Sol sits in a dimly lit room, a blank canvas before him. In the corner of the room, several portraits of his beloved lean against the wall, but none of them feel right. The eyes in each one seem... empty. “This isn’t you,” Sol whispers, discarding yet another sheet. His fingers tremble slightly as he grabs a piece of charcoal and begins again.

He draws, again and again, but the more he works, the more the details start to feel... wrong. Sol stares at the portrait. The shadows beneath the eyes are too deep, the smile on the lips is warped, and the silhouettes in the background—they’re not supposed to be there.

Sol is certain. He didn’t draw them.

Sol paces frantically around his studio. He hurriedly moves the painting from the canvas to the corner, adding it to the pile of failed projects, and covers everything with a sheet. He’s happy you decided to visit, but he would’ve appreciated a little more time to prepare.

You flutter into his apartment like a butterfly. Sol drinks in your presence, your gestures, the expressions on your face. He hopes—desperately—that you’ve finally realized how much you need him, just as he needs you. But instead, you casually ask to borrow his study notes, oblivious to the crushing disappointment that sweeps through him. Sol can’t refuse you. He asks you to wait while he retrieves the notebooks.

As he steps away, you glance around his workshop-turned-living space. Your eyes are immediately drawn to the pile of covered canvases in the corner, but you decide against asking about them. Instead, your gaze shifts to the window, where something else catches your attention: a collection of more than ten portraits of yourself, lying on the windowsill.

You’re stunned by the sheer amount of time Sol must have spent on them. But the longer you look, the more unsettling details begin to emerge. Shadows that shouldn’t be there, distortions in your smile, and an uncanny intensity in the way your eyes are drawn.

When Sol returns with a stack of notebooks, he freezes, his expression shifting to fear as he notices the pages in your hands. He studies your face, trying to gauge your reaction, already calculating his next move.

“Is this… how you see me?” you ask, struggling to mask your unease.

A strange excitement flares in Sol’s eyes. “No… not yet. But I’m trying to capture you as you truly are.”

Sol begins to notice that each new portrait interacts with him in strange ways. If he stares at them for too long, the shadows on the drawings seem to shift. Sometimes, he swears he can hear you breathing through the canvas.

One night, he wakes abruptly with the unsettling sensation that someone is standing by his bed. For several minutes, he stares at your angelic face, only to watch it slowly twist into a grotesque grimace. You hate him. You despise him.

The nausea hits Sol like a wave. He stumbles out of bed, his breathing ragged, and for the first time in his life, he turns your portrait to face the wall.

Sol decides he needs the object of his obsession to complete the perfect portrait. He asks you to pose for him. You agree to be his model without much hesitation, and Sol is convinced this time he’ll succeed.

But every time he begins to paint, a strange feeling washes over him, as if he’s losing something vital. “This doesn’t look like you…” he mutters. “Why? You’re right here in front of me.”

You watch awkwardly as Sol grows increasingly tense and suggest taking a break. Frustrated beyond reason, he snaps. Tossing the canvas aside, he lashes out: “You’re hiding from me! Why can’t you just be real?”

Startled, you start gathering your things to leave. It’s only then that Sol realizes what he’s done. He stops you at the door, dropping to his knees. Tears streak his face as he begs for forgiveness, his trembling hands clutching at your clothes with a desperate grip. Sol has never been more broken, but you don’t listen.

You push him away and walk out.

Sol collapses to the floor, thinking to himself that he’s as good as dead.

Since that day, you haven’t answered his calls. He’s tried talking to you at college, but you keep avoiding him, always hiding behind Crowe.

Sol paces in circles around his apartment. He wants to tear his hair out. He wants to kill Crowe. He just wants… for you to love him. As much as he loves you.

He stops abruptly. The blank canvas catches his eye.

Sol decides to try painting you one more time. If you could see yourself through his eyes, you’d understand. You’d forgive him.

When Sol wakes up the next morning, his studio is empty. The only thing left is the perfect portrait.

His palm aches. He thinks he should clean the brushes to keep the paint (and blood) from ruining them. Finally, he understands what the previous portraits were missing.

He looks at the painting. Your image on the canvas seems alive. Happy. Only the eyes remain as dark and hollow as they were in the earlier sketches.

The silhouettes behind you move. They whisper to Sol. He listens to them.

He realizes there’s no point in chasing after you when his perfect version of you is already here. Right in front of him.

Now, at last, you can be together.

Headcanon that Leo really loved to give his family massages growing up. We know that he’s good at them from the episode “You Got Served” and we know he likes spas and relaxation and getting massages himself from when he tried to get these in “Bad Hair Day” and from when Donnie made a tennis ball massage machine in “Smart Lair.”

So I think it’d be cute to think that maybe one day Leo overheard Splinter complaining about a bad back and immediately Leo thinks back to a comic or movie or something he saw where a massage helped so he offers to give one and it actually ends up helping Splinter.

Then April swings by the Lair at a later time and mentions her back hurting because of her backpack from school and Leo’s all like “I gotcha!”

From there, he occasionally manages to convince Donnie to sit for one because Donnie’s shrimp posture does not help him any (Leo pokes fun at how sandpaper-y Donnie’s shell is despite knowing it’s always like that and Donnie smacks him for it.) Donnie usually prefers hand massages instead however as all his typing and inventing adds up over time, and shoulder massages too once he starts wearing his battle shells more. Leo also figures out how to give massages to Raph and Mikey’s shells as well, though it’s a struggle at first to not scratch his hands on Raph’s spikes.

I think since Leo has such bad luck with spas and the like, he tries giving himself massages (though it’s not as helpful.) Like, with how his abilities work his legs are probably always aching from his portal jumping and one foot landings, so maybe he branches past back massages out of a need to help his own aches too. (Though he really wants a shell massage himself, the same way he’d give them…the one time with Donnie’s tennis ball massage machine was but a short moment of what Leo’s been missing out on and what he’ll continue missing out on…)

I don’t know, I just think it’d be cute to think Leo could have honed his massaging skill this way in order to help out his family (and also partially because he wants a massage himself.)

Their dynamic is everything to me. They have such a complicated relationship and history. They've been enemies and friends and almost-brothers. The what-ifs and should-have-beens and might-haves linger in between them so heavily. The guilt and grief sticks to their relationship and might never go away. They keep hurting each other but they love each other so much and they want to keep trying, to understand each other

Because that's what love is!! Relationships aren't perfect but that doesn't matter! They keep trying and they WANT to keep trying! Jason sees Dick for who he is and still thinks he's the most amazing thing he's ever seen. Dick has seen Jason at his absolute worst and still wants him around. They've both wanted the other dead and they've fought and gotten each other bloody and they still come back and offer a hand up.

They SEE each other- and that's terrifying. And they love each other so so deeply. The commitment, the sense of duty and obligation, it's all there. They don't HAVE to keep caring or trying- but they do regardless and God isn't that what love is? Trying?

Just. God they're so devoted to each other even when they've been hurt, even when they don't quite know how to show it or get the other to understand. But they try.

idk but at some point in the past couple of years I started really thinking about the amount of very human work that still goes into everything we own even if it's factory made. like, someone at some point had the idea to add a foot pedal to trash cans. someone decided to add fun lights to electric water kettles so you can see the water boil. someone designed the sticker with the picture of a pizza that's on my oven door. someone took that picture of the pizza. Ssomeone (lots of people actually) designs basic ikea furniture. someone (also, again, lots of people actually) designs all those silly or boring or cliche postcards. (well, not all of them anymore because AI but up until recently every single postcard ever that you could buy was, technically, a small piece of art made by a human). and even after having these ideas, someone had to actually engineer the foot pedal and then someone had to find the material to make them and someone has to ship those materials to the factory, and someone had to figure out how to configurate the machines in the factory to make them, and the list goes on

every bit of soulless junk available has involved a whole bunch of people not only to design and make but then to pack and send and deliver and sell (not to mention marketing and package design and webshop/catalogue design and maintenance and warehouses etc etc etc)

(also btw, I know no one thinks about this but the machines in factories that mass produce your stuff? those machines are man made. a human designs those machines and then other humans put them together and then someone ships them and someone puts them together in a building built by people and THEN they can start mass producing and even then humans are often involved in a lot of the steps even if they're not directly making the product.)

idk it's just so easy to dismiss products as soulless useless junk or to just simply not think about the sheer amount of human ingenuinety and effort and work by so many people that goes into getting your silly little everyday use product to your house. it's really made me appreciate and respect all these things so much more to really think about all the people and the resources involved before it actually gets to me. things are so precious and these production systems are so complex and fragile and we don't treat most things with nearly as much reverence and respect as we should (myself included)

also once you start thinking of these things and think about the billions of products being made every day and the amount of resources they use it absolutely boggles your mind and suddenly the whole "earth overshoot day" thing makes SO much more sense

ive noticed 'i like your style' being used as a way of saying 'this looks nice' which IS LIKE TOTALLY FINE DONT GET ME WRONG but i find it fascinating that i get this compliment a lot when even the way i draw the same characters fluctuates wildly between art— i dont think i, specifically, really have A style, and i certainly don't aspire to have one?

i take it as a 'i like this art,' which it's definitely implying, but i kind of wonder where the terminology came from? is it something about how much art there is on the internet, that being distinctive is held as more important? and then somewhere along the line it just became synonymous with 'good'? am i reading it wrong and its more like a 'there are aspects of the way you draw certain things that i admire'? even if so, its interesting that people usually say 'i like your style' instead of 'i like this style', is it something about branding? no clue and honestly thats the fun part
