It's been a long time since I've really ranted about something on here but like.
HOTD is just⌠On another level of bad? At some point this season, I got so tired of getting angry with the writing I just straight up started laughing at almost every single scene. I managed to find a sliver of enjoyment in the shitshow what S2 turned out to be. Not anymore.
Small costest backstage at the end because I felt like looking at myself smiling after writing all this down lol
Having seen some and read about some E8 leaks I'm just⌠I guess I'm checking out. What they've done to the Greens and specifically Aemond this season is Merlin's 'Morgana suddenly full evil' level of shit writing. And I can't handle yet another favorite nuanced character of mine being stripped of any nuance by the shit writers. But at least with Morgana there was a lot of her, and with Aemond it's 2 minutes of peak character assassination per episode and it isn't cutting it.
I feel so bad for Ewan and the rest of the Green actors who gave it their all - and in some scenes you can clearly see Ewan giving his all trying to fight the shitty writing, but there's only so much an actor can do with a script so bad.
Like when in ep. 5 everyone kept referring to Aemond as if he's suddenly Satan incarnate (Alicent, Daemon ahhh pretty sure there was someone else this episode âcause I remember three characters) I knew they decided to flip the switch with Aemond suddenly going full caricature villain (and yeah he was no saint BUT LIKE BBQ-ING HIS BRO?) with no proper buildup for it but HOLY SHIT I didnât think it would be âblink and heâs full on sociopathic villainâ. And the way they really did try and hammer that point home with him yanking Helaena now is just⌠Fucking wild. But like, he wasnât wrong with dismissing Alicent who turned out to be the biggest traitor on TG this season (RIP S1 Alicent). Heâs not wrong in saying they need Dreamfyre. But the show sure did go about him technically not being wrong yet showing it in the worst way possible very... head-on and with lacking any nuance. It truly feels like Condal & Co just couldnât handle how popular Aemond became in S1 and gave him as little screen time as possible while simultaneously trying to make him as unsympathetic and suddenly 180 as possible. Which just doesnât work without the proper buildup if you stop to think for even one second.
Then weâve got Alicent who drilled it into her sonsâ heads theyâll be dead unless they fight Rhae and now sheâs also 180 and doesnât understand why they want to fight and turns out to be the biggest traitor basically surrendering her children, the city and her brother to the woman whose husband killed her grandchild. The fuck did S1 Alicent go? Can we see her? Is she in the room with us? You know, the one jumping Rhae with the knife for Aemond? By all means, she and Aemond should have had a dynamic akin to Cersei and Joffreyâs if they were dead-set on making Aemond pretty much THE (only) villain in the show (which should have been about everyone being a criminal lmao). But like⌠We came to THIS? THE FUCK. THE FUUUUCK. Like imagine for one second Cersei pretty much throwing her kids to their enemies. This is. I donât know which level of bad writing is this. Weâre so far past the rock bottom at this point, the bottom doesnât exist, the depths this season has reached donât even have a proper name.
Then weâve got Helaena. All season Iâve been waiting to see more of her. All season. And I waited. And waited. Her being the Dreamer sounded cool on paper. And they just ended up using her as a device to show âAemond badâ again? And HELP DAEMON? And like... to spoil the end of the story for those unfamiliar? THE FUUUUUUUUUUUCK. THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.
Like damn, I knew they were baiting us with the promo and I knew it would be OOC for her to want to fight but at the same time I was kinda hoping at least sheâd want to? Like sheâs sane in the show. Her son was beheaded in front of her eyes. I kept hoping this show would have at least ONE female character actually willing to fight, but no. The balcony scene was good. But in spite, not thanks to what the writers clearly meant for this scene to be. Phia and Ewan really did give this scene their all and try to add nuance where they just once again tried to write Aemond off as a dick.
I havenât seen the Aegon scene but apparently, they tried to make him look dumb again? And since thereâs no rush to vacate KL in the show, why the hell didnât he try to at least take his daughter with him? Like we get it, show, you hate the Greens and therefore all the Greens hate each other apparently (not buying it no matter how much youâre selling it tho), so him not bothering with Helaena is like okaaaay suuuure (not), but HIS KID? He was the hightlight of the first part of this season, and now we're... back at it again. Yay.
Also tbh I hated Daemyra as a concept in S1 as a ship but I LOVED their dynamic if it makes sense. It was truly interesting and both characters really shone in their shared scenes, so when Rhaeâs arc this season started to feel like Groundhog Day I really missed Daemyra since at least their push and pull with Daemon made her feel more alive and interesting idk. But like. Their reunion scene looks like a grand meh? Daemon looks like he cares. Rhae came off to me like she doesnât give a single fuck about him. Rhae in general was one of my fave characters in S1 and now itâs just. Huh? Them trying to saintify her absolutely ruined the character for me, sheâs just so bland now which with her amount of screen time just⌠Doesnât make for a very compelling show.
So. Yep. Those are my thoughts and feelings. tbh I donât even know when I became so attached to the Greens. Like maybe it was in spite of the show trying to ruin and ignore them. Sort of like when you start rooting for the underdogs. But now I just feel really hollow and drained and sad for the actors. On both teams tbh, âcause like⌠What even is the point of this show anymore? Thereâs no war. Aemond is the only one whoâs willing to wage it and the show villainizes him for it. Even in ep. 8 Rhae still says she doesnât wanna fight the war. What did we spend 8 episodes, then, on aside from some character assassinations?
Whatâs the point if you donât really feel anything towards most of the characters? Not even anger or apathy? âCause like, I couldnât care less when Rhaenys died. Iâm sure when Jace kicks the bucket it would be the same. If the characters themselves canât be bothered (whereâs the aftermath for Blood and Cheese ffs?), why and HOW the hell should the viewers care? Iâm sure theyâll find a way to make even Helaenaâs death as meaningless as possible with giving her zero agenda in the matter.
I truly donât think Iâll be watching S3. I donât think I have it in me to witness how they screw up the Greens even more than they already did. Itâs not even fun anymore how dumb the show is, itâs just draining. Motivations and relationships changing 180 between episodes or even during them (sometimes even during scenes), major events not phasing anyone and having no consequences. Characters the show chose as THE main characters living in Groundhog Day with nothing to do. Weâre supposed to just believe the characters are suddenly completely different than they were weeks/months ago in showâs time just because the show says so. HOW ABOUT NO?
Iâm only holding out hope for Daeron but at this point? Iâm sure heâll have a total o 1-2 minutes of screen time each episode as well and theyâll ruin him somehow, too. Still funny though how him and Aemond are both 16 which Iâm sure is just another writing plot hole but on the off chance it isnât⌠The only cool and redeemable thing the show can do at this point in my eyes is make Daeron and Aemond twins. You know, at the very least to give Ewan the screen time he deserves AND give him some better material to work with. But ah well.
At this point Iâm choosing to more or less ignore everything thatâs happened in S2, âcause the sure itself sure as hell ignored 2/3 of it, so why canât I. Honestly, I want to do a full Helaena and Aemond cosplay, not a costest, if not for any other reason than to freaking forget S2 ever happend and maybe do some scenes which should have been in it, shippery or not. tbh I wasn't even shipping Helaemond until I saw Ewan and Phia's interviews about them and I was SO HYPED. And Tom's interviews. I was so hyped for siblings interecting in general and I feel like both the actors and the audience were done dirty in the worst way possible.
Also also the last thing I want to say is that it's super sad to see viewers turning on Aemond because it's so clear that's what the show wants everyone to do and neither Aemond nor Ewan deserve it. That's very telling of how badly he's written this season, he's not a villain you love to hate, he's just there for people to hate him. I hope at least Ewan doesn't get hate for his character, but we all know some people are braindead enough to project characters onto actors, so... :(
ALSO ALSO ALSO I don't really feel like fighting over this show because I don't think it deserves any more of my nerve cells, so should anyone decide to come at me for this post don't bother, I'll just reply with print screening this part. But it's kinda funny how tumblr seemed to have an actual war over this show when the show straight up refused to commit to anything.
To everyone who has read thus far â here, have some cute backstages from our costest. Iâm sure we could all use a hug and a laugh. I know I could.

haiiiii ^_^ hi!! hiiiiii <3 haiiiiii hii :3
//ooc: ok so this post is gona be different than usual. why? well that's because i'll be stating my opinion on the meme factory mini arc or whatever it's called-- oh yeah you're gonna get some spoilers so watch the arc first/nf :3
i personally found it... good! not the best, but also not the worst. i'll give it a 7/10 or 3.5 stars :3 i'll be listing the positives and negatives:
POSITIVES:
leggy being cute as always
mr puzzles being kinda of the good guy (?)
meggy having a slightly more positive viewig of puzzles :D
UNDERTALE REFERENCE
smg3
NEGATIVES:
WHY AM I ROOTING FOR THE VILLAIN (puzzles)
that line from smg4 at the end was...... something.
speaking of smg3's boyfr-- i mean smg4, bro just enslaved one of his "best friends" (meggy as leggy) to work for him??? not cool smg4 :/
WHAT WAS THAT LEGGY PLUSH IT DOESNT EVEN LOOK LIKE HER OR ANY SMG4 PLUSH FOR THAT MATTER >:(
as much as i'm mainly neutral about both 4 and puzzles, in this arc and the recent episodes, smg4 was an ass and puzzles was amazing, i love him
a statement in reddit by u/gerrfrut describes EXACTLY how i felt about smg4 (the character) in the arc:
" "I can't imagine what Mr. Puzzles must have done to brainwash you into helping him"
Dude, YOU are the one who is to blame for this. You've seen her become Leggy, chose NOT to help her, but instead made her a SLAVE for a factory (which endangered the whole crew by giving Mr. Puzzles a way to get 5 stars), and had the AUDACITY to shift the blame from himself to Mr. Puzzles right into her face? Mr. Puzzles did not brainwash her, but instead acted nicer to her, which naturally led her into being more inclined to trust Mr. Puzzles more than SMG4 (you know you've fucked if the VILLAIN has more decency than you).
Also once again, there is zero repercussions for his actions. I really hope the crew will stop being gaslit by him one day and beat his ass to get him back into his sences. That's basically it. Sorry for the complaining, but SMG4 is acting insufferable and I am tired of ignoring this"
MY OPINION ABOUT THE FANDOM'S OPINION (especially on r/smg4):
it's a M I N I arc, not a full-on major story arc like revelations or some shit like that, what did you expect?! honestly, the fandom was and always will be the all-time worst part of smg4 for me. tbh, i'm pretty sure no matter how good or bad a episode is, someone will ALWAYS try to make it look worse. okay this post is getting WAYYY to long so i'll end it here, feel free to tell your opinions in the comments/reblogs! BYEEEEE---

IG this might be the wrong blog to ask (do you have a main?) but what are some things you hate about the show/fandom that donât relate to Zutara? Is âThe Great Divideâ really that bad? The comics? The Legend of Korra?
Okay, let's split these in categories
What I dislike about the original show
How we never really see much about the cultures of the Air Nomads and Water Tribes, and that the planned episode about Aang's parents was scrapped.
How Ty Lee basically has no arc and just went from "Hates being part of a matched set" to "Happily part of a matched set."
How Toph didn't really get any resolution with her parents, be it a reconciliation or a decision to cut contact like Zuko did with Ozai.
How the Lion Turtle wasnot introduced much earlier and instead used a Deux Ex Machina. We all know Aang won't kill Ozai, guys, you don't have to pretent, just let us know there's something Aang can to do avoid it and go revealing stuff about energybending little by little, then give us the final piece of the puzzle in the finale.
How the White Lotus was clearly a retcon that stopped making any sense after season two and that they're actually pretty fucking useless when you think about it.
How the show basically forgot that Iroh was very much a villain in season one, and for most of his life, therefore he has no right to call Azula crazy and dismiss her as a lost cause.
How Iroh says it wouldn't be right for him to kill Ozai, even if he could, because history would just see it as just a brother killing another brother for power, then IMMEDIATELY sending his 16-year-old nephew to a battle to the death with his 14-year-old niece - all while the White Lotus FINALLY decides to do SOMETHING and frees Ba Sing Se...
...Which looks horrible for Iroh when we think "Oh shit, last time he tried to capture it because he thought it was his destiny, his son died, and now he sent his nephew to a battle in which nearly dies and gets another scar while he's off trying to free that same city because of destiny again." (Seriously, when it comes to Ba Sing Se, don't let Iroh do ANYTHING other run a tea-shop in it. Somehow it always shows the ugly side of his personality).
How "Sokka's Master" is really an episode that did not need to exist at all because while Sokka had always wanted to be a warrior, he never really expressed any insecurity about being a non-bender and was only ever teased about it once. It just felt like an obligatory "The dude with no powers is important too!" episode and not a natural stepping stone of the narrative.
As for "The Great Divide" it is a pretty boring episode... but it's not as bad as people say. I don't think the original Avatar had any episodes in which nothing is important or at least creative and/or cool. I like the music in it, the world-building is kind of neat, the theme of helping refugees is pretty coherent with a show about war, and the animation changes when we are told the versions of the story on what these people hate each other was pretty cool.
What I dislike about the novelizations of the show
While some of the attempts of exploring how characters felt in some scenes really works and provides some interesting interpretations, others just fall completely flat and feel a bit OOC.
What I dislike about The Lost Adventures comics
That ridiculous story with Katara being way too pushy with Aang's training for no reason and refusing to communicate with him when he wants to talk about the kiss on the day of the invasion. She would never treat him like this.
What I dislike about the Azula In The Spirit Temple comic
The bits that remind me "Oh yeah, that's supposed to be set in the same universe of the Yang comics." Other than that, it is a pretty good stand-alone story and it allowed Azula to be turned into a deeply offensive stereotype about the mentally ill.
What I dislike about (most of) the comics and Korra
Nearly everything. Seriously, I don't know how the reception to these were mostly mixed instead of on the same level of hatred the fandom has to the Shyaman movie. The character assassination and lack of understanding of what made the original story good is EXACTLY the same, yet because it had Bryke's approval/involvement people expect me to take it as canon and it's NOT gonna happen.
What I dislike about the Netflix version
It exists. I'm sick of all the bullshit, souless remakes/reboots that are clearly just crash-grabs for companies that completely forgot they can make money AND art at the same time. I especially hate the trend of beautiful 2D animation being replaced with cheap cosplays, ugly CGI and poor lighting to pretend it is the "dark, mature version of the story"
What I dislike about the fandom itself
To make a really, really, REALLY long list very short and not really rank them 'cause it'd take forever:
1 - The blatant ableism towards Toph and Azula.
2 - The constant delusion about Avatar being "just like Game Of Thrones" and "not a kid's show."
3 - The people still insisting that the Netflix version, Korra, and the comics are good or "not that bad."
4 - The weird way some people act like Zuko was the first character to ever get a redemption arc and that everyone who does it now is taking inspiration from it.
5 - The refusal to accept that uncle Iroh was never perfect, both due to oversight of the writers AND deliberate narrative choices.
6 - The people that act like the show was trash just because of a few bad choices.
7 - The people that act like the show is perfect.
8 - The people that act like Bryke's interpretations are the only ones that matter.
9 - The inability to not harrass others for not agreeing with them.
10 - The weird, stupid people that act like Sozin and Azulon were not that bad and not just as power-hungry, racist and cruel as Ozai.
11 - The people that don't understand how Aang killing Ozai would be character assassination AND a deep betrayal of the themes and morals of the story.
12 - The people that keep losing their shit if you want a character like Azula to have a redemption arc because it'd "make Zuko's less especial" (it wouldn't, and I know that because HE WASN'T THE ONLY CHARACTER TO GET REDEEMED IN THE STORY, hell, he wasn't even the first).
13 - The downright offensive and disgusting need the fandom feels of sweeping Zuko's mistakes under the rug, no matter how bad they are, because they think he needs to be perfect otherwise he was not truly a victim of abuse.
14 - The way people just full on make shit up to support their headcanons, ships and theories.
15 - The blatant racism.

their darling with anger issues and an itching problem hcs
characters; all for one, shigaraki tomura, gigantomachia, dabi
⥠extreme anger issued reader, the reader itches their body when they get mad
⥠genre; extreme fluff, comfort, sort of cringe, idk i was mad and needed comfort from my villains <;/3
⥠extra; ooc all for one?
⥠note; i got angry from something and now im writing about it, also sorry for not posting fics!! ;( been really unmotivated and didn't know what to write even though i had a lot of drafts and asks with ideas already.
 ALL FOR ONE; he thinks it's adorable when you get pissed off, and admirable when he sees you letting out your anger on a poor not-so innocent soul. he supports the whole idea of you killing someone (that's actually guilty of something) when you're angry. but he quickly realizes you're similar to tomura when you start itching your neck, your wrists, your arms, your calves, your scalp, etc.
ă
¤when you start doing that near him he'll come to you and put his large hand on top of your head, pulling you closer when he put his other hand on your waist, and tug you into his embrace. smelling your hair and telling you to breathe slowly.
ă
¤he found out you have this problem when you were itching like crazy over not being able to do your hair right.
ă
¤âsweetheart, are you alright? â he came up to you with a concerned face ( or a molded face with slightly frowned lips ) while he took your wrist to stop you from itching the side of your face. âhuh? oh yeah! im fine, don't worry about it hunny! something just bit the side of my face and it was itchy. hehe â you made up an excuse.
ă
¤he could practically feel your heartbeat going faster due to the tension. you smile while you grew nervous. you don't wanna make him worry, he's already too busy trying to make plans to end hero society. you don't wanna be a burden to him.
ă
¤all for one lifted you up from the chair you sat on and hoisted your butt using his arms while your own was wrapped around his neck, your chin laying on his shoulder.
ă
¤âi know something terrible happened in your past for you to have this issue but i assure you i'll be with you every step of the way, and i want you to be beside me when i put japan onto it's knees. â he told you in his soothing deep voice, you started tearing up. you pushed your face onto your husband's shoulder, feeling actual care coming from him.
 SHIGARAKI TOMURA; whenever you get frustrated over the smallest things he'd look at you dumb founded before telling you to calm down while he wrapped an arm around your back and rubbing your forearm... as you itched away the skin on your wrists.. ( without him knowing )
ă
¤he only realized that you had an itching problem after dabi pointed out that you have one. âyo, shig. didn't know your bitch has an itching problem like you back then. â âthe fuck are you talking about, dabi. â âyo ass don't know? she itches her skin each time she gets mad. â your boyfriend stared at the black haired lieutenant. the fucking hell is this burnt fuck talkin' about?
ă
¤he didn't exactly know what to do; should he trust dabi and talk to you about it or just play it off as some weird joke. again, he didn't know what to do or should do. so he just checked up on you at random, ( surprisingly ) most of the times you weren't angry when he did. so of course he decided to just play it off as a weird joke dabi said.
ă
¤but one day he catched you itching your arm furiously as you screamed at an PLF worker for making an idiotic decision, he screamed at your name and you stopped itching and yelling at the unfortunate worker.
ă
¤you turned back to your normal nature clasping your hands and saying âyes, dear? â flowers decorating your aura. âfollow me. â he said you gladly followed after shooting a quick glare at the person you were yelling at awhile ago.
ă
¤when you and tomura were in a more private area you asked him if he needed you to help him with something.. or something - but he shook his head and placed his hands on your shoulder blades. âwhenever you get pissed and start itching yell out my name, i'll be here to calm you down. â âwh- what are you talking about? â you start laughing off what your dearly beloved boyfriend told you, a sweat dropping from your face.
ă
¤â[your/name], you know what i'm talking about. â his grip on your shoulders tightened. âhey you don't need to worry i'm fine! i don't have an itching problem! â you smile warm heartedly. he took your arm and showed the red scratch marks on it. âeh- i swear it only happens sometimes, it's oka- â before you can countinue your sentence he pulled you into a hug. mumbling comforting words in your ear, telling you it's okay. everything will be okay.
 GIGANTOMACHIA; he didn't notice that quickly since of course, he's large and your height is not that able to compare to his. he found out when you were itching both your arms so strongly to the point you started bleeding, the smell of metallic and the sound of itching made him wonder. he looked around but there was no one there, it was just you and him. he examined you more and realized you're the reason why there's a metallic scent in the air and the sound of itching.
ă
¤âmaster... what are you doing? â he asked, you stopped itching. âah, machia i thought you were still sleeping. â you smiled up at him rubbing your arms and pulling down the sleeves of your clothing. âmaster.. â he frowned, while your sweat dropped. he lifted you up using a finger and laid you on the palm of his large hand.
ă
¤âmaster, you may always tell me if you have a problem you and master all for one know more than anyone i can defeat your enemies if any of you told me to. â even when gigantomachia had a terrifying appearance, he's a sweetheart at times.
ă
¤you held his chin with your small hands are kissed his nose âthank you, machia. but i'm alright, really. it's just a small habit, it won't affect me that much. â you smiled at him, a blush formed on your cheeks knowing he cared about you and would rather die than live alone if you or all for one left him, all alone.
 DABI; âcompress stop protesting, my bitch managed to hit more idiots than you. â your boyfriend smugly smirked at his co-worker, while compress stared at him and sighed.
ă
¤you started itching your knees and legs out of frustration from not being able to full combo a song in pjsk ( project sekai ) a few minutes later you started itching your neck and the side of your face.
ă
¤dabi started getting concerned, so he stood up from the comfortable sofa and went towards you. your boyfriend's arms snaked around your waist, placing his hand on your hip before he lead you to his room. dabi entered the room, his hand still on your hip while he turned the dim light on.
ă
¤âyou okay, baby?â dabi asked, settling you down on his messy bed. your boyfriend's hands on the sides of your arms awaiting your answer. âi'm fine i just got a bit frustrated is all!â you replied, a sweat dropping down your face. dabi's lazy eyes stare at your face then slowly descended to your neck, he leaned into you and started kissing your neck and collarbone. a small blush appeared on your features, your face still frowning.
ă
¤when dabi was finished kissing your neck, he pecked on your lips. âlet's go to sleep early. how's that sound, doll?â he asked. âokay.. â you said before dabi fixed your position on his bed. discarding his jacket, shirt and pants leaving him in his boxers. dabi placed himself beside you. you automatically wrap one of your legs on his waist and bundled up on his chest. your head laid on his masculine arm while his hand entangled itself in your hair, he put his free hand on your lower back moving it up and down.
ă
¤night's like these weren't that rare, but it didn't happen all the time either. so you enjoyed every second of it, and so did your lover. he cares, it's obvious. when later that night while you were asleep he put ointment on the places you've been scratching.

not to dunk on junior year again but i am noticing a pattern here with the treatment of certain storytelling elements here.
both bellâs hells and the ratgrinders were pcs that gained sapience. the difference is that the ratgrinders were villains and the hells are heroes.
one of the most love-it-or-hate-it aspects of campaign 3 is that it does not only focus on the main 7 or 8 characters and everybody else is tossed to the wayside unless they benefit them like usual. all npcs (with downfall, that's including the gods!) deserve a chance to have their story told and they are all written to be that. the generic runaway prince you have to help escape to a life of freedom! the cute little helper robot npc! generic spooky evil minions based on public domain monsters! the quirky quest-giving fae! the rough and tumble hired goon! the brave captain of the guard protecting a strong lady in charge! yes, even imogen, who in any other story would be the sad little abandoned daughter of the bbeg who would mourn the hero killing her mother but understand that the hero had to do what needed to be done.
and again, you donât have to like it!
but there is a weird sort of thing i noticed amongst all the critical role c3 criticism that reminded me of people defending fhjy. an undercurrent of insisting that all the ratgrinders (who were teenagers. who were groomed and then murdered.) were pure evil spoiled brats and just wanted to be handed everything on a platter because they didnât deserve what the main cast earned their place as the main characters and made passive aggressive posts saying things to the tune of you know theyâre evil right. very Watsonian with a staunch refusal to look at a Doylist explanation. it got so bad to the point where people were insisting that if you liked the ratgrinders and sympathized with them then you were a fascism apologist.
astoundingly enough c3 criticism has only scraped the surface of this sort of overdramatic accusation, but it goes in the opposite direction. if you like where the story is going and how it's being told, then youâre not a real critical role fan. the story should have just been about the characters fighting evil fae or just wiping out the ruby vanguard and everyone in it without all this stupid introspective discussion on power because itâs retconning the gods being bad guys! grey morality sucks, why canât good guys just be good? they all feel like npcs except for imogen because sheâs the only one with a chosen birthright!
(of course, if they say that last part out loud, that might not look so good for them)
yes, we know the gods are imperfect. thatâs what weâve been saying this whole time. but all these passive aggressive gifsets of liam-as-orym saying that the gods arenât pure evil and itâs stupid to think so or laura and matt ooc saying that the gods have a grey area donât mean fucking jack if you turn around and insist the gods have zero flaws and everything they do is good, actually and Aeor Had It Coming.
important caveats:
the actors on d20 could not react to things they were doing in the moment. they were tired after filiming 3 episodes back to back and wrapped up their season faster than usual to join the sag-aftra strike. i am aware of this.
yes i know that d20 is a comedy improv series! that does not prevent it from having deep themes and character introspection! ayda aguefort and zelda donovan still very much exist and had their own arcs despite being npcs!
yes the ratgrinders were working with a man trying to kill and replace a goddess and yes he is a colonizing twat. however, doesnât that also make it the fandomâs insistence that liking the kids is bad and fascistic but making ship art of him and the other teacher that killed all of them is totally okay? rules for he but not for thee?Â
#đ#critical role#critrole#dimension 20#d20#fantasy high junior year#fantasy high#cr downfall#ratgrumblr#it's adjacent to it at least lol#for anybody wondering what my blog title is in reference to: the d20 drama#someone unironically called brennan that#and i can't help but feel like the actual guy trying to reunite with his native heritage might have more say in that matter

what are your head cannons on what kai saw in hell itâs been a watch watch but i remember him saying he learned thereâs no such thing a redemption i always wondered what he saw did Cade haunt him with Bonnie, his siblings, his parents?
also hope youâre safe in aftermath hurricane heleneâ¤ď¸
hi!!! we are doing okay - just coming to terms with some very hard choices and pretty heartbroken over the destruction/loss of life. WNC has been my home for most of my life and it will truly never be the same. it's going to feel really weird for a while, but i am thankful we are safe!!
okay now to the fun stuff:
ah yes so kai says "there is no such thing as redemption. there are only promises, and bargains, and tricks we play on ourselves to make us believe that we're good people...I'm not a good person, I own that."
so canonically all the characters that went to hell say things like they were just sort of burning constantly and being shown all their bad deeds surrounded by fire, but i do think cade is twisted up enough to make it more sinister. he was such a fun villain for me because his psychic abilities added this element of mind games to him that was so entertaining. (hated that they watered him down by implying katherine was in charge lmaooooo wtf was that)
i think i always pictured some kind of cross between the phoenix stone torture/burning at the stake (since that's how cade himself was killed). so for kai yeah, i think he was seeing over and over again the sibling murders, and then attacking bonnie, the things he did in mystic falls while trying to get to jo, and the red wedding, obviously.
what's interesting is that the hell torture seems to be designed to break them down and make them crack and lose their minds, but if we're talking s6!kai at canon they wanted us to believe he 'didn't care/wasn't affected by any of it' because he'd given up on redemption when bonnie turned on him. but that would mean that he'd probably just scoff it off ?? (also like this is heretic!kai, so couldn't he just flip the switch and become double emotionless??)
him being so truly afraid of cade in s8 does still make sense to me, but only because i subscribe to post 6x17 kai being fairly OOC in s6. like, remorse filled/earnest/trying to atone kai probably DID hate seeing all his crimes repeatedly for 3 years. he was already going through that in s6 on his own with nightmares and flashbacks and we saw how it was weighing on him. but the version of him they painted for us at the end of s6 should have wanted to work with cade.
i will never forgive them for making katherine 'queen of hell' when kai was right there. if you wanted me to believe he was truly evil, then let him be evil. don't make him grovel with the MAN WHO MURDERED HIM and beg for the big bad scary devil to let him go. absolutely the fuck not either he's an evil twisted mastermind or he's my unmedicated aspd boy who needs a good therapist. the wishy-washy way they write him will never not get on my nerves.
so okay as far as specific hc's go for me, i guess i would say i think it went something like this:
"I mean, you'd think he'd at least flip a coin," Kai sighs, taking a few strolling steps closer to where Bonnie lays stretched out and bleeding before him. "Heads, he picks you, tails, he picks-" he blinks in surprise, the joke dying on his lips as the lights go out.
"Bon?" he calls, staring into the darkness now spread out before him.
Inky, awful darkness. The kind that makes his skin prickle. The kind that feels unending, like he's been swallowed whole.
"Bonnie?"
There's no answer.
There's no sound.
There's nothing.
Kai turns in a circle, looking down to find he can't even see his own feet. He stretches his hands in front of him, brings them up to touch his face, his neck, his chest - he's in one piece, his newly undead heart still beating, but something is wrong.
"Alright, what the fuck is this," he tries again, his voice breaking slightly. "Is this a spell, Bon? Where am I?"
"A spell?" A voice reaches him from somewhere in the shadows, teasing and soft. "No, dear boy, it's much worse than a spell."
Kai's eyes narrow, his new senses turning him towards the sound of nearly silent footsteps. Someone's coming, drawing closer through the abyss. "Where am I?"
"My home," the voice murmurs, speaking now from his opposite side.
Kai curses, spinning in place. "Right, okay," he nods, his jaw clenching. "Looks like you forgot to pay the power bill."
"Funny," a hand touches his face, fingers running over his jaw. "I do love jokes."
Kai stumbles back, his skin tingling with warning. "W - who are you?" he asks, his hands curling into fists at his sides. He expects his magic to surge, to gather at the tips of his fingers in a defensive wave, but it hardly responds to his call.
"Ah," the voice tuts, as though it can see him, as though it can read his thoughts before he's even had them. "I'm afraid your usual tricks won't work here. Though, magic wasn't always your chosen weapon, was it, Malachai?"
The sound of his full name makes him recoil, unease winding through him like a pile of vengeful snakes. "Who are you?" he asks again, his voice low and rough. "Where am I?"
The laugh hits his ears first, a moment before the flames ignite at his feet. They spread up his legs, vicious and fast, wrapping his chest, his arms, covering his face -
Kai's entire body locks up, half from surprise and half from the excruciating, mind numbing pain. He doesn't even have the breath for a scream, his eyes squeezed shut, tremors wracking through him.
His head spins, trying to think of a way to make it stop, desperate for some answer that won't come. Why is this happening? How'd he even get here? The last thing he remembers is looking over at -
"Bonnie," he groans, her name coming out a shredded snarl. Even as he says it, he knows she isn't to blame. If she wanted to hurt him, she'd do it with her own hands. She wouldn't put him in some fancy black hole, lit up with fire he can't even fucking see - "stop," he pleads before he can think better of it, "stop-,"
The flames wink out, giving him a few seconds to catch his breath.
"But I thought you wanted to know where you are?" The voice is back, circling him like a shark through deep water. "You wanted to know who I am, didn't you?"
Golden flame lights the darkness, burning bright in the hand of a man paused in front of him. The warm glow of the fire bounces off his dark skin, catching on the wicked curve of his smile.
"Call me Cade," he murmurs, his eyes glowing with their own sparkling fire. "Welcome to Hell."
**** Hell fucking sucks.
Objectively, Kai saw that one coming.
Of course, Hell sucks, it's Hell. He didn't exactly picture rainbows and butterflies. Still the fire, the smoke, the pain, the screaming - they're all things he might enjoy separately, sure, but rolled into one they add up to something truly...hellish.
And he hates it.
He hates it, he hates it, he hates it.
After their first meeting, Cade left him burning for days, or maybe weeks, possibly even a year. Just burning in the dark, gritting his teeth through the pain, until it had suddenly stopped.
Kai'd been so shocked he'd collapsed, barely catching himself with arms that felt like jelly from so long spent tensed and locked in place. He'd opened his eyes to find his fingers gripping grass, the color of it so surprising that he'd nearly thrown up.
Then he'd felt the sun, hot and bright on his back, and he'd lifted his eyes with a low curse. "What the fuck," he'd panted, staring up at the white siding, the wide front porch, the stupid tree stump.
He'd pushed himself up on shaking legs, took a few staggering steps forward and caught himself on the railing. There were toys dumped on the steps, handprints smudged low on the glass door, the entire picture a little too '94 for his liking.
"Okay, I'll play," he'd muttered, forcing himself up the stairs and inside, eyeing the blood staining the walls. He'd taken one look at the dead weight swinging from the stairs and immediately missed the safety of the dark.
"What's the matter?" Cade had drawled, appearing on the second floor landing above him. "Aren't you proud of your work?"
The sight of him, dressed again in that infuriating suit, had set Kai's blood ablaze. "What is this?" He'd snarled, trying and failing to get the front door open again. "You want me to tell you how much I regret it?"
"Of course not," Cade had laughed, strolling down the stairs to stand before him. He'd held up a blade, the familiar tapered edge already painted a sticky red. "I want you to relive it."
Kai had flicked his furious gaze up from the knife, refusing to take it.
"Go on," Cade had insisted, his usual smile lifting the corner of his mouth. "Josette's waiting upstairs. In the master bedroom, right?"
Kai had watched his hand lift for the knife, his fingers curling around the hilt despite the way he willed his body not to. And then he'd gone upstairs, and -
He'd repeated that afternoon alone for months.
Again and again and again, until he knew the exact expressions on each one of his siblings faces as they died beneath his hands, until he could time their echoing screams with the rough sound of his breath.
By the time the fire had finally returned, he'd welcomed it.
More time was lost burning, his mind so frayed he'd hardly heard himself begging for it to stop. Then quiet, and sunlight, and a witch with skin the color of molten bronze strolling ahead of him.
"Bonnie," he'd croaked, so painfully thankful to see her that his knees had gone weak.
"Such a lovely girl. You stalked her for weeks, didn't you?" Cade had asked, appearing beside him. His dark eyes had followed Bonnie as she walked ahead of them, unaware and unbothered by their silent presence at her back. "You watched her eat, sleep, listened while she cried over how helpless she felt trapped here with no one but a Salvatore for comfort. Why didn't you go to her, Malachai? Why didn't you help?"
"They were friends and she still hated him," he'd said, his throat raw from screaming. "I knew she'd never want me."
"Ah, yes, and how could she?" Cade had tutted, his hands tucked into his pockets, that awful smile curling his lips. "After everything you put her through."
Those memories shred him into pieces. Watching Bonnie grow to hate him hurts just as much the second and third and hundredth time. His hands shake each time he stabs her, each time she gasps for breath, each time her body smashes into the wall before crashing to the unforgiving hardwood floor.
He just wants her to listen, to stop running, to let him change it - but she pulls from him every time, no matter how hard he tries to hold on.
Then more fire, more burning, though this time he doesn't bother to beg for it to stop.
And then the wedding, the stupid fucking wedding -
Josette in her dress, pretty and smiling and so fucking happy he wants to tear her throat out with his bare hands. Ric looking smug and dazed until the moment she starts bleeding, his own will to live draining out to the floor alongside hers. The room shattering beneath his power -
Cade must think he enjoys that one far too much, because he's only forced to relive it once.
That feeling of being broken open for good fills him up, gives him enough strength to face the flames with an almost reverent sort of affection. If he can weather this, if he can stay on his feet while the devil himself tries to break him, what can't he do?
It's the wrong thought to have in the realm of a mind reader.
Cade ups his game after that, lulling him with false memories until it's hard to know what's real and what's a part of his game.
He spends a few months in a life where the merge was never stopped, where Jo died and the coven hadn't hated him. It shatters when the version of her trapped inside his mind drives him to true madness, her disgust in his abilities and calculated rage at his win enough to send him spiraling - even if it means taking everyone else down with them.
Another endless stretch of time gets eaten by a world where he never stopped the wedding, where Jo had her girls and they called him Uncle Kai and he let himself love them until the night before they turned 22 and he snapped their necks with his eyes squeezed closed.
Then there's a week or so spent with Bonnie on his arm, back in mystic falls with her useless friends. She likes him, wants him, up until the moment one of her precious vampires picks a fight and winds up dead at his feet.
"You're a monster," she says then, her power turned on him all over again.
Yes, he wants to scream at her, at Jo, at Cade, at himself. I know.
He's terrible.
Disgusting.
Monstrous.
And he always has been.
It doesn't matter that he wants to do it differently, everything always unravels. He poisons anything he dares to love, sucking it dry until only husks remain. His hands are weapons, meant to destroy. Even his name is a curse - an omen he can't outrun.
Kai forgets what it's like outside this endless nightmare. There's a world somewhere else, he's pretty sure it still exists. There's more than fire and memory and pain - but he can't hold onto it anymore.
He burns and he pretends and he burns and he remembers and he burns, burns, burns -
Until a deafening ring fills his ears.
The flames swallow the sound, crackling in his ears.
The ringing comes again, and again, and -
An image reaches him through the smoke, but Kai just lets out a ragged groan, in no mood to struggle through another twisted fantasy of Cade's design.
But then he hears voices, the clatter of dishes, and something in him roars to life. Fuck this.
Fuck Cade, fuck Hell, fuck all of it.
Kai hurtles himself forward through the dark, sprinting like his eternal life depends on it.
The ringing continues, pounding through him like a drum. He runs faster, harder, praying that this isn't another fucking trick - he tumbles headfirst through a ripple of magic, stumbling to a stop before he can crash into a familiar bar top.
Mystic Falls, The Grill - he's back, he's alive, he's starving. His pulse hammers wildly in his ears, his blood thundering through his veins like a freight train. He's back. He's alive. It worked.
This time, he's determined to get it all right.
Even if it kills him.

maybe somewhat controversial but saw somethin on a confessions blog saying this and i guess i do kinda miss when rping felt... sillier at times? like with both the existence of magic anons & dash commentaries. things just feel Stricter or More Serious now? not sure how to put it. dash commentaries do still happen, but not as frequently as i used to. like GOSH, i remember 5+ years ago, i'd have my character saying something bizarre and it would BLOW the entire dashboard up. like almost all my mutuals would be commenting on it, a lot of "silly drama" would happen because of it. some would agree with my muse, some would prosecute them. that doesn't really happen anymore. though, i also understand. i get that ppl have boundaries, but sometimes it really feels like you have to walk on eggshells lest you upset somebody.
i recalled one time this character was just being AWFUL to mine (mine who has done nothing wrong lol) just hurling insults, mistreating them, whateves. so y'know, there were dash commentaries about this and it eventually lead to the other mun getting very upset that their character was being "villainized". and it's like ... don't ... write an antagonistic muse if you don't want that? or the very least, don't write them BEING antagonistic toward innocent people? i mean, when ppl's muses & anons used to bully abaddon, i actually loved it. because indeed deserved it, he's a horrible horrible person who mistreats and kills the innocents. and plus it's just fun ok? i love conflict - regardless if it's angsty, serious, or silly conflict.
and magic anons... i get it can be a flawed concept. (ppl can send their Thinly Disguised Fetishes in it - not that i care but obvs other ppl would rightfully care) but i still thought it was very fun because it's like temporary or mini aus. it plunges characters into otherwise impossible scenarios and then give you new thread concepts based on those scenarios. i'd say even to this day, i still accept magic anons. but that feels pointless to say because they're virtually nonexistent anymore.
this was all i was gonna discuss in this post, but i can also understand why the rpc is often... less engaging anymore? why we have a problem with communication, why we have a problem with less anons being sent out. this isn't a generalization, of course - there are other reasons why this happens. but this is something i've personally experienced in the past, and it makes me think it could be the same for other people. it's just the fear of being blown up at, again - upsetting somebody.
i've seen people be legit hateful towards the anons they get A LOT. like an old rper i've stopped writing with would literally call the anons "assholes" and trying to "ruin fun" because the anons would just comment on the threads or ask questions regarding the threads? and it's like i thought that was supposed to be a common thing... anons like that just help add insight to how the muse is feeling regarding a thread or somethin. but the way they reacted was so unnecessary hostile? when they could've politely told anons to stop or just... fucking deleted the anons like lmao. and it's not just this too but i've seen other people just react bitterly to certain anons they get. or this one time where somebody REQUESTED for CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM and i sent an anon giving my criticism, can't remember quite what it was but obvs i said nothing mean or insulting - i just told them a problem i noticed and gave tips on how they could possibly improve (AGAIN, THEY ASKED FOR THIS) and they later went on their blog talking about how they got ANON HATE???? HELLO????? so yeah, i understand not liking certain anons you get or whatever. but ppl react to them with so much hostility, that it makes everyone else afraid to send anons anymore because they'd rather say nothing than upset the user, especially if they're gonna be potentially villainized for something that is virtually harmless.
then there is just talking to people ooc. hell, i've had somebody who followed one of my old blogs (this was like a few years ago iirc?) and their rules had that blood was one of their triggers. so i told them that i tag that so they don't have to worry and they literally said something like "I didn't ask you to :/" and that's it??? and then they were just rude to me the entire convo until we eventually unfollowed lol. not to mention all the skype & discord contacts i add over the years and then we just stop talking in no time...
anyway, i'm not saying everyone is like this at all! there are MANY super cool people in the rpc, many people i have a lotta fun writing with here. but when you look back at all the bad experiences, or even looking at the bad experiences at are currently unfolding, it makes more and more sense why a lotta the "silly" rp aspects that ceased to exist. why there are no more magic anons, and why dash commentary & anons in general are becoming more and more scarce.
it was this post that inspired me to talk about this. which i actually don't agree with everything op said. in fact, i wouldn't even say the primary issue of current threads is romance or smut. more so, i noticed that fluff / slice of life threads with no conflict is what makes up for most threads nowadays it seems lmao. which is also understandable, because again - it's a popular known issue within the rpc that it's hard to have conflict in threads, lest somebody legit gets their feelings hurt OOC!!! hell, this has happened to me a few times because i often play antagonistic muses. which again, is another issue that makes people feel like they're constantly walking on eggshells. but anyway, it just inspired me to think about and discuss this.

Felix and Kagami dating is way too out of the blue that Adrinette dating can't even compare. Kagami went from "You kidnapper!!" To "He's the same as me just socially inept kid!" In less than ten minutes top and I always wonder what the heck is happening. But the last scene where Felix give back Kagami's ring make me wonder if he slipped a command to make her change her mind about him. He's an oportunist thorough and thorough and also despite his claim that creating and destroying a sentimonster is cruel act, he didn't seems to have big moral flop after the red moon incident. So what's the chance he didn't do it, especially if he think it will works in some way?
Yeah like, they speed-ran enemies to lovers so quickly and both their characters suffer for it. It makes Kagami look pretty awful for siding with the guy who betrayed her friend and hurt her so badly, who is the reason their city is in danger, and Kagami goes ahead and lets Felix know her identity? What the fuck Kagami?
And I don't like how Felix is considered to be redeemed just because he's dating Kagami. He hasn't changed, he still justifies himself and doesn't apologize for the hurt he's caused Adrien and Marinette.
And literally, Kagami apparently falls in love with him a few days after he kills her mother in front of her. Sure, he brought everyone back, but he had to be talked into it, and yet she's so chill about trusting and defending him. This all also after he's just kidnapped her violently and admitted to having spent the past few days stalking her. It's played off as endearing because Marinette also does the same thing, and she just goes "you're so bad at social interactions" instead of calling Felix deranged and trying to get away from him. And apparently it just takes Felix giving one hint at a sob story and one speech about Senti-rights to convince her that everyone was wrong about him and that he never did anything wrong and that he was just misunderstood and couldn't express himself. That's some BS if I ever heard any. Kagami with the strong sense of justice who held a grudge against Adrien for not being a good boyfriend (she had the right to hold a grudge, I'm not blaming her for that, just pointing it out) just... instantly forgives Felix and defends him, and agrees with his justifications for betraying Ladybug and the people of Paris for selfish reasons? Kagami, who hates liars and manipulators, goes behind Marinette's back to reveal her identity without her consent to the last person she'd ever want knowing that information. Feligami as a ship thoroughly assassinated Kagami's character in every single aspect, and I hate what they did to my girl so much. The moment she started a relationship with Felix, her character just became so insufferable.
And Felix goes from being a wild card villain to just "sad boy uwu" the moment he meets her, and the writing just starts pretending his negative qualities, like his manipulative ways and his tendency to lie and take advantage of other people don't exist anymore. Because if they acknowledged those, then they'd have to acknowledge that Kagami "I hate liars" Tsurugi would despise him. Their personalities do not click at all, and for them to have any kind of dynamic and to speedrun their relationship, the writers wrote out their qualities that oppose and clash with the other person and just made them so OOC that it would enable them to get together in a few days. Kagami is saying shit about how Gabe and Tomoe won't allow them to "love each other freely" with her whole chest after she's known this guy for less than a week. And like, the way Kagami now just cares about her love with Felix instead of about anyone else around her, especially in the season dedicated to her friendships with others is so... bleh.
And I don't think Felix can be considered redeemed just because he's now just focusing on his obsession with this girl instead of trying to ruin his cousin's life again. All that talk about how he's doing this for Adrien and how he wants to fight for Senti-rights, and it all goes down the drain the moment he meets Kagami. Apparently, those things don't matter to him anymore, because he never mentions or speaks to Adrien ever again, outside of bringing him up as "the boy who Marinette loves." And he's perfectly okay with killing the Senti-projector, so I guess the drive to find freedom and justice for his fellow Sentimonsters was just a silly phase that he gave up on once he found a girlfriend? Okay.
And the implications! Felix just loves her because she's a Sentimonster like him, Kagami just confessed to still being in love with Adrien and he has Adrien's exact face and is similar to Adrien and Marinette (because they are both stalkers apparently). It just seems like their projecting their feelings onto the first person who seems like they meet their expectations instead of liking them for who they really are. Felix doesn't know jack shit about Kagami, and Kagami doesn't know anything about Felix other than that he's a massive jackass, and they are apparently in love less than week later? Sure Jan.
I don't think Felix used her Amok, honestly, but I also can't help but think it makes so much sense as to why Kagami does a complete 180 about him, like, she went from hating his guts to defending him against Ladybug and Chat Noir in less than a few hours. That ain't the Kagami I know, and it would make sense if she had been commanded to do so with her Amok. I used to think that Felix wouldn't do that, at least, but given how willing he was to give Adrien's free will back to Gabriel and how willing he was to kill his Senti-projector, I don't put it past him honestly. He's a massive hypocrite.
I have plenty more thoughts on these two and not enough time to write it all down, but I have written a long critique of Felix and Feligami here, if you're interested. But yeah, they suck lmao.
Thank you for your ask!

I hate the defense of dramatic irony for Lanolin's actions, to be honest. Especially because it's not even good dramatic irony: it just stems from characters being idiots and shit friends to each other (see: the entire bit of Silver and the DC in issue 63 and 64.) Sure, Lanolin can't know Duo is Mimic! But 1. We as audience sure do because we are constantly beaten over the head with it, making her be a bitch all the time extremely frustrating because we KNOW she is wrong, and 2. She SHOULD, because the only reason she hasn't noticed yet is because the plot demands the DC to be betrayed again no matter how OOC everyone must become to make that so.
Also, Whisper saw Duo kick Silver and he clearly told her Duo's face changed (of course not to Tangle and Lanolin too though), so why is she hanging out with him now?? Even if Duo's lifethreatening four feet fall didn't show he was Mimic, does she doubt herself so much that she thought she imagined the kick too or something?? Girl just pull off his glove and check his hands, you know the puckers on there are Mimic's clear tell. Or even his brown eyes, Duo's color, or the fact he looks 80% like your dead friend.
As I said in the past, Lanolin was a terrible choice for this sort of plot. You know those cartoon episodes where the antagonist pulled pranks, and then the protagonists got blamed in their place, and it's all haha funny hijinks? This is the same thing, which is already not a very engaging plot, because the characters we care about are getting punished for no fault of their own. To make things worse, we don't know Lanolin! She has just appeared in her new #girlboss version, and right off the bat, she's antagonizing characters we have spent years knowing and getting attached to, both the comic OCs and canon characters.
Why would I want to side with her, or see her POV? She is wrong, she is not entertainingly wrong, and her behavior is not only nasty, but even unfair in-universe: she has brushed off both Silver and Whisper without giving them a single chance of explaining themselves, especially bad in the former's case because it was a case of "he says, he says", but she immediately jumps to berate Silver and treat him like an idiot instead of doing the leader thing and try to listen to both sides. And as for Whisper, yes she was stupid to not bring proof with her, but the moment the name Mimic slipped out of her mouth, Lanolin should have at least questioned her more and tried to understand why she was suspecting Duo, instead of immediately being like "WHY ARE YOU HARASSING MY POOR LIL KITTEN đĽş". fuck that "she cares about everyone and it shows", she's only biased towards Duo, which would be unfair even if he wasn't the villain in disguise.
Forget Duo, I don't even know how Whisper can hang around Lanolin by #67 without secretly seething for this whole accident. I really, really don't like how she orders Whisper to "control herself" after she says that she suspects Duo is actually the guy who traumatized her, especially after she learns that she was betrayed and has good reasons to not trust easily. Where's all that compassion now? Brings all sorts of unfortunate implications about how Lanolin sees Whisper. (also "Silver is one thing" sounds really demeaning too)
Yes, it makes sense for the kind of character she is meant to be, the no-nonsense rule stickler. I'm allowed to think she's an ass and to say I find her thoroughly unenjoyable.
But yeah, Whisper simply letting all go makes her look very weak and insecure. "welp, guess Lanolin was right, and I was dumb! Oh well, my trauma makes me unstable! No hard feelings bestie!" yeah no it's not how it works. It doesn't help that in her next appearance, Sonic also walks all over her resentment towards Surge and guilt trips her into accepting the girl who beat her up and stole her Wisp friends - this poor woman cannot catch a break, everyone treats her like shit.

Becoming Elizabeth: the autopsy
I just realised I never did a review of episode 8. Lol. Lmao even. This isn't an episode review but rather a discussion of the show upon rewatch.
Basically this is a show where the whole is not equal to the sum of its parts.
When I talk about the problems with the writing, I generally mean the narrative choices. The literal writing itself is good. Particularly for Tommy S, because those funny and witty/endearing lines explain his charm and why he is able to win over people and make them think he's a nice guy he's a funny guy he's a lovable rogue he's an adventurer. Tommy S does need to have some charm/charisma in order to be an effective villain. He can't go around being obviously evil.
There are still too many F words, but i was pleasantly surprised that there weren't as many as I remembered. And some F words I couldn't bear to part with: "The fuck is that?" And "what the fuck is wrong with you?!" In episode 5 for example.
I've seen some people say that the quality of the writing dropped in the episodes that aren't Anya Reiss but.... I think the quality of the writing was consistent. The iconic "I wish to take my c***ing bath" was not in an Anya episode, and neither was one of my favourite scenes in the whole show (yes it's the Dudley swordfighting training scene but it's an objectively good scene and not just because it's cute boys in fencing gear).
I initially thought episode 7 was my least favourite episode, but looking back there isn't really a good episode or a bad episode. Every episode has something I like and a bunch of stuff I'd change. If I had to pick 2 favourite episodes I'd pick 1 and 6. But because the problems are with narrative choices they're spread across the series. Even in episode 1, we have Elizabeth "I said at 9 i didn't want to marry so a lot would need to happen to change my mind" Tudor suddenly deciding she wants to marry a man she barely knows because hormones and they had a nice conversation one time. The rot set in quickly.
After the first four episodes I started skipping Mary and Tommy S scenes. I won't say any more on Katherine Parr because I've already said all I have to say on her characterisation. I did do some soul searching because I wondered if my dislike of her was subconscious internalised misogyny, given my affection for morally ambiguous male characters. But no, she really does lack both charm and depth.
So why is Becoming Elizabeth so narratively unsatisfying? Aside from Elizabeth being OOC, I think it's that the story feels like it's going around in circles.
Jane and Elizabeth clash. They make up. Then in episode 7 they fall out again. Mary and Edward fight, make up, fight, make up, fight again. Elizabeth realises Tommy S is dangerous, then she forgets, then she realises again. Mary scolds this character and they don't listen and then this character and they don't listen.
Yes character development isn't linear but it isn't circular either. It GOES somewhere. Setup and payoff are mutually reinforcing. It's fun to watch the setup because you know what's coming as a result of it. Payoff is fun because you saw how we got here. But it isn't satisfying to watch something that you know won't result in anything permanent. I don't feel anything watching Jane be tactless to Elizabeth in episode 1 because I know she'll be even MORE tactless in episode 7. And I don't feel anything seeing Elizabeth reach out the hand of friendship to Jane after the recital fiasco because I know in episode 7 they'll just fall out again. Whereas with Mary and Elizabeth they at least end the series with their relationship in a different place (hell).
And I have every sympathy with the writers because I'm up to my eyeballs at editing and I know what it's like to take historical events and try and make a plot and character arcs out of them. But the letter subplot and the Danish marriage subplot were largely fictional anyway. And they kinda went nowhere.
I understand that the showrunners wanted a complex villain in Tommy S. I get it. My favourite characters in this show are people capable of great love and also great harm. But to humanise him you only really needed that conversation with Elizabeth in episode 1 establishing his uncertainty and confusion, and the excellent "goshawk hatching out of a goose egg" scene with Jane. That establishes that he has the ability to be good he just chooses to be awful. So yes, the show really did give him too much screen time. He's not the main character, Elizabeth is! He should not have screen time comparable with her and her siblings! This wasn't supposed to be the Tommy S show! Nobody asked for that!
Gardiner is another problem IMHO. Setting aside the fact he's way too young to be the real Gardiner. He really shouldn't be here. He spent Edward's reign in the Tower. I know he shows up as a result of the fictional plots... so why write those fictional plots to the point you have to bring him in?? Cranmer IS important. You could have had Cranmer pushing Edward to be radical, Ed pushing him to be more lenient, and Daddy Dudley balancing the two. Voila, a dynamic!
And I get that Elizabeth wasn't doing much politically 1550-3 but you could still show her reacting and learning from events around her rather than warping Edward's reign completely out of shape AND making her a side character in her own story.

Can I ask your top 10 fav fics ever (from any fandom, if you don't mind)?
Also, just curious, is there a story behind your name "ladypfenix "?
I don't mind at all! Thank you for waiting quite a long while though, life has been.... hectic recently, to say the least.
I'll answer the story question here, then list the fics below since there's a lot.
It's a pretty simple story, when my sister and I were 14 and 16, we had a dream of starting a youtube channel as siblings, and we were going to use noble titles. I picked LadyPfenix for mine and opened my tumblr account with that in mind, but the idea never materialized beyond usernames and it has long since outlasted that dream. At this point I've had it too long to bother changing it, even though I'm using Admiranda most other places I go. Some things just stick.
I don't know that I have a top ten fave fics ever, it's hard for me to quantify on that level, but I'll definitely lay out the ones I keep going back to years on down the line even long after I've left the fandom. There's definitely something special about them that I will always enjoy.

[A System error during execution bound you to Shi Yuanâs account instead of the intended Shen Qingqiu. We sincerely apologize.
You will be given the chance to climb from your current position of canon fodder as the story progresses and plot points become available to you. As Shi Yuan does not have an established character the OOC function is automatically unlocked, please accept this bonus as your compensation for the mistaken role.
Please ensure that no score falls below zero, or the System will automatically administer punishment.]
Intended role of Shen Qingqiu?! The fuck, were you trying to kill me? Why would anyone think transmigrating into that scum of all people would be helpful? Alright, alright. Shi Yuan takes a deep breath. He can deal with this. So heâd transmigrated into the shitty novel heâd just finished, but at least heâd somehow avoided becoming the villain. Or: Shen Yuan transmigrates into Proud Immortal Demon Way as a Bai Zhan Peak disciple.

âThis is an inane discussion,â Soren said. âIâm coming with you, and thatâs final.â He took a step forward and swayed. If Ike reached out and shoved with one finger, he was sure he could topple Soren right over. He kept his arms folded so he wouldnât be tempted to try and make a point. âIâm still your commander, arenât I?â Ike asked, raising his eyebrows. âYou still trust me to make decisions?â âYes, but, Ike ââ he said. âThen youâll do as I say, for the good of the company,â Ike said. âI wonât risk you. Youâre too important.â He stepped close, adjusting the hood of Sorenâs cloak. He lowered his voice so he wouldnât be heard by Shinon and Gatrie, waiting up by the gate. âGo back to bed,â he said, his voice gentler. âIâll be home soon.â -- Post-Path of Radiance, Ike and Soren share a promise, a first kiss, and a bed. Not in that order.

"So it's a bet?" Jiang Cheng said. "Dance the showcase if you get him, fancy coffee machine if you don't?" Wei Wuxian considered the machine. "Fine. You're on. I want it in red." "Don't start planning your caffeine overdose yet." "It's in the bag," Wei Wuxian said cheerfully. "There's no way they'll match me with someone like Lan Wangji." Â Teaching Lan Wangji to dance in front of the nation for twelve weeks, how hard can that be? Wei Wuxian is about to find out.

this world (what I make of it) by glitteringmoonlight
The war had consequences. Once, a fully realized Avatar referred to one who had mastered all the elements and could go into the Avatar State. Now, that has changed. No one could master fire when there was no one to teach it, and people feared the abilities of a firebender too much to allow anyone, even the Avatar, to learn too much of it. Now, an Avatar was simply said to be fully realized when their instructors decided they had learnt enough. Â In which Lan Sizhui is the Avatar, but he cannot firebend, nor can he waterbend very well. That changes when his travels take him to Yiling.
Preparing the Soil by Rynne
When Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian return to spend the first winter after their marriage in the Cloud Recesses, Wangji is forced to grapple with his uncle's resistance to accepting his new husband fully into the clan. At the heart of this conflict is Lan Qiren's rule forbidding talking to Wei Wuxian. How can Wangji make the Cloud Recesses a more welcoming place for his husband when what he fights now is his uncle's stubbornness?

the marvels:
look, i really enjoyed it.
it was a lot of fun!
and i am probably biased cause i am a fan, so i am for whom this movie was made.
but
i do think it feels a bit rushed.
mainly cause it's trying to do a lot of things at the same time.
captain marvel ends with her setting out on her own to be a hero, wanting to defeat her captors, help the kree.
...
and then we jump and it's been a long time.
we should've gotten something, just of her being a hero on her own.
going on adventures
so we can come back here and do this whole thing
because we have a villain who's trying to get revenge on her and fix her planet, which we didn't know was broken
we didnt know what had become of her
why her and monica weren't talking
it's the same thing with black widow or cap
black widow got one movie, and everything else was off-screen, when she should've gotten several.
captain america shouldve gotten something between tws and civil war
iron man got several movies of learning to be a hero
if you want to renew the cast, you need to do the same
give them time to breathe.
not just leave it to random moments in other people's adventures
it seems ooc that carol would never come back to see her family, after fighting so hard to regain it
i also have issues with the way the mcu just decided stark enterprised wasnt a thing anymore, now it was damage control and SABER
where did they come from? who cares
they spent the first ten years carefully crafting a universe and then just started throwing random shit at the wall.
some of it is really good but a lot of it doesnt connect anymore
it only works in isolation
carol fucking shit up cause shes angry, then running home when she sees the resulting chaos, and been comforted by her family, and then running back to fix it, that sounds a lot better.
but so often sequels hate to see some decent family relationships, the heroes can never be good parents, things are shit till we almost die and then we fix it before we die
it's more of 'we want to do x, but we don't want to do the work of thinking or showing, why would x happen, how do we drive our characters there' instead it's just 'x is happening, don't ask why'
like, carol is a hot head. if you read the comics you know this. and she has done a lot of dumb, impulsive things.
so her running off and making things worse isn't all that strange really.
but it was obvious from the beginning that she should be the one to fix it, and it makes carol look bad that she doesn't realise that.
that she can fix it.
not even previous attempts to try to fix it.
they wouldn't want her to, but her fucking up can be a good learning moment.
i did something stupid and violent, so now I try not to jump to violence
there was jsut a lot more to do, and i feel like marvel was just cheapening out rather than try to do something more with carol.
cause the other two are great, but it shouldve been more about carol's journey i guess???
they made a point of showing her being a hero in the fucking 90s of saying she's been at this a while, but then we don't get to see any of it, and she doesn't act like someone who does in fact have a lot of experience.
it is a lot of fun, and i will see it again, but yeah i do feel they went for something easy, and there's nothing wrong with that, but it should've come after we get something more substantial

Dramitas & series - part 2
I watched quite a lot of dramas and series the past year, sadly I watched half of them while freelancing (it's great to multitask, it saves a lot of time).Â
Better Call Saul âââââ
I was a fan of Breaking bad, it was cool to see a lot of the original characters again and I really enjoyed the new ones. I had a good time. Itâs perfect, the cast, the script, the photography, they deserved some of the golden globes, they were nominated many times but never won one (at the end it just a popularity contest ÂŹ ÂŹ)
House of the dragon ââââ
I watched  this series from a very critical point of view, considering that there are no heroes or villains as such, just people making decisions and of course I watched it for the main reason, the dragons! Viserys looks like my dad physically (even the long curly hair) so it was very awkward to see him in his final stage. The final episode was epic. I'll wait patiently for that glorious battle.
Interview with the vampire ââââ
Good adaptation, they even updated it, I loved the three main actors although at first I was very hesitant. I just don't like sex scenes in general, so there was this scene and I covered up for a bit đ then looked back and laughed, they were fucking floating! haha.
I didn't like the domestic violence scene. L can be very toxic, but I don't think that scene was necessary (for me it was OOC). â
The boys âââ1/2
I watched all the seasons in a marathon every night for a month O_O
It's so funny that they always have an episode in every season where they show something completely crazy and gross, I wonder what they have planned for season four. It's very good satire and social criticism but I can't tolerate too much sexual scenes, which abound haha, I tend to fast forward or look elsewhere (that stupid toilet scene! I wish I could unsee it! ).
Obi-Wan Kenobi âââ1/2
Many things can be improved (cough cough chase scenes), but I really respect the actors who returned to the franchise after a long time, I still hope there will be a second season.
Dropped
Willow
I was a little disappointed that it is the name of the show and he is not the main character, I only watched one episode, the plot is not something that kept me interested :S
Rings of power
I only watched one episode. I didn't like the script and I didn't empathize with anyone, I liked the effects, but that was it.
HIStory 5
I donât even know what to say (I watched Trapped and though this was going to be good)
Candy color paradox
Not my thing, maybe I'll try to watch it later
Still watching
The last of us
I like it so much that I want to play again
Edit: The pace became very slow and the ending felt weak and anticlimactic.
The blood of youth
Still need to catch up
My beautiful man 2
I didnât know it was a novel, good to know, to explore and understand the characters more later
These are just personal dumb opinions so don't take them seriously. It's just a pretext to practice my English (itâs bad XD)

SHIPPING INFO // ANSWER THE FOLLOWING FOR YOUR MUSES SO PEOPLE KNOW HOW SHIPPING WORKS ON YOUR BLOG.
Note: For this entire post, 'ship' and 'shipping' are referred to solely in a romantic & sexual manner.
WHAT IS YOUR OTP FOR YOUR CHARACTER(S)?
YagiFin. That's about as obvious as it gets----
HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?
Any minors trying to get shipped with Yagi or Fin. Beyond that? Don't really care. I generally view it as 'is this character out of two-year college range and is a consenting adult that does not have the mind of a child', and if they meet those requirements? Then I'm down to discuss, so long as Yagi and Fin did not know the other character when said character was a minor (if either Yagi or Fin would have been an adult at that time), in which case they are eternally stuck in platonic/familial shipping only. That's just uncomfy as fuck.
Biggest reason for not being against age gaps is because Fin is twenty-six, and my take on Yagi (Pyre) is fifty. Man is basically double Fin's age- but he didn't meet Fin until they were very much an adult. Any character younger than twenty-one would be an instant 'no'. Any character meeting Yagi/Fin as adults when said character is a child, and then passing the age threshold and asking about shipping, would also be an instant no.
ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?
Kind of? I'm not going to ship Yagi and Fin with flat-out villains who show no remorse or signs of changing. And if the mun never DMs me OOC about it? It's not happening either way. Civilians and fellow Heroes are very much on-the-table, though.
With any muse I'd consider shipping Yagi and Fin with, one of the very first things would be that there would be mutual affection between all three, even if it's exhibited in different ways between them. If there ain't mutual affection, there ain't gonna be a ship. Yagi and Fin are a set.
WHO ARE OTHER CHARACTERS YOU SHIP YOUR CHARACTER(S) WITH?
Hm... Aizawa, Yamada, Midnight, Ectoplasm, Power Loader, Best Jeanist, Enji (this one would take plenty of development to even get to), Nighteye (also a lot of development required), David Shield (yet again, a lot of development required).
DOES ONE HAVE TO ASK TO SHIP WITH YOU?
Yep. I get a bit antsy asking if others want to ship, but I do try to ask if they'd be down if I see our muses going that way. Especially since I refuse to get rid of Yagi and Fin being in a soulmate AU (with one another), which means every ship would require some degree of development/OOC chatter.
ARE YOU SHIP-OBSESSED OR SHIP MORE-OR-LESS?
I...am definitely ship-obsessed. I do my best to limit what I post about to YagiFin and the occasional third party (glancing to you Potato), but. My mind really does default to ship. Ask and you will suffer. /lh /pos The only time it doesn't, is when Yagi and Fin are interacting with minors and the like- or characters who are immortal and coded as minors. In which case, I just think of the character in a familial/platonic context.
I also keep an eye on the rules of those I interact with. There are some muses who are of age that Yagi and Fin interact with, whom I refuse to ship with due to the other mun's views/rules/etc., since I want to respect the other mun's wishes.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SHIP IN YOUR CURRENT FANDOM?
...YagiFin. And no, you cannot ask me for my favorite 'canon x canon' pairing. YagiFin is my favorite pairing.
FINALLY, HOW DOES ONE SHIP WITH YOU?
Send me a DM, all it takes. If I think it'd work, I'd be down to discuss and sort out the finer details. If not, I'll let you know- and we'll just not do the ship.
