Enhypen Energy Check
What’s been up with them lately?
9/05/25
Tumblr media
*Disclaimer just entertainments purposes. This reading base on their current energy *
Jay
( Page of Swords, Knight of Swords, The Fool, Four of Pentacles)
Jay’s in a restless, curious mood — his mind’s buzzing with ideas, and he’s itching to jump into something new or spontaneous (The Fool). He’s probably bouncing between thoughts, wanting to charge ahead and take risks… but part of him is clinging to his comfort zone or being cautious with his energy or money ,not quite ready to fully let go (Four of Pentacles). Vibe: “I’m ready for an adventure! …Okay, but maybe I should play it safe… or should I just go for it?”
Jake
(The Tower, Four of Swords (rx), Two of Wands (rx), Six of Cups)
Something unexpected or intense has rocked his life recently, and Four of Swords reversed shows he’s trying to rest but maybe struggling to fully relax or switch off. He’s feeling uncertain about what direction to take next, so he’s been leaning on familiar comforts or old friendships (Six of Cups) to ground himself. Vibe: “Trying to chill, figure things out, and maybe heal a little through old comforts.”
Sunghoon
( Eight of Swords (horizontal), Strength (rx), Ace of Cups, Knight of Wands)
Sunghoon’s dealing with some mental or emotional blockages, feeling a bit stuck or overwhelmed. His usual confidence might feel a bit shaky right now ,there’s a sense of needing to regain inner strength. But emotionally, there’s a soft, open side coming through (Ace of Cups), and the Knight of Wands says he’s still got bursts of energy and passion when something excites him —his heart’s opening up — he might be feeling more playful, romantic, or inspired lately, ready to go after what excites him. — even if it’s a little uneven. Vibe: “I’m in my head a lot right now, but I’m pushing through… just trying to figure things out.”
Jungwon
( Temperance, Nine of Swords, King of Cups, Queen of Cups)
He’s working hard to stay balanced and patient, even though he’s been feeling stressed or anxious under the surface. Despite that, he’s holding a lot of emotional maturity and care for others (King + Queen of Cups), probably being the calm and steady one for people around him. Vibe: “Trying to keep calm and steady, but there’s definitely a lot on my mind.”
Sunoo
(Knight of Cups, Hierophant, Queen of Cups, Strength)
Sunoo’s in a soft, romantic, thoughtful mood — maybe thinking about love, creativity, or just wanting to spread good vibes. He’s reflecting on his values or what really matters to him and staying emotionally grounded. There’s also this quiet inner strength showing, like even when things get tough, he’s quietly strong than people may realize. It’s like : “I’m following my heart and keeping it gentle, but don’t underestimate my strength.”
Ni-ki
( Page of Cups, Wheel of Fortune (rx), Lovers, Six of Pentacles)
He’s in a playful, curious mood, but life’s been throwing him a few unexpected twists or delays. Relationships and connections are on his mind (Lovers), and Six of Pentacles shows he’s figuring out how to keep things fair and balanced in his give-and-take with people. Vibe: “Rolling with life’s ups and downs while figuring out my relationships.”
Heeseung
(The Magician, Ten of Cups, Judgment, Ten of Swords (side ways)
He’s in a pretty strong, confident , creative space (Magician), surrounded by good vibes and people who make him happy (Ten of Cups). At the same time, he’s going through some big inner reflection or realizations — maybe thinking about how far he’s come or what’s next. There’s still a bit of mental or emotional exhaustion hanging around (Ten of Swords side ways), but he’s working through it.
It’s like : “I’m doing well, feeling grateful, but man… it’s been a journey.”

had a very "so philadelphia's not pennsylvania?" conversation yesterday with my 65 year old boss yesterday because he doesn't understand time zones. he was asking what time is it in canada and i said "well it depends which region of canada, it's the same system as the u.s." and then he said "no because timezones run horizontal." and then i said "no they definitely do not run horizontal. if you're in canada just north of washington, you will be in the same time zone as washington." then he says, "are we [in new york] in the same time zone as washington?" goodbye.

my coworker, currently driving us through miserable traffic, apparently unprompted and in a very warm, genuine tone: .....how ya doing over there?
me, crumbling instantly: ...real bad :(

Batboy is back baby!
First | Previous | Next
(Back to the regularly scheduled idiots)
Life was not quite back to normal. Danny's lack of wings meant he didn't hang from the ceiling anymore. He also started eating less, he wasn't as much of a fiend for fruits anymore. The white fur collar he had started shedding until there was only a thin layer left.
Danny slept most of the day only moving to new spots occasionally. He would choose the most inconvenient spots as well. Like the roof.
One such day Danny was sleeping soundly in the midday sun when a portal opened behind him. A hand grabbed Danny by the ankle back onto the Ghost Zone. He only managed a single yelp before he was face to face with Clockwork.
"What part of come back do you not understand?" He scolded holding the boy in the palm of his hand.
Danny rolled over in the icy blue hand and sighed. He didn't bother looking up at "Kronos" in his titan form. He knew that it meant that his mentor was in a very bad mood.
"Now look at you. You have bearly staved off going into stasis. You are not fully formed yet young man and can't survive in the physical realm without an energy source. What have you been feeding on other than your own energy reserves?!" He lectured before another voice cut in.
"Go easy on him my love. Let me." Nocturne soothed taking Danny into his hands.
Danny was thankful for a moment before realizing that Nocturne's head was that of a ram which meant he was also mad.
Its very easy to read the emotions of god-level entities. The more imposing and non-humanoid the worse they feel.
"Daniel...what did I tell you to do late time we spoke?" Nocturne's red eyes narrowed, and his horizontal pupils shrank.
Danny knew this was a trap.
"Speak boy." Nocturne ordered.
"To return-"
"To return to the realms!" Nocturne bleated "And yet you stubbornly remained. Now look, you are practically wilting away! You are still a millennia too young to be this reckless. I should ban you from the physical realm. Putting you in a dream bubble for a century would teach you a lesson."
Danny knew that this was a bluff. Nocturne was a huge softie and never went through with a punishment. Clockwork on the other hand never made false promises.
" No, my Lamb. We shouldn't. Not yet at least." Clockwork sighed "For now we should concern ourselves with helping him recover."
Danny sighed with relief as the Titans let him go for now.
He had to leave a note for Dick that he would be at his homeworld for a few days. Clockwork also left a note to assure Dick that Danny was in good hands and is also being grounded.
Recovery by ghost standards was similar to humans.
Ambient ectoplasm could heal with enough time but it's by no means fast. It would take years for Danny to get back to his old self. When Danny first came back after being torn open the recovery was painfully slow without proper care. If Clockwork hadn't stepped in then Danny would still be in that state.
The first step is food. Despite what you'd think ghosts eat. They all have to eat something to survive, but they all just have their favorite foods.
Nocturne was a desire eater.
Clockwork by nature ate everything
Danny himself is a fear eater.
Fear eaters are the most common among ghosts.
But these are abstract foods.
Physical foods also exist. Ghosts cultivate foods of their own.
Danny's favorites are a bowl of Ice Scream with Ambrosia chunks, neck-tarine lemonade, the devil's eggs, and candied meal worms.
It sure beats eating honeyed dates, bread, and cheese with Clockwork and Nocturne. But a growing ghost has to eat alter food to grow in power.
So Danny can only eat offerings until further notice.
Clockwork also sent Danny to do tasks and training.
"You need to steel your mind. Your perception of yourself is too flimsy. The more you believe yourself to be small or a child the more your body becomes so. The more negative emotions you direct at yourself the worst you will appear." Clockwork droned on and on showing Danny complex diagrams about how to properly use his powers.
The time ghost had been firm about not teaching Danny any new abilities until he got this down.
Danny was not enthusiastic. He bearly made it though the first lecture on this.
"Give him a break. How about letting me show him some examples?" Nocturne said entering the room with a tray of tea. "Come with me. We'll go to the menagerie."
For the next few days, Danny was given a crash course on biology and mental conditioning. He practiced changing his form as quickly as possible and accurately copying. Nocturne was strict but fair. Nocturne was actually one of the best when it came to shifting.
On the last day, Danny hugged his mentors goodbye for now. Clockwork made sure to fasten a talisman around Danny's neck that would keep them in contact and help Danny control his power better so he didn't lose too much energy. Nocturne handed Danny a bag of golden Ambrosia for the road.
And like that, Danny was back home. Recharged and ready.
****
Dick tried not to be worried about Danny. He understood that since he wasn't entirely human he had to recover differently. But you can't blame him for feeling anxious.
Going missing once was problem enough.
When he returned to the apartment the first thing to greet him when he opened the door was something fuzzy flying at his face.
That fuzzy thing was a squeaking sliver bat that had somehow go in the house.
Dick peeled it off his face as the bat gleefully chirped at him.
"How did you get in little guy? Did Damian hide you in here?" Dick said as the Bat climbed up his suit.
Suddenly a heavy weight pressed down on him as the albino bat turned into Danny. Dick toppled to the floor.
"Dad!! Look! I finally did it! I flew!" Danny said leaning over Dick and smiling from ear to ear. His blue eyes flashed green.
Dick was stunned silent as he took in the last few seconds.
Did Danny call him dad?

husband!joel miller x wife!reader, WC: 1.03k
TAGS: husband!joel, anniversary dinner, all the fluff, chubby!joel, marriage has caused joel to gain weight, soft!joel, no physical description is given of reader, reader uses an inhaler, joel is goofin, POV u become one with the couch, joel calls reader “sweetie,” joel jokingly asks if he’s fat, reader jokingly calls themself “delicate," fuck i love this man
Tumblr media
It’s officially been one year since you tied the knot, one whole year of living with your husband full-time. Joel had been fairly insistent that you lived separately until you got married, despite the fact that you spent more nights with him than without during your engagement. You never really minded, he had a mortgage to pay on his house but was still more than willing to help you with your rent until the day came.
One year later, and marriage had been good to Joel. His mental health and financial stability had improved, and he seemed overall a happier person. The only drawback seemed to be the effect it had on his waistline. It was only a drawback according to your brother-in-law Tommy; you love the way Joel’s belly had softened over the last twelve months.
No longer was he forgetting to eat breakfast, packing himself a half-assed lunch to take to his job sites, nor was he attempting to pass off three-day-old pizza as a full dinner. If you could go back in time ten years, tell your younger self you have a husband you love cooking for, you would vomit on your own shoes. Being who you are now though, it’s a joy to make him a meal, fulfilling to see how happy it makes him that you’ve ensured he eats well in the early mornings and has proper lunches to keep him strong until dinner. The way he relaxes on the couch with you after, pulling you on top of him to cuddle, the wonderful healthy squish of his tummy between you a reminder to you both that love is not all in the way one looks.
He had been self-conscious at first, when he stepped on the scale and saw the number had increased. You very quickly put that worry to bed, assuring Joel every day that he was still the sexiest man alive. You told him how sexy he was irritatingly regularly, and then he started to believe it. He started walking around the house in his PJ pants with his shirt off again, you begging him to flex, him obliging. Joel’s belly and the weight he gained were the most physical and personal reminders of how much you loved him.
To celebrate this first full year of your marriage, you made a fabulous meal so you could stay in for the night and enjoy it together. Pot roast and potatoes, enough rolls to choke a horse, two or three glasses of wine. Joel is doing the dishes, you lay on the couch watching him across the room. He glances back at you, smiling, and you wave with your fingers. The wine has certainly hit you; you’re not drunk by any stretch, but you’re definitely more comfortable horizontal. You close your eyes, listening to the sink run for a few minutes before the last dish clinks in the drying rack and the water stops.
“Wow. My wife made such an amazing dinner, and I’m so tired from doing those dishes. I think I’d like to sit and rest.” You can hear the dry playfulness in his voice, eyes still closed.
“Boy oh boy, that couch looks comfy. I think I’ll have a seat riiiiight here.” Your eyes fly open, hand covering your mouth as you cackle at the feeling of him sitting on your shins.
“Joel! No, c’mon! If you’re gonna sit on me, at least sit on my thighs. I’m so delicate.” Joel rolls his eyes, smiles as he scoots up.
“You’re right, this cushion is way more comfortable. I think I could fall asleep here, matterfact I just might.”
You reach for him, pinching his side playfully. He does sit on your thighs for a few minutes, arms stretched across the back of the couch, head tilted back and eyes closed. The muscles in your legs finally begin to feel like TV static, and despite the fact that you’ve sobered up considerably it’s still not a particularly pleasant sensation.
“Oh shit, baby my legs are falling asleep. Bit’s over, I gotta move ‘em.” Joel looks down at you, mouth open in mock-offense.
“Is my wife calling me fat? On our one-year wedding anniversary, of all days? How dare you, I cannot believe this.”
Still, he does get up; long enough to lay his entire body on top of yours. He nuzzles into your neck, his beard scratching your skin softly. He sighs deeply, squeezes you in a hug as you rest your hand on his back. And then he raspberries you.
You squeal, laughing wildly as he begins laying a barrage of kisses to your neck and face. You laugh so hard you start struggling to pull in a full breath, and Joel jumps up quickly to get your inhaler out of your purse. You’re still laughing, now coughing and wheezing at the absurdity of the situation. He shakes the little plastic container thoroughly before uncapping it and handing it to you, tugging you upright before you press the canister and inhale.
He rubs your back as you hold your breath, exhaling slowly with you. He presses a kiss to your temple, taking the inhaler back and replacing it in your purse. As he sits back down he pulls you into his lap, cradling you against himself.
“I’m sorry sweetie, I got a little carried away. You feel okay?”
“Yeah, I’m good. It wasn’t full-blown, I was just getting too wound up. Thank you for getting it, though.”
“Of course. Don’t want my wife taking a trip to the emergency room, especially not on our special day. Here, lemme—”
He shifts so he’s laying on his back, holding you on his chest as always. He continues rubbing your back, occasionally kissing the top of your head.
“Hey, husband?”
“Yes, wife?”
“That joke you made about me calling you fat, it wouldn’t matter to me at all if you actually were.”
“I know, sweetie.”
You rub Joel’s shoulder gently with your thumb, feeling yourself growing tired from the steady rhythm and pressure of his hand on your back.
“You can go to sleep, we’ll be okay out here tonight.” You hum.
“Joel?”
“Yeah, sweetie?”
“I love you.”
“I love you, too.”

"When Your Boyfriend's Also Your Best Friend"
Chapter 3: Minecraft and Karaoke and Pillow Fights and Anime
AO3 link
They made a list of things to do for the night. A mental one, at least; a set of suggestions that they called back and forth to each other as they flew back to the Doorman apartment.
Watching anime was the given.
N suggested they play Minecraft.
Uzi suggested they listen to all their favorite songs and maybe have a karaoke party.
They landed at the door, and Uzi marched in, pulling N by the hand behind her. “Hi, Mom,” she called into the living room, where Nori— in her recently rebuilt body— was reading with headphones on, reclining horizontally on the couch with her legs slung over the armrest. N had theorized that was where Uzi had gotten her bad posture.
“Hey, babe,” Nori said back, lifting a hand to wave without looking away from her book. As Uzi and N headed for Uzi’s room, she glanced at them over the top of her book, then rolled her eyes and continued reading.
“Kay, what’s first on the list, dude?” Uzi hopped up onto her bed and immediately swung herself into a criss-cross-applesauce position.
N tapped his fingers together for a few seconds. “How much do you think the finale is going to, uh… ‘damage’ me?”
Uzi clapped her hands once, loudly. “You’re gonna cry. I know it.”
“Okay!” He laughed nervously. “Minecraft? On creative mode?”
Uzi pretended to pout. “Dang it, no death by zombies or creepers. Okay, boot it up!”
N set to doing just that, while Uzi rolled her desk chair up next to her bed to better face the TV. N let himself drop backwards into it as he handed Uzi one of the controllers. She jumped back onto her bed, snickering. “I’m gonna build a tower to the sun. What’re you gonna do?”
He studied the load-up screen, a thoughtful look on his face. “I think I’m gonna build a cabin out of glowstone. It’s gonna be so pretty at night!”
Uzi stuck out a foot and patted him on the head with it a couple times. “You do that. Can’t wait to see it.”
The game opened, and the soft background piano music began to play. Uzi watched the instant smile of relaxation cross her boyfriend’s face as it did, and that warmed her.
N set to creating his glowing little cabin, with a foundation and everything, while Uzi began stacking block after block on top of each other until her side of the screen was nothing but a high-up, distant view of the whole rest of the map. As N continued to build his cabin, she could’ve sworn she saw it glowing in the distance below as the in-game sun set.
After a minute or so, Uzi got bored with her tower and made her character jump off, cackling to herself as she watched its POV fall. It hit the ground with no consequences, and she sighed.
N got so preoccupied with building his cabin, arranging the windows in convenient places, and making a glass roof, that he didn’t notice the farm animals rapidly getting spawned into the main part of his house. Uzi did her best to stifle her giggles, but N was too zoned into his methodical work to wonder what she was laughing about.
It wasn’t until she created a door to lock all the animals inside and ran off that he finally took his character back downstairs to find the place completely overrun by square chickens, pigs, sheep, and cows.
He shrieked. “What? Where did all these—?!”
And Uzi lost it. Doubled over laughing, dropping her controller onto the bed beside her, wheezing for air. N spun in his chair and tried to shoot her a look, but her hysterical joy was contagious. He couldn’t help smiling, even seeing her revel in the results of her prank on him.
He got her back five minutes later by spawning at least five hundred chickens on top of her tower, planting a bomb at the base of it, then blowing it up and making it rain chickens for thirty seconds straight.
Both of them had the giggles after that.
They meddled around in the digital world for another twenty minutes or so, then decided to switch to something else.
One of Uzi’s missions over the past couple weeks had been to introduce N to as many songs as she possibly could. When she’d asked him what his favorite song was, or at least his favorite genre, he’d more or less given her a blank stare. He hadn’t known. He’d all but never actually listened to music for fun.
So Uzi had shown him a ton of songs that she liked, then she’d shown him other kinds of songs that might’ve been more his style. So far he’d loved her favorites, and especially loved the anime theme songs he’d heard. (It helped that they could automatically translate the Japanese.)
He’d also taken a liking to a certain style of country music, the fun ones that had dances created to them, and although Uzi was initially horrified at this, she’d brushed it off with a sort of satisfaction that he was getting to discover more things that he liked for himself.
They listened and jammed out to a bunch of their favorite songs, then did the same thing with the same songs in nightcore. Khan poked his head in during a particularly loud and off-key match of Don’t Stop Believin’, and Uzi used the solver to throw a pillow at him.
During a brief famine of finding good songs to play, N found a drawer labeled with something about baby cows and started looking through Uzi’s collection of photos. Uzi caught him, and then the two spent the next few minutes gushing over the pictures together.
The drawer was closed, and Uzi flopped back onto her bed, staring up at her re-crafted ceiling conspiracy board. Amidst all the ramblings and morbid sketches were N’s drawings of the two of them, cards he’d written to her, and random doodles of dogs. They were like bright little stars amidst the dark night sky she’d plastered up there.
She rolled to the side of the bed and peered down. N had sprawled himself out across the floor and was also looking at the ceiling, though his eyes darted to meet hers when he realized she was in sight.
He waved lazily. “Hi.”
Uzi took her pillow and dropped it on his face.
N made a muffled noise, then sat up and tossed it back at her. She blocked it with another pillow, snickering, then threw them both back down at him.
“It’s on,” he challenged, jumping back to his feet, at the same time she stood up on her bed, bundling up her blanket as another fake pillow.
Their pillow “battle” was rather anticlimactic; Uzi tossed the blanket over N’s head and he tripped over it and wiped out. When she jumped down to try and help him up, he scooped her up and dumped her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, then wrapped her up in her blanket like a burrito and set her back on her bed.
“Cheater,” she said, muffled by the blanket.
He patted her head, grinning too cutely for her to have any genuine annoyance at all.
“Don’t laugh, this is gonna be you in an hour when we finish season 1.”
“Oh, boy.”
That was the cue for them to finally pull up whatever sketchy website Uzi had been watching all her anime on to find the last few episodes of said season. The last good season, Uzi kept insisting.
Sure enough, for the last episode, N wound up huddled up in the blanket himself, staring weepy-eyed and in horror at the screen, all while Uzi held onto his arm, half-comforting him and half-taking comfort herself.
The credits rolled as the final scene panned out, and he leaned back until he was staring with the same shell-shocked expression at the ceiling.
“Is she alive?” he squeaked. “How is he alive. I thought they all died—!”
“I’ll explain more of that to you sometime,” Uzi insisted. “It gets a little confusing.”
He sat up again and flexed his fingers, taking a moment to check the time in his own visor. 12:14 A.M.
Maybe it was time to get some rest. They’d all been programmed with a day/night, active/recharge type schedule to match humans, which unfortunately meant they couldn’t just stay up all night goofing off.
N poked Uzi in the shoulder. “I think it’s bedtime.”
“Aww… but…” Uzi grabbed onto his arm and keeled over. “But fun.”
He cupped her face. “But recharge.”
As if on cue, a loud knock on the door startled them both as footsteps walked by in the hall outside. “Listen to the idiot, Uzi,” Nori’s voice yelled. “Go to sleep, or I’ll knock you both out myself.”
“Uuuuuggghhhhhh.” Uzi sat up again, running a couple fingers through her hair. “Fine. Whatever. Dumb recharge. Fine.”
“There we go!” N took her by the face again and kissed her on the forehead. “Goodnight. I love you.”
She melted into the embrace, smiling deliriously. “I love you.”
He climbed off the bed and took to his usual hanging-upside-down-from-the-ceiling-by-his-tail-like-a-vampire-bat sleeping position, extending his wings only to fold them around himself like a shield blanket thing. His face was barely visible through a sliver between some of his wing blades, but Uzi could see he’d already closed his eyes.
She gave him one last soft look, then lay down and drifted off herself, contented.

next up, V joins the party and everyone goes on a spontaneous treasure hunt adventure thing

Why Wayne was so insistent on seeing the Nutcracker ballet, Eddie had no idea. They had never gone to see it before, tickets for it usually being too expensive. It was usually for rich, fancy people to see every year. Him and Wayne were decidedly not that.
However, since he started dating Steve, he had more interest in ballet. Well, more interest in watching Steve dance ballet than anyone else. He was always so majestic when he danced.
He became more suspicious when they were directed towards their seats, and noticed Robin was there in a seat right next to them. Eddie gave her a look, wanting to know why she was here too.
He opened his mouth to ask, but the lights dimmed immediately after he sat down. He didn’t even have time to look at the program. Luckily, he’s at least familiar with the story.
The opening sequence of Clara’s party and getting the nutcracker was nice. Ballet was peaceful to watch, everyone in the audience captivated by the twists and turns the ballerinas did so daintily and graceful.
The moment the Nutcracker dancer appeared on stage with a comically large nutcracker head on, Eddie knew something was up. The physique of the man seemed a little too familiar. Almost like he had mapped out that entire body with his hands before. That he spent hours tracing that combination of moles splattered on the man’s neck with his tongue.
The man took the large nutcracker head off, revealing himself to Clara and the audience. Eddie let out a soft gasp as he realized Steve was the nutcracker and was playing a main role in the ballet!
He looked amazing, decked out in a nutcracker suit jacket with gold lines going across horizontally, the dark blue contrasting against his skin. His hair swooshed back perfectly, flopping gently down. The tights were white, and leaving absolutely nothing to the imagination. Eddie was practically drooling in his seat.
Steve started dancing, beginning his battle with the rat king.
Steve moved gracefully, he leaped across the stage, twisting the sword around with his fingers. Eddie was drawn in by his dexterity, and the way he was gripping the sword with his nimble fingers.
Steve came in and out of the wings, surprising the rat king and winning the battle. Eddie had the urge to jolt up and give him a standing ovation. Steve’s performance definitely deserved it. He clapped as loud as he could when the music stopped, Steve’s part as the nutcracker over.
Eddie tried not to zone out through the rest of the songs that didn’t include Steve. He had to admit he liked how ballet could tell a story without words, but all he really wanted was to see Steve dance again. He made the music feel more alive, hitting all the right points in the music, making the story flow.
Steve popped in and out a few more times but didn’t dance full numbers. Until act two. The Waltz of the Flowers. Steve came out to support the main girl, his hands tracing her waist as she spun between his arms. He lifted her across the stage, lifting her up in poses multiple times. Eddie’s mouth went dry, thinking how he was basically skin and bones and that Steve could probably lift him up, multiple times. He squirmed in his seat, not knowing what to do with the newfound revelation of the sheer strength Steve had. He knew he wanted to explore that.
Suddenly, everyone ran off stage except for Steve, starting the next section solo. He leaped across the stage, accentuating the lines of his body in every move. The back of his costume dipped a little lower, Eddie getting the perfect view of Steve’s back muscles contorting with his body, the barely visible sheen of sweat against his back that made Eddie want to lick, down, down. Steve didn’t even look tired as he was leaping across the stage, his dancing lively and fluid. He jumped up powerfully, his thighs flexing, but landing softly on his feet. Eddie had never seen anything like it. Steve had such control over his body, his movements so contrasted, and he made it look so easy.
Steve’s face was flushed but he didn’t slow. Eddie was mesmerized, he could watch Steve dance forever. Well, as long as he got some kisses and cuddles in between that of course. It felt like Steve’s solo ended way too fast, Eddie trying to drink up every last motion Steve made.
Steve came to the front to bow, and Eddie didn’t care what anyone else thought, he jumped up and clapped as loud as he could in a standing ovation. He threw in a few whoops for good measure. He was so proud of Steve, he was amazing and wonderful to watch. And seriously, he looked delicious in those tights. Steve beamed in the general direction Eddie was, undoubtedly having heard him, but probably couldn’t see him exactly with all the bright lights on him.
Steve left through the wings, only coming out again for a small part in the finale and it was over. Eddie was brimming with fondness, Steve had done it. He landed such a big role all on his own, and danced through it beautifully. Eddie still couldn’t believe the gracefulness and power Steve had when dancing, and he would never forget. With the final bow, everyone on their feet giving standing ovations, and Eddie raced to find somewhere close to backstage, not thinking of his Uncle or Robin, only Steve. He wanted to catch Steve as soon as he was done changing or gathering his things before leaving. He briefly wondered if he would leave with his costume on. Eddie’s brain short circuited at the thought.
On his way over, there was a booth selling flowers with only a few people in line, mostly everyone still inside clapping. He paid for a bouquet of flowers, and waited for Steve, leaning against a wall close to the hallway the dancers were coming out of. The minutes ticked by, Eddie becoming more impatient.
“Surprise!” He heard a familiar voice yell. Steve had come out in all his costume white tights glory.
Eddie launched himself at Steve, wrapping his arms around neck, squeezing hard.
“You did amazing baby! So stunning, I was entranced the whole time.” Eddie kissed his temple, trailing them down his hairline, behind his ear.
“Thanks, Eds.” Steve said softly.
“These are for you.” Eddie stepped back, brandishing the bouquet of flowers he just purchased. They were a mix of red, orange, and white roses.
“Eddie! You shouldn’t have.” Steve grabbed them with his slender fingers, smiling down at them. He had never received flowers at a performance before.
“I would’ve gotten them earlier if I had known my talented, dazzling, star-stunning boyfriend was going to be the nutcracker in the biggest ballet of the year!” Eddie flailed, waving his hands around.
“I know, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you, but I wanted to surprise you. I thought it would be nice to get your reaction after the show.” Steve shrugged one shoulder up, his lips quirked up teasingly.
Eddie stepped closer, glancing Steve up and down. “Oh, I’m planning to show you exactly how much I enjoyed the show.” He said in a low voice, deep and sultry.
“I don’t doubt it.” Steve grinned, pressing his chest into Eddie, bringing his hands up to cup Eddie’s face, and drawing him into a long kiss.

Radicalism 100: Get Started from 0 or, How the Hell Do I Get into Organizing as a Newbie?
I spend a lot of time talking about social change stuff. I feel like a lot of it might not be accessible unless you’re already one who sees yourself as a changemaker. Let’s change that. Let’s talk about how to prefigure the world you want to see, even if you don’t have any experience.
Before I do that though, I want to do some quick framing. I am coming from the place of someone who has some relatively specific foundational values that I prioritize and act from. I believe in horizontalism, mutual aid, solidarity, autonomy, joy, love, and transformative justice. I don’t brandish human nature as a weapon against better futures. If you have a view of people and or society that is purely of negation, then we probably won’t see eye-to-eye. If you think that domination and bootlicking is also necessary, then we definitely won’t see eye-to-eye. Hopefully, you’re curious or open to working towards egalitarian goals through egalitarian means. If you are, this might be useful to you.
How Social Change Happens
There is a lot of talk about social change and a lot of different opinions on how that change occurs. A useful framework to work from is one that imma remix from Joanna Macy.
Harm Reduction and Stalling → This is where giving, charity, and advocacy work live. Think of the survival programs that the Black Panthers did. These are good things, and they provide immediate benefits to folks. However, it’s not radical, as far as the meaning of the word goes. So, it’s great (and necessary!) to organize a mutual aid group that does food distro. What that doesn’t do is address why your group has to do that in the first place. This is something that ideally allows you to survive as you prepare to make bigger changes.
Systems change and Social Revolution → This is where the good shit happens. It is understanding the terrain you fight upon, what you’re fighting against, and finding the weak points to create and widen spaces of autonomy and liberation. This is where we decide how we act within the systems, how we change those systems through collective action, and how we build counter-systems to delegitimize the oppressive ones.
Rebuilding Mental Models → To create a new world, we have to become different people. I don’t mean that in an inactive way—through the practice of harm reduction and fighting the system, we realize our own power and become more capable of creating the world that we want. As we reconnect with reality, and illegitimate the current hegemony, we become more able to see the path ahead. The great and terrible thing is that we have to walk that path.
These are the three buckets that encompass our work ahead. Maybe a better way to think of them would not be as distinct buckets, but as spaces or zones of activity with permeable edges, where specific actions are occupying multiple buckets at a time, and where we travel from zone to zone, bringing information from previous legs of the journey. Stated differently, doing harm reduction might lead you to changing your mental models which might lead you to working towards systems change which might change your mental models which might improve your harm reduction efforts and so on and so on.
With that (admittedly open-ended) theory of change established, let’s get into some practical things you can do to get started. Again, this is built for if you’re not sure of where to begin. This will, hopefully, allow you to get started from 0 (which in my mind is you saying something to the effect of “damn, I know the world is cooked. What the hell do I do?”). Maybe you’ve heard people answer that inquiry with “Organize!”, which isn’t very useful. So let’s talk about that: how to start organizing and be successful when you don’t have the background or confidence yet.
Step 0: Read!
I am a big proponent of praxis (practice informed by theory) over theory or practice alone. Just reading doesn’t change the world, and just doing stuff may lead to some happy accidents. If you have to pick one, do stuff, I guess? But, we don’t have to do that. We can read, do stuff, review the successes and failures, and repeat. In order to not trap you in one mode or another, I’ve recommended a couple of things that should give you a good foundation for more readings and more actions.
Why We Should Democratize Everything
Radical Municipalism | The Anarchist Library
Modules - Economics for Emancipation (economics4emancipation.net)
Once you read these, you’ll be able to know that the world can look different than it does right now, and that there are tangible things that you can do to make that happen.
Step 1: Figure out Your Interest(s)
The next move is to understand what you’re interested in. It can be easy to feel like you have to participate in a certain kind of fight… but the reality is that if you pick an area that you already have an affinity for, you’ll be able to engage with it more sustainably. And hopefully, if you get some wins, you’ll be able to engage and support other important sites of struggle. For me, broadly speaking, my goal is to create solarpunk autonomous zones IRL, in the heart of the empire (the so-called United States). For my interests, the main areas of affinity + need within the solarpunk umbrella are:
Building Intentional Communities (like communes and ecovillages and shit)
Radical Urbanism (Tactical Urbanist projects, Tenants organizing, occupations)
Creative Care and Joy (Mutual aid, herbalism, medicine, etc)
Community Resiliency Training (CERT, Self-defense, Wildtending, Urban Foraging)
If that seems broad, blame it on the ADHD. I put time into each of these areas to try and build towards my solarpunk goals at the local level. You don’t have to be as eclectic as I am, but think about the things that get you excited, and go after those things.
Step 2: Get a Lay of the Land (find folks and people who are doing the cool stuff)
Once you’ve searched your soul and excavated some insight, you can begin your fun. Try and find people in your area who are into the stuff you’re into. If you like the idea of mutual aid, find a local food not bombs chapter (and encourage them to work towards system change!). If you like environmental stuff, look for groups that you feel like embodying the values you're developing. Some good ways to do this are:
Finding social medias. I like to find the most popular version for the thing I’m trying to do and excavate other groups from that. For example, I do some organizing work with an Indigenous education group here, and since it’s a tight-knit organizing community, I can use their IG to find other orgs. This also works well for in-person stuff.
Pull up to events. Try to show up to marches, protests (if you’re ready), and popular education events and look for folks representing the ideas you’re interested in. Folks tend to have flags, pins, and outfits at those sorts of things that let you know where they stand. I’d specifically look for Libertarian Socialist groups, Anarchist groups, and communalist groups. I’d also look into solidarity networks.
Step 3: Start working with folks!
Once you find some folks, start working with them if you like the vibe! You’d be surprised at how much you can learn. I moved about a year ago, and I learned so much by diving into the organizing community. Imma be moving again, and now I can carry those learnings forward into my new communities. Ideally, you’re getting involved in actions, doing study groups, and growing your confidence.
Step 4: Do an analysis of your place!
As you get more comfortable and you start to understand where you’re at, you can start working more intentionally toward system change. This is something that folks don’t do nearly enough, but if you can pull it off well, it’ll be well worth the time. The goal is to understand the challenges and opportunities present in your place. This is very much a whole area to explore, but you can start by looking into Asset-based community development and Community-based participatory research to create a guide of sorts for your community to follow. This is an area that I’m currently working on, and it helps contextualize your actions.
Step 5: Dive deep!
At this point, you might be ready for bigger actions or more capacity building. You might even be ready to steward a campaign. Just know, this is work that doesn’t really have an end; we can always strive for more. If you take nothing else away, know these two things:
Everyone has the capability to steward in a new future.
Surround yourself with genuine community to keep you going.
If you can approach this work with confidence and community, you’ll be able to weather any storm.

Quick warning: there are images of arachnids towards the end of this post.
Something about Subnautica’s biology has me really really normal about it as of late. In anticipation for the release of Subnautica 2 I’ve decided I’ll dedicate a portion of my time every day to studying the physical anatomy of Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero’s more interesting fauna because they’re interesting and weird!!!!!! Love them.
Tumblr media
My opening thoughts are the Chelicerate. It’s classified as a Leviathan-Class creature in Sector Zero of 4546B. There are two types of Chelicerate. The main one you meet is the red one pictured above. Though, if you go beyond the natural limits of the map, you will encounter the Void Chelicerate at the edge of the sector.
Tumblr media
General assumption and geographical analysis leads one to the conclusion that Sector Zero of 4546B and the main zone we play in in the original Subnautica game are separated by a large expanse of ecologically dead waters. The only two creatures we know to be capable of surviving in these waters are Void Chelicerates and adult Ghost Leviathans, a species from the prior game that I’ll discuss at a later date.
Now, the Chelicerate is a large predator, albeit on the smaller scale for Leviathan-Class fauna, that uses its four mandibles to trap prey and keep it from escaping. The game’s official databank entry states the following:
“ These large mandibles of the chelicerate are composed of a bony material that crushes and saws through bones and muscle with ease. The mandibles open up while the backward facing teeth dig into flesh and prevent easy escape. The prey is pulled towards the chelicerate's mouth and devoured.”
As we can see, the chelicerate hunts aggressively with a “trap and catch” method of hunting we see in real-world marine fauna like the monkfish, which uses it’s mouth to trap and hold prey. This hunting method is brutally effective when scaled up to a creature the size of a chelicerate, especially considering their lightweight, maneuverable build. This also allows the chelicerate to grasp objects, like Robin’s submersible vehicles, and damage them.
Rather uniquely on 4546B, the chelicerate sports a segmented exoskeleten with flexible plates that allow it to maneuver and move with agility through the water while also protecting it from the pressure of 4546B’s gravity. Very cool!
> “The chelicerate’s body is made of a thick segmented exoskeleton. The exoskeleton grows in flexible overlapping plates. This provides protection from the atmospheric pressure while giving the chelicerate the maneuverability to easily pursue prey.”
I think the thing I liked most about the chelicerate when viewing its in-game model and animations was that it moved like a whale, with horizontal tail fins that pushed it through the water with an up and down movement of its tail rather than a side-to-side movement we’d see in modern fish and shark species. This really feels right for them especially considering the way the plates of the exoskeleton overlap and lay on each other which would (reasonable assumption) make much side-to-side movement restricted and awkward to pull off.
Subnautica is infamously good at drawing inspiration from real-world animals and applying design aspects of those animals to these alien creatures in a way that feels familiar but unique and fascinating in its’ own way. The chelicerate is no exception. Named after the subphylum “chelicerata” they, fittingly, resemble species under the chelicerata subphylum like horseshoe crabs or eurypterid. Their four-pronged mandible-jaws remind me of the camel spider, as well. See here:
Tumblr media
As we can see the solifugae also have these four, claw-like mandible structures. Fascinating!
The chelicerate seems like a fusion between the eurypterid and camel spider if it was dunked underwater for a few million years and turned big and red. I really love this creature and I think about it often.
This was my attempt at wordvomit analysis of the chelicerate… yay.

Analysing Valentino Rossi's handwriting
Tumblr media
okay so to preface this so I don't have to explain myself if I ever get anything wrong:
1. I have lost most of my knowledge regarding graphology after I got deep into it about 4 years ago. I rediscovered it about 3 days ago. Moreover, I'm just a girl on the internet, not a scholar. Some things might be inaccurate.
2. Graphology is considered a pseudo-science. There is no empirical evidence backing up graphology; if it's more understandable that way, think of it as analyzing someone's birth charts.
3. I generally do not know the people whose handwriting I analyze. I nor know what Valentino Rossi is like in real life, and neither will I ever. This is for funsies <3 I just enjoy graphology.
4. An important, somewhat unspoken, rule of graphology is that it's imperative I keep aside my knowledge of what I've seen him act like in public and focus solely on what the page tells me.
5. ALSO. Our handwriting has fixed as well as unfixed traits. For example, your IQ is fixed, likewise, your aptitudes, temperament, and identity are all fixed. There are unfixed traits as well in our handwriting. They keep changing depending on the conditions. Your abilities, attitudes, moods, beliefs, motivational level, and physical conditions are unfixed traits. People's handwriting also changes depending on whether they are writing for themselves (eg. a personal note, journal) or for someone else (eg. a letter <- like the sample currently at hand !)
6. I will sound nerdy at times as I might quote some graphology experts or use their works verbatim from their books. I have tried to keep it as simple as possible but still, if anything is unclear/your opinions vary, asks are always open <3
*****Text in italics are random comments that shouldn't be included in any professional graphology analysis document but are there because this is a TUMBLR POST******
Now, the actual analysis
1. Initial Impression
This is a “normal” writing sample at first glance. Form quality doesn't reflect over-embellished or neglectful form. The writing is legible, which is expected considering it is a letter. The handwriting is slightly middle zone dominant(explanation in section 8.) indicating a bit of self-centredness and concern regarding day-to-day life. There are a lot of things crossed off which may show emotional distress at the time of writing the sample. I also noticed the large spacing between the lines at first glance and it generally shows fear of isolation(he was leaving Yamaha 💀) and distrust. There are also some arcades and garlands at the end of words(explanation in section 10). WEIRDASS LOWER ZONES.
But mainly, it's so… erratic; the baseline is erratic, the slant is mostly vertical but still erratic at times, and the way he crosses off so much stuff is an indicator of emotional distress.
2. Baseline
The baseline is the imaginary line running from left to right at the same level. It is on this imaginary line that letters rest on dividing upper and lower areas while moving forward to the right. Any movement horizontally along the baseline represents your reaction to experiences, living values, time demands, and learning. Right motion is to advance, expand, and progress and left motion is to revert, constrict, and regress. The baseline reveals 1. attitudes about reaching our goals, 2. the kind of mental energy we apply to our life situations, and 3. our general moods.
Tumblr media
Initial lines in the sample display a “Moody” baseline or an erratic baseline(some authors call it a “sinuous” baseline). When a baseline has a number of ups and downs, or ascending and descending it is called erratic. Of course, it shows the moodiness of the person. They may laugh and cry easily and have lots of ups and downs in their lives. They are unbalanced as the handwriting shows. This is not to be confused with an incoherent, aka, ”sociopathic baseline”.
HOWEVER, the end of the sample follows a stable baseline which is an indicator that the person shows controlled/consistent behaviour to the outward world. A straight line is a straightforward path and its meaning is a firm, unchanging foundation. Its positive qualities are straightness, discipline, willpower, constancy of purpose, and responsibility. Its negative aspect impact is inflexibility.
I wish I had more samples to confirm my thoughts and form a consistent opinion because I cannot conclude a single baseline pattern followed by the person. Language and cultural upbringing differences also don’t help.
3. Slant
A handwriting can be a. just vertical; it stands straight on a baseline as though at 90 degrees. b. inclined to the right or c. inclined to the left. Further, it can be lightly inclined, very inclined, or acutely reclined. In general:
Tumblr media
Leftward slant writers are emotionally cold and defiant, self-centered, and/or selfish. Overly leftward can be very emotionally sick. Extremely left slants often indicate past trauma and/or inability to move on/ recover.
Upright/vertical slant reveals emotional reserve, suppression, and self-reliance. The person acts not with his/her heart but with the head. The person can be cool under pressure.
One’s right slant indicates compliance with people. The person is emotionally expressive. The person will act according to emotions. Here pressure levels reveal how intense the emotions are expressed. Overly right slant writer cannot control his/her emotions.
Variable slants betray mostly an emotionally unstable person.
I had a terrible time with this one because even when I superimposed a chart on it, it was still unclear which slant it follows. Rossi’s handwriting appears to go in all directions however it is seldom on the extreme ends(ie, acutely inclined to the right or acutely reclined to the left. Both of these are “abnormal” and rare.)
If we write with an unstable slant, we feel pulled in different directions. An unstable slant is a wobbling slant. At one moment the person is affectionate and at another moment he is aloof. The more unstable a wobble, the more unstable is the writer. The interpretation of the slant is based on the universal concept of ‘left versus right.’ Usually, people associate the left with the past and the right with the future. If the left and the right represent the past and the future, then the centre represents the present.
4. Size
Size simply refers to whether the writing is large or small. Of course, there are many categories in size, like large, overly large, medium, small, or overly small (microscopic). It is an unfixed trait. Because, depending upon the mood, people write sometimes small and at other times big. It also depends upon the paper on which they write.
Valentino’s handwriting again follows a somewhat irregular pattern when it comes to size. I say this because size changing over a few lines is completely normal but irregular size between words shows emotional instability.
According to Karen Amend et al, “variable letter sizes, that is, middle zone letters ranging in size from 1116th of an inch upwards, show a writer who is emotionally off-balance a good deal of the time. Too much caught up in his own feelings, he is likely to be self-centered, overly expressive, indecisive, and childish. Those around him often find him moody and immature, but not always without charm.”
(I do not agree with this description too much but this is all i could find regarding unstable size)
The letters enlargen in the middle of the sample, especially when he mentions someone by their name. If a certain word or name becomes suddenly bigger in comparison with other words in the same line, then we can conclude that the writer has invested some emotions either positive in the person or thing signified by that particular word that got enlarged. When we hold somebody or something in high esteem, then automatically that word gets enlarged in our writing. On the contrary, if we have less regard, and think less of the person, then the word automatically shrinks.
Tumblr media
5. Margin
Tumblr media
NARROW UPPER MARGIN
In short, it shows informality. If your handwriting leaves a very narrow margin on the top, it is an indication that you are informal with the person to whom you write. It shows informality and familiarity. Just because you are comfortable with the person, you start writing from the very beginning. (this does match with the contents of the sample at hand)
(Not much more to say really, the margins are wide on left and right side but it doesn't favor one side, which shows a balance/peace with their past as well future)
6. Speed
Speed refers to how fast or slow one writes. It measures how quickly or slowly an individual thinks and acts, the person’s intelligence level, and finally the degree of spontaneity and honesty. When we speak of speed, we are referring to the natural speed of the writer in thought, action, and reaction. All of us have an optimum speed at which we think and act most comfortably. If one is forced for a long time to go faster or slower than the optimum speed that will end up in difficulties. Speed tells of the intelligence and spontaneity of the writer.
There are barely any signs that the sample was written in a rushed or sloppy manner. He does leave a few large gaps in between which indicate uncertainty and the writer is possibly taking time to gather their thoughts before putting them onto paper.
Tumblr media
7. Spacing
SPACING WITHIN WORDS
The distance that the writer places between the letters shows how he relates on a personal level to other people. Valentino’s handwriting shows more or less balanced and normal spaces within words. There is occasional tanglin but not to a concerning degree.  A normal, well-balanced spacing within the letter shapes and between them shows a personality that is balanced and flexible in relationship to others, with the ability for both closeness and reserve where appropriate.
SPACING BETWEEN WORDS
The space left between the written words represents the distance that the writer would like to maintain between himself and society at large. Rossi’s handwriting has rather narrow spaces between words. Very narrow spaces between the words show someone who will crowd others for attention, craving constant contact and closeness. Such a writer can be selfish in his demands and unwilling to give of his own time and energies to others.
SPACING BETWEEN LINES
The amount of space that the writer leaves between the lines on the page gives clues to the orderliness and clarity of his thinking, and to the amount of interaction that he wishes to have with his environment. Overall the sample at hand shows normal to slightly wide spacing between lines. There isn’t much tangling(sign of confusion/jumbled ideas) between the lines and neither are the lines excessively far apart(signs of suspicions and hostility). Normal spacing has its own personal harmony and flexibility.
8. Zones
This is the most complex thing in graphology to me personally but to oversimplify, the three zones and what aspects they relate to are as follows:
Tumblr media
I. Upper: fantasy, spirit, intellect, creativity, imagination
Ii. Middle: social life, daily life, everyday concerns
Iii. Lower: instinctual self and drives for security, materialistic things, biological needs
Tumblr media
People can have a writing that is balanced across all zones or they may have a dominating zone. Valentino’s handwriting is overall middle zone dominant. According to Karen Amend et al, “If the Middle Zone is Strongly Developed, but neither the upper nor lower zones are, the writer is overly concerned for himself and his own daily activities. His self-assurance borders on presumptuousness and conceit, and he will make great issues of trivial things. The danger to this sort of writer is boredom and confinement in a self-centered world. ”
This is a somewhat pessimistic and outdated view of this trait(and respectfully I hate it <3). Most students today actually tend to have this type of handwriting and it’s quite common. While it is a somewhat “childish” trait, it may show the person’s extroversion and general concern over daily concerns. (This view is what I believe in more than the weird self-centred blah blah explanation.)
9. Printing & Cursive Writing
To oversimplify, print writing = intellectual/methodical person/head-over-heart or trying to be coherent. Cursive = fast/connected thoughts.
Valentino mixes these two and it is considered an example of efficient breaks in print-cursive handwriting. It is quite common and indicates that the writer is intelligent, succinct, efficient, direct and fast, and simple in writing.
10. Connecting Strokes
(This was another aspect I had a hard time with because I am so out of touch with the knowledge I used to have.)
There are 4 types of connecting strokes: garland, angles, thread, and arcades.
Tumblr media
(I’ve already written more than anyone wishes to read so I'll just jump to the conclusions instead of explaining each.) He uses a lot of garlands(upward strokes) as connecting strokes. If you write with garland connectors, then you are open, friendly, sociable, affectionate, flexible, ready to establish a link with others and communicate easily. Garlands are associated with openness and friendliness. More women than men seem to use garland connectors.
Garland is an image of round and open and is sincere, receptive, and obliging. Hence the positive qualities are feminine traits, friendliness, kindliness, natural behaviour, lack of formality, receptiveness, and adjustability. Socially, they are adaptable and flexible, but their strong need for security makes them feel threatened by any changes in their home, family, or lifestyle. These types are expressive yet conventional. They want communication with and acceptance by other people.
11. Signatures
Signature reveals: one’s public self-image, self-confidence, egotism, self-destruction, diversity, and creativity. Signature is the sum and substance of your public self-image. It shows how one behaves in public, how one acts around others, and in short, one’s social persona.
Signature larger than the script
The writer is advertising and wishes to be recognized as an important person. Pride, self-esteem, ambition, and self-confidence are shown. (also a sign of vanity)
Creative Signature
The graphic imagery of the creative signature will mirror or express the nature of the creative drive, as in the beat of music, the stroke of brush or pen, or creative imagery that reflects the professional involvement.
Ascending Signatures
This is a sign that the person feels good about his public image.
Tumblr media
 12. Letter Specific traits
Capital 'A'
Tumblr media
The 'A' seems to be written in a single stroke retracting back up which may show intelligence and originality.
Lower zone letters
Tumblr media
I DIDNT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS AND I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY. SO HERE IS WHAT ONE TEXTBOOK SAYS:
Tumblr media
THIS IS WILD AND I DO NOT WANT TO COMMENT ON THIS.
---------------------------------------------------
Yeah so that will be it for the analysis, I wish I could be more coherent about this. please send asks incase if you want me to explain something in particular or you disagree with some aspect of the analysis (eg the slant <- the poll I did was killing me)

The first few pages of the character clean-up sheets have something that's got some of my interest… The provided storyboard examples have the artwork in a 4:3 square as expected, but also inside that box is a rectangle, and a smaller 4:3 box that overlaps it.
Tumblr media
I get that the smaller 4:3 box is a safezone so that no vital imagery gets left out/obscured by the overscan area, but what was the 16:9 rectangle for? Was this the original plan for broadcasting Billy & Mandy episodes in widescreen?
This was from my "sane" revision to the official CN storyboard paper at the time. Since "widescreen was coming" we had to start boarding for it. But because of the way CN chose to handle framing, we'd be losing everything above and below the horizontal lines. CN was worried that black bars on the side of the screen would cause people to think their TVs were malfunctioning. That was actually a popular theory at the time, believe it or not.
The large inner box is 4:3 Title Safe - meaning that anything beyond that point might disappear behind a curve or obstruction on older Television sets. If you have text that needs to be read, you want it inside that box. At the time this panel was drawn, we were also supposed to consider a 16:9 Title Safe box and a "safe zone" for the CN logo. Hence my "sane" revision to clear up some clutter.
The worst part of this was that I had designed Billy & Mandy as characters that were, like, two heads tall. It was already difficult getting medium shots of the characters without the framing looking bizarre, but trying to do that in both framings was almost impossible.
There are definitely times when you look at the show and suddenly the kids will have these really long torsos that extend off the bottom of the screen. We sort of had to do that to avoid short people standing on the TV frame.

EARTH STAFF!!!!
He's a cool Phighting OC i made who is basically all bout w a l l. He's based on the Earth's Might Staff gear.
ALTS, GAMEPLAY AND LORE BELOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Red n blue alts:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gameplay: He's a support hero based on the art of shaping the terrain around you
Stats: not that slow but ig still slow. High health and shields. Hitbox is big ish
PASSIVE: Defend those around you Allies gain a small ammount of damage resistance while being nearby of Earth Staff. Killing enemies or doing assists will give Earth Staff and allies around him a bigger damage resistance for a few seconds
MAIN ATTACK: Meteorite You make a stone hove above the ground, with a reticle thing below it so you get to know what will it hit. The stone is visible for everyone, however the reticle can only be seen by you, but it becomes visible right before the meteorite hits the ground
SECONDARY: Stone wall You create a wall with a limited ammount of health. You can't go through the wall, however you and allies can climb on it. You can use this wall to seal off entrances or create shortcuts or use it as cover in a battlefield.
FIRST ABILITY: Extrude If aimed to the grond, creates a sizeable stone pillar that you and your team mates can use both as a cover and as a platform that they can stand on and jump from. If you use it on a wall, you will create a horizontal circular platform that extrudes from the wall. You can use this to bridge gaps, make shortcuts or cover tunnels that would benefit the enemy team. Both of these will dissappear after some time, after half of the ability cooldown is done (maybe more or less)
SECOND ABILITY: Spikerock field You create a field of sharp stones in front of you that damage any enemies that step on them. Good for zoning. However after a short time the rocks will dissapear
PHINISHER: SEALED OFF Pushes all enemies away from you, then creates a circular sphere with a floating rock in the middle. The sphere works as a wall for enemy projectiles, both from the inside and the outside, however this does not affect ally projectiles. Allies also gain damage resistance while in this area
now for THE LOREEEEEEEE
Earth Staff is part of Thieve's Den (not Blackrock, to everyone's shock), and works as a sort of watchman, knight or protector of the land, always watching out for any intruders. He is stubborn, serious, and puts the safety of the land and the people he cares for over his own, and works tirelessly to protect the den from danger. He's also very "patriotic", and very biased against the other factions, although not actually hating most of their members more so just thinking them as inferior.
RELATIONSHIPS:
VINE STAFF: He's best friends with her as they often work alongside eatchother (also ig both of them being staffs) plus Vine gives gardening tips for the secret garden he takes care of.
BAN HAMMER: He's got this sort of frenemy relationship with Ban Hammer since they both seek justice although their morality is somewhat different, specially due to Earth Staff's bias towards the Den.
SHURIKEN: Friends. Shuriken pokes fun at him but he just deals with it.
SLINGSHOT: Also friends. They work together in battle really well and make plans that use both of their abilities in combo
KATANA: Earth Staff respects Katana, and considers his betrayal of Lost Temple a possitive quality, but Katana only tolerates him back without much real feeling.
there's probably more relationships but most of them are "ah, i respect you, yet i'd advise you to side with the den" or UTTER HATRED
also here's a pic of the original Earth's Might Staff for good measure

Do you actually sleep? You’re always rebloging stuff and I like just looking through it when my insomnia is bad. Then again I suppose it could also be a time zone difference
I'm not gonna lie, it's more lying horizontal and thinking about skeletons than sleep most of the time lol
I do! I'm just bad at like, time management and I get all my motivation at about 10pm when I have to get up early for work the next day

One time I got lost in thought admiring Ultrakill's enemy designs, and tried to predict what kind of enemies would be added next, based on the existing dynamic of their roles and pressures on the player
Because there IS a clear and thoughtful evolution of their mechanics.
I hypothesized that there would be some kind of an agile pursuer that flanks the player, and that area-denial crew seems eager for a new member
Then mannequins preview dropped. And the guttertank.
But I never posted my thoughts, so no validation for me >:(
Let's rectify it this time and try to predict what comes next.
---
Mannequins are interesting between they are a cross between a pursuer and a shooter enemy. They are a reasonable step forward after the front-charging Filth and Street Cleaners, and after the straightforward ground-level Strays and Soldiers. They move erratically, they shoot from strange angles and then suddenly dash for the melee attack.
Guttermen and Guttertanks are a interesting sign of what's to come, I think. Both have interesting ways to control the movement of the player - Gutterman force you to move laterally and lure you IN to break their aim, Guttertanks exert a similar pressure with their explosive rockets, but keep you AWAY with their powerful punches and mines.
So I believe that's what's going to be elaborated on further. If these two mainly force you to move laterally, the reasonable continuation would be an enemy that forces you to move TO AND FROM IT to dodge its attacks. For example, creating fast horizontal beams from the side of the player, or spawning circles of projectiles around you and closing them after a delay, or even just shooting projectiles in a horizontally curved arch.
With the way enemies combine roles, I think it wouldn't be surprising to see this enemy also be flying and denying area in the air, which, so far, is mostly a free-movement zone. Punchable aerial mines? Clouds of explosive gas? Moving areas of disruptive electricity? You never know.
I also feel there is still space for pursuers - a strong, "slow" one, possibly with an area denial aspect to it or some kind of melee attack. A big long snake, for example, that coils and complicates your movements. Or a pursuer with a slow swiping weapon that has you move vertically to dodge.
---
Well, we'll see.
Feel free to add your own theories. First and foremost, it's just fun to think about. And if you turn out right, there'll be this corner of the internet to point to and feel wise and prophetic about it

“BOUND FOR FREEDOM, YEAR SIX, DAY FOUR: “Direction”
“Which Direction Is What?”
"I don't suppose you know how exactly we got into this mess?"
Sally asked the question even as she tried to move...up? It was kind of hard to tell given all the weird stuff floating all over the place, but at least it seemed like this was the way to get closer to Sonic. The hedgehog was off in the distance trying to make his own way towards her, even as he seemed to be moving at an angle perpendicular to her position. "Not lovin' that 'I think this is your fault' tone of voice, Sal," he replied.
The two of them drifted apart a bit as each one's respective perch continued to move through the vast strange void around them. "I don't think this is your fault," the princess said, taking a look around, "but I do know that when we end up in weird alternate dimensions or whatever this is, it does tend to be because of something you did."
"That just sounds like 'I think this is your fault' with extra steps," Sonic groaned. "Look, I dunno how we got here, OK? I don't even know how 'here' still exists!" He gestured all around himself. "The last time I saw this place it was getting blasted out of existence by-!"
"So you do know something about what's going on!" Sally cut him off impatiently.
Sonic was about to spit out a retort of his own when suddenly a new pair of voices echoed out all across the vast space around them.
"Gosh, Al, listen to the two of them bickering so badly!"
"Just like we used to do, Cal! Good thing we stepped in, huh?"
"...oh no..." Sonic mumbled.
As if from nowhere, a strange stout man with a big grin and a wide hat appeared next to Sally, prompting a yelp from the squirrel. "See, we're all about fun here in Unknown Zone," he said, then extended a hand to Sally. "I'm Horizont-Al, by the way."
Sonic, meanwhile, looked stone-faced as a companion of his own, a tall man with a tall hat, appeared next to him. "And you remember your old pal Verti-Cal, don't you, Sonic?" he said, extending his own hand to the hedgehog. "Ya see, after your last visit here was such a mess, me 'n' Al realized we ought t'do something to make it up to you once we got our Bad Business all sorted out."
"So when we checked in on you 'n' saw you were on the outs with your lady friend here," Al said, earning a sharp glare from Sally, "we thought we'd bring the two of you here and let the fun of Unknown Zone help you to reconnect!"
"It worked for us, so we thought it'd work for you too!" Cal said, slapping Sonic on the back, much to the hedgehog's visible chagrin.
"So this is all...what? Your idea of couples counseling?" Sonic asked irritably. "That's one real bad joke."
"We do love jokes here in Unknown Zone," Cal replied.
"...yeah I don't think so," Sally said.
She immediately shoved Al down (or at least she thought it was down?) to the ground (or at least she thought it was ground?) and took a flying leap towards a nearby sphere hovering not too far above her. "Any idea how to get out of here?" she called out to Sonic.
"Usually these two clowns just do it on their own," the hedgehog said, turning a sour look on Cal, who simply tipped his hat to him with a playful whistle. "But only after they're done with their newest game."
Sally's eyes lit up as she landed on the sphere. "And this time around that game's about helping us to reconnect, right?"
Sonic's ears perked a bit. "Riiiiight..." he said thoughtfully.
He too leapt out into the void, aiming for a floating series of steps; his landing was a bit rough, but he managed to make it successfully. "Careful, Sonic!" Sally called out to him.
The hedgehog smiled, waving at her; it was a bit hard to tell for sure, but she seemed a little closer now. "Don't worry, Sal, I've dealt with the weirdo physics here before." He geared up for another jump. "But I appreciate the concern. You doin' OK on your end"
She took another leap as well, this time onto a strange triangular platform. "It's definitely a bit disorienting," she replied, "but I think I'm managing OK. Thanks."
Step by step, jump by jump, they continued to make their way; all the while, they kept their eyes firmly fixed on each other. Even despite the shifting directions of everything else around them, they kept their focus squarely on each other, and knew that with each leap they were getting a bit closer. In spite of everything, they couldn't help but share a smile together as they took one last leap, their hands reaching out to each other...and the moment they touched, they vanished from the Unknown Zone.
Their two hosts walked over to each other with ease, sharing a handshake of their own. "Good work, Al," Cal said.
"Right back at ya, Cal," his partner replied.
