Hiya Penny! I've heard you mention your voice effects on stream, but I have no idea what they are and can't tell the difference! What voice processing stuff do you use?

I have a whole chain of voice effects on my stream microphone (set up through Wave Link) that make the overall sound a lot better for streaming and easier on the ears as well as easier to mix. This is the primary effects chain

In order: 1. Acon Digital DeVerberate 3 is a VST plugin that straight up almost MAGICALLY reduces reverb from a vocal track. I have never personally used a reverb reduction effect or software that works better than this one. Of course, ideally if you are recording for professional purposes this is not the kind of thing you want to rely on. For professional vocal work I have another microphone in my office closet where the space is treated to PHYSICALLY reduce unwanted sound reflection before it even hits the mic. But since my stream microphone is at my desk, and I don't have a lot of soft furniture in my hardwood flooring office, this plugin is pretty necessary and works wonders. Here is an example of the difference with literally not a SINGLE other bit of processing added:

Everything else on the list, save for maybe compression, is gonna be a bit more subtle and harder to hear individually especially once game audio is drowning it out a bit. But it all makes a difference and it's all very important to my stream's sound profile and I can not STAND when Wave Link bugs out and removes these things without me knowing lmao.

2. "GATE" is the ReaGate VST from Reaper (actually all of the remaining effects are Reaper VSTs and are entirely free jsyk!) and is mainly just there to make sure that quiet sounds unimportant to my commentary like rustling, shuffling, bumps, air conditioning, and/or voices leaking from other rooms doesn't appear on my stream's audio. Or at least as little of it as possible!

3. "EQ1" is a ReaEQ VST and it's my primary equalizer that reduces some of my voice's harsher frequencies, like harsh "s" sounds for example, and boosts some of the nicer sounding ones!

4. "COMPRESSION" is ReaComp and it helps level the overall volume and tone of my voice to give it a bit of that nice "radio" sound people like to hear in streams and podcasts, as well as keeping shouts and exclamations from being too overwhelming and whispers from being too inaudible. This is absolutely the effect other than deverberate that does the most to my stream's sound profile and is extremely important for a stream that sounds easy on the ears.

5. "EQ2" is just another instance of the same ReaEQ plugin from before but the changes it makes are a LOTTT more subtle. Really just meant to touch up the sound profile post-compression. It's absolutely the least vital effect here but I like having it haha.

Anyway, if you want to hear the difference I'd encourage you to listen to the first part of that previous DeVerberate audio example and then compare it to my voice fully processed in a clip like this!

Me just explaining all this maybe won't help you hear more of the difference in action if you don't really have an ear for this sort of thing but I hope it was helpful or at least interesting!

Most of them include the information we already know, so I will only be pointing out things I personally find interesting.

Anyway, I love how non-specific and non-alarming these character bios are. We can't scare the hoes by saying that beneath her cool exterior she wants to kill people around her and also drink 20 gallons of vodka, so "shy and stuck up" it shall be.

Again, it's hilarious how non-threatening these character bios are, considering Lilotte's whole parent thing is basically: (substitute "women" with "kids with families")

Coloring pages + Crayon Contest

A part of me wanted to be "haha, I colored all these coloring pages, for the Full Understanding of The Experience of this movie."

Then I realized that, as a person who is making a Joris painted music video, and had drawn at least 1:07 minutes worth of artwork of him and some other characters of this movie, I would rather-- [remembers that suicide jokes are bad] take cactus for a wife, than draw him for this blog too. I'm sorry.

It is reasonable to assume that Yugo turned to the camera, which made Lilotte turn as well, which made Atcham fall, which made Kerubim step away, and the only people carrying the cake who are still even a bit happy are Joris and Yugo.

let's start. you're placing a heavy amount of moral weight on 'weirdness' while (I think?) also recognizing that it's inherently an amoral quality. and it is - but that criticism doesn't really mean anything to me. like, the meat of this ask is just so hung up on 'normality', which is not a very useful metric for moral behavior or critique and I'm not sure what you want me to do with it. I do many harmless abnormal things, and there are many 'normal' things that cause great harm. like, what does a normal person do according to ao3 fans? do they read cp? do you consider that normal behavior? is that harmless? does reading cp, or turning a blind eye to it, adhere to this precious fic etiquette? should I conform? should I be polite and sit quietly while the community I'm in runs wild with abuse apologism and bioessentialist nonsense? I recognize this is not what your ask was about, but you're asking me to compare my behavior to what ao3 fans think is acceptable, and I went through the entire tag last year so I KNOW what kind of things they like. I just don't think I can extend the benefit of the doubt to this place I've never heard of until today but which sounds a bleak and wretched place

on to your next grievance - my critiques of the authors as people. I just read through my entire list and I am extremely specific and detailed about why I hated those works, going into poor characterization and soulless, boring writing. I specify if the works are confusing, infantalizing, bioessentialist, out of character, nonsensical, overwrought, passionless, disrespectful, insensitive, boring, poorly researched, misogynistic. is it really unfair to extrapolate from racist writing or an unwillingness to self-educate that the writer has racist ideas, and that might bleed out into their behavior and actions in the real world? that someone who writes an AU that doesn't make sense for the character didn't understand the characters' journey? that someone who writes a nonsensical story doesn't know what they're doing? that's just drawing conclusions based on what the writers themselves have already posted. that's entirely within the scope of a reader and any argument to the contrary is both absolutely absurd and an insult to the intelligence of literally any reader, of anything

but on that page I barely talk about the people who wrote them. except for the author who was white? because I know she's white, I looked her up and I think her writing of Chinese characters is really awkward and bad. I've also called a few writers racist idiots, but their fics were really poorly written, and the other one got mad when being corrected on cultural inaccuracies, so I mean. is that a stretch? like, maybe, but it is really unfair? I think no. it's not even that personal of an attack. but by and large I don't even care about the authors, and I don't know why you're getting so defensive of them when I'm simply judging their work and not them as people.

no matter how much of a fun hobby anyone claims fanfic is, it's not a form of media uniquely exempt from criticism. and I don't think it's healthy for any writers to take criticism of their work so personally. that's something for them to take responsibility for if they're going to post their stuff on the internet, and by extension readers need to be okay with that too.

back to my tag request, which is something that makes my personal blog usable for me - trying to act like an unusual tag request is the same as making assumptions about people based on what they write and post publicly is both unfair and really shitty of you, anon. is my 'weird' request really as bad as calling someone a misogynist for writing something sexist? I DO judge people for what they decide to publicly put into the world, and rightfully so. people have a responsibility for their creations. meanwhile there is absolutely no reason to judge me for my tagging requests no matter how strange they seem to you, because they're absolutely harmless. this isn't hypocrisy and I don't understand why you seem to think it is.

and I don't go out of my way to be an asshole - if someone's first language isn't english or if they're clearly not an experienced writer, I'm not going to be a dick about it. I mean, I try. I barely have over 100 followers. the anti-rec page is hard to get to, and notposted anywhere but my blog. I have never harassed anyone, or encouraged harassment. I don't even comment negative reviews. I purposefully didn't tags the recs when they were posts because I didn't want people finding them, and I don't even talk about my interests on other websites, much less spread my rec list around. this is purely a personal project I did for fun while under one of the most stressful times of my life to share with my online friends, and I don't regret it. I had a blast. this is nothing I wouldn't post on my blog or talk about with my friends anyway. I don't mind being criticized for it, since it's public too. I just don't feel bad about it either nor do I feel like apologizing or taking down the page.

As an atheist (and I'm not trying to make people be atheist here, jsyk, but it adds some perspective here that I think is valuable) it's fucking fascinating to me that there are people out there who think their own moral purity means more than the immediate threat to lives that would come from Trump's election.

If you're religious... what does it get you? Is there a free pass to whatever heaven you believe in if you PERSONALLY don't take part in a process that is literally designed (however awfully) to give you some modicum of input into society? If you're religious do you think that (like the Calvinists) one little dark stain of action on your gloves means you're condemned to the hells forever? DOES INACTION COUNT THOUGH? How do you KNOW? I will admit the religious part of it baffles me completely no matter which way I come at it because I am an atheist, but I'm still fascinated by the way you can justify doing harm to more people and staying somehow morally pure - that said, I'm baffled by the Catholic Church too and I'm married to a Catholic so whatever.

If you ARE an atheist (and i do also know that in the USA this is a minority) I am baffled by how being "morally pure" actually... is even a thing? My philosophy in life is to do the least harm. I am not a moral authority, I do not choose to push my beliefs on others, but if I see a path that actively hurts others I fucking get the fuck off it. For me morality is a personal thing and if your personal morality has decided that MORE folks "just need to die" because "otherwise I'll be morally corrupt" then I don't like your personal morality at all thank you very much.

I know suicide is the most likely option but I'm a big fan of the idea that PK died via void poisoning. Like I know he was probably smart enough to not let it hurt him in canon but god I find it so funny. Kinda links back to how IRL people desperate to create weapons via radioactive materials often died instead.

AHH I don't know, people characterise pk as a coward (he is) and I worry that people are going with the suicide route because they view it as the cowardly way out. I know people don't intend it that way and I don't intend to accuse anyone of doing so, suicide is just a sore spot for me so it's just a case of personal taste.

I also enjoy interpretations of the shades coming to drag him out of the world of the living. Kinda reminds of a story I read when I was little about a man being pecked to death by a swarm of crows. Get fucked by the consequences old man.

Anyways you know more about PK than I do, to what extent do you believe he practiced lab safety?

I mean, I can certainly see PK being poisoned by the void, but the main reason why I don't think it killed him is because a.) The area around his throne is completely devoid of void, b.) The void close to the throne room is from fallen kingsmoulds, which is inert after they lose shape, c.) The White Palace requires an awoken Dreamnail to enter it to access his hiding place, which we know no other vessels have access to before Ghost, and d.) The Void Sea was unawakened before Ghost entered, and so could not act for itself. There's just no canonical way that PK could have been killed by the void apart from poisoning built-up from exposure, but we see no evidence of that either.

That isn't to say that I'm not fond of the idea of him being void poisoned, however! It's something that I love to play with in my fics, and that I utilize heavily in Until Dawn Shall Break. I think that he took all the precautions necessary when working with void, but since void is an aspect heavily associated with the manifestation of regret, it ended up building up within him despite all his precautions. He was poisoned by his own actions and his own pain building up within him without acknowledging it, and it tainted him and affected every other aspect of his life, even if he didn't intend it (i hc that hornet has a black carapace bc the void affected his genetics, like radiation poisoning). It won't kill him, he's too strong for that, but it sickens him and leaves its taint on others around him

I also never consider suicide to be cowardly, jsyk! I call PK a coward for not facing the Radiance directly, but PK is a creature of logic first and foremost, so it's very likely that he genuinely was incapable of fighting the Radiance without using the void. The reason why I hc him to have committed suicide was because the sheer amount of guilt and pain he felt at the vessel plan being all for naught + losing Hallownest would have been absolutely devestating to him, and that paired with the hc I have of him placing all self-worth into his use as the King of Hallownest means that suicide would have been a form of 'justice' in his eyes- he failed, his worth became moot, he did unmentionable things that he would execute any other being for, and so he ceased to be. It also prevented the Radiance from taking his life in battle and mutilating his corpse, too, so it was a sort of final 'fuck you' to her. Can't win the game if you haven't captured the king.

But yeah overall I see PK's suicide as another aspect of the tragedy of the story- he loved so much, but he thought in extremes, with black-and-white thinking that had rigid rules that could not bend, only break. He loved so much that it killed him, and it killed all his loved ones as well.

Yes, I am aware of this. We interacted often about a year and a half ago. I was closer with who was our mutual friend, but as far as I can tell he doesn't seem to be involved in this so I won't say anything about him. Vesperione, a minor, and I, for part of our friendship and older minor and the other part a young adult as far as my memory serves, were roleplayers and friends for a time. At some point they invited me to an instagram group chat with themself, the "he" from before, who made me feel better about being invited, as well as all of their other mutual friends. I talked and joked in there some times, but I always felt like my jokes didn't land in that group. I asked our mutual if I was fitting in okay and he said I was fine, but after that at some point, I'd made a joke in response to someone else's about us not having a life because we spent all our time on social media. Vesperione was very upset by this joke because as I recall they'd had stalker problems online in the past, and it triggered them. I asked if it was a good idea that I leave the group chat, and they said yes, and so I did without hesitation. I was later blocked by both them and our then mutual, which was very painful, so much so that I oened an old account and tried to reach out to him specifically again to talk, but I was later informed by someone else that that had made him quite uncomfortable, and I can understand why. That wasn't the smartest move, and I should have let him be. I'm not perfect, just not a pedophile. They have a selection of screenshots, and perhaps or perhaps not several more I haven't seen, but I'll briefly go over what I've seen posted. Photos of male nipples with zippers photoshopped over them, with text in between saying "STOP I'M MORTIFIED" This started as a joke in messages, i forget how it came to be but the "Zipple" was created by myself and either the HE or Ves themself, which I then made several photos for, which I was showing to them because I was going to make a video out of it, because I thought it was very funny. As far as I can remember, I had 2 rps with these 2 ex friends. One where some key hatchetfield characters were trapped in Henry's basement shelter to survive from a nuke, and one with John McNamera and Xander, and some other side characters like Charles. Neither of these to my recollection had sexual themes. Henry found chad in the first one, but that was played very sweet, not crass. Also in that one I think Linda and Tom had to share a pull out couch bed due to the lack of beds in his basement, and they woke up in each others arms with Linda thinking he was Gerald, since he looked so similar. But that was played for jokes, or at MOST a possible sweet romantic plot down the line. As for the PEIP RP, I don't remember anything remotely sexual or possibly sexual happening in it. They were dating, but as far as I can remember (And I can't check since I'm blocked) There was no sexual action whatsoever. I never had any sexual roleplays or conversations with these people, or anybody else whom I knew was under age for that matter. I have definitely roleplayed smut, but never knowingly so with a minor. Fuck my phone, fuck it up the charging port, do it.

This one might seem completely inappropriate, but this was the usual way we as friends talked. Messages I CAN still see from screenshots and one single thread include "Well fuck their pretty little bleached A" and "DOOR IS EASY, DOOR IS GOOD.". We were very chaotic, and though consistency doesn't make it okay, AT ALL, they had every chance on many occasions to make it known that those jokes made them uncomfortable, or end the friendship and block me, which again, they did not do until I DID make them uncomfortable with a joke. I'm not saying it was impossible that they were uncomfortable during our conversations, but it was never made known to me that the balance I'd found in our messages was wrong and not to their liking. Fuck me stiff n call me drift wood.

There is very very little context provided for this comment. I have no clue why I'm saying that, but it's obviously just an exaggerated reaction, in a once again very chaotic and consistent conversation chain. Doesn't make it right, it just makes the point that this was once again not something they took overt offence to at that time. They even show that they'd hearted the message, which is in fairness the basic react emoji for Instagram but it implies that they didn't dislike or find any harm in the joking comment. Final image is 3 people who I considered friends only 24 hours ago saying they'd always felt weird about me, 2 named and one anon. Krow was the one who invited me to that particular Discord server, and the only one to actually tell me what the fuck was happening with all this, so I respect her for that and wish her well. Hypno apparently always felt off about me, but again I had no idea and nothing specific was said, just that my vibes were off. If I did do something troubling, I'd hope they would have reached out to me to talk to me about it, but nothing seemed off at all until I was suddenly kicked from that server without notice. And to the third anon, I'm sorry I made you feel uncomfortable. Again, and I made this known several times over my time on the server, that if anybody thought I crossed a line, I'd be happy to change mt behavior accordingly. About a week ago, I was contacted by a mod from the Hatchetfield Bang event I was a part of for a very similar reason, "Pressured NSFW roleplay with minors". My response, paraphrased, was that I recalled no such instances in which I'd knowingly asked to partake in ERP with a minor. I also brought up that I'd had some friendships end rather nastily in the SK community, and that I wasn't going to directly invalidate anybody's experiences or claims, "there’s something to be said for someone wanting to specifically target me." Vesperione is a prolific Hatchetfield fanfic writer, whom I think found my account through the bang, and wanted to get me out. After talking to the moderator, I agreed it would be bad to have me paired with that specific person, or any minors given the nature of the accusation, and I was allowed to stay, until only an hour ago when I was kicked from the server, along with many many others as these screenshots and perhaps other things I don't know of yet circulate around the community. But, this is my recollection of the things shown in the screenshot that I saw. If there is more evidence to talk about, please feel free to send it to me so I can see it, and I promise that I will post it and talk about it no matter what it looks like or how damning it seems to be, if there is anything to be considered "Damning". If i'm wrong, and I did absolutely fuck up and try to force minors to roleplay NSFW, then I will say that, and apologize for it, and let whatever may happen happen because that is wrong.

I love couples who know each other so well it's like they read minds or share thoughts, it's so good. They would clean up at one of those game shows where you have to writ down your partner's answer to a bunch of questions. xD I cannot blame Marii for any of those kinks bc they're all very fair ones to have wrt Tragen. And I've long headcanoned for Tragen's own universe--and now this one apparently-- that they don't make it common knowledge he has less of a Force connection than your average Jedi/Sith. Might be perceived as weakness yada yada. And people he fights are too busy trying to survive to notice he's like 95% martial skill/5% Force use. This is just one more benefit; someone like Brin goes "How do you catch a Sith? Get him away from his lightsaber and cut the Force and he's nothing" aaaannnnnnddd they're Very Very Wrong. >:3 I love the contrast between Tragen and Marii's personalities, and their complementary roles in escaping(I had to throw in combat. It's my Brand now) were so fun to work out. The thing about Tragen's ship is another long standing headcanon, and Vette will be thrilled to help Marii redecorate. She's already complained about it being gloomy multiple times before the end of the class story. xD (Now I want to write Marii "kidnapping" Vette for a girls' day which just means giving the Celestial Dawn a makeover and Vette's practically dancing with excitement the whole way through Bed Bantha and Beyond(I'm laughing at that again jsyk) bc she's wanted to do this for a DECADE, why didn't you start dating him sooner?!?!? shush with your logic about Emperor's Wrath and Jedi Battlemaster etc

Tragen is... aware some people(Marii included) find his voice attractive. He is NOT aware of just HOW Attractive. I just have to say that this is definitely wild. Especially because that's, just, not what happened in the show, and trying to paint Steve as this evil assaulter who was only using Nancy for sex literally undoes his entire plot in s1 that proves he wasn't just using her for sex.

In the first scene, he pushes for more, she says no, they joke a little, and then he stops. It was clearly meant to be lighthearted. The scene where they actually do have sex, Nancy initiates it. Steve did not at any point force Nancy into having sex. Lighthearted joking about having sex is not sa. If you cannot tell the difference between lighthearted joking around and literal fucking SA then please do not say shit like this, especially if you haven't experienced SA yourself.

Like, if you wanna talk SA maybe talk about the very real violation of consent in the show by Jonathan.(ftr I have forgiven Jonathan for this, he has clearly grown since s1 I just feel it's necessary to bring up in this convo bc jncy shippers tend to just ignore that this happened) Jonathan not only violated nancy's privacy, he also violated Tommy's, Barb's, Steve's and Carol's consent in taking these pictures. They were not in a public space, he went into a private gathering and took pictures without consent. That's a violation of privacy, tommy and carol being assholes doesn't mean they should get their privacy taken. It's gross, and it's even worse when people try to excuse Jonathan's actions and say he didn't do anything wrong.

Yes, Jonathan has grown and can be forgiven for this.

So many conversations surrounding jncy and stncy lack much needed nuance, which can lead to people saying things like this as "proof" that a character/ship is bad and terrible and the worst ship ever.

Oh god, okay, so.

If I remember correctly it's a tangent off of the base theory that Crocodile is a trans man which is based primarily on the interactions between himself and Iva, his acceptance of Bon Clay as a member of Baroque Works (even allowing them to work alone instead of in a gendered pair), and the emphasis put on masculinity with him, like he's not just desert king Crocodile, he's desert king SIR Crocodile. People are also speculating that a woman we see in the live action during Roger's execution may be a pre transition Crocodile but that's a bit less relevant.

Moving specifically to the mom/dad theory, the main sort of trigger for it afaik is in Marineford. Specifically that when Dragon is revealed to the world to be Luffy's father, we 1. Do not get to see Crocodile's reaction despite seeing many others and 2. He starts going out of his way to help and protect Luffy in the fight, most notably facing down Akainu when Jinbe is trying to escape with him, with that weird line about how you have to protect things you care about (paraphrased). From there people made other connections and speculation- if Crocodile knows Iva, he could very well have known Dragon as well, and possibly been involved with the revolutionary army- his past is very unclear, after all. The art Oda made of the og warlords as kids has Crocodile appear rather gender neutral, and not just in the general way kids do.

There's a lot more of the little coincidences and joking evidence (like the anime filler with Luffy as a lil mafia guy), you can check out the crocomom tag for that (some people also use dad for this theory jsyk).

Worm anon again, going to give my two cents on why I think SSOL and (early) Worm are really similar but take it with a grain of salt because I'm still about a third into Worm... I think what initially made me draw the connection between Worm and SSOL is a scene in Worm where the main villain team has to crash a gala with a bunch of heroes in attendance. Demoni crashing a gala and immediately talking about Paratech made me think of Worm and how superpowered people in that universe are called Parahumans. But there's also a lot of similarity between how the action is written in SSOL and Worm! For one, Worm deals with a lot of fights with A LOT of people (including one with every single parahuman in the city and a lot from out of town as well). But it's very rarely confusing because the prose is clear and easy to read. This is true in SSOL as well! In the guildhall fight, I could clearly tell what Mae, Luke, Ale, Jere, Bojan and the Civilians were all up to! There was never a sense that anyone was just frozen NPCs if that makes sense. Jere and the POV character of Worm, Taylor, are pretty similar too I think. They're both the slightest bit naive about their respective hero systems at first, both want to do what's right in the end but they still draw lines on what's justifiable for the "greater good" (though for Taylor that line is starting to get more and more blurry). If you are interested in picking up Worm someday I would highly highly encourage it! Even so little into the story, it's been providing pretty interesting insights into the superhero genre! Though I have to warn you, though the author clearly tries to approach sensitive topics with empathy and care, he is a white Canadian man in 2010 and you can sometimes see his biases poking through... Hope you enjoyed my worm-y rant and I hope to God it wasn't too incomprehensible

Hey jsyk... "rude and very transphobic" are very subjective opinions. I looked at the post and tags in question, and honestly it looks... perfectly fine. Now I don't claim to speak for anyone or any group (but perhaps other anons should remember that they don't get to be the spokesperson for any group either).

We all have different opinions, informed by different life experiences, and different interpretations of words and actions.

To answer your questions (at least from my pov), no your tags weren't a dogwhistle. I'm inclined to agree with you that it's the association with inanomate objects that tend to make it an insult. Regardless, dogwhistles are, by design, intended to be easily confused with regular good-faith speech; it's really the intent and context that matters. Someone saying "my gender is chair" to relate to their own personal experiences is absolutely not the same as someone saying "my gender is chair" to ridicule the concept of gender identities.

So I appreciate your humility and self-reflection, but don't beat yourself up about it.

Aw thank you for the concern! I wasn't beating myself up over it by any means, I'm just always very curious about why people perceive me/my words the way they do. Part of that is growing up undiagnosed autistic; when you're constantly misinterpreted or punished for saying "the wrong things", asking "but why" becomes second nature. I figured it was mostly a case of differing opinions and I respect those even if I don't agree, as I've already pointed out. I did want to know exactly where anon was coming from before I formulated a more elaborate response. Their argument did sound a little gender-critical lite, so I’m assuming they’re on the young side of things and have potentially been influenced by GC folk. 

I absolutely agree that intent and context matter most, though. It can be hard to get those from isolated incidences of a phrase, but that's precisely why I don't make that joke in e.g. my bio.

Anyway, appreciate your perspective as well as that of everyone else!

wow thanks! that was a really in depth post about it you make good points! when I played I definitely got the sense that monika had encouraged sayori to kill herself and I didn’t get the sense of any remorse when natsuki or yuri died or got fucked up but I guess u do make some good points there about how she was just trying to make them less desirable rather than kill them. I’m new to the game and the fandom so im not super familiar with everything yet but is there anything in the canon or lore that points away from monika having pushed sayori to commit suicide or is it mostly just fan theories and personal readings? either way thank u so much for answering!

not, all i want for them is to die. she doesnt want to kill them. she wants to separate us from them so we are with Her, not them. things spiral out of control, but it was never her intention for things to get this bad. ntm its repeated over and over in this game how badly monika wants to die. she's hanging on by a thread, keeping on only because she wants to be with us, to be in contact with reality. this leads to really unfortunate circumstances but i really strongly believe everything in the text alludes to the fact she did Not want things to get this bad

ACT 3 INTRO:

imo this is all the proof needed to show that she really had no intention of ‘killing’ sayori and yuri. things spiraled out of control far beyond what she was capable of handling. 

her goals with making sayori more depressed and yuri more obsessive were, in here words “to just try to make them as unlikable as possible”. she didnt want her friends to brutally die!! she loved them q_q i feel like a lot of people really dont look at this specific part of what she says and take it to heart. its very telling for her character and important for understanding what she does and why she does it

ok so whats important here, is monika is essentially using us, the player, as a mirror in act 3? the things she says i believe, very strongly show her sense of uncertainty in her actions, and her fears of what if she could have done something else??

"even though you could have saved her, its technically not your fault she killed herself" reads SO much to me like shes trying to comfort herself with this, she doesnt want it to be her fault. nothings real, sayori's a character in a game. but she wishes so badly they could have just been normal girls living together.

OK SO LIKE. this is actual proof of Why she does everything she does. she's scared if she reaches out and tells us she's trapped in a game, we'll stop playing, we'll kill her. she tinkers with the game, trying to make herself look the best, trying to make us choose her, and nothing works. and this leads to her becoming frustrated and scared, and screwing with the game more and more desperately trying to do anything to save herself.

if you recall, in act 2, she gives you a poem which bluescreen the computer. this was actually an attempt she makes to escape the game q_q she never wanted to kill yuri, she never wanted things to escalate like that. she wanted to get out but she had no idea how to program her way out of the game, resulting in everything crumbling around her, and her friends dying.

my own route

hang on this one genuinely makes me so upset.

it very much relates back to how in the conversation about sayori's suicide, she's still clearly thinking about how things could be Different. shes thinking about how they could be normal. "I may not have needed to take such drastic measures to be with you. Maybe the rest of the club would still be around..." , and then immediately trying to convince herself it doesnt matter, and that she doesnt care.

its so so obvious shes hurting and she misses her friends. the additional "i really dont (miss them)" at the end really shows that shes desperately trying to convince herself that it was worth it, that she did everything she should have, and her friends dont matter. but they clearly do matter to her. she loved them (she couldnt even delete them if u recall)

also another important part about this monologue, a lot of people say she killed the other girls out of jealousy, but this shows thats not true??

"I think I would end up forcing you onto my route anyway." "It has less to do with me not having a route, and more to do with me knowing that nothing is real."

this wasnt because shes 'in love' with us. she wanted to be close to something real, something tangible. she's clinging onto us, the player character, like someone lost at sea with a piece of driftwood, doing everything she can to stay afloat

ok this isnt on the surface level as important as the other ones, but literally look at how she talks about this memory.. she misses them so much and talking about this memory she clearly cherishes brings her so much joy. she doesnt belittle any of them, she doesnt talk down on them, she’s just reliving this memory because it makes her happy
