I want to talk about these OCs so bad but explaining the character relationships (which is about 80% of the fun) takes up so much space but fuck me I love these characters. I keep looking at the original overclocking scene I wrote Years Ago and making this :') face at them. but also this >:) face because the scene is funny to me---
A: Well, what are you two doing here after hours with a blowtorch?
D: I. uh. We're. (D turns to F) Man, I can't do this. I'm folding.
F: Are you kidding me right now.
D: I'm so bad at lying. You know this. I can't bluff in cards, you think I can lie to the guy who pays us?
F: I can't fucking believe you. Why did I hire you. Christ.
D: Because I blunt force hacked my way into your computer and shut down all the superficial services on your block on a dare when I was in college and you thought it was funny.
F: You shut down the banks one time. A federal government website. You were an absolute menace. I can't BELIEVE your fatal flaw is a debilitating inability to tell a lie.
---when I think about how D's hacking style comes up later in the story
J: There's no one else here but you and me, so let's cut the bullshit. If I take you out, everyone else falls, right? (He leans over, hand on D's face)
D: Fuck you.
J: Cute. (He presses his thumb underneath D's left eye) They said you got this one in an accident, but this is a matching luxury prosthetic, like your hand. They don't use these in emergency situations.
J: Check mate, baby. (It's quick, but the panel beats stutter: this HURTS, and for D it's an eternity. J pulls out the eye, and then crushes the outer shell of it, revealing a small usb drive)
J: Some people have a delicate hand about this, but you like things to swing heavy and hard. I bet this shuts everything down, no exceptions. (He turns on the laptop) You were a DDoS type of guy back in the day, right? Wonder how that's going to work out for your friends.
#listen there's an inherent comedy to having a crush on your boss because he's physically part of your body#(high end luxury cybernetic arm with his filigree design on it)#and going 'ah yes. the catholicism of it all' only it turns out your boss (CEO) and your best friend who is also your boss#(head of your department) are friends and they keep inviting you out for drinks and oh no your boss (CEO) is really fun to talk to#but we dont have time to examine this because we have crimes to commit on the company dime!#anyway what D actually did with F is more like. he shut down 3 major entertainment platforms for an hour nationwide#AND tried to break into F's personal computer#he got pretty far! F rerouted him tho and then crashed D's entire system. they're best friends now.

i do think david is an interesting character, but he’s only interesting once you strip away the show’s good guy doctor david persona. I dont find engaging with him on the show’s level to be fun because i think it’s a carefully crafted lie. the idea that david and aaron are the perfect gay representation couple is not interesting to me. but examining david for who is really is, i do find to be interesting even if it looks like im just hating.
like. david hasn’t bonded with isla the way that aaron and nic have because (at least I think) he’s still pressed about having to share her with nic when he wanted his perfect picket fence life with aaron. that’s interesting! To have a character who has everything he ever wanted but not able to enjoy any of it is an interesting premise. David straight up admits that medicine wasn’t his passion, he just went into it because that’s what he thought he should do to make some imaginary father proud. that’s interesting, especially since he doesn’t seem to have any hobbies or close relationships other than aaron to fall back on. what are david’s interests? We...don’t really know. At least, I can’t think of any. Aaron has interests. He’s a gym rat. He like business, he likes management, he likes social media, he likes being a father. What does David like?
He has a twin brother and a father who adore him, but who he only likes as concepts. that’s also interesting! it’s an interesting way for someone to see the world and the people who inhabit it. he wants paul’s love and emotional support, but he never wants to give it in return. Paul would raze the earth for David as he would any of his kids but David will never return that energy. Leo literally supported David’s dreams and protected him his whole life but if he dares put a toe out of line with what david thinks he should do than he comes down on him like a sack of bricks. I think it’s fascinating how when Britney died, David assumed control of Leo and his life and his child but it was Nic who was actually able to connect with him and help him begin to process his grief through understanding rather than control. The only times he seeks paul out are when he wants something, usually emotional support in a situation he can’t seek it elsewhere.
He doesn’t respect Paul enough to even tell him he’s going to see Robert in prison. Doesn’t care enough to try and talk that out with his father because it would be a roadblock into achieving what HE wants. Certainly doesn’t think to call his sister, who Robert tried to murder. He doesn’t okay any of it with any of robert’s actual victims because their pain is a burden to his paper. and once he got robert’s kidney when has he gone to see him after the first time? never. heartfelt thanks then never sees him again. Imagine being Robert, imagine how that must feel. Imagine having someone fight so hard to come and see you and then promptly discarding you when you’re not useful anymore. Because that’s sure what it looks like! Not writing the paper anymore, no more visits to Robert. Got the kidney? No need to visit Robert. Robert is a bad person who did bad things, of course he is not entitled to David’s time but does that really jive with the narrative of David being a loving, kind person? Of course not. Robert was means to an end, but because it’s Robert, evil guy Robert, it’s not an issue.
and that’s not even getting into him saying practically outright he doesn’t consider Harlow a person after he gave her a seriously unprofessional diagnosis of something she clearly didn’t have. During the Hamish saga I believe it was Kraina (iirc -- I was a mere lurker at this time i remember because it stood out to me then and it still rings true now) tweeted that whatever happened to Tyler as a result of Hamish being invited into his life was David’s fault. She was so right about that. what happened to Tyler? Oh, his life was ruined, he went to jail for a crime he didn’t commit and nearly lost his girlfriend. Piper nearly died! But his choice to go behind everyone’s back and invite Hamish into their lives because he had a good experience with Paul is not factored into that story. It should absolutely be!
david is billed as a strong person, but he crumples as soon as any pressure is applied to him. he lashes out indiscriminately, at his husband and at his friends and his family. lately, he doesnt seem to have the emotional toolkit to deal with stress. which is another interesting character trait that we never see explored. he judges harshly when people do what he does which is hypocritical, but interesting.
Even his relationship with Aaron is more interesting when viewed through this lens because Aaron has slowly been losing his actual personality and been amalgamated into David’s. Like what’s the last ACTUAL aaron storyline you remember? A storyline about Aaron that’s not also about David. David’s is Riverbend. What’s Aarons? is that not interesting? watching two people become enmeshed while the dominant personality leads? I liked Aaron because he was a vapid douche but he’s lost the edges of his character to fit in more nicely with david who has only been gaining edges recently. I do believe that David loves Aaron. I think Aaron might be the only person he loves. If this was actually criticized by the narrative of neighbours, wouldn’t that be interesting? David building his white picket fence life through any means needed? I mean, he and Aaron practically tried to steal Elly’s baby. is that not something worth examining?
I know that it seems like im just being a hater but im not. I don’t like david. I find him to be unpleasant and i dont like the way he treated harlow - a vulnerable young woman in desperate need of help - especially. but I really do find him interesting. Really interesting but only if you look at him objectively without believing what the show tells you. who is David Tanaka when you strip him of his finely crafted veneer of being a good person? A manipulative, cold man trapped in a life he doesn’t enjoy, raising a baby with a woman he doesn’t like with parents he isn’t close to and a brother who wont conform to his narrow ideals. that’s interesting. I don’t like David because of the show’s presentation of him as a nice guy, but riverbend could almost have fixed this by lingering longer on David’s evil kidney moments. like letting Kyle (who hit him with a car) choke. Letting Garreth die for what he did to Aaron. those are moment where I think we see the real David shine through. I wish there was time for that to be fully realized. I wish the writers cared too.
#neighbourspost#this post is not anti david btw#ive made plenty of anti-david posts in my time but this is not one of them#this is a lament of wasted potential. i could possibly be convinced to like david if he was just unpleasant#because i like unpleasant characters. i liked harlow more when she was 'bad'#i love robert robinson who is possibly one of the worst and most unpleasant people to grace ramsey st#but david doesn't feel that way too me because of how distorted his actions are by the narrative#i hate being told what to feel about objectively bad choices by the story#i hate that he never gets held acocuntable the same way paul and leo perpetually are#but me not liking a character doesnt mean that they dont have merit or that other people cant enjoy them.#if you are a david enjoyer dont let me stop you lol#neighbours is about making it into what you enjoy#long post/

I think.....we should make an active effort to curb the disgust we feel for like. Not our justice system specifically which is unfair and unjust, but the concept of a justice system which allows every person no matter how despicable to have a trial and someone trained in oration and the law to defend them better than they could defend themselves. like theres disgust for the concept of lawyers who defend murderers, and some of them are unprincipled and only want the fame certainly, and for trials for people who are obviously guilty.
But "obviously guilty" isnt a legal threshold which separates people who are guilty from people who arent, there isnt a semantic line you can draw that will reveal the truth every time. it's like. A good thing that, on paper, everyone gets a fair trial where they can plead their case. The fact that not everyone does get that is reprehensible and a moral failing.
And i know "it's not that deep" but like. It is that deep, it comes from a real anger and disgust that i think is worth redirecting towards what i think people are actually angry about: the fact that marginalized people are unprotected and disbelieved by the authority that is supposed to protect them while the people who are allowed to hurt them are protected, that many poor people and especially poor people of color dont get a trial because their only real option is a plea deal and when they do it's more often than not unfair, that people who commit crimes heinous enough to become sensation attract well-trained powerful lawyers while the person whos accused of robbing a liquor store gets a public defender with a hundred other cases on their desk.
I think it's worthwhile to think of the world you want to live and the values that inform it in as something you are capable of creating. Theres a tendency among people who dont think about politics 24/7 either as sport or as a means of survival to think it's pointless for them to think deeply about politics and their own values because theyre not writing laws or they think it's beyond their understanding, but like. Thats very much a helplessness that is forced on the average person because it's useful for the wealthy ruling class. The person who has never touched theory and works at a grocery store and enjoys reality tv (or is a barista and gleans theory from twitter and enjoys fandom) is just as capable of being all of those things and thoroughly examining the world they live in and asking questions and demanding what they want to see out of it as the person who has been in academia for thirty years and certainly as capable as the person with a career in business who works in washington

Chess, technocratic Octopus (crimes against humanity in EU/USA/others)
Dear European Union and the Humanity as whole, this text also directed to members of the organization i call Octopus.
The core of this organization consists of members who are very intelligent, primarily researchers and doctors but also others, and they invented a plan in the form of a corona / covid and began to expand with such good intentions under the pretext of saving the Earth from ecological disaster. This action has certainly pleased a few people who are watching climate changes and have noticed that there has been a significant reduction in smog, but since it has been going on for more than a year and they also uses creation of artificial fear, it is time to show the truth and point humanity in the right direction. It's been a year since the Corona story was made, and instead of acknowledging the need to significantly reduce CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions and introduce normal rules, the organization is still working undercover, and I believe it's because of the crimes against the humanity that core of that organisations made.
I think that either the octopus has spread, or some kind of planetary movement of people has emerged that has different moral rules and values and they see that things have started to move, but in the wrong direction. I noticed a significant increase in interest in my person, whether through secret services (in the form of spyware and MITM attacks, my specialisation is IT and also IT security) but also through articles in the media indirectly referring to my person. It took me a while to decipher it all by deducing thinking and researching.
When my wife was sent with wrong healing fracture of feet to examination called by name gammametry of the skeleton, i was very interested about it and i started to study this examination technique the day before examination. Atomic weapons, isotopes, radioactivity and the like are things that fascinate me and i like to study about them. You can call me a researcher in multiple scientific fields. I feared about the increased amount of gamma radiation because i know how harmful it is. After studying available materials, i find out that a person gains a dose of gamma radiation of more than about a year of normal life, so we canceled it. And we did well, because the available materials have been deceptive.
In my head this type of examination remained to resonate and i returned to study it and found, that it is much more dangerous than it looks and when the so-called radiopharmaceuticals are injected in the bloodstream they use isotopes which in addition to gamma radiation, emit beta radiation in the form of electrons during decay and cause a very unpleasant way of dying. Person who undergoes the examination does not die immediately but his health gradually deteriorates and can die with a heart attack or get cancer or other health complications.
The examination itself takes a long time, about a half day until a pacient pee much of the the radiopharmaceutical and although he is no longer irradiating surroundings, the organs and cells, especially DNA are damaged to extend he cannot be saved. This medical specialization under names nuclear medicine, scintigraphy or gammagraphy is used for crime and must be immediately stopped, authorities need to immediately take action, seize the evidence and create commissions to investigate. It is also needed to stop facilities called cyclotrons or synchrotrons, i will get to them later.
As a major indirect evidence i present:
- Asolutely no existence of research on the non-harmless use of radiopharmaceuticals on animals or people in the long term, i have failed to find anything on the matter subject. I would like to remind you of the incident that took place in Chernobyl when radioactive material (isotopes), get into air. Although it was other elementary particles, it doesnt matter at all. When estimates of how many people died of cancer after the Chernobyl incident, it was estimated at 200,000 to 300,000. Those people inhaled radioactive particles that were in the air and entered their bloodstream through their lungs, similar to smokers' nicotine or other harmful substances from cars. Now imagine that you get it directly through an injection into the bloodstream.
- False information about physics of isotopes of elementary particles on Wikipedia and other sites, i suspect that they change the facts about isotopes of elementary particles and for example so-called Technitium-99m used with half life of 6 hours used in some examinations does not exist. Because there is not a lot of experts on the subject, other people accepts it as the truth. Also the so-called Internal conversion, which is a method of converting atomic nuclei without emitting beta radiation when they decay into lower elements. The organization changed the history of science and abuses the complexity of the topic as covering. I suppose that their claws are so long that you can also find false information the high school scripts as well.
If I am wrong at this one point and if the meta state of the isotopes also exists, some of these substances will still bind to the tissues and still remain in the body, causing heavy metal damage. It is necessary to use correct dosimeters to check what type of radiation is emitted by radiopharmaceuticals, gamma and beta and to distinguish the percentage, this can also confirm the type of isotopes contained in the radiopharmaceutical and there is need to use other techniques to identify the atoms themselves such as spectroscopy and the like.
- On the https://reddit.com/r/nuclearmedicine forum there is indirect evidence in the form of a complaint from one of the employees in America that complains about the congestion at work and the increase of people who come to test, the post on forum is month old. So yes, a few criminals alredy stared murdering more people.
- On the same forum it is debated why nuclear medicine and classical RTG and CT are separated as medicinal fields, RTG and CT use as x-ray/gamma external source and that is very very big difference. Also person asking for advice get recommendations to employ in a classic radio instead nuclear med. People who work in nuclear medicine prefer to send that person else for moral reasons.
Because nuclear medicine is operated almost everywhere in the world but primarily in western democracy countries, I dare suppose this organisation is at planetary scale and created story of Corona and also I dare suppose there are other iniquities that needs to be stopped.
I infer that the momentary management of this organization is technocracy, the only one could commit abuse of scientific research on such terrible things. And it also uses the technique of artificial creation of fear, it is obvious because it has such practices and equipment.
Solution proposals: For a moment i will play a role of the President of the Earth and I am giving you these recommendations.
Police investigators - INVESTIGATION: It is important to get the list of all patients examined with injected or drinked radiopharmaceuticals. It is need to be verified how long they lived after the examination or if they are still alive how much their health detoriorate. This also relates to other examinations where radiopharmaceuticals are injected into a blood circulation or drink, e.g. PET Scan, which can be done in other hospitals. PET itself is an abbreviation for POSITRON Emission Tomography, which is also cover name of use of hazardous beta radiation using isotopes injected directly into the bloodstream.
Involved will probably be some specialized doctors. It is necessary to identify them and interogatte them about this practice, if they know about it and identify if they used it and if yes, if they get the order from other octopus members or if they sent patients there on their behalf. Its important to distinguish if they used it because of fear of their families, or for money/fun or other reasons.
Ordinary people: I propose to all citizens to make peaceful civil disobedience and ignore the vaccination against Corona until the vaccines will be independently verified and molecular structures of they contents published. Be aware that these bad people can have plan to use some harmful substances in different batches of same vaccine. Authorities need to be aware of this. Also please dont go outside to make mess down the streets, it's the last thing we need. We need police officers, special units and army support to go after the bad guys. I urge that use of other existing vaccines, especially the vaccination of children need to be accepted and trusted. Antivaxx movement is wrong. Corona is really an exception. I also propose to ignore multinational pharmaceutical companies that use Corona to increase profits because for the vaccines they create, countries must pay, these are our money used from taxes. We'll take them down, believe.
Within the EU states: Police and special deployment units in the case of a nuclear dissaster (just pick up quality dosimeters): immediately send units into any cyclotron or synchrotron facilities. It is important to deploy enough people and you need to check all companies, clinics and warehouses around. Isotopes for "convicted" patients are produced in these facilities. It is necessary to use independent checking specialists who are on our side and I am not sure who can you trust. You also need to check where are radiopharmaceuticals from these facilities sent. Clinics can be located anywhere else in your country. Isotopes have short half life, so they are created non-stop and transported periodically. Cooperation at European level is required.
Governments of european countries and also others, it is clear to me that there are secret agreements around the existence of the cyclotron/synchrotron facilities to ensure the inviolability of these facilities, similar to embassies, do not try to cover up this problem. I ask you on behalf of humanity to immediately declassify these documents and other information with whom the agreements were signed and which lobby groups are behind it. If you refuse or hesitate for a long time, you will be judged in the future for helping crimes against humanity.
I also want to warn the authorities that the current vaccines that are already in your country may be harmless, but the Octopus plan can be that harmful substances will be added in other batches later. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce persistent monitoring of these vaccines by someone other than the pharmaceutical companies themselves. At the same time, I am asking for a complete identification of substances at the level of conventional medicines, like ibuprofen on wikipedia e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibuprofen Where you can see the molecular structure of ibuprofen as well as the various chemical identifiers used to identify chemicals.
I want to draw your attention to the fact that the octopus management is aware that it can't feed this PR for a long time and will have to revive the corona in some way to really start dying a lot of people, I believe they can do it with those vaccines, but so far i think they testing society how much it can handle and to get more money. Until I see the crowded cemeteries, I think we are still on the edge when we can intervene, action is needed immediately.
I would also like to point out a fact, that the source material used in cyclotron and synchrotron facilities must be at first prepared in special reactors. From internet sources it is for europe mainly research reactor Petten in Netherlands. Material is periodically sent from there to individual cyclo/synchrotron facilities in european countries. Then it is processed there to create individual isotopes and also prepared as radiopharmaceuticals. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petten_nuclear_reactor And dear EU government, EU council, and all you ladies and gentlemans in Brussel or other cities. The reactor is property of European Comission, be aware. And from wikipedia it is operated by Nuclear Research and Consultancy Group. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_Research_and_Consultancy_Group
Some surprised new members of Octopus: Stop being afraid and start writing and talking about it, threads need to be unraveled.
Media: You have my permission to disclose this text in the original version (without correcture). If you are connected to octopus, i propose you to ignore any other commands from octopus and you should stop writing anything about Corona as a protest and concentrate on this issue.
This organization lack moral values as justice, truth and honor. I live in the European Union and the United Nations for which I believe are these moral values important and I was trusting them, but now I was disappointed in Western democracy, it is important to return to these moral values.
When I find out the truth a few days ago I was in shock and I had very sad instead of cheerful Christmas. If humanity wants to handle the ecological crisis I propose a return of justice, more opennes, truth, humor and not artificial creation of fear of bad virus that does not even exist. Increasing the differences between the first percentages of the richest and the others is inadmissible.
The fact that CO2 emissions have been reduced thanks to Corona is praise, but these crimes against humanity must be punished.
I propose members of the organization, if it will remain, to change their internal political system to sophocracy, the technocracy is clearly unattuded. But I also refuse and I do not show interest in any way to join, work for you or make any decisions.
CORE OF OCTOPUS: Since it reminds me of the chess game, I already has been thinking about your next step. You will try to take over of messages in the media with some unfairness type like terrorist attack and creating another fear. I have a horrical ideas about reappearing abuse of atomic or biological research and detonation of atomic bomb in some EU state or elsewhere in the world that fits some terrorist organization. I ask you from dropping from such an intention. Give up voluntarily, it will be in your favor.
I ask other multinational corporations to confirm they are on our side and condemnation of these practices. The fact that withdrawals from the ATM are already limited to +-200 euros indicates to me the sad things dear financial corporations.
I propose that scientists and doctors who knew about the existence of nuclear medicine and about what it serves, but they were afraid of fear of talking about it, publicly stepped out, apologized and said they were sorry. As a society we need such people, so it is important that they should not be afraid to talk about such practices. Scientists and doctors who knew what nuclear medicine is used for and send people to such examinations need to be judged.
I also want to ask investigative journalists about proper documenting and investigative work. There are multiple types of nuc med examinations. For example, heart examination has the highest dose of radiation, I think that with this one patient dies on a heart attack within a few days or hours. For gammametry of skeleton i estimate a few months to death on leukemia or other type of death/cancer.
Thank you for your attention.
P.S. The actions that you as people will do in the coming months and years will evaluate not only your children or grandchildren. I dare to philosophize. Overgrowing and ecological problem on the planet afflict every developed civilization that missed the space colonization, it is important how we approach the problem. If there is any advenced civilisation outside, or if there are more of them and there is some community, know that our actions and form of society we build will be also evaluated by them. But do not beleive and do not hope that they will help us. Believe only in yourself.
And in case society refuses to correct these crimes, I refuse to help current society, be it research, some ideas or something else.

Falling Apart
(Inspired by @sugarglider9603 ‘s and @galaxy-lilies-main spiderverse au and an ask on it saying if virgil died what if roman became a villain. WARNINGS: Mentions of explosions, graphic things, murder, loss and mind control. )
Have you ever seen anyone fall apart? Roman has, and what a tragic, gruesome event it was. Roman remembers the day clearly. Spidergale and Royal Slinger were called to an emergency revolving around the subways. No one knew what it was, just that they had to get there quick. So here Roman was, swinging from building to building with the love of his life to save civilians once again and please their fan base. “Whoever rescues the most people or stops the situation first will get to choose where we go for date night. How about that Gale?” Roman proposed as he swung forward. Virgil chuckled and swung in time with Roman. God Roman could never get over that laugh. “You’re on Slinger. Prepare to eat at Petrov’s.” Virgil remarked with his signature sass. “But we always go there!” Roman whined. “I like Russian food okay? Don’t judge!” Before Roman could remark again, they heard people screaming. In an instant, both stuck to the side of a building to observe what they were up against. People were pouring out of the subway entrance. That’s when they heard someone scream “It’s a bomb!” Great. Roman fucking hated bombs. The two heroes rushed into the subway station. Following the path where people were running from, they easily found the subway stop that they needed to go to. “Fuck.” There was a whole subway filled with people, screaming and banging on the windows to escape. As they could see, the doors had a strange bomb stuck on it, sealing the poor passengers inside. “Alright Slinger we need to break the windows and start getting people out! Why don’t you start on that while I defuse this son of a bitch?” “Copy that Gale.” Roman hurried to a window farther away from the bomb. With a punch the glass shattered into a million pieces. “Never fear, Royal Slinger is here! And Gale.” “Fuck you.” Virgil grumbled, examining a wire. Roman smirked for a millisecond before addressing the passengers. “I need you to be as calm and orderly as you can while Spidergale stops that bad boy. No pushing, shoving or sudden movements okay?” Once he was sure everyone was on the same page he started helping them out. Once they were out he instructed them to run like hell, which they of course did. Roman was in the muddle of helping an elderly woman out when he heard Virgil make an ‘aha!’ noise. “The bomb’s defused but I don’t know for how long. There’s a possibility its remote controlled.” He said. “Meaning?” Roman asked just to make sure. “Meaning we should try to haul ass.” Roman put a business man onto the platform while Virgil began to help people out as well. Roman helped a pizza guy onto the platform as Virgil went to the last people, a woman and her baby. “C’mon Miss. I’ll help you guys out.” “Oh thank you Gale!” Roman was about to turn back to the platform when his Spidey sense started tingling. Uh oh, it was behind him. Roman seemed to turn around in slow motion. The child the woman was carrying started beeping. “FU-“ “VIRGIL!!!” Roman suddenly couldn’t hear. He didn’t need sound to understand what was going on. That child was a bomb in disguise. Even though Roman couldn’t hear, he could feel a blood curdling scream escape his throat. Days passed and Roman could still see the haunting image in his mind. They were burying Virgil today. Or, what they could find of him. Roman fucking laughed. They couldn’t find all the pieces of his dearest and yet they were fucking burying him today? That’s absurd! He couldn’t give his love a farewell kiss or a flower because Virgil wasn’t fucking together. Roman couldn’t hear Grandma Storm or Patton sobbing. He couldn’t hear the speech that Logan had made. He could see Logan physically struggle, but Roman didn’t care. His eyes were focused on the coffin. Virgil would probably complain that his coffin wasn’t “edgy” enough because it was white. He could hear his love’s voice. God this was awful. Roman blinked and suddenly the coffin wasn’t there, just a headstone. He felt a hand on his shoulder and somebody hugging him. He looked down to see Patton hugging him tightly. He turned to the side to see Logan, trying to keep his stoic persona, look at him with sorrow no human should ever have. Wait, was he crying? Fuck. Roman had been crying and he didn’t even know. He could hear Thomas say something but the words were muted by..his own sobs. Roman finally fell to his knees, carrying Pat with him and wailed. Have you seen anyone fallen apart? Logan has, and it was unexpected. Nothing was the same after the loss of Virgil. Grandma Storm quickly passed three months later because her body couldn’t handle the stress and grief. Victory dinners at restaurants felt dull when they’d be painfully reminded about the one empty chair. The headquarters just felt off. Logan would often wake up at night and hear Thomas crying. What was the worst thing of all was how Roman handled all of it. For the first year Roman was in between lethargic, depressed and angry. Some days he wouldn’t get out of bed. Others, he started taking on challenges way bigger than himself. The worst days was when he’d spend a whole day sobbing. His wails would echo through the headquarters. It was so haunting Patton would cover his ears and quietly cry, begging silently for it to stop. Logan would cover Patton’s ears with his hands or turn cartoon music all the way up until you couldn’t even hear your breath. The second year is when the switched flipped. Roman, instead of moving on with his grief in a healthier way as suggested by Picani and Logan, turned aggressive. He’d get into screaming matches, took on suicidal missions, and had even beaten a villain so hard he died in the hospital. Thomas organized an intervention and of course everyone was there. Patton was sobbing and begging for Roman to get some help. What happened next was terrifying, and Logan’s own fault. “Virgil wouldn’t want you to be like this Roman. He’d want you to sing and laugh and be ridiculous.” Logan expected Roman to give in at this, but that’s not what happened. Something flickered in Roman’s eyes. Suddenly Logan felt himself be slammed into a wall. He couldn’t breathe because Roman was strangling him. Roman screamed with a rage almost inhuman. “Don’t you dare fucking say that name! Don’t you fucking dare tell me what he’d want! You putas didn’t even help!” Logan suddenly gasped for air as he felt himself fall to the floor. Thomas, Emile and Remy were holding Roman back, shouting at him to calm down. Logan coughed as he felt Patton rush in and hug him tightly, sobbing at the top of his lungs. That’s when Roman broke free. Through Logan’s blurry vision he could see him quickly run off. Remy and Thomas went to chase him, but Emile rushed over to see if he needed help.
And that’s the last they saw of Roman or Royal Slinger. And that’s when Venganza de Rosas emerged. The first encounter with Venganza de Rosas would haunt Logan forever. A disturbance had been reported so naturally the Spider Gang rushed in to save the day. They were horribly wrong. What, or who they found was Spider Bite. He was impaled by multiple black and red metal roses and limp, blood in a pool below him. Logan rushed to check for a pulse. “Oh god, Oh god please! No more!” Patton sobbed. Logan felt bile rush up but forced it down. There was no pulse. Logan backed up to tell Patton the grim news but something caught his eye. Above Spider Bite was something written in blood.
Venganza de Rosas More and more crimes belonging to this “Venganza de Rosas” person sprung up. Bank robberies, heists, heck even murders besides Dolion’s erupted in their faces. What was the most frustrating is that every time the gang resolved a situation, five more popped up. They had no clue it was the beginning of a bloodier battle. It was realized when a figure attacked Thomas. They attacked the man while he was on patrol. The villain must have left Thomas to die with his spinal injury in an alley alone, but luckily Dream Weaver was patrolling over there that day. Thomas would live, but his spinal injury could take years to heal. He was bound to a wheel chair and hearing MJ sob was enough to make Logan storm out of the hospital room in a flurry of mixed emotions. Everything suddenly became a massive shit storm. Cotton Candy Spider went missing for three whole months before they found his body in the sewers. Dream Weaver, overcome with grief of both of his loved ones killed himself. It’s been five years since Virgil died, two years since Roman stormed out, three years after Dolion’s death, eight months since Emile was found and three months since Remy committed suicide. The Spider Gang was crippled. Logan never let Patton go on patrols anymore. Ever. Patton fought every chance he had but one sharp order made him give in. Patton helped Thomas and MJ anyway he could, but he wanted to go save people. Finally In the first time in years, they had a stroke of luck. Logan was ambushed by the figure. The person was probably male, was slightly above average height and had some muscle on them. They wore a black and red mask with bloody roses on it. What was most odd was the suit. They wore a red and black floral tuxedo, but instead of a tie they wore a scarf. Logan dodged an attack and quickly scanned the suit cause no way in hell would a villain just wear a freaking cloth tux by himself. Logan was shocked at the results. It was made from Vibranium. What was the most shocking was the advanced analysis of the DNA Logan had installed just for Venganza de Rosas. Roman. It was fucking Roman. “Roman?!” Venganza de Rosas laughed, heck cackled with malice. This was Roman, holy hell. “Took you long enough Specs. What, it took two murders, a spinal injury and an ambush? Very slow of you!” Roman snarked. “What the fuck Roman?!” Logan growled out. His hands shook and his insides were cold. All this sorrow and rage built up over the years was ready to erupt. “You killed our friends, your friends, for what?! Fun?! Revenge?! All because we all wanted you to get better?!” Logan spat. Roman scoffed and turned around. “You all were never my friends.” With that a loud cloud of smoke floated into the air. Even though Roman was a murderous mastermind he could still be idioti-. Patton hadn’t seen Logan in hours and grew worried. He repeatedly sent messages, checked Logan’s helmet cam, everything. Patton refused to cry. There was no way Logan could be in trouble! He was smart, quick and strong! He was safe right? Right? Suddenly the supercomputer dinged. Patton hurriedly pulled up Logan’s helmet cam. The camera showed nothing but black, but Patton heard a voice. A rough, gravely and wheezing voice. “Subway..platform…seven…help.” “Logan! Logan are you okay?!” Nothing. Patton wasted no time. No way in hell was he going to lose another family member. No way in hell was he going to lose Logan. He suited up and rushed out of the headquarters. Patton barely remembered the trip to subway platform seven. Unfortunately, he knew the way very well. Because that’s where the platform Virgil was blown up at. Patton hadn’t been there in a very long time but he knew it was abandoned due to the danger to the structures the explosion caused. And of course when Patton entered, it was empty. Or so he thought. Weird noises could be heard. Machinery and music floated through the air. Patton gulped and quietly crawled onto the ceiling towards the noise. Along the way he saw..odd objects. A familiar hoodie. Framed ballet shoes. An MCR T-shirt. Patton’s eyes widened as he remembered these items. They were Virgil’s, so why were they here? The music was growing louder and louder as Patton got closer to what he knew was a chamber. What he didn’t expect was to see so much odd technology. There was strange machines with wires and computers. Tables were covered in advanced, almost government level science equipment and strange things in vials. A vinyl player was on another, more empty table. The biggest thing in the center was covered with a large sheet. Patton quietly made it to the ground and out of curiosity walked to the machine in the center. He pulled the sheet and covered his mouth at the thing in the tank. “Patton?” Patton whipped his head around. A cry erupted from his lungs. “Logan! You’re oka-“
SLAM!
Patton cried out as Logan slammed him onto the ground. Patton looked up into his lover’s eyes and gasped in shock. They were blood red. Logan’s eyes weren’t blood red.
“It’s all okay now Patton. Roman is going to fix everything! Our bad luck will be gone and a new world will emerge! We’ll be a family again!” Logan deliriously said with a grin that was way too wide.
“Logan stop it! Stop!” Patton cried, pushing, punching and squirming under the weight of his love.
“Its going to hurt like hell at first but it’s worth it! I promise! Ill be here for you my love!”
“STOP!”
Patton had little time to notice the smoke creeping in through the vents. The smoke seemed to seep into his bones and mind, burning everything that told him to resist into a crisp.
Patton screamed in pain, as his eyes changed blood red. Logan’s kiss was the only thing to mute him.
Blurry eyes blinked. What.was going on? Memory seemed useless, for everything was blurry visions of glass. But now..legs worked. That had never happened before.
The glass door opened and shaky legs stepped into the world for the first time. The lights were bright, but a quick eye rub cleared everything up.
“Ah! It worked! How are you feeling?”
A man. There was..a man.
“…G-Good?”
A gasp could be heard. Voice! The throat had a voice! There was never voice! The man grinned and took hands into his own.
“Good, good! Do you know who you are?”
“N-No.”
The man smiled kindly and kissed the hands.Blood rushed to cheeks, making them warm.
“Your name is Virgil, and you’re my heart. My love. My beloved king.”
Virgil blinked. Love? The word seemed familiar, but he couldn’t place it.It was..nice.
“Come my love. Let us get you dressed and we can talk more. Im certain Patton has clothes laid out for you. Of course everything will make more sense when Logan inputs your memories.”
Virgil nodded, all tension gone. However he still had one question.
“Who are you?” he asked, voice raspy from lack of use.
“I’m Roman, my love. And we will rule this world together with an iron fist.”

“ Dave Chappelle said it best in his Netflix stand up. Michael Jackson never abused any kids, he just wanted to look cool to the kids at Neverland Ranch and wanted to stunt on them. “This is my cotton candy machine, it produces 2 tonnes of cotton candy a day, isn’t that awesome??”

I once interviewed someone for a magazine I was working for. The person was also a former journalist. I asked her something about her most memorable moment and she said she once interviewed Michael Jackson.
She asked what he would like to talk about and he broke down crying because no one ever asked him that.

Listening to MJs music, you could tell when the accusations and music industry BS started to catch up to him. After the Dangerous album, he started putting out songs like "They dont really care about us" and "This time around". Much darker songs than MJ ever put out in the past.

He was very close and affectionate with children because he didn't have the childhood he wanted. He was under a lot of pressure from his dad. He was obsessed with children, but in the nicest way possible. Bill Burr was right. Pedophilia is so common a topic of discussion in the USA that whenever we ever see an adult around a child that's not theirs, people's minds go straight to pedophilia.

Lies run sprints, but the truth runs marathons. — Michael Jackson.
TL;DR: The FBI conducted several investigations on or involving Michael Jackson from the early 1990's until his passing in 2009, with the last 10 years of his life receiving an ongoing investigation which turned up nothing that would suggest he was guilty of the crimes he was accused of.
More than 70 police officers searched his Neverland Ranch property, his other places of residence were searched, dozens of computers were seized and examined, and there was nothing to suggest he had a sexual interest in children. The only porn ever found which belonged to Michael Jackson was adult, heterosexual, porn. Nothing illegal was ever found in his home. A fake police report was released by gossip website Radar Online in 2016 which the Sheriff's Department stated was ‘falsified, with images that were never part of the original documents,' claiming those images 'appeared to have been taken from internet sources.' There were contents on the report which didn't even exist in 2005.
...
Corey Feldman also vouches for Michael Jackson’s innocence. ‘He is not that guy,’ Feldman maintains. ‘I know the difference between pedophiles and someone who is not a pedophile because I’ve been molested.’
Close friend Macauley Culkin also stands by Jackson. ‘Nothing happened. I don't think you understand,’ Culkin said, ‘Michael Jackson's bedroom is two stories.’
In1993, when allegations were first put against Michael Jackson, the father who accused him was recorded ON TAPE plotting against Jackson (listen to it here):
On July 2, 1993, in a private telephone conversation, Chandler was tape-recorded as saying,
There was no reason why he (Jackson) had to stop calling me ... I picked the nastiest son of a bitch I could find [Evan Chandler's lawyer, Barry Rothman], all he wants to do is get this out in the public as fast as he can, as big as he can and humiliate as many people as he can. He's nasty, he's mean, he's smart and he's hungry for publicity. Everything's going to a certain plan that isn't just mine. Once I make that phone call, this guy is going to destroy everybody in sight in any devious, nasty, cruel way that he can do it. I've given him full authority to do that. Jackson is an evil guy, he is worse than that and I have the evidence to prove it. If I go through with this, I win big-time. There's no way I lose. I will get everything I want and they will be destroyed forever ... Michael's career will be over.
In the same conversation, when asked how this would benefit his son, Chandler replied,
That's irrelevant to me ... It will be a massacre if I don't get what I want. It's going to be bigger than all us put together ... This man [Jackson] is going to be humiliated beyond belief ... He will not sell one more record.
This was said BEFORE Evan Chandler told others that his son had informed him about Michael Jackson. Also bear in mind, Chandler, a dentist, had his son SEDATED with Sodium Amytal, a drug which affects a person's memories and makes them susceptible to suggestion when he got the confession out.
After 2005, Jackson's defence attorney explains it best here where he outlines that the family which accused him of abusing 13 year old Gavin Arviso had targeted other celebrities asking for money, including Jay Leno and Chris Tucker. Defence attorney Thomas Mesereau would also describe the prosecution's tactics as essentially throwing everything at Jackson hoping something would stick.
Take the time. Do the research from verifiable and reputable sources of information. I have literally spent years researching Michael Jackson’s life, art, and allegations and I can honestly say that if you peel back the layers of his accusations you will see that his innocence has always been there.

So Michael Jackson gets investigated for super long but R. Kelly doesn't?
CookLove • Aug 25, 2018, 8:51 AM
Didn’t the father of the boy who accused Jackson in 1993, commit suicide a few months after Michael’s death? Guilt, maybe?
🤔
varnell_hill • Aug 25, 2018, 8:50 AM
Of course, because he didn’t fucking do anything. Was he a weirdo? Yea, absolutely, but that doesn’t make him a pedophile.

***Nisha Arora wants to serve the people of Lackawanna County and reform its judiciary. Arora is running for Lackawanna County Judge. Lackawanna County is where President Joe Biden was born and raised. If elected, she will shatter the county’s glass ceiling as the first Indian-American judge elected in the county’s history. It would also be the first time a nonwhite person was elected as judge. Arora’s parents immigrated from India to the United States in 1978. Nisha was born in 1980. From a young age, she was determined to live the American dream as a lawyer.*** “In my current job, I work with clients on their home purchases and sales. I have seen firsthand the change in our demographics and the expansion, not only generally in our population, but also in our minority and immigrant population,” Arora said. “Many of these clients choose me as their attorney because they are afraid of the treatment they would get from a nonminority attorney. This sad fact made me realize that perhaps we do need to work on some changes here in Lackawanna County in making an effort to commit to inclusivity. I made a commitment to bring more diversity to leadership, and part of that commitment was to run for this position,” Arora said. That prompted Arora to act when she saw the opening on the court. “Vacancies come up on this court infrequently. With a 10-year term and almost a 100% retention rate, you have to take the chance when there is an opening,” Arora said.*** https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/a-republican-could-make-history-as-the-first-non-white-judge-in-joe-bidens-home-county

***In a defiant YouTube video, Fortenberry and his wife Celeste said that he was unaware of the scheme and that he did not lie to investigators when he spoke to them in 2019. However, he also said something else interesting:
"I had a knock on my door on a weekend ... they were FBI agents from California. I let them in my house, I answered their questions ... We're shocked. We're stunned. I feel so personally betrayed. I thought we were trying to help."
This shouldn't need to be repeated so frequently, but even the DOJ press release on this case notes it: Everyone accused of a crime is innocent until proven guilty.
However, the more you talk to law enforcement, the more harm you are doing to your case. And this is especially true when you invite investigators into your home when they don't have a warrant and you do not have a lawyer present.
Whether you are a congressman or just a regular person, and the FBI, local police, or any other law enforcement officers show up at your door and "just want to ask a few questions," there is exactly one thing you should say: "I'd like to speak to my lawyer first."
To spell it out more, when law enforcement questions you, anything you say can and will be used against you later. Even if you think you are "just trying to help," the government may interpret a misstatement or a misremembering of facts as a lie.
Protect yourself and ask for a lawyer, who will either want to be present for questioning or advise you to not answer any questions.*** https://www.findlaw.com/legalblogs/legally-weird/dont-talk-to-the-feds-without-a-lawyer-ever/

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office reportedly opened a criminal investigation into Leon Black, a billionaire with connections to the late Jeffrey Epstein, over accusations that he raped and sexually assaulted two former models.

Maybe it's because your parents," Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert, were Weather Underground members, both convicted of murder," and you overtly share their political views.
The exodus of prosecutors from San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin’s office has continued as Boudin’s soft-on-crime policies continue to let repeat offenders out on the streets.
Two prosecutors, Brooke Jenkins and Don Du Bain, have recently quit working under Boudin and joined the recall effort against him. At least 51 lawyers have been fired or left since Boudin took over in January 2020, roughly one-third of the department’s previous strength.
Fatal and nonfatal gun violence has risen drastically this year in San Francisco, and burglaries are at the highest levels in recent history. Organized retail crime has led to Walgreens closing several locations. While Boudin claims the recall effort is little more than a political attack, more people in the city signed the recall petition (more than 83,000) than there are registered Republicans (33,788) or people who voted for Donald Trump in the 2020 election (56,417).*** https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/prosecutors-continue-to-leave-chesa-boudins-office-as-recall-looms

"the scary pervasiveness of online pedophilic behavior is hammered home via the revelation that two of the perverts Powell comes into contact with are actually public-school employees."
Filling the vacuum left by NBC’s popular To Catch a Predator (which last aired in 2007), Undercover Underage charts the efforts of intrepid activists to identify and gather evidence on child predators so that local law enforcement can bring them to justice. A six-part docuseries premiering on Discovery+ on Nov. 2, it’s far from a graceful non-fiction exposé. What it lacks in understatement, however, it makes up for with fascinating details about the way such monsters operate, and the canny techniques used to coax them out of the online shadows and into the light.
Safe from Online Sex Abuse (SOSA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to prevention and awareness about online child sex abuse and exploitation, and Undercover Underage follows its members as they attempt to stop would-be predators from carrying out their repugnant intentions. SOSA was founded by Roo Powell, a 38-year-old mother of three who spearheads the outfit’s activities by posing as 15-year-old girls in teen chat rooms in order to attract the attention of adult creeps. Powell assumes manufactured personas for this plan, wearing a wig, communicating from a staged bedroom, and using a variety of lighting and image touch-up tricks to sell her ruse. It’s a well-thought-out charade, and posing as “Flori”—an emotionally fragile high school student from Stamford, Connecticut, who lives with her single mother, a nurse—it pays immediate dividends, eliciting tons of messages that range from the disgusting to the disgraceful to the outright abominable.*** https://www.thedailybeast.com/she-poses-as-teen-girls-to-catch-pedophiles-online

Tiana Lowe writes
***As to why the gun contained live rounds, crew members had evidently used them for "plinking," or playing target practice with beer cans, during breaks. That's dangerous and unprofessional enough on an action movie set, but even worse is why Baldwin didn't know that the gun had live rounds. Apparently nobody — not the armorer, not the assistant director who selected the gun, not the actor responsible for firing it — thought to check before aiming it directly at two human beings.
The entire production seemed to fail at following the most basic rules of firearm safety. From the staffing down to the negligence of the armorer and the assistant director, the Rust set was bound for disaster. There were several points of failure, but one single action, fundamental to firearm safety, could have prevented this: Baldwin just had to behave as though the gun were fully loaded until he had checked for himself. Had he only done that, Hutchins would still be alive today.*** https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/the-alec-baldwin-shooting-was-no-accident

The leader of a money laundering network was sentenced today to 15 years in prison for laundering tens of millions of dollars in drug proceeds on behalf of foreign drug trafficking organizations.
According to court documents, Xizhi Li, 48, a U.S. citizen who previously resided in Mexico, led a years-long scheme to launder money on behalf of transnational drug trafficking organizations. To carry out the scheme, Li and his conspirators used a foreign casino; foreign and domestic front companies; foreign and domestic bank accounts (some of which were opened under fictitious identities; encrypted communications platforms; and false identification documents. Li often dealt directly with members of drug trafficking organizations or their representatives to obtain “contracts” to move their drug proceeds. Once Li and his co-conspirators obtained a “contract” to launder drug proceeds, they would engage in financial transactions that were designed to conceal the illicit source of the original proceeds in return for the payment of commissions.
On Aug. 2, Li pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to commit money laundering. A federal jury convicted a Virginia man [Wed[ for producing, receiving, and possessing child pornography.
According to court records and evidence presented at trial, Zackary Ellis Sanders, 26, of McLean, engaged in sexual conversations over multiple mobile messaging platforms with at least six different minors. In these conversations, he directed five minors to engage in sexually explicit and self-harming conduct, record themselves doing so, and send the resulting videos to him. He also received videos of a sixth minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Additional forensic evidence recovered from multiple laptops and thumb drives found in Sanders’s bedroom established that he possessed different images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of other children, including videos depicting the sexual abuse of a toddler, and prepubescent children being sexually abused and subjected to sadistic acts. Sanders obtained these images from a Darkweb website, the sole purpose of which was to share and facilitate the viewing of such material.
Sanders was convicted of production, receipt, and possession of child pornography. He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 4, 2022 and faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years in prison.***https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/virginia-man-convicted-sexual-exploitation-minors

Only 9 years? What the Flock?
A U.S. citizen residing outside the United States was sentenced today to 108 months in prison for attempting to molest an 11-year-old boy in Vietnam.
Joseph Ricky Park, 67, aka Joseph Demasi, pleaded guilty on Feb. 24 to attempting to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a child. According to court documents, around January 2015, while living in Vietnam, Park invited three Vietnamese boys to his apartment under the guise of offering English language instruction. At his apartment, while the boys played video games, Park placed his hand on a victim’s genitals and then proceeded to “pinch” and stroke the victim’s genitals through the victim’s clothing. Park then placed his hand inside the victim’s pants and attempted to continue stroking the victim’s genitals, but the victim pushed Park’s hand away.
Park was prosecuted in this case following a 2013 amendment to a federal criminal statute that prohibits U.S. citizens residing abroad from committing sex offenses against minors. Park, who resided outside the United States without returning from March 2003 until his arrest in this case in January 2016, challenged the constitutionality of this provision. In September 2019, in the first appellate opinion to consider the issue, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld the application of this statute to the facts of this case.
According to court documents, Park has multiple prior convictions for offenses against minors. In 1987, he was convicted in Connecticut of two counts of injury or risk of injury to children, and one count of sexual assault in the second degree, for which he received concurrent sentences of ten years’ imprisonment, and served five years in prison, then was released, violated probation, and was re-imprisoned. In 2003, he was convicted of attempted corruption of a minor in Cuba and served more than two years in prison. According to court documents, the defendant repeatedly acknowledged having a sexual attraction to boys nearing or going through puberty.*** https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/repeat-child-sex-offender-sentenced-108-months-prison-attempted-sex-abuse-vietnam

Christian Stevenson, 52, of Vernon was arrested and taken into custody on charges of importing child pornography; second-degree illegal possession of child pornography; eight counts of voyeurism and four counts of voyeurism with a child under 16, they said. He also was charged with four counts of risk of injury to a minor and nine counts of disorderly conduct.***
According to three arrest warrant affidavits, police were alerted in the summer by the state police that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children had received a tip about exploitive content being transmitted in emails from a person in Connecticut. Police reviewed 48 images of young girls who were going through, or about to go through, puberty and were either nude or partially nude. Some pictures showed girls in suggestive poses, while others showed a girl being made to perform a sexual act. Nine images qualified as child pornography under Connecticut state statutes.
Investigators linked the images to Stevenson, who they learned was a longtime teacher at Rockville High School. He also coached varsity golf, the warrants said.***
investigators also came across many inappropriate pictures that were taken more recently, including pictures of young children in stores, at resort swimming pools, on city streets — and hundreds of pictures that appeared to be of students inside the high school, and some at school sporting events, the warrants said.
“The focus of the photographs were the buttocks, chest, or vaginal areas of young female students,” it said. “None of the students appeared to have any idea they were being photographed.”
After meeting with school officials, police were able to recognize two of the students who were the subject of inappropriate pictures, some taken in Stevenson’s classroom, they said.
Stevenson used his cellphone to take some photos up a student’s skirt, while focusing on her buttocks in others, one warrant said. The student, who was 15 at the time, had no idea the pictures were being taken.
When police interviewed the girl, she became “extremely distraught,” it said. She said she was devastated because she respected Stevenson so much.
Another warrant said Stevenson also took pictures of the buttocks of a teen wearing shorts. The girl, who was 17 at the time the pictures were taken, said she “still owned the shorts she was wearing in the photographs and now felt the need to burn them.” https://www.courant.com/breaking-news/hc-br-vernon-rockville-high-school-teacher-arrested-child-porn-students-20211018-enilwp42jvblxamy5aja5odq2y-story.html

Tigers don't change their stripes
A Hartford gang member who opened fire on and narrowly missed a young Hartford police officer early Tuesday morning has been charged with attempted murder and is expected to also be charged with the murder of a 53-year-old Hartford woman fatally shot a few hours earlier.
Jose Cajigas, 31, was apprehended trying to run from the parking lot where he shot into the officer’s marked police cruiser after she was able to pull away to safety while still radioing his location to the other responding officers, police officials said Tuesday afternoon, hailing the officer as a hero.
The officer, who was not identified publicly Tuesday, sustained only cuts from the shattered glass of her cruiser’s driver’s side window after the bullet missed her. She returned to police headquarters after seeing doctors at a nearby hospital to help detectives with the documentation for Cajiga’s charges, police Chief Jason Thody said Tuesday afternoon.
Cajigas was charged with attempted murder, criminal possession of a firearm and unlawful discharge for shooting at the officer and then already was a person of interest in the murder of Catherine Hays, 53, who was found dead inside a Spring Street apartment Monday afternoon.*** https://www.courant.com/breaking-news/hc-br-hartford-police-shooting-murder-suspect-arrest-20211026-lwj4eqnbjrbp5b7o34sgrnntuq-story.html

$31M in coupons?
The first time the Coupon Information Corporation (CIC) called Postal Inspector Jason Thomasson with a tip about a Virginia Beach resident who they believed was making and mailing counterfeit coupons, the center didn’t yet have a sense of the fraud’s scale. Without a loss amount, Thomasson didn’t think he could gather support for an investigation.
A few months later, the CIC, an association of manufacturers that tracks coupon fraud, called back to say they had linked over $125,000 in fakes to the suspected counterfeiter. At that point, Thomasson started asking around the FBI’s Norfolk Office, where he works as a task force officer, for a partner on the investigation. Special Agent Shannon Brill was intrigued. “It was a different type of case,” she said. The pair went to work.
And last month, that counterfeit coupon maker was sentenced to more than 12 years in prison and ordered to pay $31.8 million in restitution to the retailers and manufacturers who suffered losses in her scheme. Brill and Thomasson said that loss number is likely a conservative estimate of what Lori Ann Talens, 41, and her group of criminal couponers were able to steal.***
“She trained herself in the different techniques she needed to manipulate barcodes to make these coupons work,” said Brill. Talens had a background in marketing and strong computer design skills. Brill and Thomasson said she was able to create a coupon for almost any grocery or drug store product and to make it for whatever value off she wanted. Often the discount was near or even over the retail value of the item.
“She had coupons for $24.99 off a $25 box of diapers. And it would work,” said Thomasson. “And you’d have people walking out the door with those diapers for almost nothing.”***
Talens not only regularly used her own coupons, but she sold them to a large group of subscribers who found her through social media groups. Using an encrypted app to communicate with her customers, she only allowed in new members if they were referred by an existing member of the group. Each new buyer had to send a copy of their ID and provide evidence that they had used counterfeit coupons before—a way of making sure her buyers accepted some amount of risk in the scheme. Talens accepted payment through popular payment applications or by virtual currency and sometimes exchanged coupons for stolen rolls of the special paper stores use to print out coupons.
Over three years, Talens was paid about $400,000 by her subscribers; the agents credit a diligent FBI forensic accountant for painstakingly tracing thousands of transactions through payment apps and virtual currency wallets.***

Was that an NSBA letter or a White House letter?
Members of Congress sent a letter to the NSBA about aiming the FBI at parents who attend school board meetings.
*** On October 21, 2021, Attorney General Garland testified before our Committee. During his testimony, Attorney General Garland acknowledged that he relied upon the NSBA letter as the basis for issuing his memorandum.9 In addition, a news report published the same day revealed that the NSBA communicated with the White House about the September 29 letter prior to its transmission.10 In one email dated September 29—the same date as the NSBA letter—the NSBA Interim Executive Director & CEO, Chip Slaven, wrote:
[I]n talks over the last several weeks with White House staff, they requested additional information on some of the specific threats, so the letter also details many of the incidents that have been occurring.11
Similarly, on October 2, the NSBA’s President, Dr. Viola Garcia, separately wrote that the NSBA had “been engaged with the White House and Department of Education . . . for several weeks now.”12 On October 13, less than a month after the NSBA letter to President Biden, the Biden Administration announced that it had appointed Dr. Garcia to be one of five members of a federal education advisory board.13
The Biden Administration seemingly relied upon the NSBA letter—which it coordinated in advance with the NSBA—as justification to unleash the full weight of the federal law enforcement apparatus upon America’s parents. ***

REGISTER REJECTED: Anger As UK Ministers Reject Domestic Serial Abuser & Stalkers Register
REGISTER REJECTED: Anger As UK Ministers Reject Domestic Serial Abuser & Stalkers Register The Government's decision to vote against putting serial domestic abuse and stalking perpetrators on a national register has sparked national outrage. On Thursday MPs voted down an amendment to the Domestic Abuse Bill which would have placed serial domestic abusers and stalkers on the existing violent and sexual offenders register. An amendment to the landmark legislation to create a register of serial perpetrators passed by a landside in the House of Lords in March in the wake of the mounting anger over the killing of Sarah Everard. The Home Secretary, Priti Patel, has suggested that the Government would relook at creating a national serial perpetrators register earlier in the day before the vote passed, but the Government has now backtracked on this. One person who has been angered by the decision is Charlotte Kneer, Chief Executive of Reigate and Banstead Women's Aid refuge in Surrey, told The Independent: 'There is currently no monitoring of serial perpetrators, this is a common sense amendment to the Domestic Abuse Bill tat could save lives.' 'It's devastating that with a landside in the Lords, it was voted against. I really don't understand why they are voting against it. If the Government is saying they are prioritising violence against women and girls, today's vote shows their words don't ring true.' Ms Kneer is a domestic abuse survivor herself, whose partner was jailed in 2011 for seven years, noted that the amendment is highly personal for her. 'Because my ex-husband is a serial perpetrator and has been convicted of offences against three different women, including myself,' she added: 'This amendment would have stopped him from abusing multiple women. Men like him could be stopped with this amendment.' Its estimated that two women a week are killed in England and Wales either by a current or an ex-partner, while official figures show one in five women will be stalked in their lifetime. Labour's Yvette Cooper previously proposed an amendment to the Domestic Abuse Bill calling for a new category of offender, to include perpetrators of domestic abuse and stalking who are 'high risk' or who repeatedly abuse victims, and earlier this week she said there were insufficient measures that are taken to stop a serial perpetrator 'going on to hurt women again,' and ultimately ;moving n from one victim to the next.' The Labour MP, who also Chairs the Home Affairs Select Committee, said: 'Not enacting the perpetrator's register is a gaping hole, because in too many cases when something really awful happens and you see a terrible case of violence against a woman or murder of a woman, there is a pattern and nobody has stepped in.' A former top Metropolitan Police Violent Crime Analyst, Laura Richards, who helped Ms Cooper draw up the amendment has said that the Government's decision to vote against a serial perpetrators register shows 'they have no interest in prioritising women's safety' and are failing to listen to women. Ms Richards, who helped develop the domestic homicide review process in the early 2000s and is a former adviser to the National Police Chiefs Council, said that the amendment outlines: 'A clear road map to ensure cultural change where perpetrators are made visible and accountable for their abuse to women for the first time,' adding that 'they have misjudged the climate,' and that women are angry and have had enough at being treated like they dont matter. We want action.' Ms Richards has said previously that her work at Scotland Yard has shaped her understanding about the 'evolving and escalating abuse' of serial domestic violence offenders, stalkers and serial killers. Lucy Hadley, of leading domestic abuse charity Women's Aid said they are deeply dissappo9inted MPs rejected the Lords' amendments to give migrant women who have suffered domestic abuse and equal protection. She added: 'In doing so, the Government has consigned migrant women to an intolerable position. Just 4$ of refuge vacancies in England in 2019-2020 could accept a woman with no recourse to public funds due to her immigration status, and this means that migrant women and their children are turned away daily from support that they need. All survivors must have the right to seek help and live a life free from abuse - regardless of their immigration status.' Ms Hadley also noted they were 'severely concerned' other Lords' amendments such as making all family court judges undergo training on domestic abuse and sexual violence was voted down by MPs. 'Whilst this law has been deemed a once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect all survivors, there remains much more to do to ensure the Government delivers the societal changes that all survivors need to live free from fear, and free from abuse,' she said. Her comments come after new laws were added to the landmark Domestic Abuse Bill earlier this year which means non-fatal strangulation will be made a specific offence and threats to share revenge porn are criminalised, and the legislation means perpetrators will no longer be able to directly cross-examine victims in family courts. A Government spokesperson previously denied there was any 'U-turn' and said they had never fully committed to a separate register, adding a new category to the existing Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements would add 'complexity to those arrangements without any pain.' Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangement (MAPPA) - which consists of the National Probation Service, the Prison Service, and Police Forces - the dangerous sexual and violent offenders in England and Wales. The Spokesperson added: 'The Lords Amendment is not calling for a register, but instead changes to MAPPA... The Government agrees that high-harm domestic abuse perpetrators definitely need to be monitored and supervised, which is why serial and high harm domestic abuse offenders are eligible for management under MAPPA.' Subject: Oregon Intervention From: Ty S - Oregonian Date: 24 Nov 2020 To: the new Biden Administration Attention - the honorable Cedric Richmond Senior Advisor to the President Greetings elected officials, diplomats, and honorable people, Last time I wrote my elected officials it was under a circumstance of distress. I'm pleased to say that my experience with that situation was resolved with the help and assistance of some good people in public service. I dont write these letters often because Im often not feeling up to putting the kind of energy it requires to express the situation in terms that are solution oriented. But I seek solution oriented strategies often to remedy strife and stress that people in my community live with. It appears to be a time once again to update on the latest issue that we need serious intervention. My name is Ty S I live in Portland Oregon with my wife and son. The experiences as a high school student was quintessential to a Black man growing up in Oregon but my story is unorthodox. My trajectory in education was similar to phil knight of nike as I share two of the four schools he attended: Cleveland High and U of O. So Im as Oregon as the swoosh, Powells, and the Rudolph sign. Politics is my life mostly having been involved in the Oregon students of color coalition and OSA in 2004 and Urban League in 2009 before going on to serve in the Oregon Health Authorities Transformation Center and the Oregon Advocacy Commissions. I'm particularly proud of my community organizing in the between 2004-2016 which includes electing Obama, helping Black Activist run for office, and building a grassroots community health worker project called We Are Health Movement. Once Trump came to power things changed dramatically for the worse in Oregon. Nearly all of my activism ended as a powerful racist insurgency became more visibly violent and threatening to the Black community. Events of Portland Oregon 2020 require intense analysis. Im not a total alarmist about our situation like our media has gaslit and painted Oregon as a place on fire with leftist anarchists extremists. Please recognize that intervention can only be settled diplomatically at this point. We have lived and walked and witnessed a very violent escalation since 2016. Look at the evidence of tracking hate crimes in our state https://www.splcenter.org/hate-map?year=2016&state=OR . We should not be on this list. We have such a small populations of minorities including Black, Hispanic, Asian and Native populations and the many immigrant cultures are very small in overall numbers. The story behind these hate crimes is a way more then just isolated incidents there is a large scale and spreading networks of organizations that only purpose is to antagonize, disrupts, hate, punish and resort to violent intimidation and terrorism. Hate groups in Oregon have dramatically grown in the last four years and as a political, social, and defensive response people have responded in a counter activity to keep those movements from growing further and pledge to end their reign of terror. It started in mid 2016 when Jeremy Christian a pre-radicalized activist with the Proud Boys murdered in 2 people on the Max Transit system (which is like our rail car). Jeremy Christian is part a new movement of internet organizers that have particularly recruited young white men to organizations like the oath keepers, 3 percenters, and inspired by the Bundy occupation movement of 2016. They are living in the shadows of Waco movement. Out west they love that shit and 2016 opened the door for growth of these right wing extremism. Oregon responded initially in Portland by counter protesting against the groups that would gather in various parts of the city including on the Federal freeway 213, Downtowns Terry Shrunk Plaza, and Tom Macall Park. Each of the events in the summer of 2016 organized by violent right wing extremists involved heavy confrontation from counter protesters. This included verbal, physical, and organized violence. This was warfare in a small scale. But many things escalated. This history must include a contextualization of the types of organizations that began to sprout and grow on the opposition which I will categorize as the organized left until I describe it more fully. In Portland initially the ecumenical faith community, the non-profit activists, labor, and a variety of socialist organizations. Some of this coalition of organizations had previously collaborated against neoNazis in the 80s as resistance to hate before. The events of Jeremy Christian galvanized a large scale opposition that sought to resist racialized terrorism of that kind in our community. As events and confrontations continued to persist summer after summer after summer we are now where we are today. As the events continued the city of Portland often utilized the Portland Police Bureau as a referee of sorts to prevent wide scale violence. But there were many instances where people of Portland felt that Portland Police were more favorably protecting the right wing groups more and more the activists involved from the left lost favor with the city government, Police leadership and elected such as Ted Wheeler. The impasse really escalated between the city representatives and diplomats in political actions, contract negotiations for the police union contracted are included as a source of the strain and political tensions escalating. The summer of 2020 was by far the most chaotic situation because the global movement for justice for George Floyd and Briana Taylor tied with Oregons #BLM picked up a new confrontation with the Police and state officers in downtown Portland. Oregon activists like many other states have been fighting for justice for many unarmed black men and women and those with mental illness shot and killed by the Portland, Vancouver, and Gresham police. Local movements converged it was a mashing of black activism in a new generation of young and emerging people for Black Lives with the Oregon defenders and anti fascists who had basically been in battle with right wing extremists continuously for 4 years. The combination produced energy seen no where else in the country. The City saw had over 130 days of continuous protest in a call for anti racism, justice for police murders, and anti capitalism oppression. Now I do not need to detail all of these events and how they were organized and what happened between the night to night. I do know that a lot has happened and most documenting and historicizing these events can tell that story. My purpose today is explain that there is a diplomatic intervention needed. We are desperate in this city for a focus of attention that doesn't involve us looking down the dark hole of a barrel. There needs to be a peace tribunal set up in our city (similar to south africa). The need is so great out here. No convening, No conversations, Nothing seems to be working. Please help us out here and we don't need photo ops, only real commitment and work can solve anything we got out here. The pain is deep and the grievances are so numerous that our community might not heal for a generation. We need peace in this city. We need peace. Peace between police and protesters and between the right wingers. There are some clear changes needed. Here are my suggestions that will give people a part of power. Total and complete overhaul of the law enforcement in this country in the first step we must examine. The Portland Police contract needs a total revamp. All of there leadership needs to be changed. There is a certain segment of Portland that wont setter for less. The many proposals by thousands of activist in portland none of which has happened in the more then 4 years of advocacy: https://www.portlandmercury.com/blogtown/2020/06/09/28519183/all-of-the-... We need to accelerate these changes locally and nation wide. We are not an outlier here it is part and parcel of similar movements that started in Furgeson. Even if you or your office got involved and moved the needle on any of these issues Portland still will need to grapple with its right wing violent extremism problem, because it is growing out of control with reports of continuous recruitment in the suburbarbs and nationwide show this. Oregon is the theater of a national program targeting this state as battle ground for the clash of extreme ideologies. What should we do about that? Well my feel is that its not important to most law enforcement or it really feels like it. The law cant really keep up with the type of warfare that is just as much virtual as it is physically in the streets. It will have to be part of a robust strategic initiative on a large scale organized nationally coordinated and well resourced. No longer can cities afford to build volunteer resistances to hate groups. There needs to be a common societal agreement on this in a new contract of acceptance of what is right and wrong in our communities. It is appropriate but it will also need alternative opportunities to get people out of those groups. Violence is not ended here and we expect next year will be worse then this one and we live in fear for our lives. Black people in particular fear that violence is eminent in any outing, they must use precautions to protect themselves in this kind of violent political and social environment because your skin tone and or your social status is often the determinant factor. Hate crimes need national attention to end. We need a nation wide movement to end racism. Many of the right wing extremists are entrenched in their ideology and need an counter narrative that is stronger to inject alternative perspectives. But it might be too late for that here in Oregon we are at the point where violence and counter violence are yearly occurrences and it becomes a matter of desperation to even reach out to the federal government for help and support. Oregon is my home that I spent most this year has required a high level of alertness and protection of my home and family. This is the first year we have seriously discussed leaving the United States because really feel unsafe for us to live here and thrive. I hope this country can do something about our situation with both Policing and Hate before we dissolve into non stop tribal warfare and violence. This call to action and support will go to the high courts of international conflict. Please help me forward this letter to leaders of every civil society.

9/24/19
500 words - 9/24/19
In class we talked about whether or not boredom is the root of all evil. I do not think boredom always leads to evil and I dont think all evil comes straight from boredom. I think there are crimes all the time that are from blind rages or pure desperation. I think a lot of crimes come from emotions that get away from people and in the moment they do something crazy or someone commits a crime because they really can’t see another way to get by without stealing. I just don’t like the idea of someone being so unbelievably bored that they just went out and murdered someone. If someone is killing out of boredom they are just a psychopath and don’t really follow the ideas of existentialism.
Boredom probably leads to a lot of more minor crimes. People steal from department stores because they get a thrill to ease their boredom. Teens drink/ smoke underage because they are bored. I grew up in a rural area and I see a lot of my childhood friends drinking and smoking over snapchat constantly. I can see why, there’s nothing else for them to occupy themselves with! The schools in the area are crumby and there’s little other extracurriculars to distract themselves with. I think anyone would turn to casual crimes if they were bored enough.
Class also discussed whether all lies lead to the truth. I think in the class discussion people had varied ideas of what “the truth” meant. To me “the truth” is the reason/motive someone is saying something, not the actual truth that they were covering up. Any lie that is told is told for a reason, whether its guilt, shame, denial, etc. The true motive behind a lie could never be discovered, but if you examine a lie it always leads back to the person's motive for lying.
“He who cannot unveil himself cannot love, and he who cannot love is the unhappiest of all” (13). I really liked this quote from the reading. I don’t think people should/can fall in love until they can accept themselves as corny as it is. Kierkegard was definitely the hardest reading for me yet, but there’s a lot of really stand out quotes throughout that kind of pieced it together for me.
I was talking with my brother about the whole “coping with absurdity” from class on the 17th and he brought up that “faith” could be more than just religious faith. People have faith in the kindness of other people, faith in their own abilities, faith it will all just work out, etc. I’m not sure if those counts as dealing with absurdity through faith or just not acknowledging the absurdity.
I still haven’t spoken in class yet, which sucks because I know I can add to the discussion. I get all anxious and struggle to organize my thoughts whenever I even think to raise my hand. I’m not all that nervous about presenting to the class, but I am nervous about contributing to the discussion.

Actor and comedian Jerry Seinfeld is no stranger to success. An Emmy, a Golden Globe and several Screen Actors Guild Awards are a few of the accomplishments to his name, not to mention one of the most iconic television series in the 20th century.
So what’s Seinfeld’s secret? How did he manage to achieve such sizable goals?
With this simple maxim: Don’t break the chain.
Using an old-school wall calendar, Seinfeld started drawing Xs through each day in which he accomplished his goal of joke-writing. As Seinfeld explained to an aspiring comedian:
“For each day that I do my task of writing, I get to put a big red X over that day. After a few days, you’ll have a chain. Just keep at it and the chain will grow longer every day. You’ll like seeing that chain, especially when you get a few weeks under your belt. Your only job next is to not break the chain.”
Those consecutive Xs lead to momentum: the force that allows something — like motivation — to grow stronger or faster as time passes. Momentum, however, faces an equal and opposite force: friction. In science, friction means the resistance caused when one object moves at a different rate than another.
In our everyday lives, friction means any one of an endless number of possible distractions: long meetings, cluttered inboxes, chatty colleagues, social media and more. Though we can’t eliminate those sources of friction entirely, it’s crucial to learn how to manage them. Because if you can’t manage friction, it will slow your momentum like lead in a balloon. But if you can, you position yourself to achieve your most ambitious business and career goals. And it all comes down to sustaining momentum.
Why sustained momentum pays off (big)
From age 32 to 44, Warren Buffett increased his net worth by 1,257 percent. In the next 12 years, he grew it by 7,268 percent. How did he achieve these extraordinary results? By leveraging an economic phenomenon known as the compound effect, whereby consistent, incremental changes result in fundamental changes over time.
Beginning at age 32, Buffett started building a chain of investments — and he never stopped. This sustained momentum created a compound effect, which for Buffett, yielded massive wealth.
Sure, some people hit it big once. But a more likely route to success is by committing to the long-haul and trusting that things will add up over time. As Gary Keller and Jay Papsan, authors of The One Thing, write:
“Success is sequential, not simultaneous.”
This mindset is crucial for building a business, especially if you, like me, choose to go the bootstrapped route. There are also some interesting psychological effects to keep in mind if you want to increase your likelihood of achieving success.
Research shows: Seeing is achieving
Analyzing data from Olympic and Sectional swim competitions, researchers have found that athletes swim faster when swimming toward (versus away from) the end where the finish line is located.
It’s because when we can visualize a goal — in the case of competitive swimmers, a finish line — we exert more effort to reach that goal. Experts call this the goal visualization effect. Of particular interest for entrepreneurs, managers can use this effect to enhance consumer goal pursuit and motivate employees to improve performance.
For example, my company, JotForm makes user-friendly online forms. We use demos to show customers how our forms can help them achieve their personal or business goals, and in doing so, we motivate them towards those goals — and to use our products.
Similarly, when we perceive progress toward a goal, we’re more likely to complete the goal, and faster. Experts call this the endowed progress effect. To demonstrate, researchers Joseph C. Nunes and Xavier Drèze examined how loyalty programs motivate consumers to purchase more.
As a location for this sophisticated experiment, they chose your friendly, neighborhood car wash. Customers were given cards where they would receive a stamp for each car wash. After collecting eight stamps, they could redeem a free sud session. Here’s the rub: some cards had spaces for eight stamps and others had spaces for 10, with two spots already stamped.
The researchers found that 34 percent of those with the 10-stamp cards redeemed their ninth free wash, versus 19 percent with the empty, eight-stamp cards. This shows that customers who perceived they were making progress from the get-go were more likely to progress toward their goal — even if it’s just a free wash.
With these psychological factors in mind, I’ve come up with a process for maintaining laser focus and sustaining momentum. It’s helped me to grow JotForm to 140 employees and 4.5 million users — without any VC funding. Hopefully, it can help you, too.
Develop long-term, goal-supporting habits
Every morning, I start my day by opening a blank document and writing for two hours uninterrupted. No emails, no calls, no alerts — just me, my keyboard and whatever’s on my mind. Usually, it begins as barely coherent, stream-of-consciousness prattle. But soon enough, I’m fleshing out recent issues and developing new ideas.
This daily habit has helped me to sustain momentum and continue to work toward my overarching goals — building a company with a healthy culture and offering users a seemingly simple, but game-changing product. Like hitting the gym as soon as I wake up, I do it even when I don’t feel like it. And that’s the beauty of habits — you don’t need motivation to complete them. Regardless of your mindstate on any particular day, you can continue adding to an unbroken chain.
2. Choose tools to keep you on track
If you want to manage friction and sustain your momentum, you’ll need some tools to help keep you on track. While Jerry Seinfeld’s tool-of-choice was a wall calendar, these days we’ve got a plethora of handy options to choose from.
For example, you may find that the modern equivalent to Seinfeld’s tool — a digital calendar — is useful for sticking with your daily habits. On the other hand, an analog paper planner can offer a range of benefits as well — from increased mindfulness to less device-related distractions.
And if you find yourself unable to overcome the temptation to check your smartphone or browse the internet, first, give yourself a break — you’re not alone in this struggle. Then, try downloading a tool like Freedom, which blocks distracting apps and websites so you can get more done.
Whether it’s an old-school alarm clock or a new-age productivity app, choose the tools that work best for you.
3. Track progress with outcome-based standards.
Every link you add to your chain should be based on a specific outcome — not just time elapsed.
So, for example, if you’re trying to learn a new language, don’t count the number of hours you study grammar — instead, focus on the first time you’re able to hold your own in a conversation. Because that’s how you’ll know if you’re truly progressing. That’s when you’ll be able to (metaphorically) mark an X on your calendar.
That said, outcomes aren’t the only thing to consider. To the extent possible, you should aim to enjoy the process, too.
4. You’re in it for the long-haul, so be reasonable.
If the purpose of our chains is to achieve a lofty goal, then we can think of each link as a sub-goal. It’s crucial to give yourself a reasonable amount of time to work through these links.
For starters, maybe your chain is currently your side hustle, in which case the lion’s share of your day is dedicated to your day job. Whatever the case, we can’t always dedicate a huge portion of our time to completing one goal. That’s why your timeline should be reasonable. Otherwise, you’re more likely to get discouraged and break the chain.
I’m a big advocate of taking breaks. Whether it’s a short walk after lunch or a visit to my family’s olive farm, I find myself notably refreshed and motivated after stepping away from the office. I’ve come up with some of my best ideas during these “down” times.
I wouldn’t have been able to build the company as it exists today had I not given myself a reasonable timeline to grow, and progress through each milestone. As Seinfeld’s rise shows: you don’t go from open mic nights to Emmy winner overnight. It takes time, daily effort and sustained momentum — and a little humor never hurt either.

Grroming gangs – not Asians – they are Muslims
Grooming is still rife in Britain: Warning as major report says police gave gangs the ‘green light’ to sexually abuse 700 girls and women – and reveals one attacker would have been BEHEADED in his homeland for his crime Authorities gave grooming gangs green light to abuse by not prosecuting Police and social services repeatedly let down victims, report highlights Despite ‘comprehensive’ action bringing abusers to court, exploitation remains Eight victims interviewed for report, told of how they were locked up not abusers
Grooming gangs are still sexually abusing girls and young women across the country despite repeated warnings and prosecutions, a shocking report revealed yesterday. Efforts to stop the exploitation have been hampered by the authorities’ failure to understand why abusers target vulnerable white girls, the investigation found. The author of a report into the latest abuse scandal yesterday urged the Government to order a national study into the ‘cultural influences’ on the offenders, predominantly from an ‘Asian British’ background.
The inquiry into gangs who groomed 700 girls and women in the North-East came four years after more than a thousand victims were found to have been abused in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The new report revealed: The authorities effectively gave grooming gangs the green light to sexually abuse by failing to prosecute, instead locking up victims; One abuser – an illegal immigrant granted indefinite leave to remain – denounced British girls’ ‘lack of morals’ and praised the availability of sex and drugs; The abuse of vulnerable victims is still ‘taking place across the country’ and ‘all children and vulnerable adults are at risk’ The serious case review by barrister David Spicer examined the actions of agencies involved in Operation Sanctuary, which was launched by Northumbria Police. The report identifies failures by police and social services, who repeatedly let down victims by not dealing with the abusers until a change of approach in 2014 – when Operation Sanctuary began. It ultimately resulted in 112 offenders being jailed for a total of almost 500 years. Among them was an 18-strong grooming gang in Newcastle, whose members were found guilty of rape, sexual assault, trafficking and inciting prostitution. Police believe the case involved over 100 victims. Mr Spicer said that since the Rotherham abuse scandal was exposed in 2011, there had been a change of attitude by agencies and an injection of resources. But he concluded that more needs to be done to defeat the criminals. He noted: ‘Despite comprehensive action to disrupt and prosecute perpetrators and the publicity that this has attracted, sexual exploitation continues. Perpetrators show remarkable persistence in targeting and grooming victims, undeterred by involvement of the police and other agencies.’ Attacker who ‘would have been beheaded in homeland’ An abuser who groomed teenage girls for sex would have been beheaded or stoned if he committed the same crimes in his home country, the report noted. The asylum seeker showed ‘no regret’ for his behaviour even after he was found guilty and attacked the ‘lack of morals’ of British girls. Before coming to Britain, the man, who was not named, spent ten years in Turkey, around five in Greece and some time in Italy and France. He had hoped to get to Canada. The report said: ‘If convicted for rape in his home country, he would be beheaded or buried up to the neck and stoned. ‘He was asked about what he thought about the United Kingdom and influences in his education.
‘He said you can get anything here – any sex, drugs, alcohol. There is no control. He spoke in a derogatory way about lack of morals in British girls and did not go with Muslim girls because there are not many of them.’ He exploited a 15-year-old girl – but told the inquiry team he was convicted only ‘because of a conspiracy by the Government, police and the judge who paid the victims’. The man was the only one of the abusers to agree to help the investigation. The report said it was ‘unfortunate’ there was not more input from other perpetrators. The review noted the abusers were mainly ‘not white but came from a diverse range of backgrounds including Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indian, Iranian, Iraqi, Kurdish, Turkish, Albanian and Eastern European’.
Mr Spicer criticised the aggressive, ‘inhuman’ cross examination of witnesses during the trials of the accused, including at Newcastle Crown Court (pictured) The report’s author, child sexual exploitation expert and barrister David Spicer, also criticised the aggressive, ‘inhuman’ cross-examinations carried out by defence lawyers during the trials. He said: ‘I am aware how easy it is to treat vulnerable witnesses badly. It’s not a difficult process to confuse them and distress them. ‘All the victims we spoke to said they were disgusted with their experience in the court and several of them had to have mental health treatment afterwards as they were suffering from trauma.’ One girl was questioned about material from her local authority records that she had no idea existed, let alone been released to the defence, Mr Spicer said. He added: ‘Knowingly exposing a vulnerable, damaged person to that experience does seem to be inhuman and degrading treatment because you know they are going to be damaged by the process.’ Victims told Mr Spicer how they were raped while under the influence of drink and drugs. ‘I never had sex when I was sober,’ one said. ‘I wanted to leave. I was given drink. I kept saying no and fighting them off. I was very tired and fell asleep. When I woke, I had been raped.’ The review also said many victims did not realise they were being abused because the perpetrators made them think they were friends. One girl said: ‘I didn’t think what was happening was wrong. I thought they were my friends. They bought me drink and drugs.’

The County: partners in crime
How the officers of American law enforcement deadliest district plan to continue policing themselves
The vial of methamphetamine that the police officers found on Amyra Nicholson was small, she said, but their reaction was overwhelming.
Nicholson, who said her pocketbook was scoured “because shes” impounding it too tight while stand in her front yard in Bakersfield, California, to suggest that she was may be necessary to her shower in handcuffs, made to bend over and given an wasteful cavity search.
Nicholsons 14 -year-old daughter was summon and told by the same female polouse to disrobe to complete nakedness for a strip investigation while male detectives stood objecting their handguns, according to a suit from Nicholson that the city eventually colonized for $35,000.
One of the accused officers, Scott Tunnicliffe , no longer works for the Bakersfield police department. Instead, “hes been” placed in charge of scrutinising it.
After decades in which deaths involving patrolmen in the two biggest police departments in Kern County have been investigated merely by the departments themselves, the bureau of the county district attorney has in recent weeks become able to review such incidents if it picks. The DAs office claims to offer a newfound objectivity. Were not part of them, though we work with them, assistant DA Scott Spielman said recently of the local police.
But the link are closer even than previously declared, a Guardian investigation into the law enforcement officers of Kern County, who have killed more parties per capita than in any other US county so far in 2015, has acquired. The receives lend weight to declarations from commentators that police in Kern County are effectively patrolled only by themselves.
Tunnicliffe, the DAs 55 -year-old chief investigator, withdrew as a Bakersfield lieutenant in 2013, and receives a $75,000 -a-year pension for his police work in addition to his salary. Of 26 other sleuths working under him in the DAs office that could be identified, 19 is likewise previously Bakersfield police officers or Kern County sheriffs agents, according to a review of public registers. Three were former officers of other law enforcement agencies.
One of the other four investigators is a director of the Kern Law Enforcement Association, a union that represents the same Kern County sheriffs representatives whose potential lethal shootings would be reviewed by the DAs office.
Another DAs investigator accidentally killed and injured a high school footballer as law enforcement officers in Tulare, California, during a botched drunk-driving apprehend in 1986. Litigations over the shooting were determined for $70,000, according to local reports from the time. The policeman afterward worked for two decades as a Bakersfield police detective before moving to the DAs office in 2012.
District attorney Lisa Green, who declined to be interviewed, said in a statement she would ensure that any reviews of killings by police would be conducted in a fair and professional mode. Green, who has received thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from police trade unions and men since 2008, declined to comment on whether her researchers ties to the police could jeopardise this fairness. Tunnicliffe did not respond to questions about his new job or his character in the 2008 incident concerning Nicholson, who has since died.
But the family members of several people killed in recent years by law enforcement officers in Kern County said they were infuriated by the insular investigation process that followed the deaths, and did not trust local authorities to respond even-handedly.
Scott Tunnicliffe Photograph: Kern County District Attorney
If I committed a crime and investigated myself, I would be innocent, pronounced Traci Alderman, whose nephew Jason was shot dead by a Bakersfield police officer in August this year. Aldermans demise is the first officer-involved killing by the city department due to be reviewed by the DAs office. In this town, they hand your grease-gun back and suppose, basically, Go do it again, said his mother, Judy Edens.
Amid indifference from local authorities, five families of people killed by police, together with civil rights activists and attorneys, answered an inquiry into Kern Countys criminal justice system was now required if trust between policemen and regions of official-language minority communities were to be restored. Various cited incquiries launched by federal officials into other agencies across the US mired in their own controversies.
Frankly, I find the US Justice Department should come in, confiscate their computers, and do a thorough investigation of at the least the last 10 times, read Henry Mosier, a lately adjourned public advocate, who in 2010 threw a Kern County prosecution based on a police sting busines into chaos by unveiling that a detective interred unfavourable proof in the wilderness. The metropolitans and the district patrolmen. All of them.
Sgt Brian Holcombe penetrates the Bakersfield police department, which has justified all of its officer-involved killings under its current police chief, Greg Williamson. Picture: Mae Ryan for the Guardian
If a police officer shoots and kills person in Fresno, California, about 100 miles to the north of Bakersfield, government departments own research is coincided automatically with a separate investigation by the district attorney and a review by the citys Independent Police Auditor.
The goal, as in hundreds of other jurisdictions across the US, is to ensure at least the figure of objectivity through exemption from internal love and self-interest. You have two different entities that probe the hitting that are totally outside of our limit, mentioned Fresnos deputy police chief, Pat Farmer. It becomes the public detect theres no chance of us turning a blind eye to something that we perhaps dont want to expose.
Even in Ferguson, Missouri, where local officials were accused of mishandling almost everything about the aftermath of the lethal police shooting of Michael Brown in August 2014, the citys police chief immediately requested St Louis County police to take over the criminal investigation, in an attempt to avoid compounding allegations regarding a cover-up.
But in Kern County things are done differently.
When either a Bakersfield police officer or Kern County agent shoots a doubt dead, two inquests are provoked. But these are run by colleagues of the officer who opened fire. An investigation by internal affairs gleans manifestation on whether the killing complied with district plan. Detectives meanwhile look for any evidence of potential criminality.
In both departments, acquires are presented to bodies of senior commanders who sit in private. Bakersfields critical occurrence refresh committee is made up of the aide chief of police and four commands. At the sheriffs office, the sheriffs four honcho deputies perform the same character. In an interrogation, Bakersfield police chief Greg Williamson contended his board acted impartially despite their obvious conflict of interest TAGEND
Documents released by Bakersfield in response to a world preserves request showed the members of the commission of police captains frequently signs off on fatal shootings with exclusively a two-line memo to Williamson. Kern County rebuffed various requests for any records relating to its own incident re-examine timber, claiming they were protected by California law.
State legislation dating from the 1970 s, including a law officer greenback of rights, residences such documents under arguably the tightest restrictions on police records in all the US. Applications for personnels documents and disciplinary histories are flatly repudiated on the basis that their freeing would constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.
They will work to prevent you from going any knowledge whatsoever, mentioned Don Cook, a veteran attorney who has opposed actions against law enforcement in Kern County over undue implement of police bird-dogs. I have had to fight tooth and nail to get it. Jim De Simone, an attorney who acquired a village for a gentleman mischievously injured during a police commerce stop in 2012, agreed: To get suits resolved, you almost have to be complicit in the protection of officers.
Under an agreement reached between the district attorney and the county two major police departments in July this year, the DAs office may probe an officer-involved killing itself separately if it wishes. It may, however, simply refresh the existing conclusions of investigators who are the colleagues of the polouse who shot and former colleagues of most DAs investigators.
And the DAs office, which has looked into such shootings by the countys smaller departments for years, drops-off to make public details of how extensive their investigations actually are. It agreed to liberation merely a series of two-line decision memos in which it stated that following its evaluation of inquiries it had been determined that the security forces were justified.
This lack of transparency has angered residents whose relatives were killed. Its somewhat frustrating that they are still able to investigate their own and justify their own, pronounced Nicole Ramirez, whose unarmed friend Jorge was fatally shot by a group of officers during a botched bite enterprise while working as a police informant in 2013. In Ferguson they had a magnificent jury. Why cant we get a magnificent jury?
Police merely disclosed Ramirezs brother was working for them, rather than a suppose, after she and their own families obtained the 34 -year-olds text messages from the nighttime he died through an online repository. What if we hadnt? she told. I actually believe we need a third-party bureau here. We need the Department of Justice to come and take over Bakersfield police department.
Kern County sheriffs lieutenant John Swearengin was hastening to assist the pursue of a splendid steal vehicle doubt miles across Bakersfield. But before he got there, he generated international crimes situation of his own.
It was December 2011. The lieutenant had been driving at 80 mph in a 45 mph zone. With his pedal to the metal, according to a sworn deposition, he sped through various intersections. Then his vehicle struck two parties. Chrystal Jolley, 30, and 24 -year-old Daniel Hiler were spanning the road with a motorcycle. Swearengen punched the pair at 64 mph and applied the dampers simply a half second before affect. Both Jolley and Hiler were killed.
The deputy had not initiated his emergency lights or sirens, and later conceded during the deposition that he had no idea how quickly he was walking. Swearengin had also been penalized for good driving in the past.
Whitney Peaker, Hilers fiancee, had been on her acces to fill him. She strolled over to the police front, where a gathering had assembled, anxious to insure what the rucku was about. Then she realised the parent of her two child sons was dead. I exactly went into a commonwealth of shock, she said in an interrogation. I remember, but I dont recollect, because I precisely froze.
Swearengin insisted he was authorised to disregard the regulation of the road even without his alarms on. He said it was his understanding that the department required officers to request permission before returning on sirens and emergency lights, and that he had been contacting for the radio to make this seek when the crash happened.
But both the deposition of a elderly Kern County lieutenant and the departments rulebook on disaster driving, which territory quickens above posted velocity limits are rarely necessary or justifiable denied him.
Swearengin was charged with two offense weighs of vehicular manslaughter and gross negligence. After a reviewer ruled that his prior disciplinary evidence would be inadmissible in tribunal due to the police officer invoice of rights, he agreed to plead guilty to one count of misdemeanour vehicular manslaughter. He was sentenced to 480 hours of community service and fined $470. The city colonized two civil lawsuits over the action for $8.8 m.
Despite this, Swearengin was allowed to return to work, and continues to serve as a deputy sheriff.
John Swearengin Photograph: Youtube
In an interview, Kern County sheriff Donny Youngblood once again quoth the law officer proposal of rights when rejecting to detail how Swearengin was penalized. He pronounced, however, that international sanctions against him were substantial.
His intent was not to do something bad, Youngblood said in justifying his decision to keep Swearengin on the force. His intent was to do something good.
In addition to the ironclad bill of rights, California is one of exclusively six states that absence a regulatory commission well placed to repealed the law enforcement licences of officers who have done wrong, just as a lawyer or physician may be affect from their professing.
As a develop, the state has one of the countrys lowest charges for polouse ends. Those rejected over behavior in the number of jobs are regularly rehired at other government departments that fail to obtain full details of their wrongdoing or take advantage of it to compensate a lower wage, according to professor Roger Goldman of St Louis University, who analyses police licensing laws.
For Whitney Peaker, Swearengins aims were irrelevant. I feel like he shouldve lost his enterprise, she mentioned, as her baby wept. He should have done prison time for it.
He goes home every night to his family. His minors caressed him goodnight, and my sons will never have that.
It would take the death of another civilian, this time a 72 -year-old woman, for the department to insert any major improvement to its driving programmes.
Kern County is a largely rural and republican swath of central California where local populations often supports the actions of law enforcement. Image: Mae Ryan for the Guardian
Nancy Garrett had finished watching the Los Angeles Dodgers thumped the Colorado Rockies in video games that went to additional innings. As she drove back from her sons house in the early hours of the morning in September last year, she extended through an intersection and was struck by deputy Nicholas Clericos patrol car. The man was driving to assist with an arrest at a bar battle and had his light-headeds and alarms triggered. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
An exhaustive California Highway Patrol investigation file into the incident, heard by the Guardian, divulges Clerico was circulating at nearly 85 mph over double the limit when he struck Garretts white Hyundai. Clerico had driven through a red light and applied his restraints precisely 0.02 seconds before the accident. The investigation, which found that Garrett was driving on an expired driving license, concluded Clerico was to blame for the collision.
The investigation likewise reveals that Clerico had been been involved in an on-duty crash before. In December 2012 he gate-crashed while driving his prowl car in Tehachapi while driving at an unsafe accelerate. Just 2 month earlier, he had been involved in another accident while off office. Clerico was found to be at fault for both.
Garretts adult babes, Mark McGowan and Debbie Blanco, are frantic that Clerico was allowed to remain behind the rotation. Lending to their feeling reflects the fact that their babies death appeared simply 1.8 miles down the road from the fatal clang implying Hiler and Jolley, in the same Bakersfield suburb.
Clerico has been charged with misdemeanors vehicular manslaughter but remains on paid administrative leave.
A month after Garretts death, Youngblood announced some improvements. He would foreclose agents “whos” caught hastening from driving to and from work in their patrol vehicles a move contested by the police uniting, who challenged government departments repay patrolmen personal ga payments. He also installed GPS tracking to observe men rapidities, and enforced seatbelt checks.
For Mark McGowan, the new programs are meaningless. My momma is dead, of course its not sufficient. Nothing is going to be enough, he added through rips. Is it enough for the next being? I hope so.
But on 14 July this year, 59 -year-old Larry Maharrey was killed in a conflict with Kern County sheriffs representative Marvin Gomezs patrol car. Police promptly said Maharrey crashed into Gomez. But according to a lately registered civil demand, representative Gomez, who had his illuminations and sirens on as he responded to situations of emergency entitle, turned through a red light and collided with Maharreys motorcycle.
The lethal disintegrate occurred on the same road on which Hiler and Jolley were killed in 2011.
It is little known to the public, and scarcely makes a chime. But Kern County already has a watchdog person that is supposed to investigate and audit all aspects of Kern County government. Confusingly called a splendid jury, this 19 -person panel of voluntaries is responsible more for monitoring municipal authorities than considering criminal indictments.
The jurors have subpoena supremacy and may deport hearings. A four-person law and justice committee within the panel is responsible specific for oversight of all law enforcement agencies in the county and fielding public grievances. Yet annual reports filed by the committee indicate members exposed little interest about the actions of police officers, even as the district became the owner of the nations highest rate of officer-involved deaths.
While I was on the committee, I didnt see anything that would cause me to have to build inquests on things, Mahlon Keel, the 2013 -1 4 the law and the courts chairperson, said in an interrogation. Expected whether he was confident police always used force appropriately, Keel did: I wouldnt want to make a comment either way, simply because I dont know all the facts on any circumstances of the present case. Keel did not recognise the names of people killed in controversial meetings with law enforcement officers in recent years.
Reports from past years show Keels precedes inspected the police departments and noted little needed to change. Recommendations: none, the meetings of the committee spoke of Bakersfield police department in 2013. No response required.
Records show that among the 19 people selected for the 2013 -1 4 magnificent jury, only two had any event in law enforcement. At least 14 of the 19 were lily-white some declined to say yet more than 51% of the countys person is Hispanic, in agreement with the US census bureau. Merely one juror was under the age of 55.
Keel, a retired farm material salesman of 30 years who does not have event in law enforcement, rejected review of the county officers. Parties jump to judgments without having the facts of the case, he read, as evidenced in Ferguson and some other places back east.
City and district managers demo a same deficiency of appetite for more scrutiny of officers. Neither Bakersfield mayor Harvey Hall nor city manager Alan Tandy would observation for this series about their omission of law enforcement.
Councilman Willie Rivera, the only Democrat on Bakersfields seven-person city council, said in an interview that the issue appeared to be of no pastime to other councillors and that he alone had been clearing inquiries about what recurring training officers in the county received to help them address and assess hazardous situations.
There still is a certain amount of disconnect between some of my colleagues and whats really going on in the street, said Rivera. I cant inevitably tell you the rest of the council would be interested in questioning those questions.

Both Williamson and Youngblood say they support the use of officer person cameras. But Youngblood had recently begun trialling their use in Wasco, a city 30 miles north-west of Bakersfield, where a substation of 18 police police 26,000 residents.
There is no such attempt, nonetheless, at the Bakersfield police department. Williamson said the city manager had declined to provide the money required to apply for a federal gift. He quoth the citys high case overheads as one taken into account in the lack of monies. Others have requested a civil examine members of the board of the type operating in other cities to observe the actions of officers. Youngblood, nonetheless, aggressively repudiated the relevant recommendations TAGEND
Outsiders have, however, combed through Bakersfields traditions before. In 2003, officials in the Department of Justices civil right department opened an investigation into the department, provoked by accusations about discriminatory practices by patrolmen against Latino residents.
While Bakersfield captains eventually trumpeted the finding that no constitutional misdemeanours were discovered, the federal auditors were in fact sharply critical in other respects, according to DoJ reports. Bakersfields plans on the use of force-out were found to be in total disarray and failed to provide any guidance to men on when thrust should be used.
The department was instructed to overhaul government regulation on firearms, pepper spraying, chokeholds, opened fire at moving autoes, and using police puppies to bite people. It was also told to stop officers raising their own weapons to design. We learned that patrolmen in government departments carry artilleries that are not authorized by BPD policy, a senior official said in a 2004 note. Bakersfield rebuffed a DoJ guideline that detectives should have their firearms taken from them after shootings.
Records been demonstrated that in response to the review, Bakersfield bought an off-the-shelf given of regulations from Lexipol, a immediately changing California-based corporation that writes plan journals for police departments and continues up with changes to the laws so chiefs dont have to. Bakersfield now has a standard set of rules about when detectives may film beings.
But the extent to which the brand-new rulers have taken root across the department remains unclear. Under Bakersfields city charter, police are barred from hiring outside nominees except as entry-level rookies. All other vacancies, including the right of the police chief, must be to be completed by advertisements from within the ranks. This remarkable govern means the departments entire executive-level leadership officers at the grade of lieutenant or higher have served inside BPD for more than 10 years and arrived before the reform efforts.
The whole culture must be amended, replied Kathleen Faulkner, a Bakersfield attorney who asked the Justice Department to investigate the first time around. They need to hire different beings, hand-picked parties. They need to look closer into their backgrounds and what kind of parties they are. Their whole education is Be a tough guy, Shoot first, ask questions afterwards, He was contacting for his waistband, We precisely want to go back to our families.
A survey of the departments rank and file be carried forward last year by the International Association of Chiefs of Police found policemen scathing about the effect of this closed process. Notes to a chum system, good ol boy organization, nepotism, cronyism, affections with respect to advertisements and movements were common, said the IACP.
The survey learnt fewer than half of officers did command staff lead by example and that they had confidence in the leadership of this organisation. Another explanation failed to pass majority muster: I can freely express sentiments, concerns and suggestions without suspicion of negative consequences.

At the end of October this year, Kern County deputies ascertained themselves forced to initiate a manhunt for one of their own.
Deputy Edward Tucker, who had had participated in government departments for 18 times, had been on unpaid leave for 12 months. Tucker, 44, had been arrested twice that week. After he twinkled a handgun at a group of girlfriends in Bakersfield, deputies disclosed methamphetamine and five handguns, two shotguns and an assault rifle in his vehicle. Tucker was charged but posted bail.
Days later, a retired colleague questioned deputies to check on him after he cast a series of suicidal text themes. The officers knew Tucker in a park. Formerly again “hes in” owned for narcotic drugs and firearms, but this time with an explosive explode line as well.
He was arrested and driven to incarcerate in downtown Bakersfield. But as men crowded in paperwork in the carpark, somehow Tucker was able to slip his handcuffs, open the back door of the patrol car and march calmly out of the facility.
He was on the run for two days, considered armed and dangerous, before being pinpointed and arrested at a home in Oildale.
Of course that is embarrassing, answered Youngblood. But this organisation has 1,300 employees and its a crew. One member of that crew does something stupid like that, the rest of the team, they dont get behind them.
Tucker awaits experiment on five trespas accusations, including wilful brutality to a child, and four misdemeanors, including narcotics self-possession. He remains a agent of the Kern County sheriffs department.
