i don't have a particular favourite but it gives me an excuse to analyse derek to the end

this fucking bitch. i love him too much to even hate him and it's very obvious considering my art account. and also (hopefully) the only one i'm gonna full on analyse.

derek in season one wasn't the best trainer, but he was a kid. most of it was for the laughs, although what he did wasn't the best decision. he barely had any concern for his pokemon unless they're dying until tracey's death, which most likely was a sort of change, as he quickly gone to the opposite side of the spectrum. he's more cautious, anxious as the time goes on and on as he tries to struggle with the fact that they're dying, and that some of them were easily avoidable, but he was still laid back, he still had his other pokemon. yet, the steven fight changed another thing, as that could've been avoidable, completely avoidable as he realises the blame is on him. he can't find a scapegoat this time, this was on him.

and finally. season two. holy fucking shit.

the anxiety i mentioned?? yeah. through the ROOF here. but i do love the dynamic of him, bianca and cheren. it feels like childhood friends who don't have anyone else so they stick to Eachother because nobody's gonna do the same for them. anyways. back to what i was saying. the clay fight taught him something, no matter what he said, nor what he did. derek didn't change. the fucking FALL to his knees as he came upon realisation of what happen and from utter shock of what just happened. he doesn't know what to do, his friends are dead and it's his fault. he did this again, and he can't do anything about it, and finally, the ghetsis fight. god. the fucking ghetsis fight. the idea of derek staring at the body of his friends, the body of jay, he's done it again, and the same reaction to him to the clay fight as his ears ring, this didn't feel real to him. he lost, and he ran, he ran as fast as his legs took him until he had the courage to face ghetsis again.
