Reread: All Hail Megatron, Part 3

On a second read, I think my view of All Hail Megatron has softened somewhat, or at least I’ve got a better sense of what I do and do not like. The human storyline is consistently the weakest part, for me. While I can understand the interest in a human perspective on the alien invasion storyline, I’m not sure that Spike Witwicky’s generic military action hero character was the way to go. Perhaps an actual civilian perspective would have been better? Another problem is that there are a lot of human characters introduced at the beginning, but very few are developed in any real way. Shane McCarthy manages to take many of the Cybertronian characters through some kind of change or development, in fact, through some fairly major ones that have lasting impacts, but the humans just show up one after another: Andy Reid, the pilot who dies, Sparkplug, Mrs. Witwicky, Sarah, Bridge, Spike… I have to think that focusing more closely on a few characters might have yielded a more memorable storyline.

After Megatron is defeated and the nuclear bomb is stopped, issues 13-16 are made up of short stories from a range of different artists and writers. It’s an interesting choice, but it means that a quarter of the whole run is made up of what are, essentially, patches. Most of the short stories are either filling in part of a character’s perspective that didn’t make it into the main storyline or establishing the status quo for a new series, at least some of which I think could have been incorporated if they’d been willing to just use the full sixteen issues in the first place.

They go:

‘Old Ways’ by Simon Furman and Don Figueroa

This one is a bit of a hard sell for me. Figueroa goes for Bayverse-inspired artwork so this is the issue with the ‘night demon�� Ironhide - he’s very toothy. The choice to have a lot of the scenes set in Cybertron’s past in a washed out sepia seems a bit of shame, as although it makes the divide between past and present clear it also limits the visual interest in some of those panels.

The story mostly serves to enable a series of flashbacks and establish Optimus and Ironhide’s relationship… which is nice, but maybe a bit late considering what is about to happen very, very shortly in Transformers (2009). The story is simple and serves its purpose in that it shows how their relationship progressed from contentious to mutually respectful. It’s not terribly interesting on its own, but it becomes more interesting when other stories bounce off of it - like the Prowl story below.

‘Uneasy Lies the Head’ by Mike Costa and Chee Yang Ong

This short story is alright. In fact, I would say it’s the best issue by Costa that I have read so far. My problem with it, however, is the way it serves as a sort of harbinger of a lot of the issues I have with Costa’s work on the ongoing in Transformers (2009). Chee Yang Ong’s art style is curious! He did a fair bit of work around this period of IDW1 and some of his lighting is interesting.

The story centres on establishing what has happened to the Decepticons following their abandonment of Earth, Megatron’s near death, and Starscream’s rise to interim leader. The most glaring thing is the very abrupt implosion of the Decepticon cause. The titular ‘head’ wearing the heavy crown here refers to Starscream, as he realises how bad the situation is: he’s about to face a bunch of infighting, the Decepticons lack direction without Megatron as a figurehead, and they are running out of energon and other resources, apparently having spent almost everything they had just keeping Megatron alive. When I say this is ‘abrupt’ I really do mean it. Around the midpoint of AHM, the Decepticons are near total victory to the extent that characters are worried about what to do after the war. Now, all of that has disappeared… Losing Earth makes sense, as does Megatron being injured, but I can’t help but wonder about the rest of the faction’s resources? Throughout the previous fourteen issues we’re told about the Decepticon Empire, that their outposts are thriving, that they have overwhelmed various Autobot installations en masse, etc. The faction struggling so severely after Megatron’s defeat would make more sense if there hadn’t been so much emphasis placed on how close they were to complete victory. Instead, the sudden collapse comes across a bit rushed - perhaps I’m missing some context?

The other problem is the lack of activity from the Decepticons. It’s not very obvious in this short story, because the format is so limited, but having read further ahead I think this story starts to show how little the Decepticons are going to matter for parts of Costa’s run. The existential issues they are supposedly facing take place mostly off-panel: the energon starting to run out, deciding to spend almost everything on Megatron’s life support, evacuating the Earth, the leadership challenges… All of these things are briefly mentioned as having either already happened or being about to happen. The reader doesn’t see any of this, despite how potentially interesting and narratively important these things could be.

A zoomed in example of this is the trajectory of Starscream’s character - this is, in a sense, a Starscream-centric story. The first fourteen issues of AHM are not at all Starscream-centric, but they do end on a major change. Starscream abandons a coup attempt in order to merge his supporters back in with Megatron’s and ensure a Decepticon victory and he doesn’t let Optimus finish off or capture Megatron, all of which ties into a couple of scenes where he and Megatron discuss leadership and the potential end of the war. The decision to rescue Megatron instead of abandoning him for his own benefit was a very decisive moment that McCarthy created, something shown to be surprising to characters in the story and probably to actual readers, as well. Anyway, it was a character arc that had some real momentum and then it just… stagnates. Costa has Starscream cave under the pressure of leadership/the sudden One Ring-esque influence of the Matrix almost immediately, not in the sense of acting out or making bad tactical decisions, but more in the sense that he locks himself in a room and doesn’t engage. Even more glaringly, very few other Decepticons seems to react to this, whether to try and intervene or to try and take advantage. Essentially, the faction kind of goes dormant for several years in-story.

I don’t love the role that the Matrix ultimately plays in this. I feel the role of the Matrix in IDW1 is very unsettled, anyway. Megatron stealing and hiding it, then Starscream using it to shore up his own leadership position is good, in fact, it’s kind of similar to the whole ‘Chosen One’ thing in Robots in Disguise. From what I’ve read so far, though, it seems like a lot of it just didn’t come to fruition. If I was cynical about it, I might suggest that Costa wanted to limit the number of Transformer characters he needed to write, especially ones that didn’t interact regularly with humans, so shoving most of the Decepticon faction onto an asteroid where they are out of the way of the increasingly Spike Witwicky-heavy storyline might have suited the story he wanted to tell.

‘Replay’ by Shane McCarthy and Emiliano Santalucia

Another flashback-heavy short story, this time focusing on Sunstreaker. We have almost a montage of the terrible things that have been done to Sunstreaker, especially centring around his imprisonment by the Machination and his merging with Hunter O’Nion, followed by a ‘recovery’ on Cybertron. As the title implies, the story is interested in both replaying moments from earlier issues in more detail and in getting at how Sunstreaker has been traumatised by his capture and torture and, consequently, how that is driving the decisions he makes. It’s very simple, quite pared down in terms of dialogue, and I actually like it, as I think it effectively reinforces and adds some extra emotion to Sunstreaker’s storyline.

‘Rebirth’ by Andy Schmidt and Andrew Griffin

This feels like an awkward bit of an issue and I think some of the voices are off - Cyclonus is quite informal, for instance. This mostly updates you on what Galvatron and Co. have been up to. It seems to have some continuity errors, which is unfortunate because it’s written by the editor.

‘Everything in its Right Place’ by Nick Roche

Well, the Radiohead reference is ominous. As is the fact that Prowl is getting punched in the face again, as I think that’s the second time in five issues - both times it was by another Autobot, which is interesting.

This is full Roche Prowl and ties into both Kup’s Spotlight issue and Last Stand/Sins of the Wreckers. It’s wordy, essentially one long monologue from the perspective of the character, but that does enable a nice comparison between Prowl’s spoken dialogue and his thoughts - it’s effective. I think Prowl’s personality was going through a bit of a nightmare around this point, as you had Furman’s version, Costa’s version, Roche’s version, and, McCarthy’s version - I can see why Roche’s Prowl tends to be better remembered though, as his characterisation is very decisive.

Another thing, and this is just trivia and empty speculation, but here we go: it’s noticeable just how many people from the Ark-17 or from Kimia, some of whom worked with Prowl or on his projects, ended up joining the Lost Light rather than staying behind on Cybertron. Swerve and Brainstorm were at Kimia, then we’ve got Perceptor, Trailbreaker, and Siren on the Ark-17. Sizzle is the only character from that gaggle who doesn’t end up on the Lost Light. I think spending time working for Prowl changes a mech.

‘Lost and Found’ by Denton J. Tipton and Casey Coller

This story mostly expands on McCarthy’s decision to retool Perceptor as more of an action-focused sniper and I think it is helpful in that it elaborates on how his helplessness and his dependence on Drift to rescue him drive his new surge for independence. My real objection is just that this newfound physical competency comes very quickly and that it seems a little late in the four million year war to suddenly have this realisation. I mean, surely Perceptor must have been injured/in a near-death situation before, right?

I also thought it was a bit of an anti-climactic showing for Monstructor, who gets one-shotted.

Some of the reactions to Perceptor changing his role also seem a bit… odd. I can understand characters having reservations or not taking him seriously at first, but Blaster saying ‘you’ve defiled yourself’ seems like it needs a bit more context.

‘Hidden’ by Zander Cannon and Chee Yang Ong

A precursor to Cannon and Ong’s Bumblebee miniseries, once again I actually find Ong’s art pretty interesting, with lots of heavy shadows and varied colours for the sky. I think this story helps to get across some of the human perspective that didn’t make it into AHM’s main story so much, in this case the paranoia and confusion of humans trying to understand which vehicles are normal and which are not.

Is it just me, or is Bumblebee’s characterisation all over the place, though? Not quite as much as Prowl’s, but it’s still pretty inconsistent.

‘The Man of Steel’ by Mark Costa and Guido Guidi

The short story that gives us the infamous nurses panel… Oh, it’s a sad, sad set up. ‘He’s the closest thing to a superhero we’ve got’ announces the general, as he turns the handle to open the door. The reader turns and discovers a splash page - in an eleven page story, mind you - of this:

That, but with more miniskirts.

It would be funny if it wasn’t a bit of a desperate attempt to make Spike seem cool. It’s not just a single slightly cheesecake-y page either, all of the characters are kind of insulting about the nurses, too. That, or they refer to them as ‘the view’. This approach to female characters will not improve in the coming issues by Costa. The jingoism also starts chiming in, too.

Speaking of uneconomical comics writing, was it really worth killing off Thrust in a single panel just to demonstrate Spike’s point, especially as the Coneheads were already down Ramjet?

With its slow pace, splash pages, and macho posturing this short story is unfortunately a better indicator of what the 2009 ongoing series would be like than ‘Uneasy Lies the Head’ was.

Crepus Ragnvindr: General Hcs

A/N:

When I say "flaws" I mean it more in a he's human, he's not gonna be good at everything. If you want to see more about Crepus lemme know.

Flaws (subjective)/Areas of Weakness/Etc:

He has no sense of direction whatsoever, like he always has to have a map and compass on him if he's away from the house or vineyard or inside the city of Freedom (now getting to and from those places is a different story at times)

His perception of time is a bit warped but he makes up for it by keeping a pocket watch and a planner on him, calenders in the major rooms of the house he frequents as well as the tavern.

Has a hard time expressing his feelings, which has caused some people to think he's distant...no, no, he's just a little awkward

A pacifist at heart but also stubborn, it's an interesting combo

He's helpful and that can be great, wonderful even, but he has a habit of spreading himself too thin at times

He forgets that he's got quite the imposing physique, which can be intimidating to those not familiar with him but he typically can pick up on the mood and takes on a more at ease body language

Quirks/Habits/Etc:

If he didn't have so many writing lessons growing up his handwriting would be illegible, it can be hard to read when he's writing in a rush

Fidgets with things while talking, definitely cannot sit still for extended periods of time (if it was a modern setting Crepus would have ADHD ong)

Doesn't care for spiders, doesn't hate them but they don't sit right with him

Foodie, you can always catch him with some sort of snack on him (if he goes too long without eating he gets a little flakey/spacey mentally cause his blood sugar is low)

Ambivert for sure: sometimes he really likes to be social and go out but other times he'd rather be at home with a good book

It's mentioned in Diluc's voice lines that Crepus was a collector of art, with that in mind it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say that he's an artist. Painting/drawing has to be his favorite but next would definitely be playing music then dancing.

Since he's artsy he tends to keep a pocket sketchbook on him and can be found doodling in it in his free time

Hello!! IT (2017) IS ABSOLUTELY ONE OF THEM oh man, thank you for this, I love talking about movies!!!! This is possibly the most difficult question you could have asked me. Apologies for how absolutely off the rails this got, I just... love movies so much lmao

I’ve said this before, but opening night of IT ch1 was the best cinema experience I’ve ever had, I’m so glad I got to see it with a fully packed audience who were all laughing and screaming together the whole way through. I’m a huge fan of... everything ch1 was doing, the 80s nostalgia, the summer-coming-of-age themes, the solid ghost train funhouse JOY of the Pennywise performance and scares, the washed-out cinematography, the tiny background details to make everything that much more eerie, the kids’ ACTING?!

Like, a lot of the time I find child actors can be really awkward and stilted to watch, but I remember leaving the cinema really impressed by JDG and Sophia Lillis in particular. I liked that they were all allowed to be little shitheads with potty mouths, it felt like a callback to 80s movies like The Lost Boys or Stand By Me. The whole thing worked to make me really care about what happened to the kids (even if I do still have issues with how they handled Mike. I understand even ch1 had limitations with juggling so many characters, but still). I saw it another 2 times in the cinema and have rewatched it at least, I dunno, 7-10 more times since then?

Add to all of that the retroactive CANON R+E baby pining subplot? I just love it, as if that wasn’t obvious by now given my Whole Blog. It’s a really special movie to me!

Anyway!! Ok, the main handful of movies I rewatch all the fucking time are:

Back to the Future, The Lost Boys, Pride and Prejudice (2005), Jaws, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Breakfast Club, Ocean’s 11, POTC 1, The Dark Knight, Inception, Die Hard, LOTR trilogy, Snatch, The Nice Guys, Logan Lucky, Mad Max Fury Road, Clueless, 10 Things I Hate About You, Billy Elliot, Dirty Dancing, Tomb Raider (2018)...

Those are the easily consumable ones that I’ve seen so many times I don’t really have to concentrate or think about them, but I really love them and unfortunately often KEEP rewatching them instead of new stuff. It would take too long to go into why I love all these movies so much because I could write the same amount as I already did for ITCH1, and everyone already knows why those movies are good, so, lol.

I think I’m gonna have to subdivide and categorise this whole post because there are too many separate criteria for... goOD MOVIES, AUUHH 😩

Okay so first off, HORROR MOVIES? I’m especially in love with Re-Animator (1985) and its sequel Bride of Re-Animator, they’re such good examples of camp and batshit 80s practical effects, and also EXTREMELY funny. I’m actually just gonna post my list of my fave horror movies that I do actually keep on my phone at all times lmao. These are in no particular order:

Wholeheartedly recommend every one of these. I’ve never been so scared in my life as I was watching Hereditary in the cinema, hoo boy. Mother! by Aronofsky is one of the strangest experiences I’ve ever had (and I actually saw it on the same day I saw IT ch1 for the first time!! That was a fun day)

Psycho (1960) and The Fly from 1986 should also be on there but I couldn’t fit them in the screenshot.

I’m a HUGE fan of a ton of martial arts movies too, like Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer, Ip Man, The Raid movies, John Wick 3 is my fave of the trilogy, Drive from 1997 with Mark Dacascos is incredible, SPL 2, Ong-Bak, Operation Condor, Project A, Iron Monkey, and Zatoichi (2003) are some favourites.

My favourite Tarantino is Reservoir Dogs, fave Coen brothers are Raising Arizona, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and O Brother Where Art Thou. Love some old-timey colour correction and weird offbeat dialogue. I also love Goodfellas!!! And Donnie Brasco! And The Firm, I’m so easy for any good crime/law/gangster/heist procedural like that, especially if they’re from the 80s or 90s in a super dated way.

Fave Disney movie is Tarzan, favourite Ghibli movies are Spirited Away and Lupin III. I remember watching Spirited Away during a thunderstorm one time and it being.... god! Transcendent! Favourite Pixar movie is The Incredibles (the first one. ALSO the documentary “The Pixar Story” is great and well worth a watch, it’s very comforting for some reason) and my favourite Dreamworks movies are HTTYD1 and Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron.

I tend to watch more anime movies than tv shows, so stuff like Akira, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Journey to Agartha, and my ultimate fave anime is Sword of the Stranger (2008). The climactic fight in that movie is fucking stunning and should be counted in “bests fights” lists right alongside anything live action

Also if we’re talking animated movies another hearty favourite is Rango, and a Belgian stop-motion (which at one time I considered my favourite movie ever) called Panique Au Village (2009) which is one of the funniest movies ever made imo.

As for TRASHY movies, I’m not sure if that’s the right word for how I feel about these ones but.. dumb/silly/slightly guilty pleasure movies? Ones that I feel need some kind of justification lmfao

Troy - something u must know about me is that I’m a giant slut for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, so if a movie smashes historical and mythological nonsense together with fun costumes and sword fights, I’m gonna enjoy myself. Even if they should have made Achilles and Patroclus gay. Other movies in this vein are King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, and Immortals (2011)

Gods of Egypt - I know all the reasons this movie is whitewashed bullshit. But it was already bullshit with giant Anubis mecha and giant snakes and bad acting and ridiculous CGI and frankly I had a blast at the cinema (my friend who I forced to come with me did not have a blast. Sorry H***)

Avatar - yes, the one with the big blue people. This movie gets a lot of flack nowadays but I really do enjoy it just for the spectacle. The full CGI world technology was so new at the time and I love to wallow in the visuals and daydream about riding a cool dragon around in the jungle

George of the Jungle - I’ll defend this movie to the death ok this movie shaped me as a person, it is fucking hilarious and Brendan Fraser is the himbo to end all himbos. It’s perfect. The song Dela is perfect. I still want to write a reddie AU about it. It’s one of the best movies ever made and I’m not being ironic

Set It Up - I KNOW this is a dumb Netflix original romcom but consider this; it was funny and the leads had great chemistry. I got butterflies. I once watched it and then literally immediately set it back to the start so I could watch it again

The Brady Bunch Movie - when people talk about great satires or parodies you will see them bring up the same movies over and over again, Blazing Saddles, This Is Spinal Tap etc, but they never talk about The Brady Bunch Movie from 1995 for some reason, which they should. It is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen and every time i watch it somehow it gets funnier

NOTABLE EXTREME FAVOURITES that I didn’t include in the regular rewatch list because they’re too heavy/not as well known/require more attention.:

Thin Red Line (1998), Badlands (1973) both dir. Terrence Malick

Malick’s brand of dreamy impressionistic filmmaking is something I find really appealing, both of these movies are gorgeous and unusual and poignant and, in the case of Thin Red Line at least, have a lot of things to say about a lot of rough subjects. I don’t totally understand all those things sometimes, but a theme with a lot of my favourite movies is that I’ll be more likely to love something long-term if it raises unanswered questions, or is surreal/esoteric etc. Plus the cinematography is incredible, and I wish there was a way to get Jim Caviezel’s narration from The Thin Red Line as an audiobook because it’s very poetic and soothing.

Let the Bullets Fly (2010) dir. Jiang Wen

This movie is WILD, it’s so much fun. It’s sprawling and intricate and epic and smart and really fucking funny, it! Has! Everything! A gang of very tolerant outlaws!! Jiang Wen’s beautiful broad chest!!! Chow Yun Fat absolutely DECIMATING the scenery, and the two of them outsmarting each other in order to gain control of a small Chinese town!!! Plus it’s long, but it packs so much nonsense and intrigue that it goes by really fast. Wow what a flick

A Field in England (2013) dir. Ben Wheatley

I know I included this in my horror list but aaaaahhh ahhhh Wheatley is one of my favourite directors (he also made Sightseers, and is directing the Tomb Raider sequel which makes me absolutely rabid.) This is a surreal black-and-white psychological horror black comedy set in the English Civil War about some deserters who may or may not meet the Devil in a field. People eat mushrooms. It’s bonkers. I love being blasted in the face with imagery that I don’t understand

Mandy (2018) dir. Panos Cosmatos

Speaking of being blasted in the face!!!!! This movie... I saw it in the cinema and I can’t even begin to explain the experience, but I’ll try. My favourite review site described it like this:

“...somewhere between a prog album cover come to life and a metal album cover come to life, and subscribes to both genre's artistic tendency towards maximalism: what it ends up being is basically naught else but two glorious hours of being pounded by bold colors...”

So, prog and metal are my two favourite genres of music. This movie opens with the quote “When I die, bury me deep, lay two speakers at my feet, put some headphones on my head and rock and roll me when I'm dead.” and then a King Crimson song, it is SURREAL to the nth degree, it’s violent and bizarre and Nic Cage forges a giant silver axe to destroy demonic bikers and there is a CHAINSAW DUEL. A galaxy swirls above a quarry. Multiple animated horror nightmare sequences. At one point a man says “you exude a cosmic darkness” and releases a live tiger. At another point Cage says, in a digitally deepened voice, “The psychotic drowns where the mystic swims. You’re drowning. I’m swimming.” and I haven’t stopped thinking about it for two years

Paper Moon (1973) dir. Peter Bogdanovich

Really fantastic movie set in the Great Depression (and also in black & white) about a conman and a little kid who may or may not be his daughter, running cons across the Midwest. It’s beautifully shot, so sharp and sweet and the progression of their dynamic is really well done because they’re played by an IRL father and daughter. Tatum O’Neal was NINE YEARS OLD and she’s so amazing in this movie she’s actually the youngest person to win a competitive category Oscar. I keep trying to get people to watch this fbdjfjdbf it’s wonderful

Alpha (2018) dir. Albert Hughes

THIS MOVIE IS A VICTIM OF BAD MARKETING ok, the trailers made it look like some twee crappy sentimental Boy And His Dog Adventure, plus it had voiceovers in American-accented english? That’s a total disservice to one of the coolest things about this film; the fact that they got a linguist to construct an entirely original Neolithic language that all the characters speak for the entire runtime. And yes, it is eventually a Boy And His Wolf adventure, but it’s COOL and fairly brutal, and it has some really incredible cinematography. The landscapes are so strange and barren and alien, you really get the sense that this is an ancient world we no longer have any connection to. And it’s also about like, the birth of dog & human companionship sooo it’s perfect.

Free Solo (2018) dir. Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, Jimmy Chin

The Free Climbing Documentary. I loved climbing as a kid, I love outdoor sports, and I love movies that elicit a physical reaction in me, whether that’s horny, scared, real laughter, overwhelming shivers, or in the case of Free Solo - HORRIBLE SWEATING TENSION. Like, I knew about Alex Honnold beforehand because of this adventure film festival I go to every year and I followed him on IG so obviously I knew he lived, but the actual climb itself was torture. My hands sweat every time I see it!! It’s incredible, such a cool look into generally what the human body can do, and more specifically, why Honnold’s psychology and life means he’s so well suited to free soloing. It’s such an exercise in getting to know an individual and get invested in them, before they attempt something very potentially fatal.

Brokeback Mountain (2005) dir. Ang Lee

I can’t even talk about this. When I was around 13 I snuck downstairs to watch this on TV at 11pm in secret, and my life was forever changed. I wouldn’t be who I am if I hadn’t seen Brokeback at the age I did. I seriously can’t talk about this or I’ll write an even longer essay than this already is

God’s Own Country (2017) dir. Francis Lee

The antidote to Brokeback Mountain, I’m so glad I managed to see this one in the cinema too. It makes me cry every time, as someone who’s spent years working on a cold British farm with sheep it was very realistic, which is expected since Lee grew up on a farm in Yorkshire. I love that this movie isn’t really about being closeted, but about being so emotionally repressed and self-loathing that the main character finds it so hard to accept love. Or that he deserves to be loved. The cinnamontographies.... lordt... but also the intimacy and sex scenes are fucking searing wow who hasn’t seen this movie by now. 10 stars. 20 stars!!!

Tomboy (2011) dir. Céline Sciamma

I saw this years ago but I’ve never forgotten it, it cut so deep. It’s from the director of Portrait of a Lady on Fire and it’s about a gnc kid struggling with gender and misogyny and homophobia in a really raw, scrappy way, it reminded me very much of my own... childhood... ahh the central performance is amazing for such a young age. I haven’t seen Portrait yet but I feel like if you went nuts for that, you should definitely check this out, it’s lovely.

Donnie Darko (2001) dir. Richard Kelly

EVERY TIME I WATCH THIS MOVIE I UNDERSTAND LESS AND LESS and that’s what I love so much about it. I love surreal movies, I love time-fuckery and stuff about altered perception etc etc and Donnie Darko scratches all my itches. I wish I could find a way to figure out an IT AU for it, because I know it would work! Somehow! Plus it’s got the subdued 80s nostalgia and I found it at an age when I was really starting to explore movies and music and the soundtrack FUCKS.

Offside (2006) dir. Jafar Panahi

I wish more people knew about this!!! It’s an Iranian film about a disparate group of women and girls who are football fans and want to watch Iran’s qualifying match for the World Cup, but women aren’t allowed into the stadium, so they all get thrown into the Stadium Jail together? They don’t know each other beforehand, but it’s about their changing relationships with each other and the guards and just, their defiance alongside hearing the match from the outside and WOW it’s so lively. Great dialogue and very funny, and such a different kind of story from anything you usually see from Hollywood.

The Fall (2006) dir. Tarsem Singh

This movie... I guess it’s the ideal. This is the platonic ideal of a film for me, it has fantasy, magical realism, glorious visuals, amazing score and costumes and production design and a really interesting, heartbreaking relationship at the core of it. I don’t know why so many of my favourite films feature incredibly raw performances by child actors but this is another one, Catinca Untaru barely knew any English and improvised so much because of that, and it’s fascinating to watch! Also the dynamic with Lee Pace is one of my favourites, where a kid forms a friendship with a guardian figure who isn’t their parent, but the guardian grows to really care for them by the end. It’s like Paper Moon in that sense. What is there to even say about this movie, it’s pure magic joy tempered and countered by genuine gutwrenching emotional conflict in the real world, it’s also ABOUT old moviemaking, in a way, and it’s stunning to look at!

Mad Max Fury Road (2015) dir. George Miller

I know I included this in my “most rewatched” section but it deserves its own thing. We all know why this movie is fucking incredible. I remember clutching my armrests in the cinema and feeling like my skeleton was being blasted back into the seat behind me and tbh that is the high I’m constantly chasing when I go to see any movie. What a fucking gift this film is

Théo et Hugo dans le Même Bateau (2016) dir. Olivier Ducastel, Jacques Martineau

I only found this movie last year and it became an instant favourite. Initially I was just curious because I’d never seen a movie with unsimulated sex before, but it’s so much more than the 18 minute gay sex club orgy it opens with. No, not more than, AS WELL AS. The orgy is important because this movie is so candid and frank about sex and HIV treatment in the modern day, it was eye-opening. Another thing that really got me is that I’d never seen a real-time film before. It’s literally an hour and a half in the lives of these two men, their intense connection and conversation and conflict in the middle of the night in Paris, with some really nice night photography and just!!! Wow!!! AMAZING CHEMISTRY between the actors. This is such a gem if you’re comfortable with explicit sexual content.

Ok. This is already over 3k but film is obviously one of my ridiculous passions and I can and do talk about it for hours. I’ve been reading magazines about it for years, listening to podcasts and reading review blogs and recently, watching video essays on YouTube because the whole process is so interesting to me and I want to learn more!!

Recently I’ve been thinking a lot about the concept of valuing form over narrative. The idea that story can often come second to the deeper physical experience and emotional reaction that’s created by using ALL the elements of filmmaking and not just The Story, y’know? Whether that’s editing, shot composition, colour, the sound mix, the actors, how it should all be used to heighten the emotional state the script wants you to feel. And so, I think for a few years now this approach has been influencing the types of films I really, really love.

I think I love surreality and mind-bending magical realism in films specifically because the filmmakers have to use all those different tools to convey things that can be way too metaphysical for just... a script? I’m always chasing that physical response; if a movie can make me stop thinking “I wonder what it was like to set up that shot” and instead overwhelm that suspension of disbelief, if I can be terrified or woozy or crying for whatever reason, that’s what I’m looking for. That’s why I watch so many fuckin movies, and why I’ll always remember nights like seeing IT (2017) for giving me another favourite.

Although for TR (tumbleranch) students, they seem to have mixed feelings towards their dorm head. They have respected him taking the huge responsibility of taking care in good hands while trying to discipline them before doing anything dangerous and do promise he’d make the dorm a better place for a new coming of students to feel at ease and enjoy the life here as shown how much work he’d put through for a leader

Well.....that wouldn’t be wicked for him to do. Don’t get him wrong, he’s not the type of person who’d want himself to be involved in danger like all of Tumbleranch would, and besides he’s honestly would never become one of them. Not entirely fond with rebels but he’s kind enough not to spoil everyone’s crazy fun time, permitting them to do unnecessary things just as much as they want but not too far (people stated him to be called “Boss” of the organization because Ferd does act like one) meanwhile students were frightened by him because of his fury & sadistic nature. His speeches will change to violent containing hurtful or insensitive remarks, subconsciously murmurs with a head full clouded of harsh punishments and using his favorite weapon to threaten others off with just a smile but usually, he’d chose to smack the heads of those who disobeyed, anger, or upset him, that’s all. Not to mention he’d be more infuriating if anyone say YODEL SUCKS in front of him. With hardheadedness around, he thought of being the leader would likely take over the herd but didn't expect this to turn out frustrating and troublesome to deal with than he ever imagine

BACKGROUND

Born in a political family. He’s the only child living with his parents growing up in high-class society. Being pampered and groomed by maids and butlers everyday and his personality were different from before mainly he used to be so obedient towards his parents. His father is the mayor from his hometown “Town of Iron Pistol” while his mother is a sophisticated noblewoman from a noble family. Most of Ferd’s relatives, his father side, were well known and respectable politicians working part as the supreme democratic parties. His father wanted his son’s future to follow his footsteps as taking the position of deputy mayor and soon after, being as mayor once he grown to be a fine adult, one day. So during his childhood, both his parents decided to take Ferd in homeschooling and hired finest tutors giving him much proper educations of along with magic training living up to his life with no distractions in playing outside, nor with children, and nor meaningless children activities but books and learning mannerism then soon to realize Ferd felt nothing but bored and dissatisfied what his parent’s contribute to him. Few months later, the family went traveling for business and that time, Ferd happened to listen to country music for the first time by visiting to a concert. Young Ferd was contented by the music dreaming himself to be the famous country celebrity someday. Playing music and yodeling his heart out which is his first time feeling the excitement more passionate about it however none of his were parents approved of it. They thought it’s just a children’s fantasy and doubt their son’s dream becoming a country singer will ever come true and besides, they did the trouble raising him to be a successful son and it was right of them for their son to be one of the public parties just like their family. His dad was upset about Ferd and wouldn’t support his son’s dream by using his force to take away his instruments also forbids him to yodel. Despite the cruel punishment, Ferd had already made up his mind of pursuing his passionate dream, proving he can and will become a country celebrity. Time goes by, his relationship with his family are a bit complicated and constantly argue each other. Starting his college year at NRC, he decided to fake his own background. Lying to everyone believing he was an ordinary orphan who happened to got adopted by a loving and supportive family raised up to be hardworking, intelligent, and passionate boy he was and used that to hide his spoiled rich life behind. None of people of NRC even his dorm members know he’s a noble

So after nearly two years of running this blog, I’ve finally gotten around to writing an ‘About Me’ post. Honestly, I don’t know how interesting this will be to some of you, but here it is! Thanks for coming along for the ride!

I got into KPop some time back in my high school years, around the time that Suju’s ‘Sorry, Sorry’ came out. I remember being obsessed with it and eventually expanding into other groups there! KPop and Korean entertainment were a large part of my college years and still is now, though its role is a bit different! It’s harder for me to keep up with every single KPop release now, but I’m not opposed to learning about new groups and their music!

As far as my writing is concerned, I’ve been writing since my early teens. I actually started off writing in more of a roleplay format, and didn’t write my first actual chaptered story until maybe... 17? Back then I wrote a lot for Jaejoong. I will not be linking those. They are embarrassing and should stay unknown.

I also wrote sporadically throughout college for a handful of groups (mainly U-KISS, B.A.P, ZE:A, and EXO (yes, I’ve been an exo-l since debut, oh boy)) but I had to stop when my coursework got particularly busy. It wasn’t until Produce 101 Season 2, when Ong Seongwu popped into my life, that I felt the inspiration to write again! I’ve really been enjoying my writing journey since! There have been things I haven’t been super happy with, but it’s all just working towards something better, right? :D

When I’m not writing, you’ll find me doing a multitude of other crafty things. I love to draw, and it’s a passion of mine that I never really got to explore. I’m always drawing when I can and sometimes I’ll make them into cute little things like pins :3 If I’m not drawing then you’ll find me neck-deep in video games. One of my faves growing up was Final Fantasy X! Hence the Yuna gif above! ^^ I also play a lot of mobile games, so if that’s also your thing, let me know XD

As much as I would like to work on writing all day, I do have a day job, though I love what I do! I work in video games, which to me, is a dream come true as it allows me to work on something that I love dearly. It’s not always fun, but it’s very rewarding in its own way. My job is a bit more technical, so I get to use that Computer Science degree that I worked so hard for, while also having artistic elements. It’s a really nice balance!

Recycle Brief Evaluation

1. What was the project theme and what did you think of it?

The Recycle Brief i was quite nervous for until i got into studio and strated making my sets, i had a vision for what i wanted to do, but didnt know how i was going to exacute my images, i really wanted to do something softer rather than gritty and industrial and using textures and depth

2. What part of the project did you enjoy the most/found most interesting (making the photographs? Optimising images? printing?)

I really enjoyed building sets, using different textures and making a final composit

3. What new techniques have you experienced?

I have definetly learnt alot about light and the value of what it means in a photograph, i have also learnt alot more about photoshop and keeping files neat and tidy while making my workflow

4. What technique would you like to develop further?

I would like to develop the painting with light technique further on night projects that appear in erik johannson and harold ross's work.

5. Which photographers did you research throughout this project?

I looked at Julie Powers work and Erik Johannsons work and how they are masters of light and this style of photography.

6. How have they influenced your photographs?

Looking at This kind of fine art has made me look at photography a different way as it was not really in my intrest but now i appricate this type of art and realise the time and effort that goes into the final effect

7. Which technique did you enjoy the most?

I really enjoyed shooting and making my set and how the composit slowly comes togther i found working on it takes a ong time for the outcome to really work.

8. What do you feel is the most successful part of your project and Did you encounter any problems in your project?

I defintely needed alot more time for my work this semster and found it hard to keep up with this workload, and felt like carrying the sets really made me stressed i think the most succesfull part would be my layout of set and am quite happy how sharp the images are.

10. How did you learn from them and how did they affect your final images?

I learnt to use light differently and i think this really helped me develop my final photographs

11. What would you do differently given the chance to complete the project again?

I would like a chance to do more cmpositing as it took me a really long time to get the hang of it i felt like i needed a chance to catch up and make it work

12. Discuss any technical issues with your final images? (Focus, sharpness, exposure, highlight/shadow detail, )

I had issues with some camera movement and keeping my work all the same as i had ghost like layers that did not align while editing

This was a huge first for you • the bell finally rang and Minki had to shake you out of your oblivion • the sides of your forearms were neatly decorated with Midliner ink, signed by Choi Minki • ‘huh?’ • ‘let’s go! We’ll be late for chemistry!’ • I sense chemistry between my secret admirer and me • THIS MUST BE A SIGN • THEY MUST BE IN MY CHEMISTRY CLASS • your sneakers slap against the tiles, the sound of the impact echoing down the hallway as you race towards the laboratory • dishevelled, you and Minki arrive just before your teacher does and you scramble to take a seat • both of you end up sharing a bench with Hwang Minhyun and Kim Jaehwan, right behind Kang Daniel, Ong Seongwoo, Ha Sungwoon and Yoon Jisung • HYUNG LINE • Minhyun texts you often so you don’t have any qualms with sharing a bench • he just doesn’t have any shared classes with you or Minki, or Aron,,,or Dongho this term :((( • but, intimidation creeps upon you when you realise you’re surrounded by members of a popular clique in school • Minki is friends with all of them so he pays no mind and probably doesn’t sense your ‘I’M FREAKING OUT’ signal • however, as soon as class starts, you’re back to meddling with your suspicions on who the letter sender is • suddenly, your ears pick up soft taps on your bench and you’re snapped back to reality • or is it? • because Kang Daniel, turned his seat around to face you, eyes twinkling with a smile • ‘hi, uh...could I borrow your periodic table for a second? I forgot mine in my locker.’ he asks, ears reddening the slightest bit • still entranced by his gorgeous features and suave tone, you absent-mindedly hand him your print out, not realising you’re checking him out • what a view • I could stir up some chemistry between me and you • *holds up stirrer* • enough puns pls they’re so bad anyway • his eyes scan over it for a second before he writes down his answer and returns the paper back to you • ‘thank you! oh, I’m Kang Daniel, by the way.’ • SWOON • cue Minki and Minhyun’s amused, muffled giggles • ‘oooh heHeHEhEHehE >:)’ • you introduce yourself • then return to work • but your eyes sweep over Daniel’s desk, and it seems as if he’s hard at work, penning something down • it doesn’t have anything to do with chemistry • because he wrote the title as ‘the love I want to confess’ • OH • MY • GOODNESS • !!!!!!! • brain: stop stop stop!! It doesn’t necessarily mean ANYTHING! DON’T MAKE A FOOL OUT OF YOURSELF • yeah, you decide to listen to your head, pulling your lips into a tight smile as you try to refocus your attention on your worksheet • Minki wants to stab you in the heart with a stray pair of vernier calipers he found • probably from a physics class kid who walked into the wrong lab and dropped it • you don’t die and make it back safely • at home, you keep the letter, tucking it away from prying and curious family • hope rises as you fall into bed and pull the covers over your head • but no letters are present in your locker the next day • and the next • and the next • ....and the next • until, one day, you don’t expect anything anymore • studies have taken over most of your thoughts • you’re just about ready to go prom outfit shopping with your friends when you remembered you had left your notes in your locker • an identical envelope tumbled out of your locker • it landed on the floor with a loud thud • or was the sound from your heart? • again, I shall reveal a small portion if this confession • ‘getting ready for the big day already? well I hope you’ll only be dancing with me.’ • ‘never worry about my identity, you’re inching closer to me everyday.’ • more clues • well, recently, you had made friends with a transfer student, Jeon Heejin, hung out after school with Minki and Aron and gotten Kang Daniel’s number • on Thursday afternoon, Dongho and Kyulkyung had invited you to go bowling and that was how you spent your afternoon • hm • at least you managed to form a group of suspects • it had to be one of them • there was only time left to wait and see • 1 week and 4 days before prom,,, • I’m sorry I’m skipping over a lot of plot development and elaboration :((( • this time was different, the sealed envelope was waiting for you on your desk • and it just happened that you running late that day, stuffing your breakfast sandwich into your mouth as you dashed to your table, shoelaces untied and uniform unkempt • you paid the latest love letter no mind, tossing it into the bottom of your school bag, it lay there, forgotten • until,,, • ‘hi, do you have the textbook? a/n: requested by an anon!! it’s short and idk if it makes sense but i hope you like it!!

not to over-exaggerate but final exams week are killing every brain cells you have to be honest and it’s unavoidable

and this happens in every semester, with you in the library, mentally crying and struggling with whatever you had to revise on

but you’re glad that you’re not alone with that when you see a bunch of students around you doing the same thing, mostly similar people who sits at the same exact spots

you could see two girls who you assumed are close friends, sitting at this table on your right, a couple that sits further front (that tends to look like they’re flirting than studying) and this guy who always sits a table in front of you

that particular guy has always been there with his stack of books, which you guessed he’s an theater and art student, at the exact same seat like how you do every semester

you never figure out his name though, but you do take a peek at him whenever you’re just aimlessly staring around

he’s handsome and seems like he’s very hardworking because he never looks away from his book. his hand is always writing something on papers and it’s simply admirable

on rare occasions, he would look up from his book to see you and it’s usually when you’re leaving the library and he would smile a little, and you smile back and that small gesture could make you feel nice for the night

and that rare occasion has happen tonight, when you finally pack your books to end the night from the library and head home

you see the guy smiling at you, his head nod at you once before going back to look at his book

you smile, as you pass by him and goes to exit the library

your walk to your home is actually a little far but manageable and you’re kinda used to it

but you had always hated whenever you have to walk pass this one bar and there would drunk people around

you tend to walk really fast whenever you’re about to pass that area and you would always escape it successfully

but to your bad luck, it seems like tonight is different because there’s three guys approaching you and it didn’t take you that long to notice that they’re drunk

and you’re trying to walk really fast but your legs are super tired and you couldn’t walk that fast and you just hope they would leave you alone

but as you walk further down to your home, you could hear their laugh and whispers behind you and you knew you’re being followed

you panic and you’re thinking of ways to get away from them but you’re actually scared of these people and you’re afraid that if you run, you would get chase and something might happen

so you stop your tracks and you turn around to see the three drunk guys smiling wickedly to you and it’s disgusting

your heart is beating really hard and you make a deep breath before you furrowing your eyebrows angrily, “stay away from me”

one of the guys chuckle, moving closer to you as you back away from him, “a feisty one, i like that”

you’re honestly so bothered by them and the other two guys approach you closer too and you’re surrounded by them and you feel so intimidated

your eyes are teary up and you want to cry for help but there’s no one around at that neighborhood

one of them starts to touch your face and you’re resisting from him bringing your face closer to him and you try to kick them but it’s useless

you turn so weak when they hold onto you roughly and you’re getting more afraid when the other guy touches your thigh

“don’t worry, we’ll take care of you”

and you thought that’s the end of you and you’re a crying mess

but then you see the guy in front you being pulled to the back by the collar and he stumbles down on the ground

your eyes shut close as you feel your hand being let go, and then the other hand as well

you hear noises of punches and groans and you’re crying a lot more because you hated to hear those

and then it stops after you hear footsteps running away from you, and your eyes are still close and you could feel another presence of a person in front of you and you just want to run but your body is too weak already

and you feel your shaky body being hugged softly and you’re about to scream but then the person pats your back, his breathing makes you a little calmer than before

“you’re okay now”

it’s a new voice for you and you finally open your eyes and look up slowly

and it’s that guy who smiles at you in the library and your mind becomes curious of him but you didn’t care about that now

because you also finally feel safe around his embrace and you’re hugging him back tightly while sobbing and you’re so, so glad he had saved you on time

“thank you so much” you mumble on his hoodie and he says nothing but still patting your back soothingly

“may i know your name?” you’re still crying a little and he chuckles at how cute you are

“ong seongwoo”

“after few semesters passed, i finally get to know your name”

“because you never asked”

“and why do you think i want to ask you”

“because you always look at me”

and you look up to see seongwoo smiling at you and your heart is beating fast because he looks so handsome up close with that smile and you couldn’t believe you’re still hugging him

so you just back away from him with your blushy cheeks on your face and you’re like “i don’t look at you”

“really?”

and he has this cheeky smile on his face and you just want to wipe it off but he’s still the one that saved you so you let it go

“okay fine, i do look at you but it’s just a second”

“i’m glad”

“you’re glad...?”

“at least i’m not the only one looking at the person in front of me in the library”

and you feel more rush of heat on your face after he said that and you’re struggling to not get embarrassed

seongwoo laughs, his face comes a little closer to you, “so what’s your name?”

and you blink at the sudden closeness, suddenly forgetting what is your name but you quickly process that question in your head and you tell him your name

seongwoo nods his head, and you finally had a question wandering in your head, “how did you know i was here?”

he looks surprised but he’s still smiling at you, “you left one of your books on the table and it took me a while to realized that so i left the library to find you after a minute or so.... then i got a little lost.... but i found this pathway which i didn’t know why but my instinct just wants me to go there.... and then i found you with those stupid drunkheads messing around with you and here i am”

“i should probably thanked my book instead of you then”

seongwoo gasps dramatically and you laugh because he’s so funny yet cute and he laughs with you

“i have a suggestion” he says suddenly and you rise your eyebrows in curiosity

“why not i walk you home from now on?”

“you want to walk me home....?”

“yes. it’s safer and i can protect you from anything”

and you couldn’t figure out why but the word ‘protect’ and ‘you’ makes you have this tingling feeling in your body like you feel really happy but then you don’t know what to answer him back

“ong seongwoo as the savior and protector of y/n. how does that sound?”

“pretty lame, seongwoo”

“it’s not lame” you see him pout cutely and you tiptoe to ruffle his hair and he’s surprised

“okay, my savior and protector ong seongwoo, you may lead the way”

he smiles at you happily and moves forward but then he stops and turn around, “i don’t know where your house is”

“....right”

and you both laugh together and it’s cute and you both just look like drunk people who keeps joking around and laughing at the area

but to be honest maybe you both are just drunk in love with each other ;)

You started a cafe after graduating barista(?)uni

You employed a past classmate named Ong Seongwoo

You remembered him as Kang Daniel’s friend

Kang Daniel…..

He was a mess

You were partnered up with him a couple of times in high school for projects and such but then WOWZERS

You see him at your uni

You don’t know how that happened since you actually moved out of town to go to the barista college, but you guess Daniel wanted to go there too

You hated Daniel bc he basically ruined your life

He would always somehow mess up your experiments whenever he was your partner

But for some reason all your teachers partnered the two of you together?????

Anyways

when you opened up your own coffee shop and hired Seongwoo, he had brought Daniel along with him

Daniel was employed at this other shop but he decided to quit since they weren’t paying him that well even if he had a barista license and all

With no choice you hired Daniel to work at your place

Tbh his coffee was amazing

Not too bitter and not too bland

It was perfect

He attracts way more customers than barista!Seongwoo

He has good skills and good looks

Who can say no to that?

He also looked

And when he’s focusing on a really hard recipe or something and all you can see in his eyes is determination

The problem was that he was really clumsy

He broke the machines at least twice a week

Like how is that even possible!?

After the fifth time he broke it the last month, you decided to take the maintenance expenses from his salary

But that didn’t really do anything

About a week ago, you spent an hour putting up ornaments on the ceiling by the window

Daniel comes in for his shift and he’s always easily amazed by things and he touches the ornaments hanging down

You shout in surprise “WAIT! THE STRINGS ARE REALLY-”

Then the strings holding up the ornaments snap and they end up on the floor as shattered glass pieces

So much for that hour

He always says he’ll be more careful, but it’s always the same

You can’t really hate him tho bc he’s always so nice to you in general

And he won’t

Anyway

You thought Daniel would fail in working

But you found out that he actually work really hard and manages to have a smile on his face whenever taking orders, serving ppl, and just everywhere/everything he does

You sorta kinda TOTALLY fell in love w/him and his personality

Even when his shift ends, he stays an extra two or three hours just helping you out bc he’s supposed to leave right before rush time

And he doesn’t want you and Seongwoo to be suffering from the impatient customers

So he stays extra but he ends up staying until closing time and helps you clean and close up the store

an angel i swear

Then he walks you home

SQUEEE

You always tell him to go home since it was always almost midnight and his shift starts at 6am

But he stays stubborn and insists he walks you home since it’s dangerous

Aww

And when you get home, he smiles his gummy smile, his eyes disappearing

“Good night, Y/N! Sweet dreams!”

Like girl how are you NOT head over heels for him yet

And you also noticed he stays in front of your house until some of your lights go on, knowing you’re safe inside

Do ppl do that??

I can’t he’s so sweet

He actually tries to walk you to the shop in the morning, but he just can’t wake up no matter how hard he tries lol

So he always beats himself up about his sleeping habits, but it’s all good

You wouldn’t want him to be falling asleep while handling hot coffee anyway

The day your small crush on him just shoots upwards is the day when your ex comes into the shop

You were at the register bc Daniel was packing up his stuff to get ready to go home (even if he was gonna stay till closing) and Seongwoo was running late as usual

Then in comes Minhyuk your ex-bf who cheated on you a few months back

You felt like you couldn’t function bc you realized Minhyuk was sort of a creep

thank goodness you found out about his true self b4 it went too far

He came at the time when there were no customers

and wow lucky you

No one else to be taking the register either

“Hey, Y/N…..What’s up?”

He does a sly grin and you feel like throwing up

Minhyuk notices it’s just you and him in the shop, so he uses that to his advantage

When Daniel hears “Get away from me!” from the employee room

He drops down his backpack and rushes out to see a guy, on the “employees only” side, seeming to harass you

And oh hoho

He ain’t having none of that

Daniel roughly pushes Minhyuk away from you and throws a punch at his jaw

You run up behind Daniel and pull him away b4 he gets too agitated bc Seongwoo once told you how Daniel shouldn’t be messed with and when he gets mad….HE GETS MAAAADDD

Daniel immediately calms down and turns around to ask if you’re okay while grabbing your shoulders, looking at your arms and face

You assure him like ten times that you’re okay and he turns back to Minhyuk and gives him the scariest glare that gives you chills

Daniel’s voice goes like twenty octaves deeper when telling him to get lost and never show up in front of you again

After that incident, you never saw Minhyuk again and you cannot stop staring how angelic Daniel is

So charismatic *squeals*

He likes you too, if you didn’t notice, and he accidentally confesses to you while cooing at some mistake you did

“OMG Y/N. This is why I love you so much!”

“....”

“....did I say that outloud?”

You start dating and it’s so cute

During your short breaks, Daniel whips up a latte and draws all these cute hearts on it since he’s really good at latte art AND making lattes

Daniel doesn’t even pack up anymore and works for the whole entire day

Getting more love AND more money

You should’ve given him that raise earlier

Bc instead of Daniel’s cute smirk it’s Ong’s meme face looking down at you

But now Seongwoo doesn’t do those types of pranks bc Daniel lowkey highkey gets jealous

Did i mention Daniel smells like coffee?

I love the smell of coffee

When he wraps you in a bear hug b4 sending you in your home, a whiff of coffee hits you

Sometimes you wonder if he wears coffee scented perfume bc it’s oddly really strong

it’s weird bc Daniel actually doesn’t enjoy coffee and he drinks it like once a year

....

It shall remain a mystery

when guys kiss, he tastes like coffee

and when walking you back home, you wear his sweaters
