i think to claim US citizens are privileged over those in the global south is almost always but not inherently true. whenever this subject comes up the first thing i think about is the fucking abysmal conditions on many reservations, of the fact that native people in this country still live under occupation, are citizens of their own nations but forced to be US citizens as well, under which they are gravely oppressed and their cultures and sovereignty threatened. one could argue that these are unique cases, if even willing to concede at all the extent of native oppression in this country. but to me, as a native, these individuals and experiences are not simply an afterthought. as i said, they come to my mind immediately. the fact that most people do not even consider them at all in these discussions only proves my point about how utterly fucking dire the oppression of this country's indigenous population is. we, especially those of us who struggle the most, are forgotten and erased constantly.
when some people are only US citizens by force, when they are among the indigenous population and live under occupation, i simply could not agree that these individuals benefit from that oppression. how could they? occupation is not a privilege. tell me, are you aware at all what the conditions are like on many reservations in this country? i'd also like to emphasize that native genocide is an ongoing project. it has not ended. it continues to this day.
#i'd like to add: that i can only speak for natives on this issue#and even then. i don't really. i am just one guy#i can't represent an entire group. no one can#at most i am more sensitive and tuned into this issue than many people and can bring attention to it as a result#because god knows no non-natives are going to#by and large i will not touch on intracommunity discussions not my own. that being said#if your response to black americans discussing their own issues and oppression is to complain about usamericans or westerners#then yes. that is fucking clearly antiblack and i see it a LOT from leftists on this site who are not black#like there is a problem in these spaces on this website and among many popular users in those circles#stay in your lanes.#another point i'd like to add: i am not including myself among natives who do not benefit from US citizenship#i am a mixed urban ndn who did not grow up on a rez or anything like that#i grew up poor but poor within the imperial core nonetheless#it is complicated as a mixed native. i feel resentment towards my forced US citizenship. towards colonialism and native genocide#but this post isn't really about me. it's about my native cousins who are far less fortune. and who nobody else speaks up for#not that i am under any illusion this post will reach much audience at all#i don't really want my shit spread on tumblr. so i know it won't#but it was on my mind so i needed to type it out.

the cover i commissioned for my book is almost finished... this feels so surreal.
#i cannot overstate how much painstaking effort i've put toward completing this novel over the course of like... basically a decade now.#the first in a very long-winded series but a monumental achievement nonetheless. and it'll be released THIS YEAR.#blazing through these final edits so by the time the cover art is finished i can start planning its debut.#there is literally nothing that i am more passionate about in this world than my art.#when i suggest that writing this book has saved my life that is by no means an exaggeration.#fame means little to me as does monetary value i just want to share what i love with others#after suffering a lifetime of isolation and ostracization#so i really hope you all will stay tuned. <3#riley rambles#once it's finished i'll be working on finalizing the official page too! so look forward to that if you want to learn more.

Finally, he took a moment to really look at her for the first time since they’d met in the Balshahn Bazaar a mere half-bell ago.
She was petite, but the ease by which she hauled her crate back to the Great Work spoke to her deceptive strength. Her cropped dark hair was tinged with red at its tips. Large red eyes framed by thick black lashes.
She was objectively pretty and something about her energy was oddly magnetic. There were certainly worse people for him to be stuck lending a hand.

authors note: OH HOW I LOVE THIS ONEEE!! i hope i’m feeding you guys well this week with these fics hehe!! IM WRITING A FREAKY ONE FOR THIS NEXT SO STAY TUNED!! love you love you <3
————————————————————————
yuta okkotsu was the biggest player and frat boy to ever plague your college campus— having parties literally every other night and trashing the absolute fuck out of his frat house after every single one, living in the privileges of popularity as he was without a doubt the hottest man there.
he absolutely relished in his reputation, loved the attention, loved the stares he got, and had a body count that absolutely shot through the roof in numbers.
and yuta was quite literally a typical frat boy. he was loud and obnoxious, the most stubborn hot headed man to ever exist on the face of the planet, passed the time playing beer pong for fun and drinking, and had girls practically at his feet, him never having to work for anything to get in his bed and fuck.
until he met you.
you had timidly walked into one of his frat parties one night, shy, cutely nerdy, a little scared and absolutely drop dead gorgeous, your energy an entirely different one from his own as he watched you a little too much throughout the night, rehearsing his perfected plan of getting girls into bed with him as he finally spotted you alone in the kitchen after a while, approaching you.
yuta flashed you an attractive polished smile as he leaned up against the kitchen counter, practically cornering you in as you eyed him alarmingly.
“hey,” he sipped at his beer. “what’s your name?”
you awkwardly shifted, wondering where the hell your best friend was as the biggest player you’ve ever heard of was talking to you.
“y-y/n…” you stammered, your gaze barely looking at him but giving a small smile through your nervousness nonetheless.
“pretty name for a pretty girl,” he hummed. “you’ve never come to my parties before, have you?”
you shook your head no, your doe eyes finally peering up at him.
“welcome then!” he chirped smoothly and leaned closer to you, his breath faintly smelling of alcohol. “you here by yourself?”
“no i’m with a friend, actually.” you laughed awkwardly, your cheeks red with embarrassment but smiling politely through your discomfort, not wanting to offend him in any way.
yuta nodded, his eyes scanning the crowd. “did you lose them?”
“i— i guess so—”
“you can stick with me then.” he shrugged, a sly smile on his face as he sweet talked you, it slightly faltering when he noticed how uncomfortable you looked, but carrying on anyways. “you wanna head upstairs? maybe we can—”
“no thank you.”
he paused.
no?
“no?”
he was yuta okkotsu. no girl has ever told him no before.
you shook your head at him and gave him a sugary smile, your tone kind and polite as you started to walk away from him. “i’m sorry, i think i see my friend over there though! thank you for keeping me company, i hope it wasn’t too much trouble!”
he watched you walk away then in your tiny little skirt, and he felt stupidly offended. absolutely stupidly offended as he slightly scoffed and shook his head, taking a swig of his beer, his body and mind literally glitching with the foreign feeling of rejection.
yuta tossed his empty beer bottle lazily in a black garbage bag and stuffed his hands into his pockets, his long legs already pulling him over to the beer pong table in the living room, opting to forgetting the entire encounter he had with you altogether and shaking it off.
except he couldn’t. he couldn’t shake it off.
his brain was buzzing and utterly reeling over the thought of your timid nature and soft spoken words and pretty pretty face from that point forward, thoughts that aggravated him to no end that bubbled up every time he ate, slept, was in class, and did basically anything.
he didn’t know why it was happening. he didn’t know why you took over his every fucking thought as he only interacted with you for like five minutes. but your aura was different. so poised, so shy and gentle, and it was like a red string was physically pulling him towards you everywhere you went.
yuta saw you around campus a lot more after that, you sticking out like a sore thumb and blinding his vision whenever you walked past him, your smile sweet and respectful towards him that lasted only a millisecond as you walked down further, his eyes watching you over his shoulder, soft.
you conversations with him were nothing but polite and casual as he tried to talk to you again and again, your body language guarded and careful, but your voice like silky honey, speaking to him with more kindness than he deserved.
yuta never seemed to be able to get past the invisible wall you built in front of him.
“a girl like her isn’t gonna go for a guy like you, yuta.” one of his frat brothers muttered to him, having been fed up with yuta’s moping and grumbling around the house ever since he saw you.
“and why not.” he gruffed, his arms tightly crossed over his chest as he leaned back on the couch.
“because she’s nothing like us.” he emphasized. “she’s a nerd, respects herself, is way too good for you, and would never let herself waste time with a guy of your reputation.”
his frat brother patted him heavily on the shoulder. “just go back to the ones you usually go for. they’re easy.”
yuta only rolled his eyes and stood, but he really couldn’t deny what he had said. you were too good for him, way too good for him, his life completely mismatched from yours— paths never meant to cross as he solemnly watched you from afar, wanting you to smile at him the way you smiled at others, wanting you to talk about your precious nerdy interests and your studies with him like you do with your friends, and wanting you to just simply look at him longer than the usual casual hello you gave him.
but you never did.
in an attempt to try and talk to you again without seeming like an absolute fucking stupid creep like last time (something he quickly realized), he started throwing parties at his frat literally every single night in hopes of you showing up, scanning the crowd and sulking in a corner when he couldn’t find you, the bags under his eyes growing darker and darker with every time you didnt make an appearance.
he tried to go back to his old ways and hook up with the girls he usually did, tried to bury you in the back of his mind and go back to before, but he just couldn’t, his mind foggy and preoccupied with thoughts of you that invaded his every neuron, making him kiss his hook ups back lazily or straight up just cancel on them— stopping all together in the end.
it had been months, and yuta sat bored out of his mind on the living room couch during another one of his parties, not a single drop of alcohol in his system as music pumped and drummed through the frat that made his headache ten times worse.
these everyday parties were pointless.
he sat up and trudged to the kitchen, pushing past his friends for a beer until he froze.
there you stood, finally, leaning against the kitchen counter all by yourself, just like how you were when he first saw you.
his eyes flew open and he quickly smoothed over his white t-shirt with his hands, heart hammering against his chest so hard that it traveled down to his ribcage as he approached you, internally freaking the fuck out.
“hey y/n,” he greeted quietly and calm, trying his absolute hardest to convey sincerity towards you. “how are you doing?”
your eyes snapped to his and you leaned back a bit, but smiled. “hi yuta! i’m doing okay. how are you?”
he could practically see the wall you had in front of him, your posture timid and cautious, and his eyes only grew more insecure.
“i’m good! do you— do you want a drink? or something? i could—”
“oh it’s okay yuta! i’m fine,” you answered shyly, a grin on your breathtaking face.
yuta gnawed on his thumb, looking around the kitchen for something, anything that could fix the image you had on him.
the fridge.
“do you um—” he walked over to the fridge, almost stumbling over his own shoes as he opened it. “do you want maybe apple juice? or— or i have chocolate milk? or sunny d i drink like an entire dozen a day but—”
you giggled.
his head snapped over to you and watched your pearly smile, shining just for him for a moment, his shoulders slowly relaxing.
yuta sheepishly scratched the back of his neck and laughed along with you.
“sunny d would be great!”
he stared blankly, and then quickly nodded. “o—okay! yes sunny d—”
he ransacked through his fridge, knocking over several cans of energy drinks and beers before he finally found the sunny d’s in the back, tearing one out from the pack and closing the fridge.
“here you go.”
your cheeks glowed pink as you shyly took the small bottle from his hands, a cute wobbly smile on your face that made yuta’s chest clench.
precious.
he wiped his sweaty hands on his jeans.
“i wanted to apologize—” he strained out. “for the way i spoke to you when we first met.”
you stared at him.
“it was never my intention to make you uncomfortable, and i acted like a complete dingbat with the things i said, so i just—” he scuffed his shoe against the kitchen floor. “i’m really sorry.”
you were quiet, big doe eyes blinking up at him in shock— until your frame gently deflated, eyes softening for him.
“you don’t have to apologize yuta honestly.” your soft voice soothed him, a sound he craved to hear everyday since the moment he met you. “i don’t think any less of you if that’s what you’re worried about.”
“you don’t?”
you shook your head cutely, beaming. “i don’t.”
he felt like he could breathe again.
your invisible wall slowly and gradually crumbled away the more you got to know yuta after that. he was still a little flirt, but only a little flirt with you, and he still did his frat boy job duties everyday, but he toned down the parties massively and stopped playing beer pong and drinking just for fun.
it would be a lie if you said you weren’t hesitant about yuta to begin with. you knew of his reputation and the risks you ran with befriending him the way you were— you well aware that he was trying to win you over, but you saw something different in him that he didn’t show to anyone else, and you trusted him, the goodness of your heart always giving people the benefit of the doubt.
he was trying his absolute hardest for you and changing his bad traits, wanting to become a person that deserved to be with you as he listened to you ramble on and on about your classes and your studies all of the time, him smiling adoringly at you because he genuinely loved so much hearing you talk to him and listen to anything you had to say— and yuta was falling practically head over heels over the way you gushed about your little nerdy interests, your eyes shimmering every time.
“and what’s this one called?” he asked softly.
you glanced over. “that’s the corpse flower! they only bloom for two to three days every two to three years.”
“only for two to three days?!” he whispered harshly, the ambiance in the botanical garden quiet and serene as you both observed the different kinds of breeds, flowers being your specialty of knowledge.
and he wanted to know all about it, even though he had a pamphlet in his hand that told him everything.
he wanted to hear it from you.
“and this one?”
he pointed to a vibrant scarlet red flower.
“that’s the cardinal flower. they attract little bees and hummingbirds!”
your words were gentle and polite, your eyes sparkling at all of the different flowers in front of you.
“oo! and this one—” you stopped suddenly, slowly retracting your hand and looking at him bashfully, your cheeks redder than ever.
yuta’s eyebrows furrowed. “what? why’d you stop?” he looked to where you had been staring. “what about this one?”
“sorry!” you sputtered. “i felt like i was getting carried away and talking way too much…”
you laughed it off, but yuta only shook his head.
“no you weren’t. you weren’t at all.”
you peered up at him shyly.
“you can talk about anything you want with me wherever we are, y/n. i like it when you explain to me these things, or anything you know really.” he ruffled your hair. “i like listening to you.”
your cheeks adorned a pinky shade as you took in what he said, and you smiled so so big then, nodding.
“so what’s this one?” he pressed again, lightly.
the bed contained a mix of white and purple flowers, small and dainty as they swayed to and fro a bit with every breeze.
“those are pansies,” you leaned over the railing. “i like these especially because it looks like they have another pair attached to them on the other side.”
“like a little buddy,” yuta commented.
you laughed softly, “yeah! like a little buddy.”
he pointed to a specific pansy that had one white flower and one purple flower on the opposite side.
“that’s you and me.”
“is it?” you grinned. “who’s who?”
“you’re the white one and i’m the purple one,” yuta absentmindedly turned and grabbed your hands gently, playing with your fingertips— and you let him. “because you’re pretty and really fucking smart and way too nice to me, and i’m a douchebag and sometimes i’m a mean and scary old fart.”
you giggled loudly at his joke, shaking your head. “nuh uh. i don’t agree.”
“you don’t?” he quirked an eyebrow, a silly smile on his face.
you shook your head again. “you’re genuine yuta. really genuine. and you’re funny, you never make me feel embarrassed for the things that i love, and you make others happy!… sometimes.”
yuta laughed, “sometimes?” he softly placed your hands back at your sides. “yeah, you’re not wrong.”
“but you make me happy, always.” you finished off.
his eyes lit up like a firework. “really? so does this mean you’ll finally say yes to going out with me and give me a little kiss?”
you snickered and covered your mouth, your cheeks flushed. “nuh uh.”
“aww mannn,” yuta groaned and leaned against the railing, but turned his head to the side after a few seconds and looked at you, giving a tender smile.
your eyes continued to sparkle over the flower beds in front of you, but yuta’s eyes only sparkled at the one flower in front of him.
that’s where he started calling you flower.
“that’s okay!” he leaned back up. “i’ll keep trying.”
and boy did he try. each and every single day yuta tried as he brought you little treats from the campus cafe, or helped carry your textbooks to wherever you went, brought you neatly packaged flowers or sometimes would even pull his car over when he saw pretty ones on the side of the road, getting off and running to pluck them, handing them to you through the window with a goofy grin.
everything was bliss between you two, and your world only got brighter as you hung out with him.
but for yuta, his world got a little complicated.
his former hookups only grew sour once they found out about you, the girl yuta seemed to spend every waking hour with, completely blind sighted to the fact as they thought he would’ve dumped you months ago already.
and his frat brothers were just bothered. yuta wasn’t managing the frat like he used to before, like he was supposed to as their leader, neglecting the collective reputation they all had with him not sweet talking the entire female student body, or their parties not running every single night anymore— and even when they did run, yuta wasn’t ever even there to begin with, he was with you, something they quickly realized.
“you have to cut it out man,” one of them said. “this frat is turning into a shit hole because you keep spending your time with that girl—“ he stopped. “who the fuck even is she? i mean if it was layla fine everybody knows layla but—”
“who she is is none of your fucking business?” yuta snapped. “and just because i’m not sending girls for you to jerk your dick with doesn’t mean this frat is turning into a ‘shit hole.’”
some of the boys snickered.
“you wanna run the maintenance on the house? you wanna call up the fucking board and ask for the ten thousand fucking permits we have to have for our parties every year? you think you can run that?”
“no—”
“then be my fucking guest.”
“okay fine, i’m sorry man.” he sighed. “we haven’t had a party in a week though, we have to throw one tomorrow and you have to be there. then ill call it even.”
yuta snorted. call it even? whatever.
he begrudgingly agreed, not wanting to be there whatsoever but softening up to the fact that maybe he was neglecting his frat a little too much.
so when he called you up that day for your nightly phone calls, yuta asked for your attendance.
“i know— i know parties aren’t really your thing…” he pursed his lips, staring up at the ceiling as he had you on speaker. “but i’d feel a lot better if you were there… and you won’t be alone! you’ll be with me the whole time so—”
yuta sighed. “…i have been neglecting the frat a little bit, and they’re pissed at me.”
you gasped softly, “they are?”
“yeah but i don’t give a fuck.”
you both giggled.
“but i do want to make them somewhat happy so that’s why i gotta throw this party… can you come? it’s okay if not flower don’t worry—”
“of course i can go yuta!” you spoke cutely over the speaker. “as long as you give me a sunny d i’ll be okay.”
he laughed.
“i feel like…” you struggled. “them being mad and what’s happening with your frat is partially my fault yuta… i’m sorry.”
your voice was so worrisome, you feeling tremendous guilt on the other line as you bit your lip.
“what?” his eyes narrowed. “no flower, absolutely not. why would you think that?”
“because i keep asking you to hang out with me,” you spoke softly. “and i feel like im hogging you from your frat boy duties.”
yuta chuckled and shook his head. “i would ten times rather spend time with you than hang out with these fucking dummies.” he sat up on his bed. “i love it when you ask for me flower. keep doing it please. whatever that’s happening with my frat strictly has to do with me okay? not you.”
you grinned on the other end, your heart giddy. “okay.”
so the night of the party, you showed up to his frat looking absolutely gorgeous in your tight little dress, his hands instantly clamming up and his throat closing at the scent of your strawberry perfume and lovely face alone.
yuta tried so hard to keep his eyes respectful and not drift down to your ass or the way your perfect tits squeezed out from the top, almost physically slapping himself when he accidentally touched you way lower than he should have when guiding you through the crowd.
everywhere he went people were greeting him or passing him shots, him quickly acknowledging everybody and downing whatever they gave him as you shyly and timidly stuck to his body (which he loved).
yuta taught you how to play beer pong that night and cheered like an absolute fucking idiot whenever you would make it in, drinking the cups for you instead as he knew you weren’t the biggest fan of alcohol, which made you a little weak in the knees that he catered to you so much.
the party was actually way more fun than the both of you expected, especially for yuta, because he proudly had you on his arm as you walked throughout the house, you trying your absolute hardest to ignore the stares you got from different girls and not uttering a single word about it to yuta, not wanting to burden him and take his focus away from rejuvenating the frat and his brothers.
all was bliss, until it wasn’t.
“is this her? the girl you’re always talking to?” one of his frat brothers stumbled through the crowd, the one that argued with him the day before, drunk off of his freaking mind as his eyes raked over your body like nothing.
yuta instantly picked up on that and stiffened, “yeah.”
he tried his best to swallow his annoyance and be civil as he gently placed a hand on your back and softly ushered you forward, you shy and clinging onto his shirt. “this is y/n.”
“h—hi.”
“i see why you abandoned us for a nerd man!” he slurred. “she’s fucking hot. never seen tits look so good—”
your breath hitched.
“the fuck you just say?” yuta tugged you behind him. “the hell is wrong with you man? don’t talk about her like that.”
you noticed several eyes looking over.
“what!” he hiccuped dumbly. “they do! why are you getting pissed—”
“i don’t give a shit!” yuta snapped. “don’t talk about her like that!”
he scoffed, swaying a little. “what, like you actually care about her anyways—”
“are you fucking serious?” yuta stepped forward and you tugged him back, your eyes frantic as they scanned over the crowd forming and back to him.
“no yuta, he’s drunk it’s okay—”
“she’s just another one for your body count, once you fuck her you’re gonna leave—”
yuta slipped from your grasp and lunged at him, tackling him and towering over him on the ground as he fisted his shirt and jerked him up, yuta landing punch after punch to his face as the crowd yelled, cheered and recorded around you.
“yuta please!” you tried to get his attention, your chest heaving in a panic as you watched the other guy land a hit on yuta, not wanting him to get hurt over you at all whatsoever.
yuta dodged another coming hit and beat the shit out of him, grueling him down to a mere pulp as everything around him went completely white and fuzzy, his body stinging with absolute rage.
he was furious.
finally, several other frat brothers broke through the crowd and pulled yuta off of him.
“that’s enough that’s enough!”
“guys stop!”
quickly, you grabbed yuta’s hand once they put him aside and tugged him away from the crowd, speed walking to the front door.
“you’re out of the fucking frat you piece of shit!” yuta practically roared behind him as you pulled him. “you’re out!”
your trembling fingers hurriedly turned the knob and opened the door, dragging him out down the steps to the porch and across the grass, not saying a single word to him yet as he kept breathing out desperate apologies to you with every step.
once you both were a safe distance away from the house and just a tiny bit down the street, you let go of his hand and turned to him.
“—fuck im sorry i’m sorry im so sorry—” yuta shoved the base of his palms into his eyes as he threw his head back, “i just fucked everything up between us i—”
yuta knew you would never want to be with a guy like him, especially one that couldn’t keep his shit together and resorted to violence the way he did minutes ago, right in front of you. a guy like that didn’t deserve you. you deserved way way fucking more. and as he tore his palms away from his face, eyes looking up at the night sky, he knew he completely messed up his chances with you for good.
his head snapped down to look at you, his eyebrows pinched and eyes contorted in absolute guilt and agony as he placed his bloody knuckled hands on your little cheeks.
“i’m so fucking sorry he said those things to you like that that was not okay flower,” he emphasized. “and i’m so sorry i beat him when you told me not to i— i just couldn’t stand there when he was talking to you like that man—”
he dropped his hands and cursed, his arms going up as he covered his eyes again.
“yuta it’s okay—”
“no,” he shook his head and looked at you. “no it’s not okay. you deserve way more than this and no matter how fucking hard i try to do better, the life i built before you just doesn’t let me.”
his eyes got so sad, saying words he didn’t want to say, but knew he had to. “you shouldn’t be around a guy like me flower, you really shouldn’t. fuck— i don’t want you around a guy like me. you’re too precious for that. i’m gonna end up screwing you over like i always do—”
“yuta stop.” you raised your voice a little, your tone one he’d never ever heard come out of your mouth, firm and serious in contrast to the sweetness you always gave him.
he shut right up.
“come sit down with me on the curb,” you pulled his arm. “please.”
he followed you and sat down next to you on the side walk with his head down, you taking in how yuta only had one little cut next to his eyebrow, pride funnily bubbling up in your chest as you realized how good he actually fought.
he did that. for you. he made a scene out of himself and protected your name.. for you. although you hated that he got into a fight, you knew he was trying so so hard for you, going above and beyond for a year now trying to fix himself to be a better man deserving of you, and you were immensely touched, no one having put even close to that amount of effort like he was in your life.
“you don’t get to decide what i deserve yuta.”
his eyes shot in your direction “but as a friend i’m telling you—”
you huffed as you grabbed his cheeks and kissed him.
you kissed him.
yuta’s eyes were blown astronomically wide as you did, his heart no longer beating as he could’ve sworn he was dead right now, not believing that you were actually kissing him.
him.
you pulled apart from his lips with a smack, your hands still on his red cheeks. “a guy who’s willing to literally change himself without me having to ask, trying to be better for me everyday without fault for literally a year, doing everything he can to make me happy? definitely deserves me yuta. you deserve me.”
you pecked his forehead softly and pulled back again, his body going numb when you did. “so what if you beat the shit out of him? i would do it too if someone was talking to you like that i don’t care. i’d lose but i’d do it,” you giggled. “i didn’t like the fight because i don’t want you getting hurt, ever, period. but you literally scrapped him up like it was nothing, so i don’t have anything to worry about.”
he shook his head and playfully rolled his eyes. “no flower that’s the thing you’re too sweet to me, i don’t want you justifying—”
“yuta be quiet!” you whispered harshly, giving him a silly grin. “you talk too much.”
you reached up and very very gently pecked the little cut on the side of his eyebrow, feeling a cool calming waterfall wash over his body at the feeling of your soft lips finally on him, something he’s wished upon every star for.
“you’re so good to me yuta, truly you are. and i’m sorry it’s taken me so long to say this because i’m always nervous but—” you smiled endearingly. “i do want to go out with you, and i do want to give you little kisses. all of the time.”
yuta slowly let his forehead fall against yours, feeling like he was in a dream as the only emotion he felt at the moment was bliss. pure honeyed bliss as he wrapped his arms around you and pulled you to his chest, his face burying in your silky hair.
his hard work had finally paid off, and he had every fucking intention of keeping up that work until the day he dies, wanting you, his shy and timid precious little flower forever in his life— you changing him for the better so much that he finally feels like he’s properly healthy, in more ways than one.
“we’re going out tomorrow,” he mumbled into your hair. “bright and early. i’m gonna take you to get breakfast, and then we’re gonna go to that aquarium you’ve been wanting to go to for weeks now, and then i’m gonna buy you a souvenir, and then i’m gonna take you to get your nails done—”
“yu!” you pulled back and giggled happily. “you don’t have to buy me anything my goodness. just you is enough.”
he bit his lip, smiling like a fucking idiot.
“really?”
“really.”
“well too fucking bad i’m gonna do it anyways.”
he pulled you back in as you laughed and buried his face back into your hair, not wanting to break away at all, feeling like the richest douchebag in the world as he finally had you as his.
you scooted your face up then and nudged him, him pulling a part in response as you proceeded to plant another sugary kiss to his lips, yours lingering as they melted into a perfect mold against his mouth, yuta’s heart absolutely soaring, your red invisible strings close together at last.
he finally had you.
finally.
and he was never letting you go.

voicelines about you: as their lover ! (part 2)
featuring: sunday, aventurine, blade (+ black swan, acheron) [ part 1: dan heng, jing yuan, gepard, kafka, jingliu. ]
notes: well. the long awaited part 2 is here! (i took absolutely wayyy too long to finish this but a lovely anon requested the penacony cast so i just waited until now haha) stay tuned for either a future aventurine fic or a sunday fic tho; reblogs are appreciated! main masterlist.
Sunday
About [Name]: Ah, you speak of my beloved. [Name] has managed to strike your interest as well? Heh, I'm joking. You aren't that type of person, no? ….But yes, my lover truly is quite stellar, if not incomparable. I doubt I'd find anyone in the universe as lovely as I do them.
About [Name]: Smitten Robin often jokes about how my eyes change whenever I see them. ‘Softens like the smitten man you are,’ she says. Well, my sister is hardly wrong about matters of the heart, and to be fair, her words are indeed correct. While I cannot be with them every second of the day, despite my only wish to do so…. I suppose this much is fine. At the very least, this bewitched version of myself shall ward any that dare take [Name] away from me.
About [Name]: Preparation. …My mansion has everything [Name] shall ever desire. As for I, what I only desire is them alone, and for them to be right by my side. When the time is right, what's mine shall also be theirs, and none shall ever separate the two of us again. Should anyone attempt it, well, there's a reason my mansion is built the way it is.
Aventurine
About [Name]: [Name], [Name], [Name].... I see that you too have an eye for priceless treasures. Unfortunately for you, this particular one is already mine to behold. Mm, I wonder how my lover must be faring right now…. Missing them is truly, horribly debilitating.
About [Name]: Unworthy Whenever I think of [Name] being with me, of all people… Sometimes, the thought is unbearable. To think they would care for someone like me…. How truly lucky I am. Or maybe it's the other way around? Hehe, take a guess.
About Topaz: Contradictory Topaz and [Name] get along fairly well, despite her rather obvious dislike for me. Nonetheless, I suppose I can understand why. My lover is irresistibly charming~ Now, does this make me jealous, I wonder…. How about we bet on that?
Blade
About [Name]: Though this sword may be battered and broken, if you harbor any intention of harm towards them, I will not hesitate to brandish this blade.
About [Name]: Mara Infliction When afflicted with mara, the senses are ravaged ceaselessly, muddying the mind—being unable to distinguish ally from foe. This is my path. And yet their face is clear, pure amidst the carnage, alleviating the haze for but a moment. My mind may be overridden with hatred, but I will never forget that feeling of salvation.
(BONUS: Kafka’s Voiceline about [Name] !) About [Name]: Truly A Shame Bladie’s little darling, hm? Definitely a wonder, that one, taming him so easily. Those two are definitely an interesting case, that's for sure. Scary, marastruck Blade and them…. truly a shame. Even I know just how the ending of that particular script will end.
Acheron
About [Name]: …They are my lover, yes. Hm? Tell you more about them? Heh, I think you'd have better luck asking [Name] instead of me. I probably wouldn't even know where to begin.
About [Name]: Keeping Memories Despite the fact of my memories being in less than the best condition, [Name] always tells me about all the exciting things they've come across, whether it be delicious food from various planets, or even the most mundane things like the sound of the rushing water, the sight of fireflies in the night. They truly make everything worth remembering.
(BONUS: Black Swan’s Voiceline about [Name] !) About [Name]: Eye Of The Storm Ah, you speak of that Galaxy Ranger's companion…. The abyss that is her consciousness seems to only become calm in the face of them, akin to the eye of the storm. A shining light in the middle of nothingness—that is something that even she cannot let go of. No wonder Miss Acheron is quite taken with them.
Black Swan
About [Name]: The memories of Memokeepers are sorted into various categories by their importance. As my lover, my memories of them hold the greatest value of all. Such memories…. even if the Remembrance wishes for me to hand them over, I doubt I will ever allow it.
About [Name]: Dancing My proficiency in the act of dancing is all thanks to my continued practice with [Name] on our shared time together. Fufu, ‘dates,’ if you will. Every moment I spend in their arms, swaying to the beat of the music at every turn… those are the memories I wish to forever retain.
About Acheron: Indebted One time, Miss Acheron managed to get lost in the middle of the Reverie Hotel’s halls... as usual. [Name] came across her then, and proceeded to have a lovely chat with her. I owe her a debt for keeping my lover company as I was preoccupied with some matters the Garden of Recollection entrusted to me to relay to the family. Next time, perhaps I should invite her over for some dinner with [Name]....
end notes thanks for sticking around the part 2 (for the ogs who read pt 1) and do look forward to more HSR content in the future! also did i say i love aventurine

Is It New Years Yet? | Quinn Hughes
summary: friends with benefits is great in theory but when the holiday season approaches, you begin to believe that may no longer be the case.
3.9k
warnings: SFW! friends with benefits | friends to lovers | jealousy | angst | kissing | suggestive scenes but no actual smut | read at your own discretion
a/n: based off this request! here it is, the last fic of cuteandhughesy’s christmas special! thank you all so much for the love and support you’ve given me through this special…I can’t thank you enough! stay tuned for my 2025 planner, which I plan to publish within the next few days :)
───────── ౨ৎ ─────────
the gold sequins covering your top are extremely irritating, rubbing your underarms raw with their sharp, shiny edges. in an attempt to not freak out and just walk right out the door, you take a long and exaggerated sip from your — 5th? maybe 6th? — glass of bubbly champagne.
beside you, bella gives you a concerned look— taking a much more delicate sip out of her own glass. she's been giving you the same glances for the past hour, and at this point you've completely pretended you weren't aware of them. because you're honestly embarrassed of your own actions— anytime the door of the miller's home squeaked open, your eyes would shoot over at an alarming rate, trying to see who was walking in...trying to see if it was him.
"he's probably on his way." bella's voice is soft—comforting, placing her tiny fingers on your wrist to grab your attention.
you decide to play dumb—nonchalant—though when you've had as many drinks as you've had, is practically impossible. "who?"
this time it's brock who gives you a look behind bella, but unlike the sympathetic look you've been getting from his girlfriend, brock's eyes glaze with vexation. he doesn't save you with sugary words or a reassuring smile, just a deadpan expression. "you know who, y/n/n. quinn."
you laugh through a raspberry, borderline snorting at his words.
brock sighs knowingly, very much used to the whole....thing you’ve got going on with quinn— and your denial that comes along with it.
"why would I care if quinn is coming?"
brock's brows raise. "nobody asked you that."
your face falls, your skin heating up with a mixture of embarrassment and the alcohol running ramped through your bloodstream. "well, I know what you were insinuating."
"wasn't insinuating anything-"
"alright," bella cuts of gently, squeezing brock's bicep in an almost warning manner—she knows better than to not argue with you when it comes to the topic of quinn hughes. "what brock is trying to say is that it's okay that you're looking for quinn, y/n/n. he said he'd be here by now."
you wave your hand, dismissing your friend nonchalantly. "I know. i'm not worried."
bella hums. "okay. but's it's fine if you are."
"i'm not. we're just friends."
anytime somebody would ask about your and quinn's seemingly suggestive relationship, they'd always look at you with disbelief when you'd tell them you're just friends. well, friends that suggestively cuddle, kiss and have sex...but friends nonetheless.
you met quinn in 2018 at a barbecue brock was hosting. you'd been friends with brock since you met at the coffee shop you'd worked at the year before—when you'd spilled his coffee all over the pick up counter right in front of him. oddly enough, he found you charming and the two of you became fast friends.
he quickly brought you into his hockey world, where you met many different people and athletes that soon became your extended friends. when brock introduced you to quinn right infront of the grill at said barbecue lunch, you'd just about died.
quinn was cute in a dorky way, shying away from your strong eye-contact and smiley face. with his quick wit, nerdy tendencies and independence, quinn hughes was exactly your type, and it wasn't long until you two grew close.
your strong friendship eventually shifted into a more sensual relationship, and you found yourselves in a little dance that others know as friends with benefits.
and that worked for you both. not only did you get the fun, relaxed and sweet side of a best friend, but you also got that dirty, dominant and sexy side of a boyfriend. you both basked in the comfortability your arrangement brought, as well as the intimacy shared between you.
but then something shifted. you noticed that you started to really care about how you looked around quinn, and how you acted. you begin to care about how quinn perceived you and what he thought of you. you'd get nervous when he'd lean in for a kiss after a hard game, and when his touches would linger you'd get filled with butterflies. you liked him — you still do.
it's just that…you know you shouldn't feel this way, especially for a friend, regardless of the sexual relationship between you. so you pretend and suppress your feelings in fear of loosing quinn completely—-because you've become completely reliant upon the connection between you, and the thought of losing that is heartbreaking.
bella sighs gently, but knowingly, raising her glass back towards her painted lips. "for sure."
a chorus of cheers sounds all around you, and the sudden shift in energy has you looking back towards the door. you try and peer through the mini crowd, moving through the space around large bodies of athletes to see who's captured the rooms attention.
you catch sight of familiar floppy brown hair, followed by quinn's unmistakable smile. instantly you feel lighter, and the grin that makes its way onto your face is probably embarrassing.
there's a petite blonde girl next to him—with perfect skin and a blinding smile. she daintily wraps her hands around quinn's bicep, eyes wide as she introduces herself to jt miller and his wife.
and just as quickly your smile fades, eyes darting away from the unfolding scene in front of you. bella says your name gently—sympathetically—reaching towards you as she grazes your arm.
you gently shake her off, plastering on a fake smile. "I'm going to get a refill." you shake your half full champagne glass in the general direction of the kitchen, a wordless action that speaks a million words.
it's not that you're upset that quinn's seemingly brought a girl with him to this new year's party. you're upset that it's making you feel so distraught and heartbroken. you shuffle through the room, slinking through warm bodies and smiling faces until you're walking into the kitchen.
you try and keep your unshed tears at bay, breathing deeply as you top up your flute of alcohol. "fucks sake." you mumble to yourself, taking a hearty sip of your drink.
"you good?" the deep voice of elias pettersson has you jumping. the swede is leaning against the counter casually, sipping what looks like glass of white wine, eyeing you amusingly.
"I didn't know you were in here." you say, turning towards the blonde slowly.
he hums, swallowing the mouthful of wine. "quinn here?"
"yup." you nod, popping the p.
"ah yes." elias sighs, looking behind you as he peers into the crowded space. he finds quinn quickly, the captain ever so lively around his friends— he also sees the girl next to him. "he's brought a friend."
you snort. "yeah I know all about being his friend."
the assistant caption eyes you gently, a small sympathetic pull at his mouth. "sorry y/n/n."
you've always liked elias. he's similar to brock in the way they both speak their mind and never feel the need to sugar coat the truth, but elias is often more laid back and less judgmental than brock can be. a lot of the time you think if you weren't in love with quinn, you'd be with elias.
an idea pops into your head, turning your rather solemn expression into a scheming one. you look at elias with a smile, to which he raises his brows questionably. "actually, do you mind helping me with something?"
he squints curiously. "what?"
you walk up to him slowly, your grin unwavering. as you reach elias, you gently trail your fingers down his exposed arm, tracing your nails over one of his bulging veins. "just follow my lead."
—
quinn has looked at you twice in the past 40 minutes...twice. the first time was when you walked out of the kitchen, clutching elias's arm as you leaned into him. quinn's brows pulled together questionably, eyeing you and his teammates close proximity, but you didn't give him the satisfaction of your attention, directing you both towards the heart of the home where the mingling was happening.
the second time was only 10 minutes ago. you'd been watching your friend from a distance, a scowl on your face as you watch that blonde girl whisper in quinn's ear, raised on her toes with a small hand cupped around his ear. quinn had caught your jealous gaze, sending you an irritated look.
you scoffed, quickly turning your attention back to bella and brock, standing only with them while elias was getting you another drink.
you've been pulling out all the stops in an attempt to gets quinn's attention. if you weren't laughing loudly at everything elias said, you were touching him seductively or dancing against him — all things to try and spark jealousy in quinn.
but if anything, it was making you feel even worse about the situation. the weird and heartbroken emotions running through you—combined with the alcohol you'd been continuously drinking throughout the night— has you needing a breather.
you excuse yourself from elias with a mumble about the bathroom, and you don't really hear his gentle response as you stumble away, slinking though the crowded miller home towards the stair case.
thankfully the lighting in the house is dim, so nobody notices you climbing up towards the second floor, barley keeping yourself in a straight line— too caught up in your own thoughts and emotions to focus on anything but.
the spare bedroom is the first room you stumble upon, quickly slipping inside the beautifully decorated space and letting the door click shut behind you. now finally by yourself with nothing but the bass of the music downstairs tickling your feet, you let yourself fall apart.
the tears don't come immediately, but the sobbing noise that leaves your chest is instant and intense. you clutch the pendant of your necklace, grounding yourself as your emotions come bubbling to the surface.
not only are you feeling heartbroken and hurt by your own feelings for quinn, but you're now also feeling guilty for attaching yourself to his teammate all night in some sad attempt at trying to ignite jealousy. usually you'd be more mature about a situation like this, but once again the champagne in your system has other plans.
you wipe your face, praying that your makeup look doesn't go completely down the drain and you still look somewhat presentable. you think it must be nearing midnight, and you're sure bella and brock are wondering where you've slipped away too.
you sigh reluctantly, sniffling away any lingering emotion as you make your way back towards the door. just before you can reach for the handle, it turns before you, the door swinging open to reveal quinn.
his face changes at the sight of you. there's a flash of relief on his face, like he'd been looking for you and has finally found you. but that expression quickly changes as quinn pushes himself into the bedroom, closing the door quickly. he looks irritated—the kind of expression you'd see if he gets asked a stupid question by a reporter.
he looks you up and down quickly, assessing you with an unfamiliar pull at his lips. quinn meets your uncertain gaze. "you fucking elias now?"
you blink in shock, mouth falling open like you're a fish out of water. "what?" you're practically seething, looking at quinn with a distant glare.
he scoffs. "I think you heard me."
his condescending tone has you feeling angry and worse of all, judged—quinn is in no place to judge you after he's brought somebody with him tonight. "what if I am?" you question, irritation clear in your voice. you take a step towards him, anger radiating off of you. "why do you care?"
quinn makes a disgruntled noise in the back of his throat, wide eyed as he steps closer to you. "why do I care? are you being serious right now?"
"yes, quinn." you huff, crossing your arms roughly. "you can't storm in here and start grilling me about what i'm doing in my personal life, when you've brought someone with you tonight. or have you already forgotten about her as well?"
you're being petty, you're well aware of that—but the wrath and embarrassment running through your bloodstream has you not caring.
quinn eyes you again, stepping even closer to you—his movements laced with disbelief and annoyance. "if you're implying that i've forgotten about you…well that's just straight stupid."
you laugh in disbelief. "oh! so now i'm stupid?"
"no — what you're saying is stupid."
you scoff for what feels like the hundredth time this conversation. you don't even want to be arguing with quinn, especially when you're drunk and feeling heartbroken— the latter unbeknownst to him. you swallow gently, attempting to suppress the emotion creeping up your throat. "who is she?"
quinn shakes his head, his expression turning softer as he analyses you—sensing your shift in emotion and body language. "she's nobody."
"she's nobody but you brought her here? that doesn't make sense." your eyes flicker to the shaggy rug under your feet, blinking away unshed tears. you've passed the sheer anger you'd been feeling, left only with disappointment and sadness. "are you fucking her?"
quinn rubs his stubble roughly, and you can practically see the whirlwind of thoughts running through his head. his eyes find your yours, a hard expression in his face. "are you fucking elias? i'm still waiting for that answer. because you seemed pretty cozy with him since I got here."
"yeah," you nod roughly. "and that's no thanks to you, quinn. you haven't even come up to me tonight. god forbid you greet me—your friend—when there's a girl on your arm."
"were not just friends and you know it. so don't start that with me." quinn's tone is firm—warning—taking a step closer to your ridged body. he's now close enough to reach out and touch, and you so badly are craving that intimacy. but you hold back, keeping your expression as neutral as possible despite wanting to close the distance between you.
"oh, okay. what are we then quinn?" you question, your tone hard and determined. in a moment of vulnerability, your expression shifts, voice creaking with emotion. "because i'm so lost here."
quinn's eyes flicker across your flushed face. he's slightly breathless, watching you, like he can't keep his breathing steady. you hadn't even realized that you started to cry until he gently reaches towards you, thumb delicately wiping away the tears before they continue to fall. "fuck, i'm sorry." quinn's other hand runs over your head, flattening down your styled hair. "I hate seeing you upset—hey look at me."
you meet his gaze once again, tearing it away from your shoes. quinn looks extremely guilty and concerned— the latter due to your clear distress and sadness. "i'm such an idiot." he mumbles softly, "you can hit me if you want."
his words, so genuine and lighthearted, has a small splurge of giggles bubbling up your chest. you shake your head, "I don't want to hit you."
the ghost of a smile pulls at his mouth, and he nods once. quinn's thumb gently runs over your cheekbone, soothingly rubbing the high point of your rather warm face. "okay."
his words are so quiet and hushed it has you stomach swooping in a pleasant drop. quinn slowly leans down, running the tip of his nose along the bridge of yours—an affectionate nudge. you tilt your head farther back, allowing the most space for quinn to lean in and press his lips to yours.
it's a familiar and comforting pressure, your lips slotting together like they've done hundreds of times before. your arms uncross, falling limp at your sides as you let quinn hold your face, leading you in the steady exchange.
you sigh into his mouth, a breathy sound that has quinn deepening the kiss. his tongue easily slips past your parted, wet lips. instinctively your hands slip up quinn's chest, resting against his hard pecks. you gently grip the round muscle, nails digging into his flesh as you ground yourself.
your tongues move together slowly and gently—like there is all the time in the world. but, there's not all the time in the world, and you're still heartbroken and confused about everything. not just about tonight, but the entirety of your and quinn's arrangement.
you frown into the kiss, pulling away from quinn. his brows are pulled tight, eyes pinched shut as he collects his breathing—recovering from the intimate moment.
"quinny." his nickname is spoke in a breathy whisper, brushing against his slick lips. the emotion is still clogging up your airway, pushing its way to the surface. "I can't do this anymore."
his eyes snap open, glazed with a mixture of lust from your previous exchange, and worry caused by your vulnerable statement. "can't do what?" quinn's breathes hopefully—nervously.
you swallow gently, allowing yourself to linger in the last bit of time and space where your secrets are kept secret. because after this, all your feelings and love for quinn will be exposed, and the chance of your heart snapping in half becomes much more real—much more terrifying. "I can't keep pretending I don't want more with you. all this time we've been engaging in this friends with benefits stuff, i've been trying my best to not give into the idea of having more. but the more we fuck around with each other—care for each other—the more my feelings grow."
you sniffle, looking up at quinn. you can't read the expression on his face, it's one you've never seen before. he doesn't make a move to speak, only looking at you with that soft warmth in his eyes. you continue gently, "and I don't know how much more of this I can take, quinny. i'm attracted to you in any and every way there is to be attracted to someone. and I know we promised one another this would never happen and-"
you're stopped as quinn brings you into his embrace, pulling you towards his chest while his arms wrap around you in a tight hug. your cheek rests between his pecks perfectly, and that combined with everything else has you breaking down again.
you let out a disgruntled sob, turning to hide your wet face in quinn's shirt.
"I know baby." quinn's voice is so quiet, spoken into your hairline before he presses a firm kiss against your head. "it's okay."
you shake your head against him. "i'm so sorry—i've ruined everything. i've ruined us."
he gently pushes you back, just enough so that he can look at you properly. you're sure you look like a hot mess with mascara tinted tears pooling under your eyes, and a runny nose, but you don't find yourself to care. all you can focus on is quinn’s gentle frown and the way he delicately tucks a strand of hair behind your ear.
his hand lingers there, resting around the side of your neck, just above your gold necklace chain. "how have you ruined us?"
his question is so genuine, like he can't even think of a reason of why your confession would change the set arrangement between the two of you. you almost want to laugh—whether it's in embarrassment or disbelief...you're not too sure.
"because you don't want me like that." not only is your timid response a stab in your gut, but it's also a stab in quinn's.
his thumb sweeps across your jawline, his gaze tender and determined. quinn's tongue darts between his teeth, gently wetting the plump skin of his bottom lip. quinn's eyes sweep over your face, his thoughts running a million miles an hour. but then something shifts.
his expression turns into something more determined—more sure, and with a breathy sigh, he speaks. "I brought lyla here to try and make you jealous. which is super shitty of me, I know, but I didn't know how else to like navigate these feelings i've been having for you. especially because I thought they were unrequited."
oh.
oh.
you blink three times, trying to process the words that just left quinn's mouth. "huh?" you babble like a fish, mouth opening in surprise, shock, and above all relief.
the smile that grows on quinn's face is the cherry on top of everything, and the sight of his grin has you knowing that you heard him right. "I've never fucked her or anybody besides you since we started seeing each other."
"you haven't?"
he shakes his head. "no, and i'm sorry because they way I went about everything tonight was just awful." quinn's hands are so warm and steady against your skin, gently tickling your face as he continues to run his thumbs over your jaw.
"i'm not with elias." you admit. "when I saw you walk in with that girl, I wanted to make you jealous…and elias agreed to help me."
his smile widens at your confession, and he doesn't feel so guilty anymore. the same goes for you, and knowing that your love isn't as unrequited as you thought, you feel yourself finally cracking a real smile.
"are you mad at me?" you ask timidly, leaning into the round of quinn's palm.
he pauses in a dramatic faux thought, humming gently. "not even a little bit." quinn cracks, his smile making its way back onto his flushed face. quinn leans back into your space, lips brushing against yours in an almost kiss. "i'm like falling crazy in love with you."
his words are so quiet—so intimate—plump lips brushing against yours as he talks. it's almost ticklish, and the feeling makes you giggle, and you desperately try to squirm away.
quinn chases you, arms tightening around you as his lips find your jawline. he starts pressing chaste kisses against the bone, quickly trailing down your neck.
you sigh in pleasure, eyes flickering shut as you fall into the euphoric feeling. quinn continues his way down, passing occasionally to suck your perfume flavoured skin into his mouth teasingly.
"say it back." you feel him smirk against you before he gently bites down on you playfully.
you squeal with laughter, continuing your attempt in escaping wounds teasing attack. this time, he lets you pull back, watching you with a fond smile.
"say what?" your attempt at faux innocence quickly falls on deaf ears, and quinn begins tickling your side. you laugh again, falling into his warm, familiar chest.
this feels like the relationship you've grown to love with quinn—this is exactly the dynamic you two have created and the reason you fell so easily in love with your friend.
you wrap your arms around quinn's neck, pushing up onto your tip toes so you're at eye level with him. your smile is subtle, but to quinn it's as promising as the world.
"I'm falling deeply and truly in love with you." you whisper, eyes flickering between quinn's.
he closes the gap between you again, connecting your lips in another passionate kiss. this time the exchange is more rushed—desperate—like you're both trying to pour years of suppressed feelings into this one kiss.
and as the sound of new years rumbles through the house, cheers and celebration from friends floating up the stairs and finding your ears— you know there's nowhere else you're supposed to be.

Crying broke through the still night air. They crackled slightly, muffled through the baby monitor on your bedside table. Nonetheless, you were awake.
The bed is already starting to shift when you're opening your eyes. You blindly reach out and grab onto the soft sleeve of Zayne's pajama shirt.
"I've got it..." you murmur. "She's prob’ly hungry."
He watches blearily as you slowly push yourself up into a sit. "Are you sure?"
You hum, nodding. You let go of him and pick up the monitor, waving it in the air with a playful, yet sleepy, grin. "It's on my side tonight, remember?" You turn down the volume, set it back down and get to your feet. "Go back to bed, lovey. I'll be back soon."
Zayne sighs, but he stays where he is as you pull a cardigan of his around your shoulders. He listens to the sounds of your shared home: the quiet shuffle of your slippers, the hiccuping cries of your daughter, the soothing lilt of your voice as you calm her down.
He glances at the digital clock beside him. It's only 2am; there's still plenty of time to get enough sleep for work tomorrow. As much as his body wants to fight the exhaustion and join you, he knows you'd scold him if he tried. He trusts you, anyway. There's nothing he can do right now to help.
So, he slips back under the blankets and turns onto his side. As the blankets fall into place, the rustling silences, and he tunes back into the lullaby you sing. It leads him down into the embrace of a peaceful slumber.
When next he wakes, he's disoriented. He blinks droopily at the emptiness of your side of the bed, then at the clock that reads 3:30am. There's no distinct sounds coming from the baby monitor. Down the hall is quiet. Why aren't you in bed?
He pushes the blankets off of himself and sits up, sliding on his slippers like it’s second nature. The cool air of the bedroom doesn't bother him as he crosses the room and out the door.
The door to the nursery is wide open. Blue moonlight pours though, spilling onto the floor and up the opposite wall. He squints slightly as he peeks inside. Any fears he could have vanish as he sees you.
You're sitting back in the armchair beside the window, head tilted back at an awkward angle and mouth open around quiet snores. Your shirt is pulled down to expose one of your breasts. Your daughter is using it as a pillow as your arms securely hold her, even as you are fast asleep.
Zayne drinks it all in. Your sleep-rumpled hair and dark eye bags, the shimmer of a drool trail along your chin, the uncomfortable way the collar of your shirt pulls against the underside of your breast. Your daughter, Jasmine, his beloved little flower, clinging with her tiny baby fists to his cardigan you stole, her chubby cheek resting against your skin and the other catching a stray moonbeam. He considers taking a photo of the moment, though he eventually decides against it. His two girls need to be put to bed and he doesn't wish to delay that any longer. Besides, if nothing else, this moment has been seared into his mind. That is enough for him.
He's as quiet as can be as he crosses the room to the chair. Carefully, he slowly pries Jasmine's hands from the cardigan. Her body is so small and warm in his hands as he lifts her into his arms. Oftentimes, he's overwhelmed with the desire to hold her forever, to feel her tiny little heartbeat alongside his own. Just like people save ultrasounds or ink-presses of their child's feet and hands, Zayne wonders if it would be strange to save an echocardiogram as a memento.
She doesn't stir as he lays her down in the crib. Her long, dark eyelashes curl over her round cheeks, picturesque. Her onesie is covered in little snowmen. He should make one for her with his Evol tomorrow. He can only imagine the bright-eyed stare she'd give him as he creates such cute things out of thin air.
Leaning down, he presses the lightest of kisses to her head, just barely starting to see hair growth. Now to take care of the other girl in his life.
Nimble fingers pull your shirt back over your breast, drawing the open sides of the cardigan together to keep you warm. He debates between waking you or not. And although he really should wake you, he ends up lifting you from the chair and into his arms. The moonlight caresses his back as he carries you down the hall, back to your bedroom. He tucks your feet in first as he lays you down before pulling the blankets up over you. Just as he did with Jasmine, he kisses your forehead, willing portions of his soul to transfer to you in hopes he can somehow get across how much he utterly and truly loves you.
He grabs the baby monitor before he rounds the bed back to his side. He turns the volume dial back up and sets it on his nightstand beside the clock. You'll get onto him about it being your turn to take care of the baby for the entire night, a system born out of his tendency to do everything himself due to his workaholic nature. He'll accept the scolding come daylight. You'll forgive him. You always do. Even if it's with an exaggerated sigh and a fond eye roll.
He lays on his side to face you, the love of his life. He couldn't dream of being anywhere but here, by your side, as he allows sleep to overcome him once again.
-
He wakes up.
Hollow.
He always feels hollow after dreams like that. And why shouldn't he feel the weight of what is missing in his life?
His bed is empty save for him. The room down the hall is full of random stuff he can't be bothered to worry about. It's a guest room; he's not having any guests over, so why bother?
The void within him cries to be filled. It opens like a yawning mouth, only an unfathomable depth waiting within, yearning for that life. The life that doctor has. A life he can never have.
Never will he be able to wake up to your face right beside him. Never will he be able to hold his daughter. Never will he be able to have that life with you.
It isn't fair. It's not-
He presses the balls of his hands into his eyes, biting back the shuddering breaths and the sting of tears. He’ll be forced to watch his daughter grow up through that doctor’s eyes. And it’s not even his. He has no rights to make a claim on her. He never will.
Relegated to watching you grow old through someone else’s eyes, instead of being there with you, to hold and help and love.
The sensor beeps nearby. He turns his head to look, blinking away the moisture in his eyes and meeting the breaking dawn that shines in through the window. A red dot blinks at him. It’s only a few blocks away.
He imagines for a brief second if the victim this time was you.
You, carrying a little baby in your arms, calling him a murderer. The idea of taking her life-
He closes his eyes and wills the thoughts away. Damn that doctor for having the life he can never have. Damn him.

he's leaning against your kitchen counter, fingers tapping against it as he's poised so deliberately to give off the impression that everything he's doing is so absent-minded. the way he's scrolling through his feed so aimlessly, just tuned out from the world, including you and your futile attempts at getting his attention.
you call his name, tug at his sleeve, and you don't miss the mischievous smirk on his lips as he glances up at you.
"i don't know who that is, sorry, i hope you find him though."
it's infuriating, sometimes, when he lets his more playful side out. but you know him well, and you play along, not being able to help the smile that fights to stay on your lips.
"well then, my beloved, could you help me look for him?"
and there's an instant change from him, back straightening as he stops leaning against your counter, arms open wide to receive you, a beam on his face.
"gladly, my love."

you're barely awake, but you smile to yourself at the newfound comfort, having drifted away as you slept, and now happily reunited.
"i missed you," he breathes against your ear, turning his head to dip down and press kisses to your cheek. you smile, nose scrunching at the ends of his hair that tickle your skin, but welcome it nonetheless.
his arm slips around you, keeping you safely anchored to him, and he lets out a contented hum that almost sounds like he's purring, chest solid against your back.
"you're acting like you've come back from war," you murmur, and he can hear the way you tease even in your half asleep state.

it's ... endearing, to say the least. it comes from a place of love, that's for sure. make no mistake that you like to bite him too, but he still manages to one-up you each time.

you don't have to turn around to know that he's pouting, some grown ass man acting like a toddler in hopes that you'd pay attention to him. you can't help but roll your eyes, what with him pushing the limit between cute and aggravating for the past half an hour or so.
ever since you had invited him over and he practically let himself in, he had basically followed you from room to room, huffing and puffing as you focused on your work instead of entertaining him.
and as you finally settled in your room, at your desk, you watched out of the corner of your eye as he flopped down onto your bed, his head dangling off the edge as he scrolled through his phone half-heartedly.
and you had to admit, he looked cute like that. you bite back your smile as you see him glance up at you to see if you're looking at him before flopping back down on the bed with a huff.
you'll be done soon, then you'll give him all the attention he wants.

✭ ✭ ✭
Yunho always woke up before you. He was an early riser anyway, always waking up with the sun, but something about laying in bed beside you usually compelled him to wake up before you did.
The side effects of this usually led to him pulling you further into his chest so he could play with your hair or rub you back. And of course you never minded because it meant waking up to his soft touches every morning.
There were mornings, though, when he’d wake up and see you lying there, your soft lips parted, the fabric of your sleep shirt shifted in a way that exposed your chest, your arms sprawled out above your head in a way that just left you so open and available for him.
And he couldn’t fucking resist you. When you rolled away from him onto your side, he took that as the perfect opportunity to press up into you.
“Yu..” you whined out softly, barely awake feeling his hard on through your thin panties.
“Baby, can I put it in?” He husked in your ear. His lips barely brushed the skin, “You don’t have to do anything. Just let me take care of you, ok?”
You nodded, on the brink of falling back asleep, “Ok.”
Before you could even brace yourself, he’d pulled your panties aside and buried himself in you completely.
He moaned softly in your ear. “Your pussy is so warm, baby.”
His thrusts were slow and measured, and he snaked one arm around your waist to play with your clit. He choked on a breath when you tightened around him at the stimulation.
Even in his freshly-awake state, he was so in tune with your body. Basking in the little gasps you let out every time his cock bottomed out inside you. He loved your noises. Your gasps when he touched a new place. The way you would whine and beg him to go faster.
“Oh Yu…please,” you choked out, “Faster. Please.” They were such pathetic ramblings, but he lived for it.
And he happily obliged. Thrusting into you faster and faster and if he could’ve gone any deeper he would’ve.
He couldn’t fully give you the pleasure you needed from this angle, though. So he flips you onto your stomach. Letting you rest your face in the pillows.
From here he can get exactly what he needs, a pretty whiny, mess. And his favorite part is watching you try to pathetically try to cover your moans in the pillows.
“You don’t have to be quiet, baby~” He teased. “Let it all out.”
His words alone brought a low whine out from your throat.
“I fill you up good, don’t I?” He leaned over your back, the thin sheen of sweat on his chest causing his skin to stick to any part of you back that was exposed. “Don’t hide your moans. Let me know how good you feel.”
“Full…”
“Yeah?” He held his hips in place, filling every inch of you. He brought his fingers back to your clit, and, while his thrusting had stopped, the pleasure was far from gone. “Can you cum like this?”
“Mhm. ‘M really close.”
He groaned as you tightened around him, “Fuck. Please cum for me. Cum on my cock, baby.”
Your grip on the pillows under you tightened. And the pleasure from your hot cunt squeezing him for dear life was enough to push him over the edge. You came together. Your legs collapsing under you, and his breaths ragged.
He kissed your shoulder, the nape of your neck, your spine. His hands massaged your thighs and your ass.
“Good morning my love.”
You sighed, incredibly content, “Morning~”
The way his hands worked on your muscles was enough to make you not ever wanna leave bed. “Do you wanna go get breakfast?”
You shook your head, and he chuckled.
“We can’t stay in bed all day, baby.”
“We totally can,” you rolled over onto your back and wrapped your arms around his neck.
“What are you doing?”
“Making sure you don’t get out of bed.”
“Well,” he kissed you softly, “I guess I could just eat you for breakfast.”
You smacked him in the chest, “Stop, don’t ever say that again. That was horrible.”
He chuckled, “I’m sorry.” He paused, “Is that a no to me eating you out, though?”
“What? No!?” And before you could blink, his face had disappeared between your legs.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST: You, a half-blind witch, form a sibling-like bond with Luffy, Ace, and Sabo after a chance meeting in your childhood, sharing joyous moments together. However, when your magic accidentally destroys villagers’ homes, fear and guilt convince you that witches like you don’t belong in society. To protect the boys, you choose to leave them behind. Years later, they reunite with you—no longer the sweet, innocent sister they cherished but a feared “wicked witch,” shaped by the world’s rejection. Luffy, Ace, and Sabo, now fiercely protective of you, refuse to let you go again, regardless of what it takes.
NOTES: Sorry this took so long! I hope I pulled off the platonic Yandere thing well. It’s been a while since I’ve written, haha.
WARNINGS: FEMALE READER + NOT PROOFREAD
You, a half-blind young witch with a knack for avoiding trouble (or so you tell yourself), are peacefully gathering herbs in the forest near Grey Terminal. You’re humming a little tune under your breath, your wand at the ready as you delicately pluck some rare leaves off a bush. The goal is simple: stay hidden, avoid the villagers who already think you’re the star of some horror story, and keep your magic under wraps.
Easy, right? Wrong.
Because when you least expect it, the whirlwind trio known as Luffy, Sabo, and Ace quite literally crash into your life.
It starts with Luffy, because of course, it does. You’re mid-spell—probably something harmless like mending a torn leaf—when you hear an enthusiastic, “HEY! What are you doing with that stick?!” His voice is so loud it might as well echo across the entire forest.
You whip around in shock, clutching your wand like it’s your lifeline. Luffy’s wide-eyed grin is already locked onto you like he’s just found the coolest treasure in the East Blue. “Wait, is that magic? Can you make me fly?!” he continues, completely ignoring the obvious panic on your face.
Sabo, ever the voice of reason, walks up behind him, his hat tilted slightly as he gives you a calm, reassuring smile. “Luffy, maybe don’t freak her out, okay? Look, you’re scaring her.” Then he turns to you, hands raised like he’s trying to show you he’s not a threat. “Hey, sorry about him. He’s just… loud. Really loud.”
But you can tell even Sabo is curious. His sharp eyes keep flicking toward your wand like he’s trying to figure out how it works. He’s calm, sure, but there’s a twinkle in his eye that says, Tell me your secrets, and I’ll tell you mine.
Then there’s Ace.
While Luffy’s practically bouncing in place and Sabo’s trying to play mediator, Ace hangs back with his arms crossed, leaning against a tree. He’s doing his best to look disinterested, but his glances toward you are far from subtle. He’s clearly curious too, but his pride won’t let him admit it.
Instead, he grumbles under his breath, “It’s just a stick. What’s the big deal?” But then he catches you shrinking back a little, clutching your wand like it’s a shield, and his expression softens just a fraction. He doesn’t say it out loud, but his thoughts are something like, If these idiots scare her off, I’ll bonk their heads.
You, meanwhile, are frozen. These three boys are loud, chaotic, and way too close for comfort. You’re used to being the weird girl that everyone avoids, not someone who suddenly has an audience. You keep your head down, trying to mumble some excuse about just gathering herbs, but Luffy isn’t having it.
“Why are you hiding your face? Are you a witch or something?!” he blurts out, completely ruining your subtle attempt to slip away unnoticed. Sabo smacks him on the head with a look that screams, Seriously? Did you have to say that?
But despite your nervousness, you can’t help but notice that they’re… different. Chaotic, definitely. But still different nonetheless.
Luffy’s unrelenting cheerfulness and total lack of judgment start to chip away at your defenses. He keeps firing off questions: “Can you turn me into a frog? What about Ace? He’d make a funny frog.” He’s impossible to ignore, and before you know it, you find yourself giggling—just a little—at his antics.
Sabo, ever observant, notices your hesitation and starts asking gentler questions, like, “So how’d you learn to use magic?” or “What are you gathering the herbs for?” He’s patient, waiting for you to answer in your own time, and you start to feel like maybe he really wants to understand.
Ace is the last to come around, but when he does, it’s in his own blunt, awkward way. “You don’t need to be scared of us,” he says one day, still leaning against that same tree, watching you quietly. “We’re not like those villagers. And if anyone bothers you, I’ll punch ‘em.” It’s not exactly poetry, but it’s enough to make you feel like maybe you don’t have to hide from them.
Over time, the three of them settle into their roles as your self-appointed guardians. Luffy is the overenthusiastic protector, ready to fight anyone who looks at you funny. “She’s my little sister now!” he declares one day, completely out of the blue.
Sabo, the logical one, tries to reign Luffy in but still makes it his mission to teach you things like self-defense and how to stand up for yourself.
Ace, though still a little gruff, is fiercely protective, always keeping an eye out for trouble—even if it means starting a fight before one even begins.
From the moment you meet the trio, they decide you're their little sister. It’s not a question, not something you get to vote on—it’s just a fact now.
“You’re stuck with us,” Luffy announces proudly one day, grinning from ear to ear. You try to argue, maybe mumble something about being fine on your own, but it’s like talking to a brick wall with too much energy???
The more time you spend with them, the more you realize that, half-blind or not, witch or not, these three couldn’t care less about the things that made you feel like an outcast. Instead, they admire you for it.
Luffy is your personal cheerleader. He’s constantly pestering you to show off your magic, bouncing in excitement every time you do. “Do the thing again! The flower thing! That was so cool!” he demands, eyes sparkling. If you try to argue that it’s not a big deal, he pouts like a child denied dessert.
The second you cave and make something levitate or bloom, he cheers so loudly it startles the birds. “You’re so cool!” he shouts, clapping like you just won the World Cup.
Ace, of course, is Ace. He teases you relentlessly, calling you a “little show-off” whenever Luffy gets his way and you perform some magical trick. But there’s an undertone to his teasing that’s almost… proud.
He’ll smirk and say something like, “Guess you’re not completely useless, huh?” but the next thing you know, he’s nudging you and whispering, “Hey, can you teach me how to do that? But don’t tell Luffy—I don’t need him getting ideas.” He even goes out of his way to help you practice in secret, keeping an eye out for nosy villagers while you experiment with spells.
And then there’s Sabo. Ever the curious intellectual, he bombards you with questions about witchcraft. “So how does it work? Is it instinct or something you have to study? What’s the difference between a potion and a spell?”
He listens intently to every answer, nodding like he’s filing the information away for future use. You suspect he’s secretly trying to find a way to combine your magic with his own cunning plans, but you let it slide. At least someone respects your craft in a way that feels… academic.
The three of them quickly become your fiercest protectors. Any time someone in the village so much as mutters the word “witch” in a tone that isn’t pure reverence, Luffy is already halfway to throwing hands. “What did you say about her?!” he yells, fists up and ready.
Ace isn’t much better—he glares daggers at anyone who dares insult you, his body practically radiating heat like he’s daring them to try something.
Sabo, ever the peacemaker, steps in to smooth things over. But even he isn’t above reminding people to watch their tongues, even if he’s a little kid.
And then there’s Ace’s quiet gestures of care. He has this uncanny ability to position himself exactly where your blind eye is, like he’s made it his personal mission to act as your missing sight.
If you’re sitting and eating together, he’ll subtly take the spot where your blind side faces, keeping watch without making a big deal about it. If you ask him about it, he’ll just shrug and mumble, “What? Someone’s gotta make sure nothing sneaks up on you.” It’s his way of protecting you without drawing too much attention to it—well, that, and he secretly likes knowing you trust him to have your back.
The four of you became a force of nature—barefoot chaos tearing through the forests, climbing trees, and building treehouses that somehow always managed to collapse halfway through construction because, surprise, Luffy would decide mid-project that “we should add a slide!” or “what if we make it taller so it touches the clouds?!”
Despite the structural failures, those rickety treehouses became your safe havens, filled with laughter, scraps of stolen food, and the occasional argument over who got to sit in the “cool corner.” Sneaking into the Grey Terminal became your second favorite activity—after surviving the treehouse disasters, of course. For the first time in your life, you didn’t feel like “the blind witch” or an outsider; you were just you.
The boys never treated your blindness or magic as weaknesses—instead, they were quirks they’d hype up endlessly. Ace would nudge you and go, “C’mon, show me that spell again. You know, the one that made Luffy trip over his own feet for an hour.”
Sabo, ever the strategist, decided to take a more practical approach: “You should learn to fight with a pipe like me,” he said one day, handing you one. “Imagine if you combined magic and combat. You’d be unbeatable!” Of course, this idea got Luffy so hyped that he tried to fight both of you at once. It ended with him tangled in vines after you accidentally cast a spell mid-sparring session.
And Luffy? Oh, Luffy was a one-man cheer squad who took his role very seriously. He’d bounce around like a rubber ball, practically yelling, “Do something cool! Do something cool!” every time you so much as looked at your wand. If you didn’t comply fast enough, he’d lean in way too close with a giant grin and plead, “Pleeeeeeease?” until you caved.
On one memorable occasion, you enchanted a stick to bop him on the head every time he spoke. Instead of being mad, he laughed so hard he cried, running in circles and yelling, “IT’S ALIVE! THIS IS AWESOME!” Sabo and Ace had to physically hold him down to stop him from naming it and keeping it as a pet.
Ace, ever the “cool big brother,” tried to play it off like he wasn’t as impressed by your magic. “Yeah, it’s okay, I guess,” he’d say with a smirk before sneaking over later to ask if you could enchant his pipe or teach him a spell.
Despite his teasing, he was the most protective of your abilities. If anyone so much as looked at you funny for being a witch, Ace would give them the most nastiest glare a child could give. And if they dared to say something out loud? Oh, boy. Let’s just say the villagers learned quickly to keep their opinions to themselves when Ace was around. He’s got a mean mouth too.
Despite the chaos and the bickering, the boys loved your optimistic view of the world. You’d sit together under the stars, your eyes shining with hope as you said things like, “Maybe one day, they’ll see witches aren’t all bad.”
Luffy would nod so earnestly it made you smile. “Yeah! And if they don’t, I’ll just punch ‘em until they do!” he’d declare with his trademark confidence. Sabo would chuckle, resting his chin in his hand. “Or we could change their minds without violence. That tends to work better,” he’d add, though his smile always carried a hint of mischief. And Ace? He’d ruffle your hair in that big-brother way of his and say, “Don’t worry about them. We’ve got your back, and that’s all you’ll ever need.”
No matter how bleak things looked, they made sure you never lost that spark of hope. “We’ll make the world better for you,” Sabo promised one night, his voice soft but sure. “For all of us.” Ace nodded, his expression unusually serious. “And anyone who tries to hurt you? They’ll have to deal with us first.” Luffy, of course, chimed in last, his voice full of unshakable determination. “You’re never gonna be alone again! We’re your big brothers now, and that means forever!”
For the first time in forever, you believed it.
One fateful day, your world turned upside down in a way none of you could have foreseen. You were playing near the edge of the village with your three chaos-bringers-turned-big-brothers, attempting a new spell you’d seen in an old grimoire.
It was meant to be harmless—a little flick of your wand, a few whispered words, and voilà! A flower blooming out of season. Easy, right? Wrong. Maybe it was the pressure of your brothers cheering (read: screaming) in the background, or maybe it was the rock a villager hurled at you while yelling, "Get out of here, witch!" Either way, your concentration shattered, and the spell spun wildly out of control.
The explosion that followed wasn’t huge, but it was big enough to leave a crater in the ground and send a nearby chicken coop flying into the air like some bizarre farm-themed firework display. Several homes suffered damage too, their walls splintering from the force, and villagers scrambled in terror. It was chaos—absolute chaos—and in the middle of it all, you stood frozen, your wand trembling in your hand, horrified at what had just happened.
“I—I didn’t mean to," you stammered, tears streaming down your cheeks as you turned toward the villagers. “I’m sorry! I swear, I didn’t mean to!” But they weren’t listening. To them, this wasn’t an accident. It was proof—proof that the strange little witch-child was dangerous and couldn’t be trusted. Their fear quickly turned to anger, and soon a mob was forming, voices shouting things like, “She’s a menace!” and “She’ll destroy the whole village if we let her stay!”
Luffy’s response was as immediate as it was predictable: rage. “HEY, SHUT UP!” he yelled, stomping toward the crowd with all the righteous fury a child could muster. “It’s not her fault! She didn’t do anything wrong!” He planted himself firmly between you and the mob, his small fists clenched at his sides, his face red with anger. “You’re all just a bunch of jerks!” he added for good measure, as if that would settle the matter.
Sabo, the ever-calm strategist, tried a different approach. “Please, listen,” he said, stepping forward with his hands raised in a gesture of peace. “It was an accident, okay? She didn’t mean to hurt anyone.” His voice was steady, reasonable, the kind of voice that made people want to stop and think. Unfortunately, reason didn’t stand much of a chance against an angry mob.
Ace, however, wasn’t interested in reasoning. While Sabo tried to talk sense into the villagers and Luffy yelled at anyone who dared to interrupt, Ace grabbed a stick from the ground, his eyes blazing with determination. “If any of you so much as look at her wrong, you’ll have to go through me first,” he growled, positioning himself directly in front of you. Despite his small stature, he looked every bit the future fire-wielding pirate he’d one day become.
The three of them stood their ground like a tiny, scrappy army of misfits. Luffy stomped his foot and shouted threats at anyone who dared to step closer. Sabo spoke with a diplomat’s calm, though his clenched fists betrayed his growing frustration. And Ace? Ace was ready to fight. If anyone so much as twitched in your direction, that stick in his hand was going to meet its mark.
Despite being just kids, they were unyielding, their loyalty to you outweighing any fear they might have felt. Luffy’s voice cracked as he shouted, “You’re not taking her! She’s our sister, and we’re gonna protect her no matter what!” Sabo, still trying to be the reasonable one, added, “If you force her to leave, you’re making a mistake. She’s not dangerous—she’s kind!” Ace, of course, kept it blunt: “If you lay a finger on her, I’ll beat you into next week.”
Despite everything the boys had done to defend you, the guilt gnawed away at you like a parasite. The villagers’ words echoed in your mind, cruel and unrelenting: “You don’t belong here. You’re a danger to everyone around you.”
No matter how much Luffy’s loud assurances, Sabo’s calm reasoning, or Ace’s fierce protection tried to drown out those accusations, they clung to you like a curse. You believed it all, convinced that you were the problem. Worse, you feared that by staying, you’d drag the boys into even more trouble.
The thought of them getting hurt because of you—it was unbearable. You imagined Luffy throwing himself into yet another fight on your behalf, Sabo pleading with people who wouldn’t listen, and Ace taking on an entire mob with nothing but his fists and his righteous fury.
Late that night, when the forest was dark and the only sounds were the rustling leaves and distant chirps of crickets, you slipped away. The moonlight guided your trembling hands as you scribbled out a tear-soaked letter. You kept it short but heartfelt, explaining your reasons:
“I can’t stay. I’m too dangerous. I love you three so much, but I can’t keep putting you in harm’s way. I need to find somewhere I can belong, somewhere I won’t hurt anyone. Please don’t come looking for me. I’m so sorry. Please take care of each other.”
You folded the letter carefully, as though it were the last piece of you you could leave behind, and placed it where you knew they’d find it. Then, clutching your wand and what little you could carry, you walked into the shadows of the forest. With every step, your chest ached as if someone had taken your heart and squeezed it until it couldn’t bear the pain anymore.
Morning came, and chaos erupted the moment they realized you were gone. Luffy was the first to notice, and his reaction was classic Luffy—pure, unrestrained emotion.
He bolted out of the treehouse, running in frantic circles as he yelled your name at the top of his lungs. When his search turned up nothing, the tears started, big, fat droplets streaming down his face as he wailed, “SHE LEFT US! SHE LEFT ME!”
Sabo tried to be the calm one, but even he was visibly shaken, clutching your letter in his hands so tightly it crumpled. His voice cracked as he read your words aloud to Ace and Luffy, his composure slipping with every sentence. “She… she thinks she’s dangerous,” he muttered, his usually steady voice trembling. “She thinks she’s protecting us by leaving.” His hands balled into fists, and for the first time, you saw a flicker of anger behind his calm demeanor. “I should’ve seen this coming. I should’ve stopped her.”
Ace, on the other hand, was a storm brewing on the horizon. He stood there silently for a long moment after hearing your letter, his expression unreadable. Then, without warning, he grabbed a stick and smashed it against the nearest tree. “This is all their fault!” he snarled, referring to the villagers who had driven you to this point. His hands shook with barely-contained rage as he glared at the horizon, as if daring the universe to throw another obstacle in his way. “They did this. Not her. And now she’s gone because of them!”
But even in his anger, Ace’s determination shone through. He turned to Sabo and Luffy, his voice steady but fierce. “We’re going to find her. One day, no matter how far she goes, we’re bringing her back.”
“Yeah!” Luffy sobbed, his fists clenched tightly. “We’re not gonna let her go forever! She’s our sister!” His face was red and blotchy, tears still spilling as he stomped his foot for emphasis. “We’ll get her back, and then I’m gonna make her promise to stay forever!”
Sabo nodded, his usual composed demeanor replaced with quiet resolve. “She belongs with us. And we’ll make sure she knows that, no matter how long it takes.”
From that day forward, it became an unspoken vow between the three of them. They didn’t know when or how, but they would find you again. Ace reminded them of it constantly, his fiery determination keeping their spirits high. Luffy, as always, wore his heart on his sleeve, loudly declaring to anyone who would listen that he had a sister and he was going to find her someday. And Sabo, ever the planner, quietly began preparing, mapping out potential paths you might have taken and thinking of how they’d convince you to return.
You may have walked away that night thinking you were doing what was best for them, but little did you know, those three boys had made you a promise—a promise that no distance, no obstacle, and no force in the world could ever break.
After leaving your childhood behind, you wandered aimlessly through endless forests, dark swamps, and towering mountains, each step taking you farther from the trio who once made you feel like you mattered. Surviving alone as a child wasn’t just hard—it was soul-crushing.
Nights were the worst. The silence was so loud it drowned out your thoughts, leaving you alone with memories of Luffy’s laughter, Ace’s teasing smirk, and Sabo’s reassuring words. Those memories had once been a source of comfort, a little spark of warmth to get you through the cold. But as the years went on, they became a cruel reminder of what you lost.
At first, you clung to their love like a lifeline, hoping it could fill the hole in your heart. But reality was unforgiving. You met villagers who screamed at the sight of you, merchants who refused to sell you food, and travelers who spat cruel words at the mention of witches. No matter how small your magic or kind your intentions, people feared you. And fear always turned to hatred.
Slowly, their hatred began to drown out the lingering love you once felt from Sabo, Ace, and Luffy. Every cruel word, every stone thrown, chipped away at the sweet, optimistic child you had been. You started believing what the world seemed so desperate to prove: that you were unworthy of love, unworthy of kindness, and destined to walk alone.
Eventually, you gave up trying to prove yourself.
If the world wanted you to be a monster, then fine—you’d be a monster. You threw yourself into your magic, pushing its limits until it felt like the only thing that couldn’t hurt you. Spells that once brought you joy—like making flowers bloom or levitating tiny objects—were replaced with defensive barriers, fire conjurations, and illusions so terrifying they could make the bravest soul flee. You weren’t practicing to entertain anyone anymore. You were practicing to survive.
With every spell you perfected, a little more of your warmth faded away. By the time you reached adulthood, the hopeful dreams of your childhood had been buried beneath layers of bitterness and fear. Helping others was no longer your goal—protecting yourself was. If people feared you, at least they wouldn’t come close enough to hurt you.
Your appearance changed with your growing power and isolation. Gone were cheerful smiles of your youth. Instead, you donned long, flowing robes of dark green and black, their edges frayed from years of wandering. Your blind eye, once a source of insecurity, now became a symbol of your transformation. It faintly glowed when you used your magic, an eerie light that only added to your intimidating presence. Your gaze, once soft and full of curiosity, had hardened into something cold and unyielding.
Stories of the "wicked witch" began spreading like wildfire. They whispered of a woman who lived deep in the mountains, wielding magic so powerful it could summon storms or make crops wither. Some said you cursed anyone who dared enter your domain. Others claimed you were the reason children went missing or villages mysteriously disappeared. Of course, none of it was true—well, most of it wasn’t true. But you didn’t care to correct the rumors. If they kept people away, all the better.
You told yourself this isolation was for the best. The farther people stayed from you, the safer they’d be. And maybe you believed that, at least at first. But there were nights—rare, fleeting nights—when the old memories crept back in.
You’d find yourself staring at the stars, thinking of how Luffy used to point out constellations with his tiny, sticky hands. Or you’d hear the crackle of a fire and remember Ace’s mischievous grin as he dared you to roast marshmallows with magic. Or maybe you’d see your reflection in a still pond and hear Sabo’s gentle voice saying, “You’re not dangerous. You’re just you.”
Those memories hurt more than any stone or insult ever could. Because deep down, you knew the truth. You weren’t the monster the world painted you to be. But it was easier to live as the wicked witch than to let anyone close enough to hurt you again. So you embraced the role, burying your longing for love and acceptance beneath layers of bitterness and pride.
The years didn’t dim their determination. From the moment you vanished, Luffy, Sabo, and Ace vowed to find you, no matter how long it took. You were their sibling, the missing piece of their chaotic trio-turned-quartet, and the idea of leaving you out there alone—especially in a world that didn’t understand or accept you—was unthinkable.
Sure, life moved on, and they had their own battles to fight, but every step they took, every new place they explored, carried the same question: Could you be here?
When they finally found you, it wasn’t a tearful, joyous reunion like they had imagined countless times. No, the figure standing before them—dark robes, piercing gaze, blind eye faintly glowing in the dim light—was a far cry from the sweet, hopeful sibling they had grown up with. The “wicked witch” they had heard whispered about in fear and awe was unmistakably you, but the change was so drastic, it made their chests ache.
Naturally, Luffy was the first to act, because of course he was. Despite the eerie vibe you gave off, despite the cold, unreadable look in your eyes, he threw caution to the wind. “IT’S YOU!!!” he yelled, his voice ringing through the air like a cannon blast. Before you could even blink, he launched himself at you like a human missile, wrapping his arms tightly around your waist. His grin was as bright as ever, but it faltered when you didn’t react, your arms hanging limp at your sides.
“Get off me,” you said flatly, your voice sharp enough to cut through the moment.
Luffy blinked, his smile faltering. “Huh? But—it’s me! It’s Luffy! Remember?” His arms stayed locked around you, though, like if he let go, you might disappear again.
Sabo approached next, his heart twisting at the sight of you. He could tell from the way you stood, your guarded posture and the steely edge in your voice, that life had hardened you in ways he and the others couldn’t begin to imagine. Still, he wasn’t ready to give up. “It’s been a long time,” he said softly, his tone carefully measured. “We’ve been looking for you all these years. You’re—well, you’re different, but you’re still you, right? You’re still our little sibling.”
“No,” you snapped, your voice colder than the frost in the mountains you now called home. “Stop calling me that.”
That’s when Ace stepped forward, his jaw tight and his fists clenched at his sides. “Why?” he demanded, his voice filled with the frustration and heartbreak he had bottled up for years. “Why did you leave us? We know what the letter said, but that’s not good enough. I want to hear it from you. The real reason.”
Your gaze flickered to him, a flash of emotion—guilt, maybe, or regret—briefly breaking through your hardened exterior before you quickly masked it. “I left because I had to. Because people like me don’t get to have happy endings. I would’ve just dragged you down. Don’t you get it? You were better off without me.”
Luffy, of course, shook his head so furiously it was a wonder it didn’t fall off. “That’s not true! You’re wrong! We’re better with you! You’re our family, and family doesn’t leave family behind!”
“We’re not kids anymore,” you retorted, your voice laced with bitterness. “You can’t just fix everything with hugs and stubbornness, Luffy. I’m not the person you remember. I’ve accepted who I am—what I am. I don’t need your protection, and I definitely don’t need your pity.”
Sabo’s heart ached at your words, but he didn’t let it show. Instead, he stepped closer, his tone gentle but firm. “It’s not pity. It’s love. And it’s not something you can just turn off, no matter how much you try to push us away.”
Ace, his frustration reaching its peak, finally snapped. “You’re not fooling us. I don’t care how powerful or scary you think you’ve become—beneath all that, you’re still the same person who used to trip over her own feet trying to show off her magic. You’re still our sister, and we’re not leaving without you.”
His words struck a nerve, and for a split second, the mask you wore so carefully slipped. The memories they stirred—the laughter, the teasing, the warmth—hit you like a tidal wave. But you quickly pushed it all down, shoving the emotions back into the box you had sealed away years ago.
“You don’t understand,” you said, your voice quieter now but no less firm. “You can’t just barge in here and expect everything to go back to the way it was. I’ve changed. You should’ve let me go.”
Deep down, though, their presence stirred something in you—something you thought you had buried for good. For the first time in years, the icy walls you had built around yourself felt like they were beginning to crack. But you weren’t ready to let them in, not yet. So you turned away, your heart aching as you whispered, “Just go. Please.”
Luffy, of course, refused to let go of you, clinging to you like a stubborn child. Sabo’s eyes softened with understanding but also sadness, and Ace clenched his fists, his jaw tightening. It’s not that he’s upset with you, he’s more so upset with what the world has done to you to make you this cold. But they didn’t care how long it took. They weren’t going anywhere. They’d lost you once, and they weren’t about to let it happen again.
Luffy, as always, is the most relentless. No matter how many times you tell him to leave, no matter how coldly you speak or how fiercely you use your magic to push him away—he keeps coming back. Even if you send him flying through the air with a gust of wind or trap him in vines, he shows up minutes later, scratched and dirty but grinning as if nothing happened.
“I’m not leaving!” he shouts, planting his feet firmly on the ground. “You can throw me, trap me, or zap me—I don’t care! You’re my family, and I’m not losing you again!”
His determination is maddening, but it’s also heartbreakingly familiar. Deep down, it stirs something in you, a flicker of the bond you thought you’d severed long ago. But you shove the feeling aside, insisting that it’s better this way. Yet, Luffy’s persistence never wavers. He follows you everywhere like an overgrown puppy, his sheer presence a constant reminder of the love you’ve tried so hard to forget.
Sabo, ever the strategist, takes a different approach. He doesn’t push or demand; instead, he quietly works his way back into your life. He’s always nearby, watching, waiting, making sure you’re safe. He uses his calm demeanor and sharp intellect to subtly manipulate situations, ensuring you never feel completely alone.
“We don’t have to talk about the past,” he says one evening, his voice gentle as he sits near you by a crackling fire. “I just want to be here, that’s all. No expectations, no pressure.”
He gives you space when you need it, offering his presence as a steady anchor rather than a demand for reconciliation. Still, his unwavering kindness wears down your defenses bit by bit, even if you don’t want to admit it.
Ace is as fiery as ever, his protectiveness dialed up to an almost overwhelming level. Anyone who dares speak ill of you—whether they call you the “wicked witch” or something worse—immediately faces his wrath. He doesn’t hesitate to threaten them, his fists clenched and his fiery abilities ready to strike if needed.
“Say that again,” he growls at one unfortunate villager who muttered something under their breath. “I dare you.”
Around you, though, Ace’s fierce demeanor softens, though his protectiveness remains just as strong. He still instinctively positions himself on your blind side, just like he did when you were kids, standing in the perfect spot so he can “be your eye.” It’s a small, endearing gesture that tugs at your heart every time, no matter how much you try to ignore it.
“You don’t have to do that,” you murmur one day, your voice quieter than usual.
“Yes, I do,” Ace replies firmly, his expression softening as he looks at you. “I’ve always done it, and I’m not stopping now. I’m not letting you face anything alone—not ever again.”
No matter how much you try to push them away, they refuse to give up. Luffy’s relentless optimism, Sabo’s quiet persistence, and Ace’s fierce protectiveness create a barrier you can’t seem to break through. Slowly but surely, they chip away at the icy walls you’ve built around yourself, their love and determination refusing to fade.
The brothers' determination eventually cracks the ice around your heart, their love and loyalty proving stronger than the bitterness and pain you’ve clung to for so long. Slowly but surely, they remind you of the person you used to be—the kind-hearted, optimistic sibling who once dreamed of helping others. Though it’s not easy, you begin to let them back in, allowing yourself to feel the warmth of their bond again.
They don’t just offer you their love—they offer you protection, in every sense of the word. They stand beside you as you begin using your magic for good again, shielding you from the judgment of others and reassuring you that you’ll never have to face the cruelty of the world alone. Luffy’s boundless enthusiasm reignites your hope, Sabo’s steady support grounds you, and Ace’s fiery devotion reminds you that you’re worth fighting for.
“You don’t have to do it all yourself,” Sabo tells you one day, his voice steady but warm. “We’re here, and we always will be.”
“And if anyone has a problem with you,” Ace adds, cracking his knuckles, “they’re gonna have a problem with us first.”
“Yeah!” Luffy chimes in, throwing his arms around you with his usual exuberance. “You’re stuck with us now, and no one’s taking you away!”
Their protectiveness becomes almost comical at times, but you know it comes from a place of love. If anyone so much as looks at you the wrong way, they’re immediately on high alert.
Villagers whisper about how the “wicked witch” has terrifyingly powerful guardians now, and anyone foolish enough to test that quickly regrets it. One unfortunate soul who dared insult you was swiftly met with Ace’s fire, Luffy’s fists, and Sabo’s calculated fury. Let’s just say they didn’t make that mistake twice.
Honestly, everything is back to normal. Ace is back, Sabo is back, Luffy is back, and it feels like the old cheerful days. This time, however, there’s no leaving. No tearful goodbyes, no lonely nights wandering through forests, no self-loathing letters explaining why you had to go. They’ve made it clear: you’re staying, no matter what. Either you stay with them or they follow you around endlessly.
“We’re stronger now,” Ace says firmly, his voice filled with conviction. “And we’re never letting you go again.” Luffy nods enthusiastically, while Sabo places a reassuring hand on your shoulder. They don’t just say it—they prove it, every day, with their unwavering loyalty and love.
Though this means they likely don’t let you out of their sights for even a nanosecond, you feel like you’ve truly found your place again. The darkness of your past doesn’t disappear, but with your brothers by your side, it becomes easier to face.
