It started cuz I just generally ship glisten with anyone (excluding pebble, coal and toodles obvi) cuz I like him and I like exploring his dynamics with everyone BUT MY BRAIN WENT FERAL OVER HIM AND DANDY CUZ OF AN AU I HAVE IN THE WORKS (ill post abt it later when i have more stuff worked out for it)

The general concept is 2 ppl whove got major issues with being ignored (twisted glis not being able to be alone, dandy getting upset when hes ignored at the shop) finding comfort in the other.

Glis and Dandys thing with not being acknowledged/fear of being disliked:

Itd start as a sorta enemies to lovers thing, I do not think theyd like eachother. Glisten would have a parasocial hatred of Dandy for being the star of the show and everything and thinking he deserves the love and attention more, where Dandy just. Does nottt pay attention to him. He doesnt gaf glis is just there. He can do shit. Wtv, dandy has bigger fish to fry

Also in canon Dandy only mentions Glistens teleportation ability as a reason to buy him, with 0 comments on him as a character. Most of the time he does comment on their personalities, the only exceptions being RnD (where he just goes 'Razzle and Dazzle, hehe!' and nothing else), Glisten (he goes 'Glisten? He's pretty handy with that reflection trick of his!' and its just. Onlyyyy his ability being somewhat useful NOTHING ELSE) and Scraps (sorta? He does comment on her talents with 'Scraps is a good choice! She knows how to get out of trouble' but its also like. 'Yea shes skilled at knowing how to deal with things' so it feels more personalized than just 'Ya glis can fuck around with his reflection trick it can be useful'). Even with ppl he clearly doesnt rly like he does actually comment on them as a person

I think how they got close was Glisten locking in and going 'I need to be close to this man bc hes the most important guy and I can use him to make myself more important' and Dandy was just kind of bored and let it happen? I think theyre very quiet abt their relationship, like ppl know theyre friendly with eachother but they dont know that theyre rly close

I think the fact the 2 of them like the other as a person scares them, both bc they cant handle the idea of losing that and bc they hate themselves and cant see why anyone would like them. Glisten tries to make ppl fall in love with the presented, perfected, version of himself and Dandy has resigned himself to ppl not liking him as a person so he just tries to be useful to ppl so he can get what he wants (tapes, aka. memories of better times he can lose himself in) and also if hes useful to ppl theyll stay. They wont leave him like deliah, devan and arthur did. He molds himself to what ppl want from him so he can stay around them a little longer and gets mad when they dont bc thats not how its meant to go. Also to me, both of them distance themselves from ppl in order to prevent them from losing them

So yea, they find someone who gets them, they find someone who understands them and still stays and they find someone who loves them with all their horrible imperfections and they latch onto that. Its pretty codependent imo? Like they are so paranoid of losing the other bc theyre the on sense of stability they have. Idk I just think theyd sit and listen to the other talk abt wtv they want and just feel comforted by them being there, but neither will confront their actual issues and their relationship kinda makes their fear fester a lot more bc now the stakes are so much higher. I dont think its particularly healthy lol, they both need therapy

Also, Glisten needs the light to shine in so everyone sees him and loves him, but it burns him and makes any imperfection highlighted so while he needs it it terrifies him and Dandy has resigned himself to an ignored darkness hes trying to find wtv scraps of comfort in, but with eachother Dandy can provide shade for Glisten to stop preforming in and Glisten can give Dandy the light he has long since accepted hell never have

OKAY NOW ONTO MY YAPPING AND SPITBALLING BELOW THE CUT

first of all the CLOAK. the cloak is actually a necessity. it's a type of padded armor made of thick pressed wool tightly pressed together. not only is it warm, but the way the fibers connect together and work is that it stops piercing blows from swords. it even could stop very early bullets! (not modern day). from what i can tell, this was generally worn over the rest of somebody's armor? it also wasn't exclusively armor. shepherds and whatnot also used it to keep warm, and shield themselves from wind. generally there shouldn't be a hood, but i really wanted the hood. a little feature that stuck w the armor and apparel of briar valley soldiers through the centuries (because general lilia has a hood but no cape/cloak)

it's originated in the caucasus mountains, and is called a nabadi or burka. it was generally made from sheep wool (according to wikipedia, karakul wool which is central asian in origin). it is also a style of clothing customary of males in the caucausus region at that time. at some point, around the 18th century, russia appropriated it and made it apart of their armor (which is why it is also called a burka). you can learn more about the nabadi and padded armor in general here.

something i like to do is put little aspects of myself or my heritage into my characters, which is what i did here lol. i'm half kurdish and according to my father we (as in my clan i think) originated from the caucasus mountains and descended down to where we lived in the middle east (obligatory rip kurdistan).

i thought this form of armor would be quite suitable for emil, because not only does briar valley seem to be a very mountainous region (and mountains are COLD. also from what i can tell briar valley seems to be located quite up north so. extra cold.) additionally, some of the briar valley names just feel a bit. russian. if u will. such as lilia, zigvolt (ignoring the fact they immigrated), vanrouge, etc. also russia and the caucasus region in general? in asia. close to the middle east. which is also mostly in asia. sebek coming from an egyptian god and baul sounding a lot like baal. ik real world geography has no bearing on the cultural influences of the countries in twst, and it's more generally mashing a mix of cultures together, but it makes sense in my head.

so the cloak? 100% an essential and totally canonical to the briar valley region. (i did not expect to brainrot so hard on this part oh my god.)

1) Omg tbh I didn't realise ppl were still reading that one! I'm focusing on PoM rn so I don't think I'll be getting to it anytime soon unfortunately. I do wanna continue it tho, and rewrite some stuff too! My google doc is so big for TMoY that if you wanted, I could totally answer some asks about it. Since I'm focusing on Dove and Wukong rn, I wouldn't mind sharing some secrets about Lian and Macaque's past (I will yap so much abt them, I love Lian she's my sweetheart).

I also took a break from writing that fic because, uhhhhh… I had only seen part of season 4 when I started writing the backstory for Lian, did some research into chinese mythology and legends I could pull from… then after posting a bunch of chapters, I watched the rest and realised I accidentally made her backstory/creation extremely similar to someone else (if you're caught up on the show, you'll know who I'm talking about). They both involve, uh… similar people?? So I got spooked and decided to wait a bit to see if that character's backstory would be like what I'd written for Lian and… it's starts out very similar 💀

But honestly, I think I'm gonna keep it the same cuz I love Lian, and I love the story I've made for her and Macaque. So if you've got any questions abt them, I'd be happy to answer until I shift my focus back onto TMoY.

2) Oh, and… my god. I love this idea of yours. That dream. Hoo boy, that dream. I love it when people understand the sort of angst I wanna put Dove under. Running to her love, knowing what's about to happen but too far to stop it. Maybe if he saw her, if he knew she was coming, maybe he'd still be there. But no matter how much her throat scratches as she screams, no sound is made. No matter how fast she runs, how far she pushes herself, nothing changes.

The Destined One frowns, he's seen her like this on so many nights. There's something that's plaguing her… he just doesn't know what. She shuts him down at any and all moments he has to inquire about her night-terrors. Still, he's found a subtle way to help in the best way he can. After one night where she reached out for him and he let her hand press against his chest, he noticed how she calmed a bit.

That becomes their nightly ritual. Whenever he notices how she starts to mumble in her sleep, shout and cry, he'll cuddle up next to her and hold her in his arms. He'll keep her head pressed against his chest so she can hear his heart– that always calms her down. As long as she has something, her hand or even an ear pressed to his heart, she'll calm down. Maybe the first few nights he started doing this, she'd cuddle up to him a bit. He'd be awkward about it at first, but eventually grow used to it. After a while, he'd find that he actually really enjoys spending those nights with Dove in his arms.

There just IS so much interesting stuff to explore!!! They both purposefully create distance. They both have mean senses of humor. They both drop little hints about their wild backstories and then don't elaborate. They're both a bit world-weary and kind of over trying so hard, except oops, they kept trying, they can't not, they're too fundamentally kind and caring – but they sure aren't nice about it sometimes. But that's fine, because neither of them is exactly big on receiving nice sympathies either.

And then you've got Loop's drama against Odile's deadpan. Loop's lashing out against Odile's protectiveness, but specifically the kind where she's willing to dirty her hands and do the hard thing, and Loop's situation is a very hard thing. Loop the unstoppable force against Odile the immovable object.

Odile says she doesn't care for romantic love, and it's believable to say Loop no longer would, either, after the debacle with Isabeau. It could be so freeing to let go of that painful what-could-have-been by deciding to prioritize a different sort of dynamic entirely! And I think Odile would find Loop sooo interesting.

Silence filled the room. Jake's hand was still holding yours. "Y/n... may I..?"

hello twst tumblr... particularly those who enjoy idiavil... i don't know who to share these ideas with so i have decided to post them here.

the idiavil brainrot is constant. persistent. so is the twst brainrot in general but not a day will go by where i don't think about idiavil at least once. this has caused a whopping 21 different fics ideas to form in my brain. some i like a lot more than others and so i wanted to ramble about my favorites. these may eventually show up on my ao3 (EdgarAllanFruitbowl), possibly posted on here as well, but i'm kind of drowning in school work and just life in general so idk.

ANYWAYS!!! i have a few general fics i wld like to write (arcade date, mutual pining, ghost au) but i honestly have more oddly specific ideas.

first of all, a pokémon fic. i like the idea of them being in the pokémon canon universe, but the idea of a fic where idia just infodumps about pokémon and vil builds a team and they battle eachother... it tickles my brain right. i personally feel like vil would enjoy pokemon but idia would be more into it... i think vil enjoy stuff more like animal crossing and stardew valley. idk i just can't exactly picture him playing pokémon or the legend of zelda and enjoying it like idia would.

NEXT FIC IDEA. this is one of two mutual pining fics i have written down. it's less mutual pining, more idia being idia and vil just isn't sure how to feel about liking idia romantically. very specifically, i got the idea from won't say i'm in love from hercules. i ADORE that song, and it just feels super vil-coded to me. i mostly imagine the "muses" in this situation (basically just the people trying to get vil to stop denying his feelings) would be ortho and epel. epel because he's also in pomefiore (and i also LOVE HIM), and ortho because of the film studies club (but also because he'll have relevance since it's idiavil). ortho wld know about how both parties are interested but he wld keep it a secret. i also think that ortho and epel wld be like their matchmakers... i love ortho and epel as a duo, i think they'd wreak a lot of havoc together. other than that it's kind of basic compared to my other fic ideas but i still love it a lot.

THIRD FIC IDEA. i only recently came up w this one and jotted it down frantically on the bus so i don't rlly have much of a concept yet but an actor au, either stage or like tv actors. i know acting is out of character for idia but he could always be in the tech crew... also its an au i can write him a little ooc if i want.

FINAL FIC IDEA I WILL SHARE FOR THIS POST. I SAVED MY FAVORITE FOR LAST. BAND AU. ok so it's more like a singer/stand alone artist au. i think abt this au so much it's not even funny. i have a ton written down but this post is already long enough so i'll sum it up, if for some reason this idea gains traction i'll post more abt it again. this takes place like one or two years in the future? idkfs yet. idia and vil are both individual artists but enjoy each other's music a lot despite the contrast in style. after a few interviews and messages they end up making a song together, which then turns into a few songs, and oh no now they're in love. i eat breathe sleep this au i don't even know why i haven't started writing for it yet (because i have adhd and school is kicking my ass) . and when he finally defects and fixes his cognitive dissonance, he has the control and strenght to put his hair into a bun, but still lets it flow freely and. to me that’s . a symbol of his conviction. his decision Not to conform anymore :’3 i just love metaphors like that sm…. PAINTING OH GOD. Let's be honest, those interested in building/house renovation are divided into two groups. Technical stuff, aka Charles for example, and decorating. They tried to paint on furniture at least once. And it's pretty!! Hey, carving into wood isn't the only option anymore, furniture can be colorful! Arthur might have a garden bed outside full of herbs for cooking but Charles is the king of indoor plants. Arthur is banned from touching them because he will overwater them and Charles will give him the quiet treatment. The plants are on the couch if people are coming over Charles will grumble about having to move his plants. The gang absolutely believe they miss 1899 camping so much they are trying to make their house look as much like outside as possible. These are not traditional houseplants there are vines and flowers and a homemade hydroponics set-up growing vegetables.

I love that shit it was Sean he was at least self-aware enough to know he'd get in trouble and put it on the window of his trailer/caravan only to be woken up by Bessie who was originally panicked he'd been hurt and then threatened to hurt him herself for putting bloody handprints on the window like she wasn't meant to panic. Still gives her a heart attack when she walks out. Lenny got annoyed he has no talent for drawing meanwhile Arthur successfully covered the whole kitchen window with mock stained glass that makes the house glow with the whole color spectrum when the sun catches it just right.

Mr Poor rancher John Martson is the worst at hoarding road-side furniture, has accidentally brought bed bugs into the house at least once. However Abigail queen of youtube adores fixing up and painting furniture with Arthur's help if she texts he knows it's a solid 50/50 their sons are in jail OR she needs to borrow the soda blaster again. By borrow she needs him to come over and do it she refuses to learn herself she just likes painting. Loves painting. Best in-laws ever fixing up furniture together. Arthur does the fine details like cabinets with birds and plants painted on the side so intricately.

Lenny's murder wall!! When they realize how much easier it is to pin things to walls than it is tents they all absolutely go nuts. Bessie struggles so much not wanting to interrupt them learning they can express themselves and feel stable enough in their new home to put their own personality into it but Sean goes through a phase of putting up take-away menus instead of posters and photos just because colorful. Abigail is so determined to let Jack be a kid she knows her poor boy grew up way too fast and is still trying to act like an adult despite being 19 she wants him to know he's always her baby. He certainly isn't much of a artist anymore but she will frame serviettes he scribbles poetry and song lyrics on to his mortification. Impressionism is definitely better suited to them now that i think abt it but i do think theyd still enjoy liszt and chopin and all yk ^_^ . listen i am still profoundly unequipped to talk about this in any depth. in my uninformed opinon, i think kris has room both for experimental impressionist composers and incredibly overdramatic romantic composers in their life. like even if they get into studying tonal relationships in depth and trying to compose in locrian and do the arrangement with samples taken from susie yelling or whatever, they still would also appreciate something deep and emotional and resonant, and i think they do appreciate bi antisocial composers lmao

i dont think they have a Super strong grasp of general history but i do think their tendencies to "wow they're literally me" would mean they develop a few favs. i maintain that they like monster wendy carlos.
