Fate and Phantasms #15P: Euryale

Now that Gudaguda’s done and dusted, we can get back to going back to older servants in pathfinder! Today we’re showing off Euryale’s new form, where she’s become a Starlit Span Magus to combine her skill with a bow and arrow with her natural charms. Those charms are also why we pop into the Celebrity and Captivator archetypes, and once we run out of stuff from there we’ll head to the Archer archetype once more to arch slightly better.

Ancestry and Background

When we were making the snek sisters in D&D, Yuan-tis did a lot of heavy lifting for them. Unfortunately, Yuant-ti don’t exist in pathfinder. But if you want to make a small mischievous person who messes with people using magic it’s hard to go wrong with the Sprite. While this means you take a dip to your strength, you make up for that with an extra boost, giving you +2 in Intelligence, Dexterity, and Charisma. You also have to put up with a slower speed than most, but your low-light vision is helpful, and your Magical Strikes will make every hit you make a little more special even after you’ve run out of spells.

You’re also tiny, which is a little too small for our taste. Instead, become a Pixie so you’re only Small sized instead. You also gain Evanescent Wings, letting you reach higher shelves. Euryale doesn’t really fly, but some of those flips she does in her animations are clearly defying gravity.

At level 5 you can whistle a Catchy Tune as an action, making a performance check against enemy wills. If you succeed, they’ll slow down and become flat-footed for a round. It’s basically a charm without being a charm effect.

At level nine you can put on a Fey Disguise, casting illusory disguise once per day, allowing you to better match the beauty standards of those around you, what with you being the “perfect idol” and all. At seventh level this will disguise your sounds and scent as well, and at 9th you can even copy individuals perfectly if they’re the same size as you.

At level 13 you can use a Sprite’s Spark as an attack if you run out of arrows. It’s a ranged unarmed attack that deals 1d4 mental damage.

Finally at level 17 you can Energize Wings, giving you a proper flying speed of 30’ for one minute each hour. I mean you’re practically cupid, might as well be able to fly properly.

While “literal goddess” still isn’t a background in pathfinder, you can at least be Blessed by one. This gives you another boost in Charisma and Intelligence, and you become trained in the lore of the goddess who blessed you. So… Euryale Lore. Or maybe Stheno, it’s hard to tell. Either way, you can also cast Guidance at will, or maybe your DM will come up with something else for you. It’s an extra +1 bonus for a creature once per hour per creature, and that’s never a bad thing.

Class Levels

1. Euryale hits people with arrows and charms them, that’s a Magus if ever I did see one. This gives you another boost to Dexterity as your key ability, you also get trained in Perception, Arcana, Reflex saves, weapons, and unarmored, light, and medium armor. You’ll also get training in Religion and Diplomacy now, and Stealth, Deception, Occultism, Nature, and Society as your brain gets bigger. tbh I’m not sure if Euryale magic counts as religion or occultism, but you’ve got both now so whatever. On top of that, you’re an expert in fortitude and will saves, goddess core and all that.

Anyways, onto the important stuff. At level 1 you get another Ability Boost in Dexterity, Intelligence, Constitution, and Charisma. You gain some funky Arcane Spellcasting from a spellbook you carry around with eight cantrips and four 1st level spells, plus two more spells every time you level up. Much like a wizard, you can copy spells you find in later, but unlike a wizard you have very, very few spell slots. Two in your highest level of casting and two in your next highest level, to be specific. For most of the build anyway, make sure you check your handbook for the exact slots per level. You can heighten spells to cast them with the higher level slots, though.

The big part of the class is your Spellstrike, which lets you use a spell attack and a weapon attack at the same time. The attack takes two actions, and recharging for another spellstrike takes one action, or when you cast a focus spell. Right now you can only use spells that attack a single target, but we’ll mix things up in a second.

Normally spellstrikes have to be melee, but since you trained in the Starlit Span, you can use ranged attacks as well if you’re targeting something within the first range increment. For a shortbow, that’s 60’. Your focus spell lets you make a Shooting Star, a ranged strike that ignores concealment and reduces the effectiveness of cover. If it hits, then every attack against that creature gets the same bonuses for a round. Pink glowy arrows, right out the gate!

You can also enter an Arcane Cascade after you cast a spell or make a spellstrike to add extra damage to your weapon attacks. Your melee weapon attacks. So yeah, it’s useless here.

Finally, we have to talk about actual spells. You get eight cantrips and four spells, but you can only prepare 5 cantrips and one spell cast each day, at least for now. We’re only going to bring up four cantrips here, since that’s how many really fit, but we’ll talk about all the spells you get.

For cantrips, grab Detect Magic to sense magic. It would be awkward if you and your sister got in each other’s way, right? You also get Prestidigitation for minor magical effects, Time Sense for a perfect sense of time (… look they can’t all be super cool), and Protect Companion to improve Asterios’ AC when you fight by his side. In the same vein, Ant Haul will beef up his carrying capacity for a few hours, and Mage Armor increases your AC while you’re not wearing armor. You can wear armor, but that clashes with your look. Aside from that, you can Befuddle and Charm enemies, confusing or, well, charming them respectively.

2. At second level your Expansive Spellstrike lets you use spells that don’t directly attack a creature, so now you can charmlock motherfuckers while hitting them in the face at the same time.

Once you run out of spell slots, you’re still a Charming Liar, letting you make an impression at the same time you lie, as long as it makes sense for the lie to puff up your importance. You’re a goddess, make sure everyone knows it. Even if you’re only level 2.

This is also the first time we can take an archetype, like the Celebrity Dedication, letting you Upstage enemies as a reaction, making the same skill check they did. If you do better than they did, you get a +1 bonus to attacks, checks, and saves for a round. You also Earn Income more easily by mentally enslaving some poor shmucks.

We also get more combat-oriented spells like True Strike for advantage on one attack and Magic Weapon for improved odds with all your attacks. Though, all your attacks are already magic, so it’s not quite as big a deal as usual.

3. If you want to upstage people, you need to be good at just about everything. Fortunately, you’re a goddess, so your Untrained Improvisation is on point. That gives you half your level as a bonus on untrained checks, and at level 7 that increases to your full level.

Also, your Diplomacy gets a little better. We can mind control people, but that’ll eat through your spell slots so fast it isn’t funny. Best have a backup.

You can also play Mind Games to stun an enemy, making them lose a few actions each time they fail a save. We also pick up the first of your vampirism options this level. I don’t know why you’re a vampire, but you are. Umbral Mindtheft is weird, but it kind of fits the bill- you can make a steal action to take a lore skill from a creature- on a success you deal psychic damage, and you gain that knowledge. Is that what NP charge is? Probably not, but it’s cool.

4. At level four your Steady Spellcasting makes it a little easier to prevent disruptions while concentrating on spells. Losing mind control when you’re relying on it is super bad, don’t do it.

Even better, win people over without spells by Glad-Handing them as soon as you meet them. You get a demerit to the check, but you can try again at the usual time anyway so there’s literally no harm in trying.

Finally, as a celeb you Never Tire, letting you push off being fatigued for up to a minute. Again, goddess core baybee. No negative status effects allowed!

These spells are literally just Goddess Core again- Endure Elements protects you from either severe heat or cold, and Slough Skin helps you remove persistent damage and you get a bonus against contact poison. It’s gross, but you are snek after all.

5. Fifth level’s easy. an Ability Boost in Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. Also, your Lightning Reflexes increase your reflex saves to expert, and you also gain expertise in Arcana and weapon attacks.

Fifth level also gets you third level spells, and it’s time for Vampiric Touch. It’s actual vampirism, with the only downside being that you have to be in touch range to- oh, what’s that? You can literally shoot spells at people? Well, isn’t that just dandy! You can also Enthrall people. It’s neat, they have a hard time noticing anyone else.

6. At sixth level, your Knowledge is Power. If you critically succeed at recalling knowledge on a creature, you get a +1 bonus on your next attack on them, to your AC on their next attack against you, and your next save from their effect- you can even give this to your allies! It works once per option, but lasts a minute. I mostly wanted it for the save boost, but the whole kit’s nice.

You can also Trick Magic Items, letting you use your Arcana, Nature, Occultism, or Religion to use a magic item that you normally wouldn’t. You spend an action, and if you succeed, you can use your other actions to use the item. We’re only getting Arcane and Occult spellcasting in this build, so this’ll help you reach godhood.

Finally, something more directly Euryale-ish. Your Mesmerizing Gaze can fascinate a creature who fails their will save once you lock eyes on them. It’s not stone vision, but it’s still pretty stunning, if I say so myself.

For your other third level spells, Hypnotic Pattern and Distracting Chatter will both ruin someone’s life- the former works in a specific area, hypnotizing anyone inside. The latter forces some poor sap to hear dozens of voices from nowhere, generally interrupting his day.

7. At seventh level, your Arcane Sense lets you detect magic innately. You’re just better than other people. Also, this way you and your sister don’t stumble into each other’s magical nonsense.

You also get better at lying to people about which sister you are thanks to your expertise in Deception, and if that doesn’t work you can shoot them harder with your Weapon Specialization.

The unique thing this level is your Studious Spells, which give you two extra 2nd level spell slots which can only be used on a reduced list of spells. The only important ones right now are True Strike and Darkvision. These slots also level up as you do, and we’ll go over them again when that happens.

You’ve gotten so convincing you can tell people something has a False Nature and they’ll naturally believe you. Call a piece of wood stone and everyone who didn’t see it before will immediately agree with you until they break the illusion the old-fashioned way. If someone sees you do this they get a save, but that’s still not a guarantee they won’t fall for it.

You also gain some Reflective Scales, giving you resistance against one type of elemental damage. As they block damage, they store that energy- as a two action move, you can end the spell early to blast that energy out in an area around you. The explosion isn’t very Euryale, but the protection’s nice.

8. Eighth level makes your Arcane Cascade actually do something for a change- while in the stance, your Starlit Eyes lower the DC to target hidden and concealed creatures, removing the check entirely for striking a hidden creature with Shooting Star.

You also learn how to Sow Rumors during your downtime, altering other peoples’ ability to gather information on a subject. Rumors like how tall your sister is, for one.

We’ll also pop into a new archetype this level as a Captivator. This will make you a master of Deception, and you can Daze and Phase Bolt enemies innately.

You also get more magus spells- Dimensional Anchor prevents a creature from leaving this plane, attempting to counteract any teleporting spells cast on them for up to an hour. This is meant to be used to keep slippery enemies from escaping, but there’s nothing preventing you from using it for extra protection against spellcasters.

You can also use Enervation to weaken people. This doesn’t quite have the 100% vampirism we’re doing for, but any excuse to weaken an enemy is a good one.

9. Another fast one. Your Resolve makes you a master at will saves, and your successes are always critical. All the others are flat increases- expert in Perception and Arcane Spells, master in Diplomacy.

You can use that extra spell power to create a Blood Feast. The flavor is terrifying, but it’s basically big vampirism- deal a bunch of piercing damage, gain temporary HP for a minute, and you can even deal persistent bleed damage on a crit. While this is another touch spell, you’ve got a bow.

For a more standard Euryale spell, check out Glimmer of Charm. You gain an aura for a minute- any creature ending its turn near you needs to make a will save or they’ll like you more and can’t take hostile actions against you.

10. Tenth level is another beast entirely. You get an Ability Boost in Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma, and your Rapid Recharge lets you refill your spellstrike as a free action once per day.

You might use that extra action to let out a Bon Mot, distracting an enemy with a clever insult, reducing their will saves for up to a minute, or until they have a proper comeback. You’re good at needling people, and this weakens their saves against your charms. Win-win! If we’re counting you as both halves of the win. Which we should!

You also get Basic Captivator Spellcasting, letting you cast a first, second, and third level spell for free once a day. Basically it’s three more spell slots, which we desperately need. Command and Enthrall are pretty self-explanatory, but we also grab Touch of Idiocy to dumb down anyone hanging out too close to us. If they fail a wisdom save, they’re stupefied, reducing all their brain-based checks and saves. On top of that, they have to pass a check to cast any spells.

You can also put on a Cloak of Colors for protection from most attacks. Nearby creatures are dazzled by your glory, and any creature making a melee attack against you needs to make a will save or become blinded, or even stunned for a round.

For a slightly closer to FGO rendition of vampirism, Shadow Siphon eats away at magical power as a reaction, attempting to counteract a spell and make it deal half damage. Since it’s only half a counterspell, it gets a bonus to its counteract check too.

11. At eleventh level, your Doublespeak means people who don’t travel with you regularly can miss out on what you really mean. God know I have no fucking idea what you’re talking about in your interludes. Also you’re an expert in Armor and Religion.

On top of that, your studious spells are third level now. You get more, but none of them are really needed for the Euryale experience, so just keep upcasting.

Eleventh level magi get sixth level spells. True Seeing is detect magic on steroid, letting you see through any illusions nearby. We’ll also give you Flesh to Stone for shits and giggles.

12. At twelfth level you grow a Spirit Sheath, which I’m desperately trying to not make a joke about its name. It’s a secret compartment for your weapons, and it’s hard to notice, giving you a bonus to concealing items in it. It’s still possible to get owo what’s this’d, but it’s harder. You can also draw your weapon as part of the same actions you use to spellstrike.

If you need to lie about your sheath, your Slippery Secrets will make that a lot easier since it lets you make a deception check to lie to even magical effects.

Speaking of magic, Expert Captivator Spells. Same as last time, but higher level. You get Subconscious Suggestion now, another brain bender, as well as Mirror’s Misfortune. Summon Stheno to an adjacent space, creating an exact copy of you. If an enemy hits Stheno instead of you, they get to make a Will save, taking disadvantage on their next few attacks if they fail.

Vampiric Exsanguination is probably a little too powerful for Vampirism C, but screw it, let’s live a little. You deal negative damage to creatures in a 30’ cone, and gain temporary HP based on the creature you hurt the most.

If you prefer a little subtlety, Vibrant Pattern creates a floating pattern that lasts up toa minute, dazzling creatures inside. Additionally, creatures inside need to make a will save, or they become blinded for up to a minute.

13. Thirteenth level is another one of those “more of what you got” levels. Mastery in Arcana and your Weapons, plus your Studious Spells are fourth level now, and you can pick Freedom of Movement as well. You ever try holding onto a child? It’s impossible.

Contingency is neat if you need to slip on some magic in a pinch, though using two slots for one spell is a high price to pay when that’s half your best slots gone in one go.

Also, your Entrancing Eyes can force a will save on creatures, stupefying and fascinating them if they fail a will save.

14. If you’ve spent time this turn casting spells, you can turn that magic into an Arcane Shroud, giving you an Arcane Cascade as well as a free copy of a spell based on the school of the spell you just cast.

You also get Assurance in Deception, so you can ignore any positives and negatives affecting the roll and just take a 10 plus your proficiency bonus. It’s cost-effective magic.

Speaking of effective magic, your Effortless Captivation lets you sustain illusion and enchantment spells as a free action, so now you really can mix fighting and casting without missing a beat.

Your Prismatic Armor protects you from every elemental option at once, and can even blind attackers instead of dazzling them. Again, we’re mostly here for the resistances but it’s free blinding, who doesn’t love free blinding?

Your charm magic gets powerful enough to Warp Minds, forcing a will save on a target creature- without the option of using counterspells, might I add. Depending on how badly they roll, they could be confused for an action, a minute, or forever.

15. At level 15 you get an Ability Boost in all your soft stats and constitution. You’re also a Juggernaut now, making you a master of fortitude saves, and your successful saves are always critical. You don’t look the part, but when in doubt blame Goddess Core.

You’re also an expert in Stealth and know Greater Weapon Specialization. It’s more damage.

For something new, you can now make utterly Shameless Requests of others, reducing the DC needed to succeed on outrageous requests, and preventing a loss of standing if you critically fail.

This is where we start reaching the awkward point of spellcasting. To be honest, we simply don’t need the highest level spells to emulate Euryale, so feel free to take what you want. Though Scintillating Pattern is still a good option. Again, it makes an illusionary area, confusing or stunning creatures inside.

16. At sixteenth level you can make a Hasted Assault as a focus spell, giving you an extra action each turn that must be used to strike for a minute.

Off the battlefield, you’re a Confabulator, making it a bit easier for you to cover for lies that didn’t go the way you planned.

You can also Command Attention as an action, giving nearby creatures stronger saves against visual effects (because they’re too busy looking at you) and giving anyone using visual attacks a hard time if they try to target someone else (because they’re looking at you). Being the center of attention isn’t easy, but it’s your destiny.

17. At seventeenth level you become a Master Spellcaster, making all your charms harder to resist. You also become a master with your Armor, and an expert in Occultism as well.

We also get ninth level spells, and there are a few I want, actually. Last ones though, promise. Bilocation lets you summon Stheno properly, giving you a second body to move around in. They share the same HP pool, and you don’t get any extra actions, but they can move at the same time, and when the spell ends or is dismissed, you can pick which body sticks around. It also only lasts 10 minutes, but that’s ten minutes of Shining-tier twin time, baby!

You can also use Divinity Leech to eat away at the godliness of a divine spellcaster. Every time they try to cast a divine spell, you gain HP, and have a chance to destroy or weaken the spell in the process. This is the closest we can get to FGO’s vampirism, though sadly this doesn’t give you more spell slots.

18. At eighteenth level you can perform a Cascade Countermeasure once you’re in an Arcane Cascade, giving you resistance 5 against spells. Goddess core and all that, you get it by now.

You can also shadow Mark using a Shadow Mark, making it harder for people to notice you following them. You snuck into Chaldea at some point around the second singularity and we never noticed you since. Very sneaky!

Finally, once per day you can make your target Look Again to recast an innate enchantment or illusion spell. You have to call your shot, but it makes risky moves slightly less risky. It’s worth noting this doesn’t work with Spellstrike.

19. Speaking of spellstrikes, at nineteenth level you can make a Double Spellstrike- when you cast a spell with spellstrike, the next time you use it in the next minute you can spellstrike again with the same spell, no slot required.

You can also make A Home in Every Port thanks to being humanity’s perfect idol. Spend 8 hours, and you’ll find someone willing to put up with you and your friends for a full day at no cost. To help you along, you’re now legendary in Diplomacy.

20. Our final level nets you a Supreme Spellstrike, giving you a permanent extra action that must be used to attack or spellstrike. The flavor text says you make it look effortless, which makes sense since again, god.

For your final mind trick, your Legendary Negotiation lets you make an impression even on people you’re actively fighting. It’s not exactly mindbending magic, but it’s pretty close.

Finally, since we ran out of stuff to give you from the other archetypes, you might as well get the Archer Dedication to separate you from Stheno. It gives you your Critical Specialization with bows and arrows- if you score a crit, the enemy gets posted into a nearby wall by the arrow, taking an action to break free.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

Thanks to your spellstrikes, all your spells have enhanced range, hitting up to 60’ away no problem. Turning your head into a giant mouth and eating people who get to close is scary. Doing all that from across the room is terrifying. Also, since you’re attacking and casting at the same time, you’ve got more flexibility when it comes to the moment-to-moment combat.

High level enemies probably have strong debuff resist, but you’ve got a ton of debuffs to work with, so odds are at least one of them can get through. Worst case scenario, you just go with the greatest debuff of all- death!

You have good AC, you can fly, you can heal yourself, and you don’t have to get into melee range to fight effectively. All this means you are a terror to take down. And that’s before we get into the twin shenanigans you can pull off.

Cons:

You have six slots from being a magus and six from being a captivator. While you do have some focus spells to help out too, that’s not a lot of casting to get you through a full day. While you can bend reality to your whims, you’ll have to pace yourself.

Ranged attacks and casting spells are both things that can be interrupted by melee fighters. We haven’t gotten to Asterios yet, so for now anyone who can keep up with you will be a big hassle. And keeping up with you is easy when you can fly, since your stubby little legs don’t move too fast.

Your limited spell slots require you to plan ahead, preparing your magus slots down to the exact spell each will cast. Even with doubled spellstrikes, that means you have no flexibility after you’ve made your choice for the day. Who would have thought an intelligence caster would require a big brain to play?

“and remember, not a single drop of- and they’re gone.” josh sighed, “they’re horny lesbians, josh, they wanna get fucked before they die.” i said making simon laugh and give me a high five. “that’s not funny!” josh said angrily, “we aren’t dying!” he added on. “you never know!” i defended myself, “none of you are gonna die!” josh repeated.

walking past josh and giving him a ‘are you sure?’ look. “what do you wanna wear?” kate asked me, giving me the option to pick first,

“this blue-” i began, “nope i have been eyeballing that since i saw the bin.” simon said, taking the shirt. “like how josh has been eyeballing kate.” he whispered in my ear making me hold back a giggle.

“okay then i’ll take this shirt and these sweatpants.” i took a black shirt and a pair of gray sweatpants. “oh, well would you look at that! there’s a stain on the crotch area.. is there anything else?” i sighed. kate threw me a pair or shorts that were obviously too big for me, they were men’s shorts. “hey that’s mine!” simon said out of nowhere. “why are your shorts in the lost and found bin?” i asked.

“remember that one time i went to school with shorts for like half a day?” he asked making me nod. “i took it off for a dare and they ended up taking it..” he trailed off. i didn’t know whether to be mad or if i should be laughing.

“it’s what you get for being a dumbass, right kate-”

josh and kate were going in the same bathroom.

“go josh?” simon said in a confused tone. “just go into your own ba-” i began but quickly stopped when i realised there were only 2.

“i’m not going in the girls bathroom, how much you wanna bet they’re having sex?” i fake vomited. “get in the men’s bathroom with me.” simon said, already pulling me. “no! are you serious? what if someone catches me in there?!” i asked, coming up with any reason to not go in the men’s bathroom with simon.

“who’s gonna catch us? hall monitors? all four of them are getting fucked they don’t give a shit.” he said, before i knew it i was in a stall.

i cleaned up all the blood i can see. no doubt my back has some blood, how am i gonna reach it without having simon involved? there was no other way.

“uh.. simon” i cleared my throat. “yea?” his voice cracked. “can you -uh- come in and check if i have any blood on my back?” i asked. “s-sure.” he stuttered.

he went to open the door but it was locked. “y/n? you good? the stall is locked.” why would she lock the door it’s only me in the bathroom.

“sorry, force of habit.” i apologised, opening the door slowly. once he came into view i covered my stomach with my hand and tried to hide my thighs all at once. he saw my body a billion times we’ve been friends since kindergarten.

i slowly turned around, shivered when his cold hand touched my neck, he moved my hair and when he saw i had nothing he cleared his throat, “you’re blood-free.”

“don’t think so.” i said turning around, “sam’s blood free.” he corrected himself. “there we go.” i smiled.

we fell into a comfortable silence.

i caught myself staring at his eyes, who knew one could have such beautiful eyes? they were so captivating, i almost felt obliged to move closer to him. i could feel his breath. we were so close to each other that if one of us moved a centimeter we would’ve bumped into each other.

“you have pretty eyes.” i blurted out, internally cursing myself. “you’re pretty.” he added, his eyes searching mine; trying to see if i too had the same intentions as him.

it was taking too long, he was taking too long. i closed the gap between us and kissed him. “this a good time to tell you i had a crush on you since 3rd grade?” he breathed, pulling out of the kiss. “this a good time to tell you i’ve had a crush on you since 2nd?” i smirked.

he picked me up and sat me on the sink. my thighs doubled their size and suddenly my scars were much more visible. i tried to cover them up, but he removed my hands.

“you are beautiful” he reassured me, kissing each and every scar. he kissed my bikini line, right on my hips. “you’re crazy if you think i don’t know about these.” he scoffed.

i looked him in the eyes, tears beginning to fall.

“did i say something? god, i’m sorry-”

i pulled him into a kiss. “god, i love you.” i confessed with a sigh. he kissed my tears away. “i love you more.” he replied with a smile. “not sure that’s possible.” i shot back. “pretty sure it is.” he argued.

someone was bagging on the door, making me hold onto simon because i almost slipped.

“what are you guys doing in there? quick get out!” we heard kate yell.

“jeez, someone’s angry.” simon said, pulling on his blue jumper and his pants. “tell me about it.” i scoffed, wearing the shorts that belong to my crush and a shirt that belongs to someone.

18. if you could make something trend, what would you pick? alternatively, if you don't like the word trend - what's something you think is iconic but underrated?

this band called The Dear Hunter, they have this series of 5 albums called Acts in which they follow the life of this guy Hunter: his childhood, his first love, his time fighting in the war etc... all throughout the albums there are certain melodies/sounds that represent themes/characters in the story and it's really cool! also the production of especially the last 2 acts is amazing, with a whole live orchestra and everything. I rarely see people talk about them outside of the fandom, so they definitely deserve some hype.

and in terms of fictional characters I think Crowley from Supernatural is very underrated; when people talk about Supernatural it's always Dean this, Castiel that and yes they slap but Crowley!!! he's really The Character of Characters, I could write a fucking book about him, who does it like him. his fruity drinks with a tiny pitchfork & umbrella, what an icon. also people always complain about the lack of lgbt representation in spn, and though I agree with that they often forget that Crowley is canon pansexual, kissing multiple men on screen & also having 2 orgies (good for him). the writers kinda messed him up at the end tbh, he deserved so much better (for more Crowley rambling you can follow my supernatural sideblog @igota67chevy )

19. which force of nature do you feel most understanding of, because you often think about it? in terms of concepts like love, history, justice, fate, mercy, etc.

I've always been obsessed with the idea of love, but I wouldn't say I understand it. maybe that's the reason I'm so captivated by it in the first place. I'm fascinated by the kind of dramatic heart wrenching love you see in stories, but I've never experienced something even close to that.

20. a light question to end— name a song you think is a universal goodie that everyone on your dash could potentially like.

I've had Louisa by Lord Huron on repeat for the last few weeks. AMAZING song, highly recommend it.

My first theory for volume 9 while the second half of volume 8 is fresh in my mind!

Volume 9 is gonna be the therapy season, but in the most traumatic you'll need different therapy afterwards kind of way. Instead of paying a therapist they're all just be bargaining with the universe like "yo I've had this trauma for a while, and I'm feeling pretty done with it. Here you take it back and uhhh I'll take a new guilt complex. Maybe a fear of falling? IDK, fuck me up bro."

The foreshadow-y Alice in Wonderland-esque fairy tale Oscar told to himself/Oz while in captivity is my guide post here.

Aaaand this is gonna get long so! 10 ideas of shit that's gonna go down next volume beneath the readmore, each one about 1-2 paragraphs each.

In the fairy tale the girl runs away from her problems into a new land, but because she never learned from her problems they just followed after her. Yeah? So first--second? First discounting the volume therapy theme theory.

FIRST BIG THEORY: The girl from the fairy tale was real, and she used the Spear of Creation. And like Weiss and the crew, she was fucking smart about her wording. She offered up materials that'd last even after someone else inevitably used the staff. IDK what materials she woulda used. Maybe there's a story about a missing continent we just haven't heard of yet? Maybe the Brother of Light's pool, since Salem seens to have claimed the Brother of Darkness's one but no sign of BoL's these days. Maybe there is a reason the land beyond Menagerie is so uninhabitable beyond desert + grimm? idk. Point is, it's a thing that happened, and since Ambrosius can't destroy/directly kill she's still in her wonderland. For themes sake I'm gonna call her Alice from here on out.

So Alice made a pocket dimension to flee from her problems from.

SECOND BIG THEORY: Her problems were relic related. She needed to hide em, and hide herself from Salem. Tbh I'm not sure how into this one I am. Maybe she had other shit going and some version of Oz was like "hey you don't want to be here, I have some property that I don't want to be here, lets make this happen!" THE POINT IS, the little pocket realities the relics are in, are aalllllll places in her pocket reality. When the team said "hey Ambrosius just make the middle ground into one of these type places" that's what he did, cause that's how he do. What better way to make sure it works like those places than to be kinda connected to em?

THIRD BIG THEORY: Ambrosius was buds with Alice once upon a time, but knew staying in her pocket world ultimately drove her crazy. He knew his middle ground worked like the pocket dimensions because it touched em or something, so he gave a vague ass warning not to fall, because he knew where they'd fall to.

Back to the fairy tale. It's implied Alice was never able to leave/give up her wonderland because she never learned from her mistakes.

FOURTH BIG THEORY VERSION 1: RWBY + Jaune can't figure their way back to reality until they adress a major personal issue and break out of whatever cycle it's got them in. This one I feel is shaky because they all have such different issues and are in very different places with each of them, trying to do one big arc on em would be too much of a mess. Plus it doesn't account for saving any of the many civilians that may have survived the fall.

FOURTH BIG THEORY VERSION 2: nobody can leave until Alice either leaves, dies, OR is convinced to let them go. As we're following good kind people this means we watch the kids try to give someone else therapy that THEY need. RWBY+J work through their shit through variations & combinations of witnessing mirrors of their struggles in Alice/other wonderland inhabitants, and just having time and space to slow down and breathe whether they want it or not.

FIFTH BIG THEORY: Alice is the "antagonist" of the underworld because she is the obstacle to overcome.

What about Neo you may be asking. Well I want her to let go of the revenge schtick, or at least redirect it back onto Cinder thus calling a truce with Ruby. However it's more than likely she's gonna be on team keep Alice as an obstacle at least as long as it takes to kill Ruby, and so Neo will be the "real" Antagonist™ within wonderland.

SIXTH BIG THEORY: Neo because of her unwavering determination to enact revenge is gonna die this volume. She'll be the comparison against which RWBY+J will be measured. As they grow and get closer to leaving she'll become more wrapped up with whatever strange classic wonderland logic this pocket universe has. Potentially depending on how things go with helping Alice, Neo may just end up trading spots with her, and end up trapped while everyone else goes back. But dead or trapped, I have a sad feeling this could be our last volume with Neo. My only hope of her surviving at this point is that she like Emerald switches sides, and in doing so joins Winter as a Cinder foil. While Neo grows and lets go of revenge and thus survives, Cinder stays dedicated to her own desires for revenge and other self serving instincts ringing her own death toll for either the end of the volume, or maybe somewhere in vol.10.

SEVENTH BIG THEORY: Ruby is gonna be grieving and maybe even getting full on angry about being expected to fix everything just because she's the optimistic one. She shouldn't have to deal with this brand and advanced level of childhood stealing just because she wanted to do what was right and won(lost) a genetic lottery for magic powers type anger. Jaune is going to have SO MUCH GUILT to work through, mostly the survivors kind. The bees will be experiencing couples therapy, they've both been pretty solid about individual growth leading up to this, Underworld will be them learning what it means to them to be partners now that they are so different to who they were. Weiss is different. Weiss is at first gonna feel like she's there just because it was a way to really shove all the other Schnee's into their therapy arcs and gave RBY+J neutral presence to rely on. Weiss is gonna go in the most stable of the bunch. But then, slow boil style, she'll start to realise how fucked up basically her whole life has been, especially upon realising that her "good years" with her new family have been spent getting sucked into being the last line of defense against the apocalypse, but will be too busy helping the others, so at the end of the volume when everyone else is actually doing pretty good and refreshed for the fight against Salem she'll only just be beginning her breakdown.

EIGHTH BIG THEORY: All this therapy shit is gonna be mirrored back on Remnant by the others grieving the percieved loss of the hearts of the team. Both sides of these story are gonna deal with some heavy shit, but the Remnant side is gonna be the depressed side, at least as long as it takes for Oz to tell them maybe the other's aren't dead leading to desperate attempts to get the staff OR the make desperate attempts to get the relics back anyways and inadvertently find out from Ambrosius what is up. But anyways. Winter is gonna be dealing with survivors guilt and the loss of both her little sisters (friends are great but Penny was little sister zoned and it's a hill I am prepared to die on. good sisterly relationships are friendships too). Nora is gonna be doing her self discovery thing. Ren is gonna be building on his end of vol.8 developments. Oscar will continue his grappling with the merge stuff. Qrow and Willow might get forced into AA. Whitely is gonna learn his own definition of being a Schnee instead of what his dad taught him.

NINTH BIG THEORY (OR FOURTH VERSION 3): The other way they get out is QORN obtain and use the staff to bring them home, potentially by trading enemy lives for them.

BONUS CONSPIRACY THEORY: QORN if presented with needing to trade for their loved ones & lost civilians have a lightbulb moment and decide hey why not trap Salem in a pocket universe since that is a thing Ambrosius can make? Like, if this bitch hasn't budged on her not learning to appreaciate life and humanity or whatever (which I'n pretty sure is the other way to break her curse instead of stopping remnant from turning) then she's a prime candidate for shoving into a personal reality that you can only escape if you can face your problems long enough to break the cycle they have you in. It'd be really fucked up but I think it might actually be possible to run the place using her as her own material component. Like kill her over and over and redistribute the energy to make the pocket world, but because god given power + Ambrosius can't actually destroy she just reforms anyways. MIght take a few hundred thousand deaths but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Or use the BoD oasis/grimm pools to make a world that mirrored the one she chose to live in on Remnant really make it hard for her to break that cycle....

Anyways.

TENTH BIG THEORY: Working on the idea that the relics are actually hidden in secret protected pockets of the underworld RWBY+J are gonna have a secondary quest of trying to get the relics from this side, and either finding a new place to hide them ages away from their vault doors. If you wanna make it a FOURTH VERSION 4, they're specifically gonna seek out the sword of destruction (HOLY VORPAL BLADE ALLUSIONS BATMAN) either with the intent of cutting their way out underworld--ahem wonderland--or with the assumption that someone is inevitably gonna have to open the vault door, because that's just how things be these days and they'll be able to cross to Vacuo from there.

Oh wow this took so long to answer I'm so sorry anon!! I literally never gets asks here so I never check 😅

I can't say I've read the most fics in this fandom ( I'm pretty picky when it comes to fanfics ) but I can recommend some that I think are worth checking out!

1. Of your making

25 chapters, completed

" An unexpected twist during the final battle has Harry trapped inside a magical artifact with only his greatest enemy for company. The Carcerem will release them, but the requirement for freedom is an impossible one, for neither Harry Potter nor Tom Riddle will ever forgive the other."

This fic was the first tomarry fanfiction I actually sat down and read all the way through and to this day it's still one of my favorites and the one I recommend to people when they start getting into the pairing. Great creative plot, the characters are all in character and I just really love it.

2. The All Seeing Eye Glass

14 chapters so far, last update 29/8/2020

" When Harry lands himself in 1942 he officially stops caring. Surrounded by witches and wizards that are blissfully ignorant that there's a time-traveler in their midst, Harry resolves to make his own changes, which results in some interesting and unexpected consequences."

I have no words for this fic. From all the time traveling ones this one takes the cake for me by far. The characterization of everyone is amazing,the plot is captivating and it made me love Harry's relationships that get created. The use of seers is really great and the lore if the wizarding world is greatly explored. Plus it's like really funny. Hope it updates soon!

3. Teaching History (is old news)

Another one of the greats. This fic has made me laugh and cry so much I should tell my therapist about it. The idea of Harry as a Divination professor is the best idea ever and if you love ugly sweaters and Harry bothering Tom you'll love this one.

4. No Glory

Like this obviously isn't everyones cup of tea but if you like dark academia and dont mind some of the warning tags I believe this to be one of the best out there. I've been into dark academia since I was 16 and thanks to that this has to be my favorite fic out there. The way the characters are written is very unique but also very aligned with dark academia roles. If you like this style I suggest reading all of the author's works as they are all great!

There's many more beautiful works but these 5 hold a special place in my heart as an audience!

2: Who is your favourite fictional character and why?

God I have basically one for everything I remotely liked, but Imma focus on the two I keep coming back to.

Arthur Pendragon because he just. He. Ugh. He's just so good. And he's not good because it comes easily to him but because he works for it, he's good despite things, he's a disaster and sometimes messes up but he always tries to grow, to make up for his mistakes, and no matter how often he gets betrayed and hurt, he keeps trusting those he loves, only more fiercely. Sometimes he's self-absorbed but he still puts everyone and everything above himself, and it's tragically bitter at times, but it's also just so Arthur that it makes me want to cry tbh.

I also just. Relate probably way too much to him tbh, the bi disaster energy is real.

Also Regulus Black which is always kind of funny to explain cause there's like, two pages on him in the books, but huh boy what those tell us. I guess there's kind of a theme to my faves lmao - he majorly messes up too, and then he does everything in his power to make up for it, and he's repressed and a disaster (ha) and he's not what anyone would call a paragon of virtue either but he tries and damn. Half of what I love about him is probably very-vaguely-canon-adjacent-headcanons that would take way too much time and space to elaborate on, but I would literally kill for him. 💙

Also, honourable mention to Laurent from Captive Prince because he's a mean bitch who's actually soft, and I love him so, so much.

7: What makes you feel better on gloomy days?

Curling up with a coffee or a tea and reading, or writing something self-indulgent. Or watching half a season of Gilmore Girls. 💙

11: What character archetype or trope is your favourite?

I just answered this, but I'll add three more favourite tropes! 😄I have a huge soft spot for breaking up & making up stories, for reasons we're not going to examine too closely. Okay, but, Incubus!Billy. That's it, that's the Ted Talk.

Thank you so much for this Ted Talk, it was incredibly inspiring!! 💛💛

I mean…When I tell you that I’ve been thinking about this all day…

In total, I ended up with three possible scenarios for that concept and they are as following:

1) Renaissance Setting

Now. Billy as a good Incubus, being send to seduce some sweet, god-fearing priest. However. He arrives at the destination and has a cartoon moment where he looks at the priest and just…slowly lets his gaze wander to the guy standing right next to him. And that’s how Billy decides that hey, you know what? Fuck that priest. He’s going to seduce this guy instead.

Which is ridiculous, tbh, because Frank’s a mercenary and those guys usually don’t need much seduction to go to hell. But Billy’s a simple Demon, he wants to have some fun now and then, alright? Let him have this!

Now the reason why I was so captivated by this is mostly the aesthetics. I have a whole fic planned out for a Renaissance AU for these two and while thinking about this, I remembered once more why I’m so into that concept. Because the fashion…the Lööks…Unparalleled.

Billy is an Incubus, after all, so he’s extremely alluring, his presence is very physical. There’s his seductive attire, the pearl earrings, the dark velvet, the trim waist and high collar, the lace, the elegant hands, the pale throat. You want to touch him to feel the material of his clothes, the embroidery, the lace. The shimmer of silk and pearls attracts the eye, he has his melodic voice, there’s that scent of wood and roses and thyme… It’s just a lot. He’s gorgeous. He’s incredibly seductive.

I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

Especially since there’s that contrast with Frank, who’s got his beard, the broad shoulders, the big hands…!!!

(And here we have that demonic seduction I love so, so, so much. The gothic eroticism, the dark-sensual dreams. Frank waking up, hot and quivering, feeling drained and still filled with a dreadful anticipation. Trying to spot the moving shapes in the dark corner of the room, where Billy is licking his lips, waiting for him to fall asleep again. There is a nuance to superstitious eroticism that just…can’t be beat imo. The strange dread, the subconscious knowledge that it’s Billy who’s doing this to him, but also that deep, undeniable desire to let him do it. I…I could go on. It’s a great concept, I think)

2. Demon AU

I have this other AU I love very much and for which I have two drabbles which you can find here. The concept is super simple: Sometime in the Fin de Siècle, Billy decides that hey, he’d like eternal youth, actually? And thus he summons a Demon who then is dumb (and probably horny) enough to agree to bind them together via a contract.

For this…I was thinking… How fun it would be if Frank was his Demon self, just trying to do his job and kill people and cause suffering, but Billy, Incubus, for some reason decided that he’d much rather fuck him than humans, so he follows him around. Centuries of shenanigans where Frank tries to cause mayhem while his targets are all way too busy drooling over Billy, who in turn does the “seductively lying on the floor watching Frank work” pose.

I have a terrible thing for Demon!Frank (and I’m working on expanding those drabbles, maybe adding to the story etc) and the concept of him with his almost-human self, all power and sulphur and molten void, countless teeth and black eyes, being followed by Billy, certified Sex Demon, who spends his days looking hot and making Frank’s life difficult.. Idk that concept speaks to me. Also, it’s fun since that way, Billy wouldn’t actually be in charge? He can’t access Frank’s energy, since he’s not human, so he can’t weaken him. And honestly? Demon vs Incubus isn’t exactly a fair fight.

(Frank snapping now and then and absolutely destroying Billy… Raw Demon strength, heat and passion and violence, his claws sunk into Billy’s throat and teeth bared…Billy, Immortal, with his eyes rolling back, drunk on pleasure, absolutely fucked up…We all know he likes it a little rough, and it doesn’t get much rougher than a pissed off demon. Very counter-productive of Frank, tbh, because even IF Billy could feel the damage Frank is capable of doing (bed’s a mess. In shreds. In pieces. Unusable), does Frank really think he’d leave? After that??

I say Frank’s a bit of an idiot, and he’s lying to himself (so like, nothing new) because he was THERE and he made SURE that Billy came until he couldn’t form words anymore (which is a feat, considering he’s a, you know, Sex Demon, and fucking is like. His job.). Like? What did he expect? For Billy to go “alright, that was fun, bye”?! Fool.

3. Army Days

Sure, Renaissance is extremely fun, but I also ended up thinking about just regular old Frank? In the Army? Not knowing his best friend is a Sex Demon?

And I think Billy, Très Fucked Up, just enjoys violence and death, since it’s close to passion etc etc, so he just hangs around in armies and close to war zones. Just an explanation of why he’s there to begin with.

But now the fun part. Renaissance AU would be interesting because Frank would still be superstitious enough to suspect that the beautiful man with the pearly teeth is harming him. But present-day Frank? He’d have no idea. And he can’t even rely on his gut, because no matter whether it’s Renaissance or Modern Day – Frank wants Billy. He appreciates his beauty, he’d fuck him to pieces given the chance.

So Modern Frank really has no way of knowing that Billy is actively harming him. Like, sure, he has incredibly intense wet dreams and he feels uneasy and knackered when he wakes up, but like. If you’re in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by guys, you might start having those thoughts. No need to suspect blasphemous powers behind it, it’s not all that weird.

What is weird, of course, is that those dreams are so incredibly realistic, and that they’re all, without exception, about Billy. And Frank has a good amount of guilt over that, since it’s not fair to look at his friend in that way just because there are no girls around and he’s so painfully pretty. So I imagine he throughout the day tries to prove to himself that he’s a good guy who doesn’t objectivity his gorgeous best friend, but no can do. Once he’s asleep, he’s back in that weird velvet darkness with Billy and his beautiful eyes, his soft mouth, his sharp-hot scent. And since it’s a dream, he’ll be free to touch him, pull him in, kiss him. Billy’s hands in his hair and his voice, melodic-sweet, in his ear – “I’ll eat you up.”

Honestly, truly – I’m so obsessed w that whole concept. I can’t stop thinking about it. Brain broken, only Incubus Billy. There’s just something about that selfish hunger that just fits him so well? Desire and consumption and sensuality. I just. [SCREAM]. You know??

Also in all of those scenarios, Frank would at some point be actually lucid while they fuck and in each of these scenarios, Billy is incredibly smug about it. You know, the ‘laughter turning into hitched moans’ kind of smug, the one that melts into overwhelming pleasure at some point, when that first self-satisfied realisation that Frank wants him is followed by the realisation that Frank is good. Not sure how Frank would make it out alive and immortal in 1)&3), but…he’s got to. Billy simply wouldn’t let him go. You don’t get fucked this well only to let the guy die.

Alright, I’m forcefully stopping myself now before this gets too long but…honestly…thank you so much for this message…My brain is in shambles. Succubus Billy Hours 24/7.

2020 was... a year. Tbh, 2019 was worse for me. Ive read my 2019 diary and i dont know how i managed, and in the end i was still optimistic. 2020 was supposed to be my year of spoiling myself and doing new things. Of course not everything went according to the plan.... but i managed to do a few things.

Lets see

This year i did two things i thought i would never, ever do. Like even last year, i didnt even consider it. 1. i got a tattoo. The idea came to me at the beginning of the year, the plan was to do it in spring, but then quarantine happened, then renovations, and in the end i had it done in september. Its a flower and i love it.

2. i left academia. last year i got accepted into phd program. It was a mess and in the end, i had enough. Ive stayed a few months longer for the scholarship money, and resigned. I am now academia free and enjoying my very frist study free christmas break. Im vibing

among other thing, there are: 3. i cut my hair. it was waist lenght and i cut it shoulder lenght. I dont know why it was such a huge deal for me, but it was. The hair grew back real fast and i had it cut again in november. I think im gonna keep it this way. Or shorter. I’ll see.

4. had my ears pierced. I had one set of earrings, now i have two. I bought a lot of earrings. I really like it. More jewerly is better jewelry.

5. discovered the band breaking benjamin, very nice

6. discovered the book captive prince. ive read it three times already. would recommend

7. made a candle out of what was left of other candles. easier than i thought, but putting dried flowers into it wasnt a good idea

8. made a hat. and then another hat. im kinda proud of them. didnt get to wear them outside yet tho

9. made a brooch. out of an old notebook cover and christmas decor. its kinda big. i dont mind

10. made a head band. this one needs some improvements tho

11. i thought online classes and im still alive. i prefer real life classes but i managed. i learned about teaching too, i hope i can improve my knowledge next year

12. renovated my kitchen! it was old and disgusting. now its nice and clean and pretty and i love it

13. started french, german and turkish on duolingo somewhere around march. im still doing it every day. kinda like it!

14. tried embroideiry. it was fine. i want to go to embroidery class after the plague is over

15. started taking my own outfit photos. i got a cheap tripod for it and it works!

16. honesly i didnt count it, but i did some writing. I didnt finish anything, but i wrote significantly more than in the past. I want to finish something next year

17. started using reusable pens again. sadly the ink doesnt really work on some of my cheap notebooks... it leaks. But i do when i can

18. expanded and cleared my wardrobe. I love every single dress i have. I cant believe i really do have a full wardrobe of pretty dresses! its a dream that came true

19. shaved my eyebrow. they grew back darker. now i have visible eyebrows for the first time in my life

20. got a resuable shaving blade. it looks baddas and i have so many razors they will last me a lifetime

21. met the google car! cant wait to see myself on google street view.

22. i learned kanji like crazy, im over 1700 now. Thats enough for the n2 exam, i will try to take it in december next year

23. renovated my room and rearranged the furniture. It is now the cute pink room i wanted for some time. I got a cute carpet and a vanity table. I feel like a princess and for the first time i feel that all my belongings are in order

i must say that i changed. im not the same person anymore. ive grown, ive learned my wants and needs, i started giving myself what i want and what i need, and maybe even more importantly, ive stopped punishing myself. No more of that. I deserve everything and im gonna get it :)

Skam España - Season 2 - Episode 1, Clip 6: Las amistades peligrosas

Hey you! Finally, we’re finishing the first episode! If you don’t know what I’m talking about, go check this post; here you go for the first clip and here for the last I posted, the fifth clip.

Well, let’s go for a 7 minutes clip (prepare yourself a lot of time, it’s going to be long, but like LONG).

Hi everyone! Today we’re here for a new tutorial: “How to prepare yourself for a date with your crush?”. I’m sorry, but the music and the fact that it almost takes 30 seconds of the clip is clearly here to take it with humor, and tbh, I live for this shit.

“Nah.”

What I love is that it’s so accurate. For example, we all screamed to our mother to not go open the door for the person ringing (what I mean is that it’s great because the viewer can immediately relate to Cris).

Another touch of humor, we discover she tried, like, A LOT of sweater. I mean, at this point I can’t say anything but that I love Cris. (Oh, and poor teddy bear who doesn’t know his fate yet.)

“Breathe, you’re great.”

The music stopping and coming back and stopping again when the door closes, the teddy bear and this face. You don’t know how much I’ve laughed with this clip; everything is meant to be funny.

“Now is the moment of your life.” god this song xD

Look at her breathe out again, I love her (and wow, this door is... dark).

Yep, you’re right my dudes, she checks her out.

No but more seriously, look how chill she seems. The chin is high, hands in the pocket, her shoulders are opened, and I mean, this look (+little bonus for the left raised eyebrow), 100% confident; BUT I can’t help myself thinking that she must be freaking out internally (we can notice the movements (swings maybe?) she does with her body, most of the time, we let out our “anxiety”, our stress with these kind of gesture, so yeah).

“Hello, I’m awkwardness! I’m the one who makes you pose as a dummy. I’m sure you’ll love me!”

“OMG THE LOVE OF MY LIFE IS A DUMBASS, AND SHE IS CLUMSY AND AWKWARD AS FUCK, MARRY ME ALREADY!” (I’m sorry, sometimes I think I’m funny even if I know I’m not.)

“I hate myself.” (relatable btw)

Everything in this clip is brilliant. It’s such a funny way to show something real and still be accurate. I’m sure we all had the opportunity to see ourselves in Cris at the moment, this clumsiness/awkwardness; I’m sorry but I’m a gay mess like Cris, I’m just happy to have my representation. (Oh, and the little “vale” from Joana is cute af, it’s not awkward or anything, it’s perfectly in character: confident but reassuring)

Okay so… the next sequence is like… we’re going to have a lot, but when I say a lot, I mean A LOT of things to say, because these two are a fucking goldmine. What I’m trying to tell you is that we’re here for a loooong time together (but I’m sure deep down you like it).

Cris being like “Okay, does she like my room? How does she react?”

Btw, her room is like, wow. They really did a good job with the decoration. Yes, I know, we all saw it, the “LIPS”; “KISS”, I know. Oh, and I love her laptop. I’m sure I can’t see a lot of references but, yeah, we already have too much to say x)

I love how Joana is looking at the entire room. Joana is me. I already said it in other clips, but Joana “sees” thing, she is observant (to me it’s a quality).

I’m so bad at catching it, but Cris’s reaction at the length of the film kills me. Plus, am I the only one laughing so hard as she tries to do small talk? xD (which btw doesn’t work at all because Joana doesn’t complain about the film)

Joana, a complation: Confused Joana – “Meh” Joana – Shocked Joana.

God… This face kills me. More seriously, at the moment, they really aren’t on the same wavelength. Cris complains about the film, when Joana just says she likes it. Cris’ all reaction is really interesting. It’s like the “typical” teenage reaction in front of a school work, but at the moment, there’s also this need to just- say something; because she’s like this, she’s the one who talks for the sake of talking. She talks without really thinking about it; but let’s keep this for later okay? (Oh, and yes, Joana’s gaze, but it’s going to be like that in the rest of the clip so…)

Some teasing. I like that. There really is a chemestry between these two that I love. I like how Joana is like “Oh I see, she’s going that way” and Cris is completely in character and is just “pitching into” her, in a way? (trying to translate a french thought in english is a disaster, believe me).

Thank god, I like to see some repartee. It’s so fluid, you need to remember that they know each other for literally, 2 DAYS, and we already have this kind of complicity. Brilliant.

Look at these happy girls.

I don’t know how to interpret the fact of Joana’s smile slowly fading and then her gaze quickly going back to the laptop, as if she was realizing something or I don’t know. It’s impossible to catch it in pictures, but just look at her after the joke. Plus it’s hard to interpret it because we have a “jump cut”:

We see her smiling and looking at Cris. So… I don’t want to misinterpret things so I’m just going to shut up and continue. Even if maybe (and I say maybe because the rest of the clip proves me wrong until the end), there’s Eloy and the fact that she knows she shouldn’t get to close from Cris even if she wants to.

“Guys, you’re annoying, I’m on a date.”

More seriously, the filming is pretty nice; we have the camera moving from a shot where we have both of them to a shot with only Cris and her messages, maybe to show that she doesn’t pay attention at what is Joana doing anymore (which also means that the rest of the time she was indeed paying attention at every single movement of Joana).

To support my thoughts, when her mother interrupts them, we come back to a shot with the two girls; she isn’t “captivate” by the messages anymore.

Little bonus for the “please Mom don’t say something stupid, don’t ruin this” face.

I live for this shit.

Joana still being a meme + the iconic “My friend heard you” because it’s so fucking accurate (don’t lie, we all said it once + send some love to your mom btw, she deserves it, even if most of the time she embarrasses you).

Joana’s face be like “I was laughing, but I’m trying to not show it because I know it’s already awkward enough, so I’m just going to smile and be reassuring.”

“Stay chill. Don’t panic. Don’t panic. Stay calm. Stay fucking calm. OMG is she really doing this? There’s so much tension. Send help. Please.”

I’m sorry but the “We’re good with what we have.” ? I don’t know if it’s the exact translation, but it’s so ambiguous. I love that.

“Don’t show anything. You’re not destabilised. Stay chill. WtF the TeNsiON. I’m FucKiNG DEstaBiLIsed.” + Joana clearly looking at how Cris is reacting, she’s such a tease (not in the bad way though, I’m not insulting her calm down). Yes, don’t worry, I didn’t forget. BOLD+1500.

Come on, just look how proud she is, while Cris is dying internally xD I’m dying too btw.

Some interesting body language though, the fact of Cris trying to get back her shit together by sitting straight and Joana having her chin really high and her shoulders open; it clearly shows who is at ease and who isn’t imo x) + (yes there’s a lot of things happening) Cris crossing her arms in front her is a way to “protect herself” (not from Joana, but from the overwhelming) and most importantly to “control” herself and kind of find a way to seem more confident or at least not affected.

Cris coming back with her small talk and Joana being like “Yeah, act as if nothing just happened, I saw you panicking anyway.” But more seriously, it’s interesting to see that Cris is a fucking mess. I mean, she tries her best to sound and appear confident, but FUCK she isn’t xD And btw, one of Cris’ most important characteristic is her joking all the time to get rid of every “problematic” situation (it’s not something bad, but I don’t think it’s good either, as we could see in the last clips).

Joana just laughing at Cris’ “joke” and not continuing the conversation is me in 90% of the interactions I have with people (but it’s not what’s important). The most important is that, in a way, it reinforces the fact that they still aren’t really on the same wavelenght, and I think Cris can feel it because of this little look:

It’s also clearly a moment (before this look) where Cris is trying to get back her composure + this little look is there to check if Joana is still in a “teasing mode” or not with her (I think); but tbh, I don’t feel a lot of awkwardness in all of this.

Her phone saving her, just look how fast she grabs it xD (Nope, I didn’t miss Joana’s thing she always does with her nails/fingers, don’t worry.)

Yes guys, you’re used to it now, this is “worry”; not the BIG worry though, but the mouth dropping a little, the eyes openning, the movement backward. It’s not a lot, but it’s here.

Joana, baby girl, it’s not really allowed to look at someone else’s phone/messages. She is so sneaky xD

But yes, a sweetheart.

(I don’t talk a lot about the movement both girls do with their legs, but, well no, I don’t want to say it’s “anxiety” because in the moment it’s not, but it’s still a way to let the “pressure” out, you know? I mean, we all do this kind of things unconsciously when we are with people, especially when we “like” them. Anyway.)

Joana smiling as she looks at the bowl (+shaking her head) because Cris just placed it between them is PRICELESS.

Btw, Cris not answering for a party is… wow? I mean, they didn’t place all of this in this clip for nothing. It allows them to show that Cris is maybe, yeah no, clearly interested by Joana. It just reinforces things.

Cris’ little glance at Joana (did I already say she’s clumsy? No? She’s so fucking clumsy and I love that).

Joana noticing the glance, but she doesn’t glance, no no no, she STARES guys and we’re here for this shit.

She notices Cris’ discomfort and embrassed smile, but keeps staring.

And then we have THIS; but this time, there’s nothing awkward, to me it’s just really cute. Oh, and of course, all this dynamic with their glances and stares shows even more that Joana is way more confident and at ease than Cris.

(I’m wondering if it’s really acting or just Tamara and Irene messing around, trying to hold a laugh and just being two dumbasses. Nah, I think they’re just amazing at representing simple things. Yes, I’m having a debate with myself, just keep reading!)

Look at this proud and happy Cris. We’re finally seeing her a little more at ease, her chin is higher and her shoulders starts to open, because yeah, during the past 2 minutes (more or less) we have her shoulders really tensed and closed with her head really low, kind of forming a “protection” around her; but now yeah, she’s finally relaxed thanks to Joana being all the time so chill, smiley, not awkward and reassuring in her own way.

2:50 of the clip and I already have 23 pages on my Word. We’re not even at the HALF of the clip, I’m already dying. Anyway, I already haven’t said a lot of things but everything is brilliant, so let’s continue and start having some real conversation between these two.

FIRST. How did these two end up in this position? One of the other mysteries of Skam España.

A thought just like that, before this shot the movie was only a music, whereas here we have a conversation; maybe it’s showing that Cris finally pays attention too what is said (I don’t know).

(Little disclaimer, I never read “Les liaisons dangereuses” (because yeah, it’s French) but I tried to understand the story to be sure that I’m not missing too many things about what’s going to be said. Anyway.)

Look at how Joana seems so interested by the movie, so “in it” (French thoughts sorry). Plus, I think it’s the first time we see it (it’s going to be recurrent later) but she plays with her necklace. It’s the first time they want us to notice that necklace btw. We know that the movie is about relationships, love, etc… and the particular moment they’re watching is important because it’s a “““break-up”””. I find it interesting to make her play with her necklace at this specific moment because it’s one of the first hints about BPD. She feels more affected than others by this kind of scenes.

And YES, Cris’ stare. Plus, we go from this shot to this shot:

Here we literally have Cris’ point of view, what she sees + this close shot gives something really intimate. I love it.

She can’t stop staring, that’s… wow.

Cris looking back at the laptop. It’s not really an embarrassed smile though, there’s nothing awkward here. Yep, Joana looking at her lips.

Joana shaking her head in disbelief is the entire fandom in front of Cris being a gay mess. CRIS’ SMILE THOUGH. And yes, there’s NOTHING awkward, that’s super cute I’m dying.

“Is she really…?” (I love how the close shot, which represent intimacy, is thrown away and we come back to a larger shot when the mother interrupts the intimacy)

“Yes, she is…” + Joana being a cute adorable dork when she laughs + thank you for giving us some representation with our periods! (and yes, I’m not that surprised by this situation, my mom is literally the same.)

SO MUCH COMPLICITY I’M DYING. DO YOU HEAR ME?

(yes, Cris is looking again at Joana, but come on I can’t put every gaze in picture xD) The famous “No puedo evitarlo”… Let’s be completely transparent; this whole clip is a HUGE foreshadowing for their entire relationship, and I’m here for it.

Cristina “seriously?” Soto Peña or Cristina “I’m judging you; a lot” Soto Peña, choose your fighter.

Disappointed Joana (+ a bit annoyed).

Btw, Cris dropping her opinion on the characters with no argument and just saying that he is a son of a bitch and that she is an idiot, is so much in character + “I would tell him to fuck off”, well darling… you won’t... and you will, in a way.

What I love about all of this, is that this clip is here to show what is Cris’ vision of love and relationships at the start of the season because they need a starting point to show how much she is going to grow through this season.

Still “not impress” Cris, and yes, another hint for Joana’s BPD (the fact of not being able to control the feelings, even if in this case, it touches everyone and it’s just Cris who doesn’t realize it. It’s hard to act coldly and we have here another characteristic for Cris and Joana, they’re different on this point, we have a more “mature and rational” Joana) + It’s really discreet, but Joana glances many times at Cris lips (yeah, that’s it).

OUF. Disappointment. Again. It’s really hard to catch Joana’s “annoyance”, but her rolling her eyes at Cris’ joke is priceless. They really aren’t on the same wavelength (at least, for the movie, they really are at ease with each other, but not on their thoughts/belief). Oh, and Cris still joking about everything… (though, I think it’s just her way to “flirt” maybe) just let’s keep it for later.

“No, I’m serious” and we go from a wide shot to a close shot. Joana brings back some intimacy; the shot makes the viewer understand that it’s going to be important in the next seconds. Brilliant.

And oh wow… we never saw Joana like that before. The head is forward, the jaw is a little clenched (what I mean is that her mouth is “hold”, it’s not dropping), the gaze is straight ahead, the eyebrows are a little frown, and maybe the nostrils are a little wider (not sure) + the tone is- I wouldn’t say “harsh”, but there’s still some anger/annoyance behind it + the big annoyed sigh before she starts talking + the gestures/movements she does with her head to reinforce what she says, they are quick and short (btw, when she said “the count is a son of a bitch”, the movement with her head says no, she doesn’t agree with what she says, yes guys, the details, it shows a great acting too) + the “right?” to end her sentence. She’s confronting Cris, no jokes allowed; and tbh, I like that, I like this part of her character.

(Okay, maybe you’re right, having such a deep conversation about love at the first date is a little bold; bold+1502)

(Just look at when Joana sits up) she was smiling, and now we have… a destibalized Cris (yep, again). I like how she looks up, a little to the right, it means that she’s really thinking about it + yes, she’s clearly avoiding Joana’s gaze (it takes her 6 seconds to look back at her). Oh, and I LOVE how the camera is moving between their two faces. When Joana talks, she is in the shot because Cris is looking at her; when Cris is talking and NOT looking at Joana, we only see her on screen, but when she finally looks back at Joana we have this shot :

I already said it no? BRILLIANT.

Yep, Joana seems “calmer” (good job, you see, you’re making progress!); the eyebrows are a little raised, the mouth is slightly curved, and wow, she’s like, really listening to what Cris is saying, just look at her eyes, she’s so attentive.

Look at Joana slowly starting to smile again, we see you girl. Oh, and Cris thinking she’s bad and talking about her grades starts to show some insecurities, even if she’s joking about it + she’s right even if Joana doesn’t confirm it, there’s revenge in the story (and btw later in the season too, so much foreshadowing).

I don’t know why, I just like this shot/scene in general. It’s intimate, they’re really listenning to each other (those gazes god…), and their conversation is pretty deep.

I love how they “exchanged” the shots, let me explain; now, when one of them is talking, we have the camera focused on the other, we literally see how they’re looking at each other and it means so many things: the most important isn’t their face anymore, it’s the words of the other, it’s how they’re touched by them; it’s deep because what we see on screen is Cris (okay), but it’s also Cris “seeing” herself react to Joana, how she feels about Joana’s words (you see? Yeah I know it’s really far from just looking at the body language, and maybe I’m completely misinterpreting, but it’s important). GOD I REALLY LOVE THIS SHOW BECAUSE IT’S BRILLIANT.

Oh, and on a more “down-to-earth” analysis, the frown shows that Cris is really focused, she’s attentive, even if her eyes and the curves of her mouth are more like “I’m not sure I’m following you.”

Guys, I’m not joking. Find someone who looks at you like that when you’re talking. This is beautiful.

God… on close shots like this, so many things are happening; when I said “goldmine�� earlier, I wasn’t joking guys; I really invite you to do the same, just take the time to look at the details (if you noticed the little eyebrows relaxing, and then raising really quickly; and her mouth opening a little and also relaxing around the words “happy/love story”, I’m proud of you!)

“I don’t really agree with you, honey.” The raised but at the same time frowned eyebrows, and the little movement of her head shows “surprise”, or more like “um- wait.”

“But what kind of love is that?”, thank you Cris. Wow… finally we have Cris having a deep and serious talk. And I like her vision of love (because yes, she has one!); she doesn’t understand the point of suffering: “all the count does is make her suffer”; we have a really sweet and soft Cris here.

Lips again, it’s getting redundant baby girl + when the camera was moving from Cris to her, she was already looking at her lips.

Exactly the same face from earlier, still in the “confrontation”, but this time I also see a little more “disgust” maybe, or “disbelief” (the mouth is a little more opened and the eyes are wider) but in my head it means some kind of “are you serious?” but weaker (you know? God, I really don’t have the level to do this kind of things in English).

I don’t know how to interpret the return to this shot; but I think it’s because they want to include these two in the same shot because the “when you love someone, blah-blah…” will have a real meaning for both of them later in the season, because they will both suffer of the absence and of being ignored by the other. And YES, Joana queen of foreshadowing.

I’m not talking a lot about what is said, because I don’t really like this vision of love. I know that suffering is a part of it (but it’s not love which makes you suffer, it’s how you deal with it) and that Las amistades peligrosas have a really “complicated love story”, but to me, it’s clearly not healthy. Maybe it’s love, but not the “good kind” of love, you know? Also, OF COURSE, it’s a new hint for Joana’s BPD; they suffer way more than others when it comes to not being able to spend time with people they love + all this conversation shows “something new” about Joana; I mean, it seems that she way more experienced than Cris about relationships, etc.

(Yep, Cris is a little taken aback by the “and?”)

To me, Joana’s face means some kind of “You really don’t understand what we’re talking about, don’t you?” (but soft). It’s like she’s trying to find something on Cris’ face or in her gaze (it’s really a feeling I have, I don’t know why? what? how? I just follow it and I don’t think I can interpret it; I only can notice it and share it with you).

Lips, AGAIN (and yes, her head is leaning forward). And this time, yeah, Cris was staring at her eyes she can’t have missed it; and guess what?

“Let’s look away and try to talk about something else” (yes, you’re good, you noticed that Cris’ mouth is way more opened, congrats! A little before she moves her gaze, you can see it slowly opening, even maybe her chin “trembling” but it’s really discreet).

(Do you realize that that there are so many things happening each second?) When Cris starts talking, Joana’s chin quickly rises, kind of a “come back to reality” – LIPS. AGAIN. – “What is she talking about?”.

Okay, that’s cute.

But with this joke, we come back to a wider plan; the intimacy and depth are gone.

Wait, I just realized this now but, look at their legs, they are SO close, omg.

“Oh, maybe I was wrong, my future wife is brilliant.”

Again guys, find someone who looks at you like that when you’re talking + this “Sí”; I’m dying + on the shot before Joana looks at her lips (it’s not surprising anymore) + just look how attentive she is, it’s really cute + yes, we’re back with the “intimate shot”, and the fact that we see the reaction of one girl when the other is talking.

“Excuse me, what?”

Look at her, she is so unconfident about everything she says, she can’t believe Joana likes her idea.

Yep, we’re back with that. “I said it just to say something”, one of Cris’ most important caracteristic. She thinks what she says isn’t important, or serious. Joana is, right here, the only one who takes what she says seriously. We thought that Cris is someone really confident and everything, but with this first episode we already have A LOT of hints showing that she maybe doesn’t have a that strong self-esteem as we thought, and this is a really important point.

Joana, queen of reassurance.

Can she be cuter? Come on, that’s amazing she’s so proud of herself, thanks to Joana. They already have so much “power”/effect on each other. 2 DAYS GUYS, 2 DAYS. And, yes, close shot again, we keep jumping between intimacy and “normality”, it becomes more and more fluid and natural between these two (I love this show so fucking much).

“Vale”- “Vale”; just go dig my grave.

And OMG we’re playing again with the shots, Joana is looking at Cris and then we have this:

And then the camera isn’t moving anymore, we only have cuts to show each girl, the rhythm is a little faster.

No but more seriously, I can’t catch the reaction in one picture; but the mouth and the smile dropping in the blink of an eye + her eyes widening + her body slowly going backward and raising a little.

The funniest is that we don’t see Joana at the moment, we only see Cris’ reaction and it only gives more “suspense”. This is BRILLIANT.

The camera moving with Joana, WHILE she looks at Cris’ eyes + Her gaze shifting between her eyes and her lips + Cris being completely somewhere else, trying to look away; she doesn’t process at all what’s happening.

This is cute, but at the same time I can’t help but laugh and I don’t know why xD (it’s not awkward though). Yes btw, bold+1550.

THIS. It doesn’t last long, but wow… There is so much intensity; and at the same time, it shows so many things about how they both feel. Cris is completely lost, her mouth, her jaw and her eyes, she has no control of it (wide eyes, mouth a little open; you can see this expression even more before the eye contact, because there Cris already had a little movement with her chin, kind of realizing what’s happening) + she doesn’t move at all.

At the opposite, we have a “determined” Joana, she knows what she’s doing; I mean, everything is in her gaze + the mouth and the jaw, she has a total control of it + well, she is leaning, like LEANING forward; and we stan.

This is cute; these little smiles, it takes all the rest of the awkwardness away (and there wasn’t a lot left).

It’s hard to describe everything, so I’m giving you some leads: Joana doesn’t have a lot of things to say here, her face isn’t moving a lot, everything is in her eyes, and of course some movements with her lips. On the other hand, Cris is WOW; her eyes shifting all the time and her mouth are SO EXPRESSIVE; take your time to look at everything, because in what? 5 seconds, there’s a lot.

(I’m wondering if the smile is maybe more Irene than Cris, because it quickly goes back to something a little more “apprehensive”; just a thought like that, no real analysis just a feeling.)

This last gaze… at this point I just let myself be carried by so much intimacy and tension.

Just a quick remark, it’s not a secret but Joana is so much more at ease, because Cris really can’t “stabilize” her gaze and keep the stare as Joana does.

And yep, we’re back to the same situation than in the second clip. We have Cris who immediately breaks the connection, while Joana stays in it. In any case, I don’t know if she really was ready for a kiss (let’s wait 3 long weeks now xD).

When I first watched this clip, I wasn’t really surprised by the mom coming; I mean, they didn’t make her interrupt them multiple times for nothing.

Oh, and bold+1600 just for remaining so chill and keeping this little smirk during all the “leaning forward” thing.

“For fuck sake.”

We stan a queen rolling her eyes 24/7 – We’re used to it now guys, worry, again. Her face is really like “No come on, don’t tell me you’re leaving.”; that’s cute.

(Okay, quick remark again with the shot, we have Cris’ pov who’s looking at Joana, blahblah, you understood.) A lot of people think “Now we know it, it’s Eloy texting her, she knows she almost fucked up and she’s just fleeing”; and I’m not so sure about that. First, yes of course, worry and annoyance: the worry is here with the openned mouth just before and the huge breath she takes, and annoyance, with the loud sigh, the thing with her lips, her eyes and the cold “I have to go”. Here is my opinion: if it really was Eloy, that she was supposed to meet him for exemple, why would she had asked Cris to watch the movie, perfectly knowing the length of it? No, I think it’s maybe her parents asking where she is, because maybe she hasn’t told them she was out because her reaction is close to a “I’m screwed” + a quick reaction and decision like that, I think hints again for BPD (when I say hints it’s stupid because it’s just her reacting to the world around her, but I think you understand what I mean).

Cris being so desperate: “Already?”; “Um, shouldn’t we finish the movie?”; it’s cute though, she doesn’t want her to leave, but damn it’s so clumsy xD

New aspect of Joana, she is a little destabilized and we don’t have her usual confidence. She is really avoidant with a quick, low, and weak “yes”; she is already grabbing her jacket, kind of fleeing Cris. A messy excuse “I’ve already seen it” (why are you here then? xD I mean, I know it’s not a lie because there’s a chat about it, but it just makes me laugh) + her voice is “different” you know? Yeah, really, we have a completely other Joana here.

“Fuck.”

“I’ll walk you out”, Cris really tries xD

And damn we really have Joana “pushing her away”; it’s like in the blink of an eye, she completely changed even if she’s really polite and everything, and it’s brilliant

+ Here (pictures) we have Joana with the joke and this cute smile which gives her back some confidence - but then we have the other gaze with all the “composure” she tries to keep fading again.

Some hope with the “Well, I’ll see you on Monday, right?” + You even can see (before the picture) on Cris’ agreement, we have a smile forming and she seems so relieved, that’s cute (an yes, close shot on Joana, so Cris’ pov).

Fuck, those pupils.

Cris’ emotional journey be like:

“What the hell just happened?” – Queen of eyes rolling (god, this sigh).

“It’s so unfair!” (her eyes shifting everywhere, kind of processing the situation) – The most interesting face, because I’m not sure how to interpret it. I hesitate between two things: a movement to bite her lips or cheeks or whatever; OR it’s a “common” movement, we do this kind of thing when we’re speechless, when we want to talk but nothing comes out, as if our mouth follows our thoughts but our throat doesn’t; it helps us to regain our composure in away (+ there’s so much frustration; again, all of this is here to add some humor).

We have a movement backward, to breathe a little, to let things out; and just look at this adorable gay mess, she’s so cute + “Well… at least we spent some time together, it’s not that bad…” – “Fuck, of course that’s bad! I hate my life.” + Cris closing her eyes as the ending screen comes, come on, stop being so on top…

Bold score: 1600 (congrats Mrs. Bianchi).

What I love with this clip is that it tells us what’s going to happen (they’re going to have the “No puedo evitarlo” and the “don’t you love me?”; they’re going to suffer; Cris will go through all the stages of what she calls “idiot” here). It just allows us to have a starting point for Cris and Joana’s growth through the season; and this is brilliant. And yes, we are fucking clowns.

Anyway, we finally finished this first episode! It was long, but so interesting to do. We already have so much information about Cris and Joana, that’s brilliant. Again, a quick reminder, I don’t pretend to be an expert or whatever, I just share with you my thoughts, and of course there must be a lot of mistakes and I’m sure I forgot a lot of things.

I’m going to take a little break with Skam España, which means that the next analyses won’t come soon, and I’m pretty sure I won’t do all the clips because it takes me too much time; but yes, definitely, I’ll write other reaction, don’t worry about that!

Reilin Headcanons

Nobody asked for this but y’all can’t stop me. Also I haven’t really read these books in a long time so idk how much of this lines up with the canon.

Rollan catches the feels for Meilin after watching her win that fight against that warrior who was twice her size on their first mission.

Tbh he kind of misses the fact that he does though because he doesn’t really know what love felt like.

Abeke notices before he does.

Tarik does too.

It takes Conor the longest but he knows before Rollan does.

Meilin realizes she likes him when he’s sick and dying in the jungle and she realizes how afraid she is to lose him.

Then Meilin almost falls down a crevasse in Artica and after Rollan calms down he starts think ‘wait what this isn’t hatred wtf is this feeling.’

Their feelings for each other only get stronger during and after the whole Fire and Ice mission.

After that mission Rollan is pretty messed up from his mother trying to kill him and kind of just shuts down

Abeke thinks he just needs space. Conor tries to distract him. Tarik tries to get him to talk but none of them can give him what he needs.

Tarik notices Meilin isn’t trying anything. She’s just keeping her distance.

He asks her why and she says that every time Rollan and her talk they fight so she doesn’t want to hurt him more.

Tarik tells her that maybe the fact that she’s so worried about hurting him is exactly why she’s the one who can help.

So Meilin just goes to where Rollan is sulking and tosses him a bo staff.

“What’s this for?”

“Get up. I’m gonna teach you.”

They don’t talk. Not really. But the others notice that Rollan starts snarking again. (This is when Conor notices.)

When Meilin gets forced to betray them, Rollan doesn’t really process it for a while but then suddenly one day he turns to see her reaction to a joke Conor told and it just hits him like damn he loves this girl.

Meilin tries not to think about Rollan while she’s captive but Gerathon’s already seen her thoughts. The snake knows how much she cares about Rollan.

This leads to her using nightmares of an injured or dying Rollan even more than Meilin’s other friends to torment her and try to break her.

After everything Rollan awkwardly asks if Meilin wants to stay in Amaya with him.

She wants to. But she knows that Zhong needs her as much as Nilo and Eura need Abeke and Conor.

Fast forward 10-15 years, and Rollan proposes to Meilin in the middle of battle.

Picture Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan’s wedding. It’s that. It’s literally that. Lenori or somebody officiates.

Later they do have an actual party mostly because Abeke and Conor were offended they didn’t get to be maid of honor and best man but it’s more of a Tea Ceremony because Meilin wants to be traditional and Rollan just doesn’t care.

To a lot of the public it’s kind of a scandal because the daughter of a Zhong general is marrying a street kid from Amaya.

But they’re both big heroes so nobody dares to say anything too big.

Rollan remembers how hard it was when he was a kid, so he and Meilin adopt a lot of kids off the streets. They take in 6 or 7 at a time and adopt new ones when the oldests grow up.

Some of the assholish Greencloaks are a little pissed that they never hand over any of their kids that summon spirit animals without question; they always make sure the kid knows potential consequences and makes their own choice.

Eventually they do decide to have a kid that will be theirs by blood. (Most of the kids they adopt are somewhere between 5 and 15, so they’ve never gotten to do the whole ‘baby’ thing.)

They have a son, and that son ends up with roughly 2 dozen older brothers and sisters, most of whom were in a gang at some point, (or still are) so nobody ever messes with him.

Their son’s name is Tarik. Rollan actually cries when he turns 11 and summons an otter.

So this is not in order of preference, just as they spring to mind. All my ships are important to me, but naturally I have ones that really work for me even outside of what I share with partners, the ones that I end up thinking about for my own fan-crazed enjoyment.

1. Frostiron. I mean, you knew this was gonna be at the top regardless. Even though it only started from that one scene in the Avengers, I love the idea of the dynamic. The snarky hero/villain combo working to calm one another’s flaws or instead crash and burn spectacularly; the MCU smol and tol; the big heart to melt the icy one; the machine to mix with the magic. My enjoyment of it is insatiable, hence why I have many Tony partners all of whom I love for their individual takes on the relationship.

2. Thorki. I’ve said it before. I ship it, have since about 3 months into making this blog. It’s only recently I’ve started opening my doors to playing it, with appropriate tagging. I know it’s uncomfortable for some depending on how you approach fiction and how it meets with reality, or that it just doesn’t do anything for you, and that’s fair. For me, I adore the chemistry, taking their physicality and passion to a different level. The actors are both hot, the characters’ relationship is captivating and volatile with so much to draw on and explore. Thor is Loki’s most important person. He dies for him. They are yin/yang to one another so it’s inevitable they’d be prime shipping material, problematic or not.

3. Strangefrost/Froststrange. Yeah, I never know which way round it’s meant to be XD These two deserved more time together in the MCU (and we might get that in upcoming stuff), but just one exchange in Ragnarok makes for a fiery, snarky starting point. Comic-wise there’s a ton to draw on, but either way what’s not to like? Two sorcerers with different approaches to magic, a taste for the finer things in life, and sarcastic demeanours. This ship has such a great opportunity for lonely wizards to find solace and explore the heights of magical sex.

4. Frostshield. I don’t have enough of this but the idea is so much fun. Loki spends so much time mocking Cap, shapeshifting into him more than once. They clash hard but that leaves so many avenues: Cap-softens-Loki, Loki-corrupts-Cap, angst abound.

5. Blackfrost/Frostwidow. Can you tell I like the dangerous/volatile dynamic? They both use deception and infiltration throughout their lives, rarely trusting anyone. After his encounter with her on the Helicarrier, Loki is impressed with Natasha’s methods, how they can play one another and expose each other’s weaknesses. The ship’s delicious for angsty, broken souls helping heal one another or just plain messing each other up.

6. Geroki/Frostwitcher. I’m inventing the names. I got obsessed with the world of the Witcher from both the series and TW3 and man, Loki paired with Geralt (or tbh Jaskier or both) is a thirst. Loki fits both the bard and sorcerer roles so throwing him in with grumpy, sexy Geralt works so well imo.

7. Frostsparrow/Sparroki. More made-up stuff. I’m hooked on this new ship too, I swear. Two flamboyant tricksters getting up to mischief is something I never knew I needed in my life but Loki’s not about to let it go XD

8. Lokicest. I snuck another one on the list. Who better for his own company to excite and amuse? With canonically more than one Loki in the MCU it’s practically a given to have them mess around and wilfully abuse the laws of nature. Especially if it’ll horrify everyone else.

Other ships I haven’t detailed that I love are: Loki/Sif (Sifki), Loki/Amora, Loki/Valkyrie (Lokyrie), LokiVision, Venom/Eddie/Loki. These are all especially favourites but doesn’t mean I don’t love all the other ships I have!

hello!!! what an honor!! oh my… ok I’m so sorry in advance… I’ve gotten a few similar asks and I started writing out a list and it was getting over 1500 words long so I had to try to chill out…so…

LUPIN III CRASH COURSE

I’m sorry that this is so long.. and consider I cut it down! but here is my intro because I know this franchise is huge and confusing!! (I’ve had multiple instances of friends being like ‘I tried to find that Lupin thing you like but I could only find the third one?’)

I kind of liken it to Scooby Doo? it stretches some 60 years and has been handled by many different writers, directors, and animators across very different eras? most important to know! the order doesn’t really matter and things aren’t really sequential (save for where the three most recent shows) so you can jump in and explore whatever seems compelling! it’s overwhelming because there is so much but also nice because there’s something for everybody! if you like fun and pure, edgy, etc. etc.

feel free to disregard everything coming… I will say my personal priority order is

- Castle of Cagliostro

- some episode of part 2

- part IV, ideally all of it! there’s filler but it’s hard to know which ones

- part I (or some episodes of it? up to you!)

- Fuma Conspiracy

- part V

- part III (it’s great too!! just not as sequential as IV and V)

- First Contact… truly indulgent but its so cute!

(below I broke down a little about each and my favorite episodes, where to find them, etc. and there’s so much more but just doing everything below is a whole lot)

TV (All the shows except for The Woman Called Fujiko Mine are on Crunchyroll!)

Part 1 (1971) - crunchyroll!

The beginnings kind of a weird feeling because the first half was directed with one vision vs. the second half being co-directed by Takahata and Miyazaki, there’s a shift in Lupin’s personality and most significantly they sought to shed his ‘sense of apathy’ and make him more of a hero? something that’s echoed later on! honestly, I don’t think the transition is as dramatic as some people find it? but it does shift across the episodes and end on a sweet note!

truly they all have something to enjoy but I made note of

episodes 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 16, 18, 19, 23

for some reason? really really suggest watching the last episode! but get a bit of the first and second half beforehand!

Part II/Red Jacket (1977-80) - 155 episodes - on crunchyroll dubbed and subbed

there are a lot so I tried to narrow it down to a few of my favorites/ particularly noteworthy ones? I bolded my absolute favorites! I’m sure I missed a few but save for a few two-episode arcs you can jump in anywhere and it’ll be fine.

episodes 1-79 are dubbed on Crunchyroll! In my personal opinion the script makes it worth it!! there are a bunch of non-dubbed episodes anyway if you want to get a feel for both

(these episode titles are often hilarious, misleading, and/or horribly embarrassing?)

1 - ‘The Return of Lupin the Third’ - just a good starting point!

5 - ‘Will the Leaning Tower of Pisa Be Standing?’

6 - ‘Tutankhamen’s 3,000-Year-Old Curse’

7 - ‘Venetian Super Express’ - I want to say this is a cute little road trip episode? it’s been so long

9 - ‘Steal the FIle M123’ - this dub… madness. very strange Christopher Walken impression for absolutely no reason?

10 - ‘Bet on the Monaco Grand Prix’

15 - ‘Crude Reproduction, Perfect Frame’ - Lupin keeps committing strange and uncharacteristic crimes, but he has no memory of doing so!

29 - ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ - Lupin has some mysterious Levitation Technique and everyone is after it

32 - ‘Lupin the Interred’ A famed hitman is after Lupin!

34 - ‘But Your Brother Was Such A Nice Guy’ - this episode is one of the zaniest ones and that’s saying a lot… Vampires? Jesus? Really really funny moments though especially in the dub

42 - ‘Cruisin’ in Drag’ Lupin infiltrates the ship of a wealthy bachelor disguised as a woman

45 - ‘Diamonds and Minx’ kind of a mess of people stealing from each other?

46 - ‘The Island of Dr. Derange’

57 - ‘Alter-Ego Maniac’ - Inspector Zenigata goes criminal

62 - ‘Church of the Poison Mind’ - Jigen and Goemon stumble into a religious cult

69 - ‘Zenigata Getcha Into My Life’ - this title is awful but this episode is great.

78 - ‘Ice, Robot’ - an inventor has made a machine that can cry diamonds!

79 - ‘Baton Death March’

81 - ‘Fujiko, Men are a Sorry Lot!” - Fujiko gets engaged to a Prince, the rest of the gang goes after the monarchy’s Golden Bell

96 - ‘Lupin’s Gourmet World’ tbh this is a vore episode but there are some great gang moments here and a really fun third act

99 - ‘Fighting Jigen’ - first anime episode (I think like in history? but I could’ve misread) in stereo! And I believe the first to air of the TMS staff’s work, you can tell because the style shifts to a more Miyazaki/Cagliostro look and this will keep happening for the rest of the show

101 - ‘Fervent Love at Versailles’ - a crossover episode with Rose of Versailles!

103 - ‘The Wolf Looked at an Angel’ - Goemon is an angel I can say little else

104 - ‘The Most Dangerous Golden Bed’ - debut of perhaps the best opening! I love this episode?? so much?

112 - ‘Danger! Goemon’

122 - ‘An Unusual End to an Expedition for Napoleon’s Treasure’

143 - ‘The Miami Bank’

145 - ‘Wings of Death: Albatross’ - ah yes, one of the famed Miyazaki-directed episode, truly so worth it

151 - ‘To Arrest Lupin, the Mission at the Highway’ - another not exactly Miyazaki episode but a lot of the people he trained? They depart from the part 2 style(s) again but its a good bit of fun all around! Really lovely character animation

152 - ‘Jigen and the Hatless Pistol’ - Jigen loses his hat and thus his ability to shoot

155 - ‘Thieves Love the Peace/Farewell, Dear Lupin’ - the finale episode! Miyazaki-directed as well, and just beautiful

Part III (1984) - 50 episodes - crunchyroll!

I’m still very early in this one so I can’t say much yet! But it gets a bad rep? Perhaps for being more inconsistent stylistically and a bit on the zanier end! But I really like it!! these drawings are such a blast! I think each bit has its merits and this one is no exception. Plus with all their freedom animation-wise they can do a lot of fun stuff!

The Woman Called Fujiko Mine (2012) - 13 episodes - on kissanime for certain and I think animetake?

this is the most dramatic departure from the rest of the shows/films/specials. Fujiko Mine is the star of this part! It definitely has less obviously plot-important episodes but it’s one narrative from start to finish. I must note that it’s by far Lupin’s edgiest, I think it’d be safe to deem this part as R-Rated. There’s sex, violence, sexual violence, abuse, bodily mutilation, obsession… a gay character who gets a pretty tragic fate (at first I was excited by the very existence of an LGBT+ character but he really goes through the wringer and never gets a resolution.. I don’t want to spoil). This is probably Lupin at his ickiest? I do like Jigen’s personality here! And his dynamic with Fujiko, but it’s a lot more disjointed than the other parts. She meets each of them separately and towards the end, Lupin and Jigen interact more but there’s barely a time when they’re all together. That’s not meant to be a deterrent but personally, I’m a sucker for their friendship and love them as a group so it’s a bit of a bummer. Sequential plot-wise though! This one is definitely captivating, a bit disturbing, and there is a plot-twist that really got me. The villain design is really cool too!

Part IV (2015) - 26 episodes - on crunchyroll, also dubbed on Funimation

This part is narrative-based and sequential! It still has some more standalone episodes but there’s definitely an overarching story throughout! I think they’re all worth watching and might leave little important bits that’ll be confusing later on. Essentially this part takes place in Italy for the most part and starts with Lupin getting married to a multi-millionaire heiress/model/celebrity who wants to get into the thief business. This one feels like a good combination of old and new, it’s not quite as silly as the earlier parts can be, but it’s full of nostalgia while still feeling original. I really had a good time!

This dub isn’t bad but!! It comes with a different opening and soundtrack, I guess Lupin’s pretty big in Italy and perhaps there were licensing issues? I’m not sure? But it’s a bit of a bummer to be without the Yuji Ohno soundtrack. The alternate opening feels more like a collection of stills and footage found throughout the show? It’s not horrible, just different! Regardless, the Part IV Japanese OP (vs. the Italian/US one) is worth a watch!

Part V (2018, airing on Adult Swim right now, summer 2019!) - 23 episodes

I’m actually not done with this part but its good fun! more directly tied to part iv then the others are to each other. It’s more sequential as well with a few sub-arcs and since it fell on the franchise’s anniversary it has callback episodes with Lupin in various jackets in various tones. Interesting Lupin characterization here… he seems… sadder, wistful? and we get hints of Lupin lore! Lots of fanservice but… I love it! I still think they could’ve pushed it more? it feels somehow more reserved than part IV in some ways, which is already different from the 70s and 80s, but it’s got a lot of lovely moments!!

Films/TV Specials

From 1989 to 2011 they had a special every year!! So much!

Castle of Cagliostro (1979) - Available on Netflix!

perhaps the best-known piece of media in the Lupin franchise? And rightly so. This film is Hayao Miyazaki’s directing debut and a blast from start to finish! This characterization of Lupin is definitely Miyazaki’s more than Monkey Punch’s but that seems to be the strange nature of the Lupin franchise! I could really go on forever… please watch it!

The Fuma Conspiracy (1987) -

perhaps harder to find, but it’s on Kissanime! Goemon is getting married but before the ceremony is over the bride is taken by the Fuma ninja clan and the gang helps him to get her back as well as learn the story of a family heirloom? Really great stuff from everybody! Adorable Zenigata, the fluffiest and most handsome Goemon, cute Jigen, Fujiko, and Lupin interactions, a really really incredible car chase! Even with Cagliostro’s fame, this one has got some serious pizzazz

Episode 0: The First Contact (2002) - on Kissanime as well!

A journalist asks Jigen how he met Lupin III, this is probably my favorite TV special? And features one of my favorite opening scenes in the whole franchise. The instrumental!! Perhaps each member of the gang at their purest, whatever that means, really great moments between everybody and peak Lupin and Jigen meeting and somehow signing up to be life partners
