markets are efficient into a religious conviction, since the efficiency of markets lies beyond what can be comprehended by our weak individual minds. There is “almost by definition no instrument available to test the proposition” that markets are efficient (Mirowski & Nik-Khah 2018, 71). The market is, in this model not unlike how we treat a blackboxed algorithm. Nevermind what the markets do, just trust that the output is efficiency. Thus one needs to trust that markets are doing their work while simultaneously staying vigilantly that one isn’t accidentally getting in their way.
And this combination is what makes market fatalism so dangerous – that markets are the only way we have of imagining collective existence (what Mark Fisher called capitalist realism) + we must be willing to pledge our lives to ensure that they remain that way, since what is at stake is civilization as such.
