So. I've actually been kinda busy this August. Like, hella busy.

Printing

Painting

Helping with the Alan Wake fan booth I'm taking Jesse out to again

But mostly with printing, since it's possibly my last chance to print things until next May, because I print in my kitchen when my family and my cat aren't here to only poison myself lol

I've bought this printer last year, and before June I think it was sitting at around 15-20k printed layers. So like, imagine my surprise when I saw it passed 102 layers the other day. With my old Elegoo and this Photon last year, I ran through 5 liters of isopropanol over years. Now? I ran out of the fresh bottle in just this summer.

And all that on the single FEP, I've never changed it on my previous printer, and obviously haven't changed it on this one, so I was getting increasingly nervous with each print, hoping they won't cause a leak.

ANYWAY. YEAH. I actually thought I was done with printing a couple of weeks ago, but I stupidly forgot to print 1 !!!! small transparent piece for Rumi's sword, and since it's very bothersome for me to take printer out for printing and clean my kitchen afterwards... I said f it, I'm print a ton of things again. So I reprinted ALL the pieces for Rumi's sword with better resin, remodeled in-game Fallen Order holocron for printing, since random jedi holocron model failed miserably and had very thin walls. Redid Alicia's mask model painting and sculpting her patterns & reprinted it. And yeah, just generally printed out a bunch of small models I thought would be fun to make silicon molds of to use for epoxy resin.

So those were my prints from early August.

And those are from last weekend.

And I don't even remember how much I printed in earlier at this point, it's all a blur.

I still haven't finished painting Maelle's rapier since I barely had time to get my Control service weapon semi-ready for the con, I will be hand painting it tomorrow and show your guys the detailed process after the con, but basically the plan for the near future is as follows:

Get Shadowheart and Rumi ready for the con in early November. As you can see, I've crimped the wig for Rumi, now I need to add extensions for length and dye it, and I'll probably receive my costume in a couple of days.

Take Helaena with me on vacation near the sea in late September.

Aaaaand that's it as far as plans go. Still need to shoot a ton of things in front of my wall at the very least. ESPECIALLY MERRIN OH MY GOD. As you might have noticed, I printed out a lot more things for Expedition 33 & Mizora's horns and jewelry, but I honestly don't know what to do with them lol. Like I doubt I'll be doing Mizora, and for Expedition 33 I don't have the funds for the seamstress, and unfortunately for me it doesn't look like Manles are ever making the costume I really want (the white dlc one) to make some grand plans. But I just love the game designs, and since I'm no longer afraid of printing larger things, I just thought eh, why not?

My friend might actually do Clea, but obviously I'd love to find Gustave at some point. I need that annnngst. 👉👈 But with all the crafting I'm doing it just feels sort of meh to use it solely with the Baguette outfit. Like I love the Baguette outfits!!! But I want that kpop dlc one as I like to call it lol

Started printing Rumi's sword 🔪

Sucks that the new resin is yellow-ish for some reason even before UV curing, but hopefully I'll be able to fix it by painting it with semi-transparent shimmery paints and pigments.

I actually have a ton of things to print and barely any resin to, and two market places keep on failing me with deliveries, so like pray for me lol

Jedi and sith holocrons, Control's service weapon, Gustave's gun, some BG3 reprints & new prints. 10 more prints to go in general with like 1 litre of non-transparent resin & only one week during which I can print all that...

But it's giving me whiplash tbh, I've spent an ungodly amount of time trying to hide one of the seams, but no amount of sanding or cold welding helped. In fact, it only made it worse. I could of course go for the resin, but it's in the city, and I'm not there. So I'm just left with the seam in the middle & sort of a recess from trying to fix it lol

Decided to leave it be & not really care if gold paint makes a bit of a mess in places since ya know... Maellum actually looks textured af anyway, and even tho I'm not planning on adding texture paint, only some black, gold and bronze patina to make it more dimensional... I'm assuming an 'It's a feature, not a bug' philosophy from now on. Maaaaaybe some bronze wax as well, idk I've just bought it and haven't tested how it works.

I will, however, be adding texture paint to the handle to try and mimic the wood texture, and with that lord help me.

Actually the staging we did went like this:

And then sort of reworked ep 8 scene with him grabbing me not really he just held my wrists re 3rd pic, me breaking away, him cornering me, and me cornering him & standing my ground. Whiiiich sounds convoluted, but you can't really just. Stand on the stage for a minute+ doing nothing, so that's what we eventually came up with when rehearsing to fill in the gaps inbetween voiceovers.

I don't have the video to show you, unfortunately, but judging by the photos it worked out, heh.

oookay, I'm losing hope of actually finding any good photos from the con, so here are Helaemond selfies at least. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thought I'd at least get to priming stuff, but nope, I've actually spent like 4 days sanding and filling holes in the models (not just those ones obviously), cold welding, sanding again, then it was putty... So final sanding and priming this weekend, I guess. Hopefully I'll paint everything before I print the next batch of stuff in a couple of weeks.

But I'm actually mostly happy with how Maellum is shaping up so far. I was dreading putting all 8 pieces together since it's the most ambitious print I've done to date. It seems sturdy af aside from the curvatives, one of which straight up refuses to get attached to the rest of the rapier. At this point, I used cold welding to glue it three times, holding it to the rapier for 10 minutes aka the time it should take this welding to glue the pieces, 2nd and 3rd attempt even longer. idk what it is about the second curvative, because the first one glued with no problem whatsoever and holds fantastically. But yeah, otherwise it is sturdy and heavy. Will use rod of lighter metal for Rumi's sword probably, otherwise I might not be able to hold it lol

But yeah, the plan for next month is to reprint a non-manifold lumina converter (probably led?), print Control's service weapon (probably something else, too, assuming I've got to be Jesse again in a month) & Rumi's sword. Optionally I'm also thinking of Key Vess' blaster and Astarion's dagger. But that will depend on the time I have and how many prints the printer decides to fuck uo, since for the sword and converted I'll partly be using transparent resin, and that's always somewhat a gamble.

And, well, yeah, I will need to paint everything, including the things I only did the very base spray painting on last year.

Oh damn NO nononope PLEASE tell me they're not setting up Spock & La'an?

Because I remember another shot of them dancing from the trailer, and since Spock for whatever reason can't be single in this show, it sure looks like it. Like yeah, their scenes in ep 2 were cute, but I was barely able to enjoy them, because I was instantly dreading where it's headed.

I still think they handled Spapel very poorly, and I still am not back to liking Christine nearly as much as I did before that whole 2nd half of S2, DON'T YOU BLOODY DARE drag my other fave girl down the same path, show.

Like truly, I wanna like Christine as much as I used to, but what she did to Spock still makes no sense to me after all the buildup, no matter how much the show tries to bend over backwards to put most of the blame of their relationship not working out on Spock. The fuck was that "they cannot be (...) at the mercy of their own emotional storms"? Jess & Ethan acted the hell out of that scene, but it made me so angry. This really was the show putting the blame on Spock.

And don't even get me started about Roger, this is just... Like I know he had to come into the picture but just. Yeah, yep, sure, we've had 1,5 seasons of amazing Spapel buildup, and they didn't work, but miraculously with him everything is the sun, and the moon, and whatever. And I'm just lmfao the whole time. Yeah. Okay.

Anyway, I really hope they don't put Spock into another relationship asap, making him as much of an airhead as Christine. But at this point, I won't be surprised.

This was such a fun comfort show for me, but now I'm just bitter in advance, I guess. Making an AU wedding ep. 2 was... Not it. I really wish they started with something that is... Not 80% Spapel drama, because as much as I used to (and deep down probably still do) love them, bloody give Spock a break.

this was themed French fashion. Hence, I was in no rush to finish my prints & we didn't take it particularly seriously & couldn't really do painted Alicia or sad stuff

At, like... All. 😂 tbh I was so meh after the con last week I nearly decided to skip this planner altogether, but it's a good thing we didn't.

There actually is one upcoming that I miiight barely fit Hel into, buuut I'm not sure good photographers would be at it & Aemond will be so out of theme he probably won't even be allowed. Which is... :(
