it's so funny whenever ppl ask me this bc i seriously don't think i'm qualified to be giving out any tips skadhjaas i'm also very very slow ?? i don't draw everyday but when i do start i stay on it for hours ??

my number 1 thing tho is using references, it's v v useful ! also studying other artists' work: anatomy, face, colors etc. and honestly just adjusting your process to see what best works for you. for me i cannot sketch digitally to save my life, so i draw on paper almost 99% of the time...

Hhh I have sooo many character hc i could write a novel anon alvnqjcoqofpqf (partly because i do have a wip all about the subnautica characters and the journey to 4546B + ensuing canon divergence but pssshhhh)

So I think I'm just gonna choose the characters I've thought the most about:

2ND OFFICER KEEN

I hc his name as Roman Keen - I saw it in the fic "Survivors" on Ao3 and honestly I think it's a really good fit :3

He's 28 and has been working for Alterra since he was 17, most of which has been with Captain Hollister, who has become somewhat of a parental figure for him. He joined because of a love for flying and space, which his family disapproved of, and so he doesn't get along great with them.

I hc him as genderfluid - on some days, he feels like a man, and on others, he feels like he had no gender at all. He hasn't got himself totally figured out and mostly uses he/him pronouns, being unsure about how he feels being adressed with other pronouns.

He's a gay disaster and crushes pretty easily and hiding that does not come easily to him, although he mostly manages. When he first sees Jochi Khasar, it's instant aesthetic attraction. He finds him fascinating, and Khasar seems to find him fascinating, too, since he starts flirting with him and they develop a relationship over the eighteen-ish month journey to 4546B.

He's ace, and although fine with talking about sex, isn't interested in having sex himself.

Even though he comes across as stiff, he's not actually all that stiff as a person. He is just very responsible and aware and is thus anxious to fulfil his responsibilities as 2nd Officer to the best of his abilities. For things unrelated to work, he is still responsible and mature but not a stick in the mud. He's a fan of adrenaline rushes and actually used to do illegal racing as a teen.

Keen works well under stress, but as soon as the stress abates enough, he will have a breakdown.

He has an annoying-sibling type relationship with CTO Yu >:33

I also liked the name "Emily Yu" from the same fic as before, and I hc that her Chinese name is "Yu Jian" with 'Jian' for strong, healthy.

She is 29, a year older than Keen, which she teases him with, and has been working on the Aurora for 4 years, since finishing her master in engineering with a focus on spacecraft engineering. She worked herself up the ladder by virtue of 1) having a master's degree 2) hard work and successful projects 3) spite (someone (rightfully) insulted one of her ideas once) and 4) a little bit of nepotism.

I hc her as a cis bi woman who uses she/her pronouns. She enjoys both more feminine and more masculine styles for herself, although her style is rather tame and doesn't become hyper-feminine or hyper-masculine. She doesn't like dresses.

She's into Berkely, with her first being sexually attracted to him and then also experiencing romantic attraction. She enjoys his sarcasm and teasing him.

Even though she likes to be silly she gets serious in serious situations. She has a tendency to think that her way is best and has worked over the years to curb that down and be more open to other people's thoughts. When she does truly firmly think that her way is better though, she will stick to that unless presented with a better option and will put everything into trying to make that work.

In very stressful situations she tends to... sort of zoom out, distancing herself from her emotions and achieving a strong focus to do what needs to be done. Afterwards, she struggles with feeling the impact of what was going on, sort of feeling like it happened to someone else. It's a mild sort of depersonalisation. She works well under stress in general but needs some time to recuperate and destress. If she doesn't, her body will respond to the stress via tense and pulled muscles, headaches, stress-rashes etc.

BERKELEY

I don't have a particular reason why but I hc his first name as 'Cedric'. Honestly not too sure on that, if I find one that clicks more for me I might pivot to using that but this is what I've got for now!

He's 27 and he is not a routine member of the Aurora staff. Instead, he is part of the extra engineers meant to oversee construction of the phasegate at 4546B and hadn't met anyone from the Aurora before. He has a Bachelor in engineering but found studying so unpleasant he decided he was not going to go for a master and instead started and apprenticeship into job on a spacestation relating to phasegate maintenance.

He is intersex, which wasn't noticeable until puberty when he started developing boobs. Because he identifies as a man (he uses he/xey pronouns), he decided to opt for puberty blockers and later hormone therapy. He would have been fine with his boobs but society made him feel really shitty about them and he got top surgery.

He works out very regularly because it makes him feel good and enjoys jewelry and make-up, although he hates bracelets that move because he hates the sensation of them moving and bumping along his forearms whenever he has to tinker with something. He is somewhat introverted, not caring all that much for social interaction, and indulges in sarcasm a lot. He doesn't like the feel of long hair so he always wears it in a buzzcut. He's also chubby and built like a (short) bear.

He actually doesn't cope with stress well at all and only made it through school and a Bachelor's degree by luck, a lot of caffeine and the knowledge that if he doesn't manage at least a Bachelor's, finding a decent-paying job he likes will be very hard in Alterra-space. He finds it preferable to listen to others although not uncritically.

At first Emily annoys him to no end but as he gets to know her better (and she also tones it down) the annoyance changes to fondness. They become good friends and he eventually falls in love with her. He is pan and demi-romantic.

Haven't done much today except make brownies (and eat a lot of them right away), but yesterday I had to all-but-parkour my way in and out of a long, crowded walk-in freezer. Lots of tight squeezes. Spent longer in there than usual.

(and speaking of tight squeezes from yesterday, I got buried alive in a video game, so I had to bash my skull against the coffin lid in order to escape through death. A much-anticipated and very cool moment, my explanation doesn't really do it justice :P)

Craig Tucker

• I feel like he'd notice it right away by your facial expressions and small gestures. He'll immediately ask what's wrong.

• He's understanding about it and knows how stressful it can get talking out loud in front of the whole class, and he'll comfort you with words and small touches.

• He'd talk to you before the presentation, and would do anything to make you feel better, telling you that he's done it before and that nothing have happened, and that you'll do great. He'll make you do breathing exercises, and will give you a soft reassuring smile when it's your turn to do your presentation.

• He feels really bad for you, and he really wants to help you even though it might not look like it.

• He's always there for you if you wanna talk or feel nervous, just so you know that.

Kyle Broflovski

• He'd probably pick up the idea a bit earlier too, but wouldn't mention it because he thinks it's not that big of a deal and maybe you're just not feeling well.

• But nope, he instantly felt guilty and bad when he saw you presenting. He looked really worried when he noticed you were stumbling over your words and constantly shaking and fidgeting.

• When he saw that you were in the urge of tears, he immediately knew he had to do something now. Either he'd do something stupid to interrupt/distract the class or just instantly get off his seat and run to another place with you.

• And of course he did something stupid.

• He probably got off his seat and kicked Cartman in the balls and get detention or just scream in the middle of the class. Either way it did kinda help somehow, and you really had to thank him after that.

• Ever since then he's always kept an eye on you if there was any verbal assignments and stuff, he really didn't wanna do the same mistake again.

• He'd help you too, and give you a few (bad but at least he's trying) advices. So yeah he really cares about you and stuff.

Stan Marsh

• Unlike his best friend, he'd take the matters into his own hands and tell the teacher about it. Like something on the lines of "Hey.. mr. Garrison? I've noticed that (y/n) has been feeling quite nervous and anxious about the whole presentation thing, and I was wondering if they can just skip it?"

• Unfortunately, he said no of course. Stan would get really defensive for you then, and get really mad about it. Like clearly you're not feeling the best because of presenting it, the teacher has to let you skip it. Then he'd say "Ugh! If you won't let them skip the presentation, then I won't either."

• If you still had to do it though, he'd immediately pull you away from class and come up with some sort of excuse. He doesn't want you to feel bad or anything. He'd literally sue the school for not letting you skip the presentation ngl.

• Anyhow, he'd always prepare with you whenever he can when there's other presenations, or just whenever you're feeling nervous in general. He doesn't like seeing you this way, and would do anything to help you feel better.

Let’s make her demon, for 2 reasons: Reiji lives for a very long time, so obviously he gained knowledge over time, so it will be realistic if his s/o is also immortal as him. And 2, to be Able to disobey him she needs strength.

Now to my questions: how would he handle this situation since s/o is more intelligent than himself? I can already see him trying to manipulate his s/o. However if he didnt succeed, i think he will try and use his strength to push her into obeyment. Back to the “demon thingy”, if she’s nearly strong as him she can fight back. How would he handle it mentally? How much would it hurt his pride? Would he be pushed to the edge of loosing his sanity? For sure their relationship will be toxic as hell. Is there any hope for them to have a healthy relationship although s/o disobeys him and is confident in her knowledge and intelligence?

.。･:*:･(✿◕3◕) This week went by so quickly that I’ve neglected a lot of my asks.. hhh.. Anyway, onto my thoughts~

I think it’s possible Reiji would change his personality and become the more ‘submissive’ one. It really depends on how their relationship plays out. If she’s really sadistic and overbearing, she might make him obsessive over her and turn his whole personality around. It’s possibly for Reiji to ‘break’ and have a drastic personality change. He hasn’t let himself feel sadness, only ever anger and hatred. Her forcing him to realize that would change him completely. He’d be sadder and quieter, but also indulge in his vampiric urges.

He really hates being vulnerable which is why he’s always controlling his lovers. I do think Reiji would still be hard on her even though she’s a demon as well. He’s very critical when it comes to personalities, human or not. I think Yui being human have him an excuse to further degrade her. It would be the same with this demon lover. He’d brag about status and whatnot. Her being intelligent is a threat to him, but her being a demon is as well. He can’t bully her easily like he does humans. Not only that, but he doesn’t see other demons as useless and disposable like humans.

He’d be really conflicted, but his inferiority complex would take over at the beginning. It would take a while for her to break him down. He would eventually break down his hard shell and become less of a hard ass. I think Reiji is sensible and is emotionally intelligent. He’s just stubborn as hell and doesn’t want to admit his shortcomings, so he over compensates with anything he can.

I don’t think he would be able to have a healthy relationship any time soon. She’d really have to teach him how to love. It’s mostly on her to make the relationship healthy. Reiji wouldn’t be able to see how toxic he’s being or he wouldn’t be able to change it. He’s been hateful and jealous all his life. Having a lover that he has to be jealous over isn’t a good match.

As for fighting, I think Reiji will be very prideful in how he fights. He’ll back off amd resort to words if he knows he cannot physical win. Although his prideful nature might lead him to take on a battle he cannot win.

Deimos Slipped On The Closest Pair Of Slippers He Had By The Bed And Headed Toward The Kitchen. There He Heard Pans Being Set Down On The Stove Or In The Sink To Be Washed Later And Bacon Sizzling In A Pan.

Sanford Was At The Stove Making Breakfast While Whistling One Of Their Favorite Songs. That Favorite Song Happened To Be Poker Face By Lady Gaga, Deimos Would Always Sing And Dance Happily To It While Sanford Watched And Laughed During Their Breaks In Between Missions. Deimos Instantly Smiled At The Sight Of His Boyfriend Being In A Good Mood On A Morning. Everyone Knew Sanford Wasn't Much Of A Morning Person, He Was Only Cheerful When He Knew He Was Going To Have A Good Day.

It Always Was Fun Going On Missions Together And Then Getting To Relax With Each Other Afterwards. They Loved To Chat And Goof Off With Each Other All The Time. Everyone either had a real smile on their face or a mask on at all times. However, the mask sometimes slipped off, even if someone is incredibly experienced at hiding emotions. Konoha had noticed this about Y/N one day at school. 

Usually smiling and happy and lifting everyone’s spirits around her and helping everyone else, he realized that the only person she wasn’t helping was herself. He took it on himself to pull her aside after school and at least check up on her. His best friend, someone he loved both platonically and romantically, he knew that if he let this slip by, it’d be his fault. 

When Konoha pulled her aside afterschool, hidden from the public eye, he asked softly, “Hey, are you okay?” What he didn’t expect next was Y/N’s eyes gloss over with tears, taking him aback but pulling her into his arms tightly, one hand on the back of her head. “Shhh, talk to me, what’s going on?”

“I-I don’t know, I just feel like something’s wrong, I’m messing up somehow, I don’t know how to explain it and I’m just--” She started crying harder into his shoulder and he rubbed her back slowly.

It was him that had helped Y/N when she couldn’t help herself. It was Konoha that had taken her aside to make sure she was okay. It was him that made her believe that there was kindness in the world. 

They stayed together until she was all cried out and he took her hand, leading her home. She didn’t retaliate at his touch and followed him back home. It was okay to have someone help, it was okay that Y/N couldn’t do it all herself. There was always going to be someone there for her and Konoha had arrived at the right time.

i hope ur boyfriend enjoys the tot disease, HAHADFGJHD!! it indeed is a very silly game at times and i love that for it, but what i love most is the characters who just are so interesting and flawed and so fun to rotate in one's brain and also theyre wonderful to look at <3
