you gotta admire the commitment genre creators have when it comes to using black people as the stand in for the bigot in their allegories of racism (or gay people in their allegories of homophobia). I very much doubt a single person went to them and praised them for how smart and revolutionary and NEVER DONE BEFORE these storylines are (less due to enlightment than to indifference, probably). yet they keep at it.

#hi! im alive and back and etc.#six the musical #six the musical fanart #katherine howard #thinking of that post going 'i think eventually you become the person you needed most' and like maybe that's the thing with my art #this started out as a redraw and <improvement meme> i think i've finally reached the stage where i'm making the things that my younger self #aspired to create. like i can do this now! i've reached That level of technical skill! tiny me would be so proud. it's very gratifying #redraw from august this year actually. i've made a surprising amount of improvement HAHA maybe it was the adamandi stuff getting me #back into digital rendering. i think that obsession has quietly slipped away but yknow. one never truly leaves a fandom. just less intensit #also speaking of old fandoms! we're back with the six stuff haha. as of writing i'm in the midst of blog revamp- figuring out how to chill #multifandom status doesn't mean ditch all the old stuff ! but i do feel much freer and less stressed. i think hiatus has been good for me #notes on this piece particularly: redraw about cutting hair and thinking of the lyric above. also lowkey &j ref + pinterest poem excerpts #of female suffering. and maybe a dash of amanda heng let's walk inspo. this work is really just full of contradictions..#1. the mirror and cutting hair as an act of self liberation 2. the & is part of the lyric but also a nod to &j (in another iteration it was #pink but the white looked better) and like. &j is really all !!! girl power!!! etc. and i was like hmmmm. also matching pink shiny aes #3. the frame as a cage; the mirror as a self reflection idea (ie. saville's propped insp) but also as a sign of vanity. 4. sparkly costume #and pretty pose- read one too many poems about women feeling like they have to be pretty even in their suffering. something i wanted to #explore. and also in 5. the show itself... all you wanna do is. despite all the dancing and pink and sparkly the content of the song is #darker. and even though it's a story of her suffering it's still presented as a shiny fun pop song and ajshdhfhfh ok... 6. the lyrics fall #outside the frame. sort of a caught inbetween. sort of a trapped in the narrative and yet #within the frame it's all. vaguely handwavy breaking free vibes. like i said contradictions?#7. cutting off the long ponytail vs the pull my hair lyric at the end. yeah #8. the blocked off & looks a bit like scissors. positioned to cut right at the neck #anyways yeah irl remains hectic! but if i get around to more doodles they'll appear here :)

still love how the book starts out with stan beating up the statue and taking ford's discarded one dollar bills and then ends with stan completely destroying bill and ripping up money just to spite him

its like if youre gonna use sa as a repeat Thing that happens in your story, thats more or less an inescabable thing for the characters (particularily women) in it then one would hope you as the author would have like something to say about the subject. like maybe a point to make about it or the lasting trauma of it or the process of recovering from it. if the characters it keeps happening to just sort of freak out and then move on OR their struggles with it are off screen while the actual assault was shown in full detail then idk. is it worth putting in there? death and hell on you as a writer

so dust keeps his hood up to keep dust out of his face (kinda dumb reason because what is a hood gonna do???) but what about horror keeping his hood up to cover up that nasty head hole. what about horror with the classic "dust hoodie shadow" over his head so he can cover up that eye that isn't his.

dust has the privilege of looking mostly similar to classic and even being able to just have normal white eyelights but horror doesn't. he's stuck with the giant crack in his head and eyes that are permanently fucked up. he'd probably hate that there's a permanent reminder of un(dick)dyne's robbery of his eye and the fact that he can PHYSICALLY never go back to just being sans. so he wears the hood to cover it up because he doesn't wanna see it.

also it would look kinsa cool like dust's red and cyan eyes peeking out from the shade but instead it's this giant big red eye constantly staring at you from under the shade. idk just an idea

kinda wanna switch my creative attention from starfall to something else tbh. feel like ive been in a stump with it for a pretty long while and i keep going over the same scenes in my head rather than getting ideas for new ones.

Does anybody else feel like mental health awareness has done very little to help them in material reality

#i was gonna say done nothing to help but that seemed too harsh #like there definitely is more knowledge about it now. maybe more people feel comfortable speaking about it which is good #but personally i don't feel that. like idk. workplaces will post about mental health awareness and then do nothing to help employees #the same w universities. my uni cut back the already meager mental health support #and then the government is doing absolutely fuck all as well #like idk im just back in a place i thought id gotten out of long ago and i still don't feel comfortable talking about it with people #maybe that's a me problem or maybe it's cultural or something idk. but in the 10 years ive been depressed (🫠) i don't think it's gotten a #whole lot better. teenagers are still dealing with the same shit i did and they're still not being taken seriously #women's mental health is not even spoken about.....anxiety depression sh eds etc are still ignored or seen as hysterical behaviour in women #or just normal esp with disordered eating. society hasn't changed people still want women to be stick thin and weak #like i know 10 years is a short time and there has been massive improvements in mh awareness if we look back over the past 50+ years #but idk i just think that it hasn't gotten better for a lot of people #i think specifically of belfast and like god. the amount of trauma there is the amount of homelessness the amount of substance abuse #drug abuse in particular that has gotten visibly worse over the past decade or so*#and i connect the dots n see the 2008 recession + a tory gov defunding the nhs + dehumanisation of homeless people & addicts + the troubles #+ ptsd + generational trauma + a negative peace + classism + paramilitary drug dealers + parties linked to those paramilitaries #and its like hmmmm i think we live in a society. and a mental health approach based on individual actions like journaling and meditation #isn't the way to go. or at least is not the be all and end all which is what a lot of mental health awareness raising seems to promote #*visibly worse on the streets. it was always a problem ofc but even a decade ago my parents never imagined it would be as bad as it is now #and it's become so normalised. i do think there's less individualism here than there seems to be elsewhere which can be good and can be bad #but i think we are becoming more and more individualistic. slowly. there's still a sense of community here but i do think it's changing #and callousness towards homeless people is one of the most obvious examples of this.#love when i put a wee asterisk in the tags of a post. like i have A Lot To Say lol

It's the one thing I'm still hung up on lol #As for the rest I think it's Really getting close :) I got to actually turn her little ''shawl'' - I always knew it was Kaiein-related -#Into something that properly mimics his shape! It's all controlled by her tho it's not a part of his body - just magic-infused matter #Made to look like him so there's still that creep factor but it's more her body than his - she can control its shape :D #And I got to keep the jewels! Yesss - made it a motif! Now it's also on her hips and knees to break up her visual space yes very good #It's drips :) Y'know - like ink :) Finally figured that one out lol good job setting up my own symbolism me #And then some elegant drapey bits to match her ''shawl'' and continue to break up her space!! Yes! Good!!#I still haven't decided on a colour palette I think black and white is too obvious and too Kaiein but hmmm - she has a lot of colours #Lots of options to pick from but which is the Correct one - her hair would stay pink so maybe some of her pinks or purples #I'll play with some digital swatches later :)#I'm also so glad I could implement the hood design from one of the scrapped outfits ah <3 I love her in a hood she's so cute #I'm rather pleased with the way the spider web design breaks up her form as well - it's more subdued than the full bottom/shoes stripes but #It's also not very clear here lol the long ones that all the way down to her feet are the third from the center ignore that second one #The second lines out from the center host her wings! Very important!#Kinda reminds me of my holosona in a way actually :0 They /are/ both Evil-aligned hmmmm #All the more reason to colour palette! #my mom has been ranting about my weight for like 3 days straight lol #I'm 217 lbs yes I'm overweight but like #the things she says make everyone else uncomfortable too and I wish it didn't #i don't think me being thinner would actually fix any problems #she's always just found something to nitpick #it's always really really funny when i tell her i haven't actually put on any weight in years #i've actually maintained my weight without gaining for several years now #which is kinda an achievement on its own #i've not lost any but i don't gain either #and that's cause i work hard to at least a lot of the times monitor what i eat and i do work out #not as much as i should or used to but still #i gently reminded her today that i did have a personal trainer and nutritionist and it didn't really help #that's not for my lack of effort either i really worked my butt off #and then i got an injury and that ended things #but even then I think i lost maybe 5 lbs total not a lot #and even my trainers were like hmmmm #my body just doesn't shed it #so whatever #i'm a very body positive person! my mom doesn't affect me dw :)#i'm jus saying it's annoying #nothing frustrates her more than the fact i'm comfortable and don't have body dysmorphia the way she does so it's 100% her projecting

Big test to try to get a more stable job. Pressing deadlines at work that weren't there before. Presentation of my project. Chapter of my research. Books and thesis to read for uni. Visits on archives. My fucking birthday which will be uncomfortable in some ways. Submit a paper for a publication.

I'm falling apart at the seams yall LMAO the only thing keeping any scrap of my sanity are fanfictions my personal projects, which I'm dedicating way more time than I provably should
