Okay. So cooking and feeding yourself and others just means alot to me (even tho i burn alot of stuff teehee) but i just read alot of different hc for these two and cooking and wanna do a poll cuz i got brain worm. Anyways my specific HC under the cut
Okay so i honestly think neither knew how to cook dureing the events of the first game. Phoenix, i think could cook a bit but it would be very bland cuz he doesn't know how spices work and i also think he burnt stuff alot. He didnt seem like he had the time to learn to cook between lawschool and wanting to save edgeworth. He's always been better at takeing care of others than takeing care of himself so i dont think he was a particularly good cook dureing the events of the first and especially second game. This bitch has never looked at a recipe.
Edgeworth on the other hand probably hasent ever needed to cook like ever. Gregory might have had miles help in the kitchen but after miles moved into the von karma household he never really used a kitchen outside of a kettle maybe. He doesn't know how ovens work. When in Europe after the first game is when he startss to learn some cooking. I think its part of his learning to care for himself. Treat yourself kindly and make yourself a nice meal is the idea. I think at first its disastrous. He may have had to put out some fires. I think he improves in cooking when he starts to improve himself, sort of like a reflection of his progress. By the time he returns in the secound game hes able to cook better than phoenix but only if following a recipe.
Phoenix doesnt see major improvement untill his disbarment. The first few years dont see much improvement but in tye last few years he spends time in europe with edgeworth and something they do together is cook. They choose a recipe and follow it, and phoenix starts useing those recipes when they return home.
By the time phoenix gets his badge back i think they are both pretty capable cooks and have a decent understanding of how to use spices and not set fires. I think in the end edgeworth is the better cook overall but phoenix isnt too far behind, he just has more kitchen accidents bit he also cooks more than edgeworth since he likes to feed people.
Anyways i have more thoughts bit o need to sleep and also i cant find the words cuz it makes me too happy

✨️Wholesome✨️ Halsin + Daughter Headcannons ❤️
Hello friends. On today's post we will go over some wholesome headcannons of how he would react to his daughter because boy have I had a shitty couple of days.
✨️This is a whole series of posts and the original + others can be found here ✨️
ALSO, her possible names: Armelle/Faeryl/Haelra/Khalees -> the poll is still on going, so click the link above if you would like to participate
Wholsome things:
So I know that as previously stated that she is techically an adult, but she is very young according to elves
I can't even begin to guess a correct age because I have no idea how old Halsin was when he was in the underdark
I guess her mentality would be that of a 17 - 20 year old human
Not quite a child, but definitely not really a real adult (same bro)
ANYWAYS: I want to say that she would be the apple of his eye
I think he's always wanted children but his priorities were always elsehere - being selfless and taking care of those in need. Him having a child would be sort of selfish as it would take his attention away from the refugees, responsibilities, etc.
So he could never willingly have children - so when he finds out he is happy that he found her
It doesn't take long for them to get close; she is starving for love and attention; and she is beyond happy that her father turned out to be the man in her cellar that would hold her and wittled her a little duck <3
He has little nicknames for her: "Little flower" "Little one" "Duckling"
It's adorable, because although Halsin is a large elf, his daughter turned out to be small and petite (Probably, due to her abuse, starvation, and malnutrion. )
If he ever had to describe her to a Tav or a companion: "Ah yes. My daughter. She is very kind and sweet but. . . don't cross her. She can be . . . ah how should I put this. . . an angry little one. Let's just say a young teifling boy seemed charmed by her and though she declined his advances, he continued to pursue her and well . . . he had to be treated and stitched for 37 coyote bites. He said she wouldn't let go. . . "
She has druidic powers - but while she is talented, she's unable to truly control them, since she has lived her life with no guidance.
She has a problem with "giving into the beast" and she will turn into a large cave bear (larger than Halsin) and just fucking RHINO SYNDROME EVERYTHING.
Halsin has to turn into a cave bear himself and pin her down to calm her down - he pretty much just sits on her
She normally passes out after this and Halsin just carries her to bed and tucks her in
Sometimes she has nightmares in the middle of the night and will just wake up screaming and crying. So what does Halsin do? He brings her warm milk and honey and sits with her until she feels safe again
He has made it his personal mission to help her become a better druid - her powers are honestly up to par with his, I mean again, it's his kid.
He likes to take her out in the wilds and teach her about the plants and berries + to learn how to meditate
I like to think that they find little creatures together and he teaches her how to handle and hold them
Her favorite thing to do with him is observe the behavior of animals - she has a small book where she sketches and writes notes
They watch and feed ducks together <3
She calls him "Papa" as in Papa Bear 🐻
Whenever he is giving her words of affirmation (when they first meet her confidence in herself isnt that great) he'll get down on one knee and put his hands on her shoulders.
He gives her plenty of bear hugs and forhead kisses
Again, he ADORES her.
He helps her put little braids in her hair
His companions like to point out that they naturally have the same habits, the way they sit, the way they walk, etc.
Overprotective Halsin:
His daughter is obviously going to be 1/2 drow. So she get's a lot of prejudice. Other druids would definitely talk shit about how she's a danger to the grove
He will walk over there and SET THEM STRAIGHT
If he knows that they're going to talk about her, he'll put a hand on her shoulder and walk her out of the area "Why don't you see what Thaniel is doing? I'm sure he could use a friend right now"
Then he'll walk back over there and chew them out
If they were ever in a fight with enemies- you better believe Halsin would run up as a bear and FUCK THEM UP if she were down
She's a pretty decent fighter, and he would rarely do this
In previous posts I put that he would be over protective of her if anyone were to get too flirtatious/show that they had ill intentions towards her (if you know what I mean) - i still stand by that - a death glare from this man is enough to get them thinking twice.
I think he would mainly do this because he knows that she's uncomfortable with being pressured into intimate acts - she was abused just like him.
Okay that's all the energy I have for tonight. The next one I will more than likely go into her Mom vs. Halsin. I would think she would want her back as she has plenty of use for her - especially now that she's got these powers. Uh well - over Halsin's dead body. This is probably the worst custody battle in the history of custody battles.

super long post sorry i just upped my dose of vyvanse so i have a lot to say. anyways one strange phenomenon i find on tumblr although it really shouldnt be surprising by now i suppose is the fact that people seem to believe that everything has an objective answer. and like yeah of course this is the Nuance is Dead website but its still strange to me like ive been making many polls recently on things im genuinely curious to see differing opinions on, because theyre on inherently divisive topics that i really dont believe there's any "right" answer to (the 'is it weird when gay people sexually fantasize about converting straight people' being the biggest one but also that one i just made abt adhd and autism), but the replies to a lot of those polls have people seeming to talk as if there are objective measurable ways to prove a 'right' and 'wrong' answer on topics that ultimately dont affect all that much. questions like that will always have different reactions from different people, even people who generally agree on most big topics, because everyones life experiences and individual opinions will give them different reactions and morals to minute topics like that and its not like you can make legislation or policy about something like that no matter how strongly people might feel in one direction or the other so it ultimately comes down to your own opinion/sense of morals and curating your own experiences.
but people seem to speak about everything as if its another "should you be conservative or not" where the "difference of opinion" is basically whether or not you can recognize easily proved facts or if just straight up do not want minorities to have rights. and the consequences of having the wrong opinion result in real and tangible actions with massive impact (legislation). i think people got so exhausted about people treating issues like that as if they're "ambiguous" when there's a really obvious answer for everyone that isnt a bigot that they started seeing every single issue as if there must be a "correct" answer as well, but the reality is that for the vast vast majority of things there isnt anywhere close to an objective answer, even within the popular leftist moral compass.
there is no "correct" answer to lgbt discourse. yes even that discourse that youre thinking of right now. there is no "correct" answer to the morality of liking some media, or having some sexual fantasy. like, when it comes to things that i and all of my friends feel very strongly about, like some of those fantasies or lgbt discourse, i can and will shame or judge or debate or distance myself from people who disagree with me, because i have every right to. recognizing that morality is subjective doesnt mean i can't care. it just doesnt mean i think im objectively "correct". im going off of my own sense of morality, yknow? which is fine! we don't really have any choice but to do that in order to make progress. but i still AM doing that and i can recognize that because i think its important to, and doesnt undermine my own morals.
so i suppose its just a bit strange to me when people act like theres objective answers on things like that when like, you can never objectively prove morality because it's inherently subjective. even the basic question of "do you want to help or harm other human beings" gets muddied, because for as much as it might seem evil (and i honestly think it's evil as well), someone can truly and earnestly define "morality" as a based on helping yourself first and alone with no regard to other humans. i think everyone has every right to not want to associate with people who have certain opinions/do certain things, or even to associate with people who associate with them. its extremely easy to curate who you associate with in this day and age. but its still extremely strange to me when people talk about morality as if it is objective. i understand why, i do, i'm not really criticizing anyone for it especially since this is all about how things are worded and you cant always be like 'but remember this is subjective!' in every argument so i get it. but i think if you're reading this and realizing that you haven't been thinking of morality as subjective, it might be time to start. not because i want to defend anyone, really, but because understanding and recognizing that morality is subjective is a prerequisite to being able to change other people's minds and move the world towards your own sense of morality

I don't wanna be that person but will your poll results be admissible in your school work, because you've told the people voting in advance what you're expecting to find? Just in terms of priming the audience, statistical / research method validity etc. I feel like a dick pointing it out but also don't want you to be relying on a thing and then find you can't use it.
Dont worry, the poll isnt going to be used in an actual, scientific paper! I'm currently enrolled in a journalism class with a focus on learning how to reach an audience with my field of work.
The article I'm writing isn't so much about the actual scientific content - My teacher knows nothing about archaeology and isn't judging it on a scientific merit - its a way for me to showcase my ability to write a compelling article with proper 'journalistic' language. Half of the assignment isn't even the article, but writing an evaluation on how I think i did writing the article, the choices i made, how my interviews went and how useful i think my sources were!
I just decided to do the poll because i thought it would be an extra little fun detail to add, since journalists often quote stuff from SoMe, especially when talking about current social issues!
In fact, I could totally add to the evaluation that the way I went about the poll wasn't the best choice because I used loaded language - and that wouldn't be an issue, but actually a strenght because I would showcase an ability to self-evaluate and show I've learned from the experience!

That Nato summit is also the one where he introduced Zelensky as Putin, right?
But cheek aside I agree with @triviallytrue and there is a mixing of concepts here. Biden's age was a problem in 2020! It totally was. People told you openly they would have preferred a younger candidate. Just not a huge problem, and not enough to shift the needle much - its a binary competition over a million topics after all.
People told you his age was a problem in 2023, during the non-primary. Like a *ton* of people said it, writers and even some dem operatives, and it was in all the polling. Voters cared more now. But it wasn't *enough* to shift the norms of the dem establishment against the power of incumbant tradition. After all, he wasn't looking *that* bad, and he was looking decent against Trump. If he beats Trump, he can die in office, its not that big a deal right?
Then the June Debate happened, and people told you his age was a problem. They told you it was *more* of a problem, now they weight it higher, above issues they would weight it below before. *And* he is losing, much more badly, to Trump now. He has been campaigning and running ads at 10 to 1 rates for months, and it isn't working, and a pretty good part of that story is that he is old and can't campaign well and since time is linear he isnt going to change. So the balance shifted, and suddenly he was officially Too Old.
That 100% is narrative formation - if the debate didnt happen, he doesn't stand down as a candidate. No one would have had the "organizational impetus" to oppose him even if his electoral odds are weak or whatever. A different narrative could form. But the age concerns were always there and always real - Biden does have no business being president at age 86, even if today he can still hack it. And his weakness as a candidate, independent of age, were equally real. The narrative was socially constructed but of real events.
I do think people overestimate exactly how much you can build something from nothing. For fringe kooks you totally can, but people are both dumb and smart at the same time. The above mentions "hordes of migrants" as such an example narrative froth, but under Biden migrants actually did massively spike! There was, very much, a border crisis. I find people saying that it doesnt matter, voters woll panic about brown people either way, but idk man, it is hispanics panicking about it and switching over to the Republicans, swing voters who voted Obama, etc. Maybe this issue is fully fake, it does happen, but normally truth plays a role. Twisted truth, oh sure, but there is something there at the base.
Biden really was too old, younger candidates will *do better than him* along that axis.
politics 101 post incoming but i think it's interesting how democracy is full of self-fulfilling prophecies - even if something isn't 'objectively' a problem for a candidate, if enough people believe it's a problem it becomes one
the example of this that drove me crazy was the concern about Bernie's electability in 2016 and 2020 - it's my belief (based on the head to head polls i saw) that Bernie would've been favored to win both elections as the democratic nominee, but many primary voters believed he would struggle, so this (imo imagined) issue of general election electability became a very real issue of primary electability and he lost both primaries (not solely for that reason, but i think it was a contributing factor both times)
all of which is to say that it might be true that Biden still thinks perfectly clearly most of the time, that his administration governs more effectively than most other presidential administrations, that he mixes up words frequently but it's not a sign of real cognitive decline, that his stutter makes him sound older than he actually is, that he'll be alive and still functional through 2029. i think it probably isn't, but it could be!
but it doesn't matter. at all. voter perception will doom him either way, and if you are someone making decisions about how to win the 2024 presidential election, you have to understand that

TerrorTale
Well, let me tell ya about my fellings before i start fangirling
HOW THE FUCK did I find this AU? No ideia lol.
This AU has literally started few days ago and just appeared on my reccomended.
So, should I be talking about it right now, since it's so new?
No
But I'm gonna do it anyway?
HELL YEAH (Let me have this one AAA)
Ok let's go!
****
For starters, i can't really give a sinopsis of what will happen cuz honestly I have no ideia lol.
But all we know is:
This world is not really the same as Undertale, and doesn't seem to be swayed by the positive traits of the fallen souls like the original was.
Instead, the fallen souls all represents depressing feelings. The trait of pacience got changed to anxiety, the trait of kindness got changed to disgust.
And the trait of determination? Hah... There's no more determination here, only fear.
...
Or maybe, I'm wrong?
Maybe, determination can be gained in some way .... :)
Also, another thing that I think is confirmed about this AU is the presence of Terror sans :D
And we got lot more info on him than I thought
He was created kinda to be a mix of Underlust with a bit of horrortale
Idk which implications this mix may bring, but it truly shows that the underground is more dangerous than ever :0
Tumblr media
Gaah i feel like I'm talking too much!
Just read the first page already!
This au is going to be interactive with polls and asks sooo have fun!
Cuz I'm also going to be on this journey >:D
A bit more info about the AU and Terror sans on @xspidergutsx account :)
Tumblr media
*fangirl for the art style real hard*
*don't know wtf is happening*
*eats a dorito*

omg @earlgreytea68 I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS abt a mod day sports night au!!!!!
- the sports night twitter feed is always a total mess bc dana switches who's posting on it and eventually gives up and cedes control of it to natalie. eventually both of them decide to get a social media manager after a couple of months. dan keeps trying to ask if he can post stuff — dana keeps reminding him he has his own twitter account
- one time casey did a live tweet thing for the superbowl — did not work at all. he can't do this anymore. someone (idk who?) also tried to do a twitch stream with a sports player or during a big sporting event. this was either extremely successful or unsuccessful
- casey is also stuck in the late 2000s and early 2010s in terms of any kind of media consumption which dan mercilessly makes fun of him for. charlie isnt old enough to really pick up on it, but when he is, he also makes fun of casey for it
- i think there would definitely be more coverage and storylines about the stances public atheletes take on things, especially social issues of relevance. also i think more serious storylines in the show, like what happened with dan, the marijuana thing, and the apology, natalie and christian patrick, and the aftermath of the riots at madison square garden would play out much much differently than it did back then since the landscape has changed so much from that point in time, or they'd be completely reworked
- everyone probably tries to start a podcast for sports night and it's a running joke because it keeps either a) not happening or b) some other stuff happens so it gets put on the backburner
- there IS a constant thing about who people find cooler/[insert superlative here]: dan or casey? casey employs jeremy to hack into this, probably. casey and dan make tweets and subtweets about it ALL THE TIME. jeremy has also done google analytics on these polls to see if there's a trend or something. isaac and dana keep track of them to see how to try them work them into ratings and stuff but also to laugh at
- the show def has an online cult following
- there is probably an snl skit about the sportscenter vs sports night thing idk who plays who and why it happens all i know is that it happens. it is a THING also no one likes fox
- look espn has snapchat shows. i'm not saying anything but this would be so funny for csc to talk about in the equivalent of the pilot when they're on the sports night staff's asses. not to mention try to DO somehow
- sports night probably does have a lot of competition from like online outlets/blogs and such — dana has a VENDETTA against them — think like FiveThirtyEight but sports i guess
- there is some kind of social media mishap. idk what it is — i just know it's absolutely hilarious but not catastrophic — like stupid in a ridiculous way
- i think the show and its staff could also probably be more diverse and socially inclusive, as well as more open minded? for example, i think dan would be more receptive to acknowledging he has issues with his mental health and getting help as it's more widely talked abt now but this could apply in a lot more contexts than just this (race, lgbtq+, toxic masculinity, etc)
this is just a stream of consciousness but yea, i think it could be a really interesting new lens to cast sports night in! and yea, tww would def be the same!
hI! I wanted to ask u abt sn bc u seem to rly love it! shipped takes place in the modern day (i think?) and it got me wondering to what a modern au/retelling/fic of sn could look like! do u have any ideas in terms of how the characters, relationships and storylines could be different from wat they were in the late 90s and early 2000s? i've read fics where people have done this to tww, so whats ur take on it! thank you! your fics are awesome!
I think there's probably a bunch of cringe in some of the storylines that would definitely be different today, and the fact that Dan's great big bad-boy thing is that he smokes weed seems so incredibly dated from the perspective of 2021. But for me the main reason I made "Shipped" a modern day AU was because I wanted to use the internet as it exists now, and I think that's probably what would be interesting about a modern version of West Wing, too.
It's clear that an enduring theme of my fic, for whatever reason, over the past few years, has been this relationship as seen and processed through social media and how the relationship and the social media can be this little feedback loop. Like, SO MUCH of NBT and Dream Bigger is about that, and now I sit in a bandom where Pete explicitly used the early days of social media to play with relationship perception, Idk, this is clearly something that keeps fascinating me. So the idea was irresistible to do it with Dan and Casey, like, the internet was so early that "Sports Night" could barely hint at it, but "Who's cooler, Dan or Casey?" is one of my favorite storylines on the entire show and I really wanted to imagine a world where the people on social media were just endlessly commenting on who's cooler, Dan or Casey, and how that would shift Dan and Casey and how it would affect them on-air and off-.
And The West Wing would be even more radically shifted by the social media world, like, the maneuvers of the staff to deal with Twitter would be so different, and imagine Bartlet making sure Zoey doesn't tweet out something she shouldn't, or imagine how the Zoey/Charlie relationship plays out with Twitter involved.
