i think there was a time where he saved her from some bullies in middle school!!! actually it used to be "saved her from being bullied," but since the mob spell development,.., i think the more probable scenario is that mochi tried to help someone else from being bullied (lime didnt care to interfere), but when they turned on her, THEN he stepped in. middle school lime was a bit of a punk so he got into his first REAL fight there. black eye and everything. he won though (mochi high five) and they all got sent to the principles office

that was also the turning point for their friendship pretty much!! because before it was like "ugh the weird girl across the street" / "that jerk who put dirt in my backpack and calls me names" (with an odd sense of camaraderie because its the orders(tm) from the parents that they walk home together and watch out for each other)

but after this event its better between them..,.. mochi thought what he did was cool and starts bringing him sweets from the cat cafe, and limes like "Maybe shes not so bad."

anyway thats when mochi first started to like him!! it was that weird middle school type crush where they seem so cool and you daydream about them being a cool prince and you feel awkward talking to them but still want to be around them as much as possible.

and it just never went away. in fact she tried to ignore it and also didnt tell her mom about it because she knew about the whole witch-love thing, and she didnt want her mom to start separating them (which she definitely would have to prevent mochi having a huge weakness right away)

and obviously over time it got worse. WAY worse when he hit puberty. middle school lime was an average kid. maybe one of those kids that you go "Oh he looks like he'll be cute when he grows up!" but puberty hit him like a fucking TRUCK. got way too tall and handsome way too fast!!! AND with time he also got more and more comfortable with her so he spent more time teasing her. but luckily at the same rate mochi was developing her early witch skills(tm) so she was still good at hiding her feelings (thank god. especially since hed throw in the occasional flirty line to mess with her. a weaker woman would have folded)

and on the side note of the mob spell dipping with mochis shorter skirt: IT DIDNT!!!!!! which is why lime thought he was losing his damn mind!!!!! hes all hot and bothered and no one else seems to give a shit hes like "????? is it just me???" and everyone else is like "is it just you what?"

but i think limes feelings didnt start with the thigh thing, it actually started with the cuddle thing. that time she spent a night or two at his house (first sleepover in forever since tiramisu banned it when they were around 13) and one way or another they fell asleep together, and when lime wakes up to mochi cuddled into his arms hes like "Oh boy....thats not bad actually..." and little did he know admitting that to himself opened a floodgate that he locked shut for years and years

the ‘house on wheels’ steve was designated to drive wasn’t exactly subtle, so it obviously drew attention from the officers guarding the trailer park that night. how were you supposed to explain the reasoning behind such an odd mix of people driving a camper-van? everyone instantly started panicking.

“shit. shit, shit! we’re screwed!” dustin shouted amongst the sound of everyone bickering. you’d caught onto a few things people said, curse words flying through the air while you sat in the front with steve.

“just- just shut up!” steve shouted, pinching his nose in frustration. successful however, as the group stared in silence at the boy.

“holy shit, is that callahan?” max said, leaning forward and squinting slightly towards the tall man with a flashlight walking towards you.

“oh for fucks sake…” steve mumbled under his breath. it was known that officer callahan had a crush on you, he wasn’t one to make it low-key. ever since you guys had a few classes together in high school because of the mixed grades system in place, he’d taken a liking to you. you’d never reciprocated those feelings, and when you’d found steve… well callahan was the least of your concerns.

“oh! oh! [Y/N], you can get us out of this. just, talk to him. he’s going to listen to you he’s like… in love with you or some shit.” eddie chimes in, unhelpfully.

“do i have to?” you reply, turning in your chair to avoid the piercing glow of the torch 10 steps away from steve’s door.

“no time. no choice, please [Y/N].”

you turn to look at steve to gain his approval, but his door is already being opened by the infamous officer. the policeman wasn’t really paying attention until he’d looked up at hearing the sound of your voice bickering with a hidden eddie; still suspect #1.

“you guys do know that this area is— [Y/N]? oh wow uhm, hey. what’re you doing?”

your eyes widen as he recognises you, causing you to turn around slowly and place a smile on your face. “ohmygosh! no way, phil? haven’t seen you in so long sweetheart, what’ve you been up to?” the faux sweet tone you laced your voice with was sickly, but you had no other choice.

he leans his hand on the driver’s side door, shifting his weight to the side. “nothing really, missed your face around here.”

“ahem.” steve cleared his throat loudly, causing the police officer’s head to snap towards him.

“i’ll come round to you, [Y/N]. driver seems a bit angry.”

he slams the door shut and walks around towards the main door on the side of the vehicle. you place your hand on steve’s, comforting him slightly before stepping towards the door and avoiding the mischievous glints reflecting in everyone else’s eyes.

“shut the fuck up, henderson. keep laughing and you’ll blow it.” you pointed towards him, before pulling your shirt down to reveal more of your chest. you’d hiked your skirt up slightly too, hoping your cleavage and thighs were enough to distract the boy outside from asking too many questions.

as soon as you open the door, an instant blush hits callahan’s cheeks. eye-level with your breasts as you slowly walk down the stairs and waving your hips side-to-side slightly, he didn’t know where to look. “are you okay, honey? you look a bit distracted there.”

“oh! yes i’m, fine. you look fine. great! you look great.” he brings his fist to his mouth, coughing into it as your smirk grows. you’d always enjoyed having an affect on people like this, something about it made the blood rush to your head. he dropped the key in his hand, it falling to the floor with a small sound.

“oh! let me get that for you…” you say, leaning down and bending over while looking up at him with sultry eyes. he had a perfect view down your shirt, his stare trained directly to your cleavage.

“phil, babe. eyes up here, yeah?”

“yeah. sorry, sorry. what are you… are you busy tomorrow night?” he’d got the courage to ask.

“mmm, not sure. how come?” you know perfectly how to give off an innocent act, doe eyes looking up at him through your eyelashes and your nail placed between your teeth.

falling back into character, you twirl a strand of your hair in your hand and giggle. “thanks so much, officer. would you be able to let me and a friend or two through to the park, honey? we have a friend there and i’m just…” you fan your face and look up, pretending to fan away tears. “sorry. i’m just so worried about her.”

“hey. don’t cry, i’ll let you through, just this once though.” he places his hand on your face, swiping under your eyes and you could only imagine steve.

“oh! thank you so so much.” you pull him into a hug, making sure he becomes intoxicated by your scent before pulling back. “i’ll meet you tomorrow night. 7 o’clock at the diner, yeah?”

“perfect. so perfect.” he says, looking down towards your chest again.

you leave him with the sound of a sickening giggle before closing the door and leaning against it inside the camper. you feel like you’re going to be sick.

everyone looks at you with wide eyes. “holy shit. you just did that…” “[Y/N]! you fucking genius!” “oh my god, that was perfect. how’re you so good at that?”

you laugh against the door, waiting for the silhouette of the pining officer to disappear before walking back towards your boyfriend in the front seat. you see the small pout placed on his lips, and his fierce grip on the steering wheel; knuckles white with lack of blood flow.

“hey… stevie your hands are gonna hurt. don’t do that—“ you lean towards his hands, but he pulls them away and looks towards the window on his left.

“steve…?” everyone behind you were immersed in their own conversation, mostly quoting things you had said to win the officer over and fawning over your performance too much to pay attention to you and steve right now.

“are you okay? i’m sorry, i didn’t actually mean anything i said to him! i was just—“

“i know.” he scoffs, the harsh sound ringing in your ears.

you only nod in response.

he quickly stepped on the gas, the vehicle jerking back to life as you all go back to eddie’s trailer to go over the plan again. you both sat in silence, on the drive there and when sitting on eddie’s couch.

“for fucks sake steve, stop sulking. the tension coming off you two is literally making my hair frizz, so go somewhere else and sort this shit out.” robin says, quite loudly while pointing towards the both of you. you agree with her, his sulking was unnecessary as you’d already apologised. so what was the issue?

you grab his hand and guide him towards eddie’s small bathroom. leaning against the sink, you look up at him.

“what’s the matter, steve? and don’t lie to me, please. you haven’t let that pout leave your lips since i got back to the van.”

he attempts to pace back and forth in the cramped room, running a hand through his hair before finally focusing on you. he cages you in, hands either side of your hips while he stares at you.

While you’re both somewhat easygoing and hospitable, one would do well not to piss off one or the other because you both come as a package deal and you can kick ass when necessary you just choose not to embarrass Dick like that because you could totally outmatch him.

Don’t ask him that though he’d insist that he’d win.

Best not bring up the first time you met or else the Titans would never let him live it down

But in all seriousness, I see the relationship as rather lighthearted and enjoyable, maybe a bit spontaneous too. Want to go to the beach? Done. Want to kick some ass in Gotham? For sure. It’s like a match made in heaven.

Not to mention that the Titans rather look up to you, which is a definite plus. Not just anyone can date the Dick Grayson.

Wally West

As opposed to popular opinion... I’d think that this is a rather slow relationship. 

Speedsters are more than just familiar with how life just flashes by so I think Wally would like to enjoy the relationship at a slower pace, he wants it to last as long as possible.

With that said, you’re both menaces. His speed combined with your cleverness? No one is safe and the Titans know it.

The best moment of your relationship, although this is debatable, was when you and Wally successfully turned the Titan tower into an all-out prank minefield. Trash cans were covered with plastic, buckets of water places on doorways, even wardrobes were switched.

And all done in ten seconds, impressive. Nothing quite like starting a war in the Tower then grabbing burgers after, right?

Kind of cheesy but I can see you both having frequent movie nights that differ in genre according to month. You both probably rotate on who chooses the movie too.

Overall I think you both have a lot of fun together, if I were to compare the “vibes” to something, I would say a summer relationship (that obviously lasts longer than just a summer) where everything is just living life as it goes

Oh this one’s fun. Donna’s new to this whole “rest of the world” stuff but luckily she has a wonderful partner who’s willing to teach her everything.

A lot of the relationship consists of you explaining things, but it’s kind of endearing despite Donna’s headstrong attitude towards anything

But Donna is also the kind to be open to learning new things, and you’re open to trying new things. It works like clockwork, you’re both young and willing.

Now these “things” can range from baking cookies to extreme mountain climbing so be prepared for anything in this relationship.

Overall I think the Titans see you both as a really cute relationship, one that anyone could be slightly envious of and one that they’re glad that exists

But despite this loving relationship I think you’d both be absolute machines in a battle, I think one thing that is important to Donna is ultimately respect for each other’s abilities, having grown up on Themyscira and all, and maybe that one battle where you absolutely demolished the enemy was when she really caught interest.

Or not. It could’ve also been when you mistakenly ran into one of the glass walls in the tower and she developed a crush over you while you mumbled a series of curses.

This relationship is strongly built on loyalty, so I think you both would be describes as a pair of ride-or-dies who typically tend to lean towards the latter, especially when trying the more extreme things that Donna asked you about.

I feel like this relationship is very classical high school romance, you know?

Like walking to class together, holding each other’s books, stuff like that.

But on the other hand I feel like you’re both a very fun couple to be around, like you know how when you’re with some couples it feels like you’re third wheeling? Not these two. You feel like you’re part of the crew

You guys probably switch between fun couple and parent couple every now and then, I can see the Titans relying on both of you a lot for different things.

You and Victor are definitely the type to play games to determine who buys food, like things as simple as rock-paper-scissors to things as complicated as 8-Ball, and so far you’ve been winning at a ratio of 3:1.

Definitely a very trusting relationship, I feel like you both reach that comfortable stage faster than most, but it feels right, you know? I think you’d both understand that relationships go both ways.

There are probably times where you’re both in a teasing mode too, I think, but they’re mostly light hearted pranks, definitely not anything in the realm of what Wally would do

I kinda want to say that you’re a very active couple in that you both like to go to the gym together and idk take hikes together but at the same time I also want to say that you’re both inclined to stay home and play video games so I guess it’s like a 50/50

Now this one’s interesting, you and Raven are certainly an interesting duo, but the most interesting thing would likely be how you met. Let’s say it involved a blood sacrifice, a bat, and a very old bicycle.

No you weren’t trying to summon her someone else was you just ended up being at the wrong place at the wrong time anyway moving on

You’re both the perfect example of opposites attract for more reasons than just one. 

But what makes it better is that you’re always open and willing to learn and understand many of the things that Raven does and she appreciates it a lot

It goes both ways also! She’s always willing to do whatever you ask her to and you both end up having at least some fun even if it happens to be something she isn’t used to.

Random, but I think a favorite pass time for both of you is simply sitting in her room and reading books, weird, I know, but like there’s something inherently romantic about either of you excitedly showing the other a certain passage you both enjoyed or telling them about your book, it’s just so sweet.

She definitely has a personal bias towards you, obviously, Garfield can say a joke and she’d stare at him with a straight face but you could say the exact same joke probably right after him and she would crack a smile and she probably does that on purpose but it still feels nice

You also may or may not have caught on to her incantations and now you may or may not be able to perform these spells but you haven’t tried because you wouldn’t know how to but it’s just telling of how much time you spent together.

I only mention this because there was an event in which you corrected her incantation and suddenly hell fire appeared which she had to figure out how to get rid of and since then you both mutually agreed to both (a) not tell the Titans and (b) not say incantations out loud

Koriand’r (Starfire)

STOP YOU GUYS ARE SO CUTE anyway you’re definitely both kinds to see beauty in everything

Maybe this relationship is rather dangerous considering you’re both curious people and Kori happens to be able to shoot lasers out of her eyes so maybe you should both be just a little more careful

You’re both probably very doting on both each other and the rest of the Titans and although you’re both well intentioned it has become a case of “oh no there’s two of them” but in like a teasing way

I feel like Kori is very open to sharing a lot of aspects about her culture with you, and you have always found Tamaran culture to be beautiful so it fits

Likewise you share a lot of things about your culture too and you both bond over finding ways to combine them together to make a nice fusion of understandings and it’s all a sweet combination

See a big thing about this relationship if that you both put your everything into it, it is an equal push and equal pull kind of thing where you both love each other with everything that you have and it creates this unbreakable bond that even non-supers have come to acknowledge

Though this also results in the both of you frequently being in your own world even when others are around and that’s something you both promised to fix but yeah...

It’s coming around, don’t worry. You’re both making active efforts but sometimes it just slips your mind and whoops

This is a fun relationship, definitely, and one that’s also very fulfilling.

You’re both definitely an outdoorsy couple, things like hikes, nature walks (which I guess is also a hike but I’ve been told otherwise), trips to the zoo, etc. but this all just builds the relationship

Also a very sweet one! You both have an unlimited amount of energy and love that you’re often expending said energy volunteering somewhere and helping others out

But when it boils down you’re both also very touchy, I think, you both like being together at all times and cuddles are a frequent occurrence but at the will of the other Titans you both do this in privacy

I also feel like this sweetness can also “flip,” so to say. As in if someone messes with either of you in the relationship the other will come running regardless of whether or not they could do anything about it.

To put it short, you both have each other’s back all the time. Literally, like I said you’re both inseparable. 

Despite these I think the relationship would actually be rather lowkey, I don’t think he would be the type to constantly showcase the relationship. I think he’d mention it like once to get it out there but after that he wouldn’t flaunt you around.

I just think that Garfield, even with his usual out and about behavior, is rather modest when it comes to this topic because you’re more to him than just someone to show off, you’re someone who’s important to him and overall he just wants you to be comfortable

If there’s one flaw in this relationship it’s that when you have arguments it’s just horrible, but also rather comedic. Neither of you talk to the other but you both end up still being in the same room together subconsciously. It’s kind of awkward but the coincidences are what makes the other Titans laugh and honestly you both make up within, like, a day or something.

mitsuki: for the record, mitsuki has gut feelings about everything. about her potential, about someone else’s potential for certain tasks, about what will be right for her, & about what will be wrong.

in high school, it made her a mediocre student. academics aren’t right for her. she can handle the material just fine . . . but she never needed to excel at it. she put her interest in other things ( sports, messing around with clay in the school art studio, photography, hiking ) — that sort of thing.

of course, none of that pays much in the long run —- & she doesn’t really care. she cares a little, but she just . . . never anticipated making a career of any of that.

especially not after she broke her ankle as a teenager. the break was bad, but it didn’t require surgery. & at the same time, a member of her volleyball team tore her acl. mitsuki loved the game & competing — but she looked at her injury & her teammate’s & thought that there’s no need to keep beating up her body when there’s so much she enjoys doing. & she doesn’t need sport as a profession to enjoy it to the max.

of course, that sometimes blows up in her face, but —

in high school, mitsuki always shrugged when she was asked what kind of occupation she wanted to pursue. she is charismatic & sometimes cruel & it is easy for her to cast the impression that she wants to give. in high school, she didn’t know what she wanted. the future was not a problem for that moment.

except it was a problem for that moment. she didn’t plan. mitsuki really had faith that a gut feeling would hit her when it needed to.

it did. incidentally, the gut feeling hit right when it was needed. she decided that there’s texture in clothing, that she can do more / feels like she can achieve more when she’s dressed right, wearing one of her favorites when she’s going on a hike or going for an interview or a date . . .

she chooses her clothes for success. & that is a gut feeling that pushed her to

model for the sake of networking, to take internships/assistant where she could to make her way up in industry, to eventually go back for a few classes in business school without pursuing a degree —-

it was a gut feeling. she was right to trust it.

iida: because of that freaking fan art you showed me ( here ) i’m really coming through to say quite specifically that iida had never seen an inhaler until he was seventeen. sihdfgsdf of course i’m not going to make that the end of this headcanon aspect and leave you hanging, but iida has a decent knowledge of first aid. it’s a matter of basic self-care and self-discipline to know the physical limitations & boundaries of the quirk. know thyself . . . & be able to treat thyself. & obviously he knows about asthma, but as an individual who has never personally had asthma ?? inhalers ?? who that?

anyway beyond that, preparation is a bit compulsive with iida. he has tendencies for rumination, for imagining worst case scenarios, & for checking/rechecking behaviors. first-aid & knowing what to do in the worst cases is comforting . . . even if the preparation is for naught when bad things actually happen. it’s a hobby, except it’s not a hobby, except it’s just

aoyama: has legitimately said ‘ some faces are too pretty to have this conversation ‘ to avoid something. they aren’t joking. it’s not that they think themself gorgeous or anything; they’re accustomed to preening & to pomp & circumstance. the act is comforting in that it’s such a thorough facade —— when it comes to their actual appearance, there are instances of dysmorphia, dysphoria, & pieces of dissociation.

aoyama historically has been a very lonely person —- & historically, they are very pro reflective surfaces. & i have a separate headcanon about that which i’ll write separately like a wee lad, but all this to say —- they are kinda used to looking at themselves. it’s a bit of a convoluted experience because they see their reflection & they don’t really stop & think it reflects too much personally about them.

so when they have said things like ‘ some faces are too pretty to have this conversation - ‘ it’s weird because it sounds vain, & it is, & it’s a bit flamboyant. it’s also a way of saying that you are expecting a little too much out of them to have a specific conversation.

it’s an expression of insecurity. they don’t always have confidence they can see things through.

Marinette - Ya’ll already know this girl went on to build herself an entire fucking fashion empire. After defeating hawkmoth and getting with Adrien she goes off to fashion uni and later builds a company from the ground up. Her and adrien get married and have 3 kids. She travels quite a bit for work but it’s cool because that means her and adrien get to visit their friends more often and the kids get to experience all different cultures.

Adrien - After defeating hawkmoth he gets with Mari and realised that he doesn’t have to do shit for his dad anymore. He goes to uni and gets a degree in science-y stuff (i feel like this boy is probably really nerdy we just don’t talk about it). He becomes a researcher for science-y stuff but when he and Mari have their first kid he becomes a stay-at-home dad.

Alya - Once again, we all know this girl is gonna become a reporter. She goes to uni, gets a degree in journalism, and then moves to New York with Nino (her fiancé of 2 years). She becomes a top notch reporter in New York and eventually her and Nino settle down, move back to Paris, and have 2 kids. Obvi she stays in contact with Mari and they meet up whenever they can.

Nino - Mans becomes a Dj. He doesn’t go to uni unlike his friends he in fact gets a internship at a record label company (basically like becca in pitch perfect). When he and Alya move to New York he works in clubs doing Dj shit and he works gigs all over New York.

Luka - Obviously Luka becomes a musician. He starts up a rock band and he hits it big at 19. He never goes to uni and instead chooses to go on tour with the band and they basically become mega famous. He is still in contact with Mari and they meet up whenever they’re in the same country. He gets married in his 30’s to a girl he met on the road. They adopt 2 kids.

Chloe - My girl Chloe finally gets over herself at age like 17. She realises that she’s a bitch and she changes her ways. Her and Sabrina fell out ages ago but she attempts to rekindle their friendship after she sorts her own shit out. She goes to therapy for a lil bit to help her sort out her need to be adored by everyone cause of her parents fucked up marriage. She comes back stronger than ever and she goes on to Uni to get a business degree. She starts off as an assistant at a big company but she slowly works herself up the ladder and becomes CEO at 32. She’s proud of herself. She gets herself a gentle giant of a boyfriend who supports her through her tantrums. They never get married.

Sabrina - Sabrina finally ditched Chloe at 16. She realises her worth and she grows up. She goes to uni and gets a degree in law. She becomes a defence attorney and slowly but surely rekindles her relationship with Chloe. They never go back to being as close as they were. But they keep in contact and meet up for coffee whenever ever they’re free. She lives the single pringle life for a while but eventually settles down with the barista she gets coffee from every morning. They have 1 kid.

Kagami - Kagami is kinda tricky because I can honestly see her becoming an amazing professional fencer and shit but idk whether or not I want her to drop her mother like Adrien did with his dad. If she were to be a fencing champion I imagine she would do it for herself and that she would enjoy it. Her and Adrien would see each other from time to time for a friendly fencing match, and sometimes she would meet up with Adrien and Marinette for coffee but apart from that she wouldn’t really see anyone else much. She accidentally falls in love with her rival and they have an enemies to lovers romance that ends in them married.

Max - He gets a scholarship to a really smart school and becomes a robotics engineer. He sees his mum whenever she’s back from outer space and he stays in contact with Kim and Alix. He never marries cause my mans is aro/ace.

Kim - He gets a sports scholarship and becomes an olympic swimmer. He and that swimmer girl break it off after high school and he doesn’t get into another serious relationship for a while until after uni. He settles down with her after his swimming days are over and they don’t have any kids.

Alix - She goes to uni for art but drops out her 2nd year. She travels for a while, a lot of hitch hiking and couch surfing and she starts up a vlog channel. She goes back to uni in her mid 20’s and gets a degree in art-history. She moves back home with her family and she takes on the museum. She never gets married.

Juleka - My girl gets scouted for modelling after a bunch of pictures of her modelling Mari’s designs when they were in college go viral. She moves out at 17 to go work for a big modelling company. She waits for Rose to finish Uni and then they go around the world for a few years. She becomes a big time model and becomes known for collaborating with Mari. Her and Rose get married in their mid 20’s and they have 2 kids.

Rose - She goes to Uni to get a degree in music. After uni her and Juleka go travelling for Juleka’s work and whilst they’re around Rose writes lyrics in her spare time. Writing is more of a hobby but she does end up writing a few songs for Juleka’s work and for favours and stuff. She never gets very big. They have twins, a boy and a girl.

IM NOT SURE ABOUT MYLENE AND IVAN BUT I CAN IMAGINE THEM OWNING A LIL MUSIC SHOP IN PARIS AND HAVING 4 KIDS.

Hiccanna, Moanida and Jackunzel (and maybe someone else if u want) going on a holiday trip together (it could be sea or lake or just swimming pool).

And that three couples playing "chicken fight game"~ When u have to sit on partner shoulder or ridding piggy-back and knock down or separate the other couple!

Okay SO I recently watched Palm Springs so I’m just imagining The Gang going to like…a fancy pool resort in like Arizona??? SURE LET’S GO WITH THAT

I’m imagining the only resort the gang could afford to stay at is someplace out in the middle of Arizona or something

It takes a LOT of persuading to get Jack to go, because he haaaaates deserts. Rapunzel basically has to beg. Moana finally managed to bribe him with really good homemade ice slushies. (She’s used to making smoothies for Merida, so how hard can slushies be??? Just throw in some ice!)

Rapunzel offers to help Moana with the slushies, since she gave Jack SO many puppy dog eyes to get him to come. Since they’ve got two people working on them, they’re REALLY good slushies. Jack approves.

Anna also tries to convince Elsa to go, but the perpetually-single Elsa is just like “Um, deserts? Sunburns? Being indefinitely stuck with gross couples doing gross couple stuff?!? Yeah no thank you”

Hiccup tries to wake everyone up at like 6 am to go hiking because "that's when the desert iguanas are out guys!!! C'mon, we have to go!!!" Anna is only persuaded to go after Hiccup makes her coffee--she really wants to make her bf happy, but also mornings can suck her dick. Rapunzel is more than happy to go, because she loves mornings anyways!!! And oh my god, IGUANAS!!! Jack, Merida, and Moana are like "oh FUCK no" and put the pillow back over their head, shoo Hiccup away, and go back to sleep.

On their hike, Hiccup just goes "!!!!!!!" about every reptile he sees. Snake, lizard, horny toad, literally anything with scales will send the boy into an excited frenzy. Rapunzel has similar reactions. Anna could not love both of them more.

At one point, they stumble across a gila monster sunbathing, and Rapunzel is overtaken with the unwavering desire to adopt him. She gets Hiccup on board, and he tries to lure the lizard over with a dusty piece of a snake carcass he found (Anna tried to tell him he really shouldn't touch that, but he was not to be swayed and Anna ended up figuring he could just wash his hands really well when they got back). Anna finds herself in the unusual position of having to be the Voice of Reason, having to be like “hey uh I think this might be illegal and stuff??? Also aren't they poisonous???”

(I know what you're thinking. Bold of you to assume Anna knows the difference between poisonous and venomous.)

Rapunzel literally CANNOT stop gushing to Jack about all the wildlife she saw when she gets back! Jackrabbits! Kangaroo rats! Roadrunners! Peccaries! Centipedes! Jack has only mild to moderate interest in desert ecology, but loves hearing his gf gush so he listens attentively anyways. 

Anna and Rapunzel definitely hit up the gift shops in the resort town at some point, and go ABSOLUTELY BATSHIT HOGWILD buying gifts for everyone. They probably max out their credit cards. It's embarrassing, really. But Anna gets Hiccup an absolute shitton of those little wall lizard things and he nearly cries tears of joy when he sees them, so it's all worth it, really.

Moana will not leave the pool like. The entire time. The girl is just obsessed with being in the water, honestly. She gets restless, though, and can't just stand in the pool and vibe--she needs to constantly be moving and swimming around or she'll explode. Merida is more than happy to indulge her by hanging out in the poor with her, but Merida is also constantly challenging her to swim races--a very dumb idea, considering Moana is on the high school swim team and water polo team. Merida, naturally, is an extremely sore loser and is not above excessive pouting, splashing, yelling in angry Scottish, and dunking her girlfriend in revenge. It's at least entertaining for all of their friends to watch.

Jack keeps fucking taking huge buckets of ice from the ice machine and dumping them in the pool. At first he only does this because he keeps griping about the pool not being cold enough (this boy will accept nothing less than sitting in the goddamn arctic ocean), but after her figures out that it pisses off his friends, he takes to pouring said ice directly over their heads. Merida has threatened to murder him several times for this.

Hiccup and Anna's main pool activity is just lazing around on their pool floaties (Anna has a duck one, Hicccup has a dragon one because obviously), sipping cocktails, and just generally vibing. Through some ungodly mixture of pure charisma and a fake ID that Rapunzel helped photoshop, Jack manages to talk his way into getting the whole group access to alcohol. Hiccup is a sangria or Moscow Mule kinda guy while Anna usually gets a Pina Colada or a Sex on the Beach (she's aspec, so she literally will not stop joking about the irony of this). Merida makes a game out of attempting to tip over their floaties and dunk them. Jack, chaos gremlin that he is, puts aside his usual rivalry with Merida to join in. They have a surprisingly strong dunking alliance.

Hiccup and Anna try to form a syndicate of their own, and try to lounge on the same floatie so that they can protect each other while fighting off Jack and Merida together. Unfortunately neither of their floaties were made to hold 2 peoples' weight, so the one they're on ends up tipping over, spilling their cocktails everywhere and dunking them anyways. Jack and Merida consider this a Win By Default.

Moana of course loops everyone into playing water polo at some point. Unfortunately some idiot decided it would be a good idea to let Merida of all people pick the teams, which means of course that they are incredibly rigged. It's Moana, Merida and Anna vs. Jack, Rapunzel, and Hiccup, so basically The Jocks vs. The Nerds (although admittedly Anna is more of a softcore jock--she's nowhere near on Moana or Merida's level, but she's still more naturally athletic than Hiccup, Rapunzel, or Jack). Naturally, Jock Team absolutely whoops Nerd Team's ass. Jack gets salty and demands a rematch. ...Jock Team kicks Nerd Team's ass again.

Throughout all of this, no one thinks to just...rearrange the teams a little. Merida was counting on this. All according to plan.

In the titular chicken game (yes, I remembered, don't worry!), it's Merida on Moana's shoulders (Moana swims and has a lot of upper body strength, what can I say?), Hiccup on Anna's shoulders (I mean...Hiccup's a twig, and Anna HAS to have a fair amount of upper body strength from throwing busts around and punching men off boats and such), and Punz on Jack's shoulders (Jack's pretty lithe and good at keeping his balance while jumping around, so he's their best candidate for not just falling over).

Jack and Rapunzel actually manage to stay in the game longer than anyone expects--their primary strategy is “be good at dodging and staying out of the way while Merida and Hiccup duke it out.” And it works! As limber as Hiccup is, Anna's not nearly as coordinated as Jack and is no match for Moana's sturdy footing. Also, neither Anna nor Hiccup are prepared for how goddamn ruthless and determined to win Merida is. Even though they really, really should have been. I mean...have you met Merida???

When it comes down to Merida-Moana and Rapunzel-Jack, Mer feels a little bad for having to go up against Pure Sweet Punzie. Unfortunately, Rapunzel turns out to be a very hardcore fighter when she puts her mind to it, and Merida is much more evenly matched than she initially thought and realizes she must use her Full Power. It definitely helps her snap out of Going Soft when Jack starts brutally roasting Merida in particular (as per usual). Merida gets a rage-fueled Second Wave, and finally manages to knock Rapunzel over in one foul swoop. Merida and Moana are victorious!

Moana and Merida basically always shower together after a day at the pool. They claim it's because they both know how to handle curly hair in chlorine, and just like to wash each other's hair, but the rest of the gang is pretty sure that's not all that's going on in there.

One day, Anna hits up the resort town alone to buy some kind of secret gifts for her friends with what little money she has left (this girl seriously has no chill when it comes to buying presents).  She goes past this huge, fancy ice cream shop and she's like “!!!! OMG!!! I'm gonna surprise all my buddies with pints of their faves!!!” She just gets super hyped and buys everyone ice cream, getting so caught up in the thrill of it that she forgets that she'll have to like. Drive all this back all the way back to the resort in the rental car. In like. You know. 110+ degree weather.

By the time she gets back to the resort, the ice cream is, of course, goop. Poor Anna, feeling incredibly dumb and like an utter failure of a friend, just kind of bursts into tears. Like damn. This is too much. She was gonna make all her pals so happy, and all for naught! Jack just kinda shrugs and throws all the melted ice cream cartons in the freezer anyways. Once they're (partially) re-frozen, Rapunzel and Moana make slushies with them. They actually come out pretty decent. Anna is substantially cheered up.

Moana prepares some tropical fruit platters for everyone to snack on. Rapunzel tries to “improve” them by adding chocolate sauce and nutella to half of them. Sometimes it works (I mean...bananas and strawberries with chocolate and/or nutella is pretty solid). Other times it just tastes...very weird. Merida gest frustrated and yells at Rapunzel for “ruining all of her girlfriend's good mangoes.”

Jack just thinks this whole thing is so funny, and decides to swap the chocolate sauce with barbecue sauce to cause further chaos. Absolute mayhem ensures. Everyone has a bad time. Except for Anna, who apparently is just a freak who enjoys eating pineapple slices dipped in barbecue sauce.

At some point, Merida gets really drunk on appletinis or some shit and signs the entire group up for a local archery competition. Much to everyone's chagrin, it's no refunds. Naturally, basically everyone sans Merida does terrible. Rapunzel and Hiccup very nearly shoot themselves, while Jack and Anna come very close to  accidentally shooting a group of referees (although Jack might have done this on purpose). Moana gets the farthest, if only because Merida's taught her how to shoot a bow at some point. Merida actually ends up winning--although unfortunately, the prize is $20 and a very cheap plastic trophy (which Merida STILL manages to find a way to break before the trip is even over).

The rest of the group is much more amicable to the concept of going on hikes when said hikes are in the evening. Hiccup and Rapunzel are still excitedly chattering about the local ecosystems the entire time, and Jack and Anna are just kind of looking at their nerdy SOs like “<3 <3 <3″ Moana and Merida, meanwhile, are just kinda vibing in the back, passively listening in and watching the desert sunset.

Rapunzel manages to capture Mer and Mo's interest and gets them to participate more with geology, of all things. Merida just thinks rocks are cool (especially when they can be thrown at people bothering her!), while Moana likes learning about the physical history of places--how water can carve out landscapes, and all that. Hiccup and Jack just kind of exchange a look like “I had no idea that they were into rocks, but...the more you know, I guess???”

Jack makes fun of every reptile they see, mainly to piss Hiccup off. Unfortunately it has the opposite effect, and Hiccup can't help but be entertained--mainly because Jack's insults are so weirdly specific and over-the-top that they loop around to being hilarious. Seriously, he keeps saying shit like “Those are the lamest scales I've ever seen. Absolutely drab, and not nearly shiny enough to prove that nature is beautiful. 0/10.” and “Ohhhh, this fucking rattlesnake think's he's so scary, with his dumb percussion instrument tail!!! I could be more intimidating with a mean look and a large pair of maracas!”

At some point, a bunch of tourists riding donkeys pass them. Anna, Rapunzel, and Merida just absolutely lose their shit fangirling over how cute the donkeys are, thus exposing all three of them as the unabashed Horse Girls they are. Hiccup, Jack, and Moana find this extremely amusing, and definitely aren't above teasing their girlfriends about it. Hiccup asks if next time they take a couples' vacation, the Horse Gang (as Moana insists on nicknaming them) would like to go to a ranch instead.

Anna gets like. Obsessed with palm trees. Like they're just so pretty and exotic and tropical!!! OMG!!! And they definitely don't have them wherever the gang is from in this AU. (Also if griping about Elsa not having "tropical powers" is anything to go by, she DOES canonically like the tropics!) She has to take a picture of like...every palm tree on her phone. And considering the gang is in Arizona, that means Anna is stopping to take a picture like...every 2 minutes. Rapunzel catches onto the fact that Anna likes them, and paints her a picture with some when Punz has the time. Anna definitely cries when she sees it. Hiccup can't do nearly that good, but he does buy her some little plastic figurine ones in a gift shop that she can put in her room. Anna also cries about this. She just cries whenever any of her friends indulge her random fixation on palm trees. Surely she doesn't deserve such niceties!!!

Rapunzel is just. In love with the desert landscape tbh. Like the huge funky cacti!!! The shrubs!!! The desert wildflowers!!! The mesas!!! All of it!!! So of course she needs to pull out her easel and paint it. Jack walks by one day and sees her working on it and, partly just to troll her, he's like “put some snow in it!” As he walks away, Rapunzel just stops like “wait...that'd actually be such a great idea for a surrealist-type fantasy piece!!!” After she finishes the main landscape, she adds an overcoat of little puffs of snow on top of everything, and has some clumps falling off of the cacti. When she shows Jack, he just about cries tears of joy, but frantically tries to hide it. She gives the painting to him as a present at the end of the trip. He hangs that shit front-in-center in his room and cherishes it forever and ever.

At some point, Jack gets the ingenious idea that he's going to prank Merida by catching a tarantula and leaving it in her room. It's one of the harmless ones--Jack fact-checks this by offhandedly asking Hiccup and framing it as a casual interest in local etymology. Still, Merida screams far louder than is at all dignified, and also probably loud enough to wake a neighboring country. Rapunzel later has to physically hold Merida back to keep her from absolutely beating Jack into a pulp. Rapunzel also manages to get the World's Largest Sheet of Cardboard and the World's Largest Cup and somehow manages to get the damn thing back outside.

I didn’t post about everything I played this year, so here’s my opinions on the stuff I played that I didn’t make a rec post for:

Raging Loop 

Raging Loop is one of them twisty meta Zero Escape-y branching-path visual novels where an ensemble cast is trapped in a mysterious circumstance where people are dying gruesomely, and you have to find out what’s happening and stop it by looping a bunch. 

I can’t wholeheartedly recommend it, because... it tries to have its cake and eat it too with the supernatural elements. Clearly magic is real and has important impacts on the scenario, but then other parts are trickery you’re supposed to see through, and it’s entirely uninterested in cluing you in to how that trickery was accomplished. Not exactly a fair play mystery, in that regard- you have to kind of just be along for the ride, rather than try to figure it out.

That said, it’s a good ride- pretty strong character writing, and the central conceit of the Werewolf/Mafia-style murder scenario creates really interesting drama. It’s more concerned with making itself feel clever than letting the player feel clever, but it’s still well-paced and gripping and has a pretty decent resolution.

Detective Grimoire

I recommended Tangle Tower, the sequel, pretty strongly- and this one, while obviously a little rougher around the edges with the art and mechanics (the suspicion tracker system is a total dud; I didn’t even realize it existed until I realized I was missing an achievement for using it), it’s still pretty darn good. Really fun character designs and animations, fully-voiced, and a solid whodunit backing it all. Plus- while the two are more or less self-contained, the continuity threads with Tangle Tower raised some really interesting questions.

Contradiction - the all-video murder mystery

This one was pretty fun, largely on the strength of the actors. The main mechanic of interrogating people on evidence and using their own statements against each other was some good stuff, too. Definitely had that Phoenix Wright quality to the deductions, and Jenks is a really fun character. (Had a few points where progression was just linked to standing in a certain previously-abandoned area of the map where a clue was suddenly there for no reason, there- good thing it had a hint system.)

As a mystery, it could use a little work- most of what you end up finding out is sequel bait (for a sequel that never actually came together, unfortunately), and the actual whodunit is just sort of hiding in the cracks of all that. And... cornering the culprit just sort of happens out of nowhere once you’ve got your hands on the right piece of evidence, without much fanfare. You’re following up on leads like usual, you find a little lie in someone’s testimony, and then- oh, shit, they’re just confessing everything! Unlike all the previous times you questioned them and they were super evasive like everyone else! And then the game is over. 

All in all, it’s pretty meaty and entertaining and I’d recommend it, but unfortunately the creators have moved on to other things, so there’s not going to be any follow-up on the stuff it left unresolved.

Ikenfell

Ikenfell is a tightly-designed RPG about kids at a magic school, with Paper Mario-style action command mechanics and a battle system that makes a big deal out of careful positioning and movement, which was really enjoyable. The difficulty’s a little high (I recommend always always always speccing into max damage because killing things before they kill you is worth more than any amount of defense, speed doesn’t work, and healing is cheap), but I found it really satisfying.

There’s... something... off? About... I don’t know how to put it, it’s... doing that “yes, everyone is queer and mentally ill, deal with it” thing, which, sure, okay. But for a lot of them it’s such a background thing, like... half the playable cast is unambiguously nonbinary, but like... I don’t know if it’s trying to make some statement on how there are no rules to being NB and you can 100% perform a particular binary gender presentation but still count, or if they wrote the whole story and then changed the pronouns of some of the characters for Representation Points, or what. Probably the former? I dunno, it just feels weird. Maybe I’m just not woke enough to Get It.

(unrelatedly: why the heck is the official art they use everywhere so... off-model? none of them look like they do in-game- they look like the creator commissioned someone to draw a group shot with one reference image each and didn’t tell them anything about the characters. how much you wanna bet they commissioned a friend and it came out wrong but they were too polite to say “sorry, no, this is wrong, can you do it over?”)

Trails of Cold Steel IV

Hoo boy. It’s... not great, and it’s not great in a pretty predictable way for an even-numbered entry in the Trails series. It happens every time- first there’s a game in a new engine with new characters and a new world to explore, and it’s really nice and does interesting things... and then it ends on a cliffhanger, and then there’s a sequel game in the same engine with the same characters and the same world, reusing as many assets as possible. Also the League Of Generically Evil Anime Supervillains is there causing trouble for reasons they refuse to explain, and the plot is a storm of magicbabble and macguffin-chasing that makes little to no sense. 

Cold Steel IV is that for Cold Steel III, full stop. Welcome back to all the same places you visited last game, except this time there’s some stupid magic apocalypse happening (not that it stops you from taking the time to do random sidequests constantly, of course). The whole “oh, the evil curse mind controls people and that’s why they do stupid bullshit that’s in no one’s interest” plot point is leaned on super hard, and it’s just a big yawn the whole way through.

It’s still really fun, though, because the battle system remains really well-designed. (The same battle system that was just as fun in Cold Steel III, mind you, but it hasn’t gotten old.) And- though they’re struggling to square it with the dumb mind control apocalypse plot, the NPC dialogue continues to make the world feel believable and lived-in. They don’t slack on the parts that make Trails good- it’s just the parts that make Trails bad are making themselves more evident than ever.

One Step From Eden

OSFE is... uh. It’s fucking hard is what it is. It’s sort of a deckbuilding roguelike, and there’s this combat that takes place on a grid, and- wait, it’s like Mega Man Battle Network, it’s exactly like Mega Man Battle Network. Man, I forgot about that, but the mechanical influence is extremely obvious. It’s MMBN meets Slay the Spire.

Except it’s super duper hard as hell, because unlike MMBN you can’t pause and swap out chips or anything- everything is just always happening so much, all at once, everywhere, and you have no recourse but to git gud and learn all the enemy patterns and the behavior of your own spells and develop the twitch reflexes necessary to not fucking die from all the shit that’s on the screen always.

(What’s the story? Uhhhh, there was some kind of magic apocalypse, and some anime girls are trying to reach a city for some reason that doesn’t really get explained ever. The game doesn’t really care to build its world at all- it’s all mechanics plus a little token character dialogue that doesn’t say much.)

The point is it’s really frickin’ hard but I am an epic pro gamer and I got ALL THE ACHIEVEMENTS, MOTHERFUCKER. If you’ve played it, I expect you to be really god damn impressed with me, okay???

A Short Hike

This one was really relaxing! It’s a platformer where you explore an Animal Crossing-y island of cartoon animal people, collecting mobility upgrades- but like, mainly it’s about straight chillin’. The flight controls are fun and there’s lots of little secrets to find and it’s just a nice time that doesn’t drag on too long. Not too much to say about this one.

Pokémon Sword

Ehhhhh.

I’m not here for the hot takes about how Dexit is good actually. Development hell happened, they had to make cuts for time, I get it. It’s disappointing and makes the game a little bit worse, but it’s not the end of the world.

Apart from that... perfectly serviceable? The Wild Area could’ve used a little more technical polish (as could most things in the game, really) but was a step in the right direction, giving the player a wider array of early-game team-building options than ever before. No HMs is good. Story and characters were kind of nothing, but that’s par for the course. “At least this time they’re not shoehorning in some kind of stupid evil-team-wants-legendary-pokemon-to-destroy-the-world apocalypse plot”, I thought to myself before they managed to shoehorn one in at the last minute with zero buildup- but, hey, beats wasting half the game on it.

It’s nothing special and it’s missing a lot of polish, but its problems are mainly due to being rushed, and presumably next gen they’ll be able to reuse a lot of the models and animations (maybe even improve the animations so they’re not so boring??? a man can dream) and make something interesting. SwSh seem like they were testing the waters for something else, and not taking too many chances in the meantime.

Hades is- oh, who am I kidding? Everyone knows Hades, it’s the game of the year, greatest thing since sliced bread, Supergiant are heroes, yada yada yada. I’ve played almost 300 hours of it and I’ve completed everything except all the Resources Director levels (currently a Sigma Wraith), it’s extremely fun and you don’t need me to tell you that.

Petal Crash

It was that thing the Paranatural creator helped on? It’s, uh. It’s a block-sliding puzzle game thing, sort of in a Puyo Puyo vein. It has fun character designs and some good dialogue, like you’d expect from Zack’s involvement, but it didn’t really leave an impression otherwise (besides how got dang infuriating some of its Turn Trial puzzles can be.) The story is... kinda heartwarming, kinda didactic, kinda childish, not especially deep or interesting. Hard for it to be, when it’s told through little bits of fluffy character dialogue that exist to set up a puzzle battle as quickly as possible. Not super recommended unless you really really like block-sliding puzzles.

Hollow Knight

Man, why’d I sleep on this for so long? It’s a metroidvania platformer with heavy Dark Souls inspiration, in terms of tone and difficulty and death mechanics and environmental storytelling. And it’s... apart from all that, just really good as a game, with tight controls and juicy movement and great animation. Progression is linked as much to mastery as it is to upgrades collected- I found myself in lategame areas facing down things that would’ve killed me ten times over at the start- not because I had the best gear, but because I’d learned the game’s language and understood how to move in ways that wouldn’t get me killed.

(Usually. Sometimes I’d walk into a room and sit on a bench and suddenly there’d be a boss fight and I’d get slaughtered. Ain’t that just the way it goes?)

Anyway, on top of all that it’s just charming as hell, with a really unique and well-realized world full of little bug people. I love how, like, your character is clearly some kind of eldritch abomination, but it’s small and cute and so everyone (besides enemies that attack you on sight because they’re possessed by some kinda evil mold) is like “awww, who’s this little guy? want some help, little guy?”

Okay I found a pdf online of the Angel experiment and started reading it last night when I couldn’t sleep. It turned into less of a list of me complaining and more of a reaction as I relived my life in 6th grade. I’ve got the first four chapters + the prologue so I’ll do 5 chapters at a time. •Well the one thing I can say is that at least Ari is acting like a jealous seven year old.

•Lowkey wish there’d been more time to establish Ari, in hindsight. While we do get his view point in later books, we still really didn’t even get to know much about him. I’m not sure if that was for a reason or just a character who didn’t get developed. I wish there had at least been a name drop or something in the priori chapters like “I’m pretty sure Jeb had a son. Wonder where he went. Oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯”

posting ocs a nearly a year after release? that i’ve been working on since the release? never... here’s my resident evil village oc, Max (she/they), who works at Castle Dimitrescu, where Daniela and Cassandra, very reluctantly, share them. more info under the cut (mostly backstory). 

Max’s paternal grandparents lived in the village with their 2 sons; after their only daughter was born, they decided that fleeing in the middle of night was the best option to ensure their kids would have a good life, despite the high risk of death via lycan. They successfully fled, not without injury, out of Romania. After a few months, the family was able to get to America, where they denounced their Romanian heritage, as to not have connections to the village. Later, Max’s dad, Sorin, meets a mean woman, and they become teen parents.

About 20 years pass, with 6 kids already, Max is born in Raccoon City, the family planning to move soon after her birth. After maternity leave, Max’s mother, who works as a secretary for Umbrella, is offered free “childcare” for the baby. Obviously some unethical science happens, with seemingly no effect. Max grows up with slightly faster healing than the average person (around 5 days for a scrape compared to about 7). Eventually Max accidentally figures out that their grandparents fled Romania, and has questions everyone refuses to answer.

Max goes to university, majoring in veterinary science and minoring in agriculture. She works at her Sorin’s vet clinic and volunteers at animal shelters. Soon before graduating, both paternal grandparents pass, and the family takes care of their things, Max finds a strange box, with an even stranger pendant and a map of Romania in it. After graduating (after a fall semester), deciding to take a break before heading to Veterinary Medical school, Max decides to go on a trip, claiming to “hike across Europe”. Their plan was really to hike to the place on the map that markings seem to point away from. Throughout Romania, they ask strangers if they know anything about the strange pendant, but the response is always the same, “no idea”.

After hiking for days, in a small snowstorm, Max stumbles upon a bloody faced, freezing ginger being strangled by a man with another on the lookout. After saving the girl via bribery, the girl flees, and Max is once again left to their own devices. Later, Max stumbles upon a rundown cabin and after checking the area, decides it's safe enough to spend the night in. Upon opening the door, Max realizes they aren’t alone, as the girl from earlier is curled up, shivering, on a ratty bed. Max, thinking that its probably hypothermia, starts a fire, gives the girl their sweater, basically making sure she can warm up. When the girl is warm enough, Max brings out the pendant and asks her about it; a new response “...go back from whence you came”. Those were the last words of the night, as they both went to sleep. When Max awoke, no sight of the ginger... nor their sweater. 

Max ignores the girls advice.

Other “this universe“ Tidbits:

- Cassandra hunts enough that the Dimitrescus have hunting dogs, 2 caucasian shepherds (Echo & Roxy) and 2 english springer spaniels (Rye & Buckwheat).

- They also have 4 horses, and a Romanian Raven Shepherd Dog that protects them (Flint, Bruno, Tux, Comet, & Corbin).

- Max takes care of these 9 animals, and does gardening/yardwork & chops wood in down time.

- Because of this, and Dani being a flustered chickenshit, Cassandra actually bonds with Max first, not trusting them fully with “her” animals.

- Max has Celiac’s Disease and nearly starved the first few months at the castle.

- Max fences, plays violin, and knits. They are also one of those star war nerds that learns the lightsaber tricks.

- Max is scared of bugs... a very unpleasant trait in her situation.

- Max is best friends with Bela’s maiden, Cecelia, who is obsessed with mushrooms and frogs

Age: 25, looks about as healthy as a lonely apocalypse survivor looks

Occupation: Natallia was a small town police officer before the bombs, and is now a wandering traveler. Her only goal is to find her own group of people to bunk up with for safety, but in the past two years she has had absolutely no luck. She is very much a reluctant lone wolf.

Inventory: Natallia has a large camping rucksack that she had at home, and it contains canned foods that she took from stores, any meat that she cooked and caught herself, a bedroll, ropes and various other small hiking/camping tools. Her main weapon is a machete, and her secondary is a taser, technically her third would be her hunting knife, but she’d rather not use it on a person. The guns she carries are practically useless because she’s too scared to use them and has no clue how. She has a picture of her, her brother, and their older sister in a locket around her neck that she fiercely protects with her life.

Quirks: She has absolutely no idea how to shoot or operate a gun, and they make her nervous.

Natallia really misses eating boxed cake mix, or even homemade cake.

Appearance: Natallia is a small, pale girl who is surprisingly strong despite her height. She has lean muscle, especially from carrying the heavy rucksack for 2 years everyday. She’s kept her hair long, but gives it a trim every now and then with her knife or machete. The ends are choppy, but generally healthy. She keeps her hair tied back most of the time so it doesn’t get tangled too much in the wilderness. She wears her police cargo pants no matter the weather, along with sturdy combat boots and a tank top or t-shirt, whichever is clean. She wears her machete and a dagger displayed obviously on either hip, but the taser is concealed in her pocket. She’s got a few scars from run ins with bandit groups, or just stupid guys that stole her shit. She has a scar across her right cheekbone, a mangled bullet wound on her left side, and more thin scars from cuts and scratches from a mix from the wilderness and attackers. She’s stopped counting.

Personality: Natallia believes that in her solidarity she has sealed off her emotions from the world, however she is in a very vulnerable state. She’s hostile and wary with new people and is very isolated because it’s what she is used to. She desperately wants to trust people but it’s fairly difficult for her to do so, and she also blames herself for things that go wrong very easily. However, she is very much determined to find where she belongs, a community where she can finally feel safe, unlike she has the past few years.

Talents & Abilities: Natallia has become an excellent huntress over the 2 years alone, and can skin an animal like no one’s business. She has to resort to using her machete and carefully making traps to catch her prey, but she’s generally pretty good at it, and since she’s one person, she can make a can of beans and a squirrel last for 2-3 days at the most.

She hasn’t experienced any symptoms of radiation poisoning much to her surprise, and counts her lucky stars.

She’s very adept at using a machete and taser, and prides herself in her ability to hold her own against a max of two grown men.

History: Natallia grew up with her two siblings, Ivan and Katyusha, in a small town. They didn’t have the most money growing up, but they had each other. They were orphaned when Natallia was young, and Katyusha raised Ivan and Natallia with all the love she had. Natallia graduated top of her class at the local high school, and even received a full ride academic scholarship to the local university.

She dropped out sophomore year to help Katyusha out with paying the bills, much to her sister’s dismay. Natallia was able to secure a job at the town’s police station as the secretary; however, she was quickly offered a full time police officer position when the sheriff caught sight of Natallia flipping a full grown man who had stolen her purse. Due to the small town setting and the lack of serious police calls, Natallia was never taught how to use a gun. Protocol dictated that she carry one, but it made her nervous, and the sheriff told her only to use the taser.

The bombing happened when she was 23 years old, and she went to Main Street to try and stop rioting. She was easily overpowered and knocked out. The next few days were hell as a group of evil-minded individuals took over the town. She escaped, and took all she could on her way out.

Natallia is often attacked by bandits because they can easily overpower her and steal her food. This causes her to be very wary of strangers, especially men who are clearly stronger. She has suffered bullet and knife wounds, and the solidarity and paranoia has damaged her instincts. All Natallia wants is to find a group of people she can call a family, and she stop hiding and fighting off bandits.

“Hey, doll,” the familiar voice of Hawkins’ egotistical maniac rang out beside you. You had to suppress an eye roll as you peered around your locker door to give Billy an unamused look.

“Yes, Hargrove?” you questioned, not in the mood for his usual antics. It’d been a bad day. A very, very bad day. You’d been late to school because your dog had decided to run out the front door, and while chasing him, you had fallen and ruined your pants, while also scraping your knee. Not only that, but you walked in late to your Calculus test, and your teacher wasn’t going to allow you to makeup it up unless you stayed after class for an hour and a half, helping her tutor other students tomorrow. Then, you’d forgotten your lunch during the hassle of getting to school. Overall, you were pissed off and angry.

“What happened to your knee? It’s bloody,” Billy stated obviously, his eyes trained on the stained pant leg.

“Why do you give a shit?” you snapped, slamming your locker shut. Unfortunately, when you had whipped your head around to look at him, your hair got caught in the frame of the locker, getting trapped. You cried out in pain, instantly trying to tug your hair free.

“Hey, hey!” Billy called out, trying to get you to stop moving. “Give me the combo, you don’t wanna be walking around with a bald head, gorgeous,” he said sternly, grabbing your hand so you could no longer pull at your (h/c) hair.

“Then what? You break into it later?” you growled, trying to tug at it again, but Billy’s grip was too strong.

“No. Then I take you to the nurse, get you an ice pack and shit for your knee, and you go home,” Billy snapped just as harshly.

For the past month and a half, Billy had been trying his hardest to get you to notice him. Sadly, it had been the wrong attention. Anything he did, you found a way to make it seem horrible. When he brought his grade up in your shared Chemistry class, you accused him of cheating. When you saw him helping Max out at the arcade, you said it was just to ‘pick up chicks’ with the big-brother act. When he offered to drive you home in the rain, you told him he was just gonna force you into his house. But the truth was, Billy was trying his hardest to change. Not just for you, but for himself. He didn’t want a repeat of California. He didn’t want his dad to keep beating him because he couldn’t keep his anger in check. And he just wanted you to see how hard he was trying. But nothing was working, and he was so close to giving up. With everything.

As for you, you wanted nothing more than to believe that Billy Hargrove was changing. That the angry, psychotic teenager was being mellowed out. But you couldn’t, not yet. When Billy had first walked through Hawkins High School, you were captivated. Utterly starstruck. But then you noticed that so was everyone else. Which means if you were ever to get your chance with him, so would the entirety of the high school population, and you didn’t want to be added to a rotation. Then when Steve came to school looking like roadkill, and Billy’s hands bandaged, you told yourself it was never going to happen. But now? Now Billy’s changing. And whenever a good milestone makes its way into his life, he manages to tell you about it. Always you. You caught on quick that Billy was doing it for you, at least partially, and it made your heart swell. You wanted nothing more than to help him. But he needed to do it on his own if it was something that he truly wanted.

“Fuck, okay,” you hissed when you felt the roots of your hair beginning to strain, “13, 2, 43,” you told him. Billy put in the combo quickly, and once the door opened you fell forward. Billy’s arm shot out, keeping you from face-planting the tiled floor. Shutting your locker door, he helped balance you out before retracting his arm. “Thanks.”

“Yeah, of course,” Billy said, hiking his bag over his shoulder. “Now come on, let’s catch the nurse before she leaves for the football field,” Billy told you, putting his hand on the small of your back briefly and leading you to the nurse’s office.

You guys had managed to catch her just in time. She gave you a bag of ice for your head, and ointment, gauze and medical tape for your knee. The blood had longed dried since it all happened that morning, which meant the gash was most definitely infected, and a band-aid would only do more damage. The both of you thanked her and she left, heading to the football field.

“I can clean this on my own,” you informed Billy as he began ripping the packet of the gauze. Billy quirked his eyebrow, eyeing the ice bag on your head, being held on there by your hand.

“Yeah? You’re gonna do all of this one handed?” he questioned, leaning back against the sink, still holding the gauze pad, medical tape, and antibiotic ointment packet. You stared up at him from the medical bed, impatiently tapping your foot on the ground.

“Yes, yes I can. Now give me the damn shit, Hargrove,” you snapped, holding out your free hand. Billy shrugged, knowing it was going to be a disaster, yet handed you the supplies anyways.

You had to rip your pants even more in order to get to the wound. Since you had cleaned it when you got school, it wasn’t too horrible. Bringing the ointment packet to your mouth, you used your teeth to tear it open, gagging when some got on your tongue. You smeared the ointment on your knee, trying not to drop the packet, but groaned when you realized how sticky your hand was.

“Sure you don’t need help there, doll?” Billy snickered, eyeing your frustrated form. You looked up at him quickly and flung the empty packet his way, which he quickly dodged.

“I won’t be able to get the gauze on my knee with my pants on. And I can’t do it one handed,” you growled, keeping your eyes trained on your bloody knee. Billy’s teeth sank into his bottom lip.

“Okay,” he finally said, pushing himself off of the counter. You watched him as he walked over to the nurse’s door, closing it. Your eyes widened in shock while he walked back over to you, kneeling in front of you. “Let’s go, doll. We don’t have much time,” he informed you with a smirk.

You gave him an incredulous look before narrowing your eyes. Letting out a soft string of curse words, you pressed the ice bag to your head with more strength, and unbuttoned your jeans for him. Lifting your hips, Billy was able to pull them down, being careful of your injured knee. He brought the jeans down to your ankles, trying his hardest not to stare directly at your black panties. Billy evened out the ointment on your knee, making sure it covered the wound and the surrounding area. You hissed in pain when he touched the sensitive spot, nearly kicking him.

“I know, I’m sorry,” he apologized halfheartedly, trying to stay focused on the task at hand. Grabbing the gauze pad, he centered it over your knee before unraveling the medical tape and wrapping it around the padz.

Once Billy was certain that the gauze was in place, and wasn’t going to slip around, he looked up. His eyes landed on your own, which were staring down at him intently. You had wiped your fingers off with the wet ice bag, and you were now playing with your bottom lip to keep yourself busy. Billy’s thumb was absent-mindedly running up and down your calf while he looked at you.

“I uh… Thanks, I guess. For your help,” you said quietly, removing the ice bag from your head and placing it beside your thigh.

“Yeah, no problem, (Y/N). You feeling okay?” Billy questioned, noticing your red cheeks. They became even more red at his question, but you nodded.

“Yeah, just um, confused. Yeah, just confused,” you clarified, more for yourself than for him. Billy’s eyebrows furrowed while narrowing his eyes.

“Confused? And why’s that?” Billy asked, his voice barely above a whisper. His hands traveled from the back of your calves, to your thighs, resting there.

“You. You’ve changed, and I don’t know how I feel about it,” you told him, trying to ignore the hands on your thighs.

“I’m trying to be a better person. I’ve been trying for a while, but nobody seems to understand that,” Billy said, his voice cracking at the end. You stared down at him, your hands finally moving on top of his. But you didn’t move them away, instead you ran your finger tips of the ridges of his knuckles and veins.

“I understand. But you have to give me time to fully accept it. You need to prove to me, that this isn’t some act,” you said to him, reaching a hand out to push one of his curls behind his ear. Billy’s eyes widened. You were giving him a chance, you were actually willing to let him prove to you how much he cared now.

“Then let me prove it,” he whispered, bringing his face down to kiss the inner of your thigh. He only placed a small kiss there, not wanting to scare you off. “Please, (Y/N/N), let me show you that I’ve changed. That I’m trying to be better.”

When Billy’s lips touched your inner thigh, your breath hitched from their warmth. His thumbs were slowly dragging along your thigh, from the inside to the out, while he rested his chin on your left thigh. His blue eyes were looking up at you with hope, care, and adoration. There was no malice, lust, or anger in them. Not like there used to be.

“Promise you won’t leave after? That this isn’t a quick fuck, then you never talk to me again? I can’t handle that Billy… I’ve never… I’ve never had sex before, and I don’t want my first time to be horrible,” you told him, keeping your voice strong. Billy moved his hand to hold your own, and squeezed it.

“I promise, doll. Hell, we don’t even have to have sex. I just want to show you how much I care about you, how much I’ve always cared about you,” Billy sighed, kissing the inside of your wrist.  You moved your hand so you could caress the side of his face, slowly nodding your head.

“Okay,” you said softly, giving Billy a small smile. Billy smiled back at you, before bowing his head and kissing at your thighs.

Soft, feather-like kisses made their way up your inner thigh, right before your panty line. He stopped there, before trailing the kisses back down your thighs. Billy moved his hand so it could rest on your hip, hiking up your thin t-shirt, his other hand knocking the ice bag off the bed so he could lay his hand down. The hand that was on your hip, then began pulling the waistband of your underwear down, Billy briefly lifting his head so he could see what he was doing. Zendaya parked her car and glanced sideward at the purposefully run down looking building. She thought back at how she’d ended up here, because, of course, a lifestyle of stripping had never been her first choice. But, as life had shown her, fate tended to throw a curve ball at you from time to time.

She had been the star dancer and athlete in high school and the world was her oyster, no storms in the horizon. She was a shoe in for the best scholarships and grants to the top institutions in the country. But despite her brains and her dancer’s talent, Zendaya’s real selling point was her body. Her first resort had been a retail job. They didn’t require much experience and she fell into the easily accessible death trap of minimum wage. But Tom had been successful in convincing her otherwise. There was just something about her that softened his hard exterior. His face lit up and Harrison just winced knowingly. It was a slippery slope, falling for a girl like Zendaya. She was their employee and their field of work wasn’t exactly the most orthodox.

“Reportin’ for duty, Captain.” Zendaya mock-saluted and Tom chuckled before instructing her of her role for the night. Usually she was just like a waitress, just in more revealing clothes. Her uniform consisted of some daisy dukes and a crop top, nothing too crazy. She’d dance around the club floor as she handed out drinks and took orders. Zendaya spotted one of her closest friends, Laura, on the other side of the room and made her way over. Many of the others were wary of the two pals. They received the most attention and seemingly were favourites of the boss. Jealousy and envy were common tricks of the trade and Zendaya had learnt to ignore it, she was just lucky she had Laura by her side. The two dusted each other’s faces with powder and checked for lipstick on their teeth before heading out onto the floor.

The room was thumping already, suddenly transformed by fluorescent lights and endless chart music. Zendaya could feel the floor move underneath her heels and she made her way to the bar to start passing out drinks. But on her way there, she was stopped by Harrison, the junior partner in the business. She knew he wasn’t the man who called the shots – that was Tom – but she was aware of the power that he still possessed.

“Those are the guys you need to make sure have drinks on them always.” Harrison slyly ushered towards a group of men that sat in the corner. “We’re meant to be doing serious business with them and it seems Mr Chmerkovskiy over there has his eyes on you.” Zendaya glanced over and noticed the older man eyeing her up and down hungrily. She gulped audibly, a jittery sensation filling her, before Harrison grumbled lowly in her ear. “Do not disappoint tonight, Zendaya. Do whatever it takes to make him happy-“

“But Tom-“ Harrison’s strange emphasis on do made Zendaya’s skin crawl. Tom had told her she shouldn’t do anything she wasn’t comfortable with and frankly, even from a distance, this guy was giving her the wrong vibe.

“I don’t care what Tom thinks, it’s finally time for you to do start doing your job.” Zendaya couldn’t stop herself from nodding helplessly; not wanting to anger one of the men who paid for her survival. With a small (and scared) smile in his direction, Zendaya grabbed at a tray of drinks and made her way over to the older men.

They were laughing when she was in their proximity, but it died down quickly once they spotted the leggy beauty. Val’s eyes trailed her body leisurely, pausing momentarily on the jut of her hips and the hint of cleavage that her shirt exposed.

Sure, she worked at a strip joint, but she’d never actually done anything. Tom took one glance at a scantily clad Zendaya, threw his smart jacket at her before pummelling Val in the face. Val’s men tried to jump in, but they were outnumbered; they were in a Holland establishment after all. Within seconds, Tom had an extensive amount of security at his defence.

“Get the fuck out.” This time, it wasn’t a request. After ensuring that he had his temper in check, Chmerkovskiy and his men were being pushed out of the club by security. And, Tom didn’t even have to watch them do it successfully, he trusted his men and as soon as they were out of his sight of vision, all he could focus on was Zendaya.

She wasn’t much of a panicked person, never had been, but there was a fear in her eyes that Tom had only witnessed a handful of times. With no utterance between them, he swiftly pulled her body into his own, clinging to her for dear life. “Harrison said-“

“Harrison said what?” Tom pulled away from Zendaya suddenly, his hands resting upon her shoulders. She looked scared by his outburst and he leaned forward to kiss her gently before speaking again. “Come ‘ere.” He wrapped his jacket round her slim frame before directing her back towards the bar where his best friend and partner sat.

“You know you just cost us thousands-“ Before Haz could continue, Tom was a ramming a fist into his face. Tom and his brothers, Sam, Harry and Paddy, were the majority share holders in the business. It had only been a few years since Harrison had joined the team and regardless, his authority acquainted to virtually nothing in comparison to the Holland brothers’. Haz was a part of the family, yes, and they’d decided that he needed some responsibility in the business but Tom had made one thing absolutely clear, Zendaya was off limits.

“I told you, you don’t give me or, her, orders.” Tom jabbed a finger at his friend and then at Zendaya.

“What the fuck, bro, are you seriously doing this right now?”

Tom just ignored Harrison as he continued to yell after him. With his hand tightly secured around Zendaya’s wrist, he was tugging her towards his office. She wordlessly followed, her heels tapping rhythmically to the beat that was still emanating throughout the club floor.

“Tom, what are you-“ As soon as he had her in his office, he was pushing her up against the door. His jacket fell to the floor, exposing her body to him openly. Penelope Got Mrs. Butts, I don’t think I knew yet last time I wrote on this.  Well school is going great for all three kids!  Penny is bringing home all 100% on pretty much everything her grades are all 100% of 98% haha, her teacher always tells me how sweet she is to everyone and friends with everyone!  Max’s work definitely got more difficult this year but he is doing fantastic with it!  He went head first into multiplication and division, he is learning cursive which he is soo much better at than his regular handwriting.  He is reading chapter books in one sitting just for fun at home all the time.  We just got his reportcard yesterday too and he has all high A’s!  So proud:) Lily teacher Mrs. Soto tells be weekly how much she loves lily and her little personality.  She says she is super helpful in class and friends with everyone.  She got her test results back and is well above average and got all 1′s on her report card, which is the best you can do in kindergarten.  I’m so happy they they are all getting to go to school in person and they are all doing so well.  It has been a crazy year no doubt and I’m grateful that they are getting a little bit of normalcy back in their life.

I’m not sure if I put it on her before but the girls started ballet too which has been great, they are going to have a recital in May which I am overwhelmingly excited to get to see :)  They wanted to start girl scouts but none of the troops around here are doing anything so it was easier to just skip it this year.  Max is doing scouts again, we moved him to another troop in Owasso and his best friend Mateo joined the new troop too!  It worked out super well they are actually doing things!  We went camping with them just a couple weekends ago and the weather was perfect.  They got to shoot bb guns, bow and arrows, and sling shots!  We went on a hike, and they even did a random plank contest which Penny won after 5 minutes!  We were all a little impressed with her abilities!

Rob started school virtual but they ended up switching back after 2 weeks or so.  Now he has some kids still doing virtual and some in class so he is having to keep up with both which has been a lot of extra work for him.  He seems to be managing alright though.

Max’s birthday party was last weekend!  He is turning 9 in two days!  How did that happen his last year in single digits, I’m not even ok with that.  We did a campout in the back yard.  We had 9 boys here!  Ended up only having 6 stay the night but it was really great.  They made rockets and shot them off in the back yard and Rob brought home his sling shot and they shot tennis balls with it.  We did a campfire obviously and roasted smores and we even watched Onward on the projector outside on the shed.  It was a super great party! 

So what else is going on around here, I’m kid free 7 hours a day 5 days a week.  That happened.  Which is crazy, awesome, nice, sad, but really I’m just about as busy as I always have been.  I just accomplish more because I don’t have to stop ever now and again to help someone.  I’m trying to get a few smaller projects and what not done around the house.  I still feel like there isn’t enough time in the day but I’m so very much thankful that I get to do what I do everyday so we can just have evenings filled with hanging out and not cleaning and running errands. Today I’ve been working on the garden, the weather has been wonderful lately so I’m trying to get the garden kid of cleaned up for next year.  Currently I’m spreading out the strawberry pants because they are getting too over crowded to the point they wont produce much fruit next year.  We haven’t had out first freeze yet this year but all I have left still growing is watermelon, bell pepper, jalapeno, and banana pepper plants.  Plus one random tomato plant which is doing fantastic. 

It is almost election day and I’m a total mess about it.  They are currently questioning the next supreme court justice to fill RGB’s spot before the election which will make the court 6 - 3 republican.  It is all a little overwhelming.  I have hope that Biden will pull out a win and the Nation can get some of its dignity back but I don’t know if I will be surprised at this point if Trump wins again.  A lot of people have already voted due to covid they are voting online but I’m going to wait until November 3rd and vote in person.  I feel like I need to see my vote being counted. November 3rd could be a really happy day, or not...we will just have to wait and see.

On the note of covid we have had 215000 people die in the United States since March.  It seems to be getting worse everywhere but no one is stopping doing anything.  I mean including me, we just had 9 boys over here for a birthday party last week.  Masks are required in most stores and and buildings, parks and what not are open, (except the new zoo park) :( My uncle got it but he is fine now, I know Rob has had a lot of students who have had it and recovered, I still don’t really know anyone who has died from it other than my moms neighbors in Claremore.  Disney world still isn’t back open like normal and I’m currently trying to think of a back up plan for next year just incase we decide to try something different. My grandma has canceled Christmas and Thanksgiving so that is kind of a bummer, but I think it was the right call.  I am curious what they are going to do with Mall Santa...will the kids get to sit on his lap and tell him what they want?  Maybe we will just have to write letters this year.  Weird times we are living in.

I started a fitness journey, I have stayed relatively the same weight since before I had kids.  It has been work to stay at that point but I’ve always tried to lose weight and finally get into good shape that I can be proud of.  Well I finally have made some progress, although it has been drastically slower than I would have ever imagined but still I am moving forward everyday and proud of my accomplishments.  I went from 120 to 112.2 in the past 6 weeks.  My goal is to get between 100 and 105 by Christmas.  I think I can do it it isn’t even Halloween yet.  Hopefully next time I post on this I have more good news and not “welp that didn’t last long” haha!

Day 54 - Xiprian - San Juan La Laguna - San Pedro, Guatemala

Who doesnt love a 3am start!

1. For the final day of hiking we were treated to a 3am wakeup call. This was so we'd make it to the edge top of Lake Atitlan before sunrise. I had doubled up on melatonin the night before so while it wasn't a long sleep it was an amazingly deep sleep. The walk pre sunrise was relatively light. We spent about 20 minutes walking roadside (it was pitch black for the first portion, no street lights in the back parts of Guatemala) but then we hit street lights and eventually veered off road back into nature. Here it was so dark. We'd been told we didn't need headlamps as they had them. Dumbest advise ever. There's 12 of us and the guides were far apart. Most of us ended up using phone torches but given I'm a muppet who falls it would've been nicer to have my headlamp and my hands free. Once we made it to the mirador we chilled out waiting for the sun to rise. While we sat over the lake breakfast was prepared as well for us. It was slightly lighter than it was meant to be because the night before 2 people departed early due to feeling unwell and accidentally took some of the communal food with them. I dont usually eat at 5am so banana bread and peanut butter with a tea was good for me. The sunrise, while distorted by clouds slightly was beautiful. Nature is pretty cool, looking out over a lake surrounded by volcanoes (with one even erupting!). Every day on this trip have been amazing but it's awesome to get these extra reminders.

2. The last portion of the hike was all downhill. For me this was actually really challenging to navigate on my ankles without falling. I was going at a snail's pace down the skinny rocky path. At this point we had both the guides and tourist police. The hills of Lake Antigua are known to have lots of muggings of tourists so the tourist police hike the final portion down to keep us safe. Given the hike goes twice a week down this part this makes sense as otherwise yiur easily get repeat customers/offenders. There was another mirador we hit just above San juan as well. At about 8am the hike was done and we were in San Juan! While we finish in San Pedro, the final stint is on the back of a pick up truck. We chilled at San Juan for a couple of hours at a coffee shop. I opted for a smoothie, it was so good knowing I now have a week in one spot and I could really relax. Plus do laundry!

3. At 11am a pick up came and we all hopped on the back. Only the safest way to travel! It's only a short journey to San Pedro and we made it to the lunch spot of the lake. It was so hot and all I wanted to do was swim so I quickly popped my togs on and jumped in the water. Concious the lake doesn't drain I was careful not to drink any of it in. With the sun so bright and high in the sky it was heaven to move between the lake and the dock in the sun! At 12.30pm or so lunch was served and with that the trek was over! Our main bags arrived back and we all busily moved our stuff out of our tramping packs to normal ones and vice versa. Quickly going through everything I am.so excited about getting a laundry this week!

4. My new school is on the water and just 2 minutes from where we'd been so I walked along with everything ready for the next venture. Its called Community Spanish School. The reviews online were what sold it. I was so impressed on arrival. Last week when I arrived in Xela on Sunday the principal was incredible brief and it wasn't personal (weird because his emails had been the best of all the schools I'd emailed). While my emails to this school weren't anything to write home about (haha!) Luis was so welcoming and really took me for a tour. It's a small school, with only 9 desks so it would be max 10-15 students at a time, about 10 when I arrived (across morning and afternoon). The setting itself is phenomenal. Very happy to be by the water and in the sunshine again. Rosa the mother of the family I'm moving in with then came and walked me home from school. It's just under 10 minutes away up a mildly steep hill. Once back at the house she gave me a wee tour. Its aa really nice place! Would easily just be any older style home in NZ. My bedroom has a double bed, desk and wardrobe. After dropping off my stuff we went up onto the roof. Here she took me through the running of having people. At first it seemed very planned and less relaxed but then I realized its what's needed to have a smooth running ship when so many people come in/out of your house. She asked me what I wanted to drink at meals (agua/water) which turns out wasn't the done thing in this house! So instead dinner and breakfast would be tea (te) and lunch would be fresh fruit juice. And my fresh fruit juice I mean she goes to the markets every day, buys fruit and blends it with water! I said I was vegetarian but everything else (non meat) was ok. She then listed all these vegetables that other people maybe dont like which I was so surprised about but said nope they're all ok! She was so friendly.

5. I decided after my wee hike I deserved to treat myself and went and got a pedicure! My entire trip is obviously me 'treating myself' but this was probably one of the first times for neither food or an activity. So nice to sit back and relax. Also my toe nails had been looking pretty dire from the 20cent polish I purchased baxk in Merida! Then I went back to the house where I met sebastian (San Pedro Dad), Rosa (Mum Rosa's niece and her 5 month old baby) and eventually Alex and Evan R/S's sons. This family makes you feel so welcome! There are also 4 other homestays but all leaving within the week. There is no English in the house so everyone is speaking Spanish! I speak words more than sentances if I can chip in. It was at dinner this night that I realised I could be in for a treat of a week! Rosa cooks like no tomorrow! Such an upgrade from the bread and beans of the week before. Although food from trek I might miss! Following dinner I caught up with a few of the people from the trek for a wee beverage and was home 11pm for sleep before my next day at school!
