like. it's just truly so funny to think about the domestic life of the new Galran imperial family. Emperor Shiron and his human husband, the black paladin of Voltron. Emperor Shiron's younger brother, the half-Galra druid Keith. Their mother, the Blade's second in command Krolia. The cosmic wolf that Keith found in the quantum abyss. That one Altean named Romelle who is always hanging around the palace for some reason.
(No one knows what her deal is. She's just always kind of around. Speculation about her relationship with Keith runs rampant.)
Talk of Shiron being formerly human is less common than it used to be. They just assume that Adam and Shiron fell in love on the battlefield. While they were still enemies. The Galra nod to themselves. This is common. Everyone knows that Vrig the Great's consort was his greatest enemy at first too. Adam at this point has given up on correcting them and Shiro thinks it's kind of funny actually.
By virtue of Shiro being the Emperor, Keith is technically a Prince now. But he doesn't seem all that interested in being a prince, much more content to help out the Blade of Marmora or just spend entire days engrossed in magical study. He often works in tandem with Queen Allura, trying to find ways to combine Altean alchemy and druid magic. Sometimes he just wanders off for days at a time and no one even knows where he is.
Shiro is a little worried, usually, but Keith always comes back. He's not used to being public figure. He needs his alone time- though sometimes his wanderings are more about trying to unlock the secrets of what druid magic was like before the war. Before it got corrupted by Haggar.
Sometimes, temporarily, Krolia takes over the Empire. This is usually because Adam and Keith are forcing Shiro to take a break. Imagine. You're at a beach on Earth. Then all of a sudden, the Galra Emperor, his brother, the black paladin, a random Altean, and a cosmic wolf all teleport next to you. They're in beach wear. They are here to chill. You cannot stop them.
commander and druid AU is great because no matter what time period you're at in the AU, there's juicy content for it.
Keith and Shiro becoming the druid Karrion and Commander Shiron? great. good food. excellent. Shiron and Karrion fighting against Adam and the paladins? *chef's kiss*. delicious. Keith and Shiron hitting that redemption arc and slowly learning to become the people they once were? incredible. a delicacy.
after the war, after Honerva, when the dust has settled and Shiro ends up becoming the goddamn Galra Emperor? that actually, I think. is the best part somehow.
#commander and druid au#if keith and kosmo sync up they can achieve an absurd teleportation range#that said. they cannot actually teleport all the way from daibazaal to earth in one shot#but only Adam. Shiro. Krolia and Romelle know this. Keith just lets everyone else think otherwise

okay so I know I said I’d have a post for Monday but stuff happened (nothing bad don’t worry) so this is late and also not what I had planned. but it’s something at least while I’m working on drawing and trying to actually finish a drawing for once in my life
anyways without further ado: more Voltron dragon prince AU shenanigans because that is still very much a thing that I want to do and am going to at least have some “official” art done for at some point in the year.
I only have an idea for Shiro’s design right now, but I have so much more to talk about in this post.
Shiro doesn’t really have a direct parallel to anyone in the dragon prince, but he’s still important (obviously) and he still goes missing. I can’t really say too much about him because of story and plot reasons but there is gonna be Cool Stuff happening. I decided to make him a moon shadow elf because it makes the most sense, and also I just thought he would look cool as one. He’s still engaged to Adam, and he still goes missing with Sam and Matt Holt.
That’s all I can say about Shiro for now, but I still have other characters to talk about.
Adam is going to be playing an active role in this because I want him to and also he won’t fucking die because I think he should live. As a treat.
In this AU, Adam is human. A huge part of his whole deal is that he will be looking for a Shiro and Keith alone because they’re the two most important people in his life and he wants to find them.
Also, Adam and Shiro’s relationship is secret, only Keith knows that they’re together and that’s a huge motivation as to why Adam goes searching for them alone since he’s kinda trapped since he can’t exactly go out and get help finding Shiro and Keith. Anyways, that’s enough about those two, let’s get on to everyone else I’m talking about today
I’m just going to make a quick bullet point list of characters I don’t have much to say on in this post but I still wanna say what their deal is in the AU:
Coran is going to be Opeli (the like, advisor in TDP). He’s the royal adviser, but he also helped raised Lance and Allura. I don’t really have much to say about him other than he will still very much be himself and I love him
Matt is a scholar or something of that type along with his father, and they meet Shiro while doing research and end up befriending him (thank you Aeon for this suggestion your brain is great)
Romelle is going to be the equivalent of Ellis (the kid with the wolf). Also trans Romelle because I am a trans Romelle truther
Veronica is going to be this AUs Amaya but not going to be exactly like her (also, please let me know if you guys think that I should make Veronica deaf like Amaya since I would like having a deaf character in this but idk if it should be her or another side character that would most likely be an OC)
Krolia is going to be missing/MIA
The BoM are going to be the moonshadow elf assassins, but without the whole knowledge or death deal since. I just don’t want them to have that and it’s my AU I get to do what I want
Honerva is dead lol
Zarkon will be Viren
Ezor, Zethrid, Narti and Axca are still Lotor’s Lesbians and I have Several Ideas for them
I still have a lot that I wanna do, like learn how to draw dragons because Whoops I made an AU that has dragons and a lot of them but I don’t know how to draw them, and I have a lot to talk about when it comes to certain decisions I made for this, like Zarkon and Honerva and some things I have in mind for them. This is probably going to be a project that will take a long time to even officially get started because I don’t know how to write but I so desperately want to tell the story I have in mind and have it be enjoyable.
I’ll make another post soon with more in-depth descriptions and ideas for Zarkon, along with something I like to call the “kill-die scale” and also some ideas I am still struggling with
Also as always, thank you to @deuxaeonn for the help, your brain is so good and ik this hasn’t been worked on for a while but still lmao
#Voltron dragon prince AU#sorry this took so long to actually do something else for I have gotten off track with things#voltron#voltron: legendary defender#the dragon prince#VLD TDP AU#AU#au in progress#takashi shirogane#adam vld#did you know that Adam doesn’t have a last name in the show it’s just W#at least I think#I am still doing art for the SK8/VLD AU but it is Taking A While since the brain chemicals are unbalanced#also please give me your thoughts on what I’ve proposed and anything you’d like to see

Blood Red Heat prt 40
For the last night planet side, the pack had piled into Green for a sleep over. Krolia, Allura, Romelle, and Coran, all invited, even if they didn’t feel what their pack felt. Sitting between Hunk’s legs, Hunk was helping Lance keep up with the weird card game he and Pidge had tried to invent that was somewhere between poker and uno. Coupled with Pidge, the three of them had crushed Keith and Shiro, who didn’t actually know the rules of the game. Keith’s alpha struggling seeing Lance seated between Hunk’s legs, but he’d managed to keep his temper with how happy Lance seemed to be. They’d all noticed it now, the pauses and the weakness. Coran had suggested a group walk out to where they’d found a wide piece of stream that was better for water collection that further down and closer to camp, Lance stubbornly tried to keep up the “relaxed pace” Coran had set, his hand on Kosmo for support . When Lance had stumbled, Hunk had thrown himself down dramatically with an exaggerated sigh and demanded a time out from training. Pidge caught on quick, their gremlin also asking for a break.
Upon seeing so much water, Lance had wanted to go swimming. Coran having to be the one to break it to him that swimming wasn’t advisable as they had to boil the water for drinking due to some potential parasite. Sitting on the bank of the stream, Lance had told him all about growing up surfing. Keith had never been surfing. Living in a land locked state would do that to you. Lance promised to teach him when they finally got back home, explaining how his next oldest brother was totally a grommet... whatever that was. Keith was simply happy to hear Lance talk so enthusiastically about something he clearly loved. It was then that Lance decided to also tell him about his older sister Veronica who worked at the Galaxy Garrison. Lance might love his siblings, yet the way he talked about Veronica, it was clear she was the one he was closest to out of the brood...
The alpha feeling semi-bad that he couldn’t recall Lance’s family from all their forced upon mind melding. He wished he could keep up with it all. Lance taking his silence the wrong way, apologising for “rubbing his family in his face”. Maybe he had, but Keith wanted to know. He wanted to make sure he didn’t make a fool of himself when he finally told Lance’s family that he had the honour of courting him.
Scrunching his face as up as he went cross eyed at his cards Lance was being cute again, Keith ducked his head to cover the slight blush setting in. Not missing anything, Shiro nudged him with his elbow, whispering in his ear
“Quick, Lance breathed, you better blush”
His brother could go jump
“Fuck off. Like you and Adam were any better”
“Hey, we raised a kid together, we were allowed to be gross. We needed each other with how often you got in trouble”
“It wasn’t always my fault, you know”
“I do. He seems happy”
Throwing a card down, Lance craned his neck to look back at Hunk who nodded supportively
“He is. He still has his moments, but the game really did knock out the hardest part of the apology”
“I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who apologised as much as him. Is there any way to get him to stop?”
Keith snorted, if Lance praised him any more, or apologised for something not his fault one more time, his brain might just short circuit
“Try dating him... You love to apologise for everything, don’t you, babe?”
Lance wasn’t listening until he heard “babe”, worry coming to his face as he tilted his head
“Hmm?”
“I said you love to apologise”
Lance seemed unsure, hesitantly nodding, but trusting Keith
“I’m not going to apologise for kicking your butt”
“You’re not going to show me any mercy, are you?”
“Nope... not even if you’re my alpha”
Shooting Lance finger guns, Keith grinned stupidly thinking himself smart
“That’s my omega”
Lance groaning as he blushed. Pidge and Hunk both shocked he’d ever shoot anyone finger guns
“Babe, nooooo”
“I think you mean, “Babe, yessss””
Pidge rolled her eyes at them, surprisingly she was still quiet quite with her teasing, sometimes it took her a moment or two to reword what she was going to say, this time she was straight to the point
“Let Lance keep his finger guns... It doesn’t look right when you do it”
Keith pouted, huffing
“There’s nothing wrong with my fingers”
Lance choked on thin air. Keith blushing hard as he tried to fix what he said
“I didn’t mean it like it! I mean they work and they do their job! Babe, help!”
Shiro patted him on the shoulder
“Keith, kiddo, brother of mine, please just stop”
“I’m... you guys suck”
Continuing their game a little longer, Lance dropped his cards as he rubbed at his head. Hunk casting a worried look to Keith, who placed his cards down and crawled over to his omega. Krolia and Coran both on edge in case there was something wrong. Allura and Romelle stopping their gossip session of how Altea of the old had been. Feeling Lance’s forehead, Hunk gave a small shake of his head, Lance not feverish
“Babe, you okay?”
“Red says it’s time I was asleep... I dun wanna sleep. I think I’m finally getting this”
“Wanna come give me a cuddle for bit then? Maybe you can teach me how to play?”
Lance reached for him, the pack adjusting around them so Lance could sit in his lap and still be included in what was happening. Thinking he was whispering, his boyfriend failed hard
“I don’t think Pidge and Hunk know how to play... I’m so confused”
Hunk and Pidge both groaned. Hunk, shaking his head
“Honestly I think I’ve had enough. Do you want to try fish instead? We all know Pidge cheats at poker”
“It’s not my fault I’m graceful and charming”
When no one immediately agreed, Pidge kicked Keith in the ankle, Shiro chuckling
“She is style. She is grace...”
Lance adding on, as if this “song” was a “well known thing”
“But mess with her and it’s a foot to the face, or her little gremlin fangs in your ankle”
Pidge smiled proudly at Lance, wiping a fake tear from her eye
“Awww, dude, that’s the nicest thing you’ve ever said”
“I do try to be nice”
Shiro reached over to ruffle Lance’s hair. This was what pack nights had been like before he’d left, only now he had Lance and it seemed a thousand times better for it
“We know, kiddo. You going to play, or do you want to watch?”
“I wanna watch... You guys should teach Coran”
Introducing Coran to “fish”, Coran started explaining the aquatic animals that’d called Altea home. He wasn’t sure why humans called it “fish”, and seemed to think they should all have tiny little rods for picking up the cards. Too preoccupied teaching Coran, Hunk, Pidge, and Shiro, failed to notice as Keith slowly drew out of playing to watch with Lance. Hands holding each other’s, as his omega started to doze off in his arms. The game would have continued if Lance hadn’t accidentally kicked his leg out, knocking the pile of cards over as he sighed in his sleep. Lance had always been a heavy sleeper, once he got to sleep, Keith content as a human pillow as Pidge collected up the cards. Shiro being the responsible “Space Dad”
“We really should call it a night”
Hunk smiled at his best friend, probably happy to be free from Coran’s story
“I’m pretty tired, I think Lance has the right idea”
Pidge nodded her agreement, ignoring Coran’s pouting at the game coming to an end
“Mhmm... I could sleep. It’s been ages since we did anything like this as a pack”
Between their night under the stars and the day spent triple checking everyone had everything and rations were fairly divided, Keith felt it too
“It’s nice. You guys got all your bedding?”
Pidge answered for all of them
“Yep. We made sure we had everything before we started playing cards. We even set you and Lance up with your own bed”
There was mischief in Pidge’s tone, Keith not surprised at all
“Thanks for that... but we’re probably going to crash right here. He’s already completely zonked out”
“Fiiiiine, put all our hard work to shame. I dibs sleeping closest to Lance”
Hunk immediately spluttered
“I’m his best friend”
“You got to cuddle him all night. We all need pack time, Hunk”
Hunk sighed
“Fine. Next time I’m sleeping next to him”
“We’ll see. Shiro, you good?”
“I’m going to use the bathroom before everyone else. Keith, you need a hand?”
“Nah. I’ve got him. I’ll save brushing my teeth for the morning”
Pidge wrinkled her nose up
“I swear I’ll shoot you if you come at me with your morning breath”
“I’ll save it just for you, Pidgeon”
Their bantering continued as everyone got ready around him and Lance. The floor of Green not the best bed, but he did have the best cuddle mate in the pack. For Romelle and Krolia this was new experience, Coran had taken to watching over the pack when they’d had their sleep overs, falling asleep upright on the castle sofa as the rest of them slept close. Now Coran was sleeping near Allura and Romelle, with Krolia the one choosing to take the position of silent guardian. His mother really didn’t get how pack dynamics worked, but she was prepared to accept that this was what they all needed right now. His mother so thoroughly his mother that as she watching, she was oiling her blade. As everyone settled in, Green’s lighting switched to emergency lighting, filling the space with a soft glow. Hunk mumbling
“Pidge, I need the light on”
“Don’t look at me, that was all Green. I think Green agrees with Red that it’s past our bed time”
Black nudged into Keith’s mind, his own lion also in agreement. It’d be hard having to pilot Black away from Lance, but Krolia, Romelle, Allura, and Coran all agreed they were happy to swap having shifts in Red so Lance and Kalternecker would never be left alone
“Yeah, Black’s telling me we should be sleeping. What about Blue and Yellow?”
Allura giggled happily
“Yes, I do believe our lions have all ganged up against us”
“Maybe there as anxious as we are to get back out there?”
A pillow flew over Keith’s head, hitting Shiro, as Pidge grumped
“Personally, I could sleep for a month and that still wouldn’t be enough”
Keith snorted. Pidge was forgetting the one thing that made her more excited than anything else
“Now, now Pidge. Your dad probably has all sorts of new tech waiting for you”
Pidge spluttered, still thinking of her witty reply as Lance snuggled closer to Keith, letting out a loud rumbling content purr that they all heard. Hunk asking
“Dude, was that Lance?”
“Yeah. He’s got a good purr on him”
“I’ve never heard him purr like that before”
Pidge’s pillow was lobbed back over his head, Keith assuming she’d caught it as she didn’t complain about being hit. Closing his eyes, Keith buried his face against Lance’s back. Lance liked being the big spoon, yet seeing he was sleeping, Keith got to be big spoon, which the alpha preferred seeing it didn’t end up with Lance having a face full of his hair
“That’s because he’s all snuggled up with Keith. Don’t you two do anything gross in Green or I’ll kick you both out”
“Shut up. We’re not that gross”
“I’m just saying, we’re already hunting for a sun and if I see something I don’t want to, I might just yeet myself into it”
As Keith mentally sighed, Coran seemed to think now was the time to join in
“Not in Green you won’t. She’s a fine lion who deserves more than that. I’m sorry, Pidge, but I must insist you not do this “yeeting” of which you speak”
Pidge huffed, though her scent showed no trace of actual annoyance
“Look, now you made Coran cranky”
Keith trying to sound as deadpan as possible
“Oh no. Whatever shall we do?”
“Kosmo will teleport me over at the first sign of a potential yeet. You kids need your sleep”
There was a choruses of “Yes, Mum”, Krolia probably hadn’t expected to suddenly be called “mum” by all of them. She didn’t have a smart reply to that. Still, it was nice. To have his whole pack there, and for them to accept his mother, and his mother to accept Lance... all of it so damn nice that he could cry... but he wouldn’t. He loved his pack, for all its weirdness. They really were, and would forever be, his family.
** Three Years Later**
Lance had stood by Keith’s side for all of it. From coming back to Earth, to kicking the Galra off their home planet, to showing up wearing what seemed to be a full set of saucepans because Coran had been talking to him about Altean courting customs, Keith helping his omega unpan himself as they’d watched the sunset sitting atop black. Things hadn’t been easy. Lance nearly dropping when his second heat had come, due to the trauma before his first heat.
When Altea and Diabazaal had come back into existence, and with Honerva and Sendak both finally as dead as they deserved, slowly their pack dynamic had changed as they all sought their own paths. For Lance and Keith it’d been time on Earth, helping Lance’s family reestablish their farm in Cuba. Keith really didn’t like the first time he’d been invited to dinner by Lance’s Mami Miriam. The woman quick to share so many embarrassing stories about his omega. Lance shaken, but bold enough to stand up for himself and ask her to stop. His boyfriend talking him out to see Plant City, as most of the refugee families had been there at the time. Their time on Earth feeling like one big arse term at the Garrison. Keith finding himself “the future” as Lance had called him. Being the first Human-Galra, and the Black Paladin of Voltron, Keith found himself thrust into the spotlight that he’d never wanted.
For a time Lance worked with the Blades to help rebuild Diabazaal, as well as working as Earth’s ambassador to Altea. Coran refused to have it any other way. Lance was there for all of them. When Shiro had learned about the loss of Adam, it was Lance who kidnapped the pair of them from the awkward wake held for all the heroes lost when the Galra attacked. They wound up on some shitty beach in the middle of nowhere, but somehow that was everything Shiro needed. It was also Lance who helped to encourage Shiro to find happiness with his new boyfriend Curtis. Slowly as things had settled, Lance picked up teaching on Altea. His omega such a natural with the children that “laughed at his funny ears”.
Getting a call out of the blue from Coran, Keith broke every rule regarding wormholing off of Diabazaal. The stupid Blades had needed him for some stupid stealth mission. Keith well and truly over pockets of resistance that kept popping up trying to bring back Zarkon’s legacy. As far as Keith knew, Lance was on Earth. One of the perks of Pidge working at the Galaxy Garrison was the new gun tech coming out of the place. Lance had only been joking about being her official tester, yet almost every time Pidge upgraded some kind of gun, Lance would be the first one she’d call to her lab, even when the damn thing didn’t work, and the facility went onto lockdown because they’d tripped the fire alarms... He was supposed to be on Earth, with Pidge, and Pidge’s somewhat scary mother Colleen, planting a new crop of something or other resistant... Honestly, he still didn’t get farming talk, but Lance was meant to be in Cuba and now he was on Altea on that wasn’t okay, especially not when Coran had told him to come straight to main medical centre.
Landing on Altea, Keith flicked off the engines of his pod, out the thing before it’d finished spooling down, still in his Blade stealth suit, or his “onesie of justice” as Lance called it, as he bolted for the medical centre. Alarmed Alteans had no clue what was going, Keith nearly smacked into the glass doors, narrowly barrelling through the with only catching his shoulder instead of taking out the door frame. Hitting the admin desk, the Altea behind gave a small squeak as she rolled back
“Where’s Coran?!”
Timidly the woman pointed him down the hall to the left, Keith taking off jogging. Instinctively he wanted to keep running, yet Lance would smack him for running in a hospital.
Finally finding Coran, the alpha grabbed Coran by the shoulders. He wanted to shake an explanation out of him, but first he had to catch his breath
“Keith, my boy!? What a pleasure to see you again...”
“Lance... where’s Lance...”
“Uh, yes! Now...”
“Coran, don’t tease him! Keith, I’m okay”
Coran was kind of shoved slightly backwards as Keith tore away from the Altean, darting into the room he’d been standing in front of. Sitting on the bed, his omega looked exhausted as Keith rushed over to him. Wrapping his arms around Lance, the alpha let out a shaky breath. Yeah. He’d gotten a bit better with his rashness and impulse control, but that always went out the window when it came to Lance. Scrambling to tear his mask off with one hand, he didn’t want to let his omega go
“Babe... thank fuck...”
Chuckling softly, Lance smiled at him as Keith forced himself back to see his omega’s face
“Are you okay? I thought you were in Cuba. Coran messaged me that you were here...”
“And you came running... Babe, I’m okay. Something Coran should have told you”
Scrunching his brow, Lance being “okay” only made him confused
“I... if you’re okay, what are you doing here?”
“I... uh, started feeling ill. So I came for a check up... and hold on, let me show you...”
Pouting at Lance letting him go, his omega fished something out his pocket, Keith had no idea what the hell it was... until he was passed it
“You might want to be careful, I pissed on it”
Pee... on a stick... oh... oh... OH! What... how...
“Babe...?”
Lance snorted, then kind of sobered. His omega had to be terrified. Even with all the tech they had, he’d still had so many issues with everything growing and settling. Lance’s chances of contraception raising, but severely damaged by his red heat
“Don’t worry, I have a stack of them at home... I wanted to get it confirmed. Coran wasn’t supposed to freak you out”
Stabbing Lance less than romantically in the eye as he took his omega’s face in his hands, Keith’s heart was racing
“And... are... you...?”
“Yeah. We haven’t done an ultrasound, but... blood test and a quick examination confirmed it. I put off coming when I first started feeling sick... but today I started throwing up and it... yeah. I must have brought every test in the shop... I know... we didn’t think and... I’m sorry...”
No fucking way was Lance apologising for this. This was best news he’d had since Shiro and Curtis got engaged. Kissing his omega happily, Lance relaxed into the kiss, stick still right up against his eye.
Behind Keith, there was the sound of a party popper, confetti falling over their heads. For a moment Keith panicked, Bob and his fucking game show haunted him for a long time, so, for an instant, he thought he was back there. Instead, as he whipped his head around around and moved to protect Lance, Coran was beaming at the pair of them. Incriminating party popper remains still in hand
“Oh, I’m so proud of you, my boys!”
Knowing the cause of his distress, Lance tugged on his arm until Keith turned back to him
“You know he’s been addicted to them since Shiro first told him how to use one. I’m okay, tired, kind of nauseous, but I’m okay. Are you?”
Relaxing under his omega’s calming scent, Keith was very very okay...ish. God. He was nervous more than anything... The way Lance stared at him... even after three years, his omega sent his heart all funny
“Yeah. Yeah, babe... a pup... we’re having a pup of our own”
“We are... I know I shouldn’t get my hopes up, but... fuck... I said I wouldn’t cry...”
“Sweetheart, I think I’m crying too...”
Yeah. No. He definitely was... This was actually happening... This was finally happening for them, not that they had been trying, but they hadn’t exactly not been either. Shiro knew all about from making the mistake of walking in on them after one particular tedious briefing. Shyly, his omega asked
“So... you’re... this is... okay?”
“Oh, I’m very okay”
“Good, because this baby and me, we’re both gonna need our big strong alpha”
Inside his alpha was screaming with pride. He was going to be a dad. Lance was going to be a dad. They were going to be dads...
“You and our pup... you’re going to be so loved you won’t know what to do”
Both of them were messes, the pregnancy stick finally dropped as they nuzzled into each other until it was impossible to tell who’s tears were who’s. Lance letting out a barked laugh at the state of them. They might have grown plenty, but no matter how many years had passed, you only had to put them together and they turned into emotional idiots
“Now, yes, well, Lance came for a scan today, perhaps you’d be so kind as to let me patient lay down?”
Giddy, Lance giggled. Both their scents were kind of making Keith giddy too
“Coran begged me to let him do the scan. I think our Space Uncle is excited for us. He probably now knows more about my condition than anyone...”
“If you trust him, you know I trust him...”
“I wouldn’t have come here if I didn’t. You’re the second to know... well, third. The man at the store probably suspected with all the tests I bought...”
“When do we tell the others?”
“When we know both me and this little one are going to be okay... which we won’t know until Coran does the scan”
“Oh, I guess I better let you lay down”
“Yep... you have no idea how much water I had to drink for this scan, you better not keep me waiting any longer”
That didn’t sound fun... Everything anything to do with birth, and male omega’s, came out of Lance’s various appointments and therapy sessions... however, he didn’t need a fancy education to know having to pee sucked
“I promise I’ll never keep you waiting again”
Humming sweetly, Lance would never not be the most amazing and sweetest omega he’d ever met. A pup with his big blue eyes... His heart was melting at the thought of them
“Mmm. I might just have to hold you to that, but first, let’s meet our baby...”
He was never going to tire of hearing that. Their baby. Theirs... made by them...
“Our baby...”
*
The novelty never had worn off, no matter how many times he told everyone and anyone repeatedly. No matter how many times Lance teased him about all their friends knowing. Keith was proud as quiznak right up to the birth, and prouder even still when he finally got to hold their first pup in his arms.

molten gold
(written for a zine application, but I decided I would post it here and on ao3. it’s short but i had fun with it :) happy holidays, enjoy!)
Pairing: Keith/Lance
Wordcount: 1852
Read on my AO3 here!
--------------
“God, I’m so boooored.” Lance’s aggravated face popped up on the Black Lion’s main cockpit window, casting a faint red glow over Keith’s dashboard. Keith couldn’t exactly blame him; this so-called “space road trip” to Earth was taking much longer than they’d hoped, and inhabitable planets where they could take pit stops were few and far between.
A yellow glow appeared soon thereafter. “It feels like we’ve been flying for quintants,” Hunk groaned in agreement, his body half-way sunken into his chair. “Have we been flying for quintants? I definitely think we have. I pee approximately every five vargas, and since we left Iyethos, I think I’ve peed like...” He lifted a hand and started counting on his fingers, then sprung up in his seat, eyes wide. “Ohh, my God, I’m measuring time in intervals of pee. My sanity has reached a critical low.”
“Good Groggery, do humans really urinate so frequently?” Blue light entered the mix as Coran’s excited face materialized far too close to the screen, his body gracelessly crammed into the space between the control panel and the chair. Allura was leaning as far away as she could, her expression torn between annoyance and exhaustion.
Keith heard footsteps behind him, and a moment later Shiro’s robotic hand settled on the chair’s backrest. “Well, it depends on the—”
“Alright, no, we’re not having this conversation,” Keith interrupted immediately, already feeling the first pricks of a headache. “I know we’re all bored out of our minds, but I’m not gonna sit through you guys having some kind of pseudo-scientific discussion about the human bladder.” He dragged a gloved hand down his face. “There has got to be something better for you guys to entertain yourselves with.”
Finally, a green-tinted video feed flickered to life on his screen. “Say no more,” Pidge declared, smirking and cockily kicking her legs up onto the dashboard, only to find that she was a bit too short to maintain the position comfortably. She struggled for a moment before admitting defeat and sitting upright again. “Guess who just finished installing the latest Monsters and Mana data into our Lions’ shared network? As well as…” She adjusted her glasses. “... a dice bot?”
Lance was the first to react. “For real?!” he exclaimed, perking up in a way that Keith, at this point, could admit to himself was cute. “I mean—if you guys wanna play it, you know, I’ll tag along I guess.” He schooled his expression back into one of neutrality, pretending to examine his fingernails before realizing that he was, in fact, wearing gloves.
Pidge raised an unimpressed eyebrow. “Oh, you mean you’ll lower yourself to play a nerd game with us humble nerds, huh?”
“I am feeling charitable today, Pidgey.”
Coran was leaping in too close to the screen again before anyone else could get a word out. “Well what are we waiting for? I’ve been wanting to try out my newest campaign for longer than a Yarupian Velrod’s first—”
“Hey, hang on, Coran.” Lance held his hands together in a T shape. “Keith doesn’t have a character yet.” He paused, then jolted in his seat a bit. “Or, uh, Krolia, or Romelle, or Shiro technically since, uh, you know, the last one wasn’t really his…” The faintest color started to rise to his cheeks, barely visible in the red glow of his lion’s cockpit.
Pretty, Keith’s mind informed him helpfully.
“... Anyway, plus they probably don’t even know how to play—”
“Of course I know how to play!” Romelle interjected, looking affronted as she squeezed past Coran and into the frame. “I used to play this all the time!”
“It is a highly popular Altean pastime,” Allura admitted. Only the top of her head was visible over her fellow Alteans. It seemed she had managed to squeeze far enough away in her seat to give their unpredictable limb movements a wide berth.
“And I do have my… ah… the clone’s memories,” Shiro added, his words coming out somewhat choppy and uncomfortable, “so… I know how it works. I think.”
“I will admit I am familiar with the game as well.” Keith nearly jumped out of his skin as his mother’s voice spoke over his shoulder. When did she get there? Wasn’t she sleeping? God, she was silent as the grave. “It is an excellent way during free time for Blade members to train their strategic skills and team working abilities through intricate problem-solving simulations.”
“... Yeah that sounds fun,” Lance commented in a flat tone, then waved emphatically at Keith. “Well still, Keith’s got no idea—”
Keith could hear the obnoxious grin on Shiro’s face as he inhaled. “Well, actually—”
“Shiro, no.”
“Keith’s not really as inexperienced as you might think—”
“Do not.”
“See, the thing about him and Matt and Adam is—”
Keith didn’t even allow himself a moment of pity over the slight hesitation in Shiro’s voice when mentioning Adam. He was too busy jumping up and clambering over his seat to tackle his adoptive brother. Try as he might, though, he wasn’t strong enough to get a hand over Shiro’s laughing mouth before—
“—they were total Dungeons and Dragons dorks.”
Keith let out a garbled noise, somewhere between a growl and a wail, and slumped back into his seat, letting his messy hair fall into his face. He could have sworn he heard a hum of amusement from Krolia’s direction.
He was allowed a moment of silent wallowing, and then:
“WHAT? Are you serious?!”
“Incredible! Why, Keith, if you were already fighting dragons at that age—”
“Shiro, my dude, I love and trust you, but you are definitely lying right now—”
“He’s not.”
All attention turned to Pidge, who was now fixing Keith with a knowing look that he did not like one bit.
“Pidge…” he grumbled in warning. She merely winked in his direction.
“It’s all true. Matt would come home and ramble about all the wacky quests he would send you guys on. He always took it easy on you, though, because you were a wittle baby,” she crooned, sticking out her lower lip. “Keith was like… thirteen, max, when they started. And he always played an edgy self-insert barbarian named—”
Keith’s irritation turned to absolute dread; a veritable wave of ice rushed down his spine. He didn’t even have time to protest.
“—Thunderstorm Darkness.”
You could hear a pin drop in the split second silence that followed.
“... No way,” Lance whispered, and like that, the dam broke.
Howling laughter from all around met Keith’s ears. He hunched down in his chair and shot both Pidge and Shiro absolute death glares as his teammates laughed so hard they cried. Shiro had the decency to look at least a little apologetic, but Pidge only fell into even louder hysterics.
“What?” Keith demanded hotly, his burning shame urging him to defend himself. Kosmo wandered over and began snuffling at Keith’s legs, as if sensing his distress. “I was a kid! And it’s not even that bad, you guys are overreacting—”
“THUNDERSTORM DARK—PFFFFTTT—” Lance’s laughing face was beautiful, even when he was laughing at Keith’s expense. Stupid beautiful Lance.
Keith couldn’t even find it in himself to stay mad when Lance’s bright laughter echoed around the cockpit. He was really starting to regret this whole “falling in love” thing. It definitely gave Lance way too much power over him.
Ah, did he say love? He meant crush. Stupid little crush. Keith was just very gay, and Lance was just very handsome. And nice. And smart. And funny. And heroic. And—
“Alright, everybody, that’s enough,” Shiro’s voice cut through his spiralling thoughts. “Why don’t we give everyone a minute to figure out their characters’ attributes and statistics? I’d like to make a new one too, personally.”
Everyone calmed down a bit after that; it was valid for Shiro to want to create a new character, after all. It was his own way of moving forward, in a sense. Starting fresh.
The team rambled about their past Monsters and Mana adventures while Keith, Shiro, Krolia, and Romelle listened quietly and designed their characters. Krolia’s choice of a basic fighter class was no surprise; neither was Romelle’s choice of druid, given her love of cute little animals.
When Shiro was finished, he cleared his throat and announced with great gusto:
“My character will be named Kiro. I want him to be a paladin.”
Hunk let out a defeated sigh, but everyone smartly kept their mouths shut.
Lance leaned forward then, his pretty blue eyes on full display. It took a moment for Keith to realize that his lips were moving too. Huh, that’s nice. Keith liked it when Lance’s lips moved. Oh, but they were frowning now. Wait, why were they frowning?
“Uh—what?” Keith stammered belatedly, willing his face to remain neutral. “I… zoned out.” He could feel his ears burning and quickly adjusted his hair to cover them.
Lance rolled his eyes and scoffed. “Dude, you were looking right at me while I was speaking to you, I don’t know how you managed to ‘zone out.’ Unless...” Something else must have occurred to him then, because his brows furrowed, and concern washed over his expression.
Oh no. No no no—
“Are you alright, man? You been getting enough sleep?” Lance’s gaze swept over Keith’s body, which nearly shivered under the attention. Keith thanked whatever deity out there that he still had some semblance of self control. “We don’t have to do this right now if you’re not up for it. You gotta take care of yourself, Keith,” he concluded, his tone far gentler than it had been just moments earlier.
Oh.
Something twisted in Keith’s chest at the way his name sounded coming from Lance’s lips, soft with worry. It churned and coiled around his sternum for a moment before melting into his very core, creating a hot gooey feeling that climbed to his shoulders and pooled in his stomach simultaneously. Lance may as well have poured molten gold into his veins, for all the warmth and all the worth with which it filled him.
“... I’m okay,” Keith managed eventually, dragging himself out of his reverie, only to find the rest of the team dead silent and watching him with amused expressions. “So. Um. What were we talking about?” He was so ready for this conversation to move on to safer territory.
Lance did not seem to catch Keith’s little moment of weakness, if his cheerful demeanor was any indication. “I was asking what your character is,” he clarified, leaning forward with another one of those devilish grins that drove Keith crazy in the best way. “Come on, mullet, lay it on us.”
That was enough to draw a hefty sigh from Keith, but he cleared his throat and answered anyway:
“He’s a barbarian, and his name is Thunderstorm Darkness.”
And, sure, Keith knew his teammates’ teasing would be endless. But it was a necessary sacrifice. One that paid off, he thought to himself, reveling in the fresh bout of laughter that shook Lance’s form, and the knowledge that he was responsible for it.

The End is The Beginning
This is part of my Voltron Season 7 & 8 re-write. If you are interested start HERE PREVIOUS
Here it is, the final story. Thank you to everyone who has read this. I truly hope that you enjoy this ending. I'm sorry it took so long to post. I meant to have this up earlier, but then the Holidays got in the way. It all works out though, as I started writing this last January.
Without further ado~
_______________________________________________
The End is The Beginning
In a vast, white, void each of the Paladins slowly opens their eyes and look around. Standing side by side, there is nothing to be seen but an endless plane.
Pidge questions where they are, and a bitter voice from behind says they are at the end of all existence.
The Paladins all turn to find Honerva sitting in the distance, cradling Lotor's dying body in her arms. They slowly approach her and Allura asks her why she did what she did, why did she destroy everything.
Honerva ignores the question, focusing on Lotor's battered face. She gently says that all she ever wanted was to have her family living peacefully, allowed all the joys and love that life offers. Her voice turning bitter she says that wasn't to be as over and over others robbed them of every chance of happiness they could have.
Allura quickly cuts though her tirade and says that what she says is not true, Honerva was offered all that and more, but rather than accepting that sometimes life comes with hardship and disappointment. She and Zarkon meddled with powers and abilities that were unnatural and corruptive. They chose to force their will upon the universe, no matter the cost; unfortunately that cost turned out to be theirs and their son's lives. No one robbed them; they made the choices and willfully squandered what they had.
As she speaks, more people start appearing in the void behind the Paladins; Shiro, Krolia, Kolivan, Matt and his parents, Axca, Ezor, Zethrid, Romelle and Sven, the MFE's, and the rest of the Voltron Coalition.
Honerva sees them appear, and knowing them to be the Paladin's loved ones she rages once more. She spits that they couldn't possibly understand, they are all allowed happiness. They get to stand there with all who they love, strong and healthy, while her son, who was never even given a chance at a life free from darkness, is dying broken and abused in her arms. She finally answers Allura's question saying that if she and her son weren't allowed to be happy, she ensured no one was.
Lance speaks up and gently says she's wrong, they do understand. Hunk says they have faced sorrows in their life, and Pidge says that they've been through hardships, Shiro says they've suffered through trauma and terror, Keith says that they have lost loved ones, and Allura says that they have all faced trials and pain that seemed insurmountable, but still, they faced and overcame it without taking it out on others.
Allura watches Honerva, who sneers dismissively, unmoved by their words, and sees that the woman can't comprehend anyone else having pain. She says that Honerva's heart is so rotted, that all she sees is her own suffering. It's then that Allura comes to a realization; she closes her eyes reaches out with her senses and feels the last traces of the corrupted Guardian still festering inside both Honerva and Lotor.
Opening her eyes, Allura steps towards them. The Paladins become alarmed, but Allura turns and gives them a comforting smile, motioning them to stay; she knows what she's doing.
Approaching Honerva, the woman warns the Princess not to come near her or her son, but Allura gently says she is not going to harm them; she's going to free them. She slowly bends down in front of them and lays a hand on each of their heads. Glowing, her Alchemy flows through her and into them.
Gently and painlessly, she removes and purifies the last bit of the White Lion that had corrupted mother and son so many years ago.
Honerva, free of its poison for the first time in over 10,000 years, slowly opens her eyes and clearly sees all those who are standing before her. For the first time in those thousands of years she is whole.
Then, realization sets in as she is bombarded with the knowledge of all the evil she and her family committed. Finally able to know and understand her vile actions and crimes, she lets out a mournful scream of terror and anguish that strikes all those there to their cores.
Weeping bitterly, Honerva realizes that she was wrong; she says she does deserve this, that everything that has brought her to this moment was her own doing. She lets out another cry, unable to do anything else.
It's then that a hand touches her cheek, gently brushing away her tears. She opens her eyes to find Lotor looking up at her, for the first time in their lives, his gaze is filled with love for her. Honerva gasps as he calls her 'mother' and slowly sits up from her arms.
In shock, Honerva can't believe what she's seeing. Lotor gently embraces her, saying he's free of the entity and like her he can see everything so clearly now.
A new voice says they all do.
Everyone looks up and is stunned to find Zarkon appearing behind his wife and son, but this isn't the Zarkon that ruled as a Tyrant for 10,000 years. This is Zarkon, the Paladin of the Black Lion, whole and free of the corruption of the Guardian.
He bends down to be on level with his wife and son, and Honerva asks how he can be here. He explains that when Lotor ended his body, his soul was finally freed from the corrupted White Lion; his restored soul was able to come here to join with all those who had passed. As he speaks Alfor, Trigel, Gyrgan, and Blaytz appear behind him.
The Paladins and the Voltron coalition stand in disbelief. Keith asks how this is possible, and a new voice with a familiar twang responds that just like how their mortal bodies are made out of the same cosmic dust, their souls are made of the same Quintessence. Here, within the Connected Consciousness of all Existence, they live. With that, Keith's father appears, smiling to his stunned son and wife.
After that, others begin appearing as well; Melenor, Adam, Bandor and his parents, Marco and his father, Hunk's Aunt and Uncle, Rhyner and the Olkari, Antok, Regris, Thace, Ulaz, Rolo, Admiral Sanda, Te-osh, Ozar, Ven'tar, Narti, and countless others. All have smiles and joyous tears, being reunited with their loved ones.
After the shock wears off, Honerva turns to her husband and says that it's too late, there is nothing they can do now that she destroyed everything, but he says that's not true. Now that she is no longer corrupted, she can power the Sincline with true Alchemy, a life-giving force, and restore everything back to what it was.
Allura hears this and realizes Honerva does not have the power to do that alone. Solemnly she steps forward and says that if she helped, they could do it together.
The Paladins are shocked to hear her say this, and tell her that she can't; but Allura says it is the only way and she knows that they would all do the same thing in her place. Honerva doesn't have the power to do it alone, and this is the only way to restore everything.
The Paladins know her words are true, they all would offer to this if they were in her place. Still, they won't let her go this alone, each steps up and says that they will go with her then.
Allura argues that they can't, they are still needed, Voltron is needed. They ask her what good Voltron is if it's missing its heart? They know there are others that can take up the mantle of Paladin; they will not leave Allura to this fate alone.
Quietly watching this, Lotor says that they are all correct; Honerva doesn't have the power to do this alone, but Allura is still needed in the universe. That is why he will assist his mother with restoring the Universe.
He looks at Romelle and the other Alteans, then Axca, Ezor, Zethrid, and Narti and says that he can never right all his wrongs he's committed, he then looks to Allura and says that at least he can do is ensure that the universe still has her as a guiding light. He owes it not only to both of his people -Alteans and Galra- but to the universe as a whole. He asks Allura to allow him to do this for her, and everyone else he has wronged.
Allura and Lotor look at each other and there is an understanding between them. She agrees and steps back towards the Paladins.
Lotor smiles and thanks her, then turns and takes his mother's hand; they turn and walk together towards a light as Zarkon smiles on.
Those still living, and those who have passed share one more moment together, all at peace knowing one day they will all be reunited once and forever more in the Connected Consciousness of all Existence.

A light bursts forth and with it, all of reality comes back into being. The Coalition ships and Voltron drift silently above Oriande. All traces of the Rift, Sincline, and Komar Mechs are gone.
The Paladins slowly open their eyes and look around. Keith asks if everyone is alright and they call back that they are. Lance asks if they think everything is back to normal. Pidge starts scanning the system and says she can't find anything out of place. Allura closes her eyes and reaches out with her senses. She gently smiles and says everything is as it should be.
The Paladins look at the spot where the Rift had been with mixed emotions.
They are then hailed by The Atlas, and Shiro's voice comes through, asking them if they are alright. Keith confirms that they are, and asks him the same. Shiro says everyone has reported in and that all is well.
Allura suddenly speaks up in awed disbelief, saying that it's over, it's really over. The Paladins listen to her as she continues to repeat that it's over, the war is over, and they won. Each time she says it, it settles in more and more. Realization sinks in and the Paladins break out into tears and cheers as voices across the Coalition join them in a chorus of victorious cries.
Shiro smiles tearfully and tells the Paladins to come home.
_______________________________________________
Following this, we see a montage as the Universe regains its balance now that it's completely freed.
_______________________________________________
The Paladins arrive back in The Atlas' hanger where everyone is there to greet them, including Romelle and Sven. Overwhelmed at seeing them alive, the Paladins rush and embrace them.
Reunions happen all around as Keith shares hugs with his mother and Shiro as Kolivan stands by smiling with Axca, Ezor, and Zethrid.
Pidge, Matt, and their parents embrace as a family never to be torn apart again, and Veronica hugs both Lance and Hunk.
the MFE's and the Paladins all shake each other's hands and gives hugs, and Pidge reunites with the freed Olkari.
Tavo and Luca introduce the rescued Alteans to Allura, their Princess. The Alteans embrace her as their own, bowing down to her in respect for all she's done.
.
From there the Voltron Coalition returns to Earth, The Atlas leading the way.
On earth, Hunk, Lance, and Veronica are reunited with their families as the world celebrates the return of the Defenders of the Universe.
.
Over time Voltron, BOM, and Rebels work to take down the remaining warlords –most of which surrender without a fight thanks to former Warlords like Lahn aiding the Coalition, and Keith being there as the Black Paladin helps to bridge their trust, the Black Lion once more being a symbol of hope for the Galra.
.
The remaining Warlords and Altean Acolytes, as well as the surviving Alteans from the alternate universe are judged for their crimes; with Allura and Keith helping to see that they are justly dealt with.
.
Voltron takes time to revisit old worlds, from Arus, Puig, and Reiphod, to the Frozen Planet of the Mer, and everyone in between. Reconnecting with all their old friends and ensuring all planets and people have a voice in the new, freed universe.
.
During this time, Matt and the Rebels help to move Galra off the formerly occupied planets while Keith, Kolivan, and Krolia guide them to a new life.
.
Allura and the Alteans, along with Keith and the Galra, and the Olkari all work with the Coalition to find new home worlds for their people.
.
The Olkari are the first to settle peacefully on a world brimming with beautiful forests. The now Hoktrill-free Moxilous joins them, happily living a new life with the Olkari.
.
Sven joins the garrison, and works alongside Shiro, Veronica, and Slav, fitting into The Atlas crew perfectly.
.
Hunk and Pidge are approached by Shiro and the Garrison. Hunk is asked to become an Ambassador and voice for Earth. And Pidge is approached with the idea of creating a new defense program for Earth: Vehicle Voltron. Both eagerly accept.
.
As Keith and Allura's focus turns more to their people, and Pidge and Hunk's focus becomes that of working with the Garrison in different ways, Lance happily continues to work with the MFE's, taking command in the Red Lion and going on missions with them, helping the Rebels, and aiding anyone in need.
.
Allura and Keith finally find home worlds for their people, two uninhabited planets that circle the same sun and rely on one another. Believing the planets to be perfect, as they rely on each other to keep balance in the system, they feel that's how the Alteans and Galra must learn to see the Universe; all are needed in the balance of life.
.
With this their new home found, the Alteans approach Allura with a gift: a new crown. They bow and offer the crown to Allura, asking her to officially lead them. Honored by their request, Allura accepts this duty.
.
The montage ends with a ceremony attended by species from all over the universe, Allura is crowned Queen of the Alteans.
All the races cry out in joy for the Queen who helped save their universe.
_______________________________________________
In the engine room onboard the Atlas; Sam and Matt are looking over the systems while Shiro assists them. The father and son finish their final check up, and Shiro puts one of the panels back into place. Sam says that everything looks to be in perfect condition and ready for the upcoming launch.
Matt playfully teases his father about how he's being overprotective of the ship, and that he's got to let his baby fly on its own now. Sam grumbles while Shiro chuckles.
Shiro says that they are going to really miss having Sam with them, and says that if he and Colleen ever want to come back, there will always be a place for them. Sam thanks him and says that even though they loved being a part of The Atlas, they both agreed that it's time for them to settle back down on Earth and reclaim the life they lost. They are both looking forward to going back to teaching, especially now that they have students from all over the universe coming to Earth to learn. He then playfully points to his son and adds that the universe has enough on its plate dealing with one Holt in space now that he's living with the former Rebels as they continue to keep peace.
It's Matt's turn to grumble as Sam and Shiro laugh at his expense. Shiro says he's sure when Pidge eventually heads back out to space she'll be able to clean up any mess that Matt makes. Matt raises his hands in surrender and says they can lay off now, and the three men share a laugh.
The playful jibes over, Matt asks Shiro if he's totally ready to leave Earth. Shiro says he is, and though living on New Altea will take some getting used to, he'll have friends and family with him there. Besides, with Altean tech everyone is just a wormhole away.
He says that being out in space, learning about the universe, and everything that's out there has always been his dream. Now he'll be able to learn more than he ever thought possible without the worry of any illness to hold him back, or a universal war to wear him down. Matt smiles and says he understands exactly what he means.
Sam places a hand on both of the young men's shoulders and says that he's proud and excited for them both, but they both better make it back for Holidays, or else Colleen will personally hunt them down and drag them back to Earth.
The two men laugh and say they will.
_______________________________________________
Inside the Garrison's kitchen, Hunk and Shay hand Romelle a small box. Hunk says it's a going away present for her, all of his mother's recipes. Pidge helped him translate them into Altean so she can practice her cooking. Shay adds that her grandmother's soup recipe is also in there, since she liked it so much.
Romelle is touched by the presents and asks them to visit often. Hunk says his and Shay's training to become Ambassadors for their peoples will keep them tied up for a while, but as soon as they become fully fledged diplomats, they will all be able to see each other more often. Romelle says that if they need any off planet training, they are more than welcomed to come to New Altea. Hunk and Shay agree and thank her.
Lance and Pidge appear in the kitchen and greet the two ladies as they approach Hunk. Lance complements Romelle's crown; officially adopted into Allura's family, she is now the crowned princess to the Altean people.
Romelle readjusts the crown -Allura's old tiara, now bearing a new stone- and says it's still taking some getting used to. Lance and Pidge say that it suits her. She warmly thanks them, saying that their support gives her courage.
_______________________________________________
Later, Hunk, Pidge, and Lance walk down the Garrison halls, catching up with each other as they have all been so busy with their work. Pidge talks about how the creation of Vehicle Voltron is going well, and the wonderful multi-planetary team they have assembled to work on it.
Lance shares all the work he and the MFE's have been doing together, and how even though it's been hard work, it's been so good to see worlds and races really recover from the war. The two are happy for him, and he points out that it's not the same though. He misses flying with Hunk and Pidge and says if they want to come back to Voltron he's sure they could; the Lions still haven't found replacements for them yet.
The former Yellow and Green Paladins thank him, but say that it's just as the Lions once said, their time as Paladins came to an end. They, like Shiro felt they had other things that they needed to do, and Yellow and Green encouraged them to move on.
Lance sighs wistfully, but says he understands, he just misses Hunk, Pidge, and Allura on the team. Hunk and Pidge encourage him, saying that they are certain that the lions will find new Paladins soon.
Lance grumbles that it will only happen if Keith settles down for one moment so they can actually focus on it; he's been so busy helping the Galra that he's hardly around to do anything Voltron related.
It's then that they see Keith coming out of a meeting with the Blade and a number of other Galra diplomats.
Lance says speak of the Mullet, and the three approach him. They see a solemn look on his face and greet him, asking what's wrong. Keith, deep in thought says that he was asked to be one of the leaders of New Daibazaal's government.
The Garrison trio are surprised to hear this, and Lance guesses that he turned the offer down, but Keith reveals he actually said yes. He's not sure how long he will hold the position, but he's accepted the role for now. The others are shocked at first, but quickly congratulate him, pulling him into a group hug. All three know he'll do great as one of the leaders of his people.
They then realize what this means, Keith is leaving Earth.
Hunk cries that everyone is leaving and Lance and Pidge agree, saying that it's not fair. Keith smiles at them, warmed that they will miss him. He says that at one point in his youth, he had nothing on this planet that would have kept him here, he would have left without a second thought; but now he has so many friends and loved ones that he had to stop and think hard about this choice.
However, he never felt that Earth was where he belonged, he feels called to the stars and even if New Daibazaal isn't where he permanently settles, he knows he needs to be with his mother and their people right now.
He looks to the three of them and says that they have helped change his life for the better and that he will miss them so much. The three get teary-eyed and hug him once more, telling him that their doors will always be open to him.
Once they break out of the hug, Keith asks Lance if they can talk privately for a minute, and they break off from the other two.
_______________________________________________
Keith and Lance walk for a bit and Keith explains that with him leaving Earth, he's stepping down from being the Black Paladin. Lance is shocked and deeply upset, first Allura stepped down to rule as Queen, then Hunk and Pidge due to their duties at the Garrison, and now Keith? He says the original Paladins were able to fulfill their roles despite being on different planets, why can't they?
Keith acknowledges that, but says times were different back then. The universe is still very unstable at the moment, and planets can't afford to have leaders and vital people constantly run off to fight elsewhere. Besides, he says he's now come to the same realization that Shiro, Allura, Hunk, and Pidge had before him; there's a new purpose out there for him.
The two walk into the Lion's hanger where they look up to Black. Lance wonders who will lead Voltron now, and Keith says Black has already chosen its next Paladin. Lance asks who, and Keith looks at him and says "you". Lance looks from Keith to the Black Lion in disbelief.
Lance is stunned into silence, when he finds his words he says he is honored, but he's not sure if he's ready for that. Keith smiles and says that he knows Lance is. He's seen how Lance has grown from a playful showman, to a focused leader. He says he believes in Lance's ability and knows that he will make a great Black Paladin. Lance says that means the world to him, coming from a leader he truly respects.
Lance looks up to the Black Lion and asks it if it's ready for this new partnership. The Black Lion's eyes flash and it stands and roars in answer.
The two look up to the Lion, with humbled pride. Lance says it will be difficult finding and learning to work with a new team. Keith smiles knowingly just as the hangar doors open and says he doubts that. Lance turns to see the MFE Pilots walk in, not noticing the two Paladins.
Lance looks from Keith to the MFE Pilots and back and asks if he really thinks they could be the new Paladins. Keith asks him what he and Black feel.
Lance closes his eyes, testing the new bond he has with the Black Lion, and realizes it's true, the other Lions have already chosen the MFE Pilots as their Paladins.
He opens his eyes and looks to Keith with a smile. Keith pats him on the shoulder and tells him to go talk to his new team. Lance laughs and runs over to the group.
_______________________________________________
Night before the Atlas is prepared to launch the five former Paladins, Lance, and Coran sit and have a private dinner together on the roof of the Garrison. They talk and laugh, reminiscing over their adventures while sharing their plans and hopes for the future, just enjoying each other's company.
As the sun starts to go down, they realize how late it's gotten. Lance calls for one final photo, and everyone gathers together and takes the picture. They look the photo over and all approve of it. They sit there, knowing they should head off to get some sleep before the launch, but none want to leave yet.
Coran sees this and smiles. He coughs to get their attention and points out that they never finished their last Monsters and Mana campaign. Allura says that it will be a little while before they see each other again; they may forget the nuances of the story if they don't finish.
The others smile, and agree that that has to be finished. Coran pulls out the game and they play together under the stars.

The next day people from all over the place come to the Garrison to witness The Atlas' launch.
Pidge, her family, Hunk and his family, along with many of the other Coalition members and former-rebels watch and wave from the ground as the mighty ship begins to take off.
A loud roar is heard and Pidge and Hunk cheer as the Lions of Voltron fly overhead. The Lions move to follow behind The Atlas, escorting it to its new home.
Lance, flying the Black Lion, now wearing new Black Paladin armor asks if the others are alright. Griffin in Red, Rizavi in Blue, Leasdottir in Green, and Kincade in Yellow all call in positives.
Lance smiles and makes a call to form Voltron.

In the Atlas, Shiro and Sven arrive on the bridge where some of the new Galra leadership, including Krolia and Kolivan, as well as Queen Allura's Altean council of Coran, Romelle, Luca, and Tavo stand.
Shiro sees Keith in his new Galran armor is standing with Allura near the view screen. He approaches and tells them they will be arriving to New Diabazaal soon to drop the Galra off, before taking The Atlas to their home on New Altea.
Allura and Keith smile to him, and the three watch the screen as they approach the two Planets.
Shiro asks if they are nervous. Keith says no, he feels confident and hopeful. Allura agrees, smiling brightly she says "after all, this is the beginning of a new story."

Notes:
I am so sorry this took so long to post. I did not mean for it to take this ling, but I just had a rather off holiday season (not bad by any means, just off), so it's been harder for me to get back into the swing of things.
It does kind of work out though, as I created my first draft of this rewrite pretty much one year ago.
But anyhow, let's get into talking about this ending.
.
So, my biggest problem (and I think most people's problem) with the ending of the series was what happened to the main characters, especially with the end cards. I heard they were supposedly tacked on at the last minute, and it sure seems like it. While Shiro, Pidge, and Hunk had somewhat 'happy' endings they were only happy in a very sterile way.
What do I mean by "sterile", well, there was nothing deep or meaningful to their look at their end cards:
"Shiro found his happiness and finally left the battlefield behind" Ok, that sounds good and all, but there was no development to this 'happiness'. What even makes him happy? I though his passion was space exploration, did he get to return to that? We don't know. He's just happy.
"The Holt Family established the next generation of Legendary Defenders." It's nice that the family stuck together, but that doesn't give us anything about Pidge specifically. Plus not everyone would get the Vehicle Voltron cameos that give weight to what they are doing.
"Hunk created a culinary empire, bringing the universe together, one meal at a time." Hunk's is the best and as we at least know he's doing things he enjoys, cooking and bringing people together. We can assume it's like what was shown earlier in the episode, where he cooks for leaders during a delegation, but the image presented looks more like he's the owner of a galactic restaurant chain more so then anything else.
The summaries to their lives just feel so hollow, and those were only the 'happy' ones, it only gets worse from there.
Coran didn't even get a title card, but let's talk about him for a minute. He was left completely alone without any close friends or loved ones nearby. Even though Merla was shown speaking to him, showing he talks to people, they had no relationship. What were we supposed to get from that scene? I was left with the feeling that he would forever be alone, his life dedicated to nothing but ensuring that Altea flourished in Allura's name, never stopping to rest, least the ghosts of the ones he lost haunt him.
Even though I hate Allura dying (and I'll get to that in a moment), if they had Romelle there with him at the end instead, his story would have ended on a more positive note. Since they had an established friendship in the show we could have seen it as him having lost one daughter only to gain another. We would know he would be able to have a new family with her.
Speaking of Romelle, all she got was a cameo relegated to the background of Hunk's ending where she wore a chef's outfit. Such a great ending for this important Voltron legacy character! [/sarcasm]
Back to the main Paladins;
"Lance continued to spread Allura's message while surrounding himself with the things he loved." It sounds like he become an Altean missionary who shared the gospel of Allura, even though the picture just shows him working on his family's farm. I know many others, and myself felt that he would forever pine after Allura, living his life out in a way that forever left him longing for something more. How is that a good place to leave a character?
What about his dreams, his goals in life? He was the most ambitious of the Paladins, and while his ambitions at the beginning of the series might not have had the best reasoning (going to prove how good he is by being better then Keith and stuff like that), his reason should have grown and changed though the series, not his whole existence. He should have still been determined to become a Pilot and do great things, not to prove his worth, but because he had the passion, drive, and determination to go out and do them.
"Keith helped transition The Blade of Marmora to a humanitarian relief organization." Keith working for a humanitarian relief organization, that's a good idea. Fits with his caring and how he shows his love through acts of service. However, him transitioning The Blade of Marmora into a humanitarian relief organization is such a stupid concept. That would be like something tossing out the idea of turning the Navy Seals into a humanitarian relief organization. These people are specifically trained to fight. While they can offer aid, and work with humanitarian relief organizations, they are completely different things!
On top of all that, due to how the last two seasons went with his supposed friendships with the Paladins, I was depressingly left feeling Keith's story ended exactly where we met him at the beginning of the series: A loner with few friends and connections. Yes, I know he now had his mother, but she was to be shown busy as a leader of the Galra without Keith. While Axca, Ezor, and Zethrid were in the background of his title card, when were we shown them becoming close? We weren't. The golden rule of visual storytelling is "Show, don't tell". Because we weren't shown, we can't say it happened.
Heck, I don't even remember if Keith spoke to Axca at all after "The Way Forward", and she was the one he had the most positive interactions with.
With all the Paladins spread out back on Earth, Keith seems to have once more gone down a path of solitude. The character who needed friends and family the most ended up alone.
And Allura's ending was the worst ending of them all. I've talked many times throughout these rewrites of the many horrible things I felt was done to her character throughout the last two seasons. Killing her was the moldy cherry on top of that spoiled and rancid cake. Allura, who lost and sacrificed so much; whose character should have been raised up and allowed to flourish into a leader better than those who came before her, instead her ending was the same fate as the final villain, and there was no rightful justification for it.

As Allura and Honerva walk to their deaths, Honerva smiles, happy over the outcome as she gets to be reunited with her husband and son, while Allura looks sorrowful, her promising life ending too soon.
What an insulting and reprehensible ending for this character.
I wanted to rectify all these things with this final rewrite, and give them the happy and satisfying endings they deserved. I hope even if you aren't one hundred percent satisfied with my endings for the characters, they are at least more palatable then canon.
.
Now that I've spoken about the heroes, not onto the Villains.
So, I know Honerva's ending here has shades of her original ending, but I really hope the differences stand out in what I wrote. I'm sure many would want to see her just outright killed/defeated, but since I really play up the 'The Zarkon family is possessed and unable to control themselves' I went with her having a redemptive ending.
The difference between my version and canon, is that canon showed Honerva's issues to be her thinking she was never happy. After Allura made her remember the good times, and that was it. No acknowledgement or apologies for all the evil she committed. Just "Huh, your right. Ok, let's bring the universe back." Nothing was even done with the Rift Creature that was still in her, Allura, and the other Alteans. That was all forgotten along with every other interesting plot thread.
With the chance of repeating myself from other chapters; my version of the 'Rift Creature' -actually the corrupted White Lion- literally warped how she, Zarkon, and Lotor saw everything. They could not truly see right from wrong, only their own desires and how things affected them. So, once freed from that corruption they regained their true selves and instantly knew all the evil they committed. Honerva wanted to make things right. I emphasize 'wanting" cause that's the key to redeeming a character, the desire to make things right.
Her and Lotor sacrificing themselves to fix the universe they helped tear apart was their way of making right all their wrongs and redeeming themselves.
And while I'm sure many would have liked Lotor to live, I see this as the better way; only because if he lived he would have been held accountable for his crimes just like the other Galran Warlords and Altean Acolytes. At least now he can unite with his uncorrupted parents and friends in the Connected Consciousness of all Existence, and one day reunite with the Paladins and experience a true friendship with them.
.
Speaking of the Connected Consciousness of all Existence.
So, my version of this realm is clearly some sort of Well of Allsparks/Heaven-esk place. I know that idea might be a bit corny, but like I have Keith's dad point out, in S2E4 "Greening the Cube", Pidge says that she was told everyone was made up from the same star dust. Keith was so heartened by that idea, that I thought in this place called "Connected Consciousness of all Existence" it could be the same for people's Souls/Quintessence.
Plus, I thought it lead to one of my favorite parts of this chapter, the return of all the dead characters. I truly wanted this final story to be a celebration of everything that we loved about the series, and this allowed me the opportunity to bring back all the characters we grew to love. Even the minor ones that meant more to the fandom then they did the writers.
It also leaves us with the satisfaction and peace knowing that even though the Paladins are all going their own ways in life, no matter what, one day they will all be reunited not only with each other, but with all their loved ones here.
.
One more thing I wanted to point out is that Keith does not rule all of New Daibazaal. He is one leader amongst many. I have seen "Emperor Keith" AUs and not only do I feel that role doesn't fit Keith; I don't think that role should exist on New Daibazaal at all.
The Galra just got through living under the thumb of one ruler for the past 10,000 years. There are going to be changes with their new world and that starts with how their leadership is set up. Rather than one person who has all the power, they have multiple leaders who come together and govern for the people. They are not permanent positions and can be voted out.
Keith is certainly an important voice, and one who was actually asked to take a role of leadership by the people (there's a lot of half-breeds who look up to him), but he is not the final say. One day his time as leader will be up, and he will move on.
I actually do envision his future much like the ending of the show where he ends up working with a humanitarian organization. But this time around he, Axca, Ezor, and Zethrid would team up with Allura, Shiro, and the Garrison to create a multi-species group that would then go and work with Voltron and Vehicle Voltron to help those in need.
See? Despite living some time away from each other, all the characters can end up continuing their lives together after all!
.
Here’s a bonus gallery of a bunch of the designs I tried to recreate/come up with for how the characters look at the end.

First, I forgot to post this back with my version of S8E5. This was what they wore to the Paladin’s game night. As you can see I changed the colors of Rizavi and Leifsdottir’s outfits. I gave Griffin the clothing Lance wore on his date in S8E1. Since he didn’t use the outfit in this version I thought it would work here, especially since I gave Griffin a ‘well thought of’ family, I though his casual wear would be a bit more fancy. For Kincade, I had my friend who really liked him help me design his clothing. We thought this fit him.

This is the clothing the characters wear after the final montage. Of course the Paladin’s outfits are based off the canon outfits shown in the final group picture in the show. I didn’t have much to go on, so I made a lot of it up.
Allura’s dress is the one shown in the alternate universe Honerva went to (Coran at this time would be wearing the outfit he there too).
I completely changed Lance’s hair. I don’t know why the creators wanted to give him such an unkempt look in the last design, but I saw someone do an edit where they gave him Matt’s hairdo from the ‘Chip’ scene at the end. I thought that looked so good on him I opted to give that to him. Plus, now Matt can keep his long hair!

So these are the outfits the characters are wearing in the final scene when they leave for New Altea/New Daibazaal. I gave each Altean a bit of pink in their clothing. Since Pink was the color of remembrance, I figured many, especially the leadership would wear it not only in remembrance of all the Alteans that were lost, but for everyone who had been lost not only at the hands of the Galra, but at the hands of the Alteans as well. It’s a reminder to never let it happen again.
I forgot to put a new stone in Romelle’s crown. Woopsie!

I tried to blend Armor the Galra of old wore with the BoM uniforms. Showing that they are not completely leaving everything that once was behind. Instead they are taking what had been good and bringing it back.
\Keith’s outfit I blended not only with the BoM and ancient Galra armor, but also added some of the Paladin style as well. His armor is black instead of blue as a symbol of his time as Black paladin. I’m not complety satisfied with his design, bit this is where I settled for now.

I opted to give the new line of Plaldins completely new Armor. Since Voltron is currently set up on Earth, their armor is a blend of Altean armor and the MFE flight suits.
I also wanted to do some other pictures like Sven in the Garrison, and some others, but I never got to it. Maybe in the future.
.
So that’s all for now.
I do have an idea for a short story that would be a continuation of the actual canon story; a way to fix the blunders of the ending and wrap things up on a better note, and be connected to this post of mine. But no promises to when that will be made.
So, for the time being this is where it all ends. Thank you so much for reading all this. I truly hope you enjoyed it.
Have a wonderful day!

VLD8x13 – “The End is the Beginning” (part 2)
8x13 – “The End is the Beginning”
(This is a continuation from part 1.)
“One Year Later…”
Keith, Cosmo, Kolivan, and Krolia are at the Kral Zera. Keith is being broadcast across the Galra Empire and he gives a speech, “With the return of Planet Daibazaal, the Galra Empire is at a crossroads. For too long, the people of this extraordinary civilization have been manipulated by a dictatorship that placed a misguided sense of self-preservation above all else. It was a tragic, unfortunate series of events that led us down this dark, never-ending path of power and greed. But now, we, the citizens of the Galra Empire have an opportunity to make right all of the injustices set into motion by our forefathers. Because of the sacrifice made by Princess Allura, we have been given a second chance to come together in rebuilding the Galra Empire by joining the Galactic Coalition and ushering in a new era of peace across the universe.” Everyone cheers for him. It’s interesting that he says “we, the citizens of the Galra Empire.” I guess Keith now considers himself to be not just half-Galra but to be part of the Empire.
Cut to the Atlas, who’s hosting some contentious diplomatic talks. Hunk serves them dinner. It’s a satisfying end for Hunk’s character to combine cooking and diplomacy. Hunk is thankful of the diversity of his cooking crew, which includes Shay, Sal from Vrepit Sal’s, Sal’s chef’s hat-looking android (I think it’s an android), and Romelle. Hunk says, “Princess Allura, the very person we celebrate on this day, once said, we are always stronger together. If the people of your planets work together, so much more can be achieved.” Shiro stands up from the table and concurs with Hunk, “Honor her by following in her footsteps and walking the path towards peace.”
Cut to Pidge is working with Matt to build an android. Matt does not look like Matt. I know his hair cut, but his body, the shape of his face does not quite look like him to me. Colleen comes in to tell Pidge that Sam has the teludav is ready for her. Pidge tells Matt to wait until she gets back before initializing the android, who she’s named Chip, because she wants “to witness Chip’s first moments of consciousness” and she places Matt’s old glasses on the android.
Pidge in the Green Lion takes off and travels through a wormhole.
Cut to Altea. Merla tells Coran, “Construction is on course.” They’re building a new castle. He asks her, “How are preparations for tonight’s feast coming? It has to be perfect. It will be the first celebration of Allura, the first of many to come.” Coran is excited. And this just makes me think about how Allura died and we did not get a moment for her to say goodbye to Coran. Coran, who has been there for her more than anyone else, really. The show didn’t even write her to tell the others to say anything to Coran on her behalf. We get nothing to see how Coran reacted to learning that Allura died. Given how Coran has been depicted in this show, it must have broken his heart.
Up the hill, in front of a large statue of Allura, Lance is talking to a bunch of kids. “And had Princess Allura not seen that there was still good left in Honerva, we most likely would not be sitting here today. She grew to understand that there is good in everyone.” I have such a huge problem with this portrayal of Honerva being good. It just feels so offensive. One kid asks, “Even Emperor Zarkon?” and Lance slightly laughs, “Yes, even Emperor Zarkon.” The kid asks, “Do you miss her?” and Lance says, “I do. Very much. But, I’m reminded of her everywhere I look. So in that way, she’s still very much with me. With all of us, actually.”
Another kid asks him what he does now that he doesn’t pilot the Red Lion. Why does he not pilot the Red Lion? I don’t understand the logic behind this show saying that Voltron is no longer needed. Lance answers, “Well, I help run a small farm back on my home planet with my family. It’s a simple life, just the way I like it.” I am torn on this. It does make some sense in that Lance has a history of missing his family, so I could see him wanting to spend a lot of time with them now that he can. I can even understand that he would have something to do with farming since we got that one scene a long time ago wherein Lance milked Kaltenecker. Lance being a farmer does feel like it doesn’t match the core of his character that drove him to want to be a fighter pilot and proud to be a sharpshooter though. I think for me this works because I can still imagine that Lance only working as a farmer with his family for a while, a few years maybe, before he gets an urge to go once more into the universe.
Pidge arrives on Altea.
Coran, Shiro, Lance, Hunk, Pidge, and Keith have a meal together that night in front of Allura’s statue. Pidge says that Earth has become a hub for alien activity since her father has built a teludav there. What powers it, I wonder. Wormholes were created throughout this show specifically by Allura. So where does the power come from? Shiro is pleased because the teludav will help him in his responsibilities as captain of the Atlas. Hunk comments about his use of food with diplomacy and says, “This diplomacy thing isn’t as easy as Allura made it look.” (I don’t actually think she made it look easy, but okay.) Keith says, “But then she did make everything look easy.”
Shiro asks Keith how things are on Daibazaal. Keith says there’s going to be an election for a Galra representative for the Galactic Coalition. Lance says, “Let me guess, they asked you to be their leader and you said no?” Keith says, “Yeah, pretty much.” The Galra, with their long history and culture that rigidly promotes Galra-supremacism, wanted Keith to be their leader? That does not feel in any way realistic. Lance sarcastically responds, “Classic Keith.” I guess Lance’s comment is supposed to reflect back to when Keith left the group in 4x01 “Code of Honor.” It doesn’t quite feel like an accurate response. In that episode, they weren’t exactly asking Keith to lead them, they were criticizing him for being away on intelligence gathering missions with the Blades while the Paladins were having parades. Whatever.
Coran says, “Allura would be proud of your decision Keith. I think she knew that you would always be the key to the Galra’s future.” But Keith’s decision was to not accept the position of leadership of the Galra, so what is Coran talking about? Also, there is nothing in this show where Allura expresses a thought that Keith would one day be key to the Galra’s future. I mean, Lance in 7x04 “The Fued!” said that he thought that Keith was “the future,” but I can’t think of anything from Allura where she thought Keith would make Galra culture less aggressive.
Coran continues, “Just around this table I see so many lives touched by her actions. For some of us, she was a diplomat, a teacher, a leader, and a friend. But to those of us around this table, she will always be family.” He stands, holds his glass forth, and toasts, “To Allura!” I really do like Coran. The others join him in the toast.
Later that night, Lance wakes to a light through his window and the sound of a Lion roaring. He goes outside and is followed by the others. Blue is sitting on the ground while the other Lions are floating in the air. There’s a sequence of juxtapositions of Lions and Paladins. Yellow and Hunk. Green and Pidge. Black and Shiro and Keith. Red and Blue with Lance. Lance’s Altean facial marks glow. Why do they glow?
The Lions blast off. The camera zooms out from Altea.
Then cut to two photographs of the group at Allura’s statue. One from this night’s dinner and one from some undefined time later.
Then there’s the infamous epilogue. In one of their interviews earlier this year, JDS and LM said that the epilogue was originally going to be full of silly things about background characters, not about the main characters. If that’s true, then as bothersome as the epilogue is because of the last-minute change to have Shiro marry Curtis, at least it resulted in them changing the epilogue to focus on the show’s main characters.
An image of Pidge, Matt, and members of the Galaxy Garrison in a hangar with the caption, “The Holt family established the next generation of Legendary Defenders.”
An image of Hunk with a large cooking staff of many different species with the caption, “Hunk created a culinary empire, bringing the universe together, one meal at a time.”
An image of Lance on the farm with Altean juniberry flowers and the caption, “Lance continued to spread Allrua’s message while he surrounded himself with the things he loved.”
An image of Kolivan giving a meeting with the caption, “Kolivan and Krolia became the Galra representatives to the Galactic Coalition.”
An image of Keith in a Blade of Marmora outfit with Axca, Zethrid, and Ezor helping him hand out supplies with the caption, “Keith helped to transition The Blade of Marmora to a humanitarian relief organization.”
An image of Shiro and Curtis in white tuxes with friends behind them with the caption, “Shiro found his happiness and finally left the battle behind.” About this caption, I feel I need details. If this means that Shiro retired specifically from military combat service, then I’m okay with that. Shiro wasn’t ever specifically trying to be a soldier. There might have been some military components to his being a member of the Galaxy Garrison, but his goals were always about conducting space exploration missions. So, if his having “left the battle behind” means he’s returned to space exploration specifically and not military leadership, then I’m okay with that. If his having “left the battle behind” is a reference to him being able to feel restored and whole in dealing with PTSD, I can be okay with that too. If this all means that Shiro gave up everything that had made him happy in the past for this relationship, which is what Adam had wanted him to do, then I’m not okay with that.
The image frame opens up, Curtis moves in and he and Shiro kiss while everyone cheers for them. I’m going to admit, watching it now is making me cry. As a gay man from the United States, I actually never thought that I would ever be able to get married. I’m not married, but maybe one day. But that I am legally able to do so now means a lot to me. I am older than this show’s target audience, but I still love animated storytelling. Had I been able to see a male character have a same-sex relationship like this when I was young, it would have had a huge effect on me. Growing up, I was not taught that it was okay to be gay. I was taught the precise opposite, actually. It was really hard for me. I got to the point of suicide over it. So, I think a lot about queer youth, and I don’t want any of them to go through what I went through. This show has had serious flaws in how poorly it has depicted Shiro being gay. But I really hope that if this show could have any positive effect that it has helped and continues to help kids who are like I was, help them feel that it’s okay for them to be who they are.
After the credits, there’s a shot of the Lions flying toward a nebula that looks like Allura.
Thank you to everyone who has read, liked, reblogged, commented, and talked with me about this show while I’ve done this series of commentaries. I really appreciate it.

some things are meant to be
this is a birthday present for @nblance happy birthday my dude 💙
Pairing: klance
Word count: 2242
Rating: general
It was officially the big day. The day they were to marry. Nerves and anticipation filled the room and Lance was ready to burst. It was - finally - the day he and Keith were going to marry. Lance felt a flutter of nerves in his stomach as he looked at himself in the mirror, fixing his ceremonial uniform from the Garrison, showing off the medals he’d earned throughout the years. He toyed with his hair a little, hands shaking.
“Lance.”
He jumped at the voice of his mother. “Hey, ma.”
“Ready?” She asked kindly, warm smile on her face for her youngest son. She walked closer and brushed his shoulder with her hands. “Mijo, I’m so happy for you.” She grinned, eyes already watery.
Lance grinned and hugged her tightly. “Thanks, ma.” He murmured and squeezed a little harder before letting her go.
“You ready?”
He nodded, exhaling deeply. “Yeah.”
Laura led him downstairs, the ceremony and reception being held in the same place where Keith and Lance were staying for the night. Lance saw Veronica talking with Rachel, both in short dresses because of course Lance would want his wedding to be held in the great outdoors and of course Keith was one to concede to whatever Lance wanted.
He and Laura walked towards them, butterflies in his stomach. The fact that he was to marry Keith was sinking in and fast. The nerves were cranked up and he seriously wanted to drown the butterflies in his stomach.
His irrational thoughts were surfacing and he wanted to step on them as hard as he could.
“Hey, little bro” Rachel grinned, throwing her arms around Lance for a quick hug. “You ready?”
Lance nodded, swallowing thickly.
What if they were rushing? What if Keith didn’t want to get married so early on? What if-
He shook his head a little to get rid of those nasty thoughts. They weren’t rushing anything. They had been dating for six years for fucks sake. Twenty-eight was a good age to get married.
Rachel and Veronica guided Lance to his place, while his mother took a seat next to his father at the front row where his most important people sat. He could see everyone from there, Pidge and Romelle were sitting together, along with Matt and his girlfriend. Krolia was next to Laura, looking stoic in her ceremonial Blade suit. Everyone tried to get her to wear a dress, but they all agreed she looked awkward in them. And she confessed she wasn’t comfortable in dresses.
Lance felt a rush of relief when he saw Hunk and Allura approaching. “Five more minutes for the guests to get comfortable and we start.” Allura announced.
“Is it normal to feel so nervous?” Lance asked to no one in particular. He could feel the nervous sweat rolling down his back and hands shaking as he tightened his fists.
Hunk grinned at him sympathetically. “Definitely. But don’t be nervous, man. Keith is as cool as a cucumber.”
Earlier
“Holy, shit, Shiro.” Keith breathed as he paced in front of his brother and Adam. “What if he doesn’t want to marry me? What if-”
“Christ, Keith. Calm down.” Adam chuckled. “I’m sure Lance does want to marry you. He was pining after your ass for like a solid two years. Now, calm down. You’re going to mess up your hair,” He huffed and fixed the stray hair that had fallen from Keith’s bun. He patted Keith’s shoulders, flattening the wrinkles on his ceremonial uniform.
Keith took a deep breath, calming down his nerves. “I’m fine. I’m cool. It’s all good.”
“Your face is drenched in sweat.”
“Fuck!”
Lance was impatiently waiting at the end of the isle for Keith. He was supposed to arrive five minutes ago and the black paladin was nowhere to be found. He was nervous, he felt like his heart was in his throat and every second that passed he felt like his stomach would drop out of his feet.
“Lance!”
Lance turned at the sound of Keith’s voice. His breath hitched when he saw Keith in his ceremonial uniform, his own badges on display. Lance noticed Keith’s hair was tied up in a bun at the crown of his head instead of his usual ponytail.
“Hi.” He breathed out, unsubtle raking his eyes over Keith.
“Hey.” Keith stared at him for a solid five seconds before giggling.
Lance blinked at him because that was knew. Keith had never giggled before. And Lance knew all about Keith’s laughing fits but this was a new sound.
“You look amazing, babe.” Keith took Lance’s hands in his own, smiling softly.
Lance returned the smile and just as he was about to say the same to Keith, Rachel interrupted them.
“Just because you’re defenders of the universe, doesn’t mean you can be late.” She scowled at Keith without any heat. “You ready?”
The paladins looked at each other before nodding at her. She was gone in the blink of an eye and not even a minute later, the music started to play. Keith let go of one of Lance’s hand and smiled at his soon to be husband. Lance had butterflies in his stomach because in a matter of minutes they would officially be husbands.
Not even halfway down the aisle Lance already had tears in his eyes and Keith was a giggling mess next to Lance. Once they arrived at the podium Coran initiated the wedding, talking about how he remembered when he would officiate weddings at the castle and making a joke here and there. Lance knew he was only doing that to calm their nerves and Lance was grateful for him.
Once they hand exchanged their vows and had their rings on their fingers, Coran announced they could kiss. Lance didn’t spare a second, grabbing Keith by the cheeks and kissing the living daylights out of him. Laughter bubbled out of both of their mouths, gleeful they were finally husbands.
Their families were the first people to hug them tightly and pepper kisses on their faces.
They made it to the reception area that wasn't so far from the ceremony. Lance had asked Kinkade to be their photographer and the pilot had promise they would get the best pictures. After a small photographic session and everyone was inside the reception area, the couple took a few minutes to themselves.
“You look amazing, Keith.” Lance murmured, thumb rubbing Keith's cheek softly.
“You don’t looks so bad yourself.” Keith was blushing as he fiddled with one of the badges on Lance’s uniform, silver ring glinting under the lights.
Lance took Keith’s hand in his and kissed his knuckles followed by the ring, the matal cold against his lips. “I’m so happy, you have no idea.”
Keith smiled at him, features soft before he leaned forward and pressed their lips together in a soft kiss. “You ready?”
Lance let out a breathy chuckle. “Why do you sound nervous? Not even half of the Garrison is here, dude.”
“You’re seriously calling me dude?”
“Would you prefer dude or mullet? Maybe even man.”
“Oh, my god. Shut up and let’s go.”
Lance was chuckling as they entered, Hunk, being the mic man, announcing them as they entered. Everyone was cheering for them as they did. They made it to the dance floor and Can’t Help Falling In Love started to play. They stood closer, forehead pressed together and arms around each other.
“Your song choice was corny as hell, babe.” Lance snorted, but it wasn’t malicious. The soft look on his face screamed he was touched by the sentiment of the song.
Lance shut his eyes, smile ghosting his lips. Keith did the same, getting lost in Lance’s presence and blocking out everyone else. It was their day, finally, after so many tries of making the wedding possible, they finally did.
The song ended, but they didn’t move away from each other, instead Keith wrapped his arms tighter around Lance, wanting to enjoy the moment a little more.
“Okay, you two, move it. We have speeches to give.” Pidge said into the mic, Hunk being heard protesting faintly in the background.
Lance and Keith chuckled but turned their attention to them. Keith snorted at their two friends fighting over the mic. Finally, it was Allura who snatched the mic.
“I’m not sure how these speeches really work but I just wanted to say that I’m very happy for you two. You finally get to officiate your love for one another. Keith, I know we started out a little rough but I’m very glad you finally came out of your shell and, what was it that Pidge said? ‘Grew the balls to ask out Lance?’” She looked back at Pidge who gave Allura a thumbs up while everyone else laughed. “Lance, you’re an amazing friend and I’m sure you’ll be an even better husband. To Lance and Keith.”
“To Lance and Keith!”
Shiro was up and when he took the mic from Allura, he not so subtly wiped his eyes with a tissue. “Hi everyone.” He smiled sort of sheepishly.
“Seven years as a commanding officer and he still gets nervous talking in front of crowds. Wimp.” Keith murmured, making Lance snort behind the champagne glass Adam had handed them.
“It’ll be quick, I promise. These two had been pining for each other for too long, let’s start with that.” Shiro started, making the newlyweds groan. “But I think it was worth it. The love you two have for one another is amazing and I know many would do anything to have what you do. It’s amazing how far you two have come and I hope it doesn’t stop now.” He was starting to tear up, clearing his throat every few words. “I’m proud of both you and happy to see this day finally happen. Keep doing great, boys. To Lance and Keith.”
“To Lance and Keith!”
Pidge and Hunk were next, but instead of speaking, a video began to play on the wall behind the two engineers. Lance started to tear up at the pictures and videos that began to show up. There were pictures of their Garrison days, to videos of when they were training together in the castle. Lance wanted to die when an audio feed that he wanted to erase from his memory was brought up.
“We had a bonding moment. I cradled you in my arms!”
The words “Lance, in fact, does remember” popped up on the screen.
“You remembered?!” Keith asked incredulously.
“I was having a bi crisis, okay?!”
Keith huffed out a laugh, turning back to the screen. Silly pictures of them as a group and a couple came up in chronological order. The video of the proposal came up.
Lance had asked Keith to marry him in a rather inconvenient situation.
They were in the middle of infiltrating a Galra base when Lance had turned to Keith and asked, “When all of this is over, will you marry me?”
Keith had frozen in his tracks and turned to Lance. “Are you shitting me? We’re in the middle of a mission, Lance!”
“Okay, but is that a yes or a no?”
Keith glared at him before pressing a bruising kiss on Lance’s mouth. “Of course, dumbass. But if you try to ask me another important question like that I swear I’ll maim you.”
“Roger that, team leader.”
No one could see the look on Lance’s face as the feed was coming from his helmet cam but everyone knew there was a smirk in his face.
Other pictures and videos of them on Earth showed up. Dates, hang outs and pictures of how they came to be being most of them. Lance thought the video was corny, but it was the sentiment that counted. Besides, he loved corny things even if he wouldn’t admit it.
Once the slideshow finished Lance rushed to his friends and hugged them tightly, thanking them for it. “It was amazing. How did you get so many vids from the castle.”
“We had a little help.” Hunk grinned and looked at Coran.
Lance owed that man his life.
A few minutes later, the party was in full swing. Almost everyone was dancing and having a good time. Lance stood a little to the side, drink in hand and taking it all in. He felt like his heart would burst out of his chest by how happy he was. Keith looked stunning dancing with Lance’s niece and nephew, cheeks flushed and laughing loudly. As if sensing him, Keith looked at him and locked eyes. He watched as Keith bent down and whispered something to them. The two kids turned to Lance and hurried towards him.
“Tío! Come dance with us!” Victoria took his free hand and started to tug on it. “Pretty please!”
Lance chuckled at their puppy eyes and set his drink down. “Alright, I’ll dance with you.”
He let them tug him along to the dance floor where he was immediately swallowed in by his family. There was laughter and jokes going around about their dance moves going around. Keith was laughing just as loud as everyone else, and Lance really felt like his heart was going to burst any second.
He didn’t regret his things happened between them. He thought if they were any different, they wouldn’t be where they are right now and that was something Lance would never change.

So I saw an adorable drawing of Adam and Shiro. It threw me off for a second to see no scar or any white hair on Shiro. I figured the artist just wanted to give early Shiro a try. But then I realized Adam never got to see Shiro with a Galra prosthetic, or lack of. He never saw full or partial white hair. Now I just want to see a something with Adam's reaction to any of the changes Shiro underwent. This isn't a request or demand btw. I just know your blog (is awesome and) appreciates Shiro. 😊
oh if you don’t think i’m gonna write this then be prepared to see this shit
i know you said this isn’t a request but damnit, i’m gonna do what i do moderately well
When the paladins were told that they were going back to Earth, they were all excited to see their families, who probably thought that they were dead. Shiro, however, was more nervous than anything. He had no one to go home to, since his parents were in Japan, and they weren’t about to travel across the ocean because someone said they “saw” him. The only person he could think of was Adam, the one person who was there for him for everything. Honestly, Shiro wanted to see him more than anything, even more than his want to defeat the Galra. But what would he think of him now? They didn’t necessarily end on good terms, with Adam saying he wouldn’t be there when Shiro got back. If anything, Adam probably moved on, married someone else who was way better for him. Even if he didn’t have anyone, would he even want to see Shiro?
Shiro sighed, rubbing his face. He knew he was spiraling, but he couldn’t help it. Luckily, Keith noticed the change in his mood, and placed a hand on his shoulder.
“Are you okay?”
Shiro nodded, smiling slightly. “Yeah, I was just thinking about Adam,”
“Are you going to visit him?” Keith asked, an inquisitive look on his face.
Shiro shrugged his shoulders, not feeling like continuing the conversation further. He looked around the black lion’s hangar, noting how clean it was, not a single thing of Keith’s belongings were in here. He supposed that the other boy didn’t see the need to keep souvenirs from their adventures, but not even his jacket was in here. His thoughts started drifting off, more images of Adam clouding his thoughts. He remembered how much fun they had together, how he had a plan to propose to Adam, only for him to propose first. He remembered how they fought about the Kerberos mission, how Adam was just trying to protect him, how he was too stubborn to realize how his actions affected Adam. Shiro couldn’t believe how dumb he was, he had the perfect life and he decided to push it away, and for what? Years of mental and physical abuse at the hand of the Galra? The stress of having to deal with a bunch of students, not trained fighters? The only good thing that came out of the situation was that since he was in his clone’s body, his disease was gone, leaving him to live the rest of his life, if he didn’t die again. Shiro felt his anxiety creeping up. If Adam even wanted to talk to him, how was Shiro supposed to tell him that he died in space? He’s basically a type of zombie now, right?
He kept these thoughts to himself, since he didn’t want to bother Keith with more of his “boy” troubles. So instead, he decided to let his thoughts lull him to sleep.
His dreams were filled with Adam, and how different his life would’ve been if he hadn’t left Earth.
——
Shiro was woken up by the sound of Lance over the intercom, telling everyone excitedly that they’re in the Milky Way. With their lions and how advanced they were, it only took them a couple of minutes to reach Earth. Once they were close enough Pidge called the Garrison in hopes of reaching her dad.
“Hello? Galaxy Garrison, this is Katie Holt, requesting to land.”
There was silence, before the crackle of the speaker came to life:
“This is Commander Iverson from the Galaxy Garrison, there seems to be more than one ship, who else is with you?”
“We have Lance McClain, Hunk Garrett, Keith Kogane, Takashi Shirogane, and a couple of friends from our travels.”
More silence, before Iverson spoke again:
“How the hell are you guys still alive?”
Lance laughed, turning on his speaker to respond, “It takes more than us jetting off into space to get rid of us.”
Pidge coughed, an exasperated sigh coming out of her mouth. “Do we have permission to land at the Garrison?”
Iverson snorted, clearly amused. “Go on ahead, we’ll have some questions for you.”
The connection was cut. As they were about to touch down Shiro couldn’t help but feel his nerves coming back. Was Adam in the room with Iverson? Does he know that he’s alive? Does he even want to see him?
Before Shiro could say anything the sound of the hangar opening stopped him in his tracks. Stepping outside, he felt the sun shine on him. SIghing, a smile graced his face. He forgot how nice the sun felt on his skin, how warm and comforting it was. Sure, there was heat and light on the planets they’ve visited, but they paled in comparison to the sun on their home planet.
Looking over at the other paladins he noticed Hunk, Lance, and Pidge swarmed by their families while Keith and Krolia was showing Allura, Coran, and Romelle the Garrison. Shiro felt extremely out of place, not surrounded by any family members, and the Garrison no longer felt like his home. Just as he was about to group up with Keith and Krolia he heard a loud gasp. Turning his head he felt the air catch in his throat.
There he was, standing there, his hands over his mouth, clearly shocked that Shiro was alive. Adam looked just the same as the day he left, although there were some gray hairs poking through his brown locks. Shiro wanted to move, to run over there and wrap him in his arms and never let him go. Something in him forced him to stand still, watching as the love of his life looked at him, tears falling down his face. Before Shiro could even force his body to move, Adam ran over to him, crushing him in a hug.
“Takashi? How are you alive?”
The only sound that came out of Shiro was a choked sob. He finally returned the hug, burying his face in Adam’s shoulder, too embarrassed to look up.
After a couple minutes of sobbing between the two, Shiro finally looked up at Adam, who was having a hard time trying to stop his tears from running.
“I’m so sorry that I ever left. You were right, you were always right. It wasn’t worth it, I should’ve been here with you—”
Adam interrupted him by pressing his lips against his. It wasn’t a gentle kiss by any means. It tasted like salty tears and their noses bumped into each other painfully, but there was love to be found in it. Some gasps were heard from the paladins, minus Keith, who was just smiling at them. They ignored it, though, as Adam pulled away slightly, a smile on his face.
“There’s nothing to be sorry about, Takashi,” He looked down at his shoes, a small laugh coming out of his mouth, “If anyone should be sorry, it’s me. I shouldn’t have made you choose between me or the mission. You were just trying to prove that you could still fly.”
Adam brushed a small tear away from Shiro’s eye before continuing, “I’m so proud of you Takashi.”
Shiro smiled, nuzzling his forehead against Adam’s, content to just be holding each other. He felt Adam’s hand reach the end of his right arm, where his arm had been cut off by Keith. Looking up, Adam noticed the pure shock of white hair, and the scar that ran across the bridge of his nose. He couldn’t even imagine the horror that Shiro went through all those years. All those years of sitting as a prisoner, the constant fear of not living to see the next day. Knowing about that, part of Adam wanted to smack Shiro and give him a long lecture, but another part of him just wanted to shield him away from anything else that could hurt him. Shiro seemed to sense his mood, as he shifted slightly.
“Yeah, I don’t look as great as I used to,” He said, rubbing the back of his neck.
Adam shook his head frantically, cupping Shiro’s face with his hands. “No! You look great! A little different, but you still look handsome,”
Shiro seemed to perk up a little bit. “Yeah?”
Adam nodded his head, smiling. “Yeah, you look good with white hair.”
Shiro laughed, tightening his grip on Adam’s waist. He felt calm, for the first time in what felt like forever. It was amazing that one person could make him feel so at peace with life. He wanted to feel like this forever.
As if remembering something, he pulled away from Adam quickly, digging in his pockets for something. Adam gave him a confused look, tilting his head slightly.
“What are you doing?” He asked.
Shiro looked at him, a nervous smile on his face. He took a deep breath before speaking:
“So, feel free to say no, but there’s never been a day when I haven’t loved you. Even after our fight before the Kerberos mission, I still knew that I wouldn’t get over you. Now that I’m back I want to set things right.”
He got down on one knee, causing the other man’s eyes to widen. Shiro pulled out a golden ring. It was simple for an engagement ring, but neither of them were flashy to begin with.
“Adam, even though I may be an idiot at times, and I’ll probably never give up my stubborn ways, will you marry me?”
Tears were filling Adam’s eyes. He couldn’t get the words out of his throat, so instead he threw himself at Shiro, causing them to lose balance and fall to the ground. Shiro laughed, kissing Adam’s temple.
“I’ll take that as a yes,”
Adam laughed, gently taking the ring from Shiro’s hand to place it on his finger. Looking down at the white haired man, he smiled, kissing him.
“I’m so glad that you didn’t die,”
Shiro looked away from him, an awkward laugh coming out of his throat. “Yeah, about that…”
“Takashi!”

Voltron au!
Thanks to @kani-the-crab , they drove the angst factor on this a whole lot lol
So, basically the whole thing is an Attack on Titan au Voltron style
Keith, who acts as Eren in this case, is just as eager and as much of a little shit as Eren is. He questions the walls protection of their city, and dreams of the day he can join the Survey Corps and enjoy the freedom of being outside the walls he’s grown up in. Acxa is like Mikasa bc of the theories I’ve heard at least of her being Keith’s half sister.
She’s also his adopted sister in this case, she was taken in by him and his mother, Krolia after her parents were found dead and Keith rescued her. Now, she keeps Keith in line and tries to keep him from acting out (it doesn’t always work).
Now, for Armin I had sort of a hard time figuring out who should be him, the obvious choice would be Pidge right? But instead I decided on Hunk, and here’s why. While Hunk is sort of a scaredy cat and extremely cautious, he would do anything for his friends, and that’s been displayed multiple times in Voltron, and Armin displays those same traits, or at least similar ones in his journey with Eren and Mikasa.
***
Now for everyone’s favorite part, when the wall falls.
Keith got into a fight with Krolia, and ran off to see Hunk. Acxa followed and together all three talked about what it’d be like to live outside the walls. No fears or worries of being hunted by titans, just.. finally living.
And in that moment of peace, there’s a big crash and all three children run to the town square, wondering what the hell just happened. There’s a titan there, and before anyone can register what’s going on the wall is kicked in, people are screaming, and titans are entering the city. Suddenly realizing that his mother might be in danger, Keith takes off with Hunk and Acxa close behind. The house is pretty much rubble, having been smashed by a giant piece of debris. Krolia’s trapped, and whilst the trio does their best to free her, its to no avail and soon a titan is approaching them. Krolia tells them to run, and before they know it, they’re being scooped up by a Garrison officer, Adam, who’s been close to the family for years. And Keith and Acxa have to watch as their mom is devoured, and the reality sets in that they aren’t as safe as they thought they were in these walls.
***
Years go by, and at this time our trio is now fifteen, and have joined the military. Keith now had even more motivation to join the Survey Corps, to kill as many titans as he could. Acxa and Hunk followed, because they’ve come so far already and they weren’t going to give up on him now.
On their first day, they meet a bunch of.. interesting, to say the least, people. Lance McClain, Katie and Matt Holt, Allura, Romelle, Nyma, and Rolo. Not to mention the biggest pricks of the cadets, Lotor and his two little cronies, Ezor and Zethrid. Let’s just say Keith did NOT like Lotor, but everyone else he got along with just fine.
Keith was really like everyone’s motivator, even if he didn’t intend it. They all realized where he had come from, where he lived, and realized he must’ve gone through hell and back, and yet he was still here fighting. A bunch of people came up to him saying that they wanted to join the Survey Corps because of him, to which Keith could only respond “thanks? I guess.”
Their first mission really didn’t go off without a hitch, and the Colossal titan showed up again. Titans flooded the city, and it brings back all too painful memories for Keith. These cadets really had no idea what they were doing, and there ended up being a lot of casualties, including Keith but then he finds out he’s a titan shifter and helps save the city
***
But now everyone is wary of Keith, because he’s half titan and titans are bad right? All his friends, save for Hunk and Acxa, don’t know what to think anymore. Flash forward a bit, and the rest of the cadets are given the choice to join the Garrison, the Military Police, or the Survey Corps. Lotor, having been one of the top ten to graduate, was able to join the MPs because fuck everyone else am I right? Matt went off to join the Garrison along with Nyma and Rolo, but everyone else followed in Keith’s footsteps and joined the Survey corps.
There, they meet their commander, Takashi Shirogane, and lieutenant James Griffin (I think that’s what Levi is?) Veronica McClain is their resident genius, and is extremely interested in Keith’s abilities as a titan shifter. James couldn’t care less, but he’s been given orders by Shiro to keep an eye on him, so he sticks him in James’s squad, aka the MFEs.
Ina Leifsdottir
Nadia Rizavi
And Ryan Kinkade.
Keith ends up spending a lot of time with them and learning about them. They’ve been with James since they were cadets, but Ina and James had known each other the longest, having lived in the same city when they were children. They were actually engaged, and set to be married in about a month. They weren’t especially touchy, but it was the little things that you could tell that they were in love.
(And that’s it for now ;> this was getting really long so I’ll make a part two! Get ready for big feels)

Voltron Season 7 thoughts and theories
Well folks I’ve just watched season 7 of Voltron all 13 episodes worth (yes they back on that system) and I must say its been the most adrenaline pumping season of the lot!
To start with episode 1 which was a good way to show the characters life on Earth before the Kerberos mission and how Keith met Shiro in the orphanage. I think what that episode showed was that a lot of people even the teachers were neglecting Keiths potential as they said he was undisciplined for the Garrison but Shiro saw something else in him and got him the chance to prove himself.
What surprised me the most was the fact Shiro had a disease. This was something we didn't know about and he didn't show any sign of illness in past seasons. This compromised his ability to go on the Kerberos mission until Sam made his case and got him on the mission. He also had concerns from his partner which was a good addition to Shiro’s back story as we don’t seem to see him talking about his family much in the show. Adam was right to show concern but was still unsupportive of his boyfriends choice. This shows another side of Shiro’s character when he puts his mind to something he sticks to it no matter the circumstances.
What I found harsh was having Adam killed off during the Galra invasion of Earth that did a blow to Shiro when he returned home, but at least he had the consolation of knowing that Adam died a hero God rest his soul.
I rather found the interactions of the passengers during the road trip rather funny, Allura and the Wolf disagreeing, Corans alphabet singing, Romelle’s curiosity of the red lion just funny its basically road trips in a nutshell. What I found intriguing was that the Paladins had been reported missing for about three years, this was possibly due to what happened after the quintessence field battle with Lotor and after sealing the rift, time must pass differently just like in the Quantum abyss. In that time Zethrid, and Ezor became warlords in the turmoil of the Galra empire after Lotors demise but Axca turned on her fellow generals and decided to help the Coalition which shows what I suspected since her debut in season 2 there was some good in her and Keith helped bring it out. Who knows maybe there is something between them as Ezor said. Then theres Haggar who had her druids find the blades and wipe them out since their operatives were exposed when they allied themselves with Lotor but hopefully Kolivan and Krolia will bring the Blades back into action.
But seeing Krolia leave her son a second time was heart renching, but at least this time Keith was awake for her goodbye.
The game show episode seemed a rather nice touch on the comedy front of the series and having returning characters like Zarkon, Lotor and Morvok was a good twist. What was constant was the Paladins bonding as a team with Keith in charge again since in season 3 they didn't have chance to bond with the lions well since Shiros disappearance into Black’s consciences. So having them without their lions and showing they came together by fate shows how they developed and grown together and the fact they formed Voltron again using their connection.
Then theres Voltrons new found power with the Black and Red Bayards, they didn't ignite the sword but gave Voltron and awesome Jet pack!
Seeing in the few years when Sam arrived on Earth was a good thing to show just like how Keith found his mother whilst the whole Oriande quest was going on. What strikes me is how the admiral wanted to keep what Sam learned under raps but Sam and his wife ended up going behind their backs to show the world of Voltron, The Paladins, The Galra everything he’d learned and Iverson actually stuck up for him which was a surprise given the first episodes.
I found it heartbreaking when the Paladins returned to find their home in ruins, but to see them reunite with their families was the best sight of all, and the fact Keith and Iverson made amends with each other however it seems Griffen may have different opinions given the last time they saw each other Keith kicked his but which in fairness he deserved for talking trash about Keiths parents.
The fact that they built the Atlas to replace the castle was amazing it looked like Skybase and the castle of lions put together, but seeing it integrate the diamond from the Castle of lions helped greatly, but the biggest surprise was that Shiro connected with the Crystal and made the Atlas into Atlas Voltron! IT WAS AMAZING no Vehicle Voltron but still pretty good. However it does mean this is getting awfully close to being more Power Rangers than Voltron.
Some point I knew Sendak and Shiro would have a rematch and how Shiro kept up with his new arm which was amazing showed that the two were evenly matched. In terms of Shiros new arm I think the reason Shiro crashed as they were installing it was because it was rejecting his bio signs with the power source until Allura installed the jewel from her crown into it. Its not as good as the Galra hand but it does pack a punch.
The scene where Keith struck Sendak down with his Bayard was epic though I was expecting him to say “Say hi to Zarkon for us!” That would've been pure greatness. However just when the battles won a new threat comes a Robeast no coffin this time and has the same powers of the Komar device. I have a suspicion that Haggar created that robeast to face Voltron and drain his quintessence but again it failed. I was rather tense at moments in the show such as the Admiral betraying her people just to save the earth which whilst noble was naive as you can't bargain with Sendak. Then there was the moment with the Zaiforge cannons about to destroy earth but the lions and Atlas prevented it.
The ending where everyone from the universe came together to honour those who fell in battle was just what the season finale needed to remember the fallen and to be reunited with their families Hunk especially as the Galra being on Earth and taking his family was hard on him but we got to show Keith show some sympathy for his fellow Paladin. The shock of finding an Altean in the mech was a surprise and could be the subject of season 8.
On that matter what will happen next, with Zarkon, Lotor and Sendak dead that only leaves Haggar and the Druids. Kolivan said that the Altean colony was empty when the Blades arrived most likely since Haggar beat them there thanks to hearing the story from Keith and Krolia through the Clones eyes. What does this mean what is Haggars agenda now? Honestly I gave up guessing her agenda since season 5 in quoting Ezor “Too complicated”
Questions are raised, new discoveries found but for now Earth is saved and the Galaxy Alliance is born better watch out Haggar in quoting Optimus Prime “Leave planet earth alone, because I’m coming for you!” So until Season 8 lets hope its soon LONG LIVE THE DEFENDER OF THE UNIVERSE!

Season 7 Thoughts
Hey there y’all. Bought time I shared what I thought of the new season now that I’ve been able to think through everything. Remember, these are my opinions, so of course y’all don’t have to agree with me. And go ahead and send me whatever you feel like you gotta because of what I said, hate, agreement, whatever. Also, this will not be spoiler free. Let’s goooooooo (Also, apology ahead of time because this is going to be loooooong)
So I personally thought this season was actually really good. I liked the fact that it was split into two different sections - the space trip arc and the saving Earth arc - with a two episode connection between them. To me, it made it a lot easier to follow what was going on while the Voltron crew was making their way back to Earth.
There was a lot of action happening in just the trip back. Having the game show in there definitely broke up the trip, keeping us interested in what was going on. The part where they were left adrift in space got really real, letting us see what the Paladins thought about each other and about being Paladins.
I’ve seen a lot of posts about how Keith and Lance spoke, and the way I see it is that Lance had finally snapped about how Keith had left them for the Blade. It was said that Lance had a void from where Keith had left. Keith was frustrated with everything, and snapped too. I don’t think they were trying to be mean to each other. I think it’s that they got overwhelmed with everything and snapped.
The part where they were captured by Ezor and Zethrid was super interesting! I viewed it as our first canonically LGBTQ+ couple in the show, and it made me really happy to see it. I really loved how as soon as they decided they were going to torture Pidge, Lance shot up to protect her, even if he knew he probably wouldn’t be able to do much. The fact that his first instinct was to charge them makes me really happy.
Axca coming back against Ezor and Zethrid was really shocking. I hadn’t thought she would ever turn against them. I don’t remember if it ever explained why she did, but I really want to know. I know people are freaking out about Keith and Axca now being written as a couple. But honestly? I don’t see that happening. But I guess we’ll see in the next season.
The saving Earth arc was so action packed and so emotional for everyone. I’m glad that James got his chance to redeem himself from the Garrison for Keith (though we only saw him being a jerk at the very beginning of the season, so he may have fixed things with him before hand). The Garrison working with Voltron was literally the coolest thing ever.
Lance and Pidge reuniting with their families got me in the feels. I almost cried during those scenes. The Holt family reunion was so precious, cause Colleen finally got her family back. Lance’s family, oh my god, that was such an amazing reunion. Lance’s niece and nephew calling him Uncle Lance made me smile so much. I got really sad when Hunk couldn’t find his family, but I was proud of him for being so determined to find them that he was able to override his fear.
I was really happy to see Keith making up with Iverson, and then later coming to Hunk to talk to him about his family and offering to help him find them. Keith himself said he was bad at this stuff, but the fact that he was willing to help means that he’s making an attempt to open up (I’m assuming it was because of what had happened while they were stranded in space). I also think this was his way of trying to make up with Hunk about the things he had said earlier on in the season.
I’m really happy we got to see Lance acting like a brother with Veronica. We always knew how important his family was. But it wasn’t until he was willing to die to protect her that we realized just how far he was willing to go to keep them safe. That part had me on the edge of my seat because Red wasn’t responding to him and I was so scared that something bad was going to happen.
I definitely wasn’t ready for Admiral Sanda to betray the Paladins to protect Earth. I know she was doing what she thought was best, but I think if she had listened to what everyone was saying about the Galra, she would’ve realized that the Galra can’t be trusted to keep up their end of deals. And even though this made me hate her, I definitely did not want to see her die. I wanted to see her get a chance to make things right with everyone back on Earth for betraying them.
Psychic connections with the lions?? What?? I knew that the Paladins had to capable of some amazing things in order to gain the trust of them. But I didn’t know they could essentially project their spirits into the and pilot them! Even Shiro didn’t, and he was stuck inside Black for 4 season! I’m so proud of them for being able to do something so amazing!
Okey, but the Atlas essentially turning into Earth’s Voltron because of Shiro? How freaking cool is that!! It makes me wonder if that means that if Voltron goes back into space if Shiro is going to stay on Earth (along with if Hunk, Pidge, and Lance will). Shiro was able to do so much without having a lion this season, it was so amazing. I will admit I thought Sendak was going to kill him if the crystal lightening didn’t, but I’m so glad Keith was able to save him. I was also sobbing during Shiro’s speech because the Paladins were no where to be found and they had been hit with something that should’ve killed them. I thought they had died and I was so heart broken.
I have so many questions about the final robot and the Altean that was found to be piloting it. I have a theory that it’s Haggar’s doing, that she found the Altean colony and, using the knowledge and magic she learned on Oriande, was able to convince them that she was good and that Allura and Voltron are evil. I’m pretty sure Romelle is going to be the only person who will be able to convince them that Haggar is the evil one.
So, now onto the touchy subject - LGBTQ+ Rep. I think even though we all wanted Lance to talk to Shiro about his sexuality and have Shiro and Adam reunite, having what we did is a start. Ezor and Zethrid having an entire episode is absolutely amazing. We’re all assuming they died in the explosion, but it was never confirmed that they did. So while we might think our canon lesbian couple is dead, they may not be, and they may show up in the next season. And if they don’t, the fact that we got it is so amazing.
The Shiro and Adam situation is a very touchy topic. I think killing Adam off was a bad call, but I can make some assumptions as to why they did it. Killing him meant that Shiro had a personal reason (other than saving Earth) to do everything he could to defeat Sendak. I’m really hoping they touch on it in the next season, because Shiro needs a chance to grieve for his boyfriend/fiance. Just because we didn’t get the interactions between them that we wanted doesn’t mean we didn’t get any rep. Shiro himself is our rep, whether it gets focused on or not.
Now onto the most touchy topic - Klance, Allurance, and Kaxca. People are saying that Klance is dead because Axca suddenly shows up and Ezor made a comment about her being in love with him. I really don’t see this as ever happening. I get the vibe that Axca is somehow related to him (maybe she’s Krolia and Kolivan’s child? They seem to be a thing when they’re in Keith’s room)
Allurance is also something I don’t think will happen. It’s been 7 seasons and it’s just now that we’re seeing Allura seeing Lance as more than the goofball he is. I think she’s a little desperate to feel something in her heart again after Lotor, and that she’s seeing Lance as that person who can do this. She knows that Lance has feelings for her, but I don’t think Lance has realized that Allura really isn’t the person he should be with. I think he’s scared to accept that. And then to have her being the way she is might be making him think she really is. I think the next season will let us have more insight into this.
I think Klance still has a really good chance of being a thing. It may not seem like it, but there was a lot of character growth between Keith and Lance. Keith trusts Lance enough to not only have his back during missions, but to lead the team while he went off to do something else, like helping Axca. There was clear concern on Lance’s face when he left, but he trusted Keith, and Keith trusted him.
We were told that Lance would be someone’s first choice, and he was. Remember the game show episode? Keith immediately wrote down Lance. Despite what he said, we all know that’s not the only reason he chose to write down Lance. Lance was Keith’s first choice to lead the team to the lions. He could’ve asked Shiro or Allura or even Krolia. But he chose Lance without a second thought. He called out for Lance first when they were stuck on Sendak’s ship. Lance was, and is, Keith’s first choice.
We may not have gotten Klance like we wanted, but we were far from Queer Baited like everyone seems to think. The show isn’t over. We’ve had two (2) canon queer couples in the show, and there may be more in the next season. Our Rep may not have been shown the way we wanted, but I really don’t think we were Queer Baited. We have another season. We’ll see what we get in terms of Rep.
So, parting thoughts: I actually really enjoyed this season. There was so much action, so many emotional scenes, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had me holding my breath and sitting on the edge of my seat during a lot of scenes. It had a lot of scenes to help us with the sadness and seriousness. This season was a season showing us what war is like, and I think the crew did a phenomenal job at this. I’m very excited to see what the next season will give us.
#heyyo here are my thoughts#if you hate me cause of this then okey#each of us have our own opinions on this season#if you feel the need to argue your points with me go ahead#send me whatever you feel you need to#ill take whatever you throw at me

Regarding Voltron season 7 (2/3)
Now let's talk about the cons
Ohhhh boy
Look , I love Voltron to death and I'm never going to drop it because of some Minor inconveniences , but I gotta be honest with y'all , I didn't expect this season to piss me of as much as it did . Now mind you , I know the cast and crew put a lot of time and effort in to this show and I love them for that , but here are some things I really didn't like about the new season👇🏻:
1.shall we start with the obvious?...nah.we'll save that for the end so we can give it a good fat rant (you know what I'm talking about).for now let's focus on another sin and that is , drum rolls please......Acxa.now I know I talked about her in my pros list and believe me , she IS a positive thing to come out if seson 7 , I just didn't like the way she was handled , I mean c'mon , Keith's love interest?!she deserves better than that and tbh the whole Keith and Axca thing is weird. I can't quite put my finger on it but it feels, wrong.and I really think Axca knows something that we the audience and the paladins don't know about , and that is?a connection to keith. like a real personal connection.now I know I must sound crazy but i can't help thinking that Axca is Keith's sister or something because using her as a love interest for Keith is both unfair to her and totally uncalled for and without any setup, anyway this is taking too long , let's move on to the next sin.
2. I don't know why but I felt like this season was dragging on forever!now don't get me wrong , I love the action , i mean this IS an action show , but I couldn't help feeling bored through the second half of the season , a conflict that logically should have ended in two episodes tops , lasted for like five episodes and at the end it was still rushed!
3.this is probably only me but I felt like shiro was sidelined? Like I know that he's been through a lot and he needs rest but still something felt off without him.
4.Also speaking of shiro , does anyone else HATE his new arm too?I mean it's good that he has a new arm and everything but the way it's detached and keeps floating is really weird and distracting , and besides it's bigger than his other hand for no apparent reason and it's really aesthetically unpleasing.
5. why the quiznaking quiznak would you make krolia leave in the middle of the season?!
6.there is starting to be a lot of giant Voltron-isque robots on this show and I honestly don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing because on hand GIANT ROBOTS BATTLING IT OUT but on the other hand it's like "YOU get a giant robot and YOU get a giant robot , everyone gets a giant robot "
7.matt was under used
8.romelle and Axca just disappeared and than reappeared without any explanation
9: the cliffhanger wasn't that good?! Like yes I like to know where that altean came from but it's not really that important to me?! Nor is it really shocking cuz like we already know there is a colony full of alteans somewhere in space so??!I don't know , this is more of an personal problem for me , the cliffhanger wasn't bad , I was just kinda disappointed.
10. And now arguably the biggest problem with this season and the reason for many people's anger ,,,,,, Adam's death.the funny thing is untill the last few minutes of the last episode I didn't believe that Adam was dead.i firmly believed that he was captured or that he at least crash-landed.when the end credits rolled it hit me that Adam was actually dead and he wasn't coming back.i was really furious.not only I was REALLY looking forward to meeting Adam and having an adashi reunion , I was also shocked that they would advertise Adam and shiro's relationship so much and then kill Adam after five minutes of screen time.to me , Adam's death is the worst thing that has happened in Voltron.now I know that this whole season was about war-mind you this whole series is about war -and there are casualties in war but I can't help thinking that there must have been a better way to handle this and keep Adam alive .They could've even made Adam lose a leg and give him a prosthetic leg like shiro.that way they could've shown other consequences of war besides dying. either way I'm really sad that Adam's time on the show was very short lived and I hope the show can make up for it.somehow.
=end of cons=
#voltron season 7 spoilers#voltron season 7#voltron legendary defender#voltron#vld#vld season 7#ok i didn't say this in the main post#because i wanted my cons to be an even number#but wtf?!?#allura is suddenly interested in lance?!#after six seasons of clearly not liking him?#i don't get it
