Friendship from my perspective
I go through phases, where I see other groups of females having fun together, being that close they sleep in the same bed after a night out and spooning each other or a work colleague takes time out of her busy schedule to call her bestie and talk her through a panic attack.
... And I feel like Iâm missing out, I feel like I should have these female friends, that I can be totally myself around, almost wishing I was out with them on that night out they shared on their Snapchat story.
I donât have many friends, after realising I wasnât worth much to some, I blocked and deleted them because they were draining my energy, reading my messages (checking up on them) and then not replying, kept asking them, is everything okay? You wanna meet up soon? Have I done something wrong? (this is just within the last year)
At school I was the reject girl no one liked, I wasnât pretty, I wasnât skinny, I wasnât as confident or outgoing compared to most girls in my school, barely any girls wanted to be my friend until I started my GCSEs and I had 2 friends, who up until recently Iâve just started talking to and meeting up with again.
Out of school I was friends with a girl from another school, who was also bullied, she was my best friend at the time and after she ran away from home she soon became my foster sister and started living with me. We both had crushes, all teenage girls do, I would know who hers was, but Iâd never say anything to him. However when she knew who my crush was, she had to have all the attention. One prime example would be that we were at my friends house who I had a crush on, she took his belt off and put it on herself and made my crush and his friend chase after her all around the house, I was sat on the sofa the entire time, not having the best time of course. And this happened multiple times when we were kids. Around 2 years ago we went to the pub where her bf worked, and she was chatting up a bloke from her school âfor meâ but you could tell she loved the male attention, tying not to make it look like she was enjoying it too much, due to the fella keeping a watchful eye on her. We arenât friends anymore
I was friends with 3 girls in sixth form, 1 of which used to bully me in primary school, and another got drunk and involved me and her best friend in a car accident, I have a statement to the police and she got a driving ban but her other friend didnât, to protect her, I guess I may have done the wrong thing in terms of âthe girl codeâ but her excuse was that she was having a hard time because she THOUGHT she may have been pregnant after having sex with a stranger abroad.. (like worrying about being pregnant is the main thing here, she could have gotten a nasty STI!?) and I just felt like, so you put your friends in danger all because you canât keep your fucking legs closed. We arenât friends anymore
When I was about 18 I made friends with a 14 year old who was a bit alternative, was mature for her age but certainly showed her real age when she drank alcohol, got giddy etc. We were friends for a long time and I classed her as my best friend at this time in my life, she also had another best friend who she lost touch with a little over the next few years after this, we used to make a thing about getting together every weekend to get drunk and stay at each otherâs houses, make each other food, going shopping, all the girly stuff I craved doing with my mates in school, Iâd reverted back to a 14 year old. We fell out a couple of times but she left school and got into working at make up counters. when she turned 18 she became a manager at Clinique in Debenhams and she seemed to change, she went from the skater girl I first met, who drank lambrini on the skate park to this blonde, pompous, Prosecco drinking arrogant twat.. her and another girl who hung around with us at the skatepark moved in together, I was asked to go out to Nonnas (a posh bar) after I broke up with someone but that wasnât the reason she wanted to meet up, as she then said she would have to have a movie night with her dad, then again changed her mind because her dad said they and do it another time.. then asked if someone else could join us for âProseccoâ, during this meet up, I was able to tell my friend what my ex had done for me to dump him, and she sat and told me that I just need to find someone whoâs different from me, then carried on a conversation with the other friend she had invited, every time I tried to have an input it was like they were singling me out, every time I went to say something, someone butted in and started talking about something else, I mentioned a trip they went on without me and that was the topic of conversation for the rest of my stay, I got interrupted again by the other friend shouting âletâs get cocktailsâ knowing they were ÂŁ7 a cocktail and normally I wouldnât expect my friends to pay that much for a drink for me, but this time it was like nah fuck it, you can pay, they got martinis in tall pretty glasses and I had an amaretto sour, it only took me till they both turned their backs to me to put their drinks neatly in front of a plant on the other side of the table to take a picture and upload it to Instagram tagging each other in it but not me and then captioned it as âjust out with the bestieâ no plural, shortly after I said Iâm leaving after this drink and this cigarette and I did. There was some discussion about that evening, my friend did say she was sorry and that she didnât think but then I felt like I was the friend that gets invited out when no one else is available, Iâm the last resort, Iâm the boring friend that isnât any fun when I go out with a group of people, that group of friends were just not involving me in anything anymore and again was being ignored on messages. We are not friends anymore
I was friends with a girl who lived in a womenâs refuge at the time, who had mental health problems, we became friends because I was making my way to the skatepark after seeing my boyfriend and she was leaving, I asked her why she was leaving and she said because she was being bullied, I said letâs get some weed and take the piss out of them, so we did and we spent nearly every day together after that, but she only stayed with me because I had weed for her to smoke, she kept promising she would get some when she got paid but never did, she got with my next door neighbour and once asked me for some fake tan and I said there will be some somewhere, when I found it I told her where it was and Iâd get it for her when I remember, the next day it was gone and I asked her if she had taken it, she said no, however she slipped up by saying the brand of the fake tan, (St Moriz) and staying how it affects her skin, I knew she had lied and had it out with her and she apologised for lieing and stealing, I gave her one last chance, she called me crying saying she had enough of everyone, so I told her to come over to my place, have a night off smoking weed and just chill and have a pamper night, she said she will when sheâs done something I asked her what it was and she said she was waiting for someone to come back to Queenâs Park so she can have a smoke with them, so around 2 hours went by and I called her again, she said she was still waiting for this guy, so I told her, do you think you can use me? Do you think you can just use my home like a hotel? And use me for weed? It was clear she was using me due to the fact she was staying where the weed were. We fell out for ages but we became friends again recently (no where near as close)
I was once friends with another girl who had mental health problems, she wanted to move to Sheffield after us being close for a while, she got with someone who was already living there, she saved my life as well, if it wasnât for her Iâd have committed suicide.. seriously.. she split with said guy, moved back to her mums for a bit and then moved back to Sheffield, she told me before she left that she would never forget about me or leave me out because she has an âattachment disorderâ and that she is attached to me as a friend. We met up once the first time she moved and I arranged it, and I saw her when she was living with her mum but then when she moved back again, she uploaded a pic to her insta that she wouldnât normally upload, she isnât the kind to post pics of body parts letâs just say, so this was weird for me to see, so I asked about it and she basically shunted me and said if you donât like it fuck off, I was just trying to understand why she felt the need to upload a pic like that, to get male attention essentially. She told me sheâs into DDLG (dominant daddy little girl) but she said it wasnât ever sexual whenever she entered âlittle spaceâ where she would talk and act like a 4 - 7 year old girl, colouring in colouring books, having a stuffed toy and a dummy in her mouth (she called the dummy her âpaciâ as in pacifier) I got her to send me a link to a website that explains it in simple terms, I read it and still didnât understand why she uploaded this picture, she said it was because her insta is like an online scrapbook and she said she thought she looked good in the photo and said she was doing it from a feminist perspective (which I just do not understand) but I respected this anyway and moved on from it even though, in my opinion, she should have more self respect, sorry for being old fashioned but that is just me. Photos arenât yours once they reach the internet.. Js. After this I kept messaging her, checking in with her, asking if she wanted to meet up and things, I even texted her one day and as a joke I said you arenât ignoring me are you? And she did in fact ignore me. Eventually after getting sick and tired of being ignored and getting upset about possible reasons why, I decided, this no longer serves me, and blocked and deleted her on all my social media profiles. We are no longer friends
I was friends with another girl with mental health issues, when I first met her she wouldnât go out drinking, she just invited me over for a sleepover with alcohol and some munchies, which is still amazing, but I just spontaneously asked if she wanted to go out and honestly it was probably one of the best nights both of us had in ages. She started to come out of her shell a bit, we did a lot of things together and got quite close, we had such a laugh when we got drunk together, I probably miss her the most to be honest.. she fell out with me because she thought I was taking her for granted and perhaps I was without realising at the time but no, completely dropped me on my head and said âI donât want anything to do with you anymore, Iâve had enough of being a doormatâ not just with me but she had pied everyone off that she though werenât good enough to be her friend, soon enough she had no friends but I stay in touch with her cousin and I spoke to her and she said she would pass on a message for me (after about 6 months or more) I didnât get a message straight away but eventually I got a text from this girl, basically saying sorry itâs taken so long to message, that she had been thinking about what to actually message me, I wanted her to know that if she didnât have anyone, Iâm still here, cause I never meant any harm in the first place, she told me she just had enough and ended up fucking everyone off and her bf were the only friend she had left because she admitted she was too hard on some people. She went back into her shell and seemed to like it there, she came out drinking but only till around 10pm on New Yearâs Eve 2018 with her bf and that was the last time I saw her, I tried to check on her and ask if she wanted to meet up, I got a rude reply from her bf which she apologised on his behalf for... and then continued to ignore me, the last message I sent was, have I done something wrong?? And I told myself, Iâll wait a week - a week went by and still no reply so I blocked and deleted her as well.
I started working for a company and a college friend helped me get the job, over the course of 2 years I got to know her a lot better, also had mental health problems, only she self harmed... A LOT and then covered the scars with tattoos, she told me why she self harms one day, she used to invite me to the pub but I never had the money or energy after working at a dog grooming salon - we had a new manager and we spoke about what she is and isnât doing properly, I said one thing is that she isnât sticking to the bookings, I would book in a specific breed with myself so that I could put it in my portfolio because itâs what I needed to move forward onto the assessment I needed to do, and because my manager had a big dog booked in with her, she would swap the dog I needed with the big dog so I had to groom the big dog and she could groom the cute small one instead. We bitched about our new manager quite a lot. I had been suspended in my first year because the girl that got me the job, reported me to management after I came in one morning while the main shop wasnât open, the night before I checked my bookings and everything was fine but when I arrived for my shift, I had a labradoodle which required two people to groom her, she was very nervous, and I had it swapped onto my bookings because the girl that got me the job wanted to groom the smaller dog on her own, the nervous dog was pulling her legs away from me but the girl told management that I was pulling at her legs and swearing at her (WHEN SAID GIRL ACTUALLY PUNCHED A FUCKING DOG IN THE LEG WHILE I WAS RESTRAINING IT FOR HER - YOUâRE WELCOME BY THE WAY - THATS HOW A TEAM WORKS, YOU FUCKING HELP) after being suspended I was investigated and disciplined as gross misconduct, not only this but a lot of bitching and a lot of rumours later, (roughly a year later - after I had been signed off work with anxiety and depression) I came back and during my day I had to deal with a customer complaint, I asked both the girl and another colleague to support me by putting my next dog back in a cage while I help a customer make a complaint, no management were around so I had to wait with the customer, I hadnât realised that when I came into the main salon area that my next dog was still hooked up to what we call a noose, so I put him away and carried on, I got suspended that day as well and later investigated and had a disciplinary hearing for gross misconduct - the girl told me she felt guilty and shouldnât have gone to management and should have helped me, I was asked if I would like to be taken out of the grooming salon and into the shop, I basically said you can stick your job up your arse, cause Iâd had enough of everyone in the grooming salon banding together to purposefully make me anxious and picking on me. Even this girls parents donât like me, they look at me in disgust and I even saw this girl yesterday, while she walked past she must have seen me and she muttered under her breath âooohh godâ oh I am sorry for my mere existence?? Iâm sorry for doing absolutely nothing to you to deserve being stabbed in the back like that. I actually thought we were friends. I was clearly wrong to think that.
So this now brings me to a sort of conclusion, where I say something like, so all you bitches can suck a dick. No, Iâve held onto this for years, and I canât seem to let go. I donât understand why I get misunderstood and mistreated by so-called friends, I donât understand why people think itâs a normal thing to stab your friend in the back when all theyâve done is try to be there for you, cause Iâve been through some shit, but I think this hurts me the most, when I look back at friendships that have broken down either because of my actions or their actions, I just canât seem to get closure on this and I canât seem to let it go either.
So all I ask is this, if you think youâve been mentioned on this or you think youâve done something really shitty towards me, then please have some fucking balls, PM me and tell me what the fuck I have done wrong to deserve this bullshit? So I can ACTUALLY understand why? And maybe ACTUALLY move on and be able to enjoy my life a little more? Stop being a shitty person all ya fuckin life

Biden, Trump campaigns get ready for debate | News, Sports, Jobs
WASHINGTON (AP) â Ahead of the first debate between President Donald Trump and his Democratic challenger Joe Biden, each campaign is promising a stark contrast in policy, personality and preparation.
Trump has decided to skip formal preparation, though he said Sunday that former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and his former 2016 primary rival, Chris Christie, are helping him.
âWe had a little debate prep before we came here,â Trump told reporters as Giuliani and Christie looked on in the press briefing room at the White House.
And while Bidenâs team believes the significance of the debate may be exaggerated, the Democratic nominee has been aggressively preparing to take on the president.
Bidenâs campaign has been holding mock debate sessions featuring Bob Bauer, a senior Biden adviser and former White House general counsel, playing the role of Trump, according to a person with direct knowledge of the preparations who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal strategy. Bauer has not actually donned a Trump costume in line with Trump stand-ins from previous years, but he is representing his style and expected strategy.
âIâm sure the president will throw everything he can at (Biden). My guess is that theyâre preparing for that â bombarding him with insults and weird digressions,â said Jay Carney, a former aide to Biden and President Barack Obama.
Trump and Biden are scheduled to meet on the debate stage for the first time tonight at Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. The 90-minute event, moderated by Fox News host Chris Wallace, is the first of three scheduled presidential debates. Vice President Mike Pence and California Sen. Kamala Harris, Bidenâs running mate, will debate in October.
For some, the debates represent the most important moments in the 2020 campaignâs closing days, a rare opportunity for millions of voters to compare the candidatesâ policies and personalities side-by-side on prime-time television. Trump trails Biden in the polls, a reality that gives the president an urgent incentive to change the direction of the contest on national television if he can.
Others, including those close to Bidenâs campaign, do not expect the debates to fundamentally change the race no matter what happens, given the pandemic and the economy. They also point to high-profile debates in past elections that were thought to be game-changing moments at the time but that ultimately had little lasting effect.
Those with knowledge of Bidenâs preparations suggest he will not take the fight to Trump if he can avoid it. But on Saturday, at least, he was on the attack when he discussed his strategy on MSNBC.
âIâm prepared to go out and make my case as to why I think heâs failed and why I think the answers I have to proceed will help the American people, the American economy and make us safer internationally,â Biden said, arguing that Trump wonât convince voters with broadsides because âthe people know the president is a liar.â
He also compared Trump to Adolf Hitlerâs propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels, saying, âHeâs sort of like Goebbels. You say the lie long enough, keep repeating, repeating, repeating, it becomes common knowledge.â
While Biden has said he will try to be a fact checker of sorts on stage, the Democrat is being advised to avoid direct confrontations and instead redirect the conversation to more familiar campaign themes of unity and issues that matter most to voters: the economy, health care and the pandemic.
âArguing over facts, litigating whether what heâs saying is accurate, that is not winning to Biden,â said Jen Psaki, a former Obama aide who is close to Bidenâs team. âThis is an opportunity to speak directly to the American people. His objective should be to speak directly to them, but not be pulled in by Trump. That is hard.â
Trump aides and allies, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal strategy, said heading into the weekend that Trump had not been in formal preparations. The president offered mixed messages Sunday with his confirmation that Giuliani and Christie were prepping him, essentially combining to play the role of Biden. Yet Trump downplayed the sessions.
âSometimes you can go too much in that stuff,â Trump said, arguing that he defeated Hillary Clinton four years ago despite her extensive debate preparation.
The president added that he takes far more questions from the White House press corps than Biden takes from the reporters covering his campaign, arguing those sessions with reporters are a form of debate prep.
Trump offered a preview of his approach when mused that Bidenâs previous debate performances were influenced by medication. Heâs offered no evidence. First in a tweet and later at the White House, Trump said he would demand that Biden take a drug test and that he would take one as well.
Trumpâs message seemed to be an attempt at both tripping up Biden and preemptively offering an explanation to his supporters if the Democratic nominee has a strong performance.
Biden, in Delaware on Sunday, laughed and declined to comment when asked about Trumpâs baseless assertions.
Privately some aides and allies are worried that Trumpâs lack of formal preparation will lead him to fall into the same hubris trap as other incumbents in their first general election debate. Obama, for example, famously struggled in his first matchup against Republican Mitt Romney in 2012.
But other Trump backers are confident that the president is ready to handle any tough questions or pushback from Biden.
âThe debates matter,â said Lara Trump, a senior adviser to the campaign and the presidentâs daughter-in-law. âDonald Trump certainly did a great job on the debates (in 2016) and I think this will be no different.â
Lara Trump also seemed to simultaneously raise and lower expectations for Biden.
âJoe Biden spent a lot of time in his basement to study up. Heâs been in this game for 47 years. I assume heâll do OK,â she said. âQuite frankly, the bar has been lowered so much for Joe Biden that if he stays awake for the whole thing itâs like maybe he won.â
The mixed messages were in line with those of Trumpâs allies who spent much of the year raising questions about Bidenâs physical and mental strength, while in recent days trying to cast him as a strong and experienced debater facing a relative neophyte in Trump.
A former reality show star, the president is keenly aware of the power and pitfalls of live television. Aides say that he is acutely mindful of the power of âmomentsâ to define how a debate is perceived and that he intends to make his share of them happen.
Terry McAuliffe, the former Virginia governor and onetime national Democratic chair, said Biden must fashion a succinct, debate-stage version of his message since the spring: Draw a straight line from Trumpâs personal deficiencies to his handling of the pandemic, its economic fallout and the national reckoning on race and then explain why a Biden presidency would be different.
âTrumpâs just looking for a Hail Mary here,â McAuliffe said. âHe knows heâs in trouble.â

LAS VEGAS â Tyson Fury overcame a terrible cut and a stiff challenge from Otto Wallin to successfully defend his lineal heavyweight title via unanimous decision (116-112, 117-111, 118-110) in front of 8,249 fans at T-Mobile Arena Saturday evening. Fury, cut from a punch in the third round, survived some anxious moments and rebounded to take control of the bout. Wallin buzzed Fury in the 12th round with a left hand, but Fury weathered the last-ditch effort. Fury now has his sights set on a much-discussed early 2020 rematch with WBC world champion Deontay Wilder.
"Congrats to Otto â and God bless his father and let him rest in peace," Fury said. "He would be very proud of Ottoâs performance.
"It was a great fight I got cut earlier on the eyelid and changed the fight completely. I couldnât see out of the left eye and there was a lot of clashes. "Deontay Wilder, I want you next, bum!
Navarrete KOs Elorde Four weeks removed from his last fight, Emanuel "Vaquero" Navarrete stopped No. 2 contender Juan Miguel Elorde in four rounds to retain his WBO junior featherweight world title for the third time. Navarrete knocked down Elorde in the third round and had him in trouble in the fourth, forcing referee Russell Mora to stop the fight. âIâm happy because I think I put on a great performance. Fortunately, my opponent is OK, and I came out here to put on a show," Navarrete said. "I hope the fans enjoyed it on my very first Las Vegas show on Mexican Independence Day Weekend. âVaqueroâ Navarrete is here to stay.â â Jose "Chon" Zepeda, who gave current WBC/WBO super lightweight world champion Jose Ramirez all he could handle in February, won a clear 10-round unanimous decision over former two-weight world champion Jose "Sniper" Pedraza. All three judges scored the bout 97-93. âItâs probably one of the best days of my life. Itâs Mexican Independence Day. I was giving everything for Mexico," Zepeda said. âI guess persistence {was the key to victory}. The people here were giving me excitement to go get him, to go after this guy. We knew that he was a hell of a boxer. Thank God Iâm the third one that beat him. The other two were elite fighters. Iâm happy for that. âThere were talks that maybe the winner of this fight would go after Ramirez. For me, the rematch, I would like that. It was a very close fight. A lot of people thought I won, a lot of people thought he won. I would love a rematch. I think the people would love it, too.â Said Pedraza: âIt was a very good fight. He looked very well, and I just couldn't do any of the things I wanted to do. Nothing came out the way I wanted. The instruction from my corner was to throw more punches, but nothing was going my way. "This was my debut at 140. I felt good. I will meet with my team to evaluate if we stay at 140, or if we move down in weight." â Former super flyweight world champion Carlos Cuadras (39-3-1, 27 KOs) scraped by the upset-minded veteran Jose Maria Cardenas (17-5, 14 KOs) via 10-round unanimous decision (95-95, 96-94 2x). Cuadras has now won three in a row and is prime position to challenge for another world title. âI did what I had to do to get the win," Cuadras said. "I donât care what he says. I connected the most powerful and definitive shots. I won the fight.â âThis was a total robbery," Cardenas said. "I clearly won the fight. I want an immediate rematch.â â Undefeated 19-year-old phenom Gabriel Flores Jr. (15-0, 6 KOs) secured a workmanlike six-round unanimous decision over Miguel Angel Aispuro (12-9-2, 8 KOs) by identical scores of 60-54. âItâs always a thrill to fight here in Las Vegas," Flores said. "This has been a great year for me as I continue to develop as a fighter. Iâll be back soon.â â Tyson Fury stablemate Isaac Lowe (19-0-3, 6 KOs) overcame a difficult challenge from Mexican veteran Ruben Garcia Hernandez (25-5-2, 11 KOs), but he closed the show strong to earn the eight-round unanimous decision (77-75 2x and 78-74) in a super featherweight bout. â In matchup of unbeaten super bantamweights, Iskander Kharsan (7-0, 6 KOs) knocked down and punished Isidro Ochoa (7-1, 3 KOs) until Ochoaâs corner stopped the bout following the fifth round.

Trump, Xi Agree To Restart Commerce Talks; No New Tariffs On Chinese language Items
http://tinyurl.com/yxfxw48u Donald Trump, Xi Jinping met on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Osaka. (AFP) Beijing:Â US President Donald Trump mentioned commerce negotiations with China have been âagain on observeâ after âwonderfulâ talks Saturday along with his Chinese language counterpart Xi Jinping during which Washington reportedly agreed to carry off on new tariffs. The crunch talks on the damaging commerce conflict between the worldâs prime two economies got here on the sidelines of a gathering of the G20 in Japanâs Osaka, with all eyes on whether or not the pair would agree a truce. âWe had an excellent assembly with President Xi of China,â Trump mentioned after the talks. âIâd say wonderful.â âWeâre proper again on observe,â he added with out confirming any particulars of any settlement. Each side have been anticipated to situation official formal statements later, however Chinese language state media mentioned Washington had dedicated to not impose any new tariffs on Beijingâs exports and that the 2 sides had agreed to restart commerce and financial talks. The end result was prone to be seen as a win, with specialists cautioning forward of the assembly {that a} full settlement was unlikely however a truce that averted a brand new tit-for-tat spherical of tariffs could be optimistic. Trump has struck a conciliatory tone since his arrival in Japan for the G20 summit, regardless of saying Chinaâs financial system was going âdown the tubesâ earlier than he set out for Osaka, and appeared eager to succeed in an settlement. He mentioned he was prepared for a âhistoricâ cope with China because the leaders kicked off their assembly and Xi informed him that âdialogueâ was higher than confrontation. Local weather combat There have been no fast particulars concerning the leadersâ discussions, together with whether or not they raised the thorny topic of Chinese language telecoms agency Huawei. Washington has banned the corporate over safety considerations and China reportedly wished the restrictions lifted below the phrases of any commerce truce. The primary tete-a-tete between the leaders of the worldâs prime two economies because the final G20 in December has forged an extended shadow over this yrâs gathering in Osaka, the place variations over local weather change have additionally been laid naked. Economists say {that a} prolonged commerce conflict may very well be crippling for the worldwide financial system at a time when headwinds together with elevated geopolitical tensions and Brexit are blowing laborious. On Friday, the European Union and the South American commerce bloc Mercosur sealed a blockbuster commerce deal after 20 years of talks, with European Fee President Jean-Claude Juncker hailing it as a ârobust messageâ in help of ârules-based commerce.â Commerce has proved removed from the one contentious situation on the desk, with local weather change changing into one other main sticking level. A diplomatic supply mentioned it had been a âtroublesomeâ night time, with an American negotiator pushing a âvery powerful placeâ and a gaggle together with France standing united in opposition to watering down the local weather language within the ultimate assertion. However an settlement appeared to have been reached there too, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel telling reporters that the ultimate communique would protect language used on the two previous G20 summits. âWe may have the same textual content to Argentina. A 19+1 declaration,â she mentioned. The so-called 19+1 formulation reiterates the dedication of all G20 members besides the US to the Paris local weather deal, from which Washington plans to withdraw. Trump-Kim meet? Trump has dominated the headlines from the summit, and as soon as once more caught observers without warning by tweeting early Saturday that he was open to assembly North Koreaâs Kim Jong Un whereas in South Korea this weekend. âIf Chairman Kim of North Korea sees this, Iâd meet him on the Border/DMZ simply to shake his hand and say Howdy(?)!,â he wrote. A number of specialists, nonetheless, mentioned the give attention to Trump and the talks with China struck on the coronary heart of the G20 format, created to craft a united international response to the Lehman Brothers disaster. âWith a lot of the destiny of the worldwide financial system and the probably route of markets hanging on the result of this pivotal Trump-Xi assembly, we expect issues will worsen earlier than they get higher,â mentioned ING Economics. And the give attention to bilateral conferences on the sidelines of the summit as soon as once more sparked doubts about the way forward for the gathering, specialists mentioned. âThe G20 was created as a discussion board for cooperation and the query might be âhave we reached the purpose the place it will possibly now not serve that objectiveâ,â Thomas Bernes from the Centre for Worldwide Governance Innovation informed AFP. Dollar, stock futures gain on U.S. tax cut progress

SYDNEY (Reuters) â The U.S. dollar bounced to a two-week top on Monday as traders celebrated the passage of a Senate tax bill over the weekend, while stronger U.S. stock futures pointed to a merry start for Asian shares.
The greenback jumped 0.7 percent <JPY=> in early Asian trade to as far as 112.98 yen, the highest since Nov. 17. It climbed 0.5 percent last week, a welcome reprieve to bulls after three straight sessions of losses.
The U.S. Senate approved a tax overhaul on Saturday, moving Republicans and President Donald Trump a big step closer to their goal of slashing taxes for businesses and the rich.
The move is likely to further boost corporate profits and lead to a slew of share buy-backs. U.S. stock markets have already rallied for months on hopes that Washington would provide significant tax cuts for corporations.
Indeed, EMini S&P stock futures <ESc1> jumped 0.7 percent at the open on Monday, while Nikkei futures <NKc1> climbed more than 1 percent.
âThe chances of tax cuts being placed onto Trumpâs desk to sign through have increased markedly and we start this week with the process of reconciliation between both the House and Senate tax plan,â said Chris Weston, Melbourne-based chief market strategist at IG.
âOne questions what could really derail sentiment as we head into the final month, and one that is traditionally a great breeding ground for equity appreciation.â
As risk-on trade gathers momentum, U.S. Treasury futures fell sharply, with the March contract slipping 14 ticks. <TYc1>
Fed fund futures <0#FF:> dipped as the market priced in the risk of faster rate hikes from the Federal Reserve, given fiscal policy was set to be eased even while the economy was running at or near full employment.
The early shift reversed moves on Friday when stocks and the dollar slipped and bonds gained amid worries about a probe into Russiaâs involvement in the U.S. election.
Stocks tanked mid-session after an ABC News report that former national adviser Michael Flynn was prepared to testify that Donald Trump instructed him to make contact with Russians during the presidential campaign.
The report was soon retracted with the ABC News clarifying that Trumpâs directive was issued after he was elected president, not before.
Elsewhere, traders will focus attention on a meeting scheduled for British Prime Minister Theresa May and EU President Jean-Claude Juncker as they on a Brexit deal.
The euro <EUR=> slipped 0.2 percent, while the British pound <GBP=> edged 0.1 percent higher on media reports that a deal was near on the terms of the Brexit divorce.
Bitcoin <BTC=BTSP> jumped to an all-time high of $11,800 after the U.S. derivatives regulator allowed CME Group <CME.O> and CBOE Global Markets <CBOE.O> to list bitcoin futures.
The cryptocurrency was last up 2.8 percent at $11,180 on the Luxembourg-based Bitstamp exchange.
In commodities, oil was down a touch with Brent crude <LCOc1> off 5 cents at $63.68 a barrel. Spot gold <XAU=> eased 0.5 percent to 1,273.67.

The Latest: Myanmar tightens pandemic restrictions | National News
YANGON, Myanmar â Myanmar, faced with a rapidly rising number of coronavirus cases and deaths, has announced the tightest restrictions so far to fight the spread of the disease.
The measures announced Sunday by Health Minister Dr, Myint Htwe cover Yangon, the countryâs biggest city and main transportation hub.
Measures effective Monday allow just one person per household out of their homes for shopping, and two for hospital visits, although a driver is also permitted when traveling by car. Wearing face masks is mandatory.
All office staffs must work from home, while factories, finishing and construction enterprises must halt operations from Sept 24 to Oct. 7.
Personnel of essential services, including banks, gas stations, food shops and pharmacies are exempt from the order.
Travel out of Yangon was already banned and all domestic flights grounded on Sept. 11.
Until an upsurge in coronavirus cases last month in the western state of Rakhine, Myanmar had appeared to have largely been spared from the pandemic, having recorded just 353 virus cases as of the beginning of August.
The country as of Sunday has 5,541, including 92 deaths.

â Analysis: US to hit 200K dead; Trump sees no need for regret
â Italians in seven regions are voting in elections shaped by the COVID-19 pandemic. The contests were originally scheduled for the spring, but delayed due to the virus.
â Students in Iowaâs largest school system are facing the possibility that the school year could stretch into next summer, and the district could be hit with crippling bills due to a dispute with the governor over reopening classrooms during the coronavirus pandemic

HEREâS WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING:
ATHENS, Greece â Greek health authorities announced a further 170 coronavirus cases Sunday and seven deaths.
The total number of cases is now 15,142, with 338 deaths.
Monday will see further restrictions in the capital Athens and the surrounding region following a spike in cases. The measures include a ban on gatherings exceeding nine persons in both open and closed spaces, a ban on concerts and cinemas â but not theaters â and the obligation of 40% of employeesto work from home, which is combined with a ban on employers using cameras to check on employees.
Also, those over 65 are encouraged to refrain from leaving home, using public transport or meeting with anyone except close relatives for the next 14 days. The measures will be enforced at least until Oct. 3.
âââ
DUESSELDORF, Germany â Hundreds of people demonstrated in downtown Duesseldorf Sunday against government coronavirus restrictions and in support of a host of other causes.
People waved signs with slogans like âend to panic, corona pandemic is a lieâ and âcorona rebelsâ as songs decrying coronavirus restrictions were played.
They chanted âfree Julian Assangeâ along with one speaker, and formed a âWâ â symbolizing âwe allâ â with their hands, which they raised over their heads as the theme to Chariots of Fire played.
No masks were to be seen, aside from on journalists covering the rally, and a few children mingled among the crowd.
Before breaking away to walk along a route through the western city, the crowd swayed to Louis Armstrongâs âWhat a Wonderful Worldâ and a man in a Superman costume sang along.
Police reported no incidents.
âââ
MADRID â Spaniards are protesting in Madrid against the handling of the coronavirus pandemic by the cityâs regional head, who has placed new restrictions on neighborhoods with the highest contagion rates.
Wearing face masks and trying to maintain social distancing, protestors clapped in unison while shouting for regional President Isabel DĂaz Ayuso to step down. The protesters gathered at noon Sunday around the city, making it difficult to estimate the size of the protest.
In the Vallecas neighborhood, protesters chanted âFor everyone or no one!â in a criticism of the restrictions DĂaz Ayuso announced Friday for some of the poorest areas of Madrid where local authorities say the virus is spreading the fastest.
The restrictions affect around 860,000 people who wonât be able to leave their neighborhoods except for work, study or a medical appointment. Parks in the area are closed and shops and restaurants have to limit occupancy to 50%,
Spain is struggling to contain a second wave of the virus, which has killed at least 30,400 people according to the Spanish Health Ministry. Madridâs rate of transmission is more than double the national average, which already leads European contagion charts.
âââ
LONDON â Britainâs government will fine people who refuse an order to self-isolate up to 10,000 pounds ($13,000) as the country sees a sharp surge in coronavirus infections.
The new rule obliges people to self-isolate if they test positive for the coronavirus or are traced as a close contact. The rule comes into effect on Sept. 28.
The government will help those on lower incomes who face a loss of earnings as a result of self-isolating with a one-time support payment of 500 pounds ($633).
The latest figures show that new daily coronavirus cases for Britain have risen to 4,422, the highest since early May. An official estimate also shows that new infections and hospital admissions are doubling every seven to eight days in the U.K.
The Conservative government is widely expected to impose further restrictions after Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed that Britain is seeing a second wave of infections, following the trend elsewhere in Europe. Londonâs mayor has also said tighter restrictions could be needed soon in the British capital.
âââ
NEW DELHI â India has registered 92,605 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours and is expected to surpass the United States as the pandemicâs worst-hit country within weeks.
The Health Ministry on Sunday also reported 1,133 additional deaths for a total of 86,752.
Sundayâs surge raised the countryâs virus tally to over 5.4 million. India, however, also has the highest number of recovered patients in the world, according to Johns Hopkins University. Its recovery rate stands at about 80%.
Over 60% of the active cases are concentrated in five of Indiaâs 28 states â Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modiâs government has faced scathing criticism for its handling of the pandemic amid a contracting economy that left millions jobless.
âââ
MELBOURNE, Australia â Australiaâs second-largest city, Melbourne, has moved close to easing severe lockdown restrictions after recording only 14 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday.
It was the second day in a row new infections fell below 30. There were also five deaths recorded Sunday.
Melbourneâs lockdown restrictions are due to be eased next weekend when child care centers will be allowed to reopen and gatherings of up to five people from two different households will be permitted. But that depends on the rolling 14-day average of new cases being below 50. It now stands at 36.2.
Victoria state Health Minister Jenny Mikakos praised residents for adhering to lockdown rules, saying, âThe huge sacrifices made by Victorians are saving many lives.â
Meanwhile, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison described an unexpected fall in Australiaâs unemployment rate to 9.3% â down 14 percentage points from its peak during the pandemic â as âpleasant encouragement.â
The figures show about 400,000 Australians recently have returned to work.
âââ
SEOUL, South Korea ââ South Koreaâs new coronavirus tally has fallen below 100 for the first time in more than a month.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said Sunday that the newly counted 82 cases took the countryâs total to 22,975 with 383 deaths.
The drop is likely partly driven by the fact that authorities conduct fewer tests on weekends. But even before Sunday, South Koreaâs daily tally has held in the 100s for more than two weeks, down from 400 in late August.
Health officials say the downward trend is a result of stringent social distancing rules imposed on the densely populated Seoul metropolitan area. Those rules were recently relaxed.
The government is urging the public not to lower their guard as small-scale clusters are still being reported.
âââ
TOKYO â Train stations and airports in Japan are filled with people traveling over the âSilver Weekâ holiday weekend, in a sign of recovery amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The surge in domestic travel is in contrast to previous holidays, when pressure was high for people living in urban congested areas to stay home and avoid areas with fewer infections.
The new daily cases in Tokyo have recently fluctuated around 200, but Japan does not have widespread testing and many cases are likely going undetected. Baseball games, stores and theaters are open again with social distancing, mask-wearing, hand sanitizers and temperature checks.
A study by mobile carrier NTT DoCoMo showed crowd size at a domestic terminal at Tokyoâs main Haneda airport, as well as train stations and shopping districts nationwide.
Japan, with about 1,500 deaths related to COVID-19, has banned almost all overseas visitors and requires quarantine and virus checks for returning Japanese. The Silver Week includes this weekend and two national holidays, Respect for the Aged Day and the Autumn Equinox.

Burying the lead | WORLD News Group
Give it to the Washington press corps that it was a Friday afternoon heading into a holiday weekend when the Trump administration announced a foreign policy breakthrough. Standing in the Oval Office on Sept. 4, President Aleksandar Vucic of Serbia and Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti of Kosovoâtwo states at war for more than 20 yearsâannounced theyâd reached an agreement toward economic normalization.Â
The agreement is a start on a long road away from ethnic cleansing that saw thousands of ethnic Albanians in Kosovo killed and millions displaced until NATO stepped in. The United States led a round-the-clock air war in 1998-99, dodging at least 700 surface-to-air missiles fired by Serbs. Controversial at the time, with Congress divided over the Clinton-backed campaign, in hindsight it paved the way for millions of Kosovar refugees to return to their homes, for Kosovo to gain recognition as a sovereign state, and for the Oval Office meeting to take place.
The agreement stops short of needed progress on the political frontâincluding Serbia formally recognizing Kosovoâs independence. âThere are still a lot of differences between us, but this is a huge step forward,â said Vucic.Â
For now the deal creates an economic zone across the western Balkans and further opens borders to trade, transportation, and reciprocity. Professionals trained and licensed in Serbia now may practice in Kosovo. European firms that couldnât do business in Kosovo without being penalized by Serbia, now may. It will reinvigorate efforts to return remains of those killed, and pledges both parties to promoting religious freedom and fighting terrorism, according to envoy Richard Grenell, the chief U.S. negotiator.Â
National Security Adviser Robert OâBrien acknowledged the agreement wasnât everything: âWhat we wanted to do was create some breathing space,â he told reporters, âthatâs going to lead to breakthroughs on the political front in the future.â
The deal followed by just three weeks a foreign-policy coup for the Trump administration when it brokered an Israel-United Arab Emirates peace agreement announced on Aug. 13. New ties between an Arab state and Israel are breaking a decades-old logjam: Muslim-majority states that once refused to make peace with Israel now hint they may be ready to.Â
Muslim-majority Kosovo is the latest on board, with Kosovo and Israel agreeing to normalize ties and commence diplomatic relations as part of the Sept. 4 pact. Serbia tentatively agreed to move its embassy to Jerusalem by next summer. Those add-ons plainly show the Trump administration is pressing its case for pro-Israel voters heading into the election, shoring up its late-term foreign policy gains against a haphazard record elsewhere (i.e., Syria, Turkey, China, Russia).Â
But the president has earned the right to expand on the Israel-UAE deal, as it stands to reshape order in the Middle East, a region desperately needing a dose of peace to build on. Itâs the kind of breakthrough Republicans and Democrats before him have sought. And pressing to bring Serbia and Kosovo into that fold shows a kind of strategic thinking Trump often is criticized for lacking.
Rather than drill into the specifics of what transpired, the lead-off question at the Friday afternoon press briefing was about mail-in ballots. Then reporters asked about election interference from China and Russia, and about the Atlantic story detailing the presidentâs views on veterans and the military. Â
Questioned even further afield about his diplomatic efforts to decriminalize homosexuality, Grenell lit into reporters: âLet me talk about Kosovo and Serbia. I donât know if you can find it on a map, but this is atrocious,â he berated them. âYou might be too young to understand what this issue is about, but maybe the older journalists can step up and say this is a big deal.â
Grenellâs retort was perhaps a deflection on the homosexuality question, a below-the-radar issue the diplomat, who is gay, reportedly has championed. It was another episode in the unguarded strife between the White House and reporters. But Grenell was voicing the frustration Americans feel with establishment mediaâs obsession with Trump controversy as the only grid through which news is news anymore. And the missed opportunities that result for reporting good news when it happens.

Tickets for the event, which is promoted by Mayweather Promotions and TGB Promotions in association with About Billions Promotions, can be purchased at www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com or through Ticketmaster.
Here is what the press conference participants had to say Thursday from The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas:  ROBERT EASTER JR.  âIâm not here to talk about any past or future fights. Right now Iâm focused on this fight against Rances. Come Saturday youâre going to see what Iâve put myself through during this camp.  âNot only have I learned a lesson from fighting Mikey Garcia, but I also learn something new after every fight. I went back home to Toledo for this one and got back to basics with my dad and Mike Stafford. We put in the hard work and youâll see it on display Saturday.  âThis fight is going to be a lot of action and I donât think itâs going to make it to the final bell.  âIâm highly confident right now coming off of the hard work in training camp. The connection with my dad is so great and all the time we spent in camp is going to pay off Saturday.  âWe had a tremendous camp. Iâm hungrier than ever right now to get back in the ring and show everyone that I deserve to be at the top. The only dance Iâm going to be doing on Saturday night, is to the bank.â  RANCES BARTHELEMY  âIâm excited for this new opportunity that I have in front of me and Iâm not going to let it go to waste. Iâm taking that belt with me on Saturday night.  âI always have good fortune fighting here at The Cosmopolitan and I believe Iâm going to take home the victory Saturday night.  âI take nothing away from Robert Easter Jr., because heâs a great champion. But I can do everything. I can fight on the inside, on the outside, I have power and Iâve fought against great opposition.  âI never dreamed of making it this far, especially coming from where I did. The dream of professional boxing didnât exist. To be in this position already, it makes me want to keep chasing bigger fights and leave behind a big legacy.  âI have a very competitive fight in front of me. Iâve worked with Joel Casamayor, who has great experience combined with mine. We have great chemistry and Iâm ready for everything to come together on Saturday night.  âI thank Robert Easter Jr. for taking the challenge, but Iâm going to make him dance to the rhythm of the âCuban Salsaâ on Saturday night. Itâs going to get caliente.â  VIKTOR POSTOL  âMy team and I had a great camp and Iâm excited to be here and see what my opponent is going to bring for Saturdayâs fight. Iâm ready for a great fight.  âI trained hard like I always do. I have the experience against top fighters and Iâm ready to prove that Iâm still one of the best.  âI want to become world champion again. Iâve fought much better opponents than Mimoune and it will show on Saturday. My plan is to box, break him down and if the knockout comes, Iâll take it.â  MOHAMED MIMOUNE  âIâm very excited to fight here in Las Vegas and I want to tell the American fans that I guarantee a great fight on Saturday night. Iâm coming to win.  âIt was a very good camp, and it fully prepared me for war on Saturday night. Iâve worked hard to be in the best shape of my career.  âEvery fighter is different, so weâll see if heâs my toughest opponent once Iâm in there. I respect him and I know that heâs a good boxer, but he doesnât have anything I canât handle.  âIâve studied Postol closely and Iâm ready to fight. I have the strategy and game plan prepared to get the win. Iâm focused 100 percent on getting this win.â  EFE AJAGBA  âThis is my first time in Las Vegas and Iâm very excited to be here. Iâve been studying my opponent and I know heâs a good fighter. I canât wait to get in there on Saturday and show off my skills.  âEvery time I fight I go back to Texas and start training again. Iâm facing a good fighter, but Iâve been preparing for him. I have a powerful jab that Iâm looking forward to showing off.  âIn one year, or maybe two. I think Iâll be fighting against top guys. Weâre going to keep stepping up. This is my first time fighting on SHOWTIME so Iâm looking forward to that step.  âItâs up to my opponent how long the fight lasts. I never say Iâm going in to knock him out. I have to feel it and find the moment and see what he gives me.â  MICHAEL WALLISCH  âI come from Germany to bring a show to the fans. I love this city already and I want to win so I can come back again. Iâm fighting a tough guy on Saturday, but Iâm also very tough. May the best man win.  âI had a little less than a monthâs notice for the fight but I had already been training and sparring very well. I think that Iâm going to bring that great work into the ring on Saturday.  âI think for sure Iâm the toughest opponent of Ajagbaâs career. I will be the first rock that he has to climb. At heavyweight, everybody has power. We will see on Saturday what he has.  âI trained very hard with Alexander Dimitrenko, who is another tall fighter. It prepared me well and I think weâre going to go toe-to-toe for as long as it lasts.â  ROBERT EASTER SR, Easterâs Trainer  âWe were really focused for this camp. We stuck with what we know and went right back to how we started in this sport. Robert loved the camp.  âRobert is hungry. Heâs always been a hungry fighter. The loss was a huge lesson for him. He treats every fight like itâs the last fight. I see the fight going our way.â  JOEL CASAMAYOR, Barthelemyâs Trainer and Former World Champion  âIâm very happy to be working with Rances. Heâs a great fighter and weâve been working together to perfect his boxing style. His improvement in a short time has been outstanding.  âWe are going to give the fans a surprise. We are winning by knockout. Itâs going to be âEaster Dinnerâ on Saturday night. He better be ready. Rances is bringing the knockout.â  ROY JONES JR. (on working with Mohamed Mimoune leading up to the fight)  âI like a lot of things about Mohamed. Heâs a high-energy fighter and because of that, he can do anything that he wants to do. Iâve explained to him that he needs to go out there and be who he is, and not let Viktor Postol be who he wants to be.  âMohamed needs to take control of the fight and keep control. If he gives control back to Postol, heâs going to feel like he can dominate. You have to hold on to that momentum.  âItâs a very good matchup stylistically. Both guys are tall and long. I think Mohamed beats him in the end because heâs smarter and hungrier. He hasnât been beat in a long time, and if he dictates the pace, heâs going to win.â  RONNIE SHIELDS, Ajagbaâs Trainer  âAjagba wants to learn everything in the gym. He wants to be the best heavyweight out there. He just turned 25 on Monday, so right now weâre just picking our spots and letting him develop. Weâre not trying to force anything. Slowly but surely heâs moving along.  âHeâs still young in the game, but I think he could compete with a lot of the top guys right now. Itâs a learning process. He needs to take those steps one at a time. Weâre at a good pace right now that weâre both happy with. Within another year, heâs going to make some noise.â  LEONARD ELLERBE, CEO of Mayweather Promotions  âWhat a terrific card we have this weekend from top to bottom. Itâs exciting to see young fighters on the rise, former world champions and more making up this great card.  âItâs not too often you get fights like these, with former world champions still in their prime. Iâve seen Robert Easter Jr. mature through the ranks and fight on the big platforms. He came up short in his last bout against another great champion in Mikey Garcia, but I think he took invaluable experience from that fight.  âAnytime you fight on that stage and come up short, you know going forward that you have everything to lose. Robert has a chip on his shoulder and heâs coming to prove that heâs still the man in the division.  âI canât say enough about Rances Barthelemy. Heâs already a two-division world champion with eyes on eventually winning a title in a third division. He knows on Saturday night he has his hands full. These two young guys are fighting for the same thing. Theyâre both world class fighters coming to show who the better man is.â

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - The worldâs most famous arena, Madison Square Garden in New York City will once again play host to one of the biggest fights of the year.
This weekend WBO Welterweight champion Terence âBudâ Crawford (34-0, 25 KOs) will make the second defense of his title against Bolton, Englandâs Amir âKingâ Khan (33-4, 20 KOs).
The bout with Khan will mark Crawfordâs second in the big room at Madison Square Garden and his third overall bout in New York.
Madison Square Garden was the building in which Khan made his United States debut in May 2010 against the loquacious Paulie Malignaggi.
That night Khan was able to outbox and stop a former world champion in a one-sided fight in what many still recall as the best performance of his career.
Before making his trip to North America and facing Malignaggi, Khan had his fair share of doubters with those that believed he was more hype than substance.
Khan is the youngest British Olympic medalist in boxing history and the third-youngest world champion from Britain following Naseem Hamed and Herbie Hide.
Khan in many ways finds himself in the same position he was in before he faced Malignaggi. Now almost a decade later he still has a majority of fans and pundits who donât believe he can win.
The former Super Lightweight world championâs resume is filled with well-known names throughout the past era. Khan is 10-3 with two knockouts against former or current world champions. He is 6-3 with two knockouts in world title bouts.
The Bolton, England nativeâs list of victories includes names like Marcos Maidana, Zab Judah, Luis Collazo and Devon Alexander amongst others.
Examining Khanâs four losses, three of the four were by stoppage at the hands of Breidis Prescott, Danny Garcia, and Saul âCaneloâ Alvarez. His only defeat by decision came at the hands of Lamont Peterson in December 2011.
That loss was riddled with controversy from the scorecards to Peterson testing positive for synthetic testosterone for the rematch.
Crawford is without question one of the most complete boxers of this era that can fight from both the southpaw and orthodox stances with equal success. Khan, however, for the majority of his career has given technical fighters like Crawford significant problems in the past.
During a recent conference call with Top Rank Boxing promoting the bout with Crawford, Khan spoke about how he matches up with the Omaha, Nebraska native.
âBreaking down the fight, Terence is a very skillful fighter, and I always do well against skillful fighters,â Khan said. âThis is going to be like a game of chess at times.â
Looking back throughout boxing history there is a precedence for Khan to come out with his hand raised on April 20th.
Back in the 1970s with the man, many consider to be the greatest Heavyweight champion of all time, Muhammad Ali (56-5, 37 KOs). After facing Joe Frazier in their epic conclusion to their trilogy in âThe Thrilla in Manila,â he went on a streak of title defenses before finally losing to Leon Spinks in 1978.
Fans and pundits may remember Aliâs issues with Ken Norton, a fighter Ali was never able to beat clearly without some controversy on the scorecards. Often forgotten is a bout that Ali took in April 1976 against Philadelphiaâs Jimmy Young (35-18-3, 12 KOs) in Landover, Maryland.
Ali was a natural counter-puncher and preferred his opponents to be the aggressor while he took advantage of any openings left available. Young may have known this going into the match and decided to make Ali the aggressor by fighting on his back foot for the majority of the fight.
Ali had problems being the aggressor against Young leading to an extremely close bout that could have been scored for either man. Young at the time of the match wasnât considered one of the elite Heavyweights at the time; however, his style alone caused enormous issues for one of the best fighters in history.
In the early 2000s in the Welterweight division elite boxer, Vernon Forrest ran into a stylistic nightmare when he took on Ricardo Mayorga.
At the time of the bout with Mayorga, Forrest was considered one of the top fighters in the world pound-for-pound after two decisive victories over future Hall-of-Famer Shane Mosley.
Before facing Forrest, Mayorga was best known for his victory over Andrew âSix Headsâ Lewis whom he stopped in five rounds. The style in which Mayorga fought had more in common with what you would see in backyard fights on YouTube than in a championship boxing match.
Forrest at the time may have had the best jab in the sport and was favored to dispose of Mayorga easily. However, Mayorgaâs brutish style of throwing punches at all angles and willing to commit to getting on the inside no matter the returning fire caused all kinds of trouble for a master technician in Forrest.
Shockingly, Mayorga was able to stop Forrest in the third round when he landed a right hand on the temple of Forrestâs head leading the referee to put a halt to the bout.
In a rematch, a few months later Mayorga once again defeated Forrest this time by decision in a closer match, but one in which he was once again able to land and hurt Forrest on several occasions.
In that same time frame in 2003-2004, the man considered to be on top of the boxing food chain Roy Jones Jr. ran into his own stylistically nightmare when he met fellow Florida native Antonio Tarver. Jones was a fighter similar to Khan in the sense that he was also successful in giving elite technical boxers fits.
However, against Tarver, he ran into a fighter who simply had his number, as he was only able to win once in the first of their three meetings in a highly questionable decision in November 2003.
Tarver, arguably, scored the most significant victory of the decade when he landed a one-punch technical knockout in the second round of their rematch in May 2004.
It is difficult to imagine Khan scoring an emphatic knockout of Crawford who has shown to have a durable chin throughout his career. However, Khan is more than capable of outpointing Crawford to win a decision.
What will be in question is if Khan is facing the former undisputed Super Lightweight champion too far past his prime. At 32 years of age, dominant performances over the likes of Devon Alexander could be a product of the past.
In Khanâs recent two performances following his knockout loss to Alvarez, he has been inconsistent scoring a first-round knockout over Phil Lo Greco and a dodgy decision to journeyman Samuel Vargas where he was knocked down in the second round.
With Crawford being on the wrong side of the political divide in the Welterweight division he finds himself taking on a fighter that can give him stylistic problems. Unfortunately for the Nebraska native, a victory over Khan may not provide him with the credit deserved. He is in the proverbial lose-lose situation.
Despite the odds and credit he may or may not receive Crawfordâs focus should only be on making sure that he gets another victory on his ledger. He is one of only three fighters in boxing history to unify all the world titles in a division joining Bernard Hopkins and Oleksandr Usyk.
A clear and decisive victory will keep Crawford at the top of most lists as one of the best in the world.
Khan has been afforded another opportunity for a world title and a chance to once again be considered an elite fighter.
Throughout his career, Khan has been knocked down 11 times. More times than not he has gotten back up. Regardless of the question marks surround his chin, Khan is a warrior when he steps inside the squared circle.
On Saturday night, he may have found himself to be the right guy at the right time. As the old adage states âstyles make fightsâ and Khan could have the right style to hand Crawford the first defeat of his career.

Published: October 11, 2018
It has been reported by multiple sources and numerous boxing websites that eight-division world champion and current âregularâ WBA welterweight titleholder Manny Pacquiao has signed a deal with well-known boxing adviser Al Haymon.
Haymon is best known for being the adviser to Floyd Mayweather and being the head of Premier Boxing Champions.
On the weekend of Canelo Alvarezâs rematch with Gennady Golovkin videos surfaced of an impromptu meeting between Pacquiao and Mayweather at a nightclub in Japan. Mayweather then took it upon himself to announce that a rematch between the two men would be taking place. Many may remember before their record-breaking match in 2015; the two future hall-of-famers ran into each other at a Miami Heat basketball game.
At 39-years of age, it is somewhat surprising that Pacquiao signed with Haymon. It shows that the Filipino Senator is not thinking about retirement and wants to make this last portion of his career meaningful. For years, there have been rumors of Pacquiao either misusing his finances or of people close to him taking advantage of him. Over the last year, Pacquiao has severed ties with promoter Top Rank becoming a promotional free agent after his contract expired. Earlier this year before facing Lucas Matthysse, Pacquiao stopped working with longtime trainer Freddie Roach and is now reportedly not working with his business manager Michael Koncz.
With the âPac-Manâ now in the twilight of his career signing with Haymon opens up the number of opponents available to him in the welterweight division. With the amount of money that the first match with Mayweather made it seems that a rematch is imminent. There have been rumors of a potential match with former four-division champion Adrien Broner for this upcoming January. A bout with Broner could undoubtedly be sold to the general public and be a solid fight before facing Mayweather again for Pacquiao.
While Pacquiao did look to be in rare form in his last fight with Matthysse, the Argentinean may have been tailor-made and the perfect opponent for the Filipino Senator. Father time is undefeated in the sport of boxing, and while Pacquiao is not likely to take a ton of punishment in a rematch with Mayweather, fights with the elite welterweight who are now in their prime could be a different story.
Only time will tell if Pacquiao late in his career has one more significant run left in him. Boxing history has shown us this could be another unfortunate tale of an older fighter staying in the sport for too long. With fans witnessing him getting knocked out by opponents he would have defeated in his prime.
Pacquiaoâs prime is long and gone and has been for the better part of this decade. While signing with Haymon will allow Pacquiao to gain a few more hefty paydays it is likely that he could become cannon fodder and another scalp for fighters managed by Haymon to put on their mantel.
