Hi! I tried my hand at translating your comic in French (I got an English license)! I had lots of fun doing it, noticing little details that I didn't when just reading, and I also wanted to introduce it to my little sister who doesn't read in English and so far she seems to really like it! What gave me the most difficulty tbh is translating Mars' pronouns since our language uses mainly female and male pronouns but I did my best! I was also wondering if it was possible to post it somewhere to spread it...? Anyways, love your comic and your streams! ^^<3

Hey, so I'm not gonna answer this question with your username out, because I don't want you getting dogpiled.

But I feel the need to address this because it comes up now and then.

First of all: Thank you for liking my comic and wanting it to come faster! I'm psyched to hear that you like it that much.

And while I fully understand the feeling of "why can't the thing I want just HAPPEN", this is... unfortunately... not a very kind thing to send to an artist. Or a writer. Or any creator.

Not the way it's worded, anyway.

Why can't the comic be weekly again?

Well, if you can understand why THIS is irrational:

Then you can understand why the comic can't be weekly just because you REALLY REALLY want it to be.

Resources like money and time aren't just something that drops into my hands. I'm an adult. I work. I have a life outside of this. I have a dog! I get up at 6am to walk her. I drive to work an hour each way. I try to help my spouse out around the house.

And I daresay, even though I once posted weekly, the quality and length of my comics has gone up quite a bit and it now requires twice the amount of time to make them without burning out.

Look, to make it 100% clear, when I'm pushing the comics to be two weeks apart, this is NOT what is happening:

This magical contraption does not exist. It's not effortless, it's not immediate.

It takes me the full two weeks, if not more, to create these comics.

Yes, they're spaced out quite far apart, but that's how far apart they gotta be in order for me to be able to bring them to you.

And yes, I know the comic is already made. But I am making them at a pace of two per month on Patreon, and just because I post them faster doesn't mean I'll make them faster!

Basically your options are:

Regular updates that are two weeks apart

Semi-regular updates that are sometimes less than two weeks apart, but with multiple month-long hiatuses between them.

I've chosen regular updates. For me AND for you guys.

And man, there are MANY better ways to tell an artist or a creator you love "hey, I can't wait to see more of your content!".

For example:

"Hey, I can't wait to see more of your content!"

You can also try:

"I look forward to every update!"

and

"Every time you put out a new comic, I'm eager to read what comes next!"

It'll go a long way, I promise!

Ooohh, ok but how does Viktor end up in the  morgue anyway?? Is he ill in this au? Or was it an explosion/lab accident? Oof, if the later Jayce was probably there when it happened a felt Viktor die in his arms.

Also… ghost!Sky got me thinking that she’s been haunting the academy science building for years after dying in her own ‘lab accident’ after school hours. But due to her lack of family it was never fully investigated and swept under the rug.

So when she sees her dear Viktor die in a similar way, she would do everything in her ghostly power to take him back to his body and jump start him.

viktor definitely is ill in this au, but it’s a modern au so he’d have better health than he does in canon cuz like. i guarantee you at least one doctor in piltover suggested bloodletting and modern medicine is at least better than that, but my goal with everything is to make it as funny and silly as possible, so:

viktor died by accident while trying to repair jayce’s ghost vacuum. logically, he probably shouldn’t have, since it’s literally just a vacuum, but sky’s soul leaving him and trying to get back inside was such a sudden shock to the senses that he just had a heart attack and died instantly.

yes jayce was there, yes he did spend the entire half hour before the ambulance arrived sobbing profusely while trying to do cpr, yes he did apologize to viktor’s corpse for breaking his ribs, yes he is scarred for life even after viktor revives

as for ghost sky, my first thought for her death was a scooby doo style ‘found-out-the-owner-of-a-supposedly-real-ghost-manor-was-totally-faking-it-and-got-murdered-to-hide-the-secret’ death, but that’s mostly because it’s funny and i’m not sure to what degree they’d be scientists in this au? like, obviously they do science at least a little, but i haven’t decided if it’s a hobby or a day job yet. if i do decide they’re scientists though, yeah, sky ABSOLUTELY died in a lab accident.

as for reviving him, i was thinking it’d be an empathy thing? like, when sky died, viktor was WRECKED and was really struggling to mourn, especially since she was his only zaunite friend in piltover and losing her really meant he was alone, and jayce comforted viktor through it and helped to get revenge by proving the ghosts were fake and getting her murderer arrested, so when viktor died and she had to see jayce go through the same things vik did, she thought “well, if jayce was a ghost he would probably sell his soul to revive me if it meant viktor wouldn’t suffer, so i guess i’ll do him a favour.”

I have been thirty for a few months. I never thought I'd make it, truly. I had no plans beyond twenty. I'm a high school drop out with various disabilities, I'm not conventionally 'attractive', I've never had many friends and my support network has failed me several times. And the idea of making plans, after a trail of failures and let-downs (both of myself and others), only filled me with dread. I have to take care of so much. I have my blessings, of course, but not without my own troubles. I have never been on a date, I've never been kissed even though I do want that. I've had to make the decision between bills and feeding myself. I've watched everyone around me fade away or leave. This, however, will pass. This time, in ten years, I'll have been forty for a few months. In twenty, I'll be fifty. And I can see myself being those ages. This year, I planted flowers for the first time and I've watched them grow. I've started reading after years of being told I am too stupid to understand things or that having joys won't make me successful. I've made new friends. I even repaired the strained relationship with my parents, something I never thought I'd be able to do. My life isn't going to be plastered on a big screen or be a bestseller but I don't need it to be. If I never marry or I die alone with no one, I don't think I'll regret it because I'll have myself. My thirties, I realize, are my gift to myself to know love and be loved by myself. Like I ... was the one who grew those flowers that made me happy because I know flowers make me happy, I chose to read the books I love because I know that they will make me happy, I choose to find my little joys instead of the joys others have expected of me. I'll get myself to forty, fifty, maybe even a hundred! I'll continue to give myself little joys because right now that is what is making me happy. That may change at forty! At fifty, a hundred, I don't know! I believe, however, I would like to find out ... and that is something I never would have said at twenty. I don't know if I will make it because as my farmer of a grandfather would say, "You have no idea what a year will bring." And you don't, there is no way to predict what the year, the month, or even tomorrow will bring, but you plant the seeds anyway. You plant them and take care of them as though you know they get to full ripeness and harvest. That process, I've learned for myself, is how I've found love. I just plant the seed today. I may or may not have flowers tomorrow but knowing that I may is enough for me to want to see.

Dear Mx Peaceshire, thank you for putting out so much quality content of an OT3 that not only made me go from “I don’t know how this could work in a way that I like” to “Oh so THIS is how this could work in a way that I like” but also for inspiring me to write Buggy just about 25 percent more whiny and pathetic than I already did before. (1/2) A primer on MF stream characters (except Lando) bc I clearly have too much time. If you want, I can also follow up at some point with thoughts/observations on how some dynamics have evolved over time. 

Bankai: back in the days (2019/20), MF and LN were big into PUBG and COD. At the end of one of his streams, LN raided a random small PUBG streamer: Bankai. LN then introduced Bankai and Max. Nowadays Bankai really only plays Tarkov. Is an online friend, but Lando brought him as a guest for 2022 Hungary GP (which was Max’s birthday weekend, so Max and some of their other irl friends were also there). Bankai talked about how they went out partying and had a great time. Max also brought Bankai as a BRDC guest for Silverstone 2023 (Max and Lando also met up for what was supposed to be a lunch with Bankai during this time, only to realize that neither of the two had actually remembered to invite Bankai. This was a point of argument for the rest of 2023). Bankai also met up with Max and Matty at one of the P1 live shows in London at the end of 2023. Bankai went to Silverstone 2024 himself, but both Max and Matty had a bunch of filming obligations so they didn’t get to meet up this year. 

Connor: Max mentioned just the other day that they’ve been friends for 9 years. Connor is part of Max and Lando’s tight group of irl besties who’ve known each other for ages. Connor did do karting as a kid, which is presumably how he met the others. He seems to be closer with Lando’s brother Oliver, who he’s the same age as and works with (racing simulator business), than Lando/Max. Was often in chat/occasionally in discord but rarely in the streams until he got into Tarkov in December. Before that, Connor only played iracing and COD.

Lorenzo: somehow related to indycar Franchitti, longtime fixture in chat and has started really playing Tarkov in the last few months making him a more regular character in the streams. Played GTA with Max/Matty and believe he occasionally played CSGO as well. Also does iRacing but very much does not want to do it on stream or with Max lest people perceive him lol. The whole “obsessed with Matty” thing is just a fun longstanding bit that he himself plays into. From what I can tell, just an online friend. 

MattyP1: has been gaming with Lando since way back, pre-2019. Met Max through that. OG Bambi academy, with Bankai/Lando/Max. Played pretty much anything Max plays (and even got Max into off stream runescape) - particular highlight was GTA role-play squads with Matty, Max and Lorenzo where Matty and Max’s characters were low-key in love with each other. Hasn’t done much gaming in the last few months (with the exception of a brief tarkov appearance with the bambi squad in November) but does appear semi often in chat/discord. Also plays padel irl with Max/Connor/Tom.

(2/2) Jamie Auger: Matty’s irl bestie (not affiliated with any motorsport), joins for Tarkov or CSGO. Ed (eau_rouge_specialist): almost never actually on stream (with the exception of a Fortnite stream in early Jan), but almost always in chat violating MF. Another irl childhood friend who currently races. Most recently has had occasional rides in Nascar. Previously been in a bunch of series including indycar and indy nxt. He’s turning 30 soon, which he hates being reminded of so Max makes it a point to constantly tell chat.  Oli: Lando’s older brother, only ever joins for iRacing. Theo: Max’s younger brother and the “self-trained” Official Barber of Max and Lando (and occasionally Tom). Recently joined for a few Tarkov games but usually just hangs out irl when Max streams from his parents’ house.  Tom Bale: another irl childhood bestie from Ricky Flynn karting days. From what I can tell, does not game. Used to be a fixture in chat, but sadly no longer. Used to join irl a lot, including some great streams of him and Max literally just walking in a park like old men, until like 2023 (when, according to Max, he “got a job”). Nowadays occasionally seen/heard lurking behind Max playing on his racing sim.  Jamie Maclaurin (VeloceJMac): Quadrant CEO, regularly plays COD usually with just Connor so not on stream. Only on stream the occasional times when Max ventures into COD. Most often seen in chat telling Max to work harder.

i don't think there's a socially acceptable way to communicate the exact level of gratitude i'm feeling right now without getting real weird about it but please know that i appreciate this So Much and if you ever want like any gifs made or even a short story man lmk and i will see what i can do bc this is the exact sort of stuff that i've been trying so hard to put together from clues in order to contextualize max and therefore understand him and write better fic (and also just not feel like an idiot during streams when people are talking and i have no idea what's going on!!!) but it's genuinely difficult bc most of these people are not truly public figures and i'm not actually that good at doing deep investigations into social media yk!!!!!!!!! ahhhhh

I didn't know Katara also had silver marks on the Kintsugi AU. How did you come up with that idea? Is it an in-universe cultural thing? If it is, is it exactly the same as Zuko's or does the Water Tribe have their own beliefs around it?

Initially, Kintsugi was a strictly Fire Nation tradition. Something to hold over the rest of the nations, and deepen their own belief of cultural superiority. Zuko hiding his scars played into that idea, since having gold inlaid in your body is a clear sign of Fire Nation blood—furthermore, High Fire Nation blood.

That being said, one lovely anon gave the suggestion that perhaps the other nations also have their own kinds of Kintsugi, and I fell in love with the idea. @ican-fixitbooks went even deeper into the particular philosophies of each nation regarding Kintsugi. I'll be using some quotes from them—watch for the italics.

It was during said brainstorming session that I thought of Katara having a silver Kintsugi scar, and how could it be used to enhance the themes of ATLA, Katara's arc, and this AU as a whole.

But a little background is necessary, I believe.

Kintsugi is a tradition practiced worldwide, with minor differences in philosophy/technique according to each nation.

The Earth Kingdom seal their scars with a substance that resembles bronze, as the mentality of breaking yourself down to build yourself back up better than you were is very central to their culture. It is used as a way to celebrate one's victories, made all the better if damage was taken to achieve it.

The elite have rather different views on this practice. They believe themselves to be above such things. That which is broken must be hidden away, which has interesting connotations when thinking about a certain blind earthbender.

The Air Nomad philosophy leans towards a naturalist approach. Anything natural doesn't need to be "improved" in their eyes. If a scar is there, it is there. Let it be there as a part of you, no different than any other, no need to be "made better", but in fact better to just "be".

Kintsugi is a cultural practice meant to celebrate making something beautiful out of something broken, arguably even making it better than it was. During Sozin's reign and forward, Kintsugi became a way to show the Fire Nation's superiority. Especially as that is essentially their philosophy for war: "Breaking the rest of the world so it can be reforged in fire, made a better, more perfect place."

As for the Water Tribes, there's the healing factor to take into account. The Northern Water Tribe isolated itself from the rest of the world once the war began, so they hold tight to their traditions and beliefs. If something is not broken, then why attempt to fix it? Kintsugi is scoffed at in the North—it is a foreign practice, one that is not necessary when all your wounds can be healed with bending.

However, the Southern Water Tribe has been exposed to the world. They have seen war. They have lived through it. They have suffered, but they are also free because of it, if only in spirit. The South is strong and proud and bold, so it comes as no surprise that silver Kintsugi becomes the mark of their warriors, their hunters, their people.

Katara was wounded during the last Southern Raid. After losing Kya in such a terrible way, Hakoda made sure to seal Katara's wound with the silver of their warriors, so that she would always remember that despite having been broken, she is still strong, beautiful, and proud.

The scar itself is long and thin, going from her right shoulder up to her jaw. It loosely resembles lightning.

And despite how she got it, despite all the things she lost on that day, despite it being a constant reminder of her mother's death—Katara loves her scar.

It grounds her. It pushes her forward. You are a warrior, it tells her. You are a survivor.

When Katara arrives at the North, her scar becomes yet another thing the Northerners hold against her. They use it to demean her, just as they do her gender and out-spoken personality.

The North believes a lot of things that Katara always considered natural to be a problem. What does it matter that she is a woman? What is wrong about being passionate? Why should having a scar mean she's broken?

This scar is something they cannot touch. The Northerners try to use it to demean her. To make her small. Self-conscious. Worthless.

They're scoffing at her mother's death.

Her strength.

Her beauty.

Her pride.

Her story.

And she will not allow it.
