Host, Overblots and Venom Part 3!!!
SO YES HOST CAN NOW USE MAGIC SOMEHOW DON'T ASK ME SPECIFICS CAUSE I HAVEN'T PROPERLY WORKED IT OUT LOL-
When Venom first absorbed the Miner Phantom in the prologue there were no side-effects, at least for him. Host however is affected by it! As Venom consumes the blot, he is also healing his host at the same time during the fight and as a subconscious action, heals the negative magic which is then stored inside of Host. The result left Host with a brand new magical core and allowed them to unlock their own Signature Spell which was identical to Miner Phantom's old signature spell! After a few personal changes to the incantation of course >:))
"What once was yours is now up to me to find. We are Venom, and You are Mine..." (ifyouhaveanybetterideasforanincantationiwillgladlytakethemthiswashardlol-)
It's very similar to the comics where Venom inherited the abilities of his first host, Spider-Man, and was able to allow his future hosts to use the same abilities, only in this case it's Venom absorbing all the blot's powers and Host's Signature Spell "You are Mine" passively being activated by its presence.
The idea is that the original Miner Mage before they Overblotted had a signature spell called âOurs to Mineâ which could âmineâ out a Mageâs signature spell to use for a few moments but after Venom absorbs the Phantom's blot and awakened Hostâs purified magical core, the signature spell redefines itself into âYou are Mineâ to fit Host, allowing them to 'mine' through a targeted mage's magestone to find and make an exact copy of their signature spell as long as the target's magestone is holding some amount of blot. The more blot present that Venom can consume, the more power and control Host has with the copied spell. Once Host has copied a mage's signature spell, they will be able to use it whenever they need.
The only difference between Host and the other NRC students is that âYou are Mineâ is their only spell. Host canât perform any other kinds of magic like the rest of the cast can, only whatever signature spells they have stored. Therefore, they are still technically a âmagiclessâ student.
Eventually Host will have a copy of every student and mage they meet :))
Riddle, Azul and Vil better watch their backs after how they treated Host with their spells heheheh
YOOOOOOO~!
Let's go lads!

Okay but consider post Canon over protective Athena who is sick to death of her most devout being raped.
Athena sticking close to the whole family and promising penelope that she'll keep a close eye on odysseus the first time he has to go into the market and penelope can't go with him. (She was going to go anyway. She's never actually going to let any of them out of her sight ever again. And it's an easy promise to her dearest weaver who seems so distressed to have odysseus leaving her side.)
Athena fully manifesting in the market when someone grabs odysseus with godly flashes of snakes and owls and the drums of war to scream /release him/ (odysseus is feeling indulgent for both his patron and his wife it's so cute that they're this worried it's not like he couldn't defend himself just fine. Especially from whatever poor fuck just grabbed him who definitely doesn't deserve a goddess screaming in his face. Hes trying so hard not to laugh if he did athena would send him flying.)
Athena telling all the other gods that yes she knows odysseus is the favorite barbie doll she choose him well after all and to back the fuck off if any of them bother him again they will have made an enemy of her.
Athena disguising odysseus only as an old beggar from here on out instead of an irresistibly tall and handsome man. Because she saw how uncomfortable nausicaa's attention made him.
#The odyssey#Odysseus#Athena#Penelope#Nausicaa#Tw: rape#Tw:rape recovery#Tw: Calypso keeping odysseus as a sex slave for seven years#Tw: forced prostitution#See what happened with circe#I know in ancient Greek stories there's a lot of serial violence in various shapes and forms#But it seems like it happens more to athenas choosen/priestess/most devot#And it feels a little bit more targeted beyond it being a horrific violation#Like it's targeted towards Athena for her choice on being chaste#Which just adds another layer of fucked upness#And I've always felt like this contributes to Athena being cold#And at some point I imagine she'd get sick of it and course correct into overprotectivness from being cold#Headcanon that penelope goes a little bit insane when odysseus gets back (you're never allowed to leave my sight ever again )#(Don't worry it's mutual odysseus is into it he also never wants to leave his wife's side ever again)#Athena: standing protectively over odysseus in full god mood and hissing#Odysseus: not that this isn't an amazing ego boost but (and I can't believe you're making me be the voice of reason ) arent you overreactin#Odysseus: I mean you were never this protective when I was an actual literal child#Odysseus: or when I was fighting in an actual literally war fighting against gods and demi gods#Athena slightly embarrassed but is not sorry she sent whoever grabbed odysseus flying : SHUT UP#Love the fact that this whole group has the time and the support of each other to actually try to heal from their many many traumas#I know I did this in a slightly joking way but healing from abuse of power and violations are so important to me#Stories about healing in general#That's my jam#Anyway not tagging this as epic because of 1. Athena and odysseus's friendship break up#And 2. The change to circes story (which i actually like a lot! But still the odyssey Canon circe was also a sa situation.)

Explaining the James Logan Howlett (Wolverine) Lore for the new fans :)
I made this as a little cheat sheet for all the new Logan/Wolverine fans, in case youâve never seen the movies or read the comics. Hopefully itâll help with your fanfics and understanding his character better <3
Logan is my favorite of the Marvel superheroâs, and he and I go way backâŠ.so far back that my Dad dressed up as Wolverine and I as Rogue for Halloween in 2006. So he holds a very special place in my heart.
Lore - Part 2Â Wolverine Comics
If youâve seen X-men Origins: Wolverine, I hate to break it to you, but that backstory is not canon to the X-men universe. The later movies really screwed up the timeline. So the information here is strictly from the comics.
ââââ ââ
â ââââ
Pre-Adamantium Binding:
His real name is James Howlett, âLoganâ is later used as an alias to distance himself from his past.
He was born sometime around 1880, in Alberta Canada.
He is the illegitimate son of Elizabeth Howlett and Thomas Logan. He grew up on the Howlett estate and believed John Howlett was his real father.
His mutant powers first appeared when he was a child. He has accelerated healing, heightened senses, and retractable bone claws.
The trigger was caused by Thomas Logan killing James Howlett. The overwhelming fear and anger made his power manifest, blinded with rage he kills Thomas.
As his biological father dies, he reveals to Logan that he is his true father. The event is deeply traumatizing, and Logan runs away from his family estate. His mother commits suicide shortly after.
Logan has a half brother known as Sabertooth (Victor Creed) who has similar powers to the Wolverine but is more âanimalisticâ
The details vary across the comics but the brothers are always seen as rivals. And often pitted against eachother.
Logan served in WWI, WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
He also served in a Canadian military force known as âDepartment Hâ that specialized in superhuman affairs. (This was after the experiment, Iâll go into more detail later)
Sometime before the Weapon X program: On Earth-616, Logan had a wife (Itsu) and son in Japan where he was training at the time. They were killed by the Winter Soldier (Bucky Barnes)
Weapon X Program - Adamantium Binding:
The Weapon X program was run by multiple people working in secret for the Canadian government. Originally beginning in 1845, their goal was to experiment on mutants and create their own super-soldiers.
Logan was deceived and manipulated into undergoing the Weapon X experiment. He did not consent to being a test subject.
For some reason the X-Men Origins movie makes it out to be that Logan willingly chose to undergo this process, only to later reveal that he was tricked into doing so.
Before being captured, he was still struggling with his identity, he was close to 100 years old at the time. His life was filled with violence and loss. Making him physically and mentally vulnerable.
He was a prime target for exploitation.
Part of the experiment was to completely erase his memories and replace them with false ones. This allowed them complete control over him.
This also made it difficult for him to recall how he ended up in the program to begin with.
I repeat: they completely wiped his memory. His whole identity was gone.
100 years of memories were gone.
The bonding process turned his entire skeleton and bone claws into indestructible metal.
Due to his regenerative nature, Logan was not given anesthetic or put under for the procedure. It was excruciatingly painful.
Logan worked as a mercenary for private military contractors. He took on these assignments without fully understanding their implications because of his fragmented memory.
Sometime later he became a member of X-Force, a private military unit (affiliated with the CIA) that dealt with incredibly violent operations.
The purpose of the project was to create an unstoppable killing machine. With their end goal being to erase his humanity all together. However Loganâs mental fortitude allowed him to resist the conditioning and make his escape before it was too late.
After escaping, Logan developed a mistrust with authority. And just people in general. He felt deeply betrayed by the Weapon X program. And he struggles with the fear of being used as a weapon.
The escape and aftermath of Weapon X:
After everything Logan went through, the intense trauma and confusion significantly impacted his actions and mindset.
He was left with extreme psychological damage, and behaved more as an animal than a man for the first few years of his freedom. Living in the wilderness of Canada.
Quite literally a feral man. He lost touch of his humanity. Embracing his animalistic abilities, turning him into an apex predator.
Logan has the ability to enter something called âBeserker Rageâ which he becomes entirely driven by animalistic instinct. Turning him into an unstoppable force and exerting himself for very long periods of time.
Think of when you see him running on all foursâŠ
Over time, Logan began to regain bits and pieces of his humanity. He was later discovered by Heather and James MacDonald Hudson who took him in and helped him recover physically and mentally.
(Logan actually fell in love with Heather, and James became his best friend. They were the closest thing he had to a family)
After he recovered, he was recruited by the Canadian governments âDepartment Hâ. They were responsible for a lot of his training and became a key member in Canadaâs superhero team: Alpha Flight.
This is where he took on the code name âWolverineâ
His time with Alpha Flight was short lived. And soon he was approached by Charles Xavier, who was looking for mutants to join his X-Men. He recognized Loganâs potential and offered him a place on the team as well as the promise to help him regain his memory.
Logan accepted, and his time with the X-Men marked a critical and significant moment in his life. Under Xavierâs guidance he was able to rebuild his identity and gradually piece together his past. All while fighting for the rights of mutants.
Being part of the X-Men gave him a sense of purpose and direction. Although his main goal had always been to uncover what he had lost, which was himself. He still struggles with trust and relationships, but eventually forms strong bonds with the other X-men.
His past with Weapon X still haunts him. And he has vivid and terrible nightmares about what he had done and what was done to him.
I wonât go into detail about his time with the X-men because that varies a lot across the comics. Just know that he had a love-hate relationship with them, but he ultimately loved them in the end.
Some sad facts about Logan that actually haunt me:
Logan has outlived everyone he ever loved. Family, friends, even his own children. He is so so so lonely.
Immense amount of survivors guilt. He feels unworthy of the life he continues to live.
He suffers from chronic nightmares. Often waking up in a violent and panicked state.
Deep-seated fear of abandonment that goes all the way back to his early childhood. He isolates himself to protect himself from more pain.
Tons of self-loathing. He believes himself to be nothing more than a killer. He thinks he is unworthy of love and happiness.
In the âOld Man Loganâ storyline, he is tricked into killing the entire X-Men team. This event haunts him for the rest of his life.
Logan had a long, unrequited love for Jean Gray. He has watched her die multiple times, and each time a piece of him dies with her. On one occasion, he even had to kill her himself.
When he succumbs to âbeserker rageâ he loses control of himself. And the aftermath horrifies him. He is even afraid of himself at times and one of the reasons why he distances himself from others.
Some happy/soft facts to make up for everything you just read:
Logan is incredibly fatherly at times, often taking younger mutants under his protection and guidance. He becomes a mentor to them and looks out for their well-being.
In one of the comics he takes a young girl (Jubilee) to the mall and followers her around carrying her bags. He loves doting on her and I find it so adorable.
He also teaches another mutant named Kitty how to dance.
In one mission he is tasked with taking care of an infant, Hope. And he is incredibly gentle and tender with her. Cradling her in his arms and being fiercely protective.
He has a deep love and connection with animals. Especially ones that have been mistreated or misunderstood.
Caring for an injured wolf, he nurses it back to health and releases it back into nature.
He also adopts a stray, abused dog at one point.
In one of the timelines, he funded and ran the âJean Gray School for Higher Learningâ He was the headmaster, and was dedicated to protecting and teaching young mutants.
In one scene he literally makes pancakes for all the students. I love him so much.
His relationship with Nightcrawler (Kurt Wagner) is very brotherly. They share alot of respect and understanding for each other, and Nightcrawler often serves as Loganâs moral compass.
His happiest memories are when he was training in Japan. And he has a deep appreciation and admiration for the culture. Taking on the samurai code of honor, and respecting its discipline and humility.
His entire relationship with Laura Kinney (X-23). Essentially his daughter. Taking on a father-figure role for her.
In one of the comics he organizes a birthday party for her, knowing she never had one. He goes all out and it shows just how much he loves her.
Logan has a great sense of humor. Often dry and sardonic, heâs known for his quick wit and playful banter. Which adds a layer of warmth to his otherwise tough persona.
He is very fond of lifeâs simple pleasures. Which reflects his inner desire for peace and normalcy. He values the little things that make life enjoyable.
His numerous acts of kindness towards strangers. Logan is compassionate at heart.
He doesnât comfort others with his words, but rather his presence. Logan has a very unique understanding of grief and tries to give others relief in knowing they arenât alone.
WOW okay I wrote way too much. Tbh I actually cut a ton out of this but if anybody wants a part 2 Iâd be happy to share more. Shoutout to my brother for helping me source all this with his comics lol.
If you read all this, youâre a real one. And Iâm so glad weâre all witnessing the Logan Howlett Renaissance

Why Will Byers?
An analysis and theory on why Henry/Vecna targeted Will first in season 1 and his plans for Will in season 5
âŒïžContains The First Shadow (TFS) spoilers so please proceed with caution.âŒïž
This is going to be a little long but Iâve tried to give as much context as I can without actually being able to show snippets from the stage play. This is my interpretation of everything that went down as a member of the audience and not as someone who has read up any theories about TFS before. To understand why Henry took Will first in 1983, we have to start with -
Henry and Joyce
From all the times Iâve watched TFS, the one thing that has stuck with me is the final conversation Henry has with Joyce. Itâs just before his last confrontation with Patty Newby and before he joins Brenner for good. Joyce is the last person (who doesnât know about Henryâs powers) that he canonically talks to.
Throughout the entire play Joyce, Hopper, and Bob are investigating the animals dying at the hands of Henry and come to the conclusion that Victor Creel has been the one doing the killing. They get so close to solving the case. In her last conversation with Henry, Joyce tries to comfort him by saying that Victor will pay for his crimes - which makes Henry laugh because sheâs so close yet so far from the truth. He gets a little frustrated and says something along the lines of âYou donât get it. But someday you will.â (edit 28/9: the exact dialogue is [Henry: youâre too nice. that is how theyâll get you. you have to learn to do anything you can to protect the ones you love] [Joyce: I donât understand.] [Henry: You will.]) The next time we see Henry make a reappearance in Joyceâs life is during -
The Vanishing of Will Byers
Will is taken into the Upside Down (UD) by Henry. Itâs not even a question anymore. All of the context clues from 1x1 lead us to believe that Willâs kidnapping was not by a demogorgon. Will - a 12 year old - miraculously survives a week in the upside down with no food or water. Will is even around the demogorgon a few times in the Upside Down. (Joyce communicating with Will through the lights and then the demogorgon coming after her immediately).
Barb dies the night she is taken but Will stays alive and also somehow manages to talk to Joyce through the wall. Joyce is led exactly to where Will was held at the end of s1 and he makes it out alive. Itâs almost as if Henry knew all along that Joyce was the most capable of never giving up on finding her son. Like Henry took Will Byers because he was Joyceâs son. And like he was giving her just enough to know that Will was alive. Even when Joyce and Hopper find him at the end in a state of near death, heâs not injured by a creature. He was being prepared for the next stage of Vecnaâs plan -
The Possession of Will Byers
The origins of Henryâs powers happen as such - As a kid, he is transported into the UD (originally coined Dimension X by the government) for a few hours because he touched something he wasnât meant to touch. During his time in there, he came in contact with the Mind Flayer (MF). According to TFS this is the point in his life when he started getting âcorruptedâ. Brennerâs dad - who was one of the first people to enter dimension X - had mutated blood after but no powers. Henry was the first person to come in contact with the MF and itâs highly likely he got his powers because of this (This would also track considering how most of the party has been in the UD now but show no signs of having powers). The MF controls Henry for the rest of TFS and Henry grows more power hungry the more he kills.
In S2, Henry presumably sends the MF after Will - who has now had a year to heal from the events of 1983. Will is the only other person in all of ST to have had direct contact with the MF and survived it. Henry didnât hesitate to kill Billy in S3, but he always gives everyone just enough to keep Will safe. Will himself tells Owens in S2 that the MF wants to kill everyone except him. Will once again survives the entire ordeal and is given a âbreakâ for the next 2 seasons. Except I donât believe heâs been just given a break. I think Will is -
Henryâs Sleeper Agent.
Ready to awaken in s5. I undoubtedly think that Will is going to have powers. And I donât think theyâre going to be the same as Henry and El. El and the other lab kids get their powers directly from Henry. Willâs powers will be directly from the MF like Henry. I believe this has been Henryâs plan all along and itâs further affirmed by what he tells Will in the recent VR game. That Will will be the key to Henry being able to infiltrate his friendsâ minds. Jamie Campbell-Bower also mentioned during the S4 press that to get in character, he set up a display with all of Henryâs victims and targetsâ faces on his wall(?), and Will was in the center.
Henry is going to use his connection with Will sneakily and midway through S5 heâs going to awaken Willâs powers (maybe in ep4 - which is said to be titled âSorcererâ and has young Will in it). Henry is going to try and manipulate his way into making an ally out of Will, and itâs not going to work because -
Will is the Perfect Character Foil.
Will is everything Henry could have been if he had a better support system. He is the perfect character foil. Unlike Henry, Will has a mother who loves him unconditionally and more importantly, believes him. Unlike Henry, the person who Will loves the most (the Patty to Willâs Henry: Mike) is going to love him back and stay by his side all season. No one is going to force them to be apart the way Henry was told to stay away from Patty. Will is not going to be easily swayed even though Henry has spent years crafting him into the perfect soldier. Sure, Henry has seen him heartbroken and sad, but that comes nowhere near to the amount of love and support Will is going to get from his people next season. And theyâre going to quite literally defeat Vecna with the power of love and friendship. After that, Will Byers is getting the happy ending that Henry could have gotten.
#stranger things#the first shadow#will byers#henry creel#vecna#vecna/henry/001#hinting at parallels between#hentty#byler#I could write a whole essay about how Mike and Will are set up to mirror Patty and Henry.#but thatâs for another time#joyce byers#stranger things meta#stranger things analysis#stranger things theory#my art#the first shadow spoilers

Lilith Analysis
(Lady Lilith, by Dante Gabriel Rossetti)
In my perspective, Lilith symbolizes the female intuition which is often vilified in our patriarchal society. She questions the status quo, defying societal norms and forges her own path for how she lives her life. In some interpretations, Lilith is depicted as the serpent in the garden, tempting Eve with the apple as revenge for her expulsion after refusing to submit to Adam. Targeting Eve instead of Adam, shows how Lilith understands the curious nature within women to want to know more and what ifs. It is the same curiosity that made Pandora open the box releasing malicious spirits into the world.
The energy of Lilith is a vengeful one as she sought revenge against God for her banishment out of the garden. In her expulsion, she was stated to steal babies and harm innocent lives, unsympathetic to anyone in her way. So within our charts, Lilith shows where we've experienced profound shame and societal rejection. It is where we are often demonized for refusing to yield to others' expectations. If we don't heal this pain it often becomes a form of self-destruction, fueling a need to gain revenge, harming anyone in our path. This part of our chart is usually suppressed, relegated to the shadows, but integration of this energy is crucial. Mainly because keeping our shame underneath the surface will often cause self-sabotage within the house Lillith is in. Finding the underlying root of the problem will often lead to reclaiming of your power, making Lilith be an energy of magnetization and authority. Neglection will only exacerbate internal conflict.
Lilith in the 1st:In the first house, these individuals are the walking embodiments of Lilith. They are often faced with deep-seated feelings of shame regarding their sexuality and physical appearance. Many have endured the pain of bullying in their youth, which has made them feel shunned out from society. This shame becomes a heavy burden that feels as if it is a part of them, complicating efforts to express their true self openly. Consequently, a portion of their identity remains veiled, guarded against potential judgment or rejection from others. Yet, beneath this veil within their unconscious, lies a potent magnetism. A profound sense of sexuality that others find rather attractive or unsettling. They find themselves both desired and feared. But honestly like Britney said itâs because, "All of the boys and all of the girls want to if you seek Amy." Lilith's influence in this house encourages independence and self-assertion. It teaches the importance of standing firm in the face of societal pressures and refusing to be demonized for your own authenticity. However, yielding to criticism and seeking external validation risks facing internal conflicts. A constant battle against yourself. That is why confronting the shadow aspects of one's personality should be practiced, as it offers a pathway to self-discovery and empowerment. When you are able to show resilience and unwavering faith in yourself, you're able to garner admiration and respect from those around you. The ability to transmute pain into productive actions serves as a magnetic force, attracting allies and opportunities alike. Learning to embrace your inner sexual energy is imperative, as it is something that cannot be suppressed. Unfortunately, this embracement may invite unwanted attention, leaving you vulnerable to exploitation and trauma. Overall, the role of Lilith in the first house is one of self-acceptance and defiance against societal norms. It's a journey marked by challenges, but also by profound personal growth and authenticity.
Lilith in the 2nd: In the house of personal gains, Lilith has felt great shame surrounding her personal values. Individuals with this placement have a hard time surrounding their self worth and physical assets. Possessive tendencies lie beneath the surface, as a consequence from being betrayed in the past. People may have taken advantage of them for their material value and stolen from them. Financial wounds run deep making them unable to properly trust themselves with money. Might find themselves in cycles of reckless spending, prioritizing instant gratification over long term investments. The types go on a shopping spree and then feel guilty for indulging materialistically. These people can either be overindulgent or extremely picky when it comes to what they spend. There is an inherent value of pleasure and spending resources on things that make you feel good. The sign Lilith is in will give you an idea on what you unwarily spend money on and guide your financial decisions. Implementing a budget plan can be very beneficial in uncovering and healing shame surrounding your spending habits. It will help you regulate your spending. Underlying shadow challenges when it comes to self worth is another aspect of this placement. Leading to having doubts about deservingness and attaining success. Lilith in the 2nd, prompts a reevaluation of your values. Rather than being overly picky, you're encouraged to be intentional in your pursuits. Learn to align your investments with your deepest values and aspirations. Family dynamics may also contribute to your relationship with money, with the possibility of past generations engaging in questionable financial practices. Additionally, Lilith's immature aspects may tempt individuals to resort to unethical means of acquiring wealth, such as engaging in sex work or participating in illicit activities. However, succumbing to these temptations risks exploiting others and ultimately perpetuating cycles of harm. In navigating the influence of Lilith in the 2nd house, you are urged to exercise caution and integrity in financial dealings. By confronting shadows and cultivating a sense of self-worth, they can transcend shame and reclaim power over their financial well-being.
Lilith in the 3rd: When Lilith is in the third house of youth and mental stimulation, these individuals have deep shame within their speech and communication. Oftentimes they were demonized as a child, facing constant scrutiny about their childish behavior. Parental guardians made them seem like they were to blame for the smallest issues that occurred. In school they may have felt shunned out from their peers, becoming the target of bullying and ridicule. This ridicule can even come from their teachers that overly criticized them for not being the perfect student, leading them to feel like they were a bad kid. Might indicate having a speech impediment, having a hard time communicating how you feel and issues surrounding being able to read. Your intelligence was significantly downplayed from the earlier years of school which made you believe you were dumb. For this reason, you may prefer being quiet and only speaking when you are needed to, often avoiding starting conversation. To others you may seem standoffish when you speak, but instead it can be anxiety to say what you really want because of public reaction. This Lilith wound is one centered around your inner child and taking back power over your mind. Intrusive thoughts of feeling less than can often be an underlying trigger, but you must recognize that these voices in your head are not your own. It is programming from the ridicule you received as a kid. Mindfulness and meditation practices can help regulate the outside input that comes in your head. You're a very intellectually capable individual that often understands knowledge about topics considered unconventional by society. Donât be ashamed of what you know and use it to teach other people information you are passionate about.
Lilith in the 4th: Within the house of home and heritage, Lilith has wrested with feeling of shame for her family background. These individuals can often grow up feeling sexually repressed by their family. Criticism for what they were and being called a slut for wanting to express themselves. This placement reminds me of Meg from Family Guy, and how she is consistently made the butt of all ridicule by her family. As you went through puberty, you could've felt uncomfortable being objectified by family members. Some could've faced even faced exploitation by their own family. There is a strange focus on purity within the household and committing towards conservative ideals of presenting yourself. From their point of view, you may be seen as someone who is promiscuous and disobeying traditional values. You might find it hard to feel at home within yourself because of these past afflictions. This can even lead to you feeling ashamed about your emotional responses, often viewing them as evil instead of necessary feelings. Aside from sexuality, this Lilith placement also indicates having shame regarding your origin. There might have been concealed truths about your birth, unraveling as you mature. Might have felt like your family were strangers and you did not belong with them. Issues with the mother figure can be highlighted by this placement. You don't get along well and could feel a sense of cruelty from her. A shadow side to you is kept veiled from your family, which makes you feel like an outsider by them. You may have a reputation of being the rebellious cousin. They may harbor outdated ideologies such as racism, homophobia and xenophobia, that makes you more ashamed of them. The home you grew up in may have been the cause of this shame too, because of its design or infestation issues. Overall, stepping away from your family's point of view of the world is a big factor with this Lilith placement. You cannot allow their lives to dictate who you are meant to be. Learning to nurture yourself and finding your own community is an essential part of your journey. As time pass, you may discover yourself becoming a space for other people to confide in about their personal issues. A testament to Lilith making a home for herself outside the boundaries of Eden.
Lilith in the 5th: In the fifth house, individuals have grappled with profound shame surrounding the way they experience pleasure within their lives. Their childhood may have been faced with restrictions on the ways they could have fun, such as engaging in hobbies solely to appease their parents rather than for personal enjoyment. Activities you found enjoyment in, felt like you needed to keep hidden away from other people in order to not get ridiculed. There are plenty of hobbies you enjoy that others will find unorthodox to have. For example, going to shooting ranges, participating in drag shows, taking part in the circus or cosplaying your favorite characters. When it comes to your talents, you might face envy from others because they want the attributes that you have. May face hate in your extracurricular activities and being outcasted by team members. In your own eyes, your often unsure about your talents and feel like you're not good enough in your practice. Additionally, there is also shame regarding sexual pleasure. You might find it fun to explore, but some experiences make it unsettling for you to enjoy. There may be a need to keep your sex life a secret from other people. However, sex positivity can be a notable aspect of this placement though, not having much conservative notions in your sexual experiences. When it comes to children, you might feel some shame for not wanting to have kids and face scrutiny from others for this stance. You can even feel like you hate the thought of children and not wanting them around you. If you do end up having kids, they can exhibit Lilith quality traits of rebellion and unorthodox behavior. There is definitely a shadow side to how you gain pleasure with this placement, indulging in self destructive behaviors and selling yourself away for fun. You must learn to tame that primal urge within you when you are having a great time. Especially as this can lead to addictions to pleasure, such as having a gambling, drug abuse and being overly sexual. Learn to set boundaries when you're having fun.
Lilith In the 6th: In the house of service, Lilith plays a commanding role within her work space. This placement reminds me of The Devil wears Prada, where Miranda was seen as a formidable figure by her colleagues. Similarly, coworkers may harbor similar feelings toward you, casting you as assertive & harsh. You may face a lot of scrutiny in the workplace and could even work in an environment where there's a prevalence of discrimination. Workplace harassment can occur here as well, oftentimes facing oversexualization. Navigating and accepting your shadow persona in the workplace becomes essential. As long as you come there to do your job, thatâs all that matters. Just try not to lash out at your colleagues because of misconception and other issues. There may be a big rumor that you are lazy for not doing as much as everyone else. However, you're the type of person that only comes and does the work that is necessary, not overworking themselves as everyone else. On the flip side, you can be hyper focused on work and do a lot more in your day that others donât really see. This can take a toll on your health and work stress can be a big indication of this placement. Speaking of health, you might have a terrible relationship with health officials. Health experts in the past might have treated you poorly and even faced a misdiagnosis. Your relationship with health overall is something you can feel intense emotions around. A health condition could make you feel like you donât have the same capabilities as other people. Might struggle with digestion and eating food to nourish yourself. There is a lot of necessary shadow work to uncover within your habits and daily routines with this placement. Learn to not be so hard on yourself, making time to properly maintain your physical needs.Health is wealth after all.
Lilith In the 7th: When Lilith lies in the house of partnerships, there is often shame surrounding the close connections these people have. They often easily attract people with Lilith energy in their lives, such as rebellion, ostracization and outcasts. You're often able to see the version of others that they keep hidden underneath. For some reason, people can feel like they can trust you with their problems and you make space to not judge them. Something about you just allows people to feel easily able to open up their shame to you. It might be because there is a part of you that has felt the same shame of being shunned out by other people. In your love life, there could be a tendency to feel outcasted by your partners which leads to having a warped perception of yourself. Partners often can make you feel like you are too much and incapable of being loved. May find it hard to feel their needs being met in their personal relationships. Here lilith indicates issues of being taken advantage of by other people and personal power being exploited. Aggressive aspects can also show facing abuse, which can make these individuals pretty guarded when meeting others. You could feel the need to be in control and have a dominant role in your love life. However, self-destructive tendencies may spur from not getting what you want out of a partner and lead you sabotaging your connections. You can often pursue relationships you know are unhealthy for you. Thereâs a tendency to want people that bring out an unhinged version of yourself, becoming a whole different person with a partner. Shadow work needs to be done as to why you chase these toxic connections, which sometimes is rooted from the way you viewed the partnership of your parents.
Lilith in the 8th: In the house of death and loss, Lilith is put to face the extremes. Each time they are in a transitional phase in their lives, they get kicked out of their paradise. These individuals understand the darker sides of life and are somewhat good at navigating their shadow. Shadow side can often take things to the extreme when they are out of control. Really good at understanding the taboo and being okay with things that are scarier for other people. A necessary need to make peace with inner demons and resolving past psychological conflicts. While they are able to easily exude a seductive persona, sex can be a harsh topic for them to feel comfortable with. Losing their virginity might have been a monumental experience that shifted the way they act in their lives. There is a need to work on resolving issues with sex and not being afraid of it . Also, you might be into some fetishes that you feel the need to keep hidden from other people. Hiding is a big coping mechanism for them, whenever they feel like the world rejects them, they bury themselves down in shadows to not be seen. A distinct relationship with death, some hold huge guilt for being unphased by death, while others worry about their own deaths. If a family member had died, you might feel guilty for not being sad or crying at the funeral. These people can mourn their innocence a lot, thinking of a time they were untouched by the world around them. During transitional phases of your life, you could be vilified and demonized for acting differently. Might have had a dark aesthetic or emo phase during your teen years. Change can be a scary thing for you and you could harbor strong resistance towards new possibilities. This mainly comes from the scrutiny youâve felt by other people. Learn to embrace the taboo and understand change will only allow you to reclaim your power.
Lilith in the 9th: These individuals hold a complex relationship with religion and belief systems. Growing up, they likely experienced a religious environment that instilled fear and submission to authority. It's possible they had overly religious parents who prioritized adherence to faith, rather than showing genuine love and understanding for their children. As you mature, there's a tendency to reject traditional systems of beliefs for more esoteric philosophies, helping you find empowerment through alternative spiritual paths. Although shifting your beliefs will allow you to have a sense of freedom, remnants of past religious trauma still linger in your mind. Guilt for what you believe in is a big focus for this placement. They often find themselves at odds with mainstream perspectives, feeling a sense of alienation and struggling to fit in. There's a tendency to doubt their intelligence and the information they know. This struggle extends to academic pursuits as well, where they may feel out of place and struggle to connect with their peers. Moving away from their area of upbringing can be liberating, allowing them to explore their shadow aspects and embrace their darker side through travel and adventure. In doing so, they may discover a newfound magnetism and allure, attracting others to their path towards self-discovery.
Lilith in the 10th: In the house of public career, Lilith exerts a strong influence on one's outward image and persona. When in public settings, you often see people being easily magnetized towards you. If Lilith is conjunct the Midheaven (MC), it can signify experiences of unwanted attention, including catcalling. There's a deep-seated fear of being seen, stemming from the difference between your public persona and true self-image. Overexposure to the public eye can lead to discomfort, particularly in career fields where others seem to dominate or overshadow you. There is a natural ability to exude sensuality that others find intriguing. They may develop a reputation for sensuality and allure, which can intimidate others, particularly men, due to the inherent power they radiate. Despite the fantasization, they may resent the objectification and sexualization. In professional settings their bosses may even attempt to take advantage of them. This placement can also indicate stage fright and social anxiety, causing them to prefer the sidelines rather than the spotlight. An unbalanced version of this placement would be sabotaging yourself when it comes to your career. Promoting bad behavior so that you can gain the upper advantage in situations. It's crucial for them to be vigilant against exploitation by authority figures and to properly navigate professional relationships and contracts. Despite potential misconceptions about their character, individuals with this placement must embrace their authenticity and prioritize their own career aspirations over societal expectations. Your that b*tch for real, and you cannot allow the public opinion of you to dictate who you are. Also, Lilith in the 10th house may signify a challenging relationship with their father, involving absence, mistreatment, or attempts at control. This further fuels aspirations to become a successful person, in order to prove their farther wrong. Embracing their power and authenticity is important for success and fulfillment in the professional world.
Lilith in the 11th: Friendships are never easy with Lilith in the 11th. Despite outward display of support, these individuals frequently encounter betrayal from those they consider close allies, discovering that supposed friends harbor secret animosity and ulterior motives towards them. Friends could make jokes about insecurities you have, while accusing you of being soft for finding offence. Your secrets are not the safest within your social networks, they are like blind items ready to spill all the tea about your personal life. This atmosphere of distrust can lead to a cautious approach to forming friendships, resulting in a preference for family and romantic relationships over the unpredictability of friendships. Despite these challenges, individuals with this placement often gravitate towards unconventional or marginalized groups of people. Finding companionship in the outcasts who defy societal norms. They may become strong advocates for the rights and liberation of marginalized groups, focusing on the need for women's rights and the empowerment of societal underdogs. So while friendships may be met with much difficulty, these individuals create meaningful connections with fellow non-conformists in society. Finding solidarity in their shared struggles, leading to finding community outside of Eden.
Lilith in the 12th: Individuals with Lilith in the 12th house tend to keep Lilith's energy to the depths of their subconscious mind. They are often unaware of its magnetic, rebellious, and sexually charged nature. May doubt their own sexuality and seductive capabilities, feeling overshadowed by others charm. However, when in solitude, Lilith emerges to confront them about their inner shadows and demons. This often leads to solitary battles with their deepest fears and insecurities. Sleep issues are common with this placement, as they may struggle to maintain a stable sleep routine. May prefer the quiet solitude of the night for introspection and self-discovery. In their dreams, they often confront scenarios designed to evoke feelings of inadequacy and shame, forcing them to confront their inner vulnerabilities. They can be drawn towards dream working, meditation, shifting and exploring unique ways to access their subconscious mind. By using the arts, they can transmute fears and underlying issues in their mind to a reservoir of creativity. You can often see their shadow portrayed boldly in their art. Also, these individuals are often empathetic and hold nonjudgmental view towards the shadows of other people. Overall, through uncovering their darkness, Lilith in the 12th house can lead to spiritual growth and artistic development when integrated unapologetically.
____
Remember to look at the aspects to Lilith in your chart. Since it is an astrological point & asteroid, it doesn't hold as much significance compared to the planets. So aspects allow you to know how much of this energy can be brought up to the surface. Also, this reading is for all versions of Lilith in the chart.

Danny Punches a Clown Part 6
Masterpost
Danny, after many promises and assurances, lets Red Robin take him to the batcave. They travel by car, and as fancy as it was, Danny was almost scared to touch anything inside it. Red was a much better driver than his father though, so he just closed his eyes and focused on trying to keep his healing up.
The Batcave turned out to be an actual cave, underground, with actual bats in it. He was whisked to a medical area too quickly to see much of anything else besides some other vehicles and a giant computer set up.Â
Someone was waiting in the medical space with a tray of tools and bandages ready next to the bed, Red introduced him as Agent A. They were quick to lie him down on a cot and set him up to a heart monitor and that had Red and the A frowning immediately.
âItâs a medical condition.â Danny blurted, and both pairs of eyes shot to him. âMy heartrate is naturally very slow, temperature runs cold, pale skin, slow circulation so I can't have a lot of different medications." Not that any medications would really work, but better safe than sorry. Them not working would be suspicious, and Danny does not have the energy or focus for trying to keep straight any real explanations right now. "Itâs fine, I promise.â
Agent A nodded slowly. âIs there anything else we should know before we start treatment?â
âJust can't give me any medicines, I think that's the only relevant bit.â
âAlright, I will keep that in mind. Please lift your shirt so I can see the wound.â
Danny does, and they manage their expressions quite well on seeing it. Agent A goes immediately for creams and bandages.
âWhat burned you like that?â Red asked.
âGun.â Danny was starting to slur. He did not want to sleep right now, with these people here.
âA gun? What kind of gun causes burns?â
âNew blaster, parents made it special.â
âYour parents make guns?â
Danny shrugs, turning his head to look at Red instead of the far off ceiling of the cave. âMy parents make lots of things. They're scientists, inventors." Danny waves his arm around vaguely. "The gun was new though, hadnât been shot with that one before. The earlier versions were much less powerful.â
âAre you saying that your parents are the ones that shot you?â Red asked gently, taking a seat in the chair next to the bed. âIt wasnât just their gun that was used?â
Danny frowns. âWell yeah.â
Tim is very concerned at the tone he just used, like getting shot at by your parents was normal. âDo they shoot at you a lot?â
âFair amount I suppose.â Red could see Danny thinking really hard about something. Danyâs head was really starting to hurt. His brain was fuzzy and he knew he should be concerned about something, but couldnât figure out what. His parents shooting at him was nothing new, considering. âLike, they did it more than Vlad but I donât see him as often, and theyâve done it longer than the GIW, but since the GIW has started theyâve been about equal I guess. I mean, sometimes all the defense systems in the house target me but that wasnât technically intentional. Took forever for us to figure out how to get them to stop that.â
âDanny, when was the last time you slept?â Red asked gently.
Danny wasnât sure if his blip earlier this morning counted. He didnât think it lasted more than an hour, but the last time he slept before that was before his fight in Amity, escaping through the ghost zone and running around in this dimension.
âItâs been awhile.â Danny landed on. True enough for medical history he supposed.
âRight.â A finished the last of the bandages and tugged Dannyâs shirt back down. âWell, why donât you do that now, while we go and find you something to eat.â
âIâm too tired to fight food right now.â
Tim shared a look with Alfred before turning back to Danny. âOkay then. Maybe sleep first and then eat?â
âI will go start making something now that youâre all set up here Mister Danny.â Agent A states, walking past the medical curtains and shutting them behind him. Red pulled out a tablet and started tapping on it. He noticed Dannyâs eyes on him after a moment.
âYou going to sleep?â
âStrange place, strange people. Not sure thatâs the best decision here.â
Red looked up from his tablet.
âYou trusted me enough to come here. Trust me enough to sleep. I will make sure no one but me or A comes in before youâre ready.â

Come running back to me
Request by @esposadejoyhuerta - babe, I tried, but angst evades me.
Summary: Wanda cheats on you and Natasha is there to help you heal.
Wanda Maximoff x F!R, Natasha Romanoff x F!R
A/N: Reader has Magneto like powers.
Thereâs something in the air that makes you restless as you walk down the streets. Itâs too calm for an autumn afternoon in London.
âBlonde suits youâ you say as you stop at a corner. Thereâs a chuckle behind you.
âThough Iâd fool youâ Natasha says, coming out of the shadows and standing next to you.
âIâm not easily fooled. Itâs nice to see youâ
âLikewiseâ the woman nods.
Itâs been almost two years since part of the Avengers have been on the run. Your abilities have made you an especially important target, so you spend most of the time hiding on your own. Divide and conquer.
âAnd how are things?â you say. Itâs been a month since you spoke with Wanda, and you donât know if Natasha knows.
âGreat. Theyâre about to get even betterâ she sighs. âIf you donât mind, we need to borrow Wanda. Could use your help as wellâ
âWait, what? Wanda is not with meâ you look at Natasha, alarmed.
âShe left two days ago⊠the same she always does when she meets youâ
âDid she say whereâŠ?â Natasha shakes her head no and you feel like throwing up. You canât lose her, not now.
âSteveâ the woman calls through her burner, but is interrupted. âUnderstood, weâre on our wayâ Natasha turns to you. âCome on, we have a leadâ
â
The joy of reuniting with Steve is short lived, because your mind is reeling with the possibilities of what could have happened to Wanda.
Was she captured by the US? Did HYDRA find her? Youâre not sure which one of those is worse.
You also think back to your last conversation. How you offered her to stay together, have your own place away from everything⊠a future in the middle of uncertainty.
Guilt invaded your mind. What if she was overwhelmed by your proposal and left to think things through?
âWe have an alien aircraft and four subjectsâ Sam informs. The four of you descend from the Quinjet, Natasha holding on to you. You set her down gently, and you both jump right in to fight the aliens.
Wanda looks at you with relief, and then a flash of panic crosses her features.
As you spot a cut in her forehead, your patience runs out, and you use the alienâs own blade to cut its head off. The weapon floats in the air as you manipulate it with your powers, sending it across the train station to knock down another alien that Natasha was fighting.
Thereâs an exchange between your friends and the creatures, but youâre too busy walking to Wanda.
Sheâs not alone. Vision is holding on to her hand, looking up at her as ifâŠ
No, that canât be.
âY/Nâ Wanda pleads when everything clicks for you.
Wanda and Vision, together. For how long, who knows, but long enough for her to leave you behind without a word. She risked getting caught just to see him, all the while you were the one putting your neck on the line to make sure she was safe.
âPleaseâ she sighs when you step back.
âDonâtâ you shake your head, going around the corner to hide yourself from the team. Leaning against a wall, you pinch the bridge of your nose, holding back tears. The feeling of betrayal burns your throat as a sob escapes from your mouth. You try to stiffle it, breathing to calm yourself down.
A hand rests on your shoulder, and you donât need to open your eyes to know who it is.
âIâm sorryâ Natasha says, wiping away another tear that rolls down your face. âIâm really sorry, Y/Nâ
âI can find my way back from hereâ you say after a beat of silence. You wonât spend another moment with Wanda.
âWell, thatâs not gonna workâ Steve says, joining you. Thereâs compassion in his eyes, but also a sense of urgency. âNew York has been targeted as well. Time to assembleâ
â
The trip to Wakanda will take at least 6 hours. This aircraft is smaller and slower than the Avengersâ Quinjet. You understand theyâve had to lay low and make the best of the resources they can find.
This also means youâre left with fewer places to hide from Wanda.
You go to the back of the jet, sitting on the floor. Itâs cold and uncomfortable, but you donât care. The silence is defeaning, Steve coordinating with Natasha in a low voice, Wanda reassuring Vision while you refuse to look her way.
âWeâre almost thereâ Natasha says after a few hours.
âI can tellâ you nod, stretching.
âHow?â
âThe vibranium. I feel it. Itâs a little overwhelmingâ
âHow so?â
âIâm used to sensing different materials that can be manipulated by my powers. Theyâre everywhere. But vibranium is so rare so itâs not part of my⊠filter. Iâm just not used to its presenceâ
âIs it uncomfortable?â Natasha says with a frown and you shake your head. She nods, placing her hand on your shoulder.
As you watch her walk back to the copilot seat, your eyes meet Wandaâs. You look away, swallowing to keep the tears at bay.
Once you arrive, the team meets, reaching out to everyone that can join the impending battle. You barely register the conversation, looking out the window. Itâs a nice view.
Thereâs talk about how to destroy the Mind Stone while keeping Vision alive.
âYou should destroy it while we still canâ he asks Wanda.
âBut youâll dieâ
Good.
Thereâs a gasp and you turn around, looking at Wanda. Natasha stares too, confused, which confirms that You didnât say it out loud, only thought about it.
âThatâs too much, even for youâ Wanda says.
âGet the fuck out of my head, then. If you want warm and fuzzy thoughts, maybe donât cheat on me, Wandaâ
The silence hangs in the room, and you leave, knowing your presence is only making it worse for everyone. Steve asked you to come and fight, not put on a show.
You stand at the first line of defense, next to Natasha, Steve and Bucky. As soon as the alien aircrafts show up, you bring them down, or make them crash against each other.
Once Thor joins the fight and takes over, you direct your attention to hand to hand combat. Using their own weapons against them, you keep the aliens at bay, clearing the path for Natasha and Steve.
âIâve had enough of youâ one of the aliens you saw in Edinburgh jumps, and theyâre too quick, punching you and throwing you across the field, leaving you out of breath. That and the exhaustion from using your powers for such an intense fight make you dizzy, and youâre not sure youâll be able to stand up in time.
Red wisps of magic throw the alien against a machine, killing them instantly.
âAre you ok?â Wanda runs to your side. Up until now, she had stayed next to Vision.
âIâm fineâ you lie. Sheâs about to argue with you when everything goes quiet.
Thanos, you hear someone whisper, and you immediately turn around. A chill runs down your spine as a gigantic figure shows up in the middle of the battlefield.
âIâm too tired to fly all the way there. Throw me and then get back to the stoneâ
âYouâre too weakâ she protests.
âJust do itâ
Wanda listens and you join Thor, Steve close behind. You close your hands in fists, so Thanoâs armour closes around his own body, crushing him. As Thor wields his axe, you pull away the gauntlet, throwing it to TâChalla. He carries it, putting distance between it and Thanos.
The creature letâs out a groan, throwing you against a tree while Thor pushes the axe against his neck. His arms shake with the force he is exerting, but itâs not enough.
Reaching forward, you use your powers to push down, moving the weapon further down his neck. You begin to see black spots, exhausted from the physical exhertion.
Thankfully, Steve shows up, delivering a final blow that separates Thanosâ head from his body.
Youâre too tense to let go, fearing heâll be able to grow a second head. Itâs only until Natasha runs to your side that you drop the headless body.
Out of breath, you fall to your knees, trying to stop shaking.
âAre you ok?â Natasha asks, inspecting every inch of your body.
âFineâ you mutter. Then, you bend over and throw up blood. âOk, maybe notâ
â
Shuri is next to your bed, checking your vitals. Sheâs been making her rounds between Vision and you. It seems like sheâll be able to separate the stone from the droid.
âHow is she?â Natasha asks, looking at you. Itâs been 12 hours since you passed out.
âSheâs stable. Her body needs to recover. It was overexhertion from exceptional use of her power, there are no other injuries. But I am told she can heal faster than a regular person, soâŠâ
âYeahâ Natasha nods, sighing. âSheâs strong. Iâm just worriedâ
âIt will be fine, agent. The price of saving the universeâ
You wake up the next night, in a dark room lit only by the monitor that keeps your vitals visible. You feel weak and thirsty, but you also know you have the get out of here.
Leaving the room behind, you walk out of the building when a voice stops you.
âYouâre upâ Wanda says and goes after you when you keep walking. âWait, what are you doing? You canât leaveâ
âI canât stay here. Iâm an outlawâ
âIâm sure that will change now that youâve saved the universe. Come on. You need your restâ Wanda takes your arm and you yank it away, as if her touch burns.
âDonât act like youâre concerned for me. You donât care about me at all, Wandaâ
âThatâs not trueâŠâ
âHow long?â you finally turn to her, and hold her stare as a tear rolls down her cheek.
âSix monthsâ
You nod, feeling like you might throw up again for a very different reason.
âHope youâre very happy with him. Goodbyeâ
âNo, wait! I didnât mean for it to happen⊠I didnât want to hurt youâ
âAnd yet here we areâ you mumble, wiping away the tears that run down your face. âGo be with him. Weâre done hereâ
You use the little strenght you have to turn invisible, hoping that will be enough to stop her from following you.
Still, Wanda stays glued to her spot, sobbing quietly.
âIs Y/N ok?â Natasha rushes to your room. âWhere is she?â
âSheâs goneâ
âWhy did you let her leave? Sheâs too weak to do anythingâ
âI couldnât stop herâ
âI wonder why that isâ Natasha bites back and Wanda glares at her.
âDonât talk to me like that, Natasha, you have no ideaâŠâ
âI do, actually. She risked her life to keep the government away from us. She was alone for two years while we protected you, Wanda. Youâre the one that screwed up here and itâs on you if something happens to herâ Natasha says in an even tone, as if sheâs bored with Wandaâs childish complaints. âYour precious robot is ready. Go be with him. The rest of us will clean after your messâ
Itâs been a month.
Youâre in Norway, in the middle of nowhere. No internet, radio or phone. Youâre clueless about what happened after the Battle of Wakanda and honestly, couldnât care less.Â
All you do is go around the forest, think about Wanda and hate her.
You miss her terribly, but itâs not like the other times, when you were apart, knowing youâd see her again. Thereâs no reunion or anticipation to hold her in your arms again. To hear her laugh and feel her lips on yours.
That part of your life is done for good. Thereâs nothing left.
The rain starts in the middle of your run, so you create a force field to shield you from the drops. As you approach the trailer, you notice the door is ajar.
Alerted, you go inside, ready to attack.
Natasha is fast asleep in your bed.
âHeyâ you nudge her with your foot and she grumbles.
âYou took foreverâÂ
âWell, thereâs nothing else to do around here so Iâm usually gone for hoursâ you explain. âWanna go for a swim?â
âThe water is freezing, are you insane? Oh, never mind, you are!â she punches your arm and you laugh.
âWhat are you on about, Romanoff?â
âYou left Wakanda half dead. And for a moment I thought you were, it took me forever to find youâÂ
âHow did you find me?â you wonder, taking off your wet sneakers, leaning against the wall while Natasha sits up, crossing her legs.Â
âMcDonaldâs security cameraâ
âI do love me some friesâ you sigh. âSo, what are you doing here?â
âJust checking to see if youâre okâ
âIâm aliveâ you shrug your shoulders. âThatâs about itâ
Natasha stares for a little too long, and you fidget under the intensity of her green eyes. You know what she means, but you refuse to mention Wanda or your break up.
âCome home with meâ she pleads, her voice soft. Youâre surprised at her vulnerability.Â
âI canât stand to watch her with that toaster every single dayâ
âTheyâre not in New YorkâÂ
âWhere are they, then?â
âDoes it matter?â she challenges you. Of course, it doesnât. Itâs not your business. Not anymore. You sit next to her, bringing your knees to your chest.
âI was barely an Avenger, and the Compound⊠I donât know, Nat. I donât feel like I belong anywhere anymore. Especially in places where we were togetherâ
âWho said anything about the Compound? Iâm in my thirties, I figured having a bunch of roommates was too much. Iâm living in my own place now. And looking for someone to split the rent with, since I have very good taste and itâs in an expensive areaâÂ
âI thought roommates were too much for youâ you say with a smile.
âMultiple, yes. One, I can handleâÂ
You sigh, looking around you. Youâve been miserable and bored out of your mind. At some point, youâll have to live again. And if youâre gonna hate life, might as well do it in a city where you can get decent food.
âOkâ you nod, smiling when she extends her hand to seal the deal.
âYou better not leave wet towels in the bathroom floorâ she warns you.
â
âYou lied to meâ you grumble, giving the wall a second coat of paint. Natasha ignores you and you glare. âYou just wanted someone whoâd help you paint the place for freeâ
âAbsolutely not!â Natasha shakes her head no.Â
Except, maybe she left out how the apartment needed some work and there was nothing on it except the walls. Youâre being annoying, but you actually donât mind. This is the first time in your life where you get to decide how to live. It also helps to get your mind of everything that happened in the last month. When youâre assembling furniture and arguing over color palettes, heartbreak is not at the forefront of your mind.
You have not settled on a couch, so youâre still using the one you got from the Compound. Natasha insists that it doesnât have to be anything too expensive, but you keep saying a good living room is the soul of any great apartment.
âItâs not like weâre having a lot of people coming over, weâre both lonersâ
âAll the more reason to get a nice couch. We watch movies every night in the living roomâÂ
âIâm picking the movie tonight, by the wayâ
âYou already had your chanceâ you mumble. âThose privileges have been revoked for the rest of the weekâ
You had to sleep with the lights on after a marathon of all those Insidious movies she likes so much.
But still, you let her choose the movie because itâs nice and thereâs no point in fighting with the one person whoâs going out of her way to keep you company in your misery. After the movieâs done, she stands up, stretching her arms.Â
âIâm calling it a nightâ
âOkâ you smile, taking over the entire couch and covering yourself with the blanket. Natasha stares. âWhat?â
âYouâve been sleeping in the living room. Donât say itâs because of the movie, itâs been happening since you got here, Y/Nâ
âI⊠uhâ you scratch the back of your neck nervously. âMy room feels⊠lonely. Here I can listen to the sounds of the street. And sometimes when you go to the kitchen I hear your footsteps and feel less⊠horrible. Itâs stupidâ
âItâs notâ she shakes her head. âWeâll get a new couch tomorrowâÂ
âAlrightâ
âGood night, Y/Nâ
âNight, Natâ
â
People walk past you and you ignore them as you sit, Natasha to your right.Â
âPass the popcornâ you say and she pretends to grab something from the air, handing it over to you. âIâm not feeling itâÂ
âItâs a nice couchâ Natasha protests, trying to be patient. She has a feeling the couch is a metaphor for your love life, but youâre being impossible in your shopping trip.
âItâs not the couchâ you insist, pulling her up and walking around the shop. You mumble a number of things as you inspect different furniture. The color isnât right, itâs itchy, itâs too small.
âWeâre getting close, I can feel itâ you promise, walking backwards to look at Nat.
âWatch where youâre goingâŠâ
Too late, as you trip over and fall on your back. You yelp, landing on a cream colored sofa that feels perfect.
âAre you ok?â Natasha hurries over and you laugh, pulling her towards you by the hand. Itâs big enough to fit the both of you when you lie down on your side. âWow, this is greatâÂ
âRight?â you snuggle next to her, sighing. âWe found it, NatâÂ
âYeah, we didâ she smiles. âLetâs take it homeâÂ
You celebrate, hugging her until a store clerk comes by and ask if you need help. Natasha blushes as she breaks apart, confirming youâre buying it. Her hand never leaves your back as she speaks to the clerk.Â
âWe should celebrateâ you say as you leave the store, not dwelling too much on why buying furniture makes you so damn happy.
âIâd love to, but I have a missionâ Natasha sighs.
âOh. I understandâÂ
The universe might have been in danger, but the world -and the bad guys- certainly didnât stop. The Avengers were still operating, albeit with more freedom than before.
âWeâll do something when Iâm backâ she promises and you nod.Â
You can handle a day alone, right?
The apartment feels empty without her and you canât help but think about the past few months. You isolated yourself, then Natasha brought you back to the city, where you focused on fixing your apartment.Â
Sooner or later, youâd have to face the reality of your situation.Â
Wanda wasnât part of your life or future anymore. Sitting around doing nothing was not an option in the long run.
Which is why you show up at the Compound first thing in the morning, knocking on Steveâs door.Â
âNatasha wonât be back until later todayâ he says as you sit in front of him.Â
âI know. I wanted to talk to you about⊠coming back to the teamâÂ
âWeâd love to have you, Y/N. Your skills are incredibly helpful on the field, and weâve all seen that youâre very loyal. I know how much you risked to protect us as we were on the runâÂ
âI feel a but comingâ you say and Steve laughs.
âI just want to make sure youâre doing it for the right reasons. Because you want to, not because you feel like thereâs no other place to go toâ
âI think I can be useful, in a way only few people can. I mean, what am I going to do with magnetism manipulation? Work as a barista?â
âFair enoughâ he nods, leaning forward. âWelcome backâÂ
You have the presence of mind to ask him to hold off on telling Natasha, because you want to let her know yourself. It may be silly, but you make dinner and get her favorite wine as you wait for her to be back from the mission.
âWhat smells so good?â she greets, closing the door behind her. Sheâs out of her work clothes, wearing jeans, a simple white tee and leather jacket.
âI made chicken alfredoâ you say, moving the pasta around as you turn off the stove.
âSmells deliciousâ she looks over your shoulder, placing her hand on your lower back as she reaches for two plates and wine glasses.
During dinner, you listen to Natasha talk about the mission and how Sam and Bucky canât get along even after everything theyâve been through.Â
âIâm telling Steve to keep his boyfriends under controlâ
âSpeaking of⊠Steveâ you put your fork down, nervous all of the sudden. âIâm rejoining the Avengersâ
Natasha chews for a moment, sips from her glass and wipes the corner of her mouth. Once sheâs done, she sighs, looking up.
âIâm gonna kill himâ
âWhat? Who?â
âSteve! This is low, even for him. This is why I didnât want to leave for a mission just yet. I suspected heâd find a way to guilt you into thinking you owe the world somethingâ
âWait, no. Thatâs not what happened. Nat, listen to meâ you plead, reaching for her hand and forcing her to sit down. âI went to see him this morning. Maybe Iâm just⊠done with moping around and doing nothing. I canât go like this forever. Plus, weâd get to go on missions together, right? Or maybe not, youâll get sick of me, we already share an apartmentâ
Natasha calls for you, the way she says your name full of care and gentleness.
âIs this what you want?â
âYesâ you say, still holding her hand.
âThen Iâm happyâ she nods, smiling as she raises her glass.
â
Life is gentle, if only because you let yourself be. A routine develops, with training, missions, dinner and movies. Sometimes you go out, sometimes you cook for Natasha.Â
The constant is each otherâs presence. And whenever she has to be away on a solo mission, you find comfort in the things she leaves behind, like her clothes. She doesnât question anything the first time she comes back home and finds you napping in the couch, wearing one of her hoodies.
Natasha has also accepted every bouquet, commenting that it will look beautiful in the kitchen table. Sheâs right, but thatâs not why you buy them; itâs because youâre enamored by her smile as she inspects each flower.Â
Home takes on a different meaning. Itâs not just the apartment you share, itâs the mornings when Natasha comes back from her run with your favorite muffins; the days you find your favorite cookies in a grocery bag and those times when Nat insists on cleaning after eating whatever it is you prepared and she listens to you talk about your day as she washes dishes.
One day, as Natasha comes back from training new recruits, you greet her at the door. Her smile is gentle, but distant.Â
âI was wondering if⊠youâd like to go out tonight?â you ask, sensing this isnât the best time but you also know youâll chicken out if you donât do it now.Â
âIâm kinda tired. Iâll probably take a shower and call it a nightâ
âOh, yeahâ you nod, fidgeting with your hands.
âIâm sorry. Itâs been a weird day. My mindâs a messâ Natasha steps forward, reaching for your hand.
âIt doesnât have to be today. What I meant was⊠would you like to go on a date with me?â you finally look up, trying to decipher her expression.
Natasha smiles and you sigh with relief.
âHow about tomorrow?â
âSounds perfectâ
Thatâs exactly how the evening goes. Youâve shared so many nights together, but thereâs something different in the air. Itâs electric and it makes your head spin, craving more each time her hand touches yours.
âNext one is on meâ she promises when you insist on paying for dinner. You lean against her, until her arm goes around your shoulders.
âSo, thereâs gonna be a next one?âÂ
âIâd like that, yesâ Natasha nod and you blush, practically hiding in her arms. She laughs, kissing your temple. The walk home is quiet, but not in an uncomfortable way.
Inevitably, your mind goes to your previous relationship. Truth be told, most of the time you spent with Wanda was brief and under difficult circumstances. There were never dates or any semblance of a normal life. Thereâs no way of knowing if youâd had worked out together. But, for the first time in six months, it doesnât hurt to think about what you lost.
You canât imagine your life without Natasha.
âOne episode, thatâs allâ you argue playfully as you go up the stairs, hoping Natasha wants to watch the show you were binging the other day.
âWe have an early morning tomorrowâÂ
âIâll make it worth your timeâŠâ you say, laughing.
âY/Nâ a different voice calls from the end of the hallway. You look back, your eyes meeting Wandaâs. Natasha doesnât seem as surprised.
âWanda, what are you doing here?â
âI came back a few days agoâŠâ the girl turns to Natasha, upset. âYou didnât tell her I was hereâ
âI was hoping youâd leave her aloneâ Natasha admits, avoiding your eyes.
âIs that really the only reason?â Wanda looks intently at the way youâre holding Natashaâs hand.
âWhat is that supposed to mean?â Natasha steps forward, but you pull her back.
âItâs not worth it, Natâ
âY/N, I just need five minutes. Aloneâ Wanda asks, focusing entirely on you. You can tell that Natasha feels defeated as you nod, but still goes inside without another word, the door closing behind her.
âFive minutesâ you say, crossing your arms. You miss Natashaâs warmth as soon as she leaves.
âI came back to say Iâm sorry. To say that I think I made a mistakeâ
âYou hurt me. I think that was a mistake, yes. Is that all?â
âThese past few months I⊠I have tried to convince myself that what I did was not so bad, or that it was meant to be between Vision and me. But lately, Iâve wondered if it wasnât only the stone. The connection was so strong between us, but now that the Mind stone is goneâŠâ
âNow youâre bored and coming back to meâÂ
âItâs not like thatâÂ
âWhatever it is, Iâm not interested, Wanda. Iâve moved on, worked on myself. Found someone who makes me happier than Iâve ever been. Iâm sorry, truly, that things didnât turn out the way you wanted. But coming back to me is not an option. That door is closed for goodâÂ
âOf courseâ she sighs, a tear rolling down her cheek. âIâm sorry for interrupting your date, Iâll leave nowâ
âWandaâ you call as she walks down the hall. âI really hope you can find happiness againâ
With that, you walk into your apartment.Â
âCan we talk?â you say, approaching Nat. She smiles sadly.
âLook, I understand. Wandaâs the one. Iâm sorry I didnât tell you she was here⊠I guess I just wanted to be a little selfish and have one date with youâ
You sigh, sitting down next to her.
âSheâs gone now. Iâm not⊠whatever it is I felt for her, itâs over now, Nat. Iâm sorry if I made you feel insecureâ you place your finger under her chin, making her look up. âI like that you sing while you wash the dishes. I know your favorite flowers are tulips. Iâd watch twenty horror movies just to see you smileâ she chuckles at that, reaching for your hand. âIâd do anything to give you a fraction of the happiness youâve given me, Natashaâ
âItâs hard to believe, thatâs all. Iâve never been easy to loveâÂ
âAnd yet, itâs the only thing thatâs kept me going for this long. Your love. Will you let me pay it back?â
âYesâ she nods, her nose rubbing against yours as you lean forward, kissing her gently at first, and then pushing her until sheâs laying on the couch. She pulls you closer, eager for more.Â
âI did say Iâd make it worth your timeâÂ
You laugh against Natashaâs lips, feeling how sheâs smiling into the kiss.
âLucky for us, we have the best couch in all of New York City, and all the time in the worldâ
âYes, we doâ you confirm, kissing her until youâre both out of breath. âAnd we have each otherâ
âThat tooâ Natasha nods, her hand on your cheek.
And youâd have each other, in the home you built.

ăăđăâčăâăïž”ăâă too familiar âą
pairing rafe cameron x kook! female reader
summary you and rafe make up after your first big fight.
this is a blurb in the home before dark universe, inspired by this ask!
ËË°âą*ââ·
You stare up at Rafe, your expression a mixture of hurt and frustration.
Youâd had a nice day. You went out on his boat into the gentle waves. You shared laughs and kisses. But now, youâre at a party, standing opposite each other by the wall, tension thick between you.
You arrived with him about an hour ago and kissed his cheek before telling you were going to find your friends. You spent some time with them and just found him in the crowd again.
When you greeted him with a smile, his eyes flitted away.
âWhatâs wrong?â you say.
Rafe takes a deep breath, his jaw tensing.
âNothing,â he lies. Youâre the only person in this world who he tries to keep his anger from. Heâd rather you never be the target of any of his rage.
Unconvinced, you cross your arms and tilt your head. His cold demeanor is reminding you of all the countless times he brushed you off before you got together. You thought youâd moved past it, but right now, it hurts a bit too much to be fully healed.
âIs it because I went to hang out with my friends?â you ask.
âNah,â he mumbles carelessly, eyes still off of you.
âRafe.â
âWhat?â he says sharply.
âWhat is it?â you urge.
âWe came together,â he snaps, an edge to his tone.
You waver. He hardly ever talks like this with you. Youâve seen him cross with other people plenty of times, but not with you. Youâre supposed to be his soft spot, but right now, you feel like just another person who pissed him off.
After almost half a year of being together, youâve had a few minor arguments. But this is starting to feel like the worst one youâve had since you started dating.
âWe did,â you say, defensive. âDoes that mean I canât hang out with my friends for a little?â
âA little,â he repeats with a scoff. You were with them for nearly an hour. He thought heâd be spending the night with you, but you couldnât wait to leave his side as soon as you arrived.
Rafe has been needy at times, but it never bothered you. Because heâs never made you feel like you canât have a life outside of him. Heâs never been controlling like this.
âWe were together all day,â you say. His face flashes with hurt before anger writes itself into his features again.
âGot it,â Rafe mutters. He takes a long drag from his beer, turning away, acting like youâre not even standing there.
âReally?â you sigh.
He refuses to yell at you, to erupt the way his body always pushes him to. His only other option when heâs this angry is to avoid the problem.
He stays silent and you look up at him incredulously, your chest tightening with rejection and the awful, sinking, familiar feeling of someone whoâs supposed to love you trying to have power over you. Trying to make you feel guilty for having friends.
Your ex did this to you all the time. And Rafe knows that.
âI wonât be controlled,â you say, voice shaky.
Rafeâs body flushes with anxiety and he turns to look at you, but youâre already walking away.
He should follow you. He should tell you that thatâs not what he was trying to do. But this last minute of conversation stung him so harshly that he wouldnât even know how to say it.
Your friends ask you why youâre so quiet minutes after you find them again. Eventually, you ask one of them for a ride, since Rafe drove and youâd rather not talk to him right now.
As the night goes on, Rafeâs friends give him shit about how he seems more pissed off than usual. Finally, heâs had enough and has to find you.
Heâs searching through the crowds and when he canât spot you, he pulls out his phone to text you.
Youâre just settling into bed when your phone buzzes on your nightstand.
Did you leave
You look at Rafeâs message, chest heavy. You never thought heâd make you feel this way, like you need space from him.
You know he needs the reassurance that youâre alright. Heâs nothing if not protective.
You reply: yes. iâm home safe. good night
Soon after, he texts: Can we talk?
You stare at your screen until it goes black.
You need to remind yourself that this is Rafe, who looks at you like you put the stars in the sky. Rafe, who makes you feel like nothing can hurt you every time he holds you.
And even though part of you want to go to sleep so you donât have to feel the hurt, you relent, because a bigger part of you wants to be on good terms with your boyfriend.
You reply: ok.
Rafe texts you when heâs in front of your gate. You step out into the warm night. Itâs nearly one a.m. and your parents are asleep, so you quietly rush out of your house and see his SUV at the end of your driveway.
You realize he went home to swap out his motorcycle he drove to the party, likely so youâd have a place to sit and talk. He does little thoughtful things like this and it already softens the frustration youâre feeling from him.
The soft car light pools over the interior when you open the passenger door, casting shadows over the planes of his face. You settle in the cushioned seat, shutting the door as quietly as you can, and clasp your hands in your lap.
âHey,â Rafe says. He stares at you, watches the light fade to black over your sorrowful expression.
âHey.â
Itâs awkward. New. Standing on shaky ground together like this. Since you became a couple, you havenât shared a moment like this.
He turns his key, shutting off the idling engine, stillness between you.
âYou think Iâd do that?â he finally mumbles. Your eyes start to slowly focus in the dark.
âWhat?â you ask.
Rafe stares ahead. You study his strong profile in the darkness. His Adamâs apple bobs with his hard swallow.
âTry to control you,â he says.
âIt felt like it,â you say. âIt was like you were mad at me for having friends. Like Iâm not allowed to see them.â
âNo,â he mutters. He pinches the bridge of his nose. It hurts that youâd think of him ever doing that to you. âI wouldnâtâŠâ
He grips the bottom of steering wheel, even though heâs not going anywhere.
The pained expression on his face is enough to tell you that he didnât intend to make you feel like that.
Youâre both aware of the harsh implication. You donât have to say it out loud. Youâre comparing him to your ex. He knows it.
âOkay,â you whisper softly. âOkay.â
âWhyâd you have to say it like that?â he says with a hint of a whine. âLike spending all day with me was so fucking bad?â
It opened a gash in him, being made to feel like heâs a chore to the person he loves most.
âI didnât mean it like that,â you say.
âIâm sorry, alright?â Rafe says, eyes finally on you. âI know itâs - it sounds stupid, but youâre the only person I canâŠâ
His lips screw up. You know itâs what he does every time heâs trying not to cry.
âThe only person I like myself with,â he admits. âI just wanted to hang out with you and the minute we got thereâŠâ
He dips his head and you tilt yours, trying to meet his eyes again. Maybe you did leave him abruptly after you arrived at the party. But he didnât have to be so cold to you.
âI get it,â you say. âSorry. I wish you just told me then. I canât take it when you ignore me. It makes me feel like⊠before.â
Rafeâs brows pinch together. Before. When he avoided you every chance he got, shot down your every attempt at speaking to him. He didnât think of it that way.
âIâm sorry,â he grumbles. âIâm sorry. Donât be mad at me. I canât have you mad at me. I swear, I didnât⊠I wasnât thinking that you canât have friends.â
You nod. You know he finds solace in you. Youâre home to him. You can take that he gets clingy sometimes. It was the fear of him trying to have some authority over you that made you so upset.
When you place your soft palm on the back of his hand, he flips it to squeeze yours. His head is still hanging, but slowly, he leans over the console and kisses your forehead.
He keeps his lips there through a few breaths, then pulls back, shifting to rest his cheek against your temple.
âDonât be mad at me,â he rasps. âIâm sorry.â
You nod, smelling his aftershave, feeling his warm skin.
âIâm not mad,â you say. You raise your hand to rest it against his cheek, stroking with your thumb. âItâs okay. I understand.â
âCan we just sit here?â Rafe asks. The thought of you getting out of the car and leaving him digs a hole into his chest. He canât believe how hard it is for him to be away from you. How scared he is of you abandoning him.
âYes,â you say. âI love spending time with you, okay? Donât ever think I donât.â
He nods, his hair brushing against you as it hangs down his forehead. Your words bring warmth to him in a way nothing else can.
You shut your eyes as he shifts to nuzzle into your neck, his breaths hot. You run your hand over the back of his neck with languid strokes, feeling his soft hair on your fingers.
âI love you,â he says, muffled.
âI love you, too,â you say.
Moments like these, you realize just how sad and vulnerable Rafe really is. Beneath his anger is a man who just wants one thing: to be loved. And you know youâll spend forever giving it to him.

:*Trigger Warning for Abuse:** An analysis of the nuanced depiction of abuse dynamics in *Baldur's Gate 3*. Please skip if youâre uncomfortable with this topic or you hate long rants <3
**Cazador at the Head of the Table, and His Forced Family, with Astarion as the Scapegoat**
Cazador is one of the best-written abusers in fiction, and Astarion is one of the best depictions of a non perfect survivor. Showcasing how abusers systematically break down their victims in a way that is thoughtful and non-voyeuristic, and how this may effect the victim after.
Astarion often receives criticism for his behavior. Much if it valid. I donât seek to excuse his actions or speak about him as if he were a real person, But to break down this amazingly written narrative and how his experiences shape his character and a depiction of a non perfect victim. It's great to see actions having consequences in the story and being the driving force in chatecter development and I think it was handled very respectfully
One of the most compelling aspects of Astarion's story is the depiction of the "scapegoat" abuse tactic. Where a caregiver selects one child as the primary target of ridicule and abuse. Astarion says, "He took a special pleasure in my pain. He said my screams sounded sweetest." Often, the scapegoat is the child who most reminds the abuser of themselves when they were most vulnerable, or has similarities to the abuser of the parent or even someone they witnessed being abused when they were a child. The abuser uses this child to demonstrate the consequences of disobedience, and as a way of bonding the other children against the scapegoat, often by forcing the other children to engage in abuse themselves. The parent will inflict the trauma they were exposed to when they were most vulnerable on their child in a twisted way to re-gain their own power and autonomy buy projecting it onto someone elses. Acting out scenarios where they felt weak but now they are the one with all the power.
Cazador's tactics of infantilization are particularly gut-wrenching. He calls Astarion a "stupid little boy" and forces him to call him "father," undermining his belief in his ability to make adult decisions on his own while simultaneously also forcing him into adult work and physical abuse. A way to break down his self esteem and take away his autonomy. This adds another level to Cazador's twisted, intimate abuse.
It's evident when you ask if Astarion called Cazador "master" in the bedroom, and he reacts negatively. It is also implied in the dialogue, "One final thrust... and I'll be rid of you..." as Astarion stands over Cazador, ready to stab him with a phalic symbol and Cazador in a submissive position.
In a Shadowheart playthrough, we see how Astarion seeks someone to follow because he doesnât know how to think for himself. Auntie Ethel remarks that he misses his chains, and he admits he doesn't know how to make his own decisions. In Astarion's dream, you learn one of Cazador's rules is that Astarion must stay by his side unless told otherwise. We also see that Cazador regularly dined with Astarion, serving him putrid rats. He says "I have spent two centuries with You, and that should be punishment enough," which is quite an intimate insult. In non of these are the other spawn mentioned. He also mentions his sarcasm and jokes, something you wouldn't really think Cazador would permit. This suggesting an intense, twisted co-dependency. A lot of time spent alone together. As what? His child? His slave? His lover? It's sickening. Cazador seemed to want to fill every potential key roll in Astarions life. This is actually pretty common in adults relationships.
The extent of physical abuse is further revealed when Astarion sees the mad doctor in the House of Healing and remarks, "he's just like Cazador." The narrator says, "If you're late, he will flay you... again," and Astarion states, "Sometimes he would have us submit to torture. Other times he would have us torture ourselves."
So, why does Cazador do all this? Beyond sadistic pleasure and rituals off higher power, I believe it's driven by a fear of abandonment. His goal is to strip Astarion of any autonomy so he would return even if freed. When speaking to Cazador alone, he's convinced Astarion will come back because he cannot think for himself. Cazador wants to be the center of Astarion's life, and truly believes he is. A narcissist needing to see himself reflected in others, he required Astarion by his side to validate his awful existence. If Astarion leaves, Cazador feels he's losing an extension of himself. That Astarion is his and his alone to kill.
I also believe he genuinely wants to play house. That he wants a picture perfect family. We don't know much about Cazador before the game, only that he was from a vampire family. That his niece refused to partake. It's quite clear he felt like he was missing something in his family. We know his master committed acts of cruelty far beyond what he did to his own spawn, impaling him for ten years and draining his friend Infront of him. Surly a year of solitude is like being sent to your bedroom without supper compared to that? By Cazadors logic, he's far kinder than he was ever treated. He's been kinder and more loving than his own family. His children should be grateful that he protected them from what he went through. He believes his children are spoiled and if anything he has been to soft. After all, he gave thim his families birth right far above their station, eternal life. He gave them a family that will never abandon them. What more could they want?
And if course, we as plays see this cycle continues with AA, who says he will be a far kinder master he'd never make his dear lover eat rats. They wouldn't be his child, more a pampered pet. Compared to how Astarion was treated, what more could they want?
And how very true to live that an abuser will preach about how much worse they had things and how lucky their victims are. How soft they must be to complain.
This gives us a clear picture of Astarion at the start: someone with a fragile sense of self, preferring to see others tortured rather than be the one in the chair, and looking for someone to follow. He'll fake a smile to keep them around. While this doesn't excuse his cruelty, it explains it; Astarion is free for less than a day when you meet him. There are no perfect victims, and unlearning brainwashing takes time. Reducing Astarion to "evil" or "good" overlooks the complexity of a character who could become either an abuser or a liberator.
What I appreciate most is that Astarion's past doesn't vanish when Cazador dies; he still carries the scars, but in a positive playthrough, there is hope. Astarion has the chance to do better, starts making his own choices, and sometimes gets it wrong.
Crucially, the abuse is never voyeuristic. It is always shown from the survivor's perspective, focusing on its effects on their lives. It's always clear when a player choice disrespects his growth and autonomy. Cazador and Astarion are never framed to titillate or as a mind of grousome special to the viewer, unlike in shows like *13 Reasons Why* or Ramsey Bolton in *Game of Thrones*. The game handles the topic with a lot of care. Infact the only time we see Cazador in person is when we have the chance to stop him. We never see Astarion subjected to something we can alter in some way.
Also, we do hear of Astarions bravery in trying to defy his master and save people. Unfortunately as in the game and real life, people don't always have a choice. Still, in a good ending Astarion can choose to try and help others who have been hurt and use what he has learned to make real change.
The reasons why Cazador is the way he is are another rant entirely. But while I hate him as a person, I adore him as an antagonist. How can a character be written to be pathetic and terrifying at once?
**TL;DR:** *Baldur's Gate 3* presents a complex, nuanced abuse narrative, executed beautifully. Many people overlook or disregard Astarion as an excellent depiction of survival in my opinion.

So in Willowâs debut, itâs established that Abominations is considered as having better career opportunities than Plants. And in hindsight, it makes sense now; Abominations are valued by the coven regime in the way Blight Industries does them, as industrial Abomatons that can be controlled, as a means of military power and not magitech medicine as Alador shows in the epilogue. Belos buys them from Odalia, he practically assimilates Blight Industries.
This is because Abomatons donât think for themselves, theyâre servants that can replace covenscouts in areas that would challenge morality, and they lack the sapience to be targeted. Theyâre beings Belos can control without having to learn more of the magic he despises to do so; All of this is in contrast to how Darius or Amity use Abominations as a reflection of their own skill, the individual.
We see how the Abomatons aid the coven regime, and esp see through the Day of Unity; The Abomatons can be programmed, and do nothing without orders; Theyâre not going to become witches and demons in their own right, theyâll maintain those walls and then do so for the end of time.
They donât need to be targeted for genocide as victims of the draining spell who would be incapacitated, so they can do their job while that happens. They keep witches corralled because the closer to the ritual, the faster the covenbound die. Of course, those who havenât collapsed might try and stop the spell by removing the coven heads, which would place them within weakening proximity anyhowâŠ
But that paranoia over covenbound who arenât yet unconscious is justified; The Abomatonsâ own creator rendered their role in the Day of Unity and the regime as a whole obsolete, because he had the strength away from the ritual to help the kids reach the skull, which allowed King to free the Collector and undo everything.
Plus, Belos is loathe to the isles; He depletes its natural resources, he wants all life to die and devastating the ecosystem is another way to do so. Hunter suggests growing Palistrom wood and heâs furious at the idea. So of course Plant magic is devalued, because itâs focused on life, on sustainability, with keeping others alive.
Itâs the exact opposite of the cold industrialism that will make the Day of Unity happen and leave the land barren afterwards because the Abomatons themselves are barren in that sense, lacking magic and with little to contribute to the ecosystem, if anything. Plant magic is half of nature, the other being Beastkeeping, I wonder if that is also devalued by the regime?
Makes sense the Demon Hunters have to resort to menial city jobs instead of their traditional livelihood, forced to assimilate into an urban society if their environment has been depleted by colonialism. Adds to Darius and Eberwolf being rebels. And with Terra, it shows how much sheâs willing to throw her fellow witches under the bus for utopia.
I remember speculating it since I was a Teenage Abomination; Abominations really is STEM, down to being used for military applications. Given TOHâs critique of the American education system, you can see how this metaphor extends when the work of creating a sustainable society and environment is secondary to destroying enemies and establishing supremacy and capital (As established with CEO Odaliaâs motives).
Because itâs fun and easy to destroy, rather than do the banal yet meaningful work of actually building and healing and feeding people, thinking of how society can be sustainable. Itâs easy to talk about how you can destroy witches zombies in an apocalypse, instead of how to keep a community of survivors alive; All that talk about how dudes bored with their lives dream about being an action hero at the expense of societyâs collapse, without understanding what the world really needs is builders and not destroyers, and that theyâd be nothing without the people who do this âboringâ work, is so very Belos.

Welcome to a long one.
The Ciwan empire is the fastest-growing sloman power ever since the war of continents and the first to discover a form of gunpowder (thanks to their enemies being uniima lls who have been using it long before).
But even with that advantage (among slomen), the Ciwan armies are iconic for a different reason. That being the Kuiqua-trained units that Sun-cutters come from.
These units have traditionally existed for hundreds of years but are slowly just becoming a symbol for show because of the political and battling changes in the world. However, you will still see them from time to time ripping people to pieces.
Just like the majority of sloman military groups the unit relies on intense teamwork, they need constant communication and preplanned routes to deal with the opposing strategy.
The simplified average scene might look something like this:
In one unit of 30 members, three strikers (Sun-cutters) make a plan with their scholars and commanding Fire-catchers (Seconds leaders). After getting to the war zone they wait for their window in which some members spy or communicate with deeper army spies. When they know their target and best strategy they get in. The strikers use hand gestures, clicks, or whistles to save energy while the Seconds forward the orders to the rest with "ground's" (war language), wooden whistles see more use in very large units. Many times, however, often just seeing the movement of the sun-cutters is enough for the whole group to act.
Strikers will sometimes wait behind their heavies (Beasts) if their force isn't necessary (units can be as few as 5 members or as many as 50, the two extremes work very differently). Once the situation calls for it, they bullet their targets, often stabbing talons first and tearing muscles in a swift motion. This may happen multiple times as other unit members engage in direct battle with the target/s or disarm them with specialized tools. Kuiqua units both kill and capture, having healing supplies on their heavies if they need to make sure their target doesn't bleed out (or their own soldiers).
All members of the Kuiquan unit are priests of different levels but all are priests of the dead (ones that speak for their ancestors rather than gods). It's believed lands conquered with these soldiers present will flourish with life. Many former battlegrounds have turned into gardens and crop fields (hopefully they don't keep this up when landmines are invented).
To the image. What you see is a small variety of soldiers. Beasts and fire-catchers have other names and features in their armor that they are known for based on all their roles that can often switch between fights. Only Sun-cutters truly have one name.
Fire-catchers are also sometimes strikers in training and may move up if they prove themselves. Though, more often Sun-cutters rise from the ranks of regular taloned soldiers with enough talent.
-
As mentioned in the image, Sun-cutters tend to be very prideful. Their helmets are an impractical mess that pushes their ears forward. A Ciwan Sloman's ears are very important to them and if they are damaged it's a career-ending event. Still, almost no strikers bind their ears, not wanting to be shamed for cowardness.
an ex-striker
here is the whole picture if you prefer it big
Btw, Kuiqua is the city Neal lives in. He has met or been arranged to meet these units multiple times since Neal himself is stuck classified as a fancy soldier. They are also not uncommon around temples, small talk is required.
Thank you for reading this far! Next I must answer the questions of biology. This has taken me 50 000 years.

A soul, so familiar
Synopsis: Fae Rulie. Heâs swooning and is being equally adorable and dumb about it.
Note: This is my only day off since⊠like what? mid august? No clue when iâll actually have a moment to breathe again. So hereâs the product of me being the largest rulie simp to walk the earth.
ââïœĄđŠč°â§â
Link had a problem, and quite a large one at that. You see, what you must understand is that through his many gruelling adventures, holding the entire triforce, and the general shit show that is his life, he has not much learned about his body. Or at least heâs still rather unfamiliar with the bizarre nature of his fae bloodline.
At most itâs lead for some very funny, if not embarrassing, moments. Like the time heâd accidentally dropped 100 rupees for a single jar of honey, being so craved for sugar heâd decided in some odd part of his mind to pay the man back. And of course that time he drank so much mead and woke up in the middle of a forest he never recalled entering.
There was very little of himself that he was aware of. Aside from his own experiences, he had no way to tell what exactly he was capable of.
For the most part, He was ok with it. After all, it was the source of very little discomfort. Heâd gained a good control of his magic to harm and to heal accordingly, he keeps an extra emergency jar of honey just in case, and tries his hardest to not accidentally make promises. The line between hylian and fae had blurred to the point where he was simply just himself.
Amidst the crowds of people, he didnât feel much different. Of course, they donât get the acute cravings for sugar to where theyâd gladly go bankrupt. And sure, they donât have to worry about uttering deals that literally bargain power over peopleâs souls. But for the large part, Link was normal.
He could experience life as any other person did.
Well, that was before he fell head over heels for you.
He was a dork. That much was expected by everyoneâ including himself. There was no hiding the flush that adorned his freckled cheeks and spread all the way to pointed ears. Everything you said and everything you did was target to fluster him. Watching you dance and cackle by firelight had his heart radiating with warmth, his nerves spitting and cracking with the wood. He wished, quietly, longingly, that one day he could envelop you as wholly had the fire did. To caress your skin with such soft, reverent light and only serve to highlight just how striking you were.
His ears would wiggle just slightly at the sound of your laughter, hardly disturbing the soft curls of light brown hair. Heâd swoon over the music of your laugh, or your voice when caught on something interesting, not noticing how clearly it showed to anyone willing to look.
He bore his genuine, crooked grin. Not just to you, but to the world. He found joy in every little moment in the usually missed corners of his day, because he could find something that tied back to you.
His life had suddenly been filled with so much colour and so many senses that heâd never had or felt before. And as much as the bubbling feeling scared him, he found himself wanting to protect you. He couldnât let you, this burning streak of fire that had given so much depth to his one shot at living, be snuffed out.
He wanted so badly to adorn you in spells and wards to keep you safe from others and their prying eyes. The people of his home are not safe, but perhaps with the right words and the right magic he could keep you safe.
He didnât let himself, he couldnât.
Heâd never whisper a single blessing into your skin if you werenât the one whoâd requested it.
But the feelings persisted. His love for your strengthened without any tending to, as did his desire to protect you, to hide you away and keep you safe and comfortable. And such was his problem: to love you so much in a manner that no hylian could understand.
He doubted even you would understand just how much youâre loved.
Regardless, heâd been an anxious wreck for weeks before he could even begin to come up with the obvious solution to his problem. If it were the fae part of himself that demanded so fervently your company, then perhaps catering to it would ease his yearning.
So he began to leave you gifts. Practical things at first, things he could explain away. Some new tools heâd seen youâd been eyeing, a nicer pack to keep all your belongings together, a fluffier bedroll to provide you good comfort⊠Some clothes he enchanted lightly to keep you safe.
But that slowly shifted. Of course, he only got more giddy the more youâd don the items heâd gotten. Heâd gotten you much more since then, but none of them could compare to the engraved silver ring heâd just gotten.
The band was carved to make two hands holding a heart, an intricately carved crown on top, all set together in a small velvet bag and placed carefully among your items.
He watched happily, swooning over your soft smile as you slipped the ring on and thanked him for it. The kiss on the cheek made him utterly buzz, more than any life spell ever could.
Silver jewellery was the finest gift among the fae. It was their most precious metal and happened to be the most common form to supplement large payments. But this particular ring was notable to the traveller for one particular reason, its use in courtship.
He was over the moon the next few days, unable to even look in your direction without a nervous smile and flushed cheeks. Not only had his dearest love accepted his courtship, but you treat him so softly. His very soul tried to reach out, to cradle and cherish yours when he was too shy to do so.
And for once in the story of his life did he feel the warmth returned.
He could catch similar longing stares and could find trinkets and clothes he doesnât remember buying.
It was almost burning, the sense of being loved. He wasnât aware of how something heâd spent so long pining for could be so foreign. Yet at the same time itâs so homey. Being loved by you felt so routine, so familiar to him that he couldnât find it within himself anymore to be shy, as if in some other lifetime youâd done the same.
As if heâs already bashfully linked pinkies with you or spent sunny afternoons braiding the stems of flowers.
There was a tangible amount of tension between the two of you, the longing hope to be loved as wholly as one felt for the other.
When you finally kissed, your lips were sweeter than any honey and he could convince himself to not let go.

Please zoom in to see small Kakashi! đ He kinda disappeared đđđ
Text translation: "Infinite Tsukuyomi" (çĄéæèȘ)
Drew these in mid-July - when I started doing digital again actually đ€
Took inspo from the Balut - a street food in my country; I hear a lot of people are grossed out by it?? Don't know if this is controversial, but I personally love the dish. Essentially grew up with it after all!
Wanted to draw something that feels a bit creepy but still has a sense of mysticality to it???
Meh, don't know if the feeling got across or not
I thought since Halloween is coming up, might as well post this haha
About the process of drawing these!
These were very fun to draw! I messed around a lot with photoshop to achieve this glowy dusty effect?? From the brushes to the blending options, and maaan the filter gallery đđ Such fun tools to play with.
The main brush I used to achieve the dusty effect is called "KYLE Bonus Chunky Charcoal", in the Kyle Dry Media brush set. If you can, I recommend checking it out! There are definitely other ways to achieve this sort of effect, though. You can probably just use some sort of scatter texture brush and it'd work just fine. Studying is all about trying things out, right? This is like my first experiment with this type of effect, and I was happy at the time. Now looking back, these could most definitely turn out better, no? I really went overboard with just the effect and forgot everything else. The blood and the plate looks horrible man. If you look closely, you can see the sketch lines haha! I got lazy!
Also, for Obito's pose, I relied heavily on a reference I found on pinterest đ I wish I'd changed the pose more tbh, it looks really boring.
And I gotta say, these just look underwhelming in this smaller size. Like reaaaaaally underwhelming. Would love to show you the big version, but oh well! đđđ
Brain vomit time!
I love the prospect (??? is that the right word) of Obito being all god-like and powerful after Tsukuyomi, having control over everybody's dream worlds?? And like he jumps from dream to dream, but stops at Kakashi's and picks it apart???? Observing and tormenting Kakashi with his childhood form that has both sharingan???????
Kakashi would probably be confused with Obito's appearance at first, asking questions like "What are you up to this time, Obito?", but then wouldn't receive any answers??? Like little man would just stare at him creepily, and Kakashi would push this to the back of his mind for a while???
Umm below is the technical stuff, I guess??
My headcanon is that the time span in the dream world is the same as the real world. Meaning, 30 years in the dream world feel incredibly real, with no gap of memories. It's essentially a different timeline. Whether this makes sense or not, who knows haha!
Let's talk about the dream events and how they affect Kakashi! Due to Sakumo and team Minato still living, this Kakashi probably wouldn't be as lax nor sad as in canon?? The relationships and personalities would be different huh???? I'm having a headache thinking about this, so let's just say that: 1. Sakumo lived because the villagers weren't as harsh, but the animosity still remained. Kakashi still developed this obsession with rules, but he doesn't blame his dad as much. 2. Kannabi happened, Kakashi was given the sharingan, along with Obito's ninja way. Team Minato thought that Obito died for a while, but Obito is 'rescued' by Madara, same as canon. 3. Rin would still be targeted by Madara, but Obito came in time to help with the situation, blocking Kakashi's chidori from connecting with Rin's chest, but also knocking Kakashi away. Then, a Mist enemy took advantage of the situation to attack Kakashi, injuring him gravely, to the point where everybody thought he died. With this, Obito activated his Mangekyou and exploded on the Mist enemies, killing them all. Meanwhile, Rin tried to heal Kakashi, just barely saving him. As Obito had dealt with the enemies, there was no need to rush back to the village, and the Sanbi wouldn't be released till then. And so, they waited for Minato to come and help with Rin's seal. (About Obito's Mangekyou activating with Kakashi's death - would that be too far-fetched? My reasoning is that Obito would think that it was his fault Kakashi died, because it was Obito who knocked Kakashi away into the enemy, no?) 4. Because there's no one to become 'Madara' now that Obito came back to the village, Naruto is born, Minato and Kushina live.
5. The Uchiha massacre doesn't happen.
(Everything is incredibly convenient, because I don't have the brain power to make it otherwise, please help đđ) -> In conclusion, this Kakashi resembles the Kakashi of the real world, but less depressed and self-destructive??? He loves his living comrades. My man still has a massive obsession (more like crush lol) with Obito by the way, just like in canon. He just doesn't show it.
-> About Obito of the dream world (I'mma call him Dreambito), he is all sunshine and brightness, but he exhibits some dark thoughts and deep rage from time to time due to the residual effects of Madara's seal on his heart. The seal has been removed though. And he has this obsession with Kakashi's safety, as he almost pushed him to his death once, albeit accidentally.
-> I was debating whether to just start this dream world at the point where Obito got crushed, or to start it at the beginning of Kakashi's life. In the end, I went with the latter, cuz ya know, I like the idea of Kakashi living through a whole life all over again, just to finally come to the realization that it's all a dream. Does that make any sense at all??
Obito (child form - 13) first appears in front of Kakashi at the start of the Naruto series, when Kakashi has officially become the teacher of team 7. (Let's not change this okay, my brain would fry haha I'm not gonna deny that the idea of Obito and Kakashi becoming co-teachers of team 7 isn't incredibly fun though)
After the first encounter with this child Obito, Kakashi begins to have flashes of memories from the real world, and he hallucinates about people's deaths - mostly about the members of team Minato. This young Obito is always in the corner of his vision, most of the time silent, sometimes saying things like "You trash" to Kakashi whenever he encounters Rin, who is whole and grown up in this world.
Kakashi exhibits more destructive behaviors as this goes on, the line between the dream events and the real events slowly blurring. He takes more dangerous solo missions out of the village, and shows strong signs of PTSD, just like in canon.
The two Obitos would contrast each other?? Like Dreambito would be all concerned with Kakashi's decline in health (both mental and physical) and goes to confront and comfort him, many times over because that's how it is with them??? Dreambito might even move in with Kakashi, being the obsessive and protective Uchiha that he is. Meanwhile young Obito would be an absolute asshole, saying all these horrible things to poison Kakashi's mind haha
At this point, Dreambito'd be in the last stage on the journey of becoming Hokage, gaining the all the trust from the Uchiha clan, the village elders and the villagers as a whole. I don't know about Rin, though? Should she be romantically involved with Dreambito or no? Would Kakashi dream that??
I think Kakashi's dream would somewhat focus more on Dreambito being happy and satisfied, to be honest. I know there's Sakumo and team Minato as a whole, but as a degenerate shipper, I love the obsession between themđ„ș
I don't think Obito would directly interfere with what Kakashi is dreaming about, i.e. changing Dreambito's behavior, or like the political situation of the villages (?). But he would most definitely insert himself in Kakashi's psyche, no? Mess it up real good.
Kakashi would slowly realize that he is living a dream world, after all the flashes of memories that Obito generates in his mind. He would most definitely deny it at first though, I think? And then it would reach a point where Kakashi remembers everything from the real world, but he has also lived through 30 something years of the dream world, meaning he'd be in his 60s?? Does that make sense or no?
And so, while Kakashi now knows that everything is a dream, his feelings for everybody in the dream are real. If that's the case, is it really that important anymore that he escapes the Tsukuyomi? Can this dream world really be called fake at this point? Is there even anything in the real world for him to return to?
What's to say 'the real world' isn't a dream at this point?
-> Kakashi would completely close in on himself after this. He still does things that he would normally do, but it'd be all an act. He would feel completely isolated.
-> Dreambito would notice and confront him again, now that they live in the same house??? Kakashi would like say everything is fine and try to act more convincingly, but Dreambito would still know something's wrong????
-> Obito is observing from afar, who knows what his motivation is at this point.
Because this is Kakashi's dream world, I suppose he would have the power to change this world to his will, now that he's aware? This is like a lucid dream situation???
The people in the dream have their own will up until this point, but Kakashi can somewhat change their behavior if he really wants to, whether it's subconsciously or not??? Example: He can probably will Dreambito to kiss him or something lol
So on and so forth!
Man, I'm having waaay too much fun imagining the pain. There are probably like a thousand things that doesn't make sense haha! I do wonder how this sort of storyline should end though, does anybody have any ideas? Personally, I prefer slow burn with a (sort of) happy ending, but ya know, angst all the way is good too! I can't write, but I love thinking about all the things that could happen đđ English isn't my first language, so this might have felt weird to read at some point haha
If anybody wants to develop this, please feel free to do so! And if you've read this far, thank you for reading this absolute brain vomit of mine! I love to yap, as you can tell haha Have a good day!

âI have many namesâ: Halbrand, the Repentant Mairon in âRings of Powerâ
The themes of redemption, second chances and forgiveness are major in Tolkien legendarium. This is due to Tolkienâs Catholic faith, and the belief that no one is irredeemable in the eyes of God, no matter how low they might have fallen.
And we see âRings of Powerâ exploring these themes with Sauronâs character in Season 1. Or better yet, with Halbrand, which is the name the show chose for âRepentant Maironâ (Sauronâs original name) of Tolkien lore.
Nothing is Evil in the Beginning
This is the first quote in âRings of Powerâ, narrated by Galadriel. This is a reference to Elrondâs quote in âFellowship of the Ringâ book: âFor nothing is evil in the beginning. Even Sauron was not so.â
In the beginning of time, in the Days before Days, Mairon (the admirable) was created by Eru (God) as a Maia of Aulë, and he was one of the most powerful Maiar (demigods or angels). He was a Maia of smithing, perfection, order and beauty, with qualities like goodness, purity of heart and loyalty, and a dislike for wastefulness. He helped shape EÀ (the material universe) alongside the Valar and the other Maiar, during the Ainulindalë (the music of the Ainur), and these qualities (smithing, perfection, order and beauty) were, most likely, his contributions.
Due to his power, he was targeted by the Dark Lord Melkor/Morgoth (the most powerful of the Valar), who seduced him, with promises of greater power. Morgoth is the Satan of Tolkien lore; he was envious of Eruâs capacity of creation, and wanted it for himself. Unable to have it, he devoted himself to corrupt it (which included the corruption of several Maiar), and destroy it.
Becoming Sauron
Mairon, being an idealist, betrayed the Valar and joined Melkor, seeing in him the opportunity to make his ideas a reality. He went on to become Morgothâs most devoted servant and chief lieutenant, in charge of Angband fortress, in Middle-earth, during the First Age.
Mairon was corrupted by Morgoth, and reshaped into darkness, and all of his qualities reversed: his love became obsession; of order and perfection into dominion and tyranny; beauty into ugliness and monstrosity (by the breeding of the Orcs), goodness into evil, and his loyalty and purity of heart into treachery and deception, becoming the âgreat deceiverâ. The Elves created the name âSauronâ (the abhorrent), as a mockery of his own.
Eventually, Mairon started to resent Melkor, because their goals turned out to be opposite: while Melkor is chaos and destruction, Mairon is order and perfection. Melkor is brute force, Mairon is the brain. What Melkor wanted to destroy, Mairon wished to perfect. Melkor is chaotic evil, while Mairon is lawful evil.
Maironâs whereabouts are unknown during several periods of time, especially after his defeat at the hands of LĂșthien and Huan, the Hound of Valinor (so itâs uncertain if he was hiding from Morgoth, or if Morgoth locked him up somewhere).
Season 2 of âRings of Powerâ has already began shedding some light on this, in 2x07:
Sauron: Be not afraid. This too shall pass. I promise you, when Middle-earth is healed, and its people see what you and I did here⊠all our sufferings will be worth it. Celebrimbor: âOur sufferingsâ?
Do you know what it is to be tortured at the hands of a god?
Sauron mentioning Morgoth next and how he treated him, seems to indicate thatâs what he meant by âall our sufferings will be worth itâ. And this idea goes on in this dialogue:
Sauron: Sometimes, the pain almost became a reward. Became a game. A contest, to see whose will was the mightier. Celebrimbor: And after all that, you would still choose to inflict the same pain upon me? Sauron: No. You chose it. Not I. Celebrimbor: What?
I already analyzed this scene from Tolkien theological views of this dynamic, but we can also talk about the wild amount of projection Sauron is doing here. Because the core theme of this scene is Morgothâs treatment of Sauron, and how heâs replicating that with Celebrimbor. Which might indicate these were things Sauron himself heard from Morgoth in the past: the pain is a reward; you chose it; you [are] the true author of your own torment.
And Celebrimbor saw through this, which explains his reply to Sauronâs nonsense:
And his advise to Galadriel, in the same episode:
We also see Sauron crying while hearing Adarâs tale, in 2x01: âI was in your place once. In the eldest of the Elder Days. Thirteen of us were chosen to be blessed of Morgothâs hand, with the promise of power. A new birth. I was led up to a dark and nameless peak. Chained and left.â
There are many interpretations on why Sauron cries, but I think itâs because heâs recalling his own experience of being âblessed by Morgothâs handâ, which might have been somewhat similar, but far worse, because Mairon is truly immortal, meaning he can be subjected to every sort of torture imaginable, without truly dying, because he can always re-embody.
And even before any explicit mention of torture, this was already clear when we saw Sauron being resistant to extreme physical pain, hinting itâs something heâs very familiar with: not only he was tortured by Morgoth, but his previous physical form got stabbed into oblivion by the Orcs, without him making a sound.
@love-and-doom asked me why didnât the Valar or other Maiar intervene when Mairon was being corrupted/tortured by Morgoth? Or why didnât AulĂ« tried to get Mairon back? Sauron himself answered to that: because he âchose itâ, and heâs the true author of [his] own torment.
Free will is another major theme in Tolkien lore. And neither the Valar, and less alone any Maia, could do anything without Eruâs permission. And the moment a character sides with evil in Tolkien lore, itâs stuck with the consequences. And this goes for Marion, Adar and Celebrimbor. Because all of these characters are both victims and accomplices of Morgoth (the original source of evil), directly (Mairon and Adar), or indirectly (Celebrimbor).
Which also explains why Sauron hates and resents the Gods so much; he probably feels they have forsaken him, like they did with Middle-earth after the War of Wrath, hence him stepping in to rebuild and heal it (because no other Vala would); symbolizing his own desire of healing himself from Morgothâs corruption.
Sauron in Truth Repented
In 2x01, we saw Sauron getting taught some humility by Adar and the Orcs unionizing against him, when he gets his physical form destroyed, by the means of Morgothâs crown. Afterwards, Sauron is trapped in a cave for centuries, until heâs able to get out.
He, eventually, re-embodies and is able to recover his physical âfair formâ, after centuries as a slimy dark substance.
When Morgoth was defeated, it was as if a great, clenched fist had released its grasp from my neck. And in the stillness of that first sunrise, at last, I felt the light of The One again. And I knew if ever I was to be forgiven... That I had to heal everything that I had helped ruin. Sauron tells Galadriel, 1x08
Soon, we see him brought low, depressed and unsure on what path to take; having a identity crisis. Some centuries trapped in a cave being goo will do that, even to a demigod (Maia).
We see him lingering on Middle-earth, and by the visual clues (wardrobe and sword) it can indicate that he might have dwelled among humans for a unknown period of time, and even found himself work as smith (sword).
The passage of time is not only hinted by his clothes, but when we, the audience, last saw him he was at Forodwaith (Northern Waste), and when he meets Diarmid, heâs in the Southlands; which means, he traveled all the way from the north to the southeast of Middle-earth.
The Trials of Mairon: Diarmid
When Thangorodrim was broken and Morgoth overthrown, Sauron put on his fair hue again and did obeisance to Eönwë, the herald of Manwë, and abjured all his evil deeds. And some hold that this was not at first falsely done, but that Sauron in truth repented, if only out of fear, being dismayed by the fall of Morgoth and the great wrath of the Lords of the West. But it was not within the power of Eönwë to pardon those of his own order, and he commanded Sauron to return to Aman and there receive the judgment of Manwë. Then Sauron was ashamed, and he was unwilling to return in humiliation and to receive from the Valar a sentence, in might be, of long servitude in proof of his good faith; for under Morgoth his power had been great. Therefore when Eönwë departed he hid himself in Middle-Earth. The Silmarillion
There is a theory that Diarmid might have been EönwĂ« in disguise, sent by ManwĂ«, and his mission was to test Mairon and bring him home to Aman. I subscribe to this theory, because not only itâs aligned with what Tolkien wrote, but because Amazon has limited rights to âThe Silmarillionâ, and needs to adapt and work around it.
And thereâs some clues towards this in the dialogue itself:
That way lies death, friend. [âŠ] I know youâve suffered. I can see it in your eyes. Thereâs another life waiting for you. You just have to turn toward it. [âŠ] A sure path may crumble, but thereâs always another. Often, it can lead us someplace better. Someplace good. They say thereâs places across the sea, a man can escape himself. Find another path. Perhaps another life. Come with us, if you like. Or, walk on. And keep chasing death. Choice is yours, friend.
Diarmid also wears the pouch of the King of the Southlands, which might be another clue; âA symbol of kings, long-dead [âŠ] My family served them.â
This is also connected with what Mairon tells Galadriel in 1x03: Be careful, Elf. The heir to this mark is heir to more than just nobility. For it was his ancestor who swore a blood oath to Morgoth. I am not the hero you seek. For it was my family that lost the war.
In "Rings of Power"; this pouch is symbolical of Mairon's blowing up his redemption, and falling back into evil.
The connection between the Southlanders and Morgoth was also a major theme throughout Season 1. This was, after all, the reason why the Elves kept watch over them for centuries: It has changed much, Watch warden. But the Men who live here have not. The blood of those who stood with Morgoth still darkens their veins. (Revion to Arondir; 1x01).
You were right to watch us. Because we are destined for the darkness. It's how we survive. Perhaps it's who we are. Who we will always be. Bronwyn to Arondir, 1x05
What we see here is that Southlanders were kept watch by the Elves to make sure they were fulfilling their penitence for siding with Morgoth, and obtaining their pardon from the Valar.
Hence Diarmid/Eönwë wearing the pouch of the King of the Southlands, as a test for Mairon: will you choose good and redemption (save Diarmid)? Or will you choose evil and Morgoth (the pouch)?
Diarmid: Nightmares again? What haunts you so? Mairon: I've done evil. Diarmid: All of us have done things that we care not to admit. Mairon: Not like I have. Diarmid: Find forgiveness. You are alive because you have chosen good. Mairon: But what of tomorrow? Diarmid: You have to choose it again. And the next day. And the next. Until it becomes a part of your nature.
And this makes even more sense with the sea serpent destroying the ship Diarmid and Mairon were traveling on, in the Sundering Seas, near Valinor. A sea creature, most likely, sent by Ulmo, the Vala of the sea. Or even Ossë, the Maia of Inner Seas, himself.
We have the Gods uniting to test Mairon and killing a bunch of humans in the process. Why Iâm telling you this? Because the âRings of Powerâ fandom has not yet grasped the concept of âbeing a Godâ and how Gods are d*cks, overall, who donât care about individual lives, they look at the full picture and see reality in 5D. Like Sauron himself. And if they need to kill a bunch of people to accomplish their goals, they will. Even Eru sinks an entire island to punish its people, and Heâs the ultimate good (and authority) in Tolkien lore.
And Mairon failed the test, because he chose Morgoth (the pouch), and left Diarmid to die.
The Trials of Mairon: Galadriel and NĂșmenor
Sauron was of course not 'evil' in origin. He was a 'spirit' corrupted by the Prime Dark Lord (the Prime sub-creative Rebel) Morgoth. He was given an opportunity of repentance, when Morgoth was overcome, but could not face the humiliation of recantation, and suing for pardon; and so his temporary turn to good and 'benevolence' ended in a greater relapse. Tolkien Letter 153
Having failed one test, the Valar didnât give up on Mairon, for they send him another: Galadriel. Who also turned her back on Heaven, by choosing to remain in Middle-earth due to her pride, and desire of hunting down Sauron. And, so, this time, they were both getting tested by the Gods. And even Mairon sees through her, in 1x02: At last, a little honesty. If you want to murder Orcs and settle a score, that's your affair. Don't dress it up as heroism.
When Mairon arrives at NĂșmenor, he sees it as âthe place across the seaâ Diarmid told him about. Where he can find another path, another life. A island gifted by the Valar themselves to Men, and where they are ever watchful. And so, he believes this is where he can prove his good faith to the Valar and sought their forgiveness for his past sins and crimes under Morgoth.
However, Mairon recognizes that Galadriel can be a liability on his plan of staying at NĂșmenor, not only due to her antagonistic atitude towards the NĂșmenĂłreans, but also the bad blood between them and the Elves. And that explains his advises to her, in 1x03: âI suggest we set history aside for the moment and show some restraint. Let's try not to antagonize these people.â
When things turn sour in their meeting with Tar-MĂriel, we see him employing his charming ways, and acting the diplomat: âIt seems to me that our leaving presents some complications. Perhaps it'd be better if we stayed... [âŠ] Long enough, good Queen, to give you and your advisors adequate time to weigh our request. A few days, perhaps?â
Of course, Maironâs intention is not to stay in NĂșmenor for just a âfew daysâ. He wants to stay there in servitude, and prove his good will to the Valar: âI have been searching for my peace for longer than you know. Please, for both our sakes, let me keep it.â
to receive from the Valar a sentence, in might be, of long servitude in proof of his [Sauron] good faith; The Silmarillion
When the petals of Nimloth, the White Tree of NĂșmenor, fall, according to Queen-regent MĂriel, the Faithful see in them the tears of the Valar, âa living reminder that their eyes and judgment are ever upon us.â
Which explains Mairon's next actions: after the meeting, he goes straight to NĂșmenor forge, to find himself work there:
There is not another man on this isle that knows this craft better than I. I will shovel coal if needs be, Iâll splinter wood, Iâll shape a sea anchor for you, free of charge, sturdier than anything you have ever seen. Howâs that? Iâm here to start anew. Lend me that chance. Please. And I wonât forget it. Halbrand/Mairon asks for work at NĂșmenor forge, 1x03
Mairon is told he needs a guild crest in order to be a smith in NĂșmenor, and heâll do just about anything to get it. And this is when his bounds to Morgoth and his old ways come to the surface: not only does he steal the crest from one of the smiths (and gets into a bloody street fight), but he also tells Ar-PharazĂŽn of Galadrielâs plans. And this was confirmed by Galadriel herself in 1x05: I wondered how the queen knew to waylay me at her father's bedside. It never occurred to me you'd hand me over for a guild crest.
And we see Mairon working at the forge, and heâs happy. Itâs not random that the times we see Mairon truly happy in Season 1 is when heâs smithing; both in NĂșmenor, and at Eregion, alongside Celebrimbor. This was what he was created to do and to be, by Eru himself. This is his purpose, and whatâs heâs meant to be doing. Not getting high on power trips (Morgoth).
And this is a great contrast with Season 2: as Mairon goes deeper into evil, he embraces the sorcerer and neglects the smith. We barely saw him doing any actual smithing in Eregion, in Season 2, while in Season 1, he was involved in the entire process.
And, as Galadriel leaves, the petals of Nimloth, the White Tree of NĂșmenor, fall. The Valar âcryâ: my theory itâs in approval of Maironâs decision of staying in NĂșmenor, in servitude. He has proven his good will (âin truth repentedâ) and needs to stay on his current path (redemption is a process). But MĂriel looks at it, all wrong (like her father will warn her about), and thinks itâs a warning to follow Galadriel, when itâs actually the other way around.
And 1x05, we see Galadriel acting behind his back and involving MĂriel, Queen regent of NĂșmenor, in her plans of getting herself an army to fight âSauronâ in the Southlands (the army she claims Sauron promised her, in 2x06).
And Mairon is vexed. He doesnât want any part in this; he wants his redemption. And this is very clear in this scene:
MĂriel: My thanks, Lord Halbrand. I'm certain your fellowship will prove just as invaluable once we make landfall. Mairon: "Landfall?" MĂriel: Galadriel informed us of your aspiration to unite your people. Mairon: Did she now? Galadriel: I trust she was not speaking in haste? Mairon: As a matter of fact, it was my intention... [to stay in NĂșmenor] Galadriel: My companion is merely feeling the weight of his task. I have no doubt, come time, he will do his part. MĂriel: Given that I've staked my name upon it, I should hope so. Edda: Queen Regent, your father has requested your presence in the tower. Mairon: "Galadriel informed us." Galadriel: I wondered how the queen knew to waylay me at her father's bedside. It never occurred to me you'd hand me over for a guild crest. Mairon: You used me. After I all but begged you to let me be. Galadriel: I have just convinced NĂșmenor to send five ships and 500 men to aid your people and place a crown upon your head. Many might assume you used me. Mairon: Find another head to crown.
This is Mairon symbolically rejecting Morgoth. And this is the âgoodâ he should have chosen. This is him passing the test, and a step closer to his redemption.
But Morgoth/Galadriel wonât give up, and she goes to the forge to persuade him into taking up the role of King of the Southlands.
I already talked about this on several posts; in Season 1, we see Galadriel being the âMorgothâ to Maironâs âSauronâ on several occasions, by tempting him with promises of power. And this NĂșmenor forge scene is a direct parallel with Morgoth tempting Mairon with promises of power in AulĂ« forge.
This idea is also present in MĂriel's scene with her father, the king of NĂșmenor, on the same episode, when Tar-Palantir warns her against going to Middle-earth and follow Galadriel:
Tar-Palantir: The kingdom! The kingdom is in danger. I must... MĂriel: The danger has passed, Father. We are doing now what you always believed we must. We're restoring our connection with the Elves. I'm going to Middle-earth. Tar-Palantir: MĂriel? MĂriel: Yes, Father. It's me. Tar-Palantir: Don't go to Middle-earth. All that awaits you there is... MĂriel: What, Father? What awaits me? Tar-Palantir: Darkness.
And this is true to both MĂriel and Mairon, because darkness is what awaits for them there, should they follow Galadriel. Because, just like Adar tells her, in 1x06: It would seem I'm not the only Elf alive who has been transformed by darkness. Perhaps your search for Morgoth's successor should have ended in your own mirror.
And we see this dynamic with Galadriel and Mairon in the forge scene, where the pouch (Morgoth) is used as a plot device; while Galadriel wants him to take it, Mairon rejects it.
Galadriel: I was wrong to use you. For that, I'm sorry. Tomorrow, the queen will call you to audience. Your voice at that meeting may well decide whether this mission stands or falls. Help me. Mairon: I think I've helped you quite enough. Galadriel: Then help yourself. Stop fighting me, and together, let us fight them.
And this is when Galadriel tells him about her brother's death (although Mairon was already aware of this). But that's not what makes him reconsider, and essentially ruin his redemption. Itâs when Galadriel says this:
The company I led mutinied against me. My closest friend conspired with the king to exile me. And each of them acted as they did⊠Because I believe they could no longer distinguish me⊠from the evil I was fighting.
And this is personal to Mairon. Because of what happened with Adar and Orcs; not only they mutinied against him, but they could no longer distinguish him from Morgoth.
And this is related with what Adar himself tells Galadriel in 1x06: After Morgoth's defeat, the one you call Sauron⊠Devoted himself to healing Middle-earth, bringing its ruined lands together in perfect order. He sought to craft a power not of the flesh⊠But over flesh. A power of the Unseen World. He bid as many as he could to follow him far north. But try as he might⊠Something was missing [âŠ] For my part⊠I sacrificed enough of my children for his aspirations. I split him open. I killed Sauron.
Your sorrow cannot ease my pain. And nor will a hammer and tongs ease yours. There is no peace to be found for you here. And nor for me. No lasting peace in any path, but that which lies across the sea. I have fought for centuries, seeking to earn mine. This is how you earn yours.
Find Forgiveness
And this is when everything collapses, and changes for Mairon. He now believes his redemption is connected to Galadriel and her forgiveness. But heâs deeply mistaken, because by following Galadriel and going to Middle-earth, all that awaits him there is darkness, like Tar-Palantir prophesied.
And thatâs why Galadriel is connected to the Fall of NĂșmenor visions: she's the âMorgothâ who brings "Sauron" back, like Gil-galad foresaw, in 1x01: âWe foresaw that if it had, she [Galadriel] might have inadvertently kept alive the very evil she sought to defeat [Sauron]. For the same wind that seeks to blow out a fire may also cause its spread.â
By following Galadriel, Mairon chooses deception over redemption. And itâs like Elrond says to Galadriel in 2x02: âIt was entirely of your choosing. Sauron looked inside you, plucked the very song of your soul, note by note, making himself out to be exactly what you needed. "The Lost King" who could ride you to victory.â
And this is exactly what Mairon does, hoping to earn Galadrielâs forgiveness, and redeem himself. And he makes his choice. And he chooses wrong. He fails the test; and he chooses Morgoth (the pouch), all over again.
And in 1x06, we see Mairon helping people, and guiding them to safety. And he thinks itâs because of Galadrielâs influence on him, and not of his own doing. Because heâs a Maia, he was created as a servant, and he needs to serve someone, otherwise heâs lost.
Galadriel: Whatever it was he did to you, and whatever it was you did... Be free of it. Mairon: I never believed I could be... Until today. Fighting at your side, I... I felt... If I could just hold on to that feeling, keep it with me always, bind it to my very being, then I...
And when Galadriel tells him âIâve felt it tooâ; itâs the confirmation and validation Mairon needed. He thinks sheâll be willing to bind herself to him, and keep him in the light, and he'll achieve the redemption he so desperately wants.
But Galadrielâs light is merely aesthetic; itâs the light of the Two Trees of Valinor, who shines on every Elf who was born during the Years of the Trees. But in her case itâs more perceptible, because of her legendary golden, shot with silver, hair. And itâs her beauty that blinds Mairon; the Maia who loves beautiful things.
Forgiveness takes an Age
Forgiveness doesn't come to folk like me. Sooner or later, they'll cast me out, you know they will. Estrid to Isildur, 2x03
In Tolkien legendarium âforgivenessâ is not just âearnedâ, itâs given, as well. And we see this with Frodo and Gollum in âLord of the Ringsâ: itâs Frodoâs mercy and pity that ultimately allow Gollum to âredeemâ himself, because he's the one who destroys the Ring, by falling down the volcano with it. Frodo, in âFellowship of the Ringâ believed Gollum deserved death and that Bilbo should have killed him when he got the chance, but Gandalf shares some wisdom with him on that topic. However, after he meets Gollum, he pities him and takes mercy on him.
And when Galadriel rejects his offer, Mairon sees it as a rejection of her forgiveness. She tells him: No penance could ever erase the evil you have done; and he sees this as confirmation of his worse fears, on a subconscious level (because heâll try to redeem himself through the ârings of powerâ masterplan, still); heâs not worthy of redemption, and others will always cast him out. This is the turning point for him.
Because this is also a theme morally gray or villainous characters face in Tolkien lore (especially in The Silmarillion): they are always seen as irredeemable by others, and must die. But these characters are wrong, due to Tolkienâs ideas of redemption, rooted in Catholic faith (and this is what is called âunreliable narratorsâ, because âThe Silmarillionâ is written by the Eldar POV, and is a collection of facts, myths and gossip, essentially).
In Tolkien lore, âredemptionâ is a process, and a nuanced and complex idea. Itâs broader than just one villain turning good overnight, because in the legendarium this process is not instantaneous. Itâs pretty much like Diarmid tells Mairon in 2x01: itâs a process where the character has to progress towards good by conscious choice and free will: âyou have to chose it again, until it becomes part of your natureâ.
But Mairon never chooses this. And in Season 1 of âRings of Powerâ, itâs exactly what Tolkien wrote: he in truth repents, temporarily turns to good and benevolence, but doesnât see his redemption through as a result of his own choices. And the âprideâ Tolkien talks about is personified in Galadriel, and him choosing to follow her, instead of staying in NĂșmenor in servitude. But he means well throughout Season 1 and Season 2, too; when he embraces the next plot of his character arc, âAnnatar the reformerâ.
And this is Halbrand. And he was very much real, and not one of âSauronâs illusionsâ or deceptions. He was Mairon seeking redemption and pardon from the Valar due to his crimes under Morgoth.
I'm planning on doing meta on "Annatar the Reformer" of Tolkien lore, too. But I got a feeling "he" is not over in "Rings of Power", just yet. I think that plot will continue in Season 3.

totk rewrite- botw2 edition
been thinking about the other totk rewrite again (the one only based on botw in which the sonau stay a mystery while being expanded upon)
i talked about it before but heres a lil breakdown (im reusing alot of mechanics from the villain rauru rewrite bc they work too well to be discarded for this one)-
(edit, about five hours later .. its not a little breakdown, its a pretty complete summarized breakdown of the entire new rewrite that i didnt intend to spend the last hours of my sunday on but here we are .. long post, but with pics bc theres lots of concepts im reusing or reviving)
okay START:
zelda and link explore the caverns below hyrule castle bc the shiekah tech has been losing power and their research as to why lead them here
they discover ganondorf and through zeldas curiosity break the, already weak, seal on him (no enigma stone here, the seal was done by an ancient queen of hyrule)- he wakes up attacks them, breaks the mastersword and miasmas/malices links arm off (also idea is that you have to fight him but meant to lose horribly lol) and then have to play an escape sequence (or watch a cutscene of it) in which zelda drags link after herself running from gan
(remember this old first idea drawing i made when i started to think about a rewrite? yeah im reviving that, except theres no totk sonau in this anywhere)
they get out and immediately afterwards a heavy earthquake runs through the land, completely, and actually, changing the map (also using the idea of devastating the regions climates- gerudo desert is flooded, death mountain collapsed inwards, the zoras realm is dried up, rito village has completely frozen over - ACTUALLY frozen over, everything encased in thick ice, the temperature has a special new low point, the winds too strong to glide anywhere-, mountains and rivers shifted, caves are revealed- oh and most of the main villages have tried to flee somewhere saver so theres no literal 1 to 1 repeat of points of interest from botw; also no uh .. miasmas holes that are literally jsut like drilled out bc what?? i want the access to the underground be few and hidden to make it more special to discover)
links arm gets amputated and replaced with a shiekah tech one (maybe using the botw shiekah stone/slate since they still dont know how to make them and its the best self sufficient piece of tech left that doesnt rely on the breaking fuel structure) (reusing this concept from the villain rauru one, with the difference beign that theres no corruption of link -or maybe it does have an effect to have shiekah tech literally hooked up to yourself *thinking emoji*- the abilities remainign the same)
when link wakes up some time has passed (so its more logical that the other regions have tried to cope with everything happening) you get a tutorial by purah and other shiekah (bc with zelda in charge theres more shiekah doing tech stuff again! cool!) and now have a magic meter (functions like in the previous pic, recharges over time depending on environment! bc i find that idea so cool for interstign puzzles and storytelling- like i said in an older post, a place where lots of people died might be richer in spirit energy recharging your magic faster- others have been hollowed out of luminous stone which slows down the recharge) and you are left to decide where to go
both zelda and you have a shiekah stone/slate replica but its incomplete since as mentioned the knowledge on how to make it is still lost so it only has the basic functions, such as the map, journal, camera and teleport
zelda is your companion from the start, in the years since botw she trained in basic self defense and can use her sealing powers as a shield to protect herself (though reluctantly since she doesnt want to rely on them) so you dont need to babysit her- you can tell her to be aggressive in encounters, supporting you (occasionally shields you or heals you a little?) or stay out of it/only self defend if an enemy targets her (in case you dont want any help) - she also copies your movement in a way, when you glide around she will too etc- in cases where you go very fast to one thing, like the hookshot, she will grab onto you
zelda also acts as your mobile crafting station, to put it bluntly, as she can craft and repair weapons, which is at first limited but can be expanded upon by doing quests (like the options of spear crafting being hugely expanded by a zora quest- fitting their fight style), when she does it you need the material needed for it though it costs no money- theres new little smith shops around the world that can repair and craft as well in which you can spend money instead for material you are lacking (and a little fee for the work you know)
(one of the first rough concepts for a pair of smiths, one is at the shop (green lady, the scars on her arms are her missing fins bc she burned them or lost them in battle), the other walks around it like terry (beedle) does and from whom you can buy already crafted simple things, like arrow types-
oh yeah, arrow types return and get more options bc theres no way in hell id make anyone scroll through that awful menu just to fuse one arrow at a time (the old types return, but theres new ones and all are craftable in bulk, here and old rough sketch)
(also theres no new 'in the same location jsut a few steps to the left' towers that shoot you into the air bc it just destroys the entire world design- even if there is no sonau tech in this one so no gliders- i want the sky to feel as dangerous and mystical as the underground)
the sky has to be reached via the hookshot, its got big islands mostly with old shiekah ruins, including that broken titan prototype i drew before, and the bird mechanic (you can tame birds and register them at a location there, idk if im keeping the idea of a lone shiekah there, but the birds will stay)-which is if you tamed a bird you can call it when gliding to gain a little boost in height, enabling you to reach islands further away (since no building, yeah that mechanic is better used in a game actually built around it, which totk just isnt- do not argue with me about that- to really let it shine instead of just being a tiktok viral funney build simulator that adds nothing meaningful to the game and actively makes it worse due to its implementation just not fitting there) or save you from falling if you barely missed the edge of one - theres few points of teleportation up there so the world map isnt made skippable, theres no shrines there (and in general, there are no shrines, just minidungeons- ACTUAL minidungeons- integrated into the world, like really big caves that are each unique and filled with challenges- and much fewer of them) (the islands being mostly made nigh invisible from the surface bc clouds gather on their underside)
perhaps different glider types?! and you can switch their design via zelda too
the old botw shrines are non fucntional due to loss of power, either overgrown or broken into pieces due to the ground breaking open, some might be infested with malice/miasma and comes alive like a weird mix between guardian and miasma crab (which also goes for guardian wrecks that hadnt been taken apart for research yet), some are fallen into caves that got revealed or got swallowed by the ground with only the tip remaining- the titans (divine beasts) are all repurposed (like in the other rewrite ideas i had)- the rito tried to flee the blizzard using medoh but sicne no one has piloted it and unstable connection to them causes them to crash in the hebra mountains, unable to leave it due to the storm and thus on limited time; vah rudania was perhaps made into a temple, or training ground but fell into the underground when death mountain collapsed (imagine ... malice/miasma infested rudania being an actual boss itself, chasing after you in the underground); vah ruta was absolutely made into a place of worship and after their domain dried out a few remained there praying to it convinced their faith would save them- its not able to move but manages to produce a little water still; vah naboris might have been used as a stronghold/lookout but due to the desert flooding (which is in fact, bad) its one of the 'islands' people now reside in
new weather types, including storm and darkness caused by mushroom spores that are invasife to the surface
theres at least six dungeons, one for each region (but not in the exact place as in botw bc that is literally just plain stupid though i might use the zora sewer/water system idea for an actual dungeon instead of .. a single button- bc how cool would that have been?? no no lets put the fish people in the sky and put a single button in the coolest part of it that only activates a waterfalll .... coming out of a tiny island in the sky- all just by of the visual neatness of swimming up??- anyway) plus a yiga one that is in and below the akalla citadel- also might put hyrule castle into the underground and inaccessible for a good portion of the game- and one in the forest of the krogs that was corrupted (which i thought was the reaso nfor the backpack krogs, but no, they literally have no goal and serve no purpose than to make funney videos with em, and then even the forest is nothing more but a reused lame fight agaisnt phantom gan- im starting to rant, sorry)
the abilties of the champions will be similar but there are changes, as in tulins (who i might just change to teba bc lets be real he was the one you interacted with in botw really..) isnt a gust of wind, since its both contrary to revalis whole deal of how difficult it was for him to create the updraft and then tulin can just do an almost exactly the same thing as like, a 12 year old- also its little usefullness after me adding in the birds for the sky and different glider types- maybe ill make it a strong windcut forward like in the other rewrite, like the yiga officer windattack but on steriods id also consider most of them not having the innate ability for it anyway, except for yuno maybe since he literally inherited daruks shield and as my idea was could make a variation of it adding the roll an fire to it but still having the shield, bc it kinda makes them like a boring copy of the botw champions and also lessens both their impact in a way (perhaps bringing dungeon items back?? idk,so still working on that)
each dungeon has a unique boss, at least on of which being a corrupted friend (PROPERLY DONE not like poor yuno in totk >:I ) bc each being just some monster tm is kinda boring (like twilight princess was so cool for how it mixed its bosses tbh)- also want satori to have a dark (also nice) counterpart that you might have to fight first bc you are trespassing into its domain (an old sketch gonna revisit it at some point)
new armor sets of course, and you still own YOUR house in hateno, zelda either has her own one in the spot where landa (the funky building lad that you bought your house from in botw) had the 'example' houses or yours got an additional building added onto it for zelda (and you can customize like, trees around it and have a lil farm spot too!!) and in your house theres a chest you can store armor sets in so you dont have to sell them to avoid inventory clutter
POUCHES return!! you can find some but most are locked behind quests (since logically people likely would have pouches) making them a really good reward and dont force you to engange with krogs if you are tired of them, it also avoids making you go back to them over and over just to expand inventory (you can choose for which part you want to use the pouch for, weapon or shield slot etc)- krog seeds are now its own currency for a lil shop you unlock in the forest, one of the highest rewards being the eponator zero (the motorcycle from botw)
also BOTTLES return! the main way to store healing, which also has to be consumed in real time (like in skyward sword, select in on a wheel so link takes it in his hands and 'a' to use it) avoiding the pause and spam apples into your mouth problem-
now cooking is NOT removed, it has even better effects than potions BUT it cant be stored and has to be consumed where you cook it (hear me out-); the cookbook in totk i find pretty annoyingly useless so, the cookbook is now a proper book you can fill out and when you want to cook a recipe you select it there and cook it with what you have (it shows if you dont have it all and also if you wanna swap an ingredient that would end with a similar effect) AND since you cant store it, theres special NPCs that reappear throughout hyrule (like a group of chefs that have one in each region at least) that let you just cook whatever you want without it wasting your materials, and if you hit a recipe it unlocks and is saved in your cookbook (you have to have the materials you want to cook with but it wont consume them, so you cant jsut spam it and fill the entire book out in one go- maybe the chef can give you subtle hints with expressions if something might be good or not before you try it out so you dont waste ages just cooking the same shit over and over xD)
(also possible idea for an item or big quest reward, a portable pot you can set up to cook with -with wood and fire- on the go without having to rely on finding them in the wild, and zelda can act as you chef giving you hints ... honestly i love this idea, remember all the cute botw art of them travelling and cooking together?? make that real you idiots!)
to upgrade your health or stamina you have to get spirit orbs still, but this time you get big ones that each can be traded, since thers fewer minidungeons but they are 4 times bigger than shrines they also give you 4 times the reward- but still one where you can choose which one you want bc i find that an important bit of freedom (idea still is that you free trapped souls and they give you the orb as a reward, majority of which are in caves in the underground or in the surface caves) which encourages you to vary your gameplay and not focus just on one area bc you probably want all those things, go for quests for puches and bottles, for minidungeons for health/stamina etc
oh yeah, the underground houses several dungeons, the weird gravity effect is in either the entire underground or in parts of it- it does not span the entirety of the map, isntead its smaller and often enclosed areas that each are more detailed and 'finished', theres different bioms and enemies you dont find anywhere else, and some enemies on the surface (like the miasma hands but like .. less easy and no phantom ganon bc that got boring rly fast) that sport those hands can grab you and drag you underground- which can either mean doom for you or .. discovering a new area down there hmmmm a risk to take isnt it :3 (also wanted there to be a mount there but idk if i will use this old concept of the dongos or if i want it to be a crab like thing bc of the underwater theme i want to go for)
LORE/STORY
so as you explore you may discover caves and areas in the underground containing sonau architecture (the type from botw, not totk) most of which heavily damaged, but theres few that are in 'better' shape bc they have been in selaed off caverns that werent yet discovered-
you find out the sonau, which you only vaguely knew from ruins in the overworld, were in fact real (but no you dont suddendly know they fucked with hylians and even their names of untold thosuands of years ago that you just so happen to have read in a book all of the sudden like it was an always known fact and not at all a myste- .. rant alarm .. ), and given the ruins underground they must have originated from there, but there are no scriptures that survived and all sculptures are in very bad shape, alot of which seems intentionally destroyed- slowly you and zelda piece together through vague clues (VAGUE game VAGUE, let people THINK) that they had knowledge of the past and the nature of the ever repeating return of disaster to hyrule; the biggest reveal beign that they knew the cycle wasnt natural at all and that it keeps being repeated only through the structure of how this land operates, the beliefs of the people that rule it, altered history etc.
the ancient shiekah under the rule of hyrules royalty found out what the sonau had discovered/knew and persecuted them (parelells to what the king would do to them later on, anyone??) since the divinity of the kingdom must be upheld by all means necessary- which is why the sonau had disappeared so entirely, with little of their culture left and none of them, and by doing so the ancient shiekah also discovered the previously lost knowledge of the gerudo king having turned into the biggest threat to the kingdom in the past (which the sonau had kept secret, knowing what consequences it could have if not handled carefully), which starts up a whole other betrayal plot of the kingdom planning to imprison gan before he can become a true threat (im gonna guess the relations between the gerudo and hyrule havent been that great even before since hyrule was still the main empire)
gan finds out before the plan goes through and assasinates the king of hyrule, the ancient queen declares war (yes, the queen for once) and in the end sacrifices herself to seal him away, more for revenge than any prophecy, but it nevertheless leads to the cycle doing its thing yet again
calamity ganon is a product of ganondorf trying to break free of his seal- and perhaps in an attempt to weaken his unbreakable will the shiekah discover they can use his spirit as a powerful source to their newly invented tech- which previously ran with processed luminous stones (yes battery theory will never let me go idc) and essentially use his own power against him by beating the calamity with their tech
(this knowledge is also how you get the yiga to work with you, using your knowledge of the past as leverage and zeldas ability to negotiate - and bc i thinks it would be cool to see her develop that way, and no i dont mean it as they all gonan fix it uwu either, its hard to go into more nuance here, its already way longer than i wanted- and yes this also ties into the koga is one of the ancient monks that made himself basically immortal through malice experiments HC of mine)
he attacks the regions bc they too sided with hyrule, he drags you to the underground bc its where he has spent thousands of years in agony, hes only out for revenge, an understable one and one you can sympathize with, but one you cannot negotiate with, its been too long, too much, no amount of apology could sate the desire for payback (which keeps the whole link and zelda defeat ganon formular alive BUT gives it nuance, right?? more tragic really, i hope that comes across)
he attacks link and zelda, breaks the masterword bc he has seen it all before, the original calamity, through the eyes of malice, he knows what you will do, inevitably so, you too will come for him, again
at the midpoint of the game you will reach hyrule castle (underground? perhaps it depends on how much health you have, getting grabbed and dragged into its depths losing hearts and if you have enough you survive until you are inside the castle and let go, you cant teleport outside - oh and zelda is either absent for the fight bc you got separated or she held onto you and protected herself with her power- honeslty kinda like the seperation idea bc after having her around all the time its gotta be super creepy to be suddendly alone) and will have a fight with him, that you kinda lose but are saved by the rest of the crew that zelda had banded together and brought here after being seperated from you- maybe without koga yet bc he would be locked to late game i think
there will be a quest to reforge the mastersword, which if you havent already gone to the forest will now lead you there (oh also some of the krogs you find outside the forest now will tell you that they had to flee, but maybe warn you not to go there yet if you are still in early game, others might not know bc they left to plant new forests, windwaker style, maybe a quest there too! to give them purpose beyond being your plaything and then just disappearing- ahem .. )
(old concept for the krog forest/dekutree boss)
the dekutree will tell you to restore it it will need the blessings of the three dragons (who might not have appeared yet, or slowly disappeared one by one, they might need to be rescued bc gan probably knows you are gonna try and repair the sword) (oh look more old concepts still relevant!)
in the end it will .. end with you defeating ganon, just like always (unsure of the place where it will will be but OH LOOK old concepts- here it was still with hyrule castle in mind but that might be jsut for the midpoint fight now- maybe id put the end fight on the forgotten plateau, to round it up nicely, ending where botw began ... ;3
i really like this one .. even more than the villain rauru one, though that one is fun bc a twist like that is pretty neat and fighting with ganondorf is also rly cool- but sicne i just dont like the totk sonau and much prefer them remaining mostly a mystery im very fond of this (also .. im so sick of ancient people with high tech bs now..)
the aim with this is to .. make a botw2 that actually feels like a botw 2 (for me), shiekah tech is still there but little functions still, logically bc its main powersource is breaking off of it, the sonau are a mystery and kinda negatively talked about bc the shiekah persecuted them just like they would later be - also explains why there are shiekah things in every sonau building, of course they would overtake their places and try to erase a much as possible of them (the thunder plateau might have been a place of worship to farodra or for research- now look its a puzzle for a shrine to strengthen our hero to defeat the thing we caused :)) ), the sonau are expanded upon WITHOUT destroying their mystery (none of them are shown, there are NO memories in this game, everything happens in real time and what you can learn about the past is mostly vague clues pieced together by nerd zelda!)
it gives more depth to the shiekah as well as add an important ounce of nuance to the yiga and shiekah, to ganondorf as well while adressing and fixing the things that needed work in botw in ways i would find enjoyable (instead of making it WORSE)
i also dont want to go too hard on 'zelda is totally agaisnt the monarchy bc monarchy BAD', its not meant to come across like that, i just wanted to do sth interesting that does question everything and bc i like to think she could be lead to a different way of thinking, especially if so through her own research and discovery of previously buried history, being confronted with her own biased views by her passion for her interests
anyway, if you read through all of this, i probably forgot stuff, buts its very late and i spent alot of time writing this (bc i cant stop once i started i guess) and theres lots of things repeated that i already talked about BUT if yo actually read through it all, i cannot even begon to express just how much that means to me, and id i dare request, do tell if you like it!!! and thank you so much!!! it might not seem like much but this is also very important to me, i still dream of gamedev after all and i see this as a sort of practice, are my mechanics and stuff actually better os does it just seem like it to me etc -
(though keep in mind, this is in part self indulfent bc hey, its not real and is never gonna be so i might just do what i want- and yes i do believe it is doable, even if this all sounds alot, the magic lies in making it less but make that 'less' more dense and detailed, hence the underground being like at least cut in half in size and the building mechanic being removed (to give to a game where its better used than totk) alone should free alot of time and space for the things i described here)
-thanks again for reading, posts like these rarely get much attention so uh ... its pretty much never worth the time i spent typing designing and writing it (even if theres still lots missing here, like the dungeons and details to the champions ..) so every bit of commentary weighs alot more <3
