I really love how totally unpredictable the quality on Genshin Impact quests is. Like I did the new archon quests and they were really good, so I did the world quests I'd started but couldn't finish before I lost good Internet and oh my god what nonsense. Like 15 minutes of shrieking dialogue with Paimon, leading to useless quest instructions that take an hour and two guides to work out, a boring fight which Ganyu and Zhongli together trivialise and then, instead of getting to wrap it up, i get TWELVE more sub quests to finish before this one will go away.
Like seriously wtf?
I just want to check this off my to do list 😭

genshin impact ❖ teyvat storyline, 4/?
#genshin#genshinedit#genshinet#genshin impact#mondstadt#liyue#inazuma#sumeru#m:gfx#m:*#m:gfx:all#flashing tw#trying something different :> although it nearly killed my laptop for good in the process#i've been wanting to do something representative of the archon quests for a while#and then i rediscovered those stamps from last year's new years web event and wanted to use them#but that's also why fontaine isn't here because it doesn't have one OTL sorry fontaine enjoyers#i considered making the stamp myself but i'm too lazy and this whole thing was already a lot of effort#the scenes i tried to balance it between like. key/memorable moments + different characters + cohesive compositions#(e.g. nothing too chaotic with movement and angles like most fight scenes tend to be)#the quotes similarly were ones i personally found really memorable and/or representative of the archon quest in question#i didn't even realize all of them except inazuma had their nation's theme (freedom contracts wisdom) in them until i put this together#so i skimmed through for an eternity one for inazuma but honestly i couldn't find any i wanted to use more than the ambitions one#and ambitions is a major theme the inazuma quest focused on that tied a lot into the themes of eternity anyways#if i had included fontaine the quote i chose would have balanced it out since that one doesn't explicitly say justice either#it was gonna be neuvillette's line#you are a devious one focalors. things as being as they are... surely you know that i could never again declare them to be 'guilty'

Thank you to all who participated in my polls about Arlecchino and Wanderer/Scaramouche!
As promised, I have updated my spreadsheets to list Arle as a Fontainian rather than a Snezhnayan. Here is the graph where I feel the change makes itself known the most:
Tumblr media
Due to Tartaglia being the only other playable character with a strong argument towards being Snezhnayan (which I have him listed as), the difference stands out considerably here, and in the changing averages.
Looking at this graph though, it's very clear that Hoyoverse doesn't pay much attention to Mondstadt. The last Mondstadt character to be released was Mika. Before him, it was Eula. Liyue has the advantage of the yearly Lantern Rite characters being released, while Inazuma still has characters tied to other nations (Wanderer and Chiori as examples). Sumeru recently had Sethos released and Fontaine will be getting a new character very soon. Mondstadt, however, has been seriously neglected. It almost feels like the five stars from Mondstadt don't rerun often either...
I think I'll add a new spreadsheet lol

— love at first thrust
Tumblr media

warnings. unedited, 18+ content (mdni), nsfw, cursing, masturbation, voyuerism, size difference kink, cunnilingus, fingering, name calling (slut), slight orgasm denial, skin biting, almost a handjob, angst (somehow) and comfort, mentions of murder, mentions of pregnancy, porn w plot, virginity loss, unprotected sex, p in v, fondling, rough sex, impregnation, bdsm (handcuffs), soft dom!wrio.
word count. 5,303.
note. my first time dabbling in smut… to whoever is reading this that somehow knows me irl, pls turn straight around ! you are referred to as “reader” by the way.
Tumblr media
romance schmomance. how did anyone expect wriothesley to allocate time in his schedule for a lover while properly running the fortress of meropide? his grace was perfectly content with teasing his two tsundere subordinates, who refused to face their feelings for each other. besides, love appeared too complicated of a matter, as evidenced by the prisoners he overheard lamenting on a day-to-day basis about their marital affairs and unsuccessful endeavors in flirting.
but sigewinne thought otherwise, pestering him recommending that he seek a partner because not only would it fulfill his social needs but also satisfy his sexual urges (he scrunched up his nose every time she made that point). frankly, all the duke needed was his right hand, some lotion, and a thirty-minute break of privacy.
…so what was a pair of eyes doing from the staircase to his office, staring incredulously at him fucking his cock into his curled fist during the thirty-minute break of privacy?
keyword: privacy, meaning no one was supposed to be in his office during this time!
a few minutes earlier…
“ah, ms. reader, right this way!”
an eager guard ushered you to an imposing set of metal doors to which your house back in mondstadt paled in comparison. as the guard, who appeared to be a rookie, fumbled with the keys to the administrator’s office, you turned your attention to the rest of the surroundings that seamlessly blended together due to the lack of decor. rusting pipes ran from the bottom up in austere grandeur, and warm lights were scattered across the stronghold, illuminating the faces of the few dozen or so prisoners wandering around the open space.
although the conditions weren’t all sunshine and rainbows (literally, since the fortress is hundreds of feet under the surface), serving time in the fortress of meropide was bearable enough to the point that some convicts continued living there even after their sentences were up. this was the piece of information that piqued your interest during extensive research into the nation of justice, as access to rehabilitative programs while incarcerated had reduced the crime rate there.
thus, there you stood, prepared to present the ultimate strategy for promoting bilateral relations to the administrator of fontaine’s correctional institution. in exchange for advice from monsieur wriothesley on how to reform mondstadt’s prison system, the two neighboring countries could collaborate on an event similar to that of the “neighboring nations congenial poetry gala” between mondstadt and liyue.
it made sense since both fontaine and mondstadt were renowned for their romanticism, and the only other thing you could offer from your hometown besides poetry and artistry was… wine, which you knew wouldn’t fly. no government wanted more drunkards bumbling down their streets than they already had.
finally, the guard pushed the doors open (not without almost popping a vein) and gestured for you to enter monsieur wriothesley’s office, and once you did, you averted your gaze to the spiraling set of stairs.
however, prior to making your presence known, strange… grunting noises from the upper floor sent a shiver down your spine and planted you firmly to the ground. rapidly, your mind swirled with a million possibilities of what the source could be. although the duke was allegedly benign, he was still a warden through and through. was he personally punishing someone for their misconduct?
it frankly sounded quite painful, and you were getting worried that you came in at a bad time. after all, you did arrive an hour earlier than scheduled.
…one peek couldn’t hurt, right?
then you’ll be able to determine whether or not he needed a minute.
curiosity killed the cat, and that cat was you. because after gingerly ascending the staircase and stopping to be able to peek just above the metal floor, you chanced upon a scene that not even your wildest dreams could conjure.
the black-haired duke’s coat was popped open, with the hem of his dress shirt stuffed between his lips to muffle groan after groan that flowed past them. for several long seconds, you couldn’t tear your eyes away from the scars running down his neck and heaving pectorals, gleaming in a slight sheen of sweat.
and when you did manage to tear your eyes away, they instantly flitted past his abdomen (which needed its own place in a museum) to the sight of wriothesley’s large—and you meant large—appendage thrusting desperately into his calloused hand between his gargantuan thighs. a bit of precum dribbled from the tip, trailing down his length only to be pushed back up by his fingers and creating a frothy ring near the head of his cock.
you had to stifle a gasp behind your clipboard, trying to process what the hell was happening. the prison administrator and his little friend definitely needed a minute, so you quickly swiveled around to give them just that—only for the sound of his chair screeching backward to freeze you in your tracks.
“who goes there?” his voice boomed throughout the office.
shit!
your heels weren’t doing you much of a favor as you bolted down the staircase, but the adrenaline coursing through your veins overrode every inconvenience to get you to the doorway as fast as possible. however, you didn’t have the strength to budge the doors open (what were they made of? tungsten!?), and before you could even blink, wriothesley had you trapped between the only way out and his bulky figure.
“you thought you could get away?” he snarled, grabbing you by the shoulder (with the hand that was just wrapped around his dick, mind you!) to twist you around and get a good look at your face. your clipboard clattered to the floor, and you nearly screamed when his cock—which was somehow more enraged than he was—prodded against your stomach, making your insides feel like they were doing backflips.
you tried your best not to look at… it… as you spoke up to defend yourself. “sir, it isn’t what it looks like—”
“i think it’s exactly what it looks like,” he interjected angrily, thick eyebrows furrowed above a pair of piercing blue eyes. “what? did one of your fellow inmates dare you to snoop on the warden for blackmail? how many coupons did they offer? hmm?”
“inmates? coupons?” now your eyebrows were furrowed. “monsieur, if you could please let me explain!”
it took a second for wriothesley to regain his senses, and after noticing your foreign attire and trembling form, he retreated at once. “archons, i…” he stroked his face with his hand and covered his eyes, letting out a shaky sigh. “i’m terribly sorry. i thought you were one of them.”
“them?”
he nodded dejectedly in response before dropping his hand to the side and meeting your eyes, but this time, it wasn’t with indignation. “yes, a group of ill-intentioned people recently formed in order to unmask my secrets…” he had to look away for a moment before continuing. “...one of them being what i do in my office during lunchtime.”
“...oh.”
“as for you…” over his broad chest, he crossed his arms that could crush watermelons with one flex (okay, maybe you were overexaggerating.) “how did you gain entry into my office? it should have been locked.”
you cleared your throat. “a guard let me in.” wriothesley parted his lips to question that, but you were already one step ahead. “he seemed new.”
the warden managed to put two and two together, and a sense of dread began consuming him from head to toe. “you’re… the envoy from mondstadt,” he realized, a taste in his mouth more bitter than the tea he oversteeped this morning. “i must say: you’re a bit early.”
you replied with a light shrug, “the cavalry is expeditious.”
“right. that’s… great.” he gave you a tight-lipped smile. “could… could you give me a minute? i would like to make myself presentable so that i can give you a proper introduction, and… again, i want to apologize for having you walk in on something so vulgar. i’ll be sure to compensate for it in any way possible.”
your original plan from the beginning was to give this man a minute, but… the longer you stood in his presence, the more aroused you felt. he was really handsome, standing many heads taller than you and practically oozing with sex appeal. the tidbits about his appearance that you heard through the grapevine in mondstadt couldn’t hold a candle to the real thing. watching him jerking off earlier, there was definitely a moment when you wanted to replace his hand with your cunt.
pause.
this might be the only opportunity for you to break away from the perfect image you were constantly upholding. throughout your adolescence and young adulthood, you had trained to become a professional in your field and garnered copious experience in diplomacy so that you could obtain a high-ranking position in government. this caused you to miss out on a lot of the joys in life, including sex. that was the first time you had seen a penis in the flesh.
“did you say any way possible?” you inquired.
“of course, i’m a reasonable man. i doubt i’ll be opposed to anything during today’s negotiations.”
after a moment of hesitation, you braced yourself for an eternity’s supply of humiliation and let your last thread of sanity snap in two. you fell to your knees right in front of his throbbing member, which was still as hard as a rock.
“...then you won’t be opposed to this, right?” you murmured. in a bold move, you leaned forward to press your cheek against the side of his cock, all while maintaining eye contact with him.
wriothesley sharply inhaled through his teeth, blood rushing to his face as he took a step back. “what… what are you…!?”
but he wasn’t dumb. he knew what you were intending. however, this felt more like you were doing a favor for him when he was supposed to be doing one for you.
and do one he shall.
in one frame, you were hunkered down on the floor in front of his grace, and in the next frame, you were being carried to the second floor of the office in his sinewy arms. you were in no danger of being dropped, but you clung onto his shirt regardless, squealing your head off and flailing your legs like a feral animal, which only added to wriothesley’s amusement.
“are you regretting your decision?” he asked, his lips curled into a smug smile. “i can always stop. just say the word.”
your heart was racing at a mile a minute as he kicked a coffee table out of the way and plopped you onto the couch. when he crouched between your legs, a sheepish you batted his greedy hands away and hurriedly shoved your thighs together. “wait, i… this is escalating way too fast!” you quavered. “are we about to…” do the devil’s tango? the pickle in the jar? the train into the tunnel!?
a gruff chuckle rumbled from his chest. “you were the one who initiated it,” wriothesley pointed out with a wolfish grin. “i’m just finishing what you started, mondstadter.”
“but i just wanted to help you with your… ‘problem’!” you shot back, cheeks rivaling the red of a tomato. “why am i suddenly on the receiving end!?”
“ah, that’s where you’re wrong, because this will help me with my problem,” the duke replied, tugging your pants down your hips to reveal your drenched undergarment. you instantly convulsed and buckled your knees as he pressed his thick fingers against your clothed pussy, and when he drew them back, a string of wetness extended from your underwear to his fingertips.
remember when wriothesley convinced himself that all he needed was self-love?
fuck that.
“your grace!” you cried out as he dove forward and, with his hands anchoring your thighs, began ravaging your clit through the fabric, his tongue swirling and swiping against it ruthlessly. you had not even a millisecond to breathe as your vision blurred from tears of unmitigated satisfaction. with little strength, you reached out to wrench at his dark locks of hair, which only spurred him on further to attack your quivering folds.
archons almighty, what would it feel like if he—
as if he was reading your mind, wriothesley peeled your panties to the side, and the roughness of his tongue along with his pointer finger sliding in sent your body into another realm of pleasure. if accidentally smacking the back of your head against the couch’s gilded crest rail wasn’t the reason you saw stars just now, then it undoubtedly had to be the duke’s skillful ministrations.
“you’re so responsive,” wriothesley murmured, his hot breath deliciously fanning your skin. you were going crazy from his nose nudging against your sensitive bud as he flattened his tongue to completely coat each and every taste bud with your essence, and his digit continued to slide in and out at an inhumane speed, coaxing more and more of your whines and moans. “fuck, and your slut pussy is taking my finger so well. how many people have gotten the chance to see this pretty view?”
pretty view? you mentally scoffed while struggling to keep your wits about. says him! not every day did a tall, dark, and handsome man lap at your arousal like it was his last meal! you questioned how he could even breathe down there.
“no, i… j-just… just you…” you managed between labored gulps of air, your cheeks flushed of color. “i… i’ve never… d-done this… before.”
in the midst of leaving a bite mark on the side of your thigh, wriothesley abruptly extricated his finger, which made your pulsating hole very unhappy. “are you saying this is your first time?” he asked in disbelief.
you nodded timidly. when he didn’t respond right away, you grew worried that he got turned off by your admission, but weirdly enough, he snickered.
“looks like we’re in the same boat,” wriothesley stated to your bafflement. having withdrawn his finger, he brought it to his mouth and sucked it clean of your fluids before returning to lightly thumb your clit using circular motions. you had to scoot away because how else were you going to speak clearly with him doing that!?
“y-you’re a virgin!?” you spluttered, ogling down at this man like he had just grown a horn on top of his head.
“way to rub it in,” he jeered at you in a mocking tone. “yes, i’m a virgin. what’s so surprising?”
“because… you’re you!” you stressed. “have you seen yourself in the mirror? it’s a crime for you to look like a sex god without having had sex!”
once again, wriothesley found himself enlivened by your visceral reactions. when an advisor informed him of a diplomat’s advent this week, the warden was ready to be bored to tears by another mundane businessperson. and could you blame him? a few weeks ago, an ambassador hailing from sumeru went on and on about an invention that they wanted to promote to the fortress of meropide’s inhabitants.
…that invention boasted a 41% success rate.
so imagine wriothesley’s gaping jaw when, the moment you bent your knees and voiced your offer, all of his expectations were chucked out of the window.
“‘crime’?” he echoed, followed by a husky chuckle. “i see what you did there. how does it feel to be in love with a criminal?”
a frown weighed down the corners of your lips. “hold on. i may or may not be succumbing to a criminal, but who’s saying i’m in love with one?”
“your body is telling me everything i need to know,” rizzley wriothesley crooned as he rested the side of his head against your thigh. “well, except for your name.”
“…reader,” you answered breathily. “my name is reader.”
“reader.” he nodded in approval. “well, reader, let me show you how we do it in fontaine.”
with newfound vigor, wriothesley mounted the couch so that he was now towering over you and interlocked his hands with yours, pressing them into the vermillion back cushions on either side of your head. as if he was communicating to you that you could no longer escape his advances, even if they became too much.
for some time, he gazed intensely at your blushing face, committing each detail to memory, before he bent down and connected his lips to yours. you tentatively reciprocated his tender kisses, moving your mouth in ways that were unfamiliar yet exhilarating, and shutting your eyes slipped the ground away from your feet and made you feel like you were floating. he let go of one hand to tuck a few loose strands of hair behind your ear, which grew into him absentmindedly caressing your cheek like you were made of glass. your neck tickled. your ear burned. every single touch felt like fire on your skin. every kiss was slowly melting your body into mush, melding your body with his. there was no longer a distinction between where you ended and where he began.
after you parted your lips to impart the permission wriothesley’s tongue frenziedly sought, it wasn’t long before the kiss spiraled into a battle for dominance—a battle you lost in the blink of an eye. you could taste remnants of yourself on his tongue from his previous indulgences, which successfully heightened how aroused you were tenfold. your free hand crept up and started kneading your breast through your blouse, your moans swallowed by wriothesley’s mouth.
when he noticed you began touching yourself, he pulled away to your dismay.
he really liked how you craned your neck toward him at the very end of the kiss when he disentangled from you, as though his and your pairs of lips were opposite ends of a magnet. he liked seeing you craving more.
he didn’t like that you were getting ahead of yourself.
“nuh-uh, love,” he whispered, pulling your wrist to the side. “that’s my job.”
wriothesley tugged the hem of your blouse up to expose your bra, and he whistled at the sight. “beige?” he just had to point out with a smirk, bearing a canine. “you really know how to rile me up.”
you internally facepalmed at morning you’s choice of wardrobe. “i was walking into this expecting to have a proper conversation, not to get laid.”
he cocked an eyebrow and suddenly went into business mode. “what was your proposition anyway?”
you couldn’t help but laugh out loud before grasping his large hand and placing it on your chest. “are we really about to do our meeting now?” you chided him.
“you and i are already ‘meeting’ in every sense of the word.”
an affectionate smile broke through your face, and you tugged the man forward by his red tie. “come here, you big hunk.”
wriothesley mirrored your warmth and captured your lips in a searing kiss before traveling down to pepper smooches on your neck and suckle along your collarbone, his teeth the paintbrush and your skin the canvas. he slithered his fingers into the confines of your bra and pinched your nipples to elicit more r-rated sounds from your mouth, and in the corner of your low-lidded eyes, you became very conscious of the reality that his dick would twitch every time you moaned.
anemo archon, forgive me for mine own sins.
“reader,” he gasped. he hunched forward and almost smothered you with his chest as you began to stroke his cock, a bolt out of the blue. you weren’t expecting him to display such a visceral reaction, so you halted at the base of his manhood (which your hand couldn’t even fully wrap around…)
“did i do something wrong?”
“no, not at all,” he affirmed strongly. “i think the problem…”
…was that the sensation of your touch felt astonishingly different to him greasing the pole. it was a shuddering ecstasy that sprinted along his body and unlocked the carnal desires he had kept stowed away.
the key to his dick heart was supposed to have been eternally lost at sea. that was something he was sure of. that was something every person who tried to get close to him was sure of. so he ignored sigewinne’s recommendations, he ignored the rumors of his impotence among the prisoners, and he tried to ignore the hot flashes that jolted him awake in the dead of night, reminding him again that he had always been devoid of love since the start.
but then you came prancing into his office, swinging that key around your finger.
wriothesley’s breathing became shallow, and he pressed his lips firmly into a thin, white line as he stared down at you. how were you shining so splendidly in contrast to the dull lights of his office? how did your frowning lips still look so kissable? how were you looking at him like you were seeing right through him?
he didn’t even know you.
was he deluding himself?
did sigewinne spike his tea?
should he keep going?
what if he hurt you?
a gentle tapping on his forearm hauled wriothesley out of his rumination. he realized he was sweating a lot.
“now i’m sure i did something wrong,” you said worriedly.
wriothesley swallowed harshly before shaking his head, his tufted black hair swaying from side to side. “no… the problem is that… i don’t think i can hold back.”
“then what are you waiting for?” you deadpanned. “are you into blue balling?”
wriothesley blinked. “uh, not necessarily…”
“then let’s do it on your table.”
“reader…” wriothesley covered his blushing face with the back of his hand. “has anyone told you how… forward you can be?”
a giggle bubbled from your throat. “i’m pretty sure my field requires me to be forward. is it a turn-off?”
“i couldn’t be happier,” he reassured you gladly, and you were soon swept up into another bridal carry. “i will warn you though. if you make a mess of my documents, there will be punishment.”
you smiled. “looking forward to it.” (hopefully, wriothesley didn’t notice he was already going to need new seat cushions after this.)
wriothesley set you down onto his hardwood table, your back toward him, and had you prop one leg up onto the edge, putting your pussy on full display for his enjoyment. he watched in a hypnotic trance as your fluids dripped like a leaking faucet, and he wanted nothing more than to plug you up and fill your needy cunt to the brim. the warden soaked his fingers in your juices to lather them over his shaft, but while he had one hand gripping your hip and the other lining his member up with your entrance, his muscles stiffened. you peeked at him from over your shoulder.
“blue balling bastard!” you almost shouted, but he appeared too distraught to be badgered.
“i don’t have a condom,” wriothesley moaned, falling forward and smacking his forehead against your shoulder. for the first time in a long time, he really wanted to cry. “i would have to walk over to the infirmary and grab one for us, but—”
“—i can’t wait much longer,” you two finished in tandem breathlessly, eyes fixed upon each other. in a matter of seconds, this became a pressing matter that left you and wriothesley in deep contemplation. two strangers—total virgins at that—were literally about to raw dog it. honestly, your parents would be bouncing off the walls over this since they always lamented their graying hairs yet shortage of grandchildren.
but wriothesley… you knew a man of his status was much too preoccupied with handling prison affairs as opposed to prison "affairs". although the iudex of fontaine would be anyone’s first thought at the word “justice”, the administrator of the fortress of meropide delivered his own fair share of justice to maintain order when fights broke out in corridors, to overlook the production of gardemeks, and to protect the peace he had fostered in this very structure.
these things were what made you hurriedly request an audience with wriothesley in the first place. his impressive accomplishments as the new leader of the stronghold were what brought the you from mondstadt to the him in fontaine. however, you now found yourself in a sticky situation that would burden wriothesley further if you two took this risk. a child between you and him… that hadn’t been in your agenda.
plus, the steambird would really get a hoot out of this. “breaking news: mondstadt ambassador walked into the fortress of meropide and walked out with a baby lump.”
so, you made up your mind.
“wrio—”
“will you let me come inside of you, reader?” he whispered against the shell of your ear, making your heart drop to the pit of your stomach. your vaginal walls automatically clenched around nothingness at the thought as you gasped and gaped back at him in bewilderment.
“what…? are you sure!?”
wriothesley nodded. “i-i promise, reader, to be a loving partner to you and devoted father to our child,” he choked out, his voice thick with emotion. “i’ve dreamt of having kids with the person i cherish so that they can grow up in a household where they feel safe, but… my greatest fear in life is becoming the monster that… th-that my foster parents were to me and my adoptive siblings.” his face went white. he could feel himself on the verge of vomiting, which he swore he had rooted out long ago. the scars on his body had never felt more painful. “i know that that belief is unfounded, but… i’ve been a violent person since i was a teenager. since the day that i… i killed them.”
“so if you do not wish to bear a child with a person like me, i understand,” wriothesley avowed, his eyes turned down in shame. “i can find other means to make you feel good, and i’ll just… go to the restroom to finish my business.”
you were finally learning about the warden's haunting backstory, sealed behind his assertive exterior. immediately, tears sprung to the corners of your eyes. you twisted your torso to cup his face with shaking hands and look him square in the face.
“wriothesley… you are so much more than your past,” you insisted earnestly. “are you not aware of how incredible of a person you are? of how many lives you have changed for the better? you couldn’t change the past, so you made it your life mission to change the future of every person who’s living and breathing in this stronghold right now. you converted your suffering into something that led to the liberation of many others’.” you gave him a wobbly smile through the tears streaming down your cheeks like waterfalls. “that’s why i wanted to meet you, wrio. i wanted to meet the man behind the operations, behind the smiles on these prisoners’ faces. so please… don’t ever think badly of yourself.”
as the color returned to wriothesley’s cheeks, the duke couldn’t look away from the eyes that sparkled up at him so brilliantly. it was mesmerizing. his heart had never felt this full, and he wanted it to be as close to yours as possible. without missing a beat, his arms wrapped around your body, lightly brushing against your nipples in the process and causing them to harden on contact. he pressed his entire frontside against your back, and you could clearly feel his heart pounding wildly against his ribcage (and his dick saying hi from between your thighs).
“you’re so good to me, reader,” wriothesley mumbled. “what did i do to deserve this?”
you laughed and caressed the side of his head. “i just told you, idiot.”
his signature smirk returned in all of its glory, and he trailed his hands down to rest on your hips. “hold onto something.”
“what? agh!”
your body lurched forward once wriothesley drove his cock into your sopping heat, every inch dragging along your walls until he reached your cervix and his pelvic bone was right against your ass. a guttural moan escaped as he remained perfectly motionless, reveling in the feeling of your pussy rippling along his length, and you clamped a hand over your mouth to mask the embarrassing noises seeping through. the pain was unexpectedly minimal, but now you had to deal with this enormous object penetrating you to your very core. and not a moment passed before he started pushing in and out of you, squelching noises rebounding off the metal surroundings as your bated breath was yanked from your throat. throughout wriothesley’s grunts of exertion, a moan poured past your lips at each thrust, his balls slapping against your puffy lips and the table legs screeching in reply. his hands slid up to mercilessly flick your nipples with his thumbs at a rate that engendered tightening sensations to build up inside of your lower abdomen.
“wrio!” you exclaimed, writhing in ecstasy. you didn’t think you could handle the pert beads on your chest being fondled in unison with him pistoning your cunt from the back for another minute. “wr-wrio…! hnngh… ah! i feel so w-weird… ah! nngh…!”
“it’s a good weird, yeah?” growled wriothesley amid nibbling on your earlobe. “i can tell by the way your womb is descending to meet my cock, just begging for my seed. and that’s exactly what i’ll give you.”
“nngh, i… i’m… a-agh!” you pathetically blubbered. a stream of saliva ran from the corner of your lips as he pounded into your tight channel with savage intensity, the whites of your glazed eyes beginning to show. “i-i think i’m gonna c-come…!”
“shit…” he rasped, noticing the telltale signs of an orgasm building up in both of you. “me, too…” he roughly grabbed your chin, fingers digging slightly into flesh, so that he could witness your expression contorting with bliss as you reached your cusp. “i want you to take every drop of my cum, reader. every fucking drop until nothing but my essence flows from your depraved hole.”
you nodded and pursed your lips, overwhelmed by the persistent and passionate onslaught on your pussy that was utterly molded into the shape of his velvet-wrapped steel. “yes, p-please…! wrio, please shoot it inside of me!”
finally, wriothesley bit down on your shoulder and slammed home into your depths, burying himself inside of your womanhood while releasing thick ropes of semen. your muscles convulsed and clamped down onto his cock with a vice, milking it until he had emptied his balls completely. the light humming of the industrial fan above commingled with the heavy panting of the two bodies that have become one, drunk on the languid atmosphere.
“you’re so obedient,” he cooed, nudging aside a lock of hair that was clinging to your sweaty forehead, whereas you were still reeling from wave after wave of endorphins. as you endeavored to muster the strength to respond, wriothesley glanced down at his files freshly marinating in your juices. “well, for the most part,” he added. “what did i say about my documents?”
“i…” you scowled and snapped back at him haughtily, “i wasn’t trying to ruin them!”
his mellow chuckle resonated in your ears, and in the ensuing seconds, the sound of clinking metal pivoted your attention.
“well, you can’t argue that they’re illegible now,” he said, effortlessly restraining your wrists in handcuffs from archons knew where. you also came to the startling realization that his member hadn’t softened one bit since he came within your spongy walls. “and as the duke of the fortress of meropide, i must carry out punishment where i see fit.”
“…lord barbatos.”
“haha, i love you, too.”
(several days later, charlotte got her big paycheck after spotting another “meeting” between you and wriothesley behind café lutece.)

Mora makes Teyvat go round
Self-Aware! BSD x SAGAU Imposter crossover
Self-Aware! Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald x GN! Reader
Tumblr media
Description: Ningguang and Pantalone are proud of being of Creator's good side. With power of mora and buisnesses, they will gain more strength, gaining even more favours from Creator to their nations.
Unfortunately, mora is low due to attacks on caravans.
But, this new possible partner, who wants to offer organise trades between nations, peak their interest.
Warning: OOC. English is my second language. Slight mutilation (non-descriptive). Dehumanisation (Reader called 'it'.
______
Mora is stability.
Mora is power.
Mora is respect.
People need mora to get food, clothes, houses. Everything.
People need mora to build shrines for Creator.
Ningguang and Pantalone use mora to give Creator respect and happiness.
______
Pantalone's eyes twitched.
Another ship was sailed, another caravan was attacked.
And nothing can be done about it.
Dottore tried. And look, where he is now? Went completely mad, tried to kill Creator, and now is locked in a cell.
It became another hit on Snezhnaya's reputation in the eyes of other nations.
And in the eyes of Creator.
Their Holiness, after Dirty Imposter disappeared, were wrecked with sorrow.
Each day, nations brought gifts to the ivory throne.
Each day, people were searching for an Imposter.
Both of these actions were focused on bringing back Creator's smile.
And both actions required mora.
Mora, that Snezhnaya start becoming low.
Pantalone breathe in.
The situation was bad.
Yes, he has enough mora to spoil Creator for the next hundreds of years.
Yet, in this situation, he needs more mora.
Much more.
Pantalone looked at the pile of open letters he had on his table. Offers, coming from different groups. Travelers, mercenary, wanderers.
All of them offered their help in moving goods from nation to nation.
All of them failed.
Pantalone took another unopened letter.
He read through it.
Another offer. And he has no other choice, except it.
__________
Ningguang read through the contract one more time. It was written on a fancy paper with an ornament around the edges. Pantalone, who was sitting next to her, read through his own contract.
Pantalone spoke, looking at possible businesses partner above glasses.
"I must say, Mister Fitzgerald, it's quite an interesting offer."
Blonde businessman smiles politely.
Pantalone cast an interested gaze on the gems, that were laying in the middle of the table.
Gems looked stunning. They looked almost perfect, they varied in sizes.
"Are you sure, that you could transport all the goods safely? You are aware of the situation, right?"
Fitzgerald took one of the gems.
"Mister Pantalone, Miss Ningguang, I assure you, My Team and I are more than capable of doing it. As you can see."
Fitzgerald pointed at the gems. "We have this gems here. From Fontaine. And we did a great job transporting them."
Pantalone and Ningguang looked at each other. Everyone said that. Everyone failed. Ningguang and Pantalone don't have any other choice.
Ningguang spoke.
"True. Let's try to do it. We spent a lot of mora on the Imposter Hunt. All these rewards and mercenaries."
Pantalone chuckled.
"But it was worth it. I even got a precious relic from it."
There were envy in Ningguang's eyes. She also has a little souvenir from the Hunt. Yet, in comparison to Pantalone's, her trophy was simpler.
"Anyway, It's a deal, Mr Fitzgerald."
Both contracts were signed.
Francis broke a tree trunk, when he left Liyue.
Pantalone lost a lot of jewelry because of it.
_______
The first trade was from Liyue to Mondstadt.
If someone saw a new trade caravan, they would think, that they have gone mad.
First, instead of a horse or ox, a white tiger was (somehow) harnessed to the cart. Atsushi chuffed from time to time, but did his job perfectly.
Fitzgerald was walking beside white tiger, looking around. He spoke out loud.
"Look, Weretiger boy, a dangerous monster."
Francis points at the hydro slime, that was more interested in berries, then caravan.
Meanwhile, Francis activated his ability.
"This beast can be defeated only with 100000000 mora punch. Mister Pantalone and Miss Ningguang were so generous, agreeing to give away all their mora, all their possessions to us, right?"
Atsushi scoffed.
Fitzgerald's punch left just a few hydro droplets from the slime.
Somewhere in Snezhnaya, in one of Pantalone's safes, 100000000 disappeared.
"We are saved... Oh, no! Another one!" theatrically gasped Fitzgerald, pointing at lizard, that was staring at the cart.
"This one is more deadly! I must double the effort!"
When the caravan arrived at Mondstadt (Atsushi turned back before someone could notice his tiger form), Ningguang's and Pantalone's safes became more spacious. And Teyvat wildlife get some damage.
______
Fitzgerald's plan was risky, to tell the truth. According to you and books Jouno and others have brought from Teyvat, there was only one language in Teyvat. At least, the only official language. There was no information, if other languages existed. But Francis decided to take this risk.
With some help from Poe, Natsume, Rimbaud and Fyodor, Fitzgerald created an 'ornament'. A synthetic language, that was made from mix of English, French and Russian alphabet and grammar. With Poe's writing, new words looked like an ornament.
The ornament, that proclaims, that person, who sigh the contract, will give away all their money and possessions to Fitzgerald.
And he has a nice little ability to use with new finance help.
_________
Francis stared at what was before him.
He proved, that he can be trusted. And, his businesses 'partners' show them, what their trophy's from the Imposter Hunt were.
_____
Ningguang had four bloodied canines....
****
Dirty Sinner were put in stocks in the middle of Liyue's Harbor. It looked half dead.
It wasn't enough. Tommorow it will be executed. It still have too much dignity.
Rocks, dirt, rotten fruits, manure...
Everything were thrown in Imposter.
It wasn't enough.
Ningguang stare at Imposter.
Its mouth were in blisters.
Its teeth were intact...
A dagger and her fingers weren't the best instruments for a dental practice.
But, Ningguang managed.
*****
And Pantalone had two pinkie fingers in the jar....
*****
It screamed, when its injured feet made contact with snow. Pantalone grinned.
He got a great trophy.
First one, who did it.
Soon, Imposter will lose even more.
Acolytes needs mementos from their great victory.
_______
Fitzgerald saw the mountains of gifts. Gifts for that beast, who ordered to hunt after his treasure.
And he, Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, must be the one, who delivered it.
Francis can't stay here. In Teyvat.
He needs some real world.
He hopped, that he would reached Lowecraft 'waiting' place, before the sunrise.
_______
Fitzgerald stumbled from the portal, back to their world. He wasn't looking, where he was going. He needs to see you. To make sure, that you aren't in pain.
"What have you learned about, Fitzgerald?" Yosano's voice was sympathetic.
Francis looked at her. She was waiting for his answer.
She was the only one, who knew everything about your injuries.
Before that night, Fitzgerald only knew about burns.
He finally found his voice.
"Teeth... Toes..."
His voice was muffled, when Yosano hugged him, pressing his face to her shoulder.
She let him cry.
________
Pantalone was happy. Fitzgerald did a great job. Trades between nations slowly start anew.
Slowly, mire mora will come to Snezhnaya and his vault. And he will spend it to make Creator happy.
Suddenly, his mansion starts shaking.
The next moment, Pantalone was sitting on the Shezhnaya's snow. His home was nowhere in sight.
_______
In Guyun Stone Forest some of the stone spears, that Morax threw during Archon War, collapsed. Fitzgerald was sure, that crystalfly was a dangerous predator.
________
Ningguang grabbed the table, trying to stay on her feet. She was having a conversation with other Qixing, discussing, what other things they could trade with other nations, to use new mora on gifts for Creator, when half of the pillars in Guyun Stone Forest collapsed. Before anyone could react, a second earthquake came, destroying the rest of the stone pillars.
Outside, people of Liyue saw, how Jade chamber disappeared right before the earthquake.
______
Fitzgerald saw a second crystalfly.
______
Both Ningguang and Pantalone have a headache.
They have lost their houses. And, somehow, almost all mora they owned. There were no sighs of treasure horders or weasel thieves. Both Ningguang and Pantalone knew, how to be careful with spending mora.
Yet, both now have one thousand mora each.
The knock on the door made Pantalone and Ningguang turned their heads towards the exit.
Baisi noticeably flinched. She looked terrified.
"We finished looking through taxes declarations... And..."
Baisi put the documents on the table and left.
In a few moments, two loud shouts were heard.
"WHAT DOES IT MEAN, THAT HALF OF TEYVAT POPULATION BECAME BROKE?!"
______
Spa was quiet. Spa was good.
And this spa was completely yours and Fitzgerald's for today.
Fitzgerald announced, earlier today, that you two will have a self-care day. And 'drag' you here.
You had some sweets prepared for you.p
"Now, try this, Treasure" Fitzgerald put a sweet roll right to your lips. You took a generous bite.
Francis secretly smiles.
All your teeth were intact.
He cast a quick glance to your feet.
Currently, you two enjoyed foot massage.
Francis smiles. Your pinkies were here.
He squeezed your hand.
And promised to himself, to keep you safe and sound. And make sure, that no one will even think about taking something from you as a trophy.
____
Bonus
You raise an eyebrow, looking at all the mora Mark, Steinbeck, Dazai, Anglo, Fyodor and Sigma brought in the house.
You took one of the coins. It glimmered in daylight.
Without looking away from the coin, you asked.
"Okay, I will ask. How?"
Twain looked pleased with himself.
"We rob one of the banks, that belonged to that one, in glasses."
Steinbeck added.
"Fitzgerald won't be the only one, who could rob Mr Pants."
Dazai looked extremely proud.
"Ango and I are scumming people. We put some fake donation boxes. People are glad to spare some mora."
Ango, who was counting mora coins, spoke carefully. He was looking at you, observing your reaction.
"We tell everyone, that this mora will be used for a new shrine."
You didn't need an effort to not flinch. You spent enough time with Hawthorne to stop flinching every time the topic of religion came up.
Fyodor spoke next.
"And Sigma and I created a casino. Cards, some machines with toys for kids. Some prizes are unique and appealing to many. And almost impossible to win. But, as you know, everyone wants to play again."
Sigma shrugged.
"The prizes for everyone were my idea."
You dropped the coin back to the pile. Your mouth moved, before you can think.
"It reminds me of an anecdote. Want to hear it? A funny short story?"
Everyone immediately perked up. They took it as a sign of your recovery. It was good, that you start recalling something funny.
"Okay, [Y/N], we are ready for the story!" Naomi pretend to be impatient.
Well, there is no going back. You cleared your throat and started.
"One day, American man, Japanese man and Russian man decided to have a competition and see, who will make cat eat mustard by its own violation. American man immediately grabbed a jar and force mustard down cat's throat."
"Hey, that's violence!" Russian man objects. “You have failed!”
A Japanese man spread mustard between two pieces of fish and wrapped it in bacon.
“Hey, that's a hoax!” Russian man objects. “You have failed!”
“Well, your turn!” Japanese man and the American man grin.
Russian man, without thinking twice, takes the jar and smears mustard under the cat’s tail. It, of course, immediately starts to lick mustard, trying to get it off. Cat licks and licks, even though she is yowling.
“Do you see that?!” - Russian man rejoices “Voluntarily and with a song!”
"You have an interesting taste in jokes, Myshonok." corners of Fyodor lips slightly raised up. On the background, Nikolai and Pushkin were howling with laughter.
Actually, everyone was at least smirking. Even Natsume look a little bit amused.
Francis scoffed.
He was making sure, that Ningguang and Pantalone will rot in slums.
And, it was a good thing, that no one would be able to help them.

Water Tasting | Neuvillette x Reader
This was a joke between my friend and I, but seeing as how I've entered my Neuvillette obsession phase, I might as well throw out at least one fic for him. Enjoy~
Word count: 832 Unedited; please don't mind <3
Tumblr media
"I'm sorry I came here so late. I didn't intend to get lost." You said with a slight dry chuckle. Neuvillette sent a small smile your way, waving his hand a little.
"Not at all, I said my doors were open to you at any time of the day. Besides, I'm also taking a bit of a break, myself. So it's quite perfect."
You followed Neuvillette further into his office and found a nice seat for you, while the long-haired man looked over at you.
"Are you thirsty? I have a wide array of beverages you may like." You eyes lit up and you sent him a smile, along with a nod.
"Oh yes! I'm absolutely parched."
"You're in luck." The chief justice walked over to a large cabinet and opened the doors, revealing many fancy bottles, decorated with beautiful text and adorned with gems. Honestly, you weren't even sure you wanted to drink such expensive looking beverages.
"This one is from Mondstadt, you've been there, yes? It's quite the popular one. I wouldn't say my favorite, but I do like to indulge every now and then." You were certainly familiar with the variety of drinks offered in Mondstadt, so you figured it was akin to dandelion wine. The bottle had the colors of Mondstadt and even had a small symbol. You couldn't make out the writing from where you sat, but the bottle, itself, was absolutely beautiful.
"Oh, like dandelion wine, right? I've had it before, it's great."
"No, it's not wine. What gave you that idea?" He asked, which confused you, honestly.
"Well you mentioned it was popular in Mondstadt... they're known for their dandelion wine..." you elaborated but Neuvillette shook his head. Without hesitation. Maybe he didn't like alcohol? You knew a guy like that- a certain tycoon.
"Oh, so it's more like a juice. I know their-"
"No, it's water."
What...?
The long silence hung in the air as the two of you stared at one another. You really weren't sure what to say to that, but the awkward silence was getting to you.
"Like... triple digit water? It's not their famous spring vale holy water right?" Knowing how that water was bottled, you'd feel awful knowing Neuvillette fell for such a scam. However, much to your delight, he shook his head.
"Anyway," he reached for another bottle, one that looked like it brandished Liyue's design and markings. "This one is from Liyue and I heard even their own Archon was quite in favor of it. I, myself, have enjoyed it every now and then but it's not my favorite."
"Is... is that water too?" You asked, making Neuvillette give you a sweet smile and a nod. You only returned the nod as you realized... all of those bottles on the shelf were water. Just water. Unflavored, plain water.
"This one, however, is my favorite. It's a brand from Snezhnaya and it's best served chilled." You almost laughed at his words but buried it deep, deep down.
There was something so innocent and sweet about his fascination with different brands of water. The passion in his voice just brought a smile to your face and somehow the awkwardness of the situation lifted as he got into the other various bottles, claiming the one from Inazuma did seem to have a sweeter scent and flavor to it and was one of the more comforting drinks in his collection.
You found yourself getting lost in his voice as he kept going on and on about the different varieties of waters from all over Teyvat. He claimed there were still a great many he hadn't tried as he doesn't have the chance to leave Fontaine with his position being so high up in the court.
"Well? Is there one that beckons you? Or are you unhappy with the selection?" Neuvillette asked with a slight tinge of disappointment in his tone. Maybe even a hint of shyness.
"No, that's not it! I was just expecting different and you surprised me." You assured him, waving your hands a little.
"Oh? What were you expecting?"
"Like Fonta or something."
"No, we don't drink that garbage here." Ok, now you had to laugh. You threw your head back as the fit of giggles finally escaped your system before you calmed yourself. Neuvillette just stood by, unsure of what could possibly make you laugh like that.
"I'll take your favorite then. We can enjoy it together." His confusion melted into a smile and he nodded, grabbing the Snezhnayan water and closing the cabinet. He walked over to you with two- what you would call chalices- and poured you a generous amount. He sat down across from you and you lifted the cup to your lips.
Taking a small sip, the cold water rushed across your tongue and cooled down your entire mouth. Water was water, but there... was indeed an interesting flavor behind this one.
Maybe Neuvillette had a point- water had flavor. This one did anyway.

noticed this similarity between capitano and the blazegem inscription
so I was re-watching the cutscene in the natlan archon quest because the Genshin Impact youtube channel posted it last night, and I noticed something:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had just played Act II of the Children of Echoes-focused story quest before rewatching the cutscene, and the symbol on Capitano's chest jumped out at me given the similar shape to Tlazolli's Blazegem Inscription in the screenshot on the right.
Some light speculation under the cut:
An important caveat: the symbol on Capitano's chest and the Blazegem Inscription are mirror images, they are not exact copies. It's a subtle difference, but you can see it if you look at the way the loops fold over each other.
What could this mean? Full disclosure, no I have not finished every world quest and explored all of Natlan yet lol. It's possible I am missing some really damning evidence for what this could mean, but I'll go off of what I've completed so far. The Blazegem Inscription is made with the same techniques used for Ancient Name forging, though from my understanding it isn't an Ancient Name in and of itself. It's draw is it's ability to resist erosion and preserve what's engraved on it throughout time.
So why is a similar symbol on Capitano's person? There's been some speculation that Capitano has more direct ties to Natlan, and to be honest I was pretty skeptical of those theories until the cutscene with Mavuika. Capitano talks about a couple of things that seem oddly specific and, if I may, personal about Natlan: the oath made five centuries ago, the ley lines destined for ruin, Mavuika's plan (also made 500 years ago), and Natlan's "rules." And Mavuika concurs: "But it sounds like this is about more than the Tsaritsa."
I have not touched a lot of world quests that deal with Xbalanque, but I understand that as the first Pyron Archon he is the one who fashioned Natlan's "rules" that allow for humans to ascend as Archons. Maybe it's not weird for Capitano to have some understanding of that, but it still strikes me as odd given everything else he seems to know.
Another small observation is that almost every Fatui harbinger we've dealt with has had some kind of personal connection to the region we encounter them in. Not so much for Childe or Signora in Liyue (Pantalone arc in Liyue DLC when), or Signora in Inazuma and Scaramouche in Sumeru, but there is precedent in Signora appearing in Mondstadt, Scaramouche in Inazuma, Dottore in Sumeru, and both Arlecchino and hints of Sandrone in Fontaine (Arlecchino's crimson moon dynasty origins not withstanding). All of this yapping is to say, Capitano's evidently otherworldly and uncanny qualities aside, he may have more direct ties to Teyvat and to Natlan specifically.
And another thing - why is Olorun from the Masters of the Night Wind collaborating with him?

You ever wonder why only sheznaya seems to have any kind of diplomatic core? Like we rarely see or hear of any of the other governments interacting in any official capacity. At least that I've heard of.
that is a good question actually
from a lore presepective? i think this stems mostly from the fact all nations have wildly different types of governance. snezhnaya seems to run under the different fatui harbingers, who all answer to the tsaritsa. they have bankers and mayors in their group, and they live in a difficult environment (plus they have traditional non-morally-white organization Goals, and so need to have Reach on all nations), so it would make sense for them to reach out and seek cooperation. assuming you want to buy the idea that they have intentions beyond Fatui Plans for having diplomats, of course. it's also perfectly likely for it all to be a poorly-disguised cover for the gnosis hunt lore-wise as well.
liyue is the closest to them i think, in that it runs under the qixing which used to run under (or parallel to?) rex lapis. now that it's just the qixing, and they're the trade center for teyvat, it makes sense why you'd see relatively prosperous diplomatic relationships with snezhnaya there - but also since they're a bountiful land, they've no need to send out diplomats. besides, there's the fact that the only seemingly functional land trading road in the game is between liyue and mondstadt, who,
are currently without their de jure leader, and jean is mostly just holding the fort till vakra returns. the knights can barely keep monstadt in check so it wouldn't make sense for them to need foreign relations when all they probably need can be obtained from World Trade Hub next door (liyue). this might change with dornman port tho
fontaine also seems to funcition like a more recognizable government, but they also seem so self-suficient (and self-absorbed) to have any need for diplomats. again, they also have a very clear trade route with sumeru in place (speaking of, who the fuck runs sumeru? the akademiya?) sumeru also has clearly established trade routes, and if they are run by the akademiya, are probably too absorbed with research to bother with foreign relationships. everyone comes to study there anyway, diplomats or no, and they send their researchers out to all nations.
inazuma was literally closed until less than a year ago. allegedly. inazuma is, also, the only other one you'll see trying for foreign relationships and diplomatic plays. that's the whole reason why ayaka and ayato were there on the fontinalia festival. so i guess, at the end of the day, the only reason why inazuma doesn't have a diplomatic core the same way snezhnaya does is bc they were literally closed until very recently.
and natlan seems to be closed as well, so we'll have to see.
also, were there any fatui diplomats in fontaine and sumeru? as in, under that pretense? bc we know the ones in mondstadt were there to sus out barbatos, the ones in liyue were there to sus out morax, and the ones in inazuma (which i wouldn't even know if they counted as diplomats) were there to give watatsumi delusions (and yoink the gnosis. i can't remember how signora came into all of this tbh). as far as i recall, there were no 'diplomats' in sumeru, i don't think dottore arrived under that pretense. if he did, we know it was to get scara. and in fontaine- all fatui in fontaine were just house of the hearth members, whom i don't think qualify as diplomats. there might've been 'diplomats' in other world quests, but i can't remember right now. i also can't remember why tf childe was in fontaine to begin with ngl
TL;DR: from a lore perspective, i don't have an answer and it's an interesting question and whatever ideas i have are long as fuck. from a non-lore perspective, this is probably just bc the fatui are the scheeming antagonists out on a hunt for one specific gizmo present in each nation, and so they need spies and information networks and subterfuge n shit. like i'm fairly certain that's the only reason why they seem to be the only ones with a diplomatic core.

So.
Why I think Sandrone might be Mary-Ann Guillotin. Spoilers for Fontaine side quests.
Tumblr media
*
Smoke and mirrors
As we have noticed in Liyue, Inazuma and Sumeru (and to an extent in Mondstadt) we do not normally *see* Harbingers until they appear for the final act, only the mechanisms they set in motion.
(Childe is an outlier and it's not like he's done anything productive yet)
Also most of Harbingers' lore so far has been dropped through things in the overworld (Signora's and Scaramouche's stories are in artifact sets, and Dottore's research notes are all over Sumeru). Somehow we have nothing on Arle's and Sandrone's backgrounds so far, which means we likely have something and we just don't know it yet.
Also Arlecchino is all over the plot, so I assume the important Harbinger in this chapter is Sandrone, everything else is an entertaining show to distract us. If she only appears in the final act, it would make sense if her exposition is done through lore tidbits scattered across the map.
*
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Now another angle.
I'm almost sure that the contradictory verdict is caused by a certain someone's connection to the Primordial sea. (I'll eat my HoD artifact set if it's not. not like it's a good set but eh)
So whoever framed that certain someone needs to: 1. Know how the Oratrice works (either an engineering genius or they know an engineering genius) 2. Know about the Primordial sea and the Abyss (a gentle reminder that Vaucher knew about its properties through Jakob) 3. Have a motive
Idk, the combination of the first two *screams* Narcissenkreuz to me. I assume the motive is destabilizing Fontaine's energy system. It furthers Harbingers' goals and it would be too lucky a coincidence if it was someone else. So... A Narcissenkreuzer and a Harbinger. Noice.
We have Mary-Ann disappearing during that accident in Elynas without a trace. No body was found. Sus. We know Alain founded the Research Institute and worked on his own projects until death from old age. He could have transfered his consciousness into a robot. Also someone else could have.
(maybe the big robot is Alain then. as they say in Mondstadt, ehe)
Tumblr media
(from Enigmatic Page XII, I can't guess who the author is)
*
Other characters' voicelines
Since Scaramouche's line about her says Sandrone is nowhere near an engineering genius and has produced a "copious amount of garbage", I assume it's not Alain. Mary-Ann it is then. She has her brother's old designs and theories but that's it.
Then there's Childe's voiceline about Sandrone:
Tumblr media
When it was added I assumed it was about how clueless Childe can be about the consequences of his actions, but also what if he really didn't do anything (poor boy. everyone is so quick to suspect the worst about him).
We know that Mary-Ann and Alain had a big falling out with Rene and Jakob because of the Abyss research and what they did to Carter. If Sandrone is in fact Mary-Ann, it's possible that whatever Childe is just reminds her of Jakob. Or of Carter. Sorry Childe, your existence is just a trigger for the poor traumatised girl.
*
Summarising all that: guys, gals, fellow Romans and other forms of life, it's Sandrone. Everything in Fontaine is about Sandrone.
*
Things this theory doesn't account for unless you squint really hard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- They don't look much alike but then a lot of years have passed and we have Herta from HSR and the way her appearance shifts slightly with each new puppet.
However, they also don't look that different.
- Why did Lyney need to investigate the Oratrice? If at least one Harbinger knows how it functions then what is left there to investigate? Maybe he was trying to tamper with it, of course. Or maybe they know the Gnosis is in there.
But then the Harbingers aren't exactly known for good communication between coworkers.
- If Mary-Ann is alive, why did she leave her brother behind? Why didn't she go back for Seymour?
I have no good answer for this, so this is likely proof that Sandrone is not Mary-Ann then.
(maybe she doesn't know Seymour is alive and he will recognize her sometime later in the story, of course)
- Who was the familiar voice Lyney heard near the Oratrice? It's not familiar enough to recognise but someone known to him. I doubt he knows Sandrone subordinates or met Sandrone herself. Or maybe he's lying and it's someone he recognises and wants to protect. Or maybe, as Cricket says in their post, that was a distraction too.
- Also there's Rene who happily dissolved into collective consciousness and no one heard of him after that. He could know any kind of things (including how the Oratrice works and what's happening with the primordial seawater) and it's a stretch of course, but any of the Harbingers (Arle included) could be working with him. Anyway, where's Rene?
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I just realized Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail are different games, and since I just realized they're free, which of them would you suggest I try out? (And how bad/tempting is the gacha system?)
MY FRIEND!!!! :DDDD i'm so glad you realized these are different games, and my years of ACADEMY TRAINING HAVE PREPARED ME FOR THIS
okay i'm going to do a general breakdown of the high/low points of each, with some mentions of their gacha system also before jumping into my personal onions about them
genshin impact basic premise in a non-spoilery way: your twin is kidnapped/whisked away by a mysterious deity, and you are left exploring the world of tevyat while running around different places and unraveling mysteries behind certain archons (gods) of different locations. there's also hints about a previous ruined kingdom khaenri'ah, which was known to follow no archons. there's also a wintry country called snezhnaya which runs a mysterious organization called the Fatui (like spies/assassins/agents), with top agents known as Harbingers (like Tartaglia (Childe)). characters: there are a lot of fun characters to meet and interact with, with a decent mix of personalities and foibles. there are some general issues where the female characters don't necessarily have their full range of powers/agency shown as taking center stage, and also have been hearing some (rightful) general criticism around the way the natlan character designs have been handled. storylines: i myself was drawn into playing it from what i heard about the liyue storyline (involving zhongli) and iT DID have almost everything i believed it should be in a cdrama general intrigues secret identities and some betrayal kind of way. i played through the mondstadt story quest, liyue storyline (my favorite), inazuma story quests (which was okay), and sumeru story quests (which were quite good). i never made my way into finishing fontaine.
the storytelling can feel a little uneven at parts, but when it is REALLY good with specific character stories, it is absolutely amazing. one time i played through a specific character quest and wrote a whole fic for that particular character like a month later ease of play: it's sort of like. real time battling in an open world kind of play. you need to physically switch between using characters in a team of four. the maps of story quests areas can be really large, and there were a Lot of collectibles that you needed to get if you leveled up everything. some world puzzles can be especially frustrating. i know when i was playing on a laptop, occasional internet issues would make battling hard sometimes. i'm not especially good at video games, but i still managed okay. other downsides--grinding for the right materials to level up your characters can Take a significant chunk of time time needed: a lot ; w ; but at my peak of playing it, i was averaging anywhere between 40 minutes to 1.5 hours on average days, which was enough to go through a lot of it gacha system: i was always a f2p player, and i think the pity system and the way they let you get materials for the gacha pulls is pretty reasonable! i've had some friends spend more to get copies of characters of course, but i never really felt the need to do that. i think at last count, i had like 8 or 9 five-star characters through just using f2p, and if there's a character you like, you can spend some time saving up the materials for pulls. i got at least four of the characters i wanted to pull for through just saving up from general daily quests and stuff like that
other fun things you might like to see if you were considering genshin: guides for building up characters, a zhongli character trailer in CN, a childe CN trailer, a Fantastic childe fanvid, my (spoilery) genshin tag.
final onions on genshin: you might like it, but the time cost required to get through the game may be a Lot. parts of the materials gathering and world exploration parts can get tedious, with controls for battling sometimes veering into clunky. i do Love certain character stories very much once playing through them. i also usually play it in original CN dub with english subs since i prefer the voices that way. different types of fun characters to like, with plenty of shipping material for certain couples (some with more canonical details to work with than others) i may recommend seeing if u want to watch a playthrough of the mondstadt archon quests, and the liyue archon quests (plus zhongli character quests), before deciding on playing
i think im breaking the limits of an ask reply right now, so please stay tuned as i jump into honkai star rail in a bit when i reblog this :''))

Teyvat Omegaverse AU - Biology
With the help of @biscuit-babbles, I have developed a set of headcanons for what an omegaverse AU in Genshin Impact might look like. This post is about the biology of omegas vs alphas vs betas, but I will also write about how different nations interact with this. This is NSFW, mostly because it discuses reproduction alongside other traits. NSFW Minors do not interact
Humans are the only species to have subsexs. While other species exist that look similar to humans, such as Liyue's Yaksha and Inazuma's Tengu with their ability to take on human form, they do not have the subsexs. Hybrid species, such as the Kätzlein Clan in Mondstadt, do have subsexes which provides insight on their genetic history. Often times, though, non-human species tend to be 'assigned' a subsex based on their behavior by humans, especially when they live in close proximity to each other.
In Teyvat, beyond the primary sex of a person (female, male, intersex, eta), a human is also born with a subsex. This subsex, also known as a secondary sex, is independent of a person's primary sex and can be either alpha, beta or omega. While the subsex is assigned at birth, the differences between them show up around the time of puberty.
Any combination of primary and secondary sex can exist. It is important to note that reproductive traits are determined by the sub sex rather than the primary. While primary sex has more noticeable effects on a person's body, they are not indicative of a person's subsex or their ability to impregnate or carry offspring. It is unknown currently why there exists both a primary and secondary sex in humans, considering most species only exabit a primary sex.
Traits of Subsexs
Alphas
Alphas are considered the more dominant subsex by most cultures in Teyvat. This does not mean that they are viewed as on a higher level in the social hierarchy though, as places like Sumeru and Fontaine actually value betas more than alphas. Alphas are often viewed as the counterpart of omegas. Alphas make up around 30% of any given population.
Alphas do produce phenomes, but it is on the level akin to betas. They can produce basic pheromones that can denote identity or some high intensity emotions, such as rage. Due to their enhanced sense of smell, alphas have an easier time identifying different emotional states in others, especially omegas who have a wide range of pheromones. This is what tends to push alphas to leadership or mediator positions as they tend to have an easier time reading people's intentions and emotions.
Alphas have an enhanced sense of smell compared to betas and omegas outside of heat. Alphas are able to pick up subtle scents and even have the ability to 'track' akin to canine species. Some alphas are even recorded to be able to pick up scents hounds can't, however this tends to be detrimental to these alpha's social lives and is considered unusual.
This subsex also is noted for being able to put on muscle mass and have increased stamina compared to betas and omegas. While alphas are not inherently stronger, alphas do have an easier time than other subsexs reaching higher levels of strength and endurance. Conversely, they can gain weight easier than other subsexs. Most alphas also tend to 'wander' more than betas or alphas, often travelling to other places or feel the need to 'stretch their legs'.
Alphas are mostly noted for being territorial over people they consider part of their 'pack', which is used here to describe the groups of people they are close to via familiar, platonic or romantic bonds. They tend to show more protective behaviors and often have shorter tempers when they feel like their pack is 'threatened.' There is evidence that alphas are predisposition to have a stronger fight or flight response, with a heavy leaning towards the fight response.
This subsex has a lot of traits that lead to the 'Roaming Alpha Theory'. Alphas have a lot of traits that would support them or encourage them to leave their pack of origin to join or create a different pack. This would have increased gene flow between groups of humans, ensuring healthy genetic variation with separate populations. With the ability to 'track' down different groups and ability to gain muscle mass or fat, alphas would be well equipped to survive outside of a group setting for a bit. The territorialness could help with creating a pack and the ability to interpreted pheromones could help maintain the pack overtime.
Alphas, regardless of primary sex, have the ability to impregnate. Alphas are born with a penis and testes, however the rest of their body is determined by their primary sex. Female alphas lack a vagina but still retain breast tissue. However, this breast tissue lacks memory glands, seeming to serve no purpose for feeding offspring. This supports the theory that alphas, and subsexs in general, are an offshoot of when humans were only betas.
'Rut' is a term used for the hormonal response to the pheromones released by an omega who is unrelated to them and is in heat. It is a state of increased sex drive and heightened release of oxytocin when performing bonding acts with others. It is estimated to take about 8-12 hours around an omega in heat for an alpha to enter rut, with about 4 hours to exit rut after being removed from the pheromone stimuli.
In 'rut', alphas often take care of their omega partners as alphas don't experience the same level of hormones in rut as omegas do in heat. They also experience a positive feedback loop with omega pheromone during this time, though outside of rut and heat, alphas are impacted by omega phenomes to a lesser degree. When alpha's react to an omega's pheromones, the change in behavior triggers an increased hormonal response in the omega, which releases more pheromones. This can be a really pleasant time for both the omega and the alpha, but also can be traumatizing if forced.
Betas
Betas are the considered the more flexible of the subsex. They are often considered to be a blend of alpha and omega traits, despite evidence suggesting omegas and alphas appeared later in human evolutionary history than betas. Often viewed as more rational due to not being affected by pheromones, betas make up 60% of the human population.
Betas can smell pheromones but are unable to understand the nuances of omega pheromones nor able to pick up on pheromones except those released by very strong emotional responses. Like alphas, betas produce pheromones but only ones that denote individual identity and with strong emotions. They have an average sense of smell and are unable to track like alphas, but also aren't prone towards experiencing any discomfort around strong scents like vinegar. They can still pick up on personal identifying scents when physically close to someone.
Betas are considered the most resilient of the subsexs as they do not have to deal with the complexities of alpha and omega traits, such as not being rendered overstimulated by pheromones or not having cold sensitivity. Their lack of response to pheromones and other hormone based phenomenons, leave them more flexible in biological and social roles. Their scents are also more stable, which is appealing to the scent sensitive alpha, and their lack of response to pheromones appeals to omegas due to beta's not potentially overwhelming them during heat.
Betas are the most common subsex. Unlike with alphas and omegas, their reproductive traits are associated with their primary sex, with female betas being able to bear offspring and male betas being able to impregnate. This does not impact their compatibility with omegas or alphas. Betas do not experience rut or heat periods.
Omegas
Omegas, making up 10% of the population, are viewed as the submissive subsex by most cultures. Considered the counterpart to alphas, omegas are noted for their fertility, complex pheromones and being the most impacted physically by their subsex.
Omegas have a heightened sense of touch. This leads to them being sensitive to textures, often requiring clothes specially designed for the individual omega to be worn comfortably. This comes into play during 'nesting', which will be discussed later on. It also means omegas are more affected by touch, often experiencing heighted positive emotions with friendly touch and heightened negative responses to harmful touch. Most omegas enjoy touching their friends, family and loved ones, often doing things like hugging them or seeking physical affection more often for comfort than other forms of affection.
Omegas are cold sensitive, getting cold easier than other subsexs. It was theorized that this is a trait that evolved to encourage omegas to stay in packs, seeking warmth. This also connected to their large 'nests', or spaces filled with textures appealing to the omega and is a place the omega feels secure in.
Interestingly, omegas themselves lack a scent associated with their individual identity. Instead, omegas 'adopt' the scent of the area they feel comfortable in or consider home, often times where they live or grew up. This leads to omegas having scents more related to location, such as an omega from Mondstadt have notes of windwheel asters in their scent, or people they are very close to, such as having elements of their partner's scent in their own scent. It is theorized to be something meant to help figure out which pack an omega is apart of, or if the omega already has a partner/partners so other alphas don't attempt to court the omega.
Omegas also have a wide range of pheromones that they release subconsciously. Unlike alphas or betas, omegas don't just release pheromones when experiencing intense emotions and instead have pheromones related to a wide variety of emotions. This tends to get omegas stereotyped as 'emotional' because alphas can pick up on the nuances of their scent (though some betas have been able to pick up the nuances as well).
Omegas have a standard sense of smell, akin to betas. They can also smell identifying scents but have to be physically close to catch it, similarly to how betas can only pick up an identifying scent when hugging someone. There is an exception to this, however. When an omega is in 'heat', or a period when the omega is ovulating and is experiencing an intense amount of hormones, omegas will experience a heightened sense of smell to the point they can pick up on scents meant to denote an indvidual's identity from clothes they wore or things scented, akin to the level of an alpha.
Roughly once every 3 months, an adult omega will enter a period of time called 'heat'. It can last anywhere from 3- 5 days and is a period of time where the omega is experiencing an intense rush of hormones, influencing their behavior. This is also when an omega is ovulating, with 1 - 2 ova commonly being released. During this time, an omega experiences heightened sensitivity to stimuli, heightened sense of smell, increased sexual drive and need for companionship. Omegas also tend to experience 'brain fog' during this time and have difficulty completing certain tasks, meaning prep work is required for a safe heat, alongside an attentive partner. This likely is what caused the 'nesting' instinct to develop in omegas.
'Nesting' refers to the set of behaviors omegas do to create a nest. Nesting usually happens when an omega is approaching heat, but often times its maintenance work as omegas tend to have an established nest year-round. It involves the gathering of materials to create a large 'bed', usually using things that smell like people they are close to and/or are a pleasant texture to the omega. It also involves gathering food and other supplies. Omegas also tend to withdraw a bit when nearing their heat, seeking warm and comfortable places instead.
Omegas are the subsex most effected by their subsex, which has led to the stereotype of them being 'delicate' or 'needing to be protected.' Beyond having difficulties in colder environments and their heats, omegas are just as capable as other subsexs.
Another interesting facet of an omega's heat is the difference in response to individuals around them. While heat can be overwhelming, impacting an omegas ability and in some cases ability to process surroundings due to increased sensitivity to smells, touch and hormones, that doesn't mean omegas are only acting on instinct. If taken care of by a family member or someone the omega isn't interested in sexually, omegas will experience a decrease in their sex drive during heat. This usually leads to increased playfulness, cuddling and sensory activities. This phenomenon is often referred to as a 'warmth' and can even happen instead of a heat due to high levels of stress.
While alphas are territorial over people, omegas are territorial over areas. This usually is just the area that their nest is, usually their homes, but some omegas will claim larger areas. There have been records of omegas claiming whole villages as 'theirs', fiercely guarding the area and the inhabitants from threats. This also tends to make omegas less likely to move, often becoming very attached to their dwellings. Omegas in heat are especially territorial as they are vulnerable while in heat.
Regardless of primary sex, omegas are able to carry offspring. Omegas are born with a vagina and uterus. Male omega, while having a seemingly flat chest, do have mammary glands. These glands grow when the male omega is pregnant as to feed their offspring. Since having twins is not uncommon for omegas, and they heal faster after childbirth than omegas, it is possible their relative rarity as a subsex is meant to ensure there aren't large population booms. It is theorized omegas, and by extension subsexs, evolved in order to combat high mortaility rates due to how dangerous Teyvat is. It isn't uncommon for someone to die due to Teyvat's environment or creatures, so humans evolved ways to make up for this.

Would you exclaim (euphemistically or non-euphemistically) using the name of the Archons…?
Actually, how would euphemisms of the Archons work (think gosh or golly for God)…?
Canonical Chinese terms for Morax in Liyue include: 岩王帝君 (Yán Wáng Dìjūn),帝君 (Dìjūn),岩王爷 (Yán wángyé), 他老人家 (tā lǎorénjiā, Chinese honourific meaning that old man).
By the way, 岩王爷 and 他老人家 are used by Yun Jin in her “About the Vision” voiceline in relation to her Geo Vision. (In the English localization she calls him Lord of Geo and the old man, respectively.)
Let it be known that in Mandarin, 岩王爷 (despite using 岩 which is stone, localized as Geo for the element) is a homonym of 阎王爷 (Yán wángyé), who’s the King of Hell in ancient Chinese religions. Other terms for this deity in real life include 阎罗王 (Yánluó wáng), 阎罗 (Yánluó), and 阎罗大王 (Yáluó Dàwáng) in Mandarin, and यम (Yama-raja) in Sanskrit (in Hinduism).
(From Baidu Baike page “阎罗王 (中国古代神话中的十殿阎王之一 )” and the Wikipedia page on “Yama (Hinduism)”)
Rex Lapis’ page on the Genshin Impact wiki also states
“His Chinese title, 岩王帝君 Yánwáng Dìjūn, "Imperial Sovereign Yánwáng; Stonelord Sovereign; Rex Lapis" includes the honorific title 帝君 dìjūn, "sovereign," typically added to the names of Daoist deities.”
(The page also has some great discussions on the etymologies of Morax’s titles in the comments.)
Technically speaking, 岩王帝君 in pinyin would be written as Yán Wáng Dìjūn because 岩 means rock or stone, and 王 means lord or king, and thus 岩王 (meaning rock king, stone lord, Lord of Geo if you will) is not one word and would not be transcribed as Yánwáng. (So if anyone could edit pinyin transcriptions of the tile on the wiki that’d be great.)
For 阎王爷, 阎 is also part of the name and 王爷 is the honorific..
…Hm.
(Spoilers for Neuvillette’s profile line after completing Masquerade of the Guilty.)
.
Neuvillette in the English localization of his “About the Geo Archon” profile line calls the Geo Archon Deus Auri (Latin: God of Gold) who has the Authority of Geo. In the original Chinese text, the first is 贵金之神 (Guìjīn zhī Shén, God of Gold), and the second is 岩之大权 (Yán zhī Dàquán). Hmm… 贵金 possibly comes from 贵金属 (Guìjīnshǔ) which is precious metal, referring to such as gold, silver, and platinum… Well, it’s likely a cultural difference between Liyue and Fontaine that resulted in such titles.
Looking at the (English localization of the) diegesis, with the Iudex of Fontaine calling the Geo Archon Deus Auri, it makes less sense that in the English localization, Liyue people would use the Latin term Rex Lapis for him when in contrast the Inazuma people refer to Ei and the Shogun puppet as Raiden Shogun.
I think… It’d make sense for Fontainians or Mondstadters to call him Rex Lapis.

the letter arrives in a deep blue envelope, tucked in between several pressed qingxin flowers. the handwriting is elegant, with your name neatly printed across the back of the envelope in a graceful cursive.
Dear [Name], Do you know of the Yun-Han Opera Troupe? I had never heard of such a group before I arrived in Liyue, but I am so happy I did! Liyuen opera is so different to Fontaine's, it was almost startling. But it's breathtaking, the singing alone was enough to leave me speechless, and the performance! It was incredible, I must take you to see a show when we have a chance. Next time I take a trip, you will certainly have to accompany me. We don't have to go to Liyue, we can go to Mondstadt, or Snezhnaya if you want. Maybe even Inazuma, now the borders have opened. A break is long overdue, I would say; you've been working far too hard recently. Truthfully, though, while I am thrilled to be on vacation, I'm feeling a bit homesick. I miss my own bed, with all of its sheets and pillows making a nest on top of the mattress. I miss sleeping in until it's late in the morning, and waking up to you bringing me breakfast. I miss you. I can't begin to tell you how strange it feels to go so long without having you near, it feels like I lost a part of myself. Ah, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make this gloomy. I am having a good time, I promise! I can only hope your work isn't tiring you out too much, because once I'm home I will have a lot to tell you! I will see you soon! Take care of yourself in the meantime. Furina ♡

im a bit of a complainy mood. I've already aired multiple grievances to friends but kinda wanted to consolidate my thoughts
Natlan is still disappointing. I had a feeling i wouldn't like it from the teasers and I'm still not really into it spoilers for the natlan archon quest and various things abt the nation below the cut
I will preface this by saying I really enjoyed the archon story in and of itself. It was pretty solid, my main gripe being that there is ZERO buildup to the capitano fight and I think even a little would've been better cause its an AWESOME fight, but literally just some fatui run into the arena and are like grrr we're gonna fight you, cutscene, then capitano runs off and we don't see him again for the rest of the quest. Traveler isn't even there to see it.
But everything else just. Not it chief.
Most of the other nations, you look at them and you go 'yeah that looks like the nation of x element' Liyue has big huge mountains and weird landforms, Inazuma's got storms and a variety of just, zappy stuff in the elements. heck its even got electro seelies. Sumeru's got a rainforest. Its also got the desert tbf but it's interesting for lore and story and added conflict between the people of the rainforest and the desert. Fontaine is far from my favorite nation but I look at it and go 'yeah, this looks like the nation of hydro'
the exception being Mondstadt, which, aside from the windmills, doesn't really have a strong sense of 'this is the nation of anemo' but I'm willing to give it a pass since its the starter nation. Natlan I'm not, cause we've seen how good the enviroment design can be. and its not bad
it just doesn't feel like pyro. There's a few places, like you can go underground and find some lava. There's a big volcano on the horizon but. Otherwise it doesn't feel like it's got a lot to do with fire at all. It kinda feels in a lot of places just like an expansion to the sumeru desert.
Another thing is with the tribes. These do not feel like tribes of pyro. They are all of different elements. There is the little water tribe with their hot springs and the little earth tribe with their gems and the dendro tribe up in the trees. We already got whole nations dedicated to these elements. Why does the Pyro nation have to revisit them in miniature versions?
It feels like it's lacking identity.
And I think that comes from Hoyo deciding it wanted to have a 'tribal' nation and deciding to pick and chose from cultures across the world, rather than just one area. Mondstadt is based on Germany, Liyue- China, Inzauma- China, Sumeru I believe is intended to be Middle Eastern? So, not a specific country but still an area that is connected at least by proximity.
Natlan is?? Supposed to be from what? Australia, South America, and Africa? I haven't done any research on this but I think that's right. and I think that was a bad idea. These cultures are all separated by huge distances, topography, environments, ect ect. I think the developers should have picked one and just stuck to it. I originally thought it was going to JUST be South American based cultures since some of those had a big focus on sun worship and yknow, sun imagery for the pryo nation made sense? Also like, Tierra del Fuego??
yeah.
Another gripe is the character designs. One, the characters don't really look like they're coheisve and from the same nation. Again the tribes dividing and yeah that makes sense but I think it was a bad choice. If you put all the Fontaine characters together, they'd look like they belonged together. Group all the desert characters from Sumeru and all the rainforest charactesr and you can tell they're each from their respective areas for the most part.
Chasca and Kinich don't look like they come from the same country. Or Iansan and Kachina. I don't think this was a good choice.
ANother thing, though I admit this one's a little more nitpicky, is the apparent use of like, more modern tech in Natlan?
Like we already had fontaine that was supposed to be the most advanced because of the indemntium or whatever it was called, produced by the oratrice thingy. Why then does Kinich look like he came out of a mario brother game and Maiuvika look like she's part of a biker gang? I know you can excuse some things being that 'well visions give you extra powers and stuff and you don't necesarily need tech!"
but it doesn't fit. This hodgepodge 'tribal asethetic' was already bad enough, not trying to ground itself, but this is a fantasy game and even the fontaine and khaenri'anh technology looks fairly fantastic and not super immersion breaking. Why in the leaks does Xiolen have like a dj-disco board?? ofc its a leak so it might not be real, but at this point I wouldn't be surprised!
And that brings me to the gameplay of natlan characters. Imagine if you will, if Wanderer could only fly in Sumeru. or if Yelan could only do her super cool running thing in Liyue or if Zhongli only summoned a pillar in Liyue. If Furina could only walk on water in Fontaine. It'd suck right? Where's the fun in that? Ok. then why are Natlan characters nerfed outside of Natlan? Oh there's the canon explination of the phogostin or whatever. But the devs had to add that in specifically. They didn't have to do that. Why shouldn't Mualani be able to swim on her funny shark as long in Sumeru as she can in Natlan? Why cant Kinich have two swings in Mondstadt aND Natlan? Why did these charactesr get nerfed so hard that you can only use them in one place? The saurians make them redundant anyway. but you can only use saurians in Natlan, why not let people use the characters they pulled for. outside of natlan. I especially feel like this will suck for newer players who are just starting. Imagine you're still in inazuma or liqyue and you get this cool new character, but you can only effectily use them in one place, while the entire rest of the world you still have to explore, they just aren't as good?
I don't know, but I don't like it. It just feels like. nerfing the fun. You're only allowed to have fun with these characters in a certain place.
Tbh i don't really like the idea of the phologistim (i can't be bothered to look it up so it's gonna be spelled wrong every time), Fontaine had the pnuema and ousia specific only to the nation's characters and while I didn't really like it a lot, it didn't impact the gameplay a ton. You can still use Nuevilette just fine yknow. But I don't like the nation specific gimmicks a ton and it just started with fontaine and got worse with natlan. I hope it goes away and isn't applicable in the next nations.
also. again this is a nitpick but in general just kinda disappointed with the saurians. what little we knew made it sound like they were equal to humans, but mostly they just seem to be slightly more intelligent animals and not all that. important? I haven't played through all the world quests, so its more just my first impression. im pretty sure Kachina says they're more than pets and they're actual companions, but aside from Ajaw we don't actually SEE that much companionship going on aside from the saurians just kinda hanging out and standing next to people.
Idk we're still in the early parts of the nation so stuff might improve later on and ofc this is all just, my own impressions and opinions. If you love natlan and are enjoying it then I am genuinely happy! I'm glad you're having fun. Why are you reading this. Don't listen to me. Go play the game and enjoy it.

Im glad you also liked fontaine !! Ppl shit on it and its def not perfect, but it gave us some the best developed characters so far, and I also enjoy how all the girlies know eachother and hang out together (I loved clorinde's quest for this) ntm the lore of the melusines is also sooo good too
Hii sorry i forgot to answer sooner, ofc it's not perfect because ultimately this is still genshin but it really did feel like a significant improvement in terms of writing compared to previous regions and i feel like the overall themes of the region were a lot more like. coherent too. Also tbh yeah something that i missed in Inazuma which is what i regard as the worst written genshin region so far is the like... complete lack of chemistry and connection between the main playable cast and that's something they significantly improved with Sumeru and even moreso in Fontaine imo. Something i really liked about Fontaine's story is that it focused a lot more on the individual characters and their conflicts and the beef they all have with each other
I know Mondstadt and Liyue didn't have the most stellar writing or the most interesting storylines because they were the earliest regions but their charm point really was how entertaining the character dynamics and interactions were and like. the feeling that everyone in the playable cast is somehow connected to one another. In Mondstadt specifically I loved the fact that it really does feel like a small village the way everyone is somehow up in everyone else's business and i was not hoping to see that again in later regions because they're all supposed to be bigger nations with bigger cities and shit so ofc the small town vibe would be missing but they somehow still got it to work and make the cast feel connected in Fontaine despite it being a completely different setting. Also the story being actually interesting and coherent really caught me off guard because i expected it to be lowkey a filler region

XiaoLumi, Dilumi, Cynarlumi
Send me a ship with my muse and I'll describe their dynamic
// *cracks knuckles* Let's do thisー
Xiaolumi
The ship which takes a decade to get together because both of them are as dense as a rock. They are also preoccupied with a lot of other things and suffer from the emotional trauma of losing someone dear to them (with the key difference being that Lumine's brother is still alive, of course).
They feel comfortable in each other's company, but they wouldn't link it to romantic feelings right off the bat. Instead this would be something which evolves gradually over time, as they start to notice how their heart starts beating just a little faster when they see the other, or how their face suddenly feels hot when their hands accidentally touch. uwu
Then once they do get together, they're like the most sappy couple ever. They'd constantly want to be in each other's company (especially Xiao is very protective so he'd always be keeping an eye on Lumine to make sure she doesn't do something reckless and gets herself hurt).
My personal headcanon is also that in the long run, Lumine's company would help severly decrease Xiao's suffering from his karmic debt, based on how the Traveller is semi-hinted to have some kind of purifying/cleansing powers.
Plots I want for these two:
a) Amnesia!au (cliched but I'm a sucker for it): Lumine gets badly wounded when protecting Xiao in battle. With the help of Baizhu, her life is saved, but she would be in a comatose state for a while. When she awakens, her memories of her time in Teyvat appear to be temporarily suppressed so Xiao has to help make her remember everything - him included.
b) I know Xiao is canonically bound to Liyue but I really want these two to explore another region together. ;w; Top choices would be Sumeru's rainforest or Fontaine's underwater areas.
Dilumi
At first I think Diluc would be more of an older brother or mentor figure to Lumine. She is rather hotheaded and reckless, so having someone like Diluc around who can keep his head cool (ironic since he's the one with the Pyro vision) is very useful.
Once romance blossoms between the two of them, they wouldn't be the 'in your face' kind of couple who go around holding hands all the time or being super lovey-dovey. They would keep it fairly professional in the public sphere, but at home there would be a lot of cuddling and smooching. uwu I think Diluc would be a very doting boyfriend but not in an overbearing way. He would still give Lumine the freedom to travel, while also keeping in touch with her frequently enough.
Plots I want for these two:
a) Since Mondstadt is based on Germany and winter markets/holiday themed events are super popular in Germany, I think it would be cute for them to go there together. ;w; Just doing cute stuff together like iceskating, trying some of the regional foods from the food vendors, buying each other cute little gifts, etc. Even better if it starts snowing at some point and they watch it together while sitting on a bench, all huddled up.
b) For something a little more serious, I could see them teaming up to investigate the Abyss Order. We have already seen that Diluc is involved in this in-game and Lumine would obviously be interested in knowing more about them as well - seeing as her own brother is most likely with them too.
Cynarlumi
I don't have a lot of experience writing poly ships but this is definitely one I can see work! Tighnari is the serious one of the trio while Cyno is the jokester and Lumine is somewhat in the middle. She does have her goofy/silly moments, but she will side with Tighnari when Cyno's puns flurry out of control lol.
Since Cyno and Tighnari have known each other the longest, I think their relationship would establish first with both of them developing feelings for Lumine afterwards. I think it might lead to a lot of internal conflict at first until they kind of realize 'Wait, all of us have two hands!'.
Once they've established a proper poly relationship, I don't think there would be a lot of jealousy or tension. They spend a lot of time with all three of them, but sometimes it'll just be Tighnari and Cyno or either of the boys with Lumi and they're totally chill with that.
Plots I want for these three (I haven't played Sumeru AQ so my knowledge on the boys is a bit more limited, hence why these are more lighthearted and not directly linked to the game's plot:
a) Tighnari falls ill from overworking himself, so Cyno and Lumine have to take care of him while also doing his forest watcher work while he is out of commission. Of course, this does not always go so smoothly.
b) The three of them go to the Lantern Rite in Liyue together. They want to wear traditional Liyue-style clothes for the occassion, but both Tighnari and Cyno want to choose Lumine's outfit - unfortunately, both of them have a completely different concept in mind so they have a little 'showdown' to convince Lumine that their choice is the best.
