i think ppl kinda miss the point of why pink femme girl power aesthetics are empowering to some women, and this isnt specifically about the barbie movie bc i havent seen it so idk how its gonna pull the whole thing off, but it has definitely sparked a lot of discourse around this. but its not about "telling girls its ok to be feminine" because of course the society already pushes femininity onto women. its just that women are devalued, and women are devalued no matter what they do, however femininity is FOR women and it is because of that association with women that femininity is also devalued (regardless of gender, but even when performed by women). it is an expectation, but it is taken for granted. like for example it is expected for women to do makeup and care about fashion, however it is simultaneously taken as something shallow and frivolous to have as an interest or hobby, and people who point out that it actually takes a lot of skill and artistry are dismissed and brushed off. and again this is a skill that is just expected that all women will have! and celebrating femininity, in for example movies like legally blonde, is saying that no, there is inherent value in this thing, there is inherent value and skill and use in having traditionally feminine hobbies, feminine women had to work and femininity doesnt make someone lesser. and when we accept these as their own skills, hobbies, interests, hopefully we can also separate them from womanhood, and we can accept women as, yknow, their natural state. femininity is an action and it has value but women should damn well opt out of it if they want to.

As some of you know, my main project currently in development is yet to release. I have been and still am the only person working on it, in charge from things like code and music to art and voice acting. It is just a passion project of mine and was never funded, and so far I've been developing it on a negative budget.

I have currently hit a wall where I want to do bigger things for the game but can't - I simply can't afford it. For example, inviting voice actors to do some lines for it. I feel hesitant to ask money for an unreleased project, so I've decided to instead make this little game in collaboration with wonderful ghost-realms to fund Online Obsession and help us financially.

It all started under a duvet held up by an oar

Not so long ago I emailed Chris Tester, the voice of Heinrix van Calox in Owlcat’s recently released CRPG Rogue Trader, and asked if he would like to sit for an interview with me. Having some experience in interviewing people I like, most famously Oscar winner and all-around sweetheart Eddie Redmayne, this was not a completely nerve-wracking endeavour. And within a day of sending my email, Chris said yes. And what a pleasure it was interviewing him: Chris was so generous with his time, that the agreed upon 30 minutes turned into 50 minutes as we brushed upon many topics from his start as a theatre actor to his first voice-over role in a video game to his recently discovered hobby of playing D&D. Of course, we also spoke about all things Warhammer 40k, his new found fame brought on by voicing Heinrix and the insights he could share about the character.

Fran: Thank you very much for taking your time.

Chris Tester: That's no problem. No problem at all.

F: So then let's start. You graduated in 2008.

CT: I did. Yes.

F: You started out as a stage actor. Did you always want to become a stage actor or an actor in general? Tell us a bit about your career.

CT: I always wanted to be a stage actor. Yes, as soon as I knew that I wanted to be an actor, which probably wasn't until I was a teenager. But yeah, my first passion was always the stage, and that was kind of borne out in my career. I would have been open to TV and film of course, if it had come along, I'm a huge fan of TV and film as well, but I never got an audition for any TV or film work.

I think I literally did about three short films in my 10, 12 years of actually professionally acting, and it is one of those industries where the more you do of one thing, the more you seem to find yourself doing the same thing to a degree. So yes, watching Shakespeare from an early age was one of my first passions.

And that was what first planted the seed of wanting to do it myself. The whole aspect of live performance is still something that I'm very passionate about. Up until 2020, when the world changed, I was trying to do two or three theatre shows a year, but since 2020, I haven't been near a stage and I doubt right now, especially with the way that the UK theatre scene is going, that I'm going to be back on stage anytime soon. I am resigned to that, but at some point in my career, I know I will be on stage again, because I can't live without it, but only for the right thing, both financially, but more importantly, creatively.

F: Your production company is currently on hiatus?

CT: I was the producer of a theatre company, which was run and was the baby of the director of the company, a guy called Ross Armstrong, who's one of the most talented writers and directors that I've ever worked with. I was helping out with a lot of the administration stuff so that he could still put me in plays. Instead of creating my own work because I'm not a very good writer or the best writer in the world, I support those people who will write me good parts. So yes, it is currently on hiatus, but never say never, we would always be looking to get back. It's difficult right now. It's difficult for all of us, because arts council subsidy, that way of being able to fund stuff, is drying up. We were doing a national tour of the UK when we were doing that [with the support of a subsidy]. There's even less money, there's even more people. I won't bore you with anything more than that, but it's kind of tough. We'd like to come back, but in the right way, and that's tricky to negotiate.

F: It's always hard as a stage actor to earn a living.

CT: Well, I've been spoiled by voice-over as well, and whereas when I was in my 20s and 30s then you're all about your art. And of course, I'm still all about my art, but I'm also about my wife and my cat and the mortgage and the bills and wanting to have nicer things to a degree as well. I've come to terms with that and voice-over does facilitate that as well as it opens you up to different roles and working with different people. So, I can't complain.

F: It's quite similar with making a living as a writer, because with a steady income you get used to a certain standard of living and once you have obligations and bills to pay, I think the stress on your mental health being creative and having all the stresses of regular life thrust upon you brings with it a challenge.

CT: It's a cliche we can very easily fall into: if I'm suffering, then it means I'm an artist. And that's not necessarily very true. It very often means that the art that we create only reflects one aspect of our lives, and it's usually a very tortured one. I am also about having wider experiences and broadening myself out. Whereas I think when I was in my twenties, I was thinking a bit more like: Oh, I'll experience the world and life through my art and just purely through my art. Whereas now necessarily I need to have a life outside of it as well, and then I can justify like I have the life so that I can feed my art or not, whatever. You know, I'll be a better artist by having a bit of a life outside of it. Maybe.

F: But that's what your twenties are for.

CT: Yeah, indeed.

F: Doing the crazy stuff, doing the band stuff 

CT: Yeah, yeah, exactly. So, there was certainly an aspect of that in my twenties.

F: So, what brought you to voice acting or voice-over work initially?

CT: Money. Video game stuff is kind of sexy and cool, and I'm a gamer, so that's important. Before I was a video gamer, I was a board gamer and off the back of that, I was a voracious video gamer, partly because I wasn't very good at team sports at school. I was always the person who was picked last in the football team. So that becomes part of your identity for better or worse. But video games, I was pretty good at, not amazing, but I was pretty good at, and I enjoyed it. And it gave me a different form of escapism as well, and off the back of that I always had an interest in them. 

So, the very first voiceover job was a video game: Dark Souls, which is quite a big franchise. At that time, I was your very typically jobbing actor. My acting agent came in and said: I got something for you. And so, I went in with that. But it was only in 2016, 2017 that I realised it was something that you could actually do yourself. People had recording studios at home and they were contacting people directly, not just going through agents. Because I'd basically written to the same 20 voice agents in the UK, mainly in London for like eight years in a row and not received anything. So, you keep knocking on those doors hoping. 

Before I'd even graduated from drama school, I'd burnt a CD and made these cases with my headshot on it and sent them all off at what at the time felt like great personal expense and didn't get anything for eight years in a row.  So, I was a bit like, I'm obviously doing something wrong, but I don't really know what, because I'm doing these workshops and getting good feedback. Then I found out through a couple of online courses, that there were ways and means of doing it myself, and that was a bit of a game changer for me, and within six months of having started, I was earning more through voice work than the bar job and the box office job that I was doing combined. Within six months, I was kind of like: “I gotta quit because I'm actually holding myself back from things.” So that was quite a big shift.

F: Somewhere you said, you started out under a duvet and with an oar.

CT: Yeah. On my website, I do have an image of it. [Dear reader, I could not locate this elusive photo] I literally had to take the duvet off my bed and put it into the living room, which was the quietest space in my then shared flat. I also had to wait until after one flat mate had watched TV and another one had used the table that had their washing on it. One of my flat mates had stolen an oar from some night out and that was perfect in order to be able to erect it over my head and the duvet as a frame. 

I did probably the first four or five months of voice recording like that. Probably about 10, 15 voiceover jobs that I actually got paid for, I was using that because it worked well enough. Since then, I've gone through various different iterations of a setup in the bedroom, to a setup in the hallway, to my current setup. In 2020 we moved to our first house, and this is the spare bedroom which I've had converted into a studio, which means my cat can be here asleep on me or near me getting fur everywhere, but it's fine. I can thrash around and I've got natural light to work in at the same time, which I find quite important. [Pictured below Chris' current setup.]

F: Very pretty. That's good. Guide us through a typical day of yours, if you like.

CT: Oh, sure. I mean, there is no typical day. And yet, and yet, and yet. A typical day for me is, because I am spending the vast majority of the day sitting in this room or somewhere close to this room, because I may need to record at short notice, because the vast majority of jobs are quite short notice. My priority is exercise for mental health more than anything. I've got some weights at the bottom of the garden, and I will get up first thing, and I will go there and I will do that after breakfast. And that's my minimal routine of physical activity done. 

And then I'll come back, and this is so rock and roll. Now what I do is, I spend like an hour on LinkedIn. And that's what you dreamed of as a creative person. Isn't it as an actor? I spend time on LinkedIn regularly every day, because it's a really good networking place for a lot of my types of work, and first thing in the morning, I'm a bit mentally sharper. So that's when I come up with a quick post that may be inspired by a bit of content that I've made elsewhere. That probably takes about 20 minutes and then I spend another 45 minutes to an hour engaging with people and saying hi and introducing myself and asking questions, whether that's with video producers or game developers or documentary makers or pretty much anything and everything. There are a lot of people who are active at that time. And so I do it.

And then after that, if I already have some recording lined up, then I'll prioritise mid-morning, because I've warmed up physically a bit more then, and I'm focused. So, you're going through the scripts, annotating the scripts, recording the scripts, editing the scripts. But then there could be live sessions at any time within that as well. I try to keep hours from nine till six. But occasionally, like with Rogue Trader, that was recorded at various different times of the day because we had people in New York, we had people in mainland Europe, and we had people in the UK. So all different time zones, so that can happen at any time. 

And then I try to do other kinds of bits and pieces of marketing whenever I've got free time to. I do use really exciting productivity hacks, like time blocking. Again, not something that as a creative individual, I was like: Oh God, this gets me so excited, because it doesn't, but it works. It's finding a system that works for you, but still has a certain kind of flexibility and fluidity. I'm trying to make sure that I get outside of the house, and that kind of stuff. 

Recently, over the last year, I’ve started doing audiobooks as well. That long form type of thing is quite nice to be able to dip into because sometimes you don't record for two, three days. You don't get the work. Nothing’s coming in. So, you’re marketing, but it kind of connects you back to the performance side of things to go: I can do a few chapters and you know, that kind of thing. So that's probably it. I try to formalise it, but you know, every voice actor’s day is radically different. There are people, some of the biggest names, going into different studios every week or every day. I very rarely, despite being based in London, I very rarely go into external studios. Like I would say 99 percent of the work I just do from home.

F: So how do you find the right voice for the specific type of voiceover work you do, maybe start with how did you find Heinrix's voice?

CT: Thankfully, Owlcat sent through quite a detailed casting breakdown. So, you get a picture, and that's pretty crucial, as well as a short bio, in terms of the background of the character, but not too much, because you have to sign an NDA, a non-disclosure agreement. But even if you do sign an NDA, I think developers are always slightly hesitant of giving you too much info about the game because things could still be changed. But I think I did get a picture of Heinrix, if not in the first audition, then certainly on the second one. From that you immediately think about the physicality and what might affect the voice, and there was also some direction in terms of what they were looking for. Anybody who has heard the character and me, they do not sound radically dissimilar. There's not a transformative process that I needed to go through, other than his sense of authority and the space that he takes up and the sureness that he has in that he has a kind of divine right from the emperor, so that level of confidence being brought through.

The other part of the audition was about the void ship [the Black Ship] that he'd been raised in and the horrors that he'd seen. And you as the actor have to do the detective work to go like this is showing another side, the more vulnerable side, the side that underpins all of his life choices up to this point. It's essentially playing the opposite to a degree. So it was kind of knowing when to let those elements bleed through a little bit. I think I had probably about a page worth of scripts, quite a lot of script actually to audition with. 

But I don't like to listen back to it a lot, because I think you get into your head. My biggest thing is stage work where it's ephemeral. You say it once and it could be different the next night. The whole point is that there's no one definitive way of doing things. Not quite the same with voice acting, where it's being recorded and you've got to get used to hearing it back. But I try not to overthink it. Just like record it two or three times with different impulses and then review and go like, those two seem pretty contrasting. I'll send those along and hope and then never hear anything back unless I do.

for movies, pick an actor whose performance you loved in something and explore their work. last year i picked whoopi goldberg, also a prolific artist, with a vast body of work that's pretty accessible as a result of her constant, intentional effort.

if you're an artist yourself, you can only stand to improve by getting to know your fellow artists better. so expand your notion of what art is. you can do it for free in lots of cases, and you're spending that time listening to music or reading or watching movies or series anyway, what have you got to lose?

anti-racism sometimes means engaging in real-world narratives of pain endured by brown and black people. that pain permeates much of our art, but we're just as three-dimensional as everybody else, and every aspect of our experiences come through in our work. you know that already, because what else is happening when you indulge in various genres. for everything you love or enjoy, there's a brown or black person who's doing something along those lines, in many cases, those genres wouldn't exist in their current form without the influence of our communities, some more than others, depending on where you're from. you can actually keep one foot inside your comfort zone and dip your toe into something else. that choice is both a joy and a luxury.

I am not used to using this app but I thought i would give it a shot as the fandom works featured here are straight up the best things i've found on the internet, and the community seems just AMAZING on all regards!!! So I thought, yk, that I would share my ideas for this AU fic that perhaps maybe I would write sometimes...... idk....

Actor Bucky x Model Buck

Set in the 90s, this AU follows this rough outline : despite the 90s being a time of counterculture for the youth, (grunge, alternative movies being pushed forward and towards larger audiences) and being out of the 80s and all it entails (glam rock and so on) there was this paradoxally reinforced idea of masculinity (leather jackets, men having to be "strong", etc.) and lattent ideas of homosexuality being a "bad, filthy thing" in some places, interlinked with the misinformations concerning the HIV epidemic (if you're gay, you'll get AIDS, you'll die in a few months, all this stuff), which causes the Bucks have to hide their relationship from the public in fear of retaliation and backlash.

Buck is a male model, in a decade in which supermodels are emerging, and put on a pedestal : it's a decent job for him, despite not being a Claudia Schiffer or a Kate Moss (as female models, especially in that decade, were getting paid way more than male models, and overall just represented couture houses more than men did.). People know his face, he's had a few campaigns, but it's not enough to make him one of the A-list celebrities, not that he minds. He's slimmer than what is the norm for male models, but compensates it with his face : it is his strength as much as his weakness concerning bookings. He is known by his peers as this wise and generally kind man, not overly flairy as people can sometimes be in their industry, and overall very discreet about his personal life. He is extremely professional, a master of his craft that knows exactly what is expected of him at any time.

Bucky, on the other hand, is an actor. Freshly discovered among the rest of a new generation of actors, he climbs steadily and surely his way to the top, and has people from all over the USA watching his career with interest. He acts in movies which in our timeline would feel like "The Matrix" ; "Trainspotting" ; "Fight Club", and all of those sorts of very "mainstream yet still posessing their bit a flair" movies. He's extending his choices and taking more risks, ones that could perhaps lead him to great rewards (not that he is especially looking for it : Bucky would be content to act in a short movie by a middle schooler if it was done with love and passion.) Charming, bubbly, he is loved by many of teenage girls (and others, ofc :p). Everyone has a story about Bucky, be it good or bad. "Oh yeah, he bought me a car when mine broke down" says a make-up artist on a set. "He got so drunk he forgot I was here and punched me square in the face when i got up to pee" says his friend Curt Biddick.

-They met at a party/gala of some sort for a brand, for which Buck modeled and Bucky was ambassador : it didn't click right away, but closely enough for it to feel like fate played a part in it.

-Buck is kind of excluded during parties as he's fully sober, whether it's from drugs or alcohol : a rarity, in the modeling world, and often not a welcome one.

-Bucky on the other hand, is a bit too much of a party monster : he drinks a lot, perhaps snorts a little cocaine in the bathroom, takes a little speed... Which GREATLY concerns Buck.

-Bucky is as cocky in his confidence and his career as he fears (and represses A LOT) the possibility of everything tumbling down and just going back to being nobody (THIS MAN NEEDS TO BE LOVED BY EVERYONE)

-He's terrified that fame will change him, that he will become a parody version of himself, that people will only know and like the version of himself he presents them and nothing else, not seeing his worth as a person, as an individual of flesh and feelings.

-Between the two of them, he's the one who desperately wants to tell the general audience about their relationship, not caring about the consequences, because in his eyes, love is love, and there sure as hell ain't nothing wrong with loving Gale Cleven, and people should know that he loves him, that they love each other, that they're a pair, that life only ever feels complete when they stand side by side, hanging in each other's orbits. They sometimes argue over this.

-Buck, on the other hand, wishes for their relationship to stay a secret, as he fears if it was to be known, it would taint Bucky's image, this very manly, confident and suave man, mingle it with dumb cliches (in a gay couple one is a "Folle" and the other has to be effeminate, because they're like GIRLS yk) and that it would basically ruin his career, tarnish his talent and hard work, get him blacklisted from most studios/directors and only perhaps offered type-casted roles in homophobic movies written by straight men. Buck could not stand seeing the love of his life being disgraced in the public's eyes, just because of some dumbass cliches, because of his love for him.

-Marjorie (Marge) covers for Buck. She's his front : They are seen dining together and huddling on benches by paparazzis, giggling and talking as they walk in the street, and that's enough. Their story makes people dream, these two young people who grew up together and fell in love, still a couple until this day, still loving each other as much as they did on the first day... They are a lavender couple (when both member of a relationship are queer, and use their couple to cover any suspicions) which helps making Buck and Bucky seem like just buddies. Marjorie is most likely not famous, or if so, she'd be more of a writer than anything else.

-Bucky is EXTREMELY jealous and FUMES whenever he cannot kiss Buck in public, touch him, do his little Bucky things, make Buck feel his. Despite that, he's sort of reckless and allows himself gestures that would not fly were the two men not viewed as pinacle of masculinity and a great example of brotherly love. Buck can't even bring himself to ressent him for it, and does not hold it against him : he too wishes they could hold hands on red carpets.

-Bucky is basically a disaster waiting to happen at some point, a pressure cooker dangerously whistling : he bottles everything he feels, just grits his teeth and says he's fine when dark times arise, drowns himself in alcohol and wishes to forget about his worries, thinks about simpler times when he had none at all. Gale stays by his side, no matter what, no matter his terrifying relationship with alcohol and the memories of his father.

-They live together, despite the risks : Buck couldn't bear having to say no to Bucky when he bought their appartment with a huge check from the royalties he earned over his first blockbuster. It is approprietly cozy : most of the decorum is Buck's doing, but Bucky's things still find their ways in there ; baseball posters, pictures, awards and silly little drawings on stick-it notes... It feels like home, to both of them.

-They probably have bought some sort of ranch or farm, somewhere, to run away from the city when things get crazy : they bask reverently in the fact that there, nothing they do or say matters, watching the sunsets on their patios, enjoying the melody of nature without any civilization.

That's pretty much it for now, I'll most likely add things later! :D I'm begging you to excuse any mistake I made, i'm just a poor French person trying her best. Don't hesitate to tell me how you feel and stuff, I am so nervous to make this post you can't imagine lmaoo

BREAKING MY SILENCE...

my partner and I have been watching different Ride The Cyclone productions. So far we've watched the off-broadway 2016 production (and just in case i'm mistaken, its the one played by Gus Halper, Alex Wyse, Tiffany Tatreau, etcetc. I will also be referring to this one as the OG even though is not cus im too lazy to type allat again), and some of t he more recent ones done in universities. I think it shocked us both to see the differences in the script. I mostly have qualms and complains around Mischa and Ocean's character. Mischa's has to do with how he's portrayed rather than the scripts, like Ocean's. In the newer ones, Ocean is portrayed as such a mean girl especially with the whole improvisation thing. They made her so superficial when in the original it really felt like she was trying her best to (as repetitive as it sounds) be her best and change the world positively even though it gave her a feeling of superiority for believing she is better than anyone else, that it came from HER being capable of changing the world. And by the end instead of reviving herself, she revives Jane and comes to terms that this is how she will affect the world, through giving someone else the chance to live again. That also means that Penny might not even remember her, and that's a whole lot development for Ocean cus she's not thinking about what her mark will be in the world and the changes SHE will make, but rather giving someone else the opportunity to live is purely selfless cus she gets absolutely NO reward, not even personal achivement or nourishment. It's just character development which kind of looses her effect when she's turned into a smart ass MEAN mean girl with airs of moral superiority that make no sense when she's bullying just because. Basically, yes she does think she can change the world but her superiority comes from moral and ethics, not just cus she's like 'im just better than anyone else cus im so slay yas girlypop'. They just pushed it too far with some of the stuff they changed/added (I will admit the improvisation bit was funny, if only it didnt ruin her character ((imo)) I feel like Mischa is being interpreted much more dumb than he actually is. They make him SUUUCH a himbo but almost fully negatively. It seems like they are putting characters in boxes. I enjoyed the OG because - much like he himself says - he gets hyped about things BUT in Halper's interpretation conserves that ''gangster'' more or less serious/chill persona and it's not just some loud ass class clown type of character. We didn't watch much of talia but even thinking of those interpretations singing Talia clashes so much because it feels so dumb'd down compared to the 'og' since he's kind of stupid and silly so it feels like Talia really is just a silly first love, he's being delusional and shit like that. Instead of the Mischa we first saw who already seemed far more realistic and less stereotypical, so it makes more believable for him to be so in love with Talia and that being the whole argument of his desire to live. GRANTED WHAT WE SAW ARE UNIVERSITY PRODUCTIONS so im not sure they were full on actors but still, it bothered me so much to see that twice, i had to get it out of my system bro. No hate to the actors tho these things happen, whateverrr anyway gus halper slayed that role, i have yet to see a Mischa that has so much ACTUAL passion and doesnt dumb down his rage thanks for listening im done yapping please dont yell at me thanks x2!!

Ok hear me out, people always say idia x vil wouldn’t work bc it doesn’t make sense but let me just explain why I think they’d be a perfect match lowkey:

The argument I hear all the time is that idia is neurodivergant in some capacity and has issues with executive dysfunction so he has trouble taking care of himself. Well good news, vil would be more than happy to make a schedule for him. Nothing crazy like what he does for himself, but just daily hygiene/ grooming/ self care tasks (brushing teeth, eating an actual meal, showering, etc). I think this would be great for idia ?? He could make it like a visual chart and then he kills two birds with one stone, he takes better care of himself and he FEELS better, bc he isn’t running on empty or constantly disheveled.

I also think dating vil would improve idias confidence too. Vil is the kind of person that wants to bring out the best in everybody around him and I know he would make sure idia knows all the amazing qualities he possesses.

Something that bugs me about a lot of vil pairs I see in the fandom are that they really rely on vils beauty, his status, his connections, what have you. All very superficial things that could be lost at any second (cough cough book 6). I think what vil needs in a partner is 1. Someone that shares his sense of ambition and self improvement which I think idia does in his own way, and 2. Someone that genuinely gets to know and love vil for who he is as a human being, not as a super model or a famous actor or whatever. Idia thinks vil is gorgeous obviously he says it all the time, but I don’t think that’s what would initially draw him in or keep him so whipped with vil. Imo, I think idia admires Vil’s confidence, but I also think he’d listen when they lay awake together at night and vil tells him about WHY he had to build such a tough skin in the first place. I think idia admires his commitment to his passions (something they both share). But mainly, I think what would really get idia is when they spend real, private moments together. Like when idia realizes vil will try his absolute hardest to put up a fight in whatever video game they’re playing, or when he learns about the genres vil likes to read and watch , when he notices little mannerisms and habits vil has that nobody else pays attention to. When they start playfully roughhousing around on the couch and idia realizes oh damn vil is built, he’s not this delicate little flower that I thought he was. How Idia would start grinding in his mmog game to get all of the rare, glittery armor bc he knows it’s vils style, only to quickly find out that vil is actually getting kind of good at the game and will defend Idia in said glittery armor. The way idia would reference some random childhood story vil shared with him two months prior and vils heart would stop bc he realized idia was actually listening.

I think idia may not seem like he’s engaged 24/7 during his social exchanges in the game, but I think he’s the kind of person that really is listening and taking things to heart. He’d notice so many little things about vil and that would absolutely sweep vil off his feet bc for the first time in his life someone sees him for what he really is: just some freaking guy. Idia doesn’t put him on a pedestal or make Vil’s appearance the backbone of their relationship; he just likes vil. Him being gorgeous is just a nice bonus.

You've been on set for 6 hours and your feet ache. When will the day be over? :( At least you usually have Olivia to keep you company, but you're shooting your scenes with her tomorrow. She always brightens your mood and you feel like the best version of yourself around her.

You finish your day and go back to your place.

You text Olivia I missed you on set today:( Olivia texts back I missed you too. My day was boring, can I come to spend the night? You text back Sure. I'm making pasta, is that okay? She texts back Perfect!

You close your phone and keep cooking.

Olivia arrives pulling you into a hug as soon as she is through your door and you hug her back tightly. God, you like her a lot.

You talk with Olivia as you cook and you eat dinner together while playing Monopoly because you honestly need to take your mind off work.

As you clean up, Olivia leans on the counter and asks, "Hey, can we run a few lines for tomorrow? I'm unsure about a few and want to make sure we nail it." You answer, "Sure, we can. But you're always great no matter what." She smiles and thanks you.

You stand opposite each other as your characters would and run a few scenes. It doesn't seem like Olivia is nervous one bit... That is until you see the scene... the kissing scene...and Olivia starts shaking a little.

You guide Olivia to sit down and you ask, "Hey, what are you freaking out about?" She answers, "Just the kiss." You wait for her to continue and she says, "I just want it to look believable." You sigh and barely believe the words you next say, "We could practice." She asks, "Is it okay if we do?" You shrug and answer, "It's okay with me if it's okay with you." She nods and answers quietly, "More than okay with me."

You practice the next few lines and the kiss scene. Each time, Olivia claims something is wrong about it and you redo it. She goes from cradling your face to holding your waist to laying on top of you. Your brain is currently running too fast, I mean, your crush keeps kissing you.

After a lot of kissing practice, your lips start to feel sore and you ask for a break, which causes Olivia to practically jump off of you. She is acting so weird right now. It's almost like she has a crush on you, but she doesn't, right?

After a cup of bedtime sleepy tea, you both go your separate ways to get ready for bed. Olivia is sitting upright in bed when you tuck yourself in.

You exclaim, "You seem stressed or anxious about something. Do you want to talk about it? Or do you want me to give you a head scratch? I know you like it." Olivia lays down and answers, "I'll take the head scratch." You move to lay behind her putting one hand in her hair and you massage her head. You say quietly, "Everything will be okay, Olivia." You hear her soft snores within a couple of minutes.

The next morning, you wake up to your alarm and you do not see Olivia anywhere. You smell coffee and you slowly drag yourself into the kitchen. You see Olivia cooking up breakfast sandwiches and you smile. That's really sweet of her.

You both enjoy breakfast together and it's really nice.

You both take Olivia's car to set and arrive on time.

The director ends up loving the scenes of you and Olivia today. He tells you that you both are very genuine and passionate actresses. It's almost like you two practiced those scenes and like you have a crush on her.... yeah haha so passionate and genuine... lol ...

One of the other actors walks up talking to you about some scene and asking you for a food recommendation in the city. You notice Olivia glaring at you from her chair on the other side of the room.

You try to ignore the glaring and you finish your conversation before making your way to your seat next to Olivia.

You ask, "So, do you hate Jim or something?" Olivia scoffs and answers, "No, he's just... he looked like he was flirting and you ... you didn't seem to mind it." You ask, "Are you jealous?" She answers, "I'm not not jealous. I just like hanging out with you more than Jim ever would." You nod and reply, "Ok... He was just asking for food recommendations to try with his girlfriend, by the way." Her eyes go really wide and she says, "Oh well good for them."

After set, Olivia drives you back to your place while chewing at her nails barely saying anything. You ask, "So, are you good?" She answers, "Fine fine. Why do you ask?" You answer, "You're chewing your nails and you only do that when you're anxious." She replies, "Right right. I forget how well you know me." You reply, "Yeah I think knowing each other for 4 years does that." She nods and asks, "Can I come up to your place to talk?" You answer, "Sure, of course. You're always welcome."

You both go up to your place and you sit on the couch. Olivia sits a friendly distance away and you raise your eyebrow at her as she glances at you. Olivia exclaims, "I don't know where to start." You lightly sing, "Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start." She smiles and says, "Please correct me if I'm reading this wrong, but I think I like you and I think you like me too." You gasp, "What?" She nervously laughs and asks, "What, did you think I kissed you all those times last night because I was learning my lines? No, I just wanted to kiss you." i know ghost's actor said that ghost listens to fucking classical music of all genres (idk, maybe i'm just not cool enough to understand), but in my heart of hearts he's a grunge/metalhead who has a weird relationship with being a grunge/metalhead.

there's periods of time which can last for weeks (but usually last for months) where he doesn't listen to his music at all, because the sound remind him too much of who he was and what he went through. the thought of trying to find new music to listen to seems like an irritating task, though; a task that would only leave him frustrated with himself for letting this be an issue in the first place. of course, he does understand why it is an issue: it's association. he, on his bad days, has trouble disconnecting the music from his father. but it's also music that he likes, and on his good days enjoys listening to. these oscillating moods irritate him to no end, and he doesn't see a clear conclusion for them.

ghosts and gaz are in the kitchen, sharing each other's company and the last dregs of communal sugar in their tea, and they're talking about music. gaz is explaining what makes him so passionate. it turns out to be because of his father and his zeal for music of all genres. he explains how there was always music on in his house growing up; they always had a cd or a vinyl or a casette playing, and it was always something new, something unlike what they had listened to the week before.

ghost listens intently to gaz. he enjoys hearing about his normal childhood and his positive relationship with music. he enjoys hearing about his not perfect (in gaz's words), but loving family. he asks gaz what the weirdest album his father got obsessed with was, what genres his siblings enjoyed, gaz's favourite song, and gaz answers all his questions happily.

eventually, gaz asks ghost about his relationship with music, and it's ghost's turn to open up and sour the good conversation.

ghost explains that it can be a bit... tense sometimes. his father had a huge impact on his taste, and unfortunately that means some of the time he has trouble listening to his music without sordid feelings arising. ghost tells gaz how he's unwilling to try and find anything different, as it would just overwhelm him, so he makes do. he tacks it off with "it's just music. not the end of the world." that is, in his humble opinion, an acceptably casual (but also not too undermining) way of ending his answer.

apparently not to gaz. he looks at ghost seriously for a beat, then says, "i could always recommend you some music."

ghost thinks on this for a bit. where's the harm? gaz has good music taste. the worst that could happen is a deflated ego on gaz's part if ghost happens to not enjoy his recommendations. gaz might take that as a challenge, though, and spend a lot more effort trying to find something ghost enjoys. the thought of gaz putting in so much effort for him bothers ghost, but ghost also knows that gaz wouldn't offer to do something he doesn't want to do. gaz would probably also get a huge kick out of reccomending something to ghost that he'd end up liking.

"why not," ghost says.

gaz's face lights up, and he asks, "what type of music do you wan't to try out?"

ghost furrows his brow. he hadn't thought about it in that much depth. he just knows that sometimes he wants out. he guesses that something soft would suffice. something he can put on and not have to fight to listen to; something that carries him. but not something too light and airy. something that's grounded. he tells this to gaz, slightly embarrassed with his wording, but gaz tells him that's a perfect description, and he already has an album in mind for ghost to check out. gaz sends him a text with the album linked and says he will look for some other recommendations for him. ghost thanks him, and their conversation continues, and eventually moves onto something else.

it's a week later that ghost finally has time to sit down and do nothing for more than 5 minutes. he's relaxing in his room, and he remembers the link for the album gaz sent him. the message is still sitting unseen in his inbox, and he decides that there's no better time to give it a listen.

he grabs his shitty earphones from his desk and lays on his bed, opening up the album and starting it.

it starts off slow, but it's strong and sure of itself. it's flowy, and if he's honest, ghost can't really tell when one song ends and another starts. the lyrics are there in random intervals, and they're much softer than the sound of the music itself, but the voice that sings them is strong. it's obvious the focus is on the instrumental, and ghost apprciates that. it allows him to relax fully.

this is exactly what he has wanted.

he listens to the whole album and lays there after it finishes. he sends gaz a text, thanking him and letting him know it's a wonderful recommendation.

ghost still enjoys the music he's grown up with. but gaz has helped him more than he can know. he has helped give him options for the days he struggles with, and that means so much to ghost.

Gonna rant a bit, feel free to skip. I just have to say this to someone, even if it's just the empty void of the internet lol.

So, Rings of Power Season Two. I'm quite enjoying their Annatar, and the way they've wrought his influences on Eregion's people (even if it is all very truncated and consequently without any real subtlety haha), and the Celebrimbor-pulls-a-Maedhros moment was utterly fantastic. 10/10 screaming on the couch, no notes.

But ughhh I wish Celebrimbor looked like Celebrimbor.

By which I mean, I wish he looked at least a little bit like Fëanor.

Instead he looks more like Bilbo than anything else. I look at this dude and I don't see somebody who seems like they're on the brink of getting caught-up in a massive forging project or about to start spouting some epic song he learned in the First Age; I see someone who looks like he wants to pour me a cup of tea and settle down by the fireside to tell me a pleasant little story.

Which is a lovely vibe, but not very Celebrimbor-ish imo.

(Actually the lack of elves-being-elf-like overall is one of my biggest irritants with this show. And yes I will forever be irritated over the stupid hair, but right now I'm talking mainly body language. Some of them are doing it—Galadriel, Arondir, Gil-galad, etc—but for the most part, the elves just move and act like people. Normal, everyday, ordinary human people. Having Sauron around being Annatar instead of doing his Halbrand thing highlights this even more in the second season, because he's acting so delightfully not-human with the way he moves and stands and emotes that their basic total-human-ness is all the more glaring in contrast.)

Where is your vaguely-ethereal grace, your strangely light posture, your ancient-being aura? When you stand still do it like you've got a presence! When you walk give me some spring, or some glide, or something! Put your shoulders back, raise your toes, hold your arms with some deliberation! Do something. Orlando Bloom didn't put all that work into [cat] body-language to have y'all turn around and just move like normal folks.

But I digress.

Back to Celebrimbor! This guy is supposed to evoke the memory of Fëanor, an elf driven by so much fire and passion that he spat in Morgoth's face and nearly set the whole world to ruins in his wrath. And instead they designed his look and attitude to be "friendly non-threatening uncle" I guess? What were they thinking?

I know we don't know much about Celebrimbor as a person, and lots of different interpretations are valid; but come on. They could have given us SOME sort of fire to him, surely!

Where is the Celebrimbor who is always chaffing for more, to prove himself worthy of his lineage? Where is the Celebrimbor who has spent centuries swallowing shame over the blood on his family's hands? Where is the Celebrimbor who refuses to be ashamed, and instead flaunts the Star of his House proudly right there on Durin's Door? Where is the Celebrimbor so passionate about his craft that he'll walk through the distrust of Doriath to befriend dwarves again? Where is the Celebrimbor who is afraid of his own power and passion, having seen where those things led his forebears? Where is the Celebrimbor determined to prove himself equal to Fëanor and Curufin; or even their better? Where is the Celebrimbor who wants, so badly, to make the world better that he ends up falling headfirst into Annatar's schemes like a silmaril scorching the hand of a kinslayer?

Where is the Celebrimbor who burns so brightly that he'll go to his death with his last secret unspilled?

I think the actor is a good actor, don't get me wrong. And I think he's doing a very good job of playing the character he's been given. (I think Charles Edwards would do a good job playing an elf, too, if this show had bothered to have all their elves be elves, and not just the few whose actors I guess decided to play it that way on their own or something???) I just wish the character they'd given him had been a little bit more Celebrimbor, scion of the House of Fëanor. Both in looks and in attitude.

Seriously why was Benjamin Walker the only male elf in the whole damn first season they managed to put some damn elf-hair on? Why does Celebrimbor have Hobbit curls? I was genuinely so confused when he walked on screen because he looks like a Hobbit! That is Hobbit-styling going on there, you have established that as Hobbit styling, what are you doing costumers???

When I look at Annatar, or Galadriel, or Arondir, etc, I feel like I'm looking at the character. I buy it! I'm on board! I'm invested. When I look at Celebrimbor, I just feel like I'm looking at an actor.

A good one, mind you! His emotional journey has been magnificent. But I still feel like I'm watching an actor perform a role, rather than seeing the actor as the character.

And I really wish it was otherwise.

Because this has been such a delightful surprise of a season, the Eregion bits especially. (Which is not to discount the dwarves, who are my other favorite storyline, but not really on-topic for discussions of elves and elvish-smiths haha.) But whenever I see guy-playing-Celebrimbor, the illusion breaks.

And that's a fucking bummer.

I wanted to ask for a Yunho or Wooyoung (you pick) x reader where they’re watching her favorite movie, like Romeo and Juliet or Pirates of the Caribbean, and the reader is so entranced she’s mouthing all the lines. The Ateez member notice, and it turns him on, like a lot, to see her so passionate about the movie. Right before the characters kiss on screen, he quotes the lines back to her, to her surprise, (he learnt it just for this), and then kisses her, and the two start having passionate sex…. Is that okay? Or is this too complicated? If it is, Dw!!! (Sorry I wrote so much 😅)

Thank youu baby, for the send, hehe. I'm gonna be honest with you i haven't seen pirates of the Caribbean, but i have seen a few different types of Romeo and juliet plays. But I've never watched the films of it, ahhah. Also, i picked Yuyu cause I'm down bad for actor yunho ahah

But let's imagine...

Yunho is leaning back along the couch his left arm draped over the cushions, and the other resting on your lower back drawing shapes lightly on your exposed skin. His legs were spread wide, his thigh leaning snugly against your crossed legs. Your eyes are glued to the screen as you watched your favorite version of Romeo and Juliet for what seems like the millionth time.

This was only Yunho's second time watching it—well as fair as you knew—. He had secretly watched a few scenes over and over to remember the lines. Specifically, the love confession. He knew how much of a romantic you were, so when you asked to watch it, he was thrilled to watch it with you so he could put his plan into action.

His eyes were stuck on you, watching the way you smiled or how you mouthed the words softly. Your eyebrows knotted when a character kissed another. Or how your face turned red when someone said a flirtatious line. You were so smitten for romance. And then, as the scene starts, Yunho can't help but grin.

"Lady, by yonder blessed moon, I swear. That tips with silver all these fruit-tree tops—"

Your head whipped so quickly that you swore it almost snapped. Your eyes were wide, and your throat went dry. Yunho's smile only grew, his legs spreading wider. "What shall I swear by?"

Your lips quivered a tear building on the corner of your eye. "If my heart's dear love—"

His hand that was playing with your back now slowly snaked around your waist, sitting up to tug you slowly towards him. You let him manhandle you until you were perched on his right thigh. "O, wilt thou leave me so unsatisfied?"

He whispered that line, his lips so close to yours, and then you finally responded. Your fingers lacing into his loose shirt, "What satisfaction canst thou have to-night?"

"The exchange of thy love's faithful vow for mine." You could feel his hot breath on your face. His hands gripped your ass slightly, grinding your body forward so your chest was flushed against his. You had forgotten the movie entirely now as you leaned in to seal your lips against his own. Your mouths move in sync like a play only the two of you can perform. Your hands, dance along one another, feeling every curve and imperfection. Neither of you could tell when or how clothes were lost or how Yunho ended up on top of you. But as the movie drew to a climax, he made sure you did too. Sunk so beautiful on his cock, he listened to your moans like his favorite song.

His thrusts, were so gentle, so moving. Like he spoke words of endearment without his voice. His fingers laced with yours, as his lips kiss any part of your skin. “My Romeo.” You’d whisper.

So I've been listening to this cover of IDOL and a lot of the lyrics in the song HEAVILY remind me of Gojo so guess who's making his very first JJK au!!!

Rather than being the strongest jujutsu sorcerer, Satoru Gojo is a well-known performer and idol. He sings, he dances, he models, he plays in shows and movies, anything and everything that would remind you of idols and celebrities that so many admire and get their inspiration from. This is the life Gojo has lived for as long as he can remember; he's always had these gifts, and has always been encouraged to use them.

Having been in the business for so long, Gojo knows what his audience wants. He knows the perfect way to act to keep everyone fawning over him as they have been for years. The people like him when he's charming, and they love him when his confidence is highest. His audience views him as being strong and untouchable, and that's exactly how he'll keep it (even during times where he wishes he didn't need to put on an act).

Gojo meets Megumi and Nobara through the modeling business, and meets Yuji through acting. He sees the talent and passion these younger stars have, and decides to take them under his wing. He teaches them anything they're willing to learn, though Nobara and Yuji seem to struggle with more musical aspects of idol-hood. They're both wonderful dancers, however, unlike Megumi. Gojo doesn't pay it any mind, focusing on each of their strengths to make sure they'll be flawless in whatever field they choose.

Enough with the cute and happy shit cuz now it's time for Geto to come into play!!

Geto is an indie artist, and he dabbles in a lot of different genres of music. While he isn't vastly well-known, he does have a decent following and plays enough gigs to keep bills paid. Frankly, that's more than he ever expected to get out of his career. As far as his musical skillset, Geto can play any instrument you'd associate with bands (guitars, drums, keyboard, etc) and is quick to learn various other instruments as well. One of his favorite instruments to play is clarinet, though he doesn't have a chance to play it often.

Geto and Gojo meet at an event that's essentially a party for any celebrities, musicians, and actors that get personally invited. Gojo was invited for obvious reasons, and Geto managed to get an invite through Shoko, who's a producer. Their first meeting was a little.. rough, to put it lightly. Geto immediately wasn't a fan of Gojo, viewing his charming persona as a tactic to play with people's feelings and avoid taking accountability for his actions. Even though there wasn't really any basis for these assumptions, it made both of their first impressions of each other a bit messy. Gojo could already tell that Geto didn't like him, but brushing it off and acting nice for the sake of pleasantries didn't seem to help in the slightest.

Geto ended up gaining some popularity through the event, and later on down the line was asked about doing a collaboration with, you guessed it, Gojo. Well, it wasn't a collaboration with just Gojo. Megumi and Yuji were said to be involved, though Geto didn't pay much attention to that. "Forming friendships with other people in the industry is the best way to advance your career," his manager said. "It'll be a nice change of pace," his manager said.

Meanwhile Gojo was a bit excited for this collab. Despite Geto not liking Gojo at all, Gojo found a strange interest in him. Shoko did say he had a nice personality under his rough edges. Maybe Gojo could get Geto to warm up to him!

For the sake of not spiraling into turning this overview into a straight up fic, I'll stop here. Tbh I'm loving this concept so much that I might make a full fic with it soon

Overall, it is no exaggeration to say that the entire content of this event was a surprise, as there was no prior announcement of what the event would be about, but one of the most sudden announcements was that Kazutaka Kodaka would be signing autographs for those who purchased the official soundtrack at the event's merchandising. I had already bought the OST, but there was an announcement that the version signed by Masafumi Takada would be sold, so I thought I would buy one if there were any left. As it turned out, a lot of people bought the OST, probably because they could get Kodaka's autograph. And of course I bought it too.

I was very nervous to talk to Kodaka directly! but it was a very good experience XD I will make another post about this later.

As for my impression of the event, the first thing I'd like to say is that I was very impressed. I felt the fans deeply thanking the developers and voice actors for making or working hard on RAIN CODE, and the developers and voice actors thanking the fans for playing and supporting RAIN CODE. Well, it seems kind of generic when I put it into words… but I think the event clearly showed a high level of passion for RAIN CODE.

What was particularly surprising was that the guest voice actors had probably played the game properly. I expected Katsumi Fukuhara, VA for Yuma, and Sayumi Suzushiro, VA for Shinigami, to have played the game, but I was surprised that even Yui Ishikawa, VA for Halara, and KENN, VA for Desuhiko, were able to discuss the game in detail.

And what is impressive is that they all "mentioned" a sequel. When I say "mentioned", they just said they wanted to do a sequel; unfortunately, there was no announcement that they had decided to do a sequel. But I think mentioning a sequel in front of the fans carries a different weight. Also, not just once or twice, but on various topics, Kodaka hinted at the possibility of various developments in the future. On the other hand, if something is already decided, it would be a good time to announce it at an event like this, so it is a bit sad that no concrete announcement was made, but I was very happy that all the guests showed their motivation to make a sequel.

I took notes on what they talked about and will post a report with some illustrations based on those notes. The event lasted about two hours * twice (day and night), but it was packed with a lot of topics, so it's hard to put it into text properly! But it was a lot of fun, and there are a lot of scenes I want to illustrate, so I'll post them one by one.
