(Oh, yeah. And here's Nagito hating the British)
Nagito leaned into his chair, cigarette in hand. He inhaled the smoke and then exhaled. "I always hated the British, Hajime." He started. "Queen Elizabeth…she broke into my home and killed my parents–"
"Weren't your parents killed in a plane crash?"
"Shut the fuck up, Hajime, I'm monologing. Now where was I?" He leaned back into his chair. "She took all my riches and I was living on the streets. Until I met my super cool Scottish dad." He inhaled the smoke from his cigarette. "He took me in and fed me whisky–"
"You're not supposed to feed your kid whisky–"
"SHUT THE FUCK UP, HAJIME!" Nagito yelled as he took a puff of his cigarette. "And then one day, Hajime…I found out the Queen died. I flew to England," Nagito inhaled the smoke from his cigarette, "and played my bagpipes in front of Buckingham Palace."
"What the fuck are you talking about, Nagito?"
"SHUT THE FUCK, HAJIME!"
"No, he's right. Continue, Nagito." Gundham spoke, appearing out of nowhere with his Four Dark Devas of Destruction on his shoulders. Sonia walked into the room, sipping on something from her tea cup. "My, this cup of tea from England is quite eloquent!" She said merrily.
The three boys in the room turned to her. Nagito, seething with rage lundged at her, "THE BRITISH!!" He screamed at her.
Hajime tried to grab a hold of Nagito's jacket, "GUNDHAM, HELP ME!!"
Gundham, with his Dark Devas, sipping hot chocolate said, "No, she likes the British."
Monokuma appeared out of the ground, "Now, now, let's not fight! Especially with witnesses around!" He said with his usual grin. "MONOKUMA, SHE LIKES THE BRITISH!!!" Nagito yelled.
"Well, if she likes the British, have at it!" Monokuma let Nagito go and he continued to strangle the princess. "Monokuma, you can't let him do that!" Monomi argued. "She likes the British, Monomi!" Monokuma said. "SHE LIKES THE WHAT?!" Monomi went quiet, then spoke up, "Let him continue, I saw nothing! Love love! Except for Sonia!" Monomi said before leaving.
After Nagito was done strangling her, he screamed, "DOWN WITH THE BRITISH!!!" Then proceeded to pull out his bagpipes and started playing them. Gundham also made drums appear and started playing them with Nagito.
Hajime just watched, despair coursing through his mind as he saw his insane friends just do this…
Monokuma danced on top of Sonia's body as the two played. He'd later have to make an announcement about the dead body, but for now. He'll celebrate with his students. "Down with the British, Kids!" Monokuma said.

Do you remember anything in your remnant days?
'Well... I did remember 2 more things before I sided with Junko...'
'I remember I was given a chance to vent out at my teacher for everything she did, my parents found out and then April 1st, 2013...'
'That's the day when Yukio died and we all became Ultimate Despair.'
...
...
...
Date: December 29th, 2011
Okay now Ibuki it's your turn, time to vent at our teacher for how she treated you.
I'm sure you got quite a bit to say, correct now go for it?
Well...I guess it's Ibuki's turn to let out how she feels, huh?
Honestly... I really didn't know what to do or say but looking at you now, makes me question why I was so scared of you.
Lo-Look Ibuki, I wasn't trying to do anything! I swear I was just following what the staff told me!
And yet you force us to follow these ridiculous rules and deny those like Nekomaru and Nagito to get help, right?! You really are a shitty teacher and I'm more pissed that I didn't tell you off!
I really thought I was going to attend Hope's Peak to get my music out there, to perform and create but all that's happen was that I was force to perform music that I was tired off and even grew to hate.
I mean seriously, your like the worse teacher and honestly you should of been fired since your crappy at your job too!
At least when I drop out, I don't have to see you again anymore and can have my own future without this damn school proving anything! So how about you screw up and learn to be a better teacher!
...
Honestly... I think I'm done here, I'm sure the others got more reasons to be pissed off but I just want to get away from you.
So yeah, see ya teach! I'll let the others take the floor, hope you enjoy getting yell at and given the 'reason you suck' speech!
...
...
...
*Ibuki as in the girl's bathroom as on the phone*
So... I guess you and dad saw the video, right?
------------------------------------------------------------------
I...I did, Ibuki is... is this all true...?!
------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, it...it is, that teacher told me to not perform scream-o and just drop out but I didn't want to...
But yeah mom, you were right... this school was not good and honestly I should of jut listen to you, I think the only thing I regret is enrolling here...
------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah... honestly Ibuki, I was worried you going to this school since I know how they get; they'll force you to not perform the music you want or change it's pretty stagnated and never want change.
But don't worry, you shouldn't let that school defy you, you can create your own future and find a better path... just remember that.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Heh, don't worry mom - I totally get it and I plan to drop out with the rest of the class too!
So yeah mom, see ya later!
*CLICK*
Man... and here I thought I was going to get the 'I told you so' rant from her well, at least I learn my lesson.
Now that I got that out of my system, time to go and meet the others!
*Ibuki walk out and headed back to Class*

The Ultimate Asshole
Nagito x GN reader x slight Hajime
Angsty Themes/Fluff
Non-Despair AU/School AU
TWs: Brief mentions of death, Nagito being an asshole
Alright, boom. HERE WE GO.
Part 1
You know… it’s hard to appreciate a talent when it basically leads to someone’s death.
…
Especially if that someone was someone close.
Heh… It’s ironic, I’m supposed to be the Ultimate Tactician aren’t I? But I failed to protect someone close to me.
My brother was a leading detective. In this particular case however, he entrusted me to lead him to the perpetrators. Of course… things tend to not turn out as easy as you would want them to in life. As in this case, my brother, and best friend died due to me trying to help him. Call me dramatic but, I can’t help but feel to blame.
In fact, I’ve always felt outcasted due to my talent.
“Why are you always serious?!”
“Sheesh! Can’t take a joke?”
“You’re a freak!”
Of course, petty name calling thrown my way as a child never bothered me, but when you’re being isolated for a different mindset then others, it tends to get lonely. Expectations are always high for me, and time and time again I feel used for my talent, and yet… it seems nobody is satisfied.
Why am I saying all this? Well, it’s because my parents want me to apply for Hope’s Peak academy. Well, wanted to at least, because now, I refuse to be recognized for my talent alone. After all, I seem to fail everyone I try to aid when using it. At least their backlash was minimal. After their son’s death, they seem to lose their sass recently.
But… they didn’t give up there.
They’ve enrolled me to Hope’s Peak Academy’s Reserve Course, due to my refusal to use or make my talent known. A course for students who pay their way in through an entrance exam.
~~~
That leaves me now. And to say the least I don’t have many to call friends. Most I’m friendly with, but there’s two individuals in particular. Natsumi Kuzuryu, she’s crude, and tends to brag over her brother’s status as a Main Course student. However when she warms up to you, and vise versa, she can actually be pleasant to be around.
And… Hajime Hinata. My closest friend, he’s the only one who knows that I secretly have an Ultimate Talent. And knows why I discard it. It’s limited due to the fact that “I have a talent,” according to him, but I feel like we’re very similar, but at the same time, different. He tends to look up to me due to my talent, and downgrades himself at times, to that I tell him off. Personally, I truly believe that talent doesn’t define a person.
Despite how blunt or dense he can be, I really care about him. He’s been there for me ever since I enrolled to Hope’s Peak last year, and despite my life changing then, him alone has made it a lot better. Seriously, I wished the guy held a bit more self value about himself…
The two of us walked to our dorms as we talked and laughed.
“Seriously Hajime? You finally have free-time for once? That’s a huge surprise for once.” It was, he seems to always be busy, despite us both being Reverse Course students, it seems I tend to have more free-time then the guy.
“Heh… yeah. To be fair (Name) you actually have an Ultimate Talent regarding brainpower.” He grinned.
“Well then Hajime, why don’t we hang tomorrow? I did ask Natsumi but she went on a rant about how she’s “doing something right now” cursed a bit and… hung up.”
Hajime rolled his eyes. “Sounds like her, but yeah, also, there’s someone I’d like you to meet when we hang tomorrow, I think you’ll like her.”
“Oh? Am I hearing things right? HAJIME made a new friend?”
“Oh, shut up (Name).”
I laughed, I really am surprised though, not because I think he lacks the likability to make a new friend, but his social skill? Er… I can’t help but be shocked… although, I can’t really say anything.
“I’m just kidding Hajime, no need to make that face. But I can’t wait to see your new friend.”
“Yeah, me neither.” He smiled
As we reached our dorms we bid each other goodbye. Hajime made a friend hm? I can’t wait to meet her.
~~~
Hajime’s text told me to meet them at the fountain.
And not surprisingly… I was running late.
Kind of overslept, but can you blame me? It’s the weekend after all. Because of this I was sprinting towards the fountain. And tripped… over a person?
Quickly recovering I look at who I tripped over.
There I see a boy in a main course uniform, face down on the campus pavement. He’s tall, pale, and has wild white curls.
My eyes widen as I raced over to him.
“Hey?! Are you okay?”
Said boy slowly lifted his head up to look at me. He seemed to be dazed, his grey eyes unfocused. I inspected his face and found that besides minimal bruising, he seemed to be okay. When he seemed to focus again his eyes narrowed upon seeing my uniform.
“Are… you okay?” As I bent down to lend a hand to him, he seemed to narrow his eyes even more. Staring at it as if it was the most putrid thing he had even laid eyes on.
“As if my luck couldn’t be worse…” He muttered. Discarding my offer to help he stood himself up. Still looking at me with pure disgust.
“Erm… your face seems to be a bit busted, do you need any help?” Okay… hopefully this guy isn’t too much of a dick upon me trying to be nice… he already seems to be on a man period right now.
He chuckled. A chuckle full of poison. “You think I’d accept help from a Reserve Course like you?” He spat. “Nothing but filth. Filth who will never live up to the name of Ultimates. Believing they can compare to the shining hopes of them, it’s laughable. All of you Reserve are nothing but scum, scum that is a laughingstock.”
This guy… yeah he’s crazy. And he’s also an asshole. “What the… the fuck is your problem… is every Main Course student as arrogant as you?” Maybe it’s a good thing that I gave up on my talent…
He laughed, and looked down. “Of course, I would never compare myself to them. Their brilliant talents… compared to mine… haha… what a useless talent.” He looked up with a menacing stare full of venom, “But at least I have a talent, and I know where I stand compared to the Ultimates, a stepping stone, unlike you useless Reserves who think you’ll ever amount to the likes of them.”
Having about enough of this guy, I turned away. I was already late enough meeting with Hajime. Interacting with this weirdo has made me even more late.
Before walking off, I said one last thing to this asshole.
“You know… assuming your classmates are people who actually have human decency for others, I’m going to speculate that you’re some social outcast. And I’m not going to take what some miserable, lonely asshole has to say to heart. Have a good one…”
Leaving off of that note. I quickly gather myself to hurry my way to the fountain, before he can say anything else to me.
What a strange encounter.
~~~
Upon arriving at the fountain, I indeed found Hajime, but expectantly there was someone else.
A girl in a Main Course uniform with pale brown hair. Both her and Hajime were sat down at the bench, immersed in a video game together, as I approached them.
“Hajime!”
Hearing my voice he looked up at me. “Look who’s late. Get over here (Name)!”
I finally made it over, both of them getting up, but the girl hadn’t look up from her game. She walked over to me and started a conversation. “Hey, my name’s Chiaki Nanami… Hinata-kun has told me a lot about you… I think…” She seem very immerse in her game. “You can probably tell, I’m from the Main Course-“
Nanami was cut off by the sound effect of GAME OVER as she finally looked up at me because of this. “Aw man… that sucks…” she paused a bit, before continuing. “I’m the Ultimate Gamer.”
“Hello there Nanami, I’m (Name) (Last Name), it’s nice to meet you.” I shook her hand before turning to Hajime.
“You didn’t tell me your new friend was a Main Course student Hajime! Now I’m really surprised.” Hajime rolled his eyes at me before Nanami spoke again.
“Hinata-kun is a nice guy… I think it can be agreed that he’s a great friend.”
You grinned. “Agreed.”
Hajime scoffed, “That’s because of how nice of a person you are Nanami… honestly I myself have no clue why you befriended me as an Ultimate.”
Nanami huffed before looking at Hajime with stern eyes. “Hinata-kun, we’ve been through this… me having a talent… doesn’t make me superior, or vise versa… you’re a person, not something on a podium that’s ranked.”
You thonked Hajime on the head.
“OW! What was that for?!” He grabbed his head groaning in pain.
“I tell you this all the time Hajime! And you say these things around Nanami too!? What are we gonna do with you…” you sighed.
Nanami pulled her game back up. Focusing on her screen. “Looks like we’re going to need to build your confidence Hajime…”
“Agreed… speaking of the subject of talents, I actually met a Main Course student and I’m wondering if he’s one of you classmates Nanami. He was kinda an asshole about my status of being a Reserve Course student.”
Nanami looked up. “Hmm… was he tall with white hair…? If so then I see you’ve met Komaeda...”
The Cemetery (Part 1)
Genre = Angst
Warnings = mentions of death, self-depreciation (lmk if there should be any more that I should mention!)
Description = Komaeda seemed particularly off the day he would later ask you to accompany him to visit his parent's graves. You reflect on that day.
Wc = 830 (there'll be more I just don't wanna jam it all in one ^^;;)
You had always wondered when Komaeda would bring you to his place. Usually, you’d be excited, yet something seemed almost distraught with him today.
His eyes hung low, always aimed towards the ground or towards something in the background, never meeting yours. With each concerned comment, he would just say, “Oh, I’m fine. Don’t worry about it.”
He was obviously lying, you knew that. Your boyfriend wasn’t known for lying, that is unless it was to not hurt someone he cares about. Clearly, there’s something bothering him, something he knows would bother you as well. You’d normally press him to tell the truth, yet you decided this time might not be a good time for that.
So instead, you opted for putting your hand on top of his, letting it rest there comfortably. Komaeda’s hand stiffened underneath yours, seeming to tense up the longer your hand lingered.
“Is this okay?” you asked. You needed to make sure he was okay, and didn't want to make him more uncomfortable then he already seemed.
He let out a tiny ‘mhm’ before taking a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. “I-I’m sorry..” he muttered. “Trash like me really shouldn’t be–”
He stopped himself, letting out a sad sigh.
“Hey, it’s okay.. You don’t have to be sorry for feeling upset…”
He finally met your eyes. “B-but.. When I’m upset, you get upset too–!”
“So? It’s natural, I care about you Nagito.”
His expression softened before his eyes darted down at the ground. “I-I.. I care about you too.. B-but really, I shouldn’t be–”
His breath hitched as he attempted to speak more.
“N-nagito?”
He tried to continue, but his words came out as a mushed mess of self depreciation and cries.
"H-hey.. whatever's going on, you can tell me, okay?"
You tried your best to console him, despite not knowing the root of the problem.
Moments passed as you tried to allow Nagito to regain his breath. Finally, his breath became steady enough for him to be able to speak.
"I-its.. it's just.. my parents.."
You let out a soft 'oh'. You didn't know much about Komaeda's parents, he never really talked about them. You knew it was a sore subject for him, being that they died in a horrible accident when he was young.
You didn't know what to say. If you asked him what he meant, would that just make it worse? If you ignored it surely that would only cause the same effect.
Komaeda needed you. It was just you and him alone right now. You were the only one who could help him.
"K-ko.. what.. what is it?"
".. it's.. it's their anniversary today."
"You're missing them, aren't you?"
He nodded solemnly. "Y-yeah… I'm sorry, my hope… I don't mean to bother you with my personal problems.."
"H-hey! You aren't bothering me at all Nagi.. I want to help you in any way I can."
He leaned against you, his hair brushing against your neck. "I haven't seen them.. in so.. so long.."
"Maybe you can visit them? Wherever they're buried?"
He shook his head, "I.. I can't. I told myself I'd never go back there.."
"Why's that?"
"Brings too many bad memories.."
You paused. You focused on his breath, it wasn't shaking anymore.
"I don't know what to do.. I haven't seen them in years now.. haven't even visited them.."
"I get it.. it hurts to see them like that.."
He nodded along. "I'm truly an awful son.. can't even visit his parents graves just because he's scared—"
"Nagito, you're not… it's okay that you're scared. Seriously. You don't have to pretend you're not."
"I'm scared they'll hate me." he whispered. "They'll hate me.. just like everyone else.. they wouldn't want to see who I've become.."
"Ko, you and I both know they would never hate you. I'm sure if they could see you now, they'd be proud-"
"How?" he asked. He parted from your side and looked you in the eyes. "How could they possibly be proud of this?"
"Well.. You're really strong. Stronger than I think you'll ever know.."
He cocked his head slightly, "W-what do you mean?"
You smiled at him, "You've carried on Ko. You try to make others smile no matter what. You try to give others hope. To me, that would make any parent proud."
".. t-that's just things that you believe though.."
"And it's the truth!"
He flashed a sad smile, ".. do you think I should go and visit them?" His eyes wandered mine, searching for any answer.
"Yeah, I do."
He hummed, "I don't think I can do it alone…" His eyes shone with hope as he looked at me. "D-do.. do you think you could come with me? It's okay if you don't want to! I wouldn't want to go with me either.. especially since I'm—"
"W-wait.. are you sure? That it's okay for me to come?"
He paused his self depreciation to nod. "Only if you're okay with it?"
“ The Sudden Appearance Of Nagito Komaeda ” Chapter 01.
Next –>
· · ───────🍀─────── · ·
Let's start with basic information, shall we?
First of, your name is . . Well, your name!
Second of all, you're an adult, twenty-two (22) specifically. Meaning you have a job, which was a simple job at an office your parent suggested.
Yes, you live alone in a house. You're a pretty basic person living a pretty basic life. In a pandemic. Yes, a pandemic. It bored you to death but at least it gave you time to do what you want.
Yeah, it went pretty normal . . That is until a character you happen to have taken a liking to and is a comfort character appeared out of thin air.
You were just watching on Crunchyroll/Netflix until you heard a thud coming from your bedroom. And you didn't expect the Nagito Komaeda from Danganronpa to be lying on your bed, unconscious.
So here you are now! Waiting for him to wake up, so during the time he was unconscious- you were checking a lot of things. You pinched yourself, it's not a dream. You stared at him for a moment, he's no cosplayer either. You hid anything that's Danganronpa related and thought about things.
Well, he's in his outfit, the one from the second game. His arm was neither Junko's nor a robot one, it was his own. It was hard to see but there were slightly red marks on his neck, which most likely came from that one scene with Akane.
' So is he him during Chapter Five? Hm . . I could've sworn I- Wait ' You turned your computer chair, clicked twice at the Danganronpa: Goodbye Despair icon and it opened. You checked your last saved.
It was when you discovered his body. That was your last saved. You continued to think about it until you heard a soft groan, which made you immediately close the window and turn off your computer in panic.
It was a good thing you didn't fell off the chair and instead turned to face the . . ' character '. His eyes slowly opened as he turned his head slightly to avoid the light, his eyes were a gray-ish green color. Whether or not he's the real one, you gotta admit, his eyes are very pretty.
You stood up and looked down at him, concern on your face as you asked " Hey . . Are you okay? Can you hear me? "
—
He was sure he died. But if that was true, then how did he end up here? Nagito stared at the person looking at him for a moment, taking in their features. Their skin was ( Skin Color ) and their eyes were a pretty shade of ( Eye Color ).
" Hey . . . Are you okay? Can you hear me? "
Their voice was pretty too.
" I . . Where am I? " He asked, slowly sitting up while rubbing his head. He looked around and noticed he was probably in the person's bedroom. " Well, as you can see, you're in . . . My bedroom " They answered.
Nagito, although panicking in the inside, faced them. " How did I end up here? " " . . . That I don't know " How unfortunate. So he somehow appeared? But how is that possible?
" My apologies, I haven't thanked you for letting me, a total stranger, lay on your bed " Nagito says. The person shrugged and waved it off, " Nah, it's fine. I haven't introduced myself " They leaned back on their chair and looked at him straight in the eyes, introducing themselves.
" Y/N L/N, pleasure to meet you "
--
" I'm Nagito Komaeda "
Hm . . I did use the English settings instead of the Japanese one, so that's probably why I can easily understand him . . That is if this whole thing is connected to MY playthrough.
" Well, Nagito, seems like you suddenly appeared. Do you remember anything before this? " You asked, playing with the pen in your right hand. What? It's somehow fun.
Nagito thought for a moment before answering with a shake of his head. " I'm sorry . . But I don't remember " You hummed and closed your eyes, " I see. Well, that's fine. It's a good thing I have a guest room "
" Huh? " You stood up from your chair and shoved your hands inside your pockets. " If you suddenly appeared out of no where then there's a high possibility you have no place to stay, riiight? "
Nagito blinked before nodding, " Ah, I see your point. But are you sure you want someone like trash stay here? " You raised an eyebrow at him in confusion, " I've been living here for a long time so of course I'm staying "
--
Nagito's eyes widen. " I didn't mean it like that! " Y/N simply laughed it off and said, " I know I know. I'll be downstairs in the kitchen, enjoy looking around the house! " With that, they simply left him alone.
Wait, so they're just going to let him look around? Just like that? No guides or anything?
He sighed, he should be grateful that they let him stay for a while. Nagito slowly stood up from the bed and looked out the window, he's . . . Not at Jabberwock Island anymore.
A small creak was heard and he turned to look at where the sound came from. It was from the closet. It slightly opened. Nagito reminds himself that it would be disrespectful to just open it because his curious.
Unfortunately, for you that is, the closet opens even more and even more bad luck for you- a certain book fell from one of the shelves inside the closet.
Nagito looked at it and his eyes slightly widened, that symbol . . " . . Hope's Peak? "
Greetings! I got this idea for danganronpa AU where Nagito is like ghost "living" (or haunting idk-) his old house and the reader moves into that house and they slowly became closer and yk<3
hi i love this concept :)
Request for: Nagito Komaeda Warnings: nagito’s backstory, slight religious overtones, we breach minor ghost-fucker territory (but no actual ghost-fucking), no-killing game au also ~~~
The house itself was rather nice. Nothing too luxurious for who the previous owner was aside from the obnoxiously fancy chandelier hanging in the den.
The realtor was hesitant to explain that the reason it was selling so comically cheap was, in fact, due to the belief of a ghost. Not just any, however. It was the previous owner’s ghost.
People who even stepped into the house could feel his chilling touch. Hear quiet, shaky whispers in the night. The fireplace would crackle and burst to life at strange times with nobody near it. Visitors and almost-buyers alike would thrust their warnings to stay away upon anybody who so much as looked at the home.
But that didn’t matter much - a house was a house and it’s not like the ghost was malicious from description. Just… annoying. Perhaps a little eerie, but again, not harmful. Everybody escaped without physical injury. So, why not buy it?
Maybe the ghost just needed a friend? Death was probably a lonely time.
Bought on Tuesday. Moved in Wednesday. Finished unpacking… still pending.
It’s not like (Y/n) had anybody to impress anyways. She’d made the move for a fresh start; new faces, new stories.
The bumps began on Friday.
Sometimes they were taps. Sometimes crashes followed by the gentle rapping against the walls, as if to apologize for the loud noise.
She’d stayed through the month, undeterred by any of the ghosts’ activities.
Then the happenings seemed a little more… intimate.
A photo slowly sliding out from beneath the fridge, at first.
Three people in frame. From left to right, there was a figure with shoulder-length pink hair and a smile to make the heavens jealous - then white hair to rival a cloud-marshmallow love child, skin sickly pale and body wastingly thin - finally, brown hair with an ahoge sticking out like an antenna and posture that almost made him taller than the one in the middle. Well, not really, but attempting counted, right?
“Which one’s you?” she asked the air, whether she was too tired, or simply didn’t care enough, to be embarrassed was irrelevant.
A single droplet of water, from a leak she didn’t know existed until this very moment, fell from the ceiling before splotching over the face of the one in the middle.
“White hair, heavy eye bags?”
There was no response, but she took it as a yes anyway. What a pretty, pretty face. In a tragic way.
Because he did look rather ill. Frail build and purple hues under his eyes. Pretty but suffering - it made her feel bad. Of course, she already knew he was dead, but even so - suffering should always inspire empathy rather than romance.
And again, he was dead, so the likelihood of a romance between them anyway was slim to none. None. Unless she suddenly dropped dead, there would be no sweet kisses in the morning or gentle hugs from behind as one of them makes dinner. Maybe when she died, he’d be available for a ghostly date while the house gets put back on the market.
(Y/n) chuckled at the sudden thought of lightning cracking into her home, despite the sunny weather, and striking her dead where she stood. Ridiculous, but God liked ridiculous things.
The sudden thought hit her - what if that old photo was old old? Maybe he was eighty when he died and she just subconsciously signed herself up for a date with an elderly ghost?
Shaking her head, (Y/n) scolded herself for the thought. She’d already be dead by then, it wouldn’t matter what age he was...
Then, it was the scribbling on spare papers. Always specifically spares. Double copies she had put in recycling. Scraps. Even on the backs of paper-esque trash. It was an oddly considerate move for a ghost, though to be fair, she’d never met a ghost before and couldn’t tell if it was out-of-place or not for them.
The words always appeared when she was out of the room. Leaving to grab something and coming back to find the out-dated schedule for work out of recycling and on her desk with crayon sprawled over it.
Hi
Eloquently said, in her opinion.
“Hi?” she looked around the room, “Can you not talk? I thought people said they heard whispers…”
A bang in the other room drew her out. When there was nothing out of place, she returned to her desk only to be met with more words.
I’m Nagito Komaeda :)
“Dodging the question, huh?”
The process repeated. Bang. Nothing out of the ordinary. Return. New words.
Sorry :(
“Don’t apologize,” (Y/n) shrugged off before moving to her computer, “I’m just gonna look you up.”
A series of bangs - now that she truly listened, it sounded like a fist pounding to the drywall - resonated through the home. She did not get up nor did she pause her actions of Googling the man known as Nagito Komaeda.
Until a piece of paper flew in from the open door.
Bad idea
“Probably, yeah,” she huffed, moving back to her computer.
Nagito Komaeda, born April 28th, first popped up as the sole survivor in an old plane hijacking report. Both parents, all plane staff, and the hijackers left dead after the plane crash caused by a meteor strike. Then he came up as a survivor of an old serial kidnapper/killer. Then as a boy who’d inherited the entirety of his parents’ fortune and won a large sum from a lottery ticket he’d found in the trash bag he was stuffed in by his kidnapper. Then as a Hope’s Peak graduate under the title Ultimate Lucky Student.
Finally, as a 25-year-old man who’d miraculously survived ten years post-diagnosis with frontotemporal dementia and advanced lymphoma before his death.
“Holy shit,” she nearly choked on her own shock, “You weren’t boring, that’s for sure.”
Another paper, this time written in marker as if he could sense that she didn’t wish to get up. Another strangely considerate move.
Thanks
You’re not creeped out?
“I mean, it’s more sad than creepy,” her eyes scanned over a single line in the article once again.
“Nagito Komaeda, after all his fortunes and misfortunes alike, died at age 25, after ten years of illness, surrounded by friends who took the place of family. Out of respect, no interviews were conducted, but anybody, anyone at all even from a quick glance, could tell - Nagito Komaeda will surely be missed.”
Her eyes watered slightly as she clicked out of the Togami Publications, laughing at the pure awkwardness of her situation, “Oh my God, that’s really fucking sad. I’m sorry your life sucked.”
Another paper.
It’s fine
I was just wasting space anyway :)
“No, you were- “ she gestured to her computer screen before covering her eyes in shame of her tears, “You meant so much to your friends.”
She expected memorial posts, maybe not as many as there were, but she saw them coming. What she didn’t see coming, however, was that each and every one would be dearly heartfelt - not a single one was disingenuous or vague in the slightest. She also didn’t see herself crying by the end of her little search.
But there she was.
Something light floated into her lap. A tissue.
“Oh my fucking God,” (Y/n) choked up again, picking up the tissue with a small smile, “Stop, you’re a ghost, you’re supposed to be scary and making me leave, not helping me dry my tears…”
Another paper atop the slowly growing pile.
Was that a ghostphobic remark?
“Oh, I’m keeping that one,” she stood, sniffling as she wiped away her tears, and picked up the last paper, nodding to herself as she muttered, “Yep. This one’s going on the wall.”
~~
Nagito stopped whispering because people ran when he did. His voice was always hideous, he didn’t to be reminded. Besides, (Y/n) seemed to prefer the paper method - she hung up her favorites along the walls of her office and if a visitor teased her about it she would ignore them. It was admirable, how their grins and giggles rolled off her back like water droplets over a duck.
He wished he could be like that.
Could have been.
He still had trouble with that.
Has.
Nagito looks up from his spot at the kitchen table where (Y/n) was cooking for herself. She seemed so at-peace in this house, and he’s glad for that. He never liked living alone and everyone else seemed to hate having him there. Not that he blamed them much.
Even so, he much prefers (Y/n) over any past guest as his living counterpart of the house.
She even leaves chairs open for him at the table; he smiles widely at the thought, patting his thighs and kicking out his legs in his seat- just like now!
She’d pulled out the chair upon entering the kitchen before calling out for him that she’d be cooking. She even knew he liked watching her cook!
It was selfish of him to crave so much attention, but in the end, Nagito was already dead so… did it really matter when he indulged in his wants more than he should?
Divine punishment isn’t real and he likes being around her, so why should he bother hiding himself away in the attic?
(Y/n) moved around the house with little to no liveliness, it made him chuckle. Her shoulders drooped and footsteps heavy, it was fun. To feel like he wasn’t alone.
He hoped she felt the same. That he was a friend… or, undead companion?
He hoped she would stay and not move out.
He hoped they could be real friends one day… if it’s not too much to ask, that once she dies, she’ll meet him. The real him.
That would be heaven.
As promised (actually I don’t think I promised it but whatev) here is the girl talk snippet from “It’s Not Over. We’re Not Done.” chapter 15. If you haven’t read it ( https://archiveofourown.org/works/28798473/chapters/70625382 plu plug plug) then you’ll be confused, but like... if you want contextless post-DR3 “Nagito has friends” fluff, who am I to stop you?
Back in the Jabberwock killing game, Nagito almost enjoyed the motives that they were given. As soon as the 77th class had been thrown into the thick of it, Nagito had been beside himself with anticipation at seeing brilliant Ultimate hope persevere against the depths of tragedy. But he didn’t think he’d be happy about a new killing motive again.
Granted, the reason was much less nefarious this time around.
The First Blood Perk: there would be no trial or punishment for the first blackened. They would be free; or whatever that meant in the context of the simulation.
Nagito was looking forward to telling Hajime the relatively good news, but once his game-watching shift was over, it looked like Kazuichi had beaten him to it.
From what Nagito could hear at a distance, it sounded like Kazuichi was putting a bit too much emphasis on how “Kokichi is being an absolute dick to Kiibo”, but the tension in Hajime’s expression lessened with the actually-important news.
Even when Kazuichi left, Nagito stayed where he was, indecisively shifting from foot to foot. Hajime hadn’t reacted well at all when the two’s relationship had been outed the day prior. He was slowly warming up to showing casual affection when they were alone, but when others could see them…
Hajime finally noticed Nagito fidgeting on the other side of the hall, his face softening further, a small but genuine smile gracing his face. The sight went straight to Nagito’s heart, speeding it up to double-time.
He wasn’t sure how he’d gotten this lucky.
But before either could call out a greeting, two hands slapped over Nagito’s eyes as someone leaped onto his back.
“Ah?” Nagito said in subdued alarm.
“Nagichan spotted! Deploy, deploy!” Presumably Ibuki screeched in his ear, as he bent under her weight.
“Oh, wonderful! I was worried we would not be able to meet today,” Sonia chirped, somewhere to Nagito’s left. When Ibuki slid off and he regained his sight, Nagito saw the two, plus Komaru, beaming at him expectantly.
“Do you… need something…?” Nagito blanked.
“Uh, yeah!” Komaru exclaimed, as if he were missing something very, very obvious. “We haven’t talked about-“
She cut herself off when she spotted Hajime in earshot, looking as baffled as Nagito felt.
“Ha! Ha! Hajiman!” Ibuki hooted, “Nagi is needed in another castle!”
She and Komaru grabbed both of Nagito’s arms and tugged him back in the direction he’d come from.
Murder, maybe? No, probably not.
Sonia smiled brightly and gave a brisk wave to Hajime. “Do not worry! We shall return him to you soon!”
Komaru and Ibuki giggled madly at her word choice as they dragged Nagito away. He wasn’t positive, but he was pretty sure Hajime’s face began turning a concerning shade of white.
Komaru threw the door open when they reached her and Toko’s room. The three girls filed in without hesitation, but Nagito stopped at the doorway. Wasn’t it inappropriate for a man to enter a girl’s room? It wasn’t like he had ever done that before. Nor had he ever wanted to. However, the protest never had the chance to leave his mouth before he was pulled in, too, the door slamming behind him.
It came as no surprise that Toko was already inside, curled up under the covers. She seldom moved ever since they were locked inside the hotel, still wracked with guilt and self-horror from what she had done to save Komaru from Tsumugi’s crowd. From who she had let Genocide Jack kill.
“Hello, Toko,” Nagito said quietly. “Is Nami bothering you?”
Toko made a small noise of negation.
The only parts of her that Nagito could see was the tangled purple mess of hair sprawled across the pillow, and her hand, absently petting his dog lying beside her. Evidently, at some point during the past two hours or so, Nami had slipped inside, like the spoiled pet she was.
“Tell us everything!” Komaru urged excitedly, jumping onto the mattress to sit with her girlfriend. Sonia knelt delicately on the floor on Toko’s other side, and Ibuki flopped down next, yanking a very confused Nagito with her.
“Everything...? Komaru, we were on the same shift,” Nagito reminded her.
“Huh? No, not about the…” Komaru trailed off. It seemed like their merry group of twenty-three was split down the middle when it came to how to deal with their situation. Hajime couldn’t stop talking about it, but Komaru was trying very hard to talk about literally anything else.
Ibuki interrupted. “So are you and Hajiman, like, ooey-gooey lovey-dovey, or are you…” She made a variety of random sound effects that Nagito was afraid to interpret.
Sonia and Komaru were leaning forward with sparkling eyes and wide grins.
Ah.
“I… um,” Nagito stuttered, completely unsure of how to answer. The room suddenly felt very warm. And small. “Not… Not the second one. I think.”
“Ooey-gooey boyfriends!” Ibuki squished his cheeks as Komaru and Sonia shot him with rapid-fire questions.
“When!?”
“Where?”
“Who confessed!?”
“Oh! Have you kissed?”
Nagito managed to pry Ibuki away from his face. She bounced away, unbothered. “A week ago, in the hotel hallway, it… depends, and…” Nagito stopped. What was he even allowed to disclose? So much of this was uncharted territory; he still wasn’t used to having friends in the first place. He still wasn’t used to even calling them friends, despite them insisting it was so.
“He’s blushing! They totally have!” Komaru accused proudly.
“My goodness, the both of you must be so sweet!” Sonia clasped her hands together under her chin. “What did you talk about?”
Nagito had replayed the moment an inappropriate amount of times in his own head; maybe it would be nice to talk about it out loud. And they were asking. “Hmm… Hajime said he loved me, and let me kiss him.”
The three girls had frozen smiles on their faces, like they were expecting more.
Ibuki blinked. “Ah… aww?”
“I’m sorry. Was that too much?” Nagito frowned. He was trying to get better at determining when he had been talking for too long.
“D-details…” Toko mumbled. So she was listening.
“It… was nice…?” Nagito ventured.
“What did you talk about?” Komaru prompted. Sonia and Ibuki nodded.
Oh. Just a little more, then. “I told him that I fell in love with the Hajime inside Izuru and the Izuru inside Hajime. Then he requested that I stop saying things like that if I continued rejecting his advances. I reminded him that it was for his own wellbeing, and he told me that for whatever reason, he believed that I wasn’t an utter detriment to his quality of life. He even said he was sad when I died!” Nagito closed his eyes dreamily at the memory. “He said many kind things, and allowed me to kiss him. He smiled!”
The girls looked considerably less excited.
“I… I am… more confused, somehow.” Sonia cocked her head, her eyebrows upturned.
“Wait, hold on, did Hajime say he loved you before?” Komaru asked. “When you were in Towa with us, you said it was one-sided.”
“L-lying…” Toko muttered.
“No, not on purpose!” Nagito quickly clarified. He tried not to lie when he could. “Hajime also said it on the boat ride back to Jabberwock, after we escaped Aozora.”
“Well well well!?” Ibuki shook her fists, pumped up again at the prospect of more gossip.
That memory wasn’t quite as pleasant.
“When Hajime was fixing my prosthetic, he wanted to know why I sacrificed myself for him, and allowed myself to be captured in his place. Of course, I reminded him that I loved him,” Nagito recounted. It seemed like an obvious question at the time. Now that he had hindsight, though, he wondered if it was simply a way to steer the conversation. “He said he felt the same. He tried to kiss me, but…” Nagito winced.
“It’s not that I don’t want to. I just can’t let you. Because I was right, wasn’t I?”
“You think I’m doing this because of Izuru!?”
Nagito shook his head. “...Well. Like I said. It was… for his own good.”
Sonia gasped and covered her mouth. “Oh, Nagito, I… I am so sorry!”
“You’re… sorry?” Nagito repeated. Not quite the reaction he was expecting.
“I told you that Hajime was fixing your arm because I thought you wanted to talk,” Sonia explained mournfully. “I knew how you felt, and I could tell Hajime had feelings for you as well. You both acted so odd afterwards. I should have picked it together!”
“‘Put’,” Toko corrected.
Calling his and Hajime’s actions “odd” was a bit of an understatement. Hajime tried to explain himself, and reconnect, and care for Nagito. But Nagito pushed him away. He was cruel.
“Um, question?” Komaru spoke up hesitantly. “You keep saying that avoiding him was for his own good. What do you mean, exactly?”
“Is it Nagichan’s luck?” Ibuki asked.
Nagito shook his head. If it were anyone else, or if Hajime was 100% “Hajime”, it would have been. Something terrible would have happened to him, just like his parents. But Hajime’s own Ultimate Luck nullified the negative aspects.
Well. Not Hajime’s luck. It was-
“You are talking about the simulation, then?” Sonia offered after a pause.
No, not really. Nagito wasn’t in the mood to correct her, though. Plus, the Jabberwock killing game was a massive roadblock between the two of them.
“I never saw the simulation, though. What happened?” Komaru asked.
Sonia and Ibuki avoided Nagito’s eyes.
The Jabberwock killing was also the massive elephant in the room.
They all waited for Nagito to explain. He didn’t. He figured the extent of his actions would best be described by the ones he hurt.
“Ah. Well,” Sonia said after his silence became apparent. “Nagito, um… he was a little…”
“Wacko?” Ibuki supplied.
Sonia looked at her sharply. Nagito nodded in encouragement.
“Nagichan tried to hurt Imposter. And everyone. And Hajiman... is also part of ‘everyone’?” Ibuki continued with uncharacteristic discomfort. Her details were very lacking. Nagito thought it would be best to fill in a bit.
“Not out of self-preservation, either. I simply thought that by introducing despair, it would persuade our classmates to fight for their own brilliant hopes. When I failed, I tried to convince the others to do the same,” Nagito explained. The words were familiar, but even he noticed that his tone lacked the enthusiasm he once spoke with. It felt less like the ramblings of a devotee, and more like an objective, emotionless retelling. “I found out our past identities as the Remnants of Despair, and used my own life to try and take theirs. After all, it was the only use I could think of for myself.”
By the deafening silence following, Nagito came to the conclusion that this was not the planned topic of discussion.
This was all news to Komaru. Still, she didn’t look surprised. It probably sounded very consistent with her and Toko’s experience with him.
“But we have forgiven you!” Sonia insisted, covering his hand with hers. “You have proven that you are a good man, many times now. And… we have all done… terrible, terrible things.” Her voice dipped down at the end of her sentence. As pure-hearted as she was now, Sonia, too, was a Remnant of Despair.
“Hajiman totally thinks so, too!” Ibuki piped up, the positive momentum picking up again. “He’s gone gaga!”
“First impressions aren’t everything, either!” Komaru added. “I mean, look at me and Toko. The first time we met, we were totally different to each other than we are now.”
“It wasn’t the first time we met,” Nagito blurted out.
Oops.
“You… knew each other when you were students?” Sonia deduced. “I did not know that.”
“Oh no, Nagichan didn’t like Reserve Courses…” Ibuki recalled. There went the positive mood again. However…
“I met him when he was no longer a student,” Nagito corrected, his tone flattening out. He met him when he was no longer Hajime.
“I see. Hajime feels guilty because Izuru hurt you?” Sonia asked quietly.
Yes, but not the way she meant it.
Nagito wasn’t planning on explaining much further, but Toko spoke again, her voice muffled under the blankets.
“W-where did you g-go when you l-left Towa? Th-the f-first time I-I mean.”
Nagito’s head shot up.
“Wh-what Tsumugi said…” Toko murmured.
“Nagito Komaeda, Ultimate Lucky Student number two, psychopath hope-bitch, Izuru’s personal puppy dog!”
A sharp inhale from Sonia, a gawk from Ibuki, a sympathetic sound from Komaru.
The questions popping around in their minds were practically audible, but they knew enough not to voice them. It wasn’t like they didn’t understand what Toko was implying, either.
Nagito felt that familiar, peaceful feeling of resignation fill his body, pasting a blank, cheerful smile on his face.
“I’m sorry, I know this isn’t what you planned on talking about today. Though, if it’s any consolation, I’ve found this conversation enlightening. It’s good to remember your roots, isn’t it?” Nagito mused. “‘Hajime and Nagito’... it’s pretty nonsensical and twisted, hmm? His claim to care for me is… impossible. And so is yours-”
Nagito was cut off when Sonia tackled him.
“Do not dare finish that thought!” She cried, squeezing him much tighter than he figured she would be able to. “I do not claim to know how Hajime feels, but I know how I do!”
“Sonia…?” Nagito blinked, trying and failing to untangle himself.
“You are sweet and kind. You saved my life, even after how we have treated you!” She insisted, cheek squished against his shoulder.
Ibuki leaped at Nagito from his other side, nearly knocking him and Sonia to the ground. “Ibuki’s crazy, too, it’s a-okay! And she was wrong, Nagichan would never hurt his neighbors’ pets. Nami-Mami is so happy!”
The dog’s tail thumped on the bed at the sound of her name.
“Plus, Nagi’s got the voice of a princess, and he lets me play with his floof!” To illustrate, Ibuki plunged one of her hands into his hair and ruffled madly. Nagito really didn’t like it when (most) people touched his hair, but he was too surprised at the moment to protest.
Two more arms wrapped around his shoulders as Komaru laid on her stomach to reach them from the bed. “I know I haven’t really known you for too long, but I wanna get to know you more. We didn’t get off on a good foot, but you’re so different now!”
A hand landed on his head.
“I-I j-just do wh-what Komaru does… sh-she makes friends w-with w-weird people, b-but…” Toko muttered.
Nagito felt tears prick at his eyes, but he was too cocooned with affection to be able to wipe his face. “Ah… that’s… thank you,” he murmured.
He jumped when he felt a light slap on his scalp.
“Also, come on! Hajime is totally head over heels!” Komaru scolded playfully. “When you talked to him on the computer back in Towa, he was so happy you were okay, I thought he was gonna, like, explode!”
“I-it was gross,” Toko agreed.
“And Hajiman tried so hard to rescue you!” Ibuki squealed. Nagito flinched at her proximity to his ear. “Ibuki heard he carried Nagichan all the way back to the bus. Like a knight and a princess!”
Nagito wasn’t sure he liked Ibuki’s insistence of him being a princess, but she meant well.
“And I have never seen Hajime as happy as he was when you were together.” Sonia said, pulling back to put a hand on Nagito’s cheek. “We are not defined by our actions in the past. Who you are now is most important, and the person that you are now is the one we all love.”
Being loved: it was an experience that Nagito never really had. Of course he wouldn’t recognize it.
“After everything… I think you should allow yourself to believe what you are told.” Sonia smiled gently. “Don’t you?”
Change didn’t come easy. It didn’t come quick. It came in increments, in short bursts, in relapses and two steps back, and in growth.
One gesture couldn’t change everything. But it could help the process.
“I… I love you all, too,” Nagito said thickly.
********************
Nagito knew he’d made Hajime lose his cool quite a bit back in the day. But not like this. Never like this.
The hole Hajime had punched through the wall watched them like a single black eye, the resulting drops of blood on the carpet almost visible, even in the dark. Hajime’s eyes were puffy, and the bandage on his hand was bulky and rough.
When Hajime had gotten out of the shower, Nagito was laying on the bed and feigning sleep. He wasn’t sure what he could even say to Hajime, and decided that acting was the least offensive thing to do. He kept his eyes shut, even when he felt Hajime’s bore into him. Even when Hajime laid down and clung onto him for dear life. Even when Hajime hooked his legs like a vice around one of Nagito’s, and gripped his shirt enough to make it ride up, and buried his face so far into the crook of Nagito’s neck that he worried his breathing was compromised.
Maybe it was to prevent Nagito from leaving and trying to sacrifice himself. Again.
Or…
“I think you should allow yourself to believe what you are told. Don’t you?”
...Or maybe Hajime just wanted reassurance that Nagito was there. Maybe he just wanted to be with him.
“I love you,” Hajime whispered shakily to the supposedly-sleeping boy, his breath warm on his skin.
Hajime wanted Nagito to be scared about the prospect of his own demise. But how could he be?
Right now, Nagito had everything he wanted. He had… friends. A makeshift family. He had Hajime.
For once, Nagito was happy.
Nagito Komaeda x GN!Reader
Hellooooo! I decided to was time to bring my love for Daganronpa onto this page. I just love this obsessed hope boy. Enjoy! <3
Kinda hurt comfort? You know this poor boy doesn't understand how emotions work nor how to properly comfort someone T-T.
synopsis: you can't sleep so you go for a walk on the beach at night and run into someone unexpected.
wc: 1.0k
Saying your ability to sleep was hampered, would be an understatement. This killing game was taking a toll on you and you were slowly losing hold on your sanity. You sighed as you rolled out of your bed, and threw a light sweater on over your matching pajama set. Moving cautiously through your dark cottage, you found the handle to the door and gripped it.
Thrusting the door open with a creak, moonlight flooded the room and covered your skin with a sweet, pale light. A slight breeze was present as you made your way past all the other cottages. Clutching your sweater tighter to your body, you decided on the beach. It would be a good way to clear your mind, and hopefully go back to sleep before the sun came up again. Making your way past the palm trees, you sat down in the sand and closed your eyes taking in the sound of the waves. The peaceful night allowed you to finally relax your muscles for the first time in quite a while. You felt the tension melt from your body and finally took a big, deep breath. As you sat and relaxed, a wave of guilt came over you. The bodies of your deceased friends flashed in front of your closed eyes. With a gasp your spine shot straight up and your eyes flew open.
"Whoa!" a familiar voice rang. Your wide blown eyes searched wildly as you gasped and your hands clutched your clothes tighter. "Hey it's just me. A-are you okay? What's wrong?" You eyes finally raised to meet gray-green and your wild breathing started to slow.
"S-sorry... Nagito."
"Oh no, please, you shouldn't be apologizing to trash like me. It was my fault for startling you." You waved your hand, dismissing him, and patted the sand next to you. He reluctantly sat down, albeit a little farther than necessary, but you shrugged it off choosing instead to try and regulate your breathing.
"Can't sleep?" You finally spoke up after it had been quiet for some time. He scoffed, but there was no malice.
"I never seem to be able to." Frowning, you turned your head to him as his remained focused on the waves. His white and cream hair blew in the breeze as he basked the moonlight. Your eyes widened a bit as he finally seemed healthy. His sickly pale skin held a soft glow from the light. Gray eyes moved to yours as you stared dumbly at him. "W-What's the matter? Did I say something wrong again?"
"N-No. You didn't. And stop apologizing all the time, you're really not as horrible as you think." A slight blush was present on your features.
"Oh, you're so kind. As expected from an ultimate." You let out a huff. You could never get him to stop such self-deprecating behavior.
"I saw them... their bodies."
"Huh?"
"You asked me what was wrong. And... what's wrong is that I can't get them out of my head. I close my eyes... a-and... their always there. Bleeding... dying.... h-hurting. A-And I'm still here. Even t-though I'm weak a-and I d-don't deserve a-anything a-"
"Stop that." You realized tears had begun to flow freely down your cheeks. Your hands were trembling as a look of shock crossed your face. How long had it been since you allowed yourself to cry? "I won't let you lower yourself to my level." You sputtered as more tears fell. Once you had started to cry, it seemed you couldn't stop.
"Na-Nagito." You trembled. It was his turn to widen his eyes.
"Y/n?" You had always been so strong, helping out during the trials, aiding in the body discovery, you were even the one to bring Nagito his food when Hajime or Mahiru didn't want to when he was chained up. It was because of you that the group was still alive. You were sobbing and Nagito had no idea what to do.
"You know, my luck isn't always good." You lifted your head from your knees to listen to him. "It kinda works like a two way street. Once I have good luck, I have bad luck. My parents died when I was younger. I was on a plane with them, and the plane was hijacked, but a meteorite hit the hijacker in the head and he died. When the plane crashed they died as well, I was the only survivor." You sniffled again and scooted closer to him. "Then I was kidnapped by a murderer and stuffed in a bag. When the police came and let me out I found a lottery ticket in the bag worth $300,000,000. Recently, I... um... was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and lymphoma." You gasped and put your hand over your mouth.
"Oh-oh my god. Are you okay? Does it have a cure? How can we help you? I-I-"
"Oh no no no. You misunderstand me." He said frantically waving his arms. He put his hand on his neck nervously. "What I'm saying is that recently something really bad happened, so I'm sure something really good will happen soon!"
"How long?"
"Huh?"
"How long do you have left?"
"..."
"Nagito, how much longer do you have to live?"
"About 6 to 12 months." You gasped again.
"No! M-maybe Mikan can help. Yeah, Mikan. Let's go see her now!" You scrambled to your feet pulling him up with you.
"No no, It's fine. Really. Thank you for caring about someone as useless as me, but it's really alright." He smiled one of his bright, comforting smiles. Knowing now that it was all an act, you did the only thing you could think of and pulled him into a hug. He stiffened up and protested you touching someone as dirty as him, but you didn't let go. After a few minutes, he finally relaxed into the embrace.
"Nagito. Don't forget that, people care about you, okay?"
Thank you for reading! Hope you liked it <3
Okay so l scrolled far down enough I saw your Assassin! Nagito and I just, May I give you: Assassin! Nagito x Hitman! Hajime
-Nagito's childhood is somewhat like Black Widow's: kidnapped/raised into an orphanage at a young age after his parents died, forced to adapt and train into bloodshed, and grown and warped into being the ultimate assassin. He has the natural charm and face to seduce high profile targets and get the job done
-Hajime went the similar route as the kamukura project, except this happened much younger and it wasn't completely finished (Hajime doesn't gain every talent, but he gets a lot of genetic changes to enhance his strength and abilities and he knows how to fight. He also has the heterochromia) and he was found by the kuuzuryu clan and trained to be the family's personal hitman. He doesn't have the natural charm that Nagito has but he is also attractive and more approachable and easy to talk to, which brings many people's guard down until the moment he kills them
-Nagito being incredibly agile and good with knives while Hajime has more upper body strength and break someone in half with his bare hands. He's also more adapted to using guns. Both of them can use sniper rifles and look damn good in it.
-they both work together fairly often, because the two different organizations they work for both have a tense cooperation cooperation with each other and try to stay out of the other clan's business.
-both of them have this antagonistic, yet weirdly domestic relationship with each other.
-Nagito usually uses "puppy" as a degrading petname for Hajime.
-If Hajime wants to make Nagito shut the fuck up, he'll call Nagito "bun" or "bunny".
-Hajime "resting bitch face" Hinata does not know what "showing genuine emotions and not glaring at people " is. Nagito "pretty little psycho" Komaeda does not know what "showing genuine emotions and not manipulating yourself and others" is.
-neither of them are mentally healthy ahhahshh
-they have tried to kill each other before. They have tons of scars to prove it. Hajime has a thin scar near his jugular when Nagito nearly completely slit his throat and Nagito has a scars on his stomach where Hajime stabbed him.
-both of them are fucked up, and really like each other, but are unable to tell each other how they feel. Nagito with his horrible self esteem thinks Hajime wouldn't love someone like him and Hajime thinks Nagito is with him because he provides some sort of entertainment to the assassin. Still, they don't seem to mind it as long as they can be with each other a little more.
-and because of that, they constantly have each other's backs when things go to shit.
- But because they're also fucked up, (especially Nagito) the person in trouble doesn't mind dying, probably craving death,, and the person saving them doesn't really care about their wishes more than they care about how they want the other person for themselves. It's a little bit selfish.
-talking about wanting each other, they are both high key jealous of any partner or person the other brings alone with them. Hajime will revert to his resting bitch face and go back to being cold is he's jealous and Nagito will become more malicious and passive aggressive.
-i don't really know how else to explain that they are definitely not mentally sane or have a healthy relationship with each other than than saying that they're willing to hurt the themselves, the other, or people close to the others to either teach them a lesson or have them for themselves.
(-Hajime, after injuring Nagito so he can't move and taking care of him until he gets better: I'm doing this for your own good bun
-Nagito, after nearly kiling Hajime again and nursing him from all that blood loss: I'm doing this for you puppy)
-on a fluffier note, it's not all that dysfunctional. Hajime isn't the most smiley person but Nagito can make him giggle like no other and Hajime knows all the ways to make Nagito's eyes light up like a kid.
-they don't mind sharing a bed. They infact, share beds during missions more than they don't. They always end up cuddling. Fuyuhiko thinks their pining is disgusting.
-Nagito has a scar on the back of his neck that resuted from him being branded by his clan, and he's insecure about it. Hajime got drunk once and pressed a gentle kiss on it and said, "this doesn't define you, bun." Nagito was so flustered nearly burst into tears.
-Hajime has tons of scars both from Nagito and from his multiple trainings or punishments. One time, Nagito, while drunk and sleepy, pressed his cheek on Hajime's back, against one of the more deeper and noticeable scars, and went, "ah, to carry so much pain and still hold empathy is why I truly think you're my hope, puppy" Hajime didn't sleep all night thinking about it.
-(and yes, they weren't together when they said that to each other. They're just that in love and in denial about it Imaoo)
-I'm losing the plot of this but yeah...Assassin/Hitman enemies to lovers is my shit
me reading this over: holy shit /pos
hajime. nagito. go to therapy holy fuck that isn’t healthy dkfnskxnsknckdbx like i do fancy myself some Unhealthy Dynamics occasionally bc i choose Violence but i also would love for you two to not be regularly trying to kill each other oh my god. attempted murder of the person you’re in love with is not sexy go get help!!!!!!!!
dkfjskbxskbxksbx /lh, i actually do like this au a lot. the more Fucked aspects scare me but i choose to believe they work through it and properly address it before they get together. for my own peace of mind ;;;;;;
also bc i feel weird about posting this otherwise: do not do as these two do!!!!! do not get together with someone who physically harms you, especially not to this degree!!!! it’s not good, my friends, it will not end well 99% of the time.
Illusions
(Yayyyy. Another one. It’s been a while, sorry. just wanna preface this by saying that like... I usually don’t really give a shit about Obito, but I figured this was a natural progression of the story and I kinda wanted to try and dive into Obito’s psyche a little so. here we go. tell me what you think. @ghostjellyfishheart here’s the next chapter lol. pls mind the tw’s)
TW and CW for: MAJOR UNREALITY, seriously stay safe, Obito is kinda spiraling a lot, grieving, struggling with morality, drinking, alcohol, less then stellar coping mechanisms of all kinds, don’t do this kids, child death, ghost child, dead kid, you don’t like... see her die but Rin is very much not alive, references to suicide, implied suicide, the uchiha massacre is its own warning, murder, its bad. its just. its just bad. did I mention unreality? a lot of that, death of a family member, obito is having a hard time with feelings, probably dis@ssociation, pretentious symbolism, scratch that, definitely dis@ssociation
Obito Uchiha is upset.
And that is, frankly, ridiculous. Obito does not get upset. What does upset even mean? Is he sad? Mourning, perhaps? Or is he just worried? Either way, its borderline impossible. He shouldn’t be feeling anything. Obito doesn’t feel anything. Sure, he plays at it, when he’s Tobi. He feigns and pretends, he’s good at that. That is what he is, that is all he is. To Itachi, he is Madara. To Konan and Nagito, he is Obito. To everyone else, he is Tobi. Obito has taken on mask after mask after mask on in his life, both figuratively and literally. Sometimes he doesn't know where Obito ends and another begins. Obito does not feel anything, not for anyone that isn't Rin. Never for anyone that isn't Rin, and he left her behind a long time ago. And yet this boy, this child, has him reeling somehow. Has him… well, like before, the only word he can use is upset. He is rattled. And it has been so long, so long since he’s felt anything at all, that he doesn't know what to do. He doesn't know how to fix it. He kept seeing Sasuke in his head, kept remembering memories from years ago when he thought about the kid being gone forever. He remembered the first few years Itachi brought Sasuke to the compound, he remembered spontaneously discovering his obsession with tomatoes by accident with Kisame (who would not stop laughing. He had just never seen anybody. Put an entire tomato in their mouth. And Sasuke did it like it was the most natural thing in the world! Kisame wouldn't shut up about it for at least a week). He remembered helping the boy train with his newly forged chokuto, he remembered the grim determination towards his family and how much it reminded Obito of himself, he remembered all of it. And none of that should have mattered, because it wasn't real. None of it was real, the next world would be. The next world with Rin and Kakashi and Minato-sensei still alive, a world without… without Sasuke. Or any of the other Akatsuki. And that was what he wanted. He was sure that was what he wanted. Only in his room could he show the weakness tightly coiled in his stomach. But there was a knock on his door and it made him straighten up, instantly putting the mask that he just took off back on his face. He walked to the door and opened it, only to find the older Uchiha brother staring back at him. Obito blinked.
“Itachi-san. What are you… what are you doing here? I- uh… come in.” Obito and Itachi sat down at the small table in Obito’s room and stared at each other awkwardly. “So… how can I help you?” Obito tried to ask, unsure of whether to say it like Tobi or just let his guard down and talk like himself (whoever that was). Itachi cleared his throat.
“You are the only person in this godforsaken place that has sake that's worth a damn,” Itachi explained calmly. He looked away. “It has… been a long week.” Obito could tell the truth in that statement just from his cousin’s voice. Itachi sounded exhausted, and the perpetual mask of indifference had begun to slip when his little brother went missing. The two of them looked at each other and came to an understanding. For the next few minutes, there was no talking. Obito grabbed some glasses and poured his strongest sake out for the both of them, and they drank in silence. They only actually picked up a conversation once they were both drunk enough for the awkwardness to melt away.
“He’s likely not dead,” Obito commented bluntly. Itachi only sighed.
“If he is, I have no idea what I'd do,” Itachi grumbled casually, like it was an ordinary thing to say. “Certainly wouldn't stick around here. Probably follow in Shisui’s footsteps.” Obito only nodded, knowing better than to pry on that particular bit of insight into Itachi’s life. They were silent for a few more minutes before Obito spoke again.
“The massacre,” Obito started. “I was long gone by the time it happened. What… are you and Sasuke really the only survivors as the rumors say?” Itachi nodded, throwing back another glass. Obito thought about that bitterly, about his grandmother who wouldn't have been spared. Itachi sighed.
“Right. I've never really talked about this with anyone, and Sasuke and I don't speak about it much. You know how sharingan awakening works, yes?” Obito nodded, mind involuntarily flashing to his own experience.
“Well I made some genuine friends on my genin team. It was the first time I ever had any friends.” Obito closed his eyes and took another sip. Friends, sharingan awakening. Being crushed under a boulder with your crying teammates looming over you. Thinking, no, don't cry, it doesn't hurt. It really doesn't hurt. I can't feel anything, please don't cry. Watching a particular white haired individual (a traitor, that traitor) desperately try to save you. Losing a part of yourself, a part of yourself you didn't even know you had, and giving it to someone else. Forever living with that, knowing that your other eye is somewhere, because you can still feel it, but not knowing much else. The aching absence that grows from that. He opened his eyes again. “I watched them die, right in front of my eyes. That awakened my Sharingan, and when I went home, my father congratulated me. He congratulated me. It was a nightmare and he was proud. I don't know, that always stuck with me. But anyway,” Itachi paused to drink more sake as the room spun. “Sasuke’s eyes woke during the massacre. I didn't get there in time. He watched our parents die, managed to hide in the closet and keep quiet the whole time so they didn't find him. I got there in time to stop them from killing him, and realized his sharingan had awakened because of everything. I wasn't able to save anyone, but I was able to save him, and that's all that matters.”
“I understand,” Obito replied evenly. “I know what it's like to be too late.”
Itachi’s eyes slid over to him. “Yeah well… whatever. The Uchiha had been planning a coup for a while. Danzo, he gave me a choice. Either kill everyone myself and have Sasuke be spared to live happily in the village. Or, to let them kill everyone, Sasuke included. I didn't… I refused either option and tried to get there but I was too late. They killed everyone in one night, a bunch of Anbu who were deployed for the massacre. Like I said, Sasuke managed to hide. I knew that Danzo would be after us, so I grabbed Sasuke and we got the hell out of dodge. He didn't speak for months afterwards. Not a single word, other than screaming during his nightmares. It was probably a little selfish, but I… I missed him. There was no more ‘Itachi, look at the score I got at the academy!’ or ‘Itachi look, look I learned a new move!’ There was just… nothing. He was so vacant. If he's dead- if he’s dead after everything we’ve been through, I don't- I have no idea what I'll do. We have to find him, and we have to kill the people who took him away from us. We have to.” I know, he wanted to shout. I know, I feel the same way, but I don't know why! Itachi left not long after that, stumbled back to his room, and Obito fell asleep in his armchair. That night he had a dream, a dream of Rin. it had been years since he dreamed of her, usually they were memories and bits and pieces, but this was different. He opened his eyes in his dream to a dark plane filled with ink, darkness stretching in every direction. It was a frequent setting he found himself in, usually the dream would be about him sinking into the oily substance until he couldn't breath. But this time it was low enough to wade in, his feet touching the ground, whatever that was. In the middle of the expanse, there was a bone white skeleton of some creature he didn't recognize, and Rin. He staggered towards her, and she hugged him without a word. In dreams like this he was always covered in blood, the Obito from years past. But now he was just him, and he was maskless.
“Just what have you gotten yourself into now, Obito?” she asked, and it sounded just like her. It wasn't her, he was fairly sure of that, he was dreaming for god’s sake, but it sounded like her. It seemed like her, and that was enough. “It's okay to be worried about the kid,” she said, running fingers through his hair while he tried to calm his breathing.
“It's not real,” he managed hoarsely. “None of it. Nothing in this world is real, I shouldn't feel anything. So why… Why do I…”
“Does it matter if it's real?” she asked. “It feels real. Maybe it is, Obito.”
“Obito is dead,” he whispered. “At least the one you knew- Obito doesn't exist anymore.” Rin only shook her head, looking past him at nothing at all and smiling sadly.
“I don't believe you,” she said evenly. “You're still Obito. No matter how many names you take or how many masks you wear, I know who you are. And I think you do too.”
“It's not real,” he tried again, weakly.
“If it's not real, then why do you help Konan with the dishes? If it's not real, then why do you want to save Itachi’s brother so badly? Why do you make plans for Nagato’s dream in the supposed next world when you don't have to? Why do you stick around Deidara to make sure he doesn't get killed? Why do you help Sasori with his puppets? Why, Obito?”
“I can't be Obito,” he muttered quietly. “He’s dead. He died with you.”
“He is right here. He is sitting here with me. You're still you. You'll always be you.”
“B-But…. But Madara-”
“Madara is dead,” she said with finality, shaking her head. “Madara is a dead man now. You are the only thing that can bring him back, and you have a choice.”
“I've never had a choice.”
“You do now. Madara isn't here.”
“This is all just an illusion.” She smiled sadly.
“I'm an illusion, Obito. Your world is not.”
His dream didn't fade out from there. One second he was sitting in a dark dreamscape with his dead friend, and the next he was in the Akatsuki lair, laying in an armchair, sitting up and gasping for breath. His back hurt and his neck was aching from the weird position he dozed off in, and Obito could already feel the nausea of an inevitable hangover coming on. Still, he sat up properly, stretching his neck and running a hand through his short hair. Itachi was probably passed out in his room or throwing up already, and Obito had a hunch that he’d be feeling the same way pretty soon. He looked down at the floor and forced his eyes to focus. He didn't have time for a drunken hallucination within a drunken hallucination. But when he turned his head, he felt himself recoil and raise his hands to his face. The orange plastic from the ground winked back at him. Obito had taken his mask off. And now it was cracked.
If you're worried that Zero doesn't want to see you, we can assure you she doesn't hate you or anything
Oh I know she doesn't, in fact her liking me lead to a lot of problems...
How so?
Well...I'm sure you all are aware how both Hajime and Nagito idolize Hope's Peak Academy?
'Yeah, I mean Nagito is weird but for Hajime, it was mostly the school lie to him so why bring this up?'
Well... the thing is that they are the only ones; in fact kids during my time and Hotaru's always idolize that place, wanting to go there and become well known.
Yeah... I know how that feels like, I guess some kids bug you for that?
Wekk yeah, when your in Elementary; many kids think of what talent they want at the start of kindergarten and aim to get into that school no matter what, they'll do anything to get in there...
Including trying to become friends with kids who are related to Ultimates.
Wait, so... are you saying you dealt with that as well?
Yeah, pretty much - you have to all remember that when you guys enroll, I was about 7 while Hotaru was about 4 at the time, meaning that when Yukio enroll that lead to a lot of kids treating us quite differently.
Before Yukio enroll, I had friends and got along with them but after that - a lot of kids wanting to become friends with me just because my brother was an Ultimate and I wouldn't be surprise if Hotaru dealt with the same too.
With Ze-ze being one of them...
So she started to treat you differently just because who you were related to, hmph... that doesn't surprise me.
So what happen with to her?
Well... Ze-ze mostly help me with reading and writing since as say, I'm not good at that stuff but then she started to follow me as soon as news of Yukio attending Hope's Peak began to spread. She started to drive away friends I have made, she wanted me only to herself even though I told her to stop, she didn't.
Then it lead to a boiling point; one day, she wanted to talk with me alone and so I did and well... she wanted to run away from home and ask for me to run with her.
Run away...?
Yeah, as say her family treats her pretty horrible, hell her parents didn't even want her so they call her 'Zero' thinking she won't accomplish much and she figure since my dad isn't too great, we should run away but I didn't want to since I leave my brothers behind.
Th-Then the next thing that happen was that she attacked me, she just couldn't accept when I told her no; she even brought out a knife too and threaten to hurt herself if I didn't accept!
'Wh-Whoa, that went a total 180, holy crap!'
Di-Did any teachers come to stop that, this sounds quite insane to think it would happen to you.
Indeed that was quite unexpected!
Ye-Yeah... that sucks, I'm sorry about that...
So what happen after? Did a teacher come in...?
Well yeah they did given they rush in as soon as they heard me scream, after that I started to avoid her, so I haven't seen her after that.
PLS PLS LIST THE SWAPS!! TELL ME ABOUT THE SIBLINGS AND ALSO HIFUMI BECAUSE I LOVE HIM (IF YOU WANT!) I will also send more questions in the morning too, excited to see what you’ve been working on!!
OK OK OK !!!!! AHH! So, before assigning talents, I swapped the pools, so for the first game, I use the talents from the second game, and vis versa! For some i listed gender, sexuality, or neurodivergencies, though this isn’t all of them, and I haven’t developed them all to the same level!
This is SO long. I didn’t even bother mentioning things like my plans for the killing games. (I have DR1 planned out in full, but only parts of DR2 and the v3 anime)
THANK YOU FOR THE ASK MY HEART SKIPPED A BEAT IN HAPPINESS WHEN I SAW I HAD NEW ASK NOTIFS!!
LIST:
Trigger Happy Havoc (first game)
Kyoko Kirigiri- Ultimate Luckster- Mastermind (: Sometimes lesbians can be evil okay! was trained as a detective like everyone in her family and didn’t get the ultimate :) she’s definitely not mad about that :) her luck cycle depends on how far she plans things ahead. her good luck is when she’s spontaneous! She hates when ‘normal’ people are accepted by ultimates.
Makoto Naegi- Photographer (Mostly wildlife and nature photography, with Sayaka helping him for some animal photography (: trans and bi <3 One of sayaka’s birds nests in his hair like all the time)
Kiyotaka Ishimaru- Ultimate Swordsman (AUTISTIC ICON, has trained in kendo since he was a kid, then was essentially given away to the Fujisaki clan by his very stressed dad. Semiverbal, rarely speaks.)
Chihiro Fujisaki- Ultimate Yakuza (Taka is her bodyguard! His family is in debt to hers, the Fujisaki clan is the most powerful in Japan. trans icon, of course, dates Sayaka! Very direct, though she’s far more delicate and polite when talking to taka, her best friend)
Sakura Oogami- Ultimate Nurse (Works as an EMT- her clan still is in martial arts, so she’s still very buff, she assists in injuries at the family dojo. Autistic Icon)
Asahina Aoi- Ultimate Gamer (ULTIMATE ADHD. streams and has a ton of fun, will ramble while breaking records, demigirl who loves her girlfriend sakura :)
Mukuro Ikusaba- Ultimate Chef (Works best with ‘cheap’ food, and making them taste good. a byproduct of growing up on the streets with junko, and junko being bored of the same old food they dug out of the trash. now works closely with junko for her teams’ nutritional needs! autistic and sapphic.)
Junko Enoshima- Ultimate Team Manager (there are SO many sports she can never get bored, and the professional scene is always changing! prefers coaching womens’ teams, because being an ultimate brings them more publicity and usually higher pay :)
Mondo Oowada- Ultimate Prince (OH MY BOY. trans adhd icon. now the crown prince of Novoselic, with a reagent in his place until he comes of age. His service dog Chuck is a maltese and an absolute sweetheart. Chihiro takes him under her wing to teach leadership. also dates taka later OF COURSE, though they’re poly and I may add more ppl to their relationship later.)
Celestia Ludenburg- Ultimate Musician (specializes in violin, most strings, though she can play any instrument. grew up poor, dedicated herself to an instrument and persona to cope)
Byakuya Togami- Ultimate Musician (Yep. two musicians. two catty trans gay icons about to throw down. they HATE each other and grew up as rivals. specialize in classical, they literally tore a professional orchestra full of grown adults apart trying to make them side with who was the best musician. they’re so good that they’re matched, and Hope’s Peak accepts them as one student and combined ultimate. they room together. they fight. Literally if one of them gets expelled, the other does too, so they’re STUCK. eventually they become literally inseparable and insufferable together like the WORST siblings. I love them.)
Sayaka Maizono- Breeder (animal handler) (Specializes in birds!!!!!! has songbirds on her shoulders all the time. will give unsettling animal facts without realizing they’re unsettling. sends her songbirds to serenade chihiro when they start dating <3)
Yasuhiro Hagakure- Gymnast (you see this tall goof who acts like an older brother to everyone and wonder HOW he’s a gymnast. he’s completely different in competitions, though still lighthearted. becomes a big brother figure to mukuro and junko especially <3 also trans bc i say so.)
Leon Kuwata- Traditional Dancer (he just. kinda hates it. it takes SO much work and effort but he takes to it naturally. his cousin kanon is NOT like in canon, instead she’s helpful. he’d literally rather be doing anything else. doesn’t know how to do anything like... basic either. can’t cook. cant do his own laundry. everything was dedicated to traditional japanese dancing before he attended HPA.)
Toko Fukawa- Engineer (writes schematics and is very good at it. gets VERY upset when her plans go wrong. her notes are orderly and perfect. host for their system!)
Syo- Mechanic (a factive of genocider syo, NOT an actual killer. she’s a protector mainly, and also is more adept at hands on skills when it comes to fixing things, her hands are less shaky. Her notes are a disaster and she does it to spite Toko.)
Hifumi Yamada- (???) (reserve course) Protagonist! My BOY. HIFUMI IS GOOD OKAY. He’s autistic and loves anime and gaming! he’s not particularly ultimate-leveled at them, or anything else! Attending Hope’s Peak as a reserve course student! At one point he joins the student council as a reserve course representative even if he’s only a freshman :) He’s also a moderator in Hina’s livestream chat, under the username of JusticeHammer, fastest ban hammer this side of the internet. He's internet friends with hina and sakura, and doesn’t realize Oh We Go To the same SCHOOL until he bumps into them. and realizes hina doesnt know what he looks like. but sakura does. its hilarious. he’s aroace, and during the year they’re locked in HPA, is in a queer platonic partnership with Hina and Sakura, while they’re dating each other. it’s great.)
Goodbye Despair! (second game)
Peko Pekoyama- Lucky student (ohohoh. her luck relies on her conviction. if she has doubts her bad luck strikes HARD. trans!, was taken in by Fuyuhiko’s family when she was a baby, grew up as just another kid in the family. They all expected Fuyu to go off to HPA on his own and then BOOM acceptance letter)
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu- Programmer (He. gets so angry while coding. He has an array of rubber ducks to talk to and work through his coding issues with. trans of course. Very protective of Peko when people say she doesn’t have a ‘real’ ultimate. ADHD and Autistic)
Sonia Nevermind- Writer (Literary Girl) (Her family immigrated to Japan when she was young! She writes a lot of serial killer novels, murder mysteries and horror and all that! Trans and bi :)
Gundham Tanaka- Detective (YEAH my guy is a detective. still talks Like That. Trans and bi and he and Sonia were kinda-dating (t4t autistic power couple in the making) when things started happening. He spends some time with his cool older sister who he looks up to a LOT. He and Sonia talk through things together a lot, they both have those red string walls, one for murder cases, another for a fictional plot lmao.)
Mahiru Koizumi- Moral Compass (my GIRL. autistic. Her morals rely a lot on people taking responsibility and being reliable, and she ends up having to work through some biases she didn’t realize she had when she arrived at HPA. Is still protective of Hiyoko, though that protectiveness is spread a bit thinner to extend to the rest of the class.)
Hiyoko Saionji- Clairvoyant!!! (HI YES I COULD TALK ABOUT HER FOR DAYS. Has actual visions in dreams and when she suddenly faints, but doesn’t really realize they’re uhh Real Visions for a WHILE. uses her status as an ultimate clairvoyant to trick and bully kids when in school for a LONG time, though her homelife wasn’t great with her grandmother trying to find ways to make her visions more consistent. SHES ALSO 12 WHEN SHE JOINS THE 77TH CLASS. she’s just so advanced in academics and her ultimate is so interesting hope’s peak cant HELP but scout her early. she has SO many issues guys no one appreciates hiyoko enough, autistic gifted kid hiyoko my beloved.)
Akane Owari- Gambler (started gambling to help out her family and Got Good at it. is very very conscious of money and food like all the time. Runs the hope’s peak betting pools once she arrives. these ultimates bet on a lot of things. she ALWAYS wins. until she doesnt!!!)
Mikan Tsumiki- Martial Artist (ohhhh Mikan. Still anxious and clumsy (though not like THAT in canon) and literally no one looks at her and thinks Oh The ULTIMATE martial artist?? it isn’t until you see her in the ring that you understand. She started learning self defense as a kid because her (bad) parents essentially said she had to rely on and protect herself and no one else would help.)
Kazuichi Souda- Pop Idol (OH TRANS ICON? he’s nervous and paranoid about Everything still, though now it’s like. oh the entire world is always watching my every move this is Okay (: has the brightest neon album eras. he literally keeps up a like. weird chad persona when interacting with people because he’s masking how hard he’s constantly just internally screaming.)
Nagito Komaeda- Soldier (AHAHAH my mans got issues problems disorder he’s a messssss, this trans guy, this absolute gay. this boy leveled a city of thousands of people with his own hands and some bombs. Still has medical issues, but most of his like. treatments and medicine is hold hostage as long as he stays in line. believes the ends justify the means and anyone who dies to him is obviously weak, because look at him! he’s weak, but that doesn’t matter because he doesn’t have to be the strongest, he just has to be stronger than the weakest scum.)
Chiaki Nanami- Heir (OOF. Agender, uses any pronouns. Doesn’t really. enjoy being the heir. grew up with Byakuya in the same circles. she treats the economy and stock market and stuff like games. enjoys gaming but isn’t good at them. collects so many things. has halls full of collections. Her parents stopped controlling her once she was able to prove she had more money than them and could literally bankrupt them if she wanted.)
Hajime Hinata- Baseball Star (Chiaki’s best friend, his family was upper middle class until he hit it BIG as a baseball star. wants to do BIG things and wants to attend hope’s peak more than anything!! Doesn’t really think of baseball as his THING, just a means to an end! trans :)
Teruteru Hanamura- Biker Gang Leader (started with shaking down some jerks who didn’t pay their food and drink tabs at his mama’s restaurant. now he RUNS their tiny town. His siblings are essentially gang mascots, he works hard to keep them out of trouble (while bringing them to like. meetings where he ends up beating a dude almost to death. its fine). most of what he does it to get more money to keep the restaurant afloat and care for his mama with her health conditions.)
Nekomaru Nidai- Fashionista (the drama. the CHAOS. most people are like ohhh we can never understand this artistic genius when he’s literally just. vibing and has ADHD and a love for coffee. Works a lot on accessible clothing lines for disabled people! Also he and Kazuichi work together sometimes, Nekomaru is good at calming Kaz down and seeing like, the root of whatever problem and making it better. ALSO A TRANS ICON and just flaunts it.)
Imposter- In the hope’s peak days they are impersonating Ryota Mitarai, as a part of the 77th class. In the Killing Game they impersonate Mondo Oowada as the Ultimate Prince. They’re doin’ their best.
Ibuki Mioda- (???) (Izuru Kamakura) Protagonist! Gundham Tanaka’s older sister (though they’re in the same school year). Nonbinary and using just. an array of pronouns alongside she/her, and jokingly fights with gundham for neopronouns like MOM said it’s MY TURN on the rawrself pronouns. She attends the reserve course to stay at her brother’s side. She dresses loudly and acts even louder because !!! she wants to stand out!! in the middle of this drab reserve course hell!! but when things go down, she wants to be someone, to be worthy of being her amazing brother’s big sister. so she accepts some offers.
NON-KILLING GAME:
Ryota Mitarai- Ultimate Analyst (stays in his room. He’s terrified of the outside world but fascinated by it. watches hope’s peak academy through security feeds, picking up on little details. he just wants to understand things but never looks at the big picture.)
Chisa Yukizome- Ultimate Boxer (Homeroom teacher!! She’s working really hard and believes in everyone! Some are intimidated by talent, but she’s never hurt anyone outside of the ring! Dating Kyosuke)
Juzo Sakakura- Ultimate Student Council President (Has anger issues, though his work at reigning them in assisted in becoming an Ultimate. Was responsible for security and the Hope’s Peak student council. Dating Kyosuke)
Kyosuke Munakata- Ultimate Housekeeper (Meticulous, works himself to the BONE even if he’s good enough to not have to do that. Is working on establishing another Hope’s Peak! Dating Chisa and Jozu!!!)
Seiko Kimura- Ultimate Blacksmith (GIVE MY GIRL KNIVES!! She’s an anxious gal, always wearing a facemask that filters the air in her forge because she has some respiratory problems. she prefers making more decorative pieces like an artist, but sometimes can create utilitarian pieces or tools to fit specific needs. Still a doormat)
Ruruka Ando- Ultimate Pharmacist (She constantly asks Seiko for new tools for her developments in medicine, saying its all for the advancement of humanity, so Seiko denying any request is SELFISH, though she never thinks to make anything for seiko’s health issues. Dating Izayoi. Specializes in medicine for mental health. Not Doing Great :)
Sonosuke Izayoi- Ultimate Confectioner (He loves sweets. LOVES them. Creates things that look plain, ordinary. but taste so GOOD you CRY and maybe ascend for a little bit. sometimes Ando makes cool new drugs to put in the sweets, who knows! It’s a mystery! He always has like. a huge refrigerated case of fresh cakes, and constantly has a lollipop in his own specialty recipe in his mouth.)
I don’t actually have a specific bingo square in mind, but what I’ve always wanted to see in komahina (or, like, any komaeda ship) would be komaeda dealing with trauma involving planes. It’s just an easy to exploit thing that I feel is underutilized. I guess an easy one would be Survivors Guilt?
Alright another one for the @badthingshappenbingo and cross-posted to Ao3 here.
It’s as short as the last one but I like to think it’s much sweeter.
Warnings: trauma and mental instability. Self-explanatory.
“...mae...da...! Komaeda!”
“Mm...?”
It was still dark out save for the bedside lamp they had, which was now illuminating Hinata’s stricken face.
“Hinata...kun?” Heavy with sleep and confusion, Komaeda squirmed and struggled to push himself up. With a yawn, he gently touched the other’s shoulder. “What’s wrong? Aha, don’t tell me I kicked you.” He smiles easily, head lolling to the side in a tilt. “I’m sorry. You’re a kind person, so you’ll forgive me, right?”
“Komaeda.” Hinata’s expression remained grim, his tone urgent. Komaeda’s smile widens, yet he still flinched when Hinata grabbed his hand and squeezed tightly. “You were having a nightmare.”
“So I did wake you?” He can’t help but laugh softly even as bile threatened to rise up his throat. “That’s really embarrassing.”
“You started crying.”
And to Komaeda’s dawning horror, Hinata’s fingers brushed against his cheek and came back damp.
“You were crying for your parents,” he clarified solemnly. “Are you okay?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” The words came before he even needed to think. Even someone as useless and wretched as him could get this right. “Oh, no, Hinata-kun. I’m sorry. I don’t mean to bother you about something so insignificant as...”
Hinata covers his mouth. He cuts himself off immediately in response. Hinata grumbles at him, no surprise there, especially when he pulled his hand away as if burned.
He’s disgusted. From someone like mine, he’s definitely—
“Stop.” Hinata’s firm reprimand does get him to pause. Grimacing, Hinata added, “I know what you’re thinking. It’s not like that. It’s... It’s just urgh.” He trails off into an inelegant sputter. “Urgh.”
“Urgh,” Komaeda repeated with slight amusement. He watched with growing amusement as Hinata’s cheeks burned red and Hinata himself got so much more flustered, burying his face in his hands as he let out a beleaguered groan. Komaeda chuckled at this. “You don’t like it when I talk badly about myself, but you still react like this around me. You’re so funny, Hinata-kun.”
One might call it hypocritical, but... In reality, it’s because Hinata-kun’s so kind.
Hinata even flinches. How he wanted to soothe those worry lines on the other’s face.
He remembers how fearful his parents had been, too—
“Ah.” Komaeda swallowed, hearing his heart thump erratically in his ears. Had it been like this since he woke up? How troublesome. “I, um. I’m kind of thirsty. I think... I’m gonna go get a glass of water.”
“Yeah?” Hinata does turn to look at him, and he has a serious look of concentration. Honestly, under normal circumstances, Komaeda would’ve fawned over him but right now—he just wanted to get away.
He’s fortunate enough not to trip. Though, his stomach sinks when he hears Hinata rustling and padding after him.
“Me, too,” Hinata offered pretty lamely. “I’m thirsty, too.”
He pats Komaeda’s shoulder as he passes by, taking the initiative and fetching two glasses. Notably, he gets ice for one and forgoes it for the other. Knowing that Komaeda always preferred his drinks ice cold while Hinata preferred it a little lukewarm. Done without a word, because catering to him had just become routine to Hinata at this point.
I don’t...
“You’re white as a sheet,” Hinata said, setting the iced glass in front of him and feeling his forehead. “Do you want to talk about it?”
“What even is there to talk about...” The words slip before he can think. Komaeda just twists away, stricken. “I’ve become enough of a burden already.”
“You were dreaming about your parents,” Hinata said, making him stiffen. Hinata sipped at his own water coolly. “When I asked you out, I did consider the fact that you’ve been through a lot. It wasn’t a burden so much as a responsibility I took... Hell, I wanted you to rely on me long before that, too.” He takes another sip, and his cheeks are tinted red again. “When you asked to be friends, I wanted...that.”
Hahaha. He’s so cute. So cute it hurts.
“It’s silly,” Komaeda murmured, tracing the rim of the glass. The chill comforts him, because it had been so warm in the wreckage. Too warm. Actually, it had been so hot he thought he was scorching. When he was discovered, he almost died of dehydration...how funny was that? “I accepted my parents’ death years ago. To still have nightmares about it is... Ridiculous.”
I even have nightmares about my dog. Pathetic. And...
He dare not even think about what happened in despair.
“I shouldn’t have survived,” he whispered. “I shouldn’t have survived that. I shouldn’t have survived the riots. I shouldn’t have survived the simulation. But I did. Because I have Ultimate Luck.”
“I shouldn’t have survived the Kamukura Project,” Hinata pointed out bluntly. “But I did. And you did. We both did, even when others didn’t. We’re alive and that’s...”
“A burden,” Komaeda said.
“Not a bad thing,” Hinata corrected, albeit awkwardly. “I’m...glad you’re still here.”
Haha. Hahahaha. Ahhh.
“I’m glad that you’re here, Hinata-kun.” How utterly ridiculous. Why was he now—? “D...Did you know? While in despair I... I would... I would sometimes watch videos. Videos upon videos of...aircraft vehicles...”
“Oh.” Hinata sighed, setting his cup aside. “Oh, Nagito.”
“Sometimes there’d be survivors,” he whispered, snuffling as he rubbed at his eyes. God, they stung. “But survivors usually got mauled soon after. At least Naegi-san’s sister...” He laughed weakly and pitifully before his breath caught. “I... I asked for those videos to be made... Those videos were...gifts...”
Hinata embraced him tightly and fiercely, squeezing him as he fell apart.
“I was so lonely. So, so, lonely. I never got to see Mama and Papa very often. I saw so many ads for island resorts. I thought, for my birthday, wouldn’t it be nice if we all...?” He wheezed, choking on a sob. “It was nice... It was such a beautiful, beautiful place that when it came time, I didn’t want to leave...”
“It’s okay,” Hinata murmured into his ear, stroking his hair. “You don’t have to carry this alone, Nagito.”
Hinata holds him, doesn’t even complain when his shoulder gets soaked through. Just keeps petting him and whispering gentle reassurances. What a wonderful idiot he is.
Komaeda hiccups when trying to laugh.
“I... If you die, too...”
“It’ll be hard,” is Hinata’s response, and it’s sardonic as it is kind. “One of Kamukura’s talents is Ultimate Survivor.”
Survivor...
Sniffling, Komaeda does peer over Hinata’s shoulder. Their shadows stretch out, entangled into one entity.
“Survive with me, then,” he found himself saying, gripping Hinata’s back. “Okay?”
“Okay.”
Hinata Hajime didn’t hesitate for a second.
